(00:26):
You're listening to Fox Sports Radio. It is the Odd
Couple of Fox Sports Radio. On a TV theme song Thursday,
Rob Parker along with Jonas Knox and for Chris Bussard
and yes, Jonas Knox our Odd Couple side piece and
(00:46):
we're coming couple side piece that's right from the Fox
Sports Radio studios. Jonas dot I can't even get over
how quickly this show has gone by. Uh. Coming up
in about thirty minutes, we're gonna talk with Martin Weiss
do a little trolling or rolling will do that. But
(01:08):
first we're gonna start Jonas talking about Tom Brady, who
was belly aching today again never happy, never satisfied, cheated
his way to seven Super Bowls and he's still not happy.
Oh did I say that? Sorry? I'm sorry. And and
here he has worked up about the NFL changing the
(01:30):
rules so that players can wear almost any number, and
he's like, good look black, and he's guy who's gonna
know whoso a number? Guy wearing number one can come
and sack me on a line black on when line
a linebacker? Blacker, Sorry about that a linebacker? Um, I
(01:59):
think it's it's a lot to do about nothing, typical goodell,
you at you, goodell at the draft and with the
oh god, now this sounds so select, Rob Parker line blacker.
Oh no, you don't want to do that one. But
you know what, I was watching the news when I
(02:21):
was in college, and you know Gail King, who is
one of the anchors on the CBS Morning News, right
Oprah's best friend and Gail King has been a newsperts
for a long time. I'm watching the local news w
fsbing Hartford, Connecticut, and she's signing off at the four
o'clock news of five o'clock news, and she looked into
the camera says, I'll be black tomorrow, and everybody on
(02:44):
the set just lost it. Well, it's like, what's the
uh the question that was asked to Doug Williams, how
long have you been a black quarterback? It's like, whew,
does that even get to that for you. I'm telling
you that that has to be one of the top
two or three questions asked at a press conference. Of course,
my question to Rob Marinelly I was probably a class act.
(03:06):
You want to you want to tell people what you
said around? Why not? Why not? I mean, why not?
Everybody knows what it is, they don't know the new audience.
I mean, why not why not to tell the new
audience here, Rob Parker, you know his son in law
was a defensive coordinator. Uh, the Saints scored on every
offensive possession on against his son in law's defense except
(03:30):
for the final play because they kneeled down in the
red zone. Right, It was like a runaway, and so
they lost bad. And you know, I'd ask some questions earlier,
and I said, hey, on a lighter note, trying to
see if I can get a fun quote out of him,
or trying to take a tense situation and make it fun.
As a columnist, you do that, maybe the guy gives
you a funny line. And I said, you know, on
(03:51):
a lighter note, do you wish your daughter would have
married a better defensive coordinator? Come on, that's one of
the all time great questions. And I can guarantee you
he did not think that was funny. No, he did not.
But I want you to know that there was another
reporter in the room who came over to me Jonah's
(04:13):
true story, slipped me a five dollar bill in the
handshake and said, I almost wept myself. You know what's
you know what's effed up about this? Here's here's the
part that's effed up about this. You'd probably get fired
today if you asked that question. I'm telling you, I
(04:33):
think he get in trouble. I swear to God. I
mean I got in trouble there. I mean at the paper,
they had a baby about it. I was working at ESPN.
They didn't suspend me or anything. They said, they listened
to the old press conference. They didn't think much of it,
like it was the big deal. The guys on Fox
ripped me. That was really the firestorm, because most of
the people in there, you know, didn't think it was
(04:55):
that big of a deal that it was broadcast live
on Detroit radio tell him and it wasn't a big stink.
