Speaker 2 (00:19):
You're listening to the best of the Odd Couple.

Speaker 3 (00:25):
As we've talked about at nauseum, now since the start
of rookie Mini camp in the full training camp, Shador
Sanders has been the talk of the town in Cleveland
during all fats his camp because he has been, without
a doubt, been performing statistically as the best quarterback there
in camp, both in mini camp and here in training camp.
The only problem is something that Rob Parker has harped

(00:45):
on at nauseum, is that he still is the only
quarterback in rookie camp and here in training camp who
has not gotten a single rep with the first string
Browns offense. So late last week, Schador told reporters in Cleveland,
you know, I don't really don't want to have my
dad here in camp.

Speaker 4 (01:05):
You know, he's doing some stuff right now.

Speaker 3 (01:06):
He's got his own fish to fry over there in
Boulder today, he was pressed to get about it again, asked,
why is it specifically that you do not want to
see your dad here on the sidelines at Cleveland training camp.

Speaker 4 (01:19):
Here's what you dory to say.

Speaker 5 (01:20):
I don't want him coming to see me right now
because I want to get to where I want to
go in for him to see me, I don't want
him to come and see me. You know, get a
couple of reptions. You know, he's seering like a good dad, Like, nah,
you can't be proud of me right now. I got
to get to where I'm going, and I know it's
a lot I got to do to get there. So
it's kind of like I just want everything that I'm
doing is just like focus on this time, and I

(01:42):
don't want to know distractions because.

Speaker 4 (01:44):
We know out of media, we know how everybody.

Speaker 5 (01:46):
Would take it and take away from the team just
from him being my own dad showing up. So you know,
it's a gift and a curse at the same time.

Speaker 6 (01:58):
All Right, Kerry, Uh, I'm gonna say this, Shador Sanders
sounds like a cop, you know how, because basically he's saying,
nothing to see here, keep it moving. There's nothing to
see here. You heard the cops before. They've shoot you

(02:20):
away or shooed you away from a situation or a circumstance.

Speaker 4 (02:24):
Keep it moving. Nothing to see here.

Speaker 6 (02:26):
And he's absolutely right, there is nothing to see because
the Cleveland Browns have refused, for whatever reason, which I
think is obvious now, to give him first team reps.

Speaker 4 (02:39):
Like Carrie, you played in the National Football League.

Speaker 6 (02:46):
When they have decided that everybody else, how are you
in a football quarterback competition with four guys. The other
three guys have gotten first team reps and you've gotten
zero mini camp and now here we are in training camp.
So the Browns can say whatever they want, but they've

(03:08):
said what I think is obvious. He has a great
chance of being cut and not being on his team.
It doesn't make any sense. It's practice carry you know this.
What is the harm on getting the guy a few
reps with the first team?

Speaker 4 (03:27):
What is the harm?

Speaker 6 (03:29):
And he better be lighting it up all these chadorf sanders, flackies, flunkys, fans.

Speaker 4 (03:36):
Whatever you want to call him. Look at these numbers.
You have the better numbers your camp, or look how
goodye please? He better have the best numbers against the
third and four strings.

Speaker 6 (03:45):
And guys who are gonna be working at mobile gas
station at other places.

Speaker 4 (03:49):
If you don't have the numbers against them, what them didn't?
You have no shot?

Speaker 6 (03:53):
So you should be at least shining against the people
still trying on the bubble, trying to make it carry.

Speaker 4 (04:01):
All I'm saying is Buffalo, I mean Buffalo.

Speaker 6 (04:06):
Cleveland can say there's a quarterback competition. I don't see
it involving Shador Sanders. I just don't see it because
it doesn't cost you anything to put the kid out there.
And I'm gonna give you two reasons why I still
don't believe he's gonna be on this team. I don't
care what you invested. I don't care if you traded

(04:28):
for Kenny Pickett. I don't care about Joe Flacco's championship.
I don't care about Dylan Gabriel was drafted in the
third round. I don't care about any of that. Because
when Russell Wilson showed up to Seattle after they played
Matt Flynn, do you remember that a ton of money
he showed up?

