the next hour around eight thirty Eastern five thirty if

Of course Fox Sports Radio NFL Insider will join the
show as well, so.
Speaker 3 (03:44):
A lot to do.
Speaker 1 (03:45):
And then last we have a trash talking Tuesday will
be next hour as well, So get those calls ready
as we get ready to start the show. But as
we mentioned, Carrie, it's cut Day, so I want to
I want to start with the big headline. But what
I would like to do maybe is towards the end
of the segment, or maybe if we got to start
(04:05):
the next segment, I want to just get your story
of cut Day. What it's like, the experience for guys
who come in and peep peep, peep peep. That key
card don't work no more. That key card ain't letting
them in the building anymore, Carrie. So I want to
get to that in a little bit. But I do
want to start with what everyone he was waiting to
see and what my co host shout out to Rob Parker.
(04:27):
Rob is on vacation, folks. He's enjoying at a little
meat time, which well deserved. But he was guaranteeing, or
at least he really thought that Cheduel was going to
be cut, and I insisted that he shouldn't. Obviously none
of us know, But why would I cut this guy?
To me, there were other moves that I I Why
(04:49):
am I trading for Kenny Pickett? Why am I going
back to get Joe FLACKO? Okay, fine, you do those moves.
Why do I draft Dlan Gabriel? Fine, that's who you
want it? Why do I then draft uh Shaudure?
Speaker 3 (04:59):
They would just move to move that.
Speaker 1 (05:00):
You kind of go, okay, where are we going with this?
Speaker 3 (05:02):
Mind?
Speaker 1 (05:03):
You you still have should Deshaun Watson technically on the
roster as well, even though he's dealing with that Achilles injury?
So I didn't think he should be cut. But obviously
there were things to be left determined. And now we
know Shadure is on the team. Shaudure is gonna be
QB number three, And I don't believe he will be
(05:24):
QB number three for long. Carrie, I don't believe that.
A couple of reasons why number one. I just think
it's gonna be inevitable. Just sometimes in life we get
these fun moments in sports. Now, it's not fun for
Kenny Pickett with injuries. Nobody wants to be injured. But
if he were to make it and Schaudure were to
get cut, where would the storylines be? Because aside for
(05:47):
the Cowboys, we are talking the number two team. We're
talking about it too, the Cleveland Browns, right, and the
Browns are gonna keep on being a gift that gives.
Speaker 3 (05:54):
So I look at it this point, Kenny Pickett's gone.
Speaker 1 (05:58):
They have a forty year old star and Joe Flacco
who has had a good career, but as at the
end of his career. Yes, I mentioned this yesterday. Stat Wise,
there'd only been fifteen quarterbacks carry who have played and
started more than ten games in their forties throughout the
history of the league. And of those fifteen, only about
four were really successful and worth and notable. Okay, so
(06:19):
you got Brett Favre, which has started off pretty good
then eventually ended bad. We have currently Aaron Rodgers. We
had Drew Brees, and we had the goat of it all,
Tom Brady. So Joe Flacco ain't Tom Brady, is not
Brett Farr, and he ain't Aaron Rodgers, so I'm not
and Drew Brees either. Okay, those guys are all Hall
(06:40):
of famers. I don't expect him to be upright long enough,
and I'm not wishing help, but you know this, I
don't expect him to start long enough from the bat,
how bad that offensive line is. I don't expect him
from even necessarily having success. I'll tell you why as well, Carrie.
When you look at the numbers of what the Cleveland
Browns were, they were when you're looking at yards per game,
(07:04):
they were nineteenth. They were twenty fifth when you're talking
about defensive ratings, so they got they have to the other.
Speaker 3 (07:09):
Teams are gonna score, so they're gonna have to score
they can.
Speaker 1 (07:11):
They were twenty seventh and points allowed you're looking at
the passing, they were in the middle of the pack
as well. So when I look at this offense, it's
not gonna be great. They're twenty eighth in total yards
per game. Let me let me back that up. They
were thirty second in the NFL points per game, thirty
second at fifteen point two points per game.
Speaker 3 (07:30):
That ain't gonna cut it.
Speaker 1 (07:31):
Carry If that was my starting point guard in the NBA,
cool fifteen points, maybe give me eight assists, we'll be hyright.
That is not a whole team in sixty minutes of
NFL football. And so when you look at their defense,
they were twenty seven the points allowed per game at
twenty five point six at eighteen and yards allowed per game.
So my point is they're gonna be in some blowouts.
(07:51):
They're gonna be in bad situations, and I expect the bumping.
Dylan Gabriel gets bumped up the starter, Shador gets bumped
up the back up, and by midway or two thirds
of the season, I'm not shocked that Chador is gonna
be starting. But I think this is good for him.
Get his feet wet, get acclimated in the NFL, learn,
continue to learn both on the field, off the field,
(08:12):
and podium, because all of that matters when you're a starter.
And I'm happy for him that he made this team.
And now just like when Ay, I'm a fifth round pick,
carry you made a team, do what you got to
do to make the team.
Speaker 3 (08:23):
Now you've done that.
Speaker 1 (08:24):
Now you do what you got to do to stay
on the team, to become a backup and then eventually
a starter.
Speaker 3 (08:29):
But I didn't think he was going anywhere.
Speaker 1 (08:31):
And maybe it's fate the way it worked out with
Kenny pick and all that, But here we are. Chador
is going to be here, and this is going to
be a storyline that keeps on giving.
Speaker 5 (08:38):
Yeah, I didn't think he was going anywhere either. And
even if he was not going to be on the
Cleveland Browns, he was going to be on the team, right,
So I wasn't worried about that part of it. He
was going to be an NFL player, So I think
Dak case was kind of already closed for me, the
fact that he's in Cleveland. Still, I thought he'd be
there as well, Especially and like you said, fate kind
(08:58):
of spoke up and kind of led the way here.
With Aidan O'Connell getting hurt with the Raiders, we knew
that a quarterback had to go to that situation. And
I said it on my show on Sunday. I was like,
Kenny Pickett is the best player to go to Oakland
in that situation.
Speaker 4 (09:12):
And that's what I mean.
Speaker 5 (09:13):
It's a Vegas and that's what happened, right, So that
kind of take that kind of took place. But again,
you said something really good. As far as he's on
the team now, he's done everything he had to do
to make the cut.
