The Yankees stay alive, coming back down from six to
one to beat the Blue Jays nine to six and
the Mariners one game away from the Alcs after they

beat the Tigers eight four game they were up eight
to one and Big Dumper out a big home run
and the ninth inning and everything looks awesome. So the
Mariners and Blue Jays can still clinch tomorrow. However, both
teams going in completely different directions after the night tonight.
Right Yankees first, there is nothing less confidence inspiring that

show is on with a Rod and Jeter and Kevin
Burkhart and they're talking about game four tomorrow and you
see the big font that just says TBD versus Cam Schlittler.

been the story of the playoffs, rookie twelve strikeouts against
the Red Sox, best rookie hurler since Whitey Ford, or
you know all the different things you have seen.

Well, when we get to the playoffs, because I mean
Paul's kings doesn't matter in those conversations, there is nothing
less inspiring than that one hundred. As you start throwing

it's we know. The bullpen games become part of the existence,

opens the door. Talk about managerial decisions. I didn't like

that Rodin didn't have his best stuff, Yet you let
that continue to bleed to where you gave up to
a six one six' one deficit in an elimination. Game
now on The Blue jays, side once the door was
open and the comeback had, begun that you didn't pull

how do you otherwise he's creating great meals either?

swing like? That that's just like a kind of a

Ball but with that, swing there's no way that should
be hit like. That no, Way there's absolutely no. Way absolute.
Power now you would, say, okay biggest play of the
game or Oh Jazz chisholm's home run that gave The
yankees the lead seven to, six uh what six innings
of shutout bullpen by The. Yankees, Right all these things

say biggest play of the, game biggest play of the.
Game all of those things are be, incorrect because this
is why when we spend so much time talking about
teams defense in the, playoffs these are the plays that
keep you up. Nights these are the plays that keep
you from moving on and. Winning Aaron judge is only
able to tie this game with a three run homer

Because Addison, barger who was in the, game pinch hitting
in the third. Inning, right this is how the ray
we're going for it here we got because barjar in
the game for, offense right in the, game, right pinch, Out,
great we're gonna go four, four and he drops a
fly ball that should have been caught that you could
tell he had trouble with right, away drops a fly

ball instead of two outs runner at, first it's one,
out two, on And Aaron judge then hits the home
run that ties the.

Game you make the pitching, Change varlin comes in and
gives up the long.

Ball it's it's it's that's the play that flipped momentum
because The yankees had made it six to, three but
The Blue jays were able to keep the damage down
right when they Got stanton to fly, Out all, right
that makes it six to. Three, okay we got a
three a lot of game, left but it's still a
three run, lead, Right we're still feeling pretty.

Good but that, like but you felt, like are The?
Yankee The yankees are. Coming The yankees are.

Coming but that pop up like that was the play
that forever tilted the rest of the game towards The
yankees and away from The Blue. Jays The Blue jays
never got off the deck after. That it Was judge's home,
run then it Was chisholm's home. Run then it was
another run and another, run and they bled them out
to nine to, six and The Blue jays kept going.
Quietly then they had one hit at one extra base

hit in the sixth, inning and they stranded.

Him but at six to, Three volpi strikes out to
start that, inning you have the pop up should be out.
Instead Then grissom, walks and now it's it's first and
second to Bring judge to the plate where he seemed
to be every TIME i looked. Up it is z omni,
presdent like one of those things in a horror. Movie he's,
like is he? Closer? Eh maybe maybe there is, again,

uh but giving up, Outs, like we've seen this the.
Fundamentals we expect this from the bottom, feeders, right we
expect this from The White sox and The rockies and
these teams trying to find their way that fundamentals are
going to fell. Them time it. Again but we're watching
this and high leverage playoff situations way too, frequently, right

whether it's the. Hitting and we joke With John Palmer rosi,
about you, know having the addendum to the rules of
no more, bunting so you give up outs that way
by not being able to. Execute but then we look
at these just, fundamentals just fly, balls hustle. Plays we've
seen it in the, outfield over running a ball in the, corner,

right what was it it Was paez yesterday where he
played that. Ball it's, like how do you not either
cut it off or just play the, caram just don't
play it into an extra?

