You're listening to the best of the Odd Couple.
Speaker 3 (00:25):
All signs point to a divorce happening this soft season
between Kevin Durant and the Phoenix Suns. Anyone you speak
to as reputable as all said, if he's not traded,
that would be the shock of the summer.
Speaker 4 (00:36):
Well, flash forward to Tuesday morning, ESPM.
Speaker 3 (00:40):
Shan Sharania went on the Pat McAfee Show, and he
said that Kevin Durant and the San Antonio Spurs had
mutual interest ahead of this past trade deadline. Nothing obviously materialized,
but expected two sides to reconvene this offseason. Guys, the
reason why that's interesting is number one, because you know,
anytime you have Katie on the move, it's a big deal.
(01:00):
But number two, something we talked about a couple of
weeks ago. As soon as the Spurs got the number
two pick in the upcoming NBA draft. Everybody and their
mother started to link San Antonio that number two pick
and Yannis because we all know that his future in
Milwaukee is also up in the air. So here's the question, guys,
(01:24):
if you are the San Antonio Spurs and you can
go after either one of these big fish KD or Yannis,
which one are you going after?
Speaker 4 (01:34):
And why?
Speaker 5 (01:35):
I'm gonna go after KD because I like a bargain.
So it would be like shopping at Ross. I'm gonna
get it forty percent off. He's well traveled, a little weathered,
you know what I mean. Maybe there's a little stain
on it. Maybe it's a little older, outdated. It's not
the freshest stuff, but it's worth it. I'm not shopping
(01:57):
at socks. Giannis is a purchase. He's still good, great,
he's still young, He's got years to go. K D
is at the end, and it's not gonna cost you
all your players. That's the problem. If you go get
Yanni's and you gotta give up. Right, you just built
(02:18):
this young team together and now the first thing you
have to do is.
Speaker 4 (02:22):
What start taking away from it.
Speaker 5 (02:25):
That's not what you wanna do you want to be
able to take your nucleus what you have add a
player Kevin Durant this year, for the next two years
somebody else down there, you know what I mean. And
it ain't gonna cost you that much, and it ain't
gonna cost you that many players because you don't want
to do that. That's the part you don't want to do.
If you have to gut your team to get Yannis,
(02:47):
what's the point of that.
Speaker 1 (02:49):
Totally get your point, except you're wrong. First of all,
don't do Kevin Durant like that. He ain't Russ Now.
He might be a Macy's nah when he was in Brooklyn. No,
I give you you know, he might be if you
catch a good deal over at H and M. He
ain't Ross. I'll give you H and M. He's him
right now. He is him. He ain't the old school
(03:11):
him when he was, you know, winning championships with the Warriors.
But I'm going I'm definitely going to Saxon with you
from New York. I'm going to Madison Ave. Ain't that
where everything is in New York. I'm shopping on Madison
Ave right now.
Speaker 4 (03:23):
And I tell you why.
Speaker 1 (03:25):
One of the things the Spurs have done well is
accumulate some young talent and also accumulate picks. Let's go
with the latter. Dang, they got a lot of picks.
Thirty six future draft picks over the next seven years.
They have the most selections in the league, even more
than okayc So when you have all of those picks,
and you also have obviously a Rookie of the Year
(03:48):
and Stephen Castle Stefan Castle. So now you have some talent,
you got some picks, and I'm going to get Goddess.
And the thing I think we forget about gian Is
is he seems older than he really is, Like because
you've heard of him for so long, Giannis is only thirty.
So if I get five more years of Yanna's paired
up with women Yama. First of all, let's talk about
(04:09):
the amount of footage and that we can we can cover.
You got a dude that's seven foot a million and
a dude that has a wingspan of about eight foot
with Gianni's, so defensively, we're going to be incredible. You
got two guys that can defend, that can block shots,
change shots, that can make shots. Then I got Daron Fox,
who can actually close games, and that's been one of
(04:29):
the issues with Gianni's. Darreon Fox is a perfect guy
close game, make make shots, make free throws, and obviously
he's not the greatest defender, so I can cover that
with other people. So I'm going to Sacks fifth, I'm
going to what you want you want to call it, Bloomingdale, Demen, Marcus,
whatever you want to call these places. And I'm going
to get Yanni's and I'm about to have Giannis and
whom beating Darren darreon Fox for the next five six
(04:50):
years and tell y'all to deal with Okay, so that.