Speaker 4 (09:26):
He's there. He is a part of the Cleveland Browns.
Speaker 5 (09:29):
When football gets to going, injuries happen, things happen, teams
play better, teams play worse than their expectations, and you
have guys that are looming, right like the second third
string guy, the guy that just plays special teams. He's
not just trying to play special teams. He's trying to
be a starter at some point, right, And you kind
of get that rude awakening of No, these guys aren't
(09:50):
content with being where they are. And that's every guy
in the NFL. Man, I'm telling you, every guy in
that locker room thinks they should be playing and should
be starting. And so keep that same energy. But also
you said something else. There is etiquette as well, and
he's shown a great etiquette as far he said, he's
shown great etiquette so far right now, how he's handled
things and handled his position. But in the season when
(10:12):
the live bullets get going and you know, people start
pointing fingers and those reports come out. But you just said,
if they're having the slow season and Flacco is you know,
just kind of playing okay, you know, people are gonna
wonder who's that next guy, and so now it's time
to compete and get better. Dylan's number two right now
on the depth chart, but I promise you it's really close, right,
(10:32):
so that can change at any time, and so for him,
just get ready to play. Do your think the Browns
me and you we have a different trajectory with them.
I think they can be better than than what you're saying.
I know you're going based off of last year, but
but well, but we'll see. It's gonna be exciting. I'm
just glad that the preseason is done and we can
put that to bed.
Speaker 1 (10:51):
Right well, I don't expect him to be quite as
bad because number one, Deshaun Watson ain't playing right and I.
Speaker 3 (10:57):
Don't know what bruh, I don't know where he lost.
Speaker 1 (11:00):
And I mean this, I think part of the Deshaun
Watson demise was mental. I don't think he was in
a great situation like it wasn't like he was running
around with this most explosive offense, you know, he wasn't.
He wasn't in an offensive line like the Eagles and
throwing to those receivers and having a running back like
say Kwan.
Speaker 5 (11:18):
Right but Keill, Yeah, yeah, but you can say that.
But Flaco with that same team was scoring points and
putting up thirty.
Speaker 1 (11:25):
So no, I'm went you so watched to where I'm
going with that, Carrie, is that I think a lot
of it was mental, similar to Tiger Woods. But when
you're getting when outside things to that magnitude expose you
and you kind of had this pristine reputation. We view
you as a certain type of person and his leader
(11:45):
and scandalous. It is not a thing like.
Speaker 3 (11:47):
You got no bar fight. Well we can kind of
get over that.
Speaker 1 (11:49):
You know, It's not a thing you were hanging out
at Vegas and got caught up and like all right,
well things happened. This was, as we know, very detailed,
very The quantity of accusers was insane, and I think
that takes a toll on you because, as you know,
it's just the little bit of how fast you pay
(12:11):
or how player or how you read something or how
you react, just that one hair that separates the good
to the great. So the guys who aren't playing well, right,
and if your mental isn't quite sharp, where you're there.
And that was the credit to the late great Kobe Bryant.
He was able to compartmentalize. Bro was showing up the
games and a helicopter from leaving court. That's right, you
know what I mean? And he talks about it all
(12:33):
the time. He talked about it that he was able
to like, all right, that's there, that's over. Now I'm
on the court, and not that that doesn't matter, not
that I'm not worried about it, and I got this
whole life situation, But for this next forty eight minutes,
two and a half hour in real time, I'm on
the court, and I think everybody can't do that right.
Speaker 3 (12:50):
What are they saying? What are they looking at? What's
my family?
Speaker 1 (12:53):
Thing? Are how they perceive? And I think you lose
a little bit of that mystique. And I think that
played a role into what we saw with Deshaun. But
I also want to say this to Dylan Gabriel, is
he's gonna be in a really tough situation because you
have a large multitude of people who are gonna want us,
like you know how you know this, Normally it's the
backup quarterback.
Speaker 3 (13:12):
Everybody's cleming for.
Speaker 1 (13:13):
Yeah, you have a lot of people in Cleveland cleming
for the third string guy, which is crazy, Which is crazy.
You're gonna have a lot of that nationwide, a lot
of that, people who are buying the jerseys, showing up,
a lot of people loud on radio, loud on TV,
like the third is not even a backup. So, Dylan
Gabra is an awkward situation where and I think it's
gonna be challenging for that locker room to stay tired.
Speaker 3 (13:34):
You can speak on this. I'm gonna finish my thought.
I want you to speak on this.
Speaker 1 (13:38):
Can that locker room withstand You already have Deshaun wats stuff,
but I think they probably moved past that, right. But
you have that, you have the idea that Joe gives
us the best option to win now, but then again
he's in our future. And then you have where I
think media, social media is gonna be trying to pride
Dylan Gabriel, who's gonna have to be the one of
(13:59):
the leaders. And also at shador put him against each other.
Maybe he said that, Look what he said that? What
did he mean by that? Oh he threw an interception?
Just shud door get in. So answer me this. On
the other side, how difficult they say, if you have
two quarterbacks, you don't have one? What if I have three?
How does that affect them? How does that affect the
locker room? I want you to answer that. On the
(14:19):
other side, it is The Odd Couple. My man carry
Rhodes is and for Rob Parker, I'm Kevin Washington on

Speaker 6 (15:39):
That's right.
Speaker 3 (15:40):
What's up, everybody, Kevin Washington.
Speaker 1 (15:41):
We got my man Carrie Rose, who is and for
Rod Parker on a trash Talking Tuesday. Carrie Out's coming
up in about forty five minutes. We'll see what folks
want to trash. They might want to trash, We're getting
ready to talk to you, especially if they're a part
of a Cowboy Nation you might want to do that
in just a little bit, man. Yeah, it ain't all
good over There a lot to get to this hour
as well. So first and foremost, we're excited to announce
(16:04):
that we for a brand new YouTube channel for the show.
That's right, The Odd Couple now has its own YouTube channel.

the show. So go check out the brand new channel again,
just search the Odd Couple FSR on YouTube and subscribe.
And yes, Carrie Travis Kelsey, he told Taylor Swift to
meet him at the U turn and your bye dress.
Speaker 3 (16:41):
We got on that knee.
Speaker 4 (16:42):
Oh gonna get going, thought it's gonna get going.
