Speaker 3 (00:50):
We got people Happy Shark Week, right, Okay, it's a celebration.
There's a Jason Momoa has some some work for us.

Speaker 1 (00:57):
So there's a show on now called bull a bull
Shark Tails or something like that.

Speaker 3 (01:03):
That's good, you know.

Speaker 1 (01:04):
I mean, the the only time I've heard a bull
shark was a line from Caddy Shack. Can you make
a bull shark. Can you make a shoot smell? Hey,
you're very funny. I mean, I didn't know.

Speaker 3 (01:12):
No, bull sharks are a big deal. They're they're terrifying.

Speaker 1 (01:15):
Are they really? Oh? I didn't know that. You know
if you said to me because.

Speaker 3 (01:18):
Sumaciouscause everybody worries about the great white No, no, no, yeah,
the bull shark or.

Speaker 1 (01:23):
Bull sharks like Quinn Williams the very because they could
also live in rivers and stuff like old how do
they get in rivers though, Well, there's entry ways they
get on they get on land and they walk over
had shark. That's pretty cool because I just found out that,
like apparently, hammerhead sharks are not dangerous. I mean this
is not don't take this with any any sort of

(01:44):
definitive proofside, but I've heard that that hammerhead sharks aren't.

Speaker 3 (01:47):
Yeah, they just had the look.

Speaker 1 (01:49):
They just had. They live. They're pretty tough with the
eyes on either side like that. I mean, how do
you evolve?

Speaker 3 (01:53):
And then you had that guy that was a crewman
of Davy Joe. He was evolving into it hammerhead.

Speaker 1 (02:00):
You can start belaeting in ghost stories. You're in one.
Why there's a talking some kind of cnmony that is
now telling me I have to get down to Davy Jones'.

Speaker 3 (02:11):
Anemone, deliver Colonel.

Speaker 1 (02:13):
Sanders down to Davy Jones locker rumming and stealing it. Astrune,
Fox Sports Radio, Welcome inside final Hour time my shirt. Hey,
will we get to a big story out of the
NFL because we have the results of the big NFL
running back. Oh yeah, zoom call. But earlier today, CBS

(02:37):
put out their announcing teams for the first three weeks
of the NFL season, and week one, I look to
see where was Tony Romo. Week one, Jim Nance and
Tony Romo are doing the Eagles and the Patriots. And
then the next two weeks they're both doing Jets games.
And the Jets have the national game both week two

(02:58):
and week three. So you're talking about week one the
Jets or Monday Night Football. Week two, they're the national
game on CBS. Week three they're the national game on CBS,
and you have Jim Nance and Tony Romo to tell
us the tale.

Speaker 3 (03:10):
And when they're owing three and the worm is turning,
it's gonna be great.

Speaker 1 (03:14):
Jim, Jim, Jim, did you know Aaron Rogers is on
the Jets This is a huge story, Jim. How soon
is Jim? I missed that?

Speaker 3 (03:22):
Jim?

Speaker 1 (03:22):
What did that happen? Jim? How soon Jim?

Speaker 3 (03:25):
First broadcast they do of a Jets game, does Romo
ask Nance about ayahuasca?

Speaker 1 (03:33):
Jim? You ever tried that? Jim, Jim? You ever going
to darkness retreat? Jim? Here there's no lights on, Jim
Jim Jim Jim.

Speaker 3 (03:40):
Does that not strike you as something? Romo will be
fascinated it and try to jab in to the conversation wherever.

Speaker 1 (03:46):
I just picturing Jim Nat just shaking his head every
single time Tony says something, yeah, yeah, A look.

Speaker 3 (03:51):
At that throw he made. It's like that cornerback was
in a darkness room.

Speaker 1 (03:55):
Jim. You know, Jim, Jim Jim Jim Jim. It's harder
to complete passes when your eyes are closed.

Speaker 3 (04:02):
Jim.

Speaker 1 (04:02):
You know that, Jim, Jim, Jim Jim. That's a huge story, Jim.

Speaker 4 (04:05):
Jim, Jason, Jim, What if I were to tell you?
There in their booth, in their TV booth, Jim Nance
still has the pexy glass up from COVID.

Speaker 3 (04:14):
Do you stay over there? Why is it tinted?

Speaker 4 (04:18):
No?

