Rob and Kelvin debate whether last night's virtuoso performances by 'old guys' Aaron Rodgers and Joe Flacco were an indictment of the young quarterbacks who continue to struggle like Justin Fields,  and debate whether or not it’s fair to say that the Los Angeles Dodgers aren’t good enough at the plate (or in the bullpen) to win the World Series. Plus, former NFL quarterback and FOX Sports Radio NFL analyst Shaun King swings by to discuss all the biggest headlines around the NFL heading into Week 7.

said you don't need a swag no more. Oh no,

all for the next forty years.

Speaker 3 (02:28):

That's sweet, Bro Willing, that's sweet. Now let me see

There it is.

Speaker 6 (02:40):
Oh, thank you boy was looking good. It was holding
that blazer y'all. Gonna get this blazer on press box day.
You already know that that was the blades I hadn't worn.
I bought it at Noustrums like a year ago. Yeah,
and I was like, I need this for a special
occasion and it did come.

Speaker 2 (02:56):
All right, let's welcome in the odd Coupled crew because
you were be able to do this fine radio program
without him. Alex is our engineer, Rob g of course
is our producer, and Brandon is here as well to
help out. My man Elijah is our social media guru.

(03:17):
Of them, there you go, and of course Steve the
Segre tank a desk. He'll keep us updated throughout the program.
And let me give you a little update before we
get cranking here. One nothing, thank you, Seattle. One nothing
Seattle swore as I think hit a solo blast. That
was it so far. I think we'll go to the
fourth inning and one nothing Seattle. They need to win.

(03:40):
They can't lose three straight games after winning two on
the road. Like it counts, that's right, I mean, it
really is like they really have to win. And obviously
later on tonight, starting at eight thirty eight Eastern time,
it's the Dodgers hosting the hapless Milwaukee Brewers, who.

Speaker 6 (03:59):
Are what happened six and oh against the Dodgers in
the regular season.

Speaker 4 (04:02):
Not only that, and they won all those games.

Speaker 2 (04:04):
In the regular season, they were at one point, I
think they had a stretch where they were twenty nine
to four, which is unheard of in Major League Baseball
to win at that kind of clip, right, and they
left it all in the regular season. This team has
had trouble in the postseason. They did get out of
the first, you know, first round of playoffs, a division round,

(04:26):
but they've scuffled. They just haven't been able to put
hits together, haven't been able to score so only three
runs in the three games. That tells you all you
need to know. So tonight, do or die? I expect
them to win. Show he's going to be on the mound.
Uh maybe they beat the bullpen tonight and salvage one way.

Speaker 3 (04:47):
You're saying you expect the Brewers.

Speaker 4 (04:48):
Yeah, I do. I do. I expect them.

Speaker 2 (04:50):
I do expect them to win one game, and I
want them to win for one reason. I want the
workers at Dodger Stadium to have another workday.

Speaker 4 (04:58):
Which would be Saturday. That simple. I'm looking out for
the way.

Speaker 3 (05:04):
Are you looking out for the employment? Are you being
me and you wanted to work?

Speaker 4 (05:06):
Which, No, I'm looking out for them so that they
have a workday. They don't get paid unless they work
the day.

Speaker 3 (05:13):
Don't try to, don't try to.

Speaker 6 (05:14):
Don't try to perfume up your hate for the Dodgers
by trying to say you're a man of the people.

Speaker 3 (05:19):
No, don't do that.

Speaker 2 (05:21):
I was on the shuttle bus when you know, with
the media, and you got to go down a lot
and take the shuttle and all the employees were like,
we want the Dodgers to win, but not in four games.

Speaker 4 (05:31):
And I was like, okay, I do get that.

Speaker 6 (05:33):
Okay, it makes sense two three games for us that
were missing.

Speaker 2 (05:39):
Right, Like they that's a payday. They don't get paid
if they's not, like they're on salary. And whether it's three,
two games or three, they're getting paid, then of course
you want it to be over in four.

Speaker 6 (05:50):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (05:51):
I feel like you got some hitting agenda.

Speaker 4 (05:54):
I'm not a hitting the agenda guy.

Speaker 2 (05:55):
I'm all right, hey, uh start here, man? What a
game that was turned out to be?

Speaker 6 (06:03):
It was the icy hot ball ended up being Hey,
we'll hope we'll get a Super Bowl like.

Speaker 4 (06:08):
That, No doubt it was really really something.

