(00:25):
You're listening to Fox Sports Radio. Yes, sir, Welcome into
the final hour on a funky Flashback Friday. It is
The Odd Couple. Were Rob Parker and Martin White sitting
in for Chris Bussard, and we're coming to you live
from the Fox Sports Radio studio. Live and Martin, we're
(00:47):
gonna get to the boycott of the Olympics, which is
where I'm at. But first, if you're a Laker fan
in Los Angeles or wherever you may be listening, you
can't be that feeling that good about where the team is.
Anthony Davis was injured last night in that blowout win
by the Clippers and looked like his ankle. They said
(01:07):
it was back spasms, whatever it may be. Lebron still out,
might not be back until the playoffs start, who knows.
We're not sure they're they got other you know, issues
going on, and now it looks like they're destined to
wind up being in the playing game. Can you imagine
thinking that the Lakers somehow, some way, with the record
(01:28):
that they were off to, which was great in the
early going, before the injuries started to pile up, that
they would slip all the way out of the top
six spots and could wind up being there, Martin, And
I know you in Lebron, you trust, that's your motto.
Just can't be feeling that confident about where the Lakers are.
(01:51):
Like you said, in Lebron, I trust, and again you'll
be right a lot. But I need to see Lebron
at this point. It's getting I need to see Lebron
on the court running around and doing Lebron like things,
because that's that's that's what I'm trusting in right Like
I haven't seen him be active. So that's that's my
major concern with the Lakers is if these guys can't
get healthy. I mean, this team is, this team is
(02:13):
exactly where they should be if they don't have a
Lebron and Anthony Davis right fighting for a Western Conference
playoff spot. I could play in spot whatever whatever you
want to whatever you want to call it like there,
but with these two guys healthy, this is one of
the top two teams in the conference, and I don't
think that's even close. So that's you're right. I am
all all all systems go for Lebron. However, I just
(02:35):
need him to start going. Problem too is here's the
other one. Even with Lebron and I hear you, Anthony
Davis wasn't playing good basketball before he got hurt. I
don't know what happened. I thought, really, Chris and I
talked about this many times Martin that I thought this
was his chance, Anthony Davis to take off and he
(02:57):
was gonna come back with the champion ship in his
back pocket. Now he could go for MVPs. You know,
like the pressure is off, Like you don't have to
worry about Oh, I played and I never won a championship.
You have that. All you have to do is go
out play hard. Came back kind of out of shape,
wasn't really playing well, and I thought he would take
the pressure off Lebron, to let Lebron cruise so that
(03:20):
Lebron could be ready for the postseason and didn't have
to play that hard. We all talked about him when
Lebron was playing those extended minutes. This is year eighteen,
He's thirty six years old. I know, he looks like
a brick blank house and you just look at him
and think that this is never ending. Lebron James is not,
you know, bottomless shrimp. You're gonna run out eventually. Like that,
(03:46):
that was pretty good. I wasn't expecting it. He eventually
he will lose the fight with all the time, but
I'm gonna need to see him at least stumble first,
like because like you said, three years ago, he got hurt.
Next year all he does is come back and win
the title. Like that's I just you know, I need
to see it happen. Yeah, I think they were in
dire straits only from this standpoint, Martin. Too many things
(04:07):
have to go right. That's if you had would like
if he was heard and a D was playing great,
you know what I mean? You would be like, oh,
if Lebron just can get back in there and be himself,
were close to himself, you know you would have a chance.
But a D hasn't been good and a D can't
stay healthy. This was his MO before he got to
LA and last year somehow, some way with the four
(04:30):
month layoff, he was there and they only played, you know,
a limited number of games in the bubble. He was
able to come back and be healthy and play big
for them. But I just think there's too many things
that don't feel right for me. When when you talk
about the Lakers and the West is loaded. Two teams
(04:50):
that are at the top that nobody thought would be
there in Phoenix and Utah, and Phoenix was going to
be a top four seed. Did you really yep? I
didn't think so. I thought Denver would be there. I
thought it would be the Denver Clippers, Utah and Lake.
