Speaker 3 (00:29):
Oh, that is us. Good evening, everybody. It is the
bonus hour of the show. VJ Husky, Arnie Span. You're
in for Jason Smith and his best friend Mike Harmon
here on Fox Sports Radio. I hope everybody had a
great Thanksgiving now that we move on, you know, VJ,

(00:49):
this used to be kind of like my favorite day
of the year, but this was America's favorite day of
the year in spending Black Friday. Remember the stories people
lining up all night long and trying to be the
first into like Best Buy or or whatever store they
wanted to get, like the TV or whatever they over

(01:12):
my TV. Those days are over now, you.

Speaker 4 (01:15):
Know that that still happens in certain parts. I'll tell
you this about Black Friday. Yeah, I have never ever
once shopped outside on Black Friday. Never.

Speaker 3 (01:25):
Oh, I've done it. I've done it many many years ago,
when used to line up like overnight. Oh no, no,
I'll tell you what I did once, just real quick,
Wick what this was must have been like twenty years ago,
and the Best Buy was having a really big special
on TVs back when TV's.

Speaker 4 (01:44):
Were first came out. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, I got
so Plasmas my mom, my mom. We went down there
and the line was so long. I told the manager
best by my mom, which she was blind at the time.
She was blind, even though she was buying a TV.

Speaker 3 (02:01):
Uh. And then I couldn't wait in line, and he
let us cut to the front of the line because
my mom was blind to get a TV. Oh, there
was so many people mad. But the only reason I
bring it up is because I'm buying a TV. I
didn't have to wait till Black Friday. But TVs are
so cheap nowadays compared to what I mean, I can

(02:23):
get like a ninety eight inch TV for less than
two thousand dollars.

Speaker 4 (02:26):
Oh that's it. I mean, I deal even better that
Right now. I'm not gonna say the store because they're
not our a sponsor and they give me some money,
then I'll mention them. But the other day I was
in their store and they had fifty four inch videos
for two twenty nine.

Speaker 3 (02:39):
Oh wow, yeah yeah, but I got's like a fifty
four inch.

Speaker 4 (02:41):
I wanted to go up bigger mine because I thought
about because in my brain, I'm like, bam, I'm about
to grab two of them, mount them up on the
wall next to each other.

Speaker 3 (02:48):
That is a great but that's a great price.

Speaker 2 (02:50):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (02:50):
So basically five hundred for two fifty four inches to
mount on noy of lib rooms so you could put
on two different games.

Speaker 5 (02:57):
Do you get, like, come.

Speaker 3 (02:58):
Now, do you know the thing you have to get
to make it a clear picture? Like forget about like
like you know you know what I'm talking about where
you have to have that special thing in the TV.

Speaker 4 (03:08):
I don't care about none of that man that No.

Speaker 3 (03:10):
I know a smart TV, but yeah, you got to
get like the one that makes it a.

Speaker 4 (03:14):
Clearer make sure anything like that. Listen, man, I t
adp man. As long as it's a most TV, that's
I think that's what it's called. Like it's a clear picture, dude,
I can see who it is, Like it's not fuzzy,
it's not.

Speaker 5 (03:26):
I don't need it. Looks like you can put your
hand in the team.

Speaker 4 (03:31):
Well, I don't want to sit that damn close to
put my hand in the damn TV.

Speaker 3 (03:35):
So that's my do I want to like that.

Speaker 4 (03:37):
That's not a feature. That's not a feature to me.
I'm looking for, man, just a nice a nice tea
light thin, put it up back and mount it up
on the wall as long as I can. Nowadays you
can you can sink all of your streaming advice streaming
to the TV right clark old and then sign.

Speaker 5 (03:55):
And you use biking password.

Speaker 3 (03:57):
But the TV you need that, like like that clear
something to make it like the ultimate clear picture. You
need like some type of but what model.

Speaker 4 (04:06):
Number or something over? What is the ultimate clear pit
like the TV's I'm in the studio with right now
Fox Sports Radio out here. I got four nice sauce
TVs up. The picture looks fine in all four of them.
I couldn't imagine it getting like what is it?

Speaker 5 (04:19):
What is it?

Speaker 3 (04:20):
Three D?

Speaker 5 (04:20):
Do the people have to light lean?

Speaker 3 (04:22):
I don't know. I have no idea I got I
was walking around one of the stores and they're like
this one's more expensive, and I'm like, I can't really
tell the difference, but I want I want something nice.
It is Black Friday. Uh And like I said, people
used to go crazy for this stuff. Nowadays people don't
really care. It's not a it's not really that big
of a shopping day like it used to. Anyway.

Speaker 4 (04:44):
Yeah, I was about to say, because they have they
have cyber Monday, Monday Friday wherever.

Speaker 5 (04:50):
And here's the deal. I've been in sales and marketing
and it.

Speaker 3 (04:53):
Starts before Black Friday.

Speaker 4 (04:54):
But go ahead, right, I've been in I've been in
sales and marketing, uh so much of a portion of
my adult life working that I know how marketing goes,
and I know how the stores up sell prices with
a sticker and then make you think they're getting a
cheaper sticker. Another. Did you see the video about the
Christmas trees.

Speaker 3 (05:14):
Yeah, like, no, if somebody like walked into Walmart or
something said two hundred dollars bargaining one fifty, and then
he pulled back the sticker says or so exactly.

Speaker 5 (05:24):
The price is already.

Speaker 4 (05:25):
Yeah. Those the Christmas trees, they have the love they
have one two ninety and they're saying they're originally one
seventy five, so you're getting like a fifty dollars and
he pulls the tag, the little sticker on the box,
and the price on the boxes one twenty. They're actually
charging you more for what they probably paid as far
as they were buying them as individual trees.

