Speaker 1 (00:00):
Ladies and Jules.

Speaker 2 (00:01):
You want experience during your football season, well buckle up,
sweet cheeks. What we've got all the experience in the world.
This is I want your Flex with Dan Bayer and
Mike Harmon. Mike and Dan break down everything you need
to set your lineups, from position rankings.

Speaker 3 (00:22):
To starts and sits.

Speaker 2 (00:24):
The guys help you make those hard decisions. And now
let's get your flex sod here's Dan Bayer and Mike Harmon.

Speaker 4 (00:33):
All right, if you're listening to this, you've probably made
it pretty far in your fantasy league and maybe on
the verge of entering a championship game. Congratulations to you.
It is I want your Flex like we are getting
down to the end. He is Mike Harmon. Hit him
up at Swollen Dome, find me at Dan Bayer on Fox,
and you can find Ian Roddy at Dean Roddy Underscore.

(00:53):
And if you listen just because you love the podcast,
we love you that much more.

Speaker 1 (00:57):
But let's be real, we have called it winning time. Boy.
There were some matchups.

Speaker 4 (01:02):
I don't know if the NFL we have problems with
the schedule, Mike, but the NFL set up certain matchups
for week sixteen, and we got more points than we
could handle in certain contests.

Speaker 5 (01:10):
Yeah, just absolute insanity across the board. Capping it with
a five touchdown performance from Brock Purdy, who really could
kind of do whatever he wanted against that Indianapolis defense.
We saw some of the same. I mean Philip Rivers
quarterback thirteen for the week. Unfortunately you had that pick
six at the end. Otherwise he would have been QB
eleven's good job, right, and I mean just insane right

(01:35):
coming up on the board, and then he had that
miss to Warren that would have been another touchdown. So
ifs and bots, candies and nuts. Trevor Lawrence continued his greatness.
Thought he was running up against Denver. Didn't trust it here,
I was wrong, But justin Herbert gave you a big
fantasy performance. If you trusted him, he paid off. Joe

(01:56):
Burrow responded from that anemic, pathetic week fifteen teen, outing
with a twenty nine point performance. Did you have the
guts to start him? That is the question right based
on the down in the mouth. But yeah, just across
the board, some absolute chaos and it's good, right, especially
in those primetime games which have been let's call it

(02:16):
what it is. There have been some dogs with fleas
over the last couple of weeks, so to get the
thriller like we had, even though there weren't a lot
of points, but overtime Chicago in Green Bay and some
of the other fireworks that we got, Jalen Hurts actually
using his legs and Saquon Barkley scoring before he sat down.
Ashton Genty, if you had the guts to start him,

(02:39):
please let me know at Swollen Dome. I'd love to know.

Speaker 3 (02:42):
If he was.

Speaker 5 (02:43):
And I'm not just talking a flex position. I'm talking
an RB one or RB two. If you had the
guts to start and please let me know, I will
send you a trading card or if nothing else, just
a hardy hello, because I mean just absolutely insane. But
I guess the thing I would say is, outside of Genty,
who is the top running back in standard leagues and

(03:06):
when we get into the half points across the league, yeah,
he still finishes first, just ahead of Chase Brown, is
that we did have a lot of the usual suspects
show up big for us in a playoff week, which
for fantasy purposes, we know that has not been the
case of consistency has not been our friend, which is
great for the podcast, but certainly in navigating the fantasy

(03:27):
waters has been really choppy all year.

Speaker 4 (03:29):
Well, the funny thing is is, if you've listened to
this podcast, you know that Ashton genty has been a
topic of conversation because of a trade that I did
earlier on in the season in my long time league.
And I think that the pieces in this trade are
so interesting because I told you guys, throughout the year,
I lamented on how bad of a trade it was

(03:52):
because my central piece that I got in it was
Justin Jefferson, and we all know how bad it's been
for Justin Jefferson. It has been well documented. The other
pieces that I got were a banged up Chuba Hubbard
who came back too soon from his injury, and Romandre
Stevenson who went down with an injury and then came
back to have Trevianna Henderson now in a workload split

(04:14):
in the Patriots backfield after Henderson had those big runs
against Tampa.

Speaker 1 (04:18):
So my value on in that deal was not good.

Speaker 4 (04:23):
However, guys, I gave up Rashi Rice, I gave up
Davante Adams, and I gave up Ashton Genty, who I
did not believe in, So I was two for two
with Rice and Adams for playoff. Wise, of those guys
weren't even available neither played in Week sixteen, But Ashton
Genty coming through when it matters the most then makes

(04:44):
me wonder maybe I never should have done that trade.
So like leading into the week guys and seeing all
Rashie Rice isn't playing against the Titans and Devanta Adams
was out against the Seahawks on Thursday night, I'm like, geez,
I wouldn't have had any of those guys. Genty ends
up being the reason on why I should have done
the trade. The funny thing is if I would have

(05:05):
played Ramandre Stevenson overt Trevon Henderson, who I did also have,
I could have won my game. Nots ifs and bots
in you know, candy and nuts and the whole deal.
But the trade that I've always talked about throughout this season,
that's how it ultimately bit me in the butt is
I didn't believe in Ashton Genty and in Week sixteen,
if you would have been on my team, he sure
could have helped.