Speaker 5 (04:53):
Milwaukee's getting what what is Milwaukee giving you a the
rookie of the Year in Castle and I'm giving you
five first round.
Speaker 4 (05:01):
Picks or whatever.
Speaker 5 (05:02):
That ain't enough for you an player. I need somebody else.
I need Fox.
Speaker 1 (05:07):
You're starting off giving me fun, giving me fo why
because I got I want fun? No, I need fun
because then I'm sitting there with two.
Speaker 4 (05:16):
I will give you picks.
Speaker 1 (05:19):
You can start over, you can sell to your team.
We got a rookie of the Year, we got a
bunch of picks, and uh, we're gonna start here.
Speaker 4 (05:26):
We're gonna rebuild and you can build it.
Speaker 1 (05:28):
Hey, you still got dame when he comes back late
next year, you know, and then you start building from there,
and you and you reset, and you say, we're on
our way to being with the Celtics are what they're
you know, they had a good run drafting young guys.
We're on our way to being with the Warriors when
they drafted a bunch of money.
Speaker 4 (05:44):
But look, getting.
Speaker 5 (05:46):
But getting k D isn't gonna cost you the Rookie
of the year, okay, or number two pick. It might
have even cost you the fourteenth pick that they have. Seriously,
k D at this point it cannot command that. That's
why I'm saying KD could fit. He could still get
your buckets. Go look at his numbers, like you remember
(06:07):
at one point to start the year he.
Speaker 4 (06:09):
Was bawling out, remember twenty six. He can still score.
Speaker 5 (06:14):
And if you add KD right to Wemby fox Castle
and still have a ton of assets left, like why.
Speaker 4 (06:23):
Why deplete the bank?
Speaker 5 (06:25):
KD can do what Yanni's Wimby's your star, not Yiannis.
Speaker 4 (06:30):
No, that's who is my future. No, that's your star. Honest.
Speaker 1 (06:34):
Right now, he's nine foot tall, Yanna's stats were insane
this past year.
Speaker 4 (06:38):
Thirty like to get him that plus two ninety got
him on the New York City sub.
Speaker 1 (06:44):
And that yes two ninety you finally said, you give
me the two sixty five or two seventy five.
Speaker 4 (06:50):
Uh yeah.
Speaker 1 (06:51):
Gianni's winby Indi Air Fox is a pro Blump and
kissue with the issue with KD is number one, he
hasn't played over sixty five games in a very long time.
Number two, it just hasn't ultimately mattered. In fact, it has.
It not only mattered, the team's got worse.
Speaker 4 (07:08):
The Suns got worse. The Suns were.
Speaker 1 (07:11):
Laughable by far, the most disappointing team in all of
the NBA this past season. So to me, I'd rather
not And then I because he's not the leader enough.
He's not gonna come in and lead enough my Fox
and my Wimby. Giannis is a leader. Giannic is gonna
play hard, Giannice is gonna play a both ends of
the ball. Giannic is gonna demand them to be better.
And I'd rather ride with that for the next five
(07:32):
or six years. And defensively we will be incredible with
the Giannis and Wimby.
Speaker 4 (07:36):
But Gianna's thought, it's a lot more. And that's just
the issue.
Speaker 5 (07:39):
Is what I'm trying to tell you is that you
could probably get very much for what you need Darren
Fox and Wimby and your rookie of the year, and
now you're adding a veteran guy who's won championships, been finals, MVP,
Like that's all you need. You don't need somebody to
totally disrupt the Apple card where it all has to
(07:59):
be about Giannis. What about those three? What about those
guys that you've already built. Giannie is not gonna come
in and take a back seat to anybody.
Speaker 4 (08:07):
I don't need right now. I need you to be
the bus driver. You don't.
Speaker 1 (08:10):
I need you to be Jerome Bettis drive this bus
while Wimby is like, oh this is what it takes. Okay,
this is the next level. Bet I'm learning.
Speaker 4 (08:18):
How does he crashed the bus? Didn't he remember?
Speaker 1 (08:20):
He?
Speaker 2 (08:20):
No?
Speaker 1 (08:20):
He won it and then dipped out. Wanted in Detroit.