When I made the infamous bet with Chris Bussard. If
you had asked me who you knew that was a
(05:11):
bad bet. Though, then if you would ask no, if
you had asked me what this what it would have been?
I would have had the Clippers winning in the West,
the Lakers second, I'm sorry, Phoenix second, with the Lakers
third and then Denver fourth. That would that would have
been That would have been the That's what I envisioned
when I made that bet with Chris. Yeah, well it's
a bad bet. It's all right. We all lose it
(05:33):
every once in a while. I lost two to him,
so I know it's painful, but you'll get it done,
all right, Martin? I wrote a column today for dead Spin.
Did you get a chance to read it? I did
read it. I didn't agree with all of it, but
whyn't you go ahead and lay it out? So basically,
I said, I'm out on the twenty twenty one Tokyo Olympics.
Count me out. I'm not watching. I don't care. I
(05:54):
get it, I'll mis some great performances by athletes who
we know have all put in. There are heart and
soul into training. It's a once in a lifetime you know,
world stage and whatnot. But but the game's just rubbed
me the wrong way. It's supposed to be a rally
cry for natures to make people feel good about their
countries and where they're from. It sounds like on paper,
(06:18):
this is as good as it gets. But and you
could wrap your arms around it, you can feel good
about it every four years. And then Thursday happened when
the you know, International Olympics Committee, the IOC announced very
loudly and clearly that they won't allow at the summer
Games in Tokyo. They went and they named black lives specifically,
(06:42):
they said black Lives Matter slogan will be banned from
athlete apparel at the Olympics. Nope, can't do it. They
don't want to hear it. They don't care what went
on this past last summer in twenty twenty, when people
took to the streets and even that the NFL old
white ownership bowed in and bowed down to it and
(07:04):
decided that they couldn't fight this any longer, that they
had to go along with it. And all the leagues
are chimed in, but the IOC is not having it.
It's a ridiculous, longstanding band about demonstrations, political, religious, or
racial propaganda on the field, the metal stand or during
(07:27):
Olympic Games ceremonies. So in other words, you know what
the IOC saying to the athletes, shut up and play.
That's all they care about. They want their money. They
don't care about police brutality, they don't care about social
and racial injustices going on. They don't care. And this
(07:48):
is why I can't get with the Olympics, because for
you know, six weeks or whatever it is, we're supposed
to feel good about it. They're supposed to act as
if all the world ills don't matter, and then let's
go back to business as usual, which is about oppression
and exclusion. Here's my other problem I have. In nineteen
(08:08):
thirty six, to give you some history and some contexts,
they were okay with Adolf Hitler showing up to the
Games christ in Berlin. They were okay with that because,
of course, you know it. I guess it wasn't political,
but he was there. And yet Jewish athletes from the
(08:30):
United States weren't allowed to participate. They stayed home. A
famous sportscaster, Marty Glickman, was a track star who was
Jewish and could not perform in the Olympics because you
couldn't go into Nazi Germany with Jewish athletes. But for
some reason, the IOC and the Olympics didn't have a
(08:50):
problem with that. And don't forget in nineteen sixty eight,
of course, the famous protests with Tommy Smith and John
Carlos when they raised their black gloves in Mexico City.
Of course they were sent home ostracized for them protesting
the riots and what was going on with racial unrest
(09:12):
in the United States. So I'm out on the Olympics,
especially when they go out of their way to specifically
say that black lives don't matter to them and they
don't care. I'm not gonna watch it, Martin, not one minute.
