Speaker 2 (00:22):
Let's give this. You're listening to Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 1 (00:29):
Greetings, Welcome inside final hour tonight the Jason Smith Show
with my base friend Mike Harmon. Because the game started
forty five minutes ago, the Lakers Clippers still in the
third quarter. Yeah, let's go. It's gonna take us all
the way to the end of the show, oh man.
(00:49):
And then so it will it will that.
Speaker 2 (00:51):
That's one thing.
Speaker 1 (00:51):
I mean, we're not gonna get any JJ reddiquips by
I mean by time this is done. I mean he's
not gonna hat you. No, no, no, no, no, that's
not happening. Man.
Speaker 2 (00:59):
You're not getting postgame reaction, none on them.
Speaker 3 (01:01):
No.
Speaker 1 (01:01):
That's that's too bad, especially if you're gonna get these
challenges in the final.
Speaker 2 (01:06):
Man, I mean, it is a cup night, and in
this game means that much more.
Speaker 1 (01:10):
And I already had the battle for LA the hot
Lucas start Clippers trying to get off the mat because
they've had a rough start to this season, to be
kind h So this this is a heavyweight.
Speaker 2 (01:25):
Bottle here in a holiday holiday, holiday week, the.
Speaker 1 (01:28):
Lakers leading again ninety five to ninety three, final minute
of the third quarter, Luka Doncicic with thirty nine points already,
he had twenty four in the first quarter. He was
on paced for ninety two. But right now Luca at
thirty nine, tennissists and eight rebounds, he is two rebounds
away from a triple double, which you'll probably get because
(01:49):
he got the entire fourth quarter here. And let's face it,
not a lot of defense being played tonight. There's a
lot of shots. There's a lot of opportunities for stats
out there tonight.
Speaker 2 (01:57):
No, there's no question about it.
Speaker 1 (01:59):
This is this is not one of This is not
Brown's raiders. Like, there's a lot of chances for stats
out there, bunch of lobs, but certainly a lot of
jump shots of all right, go ahead, take it, go ahead.
We'll give it to any chance we see Timmy in
the game tonight. Oh, has got some moves. He might
be activated. Shot him. It might be a little too
(02:19):
early for Drew. Timmy, you just signed the two way
contract what yesterday? But there's plenty of time for garbage.
Well that's well, you would think I was wondering if
there's time, who gets in the game, Uh, Timmy or Brownie?
Speaker 2 (02:32):
I want to see both?
Speaker 1 (02:33):
You want to at the same time? Well, I mean,
you know why he wants to see both. Watch Bronny
and Timmy get in and all of a sudden, it's
like it's like they've played together for years. They run
a two man game, and it's just, yeah, we got it, man,
we got the thing.
Speaker 2 (02:47):
I always want to.
Speaker 1 (02:47):
You know, the Brownny east side showed things going back
to last year. Not his fault. You know. It's kind
of like we talk a lot about shador an unfortunate
victim of circumstances. Time nothing. You know, you just went
three stok victim a circumstances. Not that both those guys
don't get a little chirpye at times. But for Bronnie,
he's taken a lot of incoming. He's got as many
(03:08):
stats tonight as don't connect. Okay, just and that was Remember,
that was Lebron's guy. He was his favorite guy other
than Bronny going into the coming out of the draft.
Speaker 2 (03:17):
He tried to trade him last year in the trade.
Speaker 1 (03:19):
No no, no, But but when this before the season,
like before the draft, he was talking about that was
his guy, and then they drafted him and he barely
sees the court.
Speaker 2 (03:29):
So Lebron, you're on the way out. We're not even
gonna play guys that you like.
Speaker 1 (03:33):
Forget you like that about you and the kid and
Smith blank you.
Speaker 2 (03:37):
By the way, Well, what did I do? We talk
you up in your mouth? Luca was on pace for
ninety two points. Well, now he's gonna well, I mean, look,
it's not.
Speaker 1 (03:44):
He scored like thirteen. Yeah, well it's not my file.
I didn't tell J. J. Reddick to send him for
the first But here's the thing. I gotta make sure
that folks, you know my guy can do math, because
that ninety two came off. Was saking a couple of minutes, Yeah,
because otherwise it's ninety six. Okay, he understands the multiply
N four.
Speaker 2 (04:03):
He was using a big max. Yeah, well number he
was kind of moving around to like a chessboard. Big Max.
Should we just go get.
Speaker 1 (04:11):
Like ninety two, Big Max, and see how many you
can power down in a four hour?
