(00:24):
listening to Fox Sports Radio Big Show tonight. Let's start
it off. Five second air guitar solo that song. There's
a reason why we started like this tonight because last night,
Welcome inside the Jason Smith Show with my best friend
Mike Harmon. Alex tight Shirt was off last night. Yeah,
he was so his civic duty. He was filling it

(00:46):
on jury duty. He voted for death by hanging, so
that he did. He was a bit of a throwback
um and Sam filled in and did a great job,
like whenever Sam comes in does a great job filling
in for Alex. But you know, tight Shirt's got his
own thing, his own shove is out everything, and we would,
you know, play songs and Harmon I would start talking
and people on Twitter all through the night going where

(01:08):
is Bill Belichick? Telling me he hates that song. I
thought it was on the wrong show for Again, there
was a lot there was a lot of anger that
Bill Belichick did not have his normal run of song
derision nor his own song solo. Right Bill Belichick solo
did not appear, So people were wondering exactly what happened,
and well, well, welcome back, also back Golden Headphones. Justin

(01:31):
Frostburg finally sober following that Chargers victory. I should have
known better, guys here, I was thinking the air guitar solo,
the five second air guitar solo was for Austin Ekeler.
Oh wow, let it just turned the page on that one.
He couldn't fall forward. Uh go cats, Justin Jackson, But
you have the a lot of a lot of random points,

(01:51):
and I know you spent the last forty eight hours
compiling a lot of unique and interest in. Keenan Allen
staffs oh, we've got stats for days tonight. Again, I
had people on Twitter saying, dude, Frostburg Stature are gonna
take you all the way through the end of the year,
just on tonight for Keenan Allen. Sure enough, they are
holiday programming. It's the Keenan Allen Holiday special. Look at

(02:14):
him dance in the end zone. I hate that holiday special.
You need to we need to move that out a
little uh so Welcome Inside. We're live from the Geico
Studios where fifteen minutes can save you fifteen percent and
more in car insurance. More info visit Geico dot com.
So much NFL to get to. Got big college football
news as well. Urban Meyer the worst kept secret we've
had all season long, stepping down as head coach. The

(02:36):
House State guy says he's retiring following the Rose Bowl.
We got Pat forty coming up in a few minutes.
Yahoo College Football Inside it for the latest on that,
but a day after. We spent a lot of time
last night on Mark Sanchez and his qualities playing quarterback
for the Watchington Redskins. His best quality was his excitement
and youthful exuberance. In his first play, he handed off

(02:59):
to Adrian Peederson for a touchdown. You can't really top that.
He might as well have just walked off as if
your leg was broken yourself. I think the Jets have
three touchdowns in the last six games, so Mark Sanchez
immediately was out jetting the Jets. Yeah, but talk turned
today to what is next for the Washington Redskins because
they are in a very different situation than most other

(03:21):
teams when it comes to what do we do with
quarterback Alex Smith out for the year Colton McCoy now
out for the year. They bring in Mark Sanchez because
he had the most familiarity with the offense they ran,
so that's why he is there. They declined to bring
in Colin Kaepernick to back up Mark Sanchez. Josh Johnson

(03:43):
is going to be the backup for Mark Sanchez for
the rest of the season or until something happens to
Mark Sanchez, but it's no Colin Kaepernick. Head coach j
Gruden said today, you know, yeah, we talked about a
little bit, but again we're going in different directions. Were
talked about Colin, yeah, you know, but we want to
try to have somebody with a similar skill set, either
a that or be have somebody's familiar with the things

(04:05):
that I've done in the past with terminology. Because it's
such a short week, uh plan after playing Monday night,
get up to speed and to have two different sets
of offenses is almost impossible right now to try to
get taught. Okay, So let before we get to the
series of it, let's just realize he wanted to bring
in somebody with a similar skill set to Mark Sanchez.
We want somebody with a similar skill set. That's me

(04:29):
on my couch eating ice cream. Nobody else can butt
fumble like Mark Well because we need him, right, he
tried to do the sequel we wanted. He was covering
it between his cheeks when he got to the ground yesterday.
And somebody with a similar skill set to Mark set
he's the hero we deserve. That sounds about right. We
need somebody that can really suck and really be disappointed. Well,

(04:52):
I mean, you know they that in the act yards
of offense in the second half until that final drive
and then with great gusto, he took off and ran
and looked like he was being chased, like there was
a horror movie kind of moment. You know, the biggy
man was coming after him, his heads turning left and
Jourdan right like someone's gonna hit me, someone's gonna hit

(05:13):
he get down. We need someone with a similar skill
set to Mark Sanchez and someone who now is familiar
with what I've done. He had about what two hundred
words to say No, outside of the two thousand nine draft,
I don't think anybody's ever said that in the history
of the NFL we need someone with a similar skill
set to Mark Sanche. Well, he had a good run.

(05:33):
He had a couple of years there. It could have
been a better run. So it could have been a
better run. But on the whole, there's a lot of
quarterbacks who haven't achieved a with what Mark Sanchez did.
And you could say the defense, but it's still in
this lifetime, in this career. It's not this year. He's
not that guy. You know, he's not that guy. The

(05:54):
year before that. It's not the year before. That's not
the year before that. Here's the other year before that.
But here's the other before that that. Okay, yeah, right now.
But the dirty little secret and all of this in
terms of the quarterback position, is the rest of that
team stinks. Yes, you signed Peterson off the scrap heap

(06:16):
and he had one run the previous month. The guy
couldn't fall forward. Okay, who's less than seventy total yards
four straight weeks. You didn't trust him with the ball.
The offensive line is in shambles. You're signing guys off
the street defensively. You've been sieve like it's a bad,
bad unit all around, and now it's well, here's Mark
Sanchez and you make him the poster child of what

(06:39):
is a bad roster. And here now the Colin Kaepertick
part of it. As we have told you, his days
in the NFL are over. He's been out of the
league nearly three years now. He's not gonna come in
and suddenly play for I know that's the big thing
to say, Oh hey, let's bring in Colin Kaepernick, But
where do you think he was colluded against or not? Really,

(07:00):
he's gonna come in now in December, he's gonna learn
he's gonna no, he's not. We talked to Jason Locket
for last night and he said things are just flying
so fast because his grievance. This is gonna happen right
after the beginning of the new year. People are setting
up schedules to fly in to testify. Everything is gonna
happen now, and people are coming from all over the

(07:21):
globe that are gonna have to testify. My friend George
and sell Block D so he goes all of this
is happening, It's gonna be really hard to say suddenly, Okay,
now we have to postpone this because Colin's gonna be here,
because that's just not gonna happen. But the bottom line
is he's not just gonna come in in December and
and learn a playbook. That's what's take him three weeks.

(07:42):
You're at the end of the season. You need somebody
that can play at the highest level you can where
you're at the beginning of December. Sanchez came in because
he's familiar with the team. You think they wanted to
bring in Mark Sanchez. I can't believe what he said,
all let's go get hit. We all, he's gonna save
our season. The guy was unemployed for ten weeks. So
they're bringing in some body that can step in in
December and can play well. And that's not Colin Kaepernick,

(08:05):
not anymore because he's been out for way too long.
His days in the NFL are over. They're done now
that I will say this. I thought it was pretty
interesting and kind of crazy to hear them say, yeah,
we kicked on the tires on Colin Kaepernick, but you know,
all this stiff when we passed but Ruben Foster, we
had a conversation with a couple of guys have played

(08:26):
with him and said, yeah, let's bring him and he's okay, right,
Doug Williams and his Now, well, the the comments that
he apologized for, right said, we're all in agreement, and
we talked to these folks and and whatever else, and
and he minimized everything that Foster had done. Now you
look at this situation, it's the we kicked the tires,

(08:46):
we talked about it, and for the Redskins, for Daniel Snyder,
the guy who's not one to bow to pull questions
and social media and petitions and anything else. So this
one didn't seem like he would do that either. Uh.
And the the fact of the matter is there's a

(09:08):
difference between because people keep bringing up Eric Reid right
saying he's back in the league. If I asked the
person on the street, non hyper football fan who Eric
Reid was, they wouldn't know, okay, And he's been a
great player, has been a great safety for a number
of years. You say the name Colin Kaepernick, everybody knows. Right,

(09:30):
There's a much different thing in terms of how that's
received in a locker room. And the locker room might
embrace it, but more so the fans, business partners, whatever else.
There's still a lawsuit pending, and even if Read's grievance continues,
it doesn't have the same profile. It certainly has not
been the same lightning rod that we've had with Colin Kaepernick,

(09:52):
right or wrong, that's just you're looking at business people.
And yes, I know the argument has been, aren't you
in the busines this of winning? Yeah, in in in
you in a lot of ways, Yeah you are. But
I think the people in Washington and in a number
of these other places that are looking at finding a
new quarterback, and Josh Johnson is now the guy who

(10:13):
gets the contract to back up Mark saying similar skill
set to Mark Sanchez. The you need somebody who can
turn the ball over a lot. I need somebody that
can be underwhelming. He's the quarterback for the San Diego
Fleet and the Alliance of American Football, who was the
number one overall pick in the quarterback draft last week
that we told you all about. San Diego can't have

(10:33):
anything nice anymore in football. He was plucked, but you
know he was there in Cincinnati and in Tampa with Gruden,
so he's familiar with the terminology and the sets they
run like it or not. That's part of the equation.
The other is they're looking around the room and while
they're mathematically alive in the playoff scenarios and in the

(10:55):
NFC East, does anybody believe they're winning more than one
of their final four game? Know this roster quarterback or not?
But still, but in reality, you sit at six and six,
you're a game out of first place in the in
your division. I mean, really, it looks like you're gonna
finish six and ten. But you have to do something
because hey, you know we're right there. Well and that

(11:18):
and that's the thing, right, And that's the the pro
Kaepernick argument is can he be any worse even not
having played? Right? Because Sanchez hadn't played since two thousand sixteen, right,
he was with the Cowboys and through two picks in
his eighteen attempts and was awful, and he was um
less than stellar. I think last night would be the
kind way to put it. So I think that's part

(11:40):
of the argument is no, even you know, when you
use the how long he's been out of the league,
does that work? I think you get to the terminology,
You get to the learning curve whatever else. I guess you.
You put some legs to it, but in the end,
it's still a business decision, and businesses get to make
their decisions unit by unit. Yeah, you can get another
core or about but a guy who's been out of

(12:01):
the league for almost three years and to come in
in the middle of December, that's just not realistic. Twitter

But is he really retiring? We'll find out next. Pat
forty who Sports stops by. This is Fox. I hate
that song? Night three Fox Sports Radio. Get those threes up.

The Jason Smith Show with my bass friend Mike Carmen
Live from the Geiko Studios. We got more NFL on
the way, but today was dominated by the early morning
headline than Urban Meyer stepping down on his head. Coach
at Ohio State after the rose Ball he is retiring.
Ryan Day will take over as the new head coach

(13:07):
for the Ohio State University. But as Urban Meyer really retiring?
H but we don't even get to play the coaching
caroson Is he retiring? But is he really retiring? Joining
us now on the hotline no One Better National college
columns for Yahoo Sports Pat forty. You can follow him
on Twitter at Yahoo forty and Pat, I think that's

(13:28):
the big headline today is yes, Urban no Myers retiring,
But is he really retiring? Uh? You know, he's tried
to retire a couple of times before, not very effectively,
And we'll see what his inclination is this time. Uh
you know, I don't believe anything Urban says for the
most part, so my my guests after him hearing him

(13:52):
not answer those questions very well. Today is that we'll
see him again, maybe a couple of years, maybe three,
I don't know. But uh, I this is he's such
a competitor, he's so successful. I think that he will
feel the itch again to coach. Is the itch going
to be in college football? Or in a year? Could

(14:14):
people look at him and say, boy, what a game?
Day coach. He has always been. He could be the
next Pete Carroll. Oh, I don't think. I don't see
him in the NFL. I think that would be a
really hard adjustment for him. First of all, he lose,
you know, a fair amount in the NFL, and losing
kills him. It destroys his soul. And you know, if
you're if you're twelve and four, you've had a really
good year, except if you're Urban Meyer, and then you've

(14:35):
had four cataclysms. Uh, And so I don't see him
doing well there. I also think he's a great recruiter
and motivator. I mean, he's his stick works with college kids.
I'm not sure it would work with professional age athletes.
And I know your latest column Pat went over really
well in the state of Ohio. But the question being
what is it? What is Urban Meyer's legacy? Obviously great

(14:58):
game day coach, dominated miss again all these winds pile up,
but a bit more complicated than that. On the larger scale,
it is. I mean, there's just been a lot of
stuff with Urban all the time. I mean, he is
he's a melodramatic guy. He's a bit of a DV.
He's a bit of a narcissist, and uh that's followed him.
I mean not only off the field problems with players,

(15:21):
not only the you know, the Zach Smith disaster at
at Ohio State, but then also you know, the health issues.
And suddenly he's retiring at Florida, and then the next
day he's back, and then a year later he's retiring,
and now he's at Ohio State and he's got a
new lease on life, a new perspective. And then seven
years in now he's retiring again. And you know, it's

(15:42):
just there's always something with him. And well, you know
that's good for our business. It gives us stuff to
talk about, right about. But uh, it's just it's not
as easy as just to say, you know, he's riding
off into the sunset, because you just don't know with him, No,
Because here's the thing, Pat is that he he says
I'm done coaching. He see into talk today and all
the sound bites he said and all the things he

(16:03):
didn't say, he's walking away angry, and nobody walks away
angry and says I'm never going to coach again. He's
a guy that wants to leave his own way. He's
just piste off how this went in Ohio State. He
felt they didn't have his back early on with Zach Smith.
I think this is a decision that was made in
early September when I got a three game suspension. I'm
gonna do this year and then I'm done. And that's

(16:25):
where we're at right now. It could be I mean,
you know, I think that's when the speculation really started percolating.
Was that you know that that that he had reached
a kind of a fractured point with the university. And
I do know that he still has a great relationship
with Gene Smith, the athletic director, but above Jean, I
don't know it. And he may have decided, you know, fine,

(16:46):
I I'm gonna put up with you all this year
and then I'm out of here. And if you're right,
if that's the case, then he's certainly going to coach again.
But that would also make I mean a colossal lie
of all of the this story about the health issues,
and so what is it, I mean, what is really
motivating him? Like, you know, I think it's gonna take
a year or two probably to figure it out. Box

(17:06):
Sports Radio Jason Smith Show with Mike Harmen company from
the Geico Studios on the hotline with US Yeah who
sports college football insider Pat Forty on the line. You
follow him on Twitter at Yahoo forty. You can access
that column I referenced a little bit earlier and all
his other great content there Pat the other story here
in Los Angeles, Cliff Kingsbury makes the decision he's coming

(17:28):
to USC. How long is he here? Wow? You know,
good question. I mean it depends how long Clay Helton's there,
Um Urban Meyer comes in a year, I'm going to
be here. See all my life's a circle. That could
be the answer. We'll see. And while I don't think
Urban was that calculating in this, I do know that

(17:50):
you know, Clay Hilton's obviously and they must win situation
next year. And how much is is winning? I mean,
is it eight? Is it nine? Is it ten? I
think seven or US probably doesn't do the trick. That's
not USC level winning. So just kings Barry help. I
think he will. I mean I think he will modernize
that offense and they will. They will be able to maximize.

