Let's give you're listening to Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 3 (00:28):
That winner take all Bucks Panthers game might be irrelevant
because of the Falcons win again.
Speaker 4 (00:35):
Next week.
Speaker 3 (00:35):
It's the Panthers Division, regardless of what happens. College football
playoffs right around the corner. If you missed hour one,
check out the podcast. Ryan Fowler was on with us.
Marcus Freeman is sticking around at Notre Dame and Arnie.
We're monitoring this Nicole jokicch injury. Di Seger brought it
up brilliantly last segment. It wasn't a home game, so
(00:57):
they gotta get back home. They gotta get him to
you know, they're doctors, and I'm sure they've got great
team doctors as well. We'll be interesting to follow because
if he's gone, so were the Nuggets.
Speaker 5 (01:08):
Oh forgive.
Speaker 3 (01:09):
It'd be like the thunder losing SGA, be like the
Lakers losing Luca. I mean, it's just it's kind of
an irreplaceable piece whenever all is said and done.
Speaker 4 (01:18):
But I don't fake it.
Speaker 5 (01:20):
Yeah, I don't think it's an a cl of course.
I'm not a doctor.
Speaker 4 (01:23):
You literally said you thought it was an hour one.
Speaker 5 (01:25):
Well, I'm reading what the doctors are writing on Twitter,
like doctor Chow and stuff and another doctor who does
this stuff where they just look at the injury, not
you know, not the X rays or anything.
Speaker 4 (01:38):
So your mind's changing, is what you're saying about it. Yeah.
Speaker 5 (01:40):
They're both saying that the way it happened, that it
looks like it's a hyper extension or something to that effect,
and that hopefully it's not going to be an ACL.
They don't think it is. So we'll see. We'll see
what the uh prognosis is tomorrow, I guess.
Speaker 4 (01:56):
But yeah, you're good.
Speaker 5 (01:58):
Yeah, they'll have to get them to their their own
facility and their own doctors.
Speaker 4 (02:02):
Do you you want to play a game here? You
want to? Okay?
Speaker 3 (02:07):
Arnie every single show puts together his notes for the program.
It's old school.
Speaker 4 (02:12):
He does it.
Speaker 3 (02:13):
On a yellow notepad. Did he include you in the
tweet with the notes Bursch or was it just me?
Speaker 4 (02:18):
I think it was just you today.
Speaker 5 (02:20):
Who's Bursch?
Speaker 4 (02:21):
Ryan Berschinger our producer exactly?
Speaker 5 (02:23):
Who that is.
Speaker 3 (02:24):
Whom you had been communicating with quite regularly? Do I
know him who you're trying to sound cool for?
Speaker 4 (02:28):
But I know him?
Speaker 5 (02:29):
No?
Speaker 4 (02:29):
Burschinger?
Speaker 3 (02:30):
Okay, the question is staying are gone? Arnie has laid
out ten different either scenarios or players, and the question
is are they staying where they are or are they gone?
Speaker 5 (02:43):
At GEN didn't write that out very well. There's there's
actually four answers for each player, okay, okay, yeah, one
one did you be? Does the player want to go?
Does the team want him back? Do the fans want
him back? And what's really going to happen? So those
are like the four answers.
Speaker 3 (03:01):
I mean, there'd be forty A, B and c's on
this if that were the case. Ony, it's only and
seeing that this was a four hour show, that would
have been nice an hour one, so it wouldn't have
to be sitting here sweating to get four hours of
content here, I'm kidding, all right, Well, go with it
what you want. But I'm gonna tell you right now,
I'm one eightying on you here. I'm thinking Lamar Jackson's
back with Baltimore. Don't think he's going anywhere. And I
(03:25):
think if he does go anywhere, minding up with your
Miami Dolphins, which will be a wild one eighty to
see you turn but number one on your list and
staying or gone Lamar.
Speaker 5 (03:35):
Jackson, Right, Lamar, Well, first of all, if I'm Lamar okay,
if I'm trying to get into the head of Lamar Jackson. One,
he's from the Miami area, right, He's right from down there.
So I think I want to go if i'm him. One,
I want to go from him because maybe I can
go home. There's no no Garrett, you know, go to
the Florida areak to Miami or something.
Speaker 4 (03:57):
Two.
Speaker 5 (03:58):
I don't feel like I'm getting appreciated by the fans,
and I kind of don't feel like I'm getting This
is what I'm thinking is going through his mind. I
don't feel like I got treated completely the best way
with the organization, which I completely disagree with because they
gave him a great contract. But he was complaining about
on one part of it. Chris, you mentioned that the
(04:19):
the other day. I think it was on Sunday that
it wasn't fully guaranteed or one part wasn't guaranteed. So
I think Lamar feels like he wants to go because
he's been wrong. I think the fans actually want him
to go. To be honest with you, I think they're
done with him. I think that record in the playoffs
(04:40):
really really stands over him, and the fans have had
enough of it. I believe they want him to go.
I believe the team wants him to stay. There's no
doubt the front office and all that they have a
two time MVP, four time Pro bowler. They know they can,
you know, get over the hump and win in the playoffs.