But once they ripped me on Fox, you know what
I mean, it became a firestorm. But anyway, Sam Brady
doesn't have a real firestorm. He has nothing else to
worry about, and instead he should be worried about the
cheating that went on with the Patriots. Let's also keep
(05:17):
keeping with football, Jonas. And you know, we talked about
this yesterday. Kyle Shanahan. Everybody thinks he's, uh the Messiah
and he's the greatest thing since sliced bread, even though
he's caught down two super bowls. Okay, I mean he
for all the good that he's done, he can't close down,
close out super bowls. He should be two and old
(05:38):
super Bowls and he's not. But Rob Gee, there was
some new quotes, uh that we want to I want
to get your take Jonas after hearing some of these
quotes about Kyle Shanahan. Right. So, the reason we talked
about it yesterday was because there was an anonymous NFL
evaluator who told ESPN's Matt Miller that the best quarterback
(05:58):
from this class will be whoever ends up in Racisco.
And earlier, excuse me, late last night, Daniel Jeremiah was
trying to fill network was doing a media teleconference and
he was asked about the rumor that Mac Jones is
going to go through overall to the Niners. And here's
what he said. Quote you always hear it's about the
Jimmy's and the Joe's, not the exes and the O's.
(06:21):
That would be an exes and O's decision. It is quote,
I believe so much in the XS and os. I
need somebody that can just see the game through my
eyes and make those decisions. And quote. So it sounds
like he's saying, uh, Kyle Shanahan is just saying, Hey,
my system is what's gonna make this guy guess well,
(06:42):
he's been We've been hearing this about Kyle Shannahan for
a while now. There's been a real push for Shannon.
It's almost like we've gone from McVey to Shanahan to
where Shanahan's now the guy that everybody looks at and goes, oh, well,
he's you know, one of the great offensive mine and
great play callers and so on and so forth. And
it's he's it's not like he's not flawed. I mean
(07:04):
you mentioned the Super Bowl losses, rob and and look,
those aren't normal losses. He's the author of two of
the worst losses in Super Bowl. His shonas if we're
gonna spot on he shoked. If you remember that that
game against Atlanta, I mean when he was with Atlanta,
(07:25):
Julio Jones made a great catch. You remember the third
down play set up a first and ten at the
twenty two, you're in field goal range. Jonas right, I'm
not a football coach. You're not a football coach. All
you have to do is run the ball three straight times,
pick up five or six yards, kick a field goal.
You're up by eleven, you win the Super Bowl. He
(07:47):
has met Ryan throwing passes, there's a hold, there's a
sack for a big loss, and they're at a field
goal range. Tom Brady moves down, touchdown right, two point
conversion ties the game. I mean, he blew that game. Yeah,
and look this isn't to say that. Well, you know
his defense had nothing to do with it. No, the
(08:08):
Falcons defense completely melted down. That was an overall melt down.
But Kyle Shanahan was the offensive coordinator and he was
the guy making play calls. And then in the Super Bowl,
the forty nine Ers defense couldn't stop a third and
eighteen or whatever it was for Tyree Hill, and next
thing you know, they completely melted down also, But this
idea that no matter who ends up there, they're just
(08:31):
gonna be good no matter what. I just I don't
know where this started from. I don't know if this
is because Nick Mullins had a little bit of success
when Jimmy Garoppolo went down. I'm not quite sure. But
if you look at his record when Garoppolo is not
the starting quarterback, it's not like they're winning a bunch
of games. I mean, he's a very good coach. I've
talked to players that have played for him. A wide
(08:54):
receiver that played for him and said, man, there are
times where you get out there and you'll run a route,
You'll be in the end zone and you'll catch a
pass and there's nobody around you, and you go, how
did I get that wide open? So his play designs
have always been talked about as some of the best
in the NFL, But damn, man, those are a couple
of losses that you've been a part of that that
(09:15):
I don't know how we just sort of dismissed those
as not being something in the grand scheme of things
when it comes to how we evaluate Kyle Shannahan. I'm
with you, there's no way I can call this guy
a genius and then people defend him and go, well,
you know, the falcon has been throwing the ball all year. Yeah, yeah,
I get it. But there comes a time when you
need to run the football. If you remember, they had
(09:38):
over one hundred yards rushing in that game. They ran
the Patriots out of the building in the first half
of that Super Bowl, and they had a twenty eight
to three lead. They only rushed the ball four times
in the second half. When you have a big lead
in the NFL, in football, you have to run the football.