Speaker 1 (16:44):
We ain't getting.
Speaker 4 (16:45):
We ain't getting no young girl.
Speaker 1 (16:47):
Yeah yeah, yeah, And we'll get to that a little
bit later on. Obviously a lot of people are excited
about that, and contrary to what you might believe, a
lot of shows we're talking to about it. You know,
it was a thing. So I have compiled the list
oh man of athletes and entertainers who are together, and
(17:10):
we're going to do that next hour. I'm going to
go over that list and the conversation about him saying,
you know, oh man, you know I was a little distracted.
I had a lot going on. Will he continue to
be distracted now? So we'll do that next hour. Looking
forward to that, and also don't forget we have Adam
Kaplan's going to be joining us in a little bit
(17:32):
as well in about twenty seven minutes. Talk some more
football headlines. Fifty three man cut. The rosters, I should say,
are solidified today. So we'll talk to Adam Kaplan and
just a little bit as well. But I want to
start with those Dallas Cowboys. I'm Jerry Jones, and I
tell you what I can't front to you, Carrie. I'll
(17:53):
beget my America's team on now. Granted, you know I
got three kids, you know I got seventeen jobs. Haven't
been able to knock it out in one take like
a lot of people have been able to. But I'm
getting a piece by piece, and I think a couple
of things is happening right now. And it also ties
to Michael Parsons, like to hear it here go. I
(18:14):
believe Jerry Jones is going down a Roy Jones junior.
Speaker 4 (18:20):
Y'all must have forgot. I was just about to say,
y'all must have forgot.
Speaker 1 (18:24):
He's going through the y'all must have forgot. Y'all talking reckless.
You know, I love my band Steven A. Smith, I
love him, but dagget y'all talking reckless about these boys.
We got three rings under my ownership. We are worth
some say, anywhere from twelve to thirteen billion dollars, the
number one of the team in the NFL. When they're
talking about what the team would be worth, were the
(18:47):
most talked about because guests who carrying Calvin about to
talk about them boys? How about them cowboy? So I
think he's on a y'all must have forgot to it
right now. He's got the documentary dropping, he's on rate
video every day, he's doing podcasts every day. He then
sat down with Steven A. Smith a million times, and
he's doing all that along with Michael Parsons, who's regular
(19:08):
and routinely talking. Now, let me also say this, I
think what we're looking at with Jerry Jones in the
Michael Parson situation is a rollout. You know how when
people drop an album, they do a rollout. Yes, the
Clips just dropped arguably hip hop album of the year.
(19:29):
They did a rollout. They hit this show, they did
NPR Tiny Desk, they hit this podcast. They pulled up
on that Atheliet. They might have pulled up on some
sports shows. They pulled up everywhere. It's called a rollout.
You might even do a stunt, Brian, you might pull
a whatever. We can't tell is this real or is
this fake. It's called a rollout because we're getting ready
to drop this album on your Jerry Jones is in
(19:50):
full rollout mode and Michael Parsons oop, Sorry, you're caught
up in the rollout. He's dropping. He dropped. He knew
he had this massive Netflix documentary. He knew he had
his best player in a contract dispute. Mind you is
the best player on the team, who has been very
vocal that I want to be here, who has been
(20:10):
very vocal I want to be a cowboy for life.
You know that. Two years ago they come to you
and say, hey, Dad, it's Steven here. We can trade
this young player and get a who.
Speaker 3 (20:21):
Whole bunch of assets.
Speaker 1 (20:23):
He said, now we're not gonna trade our best player.
We're gonna keep them. Well, now you kept him, didn't
sign them, And all of this is the rollout because
everybody's talking about it. You got the documentary they're talking about.
They're talking about what are the Cowboys gonna do this season?
They talked about they got a new coach, they talked
about all these things happening, And I believe Michael Parsons
is caught up in a rollout. Well, ultimately, Jerry's gonna
(20:45):
come to him and be like, my bad for talking
about we had some back room smoky Las Vegas casino
deal without your agent because we know that's illegal, you
know the CBA. Yes, And also my bad for saying
you missed six games when you only miss four, so
I'm making it look like you're injury prone, and my
bad for saying, you know you.
Speaker 3 (21:03):
Can get hit by train. What are we talking about, Jerry?
Speaker 1 (21:07):
And I believe all of this is the rollout for
the mister Marketer himself, for mister you know, circus ringleader himself,
and Michah got caught up in it, and he's gonna
double back at the end and be like, wap it up?
My bad. Here's the contract, here's the money, because this
is what he does with EMMITTT. This is what he
(21:27):
does with Michael Irvin and CD and Dak and de
Marcus Lawrence, right, and he's gonna do it with Micah.
But he's gonna use this until it's all gone, until
the last second, the twelfth hour, and sign the deal.
And this will be a death roll sug night rollout
for an album.
Speaker 3 (21:44):
This is the fifty cent rollout.
Speaker 1 (21:46):
This is I got shot five times. I'm signing the
eminem I got beef with John Rule, I'm doing all this.
I got abs.
Speaker 3 (21:53):
I'm showing I ain't put on a shirt in two years.
Speaker 1 (21:57):
Get Richard I trying, and Michael's trying to get rich
without without dying.
Speaker 3 (22:01):
In this case, and the man who is rich is
gonna give him his money.
Speaker 1 (22:04):
All right, I'm done.
Speaker 3 (22:05):
That's why this is a rollout.
Speaker 4 (22:06):
Man, that's a dissertation.
Speaker 5 (22:07):
And you know what's crazy about it is you're yeah,
you're probably right. I mean, because there's there's no way
that he kept him up until this point and had
no plans of signing him and getting him what he wants, right, Like,
he's not going anywhere and so this whole the all
the Shenanigans, all the stuff that's going on. I mean,
you talk, you said Jerry's side already, but then you
(22:28):
have Micah as well, laying down and before the game
taking a nap. Like all these things are just building, building, building,
adding to the fire up the thing you just said.
There's no way they're letting them go. They're not trading them.
