Derek Carr may miss the season due to a shoulder injury.
Saints quarterback. His status for this year is quote iffy. Remember,
he hasn't played the game since he broke several bones

in his non throwing hand in a Week fourteen game
against the Giants. And this shoulder injury is something that
the Saints have reportedly known about for a while now.
It's not known if this is the old ac joint
injury had a couple years ago, if this is something new,
if this is something he played with, if this is
something that happened in the off season. But this shoulder injury,

it could derail him for the season. I thought this
was gonna be true but even before this, but now
I'll double and triple down on it. At nine, the
Saints are gonna draft Jackson Dart. Dart is coming off
the board at nine. And like we said yesterday, every
day there's gonna be an NFL story between now and

the draft that involves Shador Sanders, and about youa Door Sanders,
this is that story because you would think, well, no
matter where he goes, Shad Door Sanders's not gonna fall
past nine. The Saints aren't gonna just take him because
he's there, right. They have spent a lot of time
with Jackson Dart. And part of it is, hey, when
the off season started, the Saints are saying, okay, we're

picking nine, what can we do? What do we like
at quarterback? They start looking at the guys. They really
like Jackson Dart. Right you think, Okay, Sanders is going
one two with cam Ward. Now his time has gotten
closer to the draft Shador Sanders has fallen through. But
the Saints, again I said, they spent a lot of
time you see on Jackson Dart. They're not talking a
lot about what they want. When you pick it nine,

you can't let it be known what your priority is.
But they know they got to get a quarterback. They know,
and Jackson Dart checks all the boxes for them. He
had a long career in college right started over fifty games.
The fans will love it because it's that Mississippi to
New Orleans pipeline made popular by Archie Manning all those
years ago. Jackson Dart is the quarterback riser. They don't

have to trade up to get him. Maybe somebody wants
to trade with them. They can slide down in the draft.
But them sitting at nine, it's they're kind of in
a great spot because right before them and right after them.
It's sort of no man's land, right. The Jets aren't
gonna take a quarterback at seven. They're not gonna come
in while Aaron Glenn is trying to set a culture. Hey,
we gave a lot of money to Justin Fields. We
love him. We're not gonna suddenly grab a quarterback at
(07:56):
seven and throw this into flux, right, We're not gonna
do that. I'm gonna set my culture and then we
can figure out the court. We'd like Justin Fields. They
want him to be their quarterback of the present and future.
So once you get outside of five, okay, there's nobody
till the Saints pick at nine. Then you get outside
of the Saints at nine, there's nobody until you want
to get down towards the Steelers. So that's a perfect

sweet spot for that, and the fact that they have
done so much work on him. Yeah, outside of cam
Ward going number one of the Titans, which seems like
a FATA complete at this point. If you told me
where's the if I could try to guarantee you a
place where another quarterback is going to end up, it's
Jackson Dart at nine to the New Orleans Saints.

I do like the cut of your Jim the chaos theory,
and that Dart comes all the way up there. We've
seen some mock drafts that had the quarterbacks going one, two, three.
That's backed off a little bit as we get closer
to D day here and decision day for all of

Drew Lock. How about that one? A little little extra

for you, but for the draft purposes, you know, there's
so many guys in that second second tier, right, you
got Schuck, you got Viewers, You've got all these other
guys that come all the way down the line. Your guy,
I'm a cord that I wonder if the Saints don't
draft a quarterback here. And it's actually something that was

proffered by one of our Twitter users. I had followers
and listeners. I postured it and put it in my
notes earlier, but I'll give him credit for reminding me
of the thought earlier. And this goes to Gunner. It's
like Aaron Rodgers hasn't signed with anybody yet, He's mulling
over offers. Does the Big Easy kind of look like

an opportunity for him?

Maybe? Oh no, come on, he's got to go someplace
where he can win that team.

to play, why would you not go to Pittsburgh? Right,

But look at the Steelers, look at look at their history. Man,
they win ten games every year, doesn't matter. They win
ten games every year. Telling me the Saints are going
to win ten games, I have more confidence that I'm
going to get to the playoffs with the Steelers that
I do with the Saints.

