Bottom of the hour. Friend of the show, Calvin Watkins,
who covers the Dallas Cowboys for the Dallas Morning News,

(01:03):
will join us.

Speaker 2 (01:04):
That'll be a lot of fun, lots.

Speaker 5 (01:05):
To get into with him downexall okay, good, good good,
and uh we will talk to him of course about
Dak Prescott and Moore and shop talk.

Speaker 2 (01:19):
Following that to wrap up our number two.

Speaker 1 (01:23):
All right, Rob Dwayne Wade was on Carmelo Anthony's podcast
seven PM.

Speaker 2 (01:30):
In Brooklyn is what it's called. That's a nice name.

Speaker 1 (01:33):
And uh, they were talking about, you know, the heatles, Lebron,
the Wayne Wade, Chris Bosh and that whole four year
run that they had where they reached four NBA finals,
uh and one two back to back in the middle years.

(01:54):
But here's what Wade had to say Rob about his
time to Carmelo Anthony.

Speaker 6 (01:59):
Nobody wanted My team didn't want it. My family didn't
want it. They were pissed. Bron team didn't Bron team
didn't want it. No one wanted that to happen. The
game of basketball did wanted to happen. So I made
sure I linked myself to Lebrin even more because I
knew we had to be so tight but or it
was going to be a failure.

Speaker 1 (02:21):
Well, first I'll say this, Rod, because as you know,
I was covering that very closely for ESPN at.

Speaker 2 (02:26):
The time, and.

Speaker 1 (02:30):
I know I did talk to people in Lebron's camp.
I'm thinking of one person in particular that definitely was
not excited about this happening. Obviously, it's Lebron's was Lebron's decision,
so this person knew their Lane, but was not excited

(02:51):
about it happening. But you know, once Lebron made up
his mind, they just tried to make the most of it.
But and you know, support him any way they could.
But yeah, Dwayne Wade is is not just it's not
that's not revisionist history. Like I said, at least with
one person. I'm not sure if le Bron's entire team

(03:14):
is way he called it didn't want it, But I
know there was at least one person that did not
who was you know, and this is not a bit player.
This is somebody that's you know, really important.

Speaker 2 (03:28):
And so outside of that, Rob, it's interesting that he
says we didn't want it. He didn't want to be
a failure.

Speaker 1 (03:40):
They won two championships in four years. And I've said
this many times and on this show, Rob, I was
on Sports Center that night, I was, you know, on
ESPN all almost around the clock around when this was happening.
And if you had told me after the decision was

(04:03):
made that they're going to win two of the next
four championships, I would have been like, that's it, Like
what I mean, they gotta win at least three. And
when I look back at it now, I don't look

(04:25):
at it as a failure for sure. I mean, you
went back to back championships, you reached four NBA finals,
they had a run where they won twenty seven straight games,
but they certainly didn't reach their full potential. They certainly
didn't fulfill their promise with that run. It would have

(04:48):
taken at least three championship. And I'm not even saying
a three peat. Some people might throw that in there,
but I think they would have had to win at
least three in those four years. Really, you know, kind
of live up to the billing. So not a failure,
but I would say an underachievement for sure.

Speaker 2 (05:11):
They failed.

Speaker 7 (05:12):
Chris Broussard, you're trying to sugarcoat it disappointing.

Speaker 2 (05:17):
No, No, they failed, Chris. And how you fail when
you won two champions.

Speaker 7 (05:22):
Because when you when you put together that team and
that's why.

Speaker 1 (05:26):
That's already durrant one with Golden State, which was eveven
better team.

Speaker 7 (05:31):
But but here's the problem, Chris, when they put that
team together, it wasn't about winning two championship. Lebron got
up on that stage in Miami and what he said,
not two, not three, not four, Chris not six and
people have right people and when I say that, I
believe it. Thank you, Lebron. And now is what the
feeling was. Who's gonna beat them? Nobody? Chris? And then

(05:55):
this team that's broken down Dallas Mavericks team with one superstar,
right and what JJ Berea whatever his name was, Yeah,
that was it, Chris, and they beat them and they
don't do anything that was special. Three in a row
with special Shack and Kobe Special Michael Jordan. Three in

(06:18):
a row special they did that. That that the Celtics, Right,
Who else am I missing?

