(00:25):
You're listening to Fox Sports Radio. It's al Playoffs season,
Divan Ketch, Touchdown Patriots, a time when The Dan Patrick
Show truly shine and Frosty the Snowman you can drink

(00:47):
the sweet nectar the end zone from the guys making
the plays. He's Russell Wilson, Seahawks quarterbacks Drew Brees joining
us Dan Patrick Show to the guys breaking it down.
Chris Collinsworth, the great analysts for NBC's Joe Buck called
the Action Fox. Nobody covers the NFL like The Dan
Patrick Show. We're gonna win the Super Bowl. We're bringing
in all these guys to catch any moments you missed.

(01:08):
Download The Dan Patrick Show app in the iTunes Store
or Google Play. So we've closed the book on the
twenty tenths. Goodbye. A new decade is upon us. Twenty

(01:29):
twenty and there's no better time for self reflection to
decide how we can become better, more well rounded human beings.
But for Dan it's an impossible test. I mean, what
do you improve upon perfection? Certainly not his silky smooth jumper,
oh oh jumper, nor his incredible interviewing skills. Dan Patrick

(01:51):
doesn't perfect. I guess he could be a little better
about acknowledging how wonderful he truly is. I got a
Marconi over there for the radio host for the year,
and I got some around here, but I don't want
to talk about me. But ultimately twenty twenty will again
be the year of the Dan Patrick's Show, broadcasting from
the Mercedes man Ka. How many days can you say

(02:11):
Happy New Year's or is it the end of the
week and then we're done? This is the Dan Patrick Show.
You think I can, I can say it in his voice.
This is the Dan Patrick Voice with Rob Parker in
Kelvin Washington. I don't know bad though, well, thank you.
As I was doing it, I was like, it's not
actually not that bad. It wasn't bad. Rob Parker and

(02:31):
Calvin Washington with you and for Dan and the Dan
Dance on this Friday January third, couple of days, a
few days into the new year. Happy New Year to you.
I saw you on the day before New Year's Eve
on accident. Oh yeah, when you came in and you
weren't scheduled to work, and we looked at you as
you walked into the door and said I looked. I

(02:53):
was like, I see my co host is here already.
I knew we were gonna work together. At some point
I thought maybe I had the day wrong, but I
was glad you had to do your face. Didn't have
a lot of concerns. YESU yeah, And then that immediately
is what tipped me off that wait a minute, I'm
a day early. But then that's the worst than that though, right,

(03:15):
for sure, it was terrible, but I got to uh
you know, it for sure had me up ready for
the rest of my day. But here we are today
and uh so a lot to get into. Rob Parker.
You can always reach out to him Rob Parker FS
one on Twitter, myself k dub Live and quickly, what
all do you have one tap today? Because you have
seventeen jobs. No, there's not that many, but yes, it

(03:37):
is a triple header a hat trick. First, I'll fill
in here with you one the Dan Patrick Show Fox
Sports Radio did locally in Los Angeles. I'm on AM
five seventy from noon to three Pacific on Rogan and
Rodney filling in for those guys, and then the odd
couple tonight Fox Sports Radio me and Chris boussard Uh

(03:58):
seven to ten pm Eastern. So that will be my
trifecta for the day and the two week holiday. I've
worked every day in a couple of double triple ships. Yeah,
I need you. I don't know if I'm like impressed
or if I want you to get a hobby like
I don't know which one, like Joe, I need you
to join a bowl of something, right, get to golfing
or something, because that's that's incredible. Now. It's just you know,

(04:19):
when you're a divorced guy, you don't have any kids
and the holidays come around, you know what I mean?
That is how you go to Antartica exactly. See, that's
how And last day, I gotta that's the last one.
We got a lot to get to. You gotta get
into something I know you're excited to, which is the
Cowboys and the soap proper. You're a man of soap
oppers back in the day. It's like Dallas might as
well be you know what you call that was what

(04:40):
you're into. All. Yeah, So we'll get to Antarctica in
a minute, because I have all the questions about that.
We'll get to that, but right now, let's talk about
the soap opper that is and the Cowboys right now.
And they're to move on from Jason Garrett. But I'll
say this, mister Parker, no coach as soon as the
end of the season. They call it black Monday, no coach,
no teams black every day for me, I don't know.

(05:03):
I said that to Broussari the other day, but we
mentioned black Monday, said why is black associated with bad things? Okay,
what's up with that? And then we argued about black Friday.
That's kind of here there. No coach except for Lovey Smith,
has lasted longer than three days it took to release
that coach or fire that coach. Lovey Smith is as
long as at three. Here we are now at day four,

(05:25):
day five, depending on how you're looking at it. And
Jason Garrett is still not officially released from the team,
if just a matter of just waiting till his contract
ends January fourteenth, where they can say, because you were
so beloved, you're part of this family, we're not going
to fire you. Though. We've all had contracts and you

(05:46):
get whatever way you want to paint it. If you
don't get renewed, you've been fired, okay, plain and simple.
But in this case, I'm not totally surprised at the
Cowboys and what they're doing because basically, he's been a
good soldier for ten years for Jerry Jones. They play,
he played for the Cowboys, his brother works for the Cowboys.

(06:08):
Jerry runs it like a mom and pop store. It's
like he's one of his sons. He's allowed Jerry to
pull the strings right and basically coached the team without
coaching it. And Jason has been the guy who's taking
all the brunt over these years, right, all the talk,
everything going on. Jerry's having press conferences before the coach

(06:29):
even talks to the media after games, Jerry has a
talk show in Dallas. All the stuff that you would
never want as a coach, Jason has taken. And that's
why Jerry's having a hard time because it's like a
family member. He's so much a part of Jerry's world,
in Jerry's life, I thought, and Edwarder's report at least

(06:52):
last night, is that he's not going to be a
part of the organization. That surprises me, that Jerry's not
gonna find a nice job for him. You know, still
in Dallas. You know, say spin it, say it's a promotion.
He's moving upstairs. We need his knowledge, his insight, do
you know what I mean? On our organization. That's an

(07:13):
easy way to spend it. Dallas doesn't. Jerry doesn't look
bad that he made a mistake with Jason. Jason missed
the playoffs seven out of ten years. They had a
stat that came out in all four major sports, no
current coach who had coached for the same amount of
time ten years had not won a championship. The only

(07:35):
guy who got to stick around for ten years without
winning a championship currently Jason Garrett. And that's why I
believe that it was about Jerry his relationship, and that's
why he hasn't pulled the trigger. He should have been
as Skip Bayless said on Undisputed the other day, he
should have been fired that Sunday after they lost to

(07:56):
the Eagles. Remember that game, right, after that when when
they lose that game, depleted right Eagles, he could have
let them go right then and there. It could have
been over well. So you you mentioned and you brought
up a lot of things. Uh, he reminds me of
kind of and I don't even know if you've had
this success where you felt like, at least he's the
coach kind of Marvin Lewis just stuck around and and

(08:18):
he won just enough where you could, depending on how
you wanted to, whatever your bias was, you could say, look,
he's winning, he's getting a team in the playoffs. They're
not winning the Bengals, but get they will owing seven? Right,
But they were, And Jason Garrett has had chances that
so many don't get. Uh. He has had chances where,
especially and arguably America's team, that you wouldn't get. Generally

(08:40):
you're thinking, if I'm in a high position, high profile position,
I have to win, right, I have to validate why
I'm in this position. But it also just goes to
show how important and how valuable it is and to
all you kids and college students out there to just
get along, to just be someone's guy. As you mentioned,
sometimes that's as valuable as actually the productivity of your

(09:01):
tenure and finding a way to be someone that they like,
someone that they believe in. And if you don't think
in sports, like most businesses, there is nepotism, or there
is just I like that guy, then you know you're
kidding yourself, and he's clearly a case of that. At
no point have you ever felt like Rob Parker that
his team was all in for him. When you watch

(09:22):
you whatever you want to say about Mike Tomlin, I
see that his players are in with him. Yes, joy's
gonna have one or two. You're gonna have Antonio Brown
here there because you got a team of fifty three guys.
But for the most part, I feel as though his
team wants to ride with him. I feel as though
his team is motivated by him. I think we see
that this year when some argue this has been his
greatest coaching job. You remember how Lebron James kind of

(09:46):
elbowed his way past Eric Spoisterer because he didn't quite
believe in Eric Sposter. Remember that everybody made anything of it.
I feel like that's how it goes in Dallas, where
if I have issues with a team, I go straight
to Jerry Jones five issues with the offense. I go
straight to Jerry Jones or didn't, no doubt about it,
because he's that kind of owner and he's so involved
and you talk about you know, there's two ways of

(10:09):
looking at Jerry Jones and his uh friendship and relationship.
Uh it's great, you've got a job, you're around for
ten years, But did Jerry really use you and put
you in a spot to what other general manager could introduce? Uh,
Jason Garrett as a new head coach when you haven't
missed the playoffs seven out of ten years? Do you

(10:30):
know what I mean? Like? But you could go by
wins though, I mean you could. He's won, he's you know,
decently over five hundred. But as a general manager, that's
a hard sell. Here's here's a guy that never got
to the NFC Championship game, who missed the playoffs seven
out of ten y years? Do you know what I mean?
And to look at I would be shocked if he
got hired as a as a fun somewhere else. I

(10:51):
don't think he has to get hired. If he's let
go today, I don't think he has to get hired Saturday.
No no, no, but the idea that he's not going
to get a job within a couple of years due
He've seen some hires where we all scratch our heads
were You've seen some hires where they bring out the
coach of the press conference. He's even shocked to get
the job. He's like, Okay, what did I do to
get this? Do you mean Cliff Kingsberry? Cliff, No, But
that's a great example. Well, he got fired at Texas

(11:13):
Tech and didn't do anything. He didn't do it. Didn't
that an amazing because he had a cup of coffee
and a sweet roll with Sean McVay. Somehow he was
the new hotness. And if you're if you're there, but
Jason Garrett, I'm just saying i'd be hard press. What
does Jason Garrett do? What does he get Jerry Jones?
What if Jerry Jerry Jones owns another team or something
or calls up a buddy and says, yeah, he I'm sorry.

(11:35):
Is there anyone more the face of the league than
Jerry Jones? And maybe Tom Brady? So if Jerry Jones
gives you a ring and he says, ah, that's just
my guy. He's my kind of guy, and he goes
on and on and tells you about how maybe there's
things behind the scenes we don't know, and why he's valuable.
I could see somebody saying, all right, Jerry, Jerry, he's
your guy, but you let him go, right, Well, I
gave him a decade. I gave him a decade? How

(11:58):
much more time? And now the reports are the leading
candidate to replace him once he is officially gone is
Josh McDaniels. Which didn't see that coming. Well, we've seen
that act. He did get fired in Denver. I guess
it was interesting he got fired. Let me see what happened.
He was caught filming another team's walk through. How did

(12:21):
that happen in Denver? That's amazing? You know, does camera
does camera equipment come with him when he gets a
new gig? Is that Does that come? In Dallas? Man?
You know how when you're like a former president you
get secret service for the rest of your life. Do
you just get secret surveillance cameras for the rest of
your associated with the Patriots? They just give you here
you go, Hey, here's your here's your parting gift. We'll
give you some cameras whenever you using whatever you need,

(12:42):
whether it's in Cincinnati or anywhere else. And we're gonna
talk with Adam Kaplan, an NFL insider for Fox Sports Radio.
He's gonna come and hit by, give us some more
insight of some other names and different things as Dallas
starts to look. And the biggest thing to me, Kelvin
is is Jerry Jones finally going to, you know, give
up some power and let the football people do it.

(13:03):
And that's been the issue. It's not just the ten
years of Jason Garrett. Cowboys have won four playoff games
in twenty five years and there's only one constant, and
it's Jerry Jones. So that's why he's run away. And
guys haven't taken wouldn't want his job, you know what
I mean, because they know what they're getting. Jason Garrett
Delwood didn't never said anything. But now as you look, now,

(13:28):
which way is Jerry gonna go? Well? As you get older,
do you become more receptive and open minded or do
you become even more stubborn and in your ways? Are
you looking at me? I can tell you I didn't
mean to. I was trying to be like, give you
one eye, Give one eye on the clock, so I
can know what we're gonna break here. Yeah. But by
the way, I like the beer though, I like I
like the gray is a little something, but I liked it.

(13:50):
I like it. Okay, it looks you know, you look,
you look manlier. Okay, the big beer going on. You passed,
you went past November with it. I respect that. But
that's but that's what I think about everybody. You know,
if I haven't relinquished some power, some control of a
team when I was in my sixties my seventies, he's
heading towards eighties, right, is he not already there? I mean,
is he going to do it all of a sudden

(14:11):
he's don't. You generally become even more stuck and stubborn
in your ways, and this especially when you're coming desperate
to win before you move on to the upper room.
Well yeah, because here's the only problem is that he
already is in the Pro Football Hall of Fame. He
did win three when they first took over. I brought

(14:32):
the team, they won three out of four, so he
has all that. Yes, he wants to win again, but
I still believe because of Jimmy Johnson was the engineering
architect of that. He wants to win his way right,
and that's why I can't see him ever giving in
or changing or saying here's a football guy and a
football coach and I'm out of it. I'm not gonna

(14:54):
have a radio show. I'm not doing interviews. I'm just
gonna be the owner and sit up in my box
and obtained. I just don't see that. Then that means
there's either gonna be another ugly divorce like Jimmy Johnson,
or you're not gonna get a guy like an Irvin
Meyer who's gonna come in with Iran is not gonna
accept that. I mean he's coming in with a program
in mind. That's some more questions that we can ask.

(15:14):

Sedan Patrick's Show with Calvin Washington, Rob Parker, and for
DP and the dan Ants. Hopefully you've had a wonderful
week thus far celebrating a new year. Any New Year resolutions? Brother, Nah,
I just make a list of things I want to
accomplish in the course of the year. And I have
about five or six on my list. That's all I do.
Five or six, I don't know. I don't know. Last

(16:25):
show was twelve, Oh did eleven? Eleven? What was her name?
The one always? What was her name? I can't divulge
that she did? She carry into twenty twenty. She made
the cup for twenty twenty. I'm with you. I didn't
have any specific resolutions because you already know, like we
all know, whether it's a new year or not, you
need to eat better exactly so and so things like that.

(16:48):
For me, save more money, save more money, well that
is you all day, save more money? You know? Is
there are you selling clothes out of here by the way, Yeah,
the store rob for less, that's right, did you see? Yeah?
It saw it? And I was embarrassed for you. No, no, no,
that's a good deal. I'm an entrepreneur who's buying shirt.
You know that. Man, we will one of these days.

