with my best friend Mike Harmon. Happy opening night of
the NFL.

We made it. We made it through night one.

We had players spitting at each other, we had a
weather delay, and in the end we had the Super
Bowl champion Eagles beat the Dallas Cowboys twenty four to twenty.
Speaker 3 (00:53):
Succeed and proceed.
Speaker 1 (00:55):
Yeah, I mean, look, I'm gonna tell you how the
whole spit Gate's gonna end in a couple of minutes.
But just to understand the Cowboys, they missed a huge
chance tonight. This was like, this was not just to hey,
to get a win on the road against the defending champs, right,
because that would be enough, right to say, hey, we're
not supposed to win. We're on the road against the

Super Bowl champions. This is supposed to be an l
for us. Boy, a win would be great, that would
really be something right. But this was a way to
not only get a win, but to take the entire
narrative of we're worse that with Micah Parsons, we're worse
that we you know, get get you know, realize that
we got to stop the run, all the drama that
we had that we've gone through, the fact that we

didn't really get guys in the offseason. We didn't go
crazy free agency wise, We're still top heavy. It's it's
been it's the same old thing. To be able to
step in and get a win like this was a
huge mischance because they should have won the game because
they showed a look and the one thing we talked
about liking about the Cowboys coming into the seasons, what
did I say they're gonna score points? This offense is

gonna be good because Dak has the weapons and clearly
they're able to run the football. A little bit more
because Jalen Carter's thrown out of the gate for spinning
at Dak Prescott. So it become things become a little
bit easier. But it's not like they ran the football
all of a sudden. They were you know, peak peak
Barry Sanders, where everything was like nine yards of carry. No,
they ran the football. Okay enough, and that's gonna be
the Cowboys identity. We'll run just as much as we

have to, but really our way out is through the air.
But because they're able to run the ball a little
bit better tonight again they ran for one hundred and
twenty yards. This game was there for them, and CD
Lamb had had a you know, stat wise, he had
a really good game, but man, he dropped three big
passes and that last one he's got to get you, really,
all three of them in the fourth court. He's got
the drop two on the last drive and one when

he was cutting in the middle of the field like
when he probably heard footsteps, like your CD Lamb, you
gotta make those plays right, like.

Oh, this is why you're paid as one of the
top wide receivers and you're considered one of the top guys.

And he made it look easy early.

Obviously he got to feast a little bit because he
was going against the number two corner Mitchell Uh worked
on George Pickens quite frequently over the course of the night,
so they they took advantage of that order. At Ray
Jackson getting torched early on, I mean you saw his
name trending because it was a lot of CD LAMB
and big play opportunities early and then when they had

him late, balls just going through his hands. I mean
all all catchable balls. You know, the last one is
a dive, but still one that was more a dive
to MA.

Got to catch that. This is not where it went
off his fingertips. This is I had it. Yeah, the
go get it with this is This is not George
Pickens dropping pass. Would you say, okay, well yeah, that's
what happens when you throw to George Pickens. I mean
you're throwing at your guy and you you need you
You got to come down with those man. This is
a Again, this is just how I look at it
when I say, boy, that is such a missed opportunity

for the Cowboys that could have flipped the narrative and
started their season off incredibly different.

Well, but think about the post game for us, the
glory of Jerry Jones coming into the spake Zaraesthustra or
something and some interest music like a WWE superstar to
announce the greatness that he got over on the you know,
the defending champs in this big moment. But also when
you're talking about what the start of this season would

look like, you get a w HERE Division game.

Yeah, you push the narratives that you don't know what
you're doing, at least quiet them for a second, and
maybe maybe this will be enough for some.

Lamb's now going to be the worst wide receiver in
the world, you know that, and that'll be all over
the place. But you got week two with the Giants
at home, week three on the road with the Bears,
So potentially before the Mica battle at the end of
the month, you might have been looking at a three
and zero, like not look each game independent and you

know we always do that thing. It's like, well, we
should have ad a nine game winning He's like, yeah,
but if you don't lose that one there, do you
necessarily course correct it and make the But in this case,
this was everything right. We had fights right off the jump,
not just the spitting incident, oh yeah, but almost after
every play in the first two possessions. There seemed to
be at least two guys getting after it or it

was like, wow, this is gonna be one of those
games a Cowboys Eagles, you know, but isn't This isn't
Jaguars bill.
Speaker 3 (05:24):
But there was no build.
Speaker 5 (05:25):
It was let's just get after it, right, Normally, there's
still gotta be something to precipitate that level of anxiety,
angst and hatred. No, no, no, we got right after
it like it was mid season fourm So for that,
I'm thankful. We got a great game the Cowboys with
the points spread, get you your money, whatever, But it
(05:47):
gave us all sorts of great moments but missed opportunities,
the Miles Sanders fumble and the CD Lamb drops. That
now sets up the narrative for the next sixteen games
for these Dallas Cowboys.
Speaker 1 (05:58):
Now obvious the spitting incident is going to take front
page headlines. Now we're gonna lay it out for you
how it unfolded tonight, and then I'll tell you how
this is going to end, and you're gonna say, oh,
you're right and yeah. To show that I'll I'll be
okay meeting people in the middle with this here's this
shows me I'm a great negotiator. I'll be okay meeting

people in middle on this. So, before the first play
from scrimmage, Eagles defensive tackle Jalen Carter, when the best
DT's in the NFL second team All Pro last year,
gets ejected because he is spitting at Dak Prescott. Cameras
caught him doing it. He spit at him. It was
unsportsmanlike conduct and an ejection. This is what it sounded
like on the broadcast.

