What's happening. Mister Chris Brussard, how are you. I'm wonderful,
wonderful about you. I am doing great. I'm gonna do
two quick things.

Speaker 1 (01:47):
Sports Rap Radio has been postponed from a debuting on Thursday,
coming up to June third. A studio and everything technical
is just not gonna be ready. So June third, Sports
Rap Radio The Odd Couple will be on seven to
ten pm in Detroit. Number two, Chris, we saw you
said I got a college shirt on I had a jacket.

Speaker 4 (02:07):
Third my twenty ninth wedding, Wow, twenty nine to celebrate
that and listen to sports rap rating.

Speaker 5 (02:15):
Yeah right, I doubt you'll listen to Sports Rap Radio
that day.

Speaker 1 (02:20):
But number two Chris, Uh, Today was graduation at USC
and UH USC Annenburgh. You know, I teach there for
five years and one of my students graduated, Jonathan Martin
and Chris. He left me speechless today. This is a
kid who didn't really know a lot about baseball. He

(02:41):
asked me to teach him about baseball and covering baseball,
became a content uh content producer for mlbbro dot com.
And today when I see him at his graduation, you
know that you wear the sash on your on your gown,
captain gown. He had the MLB bro logo on that,

(03:03):
So he went from not really knowing baseball to joining
MLB Bro learning to feeling moved enough to put that
on his sash when he could put anything.

Speaker 3 (03:12):
It left me speechless to it's great. It really, that's
awesome that it really did.

Speaker 1 (03:17):
And congratulations to him and to all the graduates from
USC and and bird today.

Speaker 4 (03:23):
All right, all right, we got the eye couple crew
to super producer.

Speaker 3 (03:26):
Rob g is in the house. Is he here? Did
he make it? Because traffic looked terrible? Is here? See
Alex on the way in his stead? So he which
is bad today? It really is?

Speaker 4 (03:39):
Yeah, that's right here. Iowa Sam is here, Iowa Sam.
Always great to have him my home boy.

Speaker 3 (03:47):
Oh god you were you were in Iowa for ten minutes?
Would you stops Iowa? Also on the updates.

Speaker 4 (03:57):
You heard it just a few moments ago, Moncey blagnah.

Speaker 3 (04:00):
Yeah yeah yeah e is that how you say the
new one?

Speaker 4 (04:03):
Yeah yeah, yeah yeah yeah. But anyway on the social media,
our man, the one, the only, Elijah Sabuna. All right, Rob,
we got a more great NBA action, and I do
mean great. Whenever the Knicks play, it's going to be
an exciting game. Is the word out? What's the word

(04:27):
on on Jalen Brunson. He's playing, He is playing okay, yes,
on a sore foot, So props to him man for
fighting through being an absolute warrior.

Speaker 3 (04:39):
We'll see how he plays.

Speaker 4 (04:41):
But their games are close, and so you definitely want
to check them out against the Pacers, and then following that,
you've got Denver and Minnesota and an absolute must win
for Denver.

Speaker 3 (04:53):
They go down three to oh.

Speaker 4 (04:54):
No team's ever recovered from a three to zero deficit
to win an NBA best of seven, so they gotta
win the night they got their their guns. Yokic obviously,
but also Jamal Murray, who should be suspended but he's not,
and the fan of me is happy. I want to
see Denver have their best shot, even though he should
have been all right, but rob Everybody in New York City,

(05:17):
and you know that's where I'm at. I'm in New Jersey,
but just thirty minutes away from the Big Apple, and
everyone in these parts is going crazy over the New
York Knicks and.

Speaker 3 (05:30):
Oh the possibilities.

Speaker 4 (05:34):
Could this be the year where they break the drought
and get to the NBA Finals where they break the drought.
I should say, get to the NBA Finals for the
first time in twenty five years. Last time was nineteen
ninety nine, right the season, Yes, and I covered that

(05:56):
series a generation ago, the Five to the Spurs or man,
could they actually win their first championship in fifty one
years nineteen seventy three the last time they want?

Speaker 3 (06:14):
And I hate to say this, Rob, but it is
the truth.

Speaker 4 (06:21):
When the Knicks won their two championships nineteen seventy nineteen
seventy three, especially, half of the best players in the
world were in the ABA.

Speaker 3 (06:33):
It's just true.

Speaker 5 (06:34):
Yeah, but there's nothing that they could do about that.

Speaker 4 (06:36):
I know, but I'm just saying, you do what you
want with that, but it is it is the truth.

Speaker 3 (06:43):
Half of the best.

Speaker 1 (06:44):
Players in the world were not what you want them
to do playing the other league.