I mean that's elementary. And look, let's let's be honest
(10:01):
about it. Ego does play a part in this because
an offensive coordinator who wants to get noticed, the offensive
coordinators to get knows you ever notice, it's never the
guy who's got the best rushing attack. It's always the
guy who who's got the who's got the the top
rated offense, and they're throwing passes down the field because
that gets looked at more so than a guy who's
(10:21):
really good at putting together run schemes, because that's about
blocking and and and how you how you handle it
on the on the offensive line. I've heard and this
is from somebody who who is in the know that
I completely trust who told me this, and this is
somebody now and I actually wasn't Brady question. I've been
like three sources that a kid, there was a there
(10:44):
was a coach and often and I'm not going to
say who it was, but there was an offensive coordinator
recently in the NFL who got fired And part of
the reason he got fired is because the organization knew
that the plays he was calling was just so he
could get hired as a head coach the next year.
That he literally was calling plays that we're going to
(11:06):
be these wow plays that we're going to jump out
to you on the same just so that would look
good in an interview. And the team was like, hold
on a second, if that's hurting us winning games now,
we can't have that. And he actually lost his job
because of that. That's a true story. I think that
applies to offensive minded head coaches in the NFL to
where they get into these situations and it's like I
(11:28):
could run the ball, yeah, I could grind the clockdown,
but man, we've been having so much success throwing the
ball around, and you know, let's let's take this approach,
and he didn't take that approach. And I also think
that he knew that those whispers were out there, because
you remember when Jimmy Garoppolo got all sorts of criticism
because they beat the Green Bay or they beat the
(11:50):
Minnesota Vikings in the NFC playoffs a couple of years ago,
and Jimmy Garoppolo hardly threw the ball. They ran the
ball almost the inside the Packers. Yeah, Packers are the Vikings,
one of those two packs. I think it was Kyle
Shanahan making a statement, Woh, you don't think I run
the ball? Huh watch this and he goes out there
(12:10):
and just overwhelmingly ran the ball. Crazy. Yeah, and Garppolo
barely threw the ball like a handful of times he
threw then in the Super Bowl when you needed you're
up by ten with eight minutes to go. Agreed, they
don't want they don't run the football. I mean, I'm weird, man,
It's bizarre, and it looked Dave Roberts. I mean, everyone
(12:32):
could say what they want about man, Dave Roberts. They
get over the hump and the Dodgers a World Series champions.
First of all, we're just gonna pretend like they weren't
down three one in that series with Atlanta. We're just
gonna be Yeah, that was gonna be another year man.
And and Dave Roberts has been buried. We were in
LA He's been buried by Dodger fans for years. So
(12:54):
let's not pretend like all of a sudden Dave Roberts
has figured it out and we know exactly what's going
on with Dave Roberts, and he's the guy to trust.
Remember Ron Washington. Ron Washington had really really good teams
with the Texas Rangers. You know what Ron Washington's known
for now other than you know, that alleged powdery substance
he might have had on his mustache from time that
(13:15):
was a that was a powdered donut on the little
six pack, a little six pack from seven to eleven.
I hear you listen. I happens to the best of us.
But this Ron Washington. People are going to look back
at his time with the Rangers and they're gonna go, oh,
you mean the guy that was one strike away twice
in Game six or whatever it was against the Cardinals
(13:35):
and blew it like that's a lot of that's gonna
go on the manager. Just even though Nelson Clues pulled up,
remember that for that ball. I mean, to this day,
Nelson Clues is a good ball player. But you can't
pull up on a plate that you can make right,
even if you crash into the wall. We're two outs
in the ninth inning to win the World Series. You
(13:56):
can't pull up from a ball. I can't rob. I
think that is and it never gets talked about. I
think that is the worst championship loss in the history
of sports. I don't. I'm sorry. I cannot pull on.