Speaker 2 (06:13):
But I gotta say this, and it really is an
indictment of young quarterbacks. And now, Kelvin, this is the
point I've been trying to make to you for a while.
And I know you're always talking about trying to identify
your guy. I want justin Field so I know I
have a guy for the next few years and whatnot.
But there's a reason these forty year old guys are

(06:33):
still out there and why teams are still willing to
go this route. And we saw it on display. They
can still play. They can play. They they know how
to read defenses, they know how to throw accurately. I mean, like,
if you're justin Fields or some of these young quarterbacks

(06:54):
where teams are looking and going, what Joe Flatco. You
can't stand Joe Flatco. You can't stand Aaron Rodgers. You're
the anti AARP guy in the NFL. That's who you are.
And I've been telling you there's a reason the Steelers lost.

(07:15):
They gave up a million yards defensively, whatever, But Aaron
Rodgers do four touchdowns, gave him the lead with two
minutes to go on a sixty eight yard bomb whatever
and all that stuff. They still lost, But you get
My point is that having a veteran quarterback who can
run a team know what they're doing, is valuable, and

(07:37):
half the teams in the league would give up those
young guys for an experienced quarterback who can help them win.

Speaker 4 (07:44):
Now, I understand, long term.

Speaker 2 (07:47):
We're not talking about the first overall pick and you're
gonna ride or die no matter how terrible he is.
But there are a lot of teams with a lot
of so so, middle of the road quarterbacks who just
on as good as what we saw last night.

Speaker 6 (08:04):
You know what Joe Flacco had before he joined the
Bengals two touchdowns and six interceptions. Stop acting like that's
Joe Namath or Joe Montana. Joe Flacco waka flaka Flacco
was excellent last night.

Speaker 3 (08:18):
He has had a really good career.

Speaker 6 (08:21):
There's nothing negative to say, But to act like that
was Joe Flacco two weeks ago in Cleveland, that wasn't that.

Speaker 3 (08:28):
And to act like Aaron Rodgers.

Speaker 6 (08:30):
Was the Aaron Rodgers we've known for all the years,
and with the Jets, it was not that, Which leads
me to my point of why I disagree with what
you're saying, I think we've learned more than ever that
we've always thought, and now I think we know it's
about where you land. Joe Flacco wasn't this high pick.

(08:50):
He wasn't at some Ohio state Alabama. He didn't go
to one of the blue bloff big schools. But people
saw he was big, had a big arm he could throw,
and he gets trapped in and he lands with the
Ravens where he could be in a great situation where
he could learn, where their defense was incredible, they had
a great running game, and he was able to grow
mature under what a well run organization.

Speaker 3 (09:11):
Aaron Rodgers is incredibly talented, as we all know.

Speaker 6 (09:14):
That's why I was so mind boggling he dropped so
far because everybody saw that, and he's just amazing. Might
be the top one, two three most talented we've ever seen.

Speaker 3 (09:23):
And you know what he happened to do.

Speaker 6 (09:24):
He went to the Green Bay Packers, a wonderful organization
where he could continue to grow, continue to learn, and
then blossom and be great. My point is, I think
some of these young guys falling horrible situation.

Speaker 2 (09:36):
Alright to pay manning go where to pay Manning go
and throw twenty and throw twenty eight touchdowns his first year.
I think that's the biggest cop out that the only
way you could have success is you have to go
to a good organization. The Cincinnati Bengals had lost seven
straight playoff games and they couldn't win a playoff game

(09:58):
to save their lives.

Speaker 4 (10:00):
And people said, Joe Burrow, don't go there.

Speaker 2 (10:03):
Tell the Bengals before they draft you that you don't
want to play in Cincinnati. Hold out, tell them you
want to go somewhere else. And guess what, He went
there and took them to a super Bowl his second season.

Speaker 4 (10:17):
So you be a part of the solution.

Speaker 3 (10:20):
I'm glad you did that, part of us. You just
name you know what you just did.

Speaker 6 (10:23):
You named a Heisman candidate and Peyton one of the
all time greats.

Speaker 3 (10:28):
Yeah and winner good.

Speaker 6 (10:30):
And I know what I'm saying is you literally named
one of the top maybe four or five quarterbacks of
all time. And when he went to a bad tip
tip Joe Burrow, who was also a number one pick.
My simple point is I'm not saying that all quarterbacks
are ever going to be good. Some quarterbacks are just
going to be terrible, just like players in the NBA.

(10:50):
Just like some mob guys will never cut it. That's
an absolute fact. Some guys will never be good. Some
guys are gonna go to be great. My point is,
sometimes you can go to a situation that was not
the best for you, where it was not a volatile situation.
Coaches a fire GMS, doesn't know what he's doing, doesn't
have anything around you.

Speaker 3 (11:08):
And that's what you see.

Speaker 6 (11:08):
If Joe Flacco went from an offense that doesn't know
what they're doing and they don't have guys around per
se to now go on to offense as loaded because
they just signed a bunch offensive players.

Speaker 3 (11:16):
So all I'm saying is situations can determine that.