Speaker 4 (06:48):
Nah. But I want to give the ABA players just
as much credit. I want to give doctor j just
as much credit for his two rings and the ABA
as the Knicks and the Lakers with Jerry West and
Will Chamberlain and the Jerry West, Oscar Robertson UH and
the Knicks. That's just the name a few. Their only

(07:09):
championships came well, half of the best players in the
world weren't even in the NBA. I'm just saying, so
let's get I'm saying that to say, let's give Doctor
J and those ABA stars just as much credit for
their rings as we give the NBA during that period
of the ABA.

Speaker 3 (07:25):
The only problem is, yeah, you have digressed. Oh go ahead,
you got something. Only just that.

Speaker 1 (07:31):
Well, only the only reason you don't give them as
much credit is one league survived and the other one didn't.

Speaker 5 (07:36):
That that that's why if it.

Speaker 1 (07:38):
Was the other way around, If it was the other
way around and it was the ABA we're talking about it,
and the NBA was the one to put five teams
into the A B A, then then it would be.

Speaker 4 (07:48):
The reverse, right, I agree, that's the only one. Also, Yeah,
because the NBA the ABA. The thing that really made
me start thinking about this robe they used to play exhibition.

Speaker 3 (08:00):
Games, the a BA and the NBA against each other.
You know this.

Speaker 4 (08:04):
Every year they played well over one hundred I think
about one hundred and fifty something total. The last three
years they played exhibition games before the merger the ABA
won like sixty four percent of them.

Speaker 1 (08:16):
Yeah, I don't know, yeah that that was, but you
know what I'm.

Speaker 4 (08:20):
Saying, No, I get, although I do wonder had that
been the case, they may have got grandfathered those rings
in somehow or something like that. So I just think
the ABA, considering that it was, I would say at
least as good.

Speaker 3 (08:36):
As the NBA, if not better.

Speaker 4 (08:38):
I know they didn't have as many teams and all that,
but I think you got to give those guys credit.

Speaker 3 (08:43):
All right.

Speaker 4 (08:43):
But anyway, Rob here we want to talk about the
Knicks and Draymond Green.

Speaker 3 (08:47):
I'm catching flak.

Speaker 4 (08:49):
I think you're catching flak because we're saying Jalen Brunson
is not a superstar. Well, Draymon Green has joined you
and me and catching flak not for say Brunson is
not a superstar.

Speaker 3 (09:02):
But for saying this on his podcast.

Speaker 6 (09:05):
In the Eastern Conference, you can get to the conference
finals as Atlanta Hawks with like playing very mid teams.

Speaker 3 (09:13):
And so that's kind of what y'all are doing right now.

Speaker 6 (09:16):
And I think what this is setting up for y'all
up for is what happened to the Atlanta Hawks three
years ago when they made the conference finals and they
never got back. Another team to give you some perspective
on this, Nope, but one second. Another team that did
this to give you some perspective on this was the
Portland trump Blazers years ago when they had Alfa Arukaminu,

(09:39):
Alan Krab all those guys.

Speaker 3 (09:41):
They had all those guys.

Speaker 6 (09:42):
And they went to the conference finals and we swept
them pretty much without Steph Curry. They ran off and
paid all of those guys because they thought they had
a team that had a chance and it was a fluke.
And so that's what the Knicks are setting y'all up
for right now. And it'll be probably another fifteen years
of miser that we all sit around and laugh at
Knicks fans with their delusion about you know what happens?

Speaker 4 (10:09):
Who is that with him? Does anybody know who that was? Okay,
we don't know who that guy is on there with him,
But Rob.

Speaker 1 (10:18):
It sounds like a Knick fan because he was all right, yeah,
definitely was a Knicks game.

Speaker 3 (10:22):
Rob, He's right, he is so right.

Speaker 4 (10:27):
Now I disagree, I don't even disagree a lot, but
it's possible if the Knicks make the right moves in
the summer that they add a star, whether it's trading
Julius Randalls, some of those draft picks whatever to get
another star.

Speaker 3 (10:42):
With Jalen Brunson.

Speaker 4 (10:44):
It's possible that they could really become a legit contender,
but Draymond Green is on the money. The Eastern Conference
is for Gayzy. It was food gayzy when you were healthy.
And now without Yiannis, without Dame at least in part,
with Joe lmbat on one tire with the Balls and

(11:06):
Celtics even without Chris daffezingis with Jimmy Butler out for Miami,
it is a foul gayzy comedy. The Western Conference is
the varsity. The Eastern Conference is the jv. The Knicks
would not be doing this in the East or in
the West. And he is absolutely right. This team is

(11:27):
not one of the elite teams in the league.

Speaker 3 (11:30):
They are doing great.

