and uh Matt Verddam right. He is an NFL staff

third hour. So we have a lot to do, so

(02:20):
little time. So let's bring in the odd couple crew
because we wouldn't be able to do this fine radio
program without him. Facts, man, we got we got everybody
here today. Shay is our producer. Yo, I haven't seen.

(02:41):
I haven't seen uh Bill, I know I got the
name wrong. I haven't seen you in like three months.
Hit me up, mighty, Mark, mighty, All right, Mark, I
haven't seen you in months.

Speaker 3 (02:54):
My god, you're back.

Speaker 1 (02:56):
Uh. Mark is our engineer, filling in for every Nobody's

Mark is the engineer, Shaye is the producer. Uh, Steve
Disager's at the update desk, and Elijah's doing social media.

Speaker 5 (03:15):
It's kind of like the Olympic team, you know, Steve's
a lebron James of the group, and you got some
new faces, the Jason Tatum Anthony Edwards of the world,
you know in market and and Shae.

Speaker 1 (03:25):
I mean, can you I'm literally I'm not working with
Mark in about six months. Mark, have you been hoting?
You're doing other shows? You don't love us anymore?

Speaker 3 (03:36):
Working other shows? All the above? All right, you have,
I haven't seen you in months. I can't believe it's
been a while. But well I watched them with the
internet stuff, so I've seen you, but you haven't seen that.

Speaker 1 (03:47):
There you go, all right, but we got Mark. He'll
be uh here with us throughout all right. Uh, let's
do this to Sean King, who of course played in
the NFL.

Speaker 6 (03:57):
Uh.

Speaker 1 (03:57):
Everybody knows what the quarterback with the Tampa Bay Bucks,
that team that just couldn't get over the hump.

Speaker 3 (04:02):
I'm not trying to rub it. And I'm just saying, you.

Speaker 4 (04:05):
Film a championship. I don't know what you're referring to.

Speaker 3 (04:06):
You guys were really good.

Speaker 4 (04:08):
Yeah, we want a championship.

Speaker 1 (04:09):
Yeah, I'm just saying you should have wanted where Tony
Dungee is all I'm saying.

Speaker 5 (04:13):
I agree if the Buccaneers organization had taken a Pittsburgh
Steelers approach and show patients with Tony, I think the
team would have more than two super Bowl titles.

Speaker 4 (04:28):
I truly believe that.

Speaker 1 (04:29):
Yeah, it was definitely one of those things. I just
kept thinking that they were going to win and it
just didn't happen. And before we get into our topic,
I do want to say we should condolences and love
and prayers. Phil Donahue passed away, who was a television
icon used to rule daytime television. When you think about

(04:49):
the studio audiences and hot topics that people were talking
about back in the day. It was Phil Donahue. Everybody
came after him. He started off with a show and
they ate in Ohio. Uh and it became a national
show and been big. And then Oprah Winfrey and everybody else,
you know what I mean, followed that show and became

(05:11):
even bigger than Phil was. But Phil wasn't was an
iconic figure. And Marlo Thomas's.

Speaker 4 (05:19):
Rip to the Donahue family. Know, it sounds like every
week somebody big.

Speaker 5 (05:24):
Icon of your adolescents or early years is passing away.

Speaker 1 (05:28):
It's crazy. But you know what, there are a lot
of big celebrities who are up there in age he
was eighty eight. I mean, it just happens.

Speaker 3 (05:35):
All right, let's kick off with football, and we know.

Speaker 1 (05:38):
The preseason games all weekend long, and Sean I get it.

Speaker 3 (05:45):
And you know this. People are wrong in sports all
the time about people.

Speaker 1 (05:51):
Oh they can't do this, they they're not.

Speaker 3 (05:54):
Good enough, this that the other thing. You know what
happens a lot.

Speaker 1 (05:59):
Okay, it's not like everybody who's who's drafted high, everybody says,
oh yeah, he's gonna be a star and their star,
or he's going to be a bus and he's a bus.
It's it's not like that. It's all over the map.
But Tua comes out and shade shadey, we have sound
of No, it's just words. Do we have sound?

Speaker 4 (06:23):
Wet? We got sound?

Speaker 1 (06:23):
Okay, let let's let's hear this. Okay, Sean, Okay, we'll
get to that. But he just basically criticizes Brian Flores, who,
if I remember correctly, Sean didn't want to didn't want
to draft him. So it's always a tough spot when
you're a coach and you draft somebody that you don't
really want at that time. I can't remember who it

(06:45):
was he wanted, but I don't believe it was Tua.
And so Tua was on the Dan Lebratard Show and basically, quote,
to put it in the simplest uh terms, quote, if
you woke up every day and I told you, told

(07:06):
you that you sucked at what you did and that
you don't belong doing what you do and that you
shouldn't be here, that this guy should be here, and
that you haven't earned this right. And then you have
somebody else come in and tell you, dude, you're the
best fit for this. You are accurate you are the

(07:28):
best whatever you are?