So I believe that team wants to stay. What's going
(05:02):
to happen. I really think he's he's gonna be gone.
I believe he wants to go to the Miami Dolphins
because of that area. But even if he doesn't go
to the Dolphins, I believe he feels that the grass
is greener on the other side and he'll find another team,
whether it's it's your Raiders or the Cardinals or whoever.
(05:25):
To be honest with you, I think he wants to
take the next step and and and leave Baltimore.
Speaker 3 (05:31):
Now, just can I raise my hand? Are you hearing
from a lot of raven fans that's say they want
him gone?
Speaker 6 (05:39):
I feel that, you know when you use it's it's
also on Twitter too well, but you know what they
But it's only a lot of it's recently because he
wasn't playing through the injuries, you know, And a lot
of the talk shows are like, man, I get in
him and say you're gonna play with a bruise or not?
Speaker 5 (05:57):
How could you sit it out? And the fans will like, yeah,
you tell him I'm going to be sitting it out.
And I understand the frustration with the fans, but I
believe the fans are ready to go ahead and make
the next step. Member It wasn't like he was crushing
it in the playoffs, to be honest, all right, And
by the way, I think it will happen. I I
do no. I had Jason when I was filling We
(06:18):
had Jason Cole on Friday, and he kind of took
me to taskit. I ain't not going anywhere and this
is not gonna happen. I think he is going to
be gone. I think some other team will or he'll
find the way to get out of Baltimore and go
somewhere else.
Speaker 3 (06:32):
Now, you know, I love you, and you know I
love doing a show with you. Jason Cole is an
NFL reporter who talks to teams front off. Is that
what he doess? People, I didn't know that I had.
You're just going off your gut right now. So it's
just I mean, you can argue with him all you want,
but so far you've cited a few people.
Speaker 5 (06:51):
You he speaks to, uh, what's his name, the the
GM of Baltimore, Piscott, Piscotti or something. What's his name again,
I forget off the top of my head. Or is
that the cookie?
Speaker 4 (07:06):
Eric da Costa is the general manager, the owner.
Speaker 5 (07:09):
Not him. Yeah, so he says he speaks to the Yeah,
so that probably carries a lot of weight.
Speaker 4 (07:18):
But you still don't argue with him, right, Yeah?
Speaker 5 (07:20):
Of course, absolutely absolutely, I'm gonna I'm gonna still I'm
not gonna back.
Speaker 4 (07:24):
That with that.
Speaker 3 (07:25):
I don't care about your team sourced notes or your
conversation with the owners. I saw a guy on Twitter
that's a Ravens fan that's mad about it. I think
they're moving on from Rob.
Speaker 5 (07:35):
The raven fan said something different, So how dare you again.
Speaker 3 (07:39):
I'm not saying I'm not knocking I'm not knocking Ny
or I'm not saying Jason's always right Jason cole it is.
Speaker 4 (07:45):
I'm just saying I think it's kind of interesting.
Speaker 3 (07:47):
You know, there was a lot of people, maybe as
early as last year, that we're saying, Oh, the Ravens
can't wait to move on from Mark Andrews, and they're
shopping Mark Andrews.
Speaker 4 (07:57):
And YadA, YadA, YadA.
Speaker 3 (07:58):
Right, Well, they sign him to a three year contract extension,
you know, and early.
Speaker 5 (08:03):
I don't think the team wants to get rid of him.
I really do believe. I think it's Lamar And for
some reason, I just feel it's just the body language here,
I don't know, just the lack of him not playing
with the bruise, and I just feel like he wants
out of Baltimore and he's ready to start a new
chapter somewhere else. Okay, maybe I'm misreading the all situation.
Speaker 4 (08:25):
Maybe you are.
Speaker 5 (08:27):
By the way, what about all those leak stories that
got out there that they have to change, you know,
practices and stuff like that. What about all those leak stories,
Where did they come from?
Speaker 4 (08:38):
I don't know what. I'm not familiar with the game.
You're spitting right now.
Speaker 3 (08:42):
I wasn't aware that they were having to change practices
around in Baltimore because of Lamar Jackson.
Speaker 5 (08:46):
Yeah, I mean that was one of the rumors out there.
And you know these stories come from somewhere. Somebody leaks
them on purpose from the team. I I don't know.
Something's not right there, Chris. You could tell something's not
right there with him not playing, the losing, it just
doesn't didn't feel right. I just don't think he's gonna
(09:06):
be that. You can fight with VJ about Laura. I
know that's one of your guy's favorite fights.
Speaker 3 (09:11):
Okay, let's skip the play, slip this, skip the coaches
till next second.
Speaker 5 (09:15):
Okay, okay, okay.
Speaker 4 (09:16):
Staying or gone? Tua.
Speaker 5 (09:21):
I believe Tua in his mind now wants to leave. Also,
I think he's talked himself into that. I feel he
talked himself into like, Hey, they don't respect me, they
don't believe in me, and I think.
Speaker 4 (09:35):
They bitched him. They blamed him for everything. You're right
on this one.
Speaker 5 (09:39):
Well, and look what they've done to him at the
end of the season now. And I understand why they
wanted to try out Quinn yours because the season, like
you said, is over, But still that's still kind of
upsetting just to go ahead and and beat bench to that.
