Speaker 2 (00:26):
You're listening to Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 3 (00:31):
It is The Odd Couple on a worship Wednesday. Indeed,
Rob Parker along with Rob G and for Chris Bussard,
who might we.

Speaker 4 (00:43):
Have an update on christ So he's out of the tunnel. Yes,
he is no longer trapped in a sewer in New York. Yes,
we hope he can make it back to the studio.

Speaker 5 (00:52):
Maybe for the final hour of the program.

Speaker 4 (00:55):
He's efforting.

Speaker 3 (00:56):
Rob G is in instead, and we're broadcasting live from
the tyreright dot Com studios.

Speaker 5 (01:01):
Tire rack dot com. We'll help you get there.

Speaker 3 (01:04):
An unmatched selection free fast Fast, free ship and I
should say free road has a protection and Rob g
over ten thousand recommended installers. That's right, tire rack dot
com the way tire buying should be. And coming up
in about thirty minutes, we got a big time an
a lister. Donnie Wahlberg an actor, a singer, a producer,

(01:28):
a director, And for people don't remember a guy I
beat out of one hundred dollars worth.

Speaker 4 (01:34):
Of wings facts, rob I remember that. And he's a
man of his word. He sent in like he's sent
in two hundred and fifty. You remember, we love Donnie, Yes, no.

Speaker 5 (01:42):
Doubt about it. We saw him on the broadcast.

Speaker 3 (01:44):
They kept showing Donnie goes crazy, Yes, big time. So
we'll talk to him at the bottom of the hour.
But first, rob G, you just heard Manci with the
All NBA teams. No shocker that four of the five
in the first team foreign players, right, Yeahhoka Jason Tatum
was the only.

Speaker 5 (02:04):
American holding it down.

Speaker 3 (02:06):
Know my god. But rob G, you want to go
over and Luca. What is that five years in a row?

Speaker 4 (02:12):
Yeah, Luca missed the unanimous by one vote. So Shay
and Jokish we're both unanimous first team. Luca missed it
by one. I don't know how that's pot how you
could vote not vote.

Speaker 5 (02:22):
Luca first team all that's surprising. Yeah.

Speaker 4 (02:25):
But now, with his fifth first Team All NBA selection
at the age of twenty five, he now has more
First Team All NBA nods. Then get this Robb. These
are like Hall of Famers, Dirk KG, Chris Paul, Steph Curry,
Steve Nash, Alan Iverson, the Joker Westbrook, Tracy McGrady, Dwayne Wade.

Speaker 5 (02:48):
That's pretty impressive. That's an impressive list, no doubt about it.

Speaker 4 (02:51):
And yet Rob, with all of that in mind, historically
often one of the greatest stars we've ever seen for
an NBA basketball player. The folks at the Ringer, who
mostly do good stuff, Are you saying that didn't do
good stuff? You cannot miss your opinion. Yeah, exactly, That's
exactly what I'm saying. If I disagree with them, it's
it's bad content. They put out a list of the

(03:13):
top twenty five players under twenty five in the NBA,
and they did under this framework, what have you done
in the past, what are you currently doing, and what
will you do and what.

Speaker 5 (03:25):
Will you do in the future.

Speaker 4 (03:27):
And for whatever reason, Luka Doncic, who is only twenty
five and just came off averaging thirty forty.

Speaker 3 (03:35):
Nine, he's an old twenty twenty five, came in at
number four on their list.

Speaker 4 (03:43):
Number one going order here, Victor win Banyama number two,
Anthony Edwards number three, Shay Gilges, Alexander number four, Luka
Donci's rounding out the top five, number five. Tyres Alibert,
All right.

Speaker 5 (03:53):
Well you got an issue with that?

Speaker 3 (03:55):
What is so bad about that being in the top four?
What do you want to do? So he should be
three or two like we should be number one.

Speaker 4 (04:02):
No, he should not rob Everybody else in the top
of that list ahead of him has potential, absolutely.

Speaker 3 (04:10):
But they got other things. They got youth on their side,
and I know he's twenty five.

Speaker 4 (04:14):
But none of them have the same skins on the
wall that Luka Danci has.

Speaker 3 (04:21):
Yeah, but I do believe. And Eddie House we hadn't talked.
He backed me up as soon as he heard the
same thing.

Speaker 5 (04:27):
What he say.

Speaker 3 (04:29):
He was talking about the ceiling and whether or not
those other guys who were just getting started have bigger,
higher ceilings than he does. Luca might have plateaued, and
I'm a hell of a plateau It's Mount everest Y
I did it. It's Mount Evers. But there's also stuff

(04:49):
like he's always banged up. He doesn't always look like
he's in the best shape.

Speaker 5 (04:54):
Now he's Dowey. Yeah, he's Dowey.

Speaker 3 (04:56):
I mean if you were close to him and you
were at a game and you have great seats and
he walked by you, you just might stick your finger
in the stomach.

Speaker 5 (05:08):
You just oh my god, oh no, you just might.
Is that fair? I don't think that's fair.