Speaker 5 (05:46):
Now they're buying them in boke. That's fine, but they're
one twenty.

Speaker 3 (05:49):
Man.

Speaker 4 (05:50):
I used to sell Kirby vacums from door to door
in a dead winner in Connecticut years Yeah, exactly, Wow, Yeah,
I used to sell Kirby vacuum cleaners. The price is
right on the box for three seventy five life. But
we don't let the customer see the box. We just
pull out the vacuum, put it together, do a demonstration
show how can we get their carpet? And we used
to start the machines at like eleven hundred. That it's

(06:11):
called it's called drop down selling. You start high and
then your bargain. It's like the car dealership. Do you
think that car is really ninety thousand dollars?

Speaker 3 (06:20):
I hate cars.

Speaker 4 (06:21):
Yeah, cars fifty to fifty five thousand dollars, but they
have to make twenty to thirty thousand per car in
order to keep their dealership open. And really, yes, I
used to sell cars, so I know how it goes.
Do you know diamonds are marked up eight hundred percent?
I know diamonds are marked up, right, So it's a
waste where you're like, yeah, I got a nice diamrine
for my girl, and how about you wait for three thousand? Okay,

(06:43):
so that diamond was like three hundred fifty. That diamonds
like three hundredour hundreds.

Speaker 3 (06:48):
Now you're making everybody feel about its right now.

Speaker 4 (06:51):
What I'm doing is no listen the Gray Steve Harmon,
who's now haul going into the Hall of Fame. I'll
be at the ceremony in January, he says, VJ. Our
job and sports talk ready is to entertain and to educate.
I am educating. I am educating people. Now they're gonna
listen and go hold on, man, I was listening to
the radio one day and this dude said diamonds was
marked up. Yeah, like brown diamonds. Remember when chocolate diamonds

(07:11):
was a thing like five years ago. Do you know
that's the dirty part of the diamond all right?

Speaker 5 (07:17):
But they make you feel like, oh, chocolate.

Speaker 4 (07:19):
Yeah, it's the dirty part of the diamond they used
to throw away until somebody said, hold up.

Speaker 5 (07:24):
What if we call them chocolate diamonds and we sell.

Speaker 4 (07:27):
Them for more than recorded diamonds? And somebody way, all right,
let's try it around me. It works for me. What
Hall of Famous Hartman going into? What are you talking
at the Southern California Radio Broadcast Hall of Fame? Man?
He They called in during a Hartman and Husky show
on Sunday to tell him live one Sunday morning.

Speaker 3 (07:44):
I never get inducted into anything. I never get dominated
from nothing. I didn't even get dominated for the for
the like the the l a Jewish fame, I hang
with the.

Speaker 4 (07:53):
Hell it's a big it's the same thing. It's like
you know, chick Hearn's in it.

Speaker 3 (07:59):
I didn't show it out. I was a local. I
had a good ratings in that way.

Speaker 4 (08:02):
And listen, I'm not the guy that makes the decisions.
All I know is I said, Harbi, get separate. My
partner now is a Hall of Famer, and I got
my invite. I'll be at the induction man watch as inspirations. Hell, listen,
I want an Emmy. I feel like I'm Ammy material, bro,
I'm serious, I do TV too. I wanted if there's
an Warn, I really want Arnie. Honestly, I want an Ammy, Dude,

(08:25):
I want it. I want a few. I want like four.
Five of them's not going to do it.

Speaker 3 (08:30):
You know, they're they're doing a TV show on based
on myself and one of my sidekicks from Phoenix, Arizona.
Really yeah, they're they're pretty close to getting it sold.
If they get it sold, one of the actually, uh,
one of the guys, one of the hosts on weekends,
is working on the project. Also. Really yeah, it's crazy.

Speaker 5 (08:51):
I'll pray for you, man, I'll put that in the air. Man,
I hope you get that.

Speaker 3 (08:54):
I'm not I have nothing I have even though the
guy's named after me and the stories are about me,
I have nothing to do it. Well, that's the funny part.
I have nothing to do with I get no money. Well, yeah,
so that child I'm gonna have to sue.

Speaker 4 (09:05):
Well, Rocky had nothing to do with a real man
named Rocky Bobol.

Speaker 5 (09:09):
But that's true.

Speaker 3 (09:12):
You know. Look, we got a lot to get to.
It is the bonus hour of the show. Last segment.
We'll give our picks, so we'll have to go ahead
and do that. Just kind of wrapping up what we
saw earlier today. Uh, we had the Chiefs and the Cowboys.
Cowboys winning thirty one twenty eight. I think it's o
v er for the Kansas City Chiefs. They're done so
they're six and six and two of the teams are chasing.

(09:36):
They've lost to so not only the two games behind,
that makes them three games behind her. They have to
make up three games. They're not gonna make it. Where
did it go wrong for the Chiefs? And did Patrick
Mahomes lose a little bit or was it just everybody else?
And also you knew those one run gay are the

(09:56):
one score games was not going to live up like
it did last year when they were twelve and zero.
This year, I believe they were one and five or
one and six. Now you knew that was eventually gonna
catch up to them. What was the reason why they're
not gonna go to the playoffs or do you think
they'll still go to the playoffs.

Speaker 5 (10:13):
It's gonna be tough to give to the playoffs. I'll
tell you why.

Speaker 4 (10:15):
I just don't think they'll go to the playoffs this year.
As you mentioned, they have too many teams in front
of them, that the Bills, the Texans, and the Jaguars
in front of them. They lost all those teams, right,
So yeah, I thought it was two. I didn't know three.
They lost to the Texans, lost to the Bills, lost
of the Jugs. So they're they're behind all the team
and excuse me, and the Chargers Chargers beat them, yeah
they charger. Yeah, four, So four teams in front of them.

