Speaker 2 (00:22):
You're listening to the Best of the Odd Couple with
Chris Bruson and Ron Harker.

Speaker 3 (00:30):
I don't know what it is.

Speaker 1 (00:32):
I get the respect factor for Patrick Mahomes, and I
respect everything he's done in his career.

Speaker 3 (00:36):
He won three Super Bowls, two MVPs.

Speaker 1 (00:39):
I get all that, but Sean people have a hard
time saying that he's not playing well.

Speaker 3 (00:45):
He didn't play he didn't play that well.

Speaker 1 (00:47):
Last year during the regular season, won a Super Bowl,
so nobody talked about it. This year, he has more
interceptions than touchdowns six touchdowns in six games, which is bogle.
They're like last in red zone efficiency. Uh, just all
the numbers across the board. I get the injuries, I

(01:10):
get all the other stuff that's going on, but it's
still shocking that Daniel Jones has six touchdowns and three
interceptions and Patrick Mahomes has six touchdowns and eight interceptions,
and so they're playing the Raiders who are bad two
and five? Who was the player robb g Jack Jones,
the cornerback, and you remember they were the ones clowning

(01:34):
him before the season.

Speaker 3 (01:35):
You remember they.

Speaker 1 (01:35):
Had Patrick Mahomes of Patrick Mahomes doll remember that?

Speaker 4 (01:41):
What was that?

Speaker 3 (01:41):
What was that?

Speaker 1 (01:42):
He would They were doing the I can't remember the yeah, right,
but who is the puppet? Because he sounds like Kermit
the frog puppet because that's kind of his voice a
little bit. So they were making fun of him during
the off season and they said, basically, Jack Jones, nobody's
should be intimidated by this version of my home.

Speaker 3 (02:03):
I mean of Mahome did not intimidated. Listen to the sound, Sewan.
Does that kind of help your game? Just not having
that intimidation by a guy like Mahomes.

Speaker 4 (02:12):
I mean an intimidated biom.

Speaker 5 (02:14):
I mean, I don't think nobody in this locker uminatividata
biob I mean it's good players all across the league.
Here a good player, so you know, we see guys
every week, you know what I'm saying.

Speaker 4 (02:24):
So, I mean we're not.

Speaker 5 (02:25):
Really focused on us more than we are about him.

Speaker 1 (02:28):
You know what I'm saying, Uh, Sean, Obviously you're a
player in the NFL. You're not gonna be like, oh yeah,
we're scared of the death of a quarterback. You don't
that's not you don't make it to the NFL feeling
like you can't compete right or beat somebody.

Speaker 3 (02:43):
So I get all that.

Speaker 1 (02:45):
All I'm saying is this virgin and what's happened this year?
I know they're six and zero. The defense is played
very well, but he has not played well. What Kim
you acknowledge that or what is? Why are people it's
not a Lifetime Achievement award When we say he's not
playing well, we're talking about they're here now. You want

(03:07):
to use reasons why Last year is because everybody dropped
the ball. They used that excuse, right. This year is
because everybody's injured. But when Rice was in there for
those what four games, he still had four picks, So
people say.

Speaker 3 (03:21):
Well, you don't have nobody to throw, Well he threw
four picks.

Speaker 1 (03:24):
Then what do you make of Patrick Mahomes and where
he is and what's happened?

Speaker 6 (03:28):
I think it's as good as it's ever been. I'm
not really sure what size television you're watching these games on, but.

Speaker 3 (03:35):
What are you talking about? Look at the stats.

Speaker 6 (03:37):
Get in the head clear version. You don't have to
have the TV with the two knobs. Now, put the
top knob on you and then the other one.

Speaker 2 (03:44):
Doctor.

Speaker 6 (03:46):
Here's here's the number that you're overlooking. The sixty seven
point nine percent completion percentage is the highest ever in
Patrick Mahomes's career. So he's completing more balls at a
rate high than he ever had. Right, that's the whole issue,
regardless of he's throwing them. The Chiefs like, here's the issue.

Speaker 3 (04:08):
No, he's not.

Speaker 1 (04:09):
He has eight interceptions that lead the league. He has
eight interceptions. You can't ignore that job.

Speaker 6 (04:15):
In spite of those eight bad throws, he's still completing
sixty seven percent. And I'm not a numbers guy. When
you watch the take, what's happened in Kansas City? Is
this the allocation of resources has been adjusted? Look at
their top six highest paid guys. Rob of course Mahomes
has won. But then you got two offensive lineen, a
defensive linean in a safety mixed in with the over
the hill Travis Kelcey.