I don't know if if they stay healthy, and this
is always the big if, right, if you get a
lave back to what he is, You've got a couple
of burners on the outside. Kamara is still a good
running back. Defense wasn't terrible. I think you got it.
Up there that you can do.

The Steelers haven't finished under five hundred and twenty three years,
no matter what kind of team they put out there.
And they put a team out there at Russell Wilson
at quarterback the last five weeks and they still won
ten games.

a potential option because but the Steelers are also a
squad where you're not gonna come in and you're not
gonna be the Aaron Rodgers. You're gonna have to give
up some of your Aaron Rodgers nests if you're going
to that squad.

they're doing. But man, this is not a team that's
gonna go anywhere in the play. I'm not gonna suddenly
get it. This is not a team that had the
the chemistry of last year's team. It's just a bunch

of guys. So if you're head coach, if you got
him in there and you're not even he's not even
there for the reasons you brought him in, what are
you gonna do?

You lock you're locked into these players. You give up
five first round picks for Bridges, Right, you're locked into
these guys. It's gotta be something new. It's got to
be a new kind of energy, something new to come

You can't backslide. And if they bat the if they
lose to the Pistons, first of all, my family be

very happy. And they're already trash talking on on on

The Nuggets, for instance, can finish fourth in the West,
they can finish seventh in the West, depending on how

tonight is Nikola Jokic became the third player in the
history of the NBA to average a triple double for
the season and incredible accomplishment, and that should net him
second place in voting for NBA MVP.

I mean really, I know it's hard to say, well,
wait three, history of the game. Yeah, yeah, yeah, play
it's MVP and Player of the Year. People want to
blur that line about about uh well this guy's yeah, okay,
Well then then Jordan would have won every single year
and Shaquille O'Neil would have won MVP every single year.
I mean, that's how it would have went. But every

year the Nuggets are the same. They're a fifty win
team in the regular season. And Jokich is great, right,
you need to kind of you're gonna be the MVP.
This is I led my team to something that. Boy,
where would they be without me? And yes, of course,
where would Nuggets be without Jokic? They wouldn't nearly be
as good, but he led them to the middle of
the standings. That's where they are. Shake Giljess Alexander was

unreal spending so much time this year. You had you
had a pretty good supporting cast, but you had guys
miss a ton of time. Chet Holmgren missed a ton
of time, and it didn't matter. I mean, that's you're
talking about a top pick in the NBA draft. It
didn't matter if they had him. They were still winning.
You know, Isaiah Hartenstein was hurt. He was a huge
signing off of the Knicks this offseason. Doesn't you miss him?

He was tough? Yeah, well I miss I miss a
few guys. But Gildes Alexander is able to lead the
Thunder to the best record in the NBA. That's the MVP.
You gotta do something in the standings to be MVP again.
If you want to have a Player of the Year award,

if you want to have the Kobe Bryant Player of
the Year Award, you want to make it some new hardware.
That's awesome, and you have that in the MVP. Terrific,
But you gotta kind of lead somebody to something. It's
kind of like a couple of years ago when Steph
Curry had a really great regular season when he was
thirty two, thirty three, and it was, oh, Steph's got
to be the MVP. They're seventh in the West. They
were barely made. They were barely hanging on in the

playing round. Can't give that guy MVP wherever they be
without him. Yeah, but you gotta lead your team higher
than the middle of the pack, right, and gildess Alexander
makes his teammates better. He carries him on his back. Look,
we've seen a lot of thunder this year. No matter what.
He's the constant, and they win, and they win big.
He's the MVP A great years Jokic had SGA is

the MVP.

Yeah, that's it. If we want to yearly put a
like you're passing around a fantasy sports trophy, put his
name up there as best player this year.

