(01:04):
day we have all been waiting for. And no, not
a funky flash back Friday, although I'm excited about that
as well. I am excited that my partner, all around
funny man according to himself, is doing his debut performance
(01:30):
as a comedian right here on The Odd Couple. In
the second hour of the show five o'clock Pacific, eight
o'clock Eastern, Rob Parker will debut his stand up comic routine.
I'm excited. Let me introduce the man of the hour himself,
(01:54):
Rob Parker. What's up, man? Are you ready? I'm ready.
I'm excited as well because you know this that if
I wasn't and I'm having a little technical difficulties, hold
on it. Okay, if I if I wasn't doing this
job and I wasn't a sports writer, a slowdown, this
is what I would be doing. I'd be like writing
(02:15):
for a sitcom. I'm not saying i'd be a comedian, Okay.
I think i'd be Eddie Murphy. I'd be Eddie Murphy around.
Oh no, I'm gonna be Eddie Murphy tonight without that
red leather suit that he wore and delirious. All right,
that was hot. Yeah, yeah, I remember that like it
was yesterday. But no, I've always had people to say, well,
(02:38):
you're funny, you always you know, getting the singers in there,
throwing the jokes in. It ain't as easy as people
think it is. But I take a look at you guys,
the staff. So you guys were in the mixuples. It's
not just random jokes. I mean you're talking like you
knocked them dead. I haven't heard it, so I don't know.
(03:01):
Maybe you did well. I've talked to people who who
you know. I've seen the jokes and know what's going
on and if the feedback, the feedback from them is good,
so I feel good. I felt good after I did it,
and the feedback has been good. We wanted to keep
it away from you and from everybody. So yep, you're
listening at eight o'clock. Eight o'clock specific ally tuned in
(03:25):
around that time. We'll be ready, we'll talk about it,
and you'll be able to call in and give your
take on it. Be kind, I want him to be honest.
It's all good. It's not a trash talking Tuesday, all right.
Just remember trash Rob Friday and what it will be. Well,
we will see, all right. We got a celebrity corner
coming up at the bottom of this hour in about
(03:47):
twenty five minutes, so stay tuned for that one. That's
a special guest. It's gonna be a lot of fun.
He is a comedian. Rob that's a hint. He is
a comedian, so you get to pick his brain. But
let's introduce the I Couple crew. We got DJ Alex
teishert aka Alex a Vegan aka the Big A on
the ones and the twos. Always fun to have him
(04:10):
here on a funky flashback Friday. We'll see what he
comes up with out of his crates. We got super
producer Rob Ge running things, and on the updates our man,
the always professional Steve dis Seger. With all that said, Rob,
let's get to the NBA, which in Major League Baseball
(04:30):
started last night. And what a debut. I was gonna say.
The ratings went through the roof. Not that I'm surprised, Chris.
People wanted to watch the ball game, and uh, four
million viewers and that's a lot of people that couldn't
go to it. I mean, I know it's only seventy
fifty thousand whatever, but still, yeah, I mean big, big numbers,
(04:51):
best since twenty eleven? Is that what it was? Did
I read that twenty eleven? So so that that says
a lot. And you know, we got to see I
watched both games. Obviously, the Yes and Nationals was rayned
short and got into the sixth inning. And I watched
the entire Dodgers Giants game. So there it is. We
will offer you both of our picks looked really good,
(05:12):
the Dodgers and the Yankee, so a lot of fun
and it's just gonna keep going because this is again
a sprint this year. But the NBA is starting next week, Rob,
next Thursday. And uh, look, I was on Colin Cowherd
showed the Herd today and he said something that first
blew me away and secondly that I had to check
(05:35):
him on. He said that if Kawhi Leonard leads the
Clippers to the championship, which you and I both picked
him to do, that Kawhi Leonard will be a top
five player of all time. Yes, he said, it would
(05:56):
be Geordan not in disorder, but Jordans magic, Kareem who
was his uh who was his other guy in the
top four? Four? But Lebron, Yes, Jordan's magic, Lebron, Kareem
and Kawhi. Now come on that. Look, I like Kawhi,
(06:17):
Like I said, I picked him to do this historic thing.
And when three NBA Finals, MVPs and three NBA titles
with different teams, but top five, there is no way,
no how that he would be in the top five yet.
Now could he begin in climbing, possibly, but no way,
(06:37):
He's in the top five. So that led me. If
you disagree, feel free to say so. Rob but that
led me to this question. I think it would. It
would put him in rarefied air. What you just said,
he did something no one had done, right. I don't
know if that would automatically put you in the top
five when you look at the entire history of the game.
So you're he's saying it's a possibility. I'm just no, no no, no,
(06:59):
I'm just saying, I don't know if it puts you
there at five, you know what I mean, in the
top five, but it elevates you to a legendary status. Uh.
If he's able to do that, especially Chris, it's not
just winning three games, I mean three championships, and um,
with three different franchises. You would have won back to
(07:20):
back on two franchises that couldn't rub two Nickels together
in their existence, and and somehow some way you won
championships with them. I just think it would give you
legendary status. I don't know if I could sit here
and Joe He's in the top five after that that quickly,
I'm just surprised. You're not You're even you You are
leaving the door open for it. No, I'm not leaking
(07:42):
top five, but I'm okay, so you're saying what I'm saying, no,
but I'm saying but legendary status, Yeah, I would. It
would be hard for you to deny that. He's when
you talk about the history, you don't always saying you
talk about the history of the NBA A guy won
three championship with three different teams and elevated the Clip
and the and the Raptors to champions back to back years.
(08:04):
That's hard to That's hard to argument. He would be
what I think he would would end up happening with
Kawhi if he does this, and again we picked him
to do it. Is he's he's in that top twenty
ish range of all time and he's climbing. He's only
what twenty eight years old. I know he's got the
seems like a degenerative need, but you know, I think
(08:25):
he's still got several years left in him. And I
think now the watch would be on to see how
high he could climb. I think that's what it would be.
He would be the other thing, too, where where I
think Colin could make a real case. Chris, and I'm
just throwing this out right. He prevents Lebron from winning
(08:46):
a championship in la and and and the Clippers win
two or two out of three or do you see
what I'm saying? Like like like then you would look
at him in the future. Yeah, he's got That's what
I say. Begins it. But but just this, no, no, no,
I'm saying. But if if Lebron's four years come and go,
Chris he didn't wish or something like that, Yeah, yeah,
(09:11):
I'm I look like I said it would, then the
watch would be on one. Okay, how high is this
guy gonna climb? Now? I told Colin that I just
at this point, if you want to say Kawhi Leonard
is better right now than Lebron, that's a legitimate argument.
And obviously he's better both on both sides of the
floor at this point, so right, and that's a big
(09:33):
difference in age and yeah, miles on the tires exactly.
But historically, if Kawhi wins this championship, he would have
matched Lebron right three he will be three and old.
But I would still not say he's better historically three
and one Chris, he lost one, that's right. Let me
(09:54):
he's TWM one, three and one. But I told Colin
to me, honestly, it would take Kauai winning about six
or seven for me to say he's better than Lebron
just because I just watching him. I mean Kauhi. But
if he if he keeps, if they if they won
(10:15):
three in a row, if they won the Clippers won
three in a row with Kauha, that would be five, right,
and it would be four in a row, Chris, it
would be four in a row at five and one,
that would be huge. Okay, then maybe you start yeah,
I mean, but so so yeah, if he's maybe, I mean,
I'm just saying about five. And I don't think he's
better than Lebron, right, but I'm just saying to being
(10:38):
a Lebron opposite Lebron, spurned Lebron. Do you see what
I'm saying, and then playing in the same building as
Lebron and taking over LA I think he would have Yeah,
I mean he and he's getting Look he's just starting
the dish like this is the first year average. I
believe over four assists. He's at five. So his game
(10:58):
isn't see what I'm saying, He's still to go. Yeah,
how you do it means a lot, So yeah, I'll
give you that. Here's the other thing. Though, right, and
and mainly my point was, you know, after this year,
because Colin was just over the top this year. But
here's what I say, Robin. You know, we talked about
(11:19):
this all the time. You nitpick when you're talking about
the all time greats. And yes, he would technically, he
would be the first guy to win three finals MVPs,
leading with three symmetis. But here's the thing. He wasn't
the best player on that team in San Antonio that one.