If I were, if I were a Rangers fan, i'd
be I'd still be sick to my stomach over that game.
(14:17):
But you could he if he crashed into the wall right,
or the ball hit off his glove, or he caught
it and then crashed into the wall and it popped out.
I can live with that. Couldn't you live with it?
I can live with that, But I can't. I can't
live with a with a player pulling up two walton
a ninth thenn in to win a World Series. I can't. Yeah,
(14:37):
And and so look, Ron Washington's gonna be labeled as
the guy who was the you know who was the
manager of those teams that couldn't figure it out, just
like Dave Roberts would have been, just like insert any
other coach who gets to a certain Dan Reeves was
a great coach, a great coach in the NFL. When
we think about Dan Reeves, what do you think about
all those Super Bowl loss and and and and Look,
(14:59):
it's not he was blowing big leads in those games. See.
I think the criticism of Kyle Shanahan's fair, and I
don't think it gets brought up enough, No doubt about it.
It is amazing, all right. It is the Odd Couple
of Fox Sports Radio, Rob Parker and Jonas Knox filling
in for Chris Broussard And are we overrating Kyle Shanahan's
coaching genius? We want to hear from you. Jump in
(15:22):
eight seven, seven ninety nine on Fox eight seven, seven,
nine nine, six sixty three sixty nine. We'll continue the
conversation with you next. It is the Odd Couple with

Chris Brussard on Fox Sports Radio. Stick and stay side piece,
(15:44):
the official Odd Couple side piece. Be sure to catch

Rob Parker weekdays at seven pm Eastern four pm Pacific
on Fox Sports Radio and the iHeart Radio app. It
is The I Couple on a TV theme song Thursday,
Rob Parker, Jonas Knox in for Chris Boussar, I'll telephone
(16:06):
number eight seven seven ninety nine on Fox. We're coming
to you live from the Geico. Fox Sports Radio Stu,
I'm sorry, coming to you from live from the Futradio.
Sorry about that about shame. I s shame. Sorry about
that first time I did that. Since things have changed
(16:27):
around here. But it's all good. Um, where are your shame? Shame? Shame,
shame on n Kyle Shanahan, who is the man genius.
Everybody says how great he is. Jonas, I'm just not
so sure. I'm wondering where people are on him. I'm
(16:48):
sure people want to jump in. Yeah. And Keith is
in New Orleans listening here on Fox Sports Radio. Keith,
what's happening, Jona, y'all doing? First of all, I'll take
a fit to talk about a fellow New Orleans and
Ron Washington. Y'all need put some respect on that man's name. Listen,
look he felt he you know, he fell on a chalkboard.
(17:10):
I mean, you know, things happening. I don't know what
to tell you. It was just a powder donut stopping.
But listen, I'm not sure who annoying him, his dad
or annoying him, uh you know, uh with Bill Walsh
(17:33):
or whatever. But the guys was overrated coaching the sport.
He's mentioned a playoff one time. He doesn't have a
winning record out Jimmy g and we've w the me
has really elevated his profile. I'm not sure why. All
I know is he's a choke artist, and you know
he gets me. He gets me. What's going to come
to him? Man? So I'm done with it. I hear you.
(17:55):
And and those two super Bowls were major. I mean
when you look at it, I don't think anybody's ever
given up super bowls like that. And there's no way
that didn't brutal, man, it is brutal. I mean seriously,
that one in Atlanta, you remember, I mean, I think
uh we brought it up. I think at the point
they had a ninety five percent chance of one, there
(18:18):
was That's what it was. I I remember it. I
remember where I was because they went to halftime and
I thought, oh my god, this is just I mean.
And and Brady Quinn and I were doing the postgame
show afterwards, and all of a sudden, the game goes
the way that it goes. It goes into overtime. And
once it went into overtime, you do it was yeah,
(18:40):
like you just knew they weren't getting the ball back.