Speaker 3 (05:18):
Yes, And I just think that they're way more excited
about these young wemby How old is he twenty?

Speaker 4 (05:26):
But he his is all off potentially, No.

Speaker 6 (05:28):
I get it.

Speaker 5 (05:28):
I had a great year. He only played twenty eight minutes.
I get he won defensive player. You lost all these games.

Speaker 4 (05:35):
You weren't you the guy who said the lost of
eighteen in a row can't be that good. But now
you're like, hey, all the potential though on that.

Speaker 3 (05:40):
Because of it says what you're doing now you know
and the and the future, and it's not And I
think you're right, Like we've seen what Luca has done
and you expect kind of the same. These other guys
could be off the chart. When you start talking about
aunt Man being twenty two and even with Michael Jordan's

(06:02):
whether it's legit or not, sure, it tells you about
what expectations people have.

Speaker 5 (06:07):
Is that fair.

Speaker 4 (06:08):
Yeah, but like that they could be. And we talked
about this earlier before the show, but it wasn't like
he's in the top He was number ten four, right,
So with Anthony Edwards specific because that SGA is also
twenty five. So even though he's kind of a late bloomer,
I think to say that he has more upside than
than Luca is a little bit disingenuous because they're the
same age. It just so happens that Luca has been
great out of the gay and SGA has been like

(06:29):
a steady rise up up there.

Speaker 5 (06:31):
Right, and then this year to take that team, he
was great.

Speaker 4 (06:34):
He was for MVP, so not to take away from him,
he was not, but he just does not have just
wasting that in there. He doesn't have the same resume
that Luca had. And with Anthony Edwards, I like at
the Edwards I think he's going to be a great player.
He could be on that short list of faces of
the NBA once the Lebron Steph Kadi era is officially closed.

(06:54):
We're kind of at the very very very tail end
of it right now. It could be ending any minute now.
But Anthony Edwards is getting a lot of credit and
rightfully so. For what he did against Minnesota and against Phoenix,
he was fantastic. You know, that Game six performance that
he had where they want by forty five.

Speaker 5 (07:10):
He was great.

Speaker 4 (07:12):
But they're making it seem like we've never seen this before,
like we've never seen a twenty two year old, you know,
take the bull by the horns and kind of announced
his arrival to the NBA.

Speaker 5 (07:23):
I agree with that.

Speaker 3 (07:24):
Jason Tatum did the exact same thing. No, I agree,
And I think we are caught up in this sports
world that we're in now, prisoner of the moment. Everything
that happened yesterday is the greatest thing that ever happened.
Rob g you know that. Yes, there's no context.

Speaker 5 (07:41):
You know. That's why Chris and I are always trying
to tell people to pump the.

Speaker 3 (07:44):
Brakes, stop with the uh, you know, everything is great
and oh my god, this guy is that guy and he's.

Speaker 5 (07:52):
Better than Jordan, and he's better than this guy bad.

Speaker 3 (07:55):
Just relax, give people a chance to have a body
of work and not off of one series or anything.
And that's why I think that that this thing here,
if this was about uh, if this if this Ringer
story right, and and and list rob g was about

(08:18):
just what you've done. Then obviously Luca would be higher, right,
but it's a projection and and and and with the
spens of projection, you want to be able to put
some fresh faces and say this guy is a chance
to be that you. And I think that's why Luca
not out of disrespect, because if it was not in
the top ten, then you gotta.

Speaker 5 (08:38):
I got an argument with you, you know what I mean?

Speaker 3 (08:40):
Number four is not like they're not looking at you
or look in that same way. It's just that they
think these other three guys have a bigger upside. And
we've seen Luca and maybe he has plateau. It's possible.

Speaker 4 (08:55):
In the in the article they explained the reasonings for
they call it reason for so the reason why maybe
you wouldn't be as high on him as some other people.
They mentioned, you know that he also has like a
kind of a pensulance when it comes to officiating. He's
always complaining he's very hot.

Speaker 3 (09:10):
It's annoying, right, it is serious like every play, every play,
And and they mentioned that his style of play is,
you know, kind of grating.

Speaker 4 (09:22):
And this is something Chris talked about when we talked
about the earlier is one reason. And even if I
disagree with this, one reason why you might not have
Luca at the top of the list is because his
style of play is so heliocentric, where he's the offense
at all times, and you got to find a very
specific player to fit around him because he's going to
have the ball, he's going to be doing everything, and

(09:44):
it's up to you to work around him. The other
guys wemb Man and Shay have shown they can do
other things.

Speaker 3 (09:50):
I agree with that, and that's going to be easier
to put together a team to win a championship compared
to Luco.

Speaker 5 (09:57):
Would you agree with that.

Speaker 4 (09:57):
Yeah, definitely, because I definitely think that it's extremely difficult
to win a championship the way that he plays. And
right now, what Dallas has going for him is that
role players are playing really well and they're defending really well,
so it's working right now. I just like I said
before and you said right now, that it's really hard
to win when the offense is Luca left, Luca right,

(10:18):
Luca up the middle, and hope that you can beat
the best teams that way.