(10:36):
They have to do a lot of work. Where went
wrong with them? It didn't go wrong. The Chiefs have
played a lot of football, and we see this in sports.
They played a lot of football. They've been to the
AFC Championship Game every year Pat Mahomes's career, and they've
played in five Super Bowls. That's a long time to
play because these Super Bowls go to February now, right,

(10:56):
all right, So you get the rest of February and
you get March off, right, it ain't get April. Well May,
they're back in camp.

Speaker 2 (11:03):
May.

Speaker 4 (11:03):
They're meeting back up after the draft, right, and then
you meet again in June, and then you get a
little break in July before training camp, and then you're
right back at it preseason kickoff Sunday or Thursday night
in September. Here we go again. That's a long time
for a team to be locked in. Now, somebody will go, well, VJ,
what about a team that makes the playoffs every year?
All right, you made the playoffs ever year. You're done
by the middle of January. I'm still playing, brother, I'm

(11:25):
still going and you're not the Chiefs. You're not getting
to the playoffs every year. They're getting to the conference
championship every year. So they're going to late January guarantee.
That's a different mentality, that's a different focus, that's a
different physicality on your body. It's different when you know
you're gonna be in the conference championship game of the

(11:45):
Super Bowl every single year for four to five years.

Speaker 5 (11:49):
You know what I'm saying.

Speaker 3 (11:50):
Right Let me ask you this because I could picture
this in my mind right now. Travis Kelcey up in
Rhode Island with Taylor Swift sitting in some huge man
there listening to our show right now, and that's probably
what they're doing. And you have a chance to talk
to Travis. A Travis, it's time to hang it up,
or do you come back for that one year, which

(12:11):
is what I think he really wants to do. I
think he wants to come back for another year. He
has lost it. I wouldn't blame him if he wanted
to come back for another year. I still think he
has one more year left, but he's certainly at the
end of his career. There's no doubt about that.

Speaker 4 (12:25):
If I'm Travis Kiuse listen, If I was Travis, I'd
have went out on top. I'd have done it. And
I said the same thing about Aaron Donald. Remember Aaron
Donald had the chance to really walk away on top, right,
and they came back and had a disastrous I think
it was a four and twelve year. They had a disaster.
Then they kind of picked it up the final year
and then he's like, Okay, we did good enough that
I could kind of go out. Everybody will kind of
forget that one bad year after the Super Bowl year

(12:46):
with the Super Bowl let down when he finally retired.
But I'm John Elway right, walk away on top, man?

Speaker 3 (12:52):
Does it really make a big difference if you walk
away on top?

Speaker 2 (12:54):
Yes?

Speaker 4 (12:55):
Absolutely, it makes a difference to them, like damn us,
who are we forget? You know?

Speaker 5 (12:59):
Bumpus.

Speaker 4 (13:00):
But do you what do you think it makes a
difference than it Dann Marino walked off? What was his
last game, Jacksonville Jaguaars playoff game sixty to seven.

Speaker 3 (13:07):
We got clopp do cast.

Speaker 5 (13:08):
Sixty to seven. Dude, you don't think that that still
pisses him off to this?

Speaker 3 (13:12):
How many people can walk away as a Super Bowl
champ though?

Speaker 4 (13:14):
I mean, but when you get an opportunity to do so,
if you get in your later year Jerome Bennison, John.

Speaker 5 (13:19):
L Way, It's happened.

Speaker 3 (13:21):
It's happened. But I just didn't think it was that
big of a deal, at least to me. It's not
that big of a deal.

Speaker 4 (13:25):
Yeah, but it's not us though you're talking about right now.
It's Travis could have walked off two years ago.

Speaker 3 (13:31):
But he didn't. So now what do you do? Do
you come back for another year?

Speaker 6 (13:34):
That?

Speaker 5 (13:34):
See, that's another it's not just how long the chiefs.

Speaker 3 (13:36):
So no, don't take it to the fact that he's
dating a Taylor Swift that they're gonna get married. I
never think about it because he could have a great
life either way. You can have a great life.

Speaker 4 (13:44):
Boy, He's gonna make a ton of money off the
field anyway, and his brother we're making a ton of
money during the podcast. So it's not a money thing,
right of course, save your body. You're older, you know
you're older, going to walk away, go live your second
part of your life. But also the thing with the
chiefs age, it's not just time to if they've spent
on a fielding plane and the mentality you have to
have and how you got to be locked in all
the way down to the end. It's also aged, like

(14:06):
some of those guys are getting a little long into
the getting older.

Speaker 3 (14:09):
He's part of the reason why they're not going to
make the blayouts.

Speaker 4 (14:12):
And they haven't been able to replace some of the
younger power talent that they had that they had before,
and that's also been a problem for them. But if
to answer your question about Travis Kelsey, if I'm Travis Kelcey,
it's okay, man, like, just don't don't hang on, you know,
don't hang on. There's no there's no point in it.

(14:32):
Don't hang on.

Speaker 5 (14:33):
But some guys can't walk away.

Speaker 4 (14:35):
Charles Barkley tells a really cool story where he says
he walked into the Houston Rockets office front of rights
one day during the off season to retire. He had
no idea they were planning to offer him a contract.

Speaker 5 (14:50):
He was walking in to retire. But when we walked
in and.

Speaker 4 (14:52):
Said, okay, well before you say anything, hey, I got
something to say to you guys. All right, well before you,
you know, say anything, we were able to work things out, man,
And they slid a contract across the table and slid
a pin. He said he didn't mutter a word he
signed it. But he said he signed it knowing he
was done right.