I mean, I think that's admirable. I don't think that
you not watching the Olympics is going to have like
a super big effect outside of you being able to
(09:32):
sleep good at night, you know, you know, but I
don't think it's gonna have a super big effect on
the bottom line. But when I read the column today,
my number one thing about it was, first of all,
the Tokyo Olympics feels like it shouldn't happen, seeing as
it's a state of emergency in Tokyo right now. And
you know, it's just that, But that's a whole other issue,
entirely talking about the athletes and the protests and not
(09:54):
necessarily about the pandemic on going. But when you talk
about the athletes and the protesting and not and not
having the ability to do so, for me, I don't
necessarily make a practice of calling on people to protest,
especially professional athletes, because I think it's almost an impossible
position to be put in. I think a lot of
time I'm thirty one years old. I remember ten years
(10:14):
ago when I was twenty one, twenty two, twenty three,
twenty four, when these guys are most of these guys
are in this I didn't have a high level of
decision making skill like I was, okay, but like not
on the grand stage like some of these guys have
the ability to do. So I commend them and tip
my cap to them for that and I but also
at the same time, don't expect a Jalen Brown or
a Jason Tatum or anybody really even Lebron at this
(10:37):
point to go and say something like I don't think
that's their job, however, And it ain't about their job,
it's about no I'm just saying. I'm saying, if you
want to go and do that, that's fine. I support
your I've supported and I think it's absolutely right. I'm
not one of those wrong place, wrong time, or whatever.
I just am not gonna pound the table and say
I need this out of somebody, like, for example, James
(10:57):
Harden is not necessarily the most outspoken person whenever these
situations occur. I'm not pounding the table saying I need
James Harden's opinion that's that's my overarching point. My thing is, though,
when it comes to the Olympics, I think that this
is one of the moments in which, if you were
an NBA player and you were really walking, you're really talking,
that talk come to bubble. This is a perfect opportunity
(11:20):
for you to completely sit this one out. If you're
an NBA player or an American athlete in general, who
this you know, who the black lives matter to you.
I think it's a perfect situation to sit it out,
especially if you're an NBA player, especially when you had
this truncated offseason last summer. Okay, so you didn't really
have an off season. Now we have this season. Everybody
in the world, every every single off star of note
(11:43):
besides Nicole Yokis, has been hurt of any at some
point in time throughout this year. You're only making forty
thousand dollars if you win the gold medal, which is chump.
I mean, Kyrie just got fined thirty five thousand for
not talking to the media. That's obviously not that significant
of an amount of money. However, when you think about
the people who are watching the Olympics, especially in the
United States, they're watching swimming, they're watching gymnastics, and they're
(12:05):
watching basketball. If some own Bibles isn't there, and Lebron
James isn't there, and I was Michael Phelps, but the
top American swimmers they're not there. Americans are not going
to be nearly as interested, and that's going to have
an actual impact on what happens in the Olympics in
the bottom line towards the ratings and all of that.
I think that is a boycott that you can actually
say something and and let's be fair, what are you
(12:27):
really boycotting when you're talking about black lives matter? Right,
We're talking about police brutality on black and brown bodies, right,
and that's an American problem, right, It's not happening in
the rest of these It's so it's a perfect opportunity.
Hold no, no no, no, it's a perfect opportunity for these
athletes to protest against the country that allows it to occur. No.
(12:49):
But but the point is it's a it's an international stage.
And that's why John carloson Tommy Smith did it at
at Mexico City. It was to bring light as what
was going on back in the United States and the
same thing. We saw other countries band together and have
their own protests all over the world during the Black
(13:09):
Lives Matter that it got enough attention. There were statues
going down all over the world, not just in the
United States. And the point is the IOC is ancient
and outdated that that they that they have to go
out of their way. No, they welcome the Hitler and
the nineteen thirty six Olympics, but they got an issue
(13:30):
with a guy wearing a damn that says or something
that's wrapped on that says the Black Lives Matter. If
somebody wants to wear a T shirt or something on
their uniform, how does that affect the IOC. I don't
understand it. It doesn't. So you know what the response
is because honestly, there's a there's way, there's a ton
of countries who can participate in the Olympic. Is that
(13:52):
way bigger problems that are happening in this country. And
I'm not trying to belittle the ones that are happening
in this country, but that's just a fundamental fact. But
the way that you actually impact the IOC, the ancient IOC.