Right and here's another. SITUATION i get. It running. Catch
you start looking and trying to navigate how many steps
you are to the to the foul line and to
the stands and all of that. Stuff but you open
the door and then you Know Aaron judge announced his
presence with, AUTHORITY i mean like he was.

Nucleus you watch the.

Replay and and it's this is a play WHERE i
get you want to make the catch. Right, however because
of the alignment of the infield With grisham, up third
base and shortstop are a lot closer to second base
than they are to third, right because you can't do
the you can't do the the uh fall on shift.
Anymore but everybody moves as much as they.

Can.
Speaker 1 (09:34):
Right how many times have you seen a gromble up the?
Middle and because a shortstop is one step to the
ride of second, base he's able to get there and
get there. Right but this is a play where defensively
you have to know where you are and understand the.
Situation barger's got to come a longer way to get
this ball that he. Misplays he doesn't he doesn't see
it come, down and it's tailing away from. Him and
(09:55):
you Have schneider coming in from left field and he
calls him off really, early and you see the ball
lands and it's, LIKE i don't know that he really
knew where it was when he called. It he probably
saw the pop up got out. THERE i can make this.
Catch but, remember because he's not in a normal third base,
position it's a lot further to. Go it's a little
and it's a different. Thing and that's a play Where i'm,
(10:17):
sorry but you have to. KNOW i KNOW i want
to make the, play but this is a much easier
play for the left fielder coming in, right so much
as you play For schneider to come in and to
make this. Play and he stops because, Okay i'm not getting.
Close he calls the ball and you see where it.
Lands it lands about ten to twelve feet away from
where he. IS i, mean that's a long way from to.
Go try to go get that.

Ball and that's again that's part of defensive where in
the alignment you have to understand in the moment because of. This,
okay if the ball is hit, here this is What i'm, thinking,
Right you always have to know what AM i gonna?
Speaker 1 (10:50):
Rit you see guys say it all the. Time usually
it's on ground ball to first. BASE i have to
know what AM i doing with the ball with if
the infield is, in if they hit it to, me
AM i going? Home AM i gonna go to. Second
if it's a slow hit ground, ball what AM i?
Doing if it's a hard hit ground, ball what AM i?
Doing but the same thing you have to, realize you, know, infield,
okay because the infields are playing over this. Way if
you get a pop up And grisham crosses you up

by hitting it down the, line you have to, know,
okay it's a really far from me to run to get.
To so if the left fielder and the left fielder's
playing in a little, bit because again you know It's grisham's,
lefty you have to be able to, Say, OKAY i
can't get. It he's gonna come get the. Ball you
called it off way too, early AND i don't know
that he really saw the ball when he called, it
because you see him look, UP i got.

It and then he sprints another ten to twelve yards
to try to get the, ball so you knew that
he didn't really see it when it was up, there.
Right he picks it up really really late and gets
over and it still hits him in the middle of the.
Glove it's not like it tails so far away where
it just ticks off the front like it hits him
in the middle of the glove and he drops. It
and these are the plays that keep everybody up in

A judge it's a three Run. Homer you go, okay,
right you, say, OKAY i get. It you know it's
a three On. Homer judge Is.

Judge but maybe he doesn't even hit. It you, know
if you do, it, man and that doesn't tie the,
game it's still the. Lead but that because that, play
like that's the absolute biggest play of the game and
it's not even. Close, well that's. It wells is safe
at second you walk grisome and Then judge comes up
and immediately deposited off the foul. Pole right one that we,

watched and some of the different views that we've been
able to get over the course of the, night from social,
media from umpire, cams from everything, else it's just the
thing of you, know ridiculous nature in terms of What
judge was able to. Do but all of it sets
up with once, again defensively. Right we talked about and
extolled the virtues of the wheel play And Mookie betts

and what they were able to do last. Night The
dodgers on the badly placed bunt that comes back to

third and everything else. That you, know we've seen the
excellence of x cution of phraseology that maybe you want

our different, influences and certainly, wrestling but when we're talking
about these kinds of, plays the margin for error is
so much less in the. Playoffs, right the objects in
the mirror are much closer than they. Appear it may

made the proper, pitch, right and that's the.
