Manci Bolanos sprint down the hallway all the way into
the Update studio because she was going to be late
for her update. She got there, did the update and

(01:12):
then I thought she was going to die because she
really looked like she couldn't get her breath after the up.

Speaker 3 (01:17):
Whatever happened to, what happens in the studio stays in
the studio.

Speaker 1 (01:20):
Well we're on YouTube now though, I mean, that's why
you can see it clear. She doesn't skip leg day. Yeah,
some cardio, ay, But the way she was breathing at
the end, I said, Wow, we're gonna need somebody at
ten thirty because she's going to die right here the
update you made it a fatalent.

Speaker 3 (01:37):
Yeah, you do that after four steps.

Speaker 1 (01:39):
And again that's why, that's why I would not run.
I would say, well, guess why, I feel like Ralphie,
your favorite spirit. I'd just say, guess what. Yeah, the
update's gonna start. I'm not gonna be there. I'll be
there in time. Now, that's all right, I'll pick up
the update now in progress.

Speaker 4 (01:53):
Well, this is where you get those extra couple of seconds,
you know that we always panic about, like there's.

Speaker 1 (01:58):
There's no noise. But let's say, Moncey, can you talk
or you are you still breathing? Heavy?

Speaker 5 (02:02):
You?

Speaker 1 (02:02):
Okay? I think I'm okay, I'm okay. Now what okay?
I'm just laughing now, No I am. I'm okay. Now,
I don't think you are. No, I don't think you are. Yeah, no,
I I am.

Speaker 2 (02:14):
I feel better.

Speaker 5 (02:15):
I've caught my breath for a second. Though, You're right,
I should have played a longer clip.

Speaker 1 (02:22):
If you're picturing Manchy right now, when you picture an
NFL player on the sideline, like after one hundred yard
kickoff return for a touchdown and he comes right off
the field, he goes right to the oxygen and he
just stands there and like he holds it over his
face while his ball. His teammates are patting him on
the head and just looking up going yeah yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, thanks. Thanks. Yeah,
that's Monty right now.

Speaker 5 (02:42):
But I didn't tap out like Anthony Richardson.

Speaker 1 (02:45):
Wow, I mean wow, that is I'd swiped Anthony Richardson
right there. Okay, I haven't talked about the Colts at all.
All right, thanks, Monty, I'll get some more. I'm going
to get some more.

Speaker 4 (02:59):
Hi's great. Yeah, that was awesome.

Speaker 1 (03:02):
Though she's gonna stand She's gonna stand there with her
hands on her head, like when you know to get
your breath, when you when you fold your hands over
the top of your head to get the the most
in uh inhaling. You can get exhaling in helen exhal.

Speaker 4 (03:15):
Now my favorite are all the people here that go
to hot yoga around the building. Oh, yes, everybody goes,
but they have to fight to get the party spot
closest and we'll sit there and wait you out for
like twenty minutes if they need to.

Speaker 1 (03:29):
Like, there's there's levels, man, there's levels. Yes, you can walk,
you're going to yoga. I like, I love everybody who
goes to yoga and takes the parking spots to people
who actually work here. I gotta go to hot YOA don't.
Isn't hot yoga? You go and you do yoga and
someone yells at you. Yeah. Really, that's something that people.
I thought yoga was something that was supposed to be
very transcendental and it's it's very much your one with

(03:51):
the universe. But it said no, no, the other song,
someone's gonna yell at you. Well, I mean part of it.
This doesn't make sense. It's hot. Yeah, no, I know,
but I know it's hot, But how does that when
yoga yoga? But yoga is supposed to be something that
is calming. Yeah, you know what yoga is supposed to
be like, because I know what yoga is supposed to

(04:12):
be like. You know yo dun, I know you call me.
It must be yelling it you want, says yoga, yogurt yogurt?
Yeah that you say that. When I was a kid,
when I was like five years old, and like, yoga
was always on Channel thirteen, the public channel, and I
would see it and I would go, mom, mom, mom,
is that yoga? Is that? Can I have some? And she,
because when I was she thought that it was that

(04:34):
I was thinking it was yogurt and they were doing
something with yogurt on that on the show. Yeah, I
really did thought it was a right. This is back
when I thought like the superintendent was like the head janitor,
Like that's what I thought, superintendent of schools. Oh, it's
a head janitor, right, This is the person works in
a building in charge of the janitors New York City.
But no, yeah, now since we're talking about running, let