Speaker 4 (04:48):
What did Pete Carroll do?

Speaker 6 (04:49):
Oh no, oh no, no no, We'll just have to
eat the money and that kid's playing. Okay, stop number two.
Tom Brady's your mentor. He don't believe in you. Carrie,
you're the Raiders. Don't tell me about Geno Smith. Oh
my god, well they already have Gino Smith is fine

(05:11):
for now long term if Tom Brady, who was a
sixth round pick, not a fifth, a sixth round pick,
anybody's supposed to be like sympathetic and understand what could
happen with it's Tom Brady. You're working out with the kid,
you're his mentor, you've seen him, you know his desire,

(05:33):
you know what he's done. And the Raiders have plenty
of picks, and they decided to pass on Shador.

Speaker 4 (05:40):
Not hate. I'm just reading the tea leaves, That's all
I'm say. No, I mean, you're right.

Speaker 7 (05:46):
The best player eventually is going to get those reps
and be the starter.

Speaker 4 (05:51):
Right.

Speaker 7 (05:51):
That's how it works in Lead. That's how it works.
It doesn't matter where you are. I was a fourth
round pick and started from day one. I mean, that's
just how it is. And it was better than those
other guys. Weren't fun of you exactly. So it's like
the competition part of it I understand, and what you
just you made a great point of Yes, his numbers
and the stats should be better than the starters. They're
playing against the first defense and he's playing against the

(06:13):
second or third or what fourth defense in that part.
So even like I'm gonna bring it back to me,
then I'm gonna go back to him. So like as
a as a fourth round pick, go in, you go
into the first preseason game and you're playing against preseason guys.
You're not playing against the starters. I'm running around thinking,
this is this is easy. I'm meant to be here,
this is what I do. I run this show. And
then we get the week one against Kansas City against

(06:33):
the against the real deal. Oh coach, So I am
I still starting next week. That's how I fight. And
so for Shador, for him, he just got to keep
his head down and work and keep doing what he
has to do. Like you said, I mean, it's so
many quarterbacks. Obviously somebody's has to be the odd person out,
and you know they're not taking four quarterbacks.

Speaker 4 (06:52):
Come on, no, no, no.

Speaker 6 (06:53):
I'm not gonna say right, it doesn't make any sense.
You can't eat up a roster spot for a guy
who not going to see the field.

Speaker 7 (07:01):
Yeah, I mean the only thing I could see that
could keep him there would be the practice squad, which
I'm sure he wouldn't want to be a part of.
So you know, if he's a practice squad guy, he's
not on the active roster, so they can still keep
him as that point, but.

Speaker 6 (07:11):
He wouldn't be and you wouldn't be an NFL player
right until you play, until you play, am I right,
Like you're not in the league. There are guys who
are but on practice. Yeah, until you play in a
real NFL game exactly.

Speaker 7 (07:24):
Yeah, yeah, yeah, but you can also see the disconnector, right,
Jimmy HASLM. The owner already said that that wasn't this guy.
So that was interesting, Yeah, because if the owner says that,
then you already know and we know this most of
the time, the owner of the GM and the quarterback
is all connected. Right, If you're going to invest in
the GM, you want that GM to invest in the quarterback,
and that chain of command, that chain of operation is

(07:46):
one that should be a solid footing.

Speaker 6 (07:48):
Jimmy had no problem telling you when he got Shawn
watch it exactly, that was his guy, blew up in
his face, and that's my point. Yeah, But but here
he's like, oh no, I had nothing to do with this.

Speaker 7 (07:58):
One hundred percent, So he's already remove themselves from the equation, right.
And then the other part of it is the comments
that your door said the only thing there was two
things I thought when he first said it. At first,
when he said it not today or yesterday, whenever that
sound was, I think he was protecting his dad. So
his dad was going through things and the media didn't

(08:19):
know about it. The world didn't know about it, so
I think he was covering that up. But this second comment,
he's right, like, I have not done anything and my
dad doesn't want to be here. But when you unveil that,
all he's saying is, you guys already think I'm a distraction.
So if I bring my dad and he comes in
and he piles on top of that, the media is
gonna run with it. So I think that's the other part,

(08:40):
the other layer of that. It's not about him not
being getting reps. It's about the clown show that comes
along with it. And that's the reason why it's pretty obvious.