You're talking about a great ending.
Speaker 4 (08:23):
No, that was you couldn't have any you.
Speaker 1 (08:25):
Win a super Bowl in your hometown, playing in Detroit
for this is I had to be in a great way.
If he thought about coming back. Everybody slapped you better retire.
That was a perfect him.
Speaker 5 (08:35):
John Lway went back to back and he bounced out,
I mean, you couldn't have been any better.
Speaker 1 (08:41):
Perfect sitting of absolutely, But yeah, hackey, I'm going to
get young I met. We are ordering some of the
best Greek food right now and and door dashing it
to him. We got some of the best Greek food
in San anton. I don't care what absolutely I'm going
to get Yannis. You yourself said Katie, what you call
him basketball dead? Don't try to make him Lazar and
(09:01):
resurrect from the dead.
Speaker 4 (09:03):
I can bring him back to life. You are not Jesus.
Don't make him Lazarus.
Speaker 5 (09:06):
All I need is a couple of loads of bread
and some two fish and five low.
Speaker 1 (09:11):
Someone hasn't been the church in a minute. I tried
on Eastern five loaves and five fishes to okay, and
then you fed the five thousand, so each one was
really worth about a thousand each fish and loaf for bread.
Don't get you honest. Matter of fact, I'm on my
dual lingo right now, trying to speak Greek. Your Latin,
I don't even know what it is. But dang, I'm
about to speak it. It's all Greek.
Speaker 4 (09:30):
To me better if I had the Bible half the
New Testament is Greek. All right? Eight seven, seven ninety
nine on Fox. If you're the Suns, We're going to
get you. I'm going to get young. I mean it's
the Spurs I'm thinking of.
Speaker 2 (09:46):
The Be sure to catch live editions of The Odd
Couple with Rob Parker and Kelvin Washington weekdays at seven
pm Eastern, four pm Pacific on Fox Sports Radio and
the iHeartRadio app.
Speaker 5 (09:57):
All right, Rob g, can you talk about the old
broken down quarterback that just won't stop.
Speaker 4 (10:02):
He's like a squeaky wheel. Go ahead, Uh, that's right.
Speaker 3 (10:05):
Another guy who probably will never come on The I
Couple after he hears his upcoming save four time Super
Bowl champs. Steelers legend Terry Bradshaw was asked about this
off season rumor that we've had now for months that
Aaron Rodgers, maybe not today, maybe not tomorrow, but at
some point will become the next quarterback of the Pittsburgh Steels.
Let's just say scary. Terry's not too happy about it.
(10:27):
Take a listen, what do you.
Speaker 2 (10:27):
Think about possibly Aaron Rodgers being the quarterback.
Speaker 4 (10:30):
That's a joke. He shouldn't. That is just to me
as a joke.
Speaker 1 (10:34):
What are you gonna bring him.
Speaker 2 (10:35):
In for one year?
Speaker 3 (10:36):
Are you kidding me?
Speaker 2 (10:37):
I mean.
Speaker 3 (10:39):
Right, no, man, that guy needs to stay in California.
Thank you, jew one bark and risk it to the
gods out there on.
Speaker 4 (10:49):
These guys on the show.
Speaker 1 (10:50):
Mister Bradshaw know I'm not a fan of his.
Speaker 4 (10:53):
We've been around each other personally and he was not
a kind person. Yeah, he does not. I had to
go over introduce myself to him. He's not had to go, Hey, Aaron,
I'm Terry Bradshaw. I know he knows me, but I
just felt like I better tell him who I am.
Yeah and not.
Speaker 3 (11:10):
You know, you walk in there and you get in
his presidence and.
Speaker 4 (11:12):
You feel like it's gonna start snowing. Well, I figured that.
Speaker 5 (11:17):
I'm glad he told on hisself that he felt like
a little man in the same presence of Aaron Rodgers.
Speaker 4 (11:24):
And I know he won four Super Bowls and.
Speaker 5 (11:25):
Whatnot, But Terry Bradshaw is the worst. Okay, he really is.
He's the same guy who called Mike Tomlin a cheerleader
without the skirt.
Speaker 4 (11:39):
Can you imagine that? Seriously?