But the team didn't achieve any great heights because of him. Yes,
they might have achieved. I mean, in the wake of
Michael Malone getting fired, maybe it puts Nikoly Jokic up
a little higher. But he doesn't play defense, right, we
spotlighted that time and again, Shaye plays defense. You talk
about what he means to that squad overall, look prohibitive

favorite in the odds as much as you know, folks
can do the great talking game about the triple double
average and we all marvel at what Jokic is There's
no question about it. This sixty point triple double will
stand forever. But the reality is you're a middle of
the pack squad. As you said, fourth to seventh.

It's like when of those guys were with Like I
always go back to eighty seven and Andre Dawson, fantastic

like I will say this about about Jokich is that
if we hadn't seen Russell Westbrook go for a triple double,

of it, I would give Jokic more of a shot.
Like we watched Hey Otani or Lindor for MVP last year.
Otani went fifty to fifty. We'd never seen it before.
He's the MVP. If we hadn't seen it so much
in the last decade, I would say Yokic would have
a bed.

Kind of ironic. This is gone kind of ironic, then
Westbrook's screwing him again.

Everything comes out to being Westbrook's fault.

We lost several games because Malone was too trusting and

A huge day in the NFL, because we might have
saw something today that completely froze the top ten into flux.
Derek Carr may miss the season due to a shoulder injury.
Saints quarterback. His status for this year is quote iffy. Remember,
he hasn't played the game since he broke several bones

in his non throwing hand in a Week fourteen game
against the Giants. And this shoulder injury is something that
the Saints have reportedly known about for a while now.
It's not known if this is the old ac joint
injury had a couple years ago, if this is something new,
if this is something he played with, if this is
something that happened in the off season. But this shoulder injury,
(06:07):
it could derail him for the season. I thought this
was gonna be true but even before this, but now
I'll double and triple down on it. At nine, the
Saints are gonna draft Jackson Dart. Dart is coming off
the board at nine. And like we said yesterday, every
day there's gonna be an NFL story between now and
(06:29):
the draft that involves Shador Sanders, and about youa Door Sanders,
this is that story because you would think, well, no
matter where he goes, Shad Door Sanders's not gonna fall
past nine. The Saints aren't gonna just take him because
he's there, right. They have spent a lot of time
with Jackson Dart. And part of it is, hey, when
the off season started, the Saints are saying, okay, we're
(06:49):
picking nine, what can we do? What do we like
at quarterback? They start looking at the guys. They really
like Jackson Dart. Right you think, Okay, Sanders is going
one two with cam Ward. Now his time has gotten
closer to the draft Shador Sanders has fallen through. But
the Saints, again I said, they spent a lot of
time you see on Jackson Dart. They're not talking a
lot about what they want. When you pick it nine,
(07:10):
you can't let it be known what your priority is.
But they know they got to get a quarterback. They know,
and Jackson Dart checks all the boxes for them. He
had a long career in college right started over fifty games.
The fans will love it because it's that Mississippi to
New Orleans pipeline made popular by Archie Manning all those
years ago. Jackson Dart is the quarterback riser. They don't
(07:33):
have to trade up to get him. Maybe somebody wants
to trade with them. They can slide down in the draft.
But them sitting at nine, it's they're kind of in
a great spot because right before them and right after them.
It's sort of no man's land, right. The Jets aren't
gonna take a quarterback at seven. They're not gonna come
in while Aaron Glenn is trying to set a culture. Hey,
we gave a lot of money to Justin Fields. We
love him. We're not gonna suddenly grab a quarterback at
(07:56):
seven and throw this into flux, right, We're not gonna
do that. I'm gonna set my culture and then we
can figure out the court. We'd like Justin Fields. They
want him to be their quarterback of the present and future.
So once you get outside of five, okay, there's nobody
till the Saints pick at nine. Then you get outside
of the Saints at nine, there's nobody until you want
to get down towards the Steelers. So that's a perfect
(08:16):
sweet spot for that, and the fact that they have
done so much work on him. Yeah, outside of cam
Ward going number one of the Titans, which seems like
a FATA complete at this point. If you told me
where's the if I could try to guarantee you a
place where another quarterback is going to end up, it's
Jackson Dart at nine to the New Orleans Saints.
Speaker 3 (08:34):
I do like the cut of your Jim the chaos theory,
and that Dart comes all the way up there. We've
seen some mock drafts that had the quarterbacks going one, two, three.
That's backed off a little bit as we get closer
to D day here and decision day for all of
these war rooms along the way, and certainly we'll have
all that coverage here on Fox Sports Radio with our

panel of experts, and then you and I come up
in a viserate what the different gms did. Except you'll
throw flowers at the Jets.