Speaker 6 (08:50):
If you're not going to make your door your quarterback
and that you don't want him around. And it's not
just him, because nobody wanted Tim Tebow around, where every
conversation everything is about Tim t Is he going to
get the quarterback?

Speaker 4 (09:08):
Those two?

Speaker 6 (09:08):
Is Tebow going to get in? Did you think about
putting t Bow in in the second half?

Speaker 4 (09:13):
Right?

Speaker 6 (09:13):
And there's reporters around his locker every day, you know, like,
that's not what you want.

Speaker 7 (09:19):
And that's what you just And that's one hundred percent correct.
If the quarterback, that's the guy, he's going to get attention,
that's inherent, right. But if the fourth string guys are
getting the same questions that that first string guy would
have gotten, it's such a distraction in general.

Speaker 6 (09:35):
I agree, and that's why I think people got too
caught up. There were only three or four teams really
looking for a quarterback, so that was one thing. So
when oh, he got passed over by all these teams, No,
they weren't looking for quarterbacks, so it looks worse than
it really is. And then the ones who were they
didn't really want if he wasn't going to be You
saw the Giants move up.

Speaker 4 (09:54):
You saw who else moved up to take a quarterback?

Speaker 6 (09:59):
Somebody else thinks Saints and yeah, you know, like they
moved up so they had somebody who they really wanted
and they went after him.

Speaker 4 (10:06):
And I'm with you. People can make all the excuses,
and they are.

Speaker 6 (10:10):
They're trying to they're trying to put him in his place, Like, no,
this is the NFL where GM's and coaches are trying
to keep their gigs and trying to win games. And
I just want nobody can can dispute my Matt Flynn
take because it's real. And they had something invested, they
had money and everything. And he had set the record

(10:31):
for touchdowns in the game by by a Packer's quarterback
and bart start, I mean, uh yeah, all those great
quarterbacks who played there, right yep. And he had the
record and when he got to Seattle, they were like, oh,
oh wait a minute, that kid right there. Yeah, yeah,
he's got something.

Speaker 4 (10:46):
He got something. And that's how it is. That's how
it is.

Speaker 2 (10:49):

Speaker 6 (11:00):
Over the weekend, Luka Doncic signed the one hundred and
sixty five million dollar contra extension. Yeah, but you know
what it wasn't the three fifty that was he would
have got had to stay with Dallas, And I know
that Robb Gi explained it to me the you know,
Homer Lakers fan.

Speaker 4 (11:20):
Oh my goodness.

Speaker 6 (11:21):
Well, I'm just saying that, you know, him signing this
will allow him to sign maybe a four hundred and seventy,
but that's three years from now. Down the road, he
can sign more. But he was up for three fifties.
So you can't tell me he was up for three
fifteen right night, right now, and he still could have
signed another contract, but he's up for three fifty anyway,
Robb guh.

Speaker 4 (11:41):
Luca had stuff to say.

Speaker 3 (11:42):
He had a lot to say, you know, the big
as much as what I had. The big headline other
than the money coming into this weekend was Luca went
from looking like me to look like Kerry Rose.

Speaker 4 (11:51):
He just he just took us. Well, he had money.
He had the Olympic money. Think you think do you
think is that? I mean it was, but they said
on the airline, let's just say it.

Speaker 3 (12:01):
I'm saying allegedly, say allegedly, I gotta recovered exactly what
I'm saying allegedly there, but it was fast.

Speaker 7 (12:08):
You see how quick that turnaround he had. He had cuts, yeah, try,
I saw triceps.

Speaker 6 (12:12):
But said that people down there in Dallas said that
this he's done this before, like he's in shape actually
after the season.

Speaker 7 (12:22):
Yeah right, he played because you're and he plays his
way into shape during the season. But he's not afforded
that luxury anymore. I think he's been called out on
it now, so he have to.