Speaker 2 (04:15):
Can you eat two more? I can't eat two more.
He was on pace for ninety two points till you
said that.
Speaker 1 (04:20):
Yeah, okay, and now he's going to score now he
might not even score fifty's.
Speaker 2 (04:25):
He will dress them all time. Great night. How about
I give you this again. I'll give you this. We'll
talk about this again.
Speaker 1 (04:31):
And they're only up five right, uh, thirty nine, eleven
and eight. They are only a couple of guys having
the start to the season. Luka Doncic does and is having.
Luca also has the storyline the Lakers are successful, surprisingly successful.
They were successful without Lebron. We haven't mentioned Lebron's name
once this entire conversation. Ra by the way, he's got
(04:54):
eighteen tonight right in twenty three, Max, we had this
is this is where Lebron is with the Lakers. Now
what cut part of the conversation is he really he's not.
It's Luca and then it's Austin Reeves and Lebron Lebron.
He is just falling down the pecking order of how
relevant he is. We haven't even mentioned his name. Because
Luca is gonna win the MVP this year. He's gonna
(05:17):
have it clinched by the beginning of January. Because this
is how it goes in the NBA. I'm voting for.
It's unlike the end of the year in the in
Major League Baseball, in the NFL, where you want to say, hey,
who closes great, who lifts their team up great. It's
why Otani was able to win again, you know, having
a big September pitching coming back there. That's why he's
(05:37):
able to win. In the NBA, it's if you get
out to a lead and your team is good, you
coast to the MVP. Luka Doncic will coast to the
MVP if the Lakers are real like this twelve and
four is team. He's the top of the stats. He
doesn't need to lead the league in scoring. If he's
in the top three and he has these big games,
look like Sga had all the fifty point games last year.
(05:57):
Luca's gonna win. He's got the storyline, he's got the
he got everything you need. There's other great players having
great years, right, There's no one from Detroit's gonna win
the NBA MVP. You leave Cunningham, He's not gonna win
the MVP, right, it's a fifty to one, right, Luca's
going to win it, and they'll have it clinched by
the beginning of January. Right now, he's third behind the
afore engine, Jokic and SGA in terms of the odds.
(06:20):
You can still get plus three to ninety coming into
tonight's game, and maybe by the end of that first
quarter those short shortened a little bit. But there will
be an overwhelming desire to give Luca the MVP over
both SGA and Jokic. I mean, think about it, think
about it. Oh no, let's give it to one of
those guys again, give it to Luca. Hey, let's give
it to Luca. Yeah, Shingoon, let's go chance. There's no
(06:44):
chance to win. I just think it would be fun.
It would be but he has no chance to win.
Speaker 2 (06:48):
Now.
Speaker 1 (06:48):
I'd like to see Jalen Brunson win. He doesn't have
a chance. Well, I mean, you've already said they're gonna
fall off. They're only ten and six. They're gonna get
y honest, They'll get you honest to the deadline. Okay,
Jannis is out.
Speaker 2 (06:58):
With an injury. You don't want him February. I mean,
he's doing commercials. We don't need him till February. It's fine.
I saw a run earlier.
Speaker 1 (07:04):
I was watching the season finale of Tulsa King, and
you know, because I'm cheap, I got the ad breaks
and in back to back ads, I had Steph Curry
and Yannis.
Speaker 2 (07:15):
Oh yeah, the Steph was a big one. Stuff was
great at the time.
Speaker 1 (07:17):
Right now, well, no, because it's also he's like verbally
slapping a bunch of his contemporaries upside the head.
Speaker 2 (07:23):
Changed my number. I am all year long, Yeah, my
whole court.
Speaker 1 (07:26):
So it's like, wait, he shine around Lebron there right
over there is that durant issy tying about his former
teammate there?
Speaker 2 (07:32):
Who's he swiping at there? No, it's fun.
Speaker 1 (07:36):
But and then you got Yannis who's shilling for like
one of the department stores.
Speaker 2 (07:42):
Yeah, I mean, yeah, it's good. It's okay. We don't
need not to land to February. That's all.
Speaker 1 (07:45):
That's why I make the trades'll be he'll be okay.
But now, yeah, we'll have more NBA on the way again.
Going to the fourth quarter. Here, Lakers and Clippers ninety
eight ninety three. We've told you the Rams are the
best team in the NFL. Gratulations everybody else who is
running with that take now today I saw a couple
of shows today.