Speaker 5 (11:41):
A coach who did win a Super Bowl? You got we,
me and you. I'll criticize Mike Tomlin for not winning
a playoff game in eight or nine years, and I'll
do all that, But a cheerleader, how disrespectful is that?
Speaker 4 (11:53):
He knows?
Speaker 5 (11:54):
Aaron Rodgers has a relationship with Mike Tomlin. They have
mutual respect. And Terry Bradshaw, if you want, you just
heard it. And the other minor bird who was on
the radio show, whoever that guy was.
Speaker 4 (12:05):
Yeah, I'm with you guy. I've been around him. He
with the bad guy to me.
Speaker 5 (12:10):
That's why the Steelers don't do that. That's why they
won won Super Bowl in the last twenty year.
Speaker 4 (12:15):
The Steelers don't do that.
Speaker 5 (12:17):
Somebody could have said, if they called up and pushed back. Well,
the Denver Broncos went and got uh Peyton Manning for
a year basically right, He played there two years and
they won a Super Bowl. Tom Brady went to Tampa
Bay for a couple of years, they won a Super Bowl.
What are you talking about? It has been done. Who's
(12:41):
the quarterbacks that you've had? You haven't had any in nine.
Speaker 4 (12:45):
Or ten years?
Speaker 5 (12:46):
That's the since Roethlisberger, and even at the end of
his career. It's okay, I'd rather have more respect for
Terry Bradshaw if he said I hate this guy and
it had nothing to do with football. I just hate Okay,
but the call of the joke because you have an
issue with him personally. This is when guys stick around
(13:11):
too long seriously, and they think.
Speaker 4 (13:14):
This happens to a lot of guys. A lot of older.
Speaker 5 (13:16):
Guys in this business who stick around way too long,
think that they're bulletproof and wind up saying the wrong
thing to the wrong guy and wind up losing their gig.
I could give you ten guys on that that is true.
It happens all the time. And that's where Terry Bradshaw
fits in. I'm not gonna sit here and dismantle his
(13:38):
NFL career career, okay, but the idea that I'm supposed
to take seriously Terry Bradshaw who called Mike Tomlin a
cheerleader and said he didn't even know if he could
coach or not, Who's coached for all these years, never
had a losing record.
Speaker 4 (13:56):
Say what you want, but.
Speaker 5 (13:59):
A freaking cheerleader you can't be more disrespectful. And so
that's why I'm gonna be disrespectful to Terry Bradshaw.
Speaker 1 (14:07):
Seriously, he gonna tell you to chew on bark two goods,
he said, chew on bar.
Speaker 5 (14:12):
And he would chew on bark two after they put
his teeth in. I'm just saying, I told that man
chewing bark. I'm gonna listen.
Speaker 1 (14:19):
Terry Bradshaw is that old person that we all got,
that old grandmar old uncle who just says whatever they want,
and you know, it's just gonna tell their truth and
what they feel. That's the place he is in life
right now. So Terry Bradshaw's doing that to me. I'll
go back to the conversation you and I have had
multiple times, and mine is simply it still remains the same.
Aaron Rodgers has the right to do what Aaron Rodgers
wants to do it right now. It's wait figure out
(14:41):
what I want to do, see a free agent, free
agent to his credit. Ay, y'all, I don't know what
I want to do. Got some is shoes, Go get
somebody else if you want.
Speaker 4 (14:49):
So.
Speaker 1 (14:49):
My issue, you know, has been with the Steelers less
Aaron Rodgers because.
Speaker 5 (14:53):
Day Rodgers told the stealers, told you if you don't
want to wait.
Speaker 1 (14:57):
Understand, he told them you can get somebody moved if
you want. And they're waiting for Aaron Rodgers. Now I
go to a couple of things. Number One, they already
had to Ben Roethlisberger experience. And what I mean by
that is Hall of Famer, great couple of Super Bowl titles,
but towards the end falls off, and he wasn't that
for a handful of seasons. And my thing is Aaron Rodgers.
(15:18):
It's not that he's trash, is not that he's bad.
I just don't think he's what you need. I don't
think he's that now we're gonna win because of him.
To me, I would like it at the ceiling as Russell,
Wiel and Wilson. I think that would be the max.