Speaker 4 (11:31):
I have nothing but respect for him, Jalen Brunson, Tom Thibodeaux,
Ogion Nanobi, Isaiah Hartenstein, Josh hart, Donte, Devincenzo, all of them.

Speaker 3 (11:43):
They are doing outstanding work.

Speaker 4 (11:46):
But they are not in the class of the Nuggets,
the t Wolves and teams like and I don't even
think the Celtics, although I got worries about the Celtics
mental state, but I think I think Draymond's right, Rob.

Speaker 3 (12:01):
This is a wonderful story.

Speaker 4 (12:04):
But don't be fooled if you think it's an elite
team that you know, we're as constructed right now, is
about to go on some type of great run.

Speaker 5 (12:14):
Right, Well, I've said it.

Speaker 1 (12:15):
What did I say that last week or or a
couple of days ago, that they've been, you know, more
lucky than good and situation circumstances. We talked about all
the close games easily. What was their first five games
or whatever it was, the first seven with the point
differential was five.

Speaker 3 (12:35):
Well, we did the series with.

Speaker 4 (12:36):
Philly, Well they won that series by one point, even
though they won the series obviously, And.

Speaker 3 (12:42):
Right now Chris is plus fourteen and eight games.

Speaker 1 (12:45):
All these have been real raisor close where they could
have gone the other way. They got some bad calls,
their opponents got bad calls at the Madison Square Garden
a few games.

Speaker 5 (12:56):
So there's a lot of things going Yeah, both definitely.

Speaker 1 (13:00):
But but the other thing is it is about what.

Speaker 5 (13:06):
They can do to improve on this.

Speaker 1 (13:09):
If it's just a pat like you got the magic formula,
then you're gonna be in for a rude awakening because
of all the injuries in the East and what's happened.
So if JS you know on that, I get it.
Jo Aymond. He did a little lecture to rub it
in on Knicks fans, which is fine. I mean, I mean,
I have no issue with that. But but the premise

(13:32):
is not far fetched.

Speaker 4 (13:34):
Absolutely absolutely, and we'll see what the Knicks do this offseason.
That's the key, now, you know tonight it's a huge game.
Obviously they win the night, they should win the series,
go up three to zero. But Indiana with the Knicks ailing,
and look, Indiana, rob they're kind of playing with house
money because they're so young. But to me, if they

(13:56):
lose this series, it's not a death nail again because
they're young.

Speaker 3 (14:01):
But they should not lose this series.

Speaker 4 (14:03):
With the Knicks so beat up, Indiana could easily be
up two to zero, and not just because of calls,
but they these games have been close enough where they
could have won both. And if they can't beat the
Knicks with Jalen Brunson playing on the bad foot and
Ojon Nanobi out at least for this game, and probably

(14:23):
more then they don't deserve to win, and they really
need to do some soul searching in the offseason. All right,
eight seven, seven ninety nine on Fox, You're turn the
way in?

Speaker 3 (14:34):
Is Draymond green Wright?

Speaker 4 (14:37):
Is this just a nice little cute, magic carpet ride
for the Knicks to the Eastern Conference Finals? Presumably that
the fans shouldn't get too excited about, because you still
got a lot of work to do to get on
the level at the same level with the Big Boys.
Eight seven, seven ninety nine on Fox, You'll Turn Away

(14:57):
in Our Couple Fox Sports Radio.

Man Loving at Luthor.

Speaker 4 (15:42):
It's the Eye Couple live from the Tirerag dot Com
Studios eight seven seven ninety nine on Fox, Draymond Green
kind of said, look, nice cute story, but real.

Speaker 3 (15:54):
Talk mixer for Gayzy and Rob and I agree your
thoughts very much. Thank you too.

Speaker 1 (16:03):
Charlie in Texas, let's kick it off with you. You're in
the odd couple of Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 3 (16:07):
What's up, Charlie.

Speaker 8 (16:09):
Thanks for taking my call. Guys, I love listening to
your show because you guys have great pitching.

Speaker 3 (16:14):
Thank you, Thank you man. We appreciate that, Charlie.

Speaker 8 (16:17):
For real, Yes, sir, two quick things that like you
get your thoughts on the second one, especially number one.
I think in New York may be going on a
magic carpet, right, but it's a great magic carpet, right.
But what would it be if they should happen to
ride this thing all the way past Boston and get
into the finals, And I.

Speaker 1 (16:39):
Mean we would if that happened, then we'd have to
give them the ultimate props that they were able to
take advantage of the situation in front of them, and
you can't be mad at them.

Speaker 3 (16:49):
They can't. They got players missing too, that's you know
what it would be quickly.

Speaker 4 (16:55):
It would be very similar to the last time they
made the finals in Nights ninety nine.