But it's the idea that the they're gonna take an
offensive lineman. I want, I'd love them to take Tyde Warren,

for you, but for the draft purposes, you know, there's
so many guys in that second second tier, right, you
got Schuck, you got Viewers, You've got all these other
guys that come all the way down the line. Your guy,
I'm a cord that I wonder if the Saints don't
draft a quarterback here. And it's actually something that was

proffered by one of our Twitter users. I had followers
and listeners. I postured it and put it in my
notes earlier, but I'll give him credit for reminding me
of the thought earlier. And this goes to Gunner. It's
like Aaron Rodgers hasn't signed with anybody yet, He's mulling
over offers. Does the Big Easy kind of look like

an opportunity for him?

Maybe? Oh no, come on, he's got to go someplace
where he can win that team.

He could, but he could go win in that division.

they win ten games every year, doesn't matter. They win
ten games every year. Telling me the Saints are going
to win ten games, I have more confidence that I'm
going to get to the playoffs with the Steelers that

I don't know if if they stay healthy, and this
is always the big if, right, if you get a
lave back to what he is, You've got a couple
of burners on the outside. Kamara is still a good
running back. Defense wasn't terrible. I think you got it.

The Steelers haven't finished under five hundred and twenty three years,
no matter what kind of team they put out there.
And they put a team out there at Russell Wilson
at quarterback the last five weeks and they still won

a potential option because but the Steelers are also a
squad where you're not gonna come in and you're not
gonna be the Aaron Rodgers. You're gonna have to give

at all? But nobody wants to find that out right,
Nobody wants to play the Lakers. Meanwhile, in the East,
I think they're all fighting to get see. Hey, I
want to play the Knicks and the Pistons. Congratulations they won.

They get to play the Knicks in the first round.

The Knicks, I mean they look done. They look absolutely done.
They had a chance tonight to clinch third place overall
by winning. Now they wound up clinching third place because, uh,
you had the later game where the the Indiana Pacers lost.
So it's the Pace and the Bucks locked into the
first round. The Knicks are up by twenty four against

the Calves in a game where the Cavaliers rested everybody.
No Donovan Mitchell, no Jerome, no Mark Price, no Brad Darty,
no Craig Elo. They rested everyone tonight.

on and I asked him point blank, if they lose

in the first round, as Tim's gone, and he said, yeah. Now,
there's no reports to Tim's being in trouble right now, obviously,
you know the Nicks are playing. It's smart. It's not like, hey,
we put a we put a dictum out there saying
that you need to win or you're done. No, no, no,
the okay, we'll letting see how things go. But if
they lose in the first round or they're non competitive
in a second round against the Celtic slash Calves, guess what, man,

it's something new, because you know, it's not just that, hey,
all of a sudden, Tims is a bad coach. It's
that defense has been the knicks hallmark for the last
five years under TIBs, and they've been getting better and better,
and now they're one of the worst defenses in the league. Again,
how many times do I have to watch a team
shoot fifty percent from the floor against the Knicks and
win and tonight it's just a bunch of guys.

They Yeah, they had Garland, Strews said nineteen.

And the thing is it was actually Wayne Garland, former

have to watch that and understand that This is just
not This is just not how it should be. The
Knicks are winning games. They're a fifty win team because
you know what, they have an incredible amount of talent
in their starting five, right, I mean, I don't know

anybody has more talent overall in their starting five than
the Knicks. Two.