(04:56):
let's do this football story. Yeah he was the super
super but yeah, yeah, you do all the impressions too
of all the different people. Oh yeah, Johnny Goodman, right, yes,
I love good times. Uh, Yeah, since we're talking about running,
we'll do this story now. So farewell to Ralphie the sixth,

(05:17):
the latest Colorado University Buffalo mascot who was announced today
is retiring, not going to run out on the field anymore.
Four years as mascot. Okay, had a good run, right,
four years? I mean I don't. I don't know how
long buffaloes run for. I don't know how long buffaloes
have that for. I mean, I I don't know. Uh,

(05:38):
maybe four years is really good. Maybe four years is underachieving.
I don't. I don't know, you know, I don't know.
Maybe maybe you know four years, like like, are you
you're the Tracys, You're the Tracy McGrady of buffaloes. You're
underachieving or are you overachieving? Like you're the you know,
I don't know, you're the uh Tom Brady of Buffalo.

(06:00):
I don't know, you could be. I don't think that.

Speaker 4 (06:01):
Now you're bringing up that Tracy mcgracy that debate people
were trying to have.

Speaker 1 (06:07):
So so here's the thing, is that Ralphie the sixth,
which name is what esther eleanor Ember Ember, is retiring
effective immediately. Now why now, First, I want to tell
you the buffalo is okay. Everything is fine, right, The
buffalo is fine. Ralphie the sixth retiring because of quote

(06:27):
and this is a release from Colorado an indifference to running.
But basically, the buffalo doesn't want to run anymore. It
doesn't want to run, they said, Ralphie the six would
rather just walk around the meadow, sniff flowers and enjoy
the life that, hey, Ralphie so richly deserves. So now

(06:49):
you're gonna get a new Ralphie, Ralphie the seventh, I'm sure,
with a new name effective immediately. Because if you can't
get the buffalo to run, you know, why do you
bring him on the field?

Speaker 6 (06:57):
Like you know?

Speaker 1 (06:58):
He's on the field to run? Run, Ralphie run. This
buffalo is my hero because running is the worst thing
in the world. No one should ever have to run
if they don't want to. Running is awful. Again, Matt
Damon at the end of air, Why would anybody do this?
This is the worst thing in the world. This is
just stupid. Why am I running? If you don't want

(07:18):
to run? Nobody should be able to make you the
beauty of it is.

Speaker 4 (07:21):
He also chose not to and still collected fat paychecks
for a long time.

Speaker 2 (07:27):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (07:27):
Yeah, but that's okay, Well, that's okay. I mean, if
you find something else to do, you find something. I
don't like it, but it's all right for you. I
sell it to you. I love the fact this buffalo
has decided to take a stand and say, yeah, I'm done,
done running. I'm doing that. I don't want to do
that anymore. All right, So here's the deal. I'm finished.

Speaker 4 (07:41):
So Ralphie the sixth she going back to wherever she'll
go in retirement. Ran twenty five games. Ten you're from
September third of twenty one to the end of December
of twenty twenty four. Okay, crier Ralphi, He's going all
the way back to Ralphie the first, whose nickname was well,
ralph did eleven years, seventy eight games. Okay, Ralphie two

(08:06):
nickname Moonshine, fifty three games.

Speaker 1 (08:10):
But then got into the Moonshine and had to retire. Yes,
I remember that story. It was very very difficult. Yes,
well actually died. Oh wow, see I'm making a fun
moonshine joke and you have to say, oh, that buffalo died.
Thanks moonshine. Thanks, Ralphie the third, Tequila the seventy three
didn't die because of tequila. No, oh, okay, all.

Speaker 4 (08:30):
Right, So it's main final run ninety seven, Final run
early ninety eight.

Speaker 1 (08:36):
The final run, Ralphie the fourth, rowdy ralro wde that's
the way we spelled rowdy rowdy. Let's get rut like
rowdy gaines or rowdy roddy Piper. Okay, seventy five games. Okay.

Speaker 4 (08:54):
Ralphie the fifth, also known as Blackout, retired in twenty nineteen.