Ty Shirt, what do you do? I don't know. I
like the guy playing.
Speaker 5 (06:48):
The guy playing was pretty good, but hell, you got
going on there? What is that like one of those
quest games where you're going through the shire?
Speaker 1 (06:58):
It was it was the turn of the tight shirt.

All right, here's the call of Jalen Carter spitting at
Dak Prescott.

Now we're coming down the raft.

Newman was in.

Front of me, Hernandez was coming toward us.

As he passes us, Newman turns and says, nice game,
pretty boy.

Nanda's continued past us up the ramp.

Then a second later something happened that changed us in
a very deep and profound way from that day forward
is spit on us.

And I like the laugh track the reporters going along.
I was waiting for the bass to come over the top.

here it is. Here's a play by play of Jalen
Carter spinning on Dak Prescott.

Dam couldn't have started worse unsports fl like conduct on
the Eagles, unsports fil like conducts on the Eagles, in
particular on Jalen Harder and even worse Carter, one of
the Eagles, both packful players, because he checked it from
the game on the very first before the very first play.
Speaker 3 (08:24):
From the sperm.
Speaker 1 (08:25):
All right, so there is Merril Reese with the call.
Speaker 5 (08:29):
Now, how many times do you think Merril Reese referenced
that over the course.
Speaker 1 (08:32):
During this was all the beginning, his last final call
going off the air when he said this was a
disaster to start, but we found it. When so Jalen
Carter gets thrown out of the game. Now after halftime,
midway through the third quarter, we get caught in the
weather delay because there's lightning in the Philadelphia area. So
while this is going on NBC, and basically the lightning