Speaker 5 (10:22):
Right, And I think it's those things.

Speaker 3 (10:25):
Yeah, long term that people are looking at thinking, you know,
if they won a championship, it would be amazing. I
still don't feel like they're a championship team.

Speaker 4 (10:36):
Still still wow, Rob, I've just got such high standard.
But then the last thing, Rob, you touched on it earlier,
Luca's availability. Told you he's only played seventy or more
games twice in his six year career. His games by
season seventy two, sixty one, sixty six, sixty five, sixty six,

(10:56):
and seventy. So if you're always getting nicked up and
you always come in a little bit out of shape,
I can understand why, you know, you might be concerned
about his long term health. I just totally disagree that
his potential is so much more stunted than everybody else
that you would discount everything he's done in his career.

Speaker 5 (11:18):
Already, nobody's discounting it.

Speaker 4 (11:19):
They did it kind of hating on him.

Speaker 5 (11:21):
Row.

Speaker 6 (11:21):
No.

Speaker 3 (11:22):
I just think that the other guys all blossomed this
year too.

Speaker 5 (11:27):
And you know that the you know, like people will
oh my god, look what's coming, you know what I mean?

Speaker 3 (11:33):
And you know that the pretty girl in high school
who's been there right for a while, we all saw
her a few times, and now a new girl just
moved transferred from another school.

Speaker 5 (11:44):
Who are people looking at? Yeah, I guess you're looking
at the new girl. You're looking at the new girl.
And that's what I think these NBA people are doing.

Speaker 3 (11:51):
All right eight seven seven ninety nine on Fox's all
telephone number, And we want you to get involved. And
should Luca feels slighted by this list from the ringer,
we'll continue that conversation with you next eight seven seven
ninety nine on Fox eight seven seven nine nine.

Speaker 5 (12:14):
Six sixty three sixty nine. Or is this list around right?
You see it the same way it is?

Speaker 3 (12:20):
The Odd Couple on a worship Wednesday, Rob Parker Rob
GN for Chris Bussard.

Speaker 5 (12:25):

telephone number eight seven seven ninety nine on Fox talking
about Luca Luca Dunton. Was he dissed because he was
fourth on the list the Wringers list, Rob G of.

Speaker 4 (14:28):
Yes, top twenty five and twenty five, he was dissed.

Speaker 3 (14:32):
He should have been number one in your estimate, abs
so freaking loose. If it was you know, uh, your
accomplishments in the NBA so far at twenty five, then
you're right, that's a third of the vote. Okay, but
that's what it was. And it was about the future
as well. But anyway, we'll take your phone calls, uh,
Rob G, I know people want to get.

Speaker 4 (14:51):
At this, that's right. He gets to our man first
and foremost market in Sacramento marketing on the.

Speaker 5 (14:55):
Area is what's up? Mark?

Speaker 6 (14:59):
How you guys do Man doing great?

Speaker 5 (15:01):
We haven't heard from you and we disappeared on us.

Speaker 6 (15:04):
Oh no, I've tried to get through a couple of times.
My back you guys must have just disconnected my backbone
because a couple of times I couldn't get through, and
now they changed my schedule on me. So but I'm
back on the regular schedule. I can catch you guys.

Speaker 5 (15:16):
Man great, great to hear your voice.

Speaker 6 (15:18):
Yes, oh yeah, in a small way, Yes, he was.
He was this because he is a looker. But a
lot of it has to do with his attitude, uh,
the whiney uh, that kind of thing. And a lot
of it has to do with the social media.

Speaker 7 (15:34):
Right new.

Speaker 3 (15:37):
Did we lose Mark? Can you guys hear me?

Speaker 6 (15:41):
Yeah? A lot of it has to do with with
the new looker's attitude, you know, there's back to that
stuff then, And a lot of it has to do
with the here and now social media and you know,
the the the the new, the Winby new, Wimby got it,
you know, just saw Wemby. But Wimby's now the greatest thing.
I think it's gonna be great. But he's so new

(16:02):
they had to pump him up the hype of the news.
So I think Luca got buried in the windy stuff too.

Speaker 5 (16:09):
And and man and man who.

Speaker 6 (16:11):
Exploded exploded at the same time.

Speaker 3 (16:14):
Yeah, buried and you were high on him all the
way and look at look at where he is now.
And that's why I think you're right, Mark, that you
know there's an explosion of these young players and when
you get when you talk about the future, it is
hard not to look at those guys.

Speaker 6 (16:31):
First all you you guys know I've been tracking. I
tracked that there this this the Western Conference and these
young players, these young teams all year long. I told
you guys about ok C in Minnesota. You guys, did
you push back and understood it, But I never waited
because I saw where they You know, it's not just him.
New Orders was coming before Zion got hurt again, but
New Orders was was was making a move. Uh, you

(16:54):
saw a lot of it, so you can you saw
the change of the guard in real time in the
Western Conference and guys are seeing it.