Speaker 1 (06:25):
There's a there been three three peats since Bill Russ obviously, Okay,
you know they want to right, but you get me.

Speaker 2 (06:30):
Chris Jordan did two of them and the Shack and Kobe.

Speaker 8 (06:33):
That's it.

Speaker 7 (06:34):
That's what makes you special. This was supposed to Heatles
like the Beatles. They were supposed to be special. They
wind up not being special. Kobe and Palgasol won two. Chris,
you know what I mean? Back to back, Yeah, back
to back. Yeah, that's what about it.

Speaker 1 (06:51):
You're right, that's what that's what does the biggest special
teams that weren't quote unquote super teams.

Speaker 2 (06:58):
Ryan back to back.

Speaker 7 (07:00):
And this was a super team. People were shaking in
their boots. But then when Lebron said that, people thought, oh,
how they gonna who's goulda beat them? They're loaded at
that time, Chris, Right, they're loaded.

Speaker 1 (07:11):
Oh yeah, they were, they were. I mean it, Rob,
I mean Dwayne Wade at the time. First of all,
he had already won a championship without Lebron, right, And
if people remember, I mean Dwayne Wade was a top
five player.

Speaker 2 (07:29):
Lebron was the best player in the world.

Speaker 1 (07:32):
I think I definitely think it was the best player
in the world at that point twenty ten, Dwayne Wade
was the top five player and Chris bosh was an
All NBA player.

Speaker 2 (07:47):
At in Toronto with his own team a number one option.

Speaker 1 (07:52):
And like I said, that's why I would have been
shocked that anybody would have said, they're only gonna win two.
I'm not gonna I'm still not gonna say just because
they won back to back, but I stick with disappointment here.
I will say this to Rob, and I think you know,
in the Goat conversation, I've got Jordan Lebron's number two

(08:16):
from my list, same with you, And I think one
of the arguments against Lebron being the goat. And this
is gonna be Rob g his twenty first year, twenty
first year in the league. Yepka, Rob Lebron in his

(08:37):
twenty one seasons has never been on like an all
time great team. And I know that this Heatles team
was great. I mean, I'm not saying they weren't great,
and if you go ten deep, you know they're somewhere
in the ten.

Speaker 2 (08:55):
But I'm talking about Rob a his story, you know
what I mean.

Speaker 1 (09:00):
In a dynasty time Lakers, we got the you know,
Shack and Kobe Lakers, the Warriors of Stephen k. D. Like,
we we've got teams that we name and the Heats
are not one of them.

Speaker 2 (09:15):
No, they can't be.

Speaker 7 (09:17):
They can't be because there was too much uh disappointment,
and especially Christa Dallas Mavericks one.

Speaker 2 (09:26):
No, right, that's the one.

Speaker 1 (09:27):
I mean because and Rob I think and and contrary
to popular opinion, I do acknowledge, think, believe, and have
no problem saying Dirk Novinsky is an all time great player.

Speaker 2 (09:42):
He's awesome, all right, But I.

Speaker 1 (09:45):
Think one of the reasons people feel like I underestimate
Dirk and maybe one of the reasons I don't. I
put a lot of stock. That's a great championship. He
beat you know, a big three by you know, not
by himself, but he was the only superstar. Jason Kid
at that point was old and not even in his prime.

(10:07):
But Rob to me, the number one thought image remembrance
of that finals that I have is not Dark Novitski
and Jason Terry and.

Speaker 2 (10:22):
All these guys, you know, just taking it to the heat.
It's Lebron folding.

Speaker 1 (10:32):
And that's why I'm that's why Dallas won because Lebron
just melted down. That's it. That's why they won. They
were the Heat, were up to one. Lebron and Way
were joking it was we knew it was over. They
were the better team, and then Lebron just disappeared, and

(10:57):
that's why. So that's why it's a championship for Dallas.
I don't take it away. It's a great accomplishment. But
that's probably why in my mind I look at it
like the main thing I think about is the heatels
falling apart.

Speaker 7 (11:12):
Yep, it's hard not to think that quis because that
you're right, and they thought that that was I don't
want to say in the bag.