They're not going to get the players they need, They're
not going to get the picks they need for that
type of player. So, I mean, I just saw a
report that said Micah's already getting ready, you know, for
(22:49):
the rollout, to get ready to roll out for the
season and get ready to play. And Schottenheimer's talking to
him saying it's gonna take a little time, but he's
gonna be like, I'm sure this thing is already getting handled,
and when the dust clears, Michael will be. If he's
not the top paid non quarterback position player in the league,
he's gonna get it and be close. So all of
(23:09):
this is just preseason fodder, old cowboy fodder. This is
what Jerry Jones has done forever. This isn't something new,
This isn't something that should be taking us for a ride,
having a surprise at all.
Speaker 4 (23:22):
This will be done.
Speaker 5 (23:23):
And Jerry Jones is being Jerry Jones, and you gotta
work in that accent a little bit though.
Speaker 4 (23:27):
You need a little bit more whiskey to get that.
Jerry Jones, you're right.
Speaker 3 (23:29):
You're right real quick.
Speaker 1 (23:31):
Hell, let me go on, yeah, let me go get this,
let me check, let me go, let me give another
shot at it.
Speaker 4 (23:36):
Right, he's almost he's almost like this, it's almost like
a whisper. And it comes from the right there. Yeah,
it's from the throat. Right, it's from the throat.
Speaker 1 (23:43):
And I worked there, rode it out on the nack.
Speaker 4 (23:46):
There it is there, gonna call it's from the throat.
He talked.
Speaker 1 (23:50):
My favorite waitress came out there. It is nacking. And
I signed it. I signed the deal and he wanted
to sign it.
Speaker 3 (23:57):
But Jerry, what about his agent?
Speaker 1 (23:58):
What about his agent? I don't like his agent. I
might be not doing it. So listen, let me tell
you what you're not doing. You're not getting rid of
a guy who's only been in the league for a
handful of seasons.
Speaker 3 (24:08):
Five seasons.
Speaker 1 (24:08):
It is, give or take four seasons, and it's fifty
two and a half sacks.
Speaker 3 (24:13):
Let me tell you who we're not getting rid of.
Speaker 1 (24:16):
Let me tell you a guy who missed four games
and still had a nerd to get twelve sacks last year.
Speaker 4 (24:20):
Right.
Speaker 1 (24:22):
Let me tell you about a guy who's told just
turned twenty six in May has been incredible. I'm not
getting rid of that guy. And mind you, I have
him signed for three years already.
Speaker 4 (24:31):
That's the point. And Kevin, we ain't fighting for it,
will you?
Speaker 3 (24:35):
I got you for three years?
Speaker 1 (24:36):
Let me I'm about to just roll this thing out,
extend his controversy, have some fun with it, and I'm
gonna double back my bad and I'm gonna get you
a nice Lamborghini with it at taboo.
Speaker 4 (24:46):
Hey, Kelvin.
Speaker 5 (24:46):
That's the thing though, And I tell the part about
all these deals in the NFL guys right now. Obviously
it's changed from when I played, but they have to
feel that they can NBA this thing. It's not the same, like,
there's no like. That's that's the part I think that
we're missing in this whole thing. And I think when
we talk about it, I'm saying we were the media.
(25:07):
We talk about it, right, it's good for it's good
for what we do. It's good for business right to
have these conversations and have these type of things happen.
But these NFL players don't have as much leverage as
they think they do when they come out and want
to demand trades and say they want to get paid
to hold out. Like we've seen people hold out and
their careers never be the same after that. And so
(25:28):
this is a game where you have to play constantly.
You have to you have to put in the reps.
You can't take years off. We saw le Beyon Bell
do that with the Steelers, right, yeah, yeah, never the
same like we've seen it happen multiple times. And so
the leverage part of this thing when it comes to
these guys, they have to understand. Even Trey Hendrickson, right,
he didn't get what he wanted. He held out the
whole time. We'll give you thirty million, but not for
(25:49):
four years. We'll give you thirty million for this one year,
which is a totally differ.
Speaker 1 (25:53):
I got mad at him. You on the show yesterday
meet he from talked about it. I got mad at
him in that and I did it in real time
a few weeks ago when he oh Man I just
I hate that I'm holding out and I'm being a
bad representation for the young guys and a bad example.
No you're not, No, you're not. You had seventeen and
a half sex, You've had more than I think fourteen
for three years in a row. You've been one of
(26:13):
the best defenders. And two other guys run your same
age and in some cases older than you got paid
in TJ. Watt and Miles Garrett and your division. Yeah,
why is it a bad thing that you're standing on
business saying I want to get paid? Why is it
that you in that league where we know nothing's guaranteed,
in the league where you can get beat up, bruised
(26:34):
up and done out the blue your career ended. You
absolutely should get what you deserve. Absolutely should get your worth.
So the idea, oh man, I feel bad now you're
showing these young people. Hey man, when you've put in
the work, the blood, sweat and tears, and you have equity,
you go ask and demand for what your worth, and
that team has the right to say no, they have
the right, but you absolutely have the right and earn
(26:56):
the right to stand on business. So I was, come on,
tray Trey, you acting like trading boys in the hood
right now, yo, do let me out, no, we go,
We're going to do this, this this signing drive by here, Hey,
about to get this signing.
Speaker 4 (27:10):
Man, let's try you out of there. Man, Trey was
about to get in some trouble. Man, let's trade out.
Speaker 3 (27:14):
Okay in the.
Speaker 1 (27:15):
Real boys and hoods, and Tray got out. Let him
Let him in this Tray and instance stay in the
car while we do this. Re sign me drive by
real quick. But yeah, so that's it's just Jerry Joe.
I just thought about it. I'm like, man, this is
a full on roll out. I got the show, I
got the biggest story in the off season. I got
everybody looking at me. I got rolled. You know, Steven A.
(27:36):
Smith doing a debut of his new media company and
the interview with me and all this, it's just this
is all great for him, and he's been telling us
the whole time we've known it. Then we get to
see it firsthand with the And my whole point was too,
I didn't really touch on this. What the the y'all
must have forgotten? I do think he's telling a young
group of cowboy fans. Hey, I know you're twenty six,
(27:59):
twenty eight even and you were only you know, you
were literally not even born. You're an infant the last
sumwhere in the NFC Championship game. But let me tell you,
this team, this organization did win a lot, did create stars.
Look at all this stuff we had. So I think
that was a part of it too, was to say
not only just the currently what we're gonna do blah blah.
(28:20):
Also don't forget what your boy did. Y'all must have
forgotten to y'all young cowboy fans.
Speaker 3 (28:26):
Fret not.