was out of Jerry Jones's fingers causing the lightning delay.
Because Miles Sanders fumbled, the Eagles recovered it was a
big deal. He wanted the Cowboys to have some time
to get their legs back under him, so lightning out
of his.
Speaker 5 (09:04):
Hands, absolutely fighting Mace Windu and getting after it. Okay, yes,
and then Jason Garrett came picked him up and threw
him down the shaft. So the lightnse I'm not even
gonna do this, and.
Speaker 1 (09:16):
NBC on Earth's an angle of Dak Prescott spitting at
Jalen Carter first where he was a few yards away
from him. But you see Dak Prescott lean forward, lift
his head up, spit at Jalen Carter. Don't know where
the spit landed, but right away was smiling, laughing. Jalen
Carter and he start joying with each other, and Jalen
(09:40):
Carter spits it Dak and gets thrown out. Here's Mike
Turrico on NBC with the call when they found the
video and are describing what they're seeing watching.
Speaker 2 (09:48):
It, Hernandez passes and starts walking up the ramp. Then
you say you were struck. The spit then proceeds to
ricochet off the temple, striking Newman between the third and
the fourth rip.
Speaker 1 (10:07):
That's about where a bit of land it could have
been around there, third or fourth rib. Third and fourth
rib is where it landed on Newman. So again here,
so now before we get to the second spinner in
Roger mc Dak.
Speaker 8 (10:18):
Spitz down to towards the ground, but in the direction
of the Eagles with Carter who had walked over there,
and that begins the interaction of the two.
Speaker 3 (10:27):
Prescott's spit was down.
Speaker 1 (10:29):
So that was Tarico describing it at that point. Now
Dak Prescott has weighed in on that. He just met
the media. They talked about what happened, and the reporter
asked out the whole spit incident with mister Carter and
did you spit at him? And here is Dak Prescott's response.
Speaker 4 (10:45):
I'll probably spent a thousand times throughout the game, I
mean especially game day, maybe even in general and something
I'm I guess I'm not proud of. But in that case,
he was trolling. I guess you could say, trying to
mess with Tyler Booker. I was just looking at him.
I was right here by the two lineman, and I
guess I needed to spit and I wasn't gonna spind
on my linman, and I.
Speaker 6 (11:03):
Just spit ahead.
Speaker 4 (11:03):
But I would say he was back there where Joelry
was in that sense, and he asked, or he goes,
you're trying to spin on me? And at that point,
I mean, I felt like like like he was insulting me,
like I don't I wouldn't spin on somebody. I'm damn
sure not trying to spin on you, like we're about
to play a game. I'm wondering why you're trying to
mess with the Rookiets. So when I stepped through, I
actually say the words like what the hell would I
excuse me? But I'm probably even more colorful, what would
(11:25):
I need to spin on you for? And he just
spin on me in that moment and was more of
a surprise than anything. Refs obviously saw it through the flag.
I was like, hell, yeah, we get fifteen yards to
start the game off, didn't realize he was getting ejected.
Unfortunate that he did. Hell of a player changed our
plan and our blocking scheme, as I've told Joel right
before the week that we're going to protect against him.
(11:45):
So helped in that manner. But I don't wish for
anybody to get out of the game. I'm sure he
probably regretsed that to some extent. I'm pretty sure he
knows I didn't try to spin on him, or wasn't
even aiming to spin on him. So something's probably gonnaed
a lot of coverage and a lot of attention that
I'm so sorry for in the sense of h Yeah,
I mean, I know how excited each and every one
(12:07):
of us are right to kick off the season and
the season opener, and hell of a player like that
doesn't even get a chance in the first play. Yeah,
onfortunate circumstances.
Speaker 1 (12:17):
Yeah, not buying that. You didn't instigate not buying it.
That's not how you saw his entire body language and
what he did react. He acted very quickly. He leaned
into spit at him. He instigated it. Okay, but here's
where I talk about negotiating, where where I can meet
you in the middle on this. Okay, Okay, Eagles win
the game twenty four to twenty So, okay, Eagles. They're mad, right,
(12:38):
because here's Dak instigating the situation. Whether he where the
spit landed, Dak still instigated this by spinning at him.
They didn't catch it, but they so they caught Jalen Carter.
The NFL is gonna look at this, right because now
Jalen Carter potentially could get suspended for week two, right
that he could get to that's the suspension is on
the table for the NFL is going to look at
(12:59):
this and see that, yeah, Dak might have instigated this
a little bit, so you know what time served and
because they're gonna be could there would be an absolute
uproar if suddenly, oh, Jalen Carter gets suspended when clearly
Dak spits at him, and I'm not buying his reasoning,
like he's probably just trying to instigate, get.
Speaker 3 (13:17):
Under his get under his h collar a little bit.
Speaker 1 (13:20):
So I think what's gonna happen in this everybody's gonna
be happy about it is that they're gonna say, Okay,
we saw that Dak maybe instigated this, so Jalen Carter
got thrown out of the game time served, he'll be
able to play week two, and the Eagles will say
that's fine. The Cowboys will say, that's fine because Dak's
not getting suspended. We lost the game. We're not losing
our quarterback for week two. The Eagles saying, well, we
(13:41):
lost our guy for week one, but we won the game,
so we're not gonna get too mad about it. And
we know that clearly our player should have gotten thrown
out of the game because you can't do that. You
can't spit out a player, right, So with there more
evidence there, the Eagles will say, Okay, we'll accept it.
We'll accept and that's how it's gonna end. It will
end with them saying Jalen Carter could play week two,
and they're not gonna say that Dak instigated it, because
(14:03):
then then they then there would be an uproar of well,
if you think he instigated spit out a guy, that's
still a penalty, that's still could be a suspension because
we lost our guy for the whole game. You know,
you guys should lose your guys for the whole game.
But the fact that they won the NFL will just
say the jurisprudence was merited. He goes ejected from the game,
and and that's it, right, that's basically a whole game suspension.
(14:24):
You're talking about spending him for two games if it's
an injection another one. So that's how it's gonna end.
And I think everybody's gonna be happy about it.
Speaker 3 (14:31):
Yeah, and yeah, with the.
Speaker 5 (14:31):
Dak Prescott thing, it's a subject to interpretation. At near instigating,
you know, Carter clearly responds terribly. I don't I don't
take back any of the the details and what we
talked about when we started the show, right, I mean
that all still holds true. It's it's just bad, bad
(14:53):
business and dumb. And Jay Glazer even said he's like,
that's the guy they told me a camp that I
can't mess with, right, So, I mean, that's kind of
the reputation, So don't do it. But I think Dak
also has that in his playbook that he knows that
and whatever's going on with the lineman, Carter's kind of drifting.
It's almost like jumping into a huddle, like we've seen
(15:15):
guys do that on NBA benches, where all of a
sudden they're standing outside of a huddle.
Speaker 3 (15:20):
That's kind of what Carter's starting to do.
Speaker 5 (15:21):
He's drifting over that way, so he spits, but he's
staring at him and I don't that's a quick exchange.
But you know, whatever the magic words are that get
Dak to have that bright eyed response, that's it, right.
It triggers from there, and so the NFL has to decide,
all right, do we want to go Zabruta film and

get every piece of tape, including the people that were
filming from the fifty yard line with the telescopic lenses,
and commission all of that, or do we just say
time served?
Speaker 3 (15:56):
They won.
Speaker 5 (15:57):
Here's giant, giant, So the good folks that handle and
administer the NFL charities win. I think that's really where
it comes down to it. Every and everybody's going to
get a tersely worded notice because evident.