(18:11):
They have young talent on that side of the ball
and good talent. Uh, they need an offensive line to
perform well. But quarterback, receivers, running backs, they've got some
players there. Uh, and kings Bart should be able to
make him better. Uh. You know. One other thing outside
to get to is we were watching where the recruitment
of Kelly Bryant goes, and now the ex Clemson starting
quarterback announces he's transferring to Missouri. So now suddenly Missouri

(18:34):
gets a guy who, hey, this this is a this
is a playoff caliber starting quarterback in college football that
kind of just hits their free agency. Yeah, that's a
huge pickup for them. Obviously, Drew Lock was a really
good four years starting quarterback for them. Could be a
first round pick at least second or third at the latest,
I would think, but they had nothing backing him up.
And so you plug Kelly Bryant in to an eight

(18:56):
win team and there's some other players there, and I
think they've got a chance to, you know, to be
absolutely in the mix at least for second in the
SEC East. The problem is, I think Georgia is built
for the long haul there, and you know, George's George
is not going anywhere the same way Alabama's not going anywhere.
So everybody's kind of battling for third third best team

(19:16):
at the SEC at this point. Now we had the
celebration of Jalen Hurts over the last seventy two hours plus.
I would be remiss if I didn't point out your
tweet earlier just about James Franklin being in a good
mood UH during the National Football Foundation things. With the
news of today, but with the college football Playoff coming on?
How how soon before we're at eight teams? You know, boy,

(19:38):
I mean the center of the better. As far as
I'm concerned now, I will say, I'm look, I'm happy
we have the four team playoff. It's a million times
better than the PCs. So we have made progress, but
it's not as good as it could be. So if
Georgia had gotten in the playoff, I think there would
be a more UH urgency towards pushing for eight because

(19:58):
that would have that would have board so many axes.
You would have had three of the Power five out
of the playoff. You would have had two from the
SEC again, UH, And I think people really that they
would have been fed up and started pushing for change.
Now you know, we were close enough that there probably
still will be at least some discussion about it. Um,

(20:19):
you know what, how long it will take? I don't know.
Nothing happens quickly in college sports. We have figured that out.
It only took on a hundred and forty something years
to get to the way four team playoffs. So I'm not,
you know, holding my breath. He's on Twitter at Yahoo forty.
That's at Yahoo forty Pad forty. Check out his column
on Yahoo at well the complicated legacy of Urban Meyer.

(20:41):
It's up there right now. And what do you got

you go. That's like your greeting card. Just Phil, come
out the bulls that they you need fillback and you
can play the Beatles. It's been a long time now
coming back home. I've been away now? Oh ah man, Yeah,
Twitter at how about a fresca Mike at Swollen Dome.

(26:46):
So there it is a three minute intervention for Mike
Harmon And you know what, I'm gonna breathe ether easier.
I'm gonna watch Michigan Northwestern as one of our monitors
here in the Geico Fox Sports Radio Studios and I'll
calm down. Oh thanks to Pat Forty for stopping by,
uh talking urban Meyer with us again. He's got a
great column up on Yahoo right now about the complicated

(27:06):
legacy of urban Meyer because look what have we found
out from urban Meyer over the past here years. Guy
is a hell of a coach. What probably the him
and Nick Saban the two best game day coaches in
college football that I've seen in twenty years, that's how
good they are. But urban Meyer also left a mess
at Florida with players getting arrested and all kinds of improprieties.
And he leaves the same thing at Ohio State with

(27:28):
the Zach Smith domestic violence mess that he never really
got passed. So yes, it's a complicated legacy. But urban Meyer,
hearing him today, seeing the press conference, as you heard
Pat Forty say, he dodged the questions about his future,
What's he gonna do. I don't doubt for a second
that he is physically feeling it a little bit. I

(27:49):
don't think the guys racknoid systems. The article I was
reading right in the middle of trying to tell me
what the iracknoid system was a spiders sistants like three
paragraphs about the suspension, and then I went back into
the medical So but that's the doctor that was actually
saying what it was he came on today. Yeah, that's

(28:10):
the guy who came on after after urban Meyer today,
and he just isn't walking away, like this is it
for me, Here's pageantry, here's what it would be for
a guy of urban Meyer's ego. To walk away is
gonna be I do it on my terms, and we're
celebrating my life in my career, because that's who he is.
This is I'm done coaching. He's angry, he's saying he's

(28:32):
retiring because he doesn't want to be on the hook
for just walking away, doesn't want to be messy, So
I'm retiring. He won't coach next year. He'll take a
year away, he'll get the lay of the land, and
then he'll say I'm feeling better because he just doesn't
care at this point, he doesn't care what people think
things are. Really, you're doing the whole I'm not feeling

(28:52):
good on this. I'm feeling good. Oh now you feel
of course people are can say yes, you're feeling better
and you're coming back He's the college football version of
Rick Pettino. All right, we know, yeah, we know. Don't
just tell except he is in less interested in telling
us that, Yeah, I'm a victim than Rick Pattino is.
So what's gonna happen? He'll sit out for a year
and then he'll probably come back to USC, y USC

(29:12):
because Lynn Swan and you know people are in the know.
You know, everybody is in the know. How odd was
it that Lynn Swan just said we're a family. Clay
Helton is my guy? It's like, whoa really? Clay Clay? Really?
Without looking into the off season, without looking into any
candidates who may become available, who may want to come coach, No,
he's my guy. Here's Cliff Kingsbury as the offensive coordinator.

(29:34):
What does he really want to do? Cliff Kingsbury can
get to the NFL? Is an o C. He can
certainly become a head coach someplace else. Why is he USC?
He's coming to USC so he could be very high
profile for a very short period of time. Here I
am in one year and I've turned around the USC
offense and now I'm a commodity again. He'll get all
the credit and he'll go someplace else, and then a

(29:57):
year from now, Urban Meyer is gonna say, boy the
sunshine in of Los Angeles. I really enjoyed. Boy my health.
I'm feeling great. I haven't had headaches, you know what.
I'm ready, and he'll be the head coach at USC.
We said it in the beginning of the year, and
everybody else who want to pile on weeks after congratulations,
we said it beginning. He's gonna this is it for him.
He's so piste off that Ohio State didn't back him

(30:19):
in the Zach Smith scandal, which was all his fault,
and so much albeit circumstantial evidence topped off by Yeah,
I delete all my texts off my phone, so you
can't see anything I talked to anybody about anything, unless
it was five minutes ago my wife telling me I'm
going to the grocery store. So you knew that he
was mad and he was gonna say this is it,
This season is done, and now I'm walking away. There's

(30:42):
no reason why it happened now other than to be
the fact that I'm pissed and I'm done, and I'm
gonna wait a year and then I'm coming back, and
I'm coming back to a big job so I can
say I won the national title at Florida. I won
the national title Ohio State. I want at USC Nobody
is doing what I am doing. That's Urban Meyer's future
to build one more program. Right done at four times,

(31:02):
let's go for number five, another high profile, another big wind,
total on on a big stage for Cliff Kingsbury. This
he'll be the coach. He's a de facto coach this year.
Clay Helton is an empty suit and Clay will have
to have this one year to say okay, and if
he goes twelve and oh well, then all right, then us.
But it's still gonna be about Clift Kingsbury if they
go twelve, and it doesn't matter. When they underachieve, Lynn

(31:25):
Swan can look like a good guy and say we
stayed with our family guy, Clay Helton. It didn't work out.
Now I got to go outside and get a guy
to come in who's gonna be a great head coach.
That's why they committed to Clay Helton so quickly. He
knows I I have no doubt in my mind. They
know that this is all. This is in the works.
Butt a lot of money on this, even one of
the worst assessments of a team that I think you've

(31:46):
ever seen, the statement of all the problems they had
in the program, and then they come right back over
the top and say, ah, you's still our guy. So
it's just incongruss and just doesn't fit. And with Kingsbury,
he'll either go to the NFL or he'll find another
head coaching job and we'll see how how that flows.
But for urban Meyer there it is a complicated legacy.
And obviously you know much was made down the stretch, right,

(32:08):
the the angst and the problems on the sideline, the
histrionics when they're they're losing to Michigan, and then or
I should say winning winning against Michigan, but the week
before against Maryland all the problems. Then he's having issues,
and then against Michigan he's happy and rolling through. And
then Northwestern, well, they beat up on them a bunch

(32:31):
of big plays and roll to a twenty one point victory.
And now the health comes up again, and it's look,
I hope he's well, right, You're hope in all of
this that that whatever is ailing him. I've never experienced migraines.
I know people that have. If if that all is
part of the part and parcel with what he's had
to deal with. It's an awful thing, right, it's it's

(32:53):
a debilitating thing. But you can't ignore the other parts
of this story. And I think people are trying to
just push all that to the wayside, all the Zack
Smith stuff and everything that went on there and and
all the problems in terms of administration, and push that
to the wayside and immediately just well, that's our coach

(33:13):
and that's what he does. And you know it's you
and Beheim and he's your monster, right the quote you've
had so many times throughout the the but there's obviously
no no, no different monsters. Yeah, no, no, no, no,
But but just the idea of being that you know,
you go and you find a way to defend whatever

(33:34):
helps the program. Which you're a fan, right, it's all
our teams, right, you were excited about Super Bowls for
about four weeks and then you turned your back on them,
started yang my Houston Texans and my this team and
my that team. But for Ermin Meyer, we've seen him
retire a couple of times. Uh doesn't mean that he
won't be back on the sideline maybe a year, maybe two.

(33:55):
Maybe he'll show up on TV for a little while
and wave at you twitter At How about a frescup? Mike,
It's Well and Dome. The Jason Smith Show with My
bass friend Mike Harman coming up next, what is, without
a doubt, the best most fun story of the day sports.
This is Fox Sports Radio and Kenyan Allen Stats. Yes,
we'll have those as well. Be sure to catch live

(34:16):
editions of The Jason Smith Show with Mike Harmon weekdays
at ten pm Eastern, seven pm Pacific on Fox Sports
Radio and the I Heart Radio Fox Sports Radio. The
Jason Smith Show with My bass friend Mike Harmen. Tonight
show brought to you Body Discover Card Wait, Treat you
like You, Treat you well. We got a crazy day today.

(34:39):
We got the Urban Meyer story. We have more on
Kareem Hunt's situation coming up in ten minutes, which is
just insane. I think everybody who wanted to raise their
hand on Friday and defend the National Football League is
now slowly putting their hand down, going, oh, well, I
didn't know any of this. They're doing that. Homer Simpson
walks in and then or Grandpa Simpson, Yeah, he goes

(35:00):
and he strolls right back out, grabs his hat. What's
his hat on? Or Homer who just goes back into
the bushes. Yes, the big Jeff, I'm going back into
the bushes. But clearly, what is the best story of
the day. Expansion is coming to professional sports. Seattle is
getting a National Hockey League expansion team. They will begin
play in the two season. Was supposed to be a

(35:24):
year earlier, but they weren't sure they could get Key
Arena up to snuff. And time's listen. We don't want
anything to be embarrassing like, oh hey, sorry, we don't
have a place to play. So it's gonna be. There's
gonna be realignment. The Coyotes are gonna move to the
Central Division. All this and the NHL will be even
and everything is wonderful with for eight team divisions, which

(35:45):
is way too much, but it's the NHL. But Seattle
loses a basketball team, waits a long time, and now
they get a hockey team and it will do well
up there. It's a great climate, Pacific Northwest. Indoor sports
do well in Seattle, and that they'll be just fine.
They will embrace this team and it'll be great. Well,

(36:06):
back in January, a a hockey romance writer. Yes there
is such a thing, pamel and uh she uh trademarked
the name Seattle sock eys, so that's already part of her. Um. Yeah, well,

(36:27):
before before we get to the big the big name thing,
we have actually have Gary Btman on the annalyncement. Let's
let's talk to the commissioner. Yeah, they still think it's
David Stern showing up. Still the same response. But I
spent some time today thinking, Okay, what would be the
best names for an expansion team in Seattle? Sonics would

(36:49):
be pretty cool if they just called the Seattle Sonics,
that would be pretty cool. That's that'd be cool. Who
do you think it's gonna drop? The first Pucket's gonna be?
Sean Kemp would have Gary Pitton played goalie nothing gloves
saved by the glove. That no, that's good. Good just
because of his hair. I like that, that's good. Michael

(37:14):
Cage has to have a role. Oh yeah, Michael Kate. Yeah,
so these sells the same hair, and then I have
to play in short shorts. Yes, they would, they would.
All of those things are true. I absolutely Sam Perkins
would have to be involved smooth? How to get big
smooth in there? Just left shots. It's like me in

(37:34):
slow motion butt you watch how smooth? Here are some
ideas about things indigenous to Seattle and what would be
some names the best names for the Seattle hockey team.
Here's what I've come up with. The Latte's all right.
I mean the comment of sponsorship is, obviously the color

(37:54):
scheme would be light brown, so it would be kind
of tough to be they really wanted. The ice would
have to be light brown, you know, I mean it
would be at you actually took time with that one.
That's exactly right. How about this, because when they're bad,
that's I mean, that's where it goes. The bike lanes.
Bike lane? What's more popular Seattle than bike lanes? Everybody's

(38:17):
in the who is writing your material? Could also go
with the expensive kayaks, the face the things that are
indigenous to expensive kayaks, the expensive kayaks. Okay, yeah no,
the vetters, sure enough, he's a cub fan, but doesn't matter.

(38:39):
He would just come back to me this. But then
I thought, you know, maybe the best and do would
be to take a page out of the MLS, right,
and instead of thinking about a nickname. It's this ri
e I Seattle. Just sell it. I Seattle, don't even hesitate,
just sell it. Nobody goes mountain clawing. I mean if

(39:00):
you do hockey, yeah, I mean, if you do just
a quick cliff. There you go. What they throw on
the Seattle cliffs. We get the hat trick the Seattle cliffs.
I like that. And here's the last one. Right, So
you got garry I Seattle. I p a Seattle. That's
not bad Seattle. I pa Seattle settle. Yeah, I would
go Seattle. Ip a Seattle, I p a all right.
I like that little commute. Um if you do a

(39:24):
quick look of um, you know animals because you want to,
you know, want to go down that road. Well, I mean,
right off the bat, you've got bats and beavers are
the first two things. I mean, come on, the Seattle beavers.
What's about the Seattle Super Smokers short short, they play
every day and they may be able to say tonight's

(39:49):
game start since seven seven, twenty eastern time. I brought
you one Pacific Twitter. And how about a fresco Mike
Swollen down the Jason Smith Show with my best friend
Mike Harmon. Uh yeah, I like ri E I Seattle
and Seattle I P A. I think those are the two.
The I p A is a good touch. Coming up next,

(40:10):
we get back into the big developing story from the
National Football League again, like Homer Simpson shrinking back into
the woods. You after re tell you about the latest
update with the NFL and Kareem Hunt. This is Fox

(40:51):
all those places right after our show is over. About
three hours from now. We'll get to the latest twist
and the Bryce harp A Marathon coming up in a
half hour. Because the Dodgers got out to Vegas to
meet with Bryce Harper yesterday until they didn't about that
kind of a crazy as store really took on with him.

(41:14):
So we'll have that coming up in a half hour.
But that changed right about Zizi's Road. Uh, well, you
know that was a really weird movie. You want to
see a really weird bad movie. A few minutes. It's
about all I can take. Yeah, it's it's yeah, it's
it's weird. I drive by and I think about it
all I go. When I drive by Zazi's road, I'm like,
that way? Did they film it there? Uh? Oh yeah,
well it's it's on Zizi's road. Yeah. I don't think

(41:36):
it costs a lot of money to go someplace else.
You don't. We're going to Hawaii to make it look
like Zizi's road. We're gonna go on Zizi's road. We
got a sign printed up and there's a guy there
trying to sell me Keenan Allen. There's a lot of
all right for us, but you got one. You gotta
Keenan Allen stat for me. Do are you really asking me?
If I do, give me give me your best one,

(41:57):
Give me your best Keenan Allen stat sixty five straight
games with at least two catches, not just one catch,
two catches for Keenan Allen at sixty five straight games.
I think about those seven teams games where they didn't
even catch a ball. Yeah, that's true, one of the worst. Nona.
Wait a minute, we have had games where guys have

(42:17):
only caught one pass each, but they all but we
have caught passes. Hey, hard man, what was the Giants
Bears score? Real quickly? Prospers was flying right now. Man,
after that game, he's all chest. Only you drafted Keenan Allen.
You thought you thought he played in the game. He
came back pumping out his chest and going off Denzel Washington. Honest.