(17:08):
You'll understand me. I'm trying and I have much there
my empire. You know I have an empire. All right,
let's get to somebody else who has a football empire
and the football empire of knowledge. I don't want to
talk to you anymore about your business. Adam Kaplan is
joining us now, NFL Insider, you can always reach out
to him and see what he's got going on at
Kaplan and at Fell Adam, how are you happy tapping
at him? Rob? Gonna talk to you you, getting gonna talk

(17:31):
to you, guys. Yeah. Look, it's a big weekend here,
wild card weekend. Looking forward to the coaching stuff. It's
gonna be fun. It is gonna be fun. What's not
fun it's always having to talk about the drama that
is surrounded by the cowboys. I know, maybe it's fun
for you, it's great for business. Um, But here we are,
now where Jason Garrett. I was telling Rob earlier that
if you look at the history of NFL coaches who

(17:53):
were not retained who are actually let go, none lasted
longer than I think it's three days, and here we
are four or five days and Jason Garrett still as
his job, at least officially he does. What do you
make it? Josh McDaniels is right now the leading candidate
for the job. Someone reporting what have you heard and
what do you think of the situation where we are
right now with the Cowboys. Yeah, so, guys, what I
really think is going to happen is Josh McDaniels is

(18:14):
going to interview with the Browns and some other teams
next weekend. The Browns want him to be their head coach.
He's from that area. They've tried three separate times over
the years. He's turned them down. This one, I believe
is going to take the interview. So here's the question.
Why would Josh McDaniels take an interview with the Browns
being how much chaos they've had over the years. Well,
Tom Brady's contracts up. What if Brady us and returned

(18:35):
to the Patriots. He doesn't have a quarterback that to
me would be one reason to take that job or
certainly the interview. As far as the Cowboys, the way
I understand it, with Jerry Jones at seventy seven years
old and they haven't been able to get where they want,
they're going to look for an experience coach, whether it's McDaniels,
Lincoln Riley, a college coach has had a lot of experience,
Urban Meyer. I don't see him taking God without experience.

(18:59):
That's really not the way look at it. And then
the other one, the surprise would be because they're not
interview with anyone yet because it's not official yet with
Jason Garrett that we expect to be with the next
forty eight hours. If Mike Zimmer does not get retained
by the Vikings, remember next season he will be his
option year. That's one name to look at. Remember, he's
got a very good relationship with Jerry Jones, and the

(19:20):
Cowboys had something to keep an eye on Adam as
Jerry though ready there's only been one constant in the
last twenty five years when the Cowboys have won four
playoff games, and it's Jerry Jones. You know, it's one
thing to say you want to go get a veteran
guy and guy would experience, or a big time college coach.
Is Jerry ready to step aside and let them do football?
People do their thing? And that was always the thing

(19:43):
with Jason Garrett. He could basically run the team and
be the coach through Jason Garrett. Is Jerry ready to
realize or that it hasn't worked with him running the operation?
Rob he will never give up his role as a
general manager. He's not only just the he's the only
slash general manager owner in the National Football League. He

(20:04):
won't give it up. No matter how many people have
suggested to him that he gives it up, he won't
do it. He's got a great personal man and Will
McClay who he does listen to. I know Will McClay
from Detroit, and you're right, he's a good man. He's
a great evaluator. By the way. And here's another little
nugget for you. He's turned down I'm told multiple chances
to be at a GM over the years with other

(20:24):
teams he's done. He's turned it down, mostly because of
family situations. But you have to ask him this question.
At some point, man, do you because you know you're
not going to get control with Jerry Jones, When are
you going to take an interview with another team to
be a GM. He hasn't done it yet, but I
have to think that he's got He's got to look
at that and revisit it. But to answer your question directly,

(20:45):
I'm told there is zero chance as long as he
owns the team, which will be until he can't do
it anymore. He's not given up personal control. He'm not
going to do it. Yeah, Adam Kaplan with his now
NFL Insider again and Kaplan NFL on Twitter. Hey Adam,
what about of course, because it's the Cowboys, we're going
to talk about them the most. But there are some
other opportunities, coaching opportunities and vacancies out there. What are

(21:07):
the kind of the best that you see available and
are you hearing any names to fill some of those spots. Yeah,
we talked about Cleveland, and I've talked to a lot
of people about the Cowboys opening. The Cowboys opening, and
Rob alluded to it. In a way. It's not attracted
because of the ownership's situation where you don't get a
lot of control, but it is the best roster of
any of the teams. That have openings. John is an

(21:29):
interesting one, but they've got a shaky quarterback situation. The
other thing that you get a little bit concerned about,
and I thought that we were talking about it last
night a little bit. You get concerned though about the
contractional situation with the Cowboys because right now they have
they're not there yet with Dak Prescott or Mary Cooper's contracts,
so you've got to take a look at that. But overall,

(21:51):
just roster wise, from talking to some of the head
coach a candidates, Cowboys one Brown's number two Giants have
real major issues the offensive line and defense. So I
would say right now the Colbury system a roster standpoint.
But the problem is when you look at every situation here.
Out of all the ones that are open, and of
course Dallas is going to open soon, none of them

(22:14):
are clean. Where you going you don't have to worry
about one pickle issue. There are a lot of issues
with each one of them. So Adam, we got you
mentioned it a little bit about Josh McDaniels. With the
possibility of Tom Brady moving on and the Patriots and
playing that wild card game against the Titans, where are
you on the storyline which a lot of people have.

(22:37):
Brady's put his house up for sale in New England,
so did his trainer. He has a house in southern California.
There's talk about the Chargers looking at him because they
need to sell tickets for the brand new stadium that's
opening up next season and all that. What are you
hearing about? Could this be Brady's last game? It's definitely
gonna be his last game at Foxborough regardless you know

(22:59):
this season, But what is this is last game there? Rob?
It's interesting for every year people bring up that this
could be it with bradon Belichick and I said, it's
not going to happen. They're not there yet. This is
the first time that I think there's a realistic chance
that Brady leaves. He's turned down so many good deals.
He's actually had an opportunity to get much better deals

(23:19):
with the Patriots. He's done the right thing. He's taken
team friendly deals. He's got a chance at forty three
years old, which he turns in August, to get an
even better contract. Because Tom Brady becomes a free agent,
he has tremendous leverage, just like Peyton Manning did when
he became a free agent when the Colts cannot reach
a deal to revive this contract. I really believe that

(23:40):
there's a realistic chance. Again, first time you could actually
believe that it could happen. Despite what other people were
saying for years it was never going to happen. Tom
was not ready to move on. But I think this
is the first time you mentioned the house being up
for sale. I think there's a realistic chance. I wouldn't
count it out him coming back, but I think it's
the first time we could realistically talk about the potential
of him moving on. And the Chargers, I mean people

(24:03):
looking to Chargers, but they make sense. They have a
good defense, they have some good receivers, they can run
the football. There's a lot of things that Brady could
plug in and try to do. What And I think
it's a legacy question because if Brady could somehow some
way get to a Super Bowl or win it, you
know what I mean, with another team, that would break

(24:23):
that thing that it was always about Belichick system and
Brady could say I've moved on and I was still
able to win and Rob how many times if people
have brought up in the past, Okay, neither guys want
to sir both without the other guy. Yea. So there'll
be instrit to see if that happens. And remember, the
other question was who will leave first? Will it be
Brady leaving for another team or Belichick retiring. So I'm

(24:47):
gonna stick with what I'd said from day one. I
thought Brady would move on first. Here. The other question
is will Belichick coach to a seventy He always said
he wouldn't, but there's been no indication that he's willing
to move on and retire yet. Is he's doing a
great job. They're still very good, though I don't think
they get to the super Bowl. This is not a
vintage New England team. Yeah, I totally think one of
them is gonna Both of them are gonna want to
say I did it without you to coach another two

(25:09):
or three years. Yeah, because if you think about it,
Adam and Rob, you know, if you're Tom Brady, in
the back of your mind or other people's mind, is
the fact that, hey, whenever you left, the team still
had success. Right. Matt Castle looked good, Jacoby Brissette looked good,
Jimmy Garoppolo. So you're just in this system, and I know,
we all know Tom's great, but I think there is
an element of him that wants to go and prove
it himself. And Bill wants to say I can do

(25:31):
it with anybody. So one more Adam for me, reports
that you have JJ Watt gonna be able to play
in his game and we all thought maybe he was
done for the season. Where is he right now and
how effective could he be? Yeah, this is a four
to six months injury, so you're looking at fifty to
sixty percent healing. Remember he had a repaired so to

(25:52):
Kwon Alexander or the outstanding linebacker for the forty nine
ers just trying to come back from his injury before
the Super Bowl. If they can get that far, uh,
something we could talk about another time. But the fact
better with with um with what it's not gonna be
anywhere close to one hundred percent. He's going to have
to figure out a way to be able to wrap
and tackle. I know that you know you're not hitting
in practice, but my understanding is he thinks he could

(26:14):
go in and playing a lot of snaps. But again,
how effective he's going to be with it fifty sixty
percent healed? This is the basic way This is almost
on precedent for a player to come back from a
repair for a tour inpactural muscle to come back this early.
And here's the other problem. If he goes and he
reinjers it, he's got it. He's got another long rehab ahead.
But he's clearly willing to risk it. And by the
way they they they've cleared him to let him play.

(26:37):
So this is gonna be one of the storylines to
watch in this game. And I give, by the way
I give, the Bill is a real shot to win
that game on the road. How about you know people
are saying that. And the other one is a lot
of people like the Titans at the Patriots. Where are
you one that grebel is the former player, right who?
And Belichick knowledge Belichick has lost to his h while

(26:58):
his disciples have done that well when they leave New England,
but they have beaten him a number of times. Yeah,
two things, So talking the Titans, guys, the thing that
they have to beat his man coverage and A J. Brown,
they're outstanding rookie has done that at wide receiver out
of Mississippi. And plus they've got they've got the run
game with Derek Henry. That's the bread and butter. I
felt all weak that the Patriots are gonna try to

(27:20):
stop the run here, probably load the box and take
their chances with Gilmore versus Brown. My problem is here
for the Titans. Though I did pick them in the
win the vision, they didn't, but they're in the playoffs.
You've got a rookie play caller, Arthur Smith has done
a great job, but that is a major challenge for
him to be able to beat Belichick. And you know
they're gonna They're gonna show them something they they've never

(27:41):
seen before. That is why I'm gonna pick the Patriots
to win. Okay, it's hard to pick against them, but
you know, the Titan team is rolling right now. Tannehill
is looking like the second coming to Brady right about now.
And they won the running game. Yeah, that defensive end
known as a running back, I mean running back, Derek Henry.
My goodness, we never want to tackle that. Hey, Adam,
we have apreciate it. Man, Thanks for the time, and

(28:01):
again the first time I've talked to you in the
New Year, so happy New Year. I appreciate him kapling again. Yeah,
good stuff in that NFL for sure. And we're going
back to the Jason Garrett thing. I mean, it's just
I just keep thinking about how many people there's a
salesperson right now listening. There's an insurance salesman, there is,
there's someone driving a FedEx truck. They're like, man, if
I was that the truest definition of mediocre, I wouldn't

(28:24):
be able to keep my job until Jason Garrett. Just
thinking like, man, to pull off a decade, that's kind
of one. That's pretty impressive. You pulled off a decade
and arguably the most notable franchise and all of American
sports outside of maybe the Yankees and maybe the Lakers. No,
I agreed, those are the three right there. And you
know what, I think people should have been clued in though,
that Jason Garrett was getting away with murder for a

(28:45):
long time because every Friday when he picked up his paycheck,
he usually had a ski mask on. Because see, I
feel the opposite. He walked in bold, no mask, No,
nothing's saying I'm Jason Garrett. Because he has pictures. Heay me,
he knows he knows something. Then again, I said this
to Brussie the other day. We all have seen the
pictures of his boss. We've seen those, all right, Uh,

(29:07):
so he kind of dropped a lot on us there.
I do want to throw these throw these by you
real quick, a little deeper. Uh, the coaching vacancies. What
do you think about some of these? Uh? Like, for instance,
the Panthers, good job. No, it's not a tricky job
because of the quarterback situation and if you're moving on
from from Cam right Cam Newton, I don't know. I mean,

(29:28):
you know, the hardest thing in football is to find
that franchise quarterback you could build around. And when that's
in question, and you don't really know. I just think
it's hard. It's not doesn't mean that no one's gonna
take it. It's only thirty two jobs like that in
the country, So I get that somebody will take it,
but I don't think it's that attractive. And what about
the Browns. We we've kind of talked about it and

(29:50):
Josh McDaniels possibly going there. And do you have one
note on this because the Browns just tweeted that they
are set to interview Chiefs offensive coordinator Eric be Enemy.
He's gonna be interviewed by a few Yeah, yeah, that's good.
And uh, he might wind him getting a job. I'm
gonna ask, can he bring Andy Reid with him, because
I mean accept his playoff record. Yeah, well I can't that,

(30:12):
but hey, I'm in the playoffs to have a record.
There's a lot of coaches don't even make it. The
enemy would be the eleventh assistant under Andy Reid to
get hired since he's been coaching. Oh no, he has
a tree, There's no doubt about it. And he has
a tree of making quarterback Kevin Cop right now somewhere
his feet up kickback with millions of dollars in the bank.
Do you even remember Kevin Corn on the cop Yes?
I do, extra butter No, he mean, my goodness, dude.

(30:36):
But Andy Reid that that's always been his thing. It's
about winning that big game that he's just had a
hard time doing. Who knows, maybe this the year when
the AFC is a possibility, especially with the with the Patriots,
and I'm with ad him they can't win three games.
I just I just don't see it, like the way
that the team is set up. But anyway, I would

(30:56):
say Cleveland is an attractive job roster wise, But you
got to look at Baker Mayfield and where his head is,
you know, like he talks about he doesn't want to
change and he is who he is. That that no,
you're leading the organization, We need you to be a
little different. You don't need to rip the medical staff
and the training staff publicly, know publicly and that no,

(31:16):
that's not accepting teammates public yes, not not even in
a sense of when you're talking about just like, hey man,
you know, you know we could have came out a
little harder than now. You know, you're talking about people's money.
And if he's to show up and whoa, whoa whoa.
First of all, you're not you don't even have you know,
they have the captain badge and don't have enough stars
and stripes and bars and stripes. And we saw him
this year take a big step back with the interceptions.