Okay, thanks well, but just in general, I guess the
point of emphasis. And Ross Tucker talked about this on
the radio h broadcast with Kevin Harlan, and you had
others uh chiming in, going, look, when we met with officials,
they just kept talking that unsportsmanlike conduct penalties were probably
going to be up in the first few weeks because
it was going to be a point of emphasis, right
(16:34):
the old think of the children, Think of the children,
and the example you're setting. And then right away you
got a guy spitting on somebody. Just don't spin on anyone.
That's all I have. That's that's a good memo. I mean,
you don't want to have it really wordy lost from
the desk of Roger Goodell. Don't spin at anyone, Sincerely,

because I lived my grandparents growing up, my grandmother left

get up and I'm you know, and I'm still scared.
It's dark out and I'm thinking about Kingdom of the Spiders.
And I leave my room dressed to come down, and
my grandmother wants to tell me something and she goes
and I don't know she's in the other bedroom. She
goes Jason, and I go, what I jumped in the
air and I.

Was like, a, witches, what's the matter? I go, you
just did a I watched Kingdom with the Spiders last night.

Uh so, never can't tell spitch thut in the corner
man between Dak Prescott and Jalen Carter is in full swing.
Jalen Carter, who was ejected from the game Eagles defensive
tackle tonight for spitting at Dak Prescott. There is later

video that showed that Dak Prescott spit at Jalen Carter,
maybe didn't land it on it, but spit at him
and kind of agitated the situation. We brought you Dak
Prescott's take a few minutes ago. What me, No, I
didn't do anything. I'm very innocent to this. I just
asked what was going on, Yeah, whatever, not buying it,
and I said I'll meet in the middle if the

if the ending of this is the NFL saying well,
Dak sort of instigated this. Jalen Carter served his time,
getting suspended for the first game, for all of that game.
He's going to be able to play in Week two.
I think I think everybody is happy with that. But
now let's hear from Jalen Carter himself met the media
a couple of moments ago in the Eagles locker room
and talked about what he did and how he says, yeah,

it's not going to happen again.

I heard the rough talking and then I heard him say,
this is a tossupa offense or something like that.

And that's what I know.

He leans towards him and he picks up his head
and he spits out at him, and he smiles and
nods and then starts jawing with him. Now, do I
think that Dak Prescott was looking for something to get
the guy ejected?

No, I think it was. And we're all juiced up.

Beginning of the game, guys are saying stuff, barking back
and forth, and Dak Prescott said that Jalen Carter was
saying something towards his line, which I'm like, okay, this
is kind of how it goes, and Dak decided to
get in there and kind of spit at him. Now,
do I think that he meant to spit at his face? No,
but he spit at him and that started the situation.
That that instigated the situation. You can't sit here and
tell me that Dak is an innocent bystander on this.

And just oh, I was just minding my own business,
eating ice cream and helping a woman across the street
who needed help, and all of a sudden, I'm getting
spit out by another player in Green. I don't understand this. Yeah, no,
I'm not buying that.

I don't even even try to figure out who you're invoking.

Some impression of there, like you're watching walking through Mayberrier
or something. Yeah, there you go look it up, kids.
But it's yeah, certainly not one hundred percent innocent. It's
the attempt to agitate him. And certainly, look, we know
Carter's reputation, right Jay Glazer confirmed it when he visited
with us last last hour, Like not a guy you

trifle with, you know, play your practical jokes and and
a bit of grab ass elsewhere anybody else you want
to look up Jalen Carter's history, it's there right before
his NFL days. It's certainly out there for you to
peruse and go through the devil and the details and
all of that stuff. But in this particular instance, Yeah,

Dak wanted to get a rise out of him spinning
at near in his general direction while having his linement
around him. Right, this is the school yard scenario that
we've all had play out in front of our eyes.
You got the yappie guy who's part of a crew.
In this case it's Dak, but he's got a bunch
of biki myths around him that there's no chance in

hell you're getting through now over the course of a game,
if Jalen Carter hadn't gotten himself suspended, yeah, Dak would
have met the bad end of it the other way.
So that's where Jalen Carter's really, I mean really a
terrible decision.

It's a dumb decision retaliate in that way because you
know you were about to give them sixty minutes of
hell and you'll let them off the hook because its
an automatic ejection and disqualification, particularly with the emphasis on
the unsportsmanlike conduct. Now, there's no obvious trigger, at least
by rules that I've looked up here in our super

saluthing that necessitates a suspension of jailing. Carter in his
comments there, tried to lay it out hoping he gets
a little bit of sympathy, and I'm certain in the
Philadelphia area they're taking up a collection for whatever is
fine is, but also recognizing that you put your team
at risk, right, you got to use your head, and

if Dak's going to try to bait you, don't. You
can't buy in, right, That's really it. It's simple, one
on one, the tactic of all right, I'm gonna do
what I can to get under your skin. Right, you
can't go up you playing basketball or you're in the
classroom or whatever and someone's like flicking stuff at you
can't just backhand him. You just can't, and in this case,

spitting directly on him in clear view. I mean, the
official had what looked like giant blue blockers on. Yeah, okay,
it was almost like a face shield, like you knew
it was coming.