(42:38):
But before we get to the latest cream hunt thing,
I gotta say two things. One, we saw the big
the big move today in baseball. Speaking of baseball, Patrick
Corbyn signs with the Washington Nationals, gets a hundred and
forty million dollars. Robinson Canoe and Edwin Diaz are Are
are introduced as the newest members of the New York Metsine,
you know what, I like this trade the more time
goes on. Yeah, I like that about it. Yeah. Getting

(43:01):
the money for Canoe is okay. I wish it was
sixty million, but it's twenty million. But okay, and I
realized these moves are not going to be in a vacuum.
This is not just we got Cano and Diaz and
and you know they got rid of If you look
at the trade like this with the Mariners, they trade,
they get Cano, who was still a really good hitter.
Mats Mariners trade breakdown. By the way, just forget the

(43:21):
fact that you know, you get Cano is a really
good hitter, and you dump j Bruce and Anthony Sarzer,
who you wanted to get rid of, and then you
get Diaz, arguably the best relief pitcher in baseball right now,
and you give up to prospects and a picture who's
not of any consequence for you. When the door, no,
they's staying they said today, Synderguard staying there. They're talking

(43:42):
with the Marlins about Rayl Muto. I mean, I new
world order for your Mets. I like things I like
because you know, you gotta get back to the beginning.
And then what do we say all the time about
about baseball trades in general? This is not just a
Mets thing. It's not just the Mets stakes. I knew
you're gonna say that Frostburg. We say, have the death

(44:03):
match between the three would be candidates for your GMC
that cares about baseball. There's that true, Okay, we want
to know just this is that prospects are prospects. Just
because they're a first round pick doesn't mean they're gonna
be they're not. The Red Sox traded away first round picks.

(44:24):
The Cubs trade first round picks. Other teams. Everybody trades
away players they pick in the first round to get somebody,
some teams they're worth gold to. Sometimes they pan out,
sometimes they don't. And in reality, if people are good
and they play, they get too expensive and they wind
up playing someplace else after four years. So really, does
it really matter if you're trading first round picks? Yeah,

(44:45):
Jack Lenna could be a star, the guy that the
big chip in the Maritie trade. But the Mets got
the best reliever in baseball who's under club control for
a while. Key, I think they made out Kenley. Come on,
when Kenley Jansen's next year, you're gonna say, hey, we
get DS from you. You know, I get away from this. Yeah, wow,
oh wow, Dodger fan and went went to the heart

(45:11):
Joss Fergus flying. Yeah, nine straight games with at least
four receptions, touchdowns in four straight. There's your keenan all enough?
Are you even got him all? This is contagious well,
especially when he gets to defenders to run into them
each other and then pops up with a touchdown catch.
You didn't have to do anyone. It's coming off a

(45:32):
bed where we got a beard oil and how many
ounces he uses per week or what. So, just realized
that when you see these trades going on, hot stove
league is heating up, and we're what you know, who's
gonna go where first round picks their their prospects. They're
not they're not people that they're not like you're trading
a young star. You trade a guy that could be
a star one day. Maybe maybe he's gonna be solid.

(45:53):
The one guy that Mets gave up is protected to
be the middle of the pack starting picture. That's what
first round picks are sometimes. Who can trade that to
get Edwin Diaz? I'm sorry, but you can. I got
you by by the way that the Patrick Corbin dealt him.
Six years one forty guys, we've had our baseball quota.
You know, the price for Graham just did that, just
went through the roof. He's getting six years in one

(46:13):
forty you maade, you gotta pay the rest of Keno salary.
Oh no, coming out of It'll be good for the
next two years. And I'll worry about one because I'll
worry about but next couple of years. Can I was
gonna be good. The guys a hitter. You know who's next?
Chase Utley going to sign him. I think he's upset
because they extended Dave Roberts. Now he's not going to
be the Managerley. But a couple of big developments in

(46:40):
the latest round of the Keenan I'm sorry, the Keenan
Allen is on my head. The latest to Keenan Allen stats.
I'm gonna wake up middle of the night going Pam,
Keenan Allen got two passes in the game, sixty five
straight games. You know, why did you need to tell
me that? The latest twist in the Kareem hunt saga.

(47:00):
As now, anybody who was defending the NFL the past
few days, as, oh the NFL, you realize, oh, the
NFL are still a bunch of bad guys when it
comes to dealing with domestic violence. On Friday, there were
many people that wanted to say, Okay, yeah, Kareem hunt
bad guy. Had to let him go. Video breaks of

(47:22):
of him hitting a woman, pushing her, pushing a friend
into her, knocking her over, kicking at her, and he
gets released. And we said on Friday, here's the NFL
completely blowing another opportunity to do the right thing when
ray Rice is so close in their rear view mirror.
And oh, but the NFL they couldn't see the video.
But yeah, all that stuff I get. The hotel wouldn't

(47:44):
release the video. The police had the you know, got
to see it, but they weren't allowed to officially release
it to anybody. And what did we say, There's ways
for the NFL to see things. There's ways for the
NFL to look at this video, the ways for the
NFL to find out at least what is on the
video before they make a decision on him. And what
did we find out in the past forty eight hours?

(48:06):
And then the big story today we found out the
NFL told the chiefs to not pursue the video, that
they were handling it, but they did not pursue the video.
The NFL did not talk to Kareem Hunt nor the
woman when they did their investigation in February about what
happened in the apartment slash hotel where Kareem Hunt lived.

(48:26):
And now we find out today that the NFL never
pursued the report for the Kareem Hunt controversy. Police were there,
body cam stuff, everything. The NFL never pursued it. Kansas
City Star has this now and the chiefs never pursued it.

(48:46):
So anybody who wants to say, oh, the this story
is hiding behind no, the NFL decided, once again, here's
a bad story. We'd wind up looking bad. Here's one
of our young stars. You know what, Let's just hope
it goes away. Because to not even pursue it, I
mean they did. They didn't pursue the report. They didn't
try to talk to Kareem Hunt, didn't try to talk
to them. What did the NFL do exactly? I mean, really,

(49:08):
I what did the NFL do? What did the NFL do?
Tell me one thing they did to try to pursue
this and go, okay, was this something that happened. All
we had to do was they found out there's video,
there's this. They completely blow it again. You can't defend
the NFL, and still they find a way to say, Hey,
we have unprecedented high ratings this year, that's great. How
do we blow it? Oh yeah, we'd find a way

(49:29):
to not investigate a big domestic violent situation involving one
of our young stars. I'm sorry if it got out
that it was gonna be a bad headline for you,
But now you know what, because you don't take care
of it, Look how much worse it is now. The
NFL just out and out sucks sometimes. I'm telling you, Well,
it goes back to as we've talked about the last
few nights, going all the way back to Friday, you're
either in or you're out with the NFL as do

(49:51):
investigating these things, right, you either decide it's our policy
and we're going through and we're gonna go through all
the necessary forms and procedures and and red tape with
police and whomever else to try to get the information
we need. And if we come up empty on those,
then you get into that area that we talked about
a little bit with Alex Marvez and has been out there.

(50:12):
Figure out a way to get the tape and figure
out a way to get that information no matter what,
and that gets you down that slippery slope. As we
talked to Evan Rosenbloom from TMZ, they pay for videos right,
set it explicitly. And now the question is do you
want the NFL to go down that route? Do you
want them in that business? Should they be in that business?
And that's that's that's a whole other type of discussion

(50:35):
from the take care of the information and and adjudicate
properly once you have it, you know. But but I
I get that philosophy of the NFL be in that business.
But let's just say the NFL is like any other business.
Let's just say it's it's here and all kinds of
video surface of somebody on our network doing something bad
and it was really bad and embarrassing, and supposedly they

(50:58):
looked into it, you know, a few to go, but
they didn't because whoever it was as a big star
in the radio and made a lot of money. How
embarrassing is that? How awful is that? That? There? Anywhere
you anywhere you work, you should say, well, we want
to look into that, but it would look it would
look awful, though, Oh we just decided to turn a
blind eye. To it because so and so makes money
for us. But and that's what the NFL did here. No,
but again it gets into that discussion of if it

(51:20):
doesn't go through the courts and there's no prosecution, you know,
where's that line drawn? And I understand when people get
through that, And it's not in any way going to
Kareem Hunt or any other player in the league and
saying that any of this is by any stretch. Okay, right,
I mean it's it's really just a processing in this case.

(51:44):
The point is that the NFL claimed, at least that
was the The claim was that they'd gone through all
those processes, and it comes out that they didn't push
for anything until after the t mv TMZ video surfaced.
So now you've got that disconnected. Now you've how to
explain that someone's eventually gonna have to get in front
of a microphone. Instead of just releasing statements under cover

(52:06):
of night, someone's gonna have to answer for this and
actually stand up in front of the press. Who knew
what when? What procedure? What policy? What are you following here?
Because they've been so inconsistent in handling all of these cases.
You get six games there's no videotape. You get one game. Oh,
we probably screwed that up, but you know what, you're
a kicker, so you know, I mean, just go all

(52:27):
the way down the line. And then for this, they
didn't seek records until the video was published. The Chiefs
never did because the NFL told them to go away.
So TMZ put the video out final the NFL said,
oh yeah, let's look at that. So it's the question of,
all right, if the league is going to try to
claim that they're gonna be disciplinarians and they're gonna look out,
you know, protect the shield was the mantra for years,

(52:49):
how about you actually do it and protect the women
around the league and and that our fans and and
part of this society. Because you're clearly neglecting that part
of your responsibility. Twitter at how about a frescop Mike
at Swollen Dome. Anybody who want to say, oh, but
the NFL, everybody's got to do list drop off the

(53:12):
dry cleaning, pick up some milk. Here's an idea. Let's
add save hundreds of dollars on car insurance. And the
good thing is you don't have to drop off four
pick up anything. All I have to do is go
to Geico dot com and in fifteen minutes you could
be saving fift more in car insurance, extra money in
your pocket. It just maybe the most rewarding to do
you do today. Coming up next, all the latest news

Fox Sports Radio, Box Sports Radio. Slowing it down a
little bit, Get little lounge e. I'm gonna put on
my jaunty little hat, gonna light a cigarette. Smoke up, Johnny,
one of those real long ones you know that people
used to smoke out of it, A real long one.

(53:59):
Box Sports Radio of The Jason Smith Show with my
best friend Mike Harmen, live from the Geico studios. You know,
smokes not that bad for you. If you a second
through a straw, how about that lose a little shoting
in the process. That was the very first incarnation of vaping.
Have you done a scientific study as to the effects
of a paper straw? That's all the rains, you know,

(54:20):
That's one thing I got all right real quick before
we get it, we got Jason call on the way
in a second. If you bring me a drink in
a restaurant and you give me a paper straw, I'm
gonna throw it in your face. Don't give me a
paper straw in the face. No, it's I know, it's
like the No, I know, it's the new thing to
do now, to go. Oh, hey, here's the cool holiday
paper straws that are read and green and the and

(54:41):
they have this swirl thing. But all they do is
is break down. I'm not putting paper in my drink.
It could be a paper straw. Give me a non
biodegradable plastic straw that's gonna be around forever that not
even cockroaches can eat. You really, yes, give me give
me that good non biodegradable duke wolfing down those grease payers,

(55:06):
those biodegradable you give oophone rappers, And you give me
a paper straw and I'm like, no, I'm just feeling
I gotta drink it so fast before the paper breaks down.
Why would you do that? I don't understand. I'm just
a regular show editor in chief at fansided dot com

(55:27):
NFL inside, a friend of the show, and a man
who is gonna start his appearance by telling us how
Andrew luck is still the m v P, despite the
fact he put up zero points against the Jaguars last Sunday,
Jason Cole the floor is yours. Well, I mean the
fact that he was unable to score with the impact
on their inability to win the game, which shows the

(55:49):
value of him as quarterback. Wow, you know what you got, Lawyer.
You should be the GM of the Jets with that.
That's great speed right there. You want to be in
charge of the NFL. S been a few gems coming
out of this past weekend too. I was talking about
Scout yesterday. He was like, I was, we're discussing, like,

(56:12):
we're discussing a bunch of like GM candidates, like these
guys who are like popular names and so, so what's
this a guy like in the meetings? He goes, well,
he knows the stats. I go, what does that mean?
He goes, you're watching film, because well he'll tell me.
He goes, this guy had ten carries for seventy eight yards.
And I'm like, yeah, what does that mean? He goes, well,

(56:34):
he knows the stats. I go, does he know what
a player looks like? Already just plays fantasy? That's how
I mean. I'm eligible, Like like this guy is supposedly
now we're talking about is like a shortlist of like
up and coming GM candidates, And I'm like, are you serious?

(56:56):
He goes, yeah, he goes he didn't know a player,
but he knows all this. That's like, oh uh, this
league is so great. Frostburg could be GM in the charge.
You know how many Keenan Allen stacks thousands do you?
Can you imagine? Like Frostbury is like a champion on
fantasy football. He would totally run the Packers right now

(57:18):
here you go. Winston Moss calls out, leadership, calls out everybody, said,
we need some Lombardi stuff up in here, and then
he gets fired. Lombardi stuff, We need eight for thirty
five for four hundred three yards and six touchdown passes. Yeah,
that generally helps, but I think he actually mean they

(57:40):
he did Michael Lombardi. I think that's what he was
talking about. Michael Lombardi. Boy looks not get started on that.
And there we go down the rabbit hole. All right,
who do you who do you pair with with Aaron Rodgers?
When it's all said done, um on a serious are
a less serious? So you can go, why don't you

(58:02):
give us the less serious the only two guys don't
say urban Meyer or Todd Balls, Oh I can do
like urban Meyer like people like the funny thing is
people like urban Meyer great Cleveland Green Band, Like do
you ever watch people coach, like do you realize like
there's nothing that he does on offense which translates to

(58:24):
the NFL at all, Like he's just a recruiting maniac.
He's got a few tricks up to sleep, like that
option stuff. Can you mention if like Aaron Rodgers, like
they they do this spread option stuff and Aaron Rodgers
watching goes, this is not an offense? What do you
actually have? And then urban Meyer just he just explodes

(58:47):
like mean because he because he gets exposed for being
a fraud when it comes to XS and as um.
On a serious note, like and people are talking about McDaniels.
A problem with McDaniels is he believes that his system
is quarterback agnostic and like he believes like I can
win with like Brian Hoyer as he's as I can

(59:09):
win with Tom Brady and so like if you handed
him a great quarterback again other than Brady, like that
would go against his whole theory and he wouldn't be
able to prove himself. So I just don't see that
happening either, unless they're willing to throw a ton of money.
But I don't know how this one's gonna work out
for the Packers right now. But they're going to get

(59:31):
the top guy. Whoever, whoever the number one guy available is,
he's gonna want to work with Aaron Rodgers. Let me
throw you my two guys, I think, tell me what
you think you know at you because you can't just
take somebody who is a you know, the up and
coming next young great offensive mind when he's what he's doing.
Because because Rodgers the thirty five. So I'm gonna say

(59:53):
Bruce Arians, Gary Kubiak. Obviously some health things have to
be worked out to make sure, but Bruce Arians, Gary
Kuby Arian's um not so much because he's like such
a you know, like he just wants to check it
long all the time. And they're more precision, you know,
like I would rather have a guy who does some

(01:00:14):
West Coast stuff, So like, to me, Kubiak fits a
lot better. Plus the offense that Kubiak would build would have,
you know, like a lot more movement. The only problem
with Kubiak is like he's kind of stiff, and I
think that Rogers needs a guy who can intellectually challenge him.
Like the great mistake that Mike McCarthy has made the

(01:00:35):
last four years not that he didn't change the office
and you know, the whole thing about keeping up at
the times, which I think is kind of silly, but
he didn't pretend that he was doing that to make
Aaron Rodgers think, oh, we're doing all these neat wonderful stuff,
because he's like throwing in an extra play to get
me a think about stuff. McCarthy just did the same

(01:00:55):
old stuff, the same old routine. And you can't do
that with a mark on like Rogers. I mean, you
gotta you gotta give a you gotta show a few tricks.
I'm really kind of interested, and they've gotta be about
the smart guy and offensive guy and a guy who's
really experienced in general. Hawks Boards Radio Jason Spit Show

with Mike Karmen Company from the Geico Studios on the
Hotline with us editor in chief Fansided dot Com Friend
of the show, Jason Cole. Find him on Twitter at
Jason Cole sixty two. All Right, so Friday, the Chief's
release Kareem Hunt. It comes out all these different layers
and now the league well didn't put anything in for

(01:01:41):
documentation until after the TMZ video had surfaced. I'll just
let you take it go ahead, Like what's the idea here,
Like I feel like we're watching like an episode of
Gilligan's Violent, where like you just whatever comedy you can

(01:02:03):
get out of something that's supposed to be relatively serious
you end up getting because the NFL doesn't decide that
they really wanted to do a serious asveisification over they
want to back off, and they seem to vacillate all
the time because it's like you didn't sit down with
Kareem Hunt. Really, they didn't talk to the woman involved either.

