the World Series just ending obviously with the Red Sox
taking the Dodgers down four games to one. And then

(01:29):
in the second hour we will be joined by Hall

sure you lock it in for the next three hours.
And Rob, what's happening brother? Good to see you. What's

(01:50):
happening to you? First? I want to say before we
even get to the crew and start the show, man happy.
Oh yeah, thank you, thank you, thank you. That's a mollstone.
I mean, do you feel a little different? You know
what people ask you like when you say, uh, people
say you're getting old, you say it's better than the alternative.

(02:11):
Oh yeah, because if you're not getting old, then what's
that mean? That's the fifties to the new thirty five,
not even the new forty. Feel good? Yeah, I feel great.
Most people don't believe you even fifty when they look
at you, Doday, No, no, no, people think I'm not
a day over forty nine, But no, I think I

(02:33):
look at you I'm I'm hanging in there. I'm in
good shape. I still work out, I still play basketball.
I never thought i'd be playing rec basketball at fifty.
And your wife surprised you this weekend, took me to Vegas.
She she told me she had a big surprise, and
she flew us to Vegas Friday night and we hung
out there all weekend. I had no idea what better

(02:54):
We watched the end of the Uh was that game
three Friday night, Game four, Game three three Friday night
in the casino, the Palazzo, and you know, everybody was watching,
and uh we saw Michael Jackson circue this so late
and that, which was terrific, especially if you like Michael.
Who doesn't like Michael Jackson. But it was a great performance.

(03:16):
And we hung out by the pool. It was you know,
it didn't gamble, didn't lose my money, not not a gambler,
but it's still a nice to get away and you
get a meeting. And we walked, you know, we walked
around the strip and we were you know, walking into
casinos with shopping and I mean it was it was
a great time. That's nice, man, that's great. Happy birthday
may have many many more joining the club. I hope

(03:37):
I look as good at fifty as you do at
fifty five. People not used to this level. This is
like January, I'll be fifty five, don't Russian? All right,
fifty four, but I'll take that. And and uh, you know,
rob G and the crew and Alex, look at what
they did for your birth some phone nuts. They wouldn't

(03:58):
even let me put in the money for it. Those
guys were like nope. It was between Alex and rob G.
They were like, we got it. I want to thank
you guys. Contribute. I'll come up with something that I
appreciate that. And and Alex is trying to see he's
slick with it. He's he's hoping that this leads us
to become vegans. Right, that's he's got an alteria, just

(04:18):
a subtle movement to help you look better. When but
I didn't see any seaweed donuts? No, right, well what
are they? These are vegan, yes, and for vegan, half
gluten free okay something. The ones that are gluten free
aren't vegan. No. I think they have some egging them,
but they're all still supreme. All are gluten free. Some
are vegans, okay, but we had them last week for

(04:41):
the first time and try ton't want to try it,
and you know what, you're a hardcore, dedicated carnivore, yes,
And I said, remember I was like, Nope, not interested in.
They're like, Rob, can you at least just try a bite?
So here it is again. You got a full bone. Gosh,
They're delicious, they are issious, and I'm hooked. I'm hooked.

(05:02):
This is my new dessert. I'm trying to eat healthy
now that I'm fifty, and I'm gonna try to you know,
get on the health kicks. The phone nuts is my
thing now. Oh no, all right, all right, we gonna
start the show. All right, we got plenty to talk about.
Plenty we do. And let's welcome into our couple of

(05:23):
crew because you know what, we wouldn't be able to
do this fine radio program without him. Of course, Rob
g Our, producer Alex Our, engineer Deb Carson is our anchor.
She'll keep you updated on everything going on. And turn
Sean is back. He was in New York this weekend.
And uh Elijah is in studio of course doing somemorrow

(05:45):
video and video camera work. We do Aroscope, Facebook Live, Instagram,
what else, Yes, any place you any place you can
see videos. Yes, so we are in full effective on
the other side of the last. So Chris Broussard as
a fifty year old, let's kick some ass on this Monday.
Let's let's do it. And you can participate as well

(06:09):
as always. Give us a call up at eight seven,
seven ninety nine on Fox. That's eight seven seven nine nine.
Big Mike, where's he go? Three? Come try one of
these donuts. I'm sorry, Big where nuts? Not nuts? Come
try one of these phone nuts because Mike, Mike a
never had one of these. You know, he's never had