It his first year. He was the finals MVP. But
obviously that he played well, but there were a lot
(11:41):
of guys, you know, it was it could have went
to a number of guys. He deserved it as much
as anybody, but there were other guys you could have
given it to, and nobody would have made a fuss
if you were only average twelve points that year. So
he wasn't like you know what I mean. It was
still Duncan Genoblian Parker, even though they were older. It
was still there team, not Kawhi's team. So I think
(12:03):
you'd say that, and then I don't put in the asterisk,
I don't take it away. But you know, like I said,
when we're looking at rings, just like we look at
Durants and we say, okay, they're they're two rings, but
you know they were a great team already. We look
at Lebron's and say his Cleveland ring was better than
those two in Miami. So you would say, all right,
(12:23):
the first one he didn't, he wasn't the team leader.
The second one was great because you're right, Toronto hadn't
even been to the finals. But without you know, Kevin
Durant and Clay Thompson, certainly, I think with Durant and
Thompson they would have won it. With I think with
Clay that's that's arguable, obviously, but I think those are
(12:46):
the things. So I'm just saying, I'm just saying for
top five, Rob, that's all I'm saying. I'm not saying,
you know, we take away, but I can't put him
in the top five after this championship if they win it, No,
I got it. That's that's all. That's a hard leap
to make. Yeah, top five, but I think then it's like, okay,
let's see what this guy keeps doing and keeps climbing, right, Yeah,
(13:07):
this year will say something if they win that that
that will be definitely a feather in his cap because
the Clippers just of the organization Chris in the history.
It would be even even if people say, well that
had him and Paul George, Yeah, I get it, but
still that automatic Yeah, everybody one guy, I mean Jordan
even had Pippin and that's about the equivalent of Paul George.
(13:29):
Pepper's probably maybe probably at this point, certainly better than
Paul George was. So uh yeah, it's it's legit. Let's
throw it out to the listeners. Eight seven, seven ninety
nine on Fox eight seven seven nine sixty three sixty nine.
What would win in this year's championship due for the
(13:50):

(14:55):
want to know what in the world would this do
for Kawhi Leonards legacy if he wins the championship this season,
not only hindering Lebron from doing so, but taking the
hardware himself for his third ring. Your turn away in
Let's get to it all right. First ups Corey in
(15:20):
North Carolina. You're on the odd couple of Fox Sports Radio.
What's up, Corey? Man, I feel like it regular. I
feel like Marcus Sacramento. Now, yeah, I know, what's the
sec How did you get It's just it's funny because
a lot of people can't get through, really, man, I
don't know. Man, I just got through twice. But look, man,
I think I think Kauai is born. I'm not a
(15:42):
fan of his I think if Tim Duncan was a
wing player, he'd be Kauais. But I think Kawhi Leonard
is a top ten all time talent right now. He's
one of the best the players all time. And if
you remember, he became a great scorer when he started
working out with Kobe in the all seasons. I don't
know if y'all remember that, but hey, christ already with
(16:05):
even without the second don't hang up on him. Okay, yeah,
without the credentials. Maybe think away the credential. I think
he's a top ten talent. One one think Chris Man,
I'm a preacher. I appreciate you using your uh, your
man your platform the way you have man, thank you
for that. And Rob apreciate you. Man. You just don't
know it. I don't know it. Yeah, but don't throw
(16:25):
the don't throw the holy water on me. I'm wait
till you stand up. You might not say that. Oh
I'm just glad it's on national radio. It can't be
too raunchy. You already no, look worried, Chris says, I
know your favorite. You gotta I gotta do this show
by myself. Oh my god, that's right, all right, guy
(16:49):
in uh Palmdale, California. You're on THEYD couple of Fox
Sports Radio. What's up? God, Hey, Chris up, thanks for
taking my call. Brothers. Yes, yes, I can't put I
cannot put Kawhi Leonard ahead of Kobe. Come on, you
know what. Let the guy have a career and to
put him up with Lebron. Come on, man, Lebron, take
(17:13):
and put him to school. Okay, Lebron is awesome. Way
he's ahead of Kobe duncan shallow, No, no, I'm not
saying that. I think, but guy, if he wins again
with the Clippers, who had never wanted one last year
with Toronto, you'd have to start looking at it at
him a little differently, wouldn't you. Yes, sir, you got
(17:36):
that correct. But you know what, you gotta look at
the arrasors. Okay, you know Will Chamberlain. You know he
was a played with the golf Riders. That guy was
like built like Lebron with a couple inches Tyler, you
like half a foot a lot stronger, could lead play volleyball.
The man was awesome and I haven't program right, we'll
(18:04):
just need to win more. And he needed to stay
out of bed, right he would be all right, right,
maybe that's why I didn't win more. That's right, I
barry him Minnesota. You're on the eye couple of Fox
Sports Radio. What's up, Barry? Hey, what's up? Guys? Love
the show. How's it going on? Thank you good? Thank
you buddy? Hey? Hey, you ready for my stand up Barry?
Are you ready? Oh? I can't wait, man, I've been
(18:26):
waiting for since you guys started talking about it. Man,
I trust me. Lower him. Do yourself a favor in
lower him a right? All right, I'm just playing. Go ahead,
what's your what's your point? All right? So I'm with
you guys. If if Kawai could get a third finals
(18:47):
MVP this year, if he does that, which he won't
because Lebron the Lakers are gonna win. If he did that,
I'm with you guys, that he would be like it
would be a legendary status and it would be top
twenty five, top twenty ish if you were to pull
that off this year. But col hurt is tripping, and
he's tripping hard. If he thinks top five all time,
that that's the moment the guy hasn't The guy hasn't
(19:10):
won a regular season right, and he may never do it.
Be honest, with the with the low management, he may
never win an MVP. Here's the other thing. Let we
gotta keep this in mind. Now, he's clearly their best player,
but it is not out of the realm of possibility.
I mean, it's very much within the realm of possibility
(19:33):
that Paul George could be Finals MVP, right, I mean, Paul,
I'm not saying he's as good as Kauhi, but he
could have a better short. You know, he's good enough
where you know, but if he pays no doubt about it,
well yeah, I mean we'll see. You know, Igua Dollar
(19:56):
robbed my man game rob him? No, rob, I was
highway round it. That was all those sports Wide has
nailed that one. That was ridiculous. They pulled down the
curtain behind pay no attention to that man behind the curtain,
and they were talking about twenty seven points. That's right.
It is in New York. You're on the odd couple
(20:18):
of Fox Sports Radio. What's up, hey, guys, great show
as always. I do think if Kawhi, I do think
if Kawhi does win another NBA Finals MVP this season.
He is in the top five all times at that position.
Let me no, no, no, no, no, and at four
reposition period period. So he has yeah, period period. Yes,
(20:40):
he has two Defensive Player of the Year awards. This
would be the third Finals MVP that he had and
Chris that twenty fourteen NBA Finals when he was the
primary defender on Lebron, Lebron shot twenty percent from the field, right,
I don't care that Lebron average twenty eight, eight and four.
When Kawhi was guarding him, he only shots twenty percent.
That's true. Not only that, but Kawhi averaged eighteen on
(21:02):
sixty percent shooting in that series. So I mean he
plays both ends of the court and the consistently and
the best player of all time. Three years ago, Michael
Jordan said when he was asked who's the best player
in the NBA, and he said, well, I think Kawhi
is the best two way player. How many more ways
are there to play? There's just offense and defense. I
(21:23):
hear everything you're saying, and that's legitimate. But you would
put him ahead of Tim Duncan shack Kobe. Not yet, man,
I'll get there, but it's gone. He's gone. Yeah. The
thing and here's the other thing too. You ready, Chris
about Tim Duncan. Yep. If Kawhi hasn't missed that free throw,
(21:46):
tim Duncan is six and over the final. Possibly. I mean,
you know, who knows what happens? You know what I'm saying? Yeah? Yeah, right,
that's how close he is, Chris, Yes, right. Maybe Kauhi
knew that some people would say he's gonna pass Duncan,
so he didn't want to give Duncan six. Let's go
to work, Yeah, might we gotta, we gotta get to
the Yeah, we got one more, one more, one more? Yea.
(22:08):
Bobby in California, you're on the odd couple of Fox
Sports Radio. What's up, Bobby? What's up? Guys? Thanks? I
think there's no way that he can get in, and
especially the top five, and even if you go by position,
if you put him in as the three you're talking
about Japan, Lebron, Kadie and Bird two with Jordan and Kobe,
then he could get in that third group. Yeah. I
(22:30):
don't put him a hand on anybody, Bobby. I agree
if he even if he wins this year. But Bobby,
let me just ask real quick, if he wins three
in a row with the Clippers. Then you got the
fourth in a row from Toronto and five overall on
the record of five and one, and then he would
have stopped Lebron from winning in La. Well you can't,
I mean, Rob, that's a lot. If duncan leaves Brooklyn
(22:55):
to the next two rings, then here's you know what
I mean, but a right, I'm just look if he wins,
if this is the first of three, Oh yeah, no,
that's why I said. I'm saying. Now we I think
if this year, Rob, he's put us all on notice.