We've seen it happen all across America, you hit them
in the pockets. Americans don't. If they don't go, that's
gonna be the biggest protest that could possibly occur. Then
going on the national stage, you know what will be.
(14:13):
We're gonna remove the spotlight from the international stage because
the Americans who are driving the coverage are not going
to be there. That's the way you protest something like this.
You don't, but I'm talking about I get all that,
and players will have to make their own decisions. But
I'm out on the Olympics. I don't care if if
me not watching doesn't matter. I'm not going to support
(14:36):
anything dealing with the Olympics. That's what can I do, Martin.
I can't force the NBA players not to go, or
tell you if you bought tickets to go to Tokyo,
even though I don't think they're gonna have fans or
whatever it is, tell you know what to do. I'm
telling you I'm out. And here are the reasons why
I want to hear from people on this eight seven,
(14:59):
seven ninety nine on Fox. And in this case, I
just wonder, will you be boycott in the Olympics this summer?
Will you be watching? Will you be at the edge
of your seat when you hear what the IOC has
already proclaimed and singled out Black Lives Matter. We've never
even seen that. Never before did they single out a
(15:21):
particular group that they did it here. So we'll continue
that conversation with you next eight seven, seven ninety nine.
On Fox It's The I Couple. Martin whites in for
Chris Boussard, Rob Parker Here you there, It's Fox Sports Radio.
Be sure to catch live editions of The Odd Couple
with Chris Broussard and Rob Parker weekdays at seven pm Eastern,
(15:42):
four pm Pacific on Fox Sports Radio and the iHeartRadio app.
Oh James Brown, the Godfather of Soul. Love this Alex.
It is The Odd Couple, Fox Sports Radio. On a
funky Flashback Friday, Rob Parker and Martin Wish for Chris Broussard,
and we're coming to you live from the Fox Sports
(16:04):
Radio studios. We're talking about the Olympics. I wrote a
column for Deadspin dot Com. I will not partake, even
if I missed some great moments this year, I'm just
not doing it. I'm boycotting the watching the Olympics and
men out on my Instagram. I just saw the perfect
slogan here and I'm gonna give him credit. Chocolate Milk Cart.
(16:28):
That's the name of his Instagram, Chocolate Milk Cart, and
his hashtag was say no to Tokyo. Say no to Tokyo.
You hear me say no to Tokyo. I'm not watching.
I'm thoughts racist about it because I said, Tokyo My
God eight seven, seven ninety nine. On Fox, we want
(16:52):
to hear from you. Join us Jeff in Nashville, Fox
Sports Radio, the couple You're on? What you got, buddy? Hey,
I totally understand Rob's point of view on this. However,
just like his co host said, so well tonight, every
country has issues. Every country has problems. You know, where
(17:14):
do you draw the line if you start saying this
country should not be here because of this or that.
I'm going to watch and that's why. Let me ask
you this. So I know how old do you? I'm
fifty eight, okay, so we're around the same age. I
know in my heart of hearts, if they kept the
(17:35):
Jewish athletes from Berlin in nineteen thirty six, there's no
way because of Nazi Germany. If I was an athlete
I could have participated in it or even been a
part of it or watched it. Yeah, Hitler, Yeah, they
were trying to showcase Nazi growing power at the time. Yeah,
you can almost rationalize to justify doing anything in life.
(18:00):
And I understand that I'm going to watch it because
of just said, Okay, no problem, we appreciate the call.
Thank you. Let's go to John and Wisconsin a couple
of Fox Sports Radio. What you got, Um, yeah, I
just I'm not agreeing with the whole uh protesting thing
(18:20):
during the Olympics. You know, we we tune in to
watch sports and it is one thing to try and
unite the whole world together. Um. You know, you're you're
you were talking about the you know, police violence on
but you know, the Black Lives Matter movement and stuff,
which yes, I see that, but also I mean the
(18:41):
percentage wise of police violence on blacks compared to like
the violence of the neighborhoods. Like I'm having a black
on black crime argument. But what I will I will
engage you on your first point of the idea, where
you were saying that you have a problem with the
idea of protesting in sports. Are you tune in to
watch sports. But the thing about it, John, is you're
(19:01):
tuning in to watch actual people do a job. Right.