Speaker 1 (04:19):
Look at me, I'm Jim nance Welcome to Week one
of the NFL season. Today we have the Eagles and
the Patriots. The Eagles coming off the near Super Bowl title.
Jim Jim. The Eagles were the Super Bowl Jim Jim.
We didn't do that game, so I stopped watching Jim
Jim Jim. Jalen hurts us in the Super Bowl. Jim Jim.
I don't believe that, Jim Jim. That's that true, Jim Jim.

Speaker 3 (04:41):
The greatness returns so exciting. We start getting all these
little tidbits and broadcasting teams, but just talking football in general.

Speaker 4 (04:51):
Jim.

Speaker 1 (04:51):
We're doing the Jets game the next two weeks, Jim Jim.
Do you know that, Jim Jim Jim. We can stay
here all week. Jim.

Speaker 3 (04:58):
Well, you know what's great is for the the following week,
they don't have to ask any questions talk to the
principles Him.

Speaker 1 (05:05):
Did you really retire, Jim or did you retire? Jim Jim,
But you do, Jim, you're doing that safe tournament anymore,
Jim Jim, Jim, what.

Speaker 4 (05:14):
You know?

Speaker 3 (05:14):
I really you make Romo out to be the excited
fifteen year old. Well, there might have been sitting outside
on a doorstep waiting for someone's ex Boyfriend's just excitable
about everything.

Speaker 1 (05:26):
Man, you gotta listen to the whole show.

Speaker 3 (05:27):
Jim.

Speaker 1 (05:28):
You gotta try these sketchers on. Jim. The one thing
I regret is that my Tony Romo impression didn't hit
until the last game they did, the last playoff game
of the regular season. I'm like, I'm not gonna wait
like nine months for Tony Romo to do something.

Speaker 3 (05:44):
But here's the thing. He's gotta be careful because you
know what Nance is gonna come back with. You know
you've been at the golf thing a lot. Steph Curry
came in and owned.

Speaker 1 (05:54):
Jim. You know how hard it is to get a
hole in one, Jim, Jim, Jim, come on, let me
talk about some of the some of the amateur tournaments
I Jim, Jim Jim. I mean, seriously, Jim, Jim, Jim.
Would you announce me, Jim? If I made it to
the Masters, can you get me and Jim, you can
get me an exemption, can't you? Because I would do it,
Then you can announce me, Jim Jim. How cool would
that be? Jim? Jim Jim?

Speaker 3 (06:12):
Come on, Jim, if suddenly Jim Nance had exceptions. You
know what I've always wanted to call this guy's batswing
Ladies and gentlemen.

Speaker 1 (06:22):
Now on to team Charles Berkley. I met on a
Jim Nance except Jim. How come he didn't give me
an exemption? Jim Jim, Jim, I'm your best friend. We
just stuff together all the time. Jim Jim, you give
it to Steph Curry because he got a hole in one.

Speaker 3 (06:36):
You can come and play on the course in my backyard.

Speaker 1 (06:39):
Come on, Jim, Jim. You gave one to Shack.

Speaker 4 (06:41):
Jim.

Speaker 1 (06:41):
You had to play golf, Jim, Jim, Come on, Jim, Jim, Jim,
Come on, Jim, Jim Jim.

Speaker 4 (06:48):
Zach Wilson's coming in, Jim, Jim.

Speaker 1 (06:51):
Jim, I haven't done research. Zach Wilson is still the quarterback? Right?
Is that? Is that right?

Speaker 3 (06:55):
Right?

Speaker 1 (06:55):
Or is it boomer a science? And I don't know,
Jim Jim. I keep looking, Jim, Yeah, boomer into Jim Jim.
We're doing Philadelphia, New England, Jim, Jim, think about this, Jim.
Jalen Hurts and Tom Brady going out of Jim. How
cool is that, Jim, Jim? How cool?

Speaker 4 (07:07):
Is that?

Speaker 1 (07:07):
How cool is that?

Speaker 3 (07:08):
I'm just too giddy, Jim Jim Him, how christ The
mere mention of Romo's Jame has you salivating? But I mean, look,
week one, we also get Dolphins at Chargers.

Speaker 1 (07:20):
On the call. My god, Kevin harm and Harland right.
Oh the guy is drunk, but there he goes me.
It could be it could be a.