(06:29):
a He's clearly a meat and potato. Come on, try
one of these. You'll enjoy. You can't regret, dude, either.
Cut one if the white one there you go, enjoy that?
All right? All right, all right, let's do it. All right? Well,
the World Series is over. Shocking, shocking, and not not
that the Red Sox won. They had the best team

(06:51):
all year one hundred to day when spring training on right,
beat the Yankees who won a hundred games, beat the Astros,
who won one hundred and three games, and then my
thing went in three against the Yankees. The Astros the Dodgers.
And here's the thing I just thought it was. I
can't believe how easy it was, because the Dodgers really

(07:12):
didn't put up a big enough fight. And to win
the three games, you know, to come back to uh
LA and not have to go back to Boston and
win the series in five was shocking to me. I thought,
I thought the Dodgers had them right where they wanted
to Chris when they were up for nothing in Game three? Right,
was that? What game was that? There were four nothing?

(07:34):
I thought they were going to no no Game four.
Then I thought they're going to game four obviously four
right at their at their home stadium. I thought, you're
up for nothing in the seventh inning in Game four,
you tied the series at two two, and then you
have Kershaw on the mount at home for Game five.
That's that's being in the driver's seat. I'm not kidding you.

(07:55):
And it went from that to lose it, you know,
losing that game and getting blown out in that game.
I equate this, though you said they didn't put up
a fight. I equate this to a boxer who steps
into the ring and really doesn't throw a lot of punches, right,
doesn't go for the knockout. He's being cautious, and I'm sorry. Look,

(08:15):
the Red Sox are the best team in baseball. We're
gonna get to the discussion of whether they're the best
team we've ever seen in baseball, because, as you said,
they they went through the hundred win Yankees hundred plus
and then the Dodgers three, who had won six straight
and the best picture of this generation. And I say

(08:39):
that about Kershaw because his consistency seeing guys that are
great for a few years. I mean, you can go
down Lens Succumb you know had his he's back, but
he had his dip, you know, like you see these
guys have their little runs here and there. Kershaw has
been great for a long stretch now, So no guy
say he's the best interration. They ran through him. But

(09:01):
here's my thing. Taking nothing away from the Rand Sox,
I think the Dodgers didn't make this a series, didn't
lock this up at two games a piece, because of
self inflicted wounds. And I hate to keep beating the
analytics drum, but it's true though. Yes, I mean, you
you got Rich Hill, who's pitching one hitter, a one

(09:25):
hitter and he just struck out Edward o'd noon, yes,
and you take him out? What are you doing? And
I know if if if Hill gets rocked, gives up
a homer or run, you know whatever, people are gonna
second guess that. But you can never. Look, it's a
game of chad. You never can ever nothing's perfect. But

(09:46):
you had cushion with the four run lead. So my
thing is, let him get in trouble before you just
take him out. So if he gave up a couple
of hits or run, then you say, okay, thank you
very But he didn't do anything. Walked the first bat
right on four pitches, I believe, right, But then he
struck out Noon yet And I'm sorry, let the guys pitch.

(10:08):
He only threw. And even if he were, I mean,
I'm just look, you gotta go with your gut feeling.
I was so upset as soon as he did it.
And here's the other thing. If you look at the
Red Sox star players one through four, they were being
held in check through the first four games series. They

(10:31):
were like, uh six, four forty five or like they
hadn't done anything. Mookie Batch or JD. Martin's. At one point,
I believe they might have gonna throw an O and
forty one stretcher. Yea, because because of that eighteen inning
game and that game they went Uh, Sean, what was
that he mentioned? It was like or was that the run?

(10:54):
It was like for twenty two in that eighty right
in that eighteen in a game where they weren't getting
any hit. So you lost because other guys wind up
getting big hits. Uh Kensley Jansen, Dude, to give up
the home run to Jackie Bradley with two outs in
the night, I mean, that's a killer to back night.
That's a that's a killer to kill. I'm sorry, I

(11:16):
I don't care what the analytics said. Let the guy
manage by gut instincts, and I just think so I
really feel like the Dodgers should have won game too,
I'm sorry, Game four and even it up at two games, right,
and I'm not looking no. I mean, I'm a big

(11:38):
fan of Clayton as a person then obviously as a
great regular season pitcher, But I don't know how much
confidence I have at even now. He's the Peyton Manning.
He's Peyton Manning of the of baseball, no doubt. I
mean this, this last one was probably it for most
Dodger fans, but they they got up for debating because
they know what I mean. They kept waiting for him
to say, Okay, all right, now we're down on three