I understand that this sports is entertaining for us. And
don't get me wrong, I'm the biggest sports fan there
are and it is literally why I dedicated my life
to try to find this job. However, I'm aware of
the fact that it takes the ten guys on a
basketball court to make a basketball game happen, and if
those ten guys are in some type of situation and
(19:21):
in time, some type of dire straits, I think it's
honestly a little inhumane to think that you should just
be able to just go out there and do your
job and do your job to the same ability, because
everybody has bad days, John, even if you don't necessarily
agree with what to me is obvious where there's a
black a black issue in terms of being shot by
police officers, and stop with the argument on black on
(19:43):
black crime. I mean it's the weakest argument ever. And
it's weak because there's one thing to talk about, you know,
violence or people robbing people or killing people. It's another
thing to say that the police who are hired to
protect and serve all the one killing unarmed people. That
will never be accepted. It ain't the same and I
(20:06):
want you to go do some research. Ninety percent these
are FBI statistics, not Rob Parker's statistics. Ninety percent of
all black people are killed by all the black people.
Eighty one percent of all white people are killed by
white people. You know what that tells you, Martin, that
most people kill you live around you know, you, family lovers, whatever.
(20:28):
That that's the history that that those are, those are
the real numbers. Those are the numbers. Has nothing to
do with Ray stop it market market, Arizona, the odd couple,
what you got, buddy. Yeah, my thought is on the
you know, on the on the NBA and the credibility
the NBA has when when they're you know, they're one
(20:48):
of the biggest supporters of the largest human rights violators
in the world, and that's the Chinese Communist Party. Like
my my credibility goes with it. I love it. Hey,
I got news for you, buddy. Just about every American
company that you I imagine you participate with, they got
some business going on in China. That's a that's just
a weird hit of die on right now. I understand that,
(21:09):
but when when you're talking like protests at the Olympics,
it's it's kind of like, so if somebody comes up
with weaker lives matter and they want to protest that
on their shirt, kind of like you know what he
was saying about. You know, all countries have problems. The
Olympics is all all together going to have an issue. No,
but hold hold on, hold on, I got it. You're right,
I got it. But when the IOC has no problem
(21:31):
with going into Nazi Germany and banning Jewish athletes, I'm
just trying to trying to figure out how that's okay.
But somebody wearing a T shirt or or banner saying
black lives matters the end of the world, just explain it,
and they shouldn't have, you know. Unfortunately, they singled out
the Black Lives Matter. And that's the unfortunate part because
(21:51):
it's it's a big it's a big issue, and it's
a very, very big issue in the United States. But
I understand being entangled with Chinese companies and stuff. But
the NBA entangled and they're talking human rights and so
so it would it be better if they weren't talking
human rights, you know what I mean? Like I don't
understand what the overarching point is that like that Fox
News is talking point, Like I understand like everybody all
(22:12):
like the cell phone that you call us with, that's
what they're they're doing company with. They're doing business in China.
It was probably made in China. So the ideas that
you don't talk about human rights it's somehow better. Like
I don't understand what you mean that logic is. It
doesn't make any sense. Okay, here we go. All right,
We've got Tishert's Tower of Trivia. Oh coming up next

so easy for tight shirts. Tower of Trivia. That's right,
Tisher's Tower of Trivia, The segment that proves you don't
(23:38):
even gotta like sports to work in sports media. The
big star this segment none other than our resident DJ,
the King of Weave Nation, my man DJ Alex Rob G.
It's good to be here. Unlike some other person on
this show. I will never let our fans down, even
though I probably know not as much sports as Christopher Start.