Speaker 3 (07:30):
This okay, do we have the sound? All right? Let's
hear from two himself.

Speaker 7 (07:35):
To put it in simplest terms, if you woke up
every morning and I told you you sucked at what
you did, that you don't belong doing what you do,
that you shouldn't be here, that this guy should be here,
that you haven't earned this right, and then you have

(07:55):
somebody else come in and tell you, dude, you are
the best fit for this, like you are accurate, you
are the best whatever you are, this you were that? Like,
how would it make you feel listening to one or
the other? You see what I'm saying, and then you
hear it. You hear it regardless of what it is,
the good or the bad, and you hear it more

(08:16):
and more. You start to actually believe that, I don't
care who you are, you could be the president of
the United States. You have a terrible person that's telling
you things that you don't want to hear or that
you probably shouldn't be hearing.

Speaker 4 (08:30):
You're gonna tart to believe that about yourself.

Speaker 1 (08:32):
Sean, here's my problem and what he's saying. I get
it positive reinforcement. Negative we get that. If you tell
a little kid that they could do whatever they want
to do in life or whatever, you probably got a
good shot that that kid's going to believe.

Speaker 3 (08:46):
It or you know, and have a chance to do something.

Speaker 1 (08:49):
Or if you tell a little kid every day that
they're dumb and stupid and that never amounts to anything,
probably not gonna work out either.

Speaker 3 (08:56):
Okay, So I get that. My only issue is why
why even bring that up?

Speaker 1 (09:03):
He got the contents, he played great last year, he
stayed healthy, he got the contract Brian Flores.

Speaker 3 (09:09):
Is that really where you want to go?

Speaker 2 (09:11):
Like?

Speaker 1 (09:11):
Why he's not even a head coach anymore? I think
he won by default? Right, he got the big contract
for the Dolphins. He's still there. He's their franchise quarterback.
Brian Flores is in Pittsburgh as an assistant coach and
the end of story and probably will never get another
head coaching job. Do you really need Sean to say anything?
I guess that's my only issue, not the context of it. Well, Rob,

(09:34):
it enhances what I still believe. And this is in
spite of Tua getting the four year to I.

Speaker 3 (09:40):
Told you you're going to get this count track. You
were in Ny believe.

Speaker 4 (09:43):
I'm happy for.

Speaker 5 (09:44):
Him, but Tua is seeking comfort in this situation. He's
not in alpha male. Brian Flora has got the Miami
Dolphin job after spending ten years one of the greatest
alphas we've ever seen named Tom Brady.

Speaker 4 (09:59):
Not in great skill athlete.

Speaker 5 (10:01):
Nobody thinks that Brady throws the best football, or has
the most arm talent, or is even an average athlete.
But his combination of football IQ, calmness when everything is chaotic,
and his ability to lead and be an alpha created
a lot of success. Blind Flores got to Miami and
never forget this. Joe Burrow was the first pick in
to his draft, but Justin Herbert was taken directly after Tour,

(10:24):
and Jordan Love was taken at the end of that
first round, and Jalen Hurts was taken early in the
second round. I challenge people right now to tell me
one NFL team not named the Miami.

Speaker 4 (10:35):
Dolphins that would take Tour over Herbert or Jordan Love.

Speaker 3 (10:39):
What has Herbert done?

Speaker 4 (10:41):
He's just his ceiling is just how I get it.

Speaker 1 (10:43):
But he did you see what he did last year?
Last year he had a lot of bad fourth quarter interceptions.
He took a step back, and I understand you like
what he looks like, you like the arm, but the
results were good. You gotta admit that you would you
acknowledged that he didn't play well last year.

Speaker 4 (11:02):
I think Herbert has a lot to prove in this league.

Speaker 5 (11:04):
What I'm saying is if I'm gonna hitch my wagon,
my career, my legacy to one of these guys, the
ceiling is so much higher with those other guys. I
don't think you can win championships with a tour at quarterback.

Speaker 1 (11:19):
You can't say macause a lot of guys have won
quarter bad quarterback with the leadership and with an IQ
of for Drew Brees with the Tampa with Tampa one,
Baltimore one. Without star quarterbacks, what do you.

Speaker 5 (11:34):
Tampa had Pro bowlers on the defense, full of famers
with the quarterback Brad Johnson's better than to Brad. No,
he's not stop it stops ro This is how Lily is.
If you go back and listen to that audio, listen,
Tua said, what if somebody came in the room and
told you you shouldn't be here, you don't belong here,

(11:54):
you're not good enough. What would you think then when
he went to the good side, rob the only thing
he could say was what if somebody else came in
here and said you were accurate? And then he went
dot dot because he can't even come up with something
else that he does at an elite level.

Speaker 1 (12:09):
His ball location is the only he had. He had
a good hass. He had a very good year. You
cannot shot.

Speaker 5 (12:14):
Through twenty nine touchdowns and fourteen picks. That year is
so overblown. He was in the top five and like
every category. Okay, he threw twenty nine touchdowns fourteen.