(31:37):
He played poorly this year and was a big reason
on why they didn't meet a lot of their expectations.
And then the other thing is about the personalities. Is
obj gonna be the airs? You're gonna stay? Uh? Cleveland
seemed like it could be cool when when they were
to hotness and everybody thought they were going to the
playoffs and all that, but losing in Cleveland. I don't

(31:58):
know if OBJ wants to stay there, you know what
I'm I mean, once you realize it ain't gonna happened.
I don't think I don't even think the brand of
OBJ wants to be there, right, That's what I mean
here in Cleveland. But but but you just mentioned if
if you don't become typically at the highest level of
any profession without being confident, without having some self you know,
awareness and confidence, and I can do this. I can

(32:19):
get this job done. And if you if you have that,
you've got to be looking at the Cleveland job. I
know Cleveland has been a mess, right you can. You
can throw them in there with the Redskins of teams
that no matter who gets hired, veteran coaches, proven coaches,
super Bowl coaches, winning coaches, they still don't have success.
But at Cleveland, Brown's roster man running backs galore, receivers galore,
a quarterback that is at least looking like he's going

(32:39):
to be a your probable capable quarterback for a decade
in the league. It has to be a little like
tempting to take that Cleveland job because of you. As
you just mentioned, the talent out there and then it's
definitely talent, you know, roster wise uh. And you know,
Freddie Kitchens just was not prepared for that job. That's

(32:59):
why John Dorsey lost his gig because that was that
was a stretch to put that guy with those personalities,
you know what I mean. At that time, it just
looks or trying to build and I need a strong
coach to comand and create a culture and build with
the talent you d those personalities. He started out as
Freddie Kitchens and he wound up being Freddie Bathroom because

(33:20):
it just stuck. It just was not good taking a
call right now. Speaking of calls, by the way, if
you do want to call us again, Rob Parker, Calvin
Washington and for Dan Patrick uh and the Danettes. We
have eight seven seven nine ninety six sixty three six nine,
give us a call. You know, I have material and
I'm ready to go. Even in the morning. I mean
even in the morning. I'm just like, when are you
gonna do? So my fortieth my fortieth birthday, which you

(33:43):
better come. You came to my couple of years ago. Yes,
what is it? It would be not this year but
next year. Okay, I'm going to do a fifteen minute
stand up rotum, Oh, that'll be great. Do you want
to open up? I want to open up. I got
five minutes. Don't bring that joke, okay, And I don't
need them booing me because I don't you setting the
bad mood and bad mojo in the room when I

(34:03):
don't want to do that. Okay, but I do want
to do stand up. Let's go to Gary and Jacksonville.
Want to talk a little bit about the Cowboys. What's
going on? Happy new year, Gary, Happy, healthy new year, gentleman,
best you too, Hey, h Three things real quickly. First
of all, and that idiot Jason mcintar. What about the
job Brian Floydes did Parker considering the front office traded
away everybody to keep that team fighting all the way

(34:26):
till the end. No, he did a good job. It's
hard to knock because you remember they were the laughing stocks.
They couldn't stop. Anybody was awful, and then they started
to dump people and somehow, some way Brian flores As
was able. But when I talk about, uh, you know,
people under the Belichick tree, he still finished five and eleven.
I'm I mean, he did a nice job. But other

(34:49):
than Bill O'Brien, who's probably had the most success, right,
But Bill O'Brien I think has had a little bit
more so. I don't know you could argue Rabel Biting
that he so far since he hasn't had the tenure
of a Bill O'Brien, he's had success, whereas I think
Bill O'Brien, especially the people with the fans in Houston
like Ran like he's kind of Marvin Lewis. Lewis by

(35:09):
the way, it's gonna like turn into an adjective like
Marvin Lewis got to stick around since that. Because O'Brian,
I think you're right, he's had success, but people keep
thinking you're talking about talent. You've had talent but not producing. Obviously,
we'll see what he does in this postseason. But Brian Floyds,
you give him credit, no, a lot. To me, I'll
give him a lot of credit because at one point
we were questioning are his players trying to sabotage him?

(35:32):
That was one of my ten phones. I failed. Don't
worry about trying to figure out one of my ten phones.
Uh yeah, right right, Well, well, because he also did
some sketchy stuff with the Kaepernick dang. Yeah, you know,
and some players. I thought he was a little lot
of bounds. It started off very started rocky, and they
could have given up on him, and I thought they
were I think most of us thought they were going

(35:52):
to do that and that, and that's where they were headed,
and they were taking and they were trying to lose,
and all of a sudden, you realize even in some
of the games they lost, you could tell they were
there competing and trying to win. So I think that's
a credit for him. Credit to him and able to
maybe produce some ws what I think they were five
and four to the last nine, and all of a sudden,
you got to become a team that not to mention
by the way, I mean, is that their nemesis that

(36:13):
didn't that two years in a row ending the season
beating the Patriots. Yeah, well, the Dolphins always seem to
beat them, like one time a year, but it's usually
in Miami because because they do, they have their number.
But that's why I didn't think they would beat the
Patriots in Foxboro in a game that was so important
to the Patriots because it's it's everything they need that

(36:36):
they get the buy they only have to win two
games to get to the super Bowl. That's a big advantage.
And you see all the three years that they didn't
have that, they never made it to the super Bowl,
you know, and no years when they don't have the bye.
I think the percentage is like if you don't if
you don't have a bye, you have a twenty percent
of chance of making to the super Bowl. I think

(36:56):
it's eighty percent if you get a buy or something
outrageous like that. And by the way, you just mentioned
how Miami always beats you know, somehow finds a way
to win in Miami. Miami's undefeated. All Right, you spend
your whole entire winter falling winter in New England, and
I get a chance to go down to Miami. I'm
going to live. And that's the problem. Right, you got
out there, You're gonna I'm out of Foxborough. Listen, Bill Belichick,

(37:16):
You're gonna listen. I've given you all I had all season.
You're gonna have to give me one one weekend where
I active fool and I might lose, But listen, I'm
enjoying Miami. When the last time you've been on oh
was it an nabj abj and National Association of Black
Journalist Convention, which was awesome. Don't forget super Bowl. We're
gonna be down there Fox Sports Radio all week, about
nine days in Miami. But I say, Weed, by the way,

(37:38):
I'm crashing it. Gavin, make it happen. Scott, Scott, if
you're listening, I'm joining some. Scott just rolled over and said,
are you kidding? You ain't going. No, Scott's gonna be
like you know what. This guy's always there and I
need him. I'm gonna bring him something. I can't wait. Now.
It's gonna be a good time. All right, A lot
more to get to. We gotta cut top of the
albur gotta talk to him of course, wildcarp games and specifically,

(37:59):
as you just mentioned, Tom Brady. Tom Brady, is this
his last game? Foxburre. We'll do that a little bit.
Coming up next though, Hall of Fame. The finalists were mentioned.

Driving performance. So ron Hall of Fame finalists is gonna
be I think of fifteen names, gonna be five men

(39:30):
who go in and get their bus made, and they
get their yellow jackets, and there forever can you know,
called a Hall of Famer. Now, as you know, I'm
a Baseball Hall of Fame voter. It's my most prized
possession in my life. It really is. I really take
it seriously. My vote toren for this year. The deadline
was the thirty first. Now, I don't vote for the

(39:51):
Pro Football Hall of Fame. Their procedures are a little different,
where guys come into a room and they make the
case for guys. You know, that's not how we do
it in baseball. But there's a couple of guys on
the list. I guess we could look at and automatically
think that they belong in the Hall of Fame, and
then the other guys. I have a problem because I
just don't know like the procedure and what what are

(40:12):
the criteria? Like base what is a couple of magic numbers?
If you have three thousand hits, you almost automatically a
bunch of home runs, a three hundred wins. You know,
there's some numbers in football. I don't know football. I
think football, then baseball and then basketball in the hockey.
I'll just say, hey, Gavin, you don't know, are you
a hockey guy. Gavin's from southern California. I do like hockey.

(40:35):
All good, you'll be the resident hockey guy here. But Joe, Joe,
you got Detroit's from Joel's from Detroit, which is Shoe
is from Detroit. You gotta be here. He's gotta be
a red wing guy. But it's not that you do.
It's just that clearly you know that you're from Detroit
on a Lions wind breaker pullover and he has on

(40:58):
a Lion's hat and you had in there to go
he's from Detroit. I think we know because nobody painfully
is walking around with the Lions pull over and had willfully.
You know what, there are people cheap people because most
Lions stuff is always seventy five percent off at the
I think I still saw some of your stuff out
there from when you were in Detroit. Your rod for
less stand over there all right. That's Joel and Gavin

(41:21):
hop in on this as well. To your point about
the idea of being criteria, I think the NFL, where
I was going with that was it's the most I
think they have the best where we all go yes
to that guy, like if you like, right off the list,
Troy Paulamalo, right, yes, with the Pitchburgh. We all we all,
we would all say like right away, we're not even

(41:43):
looking at any stats, right, I would just know this
guy was made an impact on the NFL one with
the Steelers. He was there from two thousand and three
to twenty fourteen. I mean, what else do I need
to say? No, there's not much you need to say
about him but that that That's kind of my point
where the NFL does a great job of us. Let's
say this was the first year Lawrence Taylor was up.

(42:05):
We would all go yes, like there's like, you know,
a hall of famer, Whereas in the NBA, you're like
Dwight Howard, Like, if we go on this world, we'll
probably split on Dwight how He had a run, he
had he had a three year stint or so longer
than that, And I would say, no, Mitch Richmond is
a Hall of Famer. I'm like, Okay, Joe Dumars, who

(42:28):
were I'm from Detroit and I'm like, I love Joe,
but is he a Hall of Fame? So the NBA
is one of those leagues where you go, I guess
NFL I think gets it right most of the time.
I think we all go and I think baseball is
the hardest. And that's why for the most part, you know,
they've ruined it over last twenty five years, because now
we will never know, you're gonna have Barry Bonds. My

(42:48):
daughters who are three and one may never see Barry
Bonds in the Hall of Fame. We got, he's got
a couple more years. Yes, I voted for him every
year he's been on the ballot. He by far the
best I ever saw. So why are you able to
look past because and your other peers are not Because
for me it's it's not my job. Does his stats count?

(43:11):
They count? Never been tested positive, true, I'm just going
by what is out there. You could suspect people and
all the other stuff. And here's the other part, I
don't know, Like I don't if there was a test
of everybody in the league during that time and he
was the only one, him and Clemens and social people,
then it would be all right. I believe it was

(43:31):
widespread that people were trying it, and it was the
best of the Druggist steroids. But but the pitchers also
were using it who were pitching to him. So yeah,
so Peo really have an advantage. I don't know right
now on this real quick Edwin James, I'm gonna go. Yes,
I'm gonna go. If it isn't this year, he's gonna
go to that point. You got Zach Thomas of course

(43:51):
with Miami Dolphins and then the Cowboys. Brian Young d
tackle with the forty nine ers for many years and
was talented. Richard Seymour, he jumps out at me some
Super Bowl Wednesday. John Lynch as well. They might even
add into success that he's had. Reggie he's gonna get in,
He's gonna get in. Hall still out there, Tory Hold
as well. So interesting list you can call in on that.

(44:11):
Let us know who you think we're gonna get in
wild card games? Is this the last for Tom Brady?
We'll talk about it next. Fox Sports Radio. Fox Sports

So we've closed the book on the twenty tenths. Goodbye.

(45:26):
A new decade is upon us, twenty twenty, and there's
no better time for self reflection to decide how we
can become better, more well rounded human themes. But for
Dan it's an impossible test. I mean, what do you
improve upon perfection? Certainly not his silky smooth jumper, oh
oh jumper, nor his incredible interviewing skills. Dan Patrick doesn't perfect.

(45:52):
I guess he could be a little better about acknowledging
how wonderful he truly is. I got a Marconi over
there for the Radio Host of the Year, and I
got some Emmy's around, but I don't want to talk
about me. But ultimately twenty twenty will again be the
year of the Dan Patrick Show, broadcasting from the Mercedes
man K. How many days can you say Happy New
Year's or is it the end of the week and

(46:13):
then we're done? This is the Dan Patrick Show. It's right,
it is Then Patrick Show, Friday, January third. Rob Parker, myself,
Calvin Washington appreciate you hanging out with us. You can
reach us if you want to call in eight seven, seven, nine, nine,
six sixty three, six and nine. We'd love to hear
from you, and also reach out to us on social
media as well. You can do so, Rob Parker. If

(46:34):
it's one k U B lick for myself? Is it
just me? Or every time I hear when everybody says
now twenty twenty do year, I always think of Barbara Walters.
That was my moment in life. I needed her to
open up. I don't care what network would should have
done it. She should have done every holiday or you know,
ball drops. She should have just been there. This is

(46:55):
twenty twenty. Like that matter of fact, that's you. Now
we have gifts now, did you if you know the
little gift for Jeff By the way, everybody, what is
a gift for Jeff? We needed Gavin with peanut butter.
Sorry to see see that you can't open up. Take
it back, you can't open up, Joe. I'll be funny,
all right. You got a year and some months to
work on this, all right. They should have just put

(47:16):
Barbara Wats's face on the ball and like the gift
of just this as the ball dropped and we all
needed to see that that was her moment in life.
All right, get out throughout that number one more time,
because we do want to hear from you about what
we're getting ready to talk about here. Eight seven seven,
nine ninety six six three sixty nine, uh, wild card
weekend bills at Texans. You got Titans at Patriots hold
in two games, man, gonna be interesting to me all

(47:38):
and I want to stay right there. We're talking about
the Titans at Patriots. That's gonna be tomorrow eight fifteen
Eastern time. We are right now on the West coast,
will be five fifteen for us UM in Foxborough. But
they don't have it the way that they have it
when they normally win, which is a bye. You mentioned
it moments ago. They've not won a super Bowl when
they did not have a bye. They don't have a

(47:59):
buye I think the numbers are like you have a
twenty percent chance of making the super Bowl, like around
eighty if you get a buy Tom Brady, this is
is last year in the contract. Many are wondering at
this point. Every year he says, you know, I want
to play some forty Now he's forty. I want to
play some forty two. I wota played to forty five.
I don't know how far he's gonna go to fifty.
Fact of the matter is he's looking his age now

(48:20):
for the first time really in his career. And the
question becomes, is this his last time playing if Foxborough?
If he were to lose tomorrow, and we saw that video.
You know, people have been saying endless, have been saying
that he's gonna fall off the cliff for years. Didn't
you see that video of him and his daughter going
off the cliff earlier this year? That was the proof
we saw it. And this year Tom Brady definitely looked

(48:45):
like a older quarterback who's not nearly as good. And
when you look at the second half of his numbers,
remember they started out with those bad teams that beat
up on a lot of bad teams. I think they've
started this season eight. No life was great, but if
you look at a second half, the numbers are not good.
We're not good for Tom Brady. And I do believe

(49:05):
this is it for Tom Brady in New England. And
I know people have said it for years. We talked
to Adam kaplan Uh in the NFL and you know what,
here's the other thing. Stop with it. He has no
weapons or whatever. Tom Brady's narrative has always been he's
done more with less than anybody else. And now all
of a sudden that that's not what people are saying.

(49:27):
That's because he's forty two and Father Time is undefeated.
You can't change the goal line, right, is what makes
Joel who scratted on and screened that in our ears.
If the goal line of what made him great was
he did more than was less, then it can't be.
He's doing it now with less and he don't have
any he don't have no mind. Isn't that why we respect?
And again, who would not love to play with great players, right.

(49:49):
I don't want to belittle the fact that you do
win with great players, for sure. I don't want to
make you know that, but we all know that has
been what they've been able to accomplish it no matter who. Right.
I don't think there's been a more next man up organization.
And then the Patriots, right, I don't care the defensive
side of the ball, special team. They've gotten rid of
a lot of Brady's out. Well, Matt Castle, you're in

(50:10):
and you better ball out. And they go with eleven
and five, ten and six didn't make the playoffs, but
they did win eleven game exactly, so they find a
way to win with whomever is in there. What's happening
now is that making up the difference for not having
those special talented players or receivers. He's not able to
do anymore, and that system in their way of running things,

(50:30):
or at least to other teams are saying, well, this
is basic. We'll just spy Adelman in the middle with
one guy and have our best defensive back follow him.
We'll take him out of the game. What else you have,
Sonny Michelle and that running game that they had for
the last few years, but they've always had a quiet
decent running game recently, not this year, not this year,
and that was the reason they won a year ago.
Sonny Michelle was really really good. And think about this.

