Speaker 1 (00:29):
Welcome inside final hour tonight, The Jason Smith Show with
my bes friend Mike Harmon. Big deals going on tonight.
In the NBA, we finally saw a home team win
a game. Congratulations, Hay, yeah, job, great job. Oklahoma City
thunder eighty seven point first half. Think about this, eighty
seven points in the first half and the Knicks Celtics
(00:52):
final score was ninety one to ninety Just.
Speaker 3 (00:55):
Hit me about that for a second. At least they tried.
It's a little bit.
Speaker 1 (01:03):
We got different styles going on. We're back in the
nineteen nineties right now in the Eastern Conference, Mike. We're
back there where basketball was great, round ball rock was everywhere,
and Marv Albert's voice is on every promo.
Speaker 3 (01:14):
We're back in the nineties.
Speaker 4 (01:15):
Well we're gonna get Ai Marv to go on top
of the old round ball rock. Sure, you got the
announcer coming like, you got a lot of things going on, right,
and presentation in the graphics and whatever, and and aesthetically
two very different games. In the end, you've got Denver
(01:35):
never got off the bus. And for the Celtics, history
repeats itself.
Speaker 3 (01:41):
You learn nothing.
Speaker 4 (01:42):
Forty eight hours is you know, is a lot to
take in, you know, and really adapt and change, they
say take making a habit and changing a lifestyle takes
what minimum the thirty days of repetition. So I don't
think the Celtics will be around long enough to really
learn their lesson At.
Speaker 1 (01:59):
This point, how many days have I been saying, hey,
Nick Pacers Eastern Conference Finals.
Speaker 3 (02:04):
Like this like fourth day now? But now fun doesn't matter.
Speaker 1 (02:08):
If now fine, it's like, oh wait a minute, he
was onto something four days ago.
Speaker 3 (02:12):
I laughed. Four days ago, he was onto something New York.
Speaker 4 (02:16):
But there's a difference between logic analysis and fever dream.
There's a chasm. Eventually, sometimes they do run back together.
Speaker 3 (02:24):
They all need to be it's okay.
Speaker 1 (02:26):
It could be thirty three percent analysis thirty three percent
fever dream.
Speaker 3 (02:30):
You can break it up evenly. I'm okay with that.
Speaker 4 (02:32):
No, no, I'm digging what you're laying down though. I
mean because now if that happens, we know we at
least have two teams that really don't like each other.
Coming out of the two minute review of that Pacers game,
there's a lot of angry people.
Speaker 1 (02:48):
And now looking now, we got Frostburg turning heel rooting
for the Knicks, where all he's done is make fun
of the Knicks for the last ten years.
Speaker 3 (02:54):
You know what else sucks, Jason?
Speaker 1 (02:55):
What's that? Frostburg? The Knicks? Oh okay, you know else
really sucks Jason? Who's that the Knicks?
Speaker 3 (03:00):
Oh? Yeah, No, Now he's rooting for?
Speaker 1 (03:02):
Then he's turned heel because it's got the Celtics in
an O two hole.
Speaker 3 (03:07):
But is he doing it to put the voodoo on
your score?
Speaker 5 (03:09):
No?
Speaker 4 (03:11):
Psychological, No, that he's putting on you.
Speaker 3 (03:14):
No Laker fan wants the Celtics to win anything?
Speaker 4 (03:17):
No, no, no, remember I mean, look, the only thing
they would do is vanquish the Knicks at this point. No, no, no, right,
they're not winning a title because of this.
Speaker 1 (03:25):
I remember when when the when the Lakers played the
Celtics in the in the NBA Finals, and they asked
Kobe about the about the rivalry, right, they asked about
the rivalry and and he said, it was before the
it was before the second ye know, they lost them
the first year and they beat them the second year.
(03:46):
It was before the second year. And they said, hey,
you know before the finals. And he said, hey, you know,
what what do you make of the rivalry with the
with the Lakers and the Celtics. And he said, you
know so much of this, Like look, last year they're
a really good team. We played them, you know, but
but you know, they beat up us and they got it.
Now we got a chance, we got to go back
at them. But the whole history thing, you know, I mean,
it's not me, it's it's before my time. It's other
(04:06):
players that you know, you go, you're going back, you know,
to the nineties and the eighties with most of it.
So I don't really see it there. And they kept
asking about it, like throughout the series, he kept saying,
this is new. It's our team. It's this, it's that,
it's not anything else. It's our team that was so
long ago. And then when they won in the I
remember this and the and they won in the post
game and someone said so, And I don't know if
(04:27):
there is a planted question, because someone said so, Kobe,
what about this thing? You know, did you feel like, uh,
you know, I know, you don't really uh you know,
dig into the Lakers Celtics rivalry, you know, like you
talked about. And Kobe said, oh, no, I was just
lying to you. I was just lying to you guys
for the last few days, like he knew how Manny
wanted to beat the Celtics.
Speaker 3 (04:46):
And he says not, I was just straight up lying
to you guys. Cool. I thought I thought that was
so great. Okay, now I was just lying, man I
completely was lying to you. I thought that was that
was so great.
Speaker 2 (04:58):
No leaning to it.
Speaker 3 (05:00):
It's acceptable to do so.