Speaker 6 (11:19):
So I'm not gonna say because the icy hot ball
ended up being relatively entertaining and good that all of
a sudden, Joe Flacco is the man and if you
put him on any in any team, he's gonna shine.

Speaker 3 (11:31):
We saw he did not with kle No.

Speaker 4 (11:32):
But he can play, is mid you asked?

Speaker 2 (11:35):
The point is that you're you're the one waving the
flag for Justin Yes, because you think that it's better
to have a guy that you're gonna know for the
next four years.

Speaker 4 (11:46):
No, I don't care about.

Speaker 6 (11:47):
You're a good guys, the no, no, no, who's gonna
be my lads, Guess what we found out?

Speaker 3 (11:56):
Don't need to guess tonight.

Speaker 2 (11:58):
I don't gotta care about next year. And guess what
we're doing about tonight.

Speaker 6 (12:02):
Guess what we found out. We just found out justin
fields and a guy. My point was play him. He's forward,
to see what you got and if he's terribly, he's terrible.
See what you got has always been my point to you.
Joe Flacco, I.

Speaker 3 (12:14):
Literally know what is you. Let me see what Dylan Gabriel.

Speaker 4 (12:18):
They want you in practice.

Speaker 2 (12:19):
You let me see what Gabriel is more than you
play in the NFL.

Speaker 3 (12:23):
I don't give a thing about it. We're talking about practice.

Speaker 6 (12:27):
We're not talking about a game, not a game.

Speaker 3 (12:29):
That I love.

Speaker 6 (12:30):
You're talking about practice. Dylan Gabriel, let me see if
he's good. Shadoor Sanders, let me see if they're good.
Joe Flacco is exactly what we thought about. A very capable,
professional guy who I'm not going anywhere with the Bagels.
Ain't all of a sudden about to go to the
Super Bowl. Deep playoff run.

Speaker 4 (12:46):
That's just what this conversation was.

Speaker 2 (12:48):
You missed the whole point of it, because that's not
talking about a deep run. I'm talking about taking a
quarterback that that can play for you now.

Speaker 4 (12:57):
And that's what we what and what are you mean
to what? Win?

Speaker 3 (13:04):
Wilson?

Speaker 2 (13:04):
No, give yourself a chance to win, is what I'm
trying to say to you.

Speaker 4 (13:07):
That's what it. That's why these logo five and well
and I.

Speaker 6 (13:12):
Still don't know if I have a quarterback and I'm
looking for a quarterback again. That's why those guys are stupid.

Speaker 4 (13:18):
That's why they're playing in.

Speaker 6 (13:19):
There because Joe Burrow is is That's why my whole
guy still in the league is what I'm talking about.

Speaker 2 (13:25):
Why Tom Brady played till he was forty five, he's
playing seven ninety nine on Fox eight seven seven nine
nine six sixty three sixty nine.

Speaker 4 (13:37):
And it's pretty simple.

Speaker 2 (13:38):
Was last night's performance by Joe Flacco and Aaron Rodgers
an indictment of young quarterbacks like a justin Fields.

Speaker 4 (13:45):
We'll continue that conversation next with you.

Speaker 2 (13:47):

Speaker 6 (15:41):
Wait, maybe no, you don't. Yeah, you don't add the
way bo? How do you spell it?

Speaker 2 (15:46):
I should know it because I heard that you love
the song Forever, the Oscar Meyers song.

Speaker 4 (15:51):
My Bologney has a first name.

Speaker 7 (15:57):
Here we go, Rob, I could okay, m A y
E R.

Speaker 2 (16:11):
Say has a way with b O l O n
g A.

Speaker 6 (16:19):
Yeah, you're always off. You miss you miss a letter.
I think it's another.

Speaker 3 (16:22):
Oh I don't know. I can't.

Speaker 6 (16:24):
I can't hear them and you but you're missing, You're
missing the letter. You're finishing. You're finishing earlier than the kids.

Speaker 2 (16:31):
I'm not genius, So what I went to Colombia in
southern Connecticut.

Speaker 4 (16:35):
I'm just saying where you teaching right now? I teach
at USC Okay.

Speaker 3 (16:39):
Hopefully they don't listen to the show. They might have
to reconsider some things.

Speaker 2 (16:41):
Yeah, they're just might two to one Toronto, my goodness, gracious,
two to one, trying to win three games in a
row in Seattle after losing the first two at home.
And you remember Seattle bashed them in game two? What
they scored nine? Yeah in that game, and now they've
been scuffling?

Speaker 3 (17:02):
How scared are the fans?

Speaker 5 (17:03):
Like? Oh you kidding? Good?

Speaker 3 (17:05):
Were good? It's a long games. It's the sixth inning.

Speaker 4 (17:09):
I mean they got four at bats.