(50:53):
Last year Tom Brady won a Super Bowl, had no touchdowns,
a pick and a fumble right in the Super Bowl. Also, uh,
it was so bad for Tom Brady. Normally, you know,
you're looking to give somebody the MVP, right quarterback, normally,
get to them whatever they gave it to Edelman, a
wide receiver who didn't even have a touchdown in the game.
That that is how bad it was up to try

(51:16):
to find somebody to give them the MVP. Last and
Rob when you look at that game, what's funny is
what came out of that game has been kind of
true for both teams or we all went like, oh
that was a fluke, or you know, it's Bill Belichick.
You give him two weeks, he's gonna And of course
the Rams were able to score more than three points
in every game, and obviously this is the last year

(51:36):
they were averaging like thirty five points a game and
they give one eighty nine yard field goal that was
all they got. And but since then we've looked at
the Rams like, man, this isn't the Rams. We knew
this isn't the Rams. We thought they'd be in the
Patriots with that offense. You thought, well, the Rams defense
was incredible. Aaron Donald, defensive player the year. The Patriots
offense hasn't really come back into you know, to form
so and their offense is I'm hearing you hear some

(51:58):
of your people talk about the offense is so complicated
for these young receivers to get. And we've seen it
before with veterans like Chatto Chocinco guys and Sanou Mohammed
Sanou's there who's had an quality career so far, but
Bob so far exactly. Josh Gordon comes over and had
has had you know, mediocre success. Guys you think are
gonna ball out except for save Randy Moss come over

(52:20):
there and they don't do much. And I think it's
because the playbook and design and how they do it
so complicated. But on the flip side, I think it's
really not for the other the other teams. The defensives
are saying, go a whole bunch of crossing patterns, a
bunch of little pick plays, you're not trusting Tom Brady's
arm to go deep. You don't even have a deep threat.
So I feel like defenses are saying we can beat them.

(52:41):
As long as our offense doesn't turn it over to
that great Patriot defense, as long as we don't let
Gilmore get some interceptions, we can we can beat these teams.
You got Fitzpatrick doing fitz magic over there when you
beat him with the Dolphins. Do you where are you
on the whole? Brady leaving his contracts up March eighteen,

(53:02):
and even when they gave him that contract, it was
kind of for gazy. It wasn't a real like guaranteed money.
Tom has always taken less all these years, never got
paid like the big time quarterback. And I think he
resents that now, like you know what I mean? With
this last deal, he kind of was like, wait a minute,
you're giving me the sca. You give me a little
more money up front in the first year. The last

(53:23):
two years are non guaranteed, do you know what I mean?
And he's looking at it going I can definitely move on,
go get paid my last get a nice contract from somebody.
Maybe the charges are you buying that scenario that maybe
the Chargers. I know, people keep you know, scrunching up
their face whenever you say Tom Brady, but he boy,
they have a home here. I mean it made Los Angeles. Well.

(53:45):
I won't that people over a state that I'm sports
because Lebron bought a second I wasn't here. But who
doesn't have a home here? I understand when Lebron bought
the second hold me A lot of people are like,
ah yeah, like they put two and two together. Kevin
Garnett's out of here, at home here for twenty years
in Malibu. He wasn't a Laker, you know, Kevin Kevin Garnett,
I should say Kevin Durant has a house here? He like, right,

(54:07):
guys have homes here? You you have? You have like
seventeen homes. Okay, no, no, no, I only got the
big palatial mansion in Detroit. You have to Detroit. You
have something in New York. You're all over the place too,
So people over if we a better example would be
if we were the Tennessee Titans and Tom Brady bought
a home in Tennessee, I'd be all right, there's something

(54:27):
to that, and then that song would play Tennessee Tennessee, Tennessee, Tennessee.
That's right. If you're in if you're in Malibu and
southern California, San Diego, all these beautiful places down here,
No I get but but but there, maybe we sold
home in New England. Now that's more smoke, right because
because to me, you're why would you be moving. You're

(54:48):
like the creme de la creme. There. You're gonna be
treated like royalty the rest of your life. Most players
never leave the town that they won a championship in
because how were you treat it? You're the toast of
the town. Yes, you don't go back to your whole town.
You don't pay for anything. What you need a table,
you need this? Oh what? Although I think tom Brady
has exceeded that like usual, it's like a Derek Fisher, right,

(55:10):
Like Derek Fisher doesn't want to leave la because yeah,
Peyton Manning, Tom Brady, those guys exceed that. And by
the way, you look at Brett Farr, I think he
literally did. I think he went back to Biloxi, Mississippi,
or somewhere whoever he's from, because twenty two acres because
you're your your money the US currency in Biloxi is

(55:31):
worth twenty times out of mouth down there. It was
like the ram when I was in South Africa. I
was like, wait, how many rams do I get? They're
like seven hundred million rams for one hundred dollars. I
was like, Oh, this is about to be a great trip.
And then you realize that a pack of gum is
seven hundred million rams. You're like, wait a minute, I
got the pack of gum. No, you can get that.
By the way, did you have you ever been No,
not just on your list. I gotta get this. I've

(55:52):
been to Africa, but no puts south of Africa. You know,
this Cape town is just amazing. You're talking about Malibu. Um.
But I'm glad I brought up Brett far for a
moment there because you just talked about Tom Brady and
the Chargers, and I think there is there. I think
I could see why there are lakes or that number
one Tom Brady at this day and age and if
he wants to prove We talked to Adam Kaplan earlier, Hey,
I can win without Bill because a lot of people

(56:14):
you want to say, there's people I know like this, Oh,
this is one guy who's always talking on the radio
and TV. Oh, Rob Parker, I want to call you
the load. I want to disrespect you because they'll say
things like, you know, you guys had to cheat to win,
or you had to do this to win. No, you
had Bill Belichick your whole career. So I think there's
an element of saying if looking at a guy like
Peyton Manning who went on went to a nice ready

(56:37):
made situation in Denver and was that missing link, and
Tom could be saying and he's arguably in better shape
than Peyton Manning was at that around the same had
a whole new spine, you know. And I think Tom
Brady says, man, I can go to a team like
the Chargers in southern California, this new building, bring a buzz,
and I have Keenan Allen, Mike Williams another of a weapon.

(57:00):
But Bosa Ingram on the defense of Derwin James, you
got a squad. I totally agreed. If I can be
that piece, and if they could protect me, I could
do a lot of things, and I could play for
two or three years. And what if he leads the
Charges to a championship, it would be the capping of
it would be hard. For me to even call him

(57:20):
the low Yeah, I mean seriously, for serious, I mean
that would be an amazing thing to be able to
pull that off. Um, I don't know by Joe just
said they'd be bigger than the Lake. Hold on, now
you don't When I moved here eight nine years ago,
I've realized there's nothing big. I don't care that. I
love that later the Doctors, not the Lakers. It's the Lakers,
Dodgers town goes two, yeah, for sure, but nothing's bigger

(57:42):
than the Lakers. Um. But Brett Farve is an example
of like wouldn't you put on par how beloved? Oh yeah,
Brady is in New England area. And when he left
Green Bay and remember he went to the Jets, it
was the championship right with the Vikings, and of course
it ended the way Brett Farve always ends, stay positive rights,

(58:03):
throwing across his body across the field and it's a
pick how many times to playoff games? And like you're right?
And that's why people were shocked when he was on
the list on stead of Drew Brees or Aaron Rodgers
of the top ten quarterbacks for the one hundred. That
was shocking. Where your thoughts on that shocking. I just
Aaron Rodgers also won a Super Bowl, two MVPs and

(58:24):
just go look it up, just google it, same too.
He has the best quarterback rating of any quarterback in
the history of the NFL, and he has the best
touchdown the interception ratio than any other quarterback and he
and it's not even close. He's four to one, four
to one. There's no way he should he should uh

(58:45):
not be on that life. I think it was because
we do this all the time, and once somebody first,
we're like, man, this person is exciting, this person is good,
this person is talented. They're talented, they're talented, and once
that talent doesn't produce, we turn into like where we
start to hate on him. Right, So Lebron is talented, talent, talent,
But then you look at with his twenty ten you're like, well,
he hadn't won anything. And so now it's because people

(59:07):
are going, man, he might be better than Michael, he
might be better than Kobe. Well he hasn't won anything.
And I think people do that with Aaron Rodgers. They
say he's the best of all times, he's the most
talented player, not even just quarterback. Maybe player if I've
ever ever seen and then people say, oh, hold on,
old Joe Montana had four and Peyton had to and
they start doing that and they start taking away, but
they but they they are fail when you just look
at the royal numbers and there's an eye test. I

(59:28):
look at eye tests too. I've watched football my whole life.
I've I've never seen a better quarterback. That's just that's
just me And that doesn't mean he's more accomplished than other. Shoot, well,
I'm just talking about the skills of throwing a flotball.
The only the only person, uh that has me go,
it's Pat Mahomes. He's the first person I go, oh shoot.

(59:50):
As far as ability kind of that that special magic
about them, like how Aaron Rodgers had, you know, for
the first like eight years of his career, Pat Mahomes
is that guy to me where I go like, all right,
this this could be something more wild Card games are
so so quickly before we go to break Titans. Can
they pull this off? I think they can pull it off.
And the other question I just would have, if you

(01:00:12):
want to chime in about Tom Brady, do you think
this will be it for Tom Brady. Are you buying
that this could be possibly his last game at Foxborough,
last game for the Patriots. And where do you think
Tom Brady will wind up? Is this charge your talk
like crazy? Or you know, giants maybe somewhere? Do you

(01:00:33):
see Tom Brady going somewhere else? And could he win
a championship elsewhere? Hey eight seven seven nine six three
six nine eight seven to seven ninety nine six six
three six nine, We want to hear from you, or

(01:01:36):
on Fox Sports Radio and the iHeartRadio app. I'm a
little traumatized right now, It'll be all right. Well, we

(01:01:57):
came back in here. Joe's playing in the Michael Jackson
and I was listening to The Daily, which is the
podcast for New York Times, and they were doing like
their best end of the year kind of thing, right,
and they did a podcast with a pop culture guy.
It was after that Neverland documentary released, and he just
and I never watched it. I just like, you know what,
I just I didn't watch it, right, And I was like,

(01:02:20):
you know what, I'm gonna listen to this, Like, let
me just listen to it. And man, they broke down
so much stuff from it and just a lot of things,
and I just it's like, I I didn't need to
know that, well, I didn't need to almost confirm it.
I should say, not that it's confirmed, but that was
just their side of the story. I'm like Michael Jackson,
but they that's a great song. With that being said,
that's a great song, right there? Are you? Are you
a I can't play listen to somebody who's had a

(01:02:41):
scandal or watch their movie or read their book or whatever.
The thing some people absolutely mentioned some people I think
it's personal. It is. It just depends. I just saw,
like I watched me TV. You know they play older
TV shows. It's like, clearly I don't know that. Yeah,
if you were older, proach, I don't know. It's cool
ETV and like like yeah, it'd be like half but

(01:03:06):
it won't even be channel. It's just be had like
you know, you click on the back of the day
with no klebox you click? Is that how right? That's
it's called me TV and they have old shows on
just to let you know. Perry Mason comes on every night. Okay,
so it's just the point. But my point is I
saw that, uh uh no, it's not me TV. It's

(01:03:27):
uh one of the other old time jacket night no, no, no,
the one that NBC has. But anyway, the bottom line
was the Roseanne Show is going to start on Jannel
started January first, and I did look at that and go,
no way, no, how would I even cancel for you?
Do you know what I'm saying? Right? Can I? Can?
I say that was one for me? It's Sadan Patrick show.

(01:03:49):
Clearly you hear Rob Parker of Calvin Washington. Uh. The
best part of this moment we just shared SOLDI TV.
That's the channels could now see you in some old
bathrooms and slip a cup of Joe looking old. And
here's what's funny about this, exactly looking at an article.
Gotta love it, Gavin Joe. Here's the funny part. During

(01:04:09):
the break here, Rob and I were just talking about
how young he is and even though he's you know,
by age, but he feels young. He runs with young
And then as soon as we come back, you're throwing
your glasses Perry, may you tell me about cozy TV?
In Perry Mason, how do we go from you? Yeah,
I'm because I don't have a wife and kids. I
round running around with young guys. I feel young in heart. Man,

(01:04:32):
I'm young. And we're back to the Nan Patrick's show,
glasses on and Perry Mason, I'm so disappointed. Right at home,
it's his stare list watching Perry Mason. I've fallen and
I can't get up. Man. Let me see your phone.
You might have that old no key and that everybody
all of us had. It was the first phone with
the big bus, not even the flips one. Remember it

(01:04:54):
was just a they called it a candy bar. It
was just phone. Well, so so now you know what
me and Tom Brady feel like. I do have tom
Brady's uh pre game menu. What is it? It's a
sodium free bacon, a cup of decaf coffee at a
chest X ray. That's what it'll happen that the game.

(01:05:16):
Don't disrespect the goat, also known as a load for you.
Speaking of Tom Brady, we want to get some calls
or the question that we threw out was do you
believe this is his last game in Foxborough? Also do
you believe that, if it is, he's gonna either retire
or is he gonna play somewhere else like La with
the Chargers. Uh, let's go to Florida and William William
appreciate the call. Hey, what's up man? How you doing?

(01:05:40):
I'm doing all right? What do you got William? Come on? William?
Oh yeah, all right? Well Tom Brady, I think Tom
Brady going to the Dallas Cowboys. The Dallas Cowboys coach
m Yeah, well if you mean if Josh McDaniel gets
the job. Yeah, the interviewer Josh, so, I think you know,
maybe they might trade that to New England and get

(01:06:03):
bread over there. Dallas then took bo with the telling
all right, they are hot take there, Williams hot take,
appreciate it, thank you for the car. Eight seven seven
nine six three six nine eight seven seven nine nine
six six three six nine. Is that is that as nine?
Is that is that realistic? I mean he would be
a free agent. It would be like do they believe
in Dak all the way they didn't sign him. I

(01:06:25):
mean it's not inconceivable. But do you know what I meant,
charge tag Daks his Dak you. We talked about this earlier,
how Jason Garrett the reason why he hasn't been let
go yet They probably maybe they have let him ride
it out to the fourteens where they can say technically
his contractive inspired and we decided to agree mutually move on. Um,

(01:06:46):
there's something new being family members with Jerry Jones or
you're his guy, if you're Michael Irvin I'm gonna give
you all the chances. Right, if you're Zach, if you're Zeke,
all the crazy stuff that you're doing, pulled down the tank,
you're good. What is that girl's going wild in it?
You're doing this, you're doing that. But guess what, I'm

(01:07:07):
gonna throw you the bag. I'm gonna throw you the
bag of money because if you all of a sudden,
you're his guy. So my point is with Dak, I
feel as if he maybe they don't agree on the
exact dollar amount, and maybe Dak wants forty and they
want to pay him closer to forty. They'll meet it
like thirty four or something. But I think Dak is
his guy. He he's such a company man, Dak Prescott.
He just doesn't cause any issues even when they have,

(01:07:29):
even when Jerry Jones is causing the issues, he doesn't
have issues. He didn't say he didn't want to kneel,
which I'm sure goes over great in Texas. Uh So
I see Dak as that kind of guy with Jerry
Jones say I'm gonna throw him the bag now, I
might again, I might not throw you forty back and
meet you with thirty four to thirty five, and you
you wanted thirty more than thirty, I want to give
you thirty. We'll meet the middle there. Um. Yeah, I

(01:07:51):
mean it's a possibility. I just I'm just not sure
that there after this season, coming off this season, I
would feel as good about Dak as maybe the previous years.
Would you mean? Well, yeah, I give you me. But
numbers wise, Dak can say this is by far the
best numbers up with three touchdowns. The thing was eleven interceptions,
four thousand yards. Who do you put the numbers up against?