Speaker 1 (05:02):
So Lakers fans want it now because we're talking about
emotion here in honesty. I want to be honest here
for a couple of minutes, Mike Carmen, because I need
to here because I know that you know one thing
is everybody we listen. You got a lot of choices
at night. We love that you listen to us, and
you want me to and Mike to be real about things,
and I want.
Speaker 3 (05:17):
To be real. Yep.
Speaker 1 (05:20):
Mcal Bridges, I am sorry. I am so sorry that
I doubted you as bad a year you had offensively.
I am so sorry that during the Piston series I've
wanted to drive you to the airport. I am so
sorry that I said the two biggest changes when the
Knicks lose are gonna be tips Is gonna get fired
and Bridges gonna go someplace else. He'll be the He'll
(05:42):
be the the the centerpiece of the Yanna's trade in
the off season to be him and Mitchell Robinson and
somebody else.
Speaker 3 (05:48):
I am sorry.
Speaker 1 (05:50):
In fact, I'll give up another five first round picks
just because I want to show that I'm a good
guy and that I feel really grateful because of the
defensive plays that he has made, not just the last
couple of games, but throughout the season, but really, okay,
the last couple of games, you know, stealing the ball
in the final play both games against the Celtics to
give the Knicks a two games an un lead.
Speaker 3 (06:12):
Mcal Bridges, you are a nick. I am sorry.
Speaker 1 (06:15):
And even tonight when you started oh for eight from
the field and I said, ah, Bridges peak. But at
least we got that stealing game one. No, no, no,
I am fully on board with you. Now, I am sorry,
I apologize, And now every game the rest of the
series needs to end with you stealing the ball from
a Celtics star. Maybe Game four, maybe Game three, it'll
be white. Make game four porzingis okay, make it poorzingis
(06:36):
in the garden, so we can all walk out and
go yeah, borzingis, mate, make it him. You steal the
ball from on the final play. Mcal Bridges, I am sorry.
You are a nick for life.
Speaker 3 (06:48):
There we go.
Speaker 4 (06:48):
You got the hit list with all their photos, and
one by one you're checking them off. I did appreciate
that right in the middle of your apology. And I
and I hope all of you out there listening Global
wherever you are the iHeartRadio app all are affiliates.
Speaker 3 (07:03):
You caught it.
Speaker 4 (07:03):
Too, you know, even when you are zero for eight
today because you you couldn't resist opening the car door
as you drove past him.
Speaker 3 (07:12):
No, as you can. I'm on apology highway.
Speaker 4 (07:15):
But wait, let me open my door and make sure
I catch one last guy in my wreckage as I go.
Speaker 3 (07:23):
So, Bridges, where's that, but no, it's really big of you.
Speaker 4 (07:26):
I mean, look, you go back to the regular season,
he shot fifty percent from the field seventeen and in
point six a game. Yes, it was down two points
per game, but that's a lot of oxygen taken out
of the room. When you're talking about Cat and Jalen Brunson,
those guys need to be fed. So you know, you're
you're gonna have your your shot attempts dip a little bit,
(07:47):
You're gonna have your productivity dip a little bit. And
I know we can go through the my new shift
game by the game of potential failing moments that left
you vexed. But here, come playoff time, we'll go with
the nick got off of the bench. Because as much
as Jalen Brunson's come up with a big play, a
big you know, spotlight at a Wikipedia paragraph in each
(08:11):
of these games, he's also disappeared in spurts to where
you've needed Josh Hart to come up huge, where you've
needed Bridges to be an impact player on both ends
of the court. His fourth quarter tonight was absurd, right.
He was going full on turbo up and down the
court and launching shots in rapid fire succession six to
(08:33):
ten from the field in that fourth quarter and willing
them back into that game. For Brunson to come back
at the two minute mark with his heroics, kat with
a big game what twenty one and seventeen, So you
got everybody together. But for you to apologize to Bridges
as you did because you want to do you were
you were going full Jets quarterback.
Speaker 3 (08:53):
On him soon as he was gone. It's not my
guy anymore.
Speaker 4 (08:57):
You're going full pauly in Goodfellow is three thousand bucks
for a lifetime.
Speaker 3 (09:03):
That's it. Time it again, you know what? Like you
come back right.
Speaker 4 (09:11):
It's like when the kids really mad at you because
you didn't let them have you know, a third dessert
or whatever. I hate you.
Speaker 3 (09:17):
Yeah, you'll be back. No, no, you'll be back eat again.
Speaker 4 (09:20):
Yeah you want to watch you your tablet or your
television or you know, use that phone that I've taken
from your possession.
Speaker 3 (09:27):
You'll come around again. I am I I am so sorry.
I am sorry.
Speaker 1 (09:33):
No I did you can't come on the you the
guy clinched the last two games for At the end,
he stole the ball from Jalen Browning knocked it away
from Jason Tatum, and really, if Game four ends with
him taking it from Chris tops Porzingis's hands, I mean
they may as well stop the play. It's never gonna
get any better for the Knicks after that, even though
we're gonna sweep the Pacers.
Speaker 3 (09:52):
I mean, it's never gonna get any better than that.
Speaker 4 (09:54):
Wow, you've already assumed the other two wins. You're assuming
just six straight wins.
Speaker 1 (10:00):
I assume the other three wins late that after Monday night,
and you were like, no, come on, come on, no
sounds only two wins at home.
Speaker 3 (10:05):
Yeah, I'm ready, man, go New York.