But I don't think that's what you're gonna get. And
I don't think they will be a playoff team. Now
my thing is why are they going to find themselves
in a position where they're waiting on Aaron Rodgers, who
(15:40):
doesn't know if we want to play? Told him I'll wait, maybe,
don't I'll come back maybe maybe, And then and now
we're getting reports. Maybe they look at Kirk Cousins, Kirk
yo cousin because he's not my cousin, and I don't
understand why those are their options a guy and Kirk Cousins,
who became a backup to the backup Pennix Junior told
a job from him coming off the Achilles injury over
you know, a year ago, So say all, you can't
(16:00):
push off that that foot yet. So I'm just finding
the Steelers in the position. Maybe I'd given them too
much credit. Maybe I thought they were one of the
premier franchises in the NFL, and I had higher hopes
and expectations from them than maybe they did themselves. Maybe
for them, they just want to say, lookie.
Speaker 4 (16:15):
Looky, we just made the playoffs.
Speaker 1 (16:17):
Ooh lookie, looky we went five hundred again, ooh wee.
Because I looked at them as a team that winning
anything less than the Super Bowl is not the standard,
and to me.
Speaker 4 (16:27):
Going to get you on Super Bowl in a long time.
Speaker 1 (16:30):
But you're trying to get out there and put that
type of team together. That ain't it what you're doing.
You don't have a quarterback. The current quarterback is Mason Rudolph.
So you didn't even circle back to your good X.
You went to your third option at prom like I
don't want to go with her, I don't want to
go her. I guess I go with her. That's what
they circle back to and Mason Rudolph. So I'm just
disappointed and the Steelers as a whole. The two guys
(16:51):
you're waiting on. One is just doesn't even know if
he wants to play football, and that's why we're talking
about and Terry Bradshaw. No, no, this is what all people do.
Old people. You if you give old people the platform
and a mic. You've been to your holiday parties with
great Granny. Great Granny was just laying everybody up. Parker,
why was she wearing that? That's why her ex husband
(17:12):
left for Why she doing that? I thought he got
a new car. Y'all let him in the mic and
you hit the Parker when he get out of rehab?
Is he drinking again? You know what granny did? Rob
Gi a boil. I don't talk like that.
Speaker 5 (17:27):
That's why they always be on Twitter with me, like
Rob angry Man waving, yelling at the clouds, you know,
like they were trying to paint me as like some
crazy old man.
Speaker 4 (17:36):
I'm what, I'm a young forty five.
Speaker 1 (17:40):
You know, we all got quiet, all of us, Me
and Martin, Alex, Robgie, we all got quiet right there.
We're like, yeah, yeah you will. Hey, hey, great granddaddy,
how you feel about it? And don't let me tell
you something. They ain't doing it and how we used
to do it. Look at Jill what young women snappers
ain't got it like that? Pull your pants up, going
over there, drinking all the time, smoking at weed like
that's what the old person gonna do.
Speaker 4 (17:59):
And that's what happened.
Speaker 1 (18:00):
Having a canned conversation with Terry Bradshaw, who feels like
if it ain't done how I used to do it, well, Dagon,
it ain't done right Rob.
Speaker 3 (18:06):
Let me just say you're very lucky that Alex and
I have experience working with senior citizen radio hosts. Before
you what before I'm not gonna say who it was,
or when it was or what time slot it was,
but we did run out of the dumb button one
time in the first segment of a show.
Speaker 4 (18:20):
Was that the Morning Show?
Speaker 3 (18:21):
And I will not tell you who did it or
said what, But Alex is like, if he says anything else,
we got nothing to cover ourselves.
Speaker 4 (18:28):
Were about to get fired.
Speaker 1 (18:29):
You know what I think, rob G. I think you like, well,
we know your obsession with old people. I think you
choose these old ships, like let me get with the
old person.
Speaker 5 (18:40):
I think if rob G could put all the old
people on the spaceship and send us away, he would
do it.
Speaker 4 (18:46):
Well, he would be with you.
Speaker 3 (18:46):
I'll be with y'all, know you would people, we'd all
wear velcrow shoes and v NEX shirts.
Speaker 4 (18:53):
I don't get it. We don't have years so old?
What is that? What what you spend a lot of
time with your grandparents?
Speaker 3 (18:58):
Not really, I do got more gray than most people
on this show.