Speaker 3 (15:08):
He didn't have it no more.

Speaker 4 (15:10):
He couldn't play anymore. He didn't want to do eighty
two games with training camp, with preseason, with possible two
or three rounds of a five first round back then
and then it's two seven game series to get to
the conference finals. And he didn't want to do it anymore.
But the simple fact that they put that contract on
the table, with those zeros behind it, he signed it
without saying anything. If they offer Travis some money, you

(15:31):
know what I say earlier. You don't turn down the money, man, No.

Speaker 3 (15:34):
But let me ask you this. You said it's not
about the money with Travis Kelsey, and I believe it.
There's he's gonna have enough money no matter what. Maybe
it's more about having an identity as an NFL player
because he's dating and gonna marry such a famous person.
Could that be it instead of just being him walking
away or saying yeah, because if he walks away, yeah,
he could do podcasts or whatever. But he's always gonna

(15:56):
be Taylor Swift's husband. You know what I'm saying. That's
always going to be like that.

Speaker 4 (16:01):
Yeah, yeah, I can't see. I can't speak to that
because some guys are okay with that.

Speaker 5 (16:07):
It's nothing.

Speaker 3 (16:07):
I'm not okay with it.

Speaker 4 (16:08):
But maybe you want to keep playing football for I'm
pretty sure asat Rocky's okay with being Rihanna's like maybe
daddy of her three kids.

Speaker 5 (16:16):
I'm pretty I.

Speaker 3 (16:16):
Don't know if Tom Brady was all okay about being show.

Speaker 5 (16:22):
Yeah, yeah, well think about it. Tom.

Speaker 4 (16:24):
Tom's a savage man. Tom's my guy. You know how
much I love Tom Brady. I love Tom Brady. But listen,
he literally did risk his marriage and family to go
back and play again. Like she it's out there. We're
not doing gossip radio, we're not doing rumors. It's out there.
He said it. She wanted him to retire, right, but
he had to just go back one more year. And
then to her it was like, okay, we see what's
more important to you then. But at that point for

(16:46):
him it was listen, I'm I'm sadistic with this stuff, man,
Like it's it's this is what I do. He said
it on radio when day goes. It's just something sadistic
about me. That's just got to go out, read a
defense and throw and throw f and spiral. It's just
what I It's hard to walk. Listen how the guy
calls the games. He's by far the best color guy
in the NFL right now.

Speaker 3 (17:05):
And I do love commercial. Hysterical, absolutely hysterical.

Speaker 5 (17:11):
Oh he's got it. He's he's got it. He's Tom Brady.

Speaker 3 (17:14):
What he does with the guy that learns to redefenses.
I forget the guy's name.

Speaker 4 (17:19):
That's actually no, no, no, actually that's Auto Graham. You're talking
about the kid with the freckles that's in the guy. Yeah, yeah, yeah,
all right.

Speaker 5 (17:26):
That's a friend of mine. His name is Auto Graham.

Speaker 4 (17:29):
He was named after well his grandfather didn't name after
the great Cleveland Brown players. That is a good friend
of mine. He used to do sports talk radio with
on blog Talk like and he left sports talk because
it just wasn't cashing over for it.

Speaker 3 (17:44):
And what is his name in the commercial? I can't remember.

Speaker 4 (17:46):
I forget, but I just love the way he's like,
you know see what I'm saying. He's like, because right here,
because if you've got the safety and you got the cover,
you got.

Speaker 2 (17:51):
The talk about.

Speaker 4 (17:52):
No, we don't know what you're talking about. And Tom
Brady goes, I know what you're talking about. The kind
of he goes, but he's free. He goes, well, no,
not really, and he grabs like three of them. That
guy with the front that's a good friend of mine.
His name is Auto graham Man. He listens to the
show to shut out Altough.

Speaker 5 (18:07):
That's my.

Speaker 4 (18:09):
I'm but I think Todd does a great job of
the commercials, but he does a better job being a
color commentary guy.

Speaker 3 (18:16):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (18:17):
He breaks the game down in a way that nobody
else because he's the goat, Like.

Speaker 5 (18:24):
Why wouldn't you listen to him?

Speaker 4 (18:25):
It's like I say, watching Major League Baseball, Let's get real,
do you not feel smart in the playoffs listening to
John Smokes?

Speaker 5 (18:31):
Are you kidding me? That man will tell.

Speaker 4 (18:34):
He's telling you the pitches that are coming.

Speaker 3 (18:36):
But with that being said, I get a little fed
up with all the people attacking Tony Romo now saying
how horrible he is. I don't let a color commentator
ruined my game, no matter why. I never you know,
I won't watch a game. I'm like, what did he say?
I can't believe it. You know, I'm too wrapped up
in the game.

Speaker 4 (18:54):
Why don't people like it's him? I hear this about
collins Worth. I've heard this about other people I like. Guys, Listen,
I don't know why you guys don't. I mean, what
did he say? Why don't you like him? I don't
get well, he actually like he played for kids. It's
Pat Mahomes, dude. Anybody's gonna talk good about Pat Mahomes.
He's the best quarterback in football. What it happened with Farv,
It happened with Brady, it happened with Rogers, it happened

(19:16):
with Ben, it happened with Manny, it happened with Marino,
it happened with Elway. Like this is not new, guys.
John Madden loved him some, Brett Farv loved him some.
Brett Fark. He's just an old He's just out there
playing backyard football having so much fun. And there were
some people like, oh my god, I hate with John
Matt But dude, he that's his guy. It's okay to
have a player you like and when you get the

(19:37):
call his game, give give, give the people what they
want to.