Speaker 4 (10:09):
But that's the only downside, right, is that you know,
we can't just you know, do a hostile takeover when
it's time for what will really feed the show, because
with about what eight minutes left, you're down what was
it fourteen?
Speaker 3 (10:25):
Oh?
Speaker 1 (10:26):
Yes, and Mitchell Robinson is throwing line drives at the
backboard and missing.
Speaker 3 (10:30):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (10:30):
No, Well, listening to us at that point and riding
the lightning for the last eight minutes would have been
glorious radio because by time you know, we actually got
on air, you were able to you know, wipe your brow,
calm yourself a minute, maybe your heart rate had gone
back somewhat towards normal.
Speaker 5 (10:48):
Uh.
Speaker 4 (10:48):
And in that time you were also turning frostburg gel
and getting Monsie on your side.
Speaker 3 (10:54):
You're building a little army here.
Speaker 1 (10:56):
Look after that, after that free throw by Robinson ended
on a twenty one to six run, like that was
really the beginning of the comeback, when it seemed like, Okay,
that's it, it's over that they always.
Speaker 3 (11:08):
You know, and they the comic relief, you know.
Speaker 1 (11:10):
And that's the thing is that the bigger point about
the Celtics is neither teams played well. We talked about
this at the very beginning of the show. Hey, it's
not like the Celtics played great in the first two
games to take those twenty point leads, right, They couldn't
hit threes in the first game. Couldn't really hit threes
in this game either. But it's not like they played great.
It's just the Knicks played really poorly. And then when
the Knicks stepped up and found their groove in late
(11:33):
in the third quarter into the fourth quarter, the Celtics
just had no answer. Like you watch their body language
and play in the games, I don't see any real
hunger or desire that you would expect the defending champs
to have, especially in the series where hey, we're bringing it.
It's the Knicks, man, it's the Knicks, and we're playing
at home. And I get that, Well, we know how
(11:55):
to win the championship. We've done it before, we've been
through things. We don't want to get too high or
too low. But like I see the Celtics and it's like,
where are the different things you're trying. Where's the where's
the excitement and where where's the where where's the overall
burst of energy when you need it, when you need
to close the game out. It's it's almost like the Celtics.
(12:15):
The Celtics played the first two games in the Hey,
we're both lulled to sleep, right. The Celtics were kind
of halfway lulled to sleep. The Knicks were kind of
halfway loved to sleep with how they were playing. So
we're just gonna play it out this way. We're gonna
play it out this way and no one's gonna wake up,
and we're gonna win this game. And okay, we'll try
to figure it out better for next game. And you
see teams do that sometimes well, the game is going
(12:36):
this way, let's just play it out right, NFL, we
see it where a team is up by two touchdowns,
but they keep going three and out, three and out
punting away. Hey, we keep getting the ball back. Yet
we're fine. We're absolutely fine because no one's doing anything.
We're up by two touchdowns. Well, eventually the other team
you give them the ball back enough is gonna catch
fire and want to win. And that's when you see
teams blow two touchdown leads, like that's what we saw
(12:56):
with the Celtics. Hey, we're content with the game going
this way. We have no kill instinct and I just
don't see the overall. Hey give me that sense of
urgency from the Celtics to win this series. And that's
why the Knicks are where they are up to ZIP
because they've played poorly the first two and a half
quarters both games, but they found a way to turn
it on and the Celtics had no answer in either game.
(13:19):
And that's what really surprises me because they're the champs.
Speaker 4 (13:22):
See, the analogy really is app because it was a
two touchdown lead, fourteen with eight minutes remaining.
Speaker 1 (13:29):
Exit outbout a Fresca exit Swallen Dome. Jason Smith Mike

of guys having big playoffs so far. You can tick
him off the top, Jalen Brunson, Mikal Bridges, Chris Finch
taking on Anthony Edwards. There's lots of guys having big
(16:26):
playoffs Jay hart Smith, but nobody, nobody in any sport
is having the playoff that this guy is having. So
he gets to be the Express pros Pro of the Week.
Speaker 3 (16:40):
Tom more.
Speaker 1 (16:46):

Speaker 1 (17:04):
Week dou Shane nice Job sends it across Granted.
Speaker 3 (17:07):
In front Scar it's a hat trick and we're a peg.
Speaker 1 (17:15):
Hints was right in fun, but it's Ranton and who
remains scorching hot.
Speaker 3 (17:22):
That man is out of his mind. ESPN on the call.
Speaker 1 (17:26):
There is nobody in either the NBA or NHL having
the playoffs that Miko Ranton and is having for the
Dallas Stars. Gretzky Ovechkin and no but back to back
hat tricks in the playoffs, especially one to close out
the team that traded you away.
Speaker 3 (17:41):
Earlier in the year over a very small amount of money.
Speaker 1 (17:45):
Oh man, nobody, I know it. It was insane and
you know that. And the thing is Ranton and gets
traded to the Hurricanes. And think of where the Hurricanes
are right now, where they would be if they had Ranton,
but he wouldn't sign with them long term, so they
flipped him in a pretty good trade with the Stars,
you know, to get a really good young player and
some picks. But now Ranton is a guy that's flipped
the Stars into being the overall leading contenders to win
(18:09):
the Cup like he is. He is absolutely the best
player in the playoffs NBA. Take all the guys in
the NBA and all the guys in the NHL, nobody's
having a bigger playoffs than him.