Speaker 2 (08:03):
You know the Rams.
Speaker 1 (08:04):
Yes, the Rams are the only team you can trust
in the NFL. Two weeks ago we told you how
good they were and that they were going to prove
they were the best team. They did it two weeks ago,
beat in Seattle, that this week in the big showdown
over Tampa Bay, racing out to a big lead. They
have everything going their way. So we're gonna give you
something new on it that other people can take extent
of this. Yes, look, this is how you win in
(08:24):
the NFL. When your quarterback is lights out and your
defense's lights out, you're gonna win most weeks. Right, And
Matthew Stafford has been an MVP level from the beginning
of the year, and the defense is the best defense
in the NFC. This is how good the Rams are, right,
This is the Rams nube coming into this year. We
have to have a better start than we've had the
last couple of years. We can't rely on Matthew Stafford
(08:45):
getting hot the second half of the year and rolling
into the playoffs is the hottest team. And then hey,
we run into something because we got to play the
NFC title game in Philadelphia, right, No, no, no, we
got to play the NFC title game here in Los Angeles.
We got to win more games. I even don't think
Sean McVeigh thought the first half to two thirds of
the season would have gone this. Well, well, I'm sure
(09:05):
he's probably thinking, you know, if we hit this, you know,
week eleven, week twelve, and we're seven and four something
like that, maybe even eight and three.
Speaker 2 (09:14):
Boy, I really take that. But best record in the NFC.
Speaker 1 (09:17):
I don't even think they thought that, because now this
is the Rams time as they get towards the end
of the year. But now I'll give you something different
because there's only one thing that concerns me about the Rams.
They can win any kind of game. You know, we
talked about it early in the show. You mentioned they
won this game last week. Is it kind of a
different game that they can They can win any kind
of game and they haven't. The four picks on Sam
(09:39):
Darnold and not not a clean game in any way,
shape or form. But they were able to make the
stop when it mattered. They haven't even started running the
football yet, really, and we know how well they can
do that, but it's really they're doing that as as
much of a complimentary thing this year. But when Stafford
is as good as he is an MVP level, yeah,
you don't run the football. It's thirty and two.
Speaker 2 (09:58):
But it's amazing, right, I mean, every week is four
touchdowns for Stafford.
Speaker 1 (10:01):
Just got to be excited that we actually have someone
at thirty touchdowns because it gets four touchdowns in the
first half for Stafford every week. So yeah, and I
got to think that as the season goes on, you
will see games where, no, we can give the ball
to Kian Williams twenty five times in this game now,
and we can run all over you. Right, we have
that club in our bag. We just haven't had to
show it yet because hey, we're gonna ride the Stafford
(10:24):
Heater as long as we go. It looks like home
field is gonna come to the Rams as well, because
the Eagles have all kinds of problems. Their schedule is
tougher down the stretch. But the one concern I have,
and this is where we're at in the season, where
Week thirteen we're wondering when the good teams are gonna
step up. Who's gonna be good? The Rams are the
only team you can trust. The flip side of it
(10:45):
is this My only concern is that the Rams have
peaked too early because they've been playing phenomenal football now
for the better part of the last two months, and
now you have another month and a half until the playoffs.
You know you're really going to sustain that level all
the way into the playoffs and through the playoffs. It's
(11:06):
a really hard thing to do. You want to be
starting to play your best football now, right do you
get to Thanksgiving and say, okay, so Thanksgiving to the
end the last five to six weeks issue of the season.
That's want to play our best football going into the playoffs.
That's what we want for the Rams to keep this up,
and Stafford's heater and the Rams defense and all that
goes along with it. It's a lot to ask because
(11:27):
teams don't generally go wire to wire in the NFL anymore.
We see it once every couple of years. Special teams
will do it, but generally the wide or somebody runs
into trouble.
Speaker 2 (11:35):
Look at the trouble.
Speaker 1 (11:36):
We didn't think the Lions run into trouble last year
fifteen and two. Look how hot they are. What happens?
Oh boy, they get behind two touchdowns to Washington and
they can't make it up and they get ushered out
of the playoffs and what could have been their best
chance to win the Super Bowl. That's how fast it
happens sometimes when you peak a little bit too early.
And here are the Rams. The Rams have really peaked
for the last two months, right. You had the little
(11:57):
bit of the special teams Snaffou's ear on in the season.
It took a little while for Stafford to warm up.
But really you're going from beginning of October until now.