Speaker 2 (19:40):
Hear.

Speaker 5 (19:40):
Man, you you love the guy. He's great at what
he does.

Speaker 3 (19:42):
By the way, what did you think of all the
John Madden clips?

Speaker 4 (19:45):
They were I'm from the Madden era, you know that.
But I'm from the Madden era when it was called
Monday Night Football and it was only available on PC
before the game console started making them. John Madden's first
football game was called Monday Night Football and it was
only for computers on PC. So I go that far back.

(20:06):
Wow to Madden. Man.

Speaker 5 (20:07):
So you know, quick side story.

Speaker 4 (20:08):
I know we got to get the break first college
game I ever called, because you know John Madden with
the Cale Poly Saint Luis Obispo. Right. You know, I
wasn't aware of John Madden one of he want to coach, No, no, no,
he called games. One of his first kind of student
jobs there was calling the football games. And my first

(20:28):
College D one game was calling the game in the
same stadium, in same booth that John Madden worked in.
So that's like my little that's my only other than
that covering the game from the Dodgers and being able
to sit up where or Vince Gully sat and seeing
that that was kind of cool too.

Speaker 3 (20:43):
Yeah. All right, when we get back as we head
into week thirteen of the NFL, and I know it's
already started. What we know, what we've learned from the
other twelve weeks, We're gonna do that. That's coming up

so tune on in.

Speaker 4 (22:12):
Yeah, I'm gonna just toss it up to you all
night long.

Speaker 3 (22:14):
Yeah, exactly, father way, listen to this. Joe Burrow Real
Quick Okay has closed as an underdog of three points
or more twenty one times now. After tonight, he is
eighteen and three against the spread and thirteen and one
against the spread since twenty twenty one. Hey, that's crazy,

(22:36):
that's crazy.

Speaker 5 (22:36):
Listen. Does it say the guy's uber talented, the guy's great.

Speaker 4 (22:41):
We had a debate on here, Harmon and I did
Burrow or Herbert I mean this went on for like
three weeks. Yeah, and I'm just like, dude, just give
me the guy that's on the field. Listen right, Herbert's
always available. Burrow is in It is three years now,
of like five or four are scum me? Like five
or six miss games and rookie here he Blue to

(23:04):
Aco Blues. He missed like eight or nine. Get He's
always missing a chunk of games. And this is what
I don't like how we do in this business. Yes,
he beat Pat Mahoney straight up on his own field
and got to the super Bowl. Was five years ago.

Speaker 5 (23:16):
Man, We gotta eventually let some of this stuff go.

Speaker 4 (23:20):
Like, okay, bro, we know that he won there, they
won the game, but he can't stay on the field.
They can't get back to you know, they can't get
back and he's supposed to be that guy to do so.
So he's super talented, can make every throw, got a
little swag to him.

Speaker 5 (23:33):
Man.

Speaker 4 (23:34):
The one thing I will question him. And I don't
know if you watched this, but I remember asking you
about this. I think last time we did a show together,
Quarterback on Netflix Joe Burrow where they you can hear
everything guys getting miked up. I told you that's where
my respect for Pat Mahomes come from. I'm not a
Pat Mahomes fan, but I respect the living hell out
of him because I now have seen how he prepares

(23:55):
for the game, and the stuff he does is not luck.
He trains to throw off balance, standing on the bowsoue ball,
holding the dumb bell in one hand while tossing the
two and a half pound cannabell back and forth between
his due Yeah, dude, like on one leg, and he
does fifty raps and he does this for you know,
the four sets, and then he.

Speaker 5 (24:14):
Switches and does something it's not luck.

Speaker 4 (24:15):
So it makes a guy like me that played the
game go okay, man, I'll never say his luck again.
I respect the way he prepared. Still not a big
fan of yours, but cool Burrow. What I took from
him on quarterback is he's really a me guy. Because
Tom Brady made a comment about you know, and I
know you heard this where he said, you know, quarterback
is not a nine to five job. No, of course, right,

(24:37):
so it's not an okay, Well, I showed up and
I threw for my five thousand yards. Yeah, but what
did you do in the offseason, what'd you do for
the defense? Would you do for the meetings? Did you
show up early and tell the defense what kind of
schemes to show you in practice? And then and he
goes down this laundry list of things that he used
to do. Fine, coaches don't want to have a walk
through at eight o'clock. I don't give a bleep. We're
not waiting till ten. I call all fifty two of

(24:58):
the guys, tell him be at the stadium at eight
in the mo we'll do another walk through. The coaches like,
that's the type of stuff with it made Tom Tom
And when you hear him speak that way, and you
hear him saying, yeah, you just can't throw for five
thousand yards ago, Well, I did my part. I immediately
thought about Joe Burrow.

Speaker 3 (25:12):
Because you think it's too selfish.

Speaker 4 (25:14):
I think it's me, guy, I really do. I think
it's well I'm doing anytime Indiana. In football, when you
say I'm doing my job, that's one league that doesn't fly.
You can say it in baseball if you're the picture right,
and you go seven and the third, twelve strikeouts, two walks,
two runs, and then the bullpen comes and gives it

(25:34):
up like an ig thought the off Star Weekend four runs,
two home run and the picture could say I'm hell
gay seven and the third you couldn't hold down the
last one and a half in it. You can say that, right,
You can say that in baseball. In football, as a quarterback,
you are not allowed to God, man, what's going on
out there on the defense. And he's caught saying some

(25:55):
of these things, and that just to me is like wow, bro,
Like okay, what are you doing though you're throwing for
your yards, but what are you doing to bring the
team together? What type of camaraderie? What type of chemistry?
The quarterback is the undoubtable biggest leader in the world
of sports. Name one bigger right, No, you're right.