(01:02:26):
They didn't pursue the report until you drop the video
that well, he's the problem with the video one. And
this is where I side with him, Like obviously you're
gonna talk to Kareem Hunt, like you should have like
gone to talk to him by like the latest was
like March right, like some time between when this happened

(01:02:48):
in like March fifteenth. Okay, we found this out, we're
gonna be visiting with you, it's time to have a discussion, okay, kareem,
and then you know, keep tabs on everything else. I
mean they yeah, that's just standard operating procedure. Now, the
woman I think they did try to reach out to,
she declined, Um, okay, you've done your due diligence on
that one and the tape. Like I get where there's

(01:03:12):
a problem on the tape because I wouldn't want to
pay for it. Now. Somebody wants to volunteer to give
me information of all for it, but it's a thing
I gotta go pay for it. I don't want to
go down the t MC path because that puts I'm
intentionally like having to go do all this clandestine stuff
where I'm finding employees of hotels or find cops and

(01:03:33):
trying to do all this surreptitious stuff that I think
puts people in trouble for their jobs, right, And I
don't think that that's a good idea. Plus, the other
thing is that you start paying for this stuff. I mean,
people are going to hold you up for it, and
they're gonna play bidding. Ward's like, oh TMZ offered ten
how much you can offer him? Like, right, but you
can you can find a cop or somebody to take

(01:03:54):
tell me what's on the video. Okay, you didn't hear
it from me, but you can absolutely stuff like that.
You can. You can along the way saying okay, well
this is what Kareem Hunt telling me this job with
what you have seen, that is absolutely true. And they're
not doing that, and it's they are kind of making

(01:04:15):
it up as they go along. And when you do
that kind of stuff, I mean, and and then they're
not talking about it. They're trying to defend their position.
It's all bad. I think they just don't. They don't
get it right. Even when they try to get it right,
they go too far. Yeah, like Ezekiel Elliott. They went

(01:04:36):
too far on that case, and then not far enough
on on Ray Rice, and now they didn't go far
enough on Kareem Hunt because they're compensated. I mean, it
drives me insane. Just come up with it and says
here's the other one. Always recognize you can't. You're never
going to do a great job of investigating your own

(01:04:56):
people because people are either a going to believe that
you didn't go hard enough after people because you're trying
to protect them, or you went too hard because you're
trying to make a point exactly what I'm talking about.
So what they want to need to do is the
NFL Players Association and say, okay, can we go hire
independent investigators so that we'll just pay those people and

(01:05:16):
they follow a set of a set of rules. They're
independent of both of us, and they did a report
to us. When they're all done, you know, case comes up,
the detectives go, they build us all sorts of money,
whatever it costs. You know, Robert Muller comes along and
after he's done, you know, looking at Michael Cohen whatever,

(01:05:38):
and you know, then you know, they come up, They
come up with their investigation. Both side the look at it,
and you decide from there what you're supposed to do.
Like that would be a good way to do it.
The point is that they can't get any kind of
agreement with the NFL Players Association over anything, So it's
it's all bad. It shouldn't be old internally, it should

(01:06:01):
they should come up with an independent investigation, but they
won't because they don't know how to get that accomplished.

the Dodgers meet with Bryce Harper or not? But first
let's find out what's trending with dev Carson d C. Hello, guys, well,
Urban Meyers stepping downs Ohio state head football coach following
the Rose Bowl. It'll be offensive coordinator Ryan Day taking

(01:06:42):

tonight they've hired Alabama offensive coordinator Michael Locksley as the

Cliff Kingsbury will become the new offensive coordinator at USC
in former Clemson the quarterback Kelly Bryant is finally disclosed

(01:07:03):

He was sixteen and two as the starter for the Tigers,
leading them to last year's College Football Playoff, but was
replaced by freshman Trevor Lawrence as Clemsons starting quarterback early
this season. In Tuesday's Discover Card key matchup, the Toronto

So if you remember last night we talked about the
raising the stakes for the Bryce Harper derby. Many teams
are involved in Bryce Harper now, who turned down a
ten year, three million dollar extension from the Washington Nationals,
testing free agency got the winner meetings in Vegas. Bryce

(01:08:28):
Harper lives in Vegas. Teams and their representatives are going
to Vegas now to try to woo him, and it's
become a thing. As many as a dozen teams are
involved in the running for Bryce Harper. One team may
not be and one big team maybe after what we
heard today. Sources reported earlier today the Yankees now getting

(01:08:49):
heavily involved in potentially going after Bryce Harper, which you expected.
What about the Dodgers who told you last night? Jeff
Passion of Yahoo Sports reported Magic Johnson was part of
a can tingent in Las Vegas to help woo Bryce Harper. Well,
apparently Magic Johnson wasn't us to Bryce Harper. According to

(01:09:10):
Jeff Passon, who updated his article last night, the only
time I remember meeting Bryce Harper was on the field
at Dodger Stadium two years ago when Dusty Baker introduced us.
This was Magic Johnson giving his little retort to Jeff Passon.
After this story started to break, big time last night.
Magic Johnson has said he did not have any such

(01:09:31):
get together with Bryce Harper, So it doesn't mean the
Dodgers didn't. Just means Magic Johnson didn't and their interest
level in Bryce Harper now is are they there? Are
they not? But here's the thing is that whether the
Dodgers are in or not is irrelevant because so many
teams are in that can pay him, so it really
doesn't matter. It's not like, boy, we need a team

(01:09:53):
to get in here that's gonna pay it. So it's
not like, you know, like Kirk Cousins needed the Jets
to give him his first offer so they knew, Okay, Vikings,
now go beat this. You know, we need we need
a Patsy, we need a special Delivery Jones. We need
somebody to come in that we're just gonna use and
then move on from them. They don't need that because
there's so many teams who know what the money is
going to be and they're all in on it. If

(01:10:16):
none of these teams, the White Sox, the Phillies, the Yankees,
the Cubs, the Padres, the Astros, the Cardinals, if none
of these teams wanted in, they wouldn't be linked to it,
it would beat No, we're not going to give him
ten years and three million dollars. So it's really irrelevant
because any of these teams would pay all that kind
of money. And like we said, he's the Levy on
bell Of and Mage League Baseball. You give Scott Boris

(01:10:37):
the most money, that's where he's gonna go. No. And
that's the thing is that you're talking up to a
dozen teams, and the Dodgers they've got a bunch of
young guys that they're gonna have to pay. So where
they're at not that they don't have piles of money, right,
We've talked about this quite often, is that they've got
brinks trucks just sitting and waiting if they should decide
to spend as much as people say, quote unquote, this

(01:10:57):
regime isn't going to spend money. That's not how they offer. No. No,
there they it's there and they can always tap on it,
like going to a relief pitch or whenever they need to.
But you've got a dozen teams. Philadelphia has been quoted
as saying, we know what's gonna cost quote stupid money
to get in on this. The White Sox and and Tony,
the Cubs are hanging out there. The Padres haven't spent

(01:11:18):
money and forever they're ready to jump in. So it's
now like an auctioneer, and the Dodgers can push it
because they and well the Yankees. Yankees doing some stuff
on the television side, perhaps preparing for a guy like
Bryce Harper to come in, but making some moves that
way that you know they've got the the cash and
the arsenal to go make make a big splash. So

(01:11:42):
it's all just a question of well, what's the end digit? Right?
Is it another? Are we going by ten millions when
we're up the bidding, or is it by fives that's
really it? Or do we actually get to that magical
mythical Can we get there and make sure we gotta
take magic? John send out his word, guys, when he
says he wasn't in Vegas. It's not like magic whatever tampered.

(01:12:05):
Oh you are right about that. He is above Take
him out his word. He was never there. He's above board.
Was he on Jimmy Kimmel this week? I forgot, I
don't know. I don't watch because he's done because he's
done those before, right, that's how he got in trouble
out you think Frostberg's doing doing He might have been
looking and scanning the upcoming guests on the late night shows,

(01:12:27):
wondering Keenan Allen and his beard. Just guys forgot fourteen
reception Sunday night. Yeah, well, yeah, no, no, give me
give me a keen and Allen stad You have a
lot of Keenan Allice. That's give me another one. Oh,
he's got the best beard on the team. Okay, that's
a good stat. That is a good stat. Okay, you
don't know, you're not nice. You don't even know him. No,

(01:12:48):
I don't claim to know him. I just know I
said you were creepy. For now that you're going through
a deep analysis of the member of the Chargers beards.
All Right, you and I frost ready for a bet.
I'll let you take either side. Do you want the
big showdown against the Chiefs next Thursday? Do you want
what number is gonna be greater the number of children
Philip Rivers is gonna have by the draft, Or Keenan

(01:13:11):
Allen catches against the Chiefs. Oh, Keenan Allen catches. You
gotta get ten, You gotta get to got to get nine. Yeah,
but I mean you gotta be more than nine the push, right,
you gotta be. If it's a put push, you gotta win, though,
I mean do win. You gotta get the ten. Come on,
you're taking Keenan, all right, so you're taking that time.
I'll take Philip Rivers kids by the NFL draft, will
bet a bollow tie on it, all right? Oh? I

(01:13:32):
like that. By the end, number nine is on the way,
right right, that's what I mean by the NFL draft.
By no, no, no, but I mean congratulation. Yeah, number
nine is on the way. So we're sure it's not
twins yet. Uh. They just said number nine. They just
said number nine, They said number I think by now
they know number eight, number eighth, number eight. So I'll

(01:13:54):
take that. I'll take that. You're gonna lose, but yeah,
you're going to lose. Twitter, And now about a Fresca, Mike,
It's and Dome coming up next? How about something a
little different? Really we speed it in other than bets
on catches versus kids. Uh, we've been spending a lot
of time in the last couple of days wondering where
who was going to replace Mike McCarthy in Green Bay.

(01:14:16):
How about I tell you exactly where Mike McCarthy is
gonna wind up coaching next season. That's a twist. Santa
Claus comes down the chimney, we will know where Mike
McCarthy will be in. I will tell you next on Fox.

(01:15:03):
We have spent a lot of time the last couple
of days talking about who's gonna wind up coaching in
Green Bay replacing Mike McCarthy. I've told you, Bruce Arians,
Gary Kubiak, it's got to be somebody with cash at
of a thirty five year old Aaron Rodgers. It's not
gonna be a young genius with a system. No, it's
someone to come in that has that cash, a that
is an offensive minded coach. And you can't just get

(01:15:25):
blood from a stone because as much as there are
good young offensive coordinator possibilities out there, you can't just decide, well,
he's young and he must be great, like Sean McVeigh.
I mean, you can't just do that. I think we
saw the big push with McVeigh and Shanahan and you think, Okay,
there's a bunch of guys out there, and maybe there's
not for a young quarterback, maybe sure, but for a

(01:15:46):
guy like Aaron Rodgers, gotta go that way. But now,
where's Mike McCarthy gonna end up. I'll tell you exactly
who he's gonna end up coaching next season. He's gonna
coach the Jets, Jaguars. He's gonna coach to the Jets.
He will trade green and yellow for green and white.
It's just going to work. McCarthy is still a good
coach when it comes to offensive strategy and dealing with

(01:16:12):
a new relationship with a quarterback. He needs somebody younger
that he can mentor and bring along. Look, Aaron Rodgers
is tough to get along with and you know sometimes
that happens. Relationships run their course. Now does Mike McCarthy
make curious decisions sometimes? But no, none worse than Todd bowls.
Oh we're down fourteen with three minutes left and it's
fourth and ten. Yeah, we're punting. But Mike McCarthy is

(01:16:36):
known for his offensive acumen. He brought Aaron Rodgers along,
they went to Super Bowls, he won Super Bowl, He's
been to NFC Championship games. I'm not someone who forgets
where I came from. If you can bring me that
reality to the Jets, I'll sign up for it. I'll
sign up for for a f C championship games and
one Super Bowl in ten years. I will sign up
for that. And Sam Donald is the perfect fit for

(01:16:57):
Mike McCarthy. And the Jets are an organism ation that
wants someone to come in and say I got this.
Because Woody Johnson's in England, as you know, as as
Trump's official in that country, while his brother runs the team,
and you have a GM and Mike mccagnet that you

(01:17:20):
don't know how much confidence there is in and it
was a range marriage with Todd balls. You want someone
to come in that Okay, this guy's got it. Now,
this guy is I understand he's gonna be running things,
the player percentage of it and the team standpoint of it.
I contry. You don't have to get involved. I don't
have to worry about players not performing or making stupid
mistakes like they still do under Todd Bowls. Mike McCarthy's

(01:17:42):
that guy that oozes I'm in control here, and he
will be the Jets new head coach. Well, you're not
looking for flashy. You're looking to get to stability and
respectability and not looking for a short term fix. Right.
You're you're not saying, hey, we need to make a
big splash, because that that's not getting you over in
the New York Right, You're still losing out to Odell

(01:18:04):
Beckham Jr. Whenever he does next, and the gushing oversea
Kwon Barkley, the mocking of the Knicks, all those other
stories of the resurgence of the Mets come on and
the Yankees and everything they're doing. You're still losing the
battle for media supremacy no matter what you do. But
what you're trying to do is set things up so

(01:18:25):
when Tom Brady finally does age, assuming he's not a
cyborg like Lebron James that you're ready to take that
mantle and become the team and eat Buffalo Bills, aren't there?
They just cut like five more guys. Your cut, your cut,
your cut, and people can wait to go after Calvin

(01:18:45):
Benjamin as he got out the door Miami. Is Adam
Gates gonna be the guy there that turns that thing around? No,
so here's your Jets opportunity to stabilize and push forward.
Get Sam Donald the tutelage. He needs to do a
lot of work with that roster still, But it makes
sense right a guy that will listen Aaron Rodgers tun

(01:19:07):
anybody out. But unless you're the super genius coming in,
he's out on it and the other job he's going
to be linked to as the Browns. But there's gonna
be a lot of trepidation where coaches are gonna go.
Is Baker Mayfield a guy I can coach? Am I
am I worried? Not so much. He's a coach killer.
But what am I gonna have to worry about with him?
Is he gonna be someone that buys in? Is he

(01:19:28):
gonna be someone if he doesn't buy and will start
doing things himself. That there's gonna be that trepidation where
they're gonna go Sam Donald's more coachable, I can be
in charge of this organization. This is how it's gonna go.
So the Jets job will be much more attractive because
of that, because Baker Mayfield is still a wild card.
When it comes off, you can get coaches say, oh,
I'd love to get to coach Baker Mayfield. But the
real okay you want to do it, it's how well

(01:19:50):
do I really know this guy? Is he going to
be someone that when things get bad? Is that raw
rack acts still gonna work? If we lose four in
a row? I mean things are right now because they're winning.
They've won four games and never done that before. How
are things gonna go? There's that when it comes down
to and you say go coach Baker Mayfield or Sam Donald,

(01:20:10):
people are gonna go, Yes, Sam Donald. Sam's gonna be
easier to uh to coach. Right, He's got the well
there you go, he's got the quarterback mantra down. I'm
gonna give you nothing. In interviews, there's not a lot
of flavor with Baker Mayfield. You saw what happened with
Hugh Jackson. You saw what he was doing with the
coaching staff before all of that blew up and they

(01:20:30):
were out of town. So certainly, uh, there's there's a
lot to love about the athleticism, but probably some trepidation
as well. Twitter at how about a Fresca Mike at
Swollen Dome coming up next? One quarterback you are not
going to see in the NFL after the news today.
This is Fox Yes, Syracuse beating Northeastern tonight. I mean

(01:20:50):
Northeastern Northwestern doesn't matter too for Northwester sixty two sixty
you're five, I don't number five, Michigan taking him down
last second shot comes off the I know a lot
of games are tough losses for Northwestern. I'm noticing it's
like every game, every tough loss for Northwestern. That's a

(01:21:10):
tough loss. That's tough loss. Right there. I'll tell you
that's a tough loss. When I become the punching bag
and Punchy over there with his Los Angeles charges that
everybody still refers to as the San Diego Chargers, everybody
has in the three people the broadcasters charge us, so
three people, you know, you watch it's a copycat league.
You watch how many teams now take that whole white

(01:21:32):
tackle fall, start touchdown play and start putting some pretty
good play it if you can get away with that
having to three steps. As Mike Prayer told us yesterday,
lulled him asleep. Wins, a win a gift. It's a look.
I'll tell you, I'll be honest with you, because like
we're putting, we're putting this past week to bed and
and we're moving forward. I'm not well, nobody, here's the thing.