It's man, the Rams have just been motoring through people
and just putting all kinds of points up. Is that
really gonna It's a really difficult thing to do. So
that my only concern because nothing else is out. There's
everything else they can do. They got the horses everywhere
(12:19):
on this team. Is that did they peak too early?
And are they going to run into a team that's
a little bit hotter than them in the playoffs, because
that happens. Yeah, down the stretch, you still have a
bunch of either dome games or home games, so whether
or not going to be a big factor there, right,
Detroit comes to Los Angeles. But one of the things
that does stand out to me is, you know, we've
(12:39):
talked a lot about injuries across the league. Right We're
getting ready for the return of Joe Burrow to whatever
that means in terms.
Speaker 2 (12:47):
Of playing spoiler or playing meaningful football.
Speaker 1 (12:50):
Really for Cincinnati talking about I'm a football player, this
is what I do. I can't be scared, and it's
saying all the right things and certainly everything you would expect.
But go on down the line. Right, the Bears played
this last week, there were down six starters on their defense.
Their entire linebacking corps didn't play. The Rams have been
extraordinarily healthy through twelve weeks of this regular season. Right,
(13:12):
Higbe's on the ir now, but otherwise they've avoided lingering
long standing injuries. Go back to Matthew Staffords. What was
the thing last year when we were talking about possibility
after a slow start that a bunch of these guys
might get dealt right his back? How good is it
coming into the season a little of that? How much
does he want to play whatever. Well, he's dominating. But
(13:34):
you look at DeVante Adams, who can Nakua missed a
little bit of time, but overall, you know you've had
health at all your key positions, including your guys up front.
Does that stand for a full seventeen I hope it does.
I want to see this version going into the playoffs.
But I'm a realist of the war of attrition that
is the National Football League and generally things normalized now
(13:58):
when we talk about the charges, we talked about the Ravens,
we talk about there's a couple of teams that no
matter what they do, no matter how sage brushes, incantations, prayer, vigils,
rosary beads, whenever they do, the injuries find their way
back into the room. Now about andy bets for anybody though,
but that's for everybody, for anybody, But a lot of
(14:18):
those teams are have those players coming back and they've
had to weather a storm. These guys have had clear
skies for twelve weeks. Exit out about a Fresco exit
swollen down the Jason Smith Show with my best friend
Mike Harmon, just that one concern all we have for
the best team in the NFL. We have more football
Onrey got a big hot take about a quarterback, plus
(14:40):
a big fear. We talk about a fear for the Rams,
a fear for not one but a host of the
NBA teams as we get through the first month of
the NBA season.
Speaker 2 (14:48):

my favorite talking head song. Is it without a doubt?
One hundred percent?
Speaker 2 (15:38):
Okay?
Speaker 1 (15:39):
How do you might ask yourself? My God What have
I done? That really is the best line of it all.
Why do I root for the Jets? My god?
Speaker 2 (15:47):
What have I done? There's water at the bottom of
the ocean. Is that your Gandhi voice? That's kind of
how David burd Why do you hate me? There's water
at the bottom of the ocean? I liked him with
who was Olivia Rodrigo?
Speaker 1 (16:04):
That was a pretty good jod Yeah, bizarre bark.
Speaker 2 (16:08):
You know, why do I root for the New York Jets?
All they do is lose the games?
Speaker 1 (16:18):
You know, every day you have an opportunity to try
football over not once in a lifetime, it's more than
every year they do it. So, uh, six and a
half to go in the fourth quarter. Lakers have jumped
way ahead of the Clippers right now one seventeen, one
oh two. It's been the big three for the Lakers now,
(16:40):
which is a weird thing to say, but it's their
big three of Luca Reeves and Lebron Lucas still at
thirty nine points and we thought he was gonna have
seventy tonight when he had twenty four in the first quarter.
He's at thirty nine at twelve assaists eight rebounds. Meanwhile,
Austin Reeves at twenty five lebron at twenty three to
give him a fifteen point leader in the six and
(17:00):
a half to go in the fourth quarter.
Speaker 2 (17:02):
The Lakers big three. Maybe that's what it's gonna be now,
gonna be the big three of the Lakers.
Speaker 1 (17:06):
Now that's really uh great anticipation with a fifteen point
lead here six fifty one remaining as to what it
looks like at the three minute mark, is it Timmy?
Speaker 2 (17:17):
Do we get Timmy and Bronnie? Yeah?
Speaker 1 (17:22):
And they look like Stockton and Malone running that pick
and roll. It's Bronnie and Timmy, Timmy and Bronnie.