Speaker 3 (17:00):
Now they're a second seed.

Speaker 4 (17:01):
This year, but we know they weren't like viewed as
the second best team in the East when they went
to the finals.

Speaker 3 (17:07):
Remember rob they were the eighth seed.

Speaker 4 (17:09):
They were without their best player technically Patrick Ewing.

Speaker 3 (17:13):
This year, Julius Randam was All NBA. Last year, Jalen
Brunson wasn't.

Speaker 4 (17:17):
So technically their best player entering the season was Julius Randall.

Speaker 3 (17:21):
They were without him, and it robbed. They would have been,
you know, a shocker.

Speaker 4 (17:27):
They were a shock team to get there ninety nine
and then they got it handed to him.

Speaker 3 (17:31):
They played hard, they played were hard, but.

Speaker 4 (17:33):
They got it handed to him in five games by
the superior Western Conference team.

Speaker 3 (17:38):
And that would happen this year.

Speaker 1 (17:39):
And you remember Chris the U when they beat then
they beat up Pat Roley's heat, right.

Speaker 4 (17:46):
Uh yes, yeah, But I think no year before they
thought that year or two before ninety No, I thought
that was the year because I was covering the team.
I was at the beat right. It may it maybe
it was.

Speaker 1 (18:02):
I can't remember, because they were because they were eighth
and Miami and then were one, and that's how they
propelled Chris.

Speaker 3 (18:07):
I'm almost positive you might be right.

Speaker 5 (18:09):
That was the year.

Speaker 1 (18:09):
I remember that looked that up, but that was one
that a game seven rob g and it bounced on
the rim.

Speaker 3 (18:14):
Game seven y was allan Houston shot in Houston. All right, Uh,
maybe we can find that out.

Speaker 4 (18:20):
I will say this, if somehow, if Oklahoma City won
the West, now, I know you would say, wow, they
would have beaten some great teams. I mean, I'm not
gonna say the Knicks couldn't like play with them. Possibly
they're just so young. Could the Knicks possibly upset that?

Speaker 3 (18:35):
I mean, maybe.

Speaker 4 (18:37):
Dallas would be interesting, but I think Minnesota or Denver
would really take it to the Knicks.

Speaker 3 (18:43):
Darren and Maryland, you're on the odd couple of Fox Sports.

Speaker 1 (18:46):
Rado.

Speaker 3 (18:46):
What's up, Darren?

Speaker 9 (18:48):
Hey doing great?

Speaker 3 (18:50):
How are you?

Speaker 8 (18:51):
Man?

Speaker 9 (18:52):
I'm good man. First of all, let me put this
out there. I'm a diehol Warriors fan, and I think
Draymond needs to stop trolling these other teams. And to
hate to use the phrase and got her baron in trouble.
He needs to shut up and dribble because he needs
to figure out how to keep himself on the court
so the Warriors can be relevant again, to stop worrying
about what the Knicks are doing.

Speaker 4 (19:12):
And the thing I got news for you, the run
is the Warriors run is pretty pretty positive.

Speaker 9 (19:19):
It's over well, but guess what it could be if.

Speaker 4 (19:23):
They get some if they make some big moves, maybe,
but as currently constructed with that core, it's over.

Speaker 9 (19:30):
But what I'm saying, Christ Draymond, even Eaven if you're
right about that, he need to worry about making himself available.

Speaker 4 (19:36):
He's a media guy, now, I mean he got he's
a he's a part time player.

Speaker 3 (19:40):
The media guy. Media guy, I mean he media.

Speaker 4 (19:45):
They gotta say something they're not they're not doing investigative reporting.

Speaker 3 (19:50):
They're not breaking their opinion.

Speaker 9 (19:52):
Is what I really say about the Knicks, though, I
think what people take for granted, it's hard work, want
to and will two. Some boys play hard. They're not
the most skilled of the team, but they get They
do what most other teams don't do. They play hard.

Speaker 8 (20:08):
Every posent agree.

Speaker 3 (20:10):
We're on the same No one would deny that. Thank you, Leo.

Speaker 1 (20:15):
In New York City and the epicenter of it all,
you're in the odd couple of Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 3 (20:21):
What's up, Leo? Leo? Chris?

Speaker 8 (20:24):
Rob?

Speaker 4 (20:24):
How you guys do it today?

Speaker 5 (20:26):
How are you surprised that you're calling with the game on?
You know what I mean?

Speaker 3 (20:29):
I'm shocked.

Speaker 2 (20:31):
I mean, you know, I got to watch my knig
you do.

Speaker 4 (20:34):
You do what you do what everyone should do, right,
You watch the game, but you have the volume down
and you listen to us.