Why is it gonna make the Knicks look bad? I

Teams behind they're tied with the Spurs, Yeah, okay, teams
behind them, the Pacers. Yeah, there's a player team, the Jazz,
the Nets, the Hawks, the Pelicans, and the Sixers.
Speaker 1 (22:16):
There's only one thing wrong with all those teams. There's
only one thing all there's only one thing wrong all
of these name like eights, a lot.
Speaker 3 (22:25):
Of powerhouse all stars in there.
Speaker 1 (22:27):
No, no, no, there's only one thing wrong with those teams.
One thing. They stink. That's what they all have in common.
They stink. I mean it. And when when you're a
head coach and your hallmark has been defense, and here's
a team that is Helen gone from there. Man, Like,
it's just I've thrown talented guys out there and let's

see if we can win games. Like, that's what they're doing.
They got Karl Anthony Towns in the offseason, they got
Michael Bridges. That's how they're winning these games. It's because
they're out talenting other teams on most of the night.
It's on five out of every eight nights. It's what
they're doing. But man, this is not a team that's
gonna go anywhere in the play. I'm not gonna suddenly
get it. This is not a team that had the
the chemistry of last year's team. It's just a bunch

of guys. So if you're head coach, if you got
him in there and you're not even he's not even
there for the reasons you brought him in, what are
you gonna do?
Speaker 2 (23:19):
Right?

You lock you're locked into these players. You give up
five first round picks for Bridges, Right, you're locked into
these guys. It's gotta be something new. It's got to
be a new kind of energy, something new to come
in where, hey, maybe next year the Knicks will put
it all together with their talent. Because I'm telling you.
You can't backslide. And if they bat the if they
lose to the Pistons, first of all, my family be

very happy. And they're already trash talking on on on
text on already, yeah barely, oh yeah, no, no no.
As soon as they found out Pistons next, they're like, yeah, yeah,
everybody's doing it.

But I mean, if you if you can't get past
the Pistons in the first round, what's suddenly gonna say
we're gonna change things next year? What do you what
else are you gonna bring in? What do you need
to do? You know, you need some kind of different leadership,
different way to things go. And as much as I
want to say, hey man, Danny Hurley on this team
would be great, the first guy they'd call, I guarantee,
who's gonna see You're gonna see link to this if

they get rid of Tibbs is Jay Wright one hundred
percent first guy he won a national title, two national titles.
With these guys, he'll probably find a way to get
Devincenzo back from the Timberwolves of the off season. Find
a way to do that. Jay Wright will be the
first guy linked to this job one hundred percent.

I kind of dig that philosophy right there. But certainly
for Tibbadeau, it's been about defense and short rotations. Time
for he and or whoever succeeds him and uh, mister
Rose to go back to the drawing board because the
se an eight man rotation and the eight is a
maybe on a given night clearly doesn't work. As you

come out and down the stretch, you're you're on fumes.

I I don't know how it can get better. I
really don't. I I'm hoping against hope that there's lightning

Everybody wants to play the Lakers and the and the

next of the team, everybody wants to play. I want
to play them. I want to play them right now.

there some kind of way that I don't know, maybe
you or another Knicks fan of great reputation could take
the joystick and make Karl Anthony Towns move on defense. No,

Now still comes down to Sunday for a few teams.
The Nuggets, for instance, can finish fourth in the West,
they can finish seventh in the West, depending on how