Speaker 1 (12:26):
He also put up a seventy piece and we're not
talking about McNuggets. He put up a seventy piece in
the NFL. Sagan should be fired.

Speaker 3 (12:34):
We haven't seen that. Okay, that alone, buddy.

Speaker 1 (12:37):
You know, for a so so quarterback to put up
seventy sean you played in the league. You ain't see
nobody put up no seventy points in no NFL game.

Speaker 5 (12:46):
Come on, man, that was rough. I'll say this, man, listen,
I'm not anti tour. All I'm saying is I understood
Brian Flores's position. If you were going to take a
quarterback at five, I would have went with the upside play,
and when you look at to his career, he's always
a guy that seems to be seeking love. Mike McDaniel's
really the first time he's ever founded rob. When he

(13:08):
got to Alabama, he had to back up Jalen Hurts.
When he eventually took over for Jalen Hurts, they had
Matt Jones sit behind him, so when he got hurt,
Matt Jones came in and played at a high level.
He's looking him for love. He founded in McDaniel. Hopefully
it works for him. I don't think it will.

Speaker 3 (13:22):
We'll see this will be something. But they had no shot.

Speaker 1 (13:25):
They had twenty some of our quarterback since Dan Marino left.
What choice did they have other than to go with
the guy who stayed healthy all year, put up top
five numbers in almost every category. And if you're the Dolphins,
what was your alternative?

Speaker 5 (13:40):
It's easy to say you don't even believe what you're saying,
Yes I do. It's needs to a guy you don't
believe it.

Speaker 3 (13:44):
It's easy to just say get somebody else. There is
nobody else. That's the problem.

Speaker 1 (13:48):
Eight seven seven ninety nine on Fox eight seven seven
nine nine six sixty three sixty nine. I get what
he's talking about. I just don't think it was necessary
to air that out. You got the contract, you're the
starting quarterback and the franchise quarterback of the Dolphins. Brian
Flores is out, will probably never get another head coaching job.

Speaker 4 (14:08):
You won.

Speaker 3 (14:09):
You don't have to say it. You don't have to
tell it.

Speaker 4 (14:11):
Even by the way, Joss McDaniels got multiple shots Brian Flora.

Speaker 1 (14:14):
Should I'm just saying, after the lawsuit with the against
the NFL, you're thinking you'll get another hedge coaching job.
I'm just asking no, okay, that's my that's my reason.
Not because he can't coach. I just don't believe once
you bring litigation against the league that they're gonna hire you.
I don't. All right, we want to hear from you.
What do you think about to his comments? Were they

(14:34):
necessary unnecessary? I just think they're unnecessary. He's already won.
No reason to step on Brian Flores at this time.
You got the bag, you got the contract, you got
the starting franchise quarterback situation.

Speaker 3 (14:51):
You're good, all right.

Speaker 1 (14:52):

Com studios. Tyre rac dot Com will help you get there,

The Way tire buying should be coming up in about
twenty eight minutes. Jared Smith Fox Sports Radio hosts of
course Countdown the Kickoff on Saturdays, and a sports betting guru.
And before we get into talking about Caleb Williams and

(16:34):
the Bears and the former USC Heisman Trophy winner Sean
King for people who do not know played in the NFL,
he played at Tulane and what were you drafting the
second round nineteen ninety nine Tampa Bay Bucks and Sean

(16:55):
also played for the Arizona Cardinals, was with the Lions
and off season one year also with the Colts and
playing in the CFL too.

Speaker 3 (17:05):
Was that during practice squad?

Speaker 1 (17:08):
But he did win a Super Bowl with that that
Tampa Bay Bucks team and in his career twenty seven touchdowns,
twenty four picks and a seventy three quarterback rating.

Speaker 5 (17:24):
We have there we go, Yeah, my bad. You know
what I found out about two years ago and I
didn't know this. You know, back then we didn't have
social media. We're talking ninety nine, two thousand. Uh I
was the first rookie quarterback to start and win a
playoff game in modern NFL history?

Speaker 6 (17:40):
Is that right?

Speaker 3 (17:41):
Who knew that? I didn't know that.

Speaker 4 (17:42):
I did not know that.

Speaker 5 (17:43):
Now there have been guys who have done it afterwards.
Ben Roethlisberg comes to mind. H A couple other guys
I know, Jalen Hurt and not hurt. A couple other
guys have done it recently. I don't have to listen
in my head.

Speaker 3 (17:54):
I know, but you were the first one.

Speaker 4 (17:55):
Wow?

Speaker 1 (17:55):
Ever, yeap, that is pretty neat. That is pretty neat,
and let's go talking. I just want people to know that,
you know, you played in the league. You're a quarterback.
I want a super Bowl. And that's why when it
comes to quarterbacks and your evaluations, not that you're always right,
but I respect your opinion on quarterbacks. I do because
I think you're fair. You look at people and you

(18:18):
try to give an honest take on it. There's some
people I just I shake a stick at because I'm
just not buying you know what, I mean, what they're selling.
I'm dead serious, and you know me, I'm not showing
on I'm not bsing you. But Caleb Williams. I mean,
there was a lot of stuff.