Speaker 1 (28:26):
I've done it before. I'm gonna do it again, even
though he hasn't.
Speaker 4 (28:29):
Done it right and calot. Look at this though.
Speaker 5 (28:31):
This is another thing that kind of gets lost in
translation when you talk about Jerry Jones in the beginning,
when he was having these situations pop up and having
to play play players pay players. He's a self made
He's a self made money man, right, so that money
he didn't have.
Speaker 4 (28:47):
It like he had to go get it. He did,
But now it's a little different, right, he has it now.
Speaker 5 (28:52):
And the fact that you just said, y'all must have forgotten,
he had to take them back to that, like it
screams that for real, like it really does.
Speaker 4 (28:59):
That's good. That's a good take by you, Like I.
Speaker 3 (29:02):
Must have forgot Roy Jones and somewhere well.
Speaker 1 (29:04):
Defensively, see Max from the body he in the Championship
rounds Roy.
Speaker 3 (29:08):
Jones and cracking me up.
Speaker 1 (29:09):
No matter what you ask him, he gonna start with defensively.
What do you think he needs to do well? Defensively?
Speaker 4 (29:16):
Oh that's how he pronounced it too.
Speaker 1 (29:17):
Huh yeah, well defensively he gonna start with some of
that all right. Uh. Somebody finally got paid and I
think the team felt like they may have overpaid, but
they had to do it for someone else.
Speaker 3 (29:30):
I'll explain. It's the odd couple.
Speaker 1 (29:32):
Carry is in for Rob on this trash Talking Tuesday

Speaker 5 (30:25):
When the album dropping? What where's the latest with that?
Oh man, it should be out in two weeks. The
first single will be hushed and then there will be
another follow up one boom boom boom, tall lad, I
got to know you and you heard hush, So yeah,
that's it's it's gonna be all right. I'm miss Does
miss Mary Mack have any of your tracks?
Speaker 4 (30:45):
I think Mary has to one? You got one of them? Right? Yeah?
Speaker 5 (30:48):
Yeah, Mary has right Mary, Mary's actually a part of
one as well.
Speaker 3 (30:52):
I'm sorry your hedphones are breaking up. What that you
haven't heard yet?
Speaker 4 (30:56):
Yeah?
Speaker 5 (30:56):
She's doing some little some stuff, some stuff on that
track For me, I can't say too much yet, but
it's it's a it's a banger too.
Speaker 1 (31:02):
So so what you're telling me is Mary? Miss Mary
is but your boy, you hear these bears, So.
Speaker 4 (31:07):
No, no, you know what I did.
Speaker 2 (31:09):
Hear it.
Speaker 5 (31:09):
I heard a song that you and Rob did and
it was awful. So first of all, no, no, no,
I'm just saying that's all I heard, though I ain't
saying you.
Speaker 1 (31:17):
Well you heard Ann Robin. You know the vocals wasn't
really there. Just let me spend if spit a few
bars on it, let me get a few more questions,
no question, all right. So somebody who was excited, I'll
tell you what and might be hanging out at the
bar and saying all Drake's on me is Terry McLaurin,
who is now ninety six million dollar man. Obviously, you
(31:38):
know it breaks down to what's guaranteed. But he's got
a three year contract extension worth up heavy on the up,
worth up.
Speaker 3 (31:45):
To ninety six million. That's gonna end this holdout for him.
Speaker 1 (31:48):
He can finally get back in and get back to
business as they get ready for the regular season opener
against the Division No.
Speaker 3 (31:54):
Rival and the Giants.
Speaker 1 (31:55):
So that's gonna make him carry the sixth highest paid
receiver with an annual average value at around thirty dollars
for him he already has a thirty million dollar bonus
as well.
Speaker 3 (32:06):
But I want to go with this is where I'm
looking at this.
Speaker 1 (32:08):
Yeah, he's gonna put him right around thirty two million
a year, tied with aj Browne. And I think that's
apropolt but also generous. And here's what I mean by that.
When you look at the history of receivers who have
done big things after thirty, there's not that that many,
(32:29):
you know. Yeah, and not that he won't be expecting
to be really good. I expected to be successful. So
it's not a matter of all of a sudden he's
gonna fall off the cliff. But having to make a
long term investment is more of what I'm referring to,
you know, having to do a crazy deal. So guys
like this, Look, Tyreek Hill signed a three year deal
ninety million dollars. He renegotiated with the Dolphins, and when
(32:49):
he was thirty, he had fifty four of that guarantee.
DeVante Adams, we know he just got that deal. He
got his when he was the age of thirty, a
two year, forty four million dollars deal.
Speaker 3 (32:58):
Annual average around twenty two millillion.
Speaker 1 (33:00):
So when you start to look at Mike Evans got
a two year extensuent in last year when he was
thirty one twenty twenty million dollars there. So he's above
kind of some of these other guys, and he's been
really good, but when you look at his numbers, he
hasn't been insanely good as you would think. He's been
great for the team, really good in that system, but
(33:23):
the numbers aren't astounding. But why the commanders had to
get this done because it wasn't about him, It's about
the kid. It was we got Terry, we got you, Terry,
we got Deebo Samuels, and we got this young quarterback
who was about to be the future for us in
the present and the future.
Speaker 3 (33:40):
Yes, and Jaden Daniels, and this was.
Speaker 1 (33:42):
About keeping him comfortable, keeping him having his number one targeted,
number one weapon, and again bringing in more weapons like
a Deebo Samuel and hoping that they can replicate the
success they had last season and maybe even try to
have some more. I know they're going to run the
ball more, I expect with Jaden because I think they're
going to say, hey, we're looking at teams that have
had some success with Lamar Jackson with Josh Allen. When
(34:04):
you have somebody who's that talented, stop trying to, you know,
put it in a box. And I think they're gonna
really utilize him to the best of their ability in
all facets of the game. So having his number one
receiver was necessary, even to the tune of reality, probably
overpaid him a little bit for a thirty zero receiver
who has been really good and productive, but not to
that top tier level. Yeah, and I think they said
(34:25):
we have to do it because the iron. We got
to strike now, right because we can't just let the
Eagles run away with this division and have it on
lock forever. Cowboys are out of it, is they maybe
they'll be a little bit better.
Speaker 3 (34:36):
Giants look like there could be a lot better.