Speaker 4 (12:31):
Has to be.

Speaker 6 (12:32):
I always said, he's a twenty five year old with
a thirty five year old body.

Speaker 3 (12:35):
Thirty five, yeah, forty five, fifty okay, you know what
also says they say that he gets in shape in
Slovenia and then he comes back to Texas and he gains.

Speaker 4 (12:43):
It all back. That's probably the food. They're so bad
down there, but in any event, bad in a good way.

Speaker 3 (12:49):
The big story of course coming in with hey man,
this guy's in shape. He looks ready to rock, his
ready to roll Lakers dark horse championship contender. So during
his media availability over the weekend, he was asked about
his look and what his expectations are for himself and
the team next season.

Speaker 4 (13:04):
Nicholas look good to see.

Speaker 8 (13:06):
Congratulations. You mentioned in kind of the post you put
out on social media championships being important to you. Here
you guys lost in the first round. You look like
a different person since then. What do you feel like
you're going to bring to that championship pursuit next year
and how do you feel like the team is constructed
to try to achieve that goal.

Speaker 4 (13:27):
Yeah, honestly, I think we have a great team. We
have what we need to compete for the championship.

Speaker 6 (13:32):
The only good thing is he's not like Lebron who's
making always make excuses and we don't have enough and
you know, like always putting out there so that when
things don't go well, Yeah, he's able.

Speaker 4 (13:44):
I got something.

Speaker 6 (13:44):
I have a coverard, you know what I mean, because
I already put out there that we need more.

Speaker 4 (13:48):
But I got to say this, what is he Slovenia?
Where's he from Slovenia?

Speaker 6 (13:53):
Yeah, so I don't know the translation of his name
and Luka Doncic or nad and Doncic or the breakdown,
but I think it also must in English stand for delusional,
because the idea, the idea that he thinks that they're championship,
like they got knocked out in the first round last year.

(14:13):
And I'm Lebron's older and I know they picked up
a couple pieces, rob G, but nobody earth shattering and
not at smart right. And the other thing is, look
at what Denver did, Like Denver really got better, obviously, OKC.
Houston got better. Like you start to look at some
of the other teams, younger better, right, Uh, they're better.

(14:36):
And I still can't see them as a top four
team when I think about the West, even with Luca,
Like people I remember last year Carry people were going
crazy over oh Luca Lebron, ain't nobody out west? Who
are you afraid of? I take those two over anybody?

Speaker 4 (14:55):
Rob G. People will say that.

Speaker 6 (14:57):
Oh am, I right, I take those two over the
who out West? Scares you? I scared? Okay? See, I
ain't scared of it?

Speaker 1 (15:05):
Is.

Speaker 6 (15:05):
I get they got knocked out the first round by
Minnesota first round and it was.

Speaker 4 (15:10):
Not particularly close, thank you. It was not close.

Speaker 6 (15:13):
And my point is having Luca and trying to build
from him five where's his other star? Okay?

Speaker 7 (15:24):
And I know people are gonna say say that I'll
carry go ahead, all right, go ahead, go I'm gonna
say it, go ahead, finish it.

Speaker 4 (15:30):
I'm looking the way while you do this.

Speaker 6 (15:31):
Cause Lebron while he puts up the numbers, rob G
has it. He's a Laker fan. The plus minus rob
G like he's it's easy to score in the NBA. Yeah,
he doesn't defend at all. And that's the issue. Like
people think that is what is he rob G twenty five,

(15:53):
five and seven or whatever he put it in somewhere
right somewhere aroun there, Lebron's number right somewhere around there.
Those aren't legit. Those aren't the same numbers he had
seven years ago when he was also playing on the
defensive end and he was doing something.

Speaker 4 (16:11):
It's easy to score in this league. All the players
say it it really because.

Speaker 6 (16:15):
You can't really defend. But my only point is they
aren't the same numbers. And that's why you could look
at those two and people thought so many NBA people
picked them to go to the Western Conference finals this year.
Yeah this past year, you know what I mean, once
Luca got there and for them to get knocked out

(16:36):
in the first round easily by Minnesota. Like you start
looking at the top four or five teams out West,
we didn't even mention Minnesota, it's been to the Western
Conference Finals twice.