Speaker 8 (20:40):
Exactly other ways as always. But Rob, I'm disappointed in you.

Speaker 6 (20:45):
You're donna.

Speaker 2 (20:46):
Let Chris do this.

Speaker 8 (20:47):
Chris speak a side.

Speaker 3 (20:49):
Are we gonna be bad for fifteen years?

Speaker 2 (20:51):
Or are we gonna be.

Speaker 4 (20:54):
Pick a side? I said, y'all, y'all for gazy? What
you what you want?

Speaker 9 (20:58):
Because I said, don't don't say it's possible.

Speaker 3 (21:03):
Move No, no, y'all stop it.

Speaker 4 (21:08):
You will and Rob knows you will not try to
get me on that. Yeah, let's see what they do
if they go out and get like a top tier
star to play with Jason Jalen Brunson. Of course that
changes things. Rob Am I wrong on that. Am I
am I playing the pickings.

Speaker 1 (21:26):
I see what they do because because they have picks,
they have plenty of stuff to do, and they have
some room, don't they Chris to at a star.

Speaker 3 (21:34):
Well, just they're they're set up to.

Speaker 4 (21:35):
I don't know how much cap room they'll have, but
you know, with Randall as a tradable asset, the picks,
uh and even some of their they're not they're not
in the sun situation. You know where you're doing. You
know they're in a they're in a very good situation.
But if I'll say this, if they stay as they are,
if they don't make any improvements, yeah, they're not gonna
They're not gonna be contenders in the future. All Right,

(21:58):
It's The Odd Couple, Chris and Rob. I know you
not into it, but everybody else is.

Speaker 3 (22:05):
That's next.

Speaker 2 (22:06):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Odd Couple
with Chris Brussard and Rob Parker weekdays at seven pm
Eastern four pm Pacific on Fox Sports Radio and the
iHeartRadio app.

Speaker 4 (22:17):
You can be ticked off, you can make fun, you
can mock, but the Mike Tyson Jake Paul Fight slated
for July twentieth at at and T Stadium Jerry World
in Arlington, Texans. They have already sold one hundred and

(22:38):
twenty one thousand tickets for that fight rob People are
into it, and I'll tell you what, I assume they're
going to.

Speaker 1 (22:49):
Really, Chriss, hold on, that's just a pre sale. Tickets
aren't available. That's like people who have interest in.

Speaker 3 (22:54):
It, Oh, signed up for tickets.

Speaker 5 (22:57):
Yeah, that's okay.

Speaker 3 (22:58):
So you think that people aren't going to be.

Speaker 1 (23:00):
No, no, no, But a lot of that is just
that people want to be able to flip it and
you know, buy and.

Speaker 3 (23:05):
Yeah, but buy himself, see what the price is.

Speaker 1 (23:07):
Sometimes you can buy a lot of tickets and then
they don't sell and then you're stuck. But I'm but
I get and Chris, I'm not saying that it's not
gonna be any interest because people love a train wreck.

Speaker 3 (23:17):
I get.

Speaker 1 (23:18):
I get why people would be interested in seeing this.
How many times you driven on the highway and you
see the traffic slowed down because they see a wreck
and they slow down and they want to see it.
They want to see this, They want to see somebody's
head getting popped off. I don't doubt it for one
minute that there's interest, but I'm not interested in it.
And I wouldn't pay one thing dime to watch this.

(23:41):
And I hope Mike Tyson's head gets knocked off. That's now.

Speaker 3 (23:45):
Wow. I'm shocked that you want Jake Paul. I don't
want Jake Paul. I just you do.

Speaker 4 (23:51):
Don't you want him to because here's the thing, you
really want Jake Paul in a big way.

Speaker 3 (23:56):
I just because you want him.

Speaker 4 (23:59):
I'm shocked that you want him to beat this legendary
fighter that's number one but number two rob rightly or wrongly,
because I mean, Mike Tyson may just be an old man, right, fifty.

Speaker 3 (24:14):
Eight years old.

Speaker 4 (24:16):
I mean, just so Jake Paul beating him really might
not be a lot. But you know, if he does
beat Mike Tyson, it is going to skyrocket this dude
even higher than he is now. So I get that.
You think, man, what does Tyson doing? This is ridiculous?

(24:36):
And you're mad at him for being involved in this?
Who allows you? Why don't you be just as mad
at Jake Paul for fighting a fifty eight year old
and game in the system, so to speak, to make
all of this money for fighting the old man?

Speaker 1 (24:55):
Because he couldn't do it if they didn't allow him
to make money off of Tyson's legacy.

Speaker 3 (25:01):
That that's what I'm pushing back on.