Speaker 2 (11:21):
But in the bag, that's what they're right. We're joking
about dirt coughin. Oh he got Oh yeah he's sick.
Oh yeah, oh yeah he was sick.

Speaker 7 (11:29):
No, the Heatles were sick after they wind up losing
that championship.

Speaker 1 (11:34):
Crime, right, And but that do you agree, like when
you talk got and again we got Lebron number two,
So it's not a disc but we always say, you nitpicked.
All of these dudes are incredible and when you're literally
looking at I mean, Michael Jordan was a part of

(11:54):
I mean, like I said, rob three three peats since
Bill Russell and Jordan's got two of them and Lebron
in twenty one years, never a part of like a
historically great I mean the upper upper elite team.

Speaker 7 (12:11):
When you talk about you remember that team, You remember
Check and Kobe. They won without call Malone and Gary Payton,
you know what I mean? It was those two and
we do think about that and some of these other teams.
Chris and then you can't put the heat in that
class because they didn't do anything that was really special.

(12:34):
And I think that's why to me it was a failure,
because they really expected to do something. Had they won,
if they've been together, Chris all four years and won
all four championships, you know what?

Speaker 9 (12:50):
Am I right?

Speaker 2 (12:51):
And honestly, I mean yeah, oh they would be. They
would arguably be the greatest team ever that they would be.

Speaker 7 (12:59):
It'd be like, oh, they put together and guess what
they were all for it like they were supposed to.

Speaker 2 (13:04):
Lebron was right, not two, not three, four, and then
Lebron lee.

Speaker 8 (13:07):
Because right and.

Speaker 2 (13:10):
Exactly No, there's no doubt. There is no doubt. I
will say this, Rob.

Speaker 1 (13:17):
When they lost that first year, even though it was
their own fault, it wasn't like again that the Mavericks
were better, but that that It's It would have been
interesting Rob to see how fans would have reacted had
they won the first year and maybe went on to
win at least the next at least three and maybe

(13:38):
all four.

Speaker 2 (13:39):
Because them losing Rob that first.

Speaker 1 (13:42):
Year, I do think like got a lot of fans
off their back because people thought it was gonna be
so easy, and then they go out there and lose
the first one, and now it was like, you know,
people are like, okay, they they got a mountain to climb,
and then they did climb it the next two years,
so I just think people viewed it as tougher than

(14:07):
they would have had they won the first one.

Speaker 2 (14:09):
It's like with Durant Robert.

Speaker 1 (14:11):
You still have people Walt Frazier saying that there's a
mental asterisk by those championships, and people still in some
corners downplayed the championships and what they meant for Durant
because it was viewed as easy and Lebron. I do
think they I don't want to say called a break,

(14:31):
but I think that changed the way people.

Speaker 2 (14:33):
Looked at that team. Would you agree with that?

Speaker 10 (14:35):
Yeah?

Speaker 2 (14:36):
I do to a certain extent.

Speaker 7 (14:37):
I do, yeah, because they weren't gangbusters to start, yep.
So it kind of derailed them a little bit as
far as people and the way they viewed them.

Speaker 11 (14:47):
Yep.

Speaker 2 (14:48):
All right. Eight seven seven ninety nine on Fox.

Speaker 1 (14:51):
Interesting question, here were the heatles the four years of Lebron,
Wade and Bosh A failure. I say it was disappointing, underachieving.
Rob goes further failure. Your thoughts eight seven seven ninety nine,

Speaker 2 (17:00):
Chris, let's kick it off with Justin and Syracuse. You're
on the odd couple of Fox Sports Radio. What's up Justin?

Speaker 10 (17:08):
How we're doing guys?

Speaker 2 (17:10):
Yes, sir, you too? All right?

Speaker 10 (17:12):
Uh?

Speaker 13 (17:13):
Three quick points.

Speaker 3 (17:15):
Lebron James has seventeen points in that final against the Mavericks,
and I can't recall.

Speaker 13 (17:22):
Some of the goats letting that get away from them.

Speaker 3 (17:25):
And kicking taking that time in the finals or any
time the.

Speaker 13 (17:30):
Big moment and dropping the ball like that second point.
He had three Hall of Famers, Well, there was three
Hall of famers on that team. And two championships more.