Speaker 1 (34:39):
We got to strike now for the next two to
three years while we have a special quarterback three, you know,
and keeping his weapons around.
Speaker 4 (34:44):
This is all about Jayden Daniels. You hit it.
Speaker 5 (34:47):
They've gotten a glimpse of the future, like you said,
even the present.
Speaker 4 (34:52):
Now they know what they have.
Speaker 5 (34:54):
They have a guy that can can go out and
win you games and get you to the playoffs and
hopefully win big games when they matter. Don't you know
he's won some of those games in the playoffs as well.
So yeah, this is all about him. And I don't
think they actually overpaid for Terry McLaurin, because again, the
NFL is different than any other sport, right, Like you
look at that ninety six all you want, that means nothing.
Speaker 4 (35:14):
That's window dressing really.
Speaker 5 (35:16):
Only they really only paid him one year, thirty million
dollars really, so if you think of it that way,
it's pretty much on power for what he should be getting.
As you know, the receiver numbers are what they are,
and the value is the value. And so for him
one year thirty million dollars, that signing bonus is what matters.
I think it's a great deal. They can always rework
it after they need to. I mean, even if he gets,
(35:37):
you know, a down year from what he had last year,
still worth paying him at thirty for this year and
making their quarterback be comfortable having his top weapon. So, yes,
it's all about Jaydon Daniels here, and I don't think
they overpaid for him.
Speaker 1 (35:52):
Sometimes you pay for convenience, yes, right, we talked about that,
so we have you know, there's things you do, like
how much I just rather park my car here exactly.
You know, Ah, I just much rather eat here. It's
a little nicer, a little more elevated food quality. Whatever
your thing is, sometimes you have to pay to me.
And then again, they did it because they're like, we
(36:13):
got to keep this train roll and hopefully not only replicate,
maybe increase the productivity that we were able to have
last year.
Speaker 4 (36:20):
Right.
Speaker 5 (36:20):
I'm so happy they got it done too, because I
don't want any excuses out of the Commanders this year.
I know they had a great year. They surprised a
lot of people last year. I've been on the record
saying I think they're going to take a step back
this year. Now that doesn't mean they're not going to
make the playoffs or I don't know about all that,
but it's not going to be as easy. They're not
going to sneak up on teams. Second year quarterback play
from Jaydon Daniels. I'm excited to see what happens. A
(36:43):
lot of times you come in a situation where you
come in as a rookie take the league by storm
because defensive coordinators don't know about you, defenses don't know
about you. They know about him now, and so We're
going to get to see if he's able to get
through that sophomore slump and have another stellar season and watch.
Speaker 1 (37:00):
All right, we'll find out as a season rolls a
long Adam Kaplan getting ready to join us, we can
ask him the same question as well.
Speaker 3 (37:06):
On the other side of trending right now?
Speaker 1 (37:08):
Is Chris usc Chris Toledo, Chris Perfect?
Speaker 4 (37:13):
What'd you call him perfect? I'm getting like every NFL
player out here. I got Jacoby Brisset, I got.
Speaker 8 (37:20):
Vontet perfect, christ perfect, perfect perfect.
Speaker 1 (37:24):
That's what I said.
Speaker 4 (37:25):
That's right, That's exactly what you said.
Speaker 3 (37:27):
Come on, hold on, let me say my mic work.
Speaker 1 (37:29):
Is this thing off?
Speaker 6 (37:31):
It's on?
Speaker 1 (37:32):
Okay, Chris Perfect? Please go please?
Speaker 4 (37:35):
All right?
Speaker 8 (37:35):
All right, well, going right now, the US Open. We'll
start there before everything else. Naemo Osaka and Coco Goff
in action right now. Both of them have taken their
first set as we start to get into the nighttime
hours here in New York, one of the fun scenes
when it's on dark there. Earlier, Agannix Center defeated vit Culprava,
Stefano Sissypaus defeated Alexandra Muller and Iosontek defeated Emana Auranyo
(37:57):
in straight sets. NFL cut down Dylan Gabriel has being
named the number two Browns quarterback by coach Kevin Stefanski.
Shadi Sanders can still dress as an emergency third quarterback
for the team. Eagles linebacker Nakobe Dean posted a on
Instagram saying see y'all. Week five seems to indicate he'll
start the season on the pop list as he sil
(38:18):
recovers from a torn but teller. The Chargers are moving
running back Naji Harris off the non football injury reserve
and to the active roster. He's still recovering from injury
sustained from a fireworks accident back in July. Saints of
Name Spencer Ratler is the starting quarterback and are releasing
running back Clyde Edwards Hilaire. Packers are releasing wide receiver
Mikole Hardman and linebacker Isaiah Simmons. Alsy young hopeful Nathan
(38:43):
Evalde's twenty twenty five season is cut short. He was
diagnosed with a with a rotator cuff strain and is
being shut down by the Rangers. Currently going on right
now because we have he would kill me if I
didn't mention this. So the Yankees are up three to
one on the Nationals right now, top of the fifth inning.
There you go, Braves with a two one lead in
(39:03):
the Marlins to bottom of the seventh, and the Red
Sox with the three to zero lead on the Orioles
bottom of the eighth. Final runners are due up here soon.
For the Orioles guys, back to you all.
Speaker 1 (39:13):
Right, appreciate you. Chris, it is the acup. I'm covin Washington.
He is Carrie Rhodes. And for Rod Parker, Robin joined
little vak little meat time having a little nice Hawaii vacation,
A littlenlu Yeah, a little bit, Hona. Do you do
you Rob?
Speaker 6 (39:30):
Yes?
Speaker 3 (39:30):
And so hopefully he's enjoyed himself.
Speaker 1 (39:32):
We're joined now by our guy, Adam Kaplin, Fox Sports Radio,
NFL Insider Captain NFL on ex Adam, what's up, my man?
Speaker 6 (39:38):
How are you guys?
Speaker 1 (39:39):
Good to talk to you.
Speaker 6 (39:39):
By the way, I heard you, I heard you guys
talking about perfect right. Vontez is perfect, believe it or not,
is coaching as an analyst at UNLV. Really yeah, man,
My guy Paul gun through the former Bengals defensive coordator.
I'm sure Paul had something to do with it, but
Vontez perfect a defensive analyst at U n LV.