We went on the air and the first thing I
said was, what the hell do we just watch? Like?
That's like because you can talk all you want about
oh Man, Brady and he gets another super Bowl because
I think that was five at the time, and it
put him put him ahead of Montana, and that was
I was like, listen, man, equal to, if not greater,
is the absolute gag job that the Falcons put on display,
(19:04):
Like we've never seen anything like that before. And Kyle
Shanahan was a big part of it. Adam is listening
in Nashville. Here, you're on the odd couple here Fox
Sports Radio. What's up, adham Man. I'm loving it tonight. Yeah.
So here's here's my problem. I don't think y'all are
being unfair to Kyle Shanahan. But I think you're being
hard on him because I'm a dollar Titans fan. I
(19:25):
lived a long time with Marcus Mariota is like the
franchise quarterback for us. Jimmy G seems a lot like
that to me. To me, they're almost the exact same guy,
minus a little bit of athletic ability. And Kyle Shanahan
went a long way with that guy's requarter. But wait
a minute, but your point, your point though, if that's
what you're saying, like you're saying, Jimmy G isn't that guy,
(19:46):
then why are they throwing the ball in the fourth
quarter instead of running the football with the ten point leading,
eight minutes to go they had I think they only
ran two running plays or three running plays, think eleven
of them that they were, like eleven of the fourteen
plays were throwing plays. And you're just saying, he ain't
(20:08):
that guy. So if you're the coach and you know
that you need to make plays that that will help him,
not put him in harm's way, and that's what happened. Yeah,
I can, I can. I can kind of sue what
you're saying there. Man, I mean it's tough. You put
me in a bad spot with that question, right that
everybody game. But I don't know, man, but no, but no,
(20:29):
but but Adam, And here's the point, and we appreciate
the call it here. Oh and this is this is
my big problem. And I think you feel the same way.
We don't want to wait till the conclusion of stuff.
We just want to annoy people and we just want
to make him the next big thing. Right, we do
it all the time. I get all that we're reacting
in the moment and at sports radio, but at a
(20:51):
certain point you've got enough body of work where everything
should be called into question. Like I said this earlier.
We were on straight out of Vegas, and I said, look,
Patrick Mahomes is fantastic stick, but if we're gonna be
honest about Patrick Mahomes, let's be honest all the way.
He's played eight quarters in a Super Bowl and he's
been out played in seven of them. I mean, that's
fent like and you got no points in this past one.
(21:13):
I mean, think about that when everybody said that's just fact.
It's kind of like when Jonas first came to Fox
Sports Radio and people would call him the air apparent
to Dan Patrick and that was nine years ago. I mean,
and then they called me the airpairent to dani Ka
Patrick and she has more bustles than you do. He'd
(21:37):
beat my assent absolutely. All your class act all right,
we got the trolling the roller with Martin Wise. That's
always fun coming up next. But first, Fox Sports Radio
has the best sports talk lineup in the nation. Catch
all of our shows at Fox Sports Radio dot com
and within the iHeart Radio app search f SR to
(21:58):
listen live. Hey, I'm Doug Gottlieb. The podcast is called
All Ball. We usually talk all basketball all the time,
but it's more about the stories about what made these
people love their sport and all the interesting interactions along
the way. We talked to coaches, we talked to players,
We tell you stories. You download it, you listen to it.
(22:21):
I think you like it. Listen to All Ball with
Doug Gottlieb on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or ever
you get your podcast. It's sorry for trolling, a rolling
with Martin Weiss, Tom Brady, He's done, Aaron Rodgers did
not have a Pro Bowl season. China gets me ride.