But it's good to be here. Yes, it's nice to
have all time off, all the time saying I'm here
(24:01):
every Friday night. Rob. All I'm saying is Rob, you
and me need to get the same agent as Rob
Gi and Christos. I mean, sorry, guys, I'm just chopped.
This thing's on. I can hear you guys? Hellod a mercy?
All right, so let's get to it. This gets very easy.
They're all sports related questions. In this case, the theme
(24:23):
is teams that changed cities. Okay, now you all got
a chance to give one word clues to help Alex
Martin one world the correct answer that we are looking for,
Rob Parker. We flipped a coin. Thankfully, you gotta go first. Hopefully,
let's go really easy for you. Level number one. Question
number one, Rob Parker, get the first crack at it, Rob.
(24:45):
This NBA franchise famously moved from New Orleans to Utah,
where I've been told that music is not allowed. Rob.
Their mascot is the blank smooth. Oh that's to be jazz.
Good job, all right, Ten points for Rob Parker. Question
(25:06):
number two over to you, Martin. Hopefully you got the
hang of this after one question. Got it. The Seattle
SuperSonics moved Oklahoma City two thousand and eight. They got
a brand new nickname in the process. They are now
known as the OKAC Blank Lightning Thunder. That is correct, Martin.
(25:26):
There's a big like hint here. Just think like me.
That's it. Thanks, give me something that I'd just snap
on for lunch. Here we go, Level number three. We're
all tied up. Ten points apiece, Rob Parker. The city
of New York had a football and baseball team with
the same mascot until that baseball team decided to move
to San Francisco. However, the mascot stayed the same, and
(25:49):
now they're called the San Francisco Blank, humongous Giant. That
is good, god ra Okay, their mascots are giants, Giants
with a still count this okay cool, let's go Rob,
All right, here we go. Let't call me you mongus.
(26:10):
And then it turned into giants. Oh wow, magic city nickname.
Huh that's there on the stage, sticking stage chasty. Here
we go, Level number four. No, oh no, get me
out of here, same place, Level number four. Guess left.
(26:34):
Get a little bit tougher here, Martin. Here we go.
Ten points on the board for you, if you can
get it. This NFL franchise started out in Oakland before
moving to Los Angeles and eighty two, then back to
Oakland ninety five, only to move to Vegas last year.
That team is the Blank. That's a horrible glue. Bridges on.
(26:59):
Come on, I'm trying. I'm gonna be honest. I'm gonna
be honest. If you don't know the name of the
team that started out in Oakland and moved to LA
in nineteen eighty two. Word Martin stopped trying. You don't
know that answer, that's it. You can't one word. I
don't want to surprise you here, but I don't really
follow sports. He doesn't do follow sports. Hold on, you
said Fridges, the Fridges. That's two words, but you know
(27:21):
remove the article. What the heck? Okay, no, no, no,
I think I know now you No, Fridges was the word.
Gave four words, the word doing more than one. You're
saying fridges. I said fridges. You said fridges. Take out
the porticable exactly article Fridges. Rob, what is it my life? No? No, no, no,
(27:45):
Rob Parker gets a chance to steal nine points. Rob,
if you can get this, we're ready. I think I
know it. Yeah, Okay, that clue didn't help a clue.
I gave a better clue. I've robbed. That clue was
not grave. Oh man, I kind of want to just
I really want to see what Martin's next clue is now,
(28:06):
because I think I know it. Arc three two. Why wow,
Way couldn't you just guess what you thought? I'm confused, though,
Hold you like my next way? Hold on, Martin Ark
threw me off eight points here if you can get
this one, Martin points pirates Raiders. That is correct. Oh,
(28:32):
buy a fridge, Raiders and all. And I said the
writers of the Lost Arc. I was gonnas that movie
came out thirty five years ago. Fridge every day. Everybody
knows that movie. Well, if it was Raiders of the
Lost Art, Yeah, but I couldn't say I get only one.