Speaker 5 (17:02):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (17:03):
Thanks Mark, appreciate you Rob real quick before we keep
it going. You worked in media for a long time.
You worked as a forward facing menmber of the media
for a long time TV and radio. Is there a
part of you that thinks the people at the Ringer
put Luca forth specifically because they knew that it would
generate interest and generate clicks. And maybe it was disingenuous

(17:26):
at least a little bit.

Speaker 5 (17:27):
No, because you like that. I get that.

Speaker 3 (17:32):
But once you start doing that, I think you could
lose some credibility. So you gotta be careful. I know
what you're saying. Well, if there was another, if this
was some other, because it because really robbed you to
get real.

Speaker 5 (17:47):
Like legs on this or clicks.

Speaker 3 (17:50):
He's tent, you know what I mean, Like he's gotta
be like that, like that's a good extreme extreme top
four like like really, I get it. You could say, well,
he's to be in the top three or whatever, but
today like they went out and put him in number ten.

Speaker 5 (18:04):
Okay, that makes sense. All right, let's keep it moving.

Speaker 4 (18:06):
We got Obie and la Obiere on the Akaba Fox
Sports Radio, which you got Obi afternoon.

Speaker 6 (18:10):
Mister Parker and mister G. Mister G doing a great job.

Speaker 5 (18:13):
What's up, Boby? How are you all right?

Speaker 6 (18:15):
How are you guys doing great?

Speaker 9 (18:18):
I would have to say that, mister fuck you seeing
all the time. It's nitpicking, right if you're in the
top five again nitpick? And you know, Luca's defense is
a little falt. He also is a lot like James Harden.
So I mean that's a little bit of a it's
a pitpicking and like you said it the new shiny
toy of the first three, I mean me, I put
him number three right because again his defense is a

(18:39):
little soft. So that's where I think they took a
little bit away from him.

Speaker 6 (18:43):
Thank you for taking the call. You got to have
a great afternoon.

Speaker 3 (18:45):
All right, Obi appreciated eight seven seven ninety nine on Fox.

Speaker 4 (18:49):
All right, let's sneak in one more before we get
to Donnie Waalburg go to Ennis in Corona and as
you're on the akabad thradio.

Speaker 10 (18:54):
What you got hey, guys, real quick, great show as always.
I think with Luca, yeah, he's definitely sided. I think
because he's not a two way player like the other
three guys in front of him.

Speaker 7 (19:05):
That's probably dropped him.

Speaker 10 (19:07):
And I know he wines like, you know.

Speaker 5 (19:09):
He's got to stop that. I know what. It's not
gonna happen.

Speaker 10 (19:11):
But Rob, look Rob, he's from the he's from Slovenia,
part of the former Yugoslavia. I used to im, I'm
from there. Over there wine all the time, went over
there and busted them on the basketball court. All they
did was wine. So it's it's very frustrating, and it's
not aesthetically so pleasing to watch. And his game offensively

(19:33):
isn't aesthetically pleasing to watch either, and so it's kind
of hard to like wrap your arms around it. But man,
he's been in the league so long, and like even
in the in the Olympics, they lost the I think
France or in FEEDB, but they lost to France in
the semi finals or finals, and like he didn't have
like he didn't even have like another NBA player on
the team. Like he's like and I don't know why,

(19:55):
like Dallas doesn't try to implement an offensive system like
that because he don't doesn't played the same for Colvania
like he does with Dallas, they're two different systems, and
so I don't know, but he's definitely he should feel slighted.
But you know, she us in his motivation, like guess
them come up, Like you know, now you're playing against
the guy who's number two on that list in the series,
Like you know, don't put these guys wrong.

Speaker 3 (20:19):
All right, thanks, and it's appreciate it, all right. Coming
up next, actor Donnie Wahlberg, The biggest Celtic fan going.
I can't wait to have him on the show. Uh,
that's next, But first let's get you caught up. Moncey Bolanos, Monzy,
what's up?

Speaker 11 (20:36):
I agree with Rob g. Yes, I agree with Rob Ge.

Speaker 5 (20:39):
So whatever I mean, you know what you guys. I
saw you guys like like it's a Latin thing.

Speaker 11 (20:46):
It's the Latin thing.

Speaker 5 (20:47):
Yes, but I do agree that he was slighted.

Speaker 11 (20:49):
And but that was an interesting point of view, Rob
when you said, was this on purpose to generate people
to talk about it?

Speaker 6 (20:56):
That is?

Speaker 11 (20:58):
But then I agree with mister Parker would have been
worse he was another.

Speaker 3 (21:02):
Eight or if he's down there and it's like a firestorm,
oh my god.

Speaker 11 (21:06):
Yeah, but good conversation, Fellas. We are almost there Game
one of the Western Conference Finals from Minnesota, almost there
Mavericks and Timberwolves, and we are already there. When it
comes to the NHL Game one of the East Finals
between the Rangers and the Panthers, they are still scoreless
early in the first period. Let's move on to Major
League Baseball, where the Padres have exploded. They're beating the

(21:28):
Red seven three bottom of the seventh inning, Marlin's holding onto.