Now I'm in all time great, I'm you know, in
that top twenty ish. And the question now is how
(23:18):
high I climb? And I think that's fair. And if
he did what you said, then he's climbing awfully high,
you know so, because at some point you just gotta
respect winning, right you might hear his game might not
be as pretty as Kobe's, but if he keeps winning,
you know what I'm saying, and he's obviously effective, you
(23:38):
can't poo poo winning. H That's right, That's right, all right.
We got a great celebrity corner coming up next, but
first be sure to catch live editions of the Odd
Couple with Chris Brussar then Rob Parker weekdays at seven
pm Eastern four pm Pacific on Fox Sports Radio and
the iHeart Radio app. This is the I Couple. I'm Chris,
(23:59):
He's We're coming to you live from the Geico Fox
Sports Radio studios. It's easy to say fifteen percent of
more on your car insurance with Geico. Go to Geico
dot com or call eight hundred nine four seven Auto.
The only hard part is figuring out which way is easier.
He is on one of the funniest morning shows in
(24:21):
the world. He is a comedian. He's the co host
of the Steve Harvey Morning Show. Kre Spates, better known
as Junior Julian Couple brother. Yeah, Man, we've had a
man hold off. Hey, everybody tune it, Rob Parkers, Tell
Joe and stopping out. Tell everybody a junior Julia Rob Parking.
(24:53):
Everybody tune it. They not leaders. I'm Chris R. How
y'all doing man? We are. It's great to have you on,
man and I look, it's late, obviously he's done it.
But is there any advice Rob wants to do? Stand
up to? What advice would you give him? Junior? I know, hey, Rob,
(25:13):
start telling it's great. He's showing it. I'm telling everybody.
I want everybody tune in. I worry back to that. Man.
Let's tell you something, man, I love the show. I
love the show. First of all. I love the show. Man.
Tell something, man, I see you guys. Man, you guys
are so cool. Just in passing it's cool, but shows
(25:37):
you right down the hall. But where where did Rob
get the idea that he wanted to do Chris? That's
what I've been wondering. That's what I want, Junior. You know,
if I wasn't a sports guys orts writer broadcast, I'm
telling you, I would be like a sitcom writer. I've
always felt like I know what's funny. I love comedy.
(26:01):
I love great lines on shows. I've studied it for years.
Well can I help you with something, Rob? Can I
just help you one thing? You are a sports guy.
Just be the spoorts guy no I got. After this,
I might have to just go back to no. I
(26:22):
love you for just being a sports guy. I love
your takee. It'd be wild sometimes, but I love your taps.
I love it. I love you for being a sports guy.
I never saw you as just being a comedian. I
didn't see this, and why are you doing it in COVID?
What are you doing? Well? I mean we we're doing
(26:42):
it because I did. Because he's going on another vacation
next week. Yeah, so this might be a good time
to get out of town, or at least that they
don't want to be anymore. They would tell me what So, Junior,
you mentioned Ribs takes? What take? Do you agree with
him on? Nothing? He has the audacity to say it.
(27:06):
I love it for that. Phonebody has to be the
person who makes these takes. I love it for that.
But Hardy, oh my gosh, where did you get? Can
I give it? Tell you? I'm gonna tell you all right.
So I was in junior I was in high school
junior year, and I'm in American history mister Cuton's class,
(27:30):
and I swear to you this is what happened. And
so the mister Cuton uh was talking about Patrick Henry.
And you know what, Patrick Henry's famous line is give
me liberty, or give me or give me that. So
there was a sportscaster in New York who was huge.
His name was Warner wolf and Warner Wolfe's name was
(27:51):
Warner Wolf's famous line was give me a break. So
mister cuton and class goes, you know, Patrick Henry said
give me by and he paused, and I jumped in
and I said, or give me a break, and the
whole class started laughing or whatever. And I was like, oh,
that was funny. That was good delivering everything. And Rob, Rob,
(28:13):
you have not seen them people in thirty years. I think, Junior, Junior,
you sound like you already heard the bit. No, no, no, Chris,
I ain't heard the bit. I just know Rob. Don't
need to do this. I heard I'm coming on and
like whatever. My advice, Robin is, you are what respected
(28:39):
sports analysts. Don't do this. Rob, you got a great reputation.
Don't go where you don't need to go. You do this.
You don't have to prove that you're on a radio show.
You got a radio show. Don't know what, Junior, Sometimes
you gotta step out there. It's not the end of
the world. I'm like, giving up my career gonna be
the end of the world, right, I think it's I
(29:01):
think it's gonna be funny. I think it's gonna Let
me ask you, because you are obviously as comedian. What
is it like being up there or maybe what was
it like when you first started, Like do you still
get butterflies? Is it you're nervous? Like what's it like? Yeah? Man? Yeah, man,
I mean it's just like any other athlete. It's like
it's like a performance, man, it is. You get nervous,
(29:24):
You get very nervous. I guess I still get very nervous.
I've been doing this twenty one years October thirtieth, and
you get nervous, man. But you know what, the energy
from the people, it's what drives you to perform. I've
been doing this a very long time. I've seen cats,
man that die of horrible death. But man, I'm gonna
(29:46):
tell you there's no there's no class for this. There's
no nothing. Either you have it or you don't. That's it.
There's no in between. And then I have Steve Harvey
as a mentor. Let me say something. I was on
tour with Steve Harvey, man, and this is a crazy
thing in the world I was. I was on tour
with Steve Harvey on his last finale tour, right right,
(30:11):
Steve Harvey has everything you would want in the dressing
room because I didn't know what you were supposed to
having dressing room. They would just get me chicken wings
and a fruit plate. That was it. That's all I got.
Steve Harvey comes down to my dressing room, man and
tell me how much he believes in me. And he's
talking to me and I have nothing to offer him.
(30:32):
So while he's talking, I say, hey, hold on, because
I'm from the South, I want to be hospitable. I said, hey,
would you like from chicken wings? Now he got staked,
shrimped everything his dressing room, and this man said, I'm good,
but he really wanted to talk to me about in
successful Like that was the whole conversation. He came down
(30:54):
out of his dressing room to talk to a young
guy who's trying to get to where he's at about
being successful, and all I had for him was chicken wings.
So while he's talking, I'm chilling these flats. You know,
I love the flies to fly to the back. I'm
a flat guy. And he's talking about my entire career. Man,
(31:15):
And that just shows you how big of a man
Steve Harvey is. Man. He came down to my dressing
room when he had everything Coca cola built him a
tower of Coca Cola's. He has about Sunday and fifty
coats built in a tower for him in his dress room,
and that he down here trying to figure out whether
(31:37):
he wants flats or drums or Man I mean, man,
I mean, and we worked together. Man, I see you guys. Man,
I'd be laughing with you, guy, but man to be
on to odd couple and y'all talking about Rob is
going to tell Joe. I went to guy, I have
not laughed his hard in a long time to coach, Well,
(32:02):
give us a sports take. What you are? You were?
You an athlete? Who's your You don't what's your favorite sport?
You were an athlete, all right, so tell us about
your career where you you're a good athlete? I was,
I was. I was an athlete. Man, I played football.
I was a running back. Uh got scholarship to the
University of Missouri. Roller toward my acl man, and then
(32:25):
I had to find something else to do. So that
when you determined that you wanted to be a comedian,
like what when you realize you were funny? When I
was fourteen, I knew this I was gonna be doing
fourteen even though I loved the game of football, man,
I mean, I love the game of football. Football is
(32:46):
the only game where you more than basketball, where you
have to get everybody on the same page to score.
It's a very difficult thing to get eleven people to
agree on a play to score. It's a very it's
a very it's a very entrance of teams sportsmanship. See,
people don't that don't never play football at a level
(33:07):
they understand what it takes to get an offense into
an end zone. I love the game of football. I
know the play calls. I know we're making these decisions.
I know why we're making the calls where we're making
I know why this receiver is better than this cornerback.
I understand why the cornerback has been a receiver. I
understand offensive and I understand why people make the decisions
(33:30):
that they make. I look at football games and I
understand the calls that are being made. You may not
like it, but I know why they're making it right,
Because because you're trying to impose your will on an offense,
or you're trying to impose your will on a defense.