Speaker 4 (18:20):
It's always the curiosity when you get on a heater
like Hockey's just that it's so hard to rack up
outside of your gratski's or whatever we do. I don't
want to do that stuff, but like points and scoring
consistently so damn hard. And these last two games, it's
just been amazing to watch him go to work right
(18:40):
the third third period, work in that closeout game, and
again tonight. They're currently what plus three ten, just ahead
of your Carolina Hurricanes as the favorite to win the
Stanley Cup.
Speaker 1 (18:53):
Hey, I mean, really, I mean this guy is he's
single handedly turning teams into favorites to win the Cup.
Speaker 3 (18:59):
Back Tox, like you want a crazy stud man? God,
what do you got? The last three games the Dallas
Stars have h scored eleven goals. Okay, the last three
games for the Stars, Miko has scored eleven.
Speaker 1 (19:15):
Eleven points on all eleven points, man, that's really, I mean,
he really is having some kind of year.
Speaker 3 (19:20):
Hey, also on a heater. How about this?
Speaker 1 (19:23):
The you the Utah Hockey Club is now going to
be the Utah Mammoth finally after like an NCAA bracket
like way of eliminating choices. Uh, the Utah Hockey Club
didn't have a full name when they when they moved
earlier this year. Now is going to be the Mammoth.
And they put out there their results today. They have
the new design on the jersey and I kind of
(19:45):
like mammoth. The ice age stuff rights itself in the ray.
Ramonel will be like banging a gong or something for
the mammoth, and Dennis Leary will be saying, where's the baby,
I mean the or you just have a squirrel chasing
a nut around the ice in between periods like whatever
you have, Yeah, I mean the stuff you could take
advantage of here.
Speaker 3 (20:02):
The mammothis fans.
Speaker 4 (20:05):
Well, and especially once they bring him back to light
in the next couple of years, I mean and they're
they're stalking the earth.
Speaker 3 (20:11):
I mean it's gonna be great. Yeah, well, we have
to bring him back.
Speaker 1 (20:13):
But when we start bringing bad extinct species back, like
the mammoth would have to be one of the top
like two or three to bring.
Speaker 3 (20:20):
Back like the looks I say, like the mammoth, the.
Speaker 1 (20:22):
Saber tooth tiger, and the Dodo, Right, those three have
to come back to life. I mean, now I do
really feel like I'm just doing ice age. But those
are the three that gotta come back. Well, the Dodo,
because that's the first, that's the first animal you learn
about in school. Hey, they staked animal, the Dodo bird, Dodo,
that's the first one, you know, that's what the no,
you sound bad?
Speaker 4 (20:40):
Yeah, but if they bring that back to Dodo bird,
like everything we know has been a lie? Why and
we get and we get into Tyshert's world.
Speaker 1 (20:48):
Yeah, how do we get to tell you what they
could bring their they're gonna bring species back.
Speaker 4 (20:53):
It just undoes thousands of years of written and oral communication.
And his Ye, just like that, we were told they're extinct,
there's no more of them. We're never gonna do this.
Speaker 3 (21:04):
Well, now he gets what. Now we've got this. Hey, Hey,
if I.
Speaker 1 (21:08):
Killed in nineteen seventy five, Hey, if you didn't watch
the game live, you didn't watch that TV show live,
you're never gonna get to see it. Unless they put
on a repeat in the summer. You're never gonna get
to see it. You'll never see that show again. And
then then ten years later, Oh, we found a way
to tape shows. You can watch them any time.
Speaker 4 (21:22):
Can I just say there's plenty of those shows that
never saw the light.
Speaker 3 (21:25):
Of day again. No, but upset, But because they were terrible.
Speaker 1 (21:27):
Technology changes things, man, And now that now they're gonna
bring them. The mammots will come back, real life, real
life ice age, real life ice age.
Speaker 3 (21:37):
Where they've been hiding the Dodo ty shirt.
Speaker 1 (21:39):
Yeah, just like the dire Wolves, they're back all of
a sudden area fifty one dire wolfs.
Speaker 3 (21:44):
Dire Wolves are back, yeah, telling you man it get
all of them. And they're gonna show games at the
tar pits.
Speaker 1 (21:50):
Yes, there will be. There will be games under under
a under in the tar pits. That's where they're gonna be.
Speaker 4 (21:54):
Forget causem we're gonna go watch it and spell the
tar and we're gonna go watch the scientists work in
the little lab.
Speaker 3 (22:02):
Welcome to the Librea tar Pits, and then we're gonna
walk over into the farmers market and have a nice meal.
Speaker 1 (22:08):
What was that movie where the tar pit Wait, one
of those disaster movies in the nineties where the tar
pits got really hot, and uh, like lava flowed through
l A and Tommy Lee Jones was the star and
hash like the tar pits got really hot for some
day ridiculous reason and like and then it like lava
and then it turned into lava.
Speaker 3 (22:28):
I remember that.
Speaker 1 (22:29):
Yeah, And it turned the lava and it destroyed most
of LA and then they realized, oh, we'll just let
it run into the ocean.
Speaker 3 (22:34):
Yeah, and that's is that? The one with Tommy Lee
Jones is Tommy Lee Jones. What was it called? Is
it just librea? No, no, you're gonna punch yourself in
the face. What is it? Volcano? Oh? Yes, yes, of course.
Speaker 4 (22:49):
Times and the thing with the guy in the well.