Speaker 12 (21:31):
That lead over the Brewers one zero. They're about to
start the ninth inning in Miami. The Pirates are up
on the Giants five to three, top of the sixth inning.
Brian Reynolds of Pittsburgh with the grand slam in the
fourth inning. The Phillies are beating the Rangers six to three.
Bottom of the sixth inning. The Red Sox were down,
not anymore. They're beating the Rays eight three top of
the six. The Yankees have added two more runs, so

(21:51):
it's four zero against the Mariners. Bottom of the fifth.
The Blue Jays are blanking the White Sox. It's nine
zero bottom up the fourth, and the Braves beating the
Cubs two zero bottom of the fourth as well. In
the NFL, the league announced that the twenty twenty six
NFL Draft will be held in Pittsburgh, and ESPN reported
that forty nine Ers wide receiver Brandon Ayuk is not

(22:12):
participating in OTA's as he awaits a new contract. And
how about this NASCAR fine driver Ricky Stenhouse Junior seventy
five thousand dollars for punching Kyle Busch last weekend. This
is the largest fine handed out by NASCAR in history.

Speaker 5 (22:27):
Back to you guys, all.

Speaker 3 (22:30):
Right, thanks Montzie appreciated. Is the couple on a worship
Wednesday coming to you live from Thetirack dot Com studios
and momentarily we got you ready, Okay, Donnie Wahlberg, O guy,
Donnie Wahlberg of course, actor, singer, producer, director. I know
you watch them on Blue Bloods and all that, and

(22:52):
you watched them at the game in Boston. I mean
you got so much airtime, Donnie, my man, how are.

Speaker 6 (22:58):
You you know?

Speaker 7 (23:00):
We needed we needed good energy last night. We needed it.
I wash. You know, my phone was really quiet. All
the self experience are being real quiet until that three
pointed by Jalen Brown. And then I looked down at
my phone and during the during the timeout, yep, I
had nine thousand techs. Wow, man, half of them saying
let's go Celtics. The other half slayed your team. So lucky.

Speaker 3 (23:23):
And you know what, Donnie, we were talking earlier on
the show, and I believe this.

Speaker 5 (23:29):
Sure you got to have some luck.

Speaker 3 (23:31):
But to me, the Celtics winning that game when they
had no business winning it, they took advantage of it
and they made big plays. Jalen Brown, Tatum and overtime.
That's what good teams do. Don't you feel good about that?

Speaker 7 (23:46):
What they do? Whenever whenever teams put it this way,
if they lost the game, what would everyone say? You know,
they won the game, They pulled out, Jalen made the
shot to save the game, and Tatum found his rhythm
in overtime and carried them in overtime. And that's that's
what great players do. You know, you can't give a
great player a second chance, and Data got a second chance,

(24:08):
and you know, I would say, the great teams start.
And I'm not comparing the Celtics. Certainly we haven't won
anything yet with this with this team, so I'm not comparing.
But you know, when teams win championships, you need luck.
You need to take advantage of opportunities. You can't lose
games like this, you know, because honestly.

Speaker 9 (24:26):
You said the Celtics.

Speaker 7 (24:27):
Had no business winning the game. Really, Indiana had no
business being in the game the way it started and
the way the Celtics went back up in the third.
But we just kind of we got lulled into playing
their game, and that was always going to be a
dangerous situation with Indiana. You know, if you're scoring seventy
points at halftime against them, even if you're winning, your
playing their game. And we were sixty four points. I

(24:48):
think we played their game and we got away with it.
But you know, great teams and championship teams have to
win these games.

Speaker 3 (24:55):
Speaking of the Patients, we know most people didn't want them,
but they wanted to Knicks against the Celtics. Of course,
I know the networks wanted it. But my point is
the Pacers they can shoot a little bit. They shout
sixty against the Knicks and what was it last night,
fifty five?

Speaker 5 (25:12):
I mean, can we.

Speaker 3 (25:14):
Give them an oulte credit because they shoot the basketball
really well.

Speaker 7 (25:17):
They're a good team. You know, they went to the
midseason tournaments finals, yep, you know they lost. They'd beat
Boston to go there, and I think that gave them
a lot of beliefs that they could beat the Celtics
in this series. You know, I think they didn't show
up in the finals of the n season tournament, but

(25:38):
they really they're a tough team and if you don't
slow them down, you can lose to them. And honestly,
I thought the Knicks were a phenomenal story this year,
and I really was, you know, hoping it would be
New York Boston because I'm in New York filming Blue Bloods,
and I could go to all the games and I
would have fun, you know, getting in arguments with everyone

(26:00):
on the crew of Blue blood because they're all New
York fans. But I thought Indiana would wear New York
out because New York had so many injuries, and he
just you know, if they if they got to try
to keep up with the team, eventually it was gonna
wear them down. And in many ways it did, you know,
many ways, the New York just ran out of gas.
And they probably could have won the series. But they

(26:20):
just ran out of gas because the team does not stop,
and if you let up on d they can run
you right off the court.