Speaker 3 (07:28):
Man opening day. I gotta see what my daughter's soccer
schedule is.

Speaker 1 (07:33):
Oh, that'd be fun. I'm just saying, why is Kevin? Oh,
Kevin Harlan's assignments have come out? He's the best. Jim
Jim Jim. How do we do the thing Jim where
one week I work with a different broadcaster Jim Jim,
How cool would that be? Jim? You think other guys
at CBS would go for it? Jim and I wouldn't
prepare at all. I wouldn't do any research, Just like
last year, I would just say whatever I wanted to say. Jim, Jim,

(07:53):
How cool would that be? Jim? Can you make a
call for me? Jim? Like, I'll do it Jame with you, Jim,
and then somebody else Jim. Jim will be so cool?
Jim Jim Jim Jim, Jim.

Speaker 4 (08:02):
Jim watch the Cowboys, Jim Jim.

Speaker 1 (08:07):
You know, Jim, I could play for the You know
I played for this team, right, You know I played
for the Cowboys, right, Jim, Jim Jim. I was a
quarterback before Dak Right. I was a guy, you know, Jim.
How much money I got paid? Jim Jim. They gave
me a lot of money, Jim Jim.

Speaker 3 (08:18):
And then nance pulls out his check book and shows
the balance and he.

Speaker 1 (08:23):
Just starts cursing when the Jets start winning, Dog Jim,
this would never happen if I was playing, Jim Jim,
Jim Jim, I would I would hit ceedee lamb on that,
Jim Jim Jim, Come on, Jim, you know, Jim, I'd
have made that play. I was such an easy throw
from Rogers. Didn't really take anything special, man, Honey, how
about you try to tell the future about this play.
It's gonna be a pick, Jim, because he's not as

(08:44):
good as I am. Jim. Jim watched this watching Jim
Duck's throwing a pick, Jim Jim Jim Jim. I can't
wait for I can't wait for Tony Rowan to come back.

Speaker 3 (08:55):
There are moments where where a child like glee comes
through in a whole other way. Rosburg and Teher just
looking and shaking their heads because you have gone into
that space of football.

Speaker 4 (09:08):
What's gonna be more funny the way Tony Romo announces
the game and does his gyms, or the Jets getting blown.

Speaker 1 (09:14):
Up by oh stop stop stop the Jets and the
Jets three.

Speaker 4 (09:18):
You've seen these team in three on what even Hyahuasca
You you've seen these.

Speaker 1 (09:22):
Preseason highlights on on on x x X.

Speaker 3 (09:26):
I just keep telling you that's you gotta worry about
your defensive issue.

Speaker 1 (09:30):
These highlights doesn't matter.

Speaker 3 (09:32):
Your defensive backfield is getting shredded. No, it's not Sauce
Garden's hair it up every play.

Speaker 1 (09:37):
No, no, when he knows it.

Speaker 3 (09:38):
Old Wilson's running past every day play every day.

Speaker 4 (09:42):
The Jets have gone from being the fifty Sauce even
Rogers Rogers. Everybody's gonna Rogers and Sauce. Buddy s Rogers, Rogers'
sauce by the end of the week laces out.

Speaker 1 (09:59):
By the end of the week. He's gonna be on
board with Hey, the Jets are winning fourteen games. It's
gonna be a boarding world because you're seeing these great
highlights from camp. Look at that great highlight from the everywhere.
Look at this passing slow motion from Aaron Rodgers to
Garret Wilson. They're winning thirteen games. He's gonna catch two

(10:20):
d pat story is.

Speaker 3 (10:21):
The uncanny likeness of Aaron Rodgers, the great Kazoo.

Speaker 1 (10:26):
I think you're burying the lead. He has dumb dumbs.
I mean every every day. Look at this. I look
at Aaron Rodgers throw the football like he had that.
He had that, dude. He saw the touchdown pass to
count Corey Davis two days ago. I didn't see. The
Jets officially went from eight wins to twelve wins in
Vegas because Corey caught a passer. Aaron Rodgers threw a

(10:49):
kind of side arm, and it was great, telling you
who was a great foe.

Speaker 3 (10:53):
It was great for the Jets. Well, it was bad
to smoke a cigarette after you watch.