(12:00):
to one. He could force the series back to Boston
with an effort. First team comes out in the first
thing and they're down to nothing, bright away. This is
not this is no longer a question about Kershaw. No,
because we've seen him have really strong postseason outings and
then come back and have a clunker or just a

(12:21):
mea yoker out. So this is not, oh he's fine,
like David Price is over the hump now, yeah, okay,
Kershaw not over like this is just who he is
in the postseason for whatever reason. If it's nerves, if
it's the better competition, I don't know, but it's it's
sealed now. He's not very good in the post He's

(12:42):
not that guy and you can't count on him. And
I think that moving forward, Dodger fans are probably giving
up on Kershaw as like the deliverer, like they thought
he was going to deliver him a championship. Usually when
you have a picture of a picture of that caliber,
usually get a championship out of it, because what you're
looking that's what you're looking for. Pictures are so important,

(13:02):
You're right. And then in the seven games, yes, you
can give me three starts and right, you can give
me and win two or three and you win a championship.
Instead the Dodgers go another year. It's been a full
thirty years now that last time New Woman's nineteen eighty eight,
and now they're looking for and move on to twenty
nineteen thirty one years now. Be sure to catch live

(13:23):
editions of The Odd Couple with Chris Brussard and Rob
Parker weekdays at seven pm Eastern four pm Pacific on
Fox Sports Radio and the iHeart Radio app. Rob, we're
gonna give you the floor since you're disagreeing with the
Hall of Famer. You got about a minute to sell
us on Eli May. I'm just it's not that I
think and I just said the same thing to Rob Woodson,

(13:46):
Philip Rivers. Go look at his numbers for those fifteen years.
Don't you anything tremendous in the regular, tremendous regular seasons.
And I just think, and it's no knock on Philip,
but it's about winning a title. It's about winning something right.
That's the ultimate. Eli didn't win it just once. He
won it twice. He beat that eighteen and old Patriots

(14:08):
team with Randy Moss, Tom Brady, with all the unbelievable
numbers and everything that went on. Chris right, it was
a tremendous year. They went on the road, they won
in Green Bay. Go look at the two playoff runs
he had. They were they were really, really good. And
it wasn't like he had a great defense and he

(14:28):
didn't have to do anything right. He had to make
big throws and bring them back to win those games, right,
tom Brady. Tom Brady threw a touchdown to Randy Moss
to give him the lead, and then it was a
throw to David Tye read it set up for Eli
to two. It wasn't the greatest passa Burros. No, I'm
not saying caught it on his helmet. But to man,

(14:50):
idn't know where you're coming from. I really do think.
And again I'm not sure where I'm at because I
don't think Eli had a Hall of Fame career, but
I know how huge those two Super Bowls were. But
I'm skewed by I was in New York at that time.
I was a part of the New York media. I
know how everything is so blown out of proportion. O
j Otis Anderson. He won two Super Bowls with the Giants.

(15:12):
There might be New York and he was huge, pis
he wont a Hall of Famer. No, Phil Simms won
one and Jeff Hosteller won the other one when Bill
part sels because Phil Simms I think got heard and
he came in, you know, or whatever. Hosteller won the
second one. But I just I think if you're really
fair and you look at Eli taking down that eighteen

(15:33):
and old Patriots team beating time everybody who wants to know,
I don't call Tom Brady the goat, but all the
people say that he's the goat. Yet Eli is two
and on the biggest game. You know what I mean
that that's to speak volume. It wasn't like Flukey one
time he beat Tom Brady and that was it. He
beat him twice for all the marvels when he had

(15:54):
to come back and throw a touchdown late in the
game to win the game. That's why I give him credit.
Paidon man things. Last Super Bowl. He any quarterback could
have won that Super Bowl. He didn't. He was terrible elot,
I mean Peyton and that in that Super Bowl that
the Denver defense won that Super Bowl. Be sure to
catch live editions of The Odd Couple with Chris Broussard
and Rob Parker week days at seven pm Eastern, four

(16:16):
pm Pacific. But of course, the World Series is all
over and the Boston Red Sox made it happen. All
kinds of talk about the Red Sox, especially on any
greatest team ever. They won one hundred eight games, They
beat thee hundred win Yankees, they beat one hundred three Astros,
and route they beat the Dodgers, who have won six
straight Western Division title Conference divisions. Um, so, so are