(01:21:54):
Is that what we got to because hey we got
Titans Jags coming up. Yeah, we gotta put this week
to get when we get back to that traditional Thursday
night fair, don't we that's good? Just replay Bears Giants.
What this is like was entertaining. This is like a
throwback Thursday game to when the NFL would put really
bad games on and it was always Jacks Titans. We

(01:22:14):
played our we did our college in the regionality game
for a number of years and then it went to
Fox and it went away for it for a while.
But you know, they've got to remind you of what
you once had. Yes, you gotta have one of those
on this SDY. You used to used to be force
fed this every week. Although both of these teams were
supposed to be Juggernauts, weren't they They were supposed to
be battling for We're not supremacy. The thing is, you're

(01:22:38):
not really celebrating like, hey, these are the the good
old days. No, this is when, oh the NFL used
to be able to put Jacks Titans on and get
fifteen million people to watch. You can't do that now.
I just at six and remember we're down to the final.
Do you really you celebrate Jack? You do really, really,
really well Corey Davis Marcus Mariott, as the Commission once

(01:23:01):
called in the Jaguars, how soon do they throw their
helmets off and start fighting each other? I mean, there's
a lot of stuff going on here. But before before
we get to the latest quarterback news, the biggest win
from this week in the NFL clearly was the Chargers.
They went from a team, look, we told you week
three of the regular season watch out because the schedule

(01:23:24):
lines up for them to go on a big run
because they played a lot of crappy teams and then
other people after they want a couple of games going.
You know, the Chargers are a team that's gonna win
a lot of games throughout. Yeah, that whatever I put it,
I put them in for a Super Bowl pick. So
I was already on board that. We told you that,
because that's that's a big thing is the schedule is
the biggest masker of how good a team is. If

(01:23:45):
you happen to be an average team or just tiny
bit above average, you have an easy schedule, you can
make a lot of Hey, but what happened on Sunday
they showed they can win facing adversity because this game
was over. They were down twenty three six and a
half time, and that's it. Pittsburg was in there more
than in their in their lifetime, whenever they were up

(01:24:06):
at least sixteen points, they've never lost. Going back to
the Stone Age, you know, they played in the cold,
hostile environment, no Gordon, they could have quit. And now
I've gone from advantage of a bad schedule to now
they're legit when they got saved by Justin Jackson. Now
Northwestern they can win the a f C. Not out

(01:24:26):
of the realm that they can win the a f
C West, They're gonna have to beat the Chiefs football. Yeah,
I mean this week Jackson, Hey, Charges, chief, what are
you talking about? But he kicked them the car. I
didn't kick anybody. Just said they were lucky. I said
they got lucky this week. Are you Are you gonna
not You're gonna deny that. You know, you're gonna deny

(01:24:48):
the seven points off the steers start. You're gonna deny
the fact that you guys crashed into each other. And
Keenan Allen said, oh look what I got. And then
you had the nonsense of three straight penalties at the
end of the That is ridiculous. Was the most absurd
thing I've ever seen. Hey, Frost teams ever period. You
got another Keenan Allens that En Allens that I'll get

(01:25:08):
back to you. Yeah, luck and luck doesn't play anything
any of this. Hey, they got a victory. Clearly. They
went from being hey, there, you know, I don't know
how good the Chargers are, but they're gonna have a
great record to now they're legit. And as Joey Bosa
starts getting back into real football shape, he's gonna have
a boomerang effect that happens to all players who've been

(01:25:29):
out for a while trying to come back. Later in
this season, their defense is going to amp it up.
They'll stay hot watch out. This could be another patented
Chargers hot finish. But the difference this year is that
they didn't go oh and four to start the season,
and he didn't give away game. They got lucky. They
got lucky, they didn't go four reference one game and

(01:25:50):
he gets all but hurt like it's a whole season.
Calm down over there, Anthony Lynn now talking about the
return of Joey Bosa is like an guy have you know,
tan eleven games under their belt and they're they're beating
down East fresh leg. So it's a nice advantage to
have down the stretch. If hang on, if there was
a fight, would you take Harmon or would you take

(01:26:12):
frostbo I don't fight with pretenders now, oh now see
the sea is I would go with Mike because I
feel like Justin does the barking and Mike's just like
I'll do the talking. No, but here's the thing I
think Mike would be that he would and then but
then Frostburg would you know, he would be losing for
like thirty seconds and he would say screw it and

(01:26:33):
pull out a foreign object. Throw Keenan Allen stats like
they were, and he's most likely a foreign object or
a threatened loss when one of those two things is
coming down. Katana Blade, whoa Frostberg watch out? Yeah? No,
frost said, yeah, I'm not messing around anymore. And he
would just pull out something that would be it for Harmon.
That's a good point. That would be it. Deflated calves

(01:26:54):
and all. He would deflate your I mean, you'd go
for the He's just don't question about that. I'm trying
to do it. Deflating. Is that a good sound effect? Now?
That sounded like you were going to blow up the
death start. There's no fighting here. Just take back what
you said and it's all good. It was a lucky,
hard it was a hard fought win. Don't get not

(01:27:16):
get a victory wherever you can. Don't don't tell me
you didn't have a couple of breaks that really went
your way. Odell Beckham's about to throw another touch down.
Radio fight, radio fight, radio fight, radio fight, radio fight
versus employee. There's there's a difference in the fight as well.
Radio fight, radio fight, so its been caught up in this.

(01:27:39):
This is better than any Facebook fight I've seen in
the last couple of weeks Fox Sports Radio. In this corner,
I'm Jason, he's Mike. That's Frostburg sharpening. The Bears lost
eight Giants. It really crushed my soul, despite the fact
Odell Beckham Jr. Tried to give you the game by
saying he did, I don't really want this. I don't
want The only thing that really didn't make an sense

(01:28:00):
to me was after all that momentum, that the defense
that everybody was so high on in Chicago laid down
and gave up a field goal and kind of kind
of died hot for a long time. You lost the game.
That's kind of how I look at you. Was hot.
I thought it was coming. I thought Sunday was a
bit look notro bisky. It was gonna be tougher to
score points. I didn't quite think it would come down

(01:28:20):
that way though the Giants got lucky. They did, There's
no question about it. I love how angry he gets
really is kind of entertaining. All right, somebody I mortally
wounded him. Somebody on Twitter has to put up a
fight poster of Frostberg versus Harmon, So we need that
right now, Twitter at how about a Fresca go with

(01:28:44):
the story last night involving the Redskins turning to Mark
Sanchez as their quarterback following the broken leg to Alex
Smitch Alex Smith, which turned into the broken leg to
Colt McCoy. And now it is Mark Sanchez bringing in
Josh Johnson who hasn't played in the NFL and I
think three years. Yeah, it's been a minute, um, But

(01:29:04):
the big name that came up today was Colin Kaepernick.
Was Kaepernick gonna get a call from Washington? This is
interesting because the Redskins, as much as it looks like
their season is over, there's still only a game out
of first place in the NFC East, but Colin Kaepernick
won't be joining the Redskins. We're talking about Colin, Yeah,
you know. But we want to try to have somebody
with a similar skill set, either a that or be

(01:29:26):
have somebody is familiar with the things that I've done
in the past with terminology. Because it's such a short week,
uh plan after playing Monday night, get up to speed
and to have two different sets of offenses is almost
impossible right now to try and get taught. So first
of all, let's realize he said we want someone with
a similar skill set to what we have, So that
means you want someone with a similar skill set to

(01:29:47):
Mark Sanchez. Just let that sit for me. Yeah, there's
no other there's no other thing that's needed. Just realize
you want someone who's got a similar skill set to
Mark Sanche. He was one last night. How many points
did you put up in the second half? It wasn't good. No, no,
it wasn't. So just realize that now Colin Kaepernick, he's

(01:30:07):
not going to play again. Whether you believe he was
blackballed from the league or not, that is irrelevant because
right now he's got his lawsuit for the NFL is
ramping up. Jason Lackinford told us last night, everybody is
figuring out times when they're gonna testify me. This is
gonna be He said, it's gonna be a big blank
show for the NFL because it's not going to paint

(01:30:30):
them in a good light. And this is gonna come out.
But now this is happening because it begins right after
the first of the year. But more importantly is this
the guy hasn't played in two years. And you can say, yeah,
Josh Johnson has a plan, but the point is Colin
Kaepernick hasn't played in two years. This is December, there's
four games left in the season. Is Colin Kaepernick gonna

(01:30:52):
come off the sideline, come in and start. Remember, they
don't want Josh Johnson to start. They wanted to back
up Mark Sanchez. Is he really gonna come in and
be that guy? Alright, It's not like he's been out
of the league for eight or nine weeks like Sanchez was.
He's been out of the league for two years. By
the time he comes in and gets set up and

(01:31:12):
gets familiar, there's gonna be two games left in the
regular season, maybe one. Right, you're talking about a guy
coming off the street where he hasn't played in two years,
and he's gonna make nobody. Nobody's gonna come in and
start and make that kind of difference. These are the
guys you're bringing in to be your backups now, And
if you're not bringing in Colin Kaepernick, decide why would
you bring him in? At this point? It's just not
no matter what you feel, you gotta realize it's over.

(01:31:34):
You gotta let it go. You gotta let Colin Kaepernick go.
He's got his day in court coming up. The after
the first of the year, and that's who you want
to focus on because his NFL career it's over. You
gotta realize he's just not going to get a chance.
Josh Johnson, you're number one overall picked by your San
Diego Fleet. The a F Poor San Diego. They lost

(01:31:54):
the Chargers. Now they're losing Josh Johnson. Yeah, the Alliance
of American foot All uh, number one overall picks. So
he leaves. I mean, he was in Cincinnati and Tampa
with Gruden. So there's that second part of the equation
that Jay Gruden led let off when he did his
three D words when he could have just said, no,
he's not coming next question. But you have, you know,

(01:32:18):
this opportunity to say, okay, he's familiar with the terminology,
let's get the risk band. Because he did a whole
long discussion last night about the wrist band that they
fashioned for Sanchez to make sure he was comfortable and
everything else. So you go down that process. For Colin Kaepernick,
there's just a difference between the the quarterback position as
to what it means from a marquee level versus another

(01:32:42):
guy who's suing the league. Right because Eric Read's grievance continues.
He's back in the league, and people will cite to that,
and like most folks don't know that Eric read as
a grievance with the league. You know, they don't really
put him on the same level Colin Kaepernick from the marketing, merchandizing, speeches,
talking points, columns, everything else, it's him. You wouldn't know

(01:33:04):
there was anybody else really involved unless you follow it
like you do here in sports talk radio, and you
follow sports media at a larger level. Talk to any
man or woman on the street. They know Kaepernick's name.
They may not know all the particulars, but you go
through and and certainly two years up. Hell, I think
Jay Gruden might find just as much success saying here,
take the ball and do something special out there. Then

(01:33:26):
trying to have a guy fit his system at this
point with what they're able to execute on Sundays. But
it's not gonna happen. You've got this huge lawsuit, as
you said with Jason la canfora saying there, you're get
everybody from teams all over the play is gonna come in.
They're gonna be deposed, all sorts of witnesses. It's gonna
be a big deal for the NFL. Somebody's going out.

(01:33:46):
They're making business decisions as well, and then only we
can guess in terms of due diligence as do the
cost benefit analysis has been done, regardless of whether you
think he can play football or not. Twitter at how

Eight seven, seven ninety nine on Fox Twitter at how
about a fresco The Jason Smith Show with my best
friend Mike Harmon. So we find out today really the

(01:37:05):
culmination of what we all thought, or at least what
Mike and I told you back from Week one of
the college football season. Urban Meyer is stepping down and
retiring as a head coach in college football. He will
coach Ohio State in the Rose Bowl and then Ryan
Day will take over this. Yeah yeah, well, remember we

(01:37:28):
heard this rumor a week ago that Urban Meyer was
stepping down, and we what do we get from Ohio State.
There's no truth to this at all. This is I
don't know people print stuff like a week later, Yeah,
urban Meyer is stepping down and and Ryan Day is
uh gonna take over? Yes, sorry about that. I got
so mad last week when I was like yo, but yeah,
this actually turned out to be true. So now that

(01:37:49):
this has happened, we knew this was happening. What does
it mean? And where do we go from here? For
a key, let's take a listen to urban Meyer. What
do he had to say today at his ASS conference.
I've had to deal with the headaches for many years
and came to a head in two thousands of fourteen,
and then again last year and then this year as well.
So has a difficult time. That way was that then

(01:38:11):
have an impact as much on headaches, but it did
have an impact Urban As you sit here now, do
you believe you will not coach again? I believe I
will not coach again. Are you fairly certain? Like? Certainly? Yes? Um?
Do you so? Do you anticipate staying in Columbus and
being around a program? Boop boop boot boot liar baby

(01:38:32):
bap liar liar liar Urban would you say you're on
cloud nine? I'm on cloud nine, straight out of the
simpstence and t J. The press conference had to stop
because urban Meyer's pants caught fire during his speech t J.
So urban Meyer went on to say, yes, I'm not coaching.
He talked a lot about his health, which has been

(01:38:55):
affecting him a lot this season. Now insists Yes, the
irachnoid cyst sounds like, uh, it could be an album
sci fi movie earlier, it could be a diesel vehicle,
the iraq noid since it's coming to get you. It's
a big spider and it's assist But really, do you

(01:39:15):
really believe urban Meyer is done coaching? He's not. This
press conference today was with a tinge of him being mad.
He was mad, I'm leaving, And this was not Hey,
I'm leaving coaching forever. If he was leaving coaching forever,
it would have been something that, hey, here's the story.