(22:44):
It's trolling or rolland that's right. It's trolling a rolling
I'm Martin Hawaiis and I'll break it down for you're
real quick. If Roger Jone is like the story, you're
in the roll sound they see me rolling? And if
somebody does something like leave a Tomahawk steak in the freezer,
free troll sound? Oh many? I mean, come on, that's
(23:10):
the most I've heard a lot of things in the
time that I've done leading into this segment of trolling rolling,
especially especially when I'm following the Sager update. Okay here
most agregient by far. That's bad in any event, Jane
Is knocks all right. Floyd Mayweather has unretired yet again.
(23:33):
Professional bout was twenty seventeen vers Conna McGregor, but it
sounds like he's stepping back into the ring, this time
with YouTube star logan Paul. There's all that's a big
weight difference trolling and rolling. The YouTube star logan Paul
(23:55):
has a shot in this fight. I'm trolling. Oh man, Hey, listen,
people cannot like Floyd Mayweather for some of the stuff
outside the ring. All of that is fair, all right.
He you know, he's been he's been punished and he's
been uh you know, he's done some bad things. They
can also question his uh, you know, him wanting to
(24:16):
fight top notch fighters like Canelo Avarez and Manny Pacquia
while they were in their prime. You could say whatever
you want about him, but here's what you can't say.
He's not one of the all time great boxers in
the history of the sport. Because he is and especially defensively,
he makes people look stupid. So the idea that a
YouTube star is going to step in with Floyd Mayweather,
(24:39):
even at a Floyd Mayweather at this stage of his life,
and is going to have any sort of success against him,
I'm not buying it for a second. I'm trolling. I'm
trolling it as well. Man. Hey, hey, hey, hey, hey,
I'm with you, Jonas. I mean, a lot of people
don't like Floyd, but I can't believe that he would
(25:03):
wind up uh not being ready for that, and and
and and losing in a situation like now. And I
don't buy it troller rolling. A couple of Fox Sports
Radio Drew Locks ain't been great in this time in Denver,
but that didn't stop Broncos GM George Patton from showing
some confidence in his sort of he said quote. I
(25:26):
think he's becoming a better crow, better pro talking about lock.
But we're still going to look at the quarterback position.
We want to bring in competition. That's the goal. Rob
Troller rolland the Broncos need to move up and get
one of these first round quarterbacks in this year's draft.
I'm rolling with it. You know, John Elways had a
(25:49):
terrible time picking and that's why he's changed positions and
in the front office. I mean for a quarterback, he's
swung and miss a lot. Uh, you know, as far
as draft and trying to get quarterbacks. So but I
think I would This draft is loaded with quarterbacks, do
whatever you can to try to get one of them,
(26:11):
and I think I would try to move up. Yeah,
I'm rolling with it as well too. And especially if
you believe that sitting there at number four, if we
believe that in the odds are out there, and if
we believe the odds are true and they're accurate, and
the forty nine ers are going to take mac Jones
because he fits their system better. If you're the Denver
Bronco and you think you can move up and get
(26:33):
a guy like a Justin Fields or a Tray Lands,
I think you got to make the move. You got,
you gotta. If these are two guys that have been
projected to be top two three picks overall, they've all
of a sudden found themselves behind Trevor Lawrence obviously, Zach
Wilson because of hype before the draft, and Mac Jones
because of a system fit. So those are guys that
(26:55):
are probably gonna fall lower than what anybody expected over
the past year or so. And if you've got an
opportunity to grab one of those guys, I think you
do it. And uh, a little bit of an issue there.
Technically we can we can finish this off because he
did send me the questions. I think we're on a
question number three, trolling a rollin? Are a couple of
Fox Sports Radio Jonas knocking for Chris Bruth started speaking
(27:18):
of the draft. Bleacher Report came out with the list
of teams that most needed to hit this year's draft
out of the park. Number one team on that list
wasn't the team with the number one overall pick, though
it was the Jets. Rob Parker's Jets, owners of the
second pick of the draft. Rob, are you trolling a
rolling that the Jets are the team that most needs
(27:40):
to hit on their draft picks this year. I'm rolling
with it. I think it's truly. They have a number
of picks. They need to get some good players in there.