Speaker 3 (26:13):
I agree with you one hundred percent, there's no doubt,
matter of fact. Speaking about that and quarterbacks, that ties
into what I wanted to bring up as we're heading
in the work. Give me a little music, Alex, because
something I like to do on the weekend show is
as we head in the week thirteen, what have you learned?
And I want to talk I'm gonna make a complete
left turn from here and talk about somebody we haven't

(26:34):
talked about what I've learned, and I've learned this a
long time ago. But now that we're heading in the
week thirteen, when I know Kyler Murray, not only does
he need to leave the Arizona Cardinals. He could play,
he could play for another team, but he can't play
for Arizona. He needs to go, and he needs to

(26:56):
go right after the year. It's not gonna work out anymore,
but I do wish should the best. I know that
he can play, but he needs to work harder. You
talk about it's not a nine of the five job.
Remember when they found out that he was like, like's
the way video games?

Speaker 4 (27:11):
And I thought that was more important. No one said
it was more important. It's just like, all right, dude,
should he be logging as many hours? He probably shouldn't
have let that part out though, But I like this.

Speaker 5 (27:21):
This is dope. I like this, and I don't have
any notes on this. Ladies and jump boys and girl arn't.

Speaker 4 (27:25):
He is throwing this at me.

Speaker 3 (27:26):
So I'm just throwing it out. And you are gonna
give you Are you ready?

Speaker 5 (27:29):
Go ahead?

Speaker 2 (27:30):
You go?

Speaker 5 (27:30):
I got one very close to us.

Speaker 4 (27:32):
What I've learned this year is you don't need to
be out on him just yet, but the Miami Dolphins
need to rethink the quarterback position. I'm not saying cut
and lead and give it to it right now, but
to you, somehow, some way can get you a bigger,
more you know, statutus type guy back there. Okay, So

(27:55):
it just he's been banged up with the with the
with the concussions. I think it's messing with his reaction time.
I looked up some research on this, so people didn't
think that it was being insensitive.

Speaker 5 (28:04):
No, this is real stuff.

Speaker 4 (28:05):
And as a quarterback, you gotta be fast, and he
looks slower as time goes on.

Speaker 5 (28:11):
He had four concussions.

Speaker 4 (28:13):
What I've learned this year as an avid, lifelong Dolphin fan,
you don't got to trade him and get rid of
him now, but this offseason the Dolphins need to have
another plan for down the line, for the QB position.

Speaker 3 (28:25):
It's tough because he makes so much money. It's gould
begin to happen. But you know what, he there was
a stot out. I can't remember the stat but only
three other quarterbacks in football history did it. And now
to a joins that list, I know.

Speaker 5 (28:39):
What you're talking about one hundred one hundred.

Speaker 4 (28:41):
Are r Q.

Speaker 3 (28:43):
Yeah the hundred ranking or something.

Speaker 4 (28:44):
Yeah, which is great, But how many playoff wins and
success has it?

Speaker 3 (28:49):
Is it to his fault? It's always out to his fault.

Speaker 4 (28:51):
It doesn't matter. That's not how we look at things.
Let's just be honest. That's not how we view things.
It's no, it's not. But at the end of the day,
the quarterback gets the off and the quarterback gets the shove.

Speaker 3 (29:02):
All right, all right, I'll tell you what. I'll give
you another one heading in the week thirteen. I know this.
You guys don't know this.

Speaker 2 (29:08):
Oo.

Speaker 3 (29:09):
You guys don't know this, Okay, because yeah, you put
him in the Hall of Fame. Last year he said
he was the best thing since sliced bread. Everybody was
drooling over this guy. Matter of fact, I was drooling
over him. Now I got to give him the CJ.
Stroud Award because CJ. Stroud used to be really good.
Now he backed up. We got to pump the brakes

(29:30):
on jayde Daniels. Oh my goodness. Last year he could
do no wrong. This year with injuries and didn't have
a good year. He's got a long way to go.
All this. I love you, and I'm putting you in
the Hall of Fame, and you're gonna take us to
the super Bowl and Washington they're gonna win the division.
They're gonna fight Philadelphia. Didn't work out there, didn't work

(29:54):
out for him. Do you like Daniels?

Speaker 5 (29:58):
I mean last year, did I like Daniels?

Speaker 3 (30:01):
Yeah?

Speaker 5 (30:01):
I wasn't. I wasn't. I was fifty to fifty on.

Speaker 3 (30:03):
Them last year. Everybody loved them, I know, And.

Speaker 4 (30:06):
I thought last year I thought it was a lot
of I thought that was very premature, just like last
year people that were out on Kayleb Williams, out on
Drake May, I thought was premature.

Speaker 5 (30:14):
Now I wasn't in or out on any rookie quarterback.

Speaker 4 (30:17):
Jj I got a soft hard for it because he
won me a national championship in fifteen to no Michigan.

Speaker 3 (30:21):
So that's right.

Speaker 4 (30:21):
But I can also admit, if I'm Minnesota, I probably
set him down this year for the rest of the year.

Speaker 5 (30:26):
Something's not something's not clicking there.

Speaker 4 (30:28):
But I will say this, we do need to start
having well you know what, I'll let that segue into
my what I found out this year. What I found
out this year is that Kevin O'Connell is not a
quarterback whisper.

Speaker 5 (30:42):
He's just not.

Speaker 4 (30:43):
People wanted Kurtin Cousins out of there for like three
straight years. Right wrong. Okay, when you got Justin Jefferson,
they had a great lion. They draft Derrinshaw. You bring in,
you bring in Flores hit. That Florest defense has been
number one and blitz win rate over the last two
and a half seasons. That's a big helper for your offense.