Speaker 4 (39:58):
Wow he knew. Is he teaching them how to tackle
the right way or you.
Speaker 6 (40:02):
Know, and you know it's unbelievable, Kerr, you know, it's unbelievable.
I remember calling the league about because when Berfect was
going out of his mind with the over physical play. Yeah,
I just this is I mean I remember I asked,
flat out, how do you legislate this? And you know
they would have talks about, Okay, this is the way,
this is what we're looking for. Yes he's yes, he's
(40:24):
on our radar to make sure he does things the
right way. It's just, you know, this is probably going
about eight years ago. I just remember Vontez Burfeck was
so over the top with the way that he played.
And that was the Bengals back then, as you know.
Speaker 1 (40:38):
Yep, hey, Adam, let me let me go here for
a little bit. I'm want to go back to the Browns.
Karry and I've already talked about, of course the door
making the fifty three man roster, but you know we
have to talk about this. But I do want to
ask you from a different perspective. Any way, Quietly, when
the doors are shut and the lights are off in
the facility that has Lom and Sefanski and they're all
(41:00):
maybe just sitting there when no one's looking in, and
they're enjoying of this that wind loser draw. We are arguably,
aside from the Cowboys with all the Micah and Jerry stuff,
the most relevant team. Or is this completely I wish
this would go away. We could just focus on football.
But is there a way they're kind of Hey, the
Browns are topic that Carrie and Kelvin are talking about,
(41:21):
and that Rob and Kelvin are talking about it, and
we're on first take, We're on this show, We're on
that show. Is that a real thing?
Speaker 6 (41:28):
All right? So let me go back to Johnny Manziel. Okay,
when Johnny Manzel was there, Jimmy HASLM was heavily involved
in Who's gonna play? He was wrong. He should have
got involved. That's why Kyle Shanahan decided to leave. He
actually dictated to Ray Farmer the GM then hey, let's
get Manziel in the game, and you just you can't
do that. Jimmy was on your point? Was so into
(41:51):
the the pr of it in getting Manzil and who,
by the way, was the first round pick. We're sure
or it's a fifth look, they like it the attention,
but Shudor is so far away from being ready. I
could tell you I was with the Browns for two
days here in Philly a couple of weeks ago. They
know it. Yeah, he looked okay in the Carolina game.
Not quite as good as the media would think. He didn't.
(42:12):
He did some good things. Some things he's got to
be better. Yep, he needs time to develop. You can't
just because of the hype. There's a reason why the
guy dropped to the fifth Like thirty two teams, including
the Browns socideed he's not worth drafting the first four rounds.
Let's be real with this one.
Speaker 5 (42:28):
You're a hundred percent right on him. But the thing
about that thing for me is it's what you just said,
Like it's the preseason and we're getting so overhyped and
so overanalyzed on these preseason camps that it's just you know,
as a player, I know it. It kills me at him,
but we have to talk about it. But I want
to switch I want to switch up a little bit.
I want to talk about. Obviously, the Commanders got their
(42:48):
guy Terry finally, you know, yes, finally got his deal done.
I was looking at this deal and I was just
telling Kelvin, you know, the three year ninety six million
that people look at that it's less trust.
Speaker 4 (42:58):
I know. That's that's that's what I know you know
about you.
Speaker 6 (43:00):
Know how that, By the way, did you ever have
incentives in your contract? I'm curious.
Speaker 4 (43:04):
No, No, I didn't have any intense ooh no for you.
Speaker 5 (43:06):
Yeah, mine was very very clear cut, clear cut, clear cut,
but nice man. What I said was this really essentially
is a one year, thirty million dollars deal. That's can
we can we talk about that a little bit and
and lights in our fans.
Speaker 1 (43:17):
Yeah.
Speaker 6 (43:18):
I haven't got the breakdown yet. But like with Trey Henderson,
for example, the Bengals were not going to guarantee any
money or very little in year two, so he signed
it one year deal. They fully guaranteed thirty million.
Speaker 1 (43:28):
Yep.
Speaker 6 (43:29):
With McLaurin, my understanding was that they liked the Bengals
did not want to guarantee very much money in year
two because Terry turns thirty by the way, he's no
injury history. Yep, you know. But something seems to happen
between thirty and thirty two with receivers. I've talked to
so many veteran receivers. Usually their legs go like Carl Pickett's.
I don't know. Carl Pickett's retires before your playing. I
(43:51):
got to know I've forgot no car a little bit.
He kind of said the same thing to me. There
becomes an ag where you just can't do what you
used to do, and that Washington was very concerned about that.
But I was with him last thursday. It was my
last stop of my training camp tour. I could have
told you about a thousand dollars they're going to get
a deal done. They weren't really, despite what people were reporting,
they weren't far away. They did not find the middle ground.
(44:12):
It was they were not doing thirty three or thirty
two million of real money. There's incentives in this contract.
It's going to be less than was reported, but it's fine. Look,
mclaurin's problem was he played with mostly until until Daniels
last year, bad quarterbacks, bad football teams, and he got
knocked for it. Unfortunately hurt him. It hurt him with
(44:34):
the new front office who didn't draft him, but they
know he's a super high character guy and if they
didn't do him right, this would have been a problem.
I could tell you in the locker room, there's no
question they would have They Adam Peters, a GM and
Josh Harris, the owner, you'd to extend this guy. It's
going to be a problem, and they know they had
to get it done.
Speaker 1 (44:52):
Adam kaplan all with the odd couple COVID Washington, Kerry
Rose on his trash talking Tuesday. Let me also go
to a conversation we were having, uh when it comes
to Micah.
Speaker 3 (45:03):
Ultimately, this is gonna get done.
Speaker 1 (45:05):
This is Jerry I called it.
Speaker 3 (45:07):
I called it Odam. I called it a rollout.
Speaker 1 (45:08):
Like we're getting ready to roll out a movie.
Speaker 3 (45:10):
We're getting ready to roll out of album.
Speaker 6 (45:12):
This is you know, let me, Jean, you do already
for thirty Calvin, we need a thirty for thirty of us.
You have no idea. We could do it short for
thirty minutes. Trust me on this. We could do one.
Speaker 1 (45:19):
Listen, Jerry is listening and he's already. I'll tell you what, Adam,
I'm working on it right now and so.
Speaker 6 (45:24):
He's got it's really good.