Speaker 2 (17:40):
Yeah, Ray wasn't on that team. I'm just thinking it
was anybody else. Yeah, you're right, I think they just
had three.

Speaker 14 (17:47):
Yeah, obviously.

Speaker 13 (17:49):
And the thing is, I think it was really disrespectful
to the ones, you know, some of the Hall of famers,
some of the great players that played the game, to
say not won that two, that three, and it was
like a joke. And it's like for him for him
to say that to me, just it just it's going
to diminish his legacy just a bit when it comes
to someone.

Speaker 3 (18:07):
To go to the game.

Speaker 8 (18:09):
That's fair.

Speaker 2 (18:09):
Appreciate the call.

Speaker 1 (18:10):
Here's what I will say quickly when you're talking about
Lebron versus Jordan. I mean, Jordan never had a moment
like that. He lost, but it wasn't because he kind
of melted down. But you look at a lot of
the other ones, and you can point to mo like
Magic Rob, the Tragic Johnson series, Larry Bird's first finals.

(18:31):
He had two eight point games, you know, in another
twelve point game back all three straight. I mean, you know,
eight points twice and twelve points once in a three
game stretch. So we've seen other great ones, you know,
struggle like that. You just haven't seen Jordan struggle and
that's why most many people think he's a goat.

Speaker 7 (18:53):
Yep eight seven seven ninety nine on Fox? Who was
that Rick in Louisiana? You're on the a couple of
Fox Sports Radio?

Speaker 9 (19:01):
What's up?

Speaker 11 (19:01):
Rigg?

Speaker 15 (19:02):
Hey?

Speaker 10 (19:03):
How you doing? Thanks a lot for taking my call
and love your shore.

Speaker 2 (19:06):
Thank you, buddy, Thank you for the support. Appreciate you.

Speaker 10 (19:09):
But Rob, I will say that in time you you
might want to leave Mike Tyson alone getting knocked out
the dreams. But that's another story for it.

Speaker 2 (19:18):
Well, that that fight won't ever happen, Right, it was
not gonna happen.

Speaker 10 (19:22):
Oh okay, I don't know like.

Speaker 2 (19:25):
It's going to happen. Christy J. Paul's gotta fight? Is
it this weekend? He's got a fight coming in. I'm
just saying I think there's a chance it won't happen.
But all right, good.

Speaker 10 (19:35):
Chance, all right.

Speaker 14 (19:37):
Uh.

Speaker 10 (19:38):
As far as it being a failure, I don't think
it's a failure. I think first of all, uh, there
was about three things that excuse me that stand out
in my mind. One, when when they first started out,
they were trying to figure out how to win a
game because they were trying to see who's going to
be the leader and who was not going to be
the leader, and right and and I also thing too

(20:01):
when when Chris Boshton I used to watch him, you know,
throughout his career, and he was a low post, but
when he came to Miami, he was shooting threes. That
didn't make much sense to me. But you know, I
still think that even when you put any teams together,
you have to learn how to win. But here's the

(20:22):
whole another level.

Speaker 1 (20:23):
No we here. I remember I was at their first game.
It was in Boston, and they looked terrible and they
got beat. But over the course of the season they
got good. They had figured it out, right, I mean
they they remember my Chicago had I believe Chicago had
had gotten I know, they got the best of them

(20:43):
in the regular season, Rob, and then in the playoffs,
the Heat beat Boston in five and niggas of the
Eastern Conference finals and beat Chicago in five. So they
were rolling by that point. They had figured it out
and they just fell apart in the finals. All right,

(21:05):
it's the eye couple, Chris and Rob. We've got Calvin
Watkins around the corner.

Speaker 11 (21:10):
But first, be sure to catch live editions of The
Odd Couple with Chris Brussard and Rob Parker weekdays at
seven pm Eastern four pm Pacific on Fox Sports Radio
and the iHeartRadio app.

Speaker 1 (21:21):
We're live from the tirerack dot Com studios. Our next
guest does a great job covering the Cowboys for the
Dallas Morning News. You've heard him here before. He's a
friend of the show. We welcome in Calvin Watkins. Calvin,
welcome to the Coble.