(28:53):
I was gonna say, and now if I got another chance,
I was gonna say lost. Okay, it's just hard for
me to ground from Arc roum. That's all. But cue
all right, here we go level number five. Back to
Rob Parker. Rob, trying to put some distance in between
him and Rob Art Model, tried to move the Browns
(29:14):
to Baltimore in the nineties, but rather than ditch of
the Browns history altogether, the NFL just gave him a
new franchise. That team still plays in Baltimore. They are
the blank. Oh what you got from me? Rob? Oh
my god? Oh this a tough one again, you know, Rob,
g I see why you gave us the answers? First, God,
(29:37):
let's say what you got from me, Rob, me and
Rob park with the answers not djil No, Alex has
asked me four times. I just give me the ansa. No, no, no,
it's called entertainment tonight, yes, wrong house, Oh my gosh,
uh house, um, guardians. That isn't correct. All right, Martin,
(30:10):
if you get the steel here, because we're running out
of time, you will get the wind. Really, yes, blackbird
one word, black word. Blackbird is one word. Google it.
Blackbird is one word. Blackbird is absolutely one word. Where
did you guys go to school? Yeah, talk called articles
part of simples. Blackbird is one word. It's the type
(30:32):
of Just looked it up and it is not one
hold on, hold on, hold on. I need judging before
I can answer this, because I think I know. Okay,
blackbird is one world. Thank you goodness. I'm sorry. We're
not all masters of something. He's his master of his
own door. All right, Alex, if you could get this,
oh man, Martin will get the win. Rob Parker will
(30:55):
go home empty handed. To believe, I'm trying to just
guess what house and blackbird like house? Blackbird I'm trying
to think of the team names right now. Let's go.
Let you know the team names. I'm trying to make
it sound good. Rob, guh Baltimore or three. It's not Crow.
(31:19):
What's the other one of two? Raven? Raven? That is correct,
Let's go. We have a new champion. Let's go. Baby.
You know, I just want to thank everybody. I didn't
believe it when I didn't know. We Sorry. I don't
though I was gonna be ugly. I just think all
my fans were believing in me. I want to thank
God first and foremos Hi what all that? Thank you
couple coming up? It is the couple fun thank the committee,
(31:40):
he said. House Be sure to catch live editions of
The Odd Couple with Chris Broussard and Rob Parker weekdays
at seven pm Eastern, four pm Pacific on Fox Sports
Radio and the iHeart Radio app. All Right, wrapping up
a funky flashback Friday here on The Odd Couple Fox
Sports Radio, Rob Parker and Martin White's filling in for
(32:02):
Chris Broussard. I'm We're coming to you live from the
Fox Sports Radio studios. On Monday, Jonas Knox fills in
for Chris Boussard, that's gonna be a laugh riot. But
jonas in on Monday, and Chris will be back on Tuesday.
So Martin, final segment of the program, and you got
(32:25):
a problem with the Mayweather Paul presser or embarrassing moment. Well, first,
before I say this, I see that Anthony Davis is
going to play tonight. So I'm glad he was able
to survive that miraculous back spasm verse ankle. Whatever happened that,
you know, apparently he's both according to you from earlier
in the show, is going to befel him for the
(32:46):
rest of the season. But no, I didn't say that
now anyway, in any event, No, what happened the whoever
Paul brother and Floyer may Weather, whatever they're doing right now, Like,
don't get me wrong, I'm here for the fun. I'm
here to make jokes. I'm here to laugh. I'm here
like I sports sports for me or entertainment. I understand that, right,
(33:08):
But whatever's happening with this Floyd man, whether he's like
he stole my cap and like if you watch them,
if you watched it, if you watch the rob it's
a typical like fight press conference, where like there's a
couple questions asked, and then basically the fighters get in
front of each other, nose to nose, and they start
making all these you know, threatening noises. I suppose you
know whatever there whatever, whatever men like that are doing
(33:28):
in situations such as that, right, whatever they're saying, whatever
they're doing. So it was that scenario. And then whichever
Paul brother was reaches out and grabbed Floyd Mayweather his
hat off his head. So and then Floyd of course
is now obligated to chase after him as all these
people are getting in the middle of him, and like,
all right, cool, Like I get that, and I get
to your drying to drum up attention for the fight
(33:50):
and all this. But then you see a video on
barstool this guy saying, hey man, I gotta stole your cap.