(01:08:12):
And now's the other problem against the better teams and
better defense. Heoc the best scrubs. Yes, all right, eight seven, seven,
three six nine, we'll take another car. Go to Matthew
here and so cow what's up Matthew? Matthew, you're on
the Dan Patrick Show. Good morning, gentlemen, how are you
doing great? First of all, I disagree with the gentleman

(01:08:35):
that I just told us about the Bradys switching with Dak.
Dak is going to stay as a child boy, and
I think Patriot's best fit will be to send Brady
to the Chargers, because Chargers have everything that is ready
to go. U with Philip is probably leaving San Diego. Um,

(01:08:56):
you mean LA. But go ahead as far as um,
as far as the way the Patriots will be treating
Brady leading. That is the key point for me because
I've always been a Patriots son. But I think they
should they should lead him out of town if they
if that's the case with with a lot of respect,

(01:09:18):
and I think that's what everybody, including the media, should do.
But way, Matthew, I hear all that. And Brady obviously,
when you win six championships, he's gonna have massive respect.
But here's the other part. A lot of great quarterbacks
finished their careers elsewhere. I'm glad you brought that up.
Joe Montana was four known the Super Bowl. They jettisoned
him out, Bret Farve, Peyton Manning, you could go back

(01:09:41):
to the old days and Joe Naman Joe name is
who finished with the Rams and the Baltimore um Cults
quarterback I was Johnny United has finished also in California,
you know what I mean. So so this is not
it happens. This is very common. So Tom Brady wouldn't
be unlike any anybody else. It's not It's not a
stain on your career. I agree with that. Hey, thank

(01:10:03):
you for the car there I think was Matthew Will
go to Kevin and Ohio, Kevin, what's up many? Good
morning morning? How you? I'm all right? You know, if
Tom Brady really wanted to prove to everybody he's he's
going to Detroit Lions to make no one all right? Now?
You got what you drinking in that coffee this morning?

(01:10:27):
Detroit man, Joel, if you don't get your uncle, I know,
Joe just text you did Joe was like, hey, uncle Joe,
come hey, uncle Keith, come on in, call in. That's unbelievable.
I'm not even so sure Joe didn't go record this,
But did you know what if he did win the
Super Bowl with the Lions? Consider this. Remember for people
who don't know, they know the lines are bad, but

(01:10:48):
they don't know how bad. Tell them how bad? One
playoff wins since nineteen fifty seven? Hello is this on?
That's since nineteen That's incredible. That's almost talent. Right to
be accidentally stumble into a win? Right you? You? You? Um?
What is that music city miracle away to a win?
Right you? Your? Some other team just gave your five

(01:11:10):
interceptions some random time and you won. You're too you're
too young. But if if you were, I was watching
that game, I wanted in Detroit yet nineteen ninety one
when they beat the Cowboys, and it was the Cowboys
of Troy yak Ben and and uh Emin and all
those guys. So that was a team that wound up
winning three out of four Super Bowls. But that day

(01:11:30):
when the Lions and they they blew them away, they
beat him big time. And John Madden was doing the game,
and I swear he said, and I'll still never forget
that day. He said, you're looking at the two teams
of the nineties, the Lions and the Cowboys. You'll be
hearing more from these two teams for the rest of
this decade. Cowboys went on to win three out of four.

(01:11:51):
The Lions never even made it, and they actually had
beaten that team before they got on their run. Think
about that. Hey, I'll take fifty fifty. You know, he
was half right. It was half right. He was half
right on that on that call there, Manning went down him.
From there, you talked about wasted years of Barry Sanders.
I mean, he had a couple of good years in
the mid to late Night like the nineties, five ninety six,
but Wayne Faughns was the coach and that was the

(01:12:12):
problem as well. Well, it got a lot worse after that. Yeah,
for sure too. All right, thank you for the cause again.
Eight seven seven nine six six three six nine. It
is the Dan Patrick Show, Rob Parker kelvin Washington and
for Dan and the Dan Ats. Rob Parker has one
k up live for myself. We are brought to you
by Mercedes AMG Driving Performance. And I want to get

(01:12:32):
to the other games. We spent a lot of time
on that. That game. That's one game and the other
one earlier is we can we can get to the
Seahawks at Eagles as well. We can get to that game.
What did it wear? Are you on that game? I mean,
on paper, you automatically think it's going to be the Seahawks,
even though the Eagles are hosting the game. Yes they

(01:12:53):
are right, but you say, Russell Wilson what they have
going and the Eagles a beat up in batter They're
doing it like a mass unit, so you would think
that it would be Seattle all over again. A lot
of people I've here, I'm hearing that people like the
Eagles in that game. I think I think it's their
defense because of their defense. And I will say this

(01:13:15):
is a credit to Carson Wentz because one of the
things that makes you a great quarterback. You said something
earlier about the eye test. Sometimes it isn't just the numbers, right,
It isn't just the wins. I'm sorry, the touchdoles and intercepts.
It's did you make a play when we needed it.
I don't even care if you were nine and seven,

(01:13:35):
but you made the right plays and got us to
the postseason. All Eli Manning, who might have had twenty
interceptions in that season, but you made the plays when
we needed it. You gave us a chance to win,
and we won, and we're able to advance in the playoffs.
Obviously we're talking about the Eli Manning win a super Bowl.
Carson Wentz kind of has that thing where you go, yeah,
it might have been a rough game so far, but
on this drive, I believe you can get it done.

(01:13:56):
Yeah we might have had a rough season so far,
but hey, we're in the postseason. This might be where
the run happens. He kind of has that something about
him that makes you go that Dak hasn't had so
far right and what people are looking for with Dak
and you're right, and you did see that with Carson
Wins when you look at how depleted they were. They
were using a former quarterback as the number one receiver.

(01:14:16):
They were down to number three exactly, and to win
those games. They won their last four to be able
to even win the division, and which looked like a
lost cause when you think about that. They started off
poorly and the Cowboys started three and ozero and four
and one. They looked like they were gonna run away
with it. And somehow, some way, and uh, you know,

(01:14:37):
Wins in a lifetime was able to stay healthy all
year for the first time. And this guy is a
big time quarterback. Eight seven, seven ninety nine on Fox.
We have more phone calls if you want to chime
in about that game or about Tom Brady and the
Patriots against the Titans. But as much as we were
talking about Carson Wentz has that, I think nobody really
embodies that since Tom Brady is no longer really Tom Brady,

(01:15:00):
uh than like Russell Wilson, another guy who's had a
bunch of injuries, New regimes, beast molds gone. I'm saying
when he left, I'm saying he left was still able
to have success. Whether it was Doug you know, Baldwin,
who we may never hear from again, but all of
a sudden he was became a household name because of
a Russell Wilson. So there is that Russell Wilson magic

(01:15:21):
as well. So if you make me pick, I'm gonna
go with the Seahawks. But I can see why people
feel like it's gonna be difficult to go in there
in Philly and win. But I just trust Russell Wilson
a bit more. I think he's able to find he
had the brother of May in the pedigree. It's hard
to look at that and not think even though they
were on the road, because they still had a better
season than the Eagles and not and not to mention too,

(01:15:45):
by the way, what's up with your boy? What is
up with your boy? Pete Carroll? What what is up
with him? In last minute decisions? Whether it's at sc
and saying fourth and one and yeah, true, give it
to Lindall White, But can I have Reggie Bush out
there just to see you for a second? Great thing
may make me think about a little bit you're running
the ball Marshawn Lanson the Super Bowl gets you down
into the like two yard line. He had over one

(01:16:06):
hundred yards in that Super Bowl. He had just that
was a fourteen yard run that got them at the
one and a half. And then you don't and then
you have a chance. You have enough time for two
running ploys, and the Patriots are kind of like, maybe
we should let him in. I don't know, did you remember.
That's what the announcer said, if I remember correct, I
don't remember if it was collins Worth or not. He said,
if you're the Patriots, you probably think and let him
score and you could get the ball back. You saw

(01:16:28):
some of them retreat back to kind of trying to say,
I'm not gonna like obviously give it to you, but
come on, come on in. And then you had to
sit there throw the intercept Pete here. My point is,
you get be smo right, you bring them back and
then and then all of a sudden you get down
to the one, and then you don't you don't know
how to use the play clock. Hello, then the playock,
you lose the time, you lose five yards, and then

(01:16:49):
all of a sudden, now you gotta pass it, and
you can't get any in zones. I'm just like, what
Pete Carroll. That's one thing about Pete Carroll. It's very
very questionable. All right, So we're doing the NFL Wild Card.
If you want to talk about that at Seattle, uh, Seattle,
you got the Eagles game. Well, you want to talk
about Tom Brady and Patriots. So we'll take your phone
calls here speak, Let's go to Boston. Let's go to

(01:17:11):
Boston with David. What's up David? Hey, gentleman, how are
you doing? Very good? Thanks for taking the call. I
really enjoy when you're sitting in I got a totally
contrarian view. Let's hear it. I love it. It's absolutely
not Tom Brady's last season in New England. I am

(01:17:31):
a Jets fy was, I am a Jets fan. I
bleed green, I am Green, I am New Yorker, I'm
in New York. I love him. But here's my contrarian view, right, Okay,
if I could do my best, my best Alan Iverson
AFC Championship twelve and four and we're going to the playoffs. Okay,

(01:17:51):
that's my best. Allen Iverson on the bas my contrarian view, Okay,
is that Bill Belichick is hitting the road man. It's
in a boat from here. And on the basis of
what the basis of this, yes, it's over for Brady. Secondly,
he wanted to have Garoppolo come in. Okay, they've got

(01:18:14):
but they traded him away for a second round pick.
And now what are you looking at if you would
asked a Patriot fan what was worse losing to the
Dolphins or watching Sam Francisco win that game? My point
of view, what guys, and look I'm liking when I'm
seeing from the Jets. But it's the Jets. It's just
like the Knicks, right. But I'm saying Tom Brady, he's

(01:18:34):
sticking around. He's the crafts guy. However, Bill Belichick, because
all you hear about is Brady, goat Brady, goat Brady,
goat Nobody's saying Belichick took a mediocre quarterback this year,
got them to twelve and four, and yeah they lost
that last game. But heck man, the first time in
a decade, David, I I hear you, and it would

(01:18:57):
it be? Would it be crazy? Bill Belichick when back
to the Giants where he won those two Super Bowls
as Bill Parcel's defensive coordinator. But I don't believe that.
I think Bill's staying and I think Brady's going. Thanks
for the call, David, Thanks you for the call. But
remember that that that viral. Ain't nobody got time for that.
I ain't know by Bill Belichick does not have time
to go to You just said the Giants have to

(01:19:18):
rebuild and bring up Daniel Jones, and it cause think
about it. Even if Tom Brady leaves, or even if
Sony Michelle, it doesn't matter. He's already created a culture.
He already has a report with the owner that he
can say, Look, this is what I need right, this
is the time we need to plug. This is what
we need to do. This is what I'm wanting, This
is what I want to try things. Guys already know
what is the first thing? Due? I don't. I don't

(01:19:38):
care who you are. You're getting shipped to New England
or you're signing as a free agent. You know, all right,
I gotta I gotta shape up, I gotta get back
to gotta get back together, to get it together right,
because there's a culture there, and I think there's they've
created that. Why go somewhere else where. It's gonna take
me two three years to create a culture and do
and then he'll be, you know, seventies. And and he's
already said he doesn't really want to coach into his seventies.
I mean, and we'll see me. We'll see when that

(01:20:00):
big money keeps coming in. Hey, we'll take more of
your phone calls. So you want to stick and stay.
It is the Dan Patrick Show. That's right, Calvin Washington,
Rod Parker, Fox Sports Radio. Thanks for listening to The

(01:20:20):

(01:20:48):
in for the Dan Aces Calvin Washington with my man
Rob Parker. I mean, you got a little hot sauce
on the Dan Patrick Show. The little bit a little bit,
just a little little sprinkle of it. It's uh, Frank's
hot too, right, catch red hot. We put that beep
on everything. Yeah, well we do. I can't deny that.
We will. We will put we will put hot sauce
on hot sauce my goodness, eight seven seven ninety nine

(01:21:11):
on Foxes our phone number if you want to chime in.
Eight seven seven nine nine six sixty three sixty nine.
That's uh, that's the number. And people been calling in
what so far? What was the craziest thing we had that? Uh,
Tom Brady is going to uh the Cowboys, right but
all the reports say the Chargers. So we're talking about
the wild card games, also about the Eagles Seahawks. Who

(01:21:32):
do you like in that game? So you can chime
in right now, we'd love to hear from you. I'm
gonna run through the schedule here. Okay, so tomorrow first game,
you have his Bills at Texans Bills. Gotta give him
some credit. People like the Bills and that they have
a you know, I think wise because they have that
formula where, yes, we have a young quarterback who is
not the most proven, but if you have a solid defense,

(01:21:54):
solid able to run the ball a bit, and by
running he is including that because job I was gonna say,
Josh runs the ball and you can take you know,
time out the clock and you don't hurt yourself. That's
the type of team think about. We were talking about
Tom Brady all day. Tom Brady those first few Super Bowls.
He wasn't the goat. He was just Hey, that guy's
pretty good, not great. He just manages the team. We
got this great defense, we got great special teams. We

(01:22:16):
were able to, you know, able to find ways to
win that first Super Bowl. Yeah, Tom Brady threw only
one touchdown in the entire postseason. Yep. And so but
think and then another guy we talked about, Russell Wilson.
Same thing falls into a great situation with the legion
of boom. Got Marshawn Lanche Hall of Fame esque running back.
All he has to do is not turn the ball over.
I got another one for you. This is all modern

(01:22:38):
Ben Roethlisberger, that first couple in runs, especially the first
one against Seattle. I got the bus, I got fast
Willie Parker, I got all these guys that got covered
Super Bowl. That was the one in the Detroit. Yep,
he didn't get in the end zone. Didn't you remember
that the jobbed They jobbed the Seattle and that one.
That's right, all right, let's get to your phone call
st it. Throw the number out there again. For you

(01:22:59):
eight seven, seven, nine, six, six, three, six and nine.
Let's go to Patrick in North Cacilaki, North Carolina. What's
going on? Patrick, Hapy, New Year? Happy New Year to
you both. Hey, Rob, how are you doing this morning
man talk? I'm usually talking to you at night, and
you know what, I'll be on the odd couple tonight
as well, seven to ten pm Eastern. Patrick, appreciate, You're welcome.