Speaker 1 (08:59):
Seventy six games. Raeffie the fifth still with us. Okay, good,
Ralphie the sixth, twenty five games. That's what I like.
Ralfi twenty five. No, I'm not gonna do seventy five games.
I'm finished. I'm done, dog, I'm done running up and
down the field for stupid reasons. I'm not doing it. No,
I'm not gonna think of all the time that goes
right with the handlers. There's a lot of practices, a

(09:20):
lot of simulation, sure, all right, trying to make sure
you can control old ralph Yeah, oh yeah, and you
get after that. It's a lot of handle I mean,
I assume if you're the handlers. You go out there, okay, Ralphie,
let's run, and Ralphie just stands there like, come on,
let's run, kind of like when you go out to
walk your dog and the dog doesn't want to go
with dougs, wants to hang out. Come on, let's go, Benny, Betty,
let's go. If it's Betty, Betty, let's go. Oh, Betty's

(09:42):
going back in the house. And maybe Ralphie's the same way.
Come on, Ralphie, let's run. Ralphie's goes You're like, oh,
I guess I okay, Well we'll stay here and you
just go smell the flowers. Ralphie. That's great. Like my
dog's part Shuahua one hundred degrees, happy as hell, smiling. Yeah,
not so much. No, no, no, invert that make it fifties?
Got a rainy yeah me, come on dogo. Nope. Indifference

(10:07):
to running, like that's the that's the best explanation. Like
that's a phrase, and I want to use all you
of an indifference to running, although it's more for me.
I have an out and out hatred for running, like
I just absolutely can't stand it, Like I think there's
no point to it I run playing sport. When I
played sports, I run playing sports, and I get that
was great, but the just the running, no, in fact,
the teams. This is one reason when one reason why

(10:29):
people love me is a youth coach is because whenever
we ran, like when every time to run, like other
coaches made people run and uh, you know for softball,
like for softball specially, and and they were there, you know,
we didn't run. We didn't run a lot. I said,
we'll run a little bit to just get warmed up.
We'll do a lap here, we'll do a sprint that,
you know, just to get you going. But uh, they said, coach,
why don't why don't why don't we run? I go,

(10:49):
do you want to run? And they go, no, I
go because I hated running and I wasn't happy a
practice when I had to run. So I think we'll
have a happier practice if you don't have to run.
And they were like, oh, okay, I go. I will
use running as a punitive issue. So if we don't,
if you don't see that, if you're reinforcing the already
reinforcing that running is terrible. So they already know running
is bad. So I'm telling them again, you don't want

(11:11):
to run, so let's do so. But they all love
the fact you run on the proper running can be
great for it.

Speaker 4 (11:17):
I mean, it's destructive to your knees and joys absolutely
great for you.

Speaker 1 (11:21):
It could be.

Speaker 4 (11:22):
Hey, if you love you want to chase down the
ice cream man, if you are going to do it
your way, I can always you can always run to McDonald's.

Speaker 1 (11:30):
I could. When I say I'm gonna run to McDonald's,
that means I get in the car, run on your
treadmill with a donut in the front of it. Uh, no, one.
I work out.

Speaker 3 (11:39):
I walk.

Speaker 1 (11:39):
I do a lot of cardio, but I walk. I
don't run because there's no reason to run. I can
walk and still get the because you work out. Look,
I ran, I've run, I've run enough, and I've run
enough in my life. I got really, but it's there's
no reason to run. And the girl the girls love
the fact. And the other team was like, you guys,

(12:00):
never run. Our coach says that we run. Yeah, okay,
we'll see what happens in the game. We'll see what
happens in the game. I only need to be able
to run ninety feet a mile. Yeah, okay, when it's.

Speaker 4 (12:08):
Fourth and a mile, we'll see if you can run
and you run around the bases. Yeah, okay, fine, we're right.
The Earl Campbell line, it's like he doesn't run, he runs,
doesn't run miles. Oh, when it's fourth and a mile,
we'll see what happens. Yeah, boy, I'll tell you. Are
you gonna beat us because you ran? Are you guys
gonna beat always my team out of shape?

Speaker 1 (12:27):
No, we're not. We're fine. Don't worry mentally tough for him,
don't worry about it. Don't worry about See, that's how
you get through the barriers. That's the reason why. Like
I was, like, you've heard the phrase like, oh, he's
your favorite coach's favorite coach. You've heard that phrase like
that. That wasn't me. No, that was not me. That was
I was. Hey, your kids and your parents' favorite coach.
That was me, right, kids and the parents great. But

(12:47):
I was never your league runner's favorite coach or your coaches. No,
that wasn't me.

Speaker 4 (12:52):
So always at the philosophy with the kids when they
were you know, in grade school and you had the
two say, third grade classes, and be like everybody's joking
to get on the good side of the principal, to
reassign to the nice teacher. I'm like, eventually you're gonna
find someone who's an ass. Oh, you're gonna have to
deal with that.