Speaker 4 (19:02):
Well, you know some of us ought to take care
of it. U o Zeppighan. We already know. We got
first hand. When Chris Bussar was on this show. Yeah,
he left some dye underneath the day and there would
dye on the back here right here, on the back
of the juice. It was.
Speaker 5 (19:16):
It was the juice all over. He left some sol
glow juice. Sometimes Chris would be uneven with putting it on.
One side would be really dark, the other side would
be a little light.
Speaker 4 (19:26):
Just I.
Speaker 3 (19:32):
Like it.
Speaker 1 (19:34):
I love it.
Speaker 4 (19:37):
I ran out, I ran out of time, right, get
out of the side. And then Chris would go like,
I'm a little moist right now.
Speaker 5 (19:45):
I don't die. I don't die my hair. We're like, Chris,
why would you? I thought you were a man.
Speaker 4 (19:50):
Of the cloth.
Speaker 5 (19:51):
And then he would saying, I am I used to
be in a postry salesman.
Speaker 3 (19:55):
I said, Okay, we saw it at the super Bowl
at breakfast.
Speaker 4 (20:00):
His hair was totally different than when we saw three
hours later on TV. That's right.
Speaker 5 (20:03):
And I think some of the zabira dripped down into
his eggs.
Speaker 4 (20:07):
If I thought so, at least give me. I thought
that was twelve. I would die.
Speaker 1 (20:11):
I thought that.
Speaker 5 (20:12):
I thought it was cinnamon on his on his eggs.
It was that why you want to rob these pancakes?
Speaker 4 (20:16):
And see you make it weird? You all would make
it weird, see Alex. Remember And it ain't me who
makes it weird? Is this guy right here? A seven
seven ninety nine off five.
Speaker 1 (20:26):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (20:27):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Odd Couple
with Rob Parker and kelvin Washington weekdays at seven pm
Eastern four pm Pacific on Fox Sports Radio and the
iHeartRadio app.
Speaker 1 (20:39):
There was a bunch of sound that came out from
the loss with uh ant Man, Anthony Edwards and now
second year in a row losing in five in the
Western Conference Finals.
Speaker 6 (20:49):
Uh.
Speaker 4 (20:49):
Here's what he had to say a couple of his thoughts.
Speaker 6 (20:51):
He's exciting. I don't know. I don't know what people
would think he would hurt. I mean it's exciting for me.
I'm twenty three. I get to do it a whole
bunch of times. I'm hurt more so for myself for Mike.
I came up short for Mike. Like I said, we
tried last year, we couldn't get it. We try again
this year. I'm gonna try again next year. But hurting
is a terrible word to use. I'm good. Nobody's gonna
(21:12):
work harder than me this summer. I'll tell you that much.
So yeah, I'll try. I'll try to make it happen.
Speaker 1 (21:16):
Again for mikeel Well, that's assuming Mike Conley will be there.
I mean he in basketball terms, Mike Conley is sixty six.
And also they may want to make some moves at
some point. But I will say this, I actually do
believe and his work ethic and going back in the
lab and finding a new thing finding the next year.
I don't necessarily question that he sees from He's proven
(21:37):
to be a hard worker. We all love the fact
that he wants to play all Lady two games. He's
been very vocal about that. He's vocal about challenging. So
I don't question that part from ant Man. I don't
question that he feels hurt. Isn't the word I think
for him. It's motivational. All right, we're gonna come back.
We on your head, and he believes he'll be back
multiple times. The issue where I'm concerned is is ant
(22:00):
Man gonna be the new version of Kevin Garnett? Is
at Man gonna be the ticket Where we never questioned
his loyalty, We never questioned how hard he worked, We
never questioned his desire to win, never question him. On
both ends of the ball, Kevin Garnett was a star
wars on both ends all right, offensively, defensively, a team guy,
(22:20):
probably to fault. He was so team friendly, and yet
he was never able to get it to done. And
I'll never forget John Thompson was interviewing him and he
was like well, what's going on? I see something to
look in your face and he just starts crying. He's like,
I'm losing. I'm losing, and I'll never forget that. Kevin
Garnett wanted to win so bad he just start crying,
I'm losing. And I just think the Minnesota Timberwolves, I
(22:43):
don't think they have exactly what it will take to
get to that next level. And my concern is, are
we looking at a guy that we all love. We
love his game, we love his competitiveness, we love his edge,
we love that he just plays on both sides of
the ball. But will this team, this franchise get him
to the next And I don't think they will. And
I think ant Man will win a championship. But it
(23:05):
might be with the Knicks, it might be with you know,
a Laker in seven eight years. It might be with
the Warriors, it might be with some of these the Spurs,
but I don't.