Give me the Lions and the Rams, all right, this
is a super Bowl or bust year for the Lions.
They will get past losing both their coordinators. This is
the last shot they have before Jared Goff has to
get paid, Aman Ross saying Brown has to get paid,
Jamison Williams has to get paid. The team is going
to look a lot different after this year. They are

way too talented to not make it to the NFC
title game, and they have the best offense in the NFL.
Williams specifically will have a big year, big breakout year.
Stopping this offense will be impossible. If you voted for
running backs for MVP, Jamir Gibbs would get a lot
of run because the year he had last year even
more of a time show for him this year. Give

me the Lions and give me the Rams, who no
matter who plays quarterback for them, even if Matthew Stafford
is hurt, this offense is made to run and roll.
Even with Jimmy Garoppolo, they are loaded. DeVante Adams will
be a big deal. They'll be the best team in
the NFC West. Give me the Rams and the Lions
the Stafford Bowl and the trade comes full sir, get that.

You celebrating Jimmy g along the way Curiosity for Detroit
how that offense looks right? Obviously, defense, they lost a
lot of guys last year. They all come back nice
and healthy, as does David Montgomery back for another run.

Yeah, I mean, look, I'm gonna tell you how the
whole spit Gate's gonna end in a couple of minutes.
But just to understand the Cowboys, they missed a huge
chance tonight. This was like, this was not just to hey,
to get a win on the road against the defending champs, right,
because that would be enough, right to say, hey, we're
not supposed to win. We're on the road against the

Super Bowl champions. This is supposed to be an l
for us. Boy, a win would be great, that would
really be something right. But this was a way to
not only get a win, but to take the entire
narrative of we're worse that with Micah Parsons, we're worse
that we you know, get get you know, realize that
we got to stop the run, all the drama that
we had that we've gone through, the fact that we

didn't really get guys in the offseason. We didn't go
crazy free agency wise, We're still top heavy. It's it's
been it's the same old thing. To be able to
step in and get a win like this was a
huge mischance because they should have won the game because
they showed a look and the one thing we talked
about liking about the Cowboys coming into the seasons, what
did I say they're gonna score points? This offense is

gonna be good because Dak has the weapons and clearly
they're able to run the football. A little bit more
because Jalen Carter's thrown out of the gate for spinning
at Dak Prescott. So it become things become a little
bit easier. But it's not like they ran the football
all of a sudden. They were you know, peak peak
Barry Sanders, where everything was like nine yards of carry. No,
they ran the football. Okay enough, and that's gonna be
the Cowboys identity. We'll run just as much as we

have to, but really our way out is through the air.
But because they're able to run the ball a little
bit better tonight again they ran for one hundred and
twenty yards. This game was there for them, and CD
Lamb had had a you know, stat wise, he had
a really good game, but man, he dropped three big
passes and that last one he's got to get you, really,
all three of them in the fourth court. He's got
the drop two on the last drive and one when

he was cutting in the middle of the field like
when he probably heard footsteps, like your CD Lamb, you
gotta make those plays right, like.

Oh, this is why you're paid as one of the
top wide receivers and you're considered one of the top guys.

And he made it look easy early.

Obviously he got to feast a little bit because he
was going against the number two corner Mitchell Uh worked
on George Pickens quite frequently over the course of the night,
so they they took advantage of that order. At Ray
Jackson getting torched early on, I mean you saw his
name trending because it was a lot of CD LAMB
and big play opportunities early and then when they had

him late, balls just going through his hands. I mean
all all catchable balls. You know, the last one is
a dive, but still one that was more a dive
to MA.

Got to catch that. This is not where it went
off his fingertips. This is I had it. Yeah, the
go get it with this is This is not George
Pickens dropping pass. Would you say, okay, well yeah, that's
what happens when you throw to George Pickens. I mean
you're throwing at your guy and you you need you
You got to come down with those man. This is
a Again, this is just how I look at it
when I say, boy, that is such a missed opportunity

for the Cowboys that could have flipped the narrative and
started their season off incredibly different.

the defending champs in this big moment. But also when
you're talking about what the start of this season would

Yeah, you push the narratives that you don't know what
you're doing, at least quiet them for a second, and
maybe maybe this will be enough for some.

the world, you know that, and that'll be all over
the place. But you got week two with the Giants

know we always do that thing. It's like, well, we
should have ad a nine game winning He's like, yeah,
but if you don't lose that one there, do you
necessarily course correct it and make the But in this case,
this was everything right. We had fights right off the jump,
not just the spitting incident, oh yeah, but almost after
every play in the first two possessions. There seemed to
be at least two guys getting after it or it

was like, wow, this is gonna be one of those
games a Cowboys Eagles, you know, but isn't This isn't
Jaguars bill.

But there was no build.

It was let's just get after it, right, Normally, there's
still gotta be something to precipitate that level of anxiety,
angst and hatred. No, no, no, we got right after
it like it was mid season fourm So for that,
I'm thankful. We got a great game the Cowboys with
the points spread, get you your money, whatever, But it
(05:47):
gave us all sorts of great moments but missed opportunities,
the Miles Sanders fumble and the CD Lamb drops. That
now sets up the narrative for the next sixteen games
for these Dallas Cowboys.

