Speaker 3 (00:58):
Well coming up.

Speaker 1 (00:58):
In twenty minutes, I can tell you too, now maybe
three names of coaches who aren't going to be the
next head coach of the Knicks. Apparently the pool is
getting to exited out as we go along.

Speaker 3 (01:12):
Well, we already had a couple of non non starters.

Speaker 4 (01:16):
As it were, was like they were going into I
don't know, the Belmont Steakes and never actually got into
the gate.

Speaker 1 (01:21):
And sure up no, but very late scratches, we got
news within the last hour of a couple of people
who will not be.

Speaker 3 (01:29):
The next head coach of the Knicks.

Speaker 1 (01:31):
And not just people that like Jay Wright like oh hey,
I'm retired. No, people the Knicks went after and they
were told now. But as we get set for Game
three of the NBA Finals tomorrow, there are two big
things coming off of the first two games.

Speaker 3 (01:51):
That it hits me.

Speaker 1 (01:55):
Watching what we've seen unfold. A series breaks down for
me with with one thing, and I can tell you
with one thing, they stink one thing.

Speaker 3 (02:08):
Ratings, no ratings.

Speaker 1 (02:10):
Yes, we've seen SGA play really good in both games. Right,
We've seen Tyre's Halliburton play well enough in one game. Right.
We've seen the Oklahoma City bench play well in one game.
We've seen the Pacers hit threes in one game. We've
seen a lot of different things. Right now the series
headed back to India, and there's many ways that you know,
you've seen a lot of experts breaking down. Hey, this

(02:32):
is what could happen. This is what could happen. This
is how so and so can win. This is out
so and so can win. But for me, it goes
like this, and it's pretty simple. If the Pacers can
hit their threes at a forty to forty five percent
clip in three more games, they'll win the title. Like that,
everything else can be overcome. They've they've shown they can

(02:52):
overcome a big SGA game. The Thunder have shown we
can come back after losing home court advantage and shut
down the page what they like to do offensively, Right,
We've shown you that our bench can play really well.
Look at the game Alex Caruso ad the other night.
But hey, pacers are going home. Benches play great at home. Matherren,
I'm sure is gonna score forty points in eight minutes
tomorrow night.

Speaker 3 (03:12):
Now, that was just against the Knicks.

Speaker 1 (03:13):
You have seen both teams be able to play at
their best and other teams be able to counteract what
they do. But for me, that's what it comes down to,
because the Pacers, the biggest advantage they have over all
the teams they have played they have beaten, is that
every guy on the court can hit a three at
any time. Every guy can hit a three. They have
bigs that can hit threes. They can they can maneuver

(03:36):
down low, guys can kick out. Miles Turner can hit threes.

Speaker 3 (03:39):
Right.

Speaker 1 (03:39):
You have guys that can hit threes at a pretty
good clip throughout the game. This is why they're able
to come back in the series. When they came back
and beat the Bucks in the first round, beating the
Knicks in that big game one come back, Why when
they're down twenty, down nine with fifty seconds left to go,
if we hit our threes, we're gonna be able to
come back on you. And it's that simple. If three

(04:01):
more times they can hit their threes forty two, forty
five percent in the game, they're gonna win. And and
no matter what the Thunder do, it's not gonna be enough,
because those are gonna be games where Halliburton's gonna be
able to get to the rack and be able to
kick it out to guys that can hit threes. Maybe
it's Nie Smith hitting threes, maybe it's nem Hard hitting threes.
Doesn't matter. Mean McConnell hits some threes, But if they

(04:22):
hit their threes at that kind of a clip. They
win the NBA title, they can do it three more time.
They can go forty two forty five percent. Forty two
three more times, they win the title. Oklahoma City can
overcome back. Conversely, if they can't do that three more times,
then the Thunder are gonna win the title. They can
do it two more times. But guess what, They're gonna
lose every game they don't hit their threes. Right, It's

(04:43):
very simple, but that's really how it breaks down for
the pick. Go and look at their games as postseason.
When they hit their threes, they win. When they don't,
they lose.

Speaker 3 (04:50):
And that's how.

Speaker 1 (04:51):
They knowing they can have their time where they can
hit threes because we saw that in the first game
against the Thunder, it's how they're able to come back
knowing they can do it, that's the game for me.
Three more times at forty forty five percent, they win
the series. If not, the Thunder win the series.

Speaker 3 (05:04):
Yeah, we go back to.

Speaker 4 (05:05):
That fourth quarter where you had just the insane run
of shooting six of nine from three point range, whereas
the Thunder went zero for five and didn't hit a
shot outside of the paint in that entire fourth quarter.