Speaker 5 (05:25):
Yeah, But like the extra taco or cheeseburger or half
order of fries that you steal from your kid or
whatever else. I mean, it's or the relationship back in
the day, it's like, well, if I'd done that this
the other it's like it's gone, it's done. Yeah, there's
nothing you can do. And so this one you just go, hey,
he showed up in week sixteen. Who the hell would

(05:46):
have seen that coming?

Speaker 4 (05:47):
Well, And the reason that I bring it up is
if you look at what Genty has done, and you
look at what he's done over the last month.

Speaker 1 (05:55):
Fifty yards.

Speaker 4 (05:56):
This is just his rushing stats, thirty one yards, thirty yards,
five yards, and then then you're facing the Texans. To
Mike's point, and let's also be real, if you had
shares of Ashton Genty, your team probably wasn't great this season.
So you may not even have made it to week
sixteen because you were playing Ashton Genty.

Speaker 5 (06:15):
Because drafted what top seven, top ten for most eighth overall.

Speaker 1 (06:20):
I got them at eight overall in our league.

Speaker 4 (06:24):
And then the receiving sets, he was at least getting
some catches and that ends up being his only reception
against the Texans was the.

Speaker 1 (06:32):
Sixty yard or so there's just no way that you can.

Speaker 4 (06:35):
You can like Ashton Genty is going to be a
story in leagues for years to come because somebody decided
to play him to Mike's point and ended up bringing
them Fantasy gold.

Speaker 3 (06:47):
The mutant world of fantasy football. We love it, tuly Is.

Speaker 5 (06:50):
We love the chaos, but it will bite you in
the ass.

Speaker 4 (06:54):
Well, let's let's also just tackle the elephant in the
room here, because I think many people got burned by
Trevion Henderson, none more so than Mike Harmon, who in
the Guillotine League not only lost Trevion Henderson, he loses
George Kittle to that ankle injury after Kittle was shredding
the Colts on Monday Night Football. And so I, at
Mike's expense, advanced in our Fox Sports Radio Guillotine League.

(07:17):
But I'd have to imagine is I had Traveon Henderson
in my longtime league and others.

Speaker 1 (07:22):
Did as well.

Speaker 4 (07:23):
If you had Trevion Henderson, he put you in a
bad spot with that head injury on Sunday night.

Speaker 3 (07:28):
Yeah, very difficult spot.

Speaker 5 (07:30):
Not that I was looking for a max you know,
ceiling kind of situation, right, because Stevenson is still there
to siphon off some of the touches, but the fact
that it becomes a non starter, right and in the
Guillotine League, right to because I think some folks might
have had similar circumstance. Right. One of the guys we
spotlighted on the podcast, and it wasn't Bear's fandom. Like, look,

(07:54):
if the guy's going to score twenty points, he's going
to score twenty points better in my line than on
my bench.

Speaker 3 (07:59):
Right.

Speaker 5 (08:00):
I know what the Bears defense was, But Josh Jacobs
was a true game time decision, Jay Glazer, everybody else.
That's the reporting for Saturday nights game against Chicago. So
I sat him and put in Henderson. Now Jacobs ends
up having a more sizable workload twelve carries when I

(08:23):
think fourteen touches total. I still would have I would
have still lost to you, but I would have lost
by point one point five or something like it.

Speaker 3 (08:32):
Like it was a negatible.

Speaker 5 (08:33):
I looked at it for a minute kind of went huh,
that's interesting, and then I shut it down again. It's well,
you know, the the ifs and butts of it all,
but it's just that scenario if you're just hoping and wishing,
not that he's gonna have, you know, a solid four
yards of carry, just you're gonna get one explosive play
that's gonna put you over, not even needing the touchdown,

(08:55):
just saying hey, I'll get one or two twenty yard
runs out of this broken play.

Speaker 3 (09:00):
Or a slip screen or whatever it is.

Speaker 5 (09:03):
And instead he's out with the head injury early and
that game got wild. Wow, that was an insane game.
Lots of questions there in Baltimore, but a great game
for Derrick Henry until the final twelve fifty three when
he didn't give you any more. Stats man, how would
you feel there? I mean, you got a great game,

(09:24):
so you're like, oh, that's huge. Yeah, but then he
doesn't see the ball.

Speaker 4 (09:29):
That's the that's I don't know how you guys watch
fantasy like watch these games in Fantasy mode, but when
you are locked in, like to Mike's point, you kind
of see how the game changes, in the game evolves,
and all of a sudden you realize like you had
something in the bag, and all of a sudden it say,
like wait a second year, something's not right. This isn't happening.

(09:51):
Why in all of these events end up playing out
in the way that you feared. And I feel like
their situations like that that just in that game, and
mentioning the Trevion Henderson injury, there are people who had
Drake May that benefited because now the Patriots running game
is running at half capacity because you have no Trevion Anderson,

(10:12):
so you rely on Ramandre Stevenson. But Drake May ends
up throwing it all over the yard and helps lead
that comeback. So so many domino effects from certain situations.

Speaker 5 (10:20):
Yeah, just a wild week across the board. As you
let off with, I mean, we got we got points,
so plenty of plenty of fantasy points to be had,
just a question of did they get distributed.

Speaker 3 (10:32):
To your squads right?

Speaker 5 (10:35):
And I can say with without hesitation, including a couple
of last minute deactivations for players when I was no
longer near my phone, they all went against me, Dan,
But you know what, you're the beneficiary and now you
have to go defeat. Former producer of the podcast, Ryan Berschinge.