I wouldn't have thought it would.
Speaker 3 (22:54):
Have been so on the nose. But why bother volcano?
Speaker 1 (22:58):
Yeah, that's right, it was volcano. And they're all the
we're all trying to stay away from the from the lava.
Speaker 3 (23:02):
Don't get too close. The lava is too hot. It
will burn you. Of course, it's loging ago.
Speaker 4 (23:06):
But I now I have to go find the theatrical
release poster as I do a quick search here man
for volcano.
Speaker 3 (23:12):
It's hotter than hell.
Speaker 1 (23:13):
Oh, Yeah, that's back, and I get it signed by
Keith David. Yeah, that's back in the nineties, when like
any disaster movie at all would get greenlit.
Speaker 3 (23:20):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (23:20):
Yeah, what's it about, Well, the ground explodes. Why you
know what? Never mind, here's ten million dollars. Go make
that picture. Okay, great, Oh, purfo's gonna work for us.
Speaker 3 (23:28):
Christ Fox two thousand, any twentieth century Fox.
Speaker 1 (23:32):
And you can make any disaster movie at all. We
will get to the biggest NBA injury that could flip
the playoffs. But first, let's find out what's trending in
the wide world of sports. From someone who's been called
the Tommy Lee Jones of Fox Sports Radio. Someone once
said to her, I didn't kill my wife, and she said,
I don't care.
Speaker 3 (23:53):
It's mansie Belanyas.
Speaker 4 (23:56):
Did I say that.
Speaker 6 (23:57):
I don't remember it that way for sure? Yeah, yeah, yeah, Okay.
Speaker 5 (24:00):
What I do remember is the Knicks being down twenty Yeah,
I remember that.
Speaker 3 (24:04):
I remember those were.
Speaker 5 (24:06):
The days, and then they once again came back to me,
the Celtics ninety one to ninety. I also remember mister
Clutch himself Jaalen Brunson hitting the go ahead shot late
in the fourth quarter, hitting a couple of free throws,
and he was seventeen points and seven assists. Carl Anthony
downs with a double double with extra cheese, twenty one
points and seventeen rebounds.
Speaker 6 (24:23):
Josh r had twenty three points in the win.
Speaker 5 (24:25):
The Celtics have missed a combined seventy five three point
attempts in their first two games. The thunder blew out
the Nuggets one forty nine to one oh sixty, even
the series at one. A piece shake, guilt piece, shake kilches.
Alexander thirty four points and eight assists in the win.
Nikola Jokic ended with seventeen points, eight rebounds and six assists,
totally fouled out on purpose with one minute to go.
Speaker 6 (24:46):
In the third quarter.
Speaker 5 (24:47):
Oka se scored eighty seven points in the first half,
which was an NBA postseason record for the most points
in any half in the NHL playoffs. You just talked
about Miko Ranton and Yep back to back hat tricks.
Speaker 6 (24:58):
The Stars edged the Jets three to two, down leads
the series one zero.
Speaker 5 (25:01):
The Maple Leaves top the Panthers four to three, so
now they lead the series to zero. In baseball, some
of the games that happened in the later window. The
Angels edged the Blue Jays five to four. The Tigers
had an eight to six win over the Rockies. The
Royals top the White Sox two to one. The Twins
beat the Orioles five to two.
Speaker 6 (25:18):
What is wrong with the Orioles this year?
Speaker 5 (25:19):
I don't know.
Speaker 6 (25:20):
They're no one on.
Speaker 4 (25:23):
Quickly quickly home much perform.
Speaker 6 (25:26):
So quick though, so I really was not expecting it
like that.
Speaker 3 (25:29):
The Red you bets, Thank goodness.
Speaker 5 (25:33):
Yes, the Reds defeated the Braves four to three, and
the Yankees did walk it off against the Padres for
three and ten innings. Philly shut out the Rays seven zero.
Red Sox beat the Rangers six to four. Alex Bregman
hit his two hundredth career home run in that win.
In Oh, wait, before I get to soccer, real quick
news out of the gentleman that fell at that Pirates
Cubs game, uh, twenty year old Kevin mark Wood. He's
(25:57):
expected to be headed home in the next couple of days.
In case you he suffered a broken neck, broken clavicle,
and other injuries to his back, brain and lungs in
the fall. But he's supposed to be heading home in
the next couple of days, so hopefully he has a
full recovery. And lastly, in soccer, PSG advanced to the
Champions League with the win over Arsenal. PSG is going
(26:17):
to face Aner Milan in the final on May thirty.
Speaker 6 (26:20):
First, thank to you guys, Thank you very much.
Speaker 3 (26:22):
Tomorrow tomorrow.
Speaker 6 (26:24):
Now you know, not you, but from Afar, from Afar.
Speaker 1 (26:27):
The thing is that about that Pirates fan because new
video came out today and the New York Post had
it of I think it was security video that was
taken from behind him, right, So the only video we
saw was this grainy video of him, you know, up
in and he falls over the edge and we said,
what had happened? It looks like he vaults himself up
and over and how does that happen?
Speaker 3 (26:49):
Like it looked like did he try to do it?