And when you give up a quarterback right who you
just drafted a couple of years ago, thinking he was
your franchise quarterback and you take another guy, you can't
kid he can't be it done, Like he's gotta be
(28:02):
that guy. Although and if Donald goes down to Carolina
and plays well, I mean, all hell gonna hit the fans.
So I think that they have to No, I'm trolling.
I'm trolling many because hey, hey, what you're saying, you're
implying that if they don't get it together in this draft,
there's gonna be some changes. If they don't get it
(28:23):
together in this draft, there could be some stuff change
in there. With the Jets, Robert Sala just got there.
He just got hired. They're really high on him. Joe
Douglas feels like he has a pretty good level of
job security there because he just walked away from Adam
Gase and now he brought in Robert Sala. I think
there are other teams that need to figure out this draft.
(28:45):
A couple that jump off the top of my head.
The Chicago Bears would be one. They've got a lot
of question marks, people that look at them and go, hey,
what the hell's the plan here? What are you guys doing?
And then maybe there's some other teams like a Green
Bay Packers who people weren't happy with what they did.
Do a surround Aaron Rodgers with some talent, with some
with with some guys around him. The Cincinnati Bengals need
(29:07):
to protect Joe Burrow. That's it. That's a team that
you've got to look at. So I'm trolling the fact
that it's the Jets who need to hit home runs
in this draft more so than anybody else. All right,
that's right. I mean, if these technical difficulties aren't going
to get sorted out, I'm going back to weekend overnights.
I'll tell you this, so you know what. That's what
you should stuff doesn't fly, all right more? I couple
(29:32):
of gum keep it locked right here on Fox Sports Radio.
Be sure to catch live editions of The Odd Couple
with Chris Brussar and Rob Parker weekdays at seven pm
Eastern four pm Pacific on Fox Sports Radio and the
iHeartRadio app where everybody knows your name. Come on, Jonas,
(29:53):
you know you like it sucks. This is one of
the song is dog Crap? You know it's crazy. This
is a full This is a full song. It's not
just a theme, you know what I mean. Like, there's
a full version. Have you been to the bar where
they did cheers in Boston? They wouldn't let me in? No,
(30:13):
you know, but yeah I was there. Where do you
get that? I'm just saying, you know, are you gonna
delete that comment later? Yeah, I'm gonna take that off
of though. But when it comes to Boston, no, I'm
not trust me. I've been mistreated in that town anyway.
It is a couple of Fox Sports Radio on a
TV theme song Thursday. What a great, nice selection. Thank
(30:34):
you Alex for that. Coming to you live from the
Fox Sports Radio studios and Jonas. We finish up tonight
Fast Show. But we finish up with the New York
Knickerbockers somehow, some way. Uh they've won eight in a row.
One of the hottest teams in the NBAA the longest
(30:54):
wind streaks since I think it's twenty fourteen. It's been
been a minute ninety four I believe, No, it's not
that long. But twenty fourteen, and uh, are they legit?
They had a fourth seed now in the Eastern Conference?
Are they legit? It's a great story. Um, I listen.
(31:15):
If you grew up watching Look, I grew up watching
nineteen nineties basketball. It's why I like Zion so much.
And watching Zion play because he hardly takes any threes.
It's literally get in the paint and score like Tray
will just keep scoring, right because they can't stop you.
And and so I grew up on nineties basketball. And
(31:35):
when you think about nineties basketball, a lot of people
point to the Bulls and and for a good reason.
But damn, the Knicks had some good teams, rob like,
they had some damn good teams. They really did. If
you remember they were up to when Jordan you remember
that was the Charles Smith game the Knicks. I thought
they were going to beat the Bulls. That was with
uh right? That was and it was? It was? That
(31:58):
was Jojo did Jojo English fight a Derek Ron Harper
or one of the two, like they remember there was
that game where they had a brawl on the court.