Speaker 4 (10:52):
I think I've got a tall task. I don't know
if a team can can match up.

Speaker 1 (10:56):
I'll tell you what. We've got.

Speaker 4 (10:57):
Another guy on this podcast, Ian Roddy, is in a
championship league. And we were talking before the pod and
Ian was breaking it down and this is kind of
a family league, right, Ian, this is the family So.

Speaker 6 (11:09):
Well, I'm actually I'm in I'm in the championship in
in a league that that I that's very serious with
a decent buy in.

Speaker 4 (11:15):
Okay, So you're in two championship which the ones the
two week right exactly?

Speaker 1 (11:20):
Okay.

Speaker 6 (11:20):
So the other the confusion was last week. If you
guys remember on last week's pod, I had said that
I had uh uh, I had a week one bye all,
I had a bye week a first round by. That's
why I meant to say a first round by in
one league. And that's the one that I take seriously,
and that's I'm in the championship now. And I said
that I'd gone oh for four in the other ones.
But it turns out that I actually survived one of

(11:42):
those because one of them was actually a two week
long match Okay, So I'm still alive in that one
and I actually ended up winning the matchups. So and
that and that's in my girlfriend's family league, so that
one is less less serious, you know, like you know,
everyone in there's a ball noer and stuff, but it's
still you know, it's a champion, it's a championship, But
the other one I definitely am sweating over more.

Speaker 4 (12:05):
This is why I bring it up because it's girlfriend.
It's not yet fiance, correct correct? Okay, so it's girlfriend's family,
but by the sounds of it, you're very comfortable being
around her family.

Speaker 6 (12:20):
Yes, correct.

Speaker 4 (12:22):
Let me ask you this, Mike, because I'm pondering this
as well. Better for Ian to win the league because
he's in sports and the family looks at him as
someone is like, man, that guy knows his stuff. Or
better to bow out to curry favor with the family.

Speaker 1 (12:41):
What say you?

Speaker 6 (12:42):
This is an important question because this is going to
determine how I go about this, because I do I
throw it?

Speaker 1 (12:48):
Yes?

Speaker 4 (12:48):
Right, Like, if Ian wins the league, is he now
the a hole that came into the family and stole
the league championship?

Speaker 1 (12:56):
Right?

Speaker 4 (12:56):
And hecky works at Fox Sports Radio, so of course
he has an advantage. It's like, why did you bring
this ringer into the family? Right then?

Speaker 6 (13:04):
But then if I don't win, it's like don't you
work in sports?

Speaker 1 (13:06):
Well?

Speaker 3 (13:06):
But that's that's I mean, that's.

Speaker 1 (13:08):
The hard part right, there's some innocence to it.

Speaker 3 (13:11):
Yeah, no, you're you're in a difficult spot.

Speaker 5 (13:13):
Who are you playing In the title again, it's it's
my girlfriend's brother, her brother, and he knows his stuff,
so you know it's a I could feasibly Yeah, I mean, look,
if it was dad or their uncle or something, then
then maybe you know, you take a dive.

Speaker 3 (13:29):
Like we're we're putting on a sham boxing promotion. But
it's it's a brother, I think because he's gonna talk.

Speaker 4 (13:36):
You think so, the reason being, it just dawned on
me and I'm sorry to interrupt. You're gonna be looked
at as the good loser, right like like there there's
gonna be so much favor curried to you for losing, Like, man,
look at look at it. Well Ian took that Like
Ian was just in strike. Like, this guy's a cool dude.
He didn't get mad. He's totally good for our daughter. Like,

(13:58):
this is the guy that we want in our family.
He didn't go around peacocky when he had an early lead.
This is he took his loss with grace and humility.

Speaker 6 (14:09):
Great intel.

Speaker 1 (14:10):
Yeah, I think I think you need to lose.

Speaker 5 (14:12):
See, I think you lose and you flip tables and
you're pissed and you create a ruckus.

Speaker 6 (14:19):
You got a complete opposite message.

Speaker 5 (14:21):
Same not Wow, I trust that guy with my life. Look,
he'll defend our daughter.

Speaker 6 (14:27):
Yeah, but no, I think the fact that I'm at
least in the championship is it covers the base of like,
don't you work in sports? You know I'm in the championship.
So now if I lose, it's it's okay that I don't.
I don't know. I'm not gonna not gonna purposely lose
either way.

Speaker 4 (14:42):
But if you went three and eleven, they would look
down on you.

Speaker 1 (14:47):
Yeah, it would say this guy can't even get that right.

Speaker 5 (14:49):
Yeah, See, you're almost in a no win even competing. Yeah,
because if it goes badly, then it's like, all right,
this guy isn't I mean.

Speaker 1 (14:59):
I think he he found his pocket. I don't know.

Speaker 3 (15:01):
That's just nice sweet spot right there.

Speaker 1 (15:04):
Yeah.

Speaker 6 (15:04):
I think I'm with you, Dan, I think I'm in
a good spot here.

Speaker 1 (15:08):
Knock that on.

Speaker 4 (15:10):
All right, So if you're in any family leagues, maybe
it's better that you don't win it.

Speaker 1 (15:16):
If it's dealing with in laws and others. That's the thing.

Speaker 4 (15:19):
If it was your own family, Ian, just go and
win the thing, right, But if it's girl, if it's
girlfriend's family, I think you're in a little bit of
a different situation.