Speaker 3 (05:23):
The likelihood of that very low, Yeah, very low.

Speaker 4 (05:27):
But but you're saying there's a chance, right one of
the great pieces.

Speaker 3 (05:32):
And that's it right now.

Speaker 4 (05:34):
It's it's theory testing and trying to figure out where
that sweet spot is of of opening the portal, having
nothing to do with college basketball in the moment, just.

Speaker 1 (05:45):
Opening that picturing Wong opening the that's I thought, that's
what I'm trying to do it and get.

Speaker 3 (05:50):
You a game portal. I think we're in the era
of peak television.

Speaker 1 (05:53):
No, okay, if I could get Wong into the equation,
we'll get higher ratings. Okay, okay, all right, all right,
because you're also doing the thing where you're sitting there,
twitchy like strange and holding up one figure.

Speaker 3 (06:04):
This is the way this happened.

Speaker 1 (06:06):
Caliburton dribbling down the court, Loong opens the portally, he
goes right through the portally, close it up.

Speaker 4 (06:10):
But this is this is how it has to happen.
There's one way, all right, insane shooting to that level
forty six percent for the game from three point range
for the Pacers in game one, game two thirty five percent.
You had the insane turnover total in game one mostly

(06:30):
the first half. Second half, it got cleaned up a bunch,
which is how you make the run and keep it close.
The transition defense was really the tail of the tape
for me shooting. We know they can get the spurtability.
We've watched it all year to your point, and something
we've talked about with a lot with Rick Buker is

(06:51):
the floor off of those starters and then you add
in Obi top and along the way in terms of
thirty three thirty four percent being the floor for those
guys as three point shooters, whereas the Thunder don't have
that same level of depth. You've got guys like Dort
Sga at times, Chet can step out, but they're not
to that level of shooting acuity that we see from

(07:14):
the Pacers one through six, one through seven. So yeah,
that opens it up. The curiosity is can you can
you play as they have because they play fast, which
leads to some of these transition turnovers and chaos, but
can you cover it up against this OKAC squad Because
you saw Sga in game two, We're leaving no doubt

(07:37):
I'm going to the rat.

Speaker 3 (07:38):
Oh yeah, like we're not. We're not playing fool like
we're not playing this game an, No, we're just taking
care of.

Speaker 1 (07:43):
I might shoot forty free throws the night, doesn't matter.
It's what I'm doing. But that becomes the pace, right
you slow it down. You don't want to necessarily run
with the pacers because that's how they played all season long,
and your close out defenders have to commit like they
did the first Yeah, look, they still shot nearly thirty
six percent for the game from three point range.

Speaker 4 (08:05):
But it was a blowout right that night. What was it,
nineteen to two, nineteen to four, whatever that run was.
They never recovered from that, and even with a little
run late in the game, they were far too far
in arrears to try to make up that ground again.
So for Game three, you think the bench plays better
right home in Indiana, You think you get a little

(08:28):
bit of juice there. I still call it in six,
but I like that we're having discussions about how they
win as opposed to pre series what it was. I
don't know, sweep man, how many people said sweep like
that was the consensus, right, we talked about it. You know,
in terms of betting odds, there weren't particularly long odds

(08:48):
for a four to oho sweep now, speaking of how
this series is going to go, right now, I picked
the thunder and five. After seeing the first two games,
I now I now firmly believe this series is going seven,
and I'm going thunder and seven because what I've got

(09:08):
the memo from Adamson, what I've said, Yeah, I know,
I know, Scott fALS got the script.

Speaker 1 (09:12):
Scott far Is doing game three, in game five, Tony
Brothers doing game.

Speaker 3 (09:15):
Four, Aaron Foster deliver it by hand. Yes, yeah, you
get right to my house and here you go.

Speaker 1 (09:19):
Man. But watching watching these first two games, right, okay,
what do we see for the next few games, they'll
probably split in Indiana.

Speaker 3 (09:27):
Indiana will have one game where they.

Speaker 1 (09:29):
Hit their threes and Oklahoma City will have one game
where they adjust and SGA will have a big game
and they will he will get enough from chet or
or Caruso off the bench. Both these teams are really good.
I have not seen anything from either team that tells
me one of them can throw the hammer down. And
now after two games, yeah we got you. For the

(09:51):
next three or four games, we're gonna win this thing
pretty comfortably. Right, Like I've seen, I've seen Oklahoma City
getting all around efforts from SGA the entire playoffs. They
went seven games against against the Denver Nuggets, Right, that's
gonna happen. I don't know that either team can impose
their will against the other one, because what can happen