(16:42):
they this greatest team ever? And then there's all this
other talk which I saw on Instagram about Boston being Titletown.
That's the greatest sports town in America. Look at all
their teams and all the winning that they're doing in Boston,
and I want to pump the brakes on that just
a little bit, Chris, I better be just a little

(17:05):
bit truth to it. Okay, I get the Red Sox
just won a World Series, but they haven't won three
in a row. Uh, the last time I looked, the
Patriots lost the Super Bowl last year, right, so they
lost bost the Red Sox won, the Patriots lost. I
get that the Patriots have won five, but that dates
back twenty years five in the last was it I'm

(17:29):
talking about the Patriots? Yeah? Yeah, is it exactly around
all right, eighteen eight or something like that, but I
mean almost twenty yeah, and the Red Sox have won
what now what four World Series in the last fourteen
or fifteen years? Four fifteen years last. But then I've
seen people throw in like the Bruins they haven't won
since twenty eleven. They also threw in the Celtics they

(17:54):
haven't won since two thousand and eight. That's ten years.
So so I can't throw all those in and say
that Boston's title town basketball team. I know they won
the Eastern Conference finals last year, but they didn't win
I hear you. I mean if you take it literally
like they're winning every other year or something like that,

(18:16):
then of course you're right. But relatively speaking, Rob, you
do have to admit, I mean, Boston got it going
on in terms of pro sports. What other city can
compete in that regard? You got the Patriots five and
let's just go this century. No, but but five, they

(18:36):
got five championships this century. They're the team. Okay, let's
put it this way. They're the team of the century
in football. No, but the only Boston Red Sox are
the team of the century in baseball. The only problem
with that, and you're right about the Celtics. The Brewers
have won eleven. Yeah, they won in twenty eleven. So

(18:56):
what other city can compete with that? All four of
your man ajor sports towns have won a championship within
the last ten years? What other city? I mean, Rob
g Am, I missing something a city. I just think
that that's you know, it's all relative, but compared to
every other even last two championships, they went ten years

(19:21):
without in between super Bowls. Okay, so that's that's like
a whole different era and time. Quarterback everybody else's the
main thing. I look, La, I think you're La. What La?
The Lakers last title was ten, right, eleven? Two thousand

(19:43):
and eleven? Yeah? Nah? Two? Well, I guess the question is,
would you consider LA title town in the early two
thousand with the Lakers in USC and the Angels winning.
Probably not, but they had at least more in a
concentrated amount of time than with didn't half saying half football.
You just said it though concentrated. You can't. One was

(20:05):
college to me. You can't stretch out fifteen years and
keep like like if you want to put the Patriots
and and the Red Sox together and say wow, okay,
But when I saw them tack on the Celtics and
the Bruins, that's what I said, that's a stretch those

(20:26):
two have but one okay, but just the Patriots twenty years,
that's just the Patriots and the Red Sox is enough.
And then you make to your other yes, because your
other two teams at least have gotten the time. I mean,
we were talking about the Knicks the other day. It's
been it's gonna be forty what five years since they're

(20:46):
for This will be their forty fifty six year since
they won the championship because it was nineteen seventy. The
Dodgers in law, thirty years now without a championship. I don't,
I don't know. I just don't look at it the
same way. It's Boston. Every other year they're winning something.
But I just been relatively speaking, no major there's no

(21:10):
I can't think of a city that has this type
of If I said to you, the Patriots have won
two super Bowls in the last thirteen years. Is that
that impressive to you? When you put it that way,
you see what I'm saying as impressive. But but that's
what it is, though, Chris, is what I'm trying to tell.

(21:30):
But but but it's also five in the last eighteen years. No,
I know, but that's a long stretch. But it's the
same quarterback and coach. No, but it's it's ultimately this
will all be a part of the Tom Brady or
Bill Belichick era. Yeah, but a lot of those players,
there's nobody left. It's not the same. The main too,

(21:50):
though those are the main two. There's eight eight seven,
seven ninety nine on Fox. Is the telephone eight seven
seven nine nine six sixty three sixty nine give us
a college. Yeah, I look, I'm not I'm no huge
Boston fan. I'm no fan of the city of Boston.
But I'm just saying I have to give them props
because they are getting it done. I mean, I can't

(22:11):
there's no city where all four teams have one A
handful of championships this century Boston is really the only
place that we could refer to as title town, So
I'm willing to give it to him. Yeah, I just
think a lot of them are too spread out, and
I know people like to lump them together, and I
get it, So it's there. So in your I'm trying