I believe he's ready to go ahead and try another
chapter in his life. I believe the fans are ready.
The Dolphin fans are it is say enough is enough.
(10:02):
We do like Tua, but we think that you should
go somewhere else and try dating somebody else. I believe
the team wants to move on from Dua, the coach
wants to move on from Dua. And what's going to
happen is the Dolphins will move on from DUA. I
don't know how it's gonna work out, and how they'll
do it with a trade or you know, how to
(10:24):
save money from the cap and how all that's going
to work. But I do think he's gonna end up
on another team, and very well could be your Raiders
when it's all said, I.
Speaker 4 (10:33):
Think it could be.
Speaker 3 (10:34):
I think the Raiders would be an interesting fit for him.
But you know, you saw the report from and listen.
I know that you followed it Dolphins Wire, but this
was also Ian Rappaport that basically said they could simply
cut him, they could eat ninety nine million dollars worth
(10:56):
of dead cap money over the next two years, which
keep in mind that's what the Broncos did with Russell Wilson,
or they could try to trade him, eat some of
the money and then maybe have to give up an
asset as well.
Speaker 5 (11:10):
I didn't know it was ninety nine million. I thought
if there was a certain date they could save and
it'd only be like sixty. I don't know it. It's
so much money, though, Chris. It's so much money to eat,
but you gotta move on.
Speaker 3 (11:21):
Sooner with that's ninety nine million dollars in debt cap
that they would obviously have to eat.
Speaker 5 (11:27):
Sounds like monopoly money. Is when you bring that up
like that, you know it's just not mail. Well nine
nine mail.
Speaker 3 (11:33):
You said you thought you heard that it was like
fifty to sixty mil. Well, it's fifty four mil and
twenty twenty six or fifty five point four million in
twenty twenty six, it's forty three point eight mil.
Speaker 5 (11:43):
Okay, So that's what I'm thinking about.
Speaker 4 (11:45):
In twenty twenty seven.
Speaker 5 (11:46):
So you don't get to just save yourself on the
back ear if you get rid of it this year.
Is that what you're telling me? No, No, okay, because
I thought it was like fifty four mail. Okay, I
can deal with that. Now you're told me it's nine
to nine mail. But it's not coming out of my body,
and so what do I care?
Speaker 3 (12:01):
He had sixty seven million dollars. Here was a report
from earlier this week. Off the field, Tua has remained
a fixture in the building and his work ethic doesn't
appear to be a major issue. But no, yeah, he
ranked thirtieth in QBR and in the previous two years
he ranked tenth and fifteenth.
Speaker 4 (12:23):
So that's problematic.
Speaker 3 (12:25):
So you say, twenty twenty six, Tua not in your dolphin.
Speaker 4 (12:31):
Oh no, the.
Speaker 5 (12:32):
Zero chance of that's happening. That's not going to happen
at all.
Speaker 3 (12:35):
You're catching a theme here, A lot of quarterbacks on
this list. So let's continue here with staying or gone.
Speaker 4 (12:42):
Kyler Murray. Now I do want to pause here for
a moment.
Speaker 3 (12:45):
Basically, you have all these guys gone, so I don't
know who's going to play quarterback for Baltimore or for
Miami next year, but their starting quarterbacks are not going
to be there. So is Kyler Murray the starting quarterback
at Arizona?
Speaker 4 (12:56):
I say no next year? What's say you? No? Heat?
Speaker 5 (12:59):
Matter of fact, one, if I'm Kyler Murray. I think
it's in his head also that he's no longer wanted
by the organization, the fans. He feels like he's getting
a bad knock. He also is undergone some injuries. And
of course, sure the rumors came out about him in
the you know, playing games, gaming and Madden Games or
(13:20):
whatever it was, and you know how they had to
deal with that.
Speaker 4 (13:23):
It wasn't Madden. It was a good old fashioned shoot
him up games.
Speaker 5 (13:26):
Oh my bad. I'm sorry, but I do appreciate that.
So I believe he feels he's not being appreciated. I
think the fans say goodbye, it's time for you to
move We're ready to move on and start with a
fresh chapter. The team is ready to move on, I believe,
and they're ready to start a fresh chapter. And when
(13:47):
it's all said and done, Chris, I believe he'll be
moved out, shipped out, free agent, whatever, you want to
call it and find some other team. Where can that
team be? Once again, the Dolphins, maybe your Raiders. Again,
your Raiders don't have the number one pick, But can
you start a rookie quarterback as a p You know
(14:09):
that's a possibility. But I think Murray has gone goodbye.
His days are over with the Arizona Cardinals.
Speaker 4 (14:15):
So I again there's an internet rumor, you.
Speaker 5 (14:20):
Know, Theeves, Pittsburgh could sign one of these guys if
they don't want to bring back I'll just say Roethlisberger,
if they didn't want to bring back Rogers.
Speaker 3 (14:29):
You you think that maybe Pittsburgh could be in play
a guy.
Speaker 4 (14:34):
Like Kyler Murray.