Speaker 4 (25:03):
He's been doing it the other fighters. I mean, not
this much.

Speaker 3 (25:06):
No, not not a guy like that.

Speaker 1 (25:07):
To be in a ring like that with Mike Tyson,
where he was in his career and where he fit
in uh in the history of boxing. To get in
a ring with some YouTuber and you're fifty eight years
old and you're doing that, That's what bothers me and
I and I you know, you know, Chris, I just
feel bad for Tyson that has come to that, that

(25:28):
that he's got to allow people to eat off of
his legacy, and Jake paul doesn't deserve that.

Speaker 3 (25:34):
And that's my issue why, that's.

Speaker 4 (25:35):
Why I think you should want Tyson to knock his
block off.

Speaker 3 (25:39):
I really want to paying this even if.

Speaker 4 (25:41):
Tyson wins, right, but he getting paid anyway I'm talking
about he was gonna fight, he was gonna get paid,
NA get paid.

Speaker 1 (25:49):
Yeah, but Jake Paulo been getting money. I just I wouldn't.
I wouldn't take part in it.

Speaker 4 (25:55):
I'm just that's fine, But I and I get that
I'm just saying I don't get why I think Jake
Paul is just as you know, wrong for this as
Tyson and arguably more. I mean, he is a twenty
seven year old in prime condition of his life fighting
a fifty eight year old man. Now, I look, I

(26:19):
hope Tyson knocks this dude. I hope Teddy Atlas is
right and that they both this is a real fight.

Speaker 3 (26:28):
They agree like that have already agreed. Look, this is
a fight.

Speaker 4 (26:31):
There's no exhibition. This is no you know, we're not
dancing around. It's not gonna be a draw. It's not
just you know, we're gonna, you know, make it close
so Jake can get all the benefits of this and
you know, fight a good fighter the next time.

Speaker 3 (26:46):
No, we're fighting.

Speaker 4 (26:48):
I'm Mike Tyson, and I'm trying to end your this charade,
and I'm Jake Paul and I'm trying to keep my
charade going. And if ted Tayley Allis said, if that happens,
he thinks Tyson will knock him out in the first round,
I don't know.

Speaker 3 (27:05):
I'll say this, rock.

Speaker 4 (27:07):
We see all the videos of Tyson, right like you
see these little things on YouTube and he's doing. You know,
he's hitting the ring and he's hitting this guy. The
guy's got the vest on where it protects him and
he's Tyson's hitting it.

Speaker 3 (27:22):
Real fast and stuff.

Speaker 4 (27:24):
I will say this, and I don't know robg wants
to jump in because you know he's in the boxing
on this.

Speaker 3 (27:30):
The only thing I'll say.

Speaker 4 (27:31):
And i'ven't watched every single clip, but those clips are brief,
Like I haven't seen Tyson doing some stuff like that
for like minutes at a time.

Speaker 3 (27:44):
It's a little quick bursts.

Speaker 4 (27:46):
Now, it might only take a burst for him to
knock out Jake Paul. But the stamina you wonder, is
Tyson really sparring where he could go? I mean it's
eight rounds two minute rounds, that's sixteen that's really like
just over five rounds. So is he in good enough
shape where if this is really a good fight, that

(28:07):
he can have.

Speaker 3 (28:08):
The stamina to do it. But I I I.

Speaker 4 (28:13):
Understand where you're coming from, Rob, But I think Jake
Paul is just as much in the wrong, if not
more so.

Speaker 5 (28:19):
Yeah, I think he has more to gain. So that's
why I put it on. I just do Paul. Yeah,
I understand why Paul.

Speaker 1 (28:26):
What this This fifty eight year old dude is gonna
get in the ring with me with heavyweight champ of
the world and give me a chance to make bookoo
money and knock his block off. I get why he's
doing it. I just don't like that Mike and his
people around him would allow him to do that. I
just don't He don't gain anything, Like what if he

(28:48):
beats him?

Speaker 3 (28:48):
What? What's the big deal? Seriously?

Speaker 1 (28:50):
And if he gets knocked out, And that's the last
image I got to see a Mike Tyson getting knocked
out of the ring.

Speaker 3 (28:57):
You know, at fifty eight years.

Speaker 4 (28:58):
That already was I said, it wasn't fifty eight, that's younger.
How bad I was that he got crushed by some
no name because he was just done.

Speaker 3 (29:07):
Here's what I here's where I disagree. Obviously, beating Jake
Paul for.

Speaker 4 (29:12):
A guy like Mike Tyson isn't you know, a huge deal,
although he will get credit for, like I said, ending
this charade.

Speaker 3 (29:19):
But what I will say, Rob is who knows? You
know Mike Tyson.