Speaker 2 (17:11):
Okay, so there and and the thing is, and I'm
not trying to make an excuse, but the Blue Jays
have Uh it's two to one and it was one one.
And if you're a Seattle fan, you gotta say, well,
we had to score one run even we're gonna win
the game, right like you had to score you weren't
gonna win one one. So at some point they had

(17:32):
to score a run. Okay, Toronto scored a run. You
gotta get a bloop in the blast. You gotta do
something here. Why can't they just get a double in
a single. It's unbelievable when you come to the postseason,
I know.

Speaker 3 (17:43):
But there in lies even listen to our conversation.

Speaker 2 (17:47):
That's why are we're doing it exactly, which is that
the Dodgers are not n ot going to win a
World Series hitting the way that they've hit. And I'm
telling you, uh, they've been very fortunate even in those
games because they've gotten unbelievable pitching.

Speaker 4 (18:05):
Would you agree with that unbelievable.

Speaker 3 (18:07):
That that's been remarkable?

Speaker 6 (18:09):
I have a feel, I mean, if it continues on
this trend, we're gonna be like that will be a
conversation for decades to come.

Speaker 2 (18:16):
But I'm looking at it going. They've scored ten runs
right in the three games, eight have been knocked in.
Two came in on a base I think a baseload
of walking, one on an era to pick off at
first base. So I'm gonna say they got eight runs
right like the old fashioned way. Eight runs in three games,

(18:38):
which is less than three runs a game. Now, that's
great when you're pitching is giving up one run a game?

Speaker 4 (18:43):
Right, So that's why you're up three to oho.

Speaker 2 (18:46):
This series should not be three to ohero to be honest,
because they haven't done enough damage. And when you look
at like show Hay, who I know let off for
the triple yesterday and that was good.

Speaker 4 (18:58):
But we saw Kelvin.

Speaker 2 (18:59):
We watch the games every night, okay, and you know
we look at each other with some of these strikeouts.

Speaker 4 (19:05):
At one point, I don't know where he is now.

Speaker 2 (19:07):
So I'm gonna give you the number that I do
know for sure, not factoring in yesterday, right, but he
had struck out fifteen out of thirty four bats. That's
show hal Tani, fifteen out of thirty four bats.

Speaker 4 (19:22):
He's bet like, what is he bad? In one fifty,
one forty?

Speaker 6 (19:25):
It's bad, it's bad. He got that triple yesterday, but
it's bad.

Speaker 2 (19:28):
But it's been bad and a lot of other guys
aren't hitting. There's not a lot of hitting going on
for the Dodgers. They've gotten a couple of timely hits.

Speaker 3 (19:35):
What you need.

Speaker 2 (19:35):
You got a home run by Freddie Freeman, which is big,
but it hasn't been an explosion and maybe it will.
But I'm just saying, when you look at Toronto the
way they swing the bats, say, if it's Toronto in
the World Series, you're gonna have to score some runs.
Would you agree with that? Like, like, I know you

(19:56):
want to believe that they're gonna get a shutout or
give up one run every night.

Speaker 4 (20:00):
I just don't think that you can live off of that.

Speaker 2 (20:02):
You gotta manufacture score more runs, get some timely hits.
The playoffs are always about starting pitching, right mm hm,
timely hitting and and and you know, and and and
and and they.

Speaker 4 (20:21):
Need to do that. They just haven't done enough of it.

Speaker 3 (20:24):
They have it. There's no argument. They would not sit
here defense.

Speaker 6 (20:28):
Yeah, even even though they're eight and one, they wouldn't
sit up here and be like, we're playing amazing baseball right.
This is year right, Dave Roberts is just you know,
his said, the bulk of our strength right now and
our success is our starting pitching. And this is why
I will disagree with your sentiment specifically this team and theory.

Speaker 3 (20:51):
I get what you're saying.

Speaker 6 (20:52):
The reason I disagree with you specifically with the Dodgers
is because it's not like they have too good guys
like two big time aces and then you know he's mid,
but you know, you hope you can get back to
your starter, like maybe you're the Tigers or something like that,
or a handful of other teams where you got a
guy or two and then it's you're just hoping to
get back to them. They legitimately have four starters, and

(21:15):
that is where they are the difference. Like, Okay, yes,
Toronto or the Mariners have hitting the ball pretty well,
but we know in the postseason if I got guys
that I can go out there six, seven, maybe eight innings,
that's just a lot to deal with. That changes your
approach and it changes your mentality. For if you're the
hitters of the other posing teams, and specifically with the

(21:36):
Dodgers offense, they have the luxury of getting it right
because the score stays low for them because their starters
are doing so well that they feel like, I'm gonna
get that timely hit at some point, and they have
they get the timely hit because they're too deep. Dude,
Eventually Max Muntsey's gonna do And who thought that Max
Munty will be the all time leader in Dodgers postseason history.