(10:13):
in one game? The other team can come back. Right
if they hit the Pacers at their threes in game
three and they win, guess what, Okay, the Thunder well
adjustin game four? They will probably win that game, and
then it's gonna go home, home, home, in the Thunder
will win because they have Game seven at home. Like,
there's nothing to tell and I know that the first
game was this big comeback by the Pacers and and Halliburton,

(10:34):
it's a shot. If not, it's too nothing Thunder and
the Thunder really let one escape. But it shows you
that the Pacers can come back in a hostile environment
win this game. They're juiced up by the crowd now
that they're gonna have back back at home. I their
bench will play better in the home obviously, but we
saw Oklahoma City's bench play well at home. Again, if
I saw that there was something from either team that

(10:56):
would say, Okay, they're gonna start doing this and Oklahoma's
he has no answers for it. But instead it's gonna
be more this game, we have the advantage. Maybe Siakim
is hot this game, he's not hot the next game.
Halliburton plays really well in this game, he doesn't play
well in the next game. SGA scores thirty eight points,
but it's not enough in one game. But he's thirty
eight and twelve and ten in the next game, and
that's enough. Like that's how I see this series going,

(11:18):
because each team can have their moments and it's going
to be a game by game punch counter punch. So
if I go split splitting these next two, Okay, we
got we're tied to to Thunder win game five at home,
Pacers win.

Speaker 3 (11:29):
Game six, Thunder win game seven. Look at you.

Speaker 1 (11:32):
That's where I'm going. Okay, I'm gonna stand six. Just
question whether the Pacers take Tomorrow or Friday. I'm gonna
say they win Friday. You cut up, and then we
get our thunder. We have the thunder runch j in
the words of Garth Brooks. Then the Thunder rolls.

Speaker 3 (11:50):
The thunder rolls. Yeah, it's look they got.

Speaker 4 (11:53):
Thirty struck just like ac DC DJ nice the the Pacers.
They did have thirty nine points from the bend.

Speaker 1 (12:00):
Going back to game one, Halliburton has as many points
through two games as Alex Caruso.

Speaker 3 (12:06):
Just one of those fun little fun with numbers.

Speaker 1 (12:09):
And will they have too much love to perform well
in Indiana?

Speaker 3 (12:14):
Don't they need hate?

Speaker 1 (12:16):
Dj Clearly there can't be enough love and thunder in
Indiana at once. That's like the NBA Finals. Nobody saw
that one. No, I think people are oh no, maybe
you're right now.

Speaker 4 (12:31):
I think that was the one where was a bridge
too far, hey, which is why he's not coming back
for whatever.

Speaker 1 (12:37):
Notice how Harry Styles has not been mentioned about being
in the MCU at all.

Speaker 4 (12:40):
I need Harry Styles that we've been clamoring for him.
We need to go to a show. My daughters are eager.
Do you go see Harry Stots Harry Styles. Okay, we
got shot out last time. We decided financially in the
time of the year that we're just like, we could
go to three other shows.

Speaker 1 (12:55):
Okay, all right, that's that's a good plan. Yeah, that's
a good plan. All right, But if he comes back again,
I'll mortgage your house.

Speaker 3 (13:02):
Good to go see Harry Styles.

Speaker 1 (13:05):
Exit out about a Fresca exit Swallen dopes today you go,
two big takes coming up for the NBA file again,
just watch the games at the paceit there threes.

Speaker 3 (13:12):
They'll win, If they don't, they'll lose. It's that simple.

Speaker 1 (13:15):
But coming up next, cross two names, maybe three, off
the list of who could be the next Knicks head
coach this late breaking story straight ahead, Jason and Mike
Fox Sports Radio, Tom Glavin, Joey Browner, Joaquin andrewhar who

Speaker 1 (14:56):
Sports Radio The Jason Smith Show with My best friend
Mike har And we'll get to the next coming up
in a couple of seconds. But uh Wenby is having
quite the adventure right now as the Spurs star in
China in the midst of what's expected to be a
ten days stay at a Shaolin temple. The temple is
a place that welcomes visitors who want to study meditation,

(15:19):
kung fu, traditional Chinese medicine, and more than I'm thinking
is you know his ros Eye.

Speaker 3 (15:24):
Goul and Batman. Yeah, I'm gonna go and learn.

Speaker 4 (15:28):
Well, I mean, look, he missed time with with blood
clots and injuries and huh, I mean we go back
to the origin story of Doctor Strange as well. I mean,
like we converge those paths and we have learning that
now they'll miss no games.

Speaker 3 (15:44):
Due to injury or this. I mean, you gotta be
look and you could take over a city.

Speaker 1 (15:48):
Gotta because rassel Ghoul turns out to be like a
huge supervillain, right, so it's.