Speaker 1 (10:57):
It's gonna get dude, it gets way talking about Pice.
We get another month of practice, mane, I'll get another
month of it. It's got another month. It's gonna great,
It's gonna be awesome.

Speaker 4 (11:06):
Fourteen wins.

Speaker 1 (11:07):
You bet that you can live in Tony Romo's house, Jason, Jim, Jim,
I lost my house some guy in the radio, Jim
because he bet that Aaron Rodgers is gonna win fourteen games. Jim, Jim.
I can't believe that, Jim. I gotta get all my
Cowboys stuff out, Jim, all the all the game balls.
I got that football I got from the game where
Dez tried to score the touchdown and if that ruled
an incomplete pass. I got that football. Gym.

Speaker 3 (11:27):
Gotta go back and see if we can get you
to go to a casino and just I don't care
that they're over unders nine and a half. I want
to bet fourteen.

Speaker 1 (11:36):
Well, I gonna get better rods at that run, of course.

Speaker 3 (11:39):
But just see idea of you want to get one.
I BET's not going over nine and a half. I
want to bet they go fourteen and three. Shirt. It's
the same money you do, only have to get nine. No, no,
it's too easy. You gonna be fourteen. In fact, I'll
take fourteen and a half. By the way, it is
nine and a half. I was right, you're spotting the casino.
You know what, I'm gonna sp you five extra.

Speaker 1 (12:01):
Win how about that? How do you feel about that?
Here you go, I'll give fourteen.

Speaker 3 (12:05):
I don't want the extra wins.

Speaker 1 (12:08):
I don't need me. And let me know your schedule
so I can go back and collect from you. I
want you to pay me when I come, because you're
the guy that was here when I was here to
go do it. I'll spot you, all right? Where's my
ride home? Where's the right home? Am I getting out
of here? All right?

Speaker 2 (12:25):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Jason Smith
Show with Mike harmon weekdays at ten pm Eastern, seven
pm Pacific five second Dance Party.

Speaker 5 (12:34):
Jason, don't pull anything?

Speaker 1 (12:36):
What is that? That's me shaking the salt, salt pepper.
I'm shaking the salt, shaking the salt, salt, pepper, salt
and says salt and peppers here, salt and peppers here.
And I wanted push match Box twenty. I'm almost there
from the Barbie movie. You know that close?

Speaker 4 (12:59):
How much pushing and can do?

Speaker 1 (13:00):
And we are getting closer. Fox Sports Radio The Jason
Smith Show with my best friend Mike Harme.

Speaker 5 (13:07):
Mason, how do they decide if salt came before pepper?
Do you say pepper and salt or you say salt
and pepper. No you know I was put pepper first.

Speaker 1 (13:13):
No you don't. You're a lunatic. That's why. Because Eddy
goes ps. You say salt and pepper.

Speaker 5 (13:18):
Let me guess you probably put your cereal in the
bowl and then the milk. Right do you say peanut
butter and jelly or jelly and peanut. I put jelly
than the peanut, of course. God, I just want to
be a reverend. I want to show everybody I'm a reverend.
And if any anybody's listening, the wants the data.

Speaker 1 (13:31):
Guy who's a reverend. That's what I'm doing here in
the radio. I'm showing you I'm a reverence. I'm a reverend.
I don't care. I'm just showing you that I'm a reverend.
That's me. I say jelly before peanut, butter and pepper
before with salt. The Revenue was a good movie.

Speaker 3 (13:47):
It's a hell of a bear right there. Let me
tell you, oh.

Speaker 1 (13:50):
By the way, just really quick. Yeah, not enthused with
Season two of The Bear so far? Not enthus You're
finished about halfway through? How's wrong with We get a
lot of things going on. We got secret invasion we have.
It's always sunny in Philadelphia. I said one after after
this last one, I'm ready. I'm ready to go. But
I'm like, it's one more episode.

Speaker 3 (14:11):
Okay, Yeah, I quit early.

Speaker 1 (14:13):
I gotta watch it.

Speaker 3 (14:13):
I gotta wait. I love Cheetle and Samuel Llen all
but uh.

Speaker 1 (14:18):
No, and it was terrible. You know, here's and you know,
and I'm just gonna say this real fast, is that.

Speaker 2 (14:22):
You know.