Now obvious the spitting incident is going to take front
page headlines. Now we're gonna lay it out for you
how it unfolded tonight, and then I'll tell you how
this is going to end, and you're gonna say, oh,
you're right and yeah. To show that I'll I'll be
okay meeting people in the middle with this here's this
shows me I'm a great negotiator. I'll be okay meeting

people in middle on this. So, before the first play
from scrimmage, Eagles defensive tackle Jalen Carter, when the best
DT's in the NFL second team All Pro last year,
gets ejected because he is spitting at Dak Prescott. Cameras
caught him doing it. He spit at him. It was
unsportsmanlike conduct and an ejection. This is what it sounded
like on the broadcast.

the Eagles, both packful players, because he checked it from
the game on the very first before the very first play.

Now, how many times do you think Merril Reese referenced

Carter gets thrown out of the game. Now after halftime,
midway through the third quarter, we get caught in the
weather delay because there's lightning in the Philadelphia area. So
while this is going on NBC, and basically the lightning

was out of Jerry Jones's fingers causing the lightning delay.
Because Miles Sanders fumbled, the Eagles recovered it was a
big deal. He wanted the Cowboys to have some time
to get their legs back under him, so lightning out
of his.
Speaker 5 (09:04):
Hands, absolutely fighting Mace Windu and getting after it. Okay, yes,
and then Jason Garrett came picked him up and threw
him down the shaft. So the lightnse I'm not even
gonna do this, and.
Speaker 1 (09:16):
NBC on Earth's an angle of Dak Prescott spitting at
Jalen Carter first where he was a few yards away
from him. But you see Dak Prescott lean forward, lift
his head up, spit at Jalen Carter. Don't know where
the spit landed, but right away was smiling, laughing. Jalen
Carter and he start joying with each other, and Jalen
(09:40):
Carter spits it Dak and gets thrown out. Here's Mike
Turrico on NBC with the call when they found the
video and are describing what they're seeing watching.

It, Hernandez passes and starts walking up the ramp. Then
you say you were struck. The spit then proceeds to
ricochet off the temple, striking Newman between the third and
the fourth rip.
Speaker 1 (10:07):
That's about where a bit of land it could have
been around there, third or fourth rib. Third and fourth
rib is where it landed on Newman. So again here,
so now before we get to the second spinner in
Roger mc Dak.

Spitz down to towards the ground, but in the direction
of the Eagles with Carter who had walked over there,
and that begins the interaction of the two.

Prescott's spit was down.

So that was Tarico describing it at that point. Now
Dak Prescott has weighed in on that. He just met
the media. They talked about what happened, and the reporter
asked out the whole spit incident with mister Carter and
did you spit at him? And here is Dak Prescott's response.

I'll probably spent a thousand times throughout the game, I
mean especially game day, maybe even in general and something
I'm I guess I'm not proud of. But in that case,
he was trolling. I guess you could say, trying to
mess with Tyler Booker. I was just looking at him.
I was right here by the two lineman, and I
guess I needed to spit and I wasn't gonna spind
on my linman, and I.
Speaker 6 (11:03):
Just spit ahead.
Speaker 4 (11:03):
But I would say he was back there where Joelry
was in that sense, and he asked, or he goes,
you're trying to spin on me? And at that point,
I mean, I felt like like like he was insulting me,
like I don't I wouldn't spin on somebody. I'm damn
sure not trying to spin on you, like we're about
to play a game. I'm wondering why you're trying to
mess with the Rookiets. So when I stepped through, I
actually say the words like what the hell would I
excuse me? But I'm probably even more colorful, what would
(11:25):
I need to spin on you for? And he just
spin on me in that moment and was more of
a surprise than anything. Refs obviously saw it through the flag.
I was like, hell, yeah, we get fifteen yards to
start the game off, didn't realize he was getting ejected.
Unfortunate that he did. Hell of a player changed our
plan and our blocking scheme, as I've told Joel right
before the week that we're going to protect against him.
(11:45):
So helped in that manner. But I don't wish for
anybody to get out of the game. I'm sure he
probably regretsed that to some extent. I'm pretty sure he
knows I didn't try to spin on him, or wasn't
even aiming to spin on him. So something's probably gonnaed
a lot of coverage and a lot of attention that
I'm so sorry for in the sense of h Yeah,
I mean, I know how excited each and every one
(12:07):
of us are right to kick off the season and
the season opener, and hell of a player like that
doesn't even get a chance in the first play. Yeah,
onfortunate circumstances.

Yeah, not buying that. You didn't instigate not buying it.
That's not how you saw his entire body language and
what he did react. He acted very quickly. He leaned
into spit at him. He instigated it. Okay, but here's
where I talk about negotiating, where where I can meet
you in the middle on this. Okay, Okay, Eagles win
the game twenty four to twenty So, okay, Eagles. They're mad, right,

because here's Dak instigating the situation. Whether he where the
spit landed, Dak still instigated this by spinning at him.
They didn't catch it, but they so they caught Jalen Carter.
The NFL is gonna look at this, right because now
Jalen Carter potentially could get suspended for week two, right
that he could get to that's the suspension is on
the table for the NFL is going to look at

this and see that, yeah, Dak might have instigated this
a little bit, so you know what time served and
because they're gonna be could there would be an absolute
uproar if suddenly, oh, Jalen Carter gets suspended when clearly
Dak spits at him, and I'm not buying his reasoning,
like he's probably just trying to instigate, get.