Speaker 3 (15:52):
Kind of a big game.

Speaker 1 (15:53):
Good dude, it's a supervillain. They wind up in the
bottom of that pit. You gotta be a fine find
your way out.

Speaker 4 (15:58):
I mean I do like, you know, as as exemplified
by Liam Neeson, I mean that beard was pretty cool.

Speaker 3 (16:05):
Yeah, it was pretty tight.

Speaker 1 (16:06):
And now I suppose that there's pictures of him, uh
you know, he's there at the temple and this picture
with a shaved head and he's wearing a monk's robe
and it's like it's okay, Wemby is there for we
all spiritual growth look stuff like this, Like when I say,
like you think about Aaron Rodgerson, you know, my ayahuasca retreat,
It's like, Okay, I just want to go somewhere and
drink tea and just say hey. But like certain things

(16:27):
like this, like it's it's about it's about people taking
taking power themselves and putting themselves in the right frame
of mind, saying I need something like this to fight.
This is gonna help me focus, it's gonna help me
be a better athlete, it's gonna clear my mind. Like
I firmly believe stuff like this it can be really
good for you because it's all about putting you whatever

(16:49):
puts you in a positive frame of mind to be
able to succeed.

Speaker 3 (16:52):
And here he is.

Speaker 1 (16:53):
Wemby seems like he's having a great time. He's posting
pictures all over the place. Here I'm doing this and
this and this is kind of sound cool.

Speaker 3 (16:58):
But like I see this and I.

Speaker 1 (17:00):
Go, okay, like if this is something, hey, I go
on this trip and I try to find my silk.
He's twenty one years old.

Speaker 3 (17:05):
No matter what.

Speaker 1 (17:06):
The guy's twenty one years old. You always try to
everybody's trying to find themselves in their early twenties and
something like this. Hey, I did that, and I dug
it because I was able to focus them and I
was able to meditate or learn kung for whatever it is.
And I come back, you know, learning stuff from that trip,
you know, traveling across the world and I and I
learned something about myself. I learned something about discipline. Whatever
lessons you can take away and stuff like this I

(17:27):
think always can help. Well.

Speaker 4 (17:28):
But that's the thing, right when we talked about the
Rogers stuff, you know, going back to the ayahuasca and darknesstry,
I don't know, Like I haven't done any of those.
I can't judge, you know, the efficacy of them. It's
not something I'm looking to do. It's also like I'm
not gonna run a marathon just for giggles.

Speaker 3 (17:48):
Yeah, I'm not doing that now. Well, but i mean,
like the number of folks that do it, what do
they do. I'm not telling you about their marathon. I'm
not doing it if you paid, right, I.

Speaker 1 (17:55):
Mean, so there's different things, right where you find your piece,
your ze and maybe you go to work out maybe
it's the way you eat church services, temple in this case,
going across the globe and seeking whatever that enlightenment is,
you know, whatever your path is.

Speaker 3 (18:14):
You know, my old basis to.

Speaker 4 (18:16):
Everything is like, as long as you're not hurting somebody
else and you're going in mindfully to whatever end you're seeking,
good for you, Good on you, and I hope you find.

Speaker 3 (18:26):
What you're looking for.

Speaker 4 (18:27):
And for Victor Webbin Yamas, it's an interesting He's I
can't wait to hear his tails because eventually he'll talk, right,
because that's the whole thing with among them. For whatever
period is he speaking. I know he was playing soccer
a couple of weeks ago, so I think there was
some happiness for Spurs fans that he was into physical
activity and had obviously been cleared to do something.

Speaker 3 (18:49):
So they get that. But the other is like, I want.

Speaker 4 (18:51):
To hear the tails and what he found, what he discovered,
who you know, the processes of all of this.

Speaker 3 (18:57):
I'm intrigued.

Speaker 1 (18:57):
Maybe maybe that's my next thing, that's my midlife crisis,
which they celebrated.

Speaker 4 (19:03):
The anniversary at the release of the Other Day Faith
No More. By the way, I really, I really want
to see in the picture. Hey, you know, everything is
great to see a picture with his arm around Liam.

Speaker 3 (19:10):
Neeson all of a sudden, yeah the character name. Yeah, Hey,
wait a minute, wait, what's going on here?

Speaker 1 (19:19):
Now?

Speaker 3 (19:21):
Whenever?

Speaker 4 (19:22):
What has the city has built itself up? And yeah,
now you're talking, we're.