No cap, and it's just like, what are we really
doing here? Like and I'm the same this is me,
the same guy who's gonna sit up and watch I
watched Mike Tyson fighty Vander holy Field like today, like
why not, I don't care, but like what this one
feels weird? It feels a little dirty to me, and
(34:10):
it feels I don't know. I just don't like it.
It's embarrassed, poked up over it. Well, I mean, obviously
they shouldn't be fighting. And again this is another one.
They will not get one red nickel from me. I'm
not paying for this. It's an embarrassment that Mayweather would
stoop this low just for a money grab to get
in the ring with a guy who doesn't belong in
(34:30):
the ring with him. Most boxers just wouldn't do it.
That's the sad part. And people say, wow, this is
what the people want. That doesn't mean that you have
to buy it. I'm not buying it. I would I
would not give them one red nickel, any principle, any
money that I would put to buy it. I would
put the bed on Floyd Mayweather because but you know what,
the way this thing looks, it looks it. Excuse me,
(34:51):
it completely looks made up, fake. And don't get me wrong,
I don't think that Connor McGregor and Floyd Mayweather. When
I was there at the LA LA press conference when
doing their world tour, I didn't think they're gonna start
fighting in that moment. I understood the one I was
watching had some level of script to it like, I
understand that I'm watching Floyd and he's talking about look
at this time, I'm kind of talking about look at
his tiny legs, look at his tiny chest, Like I
(35:13):
understand that kind of probably thought that one up before
he got there to try to bust that one down
on him. And I see who's on whose side and
all of that. But for this one, I'm just like, who.
I just don't get it. Who is this four who?
It's for suckers. It's for people who are looking for entertainment,
who have seventy five dollars to ways to just love
(35:34):
a train wreck Martin. You know rubber necking traffic, You go,
what is the slowdown? I don't understand it. There's usually
an accident on the other side. Because people want to
see they want to see the carnage, they want to
see the train wreck, they want to see how ridiculous
it is. And that's why people keep putting on these
bad events, because the public won't hold them responsible. They
(35:58):
just throw their money away. So instead they say, we
could put this garbage on and we're gonna collect seventy
five million dollars. They laugh at people behind the scenes.
They wear a ski mask when they go to the
bank to deposit the money. It's it's just a Joe
to me, It's like Joe if you're Floyd, Like, if
you're Floyd Mayweather, you're not hurting for no type of money,
(36:20):
or maybe you are. Hell, I don't know the man's pockets,
but all I've seen on Instagram which show don't look
like it. I just can't imagine why this not all
money is good money. Man, Sometimes you just gotta let
it go, like I would just well, don't I just retire?
Like if this is what you're doing, if you don't
want to fight, nobody couldn't stop fighting this stop fighting.
I don't get it either. It doesn't make any sense.
(36:41):
Where's your You had all this pride about being undefeated
in your career and taking your boxing career seriously, and
now you're getting in the ring with anybody who can
give you a payday. I mean, it turned it. It's
turned into a clown show. So there it is. But anyway,
mister Martin Weiss, we appreciate you filling in. Hope you
had some fun, good time, good time. Appreciate you, Thanks Chris,
(37:03):
Thanks Scott Schapiro for making it happen, no doubt. All right,
and uh again, Chris will be off for Monday, but
Jonas Knox, the official Odd Couple side piece, we'll be
into entertain So we'll do all that and have a
great weekend man, I mean, it's chill out, watch some baseball,
(37:24):
watch some basketball. We'll be back on Monday. The Odd Couple,
Fox Sports Radio, stick and stay