(01:23:19):
You welcome. Listen. I got two points to make it
real quick this morning. In regards to the Philadelphia Eagles
and Seattle game. I think Seattle's gonna go in there,
and I think Seattle's gonna going there and they're gonna
roll over Philadelphia. Now, I like Philadelphia. I like Carson Wentz,
There's no doubt about that, right. But Seattle. They are
seven to one on the road this year, which is
amazing in the NFL, absolutely amazing. And Russell Wilson is

(01:23:43):
just you know, he's a premier quarterback. He's been into
situations like this before. This is the first time Carson
Wentz has played any playoffs in NFL. And the running
game they got and the passing they have, I just
think that there's just no chance for Philadelphia to get out,
get to get out of philadelph You with the wind Patrick,
those are all strong points. I mean, how can we

(01:24:04):
argue with Well? I will argue with the running game, though,
I mean, who's the running back in Seattle? I don't know?
Is it me or you? They might call us Lynch.
He's still up there. Didn't even get carried another day.
They're about to call up what was what was my man?
Who has set the record? Uh, you know that's a
matter of fact of super Sean Alexander are they're gonna
bring in guarantee you Sean Alexander stood by his phone.

(01:24:24):
He was like, all they call an old Seahawk running backs. Baby,
they're gonna call me. The only problem is that you
can't bring your walkers to carry on on the plane.
So that though he couldn't make it, do you know, Gavin?
And there's a thing called we TV. We don't know
what you're talking about, right, I'm sorry, I have no
idea and me and me and he comes back, cozy TV,

(01:24:45):
Cozy kozi, cozy kidding me? When you have something? I
just saw you some Nestle Quick chocolate milk and alert Yeah,
and some slippers, life alert. Hopefully God will bless you
and you'll get here as well. Again, I don't mind
that you're old. It's the fact that you just sold
me when you're not old. During the commercial break, and
as soon as we come back, you put glasses and
tell about Cozy TV. All right, Chris and California. What's up? Chris?

(01:25:09):
First of all, good morning, gentlemen, Good morning, Happy New Year,
Happy New Year, Happy New Year. When it comes to
Tom Brady, tom Brady is not leaving the Patriots. Okay,
the Patriots are Tom Brady. He will never go um.
He's the leader of the AFC East. He has six
wings to prove it. And Bill, Bill Belichick and Tom

(01:25:30):
Brady they go together. They're like peanut butter and jelly.
Tom Brady goes Belichick's going. Well, they've been more like
oil and water. Chris, I don't know what you've been watching.
The relationship has gone cold and distant, and there is
a problem because Tom Brady feels like he's been used
and they never gave him, they never paid him, you
know what I mean. And all the talk is always

(01:25:50):
about Belichick system. So there's those two don't get along.
I think they get along for winning purposes, but I
don't know if they get along, you know, at some
point done, You've done the relationship. That's like, I'm only
here because it's working. There's an ego thing going on
and everybody wants to get full credit. Gavin, I didn't
want you to hang up on him because he sounded

(01:26:10):
like Danny McBride, didn't he he's founding Like I was
totally like, oh wow, he using alias Chris, but really
that's Danny McBride. Like I totally want to say Danny
stopped playing? How we know that's you? All right to
go to John in South Carolina? John, you want to
talk about the Eagles. Welcome to Dan Patrick Show. Thanks guys,
and good morning to y'all. Good morning TV, get TV,

(01:26:33):
great TV. I know about all of that, John, Thank you?
You know about Cozy No? I love it? Thank you?
They got all the good shows. How old are you?
Hold is relative? How old are you? Thirty eight? See
my man, Calvin, John, I'm hanging up. What do you

(01:26:53):
mean you know about I don't even know where to
find it. Cozy TV. It's one man. You gotta like old.
You gotta like those those shows like that. But uh no,
but but yeah, man, um, the thing that makes me
mad with Philadelphia is we wouldn't be in this shape.
They missed out on getting players, um, getting getting receivers

(01:27:18):
when they could have got them via free agency. U get,
you know, when when it was time to get him
because I never trusted getting to Sean Jackson and bringing
him back. I think he was hurt to begin with, right,
I really think he was hurt when he came back.
But um, you know, they had opportunities to get guys

(01:27:38):
and they never pull a trigger. And you know, just
think if they've got those guys with the way Carson
Wentz is playing, now, you know, it wouldn't be any question. Man.
We almost did last year. Uh ashaw Jeffrey missed that pass.
If you gott you know, remember against the Saints. You know,
Eagles could have been back in the Super Bowl. You know.

(01:27:58):
But um, you know I mentioned that. I think thanks John.
Appreciate Jackon allegedly thirty eight. I think he was eighty three.
Appreciate the call. John to his point, I think the
Eagles came into situations saying we'll have out Sean Jeffrey,
We'll have to Sean Jackson. We got Art's a tight end,
so I think they were like, we don't necessarily need

(01:28:19):
more because we have it. I think that was the mindset,
was that we already got her a real number one
in Jeffrey. We got de Sean Jackson, who has been
a number one, but obviously he's not what he used
to be, but he's this quality receiver. We got a
running we got a tight end, so I thought. I
think they came into the game plan thinking will be
fine offensively with also Carson Wentz who should be healthy.

(01:28:39):
So I think that's why they weren't going after receivers
so much. So all right, again it is Rob Parker,
Calvin Washington, and we are in for Dan Patrick and
the Dan Netts coming up. We have, of course more
to get into these wild card games. We didn't really
get too much the other two games, so we'll do
that as well, and also talk about the NBA All
Star voting is out. Who are the leaders? Will tell

(01:29:00):
you next Fox Sports Radio. Be sure to catch live
editions of The Odd Couple with Chris Brussard and Rob
Parker weekdays at seven pm Eastern four pm Pacific on
Fox Sports Radio and the iHeartRadio app. It's NFL playoffs season.

Download the Dan Patrick Show app and the iTunes store
or Google Play. So we've closed the book on the
twenty tents. Goodbye. A new decade is upon us, twenty twenty,

(01:30:11):
and there's no better time for self reflection to decide
how we can become better, more well rounded human beings.
But for Dan it's an impossible task. I mean, what
do you improve upon perfection? Certainly not his silky smooth jumper,
oh oh jumper, nor his incredible interviewing skills. Dan Patrick

(01:30:33):
doesn't perfect. I guess he could be a little better
about acknowledging how wonderful he truly is. I got a
Marconi over there for the radio host for the year,
and I got some emmies around here, but I don't
want to talk about me. But ultimately twenty twenty will
again be the year of the Dan Patrick Show, broadcasting
from the Mercedes Man Case. How many days can you

(01:30:53):
say Happy New Year's or is it the end of
the week and then we're done? This is the Dan
Patrick Show. I don't know how long you can said,
but I'm gonna say a Happy New Year to you.

can get the cash back and then move more cash
to match it. Discover cashback match. We're waiting? What are
you waiting for? You can learn more discover dot com
slash match. Just discovered dot com slash match. We've been
talking about the wild card for a while now we're
gonna get right back to that in just a little bit,

(01:31:37):
But do want to get your thoughts Rob on the
passing of David Starn at the age of seventy seven.
We know that he had a brain hemorrhage a few
weeks ago and ultimately was his demise again a couple
of days ago. Now, just getting your thoughts on him
and his legacy and what he was able to do
and really take the NBA to the heights where they

(01:31:57):
are now. Yeah, you know I started covering I told
you this earlier. I started covering the NBA in nineteen
eighty seven. I was a sportswriter for the Daily News
in New York and I covered the New Jersey Nets
and then the Knicks. So I was around the NBA
a lot. I would covered a lot of big games,
playoff game. One thing that David Stern did do when
he first took over was we used to be up

(01:32:17):
in the rafters the way that we are now the media,
But back then Stern brought all the writers from up
top down the court side so that we could take
in the game. We'll be able to write about it,
We'll be able to hear the players talking about it.
Do you know what I mean? It was? It really was,
a matter of fact, I sat courtside from Michael Jordan's
famous shot against Craigie Low in Cleveland. I was sitting

(01:32:39):
right there at half court, right on the court, heard everything,
so everything. I still remember that to this day. So
Stern did a lot of things in his thirty years
as commissioner, and obviously the NBA was in a bad
place back in the late seventies. The championship game was
on tape delay on CBS, which nobody can't even imagine now,

(01:33:00):
that cannot imagine crying Lebron right that, you know, right,
not live. It would be like your local sports cast
and would go hey tonight after the late local news.
You know, if you don't want to, if you're gonna
watch the game, turn your head. I'll put up the
score of the game, and they would put up the
score and tell you who won. You could never conceive

(01:33:20):
that now, but that's where the league was. There was
a lot of drug issues or whatever. So all that
stuff being said, Stern hit a lot of home runs.
He had a couple of misses as well. And I
wonder when you think about it, like, uh, Donald Sterling,
all of his laundry was out there and what he
was doing, and I was renting the black and Hispanic

(01:33:41):
people in Los Angeles and you know a lot of
bad stuff. They kind of never came after Sterling. Uh,
look at David Stern at the time. Obviously times have
changed to Kobe Bryant rape trial. They let the Lakers
fly him back and forth. He wasn't suspended. He got
to play throughout the whole thing. That wouldn't fly now, right,

(01:34:01):
that's something well, I'll say this that wouldn't fly now.
I do think that he did not come. He was
not the commissioner during an era of social media for
the most of his career, maybe obviously the last two years.
But aware you see this in the NFL A lot
they kind of licked their finger waving in there and say,
where's the wind blowing? What are people saying on social media?

(01:34:22):
What is the response that's going to ultimately dictate how
we respond. We're gonna give um, you know, what's his day?
Ray not Ray Lewis, but Ray Ray Rice. We're gonna
get Ray Rice four games. I can believe me do
whatever whatever. Six games. You know, the the NFL doesn't
a lot. So I said that to say David Stern

(01:34:44):
even with the Kobe Bryant. Had it been now with
me too moving and people more aware, when more sensitive things,
maybe he would have been all right, you know, I
gotta suspend this guy. So I do think it was
a different era. And then and then the other one.
I just want to make two other points, you know,
the dress code and the hip hop era or that
that's probably his biggest and he realized that he made
a mistake in that because and people say, well, what's

(01:35:06):
wrong with asking people to wear suits or whatever? But
it was kind of vilified, like how we dressed him,
how comfortable we were, Like it was something wrong with that,
Like we were all thugs. If you wore your pants
a little loose, or if you wore a drawback Josie
or gold chain, yeah, like it was a bad thing.
What did you see it? Like that? What I think
he missed was what you're doing commissioner to a league

(01:35:29):
that at the time maybe seventy black is perpetuating the
stereotype that they already deal with outside of the count
Finds NBA stadium. They're already you know, portrayed or filled
as oh well that guy has on baggy jeans and
a thug. So now I have to deal with that
in my own workforce, in my own place where you
actually know me, You actually know you know me so
literally to have shaken your hand, called you and talk

(01:35:51):
and what does it matter what I have on? You
know what kind of person I am or whatever. It's
just a comfortable dress. So I think he missed that.
And they don't also uniform, real quick, rop uniform is
what's on the court, right you get what I mean? Like,
it is not like I was wearing a do rag
and it's on the court and I'm drinking into a
sports arena. Right, that's it now Again, Yes, looking back,

(01:36:12):
some of the outfits were extreme, but I mean you
look at Kyle Kuzma, Russell westburn More. People are wearing
exactly where they're coming out with. It's extreme and now,
but that's celebrated because it's like, Wow, they're expressing themselves.
They got different. Kyle Kuzma has a slim, shady blond
hair and it's cool and it's accepted now, so I
think he wants that bad. And then you also get
the CP three, right, Yeah, well that one and for
people in LA they never forgave David Stern for that. Never.

(01:36:35):
And the other one he did, which also was strange,
he changed the change the basketball without talking to the players.
Do you remember that? And Nash Duncan and all those
people would complain and remember they were cutting their hands
on the ball. So he did back up and and
and change the ball mid season because all the players
that could perspect bad that he was able to not

(01:36:56):
just force it and say, well you have to deal
with it. By the way, how do they cut hands
you play basketball? I don't know that that. They just
said sand paper, but they didn't like the ball. But
he did a lot of different things, a lot of
good things. Like I said, there was some swings and missus,
what's your thought of David Stern? Like, what would be
your lasting thought of him? Was? I think globals is

(01:37:18):
at globalization. I think for him to say, you just
mentioned it coming out of the league where guys were
on drugs and you know, I work with spectrum here
in LA and uh, you know, big game. James on
there for the Lakers, and he mentioned that he said, look,
when I came in the league, dude, they're you know,
drugs was an issue. Guys weren't you know, taking the
league seriously. And David Stern came in an interesting point

(01:37:40):
with James Worthy said he saved guys lives because of
the drug rule, because guys had to get clean, Guys
had to get off drugs, Guys had to better their
lives in order to continue to make a livelihood for themselves.
And I thought that was interesting. Um, and then again
the globalization understanding. Yo, this is Michael Jordan kid. He
might not have rings yet, but we're gonna we're gonna

(01:38:02):
we're gonna highlight him just as much we're doing magic
and bird Oh no, this you know this this uh
Shaquille O'Neil guy, he is fun. We're gonna let him
be fun. We're gonna let him have fun. We're gonna
let him said, We're gonna let him do movies. We're
gonna let it and just making the game bigger. You
know what the rest of the world is putting pros
in the Olympics, We're putting pros in them. What did
you think of where he would fit in like today,

(01:38:22):
because you know, people said that Adam Silver's way too
player friendly and the players like I don't know if
David Stern would be cool with the load management. We
already saw that when Popovich did it one year. I
remember it was a big Miami he was Spurs game
and Popovitch sent home uh Duncan, Genobley Parker, and Danny

(01:38:43):
Green early and didn't They didn't play in that game,
and Stern found him the next day two hundred and
fifty thousand dollars and was pissed because it was a
big national game. So I don't know if the load management,
like Adam Silver, let it get out of hand and
now he had to reel him back in a little bit.
I think I wonder how Stoud would deal with players now.
He definitely governed much tougher than Adam Silver. I think

(01:39:06):
Adam Silver is enjoying that he is considered the most
h progressive commissioner in all of sports. He's embracing exactly
trying to be always be ahead of the curve, one
step ahead of the other leagues, being innovative. So I
think he is enjoying that right, And I think he
walked right and he got an alley oop. He got
an alley oop in Live City. What I mean is

(01:39:28):
he walked right in to the Donald Sterling situation. He
did what the players and most with deem as right
by relieving him of his ownership of the team and
blah blah blah blah. So he walked right in. They're
looking like, hey, okay, doing a cabbage patch thing, and
they like me. They look at me. The players love me,
they respect me, they think I'm doing the right thing.
So he kind of walked right into a good situation
to be deemed as he know, a guy who was

(01:39:50):
about playing player friendly and about what we what we
need and what's best for us. Then all of a
sudden he had, you know, does some other things. And
then you mentioned the gambling and so forth. Being on that,
I think his only man, it's Adam Silver so far,
or depending on your your point of view, is the
whole China situation that we had that was a swing
in the men. Yeah, so that would be his. And
by the way, you're going to do that, you and