Speaker 2 (17:30):
Tim suck.
Speaker 1 (17:32):
So they make these collegiate sets, right, and someone pulled
and drew Timmy like this guy's gonna be like thirty
five years old. He was thirty five. Goga come on.
But like a lot of the photo they used me
look like it was Jeff Rulan running around. Uh So, listen,
(17:54):
the thing is with watching the Lakers, watching the new
look Lakers.
Speaker 2 (17:57):
In their back I mean, Pep Bets is there. Mookie
Betts is at the game.
Speaker 1 (18:02):
Jerry Bruckheimer is at the game, than Jerkheimer filming F
one to two at the game.
Speaker 2 (18:06):
That would be great.
Speaker 1 (18:09):
But let me just say because this is something that
I've been thinking about this today. And you see the
way the NBA has started this year. Windows open and
close for teams, sometimes very surprisingly and shockingly. Sometimes Hey,
we're building towards opening the window for a championship. Sometimes
we see the windows starting to close. But sometimes the
window is thrown wide open beginning of the day and
(18:30):
we're singing and there's birds outside and an apple pie
on the window. And sometimes the window was just slam shut,
like oh, there's an open bee hive right outside, and boom,
we're shutting this thing, or like when you want to
keep ghosts out or something else by shutting the window,
don't invite vampires into your homewown. Epidemic of pie thefs.
Speaker 2 (18:47):
Probably had something to do with it all too.
Speaker 1 (18:49):
And this tonight on TMZ, pie thefts throughout the local
South Bay area. Wait, know, there is a story this
morning that I thought would be of interest to you guys.
Evidently people are going down the path of domesticating raccoons
and using him his house pins. Okay, Like, can you
can you train a rac like, can you play fetch
(19:10):
with it?
Speaker 2 (19:11):
Really? Yeah? I was watching this videos astounded.
Speaker 1 (19:14):
Every raccoon I ever met has always been a blank
you man, I do it.
Speaker 2 (19:18):
That's more the possum. That's what I experience.
Speaker 1 (19:21):
Yeah, whatever, man, Yeah, you know you think it's I'm
a raccoon. Okay, I do what the hell I want
to Okay, I'll get that. Yeah, that's how I want
to train a raccoon. Jason, Jets defense have in common? No,
what do a pack of raccoons and the Jets defense
haven't common? No picks, that's a good one. Put that
(19:45):
on the internet, Frostburg, you'll trend.
Speaker 2 (19:46):
That's a great one.
Speaker 1 (19:47):
What's the internet? What the internet? Who's I think you
should fight each other to the death. But I started
thinking about this today. You know. You know, we talked
to Rick Buker the other night and he's to me, says, listen,
you watch the Knicks closer than what do you think?
And I said, you know, things are just a lot
harder than they should be, and seeing the Knicks, it
(20:08):
gives me a window into the rest of the NBA
in that sometimes your window gets shut really quickly, and
the Knicks, it's harder than it should be for them,
and they're the title favorites in the East. Look, they
already had a couple of big wins this year, they
beat the Cavs, but they've struggled a lot, and they
struggle because they're slow. It's not so it's not how
(20:30):
much how bad they are defensively, it's that they're slow.
And with Brunson and Karl Anthony Towns and now you
look antonobe Is out and and Mitchell Robinson, they're slow.
Speaker 2 (20:43):
And this is why.
Speaker 1 (20:44):
The teams they play stay in the game with them
for a long time, even the bad teams. If you
are younger and athletic, you can stay in the game
because the Knicks allow you to get to the rim.
Speaker 2 (20:55):
Right.
Speaker 1 (20:55):
They're just not They're just not fast. And that's where
it manifests itself on defense, where hey, these teams are
all shooting for a high percentage against the Knick because
that's what you've seen all through the year, and the
really good teams are staying with them and they're beating them.
The teams that are just okay, the Knicks are beating
but it's a bigger struggle. This doesn't mean the Nicks
are falling off the earth face of the earth. But
(21:17):
maybe they're a fifty win team. But you look at
the teams who suddenly have seen their windows get thrown
wide open this year. Detroit, Toronto, the Spurs, the Lakers,
what are they all? They're all younger and more athletic,
all those teams, that's what they've all become. And for
a team like the Pistons, they're younger and more athletic
and ascending all at the same time. Same thing for
San Antonio. Now san Antonio without Wemby, that's a thing,
(21:40):
and that's too bad because you saw good they were
with him. But the same thing for Toronto. You know,
it took him a couple of years to move on, right,
But now here they are. And the Lakers, yes, they've
gotten younger, more athletic, Lebron playing more of a supporting role.