Speaker 5 (18:34):
I get it.

Speaker 1 (18:35):
Caleb was making a lot of money as a quarterback
in college. You want a heisman, you know, there's there's
some stuff that goes with him Hollywood, if you want
to call it or whatever it is. And you know,
I teach at USC but I watched the guy play.
I think he's a really good player. I'm one surprised
he's the first overall pick. Some people said they weren't.

(18:56):
He wasn't even on their draft board. I can't respect that.
You know, you're playing a major program. How in the
world you might not be your first pick. But to say, Sean,
he ain't on your draft board, Come on, man, next,
That's that's insane, Like you just want attention. But you know,
the stories out of the Bears is that he's shown
that he belongs and he's played pretty well, had a

(19:18):
big touchdown throw this past weekend of forty three yarder,
and people just have liked what they've.

Speaker 3 (19:24):
Seen from him so far.

Speaker 1 (19:26):
And I just want to hear from your evaluation a Sean,
where were you prior, you know, before the draft, what.

Speaker 4 (19:34):
You think of him?

Speaker 1 (19:35):
And then what have you seen so far, and we
know preseason ain't going to dictate anything, you know what
I mean?

Speaker 3 (19:42):
No, but you can't look at some things.

Speaker 4 (19:44):
What do you what have you?

Speaker 3 (19:46):
What do you think before? And what do you think now?

Speaker 5 (19:47):
I always evaluate this position as if I'm the owner
or GM of a franchise. Okay, and I had Jay
and Daniels rank number one, Michael Pennock's ranked two, and
Caleb Williams ranked three.

Speaker 3 (19:59):
Okay, so he was on your board.

Speaker 4 (20:00):
Oh yes, absolutely, he's on the board. Anybody just says
he isn't He's lying. Right.

Speaker 5 (20:06):
Here's the thing with Caleb. Let me give me an
analogy and let me see if you can make it
make sense. He's kind of like Anthony Edwards as a rookie.
Remember Edwards had that one dunk with him. I mean,
he just posterized he should have.

Speaker 4 (20:22):
Been of the year.

Speaker 3 (20:22):
I don't care what anybody said, but he.

Speaker 5 (20:24):
Still needed to work on his handle. He still needed
to become a more consistent three point shooter.

Speaker 3 (20:29):
And he's a player now, right.

Speaker 5 (20:31):
I think Caleb Williams is kind of like that same
kind of piece of clay. And here's why nobody talks
about this, But there's a glaring deficiency that Caleb has
that he has to fix.

Speaker 4 (20:43):
I don't think he sees the field well.

Speaker 5 (20:46):
When you watch Caleb Williams play rob you never see
him or very rarely do you see him in the
pocket in.

Speaker 4 (20:52):
Rhythm deliver the football on time. Almost all of his
highlight plays, almost all of his.

Speaker 5 (21:01):
Are broken plays. And I think it's because he doesn't
see the feel well from the pocket.

Speaker 4 (21:06):
He's much Could it be?

Speaker 1 (21:08):
Could it be that because he can move around as
well and you and you know there's too sean. You know,
once a quarterback moves and defenders, you know you you
have a better shot at big plays, you know what
I mean, rather than just standing there once once they
think maybe you're you're running our way or you're moving,

(21:28):
they might have to give up on the on the
defense and come forward and it could open something up
that's fair or not.

Speaker 5 (21:34):
It's absolutely it's not the ability to have Jaydon Daiels
is a better athlete and better at extending plays than
Kayler Williams, but he's also way more consistent from throwing
the ball in rhythm on time from the pocket, which
is what it takes to win games. That's why I
think the Bears season is going to be interesting because
I think Caleb could be on Fox Sports Top ten

(21:56):
plays every week and the Bears could still be a
below five hundred team. I truly believe both things could
be true. And that's where Caleb has to get better.
I think Pennix and Daniels are light years ahead of
him in that particular area.

Speaker 4 (22:08):
That's why I had them rate it higher, but he does.
I was extremely high ceiling.

Speaker 3 (22:13):
Yeah, I like what I see so far.

Speaker 1 (22:15):
And again, you know, being out here in LA and
being a chance to watch them, you know, it's different
where maybe everybody doesn't always watch or you just see,
like you say, the highlights. I just thought it was
really unfair, and a lot of it was because of
the off the field stuff and they just don't to.

Speaker 5 (22:33):
Himself, you know, I mean, And it was like when
an average fan starts hearing you want a percentage of
the team, right and all that, you want to have
a contract that doesn't allow you to be franchised, even
if those things should be a part of the collective
parkaining agreement, They're not like that'll turn people off.

Speaker 1 (22:49):
Yeah, I think sometimes it can be unfair because we
never heard it from his mouth, you know what I'm saying,
And I know this stuff gets out. It was kind
of like what was the what was the thing with
the Cardinals when they had Yeah, but they had this
thing that he had to watch film, you remember that
his contract, like like that was and then the leak

(23:09):
that out, you know what I mean? That was that
was to embarrass him.