Speaker 4 (29:24):
Look, he's done the tours of his show where he
talked about his life, and you know he's been in
some movies obviously, So I mean, he may have a
fantastic life at this point, but I will say this,
like clearly it seems from the videos I was referencing
that this is giving him some excitement, that this is

(29:45):
giving him something again to like bring life.

Speaker 3 (29:49):
To his life.

Speaker 4 (29:50):
Not that it's terrible, I don't know, but this is like, man,
I got new life. And I will say this, he
looks like and we had one of his former managers
on John Horn, you know, a few weeks ago, and
he talked like this as well.

Speaker 3 (30:07):
He looks robed like he is.

Speaker 4 (30:09):
He is better off mentally now and he is more
committed now that he was.

Speaker 3 (30:19):
I'd say even before he.

Speaker 4 (30:22):
Lost the Buster Douglas, not early in his career, but
like maybe four or five fights before.

Speaker 3 (30:28):
He lost the Buster Douglas.

Speaker 4 (30:30):
You could see Tyson was not training, his heart was
not you know, was taking it for granted, and was
losing his skills. He said, the power so he was
knocking these guys out who were terrified of him.

Speaker 3 (30:42):
But obviously it ended with Buster Douglas.

Speaker 4 (30:45):
He seems like he is more into it and mentally
fresher and sharper now than he was from that point.
Forward over his career. So I just think maybe I
hope he doesn't get hurt, because he's a fifty eight
year old man and that could be dangerous you get
hurt at that age.

Speaker 5 (31:05):
I can't believe that they're sanctioned in this fight and
allowing it to be a so called real fight. I'm
stunned by it all.

Speaker 1 (31:13):
And I do pray that it's not that Mike Tyson
doesn't have a new nickname when this is all over
and people will start calling him pathetic Mike Tyson.

Speaker 5 (31:22):
I just hope that that's not the name.

Speaker 3 (31:23):
Let me ask you this, if he wins, what will
what do you? What will your thoughts be?

Speaker 1 (31:28):
Then it was a fix if I if I really
you don't think he can be Wow, I don't a
fifty eight year old guy with a young guy like that.
I'm just would be his His reflex is not the same.
His reflexes aren't the same at that age.

Speaker 4 (31:44):
Yeah, but Jake Paul ain't a great fighter, just barely
a pro. I mean, he he fought a media not
even he fought a bad pro and lost.

Speaker 3 (31:52):
I just he's knocking out.

Speaker 1 (31:55):
Mike Tyson when he was at his hey, he didn't
even have long fights. All he would do is knock
people out in the first forty seconds. He didn't fight
Chris that When When when did Mike Tyson have issues
when he wasn't knocking people out in the first round.
That's all I'm saying.

Speaker 3 (32:10):
I mean, that's an overstatement. But in this hey day
he was am I right, he was knocking people.

Speaker 4 (32:14):
I mean he had some fights you know where he
went longer, but yeah, he was.

Speaker 3 (32:18):
He was one of the most devastating punchers ever. I
just think that.

Speaker 4 (32:22):
I mean, if he you gonna know, I mean, Tyson
hits so hard and it's so punishing that it's you
gonna if he knocks Jake Paul out, I mean, you
gonna know.

Speaker 3 (32:34):
It's real.

Speaker 4 (32:35):
And I don't see why Rob they would fix it
that way, right, Why would they fix it for Tyson
and knock Paul. If they fix it, it'll either be
for like a draw, or maybe Tyson wins a close
fight or Paul wins a close fight, you know, something
like that. They ain't gonna fix it for Jake Paul
to get knocked out.

Speaker 3 (32:57):
I mean that he's a meal ticket for them. Why
would they do that? That's what I'm saying.

Speaker 4 (33:00):
So I think if Tyson knocks him out then I mean,
that's why I was asking, what will you say then?

Speaker 3 (33:07):
All Right?

Speaker 4 (33:08):
It's The Odd Couple Chris and Rob on a funky
flashback Friday. Luka Doncic and the Dallas Mavericks bounced back
in a big way last night against the Oklahoma City
Thunder Keep it Locked, Ah a couple.

Speaker 3 (33:22):
Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 2 (33:23):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Odd Couple

Eastern four pm Pacific on Fox Sports Radio and the
iHeartRadio app.

Speaker 4 (33:35):
It's the Odd Couple Live from the tire rack dot
Com Studios.

Speaker 3 (33:39):
Is time for Shekel City.

Speaker 2 (33:41):
Shekel City, the home base for Rob Parker's day Dicks
against the Scratch.