It's skinny Luca driven in Austin Reeves, you know, two
younger guys in the backcourt with it like this is
kind of how you see teams all of a sudden
throw that window open and how it closes so fast.
(22:02):
And I wonder for the Knicks, I'm really like, is
the window for them to win the title closed because yeah,
they'll they'll win a lot of games this year and
barring changes, they'll get to the playoffs play a team
that's younger and a little more confidence. Like if they
played the Pistons this year in the playoffs compared to
last year, boy, be different, different thing because the Pistons
(22:23):
they were young and they were athletic, but they didn't
quite know how to win. They weren't this version of
themselves yet. And the Knicks and the playoff against them
when they played them previously, hey, they were able to
say you know what, yeah, sorry, you're going home early, right,
So that's kind of But this year it's different and
they've hit it big, really fast. And I wonder for
the Knicks when it comes to the playoffs when you
play so many games in so many days in a row,
(22:45):
and every offensive possession for you, that's the other part
of being slow, is every offensive possession for the Knicks
is a grind. They don't run the ball up and
down the floor because they can't. Every single possession is contested,
it's defended, and that wears on you. It wears on you,
and it wears on your legs all game long, all
season long, it's more difficult than it is to be
(23:05):
for the Knicks, because mainly the Knicks are slow. So
I wonder, like you get to the playoffs, they're gonna
get run out of the playoffs by the Pistons or
by the Raptors or by somebody. You're gonna say, they
need big changes now, and they got to get faster
because they're not as athletic as these teams that now
suddenly have become really good and have seen their two
three year window open. Because I wonder if the Knicks
window was the last two years and they just couldn't
(23:27):
break through.
Speaker 2 (23:28):
It the last show.
Speaker 1 (23:29):
Sure you know, yeah, I mean I look at it.
Most of our I mean, and it's not rocket science said.
The best squads are in the Western Conference, right, you
got some risers in the East, and certainly the Pistons
are exciting to watch what they've been able to accomplish
to this point.
Speaker 2 (23:47):
For the Knicks, the.
Speaker 1 (23:48):
Hope is just that you have your six or seven
man rotation and you're all relatively healthy to be able
to play those thirty plus minutes right for your starters.
Figure when you look at Cat and get O G
back and whatever. Bronson is at that point, right, just
the weary, heavy minutes. And that's the other part is
that it's all stressful minutes. Right. Rick Buker had the
(24:11):
term with us several years back, longtime front of the show,
where he talked about Lebron minutes right of the All right,
it's an extra minute in the minutes played column. But
you weren't running up and down, you weren't defending heavy, right,
just one of those iso ball kind of things where
you're on the court. But tick tick tick tick tick.
(24:32):
And certainly it's something I've tried to push on my
daughter's soccer team. It's like when you know you could
just kind of play with the ball back on your side,
it's like played four corners, tick tick tick Lebron minutes
along the way. But for your nix in a playoff series, right,
assuming they're adjudicated, as we've grown accustomed to playoff series
(24:55):
being adjudicated, it evens out with some of the youthful
spurt ability and the legs and transition buckets because now
you can grind it out and play football, yeah, to
a degree, So advantage nicks in that regard. So I
mean the big key is, are you healthy. Right, you
brought up the Spurs. Well, Wemy's not available now, but
if they hang around to where they're still in the hunt,
(25:19):
i e. In the top ten teams, and he suddenly
comes back, suddenly you're thirty three to one, shot fifty
at the time you said it is certainly still there.
As we sit here today, the Knicks are just thirteen
to one for championship bods, just ahead of the Lakers
at fourteen to one. Time now to find out what's
trending in the wide world of sports. But guy's been
(25:39):
called the Jalen Brunson a Fox Sports radio at that
he likes to walk it up the court too.
Speaker 2 (25:46):
It's Steve di Seger left handed, of course.
Speaker 4 (25:48):
Three and a half minutes to go in LA and
the Lakers' lead over the Clippers is now one twenty
three to one, thirteen three and a half minutes to go.
And this is a game that's been dominated from the
start by Luca. Now the Lakers is well, now there
could be a fight, STEVEO. There could be a fight.
Speaker 1 (26:04):
They're keeping Luca separated from everybody, completely separated.