Speaker 3 (26:26):
All right, here's what people are going to say about
your Celtics, Well, they should get to the finals. Everybody
else was hurt in the Eastern Conference, Right, the Knicks
were beat up of the Miami Right.

Speaker 5 (26:38):
Uh, they were beat up who else?

Speaker 6 (26:41):
Uh?

Speaker 3 (26:42):
Giannis was beat up or heard uh everybody everybody in
the East. But but that has no effect on what
you're doing. All you can do, right is play who's
available and who's out there. But how important is this
for the Celtics to have a chance And do they
have to win? Donnie like, because if they get out

(27:03):
of the East, you can say that. But they have
more experience than the Mavericks and the Tea Wolves. Why
shouldn't they be favorite and why shouldn't we believe that
the Celtics are finally going to get over the hurdle.

Speaker 7 (27:15):
Well, first of all, Rob, I love this new kind
of gentler.

Speaker 6 (27:19):
Rob, You're being so good for my Boston team. I
can't even believe.

Speaker 7 (27:22):
What I'm hearing.

Speaker 5 (27:23):
No, I'm just being honest.

Speaker 7 (27:25):
Yeah, because the Celtics hate is so real. Look, I
think that they definitely if they're fully healthy. And again,
we're missing one of our key players. You know, the
missing for Zingis is huge.

Speaker 5 (27:40):
No, that's a big loss.

Speaker 7 (27:42):
Yeah, it's making Al play more minutes than he wants to.
It's putting Luke Cornette in some tough situations. It's putting
a lot of pressure on the team. But I think
the Celtics can and should win the championship this year.
I think they're the best team. I think it's going
to be tough whoever comes out of the West and
they still got to finish off Indiana. This is we

(28:04):
only got one game down with them. But you know,
you can't control who you play, and this is a
very unusual year in the NBA, Like the Celtics really
haven't had any competitions so much so that even like
talking heads in Boston are like, this isn't even fun,
this is boring. We're just winning by twenty five every night.
I'm like, well, you are you mad that we're winning?

(28:26):
Right It's like, we can't control who we're playing. It's
you know, and then we get a good game last night,
it's a buzzer beater, and everyone's mad that it was
a closed game. I mean, you can't win right now.
This team, I think they overachieved early in their careers,
Tatum and Brown and some of the pad And you

(28:46):
could say the same thing about Lebron's teams that you know,
who did they play. They played the Celtics in the
conference finals one year with Kyrie was out for the season,
Ordon Hayward was out for the season, you know, and
they played a bunch of rookies and all m flaw.
They took them a seven game. So if you can
only play who was in front of you. The Celtics
are doing what they gotta do. They've had a few

(29:07):
messy games and hopefully, you know, last night was a
messy game and they just finally won one of those,
and they'll just they'll get through this series and Porzingis
will be healthy and I think they should be able
to win a championship. Their shit, it's not going to
be easy because they don't give championships away. If they did,
everyone would have one, no year.

Speaker 5 (29:25):
No doubt.

Speaker 3 (29:26):
I'll guess Donnie Wahlberg, of course, actor, singer, producer, director
and a star of Blue Bloods on the CBS, and
let me, let me get let me get hit this Donnie.
So everybody loves aunt Mann and with good reason. Obviously
he's twenty two years old. They got all the Michael
Jordan comparisons, and they're in the Western Conference finals, right that.
People didn't think that they'd be able to be Denver

(29:48):
and get there. But you know, they're making it like
we haven't seen a young guy do to kind of
things that ant Man did. But I hate to remind people,
but did Jason Tatum do the same thing like four
years ago? I mean, I think people have forgotten about
Tatum start and what he's been able to accomplish in

(30:09):
the NBA.

Speaker 7 (30:11):
Absolutely, I think Tatum and Jaylen Brown have done so
much and look, you know there there's been circumstances that
have kept them from winning. I mean, I think they
should have beaten Golden State. I don't think we were
deep enough in the finals that year. I think, you know,
a couple of Sam Howser threes, if he would have

(30:32):
played more, might have got us over the top in
some of those games. But you know, I think people
just sometimes what happens is, you know, we get into
the debating about sports so much, and everybody was like jokers,
this player.

Speaker 5 (30:47):
Of do we lose him.

Speaker 9 (30:54):
Here?

Speaker 5 (30:55):
Hello, yeah, we got you, donn ahead finish.

Speaker 6 (30:57):
I'm sorry, I'm so sorry.

Speaker 7 (30:58):
I'm in I'm in the Lincoln funnel.

Speaker 5 (31:00):
Do you see Chris. Chris got stuck in the tunnel.

Speaker 7 (31:04):
He's stuck somewhere because I can't even believe it didn't
show up for this conversation. I know, well, it's okay
because he usually defends me, but now you're being so
nice to my Celtics.