Speaker 4 (16:46):
We didn't mention the.

Speaker 6 (16:47):
Clippers, Dallaus either or Dallas. There's like six teams, I know,
Rob g don't get mad. There's at least five or
six teams I would put ahead of the Lakers, even
with Lebron at age forty one and Luca.

Speaker 7 (17:00):
I think it's fair to say I put three teams
ahead of the Lakers right now, right just off of
what I think. Houston, Oka, See and Minnesota just went there, right,
So I mean I would say them right now.

Speaker 4 (17:12):
You know, like Denver, that that's I said those three.
I'm at the Denver.

Speaker 7 (17:15):
So then it's Denver, Denver, Dallas and that that next
tier with the Lakers, I think. But you're talking about
Luka Dantic I'm a fan. I've seen him play in Dallas,
even when he was not in shape. Right, he took
a team full of guys that nobody would know to
the Western Conference finals. Now he has Lebron, he has Marcus,
smart guys who have finals you know finals, Uh, they've

(17:39):
been there before, they've been there, they've been there, right,
So he has a team and with an inspired Luca,
A dedicated Luca.

Speaker 4 (17:46):
They definitely have a shot. Are you sure.

Speaker 6 (17:49):
He's dedicated, always dedicated and got in shape to get
his contract Like like, no, I think he's dedicated. That's
when somebody so scares me because he was so You
don't get rid of a talent like that. It wasn't
a basketball trade. You know this, ca Okay, anybody watching
I've been covering the league since nineteen eighty seven, anybody

(18:10):
just watching basketball.

Speaker 4 (18:12):
That's not a basketball trade. Luka, Doncic is.

Speaker 6 (18:15):
A tremendous five team first All NBA in the first
six years in the league.

Speaker 4 (18:21):
That's unheard of. People don't do that.

Speaker 6 (18:23):
We know we can play, but why when they get
rid of a twenty five year old international star. There's
other stuff there. And when they don't know, they won't
He won't listen to the training staff. They don't know
what he's doing. When they took that beer away from him,

(18:44):
that was a red. You just won the Western Conference finals.
You're going to the finals and I can't have a beer.
I'm of age. He wasn't like it wasn't going crazy
or right. You saw the one like he was touching
females or throwing be around a peer.

Speaker 4 (19:01):
He was having a beer.

Speaker 7 (19:02):
He's having a beer and they took the beer like
oh no, oh, and it was another player. It was
Michael Finley who took the beer. Right, So you know,
like there's something under the surface, right, But again, you're
one of the best players in the world. You've been
one of the best players in the world since you
got there, and then you had somebody.

Speaker 4 (19:16):
Tell you I don't want you.

Speaker 6 (19:19):
Of course he's motivated, and that's what they told him
that they we don't want They dumped Luca, no other
way around.

Speaker 4 (19:25):
We don't want you. So of course, yes, these first
two years, now not that not getting trade mid season
and trying to win. He wasn't gonna win these two years,
but a lot of people did buy into it.

Speaker 7 (19:37):
They were doing. But these two years, I promise you're
going to see the best version of Luca. And if
you got the best version of Luca, your team has
a chance. So I'm gonna say they have a puncher's chance.
I say they're delusional.

Speaker 6 (19:53):
I really do, o West because there's so many younger
and he's young, but you get me younger teams I
just can't get over, Like where they are, and even
the old head team like the Clippers, Like.

Speaker 4 (20:07):
You can look at that roster, right, the Uns.

Speaker 6 (20:09):
Yeah yeah, I mean that's that's what it is, right,
they're the golden guys. I get all that, but you
know what, that was a hit show. Well it was
a hit show one year, right, that's all you're trying for.

Speaker 4 (20:20):
You might not be.

Speaker 6 (20:21):
Renewed, they might not be renewed by NBC, but that's okay.

Speaker 4 (20:25):
You just want one year out of it. I don't know.