Why is it every time you look at a defense
and they're blitzing on second and five? Why why are
(33:52):
they doing that? Because they're trying to impose something. But
why is the offense after two first Hounds doing a
play action on first and him? I understand the game,
and man, this country really will be in hurt if
there's no football. Oh no, you're right about that. So
we gotta run my mom. But look, you're right down
(34:12):
the hall. We will get you on again, definitely. This
is not appreciate, all right, brother, Hey man, I appreciate
you guys man telling something. I'm just waiting for Rob
to tell these shows. I can fall out lesson all right.
From the Steve Harvey Show, It's Chris and Rob. We'll
(34:35):
be back. Keep it Like Fox Sports Radio, Fox Sports

even our right as folks there's no stinging or burning involved.
It's simple pain relief Blue EMU maximum pain relief. It
works fast and you won't smell bad. All right, it's
time for Bruce Sard's Fabulous Five. Are you ready? We're
(35:25):
going big. It's gown. It's Bruce Sard's fab five. All right.
All the talk about Kauai and his legacy and what
it could be got a brother to thanking. And what
I was thinking is that what five players in the
league today have a shot. Now. I don't think all
of them certainly won't make it. Most of them won't
(35:46):
make it. But these are the guys that have a chance,
no matter how miniscule, to be a top ten player
of all time. I've excluded Lebron James because he's already
in the top ten. So here we go in order
of chance. So the first player I name in the
fire slot has the least chance, then the next has
(36:07):
a little better, and so on and so forth. Number
five Luca Dotches, That's right, the boy is bad. Twenty
nine points, nine assists, eight rebounds in just his second
year in the league. Already in the MVP conversation. He's
all folks to a better start to his career than
Lebron James. He led Dallas to the playoffs this year.
(36:28):
Lebron didn't do that in the second year in Cleveland.
What Luke Lucas got to do? Of course, He's win
some MVPs and some championships. Number four, all right, Steph
is already knocking on the door, right, He's knocking on
the door the top ten. He's the best shooter in
NBA history, was the driving force behind a championship of
(36:49):
three rings in five years, made five straight trips to
the finals, which is incredible. If he leads Golden State
to another ring, it may only take one more. In
the era of Durant and Kyrie, in the era of
Kawhi and Paul George, in the era of Lebron and
Anthony Davis. Oh my goodness. If Golden State wins it
(37:13):
next year or going forward, then you can't deny him.
He'll be in number three. Kevin Durant. Look, KD is fantastic.
We all know that he was the best player or
those Golden State championship teams, but hey, we gotta admit
they were a great team already. That takes a little
(37:35):
bit away from it, but if KD can lead Brooklyn
to probably two titles, he needs to get in the
top ten, but maybe one if he leaves him to
the championship next year, He's got a very good shot
at getting in that top ten because he is a
fantastic individual player. Number two Kawhi Leonard Look. Kawhi could
be the first we all know to win three championships,
(37:57):
three finals MVPs with three separates, great two way player.
I don't think he'd be in the top ten yet
if he wins it this year, but he could be
on his way. I think he'll probably win more titles
than Lebron and you know, so that's huge. He's a
great player. So Kawhi is that number two. Number one,
(38:17):
the best chance of any player playing the day to
reach the top ten. Yannis I t tech Coompo about
to win his second MVP award. It's all about the
rings for Yannis. Look a seven footer, he's the size
of Kareem Abdul Jabbar. He scores, he handles the rock,
he assists, he rebounds as well as anybody in the league.
(38:40):
He's arguably the best defender in the league. All he
doesn't do well is shoot the three, and he's getting
better at that. He's actually decent at that. Now. If
he wins rings, that's all it's about. Rings. If he
starts winning rings, this dude is almost a lock to
get into the top ten all time. Here you have it,
(39:01):
Bruce Art's fabulous five. I don't think there's an argument,
Rob ge big a, Rob Parker, No Fox got an argument.
Silence a couple. We got two hours left, keep it locked.

eight on Instagram. Rob is at Rob Parker FS one
on both Twitter and Instagram, and I am in heaven
right now. All right, let me explain I've got the
(40:05):
Brewers and the Cubs or one TV I'm watching just
got some movement on his ball too, he's throwing well.
And then yes, Cubs up to oh. And then I've
got the Rockets and the Raptors and boy Russell Westbrook
and James Harden have taken off where they left. I
(40:27):
mean they just attacking the rim with abandon and uh.
And then we got my man, my partner, mister Rob
Parker's stand up comedy debut about to come on. Rob,
I got my ice cream. I don't know if you
can see me. I got my ice cream and brownies,
(40:48):
all right, I know, yes, I got some brownies I
got that's gotta be vanilla ice cream because your hand
is near that. I can't tell a difference with. That's
actually pretty good. That's actually a pretty good one. So yes,
I hope, I hope you're standing up. Is it's funny,
actually funnier than that joke was. But I'm confident, Rob,
(41:10):
So so let me ask you this. I'm gonna you know,
tee you up, get you ready? What is your style?
Because you know you have comedians who are storytellers. Remember
Richard Pryor always had mud was it Mudbone and you
know he had his stories. You've got comedians who are
big punchline guys. You've got comedians who are physical comedians.
(41:32):
Cedric the Entertained a kind of a physical you know,
the body. And I know that you're not doing that
now because obviously it's just tape. But you know, what
is your style of comedy? Would you say, just like
the average Joe, you know, coming in, I wanna talk
to you, you know, soften you up a little bit,
drop a line in there, make you feel good and laugh,
(41:54):
you know, like those are the best comedians to me,
It's not like, uh, you know, like some people like
they have a theme to it, like this is my life. Man,
I'm miserable right around in Dangerfield. You know, I can't
get any respect, and all the jokes are centered around this.
It's just kind of like talking about my life a
little bit, talking about the people I know, Uh, you
(42:14):
guys are included, the staff or the did you rip me?
Of course I did, I did, so, yes, I can't
wait this go. So what are we doing? So we're
gonna we're going to We're gonna about to play it
now and then we're gonna take calls. We're just stalling.
I'm trying to, you know, to get it to it.
(42:35):
We got a little we're gonna so we're gonna play it,
then we're gonna come back on, we'll talk about it,
and then we'll take calls like we always do on
your segment. So, and we got Antonio Daniels coming on
at the bottom of the hour, one of our favorite
NBA guys to talk to. He's always a lot of fun.
So that'll be coming up in about twenty five minutes.
But without further ado, folks, here is what you've all
(42:59):
been waiting for. Rob Parker, stand up comedian. Ladies and gentlemen,
Welcome into the first annual Odd Couple laugh House with
our host and gracious man with the jokes of the
jokes and hopefully ones that keep him on the air.
(43:19):
It's the one and only Rob Parker. Hey, guys, what's happening? Man?
Thank you for having me at the Odd Couple laugh House. Man,
this is something I've always wanted to do. Here to
entertain you for the next five or seven minutes. I
want you to kick back, have some fun, you know me.
(43:41):
I'm sportswriter, TV analyst, radio guy for about thirty five years.
You know that lived all over the country, traveled all
over the world, all seven continents. You know, I'm a
black man with a master's degree, love people, love to
read about history, very social, all that stuff. And I
want you to know that if I wasn't a sportscaster, analyst,
(44:06):
radio guy, I would be a TV sitcom writer because
I love comedy and I love to entertain people, and
I love to be funny. And speaking of funny, I
want to talk about my odd couple crew on the
radio and those guys. Man, I love doing sports with
those guys. But those guys are a little wacky and stuff.
You know. Chris Broussard, real religious guy, great guy to
(44:29):
hang around. But you know, all guys can take things
a little too serious, especially Chris Broussard. I mean, I
don't want to say he's too religious, but this guy
won't even eat a devil dog. And Chris can take
it to the extreme. You know, I get it. I
go to church, I praise the Lord. I'm thankful. But
(44:51):
Chris has two beautiful daughters, and one of his daughters
brought home a beautiful scourge. She was going out on
a big date and Chris was I rate. He looked
at the packaging and made her take it back to
the store. He wasn't having it, and I was like, us,
what's wrong with you? Didn't you read it? He thought
the package said it was satan. It was satin, Chris relying.
(45:16):
Our producer is a guy named Rob g Man. Cool guy,
makes the show work. You know, love being around a guy,
but I know you always hear us busting on him,
talking about him about how short he is and he
ain't that tall or whatever. Probably the first household that
has two high chairs at the table but only one kid. Nah,
(45:41):
He's really not that short, Rob g I will say
this though, if Hollywood ever decides to make an all
Mexican cast and redo the movie Wizard of Oz, he
will be a munchkin. And Alex Alex is our engineer.