Speaker 4 (31:14):
We don't even need it.

Speaker 7 (31:17):
But I was just gonna say, you know, with an
he's playing incredible. You know, sometimes when we put teams
too high on a pedestal, then we're a surprise when
they lose. Like everyone said, Denver's gonna win, Denver's gonna
win the championship. Celtics can't handle Denver, Denver, Denver, Denver.
And then all of a sudden it was like, oh,
wait a minute. They lost in the second round to

(31:40):
a team that no one gave credit to. And you know,
they got Minnesota if you look at it on paper.
I mean, I didn't necessarily pick them to win the series.
But that's the playoffs built teams structurally they got They're
built for half court, they built for interior defense. You know,
that's that. It's the tough team to play in the playoffs,

(32:02):
and they were kind of built to be Denver, you know,
and they're gonna be tough on whoever they play. I
don't think Dallas is going to beat them, You're wrong,
you know. I didn't think Dallas is going to beat
OKAYC So who knows. But regardless, I think if the
Celtics get healthy and Poisingis comes back, and the longer
we keep winning games and don't have to rush him back.

(32:23):
The better chance we have to actually take advantage of
him coming back, because you know, it could be one
of those moments drop where they rush him back, he
hurts his ankle long term, and now we can't even
compete next year, you know. So it's they got to
hopefully keep him out as long as possible and then
bring him back when they need him, hopefully for the finals.
Hopefully we can beat Indiana without and it's not going

(32:44):
to be easy, but hopefully we can at least win
a few more games before we got to bring him back.
And then I'll take my guys over any team if
they're fully healthy this year, and if they don't win,
is it going to be disappointment? It's going to be
break up the Celtics.

Speaker 6 (32:59):
I don't think.

Speaker 7 (32:59):
So, Donny.

Speaker 3 (33:01):
If they don't win, Okay, now I'm gonna be mean.
If they don't win, they got to do something you
can't keep bring running it back, like like it's set
up for them a pretty easy road through the East
and then the West with these young you know, different
teams and teams that don't have the experience, haven't been
to the finals, like the Celtics like this, and I

(33:22):
get it with poor zingis being out, but other people
got people banged up or not playing. This to me
seems like the Celtics year. If you don't win it here,
when are you winning it?

Speaker 7 (33:33):
Well, that's a fair question, that's a fair question. But
I'm not sure what more is out there. I mean,
we broke it up last year. You know, many people
thought keep Rob Williams, yep, you know, Keith Barcus smart,
pick up one more player and we're good. And you
know the roster's completely turned upside down. I think, you know,

(33:55):
last night a lot of people and I'm answering your question,
but I'm referencing last night is a way to answer it.
I think last night's game showed, you know, Drew Holidays lunch.
He was so clutched up the game, so many little plays.
He scored a lot of points. He made so many
great plays that really kept us from blowing the game.

(34:15):
Just takeaways and loose balls. I mean, all these clutch
plays that don't really get recorded in the statuet, although
his stat line was pretty incredible. You know, if he
plays the way he can play and brings that that leadership,
that you know, we we traded for him for and
for Zingis is healthy, and and and the bench guys
are playing good. I will say one thing, We're not

(34:37):
the deepest team. Everyone's like Celtics are so deep. We're
really we're only playing like seven guys right now in
the playoffs. I mean, we're not the deepest team. But hopefully,
if everyone's healthy and playing good, we will have the
depth and we'll be able to pull this thing together.
And I'm not worried about next year. We got to
focus on this year. If they don't win it, we'll
deal with next year. Next year.

Speaker 3 (34:57):
I hear you, Donnie, and we always appreciate you man.
Thank you so much for giving us some time. We'll
be seeing you on TV jumping around, and when they
get to the finals, we'll talk to you.

Speaker 5 (35:07):
And if they win it, you know we're gonna talk
to you, Donnie.

Speaker 7 (35:10):
I look forward to it talking.

Speaker 5 (35:12):
Yep. All right, and Chris sends his regards.

Speaker 3 (35:15):
Thanks, Donnie Wahlberg joining us here on the odd Couple appreciated.

Speaker 5 (35:19):
All right. Coming up next, I have a bone to
pick with Lebron James. What a shocker.

Speaker 3 (35:25):
All right, we'll do that next it is The Odd
Couple right here on Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 7 (35:29):
Stick and stay unless you're a Lebron James fan in
the US of A.

Speaker 5 (35:34):
Thanks for listening to The Odd Couple podcast.

Speaker 3 (35:36):

All Right, it is The Odd Couple on a worship Wednesday,

(36:00):
coming to you live from the tire Rack dot com studios.
Chris Pshaw is finally made it home. We'll be talking
to him. He'll join the show in about eleven minutes
at the top of the hour. But Rob Parker, Rob G,
Rob G, Lebron James making news as always.

Speaker 4 (36:20):
Yeah, Lebron James is a fan of Kaitlyn Clark. Unlike
Rob Parker.