(22:33):
to there is no title No to me, would be
certainly no place you'd say over in Boston. To me,
it would be like, uh, that year that we talked
about when the Knicks went to the finals and the Rangers,
Like if two or three of your teams are in
the champions ninety ninety four, ninety four, Yeah, that was

(22:54):
you know what I mean where we're Knicks lost though,
and so did the Rangers, Right did they lose that year?
And then the Range the Rangers won that year? All right,
So so the the Rangers win that year ninety but
we can't. We couldn't call that title town. No, no, no.
But I just think that lumping them all together, I think.
I guess my pushback was when I saw the Celtics
because it's been ten years. I don't know how they

(23:17):
could really fit in. That's a long that's a decade
without winning. But I think it's how you define title
town again. Are you saying they're all four of their
teams are winning it every two or three years, or
are you saying compared to every other town in America,
give you a better one. I'll give you a better one.
It's boss. No, it's not Golden State. I'll give you

(23:37):
that Golden States better, Okay. And the Giants won. The
Giants won. The Giants won three World Series and they've
won three championships, right, once or three going on for four? Right?
When's San Francisco? When's the last time they won it?
Joe Montana was playing right, No, Steve Young, Yeah, but
I'm just that that that that that wouldn't compare because

(23:58):
we're talking about this since Street or even if you're
not talking about this century, we have to go way
back for the forty nine ers title and the Giants.
You're right, they but it's been a long time, right,
But I'm talking about it's what was there's two thousand
and five now they won three of them. The last
one wasn't that long ago. We gotta look at the
exact year. But no, we're talking about Yeah, when the

(24:23):
Giant San Francisco Johns in ten twenty twelve, twenty fourteen, fourteen.
You see what I'm saying. They got three World Series there.
That's only two of their teams. The forty nine ers
don't have one. Am I missing the San Jose H
just don't want to give Tom Brady and the New
England Patriots any props. No, it's cut to the chase.

(24:44):
You are digging deep to find another city and you
don't even light Golden State. But now you're gonna jump
on Golden States man wagon. Fox Sports Radio has the

(25:07):
check check. Sources say these two have been covering sports
for nearly three decades a piece. I will say this,
let's put the Big Jay journalists to the test. Its
sources say, yes, sir, It is sources to say, we
do this every Monday at eight forty five pm Eastern,
where we put one hundred and twelve years of journalism

(25:28):
experiencing the tests those years or Rob or whatever. Rob
likes this game now now that I've been letting him win,
we wouldn't stop the game. You were getting battered so much,
you wouldn't stopped the game if I did. Last few weeks.
I'm good. Now let's play. All right, let's do it now.
For those you don't know, we have a couple of

(25:50):
stories here. They all sound a little real, a little
bit fake. We got to make sure Chris and Rob
can tell which ones are real and which ones are not,
using their impeccable sources they developed over the years. So
story number one, my sources say, Chris, as you know
this one. Oscar de la Joya rented out all three
levels of the chandelier bar at the Cosmo in Vegas
this weekend on Friday to celebrate his girlfriend's birthday. My

(26:14):
source is good, Chris, you were in Vegas. I was there.
I was partying with De la Joya. Now you know
you aren't party. I'm talking about media in Vegas. I'm
going to say that is false. I'm gonna say it's true.
You sit on a throne of a lie. I'm taken
back my crown, and I'm telling you Rob, he was

(26:35):
in Vegas. This he told you. I saw Floyd Floyd.
They were there. They were doing autograph signings. But uh,
I didn't go talk. You get that what did you
get that information? You just made that up totally. That
was all. It was actually se birthday to bar in Pasadena,
which is not Vegas. Look at you right, rented out
three floors. I knew he had to what you call

(26:56):
it number two? Speaking of Floyd may Whether, my sources
say that he's being sued by a group of people
who claim that he helped promote in a legal cryptocurrency
scam that screwed investors out of millions rob him. My
source is good true. I think that is false. Nothing

(27:21):
I took my I kicked the door, sources say. The
couple of Fox Sports Radio. My sources say that Broncos
corner Chris Harris revealed an interview this week that he
wears a fitbit during every game and that he ran
over seventeen miles during their game against the Chiefs on Sunday. Chris,
and my source is good true. I'm gonna say false.

(27:45):
Is that a part of equipment that he could wear
a fitbit? You sit on lies, my man. He does