Speaker 1 (26:51):
Was he trying to do something? And you see the
angle from behind and and and now I see exactly
what happened. He does vault, he gets excited about the
hit and he vaults himself up and he just gets
too high, like he wants to hold onto the railing
and jump in the air, and he jumps in the
air a little too high, and he comes down and
his legs don't come down on the ground, and because
(27:12):
his body was you know, comes down right on the
on the railing, the top half his body of the
torso and the head kind of goes forward and he
loses his balance and flips over. So he was just
excited jumping up and instead of coming right back down,
he lost his balance coming down and wound up tipping
forward and falling and hitting the ground. So it's now
now we see exactly how it happened. You see them go, oh,
(27:33):
my goodness. But great update from Monzi right there. Hopefully
he's gonna be okay. He's already walking, I believe I
saw that with assistance, and you know, it's gonna be
a long way to go for him, but it looks
like he'll be on the road recovering the fact that
he's going home.
Speaker 3 (27:46):
That's that's nothing but great news.
Speaker 4 (27:47):
The human body is a very strange mechanism, isn't it.
Speaker 1 (27:55):
Now speaking of the human from a different perspective here,
and we talk about Steph Curry and the injury that
now we found out today is going to keep him
out for probably the next week. He left Game one
and their win over the Minnesota Timberwolves grabbing at his
hamstring trying to play defense on a play when up
and down the court a couple of times, limped and
(28:16):
took himself out of the game, walked right out, and
Steve Kerr said today his injury is going to keep
him out for the next week. So what does that mean.
You're looking at around game four for Steph Curry. Now,
that's what we said last night, because that's clearly what
it looked like. He's not had an injury like this
before in his career. But Steve Kerr is saying this
today very smartly. Hey, Steph's not going to be back
(28:39):
for a few days, okay, So he doesn't want this
to be an everyday storyline. Hey, how's Steph doing? Can
he play tomorrow? Can he play the next game? How's
he doing today? Like he wants this to not be
a story and also wants the Warriors to know we
have to focus on the next couple of games without Steph.
We're up one game to none right now, but we
got game two, we have three, maybe game four. Let's
(29:02):
take at least the next five days. And this is
not a story because it's about us and the people
in this locker room. Now that being said, I firm
expect him. You know, he'll be out the next couple
of games. It didn't look that serious. He was still
able to move off under his own power and walk.
If he is not back by game four' I'm really surprised,
(29:22):
right because you know how badly he wants to play.
And Game four is gonna be a huge swing game
for the series because either it's gonna be the Warriors
up to one, most likely looking to go up three
to one because if and Steph is gonna want to
play there because then that gives him a stranglehold on
the series. Or it's gonna be, hey, the t Wolves
get the next two games because they're the better team
(29:43):
without especially with the Wars without Steph Curry, and he's
gonna need to play in Game four, or the series
is over because it's three to one going back to Minnesota.
So the combination of the fact that he's gonna have
a week, he's gonna have a week to get treatment.
He's never had this injury before, it's not something that
this has come back, and and it's it's gonna keep
him down a while. He's gonna want to be back.
He's gonna take the next five days. I fully expect
(30:05):
him to come back for Game four.
Speaker 4 (30:07):
Yeah, it's the good move. Pr wise, just leave us alone.
He's gone for a week, which you know it's not
They're not signing a contract, and as we've seen from
bands and throughout our lives, contracts are meant to be broken.
So if if, even if it were legally binding, Uh,
there's nothing to preclude him from coming back early. Right,
Like you sign a mortgage, you can pay it off
(30:29):
early at no penalty, save yourself some interest there you
go want to grow on. But for Steph Curry, yeah,
you get out of the spotlight and out of the four.
For Steve Curry company, it's can you draw another huge
performance out of Buddy Heel? Can you get more from
Pozemski who was invisible? Uh even in the big win?
H to get things started here. But for for Steph Curry, yeah,
(30:53):
you have to go all the way back to the
pre draft process and the analysis of how slight and
slender he was. Doesn't mean he has a missed throughout
his career, but certainly a different injury and he was
still moving a bit and then decided all right, let's
fight no more. And they were quick to uh to
pull the hook as if to say, all right, he's
not coming back to save the day. So you guys
(31:15):
got to play. And I think that's more of the gamesmanship, uh,
that that you have to do in the locker.
Speaker 3 (31:20):
Room as well.
Speaker 4 (31:21):
It's like it's on your shoulders. We can't expect him
to carry us. So for Jimmy Butler, and there's some
great memes going around for Jimmy Butler as protector in
all of this stuff that he must protect his house.
And obviously Draymond Green just needs to keep his head
and not I'm gonna get himself thrown out to wear
even things up. But it's it's certainly for the for
(31:43):
the Warriors, they played well in his absence and other
guys stepped into roles. You'll need more from Moody. Here's
the time where all of that depth that you thought
you'd acquired even if you don't have size, because you
got minutes out of Jonathan Kaming again one of.
Speaker 3 (31:59):
The outliers the series.
Speaker 4 (32:01):
Uh, for all that we've been talking about, here's like
he got off the bench. Good for him, So let's
see what they can do without Curry for the next week.
Speaker 3 (32:08):
No, mathematician Jason, Yeah, when he got Frostburg. But a
week would be game five.
Speaker 1 (32:12):
Oh no, but he'll be bad six days in five,
six days a week seven.
Speaker 3 (32:15):
Yeah, No, what have we got?
Speaker 4 (32:16):
We got to Tuesday, Thursday Saturday schedule, Like the Tuesday, Thursday.