Speaker 5 (15:27):
Oh the full on ted Lasso, Let's go win the
whole bleeping thing.

Speaker 1 (15:32):
All right.

Speaker 4 (15:32):
We're gonna take a look more in depth at week
sixteen outside of what Ashton genty did and so much more.
Hit Mike up at Swollen Dome, find Ian at Ian
Roddy Underscore.

Speaker 1 (15:42):
You can find me at dan Byer on Fox. Plus.
We've got a report cards to do. And yeah, it's
championship a week.

Speaker 4 (15:47):
Michael, have some waiver wires if you're a league allows
it four week seventeen that's coming up later on right here,
And I want.

Speaker 1 (15:53):
Your flex it is I want your flex.

Speaker 4 (15:57):
You can find me at dan Byer on five, find
Mike at Swellen Dom and find Ian Roddy at Ian
Roddy Underscore. All right, Mike, it was a long week sixteen,
Rams and Seahawks felt like they played a week ago.
What stood out for you with what was a crazy
week in a semi final week in a lot of
fantasy leagues, I.

Speaker 3 (16:14):
Think where we found some value is number two.

Speaker 5 (16:18):
Receivers came up big and some guys you would not
have expected. So this was the truly if you took
a flyer at your third wide receiver or in the
flex position, you were rewarded guys like Alec Pierce on
the Monday Night Game, guys like Quentin Johnston, topsy turvy,
but a good matchup, good opportunity came through big Stefan Diggs,

(16:42):
Zay Flowers. Except for the fumble, he still gave you
a really good, strong game over the.

Speaker 3 (16:49):
Course of the day.

Speaker 5 (16:50):
So I would say from a receiver standpoint, that's what
stood out. The running backs, we had most of our
usual suspects there. Here was our and we talked about
it on Friday's podcast, The Kenneth Walker Breakthrough Game, where
he finally finishes as a top ten for you, whether
again whether you had the guts to start him or not,

(17:11):
I think he still should have been in the top
twenty four as far as RB ones and twos, but
beyond that, Jamiir Gibbs and be remiss if I didn't
mention him right seven carries, two yards, and if you
stopped reading the box score and you hadn't seen the game.
At that point, your heart probably sank.

Speaker 4 (17:29):
Yeah, the receptions and stuff saved the day, but it
was a no go on the ground.

Speaker 5 (17:35):
What did they have like twenty five yards on like
or something like that. As a team, he and Montgomery
did a whole lot of nothing but ten catches out
of the backfield.

Speaker 3 (17:45):
Tadah, you got yourself some love.

Speaker 5 (17:48):
So so that was great to see, you know, And
because we'd seen the on again, off again, right, it
was binary code except with threes instead of ones.

Speaker 3 (17:58):
Three zero three zero three.

Speaker 5 (18:00):
Zero, And then going back to the quarterbacks really fast
is that you did have a lot of our usual
heavyweights finished strongly for you, which is great, except for
Josh Allen.

Speaker 4 (18:14):
That was that was a crazy one because you knew
Cleveland was gonna have a formidable defense. However, what happened
to Cleveland the week before, You're like, well, Josh Allen's
going to be able to make some hay with that.
Plus the Bills sure seemed to be rolling prior to that,
and then the ground game comes through. I knew Josh

(18:36):
Allen owners were really gonna be mad when Ty Johnson
scored the touchdown, Like you can live with James Cook,
like It may not make you happy, but you could
be like, Okay, what are we gonna do. Guy breaks
off forty eight yard touchdown run. But when you had
the goal line in those situations, are Red Zoner inside
the five yard line and they're running some hurry up

(18:58):
which you know the ki Alan completely thrives in. When
Johnson scored the touchdown, I'm like, uh oh, Josh Allen
owners are not going to be happy.

Speaker 5 (19:07):
Yeah, That's that's the one that stood out. I mean,
obviously there were some other, you know, maybe sleeper kind
of operations that came out to the fact that Josh
Johnson was back on a football field.

Speaker 1 (19:17):
Hey, welcome back.

Speaker 3 (19:19):
But the thing that wouldn't leave, and this.

Speaker 4 (19:23):
Is like it is like his third stint with the Commanders.
I'm not even sure, but I know it's not it's
not like a new team to add.

Speaker 5 (19:28):
To the lest Yeah, we were going through it, right,
because if you just go to his stats, he's only
got stats with I think nine different teams, but he's
been a part of fourteen, so a lot of practice
squad activation but not playing kind of situations in the.

Speaker 6 (19:43):
Past if he were to obviously it's it's it's not
going to happen, because it's only fourteen, that's not even
half the league yet. But just say he were to
somehow be a part of every single NFL franchise, with
that alone warrant putting him in the Hall of Fame.

Speaker 3 (19:57):
The fact that he was wanted that much.

Speaker 6 (20:00):
He's the only player to ever be on every single
NFL franchise at some point in his career.

Speaker 4 (20:06):
I'll tell you this much, and you guys know this,
but listeners of the pod may not know it. My
favorite all time athlete growing up and still to this day.
He's not obviously playing anymore, and everybody knows him now
for his media work is Jim Jackson. And Jim Jackson
was an All American at Ohio State for two years

(20:27):
at Ohio State Big Ten Freshman of the Year prior
to that, it was the fourth overall pick in the
nineteen ninety two NBA draft. Now I say that for
Ian's sake, because Ian wasn't born until two thousand. The
reason I bring it up is Jim Jackson was a
heck of an NBA player. His NBA career didn't end
until two thousand and six, but Jim Jackson played for

(20:49):
a lot of teams, and by a lot of teams,
I mean twelve teams in the NBA, and as a
fan of his, wherever he went, that's the team I'm following.