Speaker 3 (14:35):
Possibility our buddy Benjamin Albright, whom a big fan of
and Denver haven't had a chance to talk to him
in a while, but he had floated, I think at
the very least. And again it's it's something that I
think every single time that you dive into it, that
you think you could throw stuff off the wall and
(14:56):
see if it sticks.
Speaker 4 (14:57):
Whenever the Raiders sent out the.
Speaker 3 (15:01):
Tweet about Max Crosby and hey, he's going to go
on injured reserve, he theorized and maybe Max Crosby goes
to Arizona this offseason for Kyler Murray and some draft picks.
Speaker 5 (15:14):
It doesn't seem like a fair trade, does it.
Speaker 4 (15:16):
No, No at all.
Speaker 3 (15:20):
But I mean, if Max Crosby is going to Arizona
and you're getting Kyler Murray and you're also getting some
draft picks, then maybe I'm hearing that conversation.
Speaker 5 (15:30):
But I don't like he's not going to get traded.
Speaker 3 (15:33):
I think Max Crosby's going to be I think he
was pissed. I think, gosh, I'm cussing a lot tonight.
This is I get my mom's house. We're in a
safe harbor though, right Is that what we learned in
all of our training safe harbor area? So I'm sorry,
I'm sorry, guys, I'm watching my botty mouth tonight.
Speaker 4 (15:48):
But I think even the reportering that's around it was, Hey,
Max was mad. I'm glad he was mad.
Speaker 3 (15:56):
I don't want him to be happy, but he went
home and he was back at the facility today.
Speaker 4 (16:00):
Hopefully they'd be good to go.
Speaker 5 (16:01):
One of the not rumors, I guess one of the
reasons was my little twittersphere of people are saying that
Max Crosby has dealings or business dealings with Tom Brady
and oh yeah and stuff right, and that that's why
he's gonna say, forget about it. I want to be
here with the Raiders with Tom and and stuff like this.
(16:22):
That is that true? I didn't know that, yes, very much.
Speaker 4 (16:25):
Okay, all right, so Caler Murray is on this list.
Speaker 3 (16:27):
Uh, you don't have a position player, so we don't
have to worry about talking about Max Crosby.
Speaker 4 (16:32):
But how are we on time here?
Speaker 5 (16:34):
I bring up one real quick rumor today that somebody
was bringing up that they thought that Travis Kelcey was
Rob Gronkowski, that he thought that. He said, Travis Kelcey,
not only should he come back, but he should entertain
playing for another team. Considering if Mahomes isn't going to
be back till halfway through the season, and you're only
gonna have one year left, you should consider playing for
(16:57):
a Super Bowl contender and going somewhere else.
Speaker 4 (17:00):
Send him to Vegas? All right?
Speaker 3 (17:02):
You have Jackson Dart on this list. I don't really
know if that's a necessary conversation Colin would think, So,
why why he's not that dude.
Speaker 5 (17:11):
Colin Coward?
Speaker 4 (17:12):
What he's not what dude, the dude, the guy, the man.
Speaker 5 (17:16):
No, there's talk that you know. I was listening to
Colin that they could very well if they don't get
the number one pick, if they had the number one pick,
maybe they would trade it and you know, or trade
Jackson Dart and use the number one pick for themselves and.
Speaker 3 (17:30):
Who knows, Well, they're not going to have the number
one pick in the.
Speaker 5 (17:34):
Draft, right, but they could have the number two pick, right.
Speaker 3 (17:38):
But I mean, you think that there is a chance
that they could try to go out and trade Jackson
Dart move on from him after half a season where
I think he's kind of inspired a little bit of hope.
Speaker 5 (17:50):
I guess it depends on who the Raiders take with
the number one pick and who they want.
Speaker 3 (17:54):
Well, the Raiders are going to take a quarterback, right,
so you would have second which quarterback?
Speaker 4 (17:58):
Yeah?
Speaker 5 (17:59):
Which quarterback? And the ones?
Speaker 4 (18:00):
You know which Well, Dante or hasn't even declared for
the draft yet.
Speaker 5 (18:03):
But that's the one you want to the Raiders.
Speaker 4 (18:05):
Though I don't care for Mendoza or more, I'm fine
with either one.
Speaker 5 (18:08):
I got a feeling if the Raiders can or if
the if they could take the if the Giants can
get Mendoza, they would consider them getting rid of Jackson Dart.
Speaker 3 (18:17):
I think right now, as we sit here on what
is the date today, Decembler, Well, it's the thirtieth now,
as we sit here on December thirtieth year of our Lord,
twenty twenty five, I think Fernando Mendoz is going to
be the starting quarterback for the Raiders, and I want
him to be the starting quarterback for the Raiders. And
I don't think they're going to be in the game
of making trades for Kyler Murray or anyone like that.
Speaker 4 (18:39):
And I don't think that the Giants.
Speaker 3 (18:41):
I think the Giants are going to bring in a
coach to try to get Jackson Dart right. I think
that they're going to go and get good defensive help,
maybe if it's Reuben Bain out of Miami or Arville
Reese out of Ohio State, or even gosh, Caleb Downs
who's just start out of Ohio State.
Speaker 4 (18:55):
I think that's what the Giants are going to do.