(01:40:10):
I do a three hour show today. You're gonna we're
gonna get something in correct. We're gonna say he had
thirty touchdowns it was twenty five. Like you're going to
you know, make a mistake, uh in your job and
you and you dude, you do three shows in a day,
You're gonna say something that might offend someone at some point,
you know, as you how many seven jobs today? Something
like that, something like you know, I'm from Jamaica, queen
from Jamaican took that to heart. You took it to heart,

(01:40:32):
Jamaica queens. But also again, I just think Adam Silver
is trying to do the balance. I think he sat
next to David Stern and said, all right, here are
the great things, and here are the things that I
would have done differently, or the players are telling me
they wish he would have done differently. I'm going to
implement that, right, I'm gonna pull it from him. It's
like what you want to do with your parents, right,
pull it from the best thing from your parents. And
then there's some ways that they didn't you know, they

(01:40:53):
you remember like stuff that they did. You like, I'm
a parent, I'm not going to do that to my kids.
By the way, half of them, You're gonna do already, right,
I have a three on the one year, and I
find myself saying the stupid things that my mom and
say to you. I would never like, well, why not
because of set so right? That was in now I
say it. That's what my mom used to always say.
I remember that too, like because because I said so,

(01:41:13):
because I'm the mother. Because I'm the mother, I'm like, okay,
trust me, brother, I say half of that stuff that
I swore. I would never say. Oh, I can't stand
when you leave a light on in my house, but
I know that guy I am. You leave a light
and the TV on for no reason? Why what are
you doing? Turn that off? All right? I lose my mind.
It's your dad. My mom's saying was the electric company

(01:41:36):
in New York was conn Edison. It's your dad conn Edison.
I would hear that all the time, and it shout
out to your mom because I'm doing the same thing
around here for sure. But the other thing we wanted
to get into is the NBA All Star Building want
to get into that as well. So you're your leaders,
which is interesting because they might be the two best
players in the NBA. And this is coming from you
know me. We're little opposites on the Lebron home. Yeah,

(01:42:00):
Lebron home all in with Lebron h and you not
so much. But Luca Don and of course the honest
the Greek freak into Dakoumpo. Those are your leading vote getters.
Um Dontez leads out to Chokoupo by five hundred ninety
nine votes, which is obviously you know nothing because fans
are gonna get more into it. But you want to
dive a little deeper than this, and we may carry

(01:42:21):
this on the next side. On the other side, fans
account for fifty percent of the vote to determine the
ten starts for the twenty twenty season, which is, by
the way, the game is gonna be on February sixteen.
I am going and since Chicago this year, fifty percent
of the vote. Where are you on that? Is that
too much? Is that just right? Should be a hundred
percent because it's just an exhibition game. It should be
for the for the fans. I know some people don't

(01:42:43):
like that the fans vote. The first returns from the
fan voting you had. Here's where people say, this is
why the fans shouldn't vote. Alex Caruso from the Lakers
is number eight, and you talk about guards. Also Taco
Fall in Boston six in the front car. So you say, what,
how are these guys on the list? And how are

(01:43:05):
the fans? You know, always just a person. It's just
a popularity contest. I'm all for the fans. The fans,
it's their game. Don't take it away from the fans.
Let them see who they want to see. It's just
an exhibition and it ain't a real game. And here's
the other problem. When they gave players the right to
vote for this. You remember, after a couple of years,

(01:43:25):
finally they said, well, we'll let the players vote. The
first year they allow players to vote, Kelvin Watch. Here's
the big one. Three hundred and twenty four players voted.
One hundred and twenty eight did not vote for Lebron James,
one hundred and fifty four did not vote for Kevin Durant.
It's a conflict of venturess. Everybody has agendas. I don't

(01:43:46):
like him, I don't like his Kim. I'm not voting
for Lebron. Do you see what I'm saying. Yeah, So
that's why I'm not big on it should be fans
vote for the starters, coaches and GM's vote for the reserves,
and this way guys who might not be celebrity or
big names, but who deserve it exactly like Spencer did.
He did win. He's a great player for the nets.

(01:44:08):
He's number ten in the guard, so he would make
it as as a reserve that picked by the coaches
and GMS like I don't. I don't because I think
it's a fans game. Fans are the ones loving it.
And look, you're always gonna get you just mentioned a
Taco falls in there. You're gonna get a nice cruiser
because they're a fan favorites and it's fun, but they're
not gonna actually make the team. Um. The only person

(01:44:30):
who you could say maybe made a team that you
and he was still a quality player. He's in the
Hall of Fame now, but you could argue that too.
But it was like a yaoming because of the you know,
the country of China, right, and voted and I remember, right,
and so you had so many people voting for him
that he got it and you were like, whoa, whoa.
I mean that you know he's a good, really good player,
but I don't know if he's an All Star this year,

(01:44:50):
and he would or he would lead the league and votes,
and you'd be like, wait a minute, He's definitely not
leading the league in votes. So but other than that,
usually it pans out and we get it right. So
the fans usually get it right. Do you think And
we're gonna talk to hopefully you'll chime in on this.
Who do you think should vote for the All Star Game?
Should it be the players who actually played the game

(01:45:12):
or on the court, should it be the fans? Should
have been the coaches and the g and the GMS
or combination, because right now it's a combination. It's fifty
percent fans, twenty five percent players, and twenty five percent
coaches and GMS. I say the fans get to vote
for the starting lineups and then let the GMS. The
players should stay out of me. Yes, go back to

(01:45:33):
where the way it used to be. Players aren't engaged.
When you when one hundred and twenty eight could really
leave Lebron James, and you know, I'm not the craziest
Lebron James fan, but I respect his talent. When you
tell me one hundred and twenty eight left him off
the ballot, that's something deep, right, It ain't got nothing
to do with playing facts. And I remember I used
to do the show of Marcellais Marcella's Wiley, and he

(01:45:55):
would tell me how many times And then you hear
this with when they do the NFL one hundred players
Top one hundred that did you just go some of them?
You know, Philip, I gotta go like you don't actually
put thought. You're just kinda like, uh yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah,
and I'm out of here, like did they throw it
to you at the end of the game. You're ready
to go out, you're ready hit the club, you're ready
to go home to your family or go to dinner,
and you just kind of not taking it seriously. Yeah,

(01:46:16):
And so you know, the players, the players aren't all
that much better than the fans for sure. All Right,
we'll come back if you want to hop in on
this eight seven seven. We're taking your phone calls eight
seven seven nine six three six nine eight seven seven
nine nine six six three six nine. And also again
we have the wild card games to get into. There's
a couple of games we haven't talked about as much.
We will do that. It's Rob Parker, Kelvin Washington and

(01:46:38):
for Dan Patrick and the Dan nets So Dan Patrick

(01:47:21):
AMG Driving Performance. And we were talking about with the
NBA A real quick I want to put a button
on that All Star conversation. Luca don Chi and Janis
are leading the way, respect in the respective conferences. Are
those are two best players in the league? Uh? I
don't have a problem with that, yep. I mean a
lot of people love the way Lebron's playing and Anthony

(01:47:44):
Davis and then you always have up James Harden. There's
a number of great players. But I guess the thing is,
and it's weird, is considering how well the Lakers and
the Clippers are both doing in LA, a big market,
but the ratings are really down and it's because of
Kevin Durant's heard Kawi Leonard, I mean, Kyrie's heard Steph Curry,

(01:48:07):
and the Warriors are banged up, you know, like it's
it's a mixed bad facts. I think I think you
needed the Warriors to be in the league. I think
we kind of like everybody thought this, Oh, anybody could
win it, and yeah, you know, maybe the Dinner Nuggets
have a chance, and maybe you know the you know,
you obviously have the Clippers in the Laker, maybe the
Rockets have a chance. But you need that enemy. And

(01:48:31):
the Warriors were the team that we all loved. Then
they became a team a lot of people hated, right,
but you knew you could rely on them being there
and being around. And that was a big blow to
the NBA was having them be injured because you lost
that that the Yankees, you know, you lost lost those
Patriots where you're gonna hate them or're gonna love them,
but you're gonna watch what you're gonna watch becauld you

(01:48:52):
want to see them get beat or you want right
or you want to see them win. You need that
Duke to be good that you know, or Kentucky. And
I think the Warriors being injured and being out of
it and becoming irrelevant really hurt. So I think that
hurt the league probably more than anything, is the loss
of just a big, star studded team and that you mentioned.
If you still have the Warriors with Clay Steph Draymond

(01:49:12):
and Indiangelo Russell, Okay, that team looks really good. And
now I have Kyrie and Kevin Duran over there Brook exactly,
that's another entire team that I'd want to see. I
want to watch and that maybe it could be contenders
and East contenders and win something. They're hurt, So I
definitely think though the injuries will be the thing that
I would say more than just people are just disinterested
in the NBA. I would say it's been the injuries

(01:49:34):
taking away and it turns into a well, I'll just
catch up with it in the postseason. It's kind of
turned into that. So what will be on to get
back to the NFL with the other games that we
didn't talk about because we talked about Saturday's games, right, Yes,
what about Sundays? We have more games what we could.
We kind of we kind of split the difference a
little bit. We have some more games to get into.

(01:49:55):
What about let's get to Minnesota at New Orleans. That's
gonna be one oh five Eastern times Sunday, so that's
ten am uh Pacific. Yes, And you know that's an
interesting game. That is because Kirk Cousins from a couple
of you know, seasons back, and Kirk Cousins can't doesn't
seem to be able to win the big games or
the games that matter the most, or the games that

(01:50:17):
are in primetime. We know at least eight or something, yeah,
and nine on Monday night. Who do you like in
that game? And then you got the Saints, who we're
even rolling even when Drew Brees missed those games you
remember with Teddy Bridgewater. So they're a really good team. Um,

(01:50:37):
I don't know. People are picking the people are picking
the vikings for an upset. They a lot of people
are picking the vikings. I think the ability to run,
have defense, and like you said, Kirk Cousin goes to
a conversation we've had earlier, if you can just not
hurt us, right, if you could just not hurt us
and to his credit for the most parties not hurt them,
and he's had and he's played better the second half
of the season, even though they lost that last two games. Agreed,

(01:50:58):
But I look at the Saints team right now, I
mean Drew Brees, the percentage in which he is completing
passes is unheard of. Uh, it's remarkable. And then you
talk about Michael Thomas and the ability for them to
have right yeah, man, and probably the most maybe like
one of the understated there's always that receiver that's so
good that we never talked about that. Andre Johnson's of

(01:51:18):
the world, if you you know. Uh, And Michael Thompson
is that he's having an amazing run as well. This team, man,
the Saints. The last few years they keep I mean shoot,
even last year they had a chance to get back
to the you know, back to the super Bowl for
for Drew. This team is really really talented. This team
is really good, and I think they're rolling right now
in the ability to run the ball um you know

(01:51:40):
as well. Now they can of course, if they become
reliance on Drew Brees, maybe if you're the Vikings, you
can find a way to shut that down. So they're
gonna have It's gonna be important for the Saints to
continue to find a way to run the ball so
that they're versatile. Um, but I'm would I would roll
with the Saints and they're at home, and I don't
know if I can trust Kirk Cousins going into New
Orleans that's the big bull game and winning. I don't

(01:52:01):
even think that he necessarily has to have a bad game,
but I don't know if I can trust him to win.
And Sean Payton, I feel like he's on a mission
as well, you know, to get back and win, try
to win another Super Bowl. Yeah, and the windows closing,
this pressure on Drew Brees right as he gets older.
You don't know if this is this the last year
that they're good enough with Drew Brees. So so you
want to take advantage of it. Of a team that

(01:52:23):
was pretty good, you got a home playoff game. Yeah,
I'm mixed on that. I'm not that big of a
Kirk Cousins fan, and I've seen him, even though he's
played better in the second half. Like I said, I
would just go with the home team here. But I'm
surprised at how many people are picking the Vikings I'm
not surprised though, because again I think that they've had.

(01:52:44):
First of all, they've been, you know, for the most part,
pretty good the last few years, a really good defense.
And again, if they're able to run the ball and
New Orleans defensively is that they're not great defensively, and
they never really have been. That's always been their Achille
Hills kind of like Peyton ending in the Colts all
those years they were really good, but their defense couldn't
stop anybody. And you could argue the same thing with
Patrick Mahomes in Kansas City. That's that's the bug a

(01:53:07):
boo there. It's like you don't know how bad the
defense will wind up being. You know, Patrick could have
a great game or put up enough points to whatever
you think enough to win and that defense could cough
it up at the end. And then that's been Andy
Reid's story, right, they just can't win the big game
as well. So the Chiefs are out there the one

(01:53:27):
team I will say, all right, so that's the other
And also real quick with the Saints too, they played
they played the good quote unquote good teams uh very well.
To remember that they had a great game against the
forty nine ers. They lost it, but they were right
there had a chance to win in And so they've
played well against great they've beaten the bad teams, and
they played well against good and great teams as well.

(01:53:49):
That I liked seeing that it's versus we talked about
the Dallas Cowboys only beating up on the bad team, right,
They also rans that never was exactly so um, I
would rote with the Saints and that when I do
actually to be a close win, a close competitive game,
and not to mention, I think again you're talking about
that that that passed from case Keenum to Diggings and
he was able to run that against the Saints. Was

(01:54:10):
that two years ago? Now? That then? Amazing miracle there
they had. I was, I was at a sports bar
in LA and watching it and there was one Saints
fan there had on the jersey or whatever, and he's
jumping around as the game is coming to an end
and the seated devastation when the Vikings pull it out

(01:54:31):
on the last play. That dude was crushed, Like, you know,
don't you don't celebrate till the game is over, though,
I mean that is like the as a fan, you
got to be crazy to be celebrating because you just
we've seen this happen over and over and over, like
you know that's old saying. I know it's cliche. Is
not over till the Fat Ladies sings? And it's so true.