Speaker 1 (19:29):
Going through man, I'll tell you uh so again. You know, look,
all best thoughts to Wemby obviously, you know, coming back
from the thrombosas in his shoulder. Hopefully he's ready to play.
I know, I know the French team is hoping he
can play this summer, the spurs open, he can start
the fall. That was the last update we got was
that they're hoping he can play by the beginning of
the season. So you know, all if this is helping him,
it's helping him, right. Some people go to Germany and

(19:50):
get new blood. Wemby's going to Choco.

Speaker 4 (19:53):
There's a million processes, some some are embraced in, depending
where you're at cul truley and legally depend right and
what you can take for recovery, get into the whole
steroids and HGH and whatever conversations you want to go
down that rabbit hole as you will. But you know,

(20:13):
if it's if it's helping you, or or you think
it's gonna help you, go for it.

Speaker 1 (20:18):
Yes, and maybe he learns kung fu. And then when
there's a brawl, like suddenly, whoa.

Speaker 3 (20:21):
This guy's visu. Well, we like reboots.

Speaker 1 (20:23):
He's cleaning the floor with everybody. Yeah, David Carradine isn't
with us anymore. So let's go to kung fu.

Speaker 3 (20:28):
The reboot go there we go there come No.

Speaker 1 (20:30):
I mean like I wanted to see what you were
going to come back with what I said. I'm like,
oh yeah, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, gonna go
right past.

Speaker 3 (20:37):
They're gonna go right past. So uh, while will Bill
kill Bill? Just say kill Bill? Well Wenby is trying
to find his way out of the pit.

Speaker 1 (20:45):
Uh. The Knicks also tj trying to find their way
out of the pit of not getting anybody to be
their head coach.

Speaker 3 (20:52):
Well, Doc Rivers Frostburg, stop doing that. Man. Eventually he's
gonna be the only one left off. Nicks're gonna have
to call him. Is this gonna be a game of
musical chairs?

Speaker 4 (21:04):
And he's just standing there waving and he hasn't moved
the whole time.

Speaker 3 (21:07):
No, I've been saying, I just stand up and sit
down with the music stop us and call the books.
I just sit down with the music stops. I'm the
only one left. Yeah, you gotta have me. I gotta
do it, I gotta do it. Yeah.

Speaker 4 (21:17):
Well, I mean, you know, the Bucks really thought and
think that Yannis will stay and he talks to Doc.

Speaker 3 (21:23):
What if they are Doc is the only one left?
The Nicks ass I remember? And when Who Wants to
Be a Millionaire? Was the big show?

Speaker 1 (21:31):
Right, was on like four nights a week, and they
had the celebrity version, the very first celebrity version, and
they had like ten celebrities and you had.

Speaker 3 (21:37):
To answer the question the first.

Speaker 1 (21:39):
The quickest person to answer got to go up and
ask right, So they you're all way down to ten
and Ray Romano was the only one left and he's like,
do I have to answer? And reads like that's how
he played the game. He goes all right, So he's
the only one left. So they asked the question. Ray
Ramano answers and he goes, all right, come on up.
He goes, No, I want you to show my name
like you showed everybody else's show my name, like Doc

(22:00):
Rivers is like, I'm the only one left.

Speaker 3 (22:02):
You gotta talk to me, like my name, let me
see Doc Rivers.

Speaker 1 (22:05):
So Shams Trani of ESPN has the big story earlier tonight.
I can't say break news, it's a couple hours old now,
but he puts out that the Knicks reached out to
the Timberwolves to interview Chris Finch, Chris Finch, Chris Finch,
Chris Finch.

Speaker 3 (22:22):
And they were told no.

Speaker 1 (22:24):
Also reached out to the Houston Rockets for Emyudoka, they
were told no. They have not reached out to the
Dallas Mavericks as of yet, but sources tell ESPN if
the Knicks do reach out, the Mavericks would say no.
So Mark Stein joined us last night. He had this

(22:46):
report early last week saying the two names he was
hearing were Jason Kidd and Emo Udoka. He told us
last night, Hey, they knew they weren't getting Udoka, so
they've moved on and so now here it is where
they here's these three names and made me now it's
not Jason Kidd.

Speaker 3 (23:01):
Now.

Speaker 1 (23:01):
First thing I want to say is this is I
don't want to break my unpat myself on the back.

Speaker 3 (23:04):
But last week.

Speaker 1 (23:05):
What did I tell you we're gonna get a new
name every day for the next not that they're interviewed
and talked to, but a new name every day. Right,
what's happened last week? We've gotten Jay Wright, We've gotten
Rick Patino, we got Jason Kidd, now, we got in Hudoka,
and we got Chris Finch. We've had just about a
name everybody to day. But we have the last six
days we got five names. That's a pretty good I told.