Speaker 1 (20:57):
After a while, it kind of got to be like,
all right, this a little tough. What are we doing here?

Speaker 5 (21:04):
By former Ti Dan. You've done shows with Jim. I
did shows with Jim. He was always great. Now we
watch it like we launched a superstar in the media world.

Speaker 4 (21:14):
You and I absolutely But the thing that I always
said to what you're saying about Josh Johnson is people
wanted him.

Speaker 1 (21:21):
There was value.

Speaker 4 (21:23):
The guys that weren't that good would have just ended
up not playing in the league anymore.

Speaker 1 (21:28):
They would have gone overseas if they would have retired.
But he stuck around.

Speaker 4 (21:31):
And so when you play on that many teams, you
absolutely have value.

Speaker 5 (21:35):
Yes, greatness with Philip Rivers coming out and having the
game he did again, we talked about it with San
Francisco having no pass rush, so you got a little
bit of love. Unfortunately, you didn't get the big points
from Tyler Warren like you might have hoped. Pierce ended
up being the hero of the day, and for Philip
Rivers's sake because he didn't have the pass rush could

(21:57):
actually push the ball to where Pierce became a factor.
As we know his yards per catch among the league leaders.
But I'll close the Josh Johnson loop by saying two
thousand and eight, him, Kalaias Campbell, and Joe Flacco three
of my heroes still.

Speaker 1 (22:13):
Going yeah, going strong.

Speaker 4 (22:16):
Joe Flacco is the perfect transition because I was going
to talk about the Cincinnati Bengals and the two things
that I want to say. One in a positive way,
Cincinnati routed the Dolphins and it was Joe Burrow against
Quinn Ewers, and that's just that's tough to do if
you're Quinn Yours and Joe Burrow throws for three hundred
and nine yards and four touchdowns, and I like quin

(22:37):
Yours and it's no knock on quin Yours. The point
is in the NFL and heading into Week sixteen, we're
having Quinn Yours, We're having Brady Cook, maybe we'll have
Riley Leonard, maybe we'll have Chris Ola Dokin, Like these
are the names that are going to be starting games
in Week seventeen because of injuries or teams just are

(22:58):
like let's start to eve evaluate players. I have a
real problem with the product of the league with that,
and so I give kudos to the Bengals because their
season is over with, but hey, let's continue to play,
and Joe Burrow wants to play, and they lit up
the Dolphins for forty five points. Chase Brown had a
great game, and as crazy as it was, Jamar Chase

(23:20):
has eleven targets.

Speaker 1 (23:22):
He doesn't catch any of the.

Speaker 4 (23:22):
Four touchdown passes with Cincinnati that was That was the
only crazy nugget. But I like how the Bengals are
just continuing to play and giving you the value. And
if you stuck with the guys and had t Higgins
and had Jamar Chase and had Chase Brown throughout the season,
they're paying off for you, where other teams are basically
punting on their season, which makes it a real stinker

(23:45):
for fantasy purposes, especially going into title games.

Speaker 5 (23:48):
To that end, the fact that Joe Burrow rebounded from
whatever the hell that was against Baltimore, I don't even
know how to describe that. It's just to get in
to get scot whatever, But like that just didn't look
like a guy that didn't want to play football that weekend,
worst game of his career, and so to come back
with this effort. If you trusted him, you got rewarded.

(24:11):
You certainly were going to play Higgins when he got
you know, activated Brown had been fantastic weekend week out,
and jamar Chase. Even in last week's disaster debacle stinkers
you call it, Dan, he was still nine for one
thirty two, so you still felt good about him. But yeah,
to not fold up the tent. Thank you to the Bengals.

(24:32):
First time we might, first and last time we may
thank the Bengals as an organization for anything.

Speaker 1 (24:37):
Yeah, Ian, what stood up for you in week sixteen?

Speaker 6 (24:40):
Well good transition because one of the things I was
going to bring up was Chase Brown. I just think
Chase Brown deserves some love on this podcast because I'm
actually looking at how he's done the last eight weeks.
Looks like it's been eight straight weeks of just rock
solid performances. Like obviously you put up thirty two point
nine this week, which was massive, but even before then,
it was sixteen, eighteen point five, eighteen point three, fifteen,

(25:02):
eighteen point seven, nineteen point two, twenty five and a half.
Like the dude's been nothing but consistent ever since Week
eight of the season, and as someone who has shares
of him in a lot of different leagues this year,
it's it really saved my season because things were not
looking well for him. So really good to see Chase
Brown on the come up here.

Speaker 3 (25:21):
Yeah, he's number seven since.

Speaker 6 (25:23):
We ate, Wow, because I see on the season consistency
on the season, he's tenth at least that's in PPR
at least.

Speaker 5 (25:31):
Yeah, I'm looking at half right, but yeah, either either way,
it's it's still from where he started and he I
bet you if you go back through the data, he
got traded a lot.

Speaker 6 (25:40):
Yeah, I'm sure, Yeah, absolutely, I consider it. I threw
out a few offers myself, glad no one took him.
And then the the other one I want to bring
up is just who is offensive rookie of the Year
this year, because like obviously Amecca Buca came out of
the gates super hot, but you know, he's kind of
slowed down recently. Tyler Warren kind of the same deal.