Speaker 4 (26:09):
Some Clippers, including zubots is walking toward the bench, but
Donsis in thirty five minutes on the court, has forty
one points. He started five to five from three point range,
had twenty four points in the first quarter. Lakers missing
center DeAndre eighton tonight out with a bruce knee, Doncich
was thrown from behind through the lane before rebound came down.
(26:32):
He took exception to that, walked back to Chris Dunn,
who then shoved the basketball into Doncich's chest.
Speaker 1 (26:39):
And then Jackson Hayes pushed him done from behind, and
that got everything down, and Luca just smiled at everybody
like a movie villain, and Lebron just stood there doing nothing.
Speaker 2 (26:48):
Lebron just should shot me outside going look at this. Okay, well,
I thought.
Speaker 4 (26:51):
I saw Lebron look to the bench, said Bronni. Laker's
up by ten with three and a half minutes to
go forty one four. The Lakers Luka Doddsich not over yet,
so Orlando did take care of Philadelphia one forty four
to one oh three. Orlando set a franchise record with
a six points scored in the first half. Washington ended
(27:13):
a fourteen game losing streak. They were out to a
thirty one to eight lead in the first against Atlanta
and beat the Hawks one thirty two to one thirteen.
C J McCollum forty six points from three point range.
He was ten of thirteen. MVP Shay Gilgis Alexander of
OKC is questionable for Wednesday due to illness. Maverick center
Derek Lively will miss at least the next three games
(27:34):
with a foot injury. To men's college basketball, aighth ranked
Alabama leads UNLV mid second half seventy five fifty six
easy wins for number seven Michigan over Auburn and Gonzaga,
which whipped Maryland. Cal defeated number eighteen UCLA eighty to
seventy two. Then number three Houston was beaten by seventeenth
rank Tennessee offall seventy six seventy three. The final one
(27:56):
NHL contest Dallas eight three winners at Edmonton. There are
fifteen NHL games on Wednesday, then none on and Thanksgiving,
and fifteen more on Friday. The Red Sox acquired pitcher
Sonny Gray from the Cardinals for two pitchers in cash.
Gray went fourteen and eight last season. He's a three
time All Star. Pirate Star pitcher Paul Skeen's got a
raise and pay thanks to nearly three and a half
(28:18):
million dollars from baseball's pre arbitration bonus pool. This Saturday
in college football on Fox TV, Number one Ohio State
at number fifteen Michigan. College Football Selection Sunday is a
week from Sunday, December the seventh. The new CFP rankings
came out tonight. The top five stayed the same, led
by the buck Eys. Number six is now Oregon, Number
(28:41):
ten is Alabama, So as of this week again number
nine Notre Dame would be opening the playoffs at number
eight Oklahoma next month, for example, at the moment, it
would be Alabama at Ole Miss in a first round game,
and at the moment BYU at number eleven would be out.
For the moment, Number twelve Miami is in because they're
the highest ranked ACC team, although keep in mind that
(29:03):
the automatic birth goes to your conference champion and may
Miami may not even be in the conference title game.
They have two conference losses in the ACC. Number twenty
four to two. Lane, by the way, the best of
the group of five teams, although North Texas will have
a say in this. They are currently ten and one,
and Eric Morris is leaving after this season. He's leaving
(29:25):
North Texas for Oklahoma State.
Speaker 1 (29:27):
The Tech carol Asondo taking over Robert Loji roberts Over.
North Texas got Baculus the quarterback.
Speaker 2 (29:34):
Armadillo's man, let's go.
Speaker 4 (29:35):
The team wasn't North Texas or West Texas.
Speaker 1 (29:38):
Or Texas State, Texas State Texas which there is, right,
But they're the same color.
Speaker 4 (29:42):
It's the green and it's the same exact color as
that mean green is what we're talking about. You know
it's Texas State. It's going to be in the pack. Well, yeah,
tells you all you need to know about college athletics.
Texas State's going to be in the PAC twelve next
year with oh yeah, Poise State, San Diego State. North
Dakota State gave coach town Poli Sick an extension through
twenty thirty three.
Speaker 2 (30:01):
His team twelve and zero right now.
Speaker 4 (30:03):
Buffalo Bill signed wide receiver Brandon Cook, Saint sign kicker
Kade York. In an update I do see, Chris dun
was kicked out of the game walking to the locker room.
Speaker 2 (30:11):
Free throws made.
Speaker 4 (30:12):
Lakers won twenty four one thirteen over the Clippers three
and a half to go back.