Under his get under his h collar a little bit.

So I think what's gonna happen in this everybody's gonna
be happy about it is that they're gonna say, Okay,
we saw that Dak maybe instigated this, so Jalen Carter
got thrown out of the game time served, he'll be
able to play week two, and the Eagles will say
that's fine. The Cowboys will say, that's fine because Dak's
not getting suspended. We lost the game. We're not losing
our quarterback for week two. The Eagles saying, well, we
(13:41):
lost our guy for week one, but we won the game,
so we're not gonna get too mad about it. And
we know that clearly our player should have gotten thrown
out of the game because you can't do that. You
can't spit out a player, right, So with there more
evidence there, the Eagles will say, Okay, we'll accept it.
We'll accept and that's how it's gonna end. It will
end with them saying Jalen Carter could play week two,
and they're not gonna say that Dak instigated it, because
(14:03):
then then they then there would be an uproar of well,
if you think he instigated spit out a guy, that's
still a penalty, that's still could be a suspension because
we lost our guy for the whole game. You know,
you guys should lose your guys for the whole game.
But the fact that they won the NFL will just
say the jurisprudence was merited. He goes ejected from the game,
and and that's it, right, that's basically a whole game suspension.
(14:24):
You're talking about spending him for two games if it's
an injection another one. So that's how it's gonna end.
And I think everybody's gonna be happy about it.

Yeah, and yeah, with the.

Dak Prescott thing, it's a subject to interpretation. At near instigating,
you know, Carter clearly responds terribly. I don't I don't
take back any of the the details and what we
talked about when we started the show, right, I mean
that all still holds true. It's it's just bad, bad

business and dumb. And Jay Glazer even said he's like,
that's the guy they told me a camp that I
can't mess with, right, So, I mean, that's kind of
the reputation, So don't do it. But I think Dak
also has that in his playbook that he knows that
and whatever's going on with the lineman, Carter's kind of drifting.
It's almost like jumping into a huddle, like we've seen
(15:15):
guys do that on NBA benches, where all of a
sudden they're standing outside of a huddle.

That's kind of what Carter's starting to do.
Speaker 5 (15:21):
He's drifting over that way, so he spits, but he's
staring at him and I don't that's a quick exchange.
But you know, whatever the magic words are that get
Dak to have that bright eyed response, that's it, right.
It triggers from there, and so the NFL has to decide,
all right, do we want to go Zabruta film and

get every piece of tape, including the people that were
filming from the fifty yard line with the telescopic lenses,
and commission all of that, or do we just say
time served?

Here's giant, giant, So the good folks that handle and
administer the NFL charities win. I think that's really where
it comes down to it. Every and everybody's going to
get a tersely worded notice because evident.

point of emphasis. And Ross Tucker talked about this on

they just kept talking that unsportsmanlike conduct penalties were probably
going to be up in the first few weeks because
it was going to be a point of emphasis, right

and the example you're setting. And then right away you
got a guy spitting on somebody. Just don't spin on anyone.

Uh so, never can't tell spitch thut in the corner
man between Dak Prescott and Jalen Carter is in full swing.
Jalen Carter, who was ejected from the game Eagles defensive
tackle tonight for spitting at Dak Prescott. There is later
(21:40):
video that showed that Dak Prescott spit at Jalen Carter,
maybe didn't land it on it, but spit at him
and kind of agitated the situation. We brought you Dak
Prescott's take a few minutes ago. What me, No, I
didn't do anything. I'm very innocent to this. I just
asked what was going on, Yeah, whatever, not buying it,
and I said I'll meet in the middle if the
(22:01):
if the ending of this is the NFL saying well,
Dak sort of instigated this. Jalen Carter served his time,
getting suspended for the first game, for all of that game.
He's going to be able to play in Week two.
I think I think everybody is happy with that. But
now let's hear from Jalen Carter himself met the media
a couple of moments ago in the Eagles locker room
and talked about what he did and how he says, yeah,

it's not going to happen again.
Speaker 8 (22:23):
I heard the rough talking and then I heard him say,
this is a tossupa offense or something like that.
Speaker 3 (22:28):
And that's what I know.
Speaker 2 (22:30):
Did you have a conversation with Nick and I sell
with Ade?

What kind of message did he?

He he I not, I didn't have a conversation yet.

Going to have that conversation, they had to focus on
the game. Still, I don't want to be strapping them
from the game. You know, I'm are you're worried about
the suspending the people. Uh, I get you know that
text what I call and buy a conversation that will
have as name. You know, I walked off the field calmly.
I was not mad.

The rough decision is the rough decision on the situation
when things started to come out and you started seeing

So there he was, look and he said, he said,
good things is not gonna happen again. And here's what
happened with the referee, Like there's no way to defend it.
Like he knows what he did, right.
Speaker 5 (23:13):
Hey, when the other stuff comes out, man, you're gonna see.