Speaker 4 (23:14):
Think ant Man.
Speaker 1 (23:15):
It could be with the Miami Heat. But I don't
think ant Man is going to win in Minnesota. And
I think he's gonna have a Kevin Garnett like where
we're all like, man, he's playing hard.
Speaker 4 (23:23):
We want him to win.
Speaker 1 (23:24):
We'd like him, but he might have to go elsewhere
to do it. This franchise hasn't proven to do nothing
over the years. They've had some good teams over the
last twenty plus years. They got rid of some of
the guys you think they wouldn't get rid of. They
got rid of Karl Anthony Towns. They brought in Julius Randall.
That doesn't really work. They didn't stick with Towns and
continue to ride him and at Edwards and see what
they can do. After going to the Western Conference finals,
(23:46):
they get rid of Jimmy Butler, who you know has
been proven to be good in the postseason. And again
looking at the way they I hate to say it
wasted Kevin Garnett. And some of it is the fact
that they're in the Western Conference with a bunch of
other talented teams. There's okay, Steve, continue to just stand
in their way for the next five year. Did the
Nuggets make a move and get in their way for
the next few handful of years. Do the Warriors bounce
(24:07):
back and make a move. Do the Lakers do something now?
They got Luca Lebron and something else. So I just
concerned that he will want to do it. He'll be
loyal to the Timberwolves, but ultimately he'll have to go
win somewhere else.
Speaker 5 (24:19):
Totally disagree. I think that the comparison is not legit.
And here's why.
Speaker 4 (24:26):
One guy is.
Speaker 5 (24:26):
Twenty three years old and he's been to the Western
Conference finals twice two years in a row.
Speaker 4 (24:31):
And guy got you. He didn't make it out of it.
He didn't get to the title.
Speaker 5 (24:34):
Okay, Hey, Kevin Garnett was twenty eight, who started his
career when he was twenty Right, so here are but
like eight or nine years.
Speaker 4 (24:43):
This guy's been there twice already.
Speaker 5 (24:47):
Number two, they have new ownership that just took over
like three months ago, two months ago with.
Speaker 4 (24:53):
A Rod and his group.
Speaker 5 (24:54):
This ain't the old Minnesota Timberwolves ownership. That guy might
not have been in in winning A Rod and his group.
I don't believe her in that. And uh, when I
think about Kevin Garnett and where they were, I just
think it's a different time and era, and I agree
(25:15):
with you. It's a tough Western Conference and the idea
that this guy has gotten there already and they need
to make one other move or some other situation the
same way, and we keep seeing different teams go every year.
It's not inconceivable the way Denver went to her A championship,
(25:36):
and now we're seeing Okac. I just don't think it's
that far away, or you're making it like, oh my god,
well that's two years in the row. They didn't get there,
so it's all over and it's exact opposite to me.
Speaker 4 (25:47):
I'm looking at.
Speaker 5 (25:48):
It saying that there's a great chance if you make
the right tweaks. And then I heard what he said,
and that's the greatest thing you could hear. No one's
gonna work harder than me and the AUS. That's all
you can ask for the kid. He's twenty three, not
twenty eight. Kevin Durant, Kevin Garnett. Garnett he left because
(26:10):
he had played there for like what was it, rob
g nine or ten years? Then he stole when he
was in high school. He played there ten years and
they finally got there. Right, this guy's had immediate success
at twenty two, twenty three, he's been to the Western
Conference finals. He has to feel like I'm knocking on
the door. All we need to do is make another
(26:32):
move of another situation. So I don't think that he's
Kevin Garnett at all. I think that he is going
to with new ownership and with his desire that he's
that close. And looking at the NBA, it's not your
father's NBA where you got teams. This is Lebron every
year it Steph Curry and them. I'm not looking at
(26:53):
the Worriors long term. I'm not looking at the Lakers
long term. I'm looking at the younger players that were
starting to see and no situations. So I think that
he has a chance, and there's no reason for Minnesota
to panic and go like, oh, we can't get it
done here.