Speaker 10 (21:38):
What's going on?

Speaker 8 (21:39):
HOI you?

Speaker 14 (21:41):
I'm good.

Speaker 10 (21:41):
I'm good.

Speaker 2 (21:43):
Good to have you on. Man.

Speaker 1 (21:45):
I heard you saw Rob down there during the All
Star Game, so it was good to spend a little time.

Speaker 7 (21:52):
We went out to breakfast. I hooked him over with
some MLB Bro merch and we went to a party
on Saturday night.

Speaker 2 (21:58):
We had a good time. Definitely, cal Calvin, you're gonna
wear that MLB bro stuff.

Speaker 14 (22:09):
Camp. I need some gear for the next three weeks.

Speaker 7 (22:11):
That's right when he's at Cowboys camp and Dak Prescott says,
where'd you get that MLB bro stuff?

Speaker 2 (22:16):
I need one of those, no doubt.

Speaker 1 (22:24):
All right, Well, look, obviously a lot of news or
a lot of questions, I should say, surrounding the Cowboys,
Dak Prescott unsigned. All the reports we've seen Stephen Jones
talk about how the Cowboys are still.

Speaker 2 (22:39):
Committed to Dak, how they want Dak.

Speaker 1 (22:41):
Do you think this deal gets done before the season
and if not, If it's it would seem the spell
that this is the last year for Dak and Dallas
unless they were to at least maybe get to the
Super Bowl.

Speaker 14 (22:57):
I think they'll get it done some point. Now. Will
they get it done before the start of the season.
I think they will, But if not, they're taking a
big chance because they can't franchise back. They can't put
the franchise tag on him. So if they don't get
it done right now, then you know what, he's out

(23:18):
in the market and get luck trying to get back
because he was going to pay him.

Speaker 7 (23:24):
Who Yeah, No, I mean there's a there's that. What
about Mike McCarthy, Where does he stand? Obviously he's playing
on it. I mean he's coaching on the last year
of a contract as well. Is this, Uh, what's the
chances if they don't win a Super Bowl him not
being back.

Speaker 14 (23:41):
I think McCarthy has got to get this team to
like the NFC Championship game, right at least right at
least at least now, if they get knocked out in
like the original round, then I'd be surprised if he
came back because the other guy, who's when you let

(24:01):
Darth for ten years, Jason Garrett, that's what he did.
He got you to the division round. Mike McCarthy, who
was one of the Super Bowls. You guys know, he's
supposed to take you to the Province Land or close
to it, but instead you just got into the first floor.
So he'd be looking for a place of employment. I
think if he doesn't get this team to the championship,

(24:23):
the conference championship game, at least McCarthy hired an agent
this offseason. Don Yee used to be Tom Brady's agent,
and so that was telling me that, you know what,
he expects to either be with the Cowboys with an
extension or if someone else is going to say, hey,
Mike McCarthy will hire you as a head coach or

(24:45):
will hire you as an offensive coordinator.

Speaker 2 (24:48):
They lost a lot this offseason.

Speaker 1 (24:50):
I think they had a good draft when it came
to offensive lineman, but obviously they lost to Ron Smith.

Speaker 2 (24:56):
They lost Tyler Beadish, Tony Pollard.

Speaker 1 (25:00):
Durrance Armstrong, Dan Quinn the defensive coordinator. I don't think
Calvin on paper that they're as good as they were
a year ago, do.

Speaker 14 (25:10):
You No, I don't think they're they're as good as
they were. The running back is The running back position
is a mess. It's going to be back to mess.
It's going to be boxing committee. You know, ceedee lymb
is holding out. He wants his money. And if you
don't have Cede Wamn, you got Brandon Cooks and a
bunch of guys. You know. The linebacker spot. They signed

(25:34):
Eric Hendricks in pre agency and he's he's pretty good,
but he's not Ray Lewis's calmed back down, you know.
But the front seven, the defensive line is just like
Manzie Smith was a first off pick last year and
he was abusinal and you know, the scheme messed him up.
Then he had shoulder surgery in the off season, so

(25:54):
we're not sure what he's going to be. So, yeah,
they're not as good as they were last year. They
weren't a lot of upgrades to the roster.