Speaker 4 (04:36):
They put their money into the two fronts.

Speaker 6 (04:38):
They said, Patrick, for at least a year and a half,
two years, gonna need you to manage the game and
then be great when it matters the most, which he
has done. I remember they did take the ball down
and win the Super Bowl because of the way Mahomes played.
So when he's had to be great, he's been great.
Andy Reid has a different team this year. They're winning
in a different way. They're playing defense, they're running the
ball with Kareem Hunt, Patrick, Travis Kelsey. Can we agree

(04:59):
he's a not necessarily washed up, but he's not the
prime Travis Kelsey as far as being the run away
from people and make explosive plays. And with Hollywood Brown
and Rashiet Writes being out, they don't have explosive playmakers.

Speaker 1 (05:12):
So how do you explain in the AFC Championship Game
last year they got shut out in the second half.

Speaker 4 (05:18):
It happens you're playing the other best team from your conference.

Speaker 1 (05:22):
All right, let's go here, okay, And I'm gonna just
give you something because nothing's wrong with my television set.

Speaker 4 (05:28):
All right, I think it's broke.

Speaker 3 (05:29):
Mahomes and Peyton Manning.

Speaker 1 (05:31):
Peyton Manning in twenty fifteen are the only quarterbacks in
the last thirty years the last three zero years to
throw more interceptions and touchdowns while leading their team to
a six and oh start. That was a thirty nine
year old Manning had seven touchdowns and ten interceptions in

(05:52):
his six and oh start, a season that featured him
eventually right getting bench for brock Oswaller, and he ended
up with winning the Super Bowl with his defense, which
Patrick Mahomes has a really good defense as well. My
point is, my point is you can't sit here and
act like nothing's happened to Patrick Mahomes or he's not

(06:14):
or he's just playing the same or I'm just gonna
look at his completion percentage and not.

Speaker 3 (06:19):
And here's the other thing that people kill me with.

Speaker 1 (06:22):
Well, you know that interception was it his There have
been plenty of balls that Patrick Mahomes has thrown to
people that they've dropped, and they don't keep a stat
or they don't talk about how many potential interview interceptions
there there could have been. Matthew Stafford in the Super
Bowl threw a ball right to a defender and people
don't talk about that, like do they count that stat?

Speaker 4 (06:44):
Let me ask you a question.

Speaker 6 (06:46):
Do the Chiefs have a skill player right now available
who you think is in the top five of their position?

Speaker 3 (06:50):
Now, it doesn't matter.

Speaker 1 (06:51):
I've always been told that Patrick Mahomes is that great
that he makes.

Speaker 4 (06:55):
The people around a couple.

Speaker 1 (07:00):
Patrick Mahomes, though, you tell yourself, that's why, kidd of yourself.

Speaker 6 (07:04):
Your opinion is based in quick saying it's going to
sink and you're not gonna be able to re elevate yourself. Listen,
they're undefeated without all these guys batch of Mahomes. Every
three or three.

Speaker 1 (07:15):
I saw, I saw the Pittsburgh Steelers go ten and
o or nine and oh a few years ago.

Speaker 3 (07:20):
It was the worst ten and o team I ever saw.

Speaker 4 (07:23):
You don't watch You don't watch the Chiefs and think
they're bad.

Speaker 1 (07:25):
They went to the playoffs. You remember that they were
nine or ten and oh. They started the year and
then they went to the playoffs right against Baker Mayfield
the Browns and got annihilated.

Speaker 3 (07:35):
You remember that when that year.

Speaker 4 (07:37):
When I know, and I know I felt when I
watched that Steelers team, What do you.

Speaker 3 (07:40):
Think back then when they were winning all those games?

Speaker 6 (07:42):
I said, whether they have major deficiencs. They're gonna show
up when you watch the Chiefs right now. You know
what you think? Man, they're damn good team. Any re
got these boys winning. Imagine when they do I don't know, no,
Imagine when they get Hollywood Brown and Rashi Rice and
now they added DeAndre Hopkins to this mix, and they're
gonna get a check go back. Imagine when they get
all these guys back. Ron, Now you thought about in

(08:05):
the flat. It's not to Justin Watson A Noah Noah?
Who is no Jonah? I forget Noah's name. Sorry, bro,
you're throwing it to it, she writes. Now you're throwing
it to Hollywood Brown. Now that makes a difference.

Speaker 1 (08:18):
Patrick. Has Patrick Mahomes played well this season?

Speaker 4 (08:22):
Yes?

Speaker 3 (08:22):
Yes?

Speaker 4 (08:23):
Or no? Yes?