(21:58):
Then you got, of course home runs, home runs, specifically
home runs, yeah, my bet. Then Mookie Bets, who has
been actually performing well throughout the postseason, Will Smith, Freddie
Freddie Freeman, Taoskar Hernandez.

Speaker 3 (22:09):
There's too many bats.

Speaker 6 (22:10):
And when the score remains low, one of those guys
are gonna get a time to hit. I agree, they're
not gonna score maybe six seven runs, but they're gonna
get a hit or two, or you're gonna have to
walk show hey, and Mookie's gonna get a double and
he's gonna score. It's just they have too many guys
rob in that lineup that I agree. They're not putting
up big, gaudy numbers, but they get enough timely offense.

Speaker 3 (22:33):
That's why they're keep one.

Speaker 2 (22:35):
Here's the thing, and here's where I disagree, is you're
playing a dangerous game where every pitcher has to be
almost perfect in order for you to win, because all
it takes is a bloop and a blast and you
could have lost. The Dodgers could be down to the
one because they just haven't scored a lot of runs.
Even yesterday when they won, it was one to one

(22:56):
and they got two runs on a pick a bad
pickoff in a and another play.

Speaker 4 (23:00):
Do you know what I'm saying?

Speaker 2 (23:01):
Like yesterday could have easily turned and been a win
for the Brewers had they got a couple of hits
or or things, or they played cleaner baseball and didn't
throw the ball around and throw the ball away, So
you're not while it looks overwhelming one way three to nothing,
they were. They lost Game one two to one and

(23:22):
ended the game with the bases loaded against the bullpen.

Speaker 3 (23:25):
Am I right?

Speaker 4 (23:25):
Like, so there's two games out of.

Speaker 2 (23:28):
The three that the Brewers were right there, and that's
what I'm saying, Like, offensively, they gotta get it going.

Speaker 3 (23:35):
What's what's the number for you?

Speaker 6 (23:36):
Like that that you were saying, It's like, no, I'm
really just like like you say, X amount of runs
is an offensive explosion to get to They know.

Speaker 2 (23:46):
If they could get six runs or something, sure, and
they had five in Game two. But I'm saying, you're
playing a dangerous game where your pitcher feels like he
has to almost pitch seven or eight innings and can
only give up no run a one run.

Speaker 4 (24:01):
Do you know, Like that's a that's a hard thing
to do the entire time.

Speaker 3 (24:06):
Here's here's the here's the benchmark.

Speaker 6 (24:08):
The reason I ask you that because I'm looking at
last year's scores and what they're gonna have to do
I think is get around where they were then. So
I meaning it can't be one, two, maybe even three runs.
Last season in the World Series against obviously the Yankees.
They had six runs, four runs, four runs, four runs,
and then seven runs.

Speaker 2 (24:27):
This is what I'm saying, like, look at those numbers, okay,
and this one it was two to one.

Speaker 4 (24:32):
They won the game one game two five one.

Speaker 2 (24:34):
That was a good win right there and everything. Uh,
and then they won three to what was it yesterday?

Speaker 4 (24:38):
Three to one? A four to one.

Speaker 3 (24:39):
I'm just through it was three, I believe, wasn't it.
I have to look at I think it was three
if I'm not mistaken.

Speaker 4 (24:44):
Maybe they attacked up run on late? Was it four?

Speaker 2 (24:48):
But you get My point is that at one point, uh,
they haven't scored.

Speaker 4 (24:52):
They scored ten runs.

Speaker 3 (24:54):
Yeah it was three one yesterday it was three one.

Speaker 4 (24:55):
It was okay, So so you look at that, Yeah,
that's it.

Speaker 2 (24:59):
That's right because that's ten, right, and two of them
came the non traditional way as what I'm saying, like,
they knocked in eight that's less than three runs a game.
In none of those World Series games did they have
three runs or less than three runs.

Speaker 4 (25:13):
The production is down, That's what I'm saying to you.

Speaker 6 (25:16):
Well, I know, I ain't no denying that, And a
large part of that is you're expecting Showhy doesn't have
to be you know, all world but he's not. He's
performing at this level of you know of inept two.
But what I'm saying is if they can get the
four runs three of the three of the five games
at four runs last World Series, four runs is very

(25:39):
doable with that offensive line and then four shit suffice
with the way those pitchers are pitching. Now, you might
lose a game, they have a big game either you
lose seven to four.

Speaker 3 (25:48):
But I'm saying that pitching is at a level right.

Speaker 6 (25:50):
Now that I think we're gonna be having conversations for
the next decades.

Speaker 3 (25:55):
Remember that.