Speaker 6 (20:29):
I just Lebron at his age, and I'm just being real,
Like even Lebron, who you know, signed to comeback with
the you know, couldn't go anywhere because people are like,
we can't give up any ad forty one yes, Like
like oh look at his number. No, no, no, he's
forty one yes. And he played sometimes like he's forty

(20:51):
one and as he should. But again, this is why
you bring a Luca Danters in, right, And this is
why you bring DeAndre Hayden.

Speaker 4 (20:58):
Hopefully he's inspired. He's another one, of course.

Speaker 6 (21:00):
I mean, like I get it, fans, you figure like
somebody was somewhere else there were garbage, and then once
you get him, it's gonna change. I just, I'm just,
I'm just like when you've been on when you've been
on eight teams and they just and nobody wants you,
Like at some point, I'm just keeping it. Really, You're
really you're being really real, like because everybody, that's what
all fan bases do.

Speaker 4 (21:21):
Yeah, I know he.

Speaker 6 (21:22):
Was bad for the last two or three teams years
where but I'm telling you, like, now he's gonna be
a Laker once he puts that uniform on, Rob g
He's gonna have his inner Kobe Noss.

Speaker 4 (21:32):
You know, he's gonna be.

Speaker 6 (21:33):
Like, Yeah, I'm gonna, I'm gonna, I'm gonna all of
a sudden be like I'm inspired because Kobe Water's uniform.

Speaker 4 (21:40):
Rob.

Speaker 3 (21:40):
You know that Rob had muffin today because he's anything
but consistent, right Like, uh, you know when the Lakers
had the lebron A d Russ Carmelo thing, the Golden
Guys was a bad thing. But now that it's the Clippers,
well that was his show, you know what I mean,
they might have something this season. No, and then and
then DeAndre am you know he sucks, but you know,

(22:00):
Bruce Brown was the big answer for Toronto and that
was gonna do great with Denver. No, okay, everybody Lakers
except Lebron is the only only I went out in
their twenties.

Speaker 6 (22:09):
Yeah, I just but I don't like where Lebron is
and the numbers. And my my issue is, you gotta
admit it, there were the same the same. It's not
the same numbers and people. That's why people were fooled
last year.

Speaker 4 (22:23):
That's why. That's all I'm saying.

Speaker 6 (22:25):
Ain't nobody had them getting knocked out in the first
round by the Timberwolves.

Speaker 4 (22:29):
They didn't, No, no, no, no.

Speaker 7 (22:31):
I thought Minnesota would win, but nobody thought that they
were going to lose to those.

Speaker 6 (22:34):
And that's what I'm saying. That's because of Lebron and Luca.
You got two star players, you think, okay, and then
all I just need is a couple of role players.

Speaker 4 (22:41):
I got my two stars. This is you don't need three.

Speaker 3 (22:44):
You just know Luca ate two bad Glizzies before they
get and then it ruined everything.

Speaker 4 (22:48):
Hey listen, enough with the Glizzies.

Speaker 6 (22:50):
Many New York has the best.

Speaker 6 (23:06):
Calvin walk In, who covers the Cowboys for the Dallas
Morning News.

Speaker 4 (23:11):
What's up, Calvin? How are you?

Speaker 9 (23:14):
What's going on? What's going on?

Speaker 4 (23:15):
Say hi to Carry Rhoads.

Speaker 7 (23:17):
I just talk to Calvin. I don't want don't say hi, Calvin.
I talked to you yesterday.

Speaker 9 (23:20):
I don't want to hear you.

Speaker 6 (23:24):
What on your show? I was just wondering, all right,
we can double dip in here, that's all good. I
saw Jerry Jones. I know this is his m O.
What is Jerry gonna like ship one of these guys out?
I mean, he's gonna sign Michael Parsons, make a trade,
fill some holes.

Speaker 4 (23:44):
I would just move on, Calvin.

Speaker 6 (23:45):
I know it ain't gonna happen because Jerry always he
always gives in in the end and winds up bending.

Speaker 4 (23:52):
But I this is typical Jerry, isn't it.