Speaker 3 (23:25):
You, that's why we prosper gave you six. Yeah.

Speaker 1 (23:28):
That's no, no, no, that's not that is not an
official name. That is not any name that's been mentioned.
His name has not been mentioned. And according to a whispers, no, guys, no,
there's no sources that say that. No, nobody's got sources
that say that guy. No, nobody has sources. Don't stop
putting that out there. Oh, listen to Fox, they talk
about me all the time. All right, So, okay, I

(23:51):
told you, But this is where things get weird because
it's a fine line to from be a destination to
being an embarrassment. Right, Like when big teams have coaching openings,
you normally hear one name, right, Beno Cook would always

(24:11):
tell me goes when Notre Dame has an opening, you
hear one name. There's never another name. You just hear
one name, and he's the coach. That's what you get.
One name.

Speaker 3 (24:21):
Oh but I said, but Pino, Jason, how many what
did I just say? One? How many numbers did I
just say to you? One? One name? Right? One name?
It's what I said.

Speaker 4 (24:29):
You open that door. I'm gonna walk down the avenue
and then we're gonna turn around. We're gonna finish that
other time. I would really give anything to sit down
with Bino Cook and go, all right, explain this college
world to me.

Speaker 1 (24:41):
Now, oh, Jason, everybody's got jobs. Everybody just got some
people have jobs. Now you don't have to. You know,
when I came up, they would pay people under the table.
I would work a whole saturday in a convenience store
and I would go in and Joe would say, here's
your money for today.

Speaker 3 (25:00):
I put it in my pocket. That's right, walk out.

Speaker 2 (25:02):
Now.

Speaker 1 (25:03):
This is the equivalent of college players saying, hey, I
can now just get a check. I don't need to
walk in and get paid under the table like that's
that's kind of how he would explain it.

Speaker 4 (25:11):
Yeah, today's wrinkle was the uh, well, we're trying to
keep it from bankruptcy. But let's get back to your problem.
We'll get to those other problems.

Speaker 1 (25:20):
You wait, college football's not making money, really, and they're
not making money. Where is this? This is a farce.
It's a farce. College football's not making money. Yes, college
football is going bankrupt, so they had to do this, yes, exactly. Look,
it gets embarrassing because now the Knicks, I said, they're
going to enjoy the status of being the destination graigs.
Now the Knicks are a destination all these big names. Hey,

(25:43):
we gonna get anybody we want to. We're swinging big guys.

Speaker 5 (25:46):
Hey.

Speaker 1 (25:48):
But very quickly you go from we're a destination to
nobody wants the job. And it doesn't matter that these
are teams that have told the Knicks no. Kicks consider
and say, well, they told us no, no, no, no,
because if either Udoka or Jason Kidd or Chris Finch

(26:08):
told their team, hey, I want that job, guess what
you're getting that coach, because if they say they want
the job, they're not bringing them back. If Chris Finch
says I want that job. I want the Knixt job.
I want that job. Man Minnesota can't bring him back.
So now all there is is negotiating whatever the exit
fee is going to be, whatever the compensation is going

(26:29):
to be, the same thing for Udoka, same thing for
Jason Kidd. If they said that's the job I want,
then guess what, Hey, you can't come back and coach
that team that the team is not gonna let you,
the players aren't gonna let you, the fans, you can't
do it. You lit that bridge on fire. And since
they can't bring you back, Okay, we'll figure out if
you're not gonna coach us, we'll figure out compensation. So basically,

(26:51):
even though the Knicks haven't asked, they've already basically been
told no two potentially by three names.

Speaker 3 (26:55):
Jay Wright's name was out there.

Speaker 1 (26:56):
He said, I have no interest in coaching the next Okay,
Rick Patino, I have no Now these aren't people the
Knicks talk to. But again, these are a couple of
names you're throwing out there. So so far, all these
names that have been mentioned with the job from the
very beginning, the Knicks now basically are oh for all
of them now obviously, right and Patina were two names
at the bottom because these aren't names that have been

(27:17):
linked with them. They're just names that people have come
up with. But Finch, Doka and now pretty soon it
would be Jason Kidd. That's oh for three for the Knicks.
Now there are three great guys, right, three great coaches.
But no, stop, everybody is better than Doc Rivers. Okay,
it's everybody else and then Doc Rivers right down to
the bottom and well and then Tibbs because we're not
gonna I don't. Would I rather bring Tims boy bringing

(27:38):
TIBs back or Doc Riversim I bring Tims back? So
now the Knicks way JJ REDDICKJJ my.

Speaker 3 (27:46):
Guy, JJ reddick. Uh.