Speaker 1 (13:07):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (13:08):
So if it's third grade, if it's fourth grade, to
where you know, proper punctuation actually matters. Having some manners
in the way you speak to people actually matters matters.

Speaker 1 (13:18):
I'd rather you learn that earlier than later on.

Speaker 4 (13:21):
Yeah, right, a little bit of work ethic and all that,
as opposed to maybe we've had some examples through our
many years working here in an other place.

Speaker 1 (13:29):
You're like, you've clearly never.

Speaker 4 (13:30):
Been told no before in your life. You've never had
a boss sit you down and say, hey, you know what,
this isn't perfect, Johnny.

Speaker 1 (13:38):
You know, And I guess that the whole thing with
running why I love Ralphie the Six, Ralphie the six,
you keep doing you when I never really had a
thought about it one way or another. But freshman and
sophomore year of high school when I played football, we
had a smaller roster, so we did so much cardio
and I can't tell you how much running that we

(13:59):
did in practice, we would still have kept the kid ready.
We would start practice and we would at least run
two miles.

Speaker 3 (14:07):
We talked about we'd.

Speaker 1 (14:08):
Do two miles a day, sometimes three, right, and then
we would practice, have a hard practice, and then we
would finish with forty forty uh maybe not forty, with
between twenty and thirty forty yard sprints where everybody stopped,
blow the way and there'd be like six people per line.
Coach bowls whistle, and you had to go as fast
as you could. Now, it was never where you had

(14:30):
to break the speed of sound getting there, because Coach
is understood little bit you were tired, but you had
to bust your ass to go like you were going
as fast as you could. And I'm like, I can't
believe this now. Was I an incredible shape? Yeah, but
I didn't want to be. I didn't want to and
I still I'm sure I still have something the kid.
I'm sure I'm sure I still have some sort of

(14:50):
PTSD from from that from those practices, no six minute apps,
actually from from all the run, not not not the
hitting practice, not the plan, but the running was just
so awful in full equipment, and we did so much
of it, and it was just it was pointless, and
it was two seasons, and I'm like, I hate football.
I can't I don't want to play another down. This

(15:13):
is the world. I'd wake up in the morning and go,
I'm depressed at school day because I know from three
o'clock to six o'clock is gonna just absolutely suck. See.

Speaker 4 (15:22):
I really thought Frostburger was gonna come over with the
one liner, but he didn't, So I'll do it. It
prepared you for a lifetime as a Jets face.

Speaker 1 (15:31):
I hated at that point. The Jets are already terrible.
I'dn't even been used to that. Man, I had the
late seventies. Just man at all, Man, it was I
already had that. By nineteen eighty five, comes Exit out
bout a Fresca exit Swalling Dome. Jason Smith Mike Harmon
live from the Fox Sports Radio studios. Hey again, you

(15:53):
do you Ralphie the sixth wa esther Ember Ember Ember.
I haven't heard running you go get the designing that
shirt tonight and a cartoon Smith, you laid down and
just sit down and smell the flowers. You deserve it.
Uh So coming up next? All right, well, you had
to get to that story because it made sense with
Monsey running and I think she's still alive. A big

(16:16):
injury and big suspension story out of the NFL coming

Speaker 1 (18:00):
That's Cabino and Rich Fox Sports Radio. It is the
Nolan McLain Show with my bes friend Nolan mclan Everybody's right,
who's the Grimace for the Mets this year? Is it Grimace?
Is it going to be. No, it's Nolan McLain. The
Mets have been rowing since he came up with runners
in scoring possession. He's the best player in the history

(18:20):
of baseball. Nolan McLain Man.

Speaker 4 (18:23):
Nolan mclan showing Jason a trading card from twenty twenty
three where he's in the batter's box and it says
a pitcher outfielder.

Speaker 3 (18:33):
Huge question coming off this game for you?

Speaker 1 (18:35):
Huge?

Speaker 3 (18:35):
Go ahead?

Speaker 1 (18:36):
What do you got?

Speaker 3 (18:36):
I mean the people want to know. Okay, it will
be the biggest question, the most talked about thing at
the water cooler in the northeast tomorrow.

Speaker 1 (18:43):
Wow, okay, pressures have a big deal. Hi, what you got.

Speaker 3 (18:46):
Who's a bigger hero in New York City? Okay this
McLain or John mclan.