Speaker 5 (18:58):
If the Giants do that, that's fine. I like Jackson Dart.
I am worried about the way he runs, though I'm
worried about I mean, look, I've seen the going on
with Tua, and that's the last thing you need with
somebody like Jackson.
Speaker 3 (19:11):
Well, Jackson darts a hell of a lot more mobile
than Tua was and is one one more yeah, quarterback here?
Do you have Joe Burrow on this list? The Raiders
have the number one pick in the draft. Do you
at the very least call the Bengals and say I
got them one pick in the draft if you would
be willing to give up Joe Burrow?
Speaker 5 (19:32):
Who would say? No? The Bengals are the Raiders? The Bengals, No,
they would not. Are you serious?
Speaker 4 (19:42):
Do you think.
Speaker 5 (19:45):
They can get the kid from Indiana and start fresh
and don't have to pay their quarterback at gazillion dollars
along with their wide receivers?
Speaker 4 (19:53):
What are you?
Speaker 5 (19:54):
What are you kidding me? They're not gonna They're not
gonna say no.
Speaker 3 (20:00):
You're telling me right now that the Bengals would trade
Joe Burrow for the number one pick in the draft.
Speaker 5 (20:05):
I would do it. You would be our liars tomorrow,
our listeners.
Speaker 4 (20:09):
Would do it. No, they wouldn't.
Speaker 5 (20:11):
Now you'd have to get a little bit more. I'm
not just saying straight up for the number one pick. Dude,
you have to get a little bit more.
Speaker 3 (20:16):
You you fight and scratch and claw to get the
opportunity to draft a guy like Joe Burrow. I think
you continue to do everything you can to make him happy, healthy,
and protect him. I don't think you ever think about
trading him ever. I think he's your dude, and you
take care of him. Why are you always trying to
trade him?
Speaker 5 (20:37):
It's not that I'm always trying to trade always trying
to trade him because I do like him, But I
do think that he's ready. Uh, he's talked himself into
I think I would kind of like to want to
play somewhere else.
Speaker 3 (20:49):
Like you have more conversations with these guys than the
people that cover the team.
Speaker 5 (20:54):
Yeah, Jason Cole talks to a lot of Bee. What
about the people I have imaginary talks with.
Speaker 3 (20:59):
Come on, man, I think if they traded, if Joe
Burrow feeling.
Speaker 5 (21:06):
That Joe Burrow, I mean, if I get if you
had a million dollars, I said, you got a bet.
Which way you think Joe Burrow thinks he wants to
stay into society or he'd rather play somewhere else. What
are you betting on. You're not gonna tell me, just
say they're.
Speaker 3 (21:19):
Gonna bet a million dollars on the way a guy
is thinking, I'm gonna go bet on a performance. I mean,
you're the one that's trying to get inside their head
right now.
Speaker 5 (21:26):
I mean we have to, Yeah, exactly.
Speaker 3 (21:28):
I think that everyone's pretty happy there right now, and
we'll see what happens. Was Zach Taty got hurt this
year and they actually played decent out of the gates,

Speaker 3 (23:38):
Now, before we get to these coaches for one final
time tonight, let's welcome in Steve de Sager to get
us caught up in all the news notes and tidbits
with what's trending.
Speaker 4 (23:46):
What's going on?
Speaker 8 (23:46):
Steve, Well, we'll start with the NBA injury as Denver
lost one for three at Miami. Nicola jokiccha the Nuggets
left with the knee injury. They're waiting for imaging tomorrow
to find out the extent of it. Apparently they've got
another road game this week, but they were on the
road tonight. His coach, David Adaman would just say, I
know it's a left knee injury. Watching it at halftime,
(24:09):
it looked like his feet got tangled up with a
teammate in the lane to the NFL and can I
mention there's three great tweets to pass along one from
Associated Press. Keep in mind AP is the one that
gives out the NFL MVP Award every year. It's their
panel that votes, and they note a quarterback has won
MVP the last twelve seasons in a row. Not just
(24:32):
that nine of those twelve years it's the quarterback on
a number one seed winning MVP and the other three
times it's quarterback for a two seed like Josh Allen
last year. Well, Matthew Stafford is not going to be
maybe in the top five seeds in the NFC playoffs
this year.
Speaker 4 (24:51):
Wow.
Speaker 8 (24:52):
Three interceptions including a pick six in the first half,
two touchdown passes, but Stafford and the Rams were upset
at Atlanta tonight seven four. I will say, as far
as MVP voting voters for anything, it's the whole season
you're voting on. Stafford's awful first half tonight is included
on his resume, as is Drake May's opening game of
(25:13):
the season when he lost to the Raiders.
Speaker 5 (25:15):
Of all the favorite, Drake May is the favorite now.
Speaker 8 (25:18):
Drake May's offense did not have a touchdown after the
first quarter in that game against the Raiders. That is
the game that's going to cost them the one seed
in a tiebreaker with Denver, because Denver beat the Raiders twice.