Speaker 3 (32:20):
Tuesdaysday would be game Saturday, Monday. That's a week.
Speaker 1 (32:23):
You know, well, well, if he got hurt last night,
which is Tuesday, he can come back on a Monday,
and that's a week one, two, three, four, five, six,
it's the seventh day.
Speaker 3 (32:31):
Was strong. Yeah, I think he'll come back on a
big game four. Now, now I'm gonna say this and
you want to go.
Speaker 4 (32:36):
So, now he's got a he's a tiny slight yeah, yeah,
slip side of this.
Speaker 1 (32:40):
If the t Wolves lose this series and Steph Curry
does not play, like if this is something where for
some reason Steph is out or he has some kind
of setback, this is the most embarrassing playoff loss. And
there's lots of candidates right now. You got the Calves,
you have the Celtics, you got lots of teams, right
You've got lots of teams that Clippers. You've got lots
(33:00):
of teams with embarrassing playoff losses.
Speaker 3 (33:03):
If the t.
Speaker 1 (33:03):
Wolves lose to the Warriors, who are not built to
win without Steph Curry and they turned Buddy Healed into
Scottie Pippen and Jimmy Butler into Jimmy Butler from like
six years ago, that's as embarrassing as it gets. That's
the pressure the t Wolves are under. If he doesn't
come back and they still lose, man, forget it. People
are getting fired, getting traded, and this era of the
(33:24):
Tea Wolves is never getting off the ground, not happening.
Speaker 4 (33:29):
Yeah, it's your squad, right, you were on board. You
were an ant guy.
Speaker 3 (33:35):
Exit out bout of Fresca, Exit swollen dome.
Speaker 1 (33:37):
Jason Smith Mike Harmon Live from the Fox Sports Radio Studios,
coming up next. After tonight's incredibly large Nicks win over
the Celtics, one Celtics legend might have a really long
commute to.
Speaker 3 (33:49):
Work tomorrow, Wall will you hear it? That's next Fox
Sports Radio.
Speaker 2 (33:55):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Jason Smith
Show with Mike Harmon weekdays at ten pm Eastern seven
pm Pacific.
Speaker 1 (34:03):
Fox Sports Radio, The Jason Smith Show with my best
friend Michel Bridges, O. Two steals in a row and
there goes your beer. That's okay, mckel Bridges, he can
steal it ever he wants. Jason Smith Mike Harmon as
the big highlight of the night. Apparently nobody thought the
(34:26):
Knicks would go up to nothing against the Celtics.
Speaker 3 (34:28):
What did I tell you three days ago?
Speaker 1 (34:30):
Nicks Pacers Eastern Conference Finals. Now suddenly, wait a minute,
that guy knew what he was talking about. Both teams
are up to zip. Nicks pays no even money and
now and then and then and that means Nix and
the finals because we're paying back the Pacers for last year.
Speaker 3 (34:43):
That's one happening.
Speaker 1 (34:45):
Absolutely, Oh yeah, pay back Reggie, Reggie Miller on all
the calls and everything. Oh yeah, yeah, yeah, absolutely that's happening.
Yeah yeah. I don't celebrate that. I don't sell happy
versus from all who celebrate.
Speaker 3 (35:01):
I don't celebrate. It's like Christmas. I don't celebrate that. Yeah.
Speaker 4 (35:04):
I mean, it's like three big sports anniversaries today.
Speaker 3 (35:07):
It's not going to celebrate Christmas. It's not Christmas for me. Man.
Maybe Christmas for you guys, not Christmas for me, not
at all.
Speaker 4 (35:14):
So you had that, you had Bartolo Cologne hitting his
home run.
Speaker 3 (35:18):
Yeah, and this was the day.
Speaker 4 (35:20):
That Allan Iverson talked about practice.
Speaker 1 (35:22):
Not a game, not a game, not a game, but
practice not a game.
Speaker 3 (35:31):
This week.
Speaker 5 (35:32):
Can go out there and dae for and play every
game like it's my last, not the game.
Speaker 3 (35:37):
We're talking about practice, man, practice.
Speaker 4 (35:40):
I had to explain to Maddie when that came up
in ted Lasso that that wasn't something clever that that
they did.
Speaker 1 (35:48):
Now, I was just saying it was playing a twenty
three years twenty three years ago. Now was twenty three
years ago? Uh, now twenty three years? Maybe how long
it's going to take this next person to get to
work tomorrow? Because on speak earlier today on FS one,
Rick Buker, who's going to join us tomorrow on the
show he was on today Celtics legend, Paul Piers wheelchair
(36:12):
Paul Pierce was so convinced the Celtics were gonna win
Game two he made this declaration and guarantee on the
air on FS one. Oh, I'll fight the declaration. That
is a big declaration. And then Paul Pierce said this
(36:35):
the Celtics lose game to at all, I'll promise you
to I was walking here tomorrow.
Speaker 3 (36:40):
I'm walking here.
Speaker 2 (36:42):
I'm walking here, fifteen miles.
Speaker 3 (36:45):
I'm walking here. I don't know, Pete. This is your
friend in my robe, your.
Speaker 2 (36:50):
Friends, no shoes off, somebody saving bare feet.
Speaker 1 (36:54):
So better get going, Paul Piers, because you gotta think
about eight hours to walk that fifteen Because I saw
the route you put on social media and there's a
couple of highways out are closed.