Speaker 2 (25:55):
But on the five we're also looking at a juggernaut.
The Blue Jays beat up the Yankee pitching. The blue
Jays have beat up the Mariners since they went to Seattle.
All I'm saying is if it's Toronto, they haven't been
scoring three runs or less. They have been bald swinging bats,
is what I'm saying. But I get the pitching.

Speaker 6 (26:17):
Yeah, but the Phillies that had some you know, big
bats and they only had they went three, then they
had a big game eight, but then they go to one.
You know, the Brewers that beat They had the best
record in all the baseball They had a bunch of
guys who just hit pretty well.

Speaker 3 (26:28):
Two runs, they got one run, one run, one run.
So like I understand, they have.

Speaker 2 (26:36):
Big bats, but I'm saying, where the Blue Jays are
swinging the bat right now?

Speaker 4 (26:39):
That's all I'm saying.

Speaker 6 (26:40):
I know, but I'm mentioning these teams who have had
better offensive performances and they just have not been able
to produce against the Dodgers. So I told listen, if
I'm the Dodgers, I'm not coming into this going boy,
I tell you I want to win every game two
to one, three to one. But I'm saying that's a
wonderful thing to have in my back pocket, that my
starters keep the game right around two one is here's.

Speaker 4 (27:03):
The other thing that you're not taking a consideration. And
I hear you.

Speaker 2 (27:06):
If you bring the bullpen, I okay, there you go
in the bullpen, which almost blue game one after this,
brilliant stay focused, we'll be talking about.

Speaker 3 (27:14):
Okay, there you go, stay focused. If you ring at
the bullpen, I ain't got much of it.

Speaker 6 (27:18):
They've been better, obviously, but we've seen horrible for the
last month from them.

Speaker 3 (27:21):
So that's at the end of the regular season.

Speaker 4 (27:24):
No doubt.

Speaker 2 (27:24):
And finally Seattle is threatening two more, two out, sixth inning,
two for twenty nine with runners in scoring position.

Speaker 4 (27:35):
And they got a man on second. Here's your key hit.

Speaker 2 (27:38):
You know what I mean that you need at some
points moment you can't make, you gotta you gotta be
able to knock in runs during these time.

Speaker 4 (27:45):
Uh So it's a it's a tough moment there for.

Speaker 6 (27:48):
People who's a Dodger fans probably according to him, this
has been terrible baseball.

Speaker 3 (27:53):
Remember, he's like, I don't like he's gotta be a
bunch of runs.

Speaker 6 (27:57):
So he's been enjoying the ALCS versus the NLS holds out.

Speaker 2 (28:00):
All right eight seven seven ninety nine on Fox eight
seven seven nine nine six sixty three sixty nine. Is
the Dodger offense good enough to win a World Series?

Speaker 4 (28:10):
The offense good enough?

Speaker 2 (28:11):
We know the pitching is or is the pitching so
good that it won't even matter?

Speaker 4 (28:16):
We'll continue that conversation next with you.

Speaker 2 (28:18):
It is the odd couple on a Funky Flashback Friday,
Rob Parker kelvin Washington right here on Fox Sports Radio,
Stick and stay if you too want the Dodger staff
to make a little more money in the.

Speaker 3 (28:33):
Fox Sports Radio has the best sports talk lineup in
the nation yet.

Speaker 6 (28:36):
The King Shawking, former NFL quarterback Fox Sports Radio headfil
and on real shot game, what's.

Speaker 5 (28:42):
Up man Brewers in seven?

Speaker 4 (28:45):
Wow? Wow, that's a hot shot.

Speaker 6 (28:48):
My headphones weren't working. I thought you said Brewers and seven.
I couldn't hear you.

Speaker 5 (28:52):
That's a hot Brewers in seven.

Speaker 4 (28:54):
Wow.

Speaker 3 (28:55):
Stop it.

Speaker 4 (28:56):
That is a hot take.

Speaker 6 (28:57):
You do know they'd have to go back through that
starting lineup again, starting pictures again.

Speaker 2 (29:01):
Hey, let me say this to you, Sean after last
night's ICEE Hot Bowl, are you ready to return to
the NFL and play quarterback?

Speaker 5 (29:09):
I mean what I am is if I go back,
I don't want to go to the Cleveland Browns or
what a functional organization? Mate? Or Joe Flack?

Speaker 4 (29:20):
What did you make of that? Last night?

Speaker 2 (29:21):
Those were two guys man Aaron Rodgers and Joe Flynn
put on a show that was That was an entertaining game.

Speaker 5 (29:28):
There, it really was. And what I would do is
if I was coaching the NFL, I would break down
the film and show it to my young quarterback.

Speaker 4 (29:36):
There you go, go ahead, tell Calvin, tell them go ahead.