You know, he's playing all the dry you know about
Alex Man. Alex is tight man, a vegan guy trying
(46:05):
to be healthy and do the right thing, but again
he takes things to the extreme. For Valentized Day, he
had the nerve to buy his girlfriend some edible panties
made out of cow. Yeah, yeah, yeah, I know you
guys think I'm just a sports guy and all I
(46:26):
watch is sports and all that. But that's not true.
I'm into the news. I watched the stuff on the news.
It intrigues me. Did you see that story. There's a
real story about this girl. She's sitting on the dock
of the bay, you know, with her family and a
father and whatnot, and out of nowhere, this sea lion
just jumps up, she was a little girl, and just
(46:46):
pulls her into the water. And I was impressed. A
dad man, he was a hero. He immediately jumped into
the water to save her. I was impressed. I can't swear.
I thought, like, would I've done that if that was
my key and I couldn't swim. But the dad blew
it at the end, he really did. After it was
all over, he's drying off his daughter with a towel,
(47:08):
drying her hair and whatnot, and he asked the nerve
to ask her if she wanted to go to Red
Lobster for lunch. And I heard the little girl tell
him no way, no how dad. Apparently she wasn't in
the move for seafood. Can you blame her? I know
(47:29):
a lot of people are leery of New York City.
They say it's too dangerous and they wouldn't want to
live there. You know, all the people, all the crime,
and all the other issues going on. Let me tell you,
I'm gonna set the record straight. That's just a vicious
rumor started by two and a half million victims. I
(47:50):
don't get it. I also lived in Cincinnati, that's right.
I covered the Cincinnati read for a couple of years. Man.
You know, that's a real conservative, strange town. Great place
to raise a family, but if you're a single guy. Man,
you couldn't even get a dirty magazine in Cincinnati. That's
how conservative that place was. But it was also like
(48:10):
down home and cheap to live and all that. I
can remember. They used to have at the ballpark at
the old Riverfront Stadium one dollar hot dogs. Can you
imagine going to the ballpark and eating one dollar hot dogs?
There was only one problem. You needed a four dollar
alca so so to wash it down. Speaking of the Reds,
(48:32):
most of you guys might know that the owner of
her name was March Shot. Yes, she was racist, but
she was loaded had a ton of money. In fact,
when she owned the team back in the nineties, she
had more cash money than any other baseball owner in
the game. But the thing that was amazing was all
these kids during the game used to come down to
(48:56):
her seat and get autographs and ask the gens and
all that, and I just kept saying to myself, Wow,
look at these kids. I'm wondering what they're asking. And
finally I found out most of the kids the most
popular question was is that Beard real? In my second life,
(49:18):
from sports writing sports broadcasting, I definitely want to be
like a TV writer or movie writer or something like that.
That's really my other interests other than sports. And I've
been coming up with some ideas. You know, there's always
like remakes of old TV shows and whatnot. I was
thinking of casting like Will Smith and Martin Lawrence in
(49:45):
a new all black version of Chips. You know the
California Highway Patrolmen. Remember that show was popular. This time,
I'm gonna call it Chocolate Chips, And you know how
it is, how Wood it's all copycat, yes. And with
the success of Black Panther, you remember that movie, It's
(50:07):
set all kinds of records. You're like, the biggest black
movie made since Black Elo. I that knew no Seriously,
Hollywood is a copycat place. If something works, somebody else
is gonna do it, or they keep doing it over
and over and over. And with the success of Black Panther,
(50:28):
I'm now hearing that they're gonna do it all black
casts of the old detective story, Dick Tracy. That's right.
All the characters are gonna be black. All the villains
are gonna be black. It's gonna be amazing. You know what.
They're gonna call it, Big Tracy. All right, man, thank
(50:52):
you for your time. I love doing this. I enjoyed it.
Make sure you tip your waitresses and bartenders. I have
a fall. I hope you did too. You know where
rob not bad, not bad, It ain't easy. That was
(51:12):
what I thought it was a It was pretty good.
I didn't expect it to be that good. Honestly, it
was pretty good. I like it now. I think the
chocolate chip that would have been great. I remember the
first time you told that, I thought it was hilarious.
I'd heard it before, so, but that's a good joke. Um.
I liked the h I wrote down, Uh, what was
(51:34):
the two and a half two and a half, the
two and a half million victims Yes, that was good.
That was that was funny. That was funny. Um, I'm
a devil dog with me. That was good. That was good.
Good the two high chairs with Rob G When Rob
did you laugh? It's true? How could he laugh? I
(51:57):
have not laughed any of the seven times I've heard
you say, Alex, what about you? Rob? Let me let
me tell you this. I've never had didn't get any
laughs from the crowd. I've never had more fun editing
something before in my life. I was sitting here rolling
and I thought, how can I make this better for
all besides just being natural heckling you in little parts?
(52:19):
And I, dude, I loved it, loved it, Thank you buddy.
I will be honest, though, Rob, I think with with
with Alex's help, I think I could do a stand
up and well. But but you know what, I think
Alex did it right with the crowd just to sound
of great, you know what I mean, Like like if
I just did it cold and just did jokes, it
(52:40):
would be hard to be funny like that. So no,
I was happy with it. This Alex's excellent job robing.
Thank you you guys. The best parts are when it's
like silent and Rob still laughing norms off the joke like,
that's the funniest part of the whole thing. And you know,
my kicker joked the last one did that. That's that's
(53:04):
an original you. I came back thirty one time from you. Yeah,
but I did that, huh Rob? G did you laugh
the first time I did? I did alan first time,
but that was that was seventy four times ago. Well,
I mean when something is good. My buddy John just
(53:24):
texts me from Detroit and he said fun. He was
worried out to the uh Tracy joke as well. I'm
shocked they let you say that. No, but did you
know what the bosses they gave me some leeway and
they bleeped it. It's fine. I thought it was g
PG waited right. Yeah, it was a guy. I don't
think I. I got a text from Scott Shapiro. He says, uh,
(53:46):
town Rob, he has a job for now, so he
wuts you up in his office. Is the break during
the break round cebe when aren't we gonna record yours now?
And I'll spine it up. You know, I don't know,
maybe maybe we'll see. We'll see, because I mean, you
did a great job, Rob was good. You were good, Rob,
(54:07):
I give you credit. Uh and Alex really spiced it up.
That was good man. We will see, we will see.
But that was great job. And so look, obviously now
you want to hear what the listeners ninety nine be
honest as always, right, we're always we take the trash
talk you know on Tuesdays from you guys, So be honest,
(54:27):
be honest. I'm a big I'm a big boy when
you step out there. It was great to just do something.
You know, we want to do this in a real
comedy club, but obviously with the pandemic, we would be
waiting for another year, Chris, so we just decided to
do it on the radio. And I hope you guys
enjoyed it. Yep, all right, this is a simple question.
Was Rob funny or not? We will continue the conversation
(54:50):
with you next. It's the Eye Couple Fox Sports Radio.

Christ and Rob on a funky Flashback Friday and we
(55:12):

It was good. We're gonna get your thoughts in a moment,
but first we brought to you by autozon. Allo Zone
is America's number one battery destination. No matter what battery
problems you're dealing with, you can find your battery solution
at Auto Zone. Next time you're having starting trouble started AutoZone,
(55:34):
America's number one battery destination. Get in the zone. All
those zone all right? Eight seven seven ninety nine on
Fox was robbed funny or not? Wow? All right, let's
do it. Let's start with the familiar voice, marking Sacramento.
You're on the odd couple, Fox Sports Radio. What's up? Mark?
(55:55):
Ye're calling you guys on the back phone. Hey Rob, Rob,
nice Rob? You got you got good delivery, Rob, you
got good timing. The material need leads needs a lot
to be desired. You can get some better material. But
you're surprising. Man. You got good timing, you got good delivery.
(56:16):
I'll give you that. But get some better material you
might you might have time. He wasn't bad, right, He's
right at times. The big thing you know that and
doing and being able to do it. Uh yeah, yeah, yeah,
Let's go to Jeff and Nashville. You're on the odd
couple of Fox sportuated. What's up Jeff? What's up? Fella?
(56:36):
All right? So Rob, Honestly, man, I could not have
heard a better commediate performance in Nashville at any of
the comedy clubs. And the only reason for that is
is they're all shut down. My man, wow anything. If
you look in the disccenary, right beside the words dad
(56:58):
joke is a picture of Rob. You was pretty good?