Speaker 7 (26:02):
What about Michael Parsons and just you know, we found
out that some teammates aren't that crazy about the podcast
stuff or whatever, and maybe he should pay attention and
button up everything. And we know that they got destroyed
by Green Bay, and he claimed that he played pretty
well if everybody else didn't just his podcast and all that. Like,

(26:27):
is that necessary or will the Cowboys say anything? Or
is it hard to say something because Jerry has a show.

Speaker 10 (26:32):
Every week, It's kind of hard.

Speaker 14 (26:35):
Like you said, Rob, it's hard to say, hey, you
have need to stop that podcast when Jerry Jones on
the radio twice a week. Stephen Jones is on the radio.

Speaker 2 (26:44):
Oh, he's on twice a week. And I didn't know
Jerry had twice a week. And Stephen Jones too.

Speaker 14 (26:50):
Yeah, Jerry's on Tuesday morning and Friday morning, and Stephen
Jones is on the radio as well, I think Thursday,
you know. And so yes, so the top two minute
in the front office are on the radio, you know,
a minimum twice a week.

Speaker 9 (27:09):
You know.

Speaker 14 (27:10):
So now I'm gonna tell you you can't go on
the radio at all. Right, But I understand what Malik Hooker,
who's the player that was questioning some things about Michael
Parsons because Michael Parsons and you guys know football. You know,
when the off season program started, Michael was not there,
and Michael complained about the chemistry. Well, you can't complain
about the chemistry. You're not in the building when it's

(27:31):
opening in the first day, you know. And he went
to Tokyo with C. J. Strong and he was wrestling
sumo rustlers. He's at the playoff game. He Sason was
at everything, getting booed in Philly at the Sixers nickname.

Speaker 4 (27:45):
You know.

Speaker 14 (27:46):
I get it, young guy. You want to go around
the country and sell your brand. I get it. But
you make your money in the National Football League and
you need to get the league, you know. And Dak
Prescott was there and he wants a contract, you know.
And Mike McCarthy was not happy with Michael Parson's not
being there. Now when it was time for the mandatory
mini camp, Michael Parsons was there because why he wants

(28:09):
his money. He don't want to be bying, right, So
we get that. So they got to work on that.
He's not dropping a podcast at all, He's not. It's
a live show.

Speaker 7 (28:18):
I wanted to rename it anyway, turn Off your Micah Parsons.

Speaker 2 (28:27):
Man, Hey, let me ask you this.

Speaker 1 (28:29):
Calvin Trey Lance, and obviously they haven't yet started camp,
but has he shown them anything that because you, like
you said, if they don't sign Dak before the season,
then he could be out of there. Has Trey Lance
shown them anything to make them think he could actually
be a replacement for Dak in the future.

Speaker 14 (28:51):
Let's get some reality here. Yeah, three quarterbacks right in
the room. Daks got Cooper Rush and Trey Lance. All
three of those guys in the last year of their deals.
So there's no guarantees that any of them guys are
gonna come back next year. So they don't know what
they have in Trey Lance. They gave him a fourth

(29:11):
round pick for him to San Francisco to get him.
Lance is going to compete with Cooper Rush for the
number two job. Like McCarthy said, he loves what that
Trey Lance is doing in the workouts, and so in
the three preseason games that the Cowboys will have, we
will find out if Trey Lance can't beat out Cooper

(29:32):
Rush to be the back of the Dak Prescott, then
then you know what then you need? Then you have
everything you need. To know about Trey Lance. Trey Lanson's
not gonna be out Dk Preuscott. That's not happening, right,
So Trey Lance has got to be the number two guy, right,
So if you don't resign Dak Truscott, you got to
take a hard look at Trey Lance and say, can

(29:52):
he win ten twelve games for me in twenty twenty five?
You know, and the sample fix was very small? Is
it three preseason games you're gonna have this year? And
obviously the handful of starts he had with San Francisco
when they drafted him in the first round a couple
of years ago. So the whole QB room is unsettled.
There's a lot of question marks. But one thing that

(30:14):
we do know, Dak Prescott will start Week one in Cleveland.
That's the only thing we know.