Speaker 5 (29:40):
I would show the young quarterback that this is what
I tell you the quarterback position, like you throw the
ball in rhythm on time with great ball, Thank you r.

Speaker 6 (29:51):
You know the best part about this is Sean, wait,
who are you showing to take to say the gear?
Who are you showing to take young quarterbacks? The guys
who can playing right? The way you're showing it to
young quarterbacks? Why because they're the ones playing, They're the
one starting. No, nobody want Joe Flackgoh they do.

Speaker 2 (30:07):
And showing my point is this is why older guys
get to stick around because they know how to play
the position. There's fifteen teams that need a quarterback, and
what if they get upgrade? There's so many bad quarterbacks
in the league. Am I wrong?

Speaker 5 (30:23):
And for context, I wouldn't do it as a we
can replace you. I would do it as a teaching tool.
So for kind of a visual representation of what I'm
talking about. When the coordinator calls plays and the ball
comes out when it's supposed to the person it's supposed
to go to, and it's a catchable football. That's why
I feel like a lot of these young quarterbacks struggle

(30:44):
because so much of what they do is throwing screens,
throwing RPOs, running around trying to create explosive plays. They
never get really good at just throwing the ball in
rhythm from the pocket. And that's what you saw last.

Speaker 6 (30:57):
Night, right And they did a great job of that.
And you mentioned too, I brought up I mean, you're
looking at Joe Flacco two touchdown, six interceptions with the Browns.
Now he's got five hundred or six hundred yards in
two games with the Bengos, totally bringing out, you know,
the best version of him. I want to go to
some of the games we got coming up this weekend.

Speaker 5 (31:14):
I start here with a can I make one more
point from that game last night? I would also show
my quarterbacks, whoever I jamar Chase is this is what
you do from a decision making standpoint when we get
man to man, and I thought Flaco would get an
excellent job of throwing the ball to his best receiver

(31:36):
in man situations. If I had Jalen, I would show
Jalen that tape because I had, you know, Jackson, I
know million meighbors is hurt, but if I had some
of these young guys, I would show them what a
veteran does when you have an elite player at wide receiver.
I would show it to J. J. McCarthy. Listen, when
we get maned and we got Jefferson matched up, he's
just as good as Chase throwing the ball.

Speaker 3 (31:59):
Yeah.

Speaker 6 (32:00):
You shouldn't have to convince them either. Right, those dudes
are insanely talented. Let me go here, Sean. I'm looking
at this game right here, Eagles at Vikings.

Speaker 3 (32:09):
It's a big game for both teams.

Speaker 6 (32:11):
Obviously is they continue to try to rise up the
NFC ranks. But Vikings defense, we know has been good
Carson Wentz, you know, little maybe get back game from
the old team that had them.

Speaker 3 (32:21):
What are you looking at from this one? From the Eagles?

Speaker 6 (32:22):
We know offensively they've been struggling bottom of the league
and running bottom of the league and passing, and they're
going up against a really good Brian Florence defense. They
been hearing the noise, to be hearing all the arguments
and players meetings.

Speaker 3 (32:35):
What are they going to do to this week?

Speaker 5 (32:37):
I'm on the Vikings in this game, like I'm fading
the Eagles until I see something different. It's interest in
the body language of the Eagles looks a lot like
the body language of the Ravens. And this happens in
pro sports. When everybody's gotten paid, it starts being a
lot harder to self analyze, to self evaluate, to really

(32:58):
focus on doing your job, you know. And I think
that's the worst fear with the Eagles, even when they
were undefeated, when you look at the the inside the stats,
they they were getting outstaated, but that they were kind
of getting fortunate. You know. Blockfield goal here, blockfield goals called.

Speaker 2 (33:13):
That's called football man, you know what, Sean, I take
exception to that. And I'm gonna be honest because I
hear that all the time, you know. And and it's
about winning and lose. We could do that all day.
Tom Brady fumbled the ball against the Raiders. Guess what,
Tom Brady has a Super Bowl off that play, right,
We could do that. I've seen it over and over.

(33:36):
We could do that with everybody. It's still about wins
and losses. And if we're gonna play that game, I
could take away so many Super Bowls from people and
situations and NBA Finals because they had three players injured
and Bill Buckner had a ball go through his legs.

Speaker 4 (33:52):
You know what I mean. I could do that all day.

Speaker 5 (33:54):
I guess my pushbacks for you would be did the
Raiders outstat the Pats in that game?

Speaker 2 (34:00):
But my point is I'm just saying, like the idea that, oh,
well the Eagles they got a black food field goal.

Speaker 4 (34:06):
No, that that's football.

Speaker 5 (34:07):
Yeah they did, but I put I put contacts on
by saying they were outstatic, which means the opposition had
more total yards of offense.