But nonetheless. So I say all that to say this
playoff basketball at the Garden is awesome, Like there's just
it's just you don't even have to be there. You
just have to see it on television. And even if
there's not going to be a capacity crowd and we
(32:19):
know the fans and all that stuff, there's just something
about the presentation that I really like. Do I think
they're gonna be a legitimate contender in the Eastern Conference. No,
but I think it's fantastic for the NBA to have
them back and have them be relevant. And also it's
kind of a nice story when you consider Kevin Durant
and Kyrie Irving could have gone there, but they chose Brooklyn.
(32:39):
You know, the Nicks weren't good enough for them, so
to see them, you know, draft some guys make a
couple of acquisitions, and all of a sudden, here they
are in the mix for one of the like the
four five seed in the Eastern Conference. I think it's
a great story. Yeah, I'm with you. It is a
great story. I'm with you, though I don't believe like
no are gonna make some miracle run or whatever I mean,
(33:03):
unless the Nets are unhealthy and two of those guys
are missing because I picked the nets when before the
Harden trade, I like, I like the team that they
had with Kywe and Uh and Durant, but obviously they
had to make trades in order to get um to
get hardened. But I like that that's too much firepower.
We haven't seen that collection of firepower. Who do you
(33:25):
leave open? I mean, who do you double team? Do
you know what I mean? Like it just Is and
Jonas those other guys they got. They got other guys too,
who are pretty good. If you leave those guys open. Yeah, Well,
and here's the other thing. And you know how this
works at being from New York. I mean when you
look at to see what the Yankees are this year
so far and how bad they are. I mean, if
(33:47):
you're a New York fan, a through and through New
York fan, and it's not football season and you're looking around,
going what do I got to cheer for? And you
see the Yankees now bad they've been to start off
the season, even though they got to win tonight and
they scored six runs, and it's like the first which
is the big time, right, they broke broke out? Right? Yeah?
So it was a big time performance. The fact that
(34:08):
you got the Knicks at least holding their end of
the bargain. Man, that's a It's a great sports town.
They love their teams, They're passionate about their teams. At
least you get the Knicks playing at a high level
at this point in the season, which is really all
you can ask for. Totally agree. I've been getting Texas
from my friends who are basketball fans. Finally. Uh, you know,
(34:28):
it's been a long time and people keep going to
Madison squig Garden and you just talked about it. The
thing that makes Madison Squidgarden different is the way that
they liked the court. You know, the house seats are
all dark like a theater and the only thing that's
lit is the court, and it does have a different
(34:50):
feel to it. And you can even see that on television.
Am I right? Well, yeah, I was in So I
had a buddy that used to live in Manhattan, and
so went went there and we were cruising around and
he was kind of shown me the city. And when
you just you if it's nice out, you can walk
to where you want to go. I mean, it's it's
a big city, but you can get and kind of
look at different things. And remember we rounded the corner
and you said, and there's Madison Square Garden and it
(35:12):
just sort of pops up on you. It's just it's
it's just kind of there in the middle of a
busy city, so it doesn't look that huge on the outside,
and then you think about all the historic events that
had taken place there. It's awesome. It's like Wrigley Field.
You ever got to Wrigley Field in Chicago. You you're
in Wrigleyville. If you're not taking the train, you're in
an uber or whatever, and you hang it right next
thing you know, there's just a stadium in the middle
(35:33):
of the neighborhood. It's and it's awesome. That's one of
my favorite places field, no doubt, every chance I get
and just about every summer. Love love it. The food
inside Wrigley Field is absolutely atrocious. I mean, it's awful,
but it's a great place to go watch a game,
no doubt about it, all right, jonas Man, As always,
(35:55):
it's a pleasure having some fun with you for a
few hours, filling them for christpers hard love it and
the odd couple will be back, guess uh. Fred Rogan
is filling in tomorrow k NBC Fred Rogan will be
filling in or stand for that sort of negativity rock
It is the odd couple.