Speaker 1 (14:23):
What I like to say is that as much as
you think things are gonna be forever, sometimes things are
only dominant for a certain amount of time. Like all
Star games or the the the era of all Star
games have gone, have come and gone, right, the air
of certain things have come and gone. Maybe the Marvel
era had a great fifteen year run and it's completely

(14:44):
all over the place, and the multiverse has been a
drag and not really you know how you reboot, it's
been a great thing. So maybe Marvel and maybe the
Avengers has seen its day and it's time to do
something else. And I'm a firm believer that once Marvel
gets the X Men, that's gonna change things, because the
X Men will be The x Men are incredibly more,
way more popular than the Avengers were they just screwed

(15:06):
up the movie so bad with everything. But now that
Marvel's got the X Men, it's like, forget about this man.
The Avengers is Iron Man and Cap and Hulk and
Thor and Black Widow. You can't tell me all these
other people are Avengers. No, that works in the comic
book doesn't work in the movies. And you keep telling
me all these different multi verses that I don't care about.
In every single movie or TV show is a different multiverse.

(15:29):
It's fallen flat. It's time to move on.

Speaker 3 (15:31):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (15:32):
I think the way you reboot it.

Speaker 3 (15:33):
I mean, the X Men thing is nice, and you know,
Wolverine running around with Deadpool. Yeah great, yeah, buddy, But
how you're rebooting it is Thomas Hayden Church talking today.
Rumors he's hearing that Sam Raimi's wanting to do another
Spider Man with Toby mcguider Man.

Speaker 1 (15:49):
I can get behind him and Spider Man four, Spider Mads,
Spider Mad, bring back Defoe from the Grave, and away
we go. No, you keep me Spider Man movies. There
you go. That's that's why I keep you Spider Man.
And you told me MacGuire because that's the Spider Man spot.
Toby McGuire would be coming back, and you know, but
the other one, you know, who knows you need to
bring back Kirston Gunstider Man Spider. I think you'd have to.

(16:10):
It'd be good Man Spider Man.

Speaker 3 (16:12):
We had the multiverse where she and Emma Stone are
in it together.

Speaker 1 (16:15):
Yeah, why not? Because that'd be good Spider Man Spider.

Speaker 3 (16:17):
I'd go see that movie and then they say with
Mary Jane Parker and then they sing City of Stars together.

Speaker 1 (16:22):
City of I'm telling you right, Ryan Reynolds, Ryan Gosling,
I'm pretty sure it took great singing lessons because he
sounds much better in Barbie that he did in La
La In. Maybe they just had more money for Barbie
and they were able to make his voice sound better,
or maybe he didn't really sing they didn't have the money.
That could be it as well. But I mean, the
Ken song was way better than come on that piano

(16:45):
was great Ken song? The Ken Song and no Ken
Jong Surprise, No Ken John better song?

Speaker 4 (16:52):
The Ken Song?

Speaker 1 (16:53):
Okay?

Speaker 4 (16:54):
Or Browser Bowser from Super Mario Bowservie peaches better the piano?
What's better than both of those? I want to push
you around. Well, Well, well, I, well, you're harassing yourself.

Speaker 1 (17:10):
I do you want to stare in my eyes for
four and a half minutes while I'm.

Speaker 3 (17:12):
Saying this uncomfortably? Well it's the third time he's brought
it up.

Speaker 1 (17:19):
Well, well, So there was a big conference call over
the weekend between all the running backs who are upset
that running backs aren't getting paid.

Speaker 3 (17:27):
Uh.

Speaker 1 (17:27):
This brought to light Saquon Barkley, Tony Pollard, Josh Jacobs
last week all getting the franchise tag, No one's getting
a new deal. Running backs are upset. So that a
big conference call. Nothing was decided, it was just all
the guys got together. Hey, we're on a big zoom call.
What do we think? We're not getting paid? What do
we do?

Speaker 3 (17:46):
I don't know.

Speaker 1 (17:47):
Now this is a difficult conversation because the answer to
this question is and it's been funded debate, and it's
been good for the running backs to get it out there. Hey,
we're upset that we're not getting paid in a position
that that has meant so much to the NFL for
so long. We're responsible for so much. Why is this
not happening for us? And it's good to get that
out there because, yeah, running backs get pounded on every

(18:08):
single play and they have a much shorter shelf life
than any other position in the NFL. And yeah, you
want them to be able to make as much money
as they can. They sacrifice their bodies, they sacrifice the
later quality of life because hey, we want to enjoy
it we can now, and we want to get paid.
So I understand that. But the only answer to this
is nothing's going to happen. It is. It is the

(18:31):
world that we live in.