(01:39:35):
In a couple of days, we're gonna have a press conference.
We're gonna relive all the best moments of his career. No,
urban Meyer is getting out because it's just like it
wasn't Florida. He won, he won big, but in the end,
it's a program that's beset with either crime or some
kind of domestic violent situation. Which what we have now.
He left Florida and tatters. He's leaving Ohio State the

(01:39:55):
same way, morally bankrupt with everything that was allowed to
go on, not just the Zach Smith stuff, not just
the stuff that went on it for but he does
everywhere he goes. That's what happens, that's his m O.
He knew he was leaving in the beginning of the
season when Ohio State didn't back him and suspended him
for three games for his part and covering up the

(01:40:17):
Zack Smith domestic violence story. He was mad that they
didn't have his back. You're gonna suspend me for three games,
so I guarantee you. He knew then I'm done. I'm
gonna coach this season and I'm walking away. And what
do we see along the way, Hints of his health,
hints of maybe he doesn't stay, Maybe he's done. He
has worn out his time at Columbus. He beat the

(01:40:37):
crap out of Michigan every year, but one, same thing,
Jim Tressel every year but one as they beat Michigan,
and now he's moving on. If he was really done,
it would be more of a celebration of his career
and he would be happy, he would be I'm done,
I've accomplished everything. I'm ready for the next phase of
my life. The guy's fifty four. He's young. He's young,
he's not in his late sixties. And you know what,
maybe you're done coaching. He's fifty four. He's gonna take

(01:41:00):
a year off. He'll go on TV and he will say,
I'm feeling better and you know, my health is great,
and hey, you know what, I kind of like living
in the West Coast. I love the sunshine. Hey, hey, USC,
I'm ready to show up and come back and be
the head coach at USC, which is where we told

(01:41:21):
you he was gonna end up back in September. This
is another bit of evidence that tells you why it's
going to be USC. We know or I don't think
there's any doubt anybody thinks Urban Meyer has really done coaching.
But why is it gonna be USC? A week and
a half ago, suddenly, after a really bad season, Lin
swan USC athletic director, says, we're sticking with Clay Helton.
Well after tearing up back part what the program was

(01:41:43):
had become right. He listed all those problems of discipline
and scheme and recruit and go on all the down,
all the way through. T Martin becomes the the fall
guy for it all, and then he restores Clay Helton.
This was shocking that USC could be open. You could
have many candidates who would like this job. But Lynn

(01:42:06):
Swan shuts it down right away and says, Clay Hilton
is our guy. We're staying inside the family. All right,
little weird why would you do that? File that away? Today?
Cliff Kingsbury, late of Texas Tech, agrees to take the
job as offensive coordinator at USC. Does he want to
be an offensive coordinator? No, the guy can be an
o C in the NFL, But he also wants to

(01:42:26):
still be a head coach in college football. So what
does he do? He takes a high profile short term
gigs O C of the USC Trojans, and if USC
scores points next year, guess what people are lining up
to hire Cliff Kingsbury to be their head coach. So
now Kingsbury comes in what's gonna be a one and
done type situation as long as he's good. So now
a year from now, when Urban Meyer is saying, hey,

(01:42:49):
I'm feeling better, Hey, guess what USC can say? All right,
we still aren't winning, and Urban's gonna come in and
be our head coach, and Cliff Kingsbury can go somewhere
and be a head coach, and Clay Hilton will be out.
You know, people talk and people do things through the
media all the time. There's no way USC makes this
decision not knowing Urban Meyer could be available a year

(01:43:10):
from now. You're trying to play chess and certainly urban Meyer.
We played the clip the responses, do you believe you're
done coaching? I believe I'm done coaching? Like he's going
into a Jedi mind trick between the interviewer and him,
and asked if he was certain. He said fairly certain. Yes,
did not dismiss it all together as you said, no

(01:43:30):
pomp and circumstance, no pageantry. Here's the all the heroes
from your past to come in. This is your life,
Ernon Meyer. Thanks for being our coach and dominating Michigan
all these years. All that other fun stuff didn't happen.
So when when we're looking at down the road, as
you said, mid fifties coach, he's retired a couple of

(01:43:51):
times before. Certainly saw that Chicago Jordan's Sandberg. You don't
want to leave. You want to keep coming back. And
if you can still coach, you still have some thing
to prove you're still And he doesn't care if people
know he's lying when he says that's he's He's the
college football version of Rick Pettina. Whatever you say, I'm
just gonna wink and nod and go. Okay, if you
really think we're gonna believe this, all right, I'll nod

(01:44:13):
my head. But we were talking about the Redskins before.
David Snyder doesn't care about public perception in any of
the moves he makes, and in terms of how he
runs his operation. Likewise, Urban Meyers looking at public opinion
and yeah, maybe he had bristled at it a little bit,
but overall he's about winning. He talks about his work
ethic and trying to turn things over and how that

(01:44:35):
was was a detriment to the program. So he's got
to stay. I can control of everything. So certainly a
year or two to get the batteries recharged for other
jobs to open up will do wonders, and there's unfinished business.
You can tell me all you want, how much money
he has, how much success he has. Everybody would do
it for just a little bit more, of course they would,

(01:44:57):
did you are you're gonna be a little bit more?
That's Levy on Bell and Bryce probably gonna give me
a little bit more yet. And going back, just one
last thing from Joel Klatt when they talked to urban
Meyer ahead of the Michigan game, because he was eerily
calm and relaxed. He said he hadn't made up his mind,
but that this was the direction he was heading. Twitter at,
how about a fresco Mike at Swollen on the Jason

(01:45:18):
Smith Show with my best friend Mike carbon As. We're
live from the Geico Studios. Coming up in one minute,
the next phase of the biggest story in the NFL.
But first let's get the deb Carson with what's trending DC. Well, hey, guys,
The Kansas City Star breaking the news today that the
NFL didn't file a formal request for records of the

(01:45:40):
February Kareem Hunt incident in Cleveland until November, which happens
to be the same day TMZ released video of his
assault incident at the hotel. Report also says that the
chiefs never made a formal request for the records at all,
and with the injury to Colt McCoy. The Redskins news
starting quarterback is Mark Sanchez. Washington set to sign quarterback

(01:46:03):
Josh Johnson to be the backup to Sanchez. Great news.
There's a quick way you could save money. Switch to Geico.
Go to Geico dot com and in fifteen minutes you
could say or more on your car insurance. While we
have talked about the cost of free speech, Packers assistant
coach Winston Moss, who has been associate head coach under
Mike McCarthy since two thousand seven, well today he tweeted, quote,

(01:46:24):
ponder this what championship teams have our great leadership period.
It's not the offensive guru trend, it's not the safe trend.
Find somebody that is going to hold number twelve and
everybody in this building to a hashtag Lombardi standard period.
Hashtag losing sucks. A few hours later, Wilson got a
call from interim head coach Joe philbum let him, letting

(01:46:45):
him know that his services were no longer needed. He
then followed up with a tweet, quote, the Packers have
informed me they are letting me go. Hashtag thanks Twitter
end quote mean, while we've got some coaching news, of course,
in College Maryland announced they are hiring offensive coordinator Michael
Locksley of Alabama. He is the new Terrapinants head football coach.

(01:47:06):
He'd been with the Terrapinants from two thousand twelve to
fifteen and served as interim head coach when Randy Edsel
was fired midway through the season. He live from the
Getic Studios where fifteen minutes can save you fift more
in car insurance called nine four seven Auto. So with

(01:47:27):
Kareem Hunt, we found out toy we talked about this
earlier in the show, that the NFL didn't ask for
a copy of the report from the incident from February
until TMZ published their video on Friday that showed him
pushing a woman, knocking her over and kicking at her.

(01:47:48):
So we told you the NFL is just anybody wants
to defend the NFL, you really can't. They They've decided
to just kind of half ask their way through things
and not look in. Make it look like they're looking in,
but they're really not. But now the next phase for
Kareem Hunt is gonna be what's next. And we've told
you he'll play in the NFL and he'll play in
the NFL. Teams are gonna wait for his punishment and

(01:48:11):
figure out when it went a good time in the
off season at dead time, we can sign him and
bring him in. But now there's going to be three
off field incidents that factor into Kareem Hunt's discipline. This
is what the NFL said earlier today. Do you have
this video from February. You have a bar fight that
we just found out about that involved former NFL running

(01:48:32):
back George Atkinson in which a guy says he was
beating up by Atkinson, Hunt and others at a party.
And then you have another incident from a bar earlier
this year that was somewhat publicized, wasn't hidden, it was
it was a minor one. So all three of these
things are going to get into what the discipline is
gonna be for Kareem Hunt. So just what is he
gonna wind up getting. I'll go bold, I'll tell you

(01:48:53):
where I think it's gonna sit. He's not gonna play
the rest of this year, right, He's gonna be on
the exemp list. The NFL is gonna give him twelve games,
but they're going to say the five games he sits
this year is going to count towards it, because basically
it's a suspension already because he's not gonna he's not
allowed to play. So they're gonna say this time counts,

(01:49:18):
and it's gonna be the five games this year, and
it will end up being the first seven games of
next season, so that's right there. They're gonna kind of
credit him with time served. A little bit with this
is that, Okay, you're sitting and we don't really have
anything because you are. You know, we're still trying to
figure this out. But a team can't sign him and
have him play, can't go to practice, can't do games

(01:49:38):
when you're on the exemplest, so it's kind of like
being suspended already. At least that's what they'll say. They'll
give him twelve games because it will look good. It'll
look well, it's twelve games now for this, but it
will really be the five now, and it'll get the
first seven of next season. He'll be playing by mid season.
They we'll have the fight with the p A over
the perception and what falls out from a twelve games

(01:50:00):
spension when you had bargained for six in terms of
your player conduct policy. So this goes the other way
of the the NFL coming back over the top. I
don't know that they quite go to twelve. I think
if they're gonna stend send a message after being so silent,
they kind of have to come over the top, certainly,
But in doing so they have to explain all their

(01:50:20):
shortcomings in the investigatory process. And I don't know that
Roger Goodell is going to stand up and do that,
or if he's gonna be like the Redskins with Daniel
Snyder saying all right, here's someone else to come do this.
You know, here's the Deputy commissioner to come out and
and have this statement for you so you can pumble
him a bit. So it's it's difficult, right because we're

(01:50:41):
talking about putting justice and how you go through the
personal conduct policy and what the NFL does in terms
of continuity, cohesiveness, and just from being equitable in how
they by these rules, which they haven't done. And I

(01:51:02):
think that's for most the most frustrating thing of all,
like are you in the business of finding out or
are you not? No, then they're not, And and they
keep going one ft in and they put out erroneous
statements of what they've done, and then it comes out
through this Kansas City Star report that yeah, well they
we did submit a request for these records. And then

(01:51:25):
you see the time stamp. Right, Yes, I guess by
letter of the law, yes you did. You asked for
those records, But the time stamp says after the video
was released, until it happened. Right, you've taken down any
of the goodwill from the people saying Okay, the NFL
is actually going to have a hard line stance and

(01:51:45):
get to the bottom of it. And it for Kareem Hunt.
Now he's in the process. The interview on Sunday, the
results were all over the map in terms of how
people read what he had to say and contrite. He
truly was, but you know, he's not playing the rest
of this year. You figured the attack on six, maybe

(01:52:08):
that's seventh for good measure. And then it becomes a bargaining.
It's like an MLV suspension. All right, you got four games,
but you really only have to serve Yeah, but this
is gonna be. This is gonna be where the NFL says,
listening to twelve games, but it's really seven. We could
have given you six, like six is basically now what
the norm is gonna be for situations like that, which
is still too light, but it's what the NFL does.

(01:52:28):
But they'll make it. They'll make twelve to say, oh okay,
we'll make it seem like it's a lot. And meanwhile,
because the NFL p A will say and they will
have to go to whether you like your client or not,
you have to go to so they will say, okay,
so you suspend that. You you can't say we're gonna
suspend him for twelve games and it's the first twelve
games the next season, because you're saying, while he was

(01:52:49):
on the exempt list, he was he couldn't any Now
it's a seventeen game suspension basically, is what you're saying.
So that's there, and and they have every right to say,
all right, that's not really what you're you're suspending guy
now more than a whole season. So you can't do that.
So that's why it's gonna be those multiple games and
they're gonna tack them onto a here's the five to

(01:53:11):
end the season this year, right, And the argument gets
back to the what is a what is that six
game rule that they put in? What does that mean,
because it hasn't meant anything to this point. Right, We've
had uh, the justice, the suspensions all over the map,
and then you got Ezekiel Elliott for six games and
there's still a lot of question as to what happened there.
Here you got a videotape that is now in the

(01:53:32):
public eye and it's been scrutinized for some nineties six hours,
Twitter out, how about a fresco Mike hats Swollen done
The Jason Smith Show with my best friend Mike Harmon.
Coming up next, we got a brand new expansion team
to talk about. What is without a doubt? No, Tim,
I wish you had a spot for it, but what

(01:53:53):
was it? Out of doubt the most fun and best
sports story of the day on the way next on Fox.
Be sure to catch live editions of The Jason Smith
Show with Mike Harmon weekdays at ten pm Eastern, seven
pm Pacific on Fox Sports Radio and the I Heart
Radio app. No, no, no, This is like when you're
out of the club during Christmas and they play Christmas

(01:54:13):
songs you want to dance? Which club are you going to?
Any club? Coming up on stage three? No, not that
kind of club. I just mean no, I don't need
a z no because they're still just playing cherry Pie. No.
This is like when you go out Christmas edition of
cherry Pie Jing King Jing Jing Jing jing Jing cheese. No,

(01:54:34):
this is where you go. You want to disk all
I want for Christmas as you when you're out of
the clock. You did it, you do ginger to the bar,
Ginger to the bar. You got into character. Riah is
on fire. Two for one drinks right now, Kamakazies, don't
forget the buffet still open tonight. Show bar with a

(01:54:58):
buff ah. That's free entrance. You know, you know, I
gotta say, I'm somebody who once went to a bar
Thanksgiving night. Of course he did. He gave out hats,
didn't No, no, no, no, I went to a bar.
This was almost ten years ago because the Jets were
playing Thanksgiving Night against the Bengals and it was a
year one of the years went to the ANC Championship

(01:55:19):
game and NFL network it was NFL Network had the game,
and it was when nobody had NFL network. So the
bar up the street had it. And I'm going, well,
I'm gonna go up to the bar and watch the
Jets games. Thanksgiving night, it was eight o'clock. I'm like that.
And the big neighborhood dive bar. Right, it's like like
one of those bars you walk in and behind the

(01:55:40):
bartender is all the big pickled eggs that have been
there for like thirty years and straight out of most
tavern like I walk in and they go, hey, welcome in.
You know it's it's it's we have a five dollar cover.
And I said, oh, okay, we have the football game,
right and I said yeah, I said, all right, great
if I fight allar color cover, I said sure, So
I figured was with football game. No, it's because they
put out of thanks Giving spread. Sweet. So I had

(01:56:02):
a second dinner. Yeah, you walked away from your family.
I mean, as many people do. I've seen you for
twelve hours. I'll see in hell, I'm going out to
a bar. That happens frequently. The fact that you paid
the extra five bust for the Thanksgiving and it was
two slices of Boar's head and it was Boar's head
is more quality than you're probably getting just typical dive

(01:56:24):
bar where they just put two tables together to put
the heated lamps. I had like the the stern, No
stern there was. I just kicked up, go and get chicken.
It's like going and having a meal in a lot
of the pubs in London. They had turkeys for how
long has that been sitting there? They had chicken, they
had they had they had like every I'm like, wow,

(01:56:45):
thanks for the dances. I'm just here for the now.
There was no dancing. Now are you kidding? Somebody drunk
in the corner after being with her family all day.
This is what doing a little bit of dance. This
is one of those places where you go into the
bathroom when you open the door with your with your
hands on you in your shirt off. Stall had a door. Yeah, no,
that's that's that's the place I was at. But they
had the game. We have the game games. You still

(01:57:07):
got to watch the game that was only five Yeah
we won, we won. It was good and I had
I had to worry about it because you know, the
the Star Wars band was playing and all the aliens
were walking around. I don't like you either. You better
what yourself? Did you draw first? And whatever fight you

(01:57:31):
were having. That's how I got home. I got so
drunk that Han Solo took me home in the Millennium falcon.
Did you pull out your lightsaber? As far as you know,
I did not, although that's the different clumb that he
went to for the after party job. I think I
might have did. I did? I did? I publicly irritated
in the way home. I'm not sure I did once? Wow,
that escalated quickly? Didn't once? From that? I don't know

(01:57:52):
if it was that. I don't know. It was Thanksgiving
night thought no no, no, because I wasn't drinking, so
id because I drove home? You didn't You didn't drink? No?
Because eight or buffet? Wow? Yes, I didn't. A different
A different time I did when I went there with
one of my best friends who came in the town,
and we went. He goes, hey, where's a good bar
in your neighborhood? I said, I don't know, let's go
to this one. Did you have a buffet that day too? No? No, no,

(01:58:17):
that's some chips and some peanuts. And now you just
go to blaze pizza down the street. Oh we gotta
blaze pizza. Story coming up in a few minutes. Still
waiting on Lebron James, are you um yeah, no, no,
that's the bar. I first had a Thug Passion shot
at which was actually really really tasty. I really thought
that was going somewhere in it, and they were really good.
Called Thug Passion. What's also the name of album? Is

(01:58:40):
it really? I don't know. It sounded like, okay, yeah
it is. Actually it's a night show. Isn't really brought
to you by car We treat you like you treat you. Yeah,
it is a trick from the all eyes on me. Okay,
but it was like one, it was like Grandmarner and
something else and something else. I'm like, wow, that's really tasty. Well,

(01:59:01):
and then that's when I walked home because I was andy,
that's what that's the Bug Passion recipe. It's three, it's
it's three, it's three parts champagne. What's the champagne? Might
have been Ali's liquor lights were off. But congratulations to
the city of Seattle as they are getting an NHL