Speaker 5 (31:03):
Because if you're blinting, you know what else you're doing.

Speaker 4 (31:05):
Calls the turnovers top ten the last three years in
turnover differential to Minnesota Vikings. You're giving your offense more possessions.
Same thing we're seeing with the Chicago Bears this year,
helping out Kayleb Williams by getting them more possessions.

Speaker 5 (31:17):
They lead the league in turnovers this year.

Speaker 4 (31:20):
What I learned this year is we need to start
having some damn conversation about Kevin o'can and stop letting
this guy skate by and blaming his quarterbacks. We need
to start that in that convererence I found out out
this year.

Speaker 3 (31:32):
One thing I learned about heading in the week thirteen
is something you didn't find out yet, but you'll learn.
You'll learn. JJ McCarthy can't play. I'm sorry, man, I'm sorry.
It is dunezo for him. He's putting. His numbers are
so low it's like lower than Blutarski's GPA and aamah.

Speaker 4 (31:52):
Y'all said that about Kayla Williams last year too. Oh
but it's bad, but he didn't. Look, he doesn't have
the hype that Caleb will hype.

Speaker 5 (32:01):
I no, he doesn't have the hype.

Speaker 4 (32:02):
But he's also not gonna make no excuses off. I
made my statement about the guy. Everybody knows how I
feel about him. He's my guy. But I'm real enough
as a as a as a sports analyst to say, look,
it's not working right now. Doesn't mean what it is work,
but let's let's let's revisit some other factors around him.

Speaker 5 (32:19):
Also too.

Speaker 4 (32:20):
Something else that I learned this year. Yeah, Dan Campbell
isn't that great of a coach?

Speaker 3 (32:27):
Oh?

Speaker 4 (32:27):
Oh, no, Dan campbells No, No, Dan Campbell isn't that
great of a coach.

Speaker 5 (32:35):
What Dan Campbell is?

Speaker 4 (32:37):
He motivated, He's a great motivator of other grown ass men.

Speaker 5 (32:43):
And that's not a bad thing people. I'm not saying that.

Speaker 4 (32:46):
He can't coach. He's just not the coach that people
were making him out to be. Ben Johnson, who just
left that team, is doing what with Chicago with a
team with the quarterback I just mentioned who we all
rode off just a year ago. Kayler Willis was overrated.
Kayler Winis wasn't gonna do this and do that. I
don't care who they played. They're eight and three, their

(33:09):
first place, they're tied with the Packers.

Speaker 5 (33:10):
The Packers have to tie. But this is weird with
this team too.

Speaker 4 (33:14):
Do you know they're the only first place team in
any division with a minus point different the minus three
but then one four in a row, but they're four
to two in the row. The one and two in
the division is gonna hurt them, but five and two
in the conference is gonna help them out. Is when
they start to see things if they don't win the division.
As far as the wild car goes. But the one
thing that I learned this year by wee twelve, Dan

(33:36):
Campbell put the glasses on calling plays the last two
three weeks.

Speaker 5 (33:40):
How's that offense looked? Dan Campbell calling the plays?

Speaker 4 (33:43):
Maybe not a great coach, great motivator, but let's pump
the brakes on a great coach.

Speaker 3 (33:48):
Well, they've got injuries to a We're all in the
basis by this every game has injuries.

Speaker 5 (33:52):
I don't want to hear that the Dolphins.

Speaker 4 (33:54):
The Dolphins lost the most two have lost the most
explosive receiver in the league in like week three weeks, Like,
come on, this stuff happens, man. Cincinnati lost their quarterback.
Ravens lost their quarterback. I gave you another really cool
stat right now. You know I many backups had to
start this year so far. Oh, I've been bringing this up.
You need a two quarterbacks from now, but I'm gonna
backup seventeen Wow, more than half.

Speaker 5 (34:16):
Wow. Damn league has had to back you start.

Speaker 3 (34:20):
I fight with time. Yeah yeah, yeah, I say now
you need two quarterbacks.

Speaker 4 (34:25):
You do, but there's not enough to go around. You know,
all thirty two teams don't have one good one.

Speaker 3 (34:30):
Yeah. Heading into this week, I know this. This is
the perhaps worst week of NFL football that I've ever
seen in my life. What oh yeah, I look at
the Oh they are horrible, I mean horrible. This isn't Jaguars, Titans, Oh, Saints, Dolphins, Falcons, Jets, Cardinals, Buccaneers.

(34:59):
I mean, geez, you're talking about some real dog.

Speaker 4 (35:02):
Games, fighting, the fighting Jacobe Prissetts against whoever the backup is.
Because Baker Mayfield is out of it. No, this okay,
so I'll do We'll do, good cop, bad cop. No,
this is a great weekend. Okay, why yes? Because you
got Rams Panthers. Rams are flying high right, could be
the best team in the league. We saw that defense
for Carolina's starting to look like bright hung played a

(35:24):
pretty good defense, even though I know they're missing some
guys over there, namingly one, Fred Warner, the middle linebacker position,
one of the best in league. I get all of that,
but then you have the Falcons and the Jets. Hey
Kirk Cousins, he could be still fighting for a job
for next year if he gets out of there. Pennix
is done for the year. They're Titans and Jacks. This
is a perfect catch game for the Jacks. Titians have
been playing tough, man. I know they're bad, but they're

(35:45):
not just getting beat every week.

Speaker 2 (35:47):
Some games.

Speaker 4 (35:47):
They're fighting to the end, fighting to the end. They
should have won it the Texans.

Speaker 3 (35:51):
If I didn't have a show I'd be watching the
Law and Order and also shit Doors, Doors back against
the Nerves this.