That was funny? Marty in Kentucky, Marty or the I
know Marty's got nothing but love Fox Sports and what's
up Marty? Hey, I'm not I'm not gonna say Rob
was funny just because you know, if he hooked River up.
(57:19):
And I gotta say before I give my opinion. Normally
Rob's freestyle jokes, I feel are not funny when they're
you know, coming out of nowhere responding. I personally feel
I'm funnier than Rob in that situation. But his stand
up I ain't gonna lie. I laughed a lot. I
(57:41):
laughed several times, and I thought that that his stand
up was well done. And I covered Rivers ears on
the fire. That's a good uh. I thought it was
well done. I expected it to be horrible and it
was far from horrible horrible. I laughed several times. That's
a good appreciated. Yeah, you know, like like it could
(58:05):
have been horrible if we didn't dress it up right.
And but but you're right. When you're doing comedy, Chris,
you notice it's the delivery. You know what I mean?
You have the delivery, Sean and Sacramento. Let's see what
Sean says. He was counting down the comic relief. What's up, man? Yeah,
it feels like a worship Wednesday baby my uncle for
(58:27):
my another mother as the flashback Hiday with y'all uncle
Robbie Dangerfield out here though. Yeah. Hey, look I got
two quick points y'all. First of all, I think y'all
first guest name was Junior. Was that his name? Yes? Yeah, man,
I'm glad y'all gave him an intro because I thought
that was Chris Tooker, younger, less talented brother. Yo, rob
(58:51):
you want comedy. I was comed here Robins doing comedy
for the same reason you want to Junior pretending to
know sports. You gotta die birth. That's the five baby,
Let's live and make you. Hey, thank the on cover
for the free promo, Junior, get up out of here
with all that so now now it's a r man, bro.
I thought that was amazing. I didn't like to stand up.
(59:13):
I love it and I appreciate you summing through for
the odd couple of my man. The best joke, Chris,
I'm sorry to say with the Satan slash satin panties.
Come on, man, look the only things around. I would ask, man,
you got to deliver with the life stories. Brother, I
think whenever you come with the life stories, you used
to bring home the cookies for your sister, or when
(59:35):
you used to come up on the other radio stations
of hygiene, y'all get into over there. Man, Hey, we
got to hear more of that baby. But other than that,
Alex with the production of engineer work, and he brought
that whole thing to life. Man, y'all y'all keep it up. Man.
Let let that let that hater inspire you man, not
not defeat you. Baby. No, no, no, it's all good.
It's all good fun. I appreciate that. John and Fredsno,
(59:57):
you're on the couple of Fox Sports Radio. What's up, John? Hey,
what's going on? So you? Yeah, I thought you were
I'm good. I'm good. I thought you were funny, except
I wouldn't really characterize the first couple of minutes to
stand up. It was more you roasting your your colleague, right.
I wanted to get that's fair, but that you were funny.
(01:00:21):
I laughed all the way through. Wow, thank you, John,
I appreciate that. Uh Chris, um, Yes, all right, we
got Antonio Dan sounds like you passed Rob. You definitely
mad man. Nobody trashed me. No, no, I don't think
I could have been trashed on that. I thought it
was good, that it was good, it came it came
(01:00:42):
together well, definitely better than than I expected. So yes,
and now you owe Alex A. Parrott Jordan's Alex and
uh Rob g and uh me no, no, no, now
you it's the eye Coup. We got Antonio Daniels coming

champion and the New Orleans Pelicans analyst our man, Antonio Daniels.
What's up, brother? Yo? What's up? Fellas? How y'all doing?
(01:01:47):
Come on, rob Let me here, let me here, Come
on now he's back. Come on. Yeah, I heard you
got some fire for us. I heard you fire. We
were always said. Look, Zion is in the bubble. He
arrived today, right back in the bubble. Now he's gonna quarantine.
The only thing is you forty pounds? Have you all right? Oh?
(01:02:08):
I'm sorry? Oh that's fine. Look all I want is
Zion to play these eight games. That's what I want.
Oh for sure, I'm right there with you. I am
right there with you. And these eight games are incredibly important,
and these scrimmages are incredibly important for these young teams,
because if you're the Pelicans, you gotta hit the ground running.
(01:02:30):
You know, if you're the Lakers and the Clippers, you
can afford to use these scrimmages as what they are.
They're scrimmages. You know, you can even carry that over
into the Eight Games, right, if you're the Pelicans or
Memphis or Portland or Sacramento or San Antonio or Memphis,
you gotta hit the ground running in a room for error.
And let me ask you this, let me go rid
(01:02:51):
you know mine. Um, all right, let's talk about New
Orleans and I'm gonna go forward because obviously, even if
they make the playoffs, they're gonna probably they're gonna go
out pretty early. But they have all this young talent
from Linzo to Zion to Ingram. Drew is still a
really good player, Drew Holiday. What do you think they
need going forward to become a legitimate contender in a
(01:03:15):
few years. Is it just that these guys needs to
develop or is there something lacking, like a more shooting side,
whatever it may be. What do you what do you
think they need, if anything, to get to that next level. Well, first,
I think they have the best trio under twenty five
in the league. So I think it comes down to
(01:03:37):
allowing these guys an opportunity to grow together. That's really
what it comes down to, because you think about it
this year, what has really hurt this team all year
long has been the lack of health injuries. So it's
hard to get a complete feel on what this team
is capable of when they played well for two or
three games and it Dare Favors is out and they
(01:03:59):
played up for two or three games and then zioned
out and they played well for a couple of games
and then brandon Ingram's out. But when this team is
whole and healthy, I mean we can talk about shooting
because all thirty teams in the league can use more shooting.
In the Pacer space league, that is incredibly important. J J.
Reddick for this team with his ability to stress it
for shoot the basketball and its playoff experience is incredibly
(01:04:22):
important to this team. But for me to move forward,
it's about these guys getting the opportunity to play meaningful
basketball like they're doing now and grow together. Antonio. We've
seen a number of Clippers come in and out of
the bubble and some other players as well, who was
the player Chris who ordered uh went to get some
limits or whatever? Yeah, and all that are you bothered
(01:04:46):
by that? Does that? Does that make a difference or anything,
because it doesn't bother me when when playoff time comes,
they just have to be ready. That's how I look
at it. Well, I mean, the fact of the matter is,
you know when you talk about guys leaving the bubble,
you know, lou Williams out today that you know, someone
in his family's passed, So guys have families. Now, I
don't care how much money you're making. And I know
(01:05:07):
sometimes we put guys on the pedestal because of the
amount of money they're making, as if they're not humans.
You know, guys have different issues that are going on
outside of this bubble. Rashaan Holmes, that's a different case
of scenario. And what I like about the Rashun Holmes
situation and also the Caboclo situation, was this shows that
the NBA is not playing. They're not playing, So my
(01:05:29):
confidence in the bubble has increased significantly. Rashun Holmes cross
state imaginary line and got limon pepper wings. The NBA
could have easily says, you know what, man all right,
we know you didn't mean anything by it, now you know. No,
he was quarantined. They're not playing. You know Caboclo came
out of his room when they were supposed to be
quarantine upon arrival. He came out of his room. They
(01:05:52):
didn't say, oh, well you know what, all right, we
know you just came out of your room a little
bit and went back. No, he was quarantine. So this
is serious and they are taking the responsibility to get
this right seriously. I like it. I like how strict
everything is. Antonia. We I was on Colin Cowhard showed
the herd this morning, and and and Colin got a
(01:06:12):
little beside himself. But but you can be the judge
of that. He said, if Kawhi Leonard, did you hear that?
Did you hear it? I was gone. I was right,
So people Kawhi. Colin said, Kawhi would become a top
five player of all time if they win the championship
(01:06:36):
this year. Right, So I'll just leave it up to you, Antonio,
what are your thoughts on it? Okay? So he told
me that same thing this morning, and I told him
when he was in the process of saying that, Colin,
don't go there. Don't go there. No, no, no, no,
because what we're doing is we're disrespecting the pass. But
we're also crediting Kawhi Leonard. Was something that we used
(01:06:58):
against Lebron James. So we're gonna give Kawhi Leonard credit
for winning a championship with three different teams. When you
curfullly hear that used against Lebron, oh, he has to
move around from team the team to win championships. So
we hold it against Lebron, but credit Kawhi Leonard forward.
But here's the thing when I say don't disrespect the pas,
Kawhi Leonard had played nine NBA season. Okay, if they
(01:07:20):
win the championship this year, no MVP. He's evers in
fifty seven games per season, fifty seven games per seasons
in those nine seasons. Now, look at Kobe Bryant fifteen
time All Star five championships, Tim Duncan fifteen time All
Star five championships, Shaquille O'Neill fifteen time All Star four championships.