Speaker 4 (23:12):
I have not seen Heart Knocks set. Have you seen it?

Speaker 5 (23:14):
Because he looks like the team likes him. It looks
like they get along, which was a concern that I
had because sc Sidelin didn't always look like that. But
I haven't seen Heart Knocks yet. I got to watch
a couple of episodes.

Speaker 1 (23:28):
And you know it just to me, it's going to
be interesting. And I don't think I think you know,
we've seen a lot of quarterbacks come in the league
and not make it. I mean, it ain't just because
you the first overall pick or a top pick. It's
not that easy.

Speaker 5 (23:44):
Then we've seen a lot of first picks, well not
a lot, but we've seen some first picks fail and
be better the second or third time around.

Speaker 4 (23:50):
A Baker Mayfield type.

Speaker 1 (23:52):
Yeah, and you know what, Baker, A lot of people
wrote him off and I didn't think so. I thought
that that was extreme and a lot of it had
to do with it off the field and just his persona.
And that's why I think with Caleb it's more about
his persona rather than and I'm not saying he's flawless
and and he's perfect.

Speaker 4 (24:10):
On everything and he doesn't see TV good and bad.

Speaker 1 (24:13):
Yeah, but he's definitely an exciting quarterback who you want
to see and they and they put some pieces parts
right around him. Don't you like some of the moves
that the Bears made a lot of Justin Fields fans
are mad and say he didn't.

Speaker 3 (24:27):
Have the wide receivers and the and the and the
help that they just got Caleb.

Speaker 5 (24:32):
Yeah, they brought in DJ more Fields last year, but
then they added Keenan Allen, they drafted Homer Doon say
they brought.

Speaker 4 (24:39):
Yeah, it's much better talent.

Speaker 5 (24:41):
It's appointing constant, not just Justin but Mitchell Trubisky or
any of the other quarterbacks that the Bears had.

Speaker 1 (24:46):
You know, we're surrounded with, but they had no choice
in taking him. And I'm gonna say this, Sean, when
you haven't had a franchise quarterback since Sid Luckman in
the forties or fifties, you know, as a Bear. If
you don't take him, and that dude winds up being
you know what I mean, like you would because because
sometimes we have a saying in the press box. When

(25:09):
there's a story in front of you, Sean, just write it.
Don't be too cute, do you know what I mean?
Trying to there's a story that's obvious, just write it.

Speaker 3 (25:21):
And there's a pick there.

Speaker 1 (25:22):
You haven't had a franchise quarterback since Moby Dick was
a guppy.

Speaker 5 (25:26):
What don't try to be cute? Hey, shout out to
Ryan Poles. I wouldn't have done it. If Sean King
was the GM of the Bears. Jayden Daniels will be
in Chicago as a number one pick, and I would
tell my fan base he won a Heisman, Caleb won
a Heisman. You gotta trust me on my evaluations for
who I think is better. Well, I mean, like Jadam
had less credentials than Caleb. Yeah, but it's not, it's not.

(25:49):
And in that case, they're they're very comparable. That's rather,
It's not like that would be outrageous or something, you
know what I mean? So I think you would be
fair there, Like you said, not like one one of
Heisman and the other one didn't. They both had the
same kind of credentials. So I truly think Jaydon Daniels
is a more athletic version of C. J. Stroud, and
I think the world of Strout. I think at the

(26:11):
end of this season, Rob there'll be a legitimate argument
that Strout's the second best quarterback in the world.

Speaker 1 (26:17):
Yeah, and only Patrick Mahomes. I gotta wait and see that.
I'm just a second year and I'm not saying he
had a fantastic first year. Uh you know, you know
there's changes coming.

Speaker 5 (26:30):
But they got better around him. They will be healthy.
They brought his Joe Mixon.

Speaker 4 (26:35):
I got it.

Speaker 1 (26:36):
But last last year, no one expected. Nobody expected anything,
and they're not surprising anybody. I'm not saying that that
that means automatically they're going to take a step back,
but I don't Last year was a total surprise with
a rookie, first time coach and a rookie quarterback.

Speaker 3 (26:53):
That just doesn't happen.

Speaker 5 (26:55):
Added Danielle Hunter to that defense. Do me a favor
because you say that you respect my onions. Just make
a small play on Houston to win the Super Bowl.

Speaker 4 (27:05):
Thank you later. Yeah, just make a.

Speaker 1 (27:06):
Small play, Okay, I remember that one, uh hedge later?
So where where can Caleb be? Uh Rookie of the
year or.

Speaker 4 (27:15):
No, yeah, he can be.

Speaker 5 (27:17):
This is a wide open rookie of the Year because
it's not really about the particular talent. It's about it
gonna be about success, I think. Yeah. I mean, because
you got Marvin you know, down in Arizona, you got
a Doonsay in Chicago, you got mylite neighbors in New York,
you got all the quarterbacks. It's gonna be interesting, interesting,
interesting race.