Speaker 2 (18:33):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Jason Smith
Show with Mike harmon weekdays at ten pm Eastern, seven
pm Pacific.

Speaker 1 (18:41):
Nothing's gonna the CBA isn't going to change another seven
years in the CBA before it comes up again. And
it was a bad cycles and it was a bad
and all these guys are going I'm not seeing that.
The guys at the beginning of their career saying I'm
not going to see that. John Robinson's not going to
see a change in his NFL career.

Speaker 3 (18:58):
He's had okay off to jump though. When when you
when you put it in the ranking, you know, based
on his draft status and everything, But.

Speaker 1 (19:05):
When you when you want to go from Hey, I'm
ready for my first big bite at the Apple. I'm
not getting a four year, fifty million dollar contract anymore.
It's not happening. And the only the only answer is
it's tough. But it's reality is that nothing's going to
change because running backs aren't going to get paid anymore
than they have to. Teams are doing this as a

(19:26):
business and it sucks. But the only thing you can
do if you're a running back is either you all
hold out. Right, all the star running backs say we're
not holding out till something's done with the CBA, and
running backs are that's and is that really gonna happen?
Is every is McCaffrey and Derrick Henry, are Jonathan Taylor?

(19:48):
Are they all gonna do just safe for the sake
of argument that they do? What is it going to change? Right?

Speaker 3 (19:54):
The second string running backs, the third string running backs,
the guys that are playing in any league that pops
up under God's green earth that looks like professional football,
they're lined up for a chance at a minimum, of course.

Speaker 1 (20:11):
And so guys, and we're not.

Speaker 3 (20:12):
Arguing at all. Nobody's taking away the talent of Taylor
and Henry and McCaffrey and bargling all these guys was
stipulate there's a difference between the top five or six guys.
That's why when they did the collective bargaining agreement, and
you know, the franchise tag became the average of the
top five salaries. That's where you're at.

Speaker 1 (20:30):
Yeah, and look and some players if they sat out
would be better. If McCaffrey sat out, that would be
a bigger deal than if Jonathan Taylor set out, because
the Colts would say, well, we're gonna be Anthony Richardson
driven anyway, so he's gonna be the guy, right, But
a team like the forty nine ers, Hey, we want
to win the Super Bowl. We don't know who our
quarterback is going to be. It could be Perty, it
could be Lands, it could be Sam Darnold, it could

(20:52):
be Steve Young. You know, we rely on him for
a lot. But that's not gonna happen, right. I mean,
it'd be great if that would really be something for
all the running backs, say we're all gonna sit out
until something is done. The only thing you can do,
and I mean this is the only solution because it's
not going to change. There's no loopholes. There's no meeting
that can happen. There's no owners meetings for this is
that you need to just go ball out, stay healthy,

(21:15):
and get paid year to year. It's the best thing
you can do. And if you can do those things,
you're going to get paid. It's not that you're not
gonna get paid. If you're a Saquon Barkley or you're
a Christian McCaffrey and you come up for free agency
and you're twenty six twenty seven, teams are gonna really
want you. They're just gonna not gonna want you for
more than a year because they don't know what can happen.
But if you ball out and say it's a performance thing, right,

(21:38):
it's hard to push well, what if something happens then
I get hurt. You can't say well, I really want
to get paid for not playing, and then the team
is gonna go, we don't want to pay you for
not playing. So the best thing to look at is
like it's just like anybody else, it's a performance league,
and it sucks that you don't have the Hey, I
got all this money up front, or I have all
this guaranteed money. You have to do it year to year.

(21:59):
It sucks, but that's the best thing to do. And
if you can do that, you will still make a
lot of money. Saquon Barkley this year is gonna make
ten million dollars, right, if he decides to play, he'll
make ten. If he has a good year and stays healthy,
the Giants will franchise him again and he'll get thirteen
million dollars for next.