Speaker 2 (30:17):
Thank you, Steve. Yeah.
Speaker 1 (30:18):
I think my favorite Robert Loser from Necessary Rough was
when he was coaching for Rector Alazando who was in
the hospital and like the he calls a play on
offense that I think Edison, who is Jason Bateman's car
just gets blown up on it and he goes, We're
never running that again, and he.
Speaker 2 (30:33):
Takes the play out of the playbook, he crumbles it
up and throws it away. We're never calling that one.
Speaker 4 (30:39):
Again, and then goes over to the piano keys on
the floor and starts playing I'm sorry.
Speaker 2 (30:44):
That was big. My late uncle one of his favorite actors.
Speaker 1 (30:47):
If he showed up in a movie, he's like, sit
out and watch the greatness that is Loosh. Robert Loja
Staaten Island's own Wagner College. Robert Loja r as in
Robert Loja, oh as in Oh my odd, it's Robert Lows.
I'm Wi Brimley, and I'd like to talk to you
for a few minutes about beat it Now. We got
(31:07):
a big NFL story coming up in the fumes, a
big hot take. But Frostburg's got something on Luka Doncic
that I didn't want to believe was true, but it is,
and he's got the details right now, Frostburg, what do
you got on it?
Speaker 2 (31:21):
Go ahead?
Speaker 1 (31:22):
Can you believe if I were to tell you, would
you believe that Luka Doncish is now tenth place in
regular season Lakers history all time forty point games, tenth place.
Speaker 2 (31:33):
Tenth already he's already in tenth place.
Speaker 1 (31:35):
He's already in tenth place. Okay, just passed Magic Johnson.
He has got the forty point games as a Laker.
He's now number ten, not even a season than Magic
Johnson for his entire career. Let's have some fun then,
so cap worthy, I can't even imagine. I can't believe
(31:55):
that's true. Well, you believe Magic Johnson didn't have more
forty point games?
Speaker 2 (32:00):
Like I know? This is regular season magic. Kind of
a bunch of go to the playoffs. Yeah, but still
it's Magic. It's regular season. That's him.
Speaker 1 (32:08):
That's incredible. Okay, sure he'll tweet about it. It would
be ahead. I would say, Kobe's ahead. Kobe's number one
with one hundred and twenty two. Lebron is ahead of him, Lebron,
Lebron's a half. Yeah, Kareem definitely ahead of him Worthy.
Speaker 2 (32:26):
I don't think Worthy was that was that much. Well, again,
it's only a season and a half. True, that's true.
Speaker 1 (32:32):
I'm trying to think go back for some some Sharpshooters
they had no Van Xell would it would have been Baylor,
No Belgian, Baylor's number two with eighty eight really okay?
Speaker 2 (32:41):
Okay? Gail Goodrich, Gail good good Rich, Yeah, okay. Oh,
Jerry West, Jerry West. Six of them? Okay, how many
we missing?
Speaker 1 (32:51):
Now?
Speaker 2 (32:52):
That's what do we have? Five? Is that five out
of the six out of the ten? Start thinking big men? Oh?
Speaker 1 (32:58):
Oh will wilt Shack is not one of them?
Speaker 2 (33:04):
Really? Shock wows? Twenty six of them? Wow? Wow, twenty
six in a row. I guess he would have been
fighting Kobe for this.
Speaker 1 (33:13):
Yeah, yeah, that's true, and I win if you win,
you think bigs?
Speaker 2 (33:17):
Oh Andrew Bindham part right, Anthony Davis, uh oh wow,
A d really has what he's got? Fifteen of them?
Speaker 1 (33:26):
Okay, all right again season and a half. Okay, okay,
you know you're right. Maybe basically a season at this
point like over the Magic Johnson part. Oh, well, right,
who's the last one who is missing. Who's the last one?
Speaker 2 (33:39):
Gil Good Richard? You said that rich yet, George micn.
Speaker 1 (33:43):
Okay another big yeah, yeah, Okay, all right, there we go.
I can't Lucas already on the I can't believe more
than crazy exit up. It's got exit swollen Dome, Lakers
putting the finishing touches on this win over the Clippers.
We'll have a big recap on that coming up next,
as well as a big quarterback hot take. One of
the quarterbacks we've been talking about all season long. I
(34:05):
wonder if he's played his final game of the year.
That's next, Jason to Mike Fox Sports Radio. That is
imagic Johnson Tween.
Speaker 2 (34:13):