And it's looking like the Houston Texans will be the
five seed in the AFC, in other words, the best
of the non division winners. The way it stands right now,
(25:39):
they're eleven to five. They would have a tiebreaker over
Buffalo and the Chargers behind them in the standings because
they've beaten those two teams head to head, including winning
in La this past weekend. As we mentioned last night,
the Texans have the number one defense in the NFL
this season. The Chargers in the first half Saturday seven
drives six first downs, although I will say for the
(26:01):
Texans offense, after those two early long bombs for touchdowns,
the next ten drives for Houston they were all about
thirty yards or less each, So there is that. Well,
the Denver Broncos can clinch the one seed in the
AFC with a victory this weekend, and yes, it would
win a tiebreaker over the Patriots, and the Chargers announced
(26:22):
they will rest their star quarterback Justin Herbert for the
road game this Sunday and Yes, the Broncos have already
clinched the AFC West title. Trey Lance will start for
LA with the Chargers patchwork offensive line. Herbert has been
sacked fifty four times this year.
Speaker 4 (26:38):
Wow.
Speaker 8 (26:38):
He's also been playing with a broken left hand recently.
The Ravens say this week's status of quarterback Lamar Jackson
with the Bruce back is to be determined. Baltimore ends
the regular season schedule Sunday night at Pittsburgh. That'll decide
the AFC North title. Can I mention these two other
tweets that I found? One is you were talking about? Yes,
it's likely that now that game in Las Vegas happened,
(27:01):
that the Raiders will get the number one overall draft choice.
Today's news is that quarterback Gino Smith, after yesterday's ankle injury,
is likely out this week and against the Chiefs will.
Speaker 4 (27:11):
Be got Damn.
Speaker 8 (27:12):
The Chiefs will be starting a third string quarterback. Yes,
Raiders could draft number one overall in the spring, but
there is a way that the Giants can still get
the one pick O. The Raiders would of course have
to not be themselves and actually win the game on Sunday.
The Giants would have to of course, lose another game
(27:33):
they're facing the Cowboys, and then on a list of
four teams, two of those four would have to win,
so there is mathematically a chance. What I love is
the mathematical thing we brought up earlier that there's three
different ways the Carolina Panthers concluse the NFC South this weekend,
one of which includes them not winning on Saturday. Obviously,
(27:54):
if Carolina wins at Tampa Bay Saturday, they take the
NFC South, they get a home playoff game as the
four Sea. Another way they get in is if Atlanta
wins on Sunday, a tie would also get them win.
And the other way is if Atlanta wins on Sunday
and it's finale against the Saints. You see, that would
provide a three way tie, and Carolina would advance with
(28:16):
a three way tie with three eight and nine teams
in that division. So longtime NFL writer Greg Rosenthal tweets,
you know, the near fifty year Falcons Saints' rivalry has
all been leading up to this moment Sun when they
decide the NFC South title, a title that neither of those.
Speaker 5 (28:36):
Two teams can win.
Speaker 4 (28:37):
It's crazy.
Speaker 5 (28:38):
That is crazy, Miami should get in. They're going to
be eight and nine that should be get into.
Speaker 8 (28:42):
Come on, absolutely wrong division. If they were just I
don't care they're in the region, They're just not in
the right conference. The Falcons got up to seven and
nine with the home win against the Rams twenty seven
to twenty four on the fifty one yard field goal
with under thirty seconds left. B John Robinson nearly two
hundred yards rushing by the way. Quarterback Marcus Mariota with
Washington quad and hand injury as has yet to return
(29:05):
to full speed movement. Washington's at Philadelphia Sunday. He missed
walkthrough today. There's still a chance Vikings quarterback JJ McCarthy,
after a broken hand, can play this Sunday against Green Bay.
Houston will play at starters Sunday. The Colts say they're
still deciding on a starting quarterback for Sunday. Reportedly it
will be Riley Leonard. Dallas will start quarterback Dak Prescott
(29:26):
again Sunday at the Giants. Bengals QB Joe Burrow will
play in their season finale against the Browns. Bears linebacker
Noah Sewell is believed to have a torn achilles and
wide receiver Luther Burden of Chicago hurt on the final
play last night, believed to quote just have a quad injury,
not as serious. Packers linebacker Micah Parson said he was
(29:47):
having his surgery today on the torn ACL. Patriots first
round tackle Will Campbell could return to practice this week.
He's on IR with a knee injury. Notre Dame coach
Marcus Freeman is staying with an enhanced contract. Reportedly, the
new defensive coordinator at Penn State will be Danton Lynn
from USC.
Speaker 4 (30:04):
He went to Penn State.
Speaker 8 (30:06):
Auburn wide receiver Cam Coleman will transfer. More Bowl games
on Tuesday, including Tennessee in Nashville against Illinois. The University
of Miami plays Wednesday, New Year's Eve at the Cotton
Bowl quarter final against number two Ohio State. The late
NBA game to Portland over Dallas one twenty five, one
twenty two, New York one again at New Orleans, Oklahoma
(30:28):
City one again beating Atlanta. Victories for Houston and Minnesota,
NHL wins from Minnesota and Colorado, and former heavyweight boxing
champ Anthony Joshua is hospitalized in stable condition after a
car accident in Nigeria.