Speaker 1 (33:50):
I'm gonna take best bet. I'm gonna take Denver plus
three and a half game one in game three, but
game one, Chris against the t Wolves, I got Denver
plus three and a half.

Speaker 3 (34:07):
I don't think they'll go down all three. I think
they'll win a game.

Speaker 1 (34:10):
I got the Brewers minus one and a half hosting
the Saint Louis Cardinals, and I got the Angels plus
one and a half runs, Chris hosting the Kansas City Royals.
So the Angels plus one and a half runs, the
Brewers minus one and a half runs, and Denver plus
three and a half points on the road against the
Tee Wolves. And remember, I'm not telling you who to

(34:32):
bet on. I'm telling you who I bet on. So
that was interesting, Rolph. So you got Denver tonight?

Speaker 5 (34:38):
Yes?

Speaker 1 (34:39):
Why, I just think they're not gonna go down all three.
I think they'll bounce back. I think they'll play better
and win a game. I know they look like the
t Wolves. Look like they won't lose a game. Okay, see,
look like they weren't gonna lose a game either, and
they got beat. I just think that Denver, if you
have any kind of I.

Speaker 3 (34:58):
Think there's a huge difference between with Minnesota and O case. No,
I'm just saying.

Speaker 1 (35:01):
I'm just talking about if you're a championship team, you're
down on two that you need to put together and
play better. I just think Denver can do that. That's
all I mean. It's just a feeling. There's no I
can't give you the x's and o's and tell you
for sure, but I think they can win a game.

Speaker 5 (35:16):
I think they'll win tonight.

Speaker 4 (35:18):
Well, they better because if they lose tonight, they looked
demoralized in game two, and so if they lose tonight,
then it'll be interesting.

Speaker 3 (35:28):
You never know where they come out, even if they
say the right which they would say the right things.

Speaker 4 (35:34):
But even if you know they really believe in their heart,
we can get this, which I think players do you
know until.

Speaker 3 (35:42):
Right, because you you it's one game at a time.
You can't win your games.

Speaker 4 (35:47):
You can win, right, we can win this one game.
You're not thinking about it like we are robbed. You're
not saying they win the nice one.

Speaker 1 (35:55):
And if they play tonight, Chris, if they just play
like play well, put together game and win, all of
a sudden, it's like, okay, well we got we worked
out whatever we weren't doing or whatever we gotta win.
We've done this, we won the championship, we've been through
the wars, we've done all this, and then it becomes
another thing. Then it's all of a sudden, now the
little bit of pressure on the tea walls. Do you

(36:15):
want to give up what you just had, which was
two oh? And let it be tied going back to Denver,
then you have a whole totally different series. So that's
why you just gotta win tonight. And I think they
win tonight.

Speaker 4 (36:27):
What I will say about that is, and obviously you
never want to lose the first two games period. I
certainly never want to lose them at home. But when
you lose the first two at home, if they did
win tonight, it would be an extra boost for them
because they would be winning in Minnesota. Like if they
had lost the first two in Minnesota, ribe and then

(36:49):
they come back and win game three. It's great that
you won, but you won at home, you know what
I mean, You're still like, okay, we're still way, you know,
way behind in this series. Won a home game, But
if you go win a road game, now, I think
psychologically you feel like, okay, we just beat them in
their spot.

Speaker 3 (37:10):
We can take control of this thing, you know what
I mean?

Speaker 6 (37:13):
Right?

Speaker 3 (37:14):
And so that is true. I just it's gonna be interesting.

Speaker 4 (37:18):
I think it was was it Eddie how or Antonio
Daniels who told us he didn't see a lot of
uh adjustments for Michael Malone and the Nuggets to make.
And obviously there's always some things you can do, but
they they've been overwhelmed.

Speaker 1 (37:36):
How about a bad shooting night. I'm just saying, like,
how about a bad shooting night someone slower, you know
in Minnesota. Yeah, like just an off night the way
I think the way Boston, I'm just saying I have it.

Speaker 4 (37:48):
The difference is they don't over rely on the three
general really well, they don't. Like they only I think
they shot like thirty five of a game. You know,
they're not a game or I don't even think they're
one of the highest teams in the league in terms
of three point attempts per game. So they got other things.
They can go to Anthony Edwards getting to the basket

(38:10):
cat or go bear inside. But look, it's certainly not
a stretch to say the Nuggets are gonna win the night.
I mean, you would think that the defending champions, they
got the best player in the world.

Speaker 3 (38:23):
Maybe you think they should win to night. So I'm
not mad at that. I'm not mad at that.

Speaker 4 (38:27):
It's just gonna be interesting to see, you know, what changes,
what things are different into Night's game. Because Game two
was such a debacle. All right, we got two hours left,
y'all know what to do locket