(26:00):
Traveon Henderson was the betting favorite coming into this weekend,
but he obviously just had that absolute dud. So I
simply don't know who's gonna win this, Like, is it
Jackson Dart, is it like probably Tyler Shuck.

Speaker 3 (26:11):
At this point he's got four wins.

Speaker 6 (26:15):
It's like it's such a confusing one because like usually
every year it feels like there's at least two guys
who could be in the conversation. But right now, it's like,
please someone winning Millen. He's got to be one of
the betting favorites right now.

Speaker 4 (26:27):
Right, I'll tell you what, Like we mentioned Ashton genty
earlier that he should at least get combat pay for
playing behind that offensive line, So we.

Speaker 1 (26:37):
Do have to we do have to throw.

Speaker 3 (26:42):
Here's a trophy.

Speaker 5 (26:44):
Seriously, you still took the ball every week. It feels
like a real man of genius kind of beer commercial
that we could put out there for him.

Speaker 4 (26:55):
Kudos to you Las Vegas Raiders running back playing me
in that Carapi offensive line.

Speaker 1 (27:02):
Crappy guys that you can block. Well. They had they
had they.

Speaker 4 (27:08):
Had a CD that had like forty of those tracks
that I had. I guarantee i'd look at If I
would look at my CD collection that I have in
the closet that's just to the left of me, I
could find the whole catalog of Real Men of Genius.

Speaker 3 (27:23):
That's fantastic.

Speaker 4 (27:24):
And that was sung by uh the old singer of
Survivor the background.

Speaker 1 (27:31):
Uh was it Jimmy Jamison?

Speaker 3 (27:34):
Wow?

Speaker 1 (27:34):
Is that who was? Yes?

Speaker 4 (27:36):
He was the he was the he was the not
the arm the voice guy, but he was the singer.
I believe, I believe he was the one that did
those how about that look at you?

Speaker 1 (27:46):
Yeah?

Speaker 4 (27:47):
Anyway, Ian again before your time, But Real Men of
Genius was magnificent.

Speaker 1 (27:54):
Good reference, Mike, that was a real good reference.

Speaker 4 (27:56):
By the way, I don't remember when people actually cared
about offensive rookie the year. I right, like this is
but it's wide open and usually it's a quarterback.

Speaker 5 (28:07):
But that's it, right, Yeah, It's like the Heisman Trophy.
Occasionally someone raises their hand and says I want in.

Speaker 6 (28:14):
Well, it just feels like each year there's it's like, okay,
there's a debate like should it be this guy or
this guy? I remember a few years ago was Puka
Nakua versus whoever ended up winning it that year? I'm
completely blanking right now. I think it was a quarterback anyway,
you know, I'm blanking right now.

Speaker 5 (28:32):
But there's I guess to Dan's point of do we
really talk about it a ton like when they do
these NFL honors.

Speaker 1 (28:40):
Yes, I don't think that we do, but maybe we should.
I I would. I would, honestly.

Speaker 4 (28:47):
I would probably give it to Shook because I just
think that there's so much responsibility and he has played
well in the second half of the season.

Speaker 6 (28:55):
Oh.

Speaker 2 (28:55):
C J.

Speaker 6 (28:55):
Stroud is where I was thinking, Okay, yeah, it was
between him and Nikua and Stroud won it.

Speaker 1 (29:00):
The uh that would probably be my vote would be
Tyler Show.

Speaker 5 (29:05):
Yeah, the last couple of years. So Daniel Stroud, Garrett Wilson, gotcha,
Jamar Chase, Justin, Herbert Kyler, Murray Sakuon Barkley, Alvin Kamara,
Dak Prescott. Going back to twenty sixteen.

Speaker 4 (29:19):
By the way, I have to correct my Survivor lead
singer Jimmy Jamison came after Dave Bickler. Dave Bickler is
the real Men of Genius singer who sang I of
the Tiger. So there's my correction. I did have to
fact check myself.

Speaker 5 (29:33):
Yeah, but the fact that you knew it was a
Survivor singer, I'm giving you full credit.

Speaker 1 (29:38):
Here's the deal.

Speaker 4 (29:39):
And Ian Survivor was a great band in the eighties,
couple of different lead singers. You may know some of
their songs if you would hear them. But when you
hear when you hear the voice of the Real Men
of Genius, you cannot unhear it from Survivor. So then
when you listen to Survivor again and you hear it,
you're like, ah, Real Men of Genius, And I'll how

(30:00):
you put two and two together.

Speaker 1 (30:02):
If hey, that's a good, good work. If you can
get it, I'll tell you how much.

Speaker 4 (30:06):
All Right, we're gonna do some report cards, and just
to let you know that's coming up next. Mike Scott
is Waiver Wire. Our midweek episode is going to focus
on the three Christmas Day games. It's a funky calendar
week with Christmas Eve on Wednesday. We know you're probably
not listening to a podcast on Thursday, but we can
hopefully help you with those lineups, especially with Championship week.

(30:29):
So that's going to be our midweek episode, and then
we'll be back with a rankings episode for you on
Friday entering into the weekend. So even though it's the
Christmas holiday, we'll give you a full three week of
episodes because of how much is at stake In week seventeen.
Coming up next Mike's Waiver Wire picks plus again, I'll
report cards. It's all next here and I want your flex.