Speaker 4 (30:43):
Back to you. Scary stuff. All right, thanks Steve. Have
a great week, Fundy. Thank you. Enjoy the New Year's
I don't get to hang with you again until Sunday.
Speaker 5 (30:50):
I gave you New Year's off, right, Steve, you have
New Year's off.
Speaker 8 (30:54):
I'm always off on that day of the week.
Speaker 5 (30:56):
But thank you for You're welcome here. You're welcome. Enjoy you.
Speaker 8 (30:59):
If you really are the guy in charge, can I
just tell you what an awful thing you did by
laying off half the anchor staff a year ago. And
it's why I didn't give you any maple syrup for
Christmas this year.
Speaker 4 (31:14):
I love it.
Speaker 3 (31:15):
Thanks Steve, Thanks Steve. All right, Arnie, you've got a
couple of coaches here to talk about. Okay, Yatty, this
is the final uh you had ten? The only one
I didn't get to I think on this was what
you had. Malik willis on there.
Speaker 5 (31:30):
Yes, yeah, he.
Speaker 4 (31:31):
Had one good game. So now you're ready to give
him a lifetime contract.
Speaker 5 (31:34):
Open up the bank, open up the pocketbook for him.
There's gonna be a lot of teams that are going
to want him there, and I believe he's gonna want
to be the starter. Somewhere or at least, you know,
compete more than he is going in Green Bay. I
think every player wants to be a st right, So
I was gonna say that's the easy one. He he'll
be somewhere else.
Speaker 3 (31:54):
There's right Pete Carroll buying her sellings, sorry, not buying
her staying or I think he's long gone.
Speaker 5 (32:02):
A couple of things on this. First of all, obviously
he wants to come on back. I believe the fans
definitely want him gone. They're like, okay, let's let's get
in the right direction. He's gone and started new the team.
I'm not so sure. At first, I thought that they
kind of want him to gone and they want to
go in a new direction. I kind of get the
(32:22):
feeling now they're like, you know what, let's do this
one more year. We'll get him a quarterback. Let's see
if we can get better obviously from last year, let's
bring him back for one more year. So I'm not
so sure the team is going to fire him. I
get the feeling he's going to come back for another year. Chris,
what do you think?
Speaker 4 (32:40):
Why are you doing this to me? Tonight A great show.
We've had a fun show.
Speaker 3 (32:44):
I think we've got along well, so last time we
get to work together until next Sunday.
Speaker 5 (32:48):
That's true. That's true.
Speaker 3 (32:49):
And you want to put this on me right now,
that Pete Carroll's going to be back with this.
Speaker 4 (32:53):
I do.
Speaker 5 (32:53):
I used to think he was like ninety percent gone,
But part of me feels now that the front office
is like, look, we got a lot. First of all,
how many how many coaches are they paying right now?
Speaker 3 (33:05):
The Raiders Antonio Piers, John Gruten, and Josh McDaniels.
Speaker 4 (33:10):
So just three?
Speaker 5 (33:11):
Just three?
Speaker 3 (33:11):
Ye, Daniel was was pro rated somewhat because he got
a new gig. May have actually got him paid off.
Speaker 4 (33:19):
Now.
Speaker 3 (33:19):
Gruten was a lump sum, right, So maybe it's just
Antonio Pierce.
Speaker 4 (33:24):
To be honest with you.
Speaker 5 (33:25):
Yeah, I'm not so sure they want to just keep
doing this. I think they're gonna give him one more year.
I again, like I said, a couple of weeks ago,
I would have said he's a goner. I think he's
coming back. I think it's better than fifty percent.
Speaker 4 (33:37):
Can I tell you why I would agree with you
on this?
Speaker 5 (33:40):
All right? Tell me why the.
Speaker 4 (33:41):
Way they played against Houston.
Speaker 3 (33:43):
I think the way they played against Houston was a
moment where everyone looked around and goes, we got to
start benching some people. We got to get some people injured.
Jeremy Chan you're out, Brock Bauers, you're out. Max Crosby
go home. We're too close to winning a game, and
we need a quarterback. And I think that Pete is
learning a little bit to kind of pull back. And
(34:05):
I don't think he let Patrick Graham call the offense
that a defense that he needed a call.
Speaker 4 (34:10):
I don't know.
Speaker 3 (34:10):
I just there's a part of me that would not
be surprised by it. But he's all dude, he's like
seventy two. I mean, what are we doing here?
Speaker 5 (34:18):
I think it's they make him retire.
Speaker 4 (34:23):
I'm liking this Green Bay rule more.
Speaker 5 (34:24):
You I.
Speaker 3 (34:27):
Thought it was something a challenge in court. Now I
like it. All right, don't want to get bogged down
on Pete. Let's talk about your guy, the chemistry professor
Mike McDaniel.
Speaker 5 (34:35):
I think he's one hundred percent coming back now that
it seems like they've decided to pick him instead of Tua.
So they'll ship to out, they'll get him another quarterback.
They are playing tough. They gotta win with yours. The
team is still fighting hard for him. I believe they
like him. They could have gotten rid of him when
(34:55):
he was one and six kind of turn the things around.
I believe he's going to come back for another year
with the Dolphins.
Speaker 4 (35:02):
And how do you feel about that?