Speaker 1 (18:51):
Oh, this McLain.

Speaker 3 (18:53):
Easy, you take that back right now.

Speaker 1 (18:54):
Because John McClain was a big hero here. He was
a New York cop, but he was a big hero here.
He went back well okay he did go back to
New Yeah, he did go back to New but there
was a lot of struction.

Speaker 3 (19:05):
John McLain as a whole, all his body work.

Speaker 1 (19:07):
Okay, John McClean started in l A then then then
was Dulles. Then it was New York. Yeah, but I
mean you're talking about a history of if he had
saved New York, saved America multiple times then the then
the last one was d C and it was all different.
Now I would say, I think Nolan McLean's three starts

(19:29):
better than John McLean. You're just after one start. I
would say, Okay, you know John McLean, but after three
starts Nolan McLean. Yeah, but this guy probably wears shoes
when he walks on glass. I don't think. I don't
think he needs to wear shoes. He could do whatever
he wants. He can do it. Jesus, he could do
just like that. I said, justin your stocking feet. He
could do it because you gotta wear the stirrups. It

(19:50):
looks good you don't wear the socks. I I miss
players wearing stirrups. I missed that. I used to like that.
I used to like when I was a kid wearing
littlely you were to wear stirrups. That's cool.

Speaker 4 (20:01):
Like man, I've seen in the last week the analysis
for for Caleb Williams go down to.

Speaker 1 (20:06):
The way he wears his socks. He's not leadership. Yeah,
that's how clown show we've got? What if I told
you about Chicago? Man, how they they're looking for?

Speaker 4 (20:16):
But that's not even in Chicago. That's the national dopes
jumping in like you know what I saw. I didn't
like the way he wore his socks like you suck
just hanging up.

Speaker 1 (20:26):
Just just watch the way Nolan McLain greater than John McLean. Boy,
that's a lot of pressure. Huh yeah, I mean Noel
McLain doing this all by himself. John McLain had Al Powell.

Speaker 4 (20:38):
I mean, the Phillies aren't nearly the super villain that
Alan Rickman.

Speaker 1 (20:42):
And in the second movie he had Dennis Frans helping
him exactly everywhere he worked. Denis friends from Chicago in
in BC still had that accident.

Speaker 4 (20:52):
It doesn't you've been around me. After I spend some
time with my brothers or my family, what happens. I
sound like I'm right back into this one.

Speaker 1 (21:00):
If you're playing a New York police officer or a
Washington DC police officer.

Speaker 4 (21:05):
You gotta lose the actual They decided that that was
what made the charm of a sipoates. I mean, the
Dennis Franz character, even when he was in that movie
where he was an angel showing his ass.

Speaker 1 (21:16):
He still talk like he was from this south side.
Mark Wahlberg's been in Hollywood for thirty years and still
everything is a boss in accident. Come on, man, keep
paying him, Come on, just keep clearing. So two big
stares change out of the NFL. Number one involving the
suspension to Rashi Rice a little bit different from what

(21:36):
we thought a week ago. It was looks like Rahi
Rice is going to get at least four games, probably
not suspend until after the fourth game because he's got
a hearing schedule for September thirty. So likely Rachi Rice,
because of the misadventures he had last off season driving,
was gonna get a suspension, not start till October, maybe

(21:56):
be four games. But instead, bit of a surprise, he
gets six games to start the beginning of the season
and he's not going to appeal it. But that's it.
So what was on the table? Eight?

Speaker 3 (22:10):
Ten?

Speaker 1 (22:10):
How about six? And I owt appeal? Sold, we're done,
we're moving on. We do it, start of the season
finished and we move on. We're over. So again, a
little bit more than I thought he would get. But
so we get six games. Now, the thing is this
doesn't matter because it's still a Patrick Mahomes middle finger
revenge tour. This is still the best, most healthiest weapons

(22:34):
he has had in three years. Right, Mahomes has been
a game manager of the last couple of years. Right,
he has, but he hasn't had the weapons. Travis Kelse
has been on the decline. But what have they done
this year? Okay? You have Xavier Worthy in year two,
a healthy Hollywood Brown, all right, brought these guys in
to be your top two receivers. Right, and you have
the depth to go through, whether it's Juju Smith Schuster,
whether it's Taekwon Thornton. You still Kelsey, who supposedly is