Speaker 7 (08:24):
Okay?

Speaker 3 (08:24):
The conversations conversation.

Speaker 6 (08:27):
Because you don't know quarterback play, no quarterbacks. You know
football just a little bit. You don't know quarterback play.

Speaker 3 (08:33):
You don't know quarterback playing.

Speaker 1 (08:35):
And I'm gonna show you that later on when we
talked in our number three.

Speaker 3 (08:39):
I know you played in this league. I know you
played in the league. There, I'm gonna tell you something.

Speaker 6 (08:44):
Guys in the National Football League, right now, who would
not trade their current starter for Patrick mas.

Speaker 3 (08:49):
That's not the act, that's not the gu No, you
said the question. You said, well, now is he playing?

Speaker 4 (08:56):
Yes, you said, is he livingly past?

Speaker 1 (08:59):
And we had Greg Jennings, who played in the National
Football League, who won a Super Bowl, played with Aaron Rodgers,
sat and across from us and told us that Daniel
Jones was a top ten quarterback.

Speaker 3 (09:12):
Okay, so you can sit here.

Speaker 1 (09:16):
Now years ago, yes he did. Okay, No, My point
is he played in the league, played with Aaron Rogers,
probably won a Super Bowl.

Speaker 3 (09:29):
He came back.

Speaker 1 (09:29):
Now now it's like Daniel Jones is dead to him.
But I'm just trying to tell you I'm not buying
that because you played in the league or because you're
the quarterback.

Speaker 3 (09:38):
I'm just saying it. And the same thing when Chris,
we'll do that.

Speaker 1 (09:44):
Chris and I jumped on Greg Jennings for that at
that time, the same we did because we were like, dude,
what are you watching?

Speaker 3 (09:52):
And we know we respect your ability that you.

Speaker 1 (09:55):
Played and you have that over me, But I don't
see the same Patrick Mahomes.

Speaker 6 (10:00):
This offseason, Daniel Jones got paid it through a fifteen
touchdown passes that regular season and got one hundred plus
million dollars.

Speaker 3 (10:06):
I know he had fifteen TOUCHDOUNSD seventeen games, right.

Speaker 4 (10:09):
Right, So I mean, I don't know what Greg was
talking about.

Speaker 2 (10:12):

Speaker 1 (10:24):
And Sean King in for Calvin Washington and guess what, Seawn,
we have a microwave take from time to reheat, an
old hon take that's gone cold on.

Speaker 7 (10:34):
The outside, iced to go in the metal.

Speaker 6 (10:36):
It's microwave take with the on cup of There's a
glaring deficiency that Caleb has that he has to fix.

Speaker 4 (10:44):
I don't think he sees the field well.

Speaker 6 (10:46):
When you watch Caleb Williams play rop you never see
him or very rarely do you see him in the
pocket in.

Speaker 4 (10:52):
Rhythm, deliver the football on time.

Speaker 6 (10:55):
Almost all of his highlight plays, almost all of his
broken are broken plays.

Speaker 3 (11:03):
So Caleb Williams people were.

Speaker 4 (11:05):
Context that was before the season started.

Speaker 1 (11:07):
People were dumping on him after the first couple of games.
You look, even though the offensive line couldn't do anything
I mean he didn't look great or whatever. He's played
really well the last three games. Sean King, take back
your take on Caleb Williams and just admit that, even
though you played in the NFL and you were a
quarterback and you're a quarterback guru, you got it wrong

(11:28):
when it comes to Caleb Williams.

Speaker 6 (11:30):
Absolutely not. Fix and fail are not the same word.
They don't mean the same thing. I said he has
to get it fixed. After the first two games of
the season against two really good defenses, and the Titans
and the Texans. What was everybody saying exactly what I
was saying before it happened. Now Chicago has fortunately played
two CFL teams the last two weeks.

Speaker 3 (11:49):
Oh that, look at that.

Speaker 1 (11:51):
No, no, no, no, But you don't do that with
Patrick Mahomes beat bad teams.

Speaker 3 (11:56):
You don't do that when other quarterbacks be bad teams. Stoping.

Speaker 1 (12:00):
Tom Brady won six games every year playing the AFC
lease and nobody discredited his wins.

Speaker 6 (12:07):
See, your grandmother used to tell you, let that man
top baby, stop being rude.

Speaker 4 (12:10):
Because you're being rude. You're cutting me off.

Speaker 3 (12:12):
All right, I'm sitting back the last two weeks.