Speaker 1 (27:49):
Now it's getting the point where it's going to get
embarrassing for the Knicks, and it gets embarrassing for free
agents who say they couldn't get the guy they wanted.
Do they like this coach? Do I like playing for
this coach? Do they have a vision? Do they know
what they're doing? Because while they had to get rid
of TIBs, because as we see stories that have come out,
I told you, look the Knicks, they don't seem heartbroken
over losing Tips they're saying all the right things, but

(28:10):
we told you the night.

Speaker 3 (28:11):
They got fired.

Speaker 1 (28:11):
I've not seen anything from Jalen Brunson, nothing from Karl
Anthony Towns. Josh Hart said, hey, thanks for everything, TIBs,
but no overwhelming boy, what are we doing now? Of course,
and now we get the stories. In the last couple
of days, players were upset in end of season meetings.
Leon Rose was there, James Dolan was there. All right,
we gotta make them.

Speaker 4 (28:29):
We gotta Rose salty a bit about the roster he
assembled not being utilized to its greatest potential, right in
terms of minutes played, rotational, et cetera.

Speaker 1 (28:39):
We have to move on. So I get you have
to move on, But now what's their plan? Clearly there
isn't a plan other than let's talk to big names.
So now in one day it's gone from boy, who
are the Knicks gonna get?

Speaker 3 (28:49):
And you're you're rubbing your hands there go boy, who
is it gonna be? Kid?

Speaker 1 (28:53):
Now it's like, okay, now three names are basically off
the table. And now it gets because the more time
that goes on, it gets more embarrassing. The more names
the Knicks go over on, so this can get and
it's already getting embarrassing right fire, Like last.

Speaker 3 (29:05):
Hour is like this could be getting no nut an
hour later.

Speaker 1 (29:07):
It's already getting embarrassing because if the Jason kid thing
goes the way it is, I don't know what else
to say now that the knicks are going over.

Speaker 4 (29:14):
But the other part is there are no rules to
this nick search that you have to go to someone
who's already married, because that's all you're doing. You're going
from when got hits, that's where you got a job.
But that's where the best people are. Like I'm saying
this is say long, if you're married, you know stuff
about relationships. If you're single, maybe you don't know anything
about relationships. That's why I'm going to the married person first.

(29:36):
It's all theoretical, but the fact I wonder what the world.

Speaker 1 (29:39):
Will be like if that actually happened in the world.
Like I want to get married, and you know I
could marry you, but I want to see if someone
wants to get divorced and marry me first. Well, I mean,
I'm sure that's happened. It's nothing else. We could create
a game. I'd like permission to talk to your wife
about potentially married. But that's essentially what that's what the
Knicks are doing. Hey, Pat, depending on that idea, someone's
gonna use that th idea.

Speaker 3 (30:00):
But you've got a.

Speaker 1 (30:02):
Load of names, top names, guys that were coaches of
the year in the last five to six years, including
tib Tips now, but that are available in the open market,
not to mention a few college names or assistants that
are out there. Yet at this point, the entire coaching searches, Hey,
should we call that team now?

Speaker 4 (30:23):
I already told you to beat it all right. We
don't even have to make the call. It's not even
a collect call. I mean, it's in this case, like
at this point you fired TIBs.

Speaker 3 (30:31):
How long ago?

Speaker 1 (30:33):
It's like eight days ago, nine days ago, a week
and a half, whatever it is that if you haven't
called to try to get Jason Kidd by.

Speaker 3 (30:40):
This point, are they even picking up the phone? Like
this is Nico.

Speaker 4 (30:45):
He's already been burned, right, so he's already salty and
you know medicine, he's on high alert.

Speaker 1 (30:52):
But I could tell if you're the Mavericks, why haven't
you just said hey, if you call, no, Like, why
hadn't that come out till now if you call, we're
telling you no, Jason kids our guy, don't call.

Speaker 3 (31:02):
I want to put the onus.

Speaker 4 (31:03):
You want to make the Knicks feel needy as opposed
to being defensive.

Speaker 1 (31:07):
No, get out of here. Don't even look at my guy.
I dare you again. It's get it gets embarrassing for
the Knicks fast right. It's so good, so good for
so long, and look how fast it turned to embarrassing.
What's the Knicks next? Show time now to find out
what's trending in the wide world of sports. But guy's
been called the Jason Kidd of Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 3 (31:27):
I haven't. I haven't seen him get a phone call
in the last few hours. It is Teem de Sager.

Speaker 5 (31:31):
Do you remember that game where Jason Kidd, some would
say smartly, some would not spilled a drink on purpose?

Speaker 1 (31:38):
Oh yeah, yeah, bump into me so I could spill
my water so I can clean we get a time out.