Speaker 4 (27:08):
Oh my god. They just took over the team two
months ago.
Speaker 5 (27:10):
I'm thinking full they were minority owners, but I mean
now that they're the owners, I guarantee you, guarantee you
that a Rod is not in this to just be
in it. That he wants to win a championship and
to be that close two years in a row. And
I ain't close. I mean obviously four games to one,
but I mean in it. You got to be in
(27:32):
the Western Conference finals to have a chance, you know
what I mean. So I'm expecting that to happen.
Speaker 1 (27:41):
My issue though, is I go back to great example
of kar Anthony Towns. They had a chance in the
Western Conference finals, and they tried to dump taxes right there.
They don't want to pay it, and that is a
real thing in all sports.
Speaker 5 (27:51):
But you also think that maybe they didn't think that
he was the guy that they want to soak the
money into.
Speaker 4 (27:57):
And a lot of people, even Nick fans, are like,
is he really that guy? As you saying that he's
better than Julius Randall.
Speaker 5 (28:04):
Well, but they're also gonna be knocked out. So he
went to New York on the team. So I'm just
saying yes on paper, but does that mean you're gonna
win or win with Anthony we call Anthony Townsend. My
big thing is the type of money that he's gonna
be paid compared to Julius Randall. That might not be
the money I want to give to anybody. And I'm
going back to a couple of things I just took over.
Speaker 1 (28:25):
Yeah, the team, I'm not saying they this is there,
this is their run, but I'm talking about just looking
at the history of that franchise. And again, I don't
question ant Man's desire, just like I did with Kevin
Garnett just like I did in his work ethic. It's
and he's playing on both ends of the ball. Who
can they get Can they get free agents to come
to Minnesota, and I don't know, they don't often get
big time free agents.
Speaker 4 (28:44):
Can they get the right guys?
Speaker 1 (28:46):
And again last point, again, the Western Conference is crazy
right now. You got a bunch of young Houston's coming,
Denver's gonna still be there, Okay, see might have it
a lot for four or five years.
Speaker 4 (28:56):
So yeah.
Speaker 5 (28:57):
But the difference is you're saying Kevin Garnett ten years
it was.
Speaker 4 (29:01):
He was twenty.
Speaker 1 (29:02):
I can't go to the future. I can't tell you.
I can't speak for.
Speaker 5 (29:06):
Nobody was twenty eight years old just to get to
the Western Conference he had never been. That's totally different.
That's a guy who's who's uh has loyalty team, who
doesn't want to run away from a situation. Anybody could
have said, why would you stay there ten years? You
should have left after five or six years. Ant Man
is a young player, twenty three, he's been there twice.
(29:27):
It's not to say it's apples and oranges.
Speaker 4 (29:29):
It's not the player, it's the organization.
Speaker 1 (29:32):
That's what I'm trying to about where he is and
what I'm saying is too. This could be a Dann
Marino where you don't want to also just I'm gonna
be here several times. I know he hopes that and
believes it, but you gotta take advantage when.
Speaker 4 (29:45):
You get there. And he went one time it was
even too.
Speaker 1 (29:48):
But this is not even the finals, Rob Da have
Arina went to the super Bowl? You keep out like
it's the finals. No, but you're talking about being at
the finals.
Speaker 5 (29:54):
You just compared him to Kevin Garnett, who had to
wait till he was twenty eight years old. He came
out of high he played ten years, eighteen to twenty
eight just to get to the Western Conference finals. Is
not the same as a guy who's twenty two and
twenty three who already made it There I'm saying, if
I'm looking at it, I'm not saying, oh my god,
it's gonna take me ten years.
Speaker 4 (30:15):
No, we're close. You hope you're close.
Speaker 1 (30:17):
And I like it, and I love what he's about,
and he better, he and the team better not resting
the laurels and just think oh it's automatic, because it's not.
Speaker 4 (30:25):
Who said it was that he just said he's gonna
work as hard as he can. He just say it's
automatically I'm talking. I just said he and the team
robbed the team.
Speaker 1 (30:31):
I keep saying that it is not my concern.