Speaker 2 (34:15):
That doesn't win games. It's about how many points you scored.
You could have as many status as you want.

Speaker 5 (34:21):
It speaks to the process, though, right. The process matters
in sports, whether it be football, whether it be basketball
in the NBA. If you have a game where you
shoot twenty of twenty five from three, you're probably gonna win.
But that's not sustainable over a long period of time.
So all I'm saying is the efficiency that the Eagles
have operated with at times, especially running the football, playing

(34:42):
great field position, you know, situational football. I didn't see
that this year. They're not running the football at the
level they were.

Speaker 2 (34:50):
I understand that, I'm not. I just don't whenever I
hear about, Oh, they're a block pour of block field
goal and something else away from having only two.

Speaker 4 (35:00):
So what, but whatever you can, but you can do
that the other way. You can do it the otherware way.

Speaker 5 (35:04):
The source matters. This isn't coming from some talking here.
This is coming from I guess you have on your
show that played and coached. So I'm giving you my perspective,
perception of my perception of what I'm seeing. Can they
fix it? Yes? My point is until I see them
fix it, I'm gonna fave it.

Speaker 2 (35:22):
So you're saying the Eagles are not going to make
the playoffs and they're a bad team.

Speaker 5 (35:26):
No, you can't ever say to the National Football League
at this point in the season. It's too much football, right,
there's a lot to go. Yeah, they're just not as
efficient as they have been in the previous seasons. So
until I see that efficiency, I'm gonna save them.

Speaker 4 (35:39):
Okay, Uh.

Speaker 2 (35:40):
If the Jets lose again and they get embarrassed, I
can't let it go. Because Aaron Glenn was he knows,
he knows everything, and he's gonna set up the culture
and he's kicking he cut two part returners or whatever.
Kickoff returners, all that minutia and stuff that doesn't matter
if they blown out again. Where are you, Aaron Glen

(36:02):
Just you're gonna let him ride it out for the
next year or so, or do you look at it
and have to reevaluate and say, what's going on here?

Speaker 4 (36:09):
They shouldn't be this bad. They got some players, don't they.

Speaker 5 (36:12):
Well, if you're asking me what happens in the NFL,
look at the Patriots last year. They felt like they
made a bad hire with Mayo. They didn't give him
an opportunity to fix it. They switched the vrabel. We'll
see if the jet channeled the same way. If I
did it, I would feel like I hired the right guy,
and I'm gonna give him time to get the culture changed,

(36:33):
to get the roster situated in a way that he
wants and likes, and give him a chance succeed.

Speaker 4 (36:38):
What Sean, let me say this to you, I don't know.
Let me say this.

Speaker 2 (36:41):
I hear your point, And for the most part, a
lot of gms would go your way because you don't
want to admit that you're wrong.

Speaker 4 (36:48):
Okay, that you that you made a mistake.

Speaker 2 (36:51):
But sometimes, and Joe Dumore said, this in Detroit, and
I agree with it. It's not about being right, it's
about getting it right. Nathaniel Hackett, they knew right away
wasn't a head coach.

Speaker 4 (37:06):
They didn't give him another year, and you know, hold
the mayo. They didn't think that he was the guy.

Speaker 5 (37:12):
So and Rob. He makes a good point. But I
think the thing that we don't know how is Aaron
Glenn handling things internally a lot of times that God
can have a lot of ideas about will what will work,
and what won't work, and then he gets in that
position and he's finding out that those ideas were the
right ideas. Now, the guys that are going to be
really good head coaches, you know what behind the scenes

(37:34):
are like, Okay, I thought this, but we got to
adjust it. We got to do this. We gotta manipulate
this part so that this part can be less of
a deficiency. We don't know that part of what's going on.

Speaker 6 (37:45):
Sean Ki our guess here on the odd couple, Sean,
we appreciate, man, We're up against it as always.

Speaker 3 (37:50):
You got to quit guarantee or anything.

Speaker 5 (37:52):
Uh Yes, I'm going Detroit Lions big on Monday night,
Carible Spot for my buck and we're banged up. Lions
are coming off a loss. I hate this spot for us.
Were gonna knock them out the playoffs, but they're gonna
They're gonn would shut us Monday night.

Speaker 6 (38:07):
I like that, but man, that worries me. Without branch too,
that's a big loss for the Lions. Appreciate you, Sean.

Speaker 3 (38:12):
Thank you.

Speaker 5 (38:13):
This isn't long enough.

Speaker 6 (38:15):
I know, I know, we gotta we gotta work on that, man,
We do, gotta work on that. Appreciate you man. All right,
field goals making it easy to win games. The game
has changed. We'll talk about the next to see our
couple of Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 3 (38:29):
ALRIGHTFL coverage is different, different, it's better.