(01:59:23):
expansion team to begin play in two thousand twenty one.
It's just what the NHL needed. It's awesome. They now
have thirty two teams. They can realign. The Coyotes are
gonna leave and go to the Central Division and Seattle
after losing the Sonics. Now they get into the winter
sports team. Hockey will do great in Seattle. It's a
great atmosphere for it. It will do fine. And I

(01:59:45):
maintain the two best names for the new Seattle hockey
team without a doubt are either ri I Seattle kind
of playing off the MLS the the Seattle I p
a s Okay, I like the flannels and plays everything else.
What would look like? Think about those cool jersey giveaways

(02:00:09):
or when they have a special night and it looks
like they're wearing flannel shirts running around. Hell, they could
wear flannel shirts. How about this from Smooth Media the
Seattle salmon tossers, because you know they they had the
fish at this point. Can they just use stock stock footage.
You don't need to see people the same guy for
twenty years, but as an age, look at him. Wow,

(02:00:30):
that's what you get for. How about Oh David says
it's gotta be the Star Pucks. What about the Seattle Prime. Yeah, yeah,
and that'll work. Seattle probably be good Seattle smokers. Instead
of taking a playing cross country, they just ship them
in a box. Will be there one day. Today's gate

(02:00:52):
will be get at four pm Pacific to be Ready
Seattle slew Dead Horror greatness though coming up next, got
a big story on Lebron that affects me personally again.

once again affected my neighborhood. He did. He changed your

(02:01:58):
life again. You remember it was a few months ago
when he promised he was gonna go to Blaze Pizza
my neighborhood. I don't know if he promised he said
Culver City. He did not sign a contract. He did
not say hey, I'll see you there. He tweeted he
was going. And that's the closest Blaze Pizza to where

(02:02:19):
I lived. So I went, and so I mean I
didn't go to get a high. No, No, I drove
by and saw the news, fans, everything made you wait,
and Tree didn't show up. He didn't show up, He
didn't promise, perpetrated a fraud. He tweets Culver City, and
then his wife tweets out a picture of him lounging
in a pool while many thousands of fans are in

(02:02:40):
a hot line waiting in line for a look. He
was sipping a cool drink in his pool. Perpetrated did
not he got you everybody got a free pizza. No,
but he said he said he didn't say he was
gonna be there before, or it was celebrating Lebron James

(02:03:03):
joining the Lakers free pizza, you know, all throughout Blaze Pizza.
And he tweeted back at them Culver City, which may
seem like, Okay, hey, I'm gonna be there. Maybe that
was a struggling. Maybe that was a struggling and he
was hoping people would show up. Maybe we should arrest
in hoping the first guy to ever lie on Twitter
hoping people would show up. So I'm gonna say I'm

(02:03:25):
gonna be there when I'm not. So that's what he
say he was going. He implied he was going come
see I'll see you. He implied he was going. You've
implied the Jets are good. No, I've I've never actually
said what have I implied? The Jets were more than
before the season Week one? Oh yeah, jet Yo Sam

(02:03:45):
Sam Sam. So I did say that shrine to him
over in the corner, the Jets are good. You had
a lock of his hair. It got really weird. No, no, none,
that's all your fake news. It's absolutely true. You are
absolutely on Twitter. You must be true. Then wait a minute,
so out's on Twitter. It's true, right, So we tweeted
out culvert since he didn't he didn't say directly that

(02:04:07):
he was gonna be Why do you think five news
vans and thousands of people were there there? That's only five? Well,
there was a helicopter to wow. Whenever there's a big
traffic star, the helicopter has to come in investive news
vans because you have you know, ABC, NBC, CBS and
the Independence all get their video from the other stations.

(02:04:29):
You have five news vans and l shockers. The four
letters stole other people's content. Lebron James was still not
here at Blase Pizza as we kept their closing time.
A lot of people, Yeah, but they didn't make any
money because I bet you there were a lot of
people still buying eyes You're having just one. He perpetrated

(02:04:52):
a fraud, but now made up for it somewhat. So yesterday,
I'm coach in soccer practice and our soccer practice is
not too far from Culver City High School and where
Culver City Middle School is, and I hear the band
playing and it sounds really loud, and I'm like, boy,
there's a is there a big game tonight at Culver

(02:05:14):
So I didn't I didn't know because I don't know.
And you know, I'm there and some of the girls
they're and their parents there and go well, and one
one of the dad says, you know, I know the
high school is in the soccer final for the first
time in like twenty years. I'm like, oh, that must
be what it is, you know what I I don't know.
So I'm like, all right, that's what it is. And
then I find out the real reason why everything was
so insane, why it sounded so loud, is because brawny James.

(02:05:37):
Lebron James's son made his Los Angeles basketball debut Santa
Monica Crossroads, which is a really hoity toity expensive school
to go to. It's one of those, oh it's eighty
thousand dollars a year to go to middle school basketball
debut playing for Santa Monic Across Roads against Culver City

(02:06:00):
Middle School on Wednesday, and so in our neighbor. Now
we went back and at least there was hopefully Culver
City Middle made some money and all that kind of stuff,
So I can sort of forgive Lebron James a little
bit because more people came. He came to the game
and everything, so it was like wow, I was like,
all right, that's pretty cool. War Dad's number twenty three
and scoring points. A lot of excitement Merriman had by all.

(02:06:24):
But again, I want to get back to this. You've
investigated what it costs to go there, so you're you're
plotting this. No, no, I mean, how do how to Frostburg?
And I get in on that. He went for the
after party after the game there. I'm not going there.
I mean, if you're looking into that and you're you're
talking about costs and and really doing that analysis. No, sorry,

(02:06:45):
it's uh tuition is thirty thousand dollars at all dollar
middles to cross Roads Middle. Yeah, that's per semester. You
got a couple of Lebron James autograph basketballs with that.
I'm not going across Roads Middle. And you know where
they celebrated the wind and I Jason, where they celebrate
You weren't there, you were here, you missed out. I

(02:07:07):
mean those schools, those are just insane and and and
the thing is you expect and you know, I once
went on a tour uh of one. It was a
west side neighborhood school, one of the one of the
schools here in l A. When I was in when
Zoe was like going to be in kindergarten, and we
didn't know and we were looking for schools, and we
decided to take a tour of this. Now when we went,

(02:07:27):
we didn't know the price of the school. And we
went and we thought, oh, this is pretty good school. Okay,
you know, they offered and we went to other schools
they caught all offered the same thing. So we said, oh,
let's take a look at this. And like I said,
I think it was westside neighbor, something like these golden
toilets are nice and so. But it was just like
it was okay, you know, I mean that day it
was it was the same kind of thing as some
of the other public schools. We go, okay, let's look

(02:07:48):
at this. So we went and looked as we didn't
know because they didn't tell you anything on a tour.
You go. She went and looked it up. It was
like Grand Ago for kindergarten. Didn't I'd expect like there
would be like you know, you'd walk past gold mummies
and and panthers and gargoyles, and you walk in and
suddenly the floor is has like rose pedals on it.

(02:08:09):
You walk into class, like dollars maybe you were there
on a slow day. Did you go back and ask
what that money was for? We were done? Okay, we're done.
Well the hell is the investigative reporter? Where's my value?
It was not gonna do. I'm like, we're not gonna
spend twenty five dollars on kindergarten now, like you gotta

(02:08:31):
jump start. I think I think that's a scam. I
think all these school all the kind it's a scam.
They get the same stuff. Get the same You're the
greatest in the history of the world. You get the
same stuff. Anybody has ever gone on a school tour
where you're going, the first couple always stand out because
it's the first couple you go on, and then you
realize in the end, oh, you know the the that
one school that tried to show me that they don't

(02:08:53):
do so many different things, like, well, they kind of
do the same things as all the other school. Yeah,
I really didn't do the free agency tour. Should we
tell Lebrony over pay? I think he's okay. I think
he uh jumped up and down out of his back pocket. No,
I think probably Brown. He's probably paying for himself. He's
probably got the money. Yeah, dad, I got this. Yeah,
I'm all good. I got I got our money driving

(02:09:14):
to middle school he actually did on Lebron's high school
hummer bought. Hey dad, look what I got. I wore
your jersey number and I'm driving your old rig And
the thing is, I I coach girls in my soccer
team that got on the All Star team that go
to Culver City Middle So they're like, like, you know
Lebron James at your school, and so I gotta when

(02:09:36):
I see them at practice later this weekend, was like, no, see,
now you're getting into a weird no to me. Have
you told Zoe to hang out with Brawny yet? You know?
You laugh? You laugh and he's you laugh. But when
we have to pick out our uniform numbers for for
All Stars, Zoe said, oh, if I took twenty three,

(02:09:58):
that's Lebron James and number right. And I said, you
want to wear Lebron James number? She was yeah, is
it really? So she's sleeping on? And then you turned
back and you said, because he's a copycat, because the
greatest player of all time were twenty three and he
wanted to be like Sean Green of the Jets. She
did wear twenty three, but because I told her, I said, Zoe,
I said, what you know, twenty two is Daddy's number.

(02:10:19):
Twenty two, twenty two and ten were my numbers. Wow,
are you stealing Kershaw's number? And I said no, twenty
two before, come on, no, come on, come on. Ten
was my real number though, and that's what she wears
regular season now All Stars. That numbers are different and everything,
And I said, why did you wear twenty two to
twenty two or Lebron James is twenty three, and I'm

(02:10:40):
like or or twenty three, that's that's that's fine. So
just a little better than you, Daddy. Well, I don't know,
as you better than me in soccer, I don't know,
as you better than me? Is he better than me?
And uh yes he's better than me? And hockey I
don't know. No, I don't think you can still throw
from the deep deep hole. Yeah probably could, probably could
a little bit. But now I know I'm losing to

(02:11:01):
You know, Lebron James number lower than what Daddy used
to wear. It was cool, but now it's but ten
also is a very famous soccer number, so it was easy.
I'm like plee war number ten. Ronaldo used to work
were ten and she really likes wearing ten because she
she knows it's a history in it and but now
she can't wear it because she's got to pick a
different one. And I was like, hey, twenty two Daddy's
other number. Now, okay, Lebron James take it. It's a

(02:11:23):
lot on kids. Soccer supposed to be the slide over. Baby,
we're talking about Lebron James. You're the one that got
into whole schools and free agents and all this stuff
and everything else. I didn't bring it back to Ronnie
James soccer again. Sorry, well, sorry, you want to talk
about Sorry, Mike Harmon does not want to talk about kids.
He wants things to be sexy. So let's stop talking

(02:11:45):
about kids and let's talk about sex, because that's what
this hour is about. God forbid, we spend a couple
of minutes to talk about the kids who are our future. No, no, no,
Mike Harman says, screw the children. Blank them. You know something,
most of them are not going to affect anything. Wait wait, wait,
wait enough No, Now he's got a bunch of let's

(02:12:05):
just talk about my name on some of the crap.
You're saying, Oh, that's all you're saying. I did not
say that at all. You're saying, blank, you just did
three minutes on picking a jersey. No, you're saying that
daddy's number and ron James number. You're saying, I don't
care about kids. Just give me the dirty sexy pot.
I want to talk about sex. It's a slide over,
baby out. I'm gonna I'm gonna look at videos and

(02:12:27):
in the break and I want to make sure we
talk about I mean, come on the curtain. Don't see
me bringing up Valley Hayes during this last few minutes,
do you No? But that's Mike Harmon. It's the holidays.
You just really went from a left turn. Here we are.
It's talking about the selection of jersey. You don't see
me talking it's the holidays. I think about presents from

(02:12:48):
my kids, do you, Mike Harmon? No, I don't buy
him anything. I lock him away like Harry Potter. I
put him in a cupboard under the stairs, like a Frostberg.
Hasn't seen that one? What do you do? I watched
Cinemax late at night, and I don't think about doing
good things for kids or anything else. I watched Bad Santa,

(02:13:55):
my bass friend Mike Harmon. This song kind of loses
a lot of teeth when it's not Madonna, I mean
the Dirty Sexy One. Oh no, no, do you know hoo?
Madonna is Madonna? Yes, not the Mother of our Lord.
But the I was gonna say, no, well, he probably
some of the Wait wait, wait, wait, can you name

(02:14:17):
three songs by Madonna? And this one doesn't count because
she remains Okay, girls just want to have fun? That's
Cyndi Lauper. Hold on, there's another one. Remember when the
Donna did girls Doesn't want to have Fun? Captain Leu
Albano was in the video. Yes he wha No, no, no,
she did Lollipop right, no, no, lollipop lollipop, Oh lolli

(02:14:39):
Lollipop was in the fifties. Material girl, Yes, yes, yes,
that's your first one. Really is material? Yeah? I thought
that was weird. Al all right, that's one you get.
You're You're done, aren't you, Um, yeah, because she just
had a big announcement that she's gonna have new music
and probably a two two of her other big ones.

(02:15:02):
Oh no, no, do you believe Ryan? Do you believe
that her two big ones? Uh? You can't always get
what you want? And Stairway to Heaven? Those are other
two big ones. Isn't that a c d C? No,
staring at now, staring it was an a c d C.
Pink Houses was a c d C right right, Cougar

(02:15:27):
Melon Camp. So urban Meyer has decided to retire, but
has he really retired? He decides to retire following the
Rose Bowl and Ohio State names Ryan Day their new
head coach, but it's urban Meyer. Is he really retired?
Where does Cliff Kingsbury leave? And weave himself into all

(02:15:48):
of this? And who's the big quarterback who made a
decision as far as transferring goes earlier today we get
to all of that right now as joining us on
the hot line national college columnists for Yahoo's Sports Pat forty.
You can follow me on Twitter at Yahoo forty and Pat.
I think the big headline today obviously is urban Meyer
is retiring, But is he really retiring? That is the question. Uh,

(02:16:13):
you know, he's tried to retire a couple of times before,
not very effectively, And we'll see what his inclination is
this time. Uh. You know, I don't believe anything Urban
says for the most part. So I my my guest,
after him hearing him not answer those questions very well today,
is that we'll see him again. Maybe a couple of years,

(02:16:35):
maybe three, I don't know, but uh, I this is
he's such a competitor, he's so successful. I think that
he will feel the itch again to coach. Is the
itch going to be in college football? Or in a year?
Could people look at him and say, boy, what a
game day coach he has always been. He could be
the next Pete Carroll. Oh, I don't. I don't see

(02:16:58):
him in the NFL. I think that would be a
really hard adjustment for him. First of all, he lose,
you know, a fair amount in the NFL, and losing
kills him. It destroys his soul. And you know, if
you're if you're twelve and four, you've had a really
good year, except if you're Urban Meyer and then you've
had four cataclysms. Uh. And so I don't see him
doing well there. I also think he's a great recruiter

(02:17:18):
and motivator. I mean, he's his stick works with college kids.
I'm not sure it would work with professional age athletes.
And I know your latest column, Pat went over really
well in the state of Ohio. But the question being
what is it? What is Urban Meyer's legacy? Obviously great
game day coach, dominated Michigan, all these winds pile up,
but a bit more complicated than that. On the larger

(02:17:41):
scale it is. I mean, there's just been a lot
of stuff with Urban all the time. I mean, he
is he's a melodramatic guy. He's a bit of a DV.
He's a bit of a narcissist. And uh, that's followed him.
I mean not only off the field problems with players. Uh,
not only the you know, the Zack Smith disaster at

(02:18:02):
at Ohio State, but then also you know, the health issues.
And suddenly he's retiring at Florida, and then the next
day he's back, and then a year later he's retiring,
and now he's at Ohio State and he's got a
new lease on life, a new perspective, and then seven
years in now he's retiring again. And you know, it's
just there's always something with him. And while you know
that's good for our business. It gives us stuff to

(02:18:23):
talk about right about, but uh, it's just it's not
as easy as just to say, you know, he's riding
off into the sunset, because you just don't know with
him now. Because here's the thing, Pat is that he
he says I'm done coaching. He listening in to talk today,
and all the sound bites he said and all the
things he didn't say, he's walking away angry, and nobody
walks away angry and says I I'm never going to

(02:18:45):
coach again. He's a guy that wants to leave his
own way. He's just piste off how this went in
Ohio State. He felt they didn't have his back early
on With Zack Smith. I think this is a decision
that was made in early September. What I got a
three game suspension, I'm gonna do this year and then
I'm done. And that's where we're at right now. It
could be I mean, you know, I think that's when
the speculation really started percolating, was that you know that

(02:19:08):
that that he had reached a kind of a fractured
point with the university, and I do know that he
still has a great relationship with Gene Smith, the athletic director.
But above Jean, I don't know it's it's and he
may have decided, you know, fine, I I'm gonna put
up with you all this year and then I'm out
of here. And if you're right, if that's the case,
then he's certainly going to coach again. But that would

(02:19:30):
also make I mean a colossal lie of all of
the this story about the health issues, and so what
is it, I mean, what is really motivating him? Like,
you know, I think it's gonna take a year or
two probably to figure it out. Box Sports Radio Jason

On the hotline with us Yeah who sports college football
insider Pat Forty on the line. You follow him on

(02:19:52):
Twitter at Yahoo forty. You can access that columb I
referenced a little bit earlier and all his other great
content there Pat the other story here in Los Angeles,
Cliff Kingsbury makes the decision he's coming to us. How
long is he here? Oh? You know, good question. I
mean it depends how long Clay Helton's there. Um see

(02:20:16):
all my life's the circle. That could be the answer.
We'll see. And while I don't think Urban was that
calculating in this, I do know that you know Clay
Helton's obviously, and they must win situation next year. And
how much is winning? I mean, is it eight? Is
it nine? Is it ten? I think seven or less
probably doesn't do the trick. That's not USC level winning.