Speaker 9 (23:56):
Yeah? This is typical Jerry. This is how he plays
the game. He gets in a war of words with
the star players, and then the player gets the money
that he wants and you keep it moving. That's that's
how he does it. It's the boxing promoters way of
doing things. Bob am Don King, That's how they did
it for a thousand years, and he heard, I think

(24:17):
is doing it now and Jerry Jones is doing it,
so and we all fall forward, right. So I think
we've got a little bit smart over here is we're
just call him out on it, but he doesn't care. Saturday,
Jerry is the only person that talked.

Speaker 4 (24:33):
To the media.

Speaker 9 (24:33):
No players know anybody else because I can Parsons ask
for trade. That's exactly what you.

Speaker 7 (24:40):
Do, Calvin So. I mean, obviously there's so many questions
around Dallas. I mean, we've talked about it. That division
is stacked. I mean, the top two teams in that
division is are they going to be the Commanders and
the Eagles. It seems like Giants are getting better, but
the Cowboys. I mean obviously a lot of talk around
Micah and the offense that and those two receivers Pickings

(25:01):
and Ceedee Lamb. But what's what's going to be this
team's identity.

Speaker 9 (25:07):
That's a good question. I think we're still trying to
figure that out, and even Brian Schottenheimer is trying to
figure it out. Because you know, they got to have
scrimmage on Tuesday against the Rams, and I asked him
to what are you looking for in this scrimmage? And
you know, he gave us the whole coach speak. You know,
we're gonna be fast and physical and all this kind
of jazz, right, And I really don't know what kind

(25:28):
of team we're going to have.

Speaker 6 (25:30):
I do believe that's that's scary to me that you're
the beat writer and you're sitting here going not sure, right, Like,
why don't they don't know?

Speaker 4 (25:38):
They don't know? Like what what? What is this going
to be?

Speaker 9 (25:42):
I think they have an idea they want to be
a fast, physical team. But who doesn't why you know,
you know, I'm not you know, I'm not putting in
Hall of Fame because you said you want to be
a fast and physical team. That's right, So but what
kind of team do you have? And obviously Tyler Smith,
who was the starting left guard, run of the best

(26:02):
in the business, he said, I like I lost that
they grew a super Bowl roster. Bryan Shottenheimer agreed, and
Jerry Jones agreed. So they think they can go to
the super Bowl. And I'll say everybody thinks he can
go to super Bowl?

Speaker 4 (26:13):
Right, Yes, it's ridiculous.

Speaker 6 (26:15):
Come on, Calvin, really seriously, I just like, like through
those guys, I get it, like you hope, Hey, carry
knows he was with the Jets. For gods, every year
you're walking around, Oh yeah we got it down, Yeah
we're gonna go uh Brett Farb. They were eight and
three at one point, and they didn't even get they
even make the playoffs?

Speaker 4 (26:35):
Calvin, why are you calling my stats out?

Speaker 2 (26:37):
What I'm going on?

Speaker 6 (26:39):
Go back to Calvi? But yeah, but what are the
Cowboys doing? Okay? But you give my point. It's like
the Cowboys were seven and ten a year ago. They
had some bad defensively. My god, remember they were getting
beat by like a drum. They got holes all over
the place. I just I don't I don't know what's
going on here, and I don't know how the Cowboys
feel that they fit in and they go get a

(27:00):
no name coach. It wasn't on anybody's weight off. I
know the last name Schottenheimer, and we get that. But
my god, really, Brian sh what am I supposed to
expect from him?

Speaker 9 (27:12):
Well? I think a couple of years ago, and Carrie
could attest to this Shotenheimer was a hot name in
the mar and the coaching scene.

Speaker 4 (27:21):
And so he didn't get a job, right.

Speaker 9 (27:23):
Go ahead, Well, well, yeah, that's true. He turned down
a couple opportunities because he thought it was going to
come back around to him again, and it never did.
And then he took a job at Georgia and when
his wife said how much did they paying you? He
didn't even know call him back and figure that out, right. So,
and I was really shocked when someone said, yeah, his

(27:47):
name is in the mix, and I.