(01:54:52):
And that guy was jumping around like celebrating, and then
for that last second touchdown for the Vikings, he was
sitting there, hands in head, totally devastating and not believe
that Saints dB makes that goes in for any type
of fundamental tackle that you're taught people, he makes that
tackle or at least slows him down enough that maybe

(01:55:12):
someone else can get there. But he just goes in
and tries to lay the wood and actually misses him.
And then he Stefan Diggs was able to run when
you didn't need wood, you just needed to take us
make the tackle. All right. The other game is gonna
be Saturday when you get to is the Buffalo Bills
at the Houston Texans talked earlier Adam Kaplan and uh,
we're talking about the fact that J. J. Watt is
trying to play now obviously not going to be near

(01:55:34):
one hundred percent at all. This was the four to
six months injury. Um. But Deshaun Watson really almost as
talented as they come when it comes to the quarterback position. Uh,
you got DeAndre Hopkins and you know you have some
some some talent there. With the Texans, you can say
they really underachieved over the last few seasons because people
have expected more out of them, especially when they had
Jadeveon Clowney going with JJ Watt and the defense was

(01:55:56):
looking solid as well. Um, who do you like right now?
The Buffalo Bills who've surprised people with Josh Allen and
able to be successful the last couple of seasons out there,
ten and six this year. Uh, they're able to use
him in the way that Look, you don't expect him
to throw for three hundred and fifty four hundred yards,
but if he's able to kind of give you one
hundred and eighty two hundred yards and able to run
for sixty yards and your defense you know plays, well,

(01:56:19):
you're in this thing. Yeah, that's that's a that's a
tough game. People like Buffalo I don't know. I want
to I want to pick them, I want to I
do Where are you on this one? Well, I'm going
with the Shan Watson. I'm going with the Texans in
this one. But they've been they've been disappointing. Like you,

(01:56:42):
you think they're gonna make that run, absolutely right, and
it has over the last few years when they have
gotten in the playoffs and then they don't win like
they they have underachieved, for sure, especially when they've had
a pretty good mixture of an offense and a defense
over the last couple of seasons. But I think right now,
I just contry. I think to Sean Watson is too talented,

(01:57:06):
is too good and has that thing that we talk
about that really separates quarterbacks. It's look, if we have
injuries and we don't have the players that we hope
to have and the wide receiver and tight end positions,
and even the backs, if we don't have this, if
this guy goes out, can you find a way to win? Right?
That's really what separates uh these quarterbacks is that Tom Brady,

(01:57:26):
no matter who was there, was able to do it.
Paidon man. Ain't going to the Broncos, Ark, fine, the Colts, whatever,
I'm gonna be it done. Russell Wilson, who's here, who's not,
I'm gonna be able to get it done. And that's
to me what we were talking about earlier with Carson Wentz.
We've been able to do that this season despite all
the injury. They're they're fine, They're going out to to
home deep on finding receivers, and yet they're finding a

(01:57:48):
way to win. I think de Shaun Watson has been
able to do that. Offensive line has been terrible. Let
me shoo. Their offensive line has been terrible since David
Carr for some reason. Now I know he's not playing
this weekend because they have a buy and I'm talking
about Aaron Rodger the Green Bay Packers. I do want
to bring this up. I think he has the least
amount of pressure ever going into the playoffs from this damnpoint.

(01:58:08):
Not that he's not not that he's not getting older,
and you know time is ticking. And maybe he had
a Pro Bowl season, but some people didn't think he
played as great as he has played in the past.
So I'll give you that. But this is the most
balanced Packer team I've ever seen. Aaron Jones. It can
can rush for a hundred and some yards, he gets
in the ends, only had nineteen touchdowns. They have a

(01:58:30):
defense that makes plays takeaways. So it's not about Aaron
Rodgers having to score forty points to win a playoff game,
which is the only way they used to be able
to win. Do you agree with that? I get that
he didn't look great against the Lions. Uh, I tweeted that.
I feel like he was just playing with them, you know,
because at the end, right, and then at the end,
I'm gonna ahead and devour this mouse. I feel like

(01:58:52):
he was that big cat. He was big Garfield or something.
You know, he was just sitting there just that cheshire
cat grade, like yep, just like, let me play around
with the Lions, all right. Let me go ahead and
make some plays like I always do against the Lions.
But you're right having a run. I mean, they've had
really back since I'm on Green. But I mean that's why,
right when you can look at them and go, hey,

(01:59:13):
you know, it's not just Aaron Rodgers, it's other people.
But I question, I question there are they Are they
tough enough to go up against some of the teams,
like let's say it is the Vikings that beat the
same time to play them at some point? You know,
are they tough enough to go up against a team
like that? Are they tough enough against the goal know
what their record was against teams over five hundred this year,
but was it eight and one? So the answer is yes,

(01:59:37):
I think that they are because they beat good teams
to get that. You know, you could beat thirteen and
three and then you look at the record, go, well,
they really didn't beat anybody. Always a cupcake schedule. They
swept the NFC North, right, they did, and they were
eight and one against against the teams over five hundred,
and they had a couple of big road wins too,

(01:59:59):
So they when you look at their thirteen wins and
their resume, it is pretty strong, even though some of
the games were ugly, and I think that's why people
are I'm ready to just say, oh, the Packers are
the team to be in the NFC because they struggled
and they and they look bad sometimes, yet they still want.
But I stepped on by the Niners that they and
the charges that they came out to California had two

(02:00:20):
stinkers when they were like never in the game, right,
both of those games the Niners. But see the Niners,
the Seahawks teams that are a little more gonna be
a little more physical, like I said, even though they
beat the Vikings. But in a playoff setting, I could
see the Vikings giving them a little trouble. I mean
it's it's it's uh even the Saints, that's gonna be.
That would be a great that'd be a great game too.

(02:00:40):
But I just I wonder if but two, I will
say this, in order to win a championship, oftentimes you
have to win ugly games. Uh, you have to. It
is not the road to the super Bowl is not
always easy. It's not always going to be you're blowing
everyone out. And so to their credit, they're able to win.
As you just mentioned, what is an eight one against
teams with winning records, They're able to win those time
of games and finally, having a running game may allow

(02:01:02):
them to win in multitude of ways, whether it's a
shootout or hopefully you know, they're able to maybe grind
it out, like hey, I keep referencing the most recent
win against the Lines where they were down most of
the game until game win the game they were down
or tied. Um, but you just mentioned Jones is running
all over them, and they're able to have Aaron Rodgers

(02:01:24):
just do what he needs to do to win the game.
And here's the big here's a big stat of the
whole season. Prior to this season, the Packers were four
and ten when Aaron Rodgers did not throw a touchdown
in the game four and ten. This year three and oh,
they won all three games in which he did not

(02:01:45):
throw a touchdown. To me, that's scary. That tells you
that it ain't always all about And the other part
in his back pocket is what if he busts out
in the playoffs and puts together two great games as
QB with the defense with game and then he and
at home? Right and at home? What do you mean

(02:02:07):
he gets too many pass He went two MVPs and
a Super Bowl? Stop it? He is no Brady? Whoa Yeah,
you're right. He hasn't cheated in his career. What do
you do? No Brady? He's no Brady. As far as this,
almost everything Rob says and put insert Brady's name instead
of Aaron Rodgers, man, don't do it because he flip

(02:02:30):
flops the names. It's like everything that I went for
Aaron Rodgers is not good for Brady. You do give
him a little more excuses than you give us a
Lebron where it's the same narrative that you know, this
guy is super talented, but yet he hasn't shown up
at big moments. Aaron Rodgers hasn't dragged a team to
the you know, super Bowl that he you know, we
always would say, man, he didn't have anybody, whereas other

(02:02:52):
people we say Tom Brady dragged a team with nobody. Well,
you got that. What's going on? Is it simply the
surveillance though the Patriots fil people well as that. And
then when you talk about all people are with technology,
I'm just telling you, hey, I got a luminum foil
on my TV. Is that what's going on? But you know,
I say Lebron is the fufote, the finals failure of

(02:03:13):
all time. He's got more finals losses than any other
former MVP. And before everybody runs out and goes, what
about Jerry, Jerry Ress won an eight in the finals.
Jerry was never won an MVP, a league MVP. So
listen to what I'm saying, full fold finals failure of

(02:03:33):
all time. I'm just I want to go back to
the California trip that the Packers seemed to struggle with. Yeah,
they had two bad trips. You know, he's the number
one seed the Niners. They're in California. Yeah, so the
Packers are gonna have to go back there and they're
gonna have to win if the forty nine is making
I just hope a game at this point because all

(02:03:57):
stats and trends are showing you the Packers are going
to get demolished in San Francisco. Oh I'm not I'm
not there yet. I know they had a stinker during
the regular season, but Gavin, I'm not demolish. Demolish is
a bit much. Well, both times they were in California
they got That wasn't what like September, October, November, November,
I mean that was I mean that was Hey, that

(02:04:19):
was some time ago. B This is this is the
entire when you get to the put the division on
the line. They went to Minnesota and they shut down
the Vikings. Right, they didn't have Dalvin Cook, I'll give
you that, but they shut down I think Kirk Cousins
had one hundred and thirty four yards in that game
and they won that game. Yeah. But but my point
is in a game that mattered, Minnesota could have taken,

(02:04:39):
you know, tied to lead for the division, which is huge,
and green Bay could have become a wild card. Team. So, Gavin,
you're telling me you trust Jimmy g No, and I'm
actually not the biggest you know, on Jimmy g. I
I don't think well, when you're sporting porn stars in public,
I think you gotta wonder about team. I'm just Sackers
are extremely lucky they got home field, I really do,

(02:05:01):
because they didn't won against teams over five hundred. Is lucky.
And I looked at their schedule that the over five
hundred teams were the Raiders and it wasn't anyone fantastic.
What are you talking about? They beat the Bears twice,
who were in the playoffs twice. No, but I'm just
so to Gavin's point, you did it. It's not like
they beat you know, they'd beat the Chiefs. They went

(02:05:23):
to Dallas and they won in Dallas. Th Rob, you're
changing the goal line. Yeah one minute that the Cowboys
don't beat anybody good and they're not a great team.
Now you're using that for your what is your affinity?
Is it that you saw the Packers beat up on
the line so much when you were in Detroit and
you just ended up loving them. Well, because now you're
making me like, all right, what is going on here, Rob,
because now all of a sudden you're changing the goal line.

(02:05:45):
Because the Dallas Cowboys were not a good it's a
great team, and now you're telling you, look, they beat
the Cowboys. I'm just saying at the point when they
beat them, the Cowboys hadn't fallen like that yet. That
was the basic cowas football, right. If you're if you're
the second seed in the NFC, you should be eight
and one against no that's the that's the best record
in the NFL. Everybody's not eight and one against teams

(02:06:07):
over five. That's the best record. I agree. And actually
one stat I saw today the Bills have only beaten
one that one team over five six yea Titans. So
that's why I look at the eight and one. That
does count for something. What I would take the key
the key component to me when it comes to the
Packers is their ability to finally be able to pass

(02:06:27):
and run and have a legit running game. Remember they
had Montgomery. They had a ride receiver as a running back.
You know it's bad when not in a case of emergency,
they had this situation. They had to run him out
for like in half of a season. So all right,
we'll come back. Final predictions for wild Card weekend and
if you want to hop in and last minute calls,
will take those eight seven, seven nine, nine, six three
six nine. Rob Parker, Kelvin Washington, hanging out with you

Thank you for hanging us over almost three hours now,
appreciate it. Hopefully you're having a wonderful Friday getting ready
for the weekend. Rob, real quick, let's you know, let's
take this phone card. Shout out to Dennis. I'm hoping
he's doll here. He's been on hold for like forty
six minutes. Dennis, are you there? Yes, you must be
a truck driver. What else can you be doing? No good?

(02:07:33):
We appreciate you holding on man close to Thank you
for taking Michael and I'm a big fan of a
DP show and the odd couple. Thank you so much, Tennis,
thank you, thank you Rob Well. If I can share
my dake on the thumb Brady situation, I believe the
the Belichick Brady fandom has already proven nothing to prove anymore.

(02:07:59):
They have then they're they're not just a team, but
but really an institution now. So uh, it's okay to
have changed happening, to have changes happening. And what I
see right now is Tom Brady probably will be a
good choice to move to the Oakland Raiders. And that

(02:08:21):
is because they're moving to Vegas. Another team, another team
has a new building that wants to bring a buzz
to it. Okay, I'm not. It will be a fresh
start for for for the Raiders team and they will
draw a huge crowd with just the presence of Tom
Brady there. I think you know that forty six minutes

(02:08:41):
was well worth it. Thank you, thank you appreciate this
um well. And another thing we do know John Gruden
A he likes veteran quarterbacks, right, He's more of a
veteran quarterback guy. Give me a rich Ganning, uh so
I can have some success type of a guy. And
rich Gannon was able to have say Success League MVP

(02:09:02):
got to a Super Bowl. Obviously they lost and then
they got drums. Wow. That team, that team is one
of the top two three greatest defensive teams of all
They scored more to more points than offense. Crazy. They
didn't just interceptible and they read it in. Yeah. I
covered that Super Bowl. I was there. That was my favorite.
One of my favorite teams was that Buccaneer team and

(02:09:22):
that defense was insane. All right, we gotta go over
the games you want to, like I want you to.
I just want to switch it up for you, Okay,
because you you're you're you're you're pump faking man when
I'm asking you to give me your what you're thinking here?
So I'm not gonna ask you your prediction, okay, Just
I'm gonna ask you to give me the game or
two that you're most interested in. How about that? All right?

(02:09:45):
So your options are Tennessee at New England, that's gonna
be Saturday, which you keep going? Keep going, Minnesota at
New Orleans, keep Goeattle at Philadelphia? And what was my
last choice? What am I missing? There's one other game.
It is one other guy I missed the that say Buffalo, Houston, Buffalo,
Uster Houston. Well, I do want to see if this

(02:10:07):
is it for Tom Brady. So out of all those games,
I do want to see begin me too. Okay, so
I want to see that game. And then I do
want to see Seattle in Philadelphia. Now that the Minnesota,
all right, I'm gonna scrap that. I'm gonna go with
Minnesota and New Orleans only because it's a rematch, yes,
and a lot of people are picking the vikings. I

(02:10:28):
don't know what I'm not seeing. I think the Saints
are gonna win, but I keep there's something back here
that's saying, is it's really gonna happen that the Saints
are gonna lose? Well, I think it's because, you know,
the Saints have that Aaron Rodgers thing with the Packers
where it's good if they've been they had some seasons
where they've had some really you know, some success and
really good seasons. They don't have much to show for
right son Peyton and Drew Brees together were like, wow,

(02:10:51):
that goes together peanut butter and jelly. But they haven't
satisfied like a peanut butter and jelly has. They haven't
won that Super Bowl except for the one. They haven't
gone regularly and even gone back and lost right where
it's like, you know, so I'm I think that's why
people are saying they like the Vikings. Not to mention
the Vikings have been playing well, so it's not as
if there's some bum team that barely made it in.

(02:11:11):
The Vikings have played well. They're solid team. Kirk Cousins
has been playing very well second half of the season.
Type of player um and again to have a defense,
and we always know that defense travels, So I think
that's why it's not as if people are you know,
the thought of the Vikings winning is not far fetched.
But this and when you go to the Tennessee Titans

(02:11:32):
of the Patriot, that's another team in the Titans who
play very, very very well as of late. They got Tannehill.
I don't know who the heck he thinks he is.
And it's almost become an indictment on minute of the
Miami Is this what you could have gotten out of Tannehill?
And as is Ryan Tannehill actually a really good questions
good he has played well, so that'll be interesting. Is

(02:11:54):
he gonna regret to the means like is he gonna
go back, all right? Uh, so, enjoyed your wild card weekend.
We got about a minute here. I need to know quickly.
Were you the only black person on the entire continent
of Antartica? No, I was not. First of all, it
was an unbelievable trip, like if you can get there,
we can. You gotta get there. Yes, you can, and

(02:12:14):
you know, are you ready for this? On the cruise
that I took in Utica twenty one, there were seventy
three people, twenty four Americans and you're ready. Twenty four Americans,
eleven people of color out of the twenty four, eleven
I love one. I made that you went. You went
a little broader because I said black people, you specifically

(02:12:37):
would have color. You know why I want to say
that because it was nine black and two Hispanics and
it's eleven were there were eight of them with you
and you were the other one. No, not at all.
I didn't know each other. I didn't know each other.
I was n'tbeliving. I'm not gonna lie. I'm impressed. It
was a great trip and change model as cold as
we think. No, it wasn't the summertime, so it was
about thirty two degrees. That's a weak Troy. That's nothing there.

(02:13:02):