Speaker 1 (27:35):
Yep, all right, eight seven seven ninety nine on Fox
eight seven seven nine nine six sixty three sixty nine.
Just Caleb Williams your thoughts? Has he changed your mind?
I mean, obviously it's just exhibition football, preseason football, but
still there were some people who were doubting him, and
he looks the part so far. I like what I've seen.

(27:59):
I'm expecting big things. I expect the Bears to be
way better with Kayleb Williams than they have been. I'm
not saying they're gonna win the division or anything, but
I think that they will be way better and I'm
looking forward to where are you on Caleb thumbs up,
thumbs down or you still need to see more. It

(29:25):
in Chris Bussar and in the open air we talk
about Chris has two beautiful daughters, which he has, but Sean,
I mean, how many kids you got three or four?

Speaker 4 (29:33):
Four?

Speaker 3 (29:34):
Yeah? And he got how many daughters?

Speaker 4 (29:36):
Two and two?

Speaker 1 (29:37):
Yeah? Beautiful, beautiful little girls. And your wife's pretty as well.
But uh, just pretty family. Four kids, man, appreciate it.

Speaker 4 (29:48):
Four.

Speaker 3 (29:48):
Do you ever think you would have that many kids?

Speaker 7 (29:50):
Uh?

Speaker 5 (29:51):
No, absolutely not. But I had two girls, my two
oldest of girls. So I wanted a boy and then
boom boom yeah, then went boom on boy boy.

Speaker 3 (30:00):
Boy boy. So there you go, big family. That's awesome.

Speaker 5 (30:03):
But obviously I eliminated myself, you know, post fourth child,
from the from from the the even put myself in
that position because obviously I didn't have great, you know,
awareness or control.

Speaker 4 (30:15):
So I was like, you know what, let me go
ahead and handicap myself.

Speaker 1 (30:20):
Yes, there you go, but you got four beautiful family.
I love it all right, you man, no doubt. Sean
and I go way back. I mean we worked at
ESPN together, I mean back in the right we were.

Speaker 5 (30:33):
The originators with skip of first take. Remember that show
used to be filmed in New York, right and called
Pizza Right, we go back there, right, people first brought
it to Bristol. I was on one day, you were
on one day to Two Lives students.

Speaker 4 (30:47):
Yep.

Speaker 1 (30:48):
And that's when Jamel Hill and Chris Broussard and Michael Yeah,
we we had and and and you noticed because you've
seen it, it's the show's changed a lot. Obviously Stephen
as guy on it now and runs it and they
bring in so many different people. But showing back in
those days, it was hard to get on first take,
it was am I right, it was hard.

Speaker 4 (31:10):
Yeah, we can only get a date.

Speaker 3 (31:13):
Right, It was like okay, and that was it.

Speaker 1 (31:16):
But they had so many people and now you know
it's a lot of people coming through there, but it
was it was we were back in the good old
days in New York, no doubt.

Speaker 4 (31:25):
Well I'm back and I'm better than every baby there.

Speaker 1 (31:27):
You go, Well, are the Chiefs back and better and
better than ever? Let's talk about that Bill Belichick who's
now a NFL analyst. Now, I guess right, and so
he doesn't think that the Chiefs can go back to
back so let's hear from coach Bill.

Speaker 8 (31:48):
I just think it's gonna be tough this year. That
they're a good team. Don't get me wrong, I'm not
saying that. I just think this third year for it
all to fall in the place three years in a row.

Speaker 4 (31:58):
Is it's tough.

Speaker 8 (31:59):
I think if anybody can do it, it's probably Kansas City.
But it won't be easy. It won't be easy. They'll
have a you know, I'm not sure how tough the
AFC West is going to be, but I think in
the end, you know, they're going to have some some
tough opponents, you know, through the course of the season,
and looked at me.

Speaker 3 (32:16):
Okay, I'm gonna tell you this.

Speaker 1 (32:17):
I agree with Bill Belichick, and I'm gonna tell you
even last year was a shocker that they won.

Speaker 3 (32:23):
A lot of things went their way. Buffalo another miskick.

Speaker 1 (32:27):
I tell you that's you know, I wanted to rename
Buffalo to wide Wright New York because, all right, that's
another one. The game plan in Baltimore looked like they
were on the take or something where they rushed the ball.
They were the best team running the football all year.
You remember that Christmas Day game they had in San Francisco.
What they annihilated them and they didn't even run the ball.

Speaker 5 (32:50):
It was.

Speaker 1 (32:50):
It was unbelievable. They didn't get blown out in that
AFC championship game. They didn't play.

Speaker 5 (32:56):
They They still has people looking funny at the Ravens,
specifically Lamar Jackson.

Speaker 1 (33:01):
Am I right like that was a crazy game that
they still had a chance to add well. Then Flowers
dropped a drop above fumble at the goal line. There
was so many things. They had penalties where they hurt themselves,
set up a field goal where where Mahomes and them
didn't even really move the ball, it was on penalties

(33:22):
that set up a field goal.