Speaker 7 (27:49):
Was like, really, you and everybody else?

Speaker 9 (27:52):
Yeah, right, But they there's something about Shottenheimer. They like
he has a presence about him. He's a community you know,
he's a great relationship guy. Shea communication sky, you know,
he does all those things. Well, you know, he comes
from big stock. I mean his dad went over two
hundred games in this league and that's hard to do, right, So.

Speaker 4 (28:10):
How many super Bowls?

Speaker 9 (28:11):
Big ones? He lost? The big one was.

Speaker 4 (28:14):
Okay, I just want to check, that's all. I'm just checking.

Speaker 9 (28:18):
You know, you can't be won.

Speaker 4 (28:20):
No, I'm just saying you just said it won two
undred game but never won a Super Bowl. Just saying
that's a fact. That means that at some point. You
must have choked at some point, that's all.

Speaker 9 (28:30):
You know, Hey, what do you do? But anyway, Shotty
is here. The Cowboys love him.

Speaker 3 (28:36):
Uh.

Speaker 9 (28:36):
You know we had a craft fish boil. You got
ping pong tables in a lot of great You know,
he had to beat out yesterday families. You know, shot
He's got tattoos, and players were talking about tattoos, talking
about yeah, stop.

Speaker 4 (28:54):
Beating it to rob. You give me.

Speaker 6 (28:57):
Do you know what I'm gonna be saying about the
Cowboys all year, about how shoddy they are and their
play is shoddy. Remember that Shody shot He's got a
crab bake, a lobster crab bake.

Speaker 9 (29:11):
He's got his own drink to Shoty. I think it's
a vodka and soda something like that. Got his own
little drink. He's got a Shotty shake, its special handshakes.
You know, it's the way for the future.

Speaker 4 (29:22):
It's beautiful, Okay. I just I don't see it. I don't.
Maybe I'm wrong.

Speaker 6 (29:29):
Jerry's been doing it wrong for a long time, and
I know everybody just says.

Speaker 4 (29:33):
Hey, it's Jerry.

Speaker 6 (29:34):
This is It's unbelievable that the Cowboy, even the Lions
have been in the NFC Championship game and not even
the cowboy.

Speaker 4 (29:41):
Just think about that over the last thirty years.

Speaker 9 (29:43):
Yeah, I remember the muller Man March that he started.

Speaker 4 (29:47):
That's right, you exactly. I need to go down there
and start a Jerryman march or something. Man, stop it, man.
I mean.

Speaker 9 (29:55):
There was a fan that was this is the first
time I've ever seen it. There was a fan at
track this Saturday. He had a sign that said sell
the team. Ooh, And I was like why why It
was one fan, So I was like wow, and another
and another fan had another sign hoping for Jerry's demise.
Oh god, exactly. Yeah. So this is the first time
where you're starting to see the fans get a little

(30:17):
They've been fighting on social media, right for those all fakes,
tough guys, right, come out to he comes to the ballpark,
he comes to the stadium, and that's when you that's
when you do your thing. And so now you're starting
to see a little bit more and more with the fans.
But here's the other thing, and Jerry's one hundred percent
right in this. The fans are gonna keep buying the tickets.
The fan is going to keep purchasing the merchandise. And

(30:39):
that's that.

Speaker 4 (30:39):
That don't make it right.

Speaker 6 (30:40):
It don't make it right that that mentality is terrible
by Jerry, and I get it. Fans are starved. They
only eight games a year. I get all that, but
that doesn't justify what he's done, which has destroyed his
organization as far as being a winning culture and a
winning team. That this team should have won a championship
many years ago with all the players will come by anyway,

(31:01):
Calvin Walkins, you're the best. We appreciate you for the
Dallas Morning News. We gotta run. Appreciate you my massage.
I got the Cowboys winning seven games again and shoddy
having shoddy a shoddy performances first year as head coach.

Speaker 9 (31:15):
All right, you carry is more optimistic.

Speaker 4 (31:17):
I am. I got you by Calvin, I got you,
he said, eight wins. All right, thanks