Speaker 3 (22:13):
Year, or they'll come to some agreement on a two
year deal after that and maybe reward him with a
little bit of extra money. But at worst, well, let yeah,
let's just say worst case scenario, Barkley, they franchise him again,
he has another really good year, he's twenty eight years old,
somebody else.

Speaker 1 (22:30):
Is gonna want him. Hey, how about one year and
twelve million? Okay, And now, as long as he stays
healthy again, that's the thing. You're now making thirty six
thirty eight million dollars over the course of three years.
That's pretty good. Yeah, No one's telling you you can't
make it. You just have to stay healthy and productive.
That's the best thing you can do. That's the best advice.

(22:51):
If I had him on a conference call, I would say, guys,
I know it sucks. This is what you gotta do.
Stay healthy, be productive. Right, you can't stay healthy and
go on the tank. You gotta be productive with I
get you have to run for the extra yards. You
got to put your head down. You gotta do some
things because you want to make sure you show your
value to the team. And you got to do with
less carries most likely because you don't carry the ball
as much as you used to. You don't have those
games where it's twenty seven carries for one hundred and

(23:12):
forty seven yards in the time. You don't have that.
I know it sucks, but this is the best way forward.
When you're surrounded on all sides, what's the best thing
to do. What's the only outcome, and that's the only
outcome for running backs.

Speaker 3 (23:24):
Yeah, I keep seeing all all these theories profered of
how to fix things, and I like that that people
are trying to come to solutions. But it's like I
used to when I worked at Yahoo. Right, You'd be
in these long meetings and it'd be like hour two,
hour three, and then someone would say I've got an idea,
and within about three sentences of their whatever presentation they

(23:44):
wanted to give you, you could find about five holes
in it. Like we've already been here like half our morning.
There's a lot of stuff that needs to get done today.
We can't do this. Here's problem x y Z. I'll
let you go. I was always the bad guy for
trying like you're squashing. I'm like no, I'm just saying,
go back and figure these points out before we go.

(24:04):
So I like when people have ideas, but we've got
to be pragmatic, and you got to think about it
a little bit more so with the running back position,
you know, hold out his power and good luck with that.
That ain't gonna work. The idea that you'll be treated differently.
It's like, well, again, these guys are cycled out long
before the CBA is up. But even then, you think

(24:25):
other positions are suddenly gonna feel good about hey. You
know now they're showing preferential treatment because these guys were
upset and now all of a sudden, your guys sauce
guards like, well what about us? Or pick your guy
that becomes the leader of a position group or money
has to be you know, split up by position group,
which is really insane. You know, here's the percentage for quarterbacks.

(24:50):
The other and this is my favorite because it allows
us to bring in one of the greatest baseball movies
of all time is performance based. So based on your
statis you can now fight for whatever percentage of a
salary cap whatever that's I'm finding good.

Speaker 1 (25:06):
Twenty nine is not thirty any alert how many games
mister Seacott win for us this year? Now you looked
it up in a Rollodex twenty nine.

Speaker 3 (25:15):
Sir, But exactly that, right, If you're talking about you
got to get to some statistical benchmark as yards or
carries or yards per carry or touchdowns or whatever. There's
very easy ways to manipulate a lot of that. Yeah,
and that's what you want to get away from too.
There's any of that comes in and.

Speaker 1 (25:37):
You could even go But again this is for the
next CBA is to say, all right, what if every
team is allocated money, not salary cap wise for bonuses. Right,
Let's say for your running back, you play in fifteen games,
you get extra bonus money. Right, some way you can
do this to say, hey, you were good, you played
in all the games for us, and we're able to

(25:58):
give you an extra five hundred grand that doesn't come
out of the salary cap right, if you can find
that way. But again, that's the next collective part. There's
many things you can do. What's the next CBA comes up.
There's so many You could say, well, running backs, it's
only gonna be three years.

Speaker 3 (26:13):
Just don't always remember everything you want on that end,
Roger and Dell and his guys, R. Montgomery, Burns and
you on the other side going sure, sure you'd like
after three years, no DENI plan for you.

Speaker 1 (26:27):
But come on, you can have that, but you don't
have any benefits. How does that sounds. That's the kind
of thing that we talk about all the time. It's like,
all right, we'll take the day off. It's like, no,
the day off, Like that's the low hanging fruit. Don't
do that.