Speaker 3 (33:24):
It was just the strangest game I've seen.

Speaker 5 (33:27):
Here's here's the thing, Rob. If there's one team that's
capable of winning three in a row, though, it's them.
What no one's talking about is they didn't really lose anything.
They just added They added Hollywood Brown and they drafted
Xavier Worthy to make that wide receiver corps more explosive

(33:49):
than it's been since Tyreek Kill was there. Where she
Rice didn't get suspended. Travis Kelsey's back, Isaiah Pacheco's back
looks like Clyde with Hilaire is back and feeling good.

Speaker 4 (34:00):
I mean, why not?

Speaker 1 (34:04):
No, deep down you don't believe they're gonna win three.
I'm just I'm just saying, deep deep down, you don't.
And I think Bill Bill Belichick is right, and why
it hasn't happened, uh for a reason.

Speaker 5 (34:16):
And and you know, so let me ask you this
question because I'm not disagreeing with you here. But the
reason that I'm disagreeing is not because I don't believe
in the Chiefs just because I believe in the parody
that it just in the NFL.

Speaker 1 (34:29):
I don't believe. I know, yeah, that's fair, but I
don't totally believe in the Chiefs. I don't think they
were that great last year. I think their defense was good.
Mahomes had a decent year, like decent, not great.

Speaker 7 (34:41):
Uh.

Speaker 1 (34:41):
There were a lot of bad games last year for them,
and they wound up. There's no way they should have
beat Baltimore. There's no way they should have beat Buffalo.
I'm dead serious, Like Buffalo on the road at home,
the way that they ended the season. Then they win
their last six and all of a sudden they turned
it around and then there here's another miss kick that.
That's another thing that went their way the Baltimore game.

(35:04):
I just I still think if if I didn't know
better and knew that they didn't throw the game or whatever,
I would think that they threw the game.

Speaker 3 (35:14):
You know, like just from watching it.

Speaker 1 (35:16):
How do you You're like, you're the best team running
the ball all year, and they and running backs had
like four or five rushes, like seriously in an entire game.

Speaker 4 (35:26):
So here's what's interesting about that.

Speaker 5 (35:28):
I have not been able to get an exact answer,
but sometimes silence says volumes. When you run an RPO,
which means run pass option, run system ROB, A lot
of those are call runs. Well, Lamar's pulling the ball
throwing the RPO, so it's hard to you know, you

(35:50):
can't really blame the coordinator.

Speaker 4 (35:52):
It's just kind of one of those schmatic nuances that happens.

Speaker 3 (35:56):
I'm just saying. But it was totally different from anything
they did or year that that.

Speaker 4 (36:01):
You like the Ravens more with Derek Henry you think
that audition.

Speaker 3 (36:05):
Yeah, I like the Ravens a lot.

Speaker 4 (36:08):
I lost Patrick Queen.

Speaker 1 (36:09):
I like what they did even last year that I remember,
that's last year when Lamar went to San Francisco on
Christmas Night, that's when he won the MVP.

Speaker 3 (36:17):
You remember that.

Speaker 5 (36:17):
I mean, let me talk you into the AFC representative. Okay,
they're down in this big state that's asides of some countries,
and they're in a great city, the Houston Texans.

Speaker 3 (36:30):
Rob, I'm not I'm not buying it. I think that's
a pipe dream for you.

Speaker 5 (36:34):
Oh no, that did absolutely. I think the Miko Ryans
is one of the top up and coming coaches. I
think the addition of Daniel Hunter to that defensive front.

Speaker 1 (36:45):
I'll say that last year was more of a fluke
than it was, you know, just off of I'm dead serious.
Last year was out of nowhere, and I don't believe
they'll have the same results. Not that they'll be bad
or they'll be uh six and eleven or something like that,
fall off the map, but I don't believe they're going

(37:07):
to repeat that after coming in and the way people
know what to expect from them, where last year was
kind of different.

Speaker 3 (37:15):
So I don't believe in Houston in the AFC.

Speaker 4 (37:18):
I really.

Speaker 1 (37:19):
So you're saying they're going to beat Kansas City Chiefs. Yes, Okay,
what can we bet.

Speaker 3 (37:24):
Can we just bet? I want to what's that steakhouse
at the MG.

Speaker 4 (37:29):
Around and we can talk our way through it during
the season around.

Speaker 3 (37:32):
You're gonna be around. We already got you on that.

Speaker 7 (37:34):
That.

Speaker 3 (37:35):
That's no. I want to hear from your wallet.

Speaker 4 (37:38):
I want to know we can do that. You picked
the spot out, pay.

Speaker 3 (37:41):
The stake, the state, the steak place at MG.

Speaker 4 (37:44):
Let's go better overall record, Chiefs or Texans?

Speaker 3 (37:47):
Okay, all right, no, no, no, no, that's about you
can have them wanting to go in to the super Bowl.
It's about going to the super Bowl.