Speaker 3 (36:24):
What but I'm not saying I'm not a fan. I'm
just I just said that.

Speaker 4 (36:30):
What but like Rob Parker that her debut was a bust. Okay,
Lebron James has a way of making things about himself
talking about Kaitlyn Clark on his podcast thick Lise.

Speaker 13 (36:43):
That I love that she's bringing to her sport. More
people want to watch, more people want to tune in.
Don't get it twisted, don't.

Speaker 6 (36:51):
Get it picked up.

Speaker 13 (36:52):
Kaitlin Clark is the reason why a lot of great
things is going to happen for the WNBA. But for
her individually, I think she should get involved on nothing
that's being said. Just go have fun, enjoy, you know.
But I'm route for Caitlin because I've been in that
seat before, I've walked that road before. I hope they
I hope she kills I hopefully at Boston does amazing,

(37:15):
you know, I hope they do great.

Speaker 6 (37:20):
Wow.

Speaker 5 (37:22):
Of course he had to introduce himself away his conversation.
He's the King.

Speaker 3 (37:27):
Why can't it just be about Caitlin and all? Well,
I know all about this because I was under the
same kind of pressure. No, her pressure is bigger. Oh yeah,
her pressure is about the entire league, not about just herself,
about whether or not this league is finally, after thirty
some odd years, almost thirty years, going to be a
legitimate league and not just a subsidized league by the NBA.

(37:52):
Right your spot on rock for real, Lebron come on
you want to pass our little comment compliment or whatever,
but that just doesn't make any sense or any reason
to bring yourself in this. She's on, she's trying to
carry women's basketball to a new plateau.

Speaker 4 (38:10):
And you know what's funny, Robbers later on, we didn't
hear the full sound, but later on he finds a
way to throw in Bronnie's name in there, to be like, yeah,
you know, Bronni and her going through the same thing.
People rooting for him to fail as well, And it's
like they're not even close to the same conversation.

Speaker 3 (38:25):
But and and to say that people are rooting for
her to fail, she got a huge fan base.

Speaker 5 (38:30):
They just signed a deal.

Speaker 4 (38:31):
With Wilson Basketball, becoming just the second athlete ever this
oud of Michael Jordan to get a deal with will to.

Speaker 3 (38:38):
Say, really, I'm not saying that there's some people who
probably don't like her, but I think it's way more
in favor of her who are excited about her and
what she brings to the table. When she started making
those logo threes, people took notice of the app they
and they got caught up with that stuff. I'm just
I don't agree that everybody her and brownis in the same.

Speaker 4 (39:02):
Situation, not at all. And rob to your original point.
When Lebron James was coming up, there was a lot
of pressure obviously because he was the chosen one at
age sixteen.

Speaker 5 (39:10):
So when you put.

Speaker 4 (39:11):
Chosen one on your own back, you know, you're kind
of welcoming it.

Speaker 5 (39:14):
I have acting on my back, chosen on his back,
you know, I have that on the back of my neck.

Speaker 4 (39:18):
Soo right.

Speaker 5 (39:19):
But but with.

Speaker 4 (39:19):
Lebron, if he would have failed, it would have been
just him. It would have been Hey, this guy who
we thought was the second coming failed to live up
like the expectations, just like thousands of other guys, but
a ton of guys, right. But this is what Kaylyn
Clark is her pressure is. It's not just her if
she if she doesn't perform, well, it's not just oh

(39:42):
Kaylen Clark wasn't as good in the pros as she
was in college. It's the entire league, which just got
chartered flights right, which which it was just hopefully going
to turn a profit, you know, in the near future,
which is finally starting to get regularly over a million viewers,
you know per game. If she fails, if she's not

(40:03):
as good as advertised, then all of that goes out
the window. The entire league, the entire sport of women's basketball,
is counting on her to be as good as we
all hope she can be.

Speaker 3 (40:17):
They're all riding with her, you can say. And I've
seen the other one. Was it was it Reese saying yes,
saying there are other players playing in the league to
you know, like why we keep doing that?

Speaker 5 (40:31):
Why do we keep why do we keep doing that?

Speaker 4 (40:34):
It just it just speaks to and I know because
I'm a Laker fan, I'm supposed to be a Lebron
Guyan to a lot of extent, I am, you are,
But I can see why people don't like him, Like
he has a way of doing and saying things that
just totally lacks self awareness.

Speaker 3 (40:49):
Yeah, always interjecting himself, right and and and you know
you hear that saying making it about yourself like like
it always seems to come around and I get it
all right. Number three of the program, a guy named
Chris Bouchard might stop by, allegedly allegedly. We'll see how
that works out, and we'll talk about I'm here inside

(41:11):
the NBA. Oh you are there, there you go, Chris.
We'll talk about inside the NBA. Yeah, I heard you
dying to talk about it. Yes I am, and we'll
do that.

Speaker 10 (41:20):
Stick and stay unless you're Chris Brussard at the us
of A.