(22:57):
going to be full of vim and vigor this year.
It could be his last year. I can't go out
like that like he did a year ago. This is
the best weapon room that Mahomes has had in three years.
This is where Mahomes reminds everybody of the quarterback he
used to be and this is before he became a
game manager three years ago. He goes this is the

(23:20):
year where this is forty touchdowns for Mahomes and high
four thousand yards passing because he's thirty years old. This
is not Mahomes thirty seven, thirty eight. He's losing a step.
He does not as evasive in the pocket anymore. He
is still in the middle. He's starting the back half
of his prime, but he's still in his prime. This
is the best his weapons have been because for three
years the Chiefs decided after Tyreek Kill left, well, it

(23:41):
doesn't matter. Mahomes makes everybody better. We can just bring
in anybody we want to. In the last three years,
it's been wholesale changes at wide reserve. Well, those five
guys didn't work out. Those five guys didn't work out,
but it worked out for the team. They won a
Super Bowl. Okay, that's awesome. But for Mahomes, Mahomes' numbers
and his production was way down. They were lied in
the defense a lot. This year, I'm stock up on Mahomes,

(24:04):
stock down on the Chiefs because the division is too difficult.
You have two other teams that are just as good
as they are, if not younger and more athletic. So
the wins and what the Chiefs have been used to
be able to do in the AFC West is not
gonna happen. They're gonna struggle to be a wildcard team,
but they I am way stuck up on Mahomes because
now he's back to having the weapons that he had,

(24:25):
his offensive line is stabilized. This is gonna be him
reminding us, Yeah, you thought I was done. This is
the Patrick Mahomes middle finger revenge toward that he's gonna
have all season long. Yeah.

Speaker 4 (24:35):
I don't know that we're getting necessarily back to forty touchdowns,
but I do like the over of twenty seven and
a half where it currently sits in your prop. That's
week one line, Chargers getting three and a half in
Brazil at Caspert.

Speaker 1 (24:49):
He'll be there, he'll be there, he'll be there for
watch doing that game.

Speaker 4 (24:52):
He'll be ready for it, no question about it. But yeah,
three and a half is the line for that one.
I do like the depth that they've assembled, and clearly
they were able to still go on a run, and
it was a different formula to get there last year.
And that's what we've seen the last couple of years
as you started to shift away from the pinball machine
stuff of throwing it up to Tyreek Hill and trying

(25:15):
to bust deep coverage to running the football short intermediate passes,
the occasional shot downfield, but also playing top level defense.
That doesn't change. Right, They're still one of the best
defensive units on the board as we go. I think
there's something to be said a little bit for Patrick
Mahomes having to hear all the noise about how old

(25:36):
Travis Kelcey suddenly got. And yeah, there were plays in
the Super Bowl that left you scratching your head about
and questioning effort, which is something it's always I'm loath
to do it. But then there are certain plays where
it's like, normally he would engage here. Normally that would
be that's not the guy that I'm used to kind
of situation, So rededicating he's not on tour eating the

(25:57):
brats and drinking the German beer and everything, as he
did travel the globe as part of the Eras Tour
a year ago, the great, great time I had in Dublin.

Speaker 1 (26:06):
He was not there.

Speaker 4 (26:07):
But all of that to say, the division got better, right.
The Chargers and Broncos are coming. Bronco's a team that
we've talked about a bunch, will do so more as
we do our season preview in earnest, No question about it.
But one of the best defensive units in the game
to rival that Kansas City, you expect the Chargers to
do the same. And then the Raiders are just good

(26:27):
enough to make some noise. But the long shot, so
the wind total sitting at either ten and a half
or eleven the last I look, it's gonna be a
tough tough thing to attain, but in a crowded AFC.
But for Patrick Mahomes and company, being told you're done
is a nice little motivator.

Speaker 1 (26:47):
Look how far the gap is. Look at Brady. Tell
you what Brady did in his second act. The Patrick
Mahomes is done. He's never gonna win again. Eight seven,
seven nine you I mean you heard it. Mahomes revenge Tour.

Speaker 4 (26:58):
Get ready and Andy Reid. I mean he's mad because
someone shot at his window. Yeah, he's pissed. He's got
to have more nuggies. I gotta have question.