Speaker 1 (30:19):
Let me ask you this, is there any thought with
the Cowboys because you know, you see a lot of
teams now trying to capitalize on a quarterback on the
rookie contract. We see Houston, you know, they're obviously a
good team with a rookie young quarterback. Chicago a lot
of people expect stuff from them, even San Francisco, you know,

(30:41):
brock Purdy, you know, mister ir relevant. They've been great
with him because they have so many things around those guys.

Speaker 2 (30:49):
Is there any thinking in.

Speaker 1 (30:50):
Dallas that, like, if Dak failed, I shouldn't say Dak
fails this year, but you know, let's say it's a
typical year and they go out in the second round
of the playoffs. Is there any thought of, you know what,
let's let's try this route where we you know, we
pay Micah, we pay ced Land, We got all these
great players around a quarterback, and we get a young

(31:13):
quarterback on the rookie deal who can go out there
and play well with all these stars.

Speaker 2 (31:18):
Is there any thought of trying to do it like
the Niners way that they're doing it.

Speaker 14 (31:22):
Right now, Let's be honest. So not as how lucky
with brock Purdy.

Speaker 2 (31:27):
Absolutely, there was the reason why I was in the.

Speaker 14 (31:30):
Seventh round because they didn't think much of them, right,
and then they got lucky. So say they go that route,
they go, you know what, Dak will let you play
this out and say they get knocked out a second
round of the playoffs. So that drafted in the top
ten drafting twenty seven, twenty six, twenty five so you
gotta hope that one of those quarterbacks falls to you.

(31:51):
And next year, I think it's gonna be a pretty
good QB class. So you hope one of those QB's
false fall to you. If not, then you gotta say,
you gotta move up in the draft, and we gotta
trade somebody. We gotta trade. We gotta trade to two
one to move up, and then we still got to
hope we can get one of those quarterbacks. So it's
a lot of hoping. You know, you don't want a

(32:12):
lot of hope. And if you if that's the business
you're in, we hope, we hope. You hope you're gonna
be in it. You're gonna be in the top five
of the draft every year hoping. So if I was them,
I would I would take care of Dak Prescott. If not,
and don't resign Cde Lamb and don't resign Dak Prescott,
tell Mike McCarthy go kick rocks and we start all over. Wow,

(32:34):
you can't. You can't rebuild halfway. Either you gonna do
it real, a complete rebuild, or or we're gonna go
for it. You know it's hard to do a halfway.

Speaker 7 (32:44):
We build right.

Speaker 14 (32:46):
You know what I'm saying. So you look at basketball teams,
if you look at the NBA, those teams they do
total rebuild.

Speaker 10 (32:53):
That's it, you know.

Speaker 14 (32:54):
Like Brooklyn. Brooklyn was like, we get it anybody. They
definitely trade the person. We get it everybody. The Sixers
ten years ago, they got rid of everybody. Like if
you look at the Lakers, the Lakers are doing what
don't want keep le Bron and try to put people around.

Speaker 10 (33:09):
Them and look what they've got.

Speaker 14 (33:10):
You know, So either gonna rebuild. There's a way to rebuild.
Everyone's gonna be mad, but you have to talk a plan.
It's all right. The problem they're red.

Speaker 2 (33:20):
That's Kylvin Watkins down Morning News. Shop man.

Speaker 15 (34:15):
That's right, It is shop talk here on the YAKA
but Fox Sports Rado segment we talk about something that
happened outside of the world of sports. This week's topic
comes to us from the field of aviation. I don't
know if you heard about this one Sherevron Parker did
because he travels every week.

Speaker 11 (34:27):
Uh.

Speaker 15 (34:28):
There was a massive system crash in the world of
the airline industry and as a result, darn near every
single major airline was grounded for hours globally Delta, United
American just to name a few. However, there was one airline,

(34:48):
Titan that.

Speaker 8 (34:49):
Was up and running.

Speaker 2 (34:50):
I already know it, America.

Speaker 9 (34:52):
Rob.

Speaker 8 (34:53):
It was not your guys that said one Spirit Spirit.

Speaker 15 (34:56):
No, it was Southwest Airlines and a forty to one
roll over listed in Yahoo.

Speaker 2 (35:03):
You find out why the reason.