Speaker 5 (35:05):
I'm okay with it. You know, there's so much more
I'm worried about with the quarterback situation. So if they
want to bring him back and let him undergo the transition,
I'm fine with it. But otherwise, you know, we got
to worry about the quarterback and getting rid of Tyreek Hill.
And I'm just writing all that stuff right now.
Speaker 4 (35:26):
Aaron Glenn, I think he's coming back.
Speaker 5 (35:30):
Oh, I was gonna say, I think he's gone.
Speaker 4 (35:32):
I wouldn't argue with it, though.
Speaker 5 (35:33):
Yeah, I think he's like ninety percent gone. I believe
the fans want him gone, and I think in his mind,
obviously he wants to come back for another year. But
I think in his mind he realizes that it's going
to be tough. Things obviously have looked awful. He does
himself no favors when he gets up in the podium
(35:54):
or speaks to the press. He really just does himself
no favors in that situation. I don't know. They Jets
have so much to take care of. I think they're
gonna get rid of him and go in another direction.
Speaker 4 (36:07):
One more, one more Kevin Stefanski.
Speaker 5 (36:11):
No, I think they'll keep him. I think they they'll
bring back Chadur and they'll bring back Stefanski. They'll let
your Dur kind of like try to win the job
and to be their starting quarterback. Stefanski will be there
alongside of him when they decide that Tradeur isn't the answer.
Maybe they'll get rid of him both. But I think
they'll go ahead and bring back Stefanski for another year.
Speaker 4 (36:36):
We got two segments out of that. I like you.
Speaker 3 (36:38):
There is the Stinkin' Geniuses News segment Staying Are Gone,
where we hit all the big names heading in to
the NFL silly season. When we come back, some final
tweets and Arnie's picks to take us home right here
on Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 5 (37:55):

Speaker 4 (37:57):
For a minute, yeah, I know who got scheduled tomorrow night.
Speaker 5 (38:02):
I forget Brian, No, I think.
Speaker 4 (38:04):
No, it's me all right? So are you at you? Thanks?
You always claim you give.
Speaker 3 (38:10):
Brian know all the scoops and all the great lines
and all the great spreads. So here you go with
another opportunity Arnie, take it away, what you got for
your picks?
Speaker 4 (38:17):
Tonight?
Speaker 5 (38:18):
Let's go. We're just gonna go with the college games.
A little short on time, give me a little music.
Can you put me in the mood? Please?
Speaker 4 (38:24):
Michael short on time? How much time you need for
your picks? You got?
Speaker 5 (38:27):
Well, we only have two minutes of Miami playing Ohio State.
It's the Cotton Bowl. Ohio State, that one, nine and
that point favorite over on the forty and a half.
I made the game a little bit closer. I had
Ohio State yesterday when we got off the air, winning
by about seventeen. I now closed the gap a little bit.
I have Ohio's day winning thirty one twenty.
Speaker 4 (38:46):
So lift work in the lab has changed your opinion
on this?
Speaker 5 (38:50):
Yeah, so lay the nine and a half, go over
the forty and a half. That's my best pick on
that one. Oregon against Texas tech out in the r
And Bowl. That's gonna be a New Year's Day. I'm
keeping that one the same. Still think it's a high
scoring affair. Oregon two and a half, fifty one and
a half. I got Oregon covering by half a point
(39:11):
forty four forty one over Texas tech and way over.
Go with the extended line on this one. Bet the
over fifty one and a half, the over sixty one
and a half, the over seventy one and a half,
and get rich, kiddies. Alabama and Indiana Indiana seven point favorite.
Speaker 4 (39:31):
The one and a half. What are you doing?
Speaker 5 (39:33):
Yeah, you can go up nineteen points on the mean
alternate line. Okay, don't question me, Chris.
Speaker 4 (39:41):
Yeah, I'm sorry. You know I've been read how it
happened again?
Speaker 5 (39:44):
Alabama again, Indiana forty eight and a half is the
over under. Chris, we got a slight problem on this.
Speaker 4 (39:50):
What's that.
Speaker 5 (39:52):
I did a one eighty because of your buddy Ryan
Fowler upset special number one. I don't want to seven,
need the seven. I'm not taking the seventh. I may
take the seventh. Alabama to beat Indiana at the rose Ball,
(40:12):
As your buddy Ryan Fower said, it's kind of a
new feeling now after what happened in the Oklahoma game.
Alabama's got that new moxie to walking with a little
bit of a hitch in their step and they're ready
to roll. Give me Alabama to win the game and
the last one. Georgia six and a half fifty five
and a half over old miss. That one's gonna be
(40:34):
in the Sugar Bowl. Give me Georgia winning that game
thirty four to thirty one, over ole miss. So there
you have my picks, do them as you please, no
longer strictly for entertainment purposes.
Speaker 3 (40:45):
Only got a lot of high scoring games. Yeah that's right,
four games in the playoffs set. Wow, haven't really been
high storing historically high scoring historically in this round. So
we'll see. Well now but the rest of the week.
I'll be back with you tomorrow night in for Ben Mallor.
But Brian's got you for the next four on Fox
Sports Radio.