(02:20:40):
So does kings very help. I think he will. I
mean I think he will modernize that offense and they will.
They will be able to maximize. They have young talent
on that side of the ball and good talent. Uh.
They need an offensive line to perform well. But quarterback, receivers,
running backs, They've got some players there, uh, and Kingsbury
should be able to make him better. You know. One

(02:21:00):
other thing outside to get to is we were watching
where the recruitment of Kelly Bryant goes, and now the
ex Clemson starting quarterback announces he's transferring to Missouri. So
now suddenly Missouri gets a guy who, hey, this this
is a this is a playoff caliber starting quarterback in
college football. It kind of just hits their free agency. Yeah,
that's a huge pickup for them. Obviously, Drew lock was

(02:21:22):
a really good four years starting quarterback for them. Could
be a first round pick at least second or third
at the latest, I would think, but they had nothing
backing him up. And so you plug Kelly Bryant in
to an eight win team, and there's some other players there,
and I think they've got a chance to, you know,
to be absolutely in the mix at least for second
in the SEC East. The problem is, I think Georgia

(02:21:43):
is built for the long haul there, and you know,
George's George is not going anywhere the same way. Alabama's
not going anywhere. So everybody's kind of battling for a third,
third best team at the SEC at this point. Now,
we had the celebration of Jalen Hurts over the last
seventy two hours plus. I would be remiss if I
didn't out your tweet earlier just about James Franklin being
in a good mood, uh during the National Football Foundation things.

(02:22:05):
With the news of today, but with the college football
playoff coming on, how how soon before we're at eight teams?
You know, boy, I mean the center of the better.
As far as I'm concerned now, I will say I
look I'm happy we have the four team playoff. It's
a million times better than the PCs, so we have
made progress, but it's not as good as it could be.

(02:22:26):
So if Georgia had gotten in the playoff, I think
there would be a more uh urgency towards pushing for
eight because that would have that would have gored so
many oxes. You would have had three of the Power
five out of the playoff, you would had two from
the SEC again uh. And I think people really that
they would have been fed up and started pushing for change. Now,

(02:22:50):
you know, we were close enough that there probably still
will be at least some discussion about it. Um, you
know what, how long it will take? I don't know.
Nothing happens with me in college sports. We have figured
that out. It only took one hundred and forty something
years to get the four team playoffs, So I'm not,
you know, holding my breath. He's on Twitter at Yahoo forty.

like Teddy Roosevelt is there? Uh, there's smiling there is
there mascot, right, yeah, I don't know. I know you

(02:26:43):
when you said you didn't know. I'm glad you know
Teddy Roosevelt. Okay, all right, thank you. Isn't that where
they filmed the Frisco Kid? Uh? No, that was good
San Francisco. Sure, I'm pretty sure that could be in Frisco, Texas.
Now you never know that was the Cisco Kid. Wasn't
salary of That's the guy who did the thong song?
You think wow? Brought Cisco in? Nicely done? It was

(02:27:06):
a friend of mine. Wow, young, that's breaking news right there. Well,
you know we went Madonna. We in a couple of
decades back. Sure you are? Are you wearing the lace
gloves with the cut off fingers right now? I'm really
I'm really glad that ended with the gloves. That was

(02:27:27):
really getting kind of stress. Do you still own a
pair of them or No? No, I do not. I
don't think I ever did. Actually, come on, really, I don't.
I don't think so. You never had the cut off
real well, I don't think so. I had the socks

of the finger gloves with a lace on him. Now, okay,
all right about that. I'll take that. I'll take your

Uh So, the Bryce Harper sweeps takes just got interesting
and they got weird as Harmon's dancing Now to Cisco.
What do you want first? Interesting or weird? Weird? Weird?

(02:28:09):
After that, I can't hit the rewind button. Just go
with it. I just started talking like Colin Joe's from
SNL and uh boy, that guy's got a whole career
to be being Ted Baxter. How about that? Last night,
Jeff Passing of Yahoo Sports reported that Magic Johnson was

(02:28:30):
in Las Vegas leading a Lakers contingent to meet with
I'm sorry, leading a Dodgers contingent to meet with Bryce Harper.
He might have been wearing Lakers gear. He's got his
shorts wearing a Lebron jersey, pretending he was showing up
in Blaze Pizza. Gotta call it back. I don't listen
to the whole show Ja Purple throwback jerseys. Uh, that

(02:28:53):
Magic was leading a Dodger's contingent in Vegas to he
was never there Bryce Harper. That's as far as you know.
That's that's Bryce Harper lives in Las Vegas. The Winter
meetings are in Las Vegas. So potentially this could be
the big scene for Bryce Harper's free agent decision. Obviously,
his money, what he's gonna get north of three hundred
million dollars is at stake here and now this could

(02:29:16):
be the beginning of the scene setting of the big announcement.
So last night we get this story that Jeff Passing
reports that Magic Johnson was there. Except today, Magic Johnson says,
I was not there. I only met Bryce Harper once
and that was two years ago on the field the
stadium when Dusty Baker introduced me. So apparently Magic Johnson

(02:29:37):
did not meet with Bryce Harper. Kind of changes things
a little bit hard. Yeah, from the story of the
Dodgers meeting with Bryce Harper to not meeting with him. Yeah,
seems like it was pushed from well, I mean, we
don't know that the Dodgers didn't meet with him. We
just know that Magic Johnson wasn't there trying to do
the Magic Johnson spinning. There's no reason for Magic Johnson

(02:29:58):
to see. We have to take him out as come on, yeah,
he won't tamper. He's not a taper. Let me tell
you something, Jimmy dollars. So that's the weird part. Because
now the Dodgers apparently you're not meeting. Here's the interesting part.
The Yankees, according to sources, are now in on meeting

(02:30:21):
with Bryce Harper. It doesn't matter if the Dodgers are
inter out. Bryce Harper is gonna get his money. He's
gonna get well north of three million. Because there are
no less than ten teams that have been documented as
far as their involvement with talking to pitching getting Bryce Harper.
The White Sox are involved, the Phillies are involved, The

(02:30:41):
Yankees are involved, the Cardinals, the Astros, the Padres, the Cubs.
If only the Mets didn't sign Robinson Can, we're fine.
I like that trade now. I like that trade. Now
you're liking it even like you're gonna convince yourself that
you don't really like it. I like it now because
it gets popped again. We have other moves coming. Not
gonna get popped. No, no, no, no, no, no, no,

(02:31:02):
it's look, I just look at the next two years.
It Cando is gonna be a big hitter for at
least the next two years. What he does, that's what
he does. Cano hits. And we got the best relief
pitcher in baseball. Boom, We're good. You now come on,
he throws like eighty three miles an hour. Now we
not have Kennley Jansen my d as a smoke man.
He is smoke celebrating the Seattle Marrior. And we'll get

(02:31:23):
real Luto from the from the from the Marlins. I'll
give up Michael Conforto. That's partly what the Marlins want.
I'll give get a Confordo. But you love Michael Conford. Yeah,
But to get to get a catcher, sure, at fielders
and a lot of outfielders get a lot. We're fine.
We just need Nimmo. Look, we needed to do. We
need one opening for Tebow and we got Nimo. And

(02:31:44):
we're a lot of rumors that Nimo might be a
guy that has to be moved in all this could be,
could be, But the Marlins don't like him. As far
as the world problems say, that's what that's as much
Nets talk as we should. Hey, I'm sorry, I'm sorry.
The Canoe d Has trade was such a big deal,
but it was. It was a big deal. Yeah, what

(02:32:04):
about big didn't even make the back page of the Post? Really?
Come on, stop lying? Maybe the Denver Post, the New
York Post. Yeah, of course, and and d Has with
their Mets uniforms. But here's the thing about Bryce Harper.

(02:32:24):
It doesn't matter if the Dodgers are in or not,
because enough teams are in that are going to give
him close to what he wants, if not more, And
there's gonna be a bidding war. No team involved with
Bryce Harper is involved not knowing what they have to
pay him because many free agents it's well, we think
they're looking for this kind of money, but we can
make it work. You know, he turned down ten years

(02:32:47):
and three million dollars from the Washington Nationals. That's your
starting point. That's your starting point. All these teams that
are in it. No, that's what it's gonna take. So
the fact you have seven to ten to eleven teams,
twelve teams in it, it's just gonna drive up and
Scott Boris is gonna get the money he wants. Does
he get to four hundred million? I know he gets
to four in a million, but he gets well north

(02:33:09):
of three hundred million, and he trumpets an outlook of
this biggest richest contract in Major League Baseball history, more
than Jim Carlos Stanton got. And here he is because
that's exactly what's gonna happen. Bryce Harper is gonna go
to the highest bidder. He'll be the Levy on Bell
of Major League Baseball. You're gonna pay me the most money? Yes,
well that's where I'm going. Oh, you don't have a
great chance to it doesn't matter. That's where I'm going.

(02:33:29):
That's how what's gonna go. Are they gonna give out
custom bidder paddles for the auction that goes on for
the services holding up? Mr give me sixty six, give
me seventies in the bag. The three guys, the Bets
GM right there, right there, we got an agent over here,

(02:33:50):
I got where you only get one paddle between the
three of you. They're bidding against each other because you
know that would happen. The Mets would so bid against
each other, each wanting the credit for securing the rights.
That's how it would work, Bryce Harper. It's like uh
like in Record Raul Ralph Freaks the Internet when they're
bidding against each other throwing money up. You are what

(02:34:15):
So Bryce Harper is gonna get that money. Whether you
agree that he should get it or not, whether you'd
want to pay him or not, He's gonna get it.

Speaking of, I'm not gonna make a segue. I just
saw Burger King has got this new whopper that has
eight slices of cheese on it. No, it's what's it's
in ah cheese. That doesn't mean anything. No, it was.

(02:36:03):
They can't lie about where they got McCarthy. It's holy cow,
eight slices of cheese. I mean, come on, that's the
best burger ever. It's a pretty frightening U. Why don't
you just s scrill cheese, sandwich cheese. It's up? Uh?

(02:36:23):
So I may go there like right after right after
work tonight. You got that new one? Not till next week.
I don't care. He got to give it to me.
Now here's my money. If we don't see you tomorrow,
we know why just put eight slices on it too,
But we just put it on and heard it that
the cheese got him. Oh it was a good run,
let me tell you, my friend, And then it was oozing.
We've spent the last couple of nights talking about who's

(02:36:46):
gonna wind up coaching Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay
Packers with Mike McCarthy out. As I've said, the guys
I liked that. I think they're gonna come down to
Bruce arians Cary Kubiak. But what about Mike McCarthy's next
landing spot, Because now suddenly you got a guy who
has been a pretty good coach for a decade, great
offensive mind, that couldn't get along with Aaron Rodgers. Does
he make curious coaching decisions during games? Yes he does.

(02:37:09):
But you know, coming from me is a Jets fan.
When I watched Todd bowles down two scores with four
minutes ago, when he punts on fourth and ten, Yeah, okay,
where is he going to go? Where's his next job?
He will end up as the head coach of the Jets.
You want him in New York. There's there's no real great, hot,
young offensive mind candidate. There's no Sean McVeigh, there's no

(02:37:32):
Kyle Shanahan. There's guys who are a step down from them. Now,
could they be good head coaches, Yeah, but there's none
of Hey, we gotta get this guy, we gotta go
get Shanahan. These guys are the ones. The Jets are
in a situation where your owner is in England as
an ambassador and they want someone to come in that
they can say, Okay, he's got it. He understands can

(02:37:54):
work with the GM but he's in charge of the
football team and he gets it. Todd bowls at all.
Kinds of problem him is keeping the team together, making
making sure they don't make stupid mistakes. They don't do it.
Mike McCarthy is that guy at this point in his career.
He'd be much better with a younger quarterback that he
can mold than Aaron Rodgers who knows everything. And it's

(02:38:14):
a difficult situation if you get a choice to coach
either Sam Donald or Baker Mayfield, because that's the other
job he's going to be linked with as the Browns,
and the Browns may don't have an open they might
love life under Greg Williams. They're winning games and Baker
Mayfield's great, So okay, we're all good. Well, the third
one is even with a win over the Packers this
past week, a lot of talk that Stephen Wilkes doesn't

(02:38:37):
get your two errors. So that's gonna be really tough too.
So you rose, yeah, but if you're but all right, Well,
there's Sam darnaland New York, there's Baker Mayfield in Cleveland,
and there's Arizona with Josh Rosen. Clearly that's the third
of the three jobs. But you would coach Sam Donald

(02:38:57):
before you would coach Baker Mayfield. Why. As good as
Baker Mayfield is, as much as as shown hey, he's
better than people thought he was, He's still a wild card.
And I'm talking about splitting hairs now coaching the next
up and coming quarterbacks in the Indian that they're supposed
to be the next great up and coming ones. I'm
not saying Baker Mayfield's a bad guy, but if you're
talking about Sam Donald and Baker Mayfield, Baker Mayfield still

(02:39:19):
a wild card. Is he someone that's gonna buy in
to what you have or is he gonna start doing
his own thing? Is he someone that's gonna openly question
what you're doing if things go bad. How is his raw,
raw attitude gonna go when you lose three games in
a row. Is he gonna start pointing fingers? He's gonna
say the wrong thing. As great as it sounds, coach
Baker Mayfield's okay, you're coaching Baker Mayfield. You're saying, hmm,

(02:39:40):
I really don't know about this guy. I don't know.
I know that he's a someone who has a lot
of swagger, says whatever he wants, and that's awesome. But
for a coach, if you're choosing between Mayfield and Donald
or Mayfield donald Rose, whatever it is, the other guys
seem more coachable, that's where you're gonna go. Because Mayfiel
still as as good as he is, and what he's

(02:40:02):
done is still more of a wild card than any
of the guys we're Certainly Rosen has a little bit
of swagger to him as well and outspokenness. He had
it here at U c. L A and a bit
during his tenure here with the Cardinals. Now it's a
question with Baker Mayfield. We've seen the coaches on the
way out and how he has been good with the microphone, right,

(02:40:23):
he got days of content on sports talk and Sports TV,
no question about it. So if you're McCarthy, is that
the challenge you want, right? Is that the challenge of
working with a guy like that coming off of your
long tenure with Aaron Rodgers? Or do you just say okay?
Sam donald seems more like cut from the old You know,

(02:40:44):
Baker Mayfield said, I'm not the cookie cutter quarterback dam
Sam Donalds, And you know you've got to change the
cookie cutter to account for the size of his hair.
But otherwise it's true that he's a little more in
the vein of the classic quarterback, right. He doesn't say
too much in interviews, seems to have a decent sense

(02:41:05):
of humor, but it seems to be a guy that
is get into the film room, do your thing, and
just keep your head down and keep working and leave
the quotes for other members of your team. Maybe McCarthy,
after all the time with with Aaron Rodgers, needs a
little more of that Twitter at how about a fresca