Well, I mean, you know that Dak spit at him, right,
I think he knows that that that's what. And now
I can see he didn't spit at him just because
Dak said something, or he spit at him because he
watched Dak spitt at him first, and he got caught ahead.
He got caught up in it. And you look, they
always catch the guy that retaliates, right, That's always the
biggest thing, right. They don't catch the guy that first
did it. They catch the guy that retaliates. So I
(23:39):
think he's talking about that stuff getting out and Dak
spitting at him because Dak, I mean, I mean it.
He leans towards him and he picks up his head
and he spits out at him, and he smiles and
nods and then starts jawing with him. Now, do I
think that Dak Prescott was looking for something to get
the guy ejected?
Speaker 3 (23:56):
No, I think it was. And we're all juiced up.
Speaker 1 (23:58):
Beginning of the game, guys are saying stuff, barking back
and forth, and Dak Prescott said that Jalen Carter was
saying something towards his line, which I'm like, okay, this
is kind of how it goes, and Dak decided to
get in there and kind of spit at him. Now,
do I think that he meant to spit at his face? No,
but he spit at him and that started the situation.
That that instigated the situation. You can't sit here and
tell me that Dak is an innocent bystander on this.
(24:20):
And just oh, I was just minding my own business,
eating ice cream and helping a woman across the street
who needed help, and all of a sudden, I'm getting
spit out by another player in Green. I don't understand this. Yeah, no,
I'm not buying that.
Speaker 3 (24:33):
I don't even even try to figure out who you're invoking.
Speaker 5 (24:36):
Some impression of there, like you're watching walking through Mayberrier
or something. Yeah, there you go look it up, kids.
But it's yeah, certainly not one hundred percent innocent. It's
the attempt to agitate him. And certainly, look, we know
Carter's reputation, right Jay Glazer confirmed it when he visited
with us last last hour, Like not a guy you
(24:58):
trifle with, you know, play your practical jokes and and
a bit of grab ass elsewhere anybody else you want
to look up Jalen Carter's history, it's there right before
his NFL days. It's certainly out there for you to
peruse and go through the devil and the details and
all of that stuff. But in this particular instance, Yeah,
(25:19):
Dak wanted to get a rise out of him spinning
at near in his general direction while having his linement
around him. Right, this is the school yard scenario that
we've all had play out in front of our eyes.
You got the yappie guy who's part of a crew.
In this case it's Dak, but he's got a bunch
of biki myths around him that there's no chance in
(25:41):
hell you're getting through now over the course of a game,
if Jalen Carter hadn't gotten himself suspended, yeah, Dak would
have met the bad end of it the other way.
So that's where Jalen Carter's really, I mean really a
terrible decision.
Speaker 3 (25:56):
I stopped. Sure, No, it's dumb.
Speaker 5 (25:58):
It's a dumb decision retaliate in that way because you
know you were about to give them sixty minutes of
hell and you'll let them off the hook because its
an automatic ejection and disqualification, particularly with the emphasis on
the unsportsmanlike conduct. Now, there's no obvious trigger, at least
by rules that I've looked up here in our super
(26:20):
saluthing that necessitates a suspension of jailing. Carter in his
comments there, tried to lay it out hoping he gets
a little bit of sympathy, and I'm certain in the
Philadelphia area they're taking up a collection for whatever is
fine is, but also recognizing that you put your team
at risk, right, you got to use your head, and
(26:42):
if Dak's going to try to bait you, don't. You
can't buy in, right, That's really it. It's simple, one
on one, the tactic of all right, I'm gonna do
what I can to get under your skin. Right, you
can't go up you playing basketball or you're in the
classroom or whatever and someone's like flicking stuff at you
can't just backhand him. You just can't, and in this case,
(27:04):
spitting directly on him in clear view. I mean, the
official had what looked like giant blue blockers on. Yeah, okay,
it was almost like a face shield, like you knew
it was coming.

Yeah, yeah, yeah.

Those are some big ass glasses that he comes running
into the frame.

is a super Bowl or bust year for the Lions.
They will get past losing both their coordinators. This is
the last shot they have before Jared Goff has to
get paid, Aman Ross saying Brown has to get paid,
Jamison Williams has to get paid. The team is going
to look a lot different after this year. They are

way too talented to not make it to the NFC
title game, and they have the best offense in the NFL.
Williams specifically will have a big year, big breakout year.
Stopping this offense will be impossible. If you voted for
running backs for MVP, Jamir Gibbs would get a lot
of run because the year he had last year even
more of a time show for him this year. Give

me the Lions and give me the Rams, who no
matter who plays quarterback for them, even if Matthew Stafford
is hurt, this offense is made to run and roll.
Even with Jimmy Garoppolo, they are loaded. DeVante Adams will
be a big deal. They'll be the best team in
the NFC West. Give me the Rams and the Lions
the Stafford Bowl and the trade comes full sir, get that.

how that offense looks right? Obviously, defense, they lost a
lot of guys last year. They all come back nice
and healthy, as does David Montgomery back for another run.