(30:50):
It's report card time. Let's start off with Mike Carmen.
How'd your ledger look in a week sixteen?

Speaker 5 (30:56):
Mike, let's see three of our top five finished in
the top two. Hurts was tenth. You got Drake May
at seven and brock Perty I had him thirty finished first,
I'll feel good, and Joe Burrow was the honorable mention.
He finished fifth, so slight victory there. We talked about
Josh Allen. I'll take the l he was second on
my board, figuring if nothing else he would be running
for his life from Miles Garrett.

Speaker 3 (31:18):
Didn't even get that.

Speaker 5 (31:19):
And then Jacoby Prisett failed me miserably, finishing twenty third
on the day running back position CMC. With another top
five performance, we take our win there. We talked about
the odd game that was Gibbs. Well, that didn't do
it for our fantasy team. That put him down at
nineteenth or thereabouts. Actually, no, sorry, that was my That

(31:41):
was understandard. The reset of this kills me, but he
still finished thirteenth with his seventeen point eight, so I'll
take the l there. Saquon Barkley with his one hundred
plus he finished top ten, so victory and Bijon had
himself a big game, particularly in the receiving side of things,
so that worked out pretty nicely. Jamar Chase got us

(32:02):
some love losses for the two members of the Detroit
Lions that found their way into the list. Aj Brown
had a solid game, not overwhelming, but we'll take a
We'll take a partial credit on that one.

Speaker 4 (32:18):
I'll say this on the opposite side of that Lion
Steelers game. You may not have said Kenneth Gainwell is
going to catch a football near the end of the
first half on his back with his hand on the ground,
But he did, and he was one of your ninja
plays for this past weekend.

Speaker 5 (32:31):
Yeah, Gainwell came up big for us. There no question.
Another one hundred yard game for Tony Pollard. Do do
we just celebrate that he's still seeing the football. So
we got that loss with Jayden Reid because you ended
up having everybody up and going for Green Bay. And
then Jordan Love gets concussed, so it got weird. Rogers
was a hot play. He did us well, Herbert did
us well, Golf did us well. So we take those wins.

(32:54):
DK Metcalf lost forty million dollars, so I'll take the
l there.

Speaker 4 (32:59):
He did get me five points of my PPPF fan
points per punching fans, so that was good.

Speaker 1 (33:06):
That was five points.

Speaker 6 (33:07):
Oh yeah, that MVP of the week and that yeah.

Speaker 3 (33:09):
Folks are like, hey, he lost this much at salary.

Speaker 5 (33:11):
I'm like, no, no, no, that trigger's a clause they get
out from forty billion. That's kind of a big deal.
Mcconkee scored. Is that enough to take a victory?

Speaker 3 (33:20):
Lap?

Speaker 5 (33:20):
Only four for forty three, but it's a win. And
then we had a couple of guys get hurt when
you're talking about Judkins and Henderson, So the incompletes there.
Josh Jacobs was on the down side, Javonte Williams had
just a day. Lamar Jackson left with injury, so again
incomplete the large back contusion fellas as we go forward there,

(33:43):
McLaurin did not a whole lot of anything again quarterback
play there and then in the terms of the other
ninja picks. We look at some suspect efforts. I guess
Kirk Cousins finished as a back end one. So that's
enough to take a w.

Speaker 4 (34:00):
Yeah, I absolutely take the wins where you can get it, right, Ian,
Do you have any wins in the streaming defenses?

Speaker 6 (34:05):
Yeah, I mean let's start with the l that was
the Kansas City Chiefs. I told you to start their
defense if you could get him, and they only got
you one fantasy point if you took my advice there,
so I apologize if you did. They allowed twenty four
points to cam Ward and the Titans. That was a surprise,
and they would have had a negative outing on the
day had they not gotten two sacks on Ward that
actually got them into the positive territory, earning you one

(34:28):
fantasy point. Other than the Chiefs though really positive. Week
got the Tennessee Titans defense on the other side of
that same game, they got you twelve fantasy points if
you started them. Only allowed nine points to the Chiefs
and Gardner minshew, I hope his he's doing okay, and
then they also sacked him four times. And then lastly,
the best start of the three was the Minnesota Vikings

(34:48):
got you thirteen fantasy points if you started them seven
points allowed and they got one interception and five sacks
on Jackson Darton the Giant and the Giants. That was
there opponent there.

Speaker 1 (35:00):
Boy Jackson darts day.

Speaker 6 (35:02):
Yeah yeah, speaking of three yards, speaking of another guy
who was in the offensive Rookie of the Year conversation
at one point this season and just completely dropped off that.

Speaker 4 (35:12):
Oh man, hey, I'll tell you what though, Titans d
little safety for you.

Speaker 6 (35:17):
It's oh good some did you mention the safety?

Speaker 1 (35:20):
Thank you, Dan, Yeah, good advice on that one.

Speaker 4 (35:24):
I gave you good advice on survivor barely Houston survived
against the Raiders.

Speaker 1 (35:28):
That wasn't too difficult.

Speaker 4 (35:30):
Saints, We're going to be a popular pick against Ian's Jets.
That ended up working out. What didn't work out was
my points of Palooza. A lot of games with high
point totals in Week sixteen, just not the one that
I picked, and that was Arizona and Atlanta. Still gave
you forty five points with Bijohn Robinson having a nice game,
but it did not turn into the shootout that we thought.