Speaker 8 (35:04):
Why they were unaffected by this cyber attack.

Speaker 9 (35:07):
Is that they don't have the proper is because they
were running Windows three point one, which is from nineteen
ninety I knew it.

Speaker 2 (35:17):
They're not updated.

Speaker 15 (35:18):
That is so scary, Chris, Rob Parker, how much credit
to Southwest get for falling ass backwards into this solution?

Speaker 2 (35:28):
No, they get no credit.

Speaker 7 (35:30):
I mean it's embarrassing on how outdated Chris their computer
stuff is.

Speaker 2 (35:37):
You know, their software? I mean, are you serious? I mean, shot,
they could even run an airline on that nineteen ninety
two right, being that far behind, that's crazy.

Speaker 7 (35:49):
I mean, I love the two free bags, Chris, okay
when you travel on Southwest, but that don't make up
for the two free bags.

Speaker 2 (35:56):
Haven't outdated software the spirit even half computer? No, I
think they run on a typewriter. I think I think. No,
they get no credit. Rob is absolutely right. I mean
they they.

Speaker 1 (36:11):
Whoever's in charge, who's in charge of the airlines whatever,
they should make them update.

Speaker 2 (36:16):
I mean, I have to finding that out, right, don't
you think? Yeah, you're like, what are you doing? Dangerous?
It feels dangerous. I'm not an expert, but it feels.

Speaker 7 (36:24):
Dangerous, but it also tells you, Chris, I think they're cheap. Right,
they're cheap.

Speaker 2 (36:31):
There's no other reason you would do this other than
your Why wouldn't you update your as time goes on? Chris?

Speaker 7 (36:38):
You're not still using a flip floone flip phone? Right,
you've updated it?

Speaker 2 (36:42):
Actually, no, no, I'm updated, Chris, Can I jump in?
It's ridiculous?

Speaker 16 (36:46):
Yeah, okay, guys. So we live in a world now
where technology runs the world, right, AI chat GBT. Literally,
eventually you won't have to do anything. It'll all be
done for you everything. Trust me, it'll get there. Here's
my thing. Do you know what's the one thing that
still works if the whole grid goes down? Morris code?
It literally is above technology. Southwest is so smart they

(37:07):
predicted if everything shut down, they would be the only
plane system up in the air. Their genius is Honestly,
whoever's this crew or whoever runs this show, they deserve
all the credit.

Speaker 2 (37:17):
That's genius. And that's not why they did it cheap cheap.

Speaker 16 (37:23):
Yes, I would say that if it was Spirit Airlines.
This is Southwest. They make money.

Speaker 7 (37:27):
And here's the other thing too, with so with Southwest,
don't you remember during the holidays, they were the only
airlines closed down.

Speaker 2 (37:35):
You remember that whole they had a computer issue. Then
that's why they went backwards. And they're smart, and and
and Chris, everybody got stranded for days. You remember how
bad that was?

Speaker 8 (37:44):
See, Rob, I think you just made Alex at my
point right there.

Speaker 5 (37:47):
Thank you.

Speaker 15 (37:49):
Yes, Okay, So I have an iPhone. It's an iPhone thirteen.
I don't upgrade to the other one because what I
have works. I don't need to add a bunch of
extra features that I'm never gonna use when what I
have is currently working. Southwest say what you want about them,
but their system works and they don't, Rob, keep upgrading,
and they're doing to a situation we're not talking about

(38:13):
twenty twelve. You know what you wanted to fly from
Ala to Vegas today? You know what you have to
fly Southwesllow. I ain't getting you know, Delta miles or
anything like that. There was nothing wrong with the typewriter either,
but we did right. Boy, What did the typewriter ever do?

Speaker 2 (38:29):
There was never wrong with that great story, Rob. The
phone was fine. That's the clicking, Rob, That's what it was.
The typewriters still work. That killed BlackBerry.

Speaker 8 (38:38):
The click, that's right.

Speaker 15 (38:39):
The hearing Chris talk about technology like he had been
off the air like seven times this year, ridiculous.

Speaker 2 (38:46):
That's because he wants to be That's when he wants
to have dinner with his wife. I know that's a ploy.
Chris got an hour left keeper like a couple of Bucks.