Speaker 1 (27:06):
So from suspension to an injury, there was a couple
of days ago we found out that Pro Bowl running
back Joe Mixon was going to miss the first four
games of this season with an ankle injury. Okay, that's fine.
Houston's pretty deep at running back. They brought in Nick Chubb,
and they got a couple of guys that drafted Woody
Marks in the fourth round. Okay, we're okay. But today
GM Nick Cassario was asked if he would suit up

(27:28):
at all this season, and Cassario said, we'll see. We'll
take it one day at a time. We'll evaluate those
guys after four weeks and see where they are. There
is no guarantee, and the Texans GM Nick Cassario is
noncommittal on him playing at all this season. I'm gonna

(27:49):
say this doesn't matter. It doesn't matter, It doesn't matter.
The Texans should end up with home field advantage in
the AFC. You know only one team. They are they
are well, let me let me let me go from
the beginning here. Okay, so running back, you know, fine, Yes,
Joe Mixon is a really good player. This is still
a CJ. Stroud driven team. They brought in weapons their movie,

(28:13):
obviously not having tanked Dell for another year. But Nico
Collins were the best receivers in the NFL. They brought
in some other guys. The offense is gonna bounce back.
I'm not too concerned about that. But they are now
defensively driven. They have one of the best defensive lines,
top three defensive line in the NFL, top three secondaries
in the NFL. That is a dominant unit. That's how

(28:34):
they're gonna win games. The Texans are gonna bounce back
from where they were. We thought they're gonna be that
big super Bowl team last year, the trendy super Bowl
picked last year, and it just quite didn't happen. They
weren't quite that team. This year. You get the bounce
back from CJ. Stroud, You get the defense being one
of the best top three defenses overall in the NFL,
and they can make a lot of hay in that division.

(28:55):
Right the AFC West, they're gonna cannibalize each other. AFC North,
they're gonna cannibalize each other. The Bills in the AFC East. Okay,
the division's gonna be a little bit better than expected.
But for the Bills, a year after year after year,
it's about January for them. Are they gonna win enough
games to vault themselves past the Texans, who should be
able to run rough shot over this division and maybe

(29:19):
go undefeated and have the best record. Doesn't mean the
Texans are the best team. But the path to the
best record that's easy, right. I want to be in
the AFC South, right, I like the Colts to be
a potential wildcard ish kind of team. But man, the
Titans are terrible. Right. The Jaguars are still starting over,
and this is the eleventh year of Trevor Lawrence and

(29:39):
they're still starting over. So yeah, they're gonna make a
lot of hay in this division. The path to the
best record is through the path of least resistance, and
that's in the AFC South. At the end of the
regular season, I expect to say, Wow, it's crazy, But
the super Bowl goes through Houston. They walk in with
home field advantage. How about that?

Speaker 4 (29:57):
Because I have a missile playoffs, I like, you hater,
Maybe I'll.

Speaker 1 (30:05):
Wear that if that's what it needs to be. You
hate CJ. Stroud.

Speaker 4 (30:09):
You know what, I don't think that in all of
the analysis after the passing of Terrence Stamp, his Planet
Houston line got nearly enough run.

Speaker 1 (30:20):
So yeah, I would say this. You were a much
bigger fan of his the Planet Houston line than anybody else.
I mean, I like the way he said.

Speaker 4 (30:29):
It, Yeah, I mean I like the the character and
you know the little idiosyncrasies.

Speaker 1 (30:34):
I always default to Lex Luthor, Ruler of Australia, Like
that's the less.

Speaker 4 (30:41):
All right, Texans minus one oh five, So about a
fifty chance based on imply dotts to win the division
Jaguars and Colts plus three hundred plus three seventy five
Titans out there at plus six fifty to plus eight hundred,
depending on where you're shopping. I look at that offensive
line that it's a problem.

Speaker 1 (30:59):
I do like that. You have Marx and and Nick Chubb.
Hopefully you get some Remember he once upon a time,
he was gonna be once upon a time.

Speaker 4 (31:08):
That's the problem is we're playing one spot a time
like that old ABC show where they started throwing in
all sorts of stuff from the Disney catalogs. Yeah, that's
kind of what we're doing here with that running back situation,
except you got the new kid, the fresh faced kid,
like snow White. Here's what he marks, Okay, all right.
I like that someone's gotta be Rumpel.

Speaker 1 (31:26):
Still in the end, this defense is so good and
and that's that's a really.

Speaker 4 (31:31):
In Vegas is nine and a half wins, uh And
I think the division cannibalizes itself to that point to
where they don't get to run out, and.