(35:51):
Cincinnati and Miami could have been a good pick. Cowboys
and Chargers were up there as well, but the Jaguars
in Denver even one, and of course the Monday Night affair.
But Falcons and Cardinals, it was gonna be a little
bit higher scoring than it was in the Desert.

Speaker 1 (36:08):
Nonetheless, still some good games for some of the players
in that game. Willows, what's that?

Speaker 3 (36:13):
What a week?

Speaker 1 (36:14):
Yeah? What a week?

Speaker 4 (36:15):
Now we can take a breath and get ready for
Week seventeen. Whether it's a consolation bracket, maybe it's a
Toilet Bowl prize that you're trying to avoid, or just
going for.

Speaker 1 (36:25):
The overall title.

Speaker 4 (36:26):
Mike Carmen's got the waiver wire ads that you need
if you want to bring home or avoid any punishments.

Speaker 1 (36:32):
Mike, what do you got?

Speaker 5 (36:33):
Well, they're scoring twenty five or more every week. Yeah,
the run game's been solid. But Trevor Lawrence it wasn't
just against the Jets. He's scoring against everybody these last
few weeks. And he's got the Colts defense that just
got absolutely shredded by Brock Purty on Monday Night Football.
So an opportunity here division they've already clinched a playoff,

(36:54):
Berth looking for more. Jacoby Brissett going up against the Bengals.
Fantasy owners were reticent to add him. Still available in
about half of league, so you got that opportunity. Chris Rodriguez,
we had him as a ninja a couple of weeks
in a row. Well, we didn't include him this past week,
but he found the end zone, became the lead back,
sixty plus yards and a score. Going up against the

(37:15):
Cowboys defense this week gives us an opportunity if you
get desperate just because you need touches, Judkins will be gone,
so Raheem Sanders gets the nod. He had eleven carries
for forty two yards in Week sixteen, so perhaps an
opportunity there. Going a little deeper, go back to Parker,

(37:36):
Washington after a big game going up against the Colts.
You know me, Tyler Schuck will always find his way.
We talked about the offensive rookie of the year, but
we get him versus cam Ward. Tell me that's not
suddenly fascinating football. Tik's been playing better football, right. They're
still fighting, are they good?

Speaker 4 (37:54):
No?

Speaker 3 (37:54):
But they've got spots and they're showing a bit of heart.
I like that.

Speaker 5 (37:57):
So a little bit of opportunity there, Tyler Aljier going
up against the Rams, just Bijon perhaps more as a
receiver and maybe you get a little bit of a
split workload there. And then we ad it because I
didn't have Woody Marks available to me last minute away
from the phone, and I was not terribly upset about it.

Speaker 3 (38:18):
Life goes on.

Speaker 5 (38:19):
But Jordan Juar Jordan going up against the Chargers not
the best of matchups. But again, we're just trying to
find some opportunities here in Week seventeen.

Speaker 1 (38:29):
I'll that again.

Speaker 4 (38:30):
The plan is for me to be at so Far
on Saturday as if the rain is done by them.

Speaker 1 (38:38):
I know that sounds very very.

Speaker 4 (38:41):
Weak, considering there are people who are dealing with single
digit temperatures and big amounts of snowfall and whatnot, but
it is the different animals we all know in southern
California when the rain's gonna come.

Speaker 1 (38:52):
But yeah, I'm looking forward to that matchup.

Speaker 4 (38:55):
Week seventeen schedule with those three games on Christmas Day
and then the double header on Saturday in the late window.
Like Carrie Rhodes and I have, we have two games.

Speaker 1 (39:05):
Now.

Speaker 4 (39:06):
I know that they want to highlight Eagles bills, but
when you only have two games, it's very weird, and
when the other game is basically loser gets number one pick,
that actually may be more of the interesting contest that
we've got for big picture stuff because the Eagles and
Bills are both in the postseason, and sure there's some

(39:26):
things that could happen that could change their stance of
the season, but yeah, just a funky, funky week with
the Christmas holiday on Thursday. So here's the thing with
the Giants Raiders. Guys in mentioning that the teams that
could lose that game of whoever loses that game will
have the number one overall pick, it's not head to
head that will decide on a tiebreaker. They only do

(39:47):
it by strength of schedule. So if the Giants were
to lose to the Raiders, they don't have the advantage
over the Raiders because they lost to them. They would
only have the advantage in a tie if their strength
of schedule was not as good as the Raiders' strength
of schedule and that means the softer schedule for the

(40:07):
worst team actually gets the better pick. So that just
comes with the NFL Draft. That's how the tie breakers
are ended up broken. They don't go to head to
head matchups that could have taken place the previous season.

Speaker 5 (40:18):
So do you still do you take it down for
you and put Jeff Hostetler in For Week seventeen.

Speaker 4 (40:25):
They should bring out Hostetler to flip the coin, right,
Giants and Raiders great.

Speaker 3 (40:31):
The most Hostetler? How great would that be?

Speaker 4 (40:34):
Magnificent? Well, let's wrap this bad boy up. It is
Christmas week. We will be back with a midweek episode
and then rankings at the end of the week. So
for Ian Roddy, who will let us know at some
point on what he's going to decide to do with
his family league. And for Mike Harmon, I'm Dan Beyer.
Can't wait to talk to you next time right here,
and I want your flex