(01:07:43):
You can't disrespect what these guys have done with the
young man and Kawhi Leonard that has only playton. Longevity
is important. That's that's a good answer. But what you
got what you gotta admit, and you could you could
go ahead and h sect the numbers if he was
able to win. And I'm just gonna give you a hypothetical.
(01:08:05):
If he wins, he will have he would have raised
two franchises that had never won anything back to back.
This ain't this ain't like you went to stack team
like Kevin Durant. You gotta give him something he would
that would be legendary status. And if he would have winned,
let me ask you this, Say he wins this year,
(01:08:27):
all right, and he wins next year with the Clippers
and they win, but will be three years in a row. Okay, ahead,
that's different. Now you're adding on it completely different. You're
adding on a never NBA championship. That changes the conversation.
That's not where the conversation was. The conversation was. I agree,
he wouldn't be top five, He wouldn't be top five
with this championship. But I think if but I think
(01:08:49):
if he wins this year, it says a lot about
him that he's been to three places and then two
organizations that have no track record of winning whatsoever. I mean,
that's the impressive part. Rob Parker, I agree with you,
but that wasn't the conversation though. The conversation wasn't about
(01:09:10):
how great Kawhi Leonard is, because he is great. It's
different when you're talking about someone being great and then
someone being top five all time after nine seasons of work.
Let me ask you everything fifty seven games perceiving I'm sorry,
I struggle with that. It sounds like based on especially
with the fifty seven games this season, and it looks
(01:09:30):
like he's gonna he may load manage the rest of
his career because it seems like there is something going
on in that knee. Would you I've heard some people
say if he wins this that some people thinking they
might move him ahead of a KD Kevin Durant historically,
where are you on that? See? It depends because now
(01:09:53):
again I had a conversation with a friend of mine
today about this when you talk about Kevin Durant, because
people someone I'm not one of those people. This credit
Kevin Durant for what he did. Okay, he joined the
Golden State Warriors, who won a championship without him, and
then one two hundred seventy three games and he joined
that team. But look at Kevin Durant's overall resume. Look
(01:10:13):
at this overall resume. I'm not talking about just the championships.
Because the thing is, when you start talking about the
elites of this game, something has to separate them from
one another. You know, you can't have this conversation and
not go into the numbers here, or you can't have
this conversation and not go into MBPS and scoring titles.
The same way, Kawhi Leonard has Defensive Player of the
(01:10:35):
Year on his back and so on and so forth.
That's a that's a toughie. That is a tough one
right there. And plus we don't know. The tough part
about this conversation is both of these guys story are
still being written. Kevin Durants gonna play on the Contender
next year and Kawhi Leonard is going to play on
the Contender next year, No no doubt about it. That
that's fair. As we get closer to basketball game starting,
(01:10:59):
what is that next Thursday? Uh, you know we've heard
all kinds of stuff tossed out there, and uh, what
was it? Kenny Smith, the Dallas and Den maybe winning
the championship? Do you think it changed that that much
changes because it's in this kind of venue and that
(01:11:19):
opens up for other people. Are still I always say
the equalizers that you gotta beat somebody four out of seven.
You could beat somebody Antonio once or twice, But some
of these great players and teams, I just find it
hard to believe that you're gonna beat them four times.
Has your perspective on who might win the championship change?
My perspective hasn't changed, but the um the circumstances surrounding
(01:11:46):
them has, because the thing is, we don't know how
teams are going to come out of this right now.
You're seeing so many different guys bow out due to
injury because their bodies aren't accustomed to what they're going
through right now. So you're constantly seeing guys that are injured,
that are nipped up. And you know, Daron Fox a
couple of days ago, do massa bonus just Lefty just
left the bubble because he's so this is different and
(01:12:09):
the fact that there's no home court. So now if
you're some of these other teams and you're the Dallas
Mavericks and you're playing the Los Angeles Lakers, or if
you're the Dallas Mavericks and you're playing the Los Angeles Clippers,
you don't have to worry about beating him in LA
because everything is neutral. So this is I still pick
the Clippers because I picked the Clippers when the season
(01:12:30):
first opened. But I will be telling you if my
confidence was as high now as it was then, because
there's the circumstances that have arrived. This global pandemic has
changed everything. It has shaked. We don't know who's healthy,
who's not healthy, who's in the bubble, who's not in
the bubble, who's gonna play, who's not gonna play. There's
so many underlying circumstances and things that are going on
(01:12:52):
that we have no idea about. So if I'm another
team out there and I'm healthy, I'm a lot more
confident now than that was when the season was postponed.
And that's our man. Antonio Daniel's great stuff. Man. We
appreciate it and have a great weekend, buddy, for sure,
I talk to you too, you too. Shop talk is next,

it is the It is time for shop talk. A
nobody's still in the bomb shop, you know that, ain't nobody?
Isn't you talk about whoever whatever whatever you want to
(01:14:00):
shop talk? No, Scott, he was talking about food. That's
what he was talking about. That's what he was talking about.
Those the cakes he's talking about. Yeah, so it is
shop talk the akable we discuss something to happen outside
of the world as sports, and today's topic comes to
us courtesy of New York Governor Andrew Cuomo. Now they're
starting to reopen the city a little by little, and
if you're a bar owner in New York, you better
(01:14:22):
serve food or us you ain't opening. So apparently, according
to these new regulations, if you're a bar and you're
only serving what he says is unsubstantive, that's the white
unsubstantive food, which includes chicken wings, you cannot reopen, you
must be serving burgers, sandwiches, soups, real meal. So here's
(01:14:42):
the question, guys, do chicken wings count as a real
meal or as just an appetizers? As Cuomo suggesting, Rob
Parker your first. You know, I think it's a meal.
I eat it all the time as a meal. Chicken
wings is a meal. It's like getting a three piece
chicken is just that the pieces are smaller, and uh, seriously,
(01:15:06):
a three piece that can't smaller, right, But that's not
a meal. If you have a ten piece christ and
some fries, that's not dinner. I do think wings are
a meal. I agree with you on that, especially like
I was gonna ask you, I mean, if they serve
wings and fries that I think wings is as much
of a meal as a burger. I do get that
(01:15:29):
wings could be an appetizer, You're not really although even burger,
you can get a slider, right, Sliders could be an appetizer,
right if you get three little sliders? Right? So I
totally think wings are a meal. I mean, heck, you
got whole restaurant chains built on wings, right, But they do,
like in a buffalo wad with they have burgers have fries.
(01:15:49):
You can run salad, they have other stuff. Rob, g
Wings not a meal. It depends how many you get,
because if you're one of those guys you're only getting
like six and fries, then no, that's just like a
finger food that doesn't count. What depends on for you
might not count because you know you got an appetite.
But I'm just a lot of people date that's good talk.
(01:16:14):
You say you said six wings and fries is couldn't
even that's what your appetite. That's finger food. I wouldn't
call six wings dinner. Was six wings and fries, that
could be dinner. That's dinner regardless of the consistency I'm eating.
Here's the common I have on this. So when you
(01:16:36):
get wings though, like say Rob, I'm coming to your
house and you're like, hey, guys, I'm gonna have a cookout,
we're gonna have some dinner. I'm all right what we
have and you're like, I'm gonna have wings. Once you
think people are thinking like wings and what like just wings? Right?
So can I make the argument like if you have
just wings out, it sounds like an appetizer to me,
Like if I was to go eat somewhere you have
to have wings and fries wings in this like, it
just seems like to me it is an appetizer food
(01:16:58):
you can get like twenty of them and then that
turns into a meal. But I think if you go anywhere,
wings are just a staple of like an appetizer in
most places. But what if you go to watch the
Super Bowl as somebody's house and then they got slid, right,
they got things and then we have his wings and
slices of pizza. That be a meal. I would say
you can make it a meal, but again I feel
like it's just a bunch of appetizers. They got dips,
(01:17:19):
they got wings and stuff, and then like the main
entrees them frying up some stuff or maybe cooking steak
or something. So I mean it makes you need fries
with a burger, I mean not really feel like a meal.
I mean salarge. You could have a salad with a burger.
C seems more like. But the point is something else. Yes,
it can't be just a burger, right, I mean, it's
kind of like the American lifestyle. Now we've been trained
(01:17:41):
that way burger fries in a drink, So I get
your point, but I would just say, like consistency wise,
if I think of wings, I think of like I
have an appetizer. So what you're saying is we got
to petition all these restaurants that change wings to an
entree part of the menu. You can't have it in
the appetizer portion. Man, that's what It's definitely in both.