Speaker 6 (12:15):
Okay, They've played what could be the worst two teams
in football if we look at the Panthers and specifically
the Jaguars with their preseason expectations. Here's why I'm not
gonna say it's completely fixed. Their schedule is getting tougher.
They still have not played anyone in their division, and
right now you could argue that the NFC North is

(12:36):
the best division in football. Their last eight games of
the season, rob six of those games are against the Packers, Lions,
and Vikings, with a game against the Niners and Seahawks
mixed in. So I'm not a guy that's gonna say
the close the drive when they only came out of
the washing machine, Like I know, they still have to
go through the dryer.

Speaker 4 (12:55):
I wait to the whole process.

Speaker 3 (12:56):
He said Pinnix over him too. You still are that?

Speaker 4 (12:59):
Yes, I am.

Speaker 6 (13:00):
And when Pennix gets a chance to play, Based on
Week one, I thought it was gonna be sooner than later.
But Kirk has kind of rited this ship a little
bit down there in Atlanta, coming off a five hundred
yard game a couple of weeks ago against the Bucks.
It may be long before Pennick plays, but you'll see
it when it happens. Listen, Caleb is getting better. I've
always thought he would improve. I want to see if
he's fixed it, but I can't tell. Until we play
an elite level team. We'll see.

Speaker 1 (13:20):
You say, Stills glaring deficiency. Still would you use that
term glaring deficiencies? He can't see the field, he doesn't
know who to throw. Is he still there?

Speaker 4 (13:31):
He looks like he's improving.

Speaker 6 (13:32):
He looks like as he learns that offense, as he
learns those receivers, they get everybody healthy.

Speaker 4 (13:37):
They look like they're getting better every week.

Speaker 6 (13:40):
The only cariot I pick is everybody looks like that
against the Panthers and the Jacks.

Speaker 1 (13:44):
Could Peyton Manning when he threw twenty eight interceptions his
first year, could he see the field or no?

Speaker 3 (13:49):
What was he just throwing the ball up? What was
he doing?

Speaker 6 (13:51):
I think that was more speed of the game than
anything else. But I never said KYLEB. Williams will fail.
I said Jaden Damson's back.

Speaker 3 (13:58):
You just didn't sound like you liked him, and I
don't like him.

Speaker 1 (14:03):
Just what I was doing with declaring deficiency and what
he has.

Speaker 6 (14:08):
After week two. If I would have been co hosting
because you couldn't say anything else out You would have
been like, Sean, you are exactly wrong. I would not
have after the entire after two games after Texas, Sean.

Speaker 3 (14:23):
Sean, he's going to be a good quarterback. Absolutely, there's
no doubt in my mind.

Speaker 4 (14:31):
Say anything.

Speaker 1 (14:32):
People, even Bill Belichick had stuff to say about his preseason.
I haven't heard from Bill Belichick. All he does now
is trash the Patriots because it's easy. That's all he does.

Speaker 6 (14:42):
You've never heard me say Kena. Williams wasn't going to
be a good player because he's too talented. He'll eventually
get it figured out. Has he figured it out yet?
I don't know yet. We'll find out.

Speaker 1 (14:50):
Moving ahead eight seven, seven ninety nine on Fox. Are
you're letting Sean King off that easily? Because I'm not.
I think he swung and miss on his evaluation of
Caleb Williams. Where are you or is he right? Or
do you feel like he's right? Because he played bad teams?
I just never heard anybody Tom Brady played the AFC

(15:13):
least for fifteen years. They had six wins every year
against the Jets and the Dolphins and all these bad
teams and the Bills, and nobody ever said, oh, well,
Tom Brady, of course he's winning all these games.

Speaker 3 (15:27):
He not playing anybody, nobody, I don't know.

Speaker 1 (15:30):
And the first thing out of your mouth is, well,
he's playing bad team.

Speaker 6 (15:34):
I don't know how your great test, but if anything,
you could say incomplete, even if he had still been
underperforming like he did the first two weeks, I still
would give him the grace to play out his full
rookie year.

Speaker 1 (15:44):
But Rob g donet, he have three three hundred yard games.
I think the first rookie for the Bears ever do
anything like that. I mean, he's doing stuff. And granted
they throw the ball more, and.

Speaker 6 (15:54):
Then who's the next best Bears quarterback in history.

Speaker 2 (15:58):

Speaker 9 (16:46):

Speaker 3 (16:50):
Thank you. I appreciate that.

Speaker 1 (16:53):
Oh my gosh, he's down with the Kings all right, guys,
in honor of the Thursday night football.

Speaker 7 (16:59):
But between the ax and.

Speaker 1 (17:01):
The thought I was the radio talk show Kings, we
have to guess.