Speaker 3 (31:44):
Yeah.

Speaker 5 (31:45):

Speaker 1 (36:39):
Phone uh, so getting set For game three of THE
Nba finals tomorrow. Night it's it's a weird thing to
say because of the moments that he's had in the,
playoff that he's had the clutch playoff the, head LIKE
i don't know anybody's had in thirty. Years but After game,
TWO i kind of feel LIKE i need more From Tyrese, Haliburton,
like if you're that great a, player how do you

(37:01):
still have The Anthony Edwards two out of every six
games in a playoff Series i'm gonna be invisible And
i'm not gonna affect the, game, RIGHT i don't know
how that Look Anthony. Edwards we saw, it and you
know he's someone that either doesn't recognize the defenses that
he sees or doesn't want to admit that he's he
needs to be doing a little bit. More but there's

(37:22):
a couple of times in Every playoff series Where Ann
edwards is just. Invisible game he's three for ten from the,
floor he scored eleven. Points how does that? Happen the
Guy's Michael jordan. Right Why it's WHY i Picked Oklahoma
city to get to the finals BECAUSE i Know sga
is going to be great every single. Game BUT i
feel like the same thing For halliburton, now AND i
need more from him BECAUSE i feel like the times
he plays his best and when he's, challenged when he

(37:43):
feels challenged by something outside of the, game Like I'm
i'm overrated or, Oh i'm pumped up because my dad
is coming back to the, game which, okay, great, right awesome,
Story but why Doesn't halliburton play like that every single?

Speaker 3 (37:57):
Game like?

Speaker 1 (37:57):
That like there's games WHERE i see. It how is
he go four for eleven from the. Flat how was
he you, know twelve points and seven seven assists and six,
Rebounds like he's he's at all and he's an ALL
nba caliber. Player and he, again he has two games
in every, series it, seems, where, boy how.

Speaker 3 (38:14):
Do you show up?

Speaker 1 (38:14):
There like you need to be motivated able to? Play
you got to find some kind of, slight some kind of.
Motivation AND i just keep going back to the series
with The, knicks where first two games were. Fantastic game
three he was. Bad The knicks win game, three and
that's when they, Decide, hey your dad's coming back for game.
Four why wouldn't you Bring John halliburton back For game
three at all kinds of? Time oh, No haliburton had

(38:36):
a bad. Game we got to motivate him for game.
Four It's game four of The Eastern Conference. Finals you
shouldn't have to be. Motivated what? Happened he comes In
game four and he has one of his best games
of his. Career like that shouldn't be the. Case LIKE
i get being motivated during the, season having, Time, yeah
but this is the playoffs AND i you, KNOW i
want more From haliburton has games. That, Yeah i'm just
not into it. Tonight i'm just Not i'm not feeling

(38:57):
my way all the way into the, game And i'm
And and it's very much The Ant edward's style Of,
yeah two out of six games in a playoff, Series
i'm not. Motivated if you're that, great you need to
find that self motivation every single, night not find. It
and here's what a poll was said about, me or
here's this happening off the. Court you gotta be great
all the.

Speaker 4 (39:15):
Time, yeah that's the curiosity though With, halibert right back
to back years of An ALL nba third team, Selection
but he doesn't light up the stat, sheet, Right it's
all about clutch, moments big moments and contributions across the.
Board and you go back To game, one didn't shoot particularly,
well wasn't finished with fourteen, points but ten, boards six.

(39:37):
Assists in the last ten games that he's, played he's
only shot the ball more than seventeen times twice a
couple of twenty three shot efforts along the, way so
usually making contributions in other ways and other. Teammates and
this goes back to your point about analyzing the series
as a. Whole with the number of three point shooters

(39:58):
and distributing the ball and the fact That pascal siakam
but believe it or, not you, know we keep having
to bang the drum on. This he was their leading
score was not just because the guys at ALL nba
player doesn't mean he was the leading. Scorer and you,
know a juggernaut in that regard throughout the. Season usually
it's all about distribution For.

Speaker 1 (40:19):
Halliburton so we need more From halliburton and AND i
need less from the. Internet frostburg is gonna love, this, Right,
okay what we? Got we keep Throwing Doc rivers. Out,
jason one of our one of our big, listeners, uh
just did his own photoshop with the Of Doc rivers
with the phrase breaking. News The bucks gave The knicks

(40:42):
permission to Interview Doc, rivers But New york.

Speaker 3 (40:44):
Declined that's that's pretty.

Speaker 1 (40:50):
Good nice, Job. JAMES i like, that, yeah because that's
what should. Happen decline, that my Buddy Ben. Mallards, next
this Is Fox.