Speaker 5 (35:58):
Week, watch those Browns.

Speaker 3 (36:01):
We're gonna come back. We'll have picks before we get
out of here. That's coming up next right here on
Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 2 (36:08):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Jason Smith
Show with Mike Harmon weekdays at ten pm Eastern, seven
pm Pacific.

Speaker 3 (36:15):
All Right, we gotta thank the crew tonight, thanks to
Alex and Jaye producing the show tonight. Of course, thanks
to Jason Smith and Mike Harmon for allowing VJ and
I to do the show work, and thanks to Martin
White's with the updates. We're back tomorrow, VJ ten pm
to two am.

Speaker 5 (36:33):
Eastern, and shout out to the crew.

Speaker 4 (36:35):
Like you said, man, Shane, Shane, Alex, if you want
to honestly say, and they know I mean what I'm saying,
can I work with these guys enough. You want to
do a show and have more fun doing commercial breaks
and more in depth life changing conversations, then work with Shane. Allie,
you hear that, Arnie, I get I don't hear that, Arnie. Yeah,
I don't work with Come on, work with Shane and
Alice and I tell you, and I tell you. Let

(36:57):
me tell you something, man, It'll change your life. You'll
learn some stuff. You'll learn some stuff. Gotta come to la.

Speaker 3 (37:02):
That's right. Why is Ben Mallor working next? So? I think,
why is he not taking any time off during the holidays?
I don't understand.

Speaker 5 (37:08):
I hope he got this cookies.

Speaker 3 (37:10):
Yeah, he should be bringing food that he makes these Christmas.

Speaker 4 (37:14):
He actually makes some really good Christmas cookies. I had
him the last two years. They were they were really good.
And I'm picking about cookies.

Speaker 3 (37:19):
Nice.

Speaker 4 (37:19):
He makes a good Christmas cookie.

Speaker 3 (37:21):
Man. I get games tomorrow. Just some predictions. Bears, Eagles,
Eagles a seven point favorite. I can't take the Eagles
at this point right now, after what they've looked like.
I'm gonna have to bounce back and take the Bears
plus to seven this one. How do you see this game? VJ?

Speaker 4 (37:39):
What do you think that's a good one? Man? See
the Eagles normally bounce back. You know what I'm saying. Listen,
they're up twenty one nothing in that game. They're beating
Dallas's ass. I listen, get props to Dallas, but also too,
I think, say Kwan got ran into the ground last year,
and I thought people thought he would have bounced back
by now.

Speaker 5 (38:00):
And it's just not.

Speaker 3 (38:01):
The's been a horrible it's just not there.

Speaker 5 (38:03):
And it's not that too.

Speaker 4 (38:05):
And there's something going on with the play calling on
the offensive side of the ball. There there's a lot
going on, but I'm tired of hearing Jalen Hurts get
blamed for it. That's what's starting to really irk me.
As if they don't have other people make mistakes. AJ Brown,
who I don't dislike as much as everybody else does.
But you know, bro, you might want to just focus
on football a little bit. They have all the weapons,

(38:26):
they have all the pieces, they're defending Super Bowl champions.
They could be on a cruise control right now and figure, hey, hell,
we've done this, We've done this, we know how to
get this done. We've been to two of the last three.
This is just a blipping a roll to us. When
it matters the most will will be ay. So that said,
what is it seven and a half tomorrow?

Speaker 3 (38:48):
Seven? I believe it's seven seven right now?

Speaker 4 (38:53):
Was it that Philly I Philly cint Philly seven in
Philly with that turnover pro defense and no, give me
Bears the cover, but Phillys gotta take the boys Old
Bess cover. Yeah, Bears cover, Bears cover, but Philly.

Speaker 3 (39:05):
Wins Old Miss and Mississippi State one. Is there a
chance at the upset? It is the egg Bowl?

Speaker 2 (39:11):
Two?

Speaker 3 (39:11):
Are we gonna find out about Lane Kiffin tomorrow?

Speaker 4 (39:13):
What's the spread?

Speaker 3 (39:14):
Seven and a half and opened up in five and
a half, I believe earlier in the week now been
bet up to seven and a half. I kind of
like Old miss out lay the points in this one.

Speaker 4 (39:24):
What do you think, man, they're gonna blow the doors
off of Mississippi or oh man, they're gonna blow the
doors off. Lane is not punting. The punter is staying
in the door.

Speaker 5 (39:33):
It's easy. We going for it all dabouts is the
last game? Whatever? What listen?

Speaker 2 (39:37):
Man?

Speaker 4 (39:37):
Was his last game there? He's gonna play, you know,
and then they should be a college football They could
be in the playoff. You know, we'll see how everything
shakes out. I got them winning by double digits. He's
gonna show out tomorrow. This is his swan song, goodbye
to to the fans. As far as playing in the
state of Mississippi, I give you.

Speaker 3 (39:53):
Michigan Ohio State while we still have time. They'll go
ahead and give me that one.

Speaker 4 (39:56):
Michigan covers and wins. Take Michigan straight up many eighteen.

Speaker 3 (40:01):
Why you're saying that as a homer, you know twenty
to eighteen Sharon Wore is a better coach. He's he
beat him last year and the shoe this same office
was held to ten points.

Speaker 5 (40:09):
Guys, do we not remember that?

Speaker 4 (40:11):
Listen? This game is different. Ohio State had looked great.
They can't run the football. That told you they got
pretty man.

Speaker 5 (40:17):
They throw it around. Now they don't. They don't really know.

Speaker 3 (40:20):
How stayed eleven and all. I'm just checking out.

Speaker 4 (40:21):
Yeah, they sure eleven and one after eleven and one