Speaker 3 (37:05):
You better leave that house now.
Speaker 1 (37:07):
If you're gonna get on the air tomorrow, because boy,
especially at bare feet, that's gonna be a tough walk.
Ball Pierce, go New York, Go New York, goat, go
New York, Go New York.
Speaker 3 (37:17):
Coat, go New York, go New York Coat. You better
leave the house now.
Speaker 4 (37:22):
Breaks and on flat terrain, I mean we're looking at
five to six hours at a normal gate.
Speaker 3 (37:27):
Wow. You kind of sound like Tommy Lee Jones from
The Fugitive.
Speaker 1 (37:30):
Traveling speed over broken terrain with a barefoot man is
one mile an out?
Speaker 3 (37:35):
Okay, sorry, good.
Speaker 4 (37:36):
Now we're gonna talk barefoot man taking out gravel glass
whatever else.
Speaker 3 (37:42):
Call diaper. Oh, I think he would be able to
stop on the way.
Speaker 1 (37:47):
They would followhim with some kind of port of sand
and then would you other make sure that would happen.
Speaker 3 (37:52):
Gotta make sure.
Speaker 1 (37:53):
Hey, look that's Paul Pierce walking to work. Because we
said the Celtics are gonna be the Nicks on do
they not?
Speaker 4 (38:00):
Now it's ten before the game or ten and a half,
and it looked really good for a long time, you know,
so it didn't.
Speaker 1 (38:06):
Much Like Xerxes said in the three hundred, I'm a
kind God, I'm kind, I'm kind.
Speaker 3 (38:11):
I will Paul. You know what. Listen, dude, here's the thing.
I'll allow you to.
Speaker 1 (38:16):
Wear sneakers or whatever shoes you want to walk to work,
kind of like it's Stephen King long walk.
Speaker 3 (38:21):
Uh, whatever shoes. I don't want you to get her.
Speaker 1 (38:24):
I want your feet again her and I want you
to say, oh, I can't walk after like you get
to the bottom of your driveway.
Speaker 3 (38:28):
No, no, no, wear whatever shoes you need to but robe.
Speaker 1 (38:32):
Absolutely, you're walking in a robe and wear sneakers because
I don't want you to because I want you to
be on the air so you can. You have to
talk about eating humble Pie and crow. What humble Pie
and crow?
Speaker 4 (38:44):
Uh?
Speaker 1 (38:44):
Because I want you people to be on the end
of talk about that, so sneakers are okay from it
to make that run.
Speaker 4 (38:49):
Do you think he has a glitter robe that has
the truth on the back of it as if he
were a WWE superstar or pugilist of sometime, Well, then
I would.
Speaker 1 (38:59):
Want to say the truth and then under and I
would say the truth is you pick this game wrong?
Like that's I would want to put something like that
on the b.
Speaker 2 (39:11):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (39:11):
No, I mean, look, I love the bold proclamation. What
do we say?
Speaker 4 (39:15):
Don't go soft on it. I'm with the big take
now yours again? Part analysis mostly fever dream but sometimes
the fever dream led leads you to It's like you
you know, you went to a sweat lodge and you
saw your future there.
Speaker 3 (39:31):
It was.
Speaker 1 (39:33):
That's ah Nix and the Pacers in the East finals. No, No,
you were you were looking back at last year in
the second round.
Speaker 3 (39:39):
No, this year. I saw this.
Speaker 1 (39:41):
I saw the year twenty twenty five. It's happening. We're
getting it. We're getting the Nicks and the Pacers Part.
Speaker 4 (39:46):
Two, and you know the Cavs fans got their apology
from the league.
Speaker 3 (39:50):
Hey, here's all the.
Speaker 4 (39:51):
Lame violations and every yes, Smitch putback dunk should have
never counted.
Speaker 3 (39:57):
How do you How does that feel?
Speaker 2 (39:58):
Now?
Speaker 3 (39:58):
Look now?
Speaker 1 (39:59):
And also let's be honest here now, okay, Yes, the
Calves are the best team in the East. The Celtics
were the second best team in the East this year.
Thunder were the best in the West. I had the
three best teams in the NBA. What is a better,
more entertaining Eastern Conference finals that people will watch on TV? Celtics,
Calves or Knicks, Pacer Magic Hornets Stop stop and then
(40:24):
Nicks and the Pacers? Are you kidding? There would be
so much more interest in.
Speaker 4 (40:28):
History, all the tales of your uh not to mention
these characters. They had a fire alarm go off. It's
like anybody else concerned about this. Stop asking me about
fourth quarter defense. There's an alarm going.
Speaker 1 (40:40):
The Celtics had a fire alarm going off in their
huddles in the third and fourth quarter.
Speaker 3 (40:44):
Better shown some life in the fourth quarter.
Speaker 1 (40:46):
Yeah, go burn it down, Go New York, Go New York, Goat,
Go New York, Go New York.
Speaker 3 (40:52):
Goat. And the heat.
Speaker 1 (40:53):
Turned by Frostburg bigger than Hull. Hogan now rooting for
the Knicks after he bashed them for the last last
decade because they have the Celtics in an O two hole. Frostburg,
Welcome to the bandwagon.
Speaker 3 (41:05):
How's the view of Boston? Kind of presscaggs and swollen Dome.
Speaker 1 (41:10):
Up next, my buddy Ben Mallor this is Fox Michel
Bridges yow.