Speaker 1 (45:25):
Thank you.
Speaker 4 (45:26):
Wait wait, wait, hold up the coach Kelvin on that game.
Speaker 1 (45:30):
Really good, comes me up.
Speaker 3 (45:32):
At I was a little rusty.
Speaker 1 (45:33):
I'm not in studio, so I didn't have my my
I wasn't in the zone. And then I got it
back there. I had to put a little more in
it there there. So but it's just just all a rollout.
This is just publicity. I got my new America's team out.
Speaker 3 (45:46):
I got this. Oops, my bad, Mica.
Speaker 1 (45:47):
At the end of the end of this, sorry, buddy,
here's your money, and then we just get.
Speaker 6 (45:50):
Back to no a little bit. But no, here's what happened.
I really believe, talking base on the people I've spoken with,
Jerry thought he pull fast one on doing the negotiations
with Micah, and you know, Micah put in a statement
you know, as you know that it was never a deal.
Jerry thought there was a deal and he wanted to
(46:11):
stick it to Micah and his agent, David Mulligedo, is
a really good contract agent, certainly top three, one of
the best, and he wanted to stick it to him.
But what's the point of it. You're only damaging your
club let's say he signs by money, which I think
is realistic. Yes, he's been there the whole time. He
hasn't practiced yet. Yep, it's carry. Let's answer this question
(46:33):
for me.
Speaker 1 (46:34):
Yeah, how quickly.
Speaker 6 (46:35):
Could you get ready for a game on Thursday? If
you signed by Monday.
Speaker 5 (46:40):
You won't be playing in that game. It just you can't.
I was just telling Kelvin about it. So why Yeah,
because you have to ramp up. There's a nutrition that
needs to happen for your body to get ready to
play football. And so even like in old the olden
days when I played, I call it olden days now,
like your body had to go through these wars, like
it's almost like a war. We're a attrition right where
(47:02):
your body has to become callous to all of the
contact and all the running and the cutting that you
have to do to get ready to play a game.
And if you're not doing that for a whole year,
like all lea'byon Bell did when he held out in Pittsburgh,
your test, you're never the same.
Speaker 4 (47:16):
It's hard to do. It's hard.
Speaker 6 (47:19):
Good stuff.
Speaker 1 (47:19):
Man.
Speaker 6 (47:19):
I'm just curious because when Chris Jones, remember he didn't
get his contract until Week one. He didn't play in
that first game. You can't do that's good stuff. Yeah,
I was just curious, how what you thought about.
Speaker 3 (47:29):
That, Adam.
Speaker 1 (47:31):
I would asking this to our guest that we've had
over the last week or so. It was a gear
up getting closer to the start of the regular season.
We kind of have the top tier teams, we know
what we expect big things from, whether it be the Ravens,
whether it be the.
Speaker 3 (47:46):
Chiefs, and so on and so forth.
Speaker 1 (47:48):
It is a team right now, maybe in that second
tier that you look at and you say, don't sleep
on them, or I expect maybe.
Speaker 3 (47:54):
More from them than some other folks do.
Speaker 1 (47:57):
Oh yeah, Seattle Seahawks.
Speaker 6 (47:59):
Now they didn't make the play else last year they
were ten and seven, which actually is pretty good.
Speaker 3 (48:03):
My headphones were I sound like you said, the Seattle Seahawks.
Speaker 6 (48:05):
I couldn't see. Yeah, Seattle, I I really look. They didn't
make it last year, they were ten and seven, didn't
make it. I believe they're gonna get a really good
quarterback play from from Sam Darnold, who came out of
nowhere last season becoming actually a good NFL quarterback. He's
going to play in the same scheme. I believe they're
gonna they're going to surprise some people every year, guys,
(48:26):
you know this, teams come out of nowhere, like boy,
I didn't see that coming. Yep, maybe Denford. I know
Steve Hartman. Thought i'd give Steve credit. I didn't see
that at all. With Devil last year, that was it
a great calls. It always happened. Seattle will be one again.
They did not make a playoffs last year. I didn't
see Washington last year. Nobody saw that. I love Daniels,
but I didn't think they'd be a playoff team. Now,
before we get out of or heard what you guys
(48:47):
said before I came on, I think Carrie thinks he'll
take a step back. I want to ask carry this question.
Why do you think they'll take a step back?
Speaker 5 (48:54):
Yeah, last year, the schedule was a little bit easier,
a little bit lighter. This year schedule, schedule a little tougher.
They also have that thing where you have a rookie
quarterback that takes the league bus storm. You don't have
a lot of film on him as a defensive coordinator.
Now you know what he likes to do. Washington's gonna
have to pivot and make some adjustments. And so I
want to see how how they how they handle that,
(49:16):
and how he handles it as well, and how he
handles success, because that's the other thing too, Like once
you get some success in the league, to rest on
your laurels is a big thing for some players. And
I want to see how he takes that next step.
Speaker 6 (49:27):
And it happens a lot. Sometimes you don't get a
good enough froster yep and so forth. But get Hi
McLaury done. When I was with him last Thursday, I
will tell you this and one of the reasons why
they know they had to get something done. You take
mclorinoff that football team. It's deebo is an older player,
big injury history. I know he's had a great camp,
he looks great, but he's not a true extra shoot.
He's not a guy who's gonna line up with Kerry
(49:48):
you know, Yeah, you got you got to reduce him.
He can't really play outside like McLaurin can. They have
no I'm telling you they're not very deep at receiver.
That that's where I thought McLaurin had leverage. I know
he didn't get what he wanted he still did well
in his contract, and well, I think it's tight. If
you look at the odds, I think it's much tighter.
And remember no one is repeating that divisions and so
(50:09):
forthwhich is absurd, but it's true.
Speaker 1 (50:11):
Right, Yeah, and you wonder too with obviously we talk
about the fifty three man rosters being trimmed down to
that today, there are you know, some receivers out there
that maybe they can go and get and get some
depth to that receiving core, because again, you want to
give Jaden all the opportunities and all the weapons you
can give him as he goes into his sophomore season.
Speaker 3 (50:27):
Adam, thank you so much.
Speaker 1 (50:28):
Man.
Speaker 3 (50:28):
We appreciate it.
Speaker 1 (50:29):
Appreciate Adam enjoyed it. Thanks guys. You all right. Carrie