Speaker 1 (31:40):
He's they're gonna be facing this year Daniel Jones, Art Schleister. Okay,
Trevor Lawrence, why you gotta bring gambling? Wow, you're gonna
drag Steve Berlin while you're at it to Kerry Collins.
You want you want to grab? Uh? I mean look
at the quarter cam Ward Ever Lawrence and Daniel Jones.

(32:01):
These are the guy that defenses. They got they got
a forking knife in their hand, going serve them up, man,
So I'm ready, I'm starving. Serve those guys up.

Speaker 6 (32:12):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (32:12):
I think they battle towards a wild card spot and
they lose out to those colts. About that, and they
play the the NFC West. That's a tough division, man,
that's tough exit out about a Fresco exit swollen dumb
Mike Harmon, hater of c J. Stroud, Oh hater, Okay,

(32:35):
I thought you were teasing mont No, no, no, what
are we doing? No time got to find out what's
trending in the wide world of sports. So someone who's
been called the Liam Cohen of Fox Sports Radio, she'll
sneak up behind you and go duvall.

Speaker 5 (32:50):
It's ah, that's a fun video, but that's not me,
that's Douvo.

Speaker 1 (33:00):
Yeah it sounded just like it. Yeah yeah, yeah, yeah.
This is the end of a long day for This
is the end of a long day for you. She
had no energy. She really couldn't sell the li hud. Yeah.
There you go. There. You could be Liam Cohen, Liam Cohen,

(33:22):
hard pass, hard pass. Uh, You're you're the Michael Confordo
of Fox Sports Radio. I'll be Liam, except except you're
better in the field.

Speaker 5 (33:31):
Ram Leah, Liam than uh than Michael Confordo. I know
he hit a home run today, but yeah, he doesn't
do it when it matters.

Speaker 1 (33:39):
The Dodgers swept the Reds five to one.

Speaker 5 (33:42):
It was the first time that Cincinnati was swept this season,
showing Tani was on the mound also for l A.
He pitched five innings, gave up two hits, one earned run,
and had nine strikeouts. The Mets completed a three games
sweep of the Phillies, shutting them out six zero, so
they are four games back of the Phillies for the Vision.
They still have a lead on Cincinnati for the final

(34:02):
wild card spot in the National League. And that extended
to four and a half games, but five in the
lost column. There you go.

Speaker 1 (34:10):
I was waiting for you, Sam.

Speaker 5 (34:11):
Setting you up.

Speaker 1 (34:12):
The lost column is always everything, the lost column. I
always look at the lost column first. Yes, that's what
it's true.

Speaker 5 (34:19):
The Cubs top the Giants topped the Cubs twelve to three.
Roughile Devers hit two home runs, he had a five rbi.
Diamondbacks edged the Brewers three to two. The Rangers crushed
the Angels twenty to three. Was the final score was
the most run scored by Texas since twenty eleven. While
the A's shut out the Tigers seven zero and completed
a three games sweep, Blue Jays outscored the Twins nine

(34:39):
to eight, Mariners edge the Padres four to three, Astro
shut out the Rockies four zero. Early in the day,
it was when the Yankees hit six home runs home runs,
including Aaron judges forty first home run of the season.
They beat the Nationals eleven to two, and the Braves
took down the Marlins twelve to one. They also hit
five home runs in their victory. Earlier today, when it

(35:00):
came to the NFL, well, the Chiefs are not gonna
be with Rashi Rice for the first six games of
the regular season. The league is suspending him because he
violated the league's personal conduct policy. Raven signed safety Kyle
Hamilton to a four year, one hundred million dollar extension.
Jaguars receiver and cornerback Travis Hunter, who has been dealing
with an upper body injury since mid August, is healthy.
He's gonna play in the season opener against Carolina, and

(35:23):
the Hunters also welcomed a baby boy today.

Speaker 2 (35:26):
They put it on social media.

Speaker 5 (35:27):
When it comes to the w NBA, the Aces of
one twelve in a row, they beat the Dream eighty
one to seventy five behind Asia Wilson, who had a
double double thirty four points and ten rebounds. And when
it comes to the US Open on the men's side,
two seed Carlos Sokraaz and six seed Ben Shelton both
won their second round matches.

Speaker 1 (35:44):
Back to you, thank you very much. The next time
I see you, you're gonna have two bobblehead.

Speaker 3 (35:51):
Maybe maybe I'm gonna see you tomorrow.

Speaker 1 (35:54):
Yeah, probably can see the next day too. Oh so
so three times after this, all right, thank you Montz.