Speaker 1 (37:53):
What if the Chiefs don't make the super Bowl? No, no, no,
but no, but no, but you have that, you have
the right and you know you're beat. That is about
about the Texans. That's what the bet is. You have
the Texans going to the super Bowl.

Speaker 5 (38:05):
Stick behind it has a don't back out, that has
an extremely low expected No.

Speaker 4 (38:11):
Like this, I'll give you your field.

Speaker 3 (38:15):
I'll give you two steaks.

Speaker 4 (38:17):
You're getting the whole field.

Speaker 3 (38:18):
I'll give you a baked potato with extra butter.

Speaker 4 (38:20):
What do you want?

Speaker 1 (38:21):
You're getting the entire No, but that's because you're stepping
out there and you're saying.

Speaker 4 (38:26):
Because that's how strongly I feel about the Houston.

Speaker 5 (38:28):
Texas, So you shouldn't be afraid of it. Don't be afraid.
But I want you to have like a you know,
a dog in this fight.

Speaker 4 (38:34):
I'll give you. Just get fifteen teams and I got one.

Speaker 1 (38:37):
I just don't believe in them that they're going to
the super Bowl, just like I don't believe the line
got the Lions and the Texans the worst.

Speaker 5 (38:44):
That might be the WORSTFC Championship game. And I gotta
buy you food because yes.

Speaker 3 (38:49):
Yes, why are you What are you afraid of?

Speaker 5 (38:52):
Sewing is just to say anything, just to stay I've
lived in Vegas, so I've learned not to take bets
where I'm upside down from expectations.

Speaker 4 (39:00):
Their point.

Speaker 3 (39:01):
No, you know what, it's fine.

Speaker 1 (39:03):
All you gotta do is once you lose the bet
to me, you tell your kids no ice cream tonight.
You know, Uncle Rob's gotta be taking care of Take
the ice cream out of your kid's mouth.

Speaker 4 (39:13):
I don't care.

Speaker 5 (39:13):
Go Live from New Orleans come early February and throw
this segment back into your face.

Speaker 4 (39:18):
How about that?

Speaker 1 (39:19):
Wow?

Speaker 5 (39:21):
That could be Miko Ryans is one of the best
young coaches in football. You forgot he came from that
sustained success that occurred in San Francisco. And here's here's
what people don't understand about the Texans turnaround. They were
extremely competitive the second half of the season under Lovely Smith.
The win loss record doesne short, but if I agree
with that, I agree with the competitive.

Speaker 3 (39:43):
I agree with that.

Speaker 5 (39:44):
And to Miko came in and added a Rookie of
the year quarterback, which made Nico Collins blossom. He was
always that talented to just have anybody to give him
the ball. And now this year they asked Stefan Diggs,
if Tank Dell can stay healthy, to add upgraded running
back with Joe Mixon. They bringing Danielle Hunter from the
VIC and his double digit sacks to put opposite Will Anderson.

(40:04):
You know Derek Stingley, A lot of people laughed at
them drafting him ahead of Sauce Gardner, but if you
look at the last eighteen to twenty games, I mean,
Derek sting has been just as good in a lot
of ways as Sauce Gardner. They've got some really good
players there in Houston, and I don't think that division
is ultimately super tough, you got Indies, got a young
quarterback Tennessee, young quarterback Jacksonville. Whatever you think about Sunshine,

(40:28):
you think about him. But I'm not afraid of the Jaguars.
I like the way it sets up for Houston.

Speaker 1 (40:33):
Yeah, I'm not saying that they're not going to have
a good season. I just don't see them taking that
next step. And I have to see a second year.

Speaker 3 (40:40):
That's all.

Speaker 1 (40:41):
It's not if you're If you're right, i'm gonna give you.
I'm gonna give you plenty of credit. But if you're wrong,
trust me, I'm gonna go crazy on you. I'm gonna
go ham on you. Wrong has to have parameters. They
lose in the AFC Championship game, you were wrong? Come on,
just got like.

Speaker 4 (40:57):
That's not like them missing the playoffs.

Speaker 5 (40:58):
No, I'll come No, that would be what tail And
I'll acknowledge that for once, out of the probably two
hundred and fifty opinions I've had on football, I was wrong.

Speaker 1 (41:09):
Okay, and that's the only time you've been wrong, maybe
two and a half. Okay, you know what I'm saying.
All Right, I can't wait. Let's sens we trust. I
love that you're stepping out there on this, Okay, But
here we go. Can the Chiefs do it? Can they
win three Super Bowls in a row? Bill Belichick doesn't
think so, Sean and I really don't think so. Sean
does and he has the Texans?

Speaker 3 (41:31):
Who do you have? Do you have the Chiefs doing this?
And if not? Who do you like in the AFC?

Speaker 1 (41:35):
Because I like the Ravens, and the Ravens to me
might be like the Celtics and Jason Tatum where everybody says.

Speaker 3 (41:42):
Oh, Jason, damn Megah win the championship and and and
guess what he won. Sometimes you don't win until you win.
I like the Ravens in the AFC. Who do you like?