Speaker 8 (17:07):
All of these questions are vikings or rams? For lady,
you know the rules by reminding if you're listening at home,
it's got to be a real word, no rhyming.

Speaker 7 (17:16):
It's got to be in English.

Speaker 3 (17:18):
That's right, no.

Speaker 4 (17:19):
Kind of nervous. This is my first time doing this.
Is that right?

Speaker 8 (17:22):
You've done it before. I'm almost positive you've done it before.
I haven't because you filled in like for weeks on ends.
I'm almost positive you've done it. Let's Alex, you said
he wouldn't.

Speaker 3 (17:32):
Let's do it anyway. That's good because you're going to
get trashed.

Speaker 8 (17:34):
You're you're lucky because we flipped the coin during Steve's
update and Rob gets question number one.

Speaker 3 (17:38):
That's what we do here. I'm the king. I'm the
pooh Pool King.

Speaker 7 (17:42):
Here we go.

Speaker 3 (17:43):
You could be the king, Sean, I'm the pooh Pool kid. Again,
I'm the poo Pool kid.

Speaker 7 (17:47):
One word clue. You gotta help Alex guess the correct answer.

Speaker 3 (17:50):
Rob, Alex, how are you?

Speaker 4 (17:52):
My man?

Speaker 3 (17:52):
Let's go.

Speaker 8 (17:53):
Despite playing in both Los Angeles and Saint Louis, which
are hundreds of miles apart, have always played in the
NFC Blank Division since the seventies.

Speaker 3 (18:08):
All right, uh, there we go, Alex. You ready, my man?

Speaker 9 (18:12):
Rob, thank you so much for asking. All Right, here
we go. How are you?

Speaker 4 (18:15):
Rob?

Speaker 3 (18:15):
I'm doing great?

Speaker 9 (18:18):
East West? Yeah, that is correct.

Speaker 8 (18:23):
Ten Parker, Sean, that's how you do it, all right, Sean.

Speaker 7 (18:27):
You feel like you gotta hang in this one.

Speaker 4 (18:29):
Yeah, this is easy.

Speaker 3 (18:31):
Level number two.

Speaker 8 (18:32):
You got to help Ballece gets the right answer. Before
every game, a man in a Vikings Jersey regalia, helmet,
whatever you want to call it, blows into a giant
blank and the fans in Minnesota yell out.

Speaker 4 (18:46):
School, jeez, you play it. You play it, no.

Speaker 8 (18:53):
One word, one word clip. He's never done it, Rob,
one word clip. I play it, Alex.

Speaker 3 (19:02):
Don't listen to the first.

Speaker 4 (19:06):
Read it for him again. Yeah.

Speaker 8 (19:07):
Before every game, a guy in the Vikings Jersey blows
into a giant blank and fans yell out skull, it's.

Speaker 9 (19:14):
Gonna be a horn, right, nice?

Speaker 8 (19:20):
All right, here we go, level numbers. We're gonna say, candy,
that's horn corn. Okay, I'm okay, level number three?

Speaker 2 (19:29):
All up?

Speaker 7 (19:30):
Ten points apiece. Rob.

Speaker 8 (19:32):
In the sixties and seventies, the Vikings that one of
the best defensive lines.

Speaker 7 (19:35):
Of all time. They call the blank people eaters.

Speaker 9 (19:41):
Oh geez, people eaters.

Speaker 3 (19:42):
Here we go. Are you ready?

Speaker 9 (19:45):
Thank you for asking? Sean didn't ask me, so I'm
ready now, Thank you?

Speaker 3 (19:48):
All right, Alex? Yes, rain.

Speaker 4 (19:56):
Rain.

Speaker 9 (19:59):
What are you trying to say say with rain? Rob? Oh,
you're funny, are you?

Speaker 6 (20:06):
I know what he's trying to say, but he's not
doing a good job of expressing it.

Speaker 9 (20:10):
Nice's not at all at all.

Speaker 4 (20:12):
Oh, Rob.

Speaker 9 (20:14):
It's sad because I think I know what it is now,
but I'm kind of upset that you didn't give you
a good enough breakdown there because you're in studios, I'll
be more than just picking up glasses. It's purple, is it?

Speaker 3 (20:26):
Yeah?

Speaker 9 (20:26):
Funny?

Speaker 5 (20:28):
Yes?

Speaker 4 (20:29):
Why did you take your glasses off?

Speaker 8 (20:31):
Like?

Speaker 3 (20:31):

to beat me the first time you play this game.

Speaker 4 (20:42):
Who's hurt?

Speaker 3 (20:42):