games go on Sunday. But one thing that was clinched
tonight is Nikola Jokic became the third player in the
history of the NBA to average a triple double for
the season and incredible accomplishment, and that should net him
second place in voting for NBA MVP.
Speaker 3 (26:56):
That sounds about right.
Speaker 1 (26:57):
I mean really, I know it's hard to say, well,
wait three, history of the game. Yeah, yeah, yeah, play
it's MVP and Player of the Year. People want to
blur that line about about uh well this guy's yeah, okay,
Well then then Jordan would have won every single year
and Shaquille O'Neil would have won MVP every single year.
I mean, that's how it would have went. But every
(27:18):
year the Nuggets are the same. They're a fifty win
team in the regular season. And Jokich is great, right,
you need to kind of you're gonna be the MVP.
This is I led my team to something that. Boy,
where would they be without me? And yes, of course,
where would Nuggets be without Jokic? They wouldn't nearly be
as good, but he led them to the middle of
the standings. That's where they are. Shake Giljess Alexander was
(27:43):
unreal spending so much time this year. You had you
had a pretty good supporting cast, but you had guys
miss a ton of time. Chet Holmgren missed a ton
of time, and it didn't matter. I mean, that's you're
talking about a top pick in the NBA draft. It
didn't matter if they had him. They were still winning.
You know, Isaiah Hartenstein was hurt. He was a huge
signing off of the Knicks this offseason. Doesn't you miss him?
(28:04):
He was tough? Yeah, well I miss I miss a
few guys. But Gildes Alexander is able to lead the
Thunder to the best record in the NBA. That's the MVP.
You gotta do something in the standings to be MVP again.
If you want to have a Player of the Year award,
(28:25):
if you want to have the Kobe Bryant Player of
the Year Award, you want to make it some new hardware.
That's awesome, and you have that in the MVP. Terrific,
But you gotta kind of lead somebody to something. It's
kind of like a couple of years ago when Steph
Curry had a really great regular season when he was
thirty two, thirty three, and it was, oh, Steph's got
to be the MVP. They're seventh in the West. They
were barely made. They were barely hanging on in the
(28:47):
playing round. Can't give that guy MVP wherever they be
without him. Yeah, but you gotta lead your team higher
than the middle of the pack, right, and gildess Alexander
makes his teammates better. He carries him on his back. Look,
we've seen a lot of thunder this year. No matter what.
He's the constant, and they win, and they win big.
He's the MVP A great years Jokic had SGA is
(29:08):
the MVP.
Speaker 3 (29:08):
Yeah, that's it. If we want to yearly put a
like you're passing around a fantasy sports trophy, put his
name up there as best player this year.
Speaker 1 (29:17):
Have at it.
Speaker 3 (29:19):
But the team didn't achieve any great heights because of him. Yes,
they might have achieved. I mean, in the wake of
Michael Malone getting fired, maybe it puts Nikoly Jokic up
a little higher. But he doesn't play defense, right, we
spotlighted that time and again, Shaye plays defense. You talk
about what he means to that squad overall, look prohibitive
(29:41):
favorite in the odds as much as you know, folks
can do the great talking game about the triple double
average and we all marvel at what Jokic is There's
no question about it. This sixty point triple double will
stand forever. But the reality is you're a middle of
the pack squad. As you said, fourth to seventh.

It's like when of those guys were with Like I
always go back to eighty seven and Andre Dawson, fantastic
gear for the Cubs. They sucked. Yeah, so what like
great stats, fantastic They still lost a ton of games.
Had other guys that achieved, So why.

Are we doing that here? Six eighty six, the Mets
won the NL East by thirty games and Mike Schmidt
was the MVP. Come on, man, really, come on. But
like I will say this about about Jokich is that
if we hadn't seen Russell Westbrook go for a triple double,
average a triple double for season four times, the newness

of it, I would give Jokic more of a shot.
Like we watched Hey Otani or Lindor for MVP last year.
Otani went fifty to fifty. We'd never seen it before.
He's the MVP. If we hadn't seen it so much
in the last decade, I would say Yokic would have
a bed.
Speaker 3 (30:55):
Kind of ironic. This is gone kind of ironic, then
Westbrook's screwing him again.
Speaker 1 (31:00):
Everything comes out to being Westbrook's fault.
Speaker 3 (31:03):
We lost several games because Malone was too trusting and
and loyal, and now it cost him the MVP because
he'd won Trip, he had the triple doubles before Nicole.
Speaker 1 (31:15):
How do you feel about finishing second? This is all
Russ's fault. It's all his everything has been his fault.