It's definitely in both. Or just get away and have
chicken fingers. Now you can open up. And Cuomo was
(01:18:03):
being facetious. I don't think he was just like, yeah,
if you just I mean, but if you serve wings
and burgers and you know fries, you'd be good. You'd
be good, all right. I Couple one hour left. Fox

Todd Gurley. That's right, the Great Tid Gurley. Is he
(01:18:49):
still great? We will find out he uh, of course
now with the Atlanta Falcons, formerly with the Los Angeles
Rams careers taking a bit of a turn. He was
cut by the Ram. So we'll talk to him about
all of this stuff and what he has in store
for the NFL coming up. So Todd Gurley at the
bottom of the hour. Definitely want to tune in for that.
(01:19:13):
Rob We started off the show and we talked about
it with Antonio Daniels as well. He made some interesting points.
But I mentioned I was on the Colin cole Hurd
Show today the Herd and Colin was beside himself. I
keep using that phrase because I think he was. He
said that if Kawhi Leonard leads the Clippers to this
(01:19:35):
championship with you, which you, me and Antonio Daniels and
a host of other people all think is going to happen.
He said that Kawhi Leonard would join Michael Jordan, Lebron,
James Magic Johnson, and Kareem Abdul Jabbar in the top
five players of all time. Now, I like Kawaii a lot,
(01:20:00):
but I think that is ridiculous I don't think there's
any way after just one championship this year would give
him three for his career, would make him the first
player to win three titles and three finals MVPs for
three different teams in the history of the league. That's
obviously huge, but I think it put him in the
top twentieth range. And then you just have to watch
(01:20:21):
and see how much he builds on that foundation to
try to crack that top ten. I don't know if
he can crack the top five, but lay it's open
because he is a great player and he has a
chance to keep winning. If then it would have to
be special, like he won three in a roll. If
he won three in a row, puis that would give
him four in a row. And if he won the
(01:20:42):
MVP and all he wins four straight championships, he pretty
much I mean Michael Jordan didn't even do that now retired.
But yeah, but it would have to be other than
Bill Russell. I don't know. I don't don't bottom to
day nobody right, That's something would have to rustle in
his Celtics teammates. It would have to be something special
(01:21:03):
like that. I think uh Colin would be on this
one a prisoner of the moment, like yeah, oh yeah,
you're gonna win, and everybody thinks he's gonna win, and no,
that will be unbelievable. I give him. Would he have
some legendary status if he takes two franchises that never
won a championship until he showed up? Dude? Do do
people looking at me in the first year of each
(01:21:25):
with each day you would say this, dude's the difference maker. Chris,
you would say that, I don't care, no question. I
mean people show up and and and win. Uh. I
think that that works out in your advantage of people
looking at you and realizing you're something special. What. Um,
(01:21:47):
there's another guy who can really enhance his legacy and that,
of course, there's a guy that's just right down the
hall and in normal circumstances that being Lebron James. Um,
he could also so become the first player to lead
three separate franchises to championships and you know, presumably be
(01:22:09):
the finals MVP on each team. And I think you'll
agree with this, Rob. Even though Kauhi and he was
great in those finals average seventeen points a game, shot
the ball well defended. Lebron well in twenty fourteen when
the Spurs won it, but that wasn't his team. Nobody
(01:22:29):
would say that was his team. Duncan, Genoblee, Parker all
still still there. It would be another year or two
before he really emerged as you know, this tremendous player.
But with Lebron, that wouldn't be the case. I mean,
obviously Miami was his team, he was the best player. Wade,
Obviously you could say it was his team. But Lebron
(01:22:50):
was their best player. He was the best player in
Cleveland obviously, and he is the best player for the
Lakers right now. So it'd be a little different. So
this is what I want to throw out at you,
rob whose legacy would be enhanced more between Lebron and
Kawuhi if they win this championship. Whose legacy would benefit
(01:23:12):
more if they won this championship? Lebron or Kawhi? I
think it's Kawuhi just from what I talked about earlier.
Uh going to two franchises winning back to back, um
with two franchises that had never won and then to
give you three championships with three different teams, um and
(01:23:36):
and he didn't he didn't have in all of his places,
some stacked team or some manufactured team, or went and
got Anthony Davis or like like like Paul. Yeah, but
but there's still the Clippers. Still just there's something different
Lebron winning a championship with the Lakers. Everybody who's been
(01:23:56):
great Chris would come to the Lakers who won a championship.
It's not unique. And do you know what I mean? Like,
it's just not unique. Elgin's the only one. But I
hear you, Okay, but you know what I mean. It's
not like, oh my god, Lebron want a championship with
the Lakers. Wow. Now why winning a championship with the Clippers? Everybody,
(01:24:16):
even the people in that Let people go look at
it like that. Do you think I mean, I don't
think I get what I think. For history's sake, yes,
he would be the first player to lead the Raptors.
He would be the first player to lead the Clippers.
I get that's. I get what you're saying. I'm not
pooh pooing it. But I don't think people are gonna
(01:24:38):
look at it and say, oh, he did it for
the Clippers, because now we think the Clippers are a
really good team. Nah, you know, ORGAN think we look
at the Raptors and say we look at it last
year and say, hey, he led them to a championship.
He was great. I don't think we give him extra
points because it was the Raptors. I do when I
(01:24:59):
look at what the r There's were every year when
they went to the playoffs and they couldn't get anything done.
They used to win fifty five sixty games, Chris. It
wasn't like they weren't winning games, but in the playoffs
they were nothing. They just Lebron went through them. They
always were disappointing. All I'm saying is from a historical standpoint.
I mean, I don't think anybody and I'll say it,
(01:25:24):
we'll have we'll be able to accomplish that. To win
back to back championships on two franchises that had never won,
I think that's a phenomenal feat. Not like he won
one in Toronto and eight years later won one with
the Clippers back to back years, and then you know,
coming to La playing in the same building with Lebron,
(01:25:46):
spurring Lebron and then winning the championship. I think I
think that's that says something about about Kawaii. But to
you it would, it'd be a great accomplishment. But to
your point, the Raptors were good it before Kauai got
now he's gone. No, but they didn't have to face
Lebron again either. Yeah, you know, they didn't face Lebron
(01:26:08):
last year in the in the finals or in the
conference finals. They had never they had never won, And
I think that, No, I get it, but I'm just
saying I don't think we think of it like that,
Like does Steph get extra and granted Golden State won
it in seventy five before, but does Steph get props?
Because they were horrible for the better part of horrible
thirty five years horrible and never winning is different from
(01:26:32):
me never winning. And I just don't think that two
franchises had had never won. I mean, didn't mean more
for Dirk because he they had never won. Did we
ever I ever bring that up? That don't even know,
But I mean, Dallas had never won a championship. No,
But I well, of course they have an infinity for
(01:26:52):
him because of it. But I'm just talking about the
idea that you could you could pick up leave go
somewhere else and the next year of that team that
got knocked out in the first round is winning a championship. Well,
he also brought Paul George, just like when Lebron brought
Anthony Davis with him, he brought Paul George, who's not
quite as good but still a great player. I hear you.
I mean the argument for Kauai benefiting more to me
(01:27:17):
is that Lebron is already widely viewed as the second
best player ever. Some you know, a few think he's
the goat. If he wins this championship. To most people,
most he'll still be viewed as the second best player ever.
And there will be some, especially the young, who I
(01:27:41):
think will try to elevate him over Michael. But I
think most of the people creating a narrative today will
still have him second. So there's not much he can jump.
Whereas Kauai, even though we disagree with Colin, I mean,
it does say that he's going to jump. He's gonna
have a huge jump if he wins it. Now, I
won't be top five. Some people might think it's top twelve.
(01:28:04):
You know, I'm with you. Like Lebron's jump camp, Yeah,
it wouldn't be the huge jump like Kawai's jump makes
put him in the legendary status. It just does I
think his jump, well, people will go what he wont again?
And then christ I'm just saying, obviously Durant and and
Kywee in Brooklyn and we don't know what's gonna happen
(01:28:24):
after that. But then don't tell me you don't look
at the Clippers the next year and saying, oh god,
they might be the favorite again. If they might probably
would be. Why why wouldn't they be, right, why wouldn't
they be? They would They're still young? Yeah, they would
be the favorite. So yeah, and I think for Kauahi
to this point, I don't think anybody's really thinking of
(01:28:46):
him in terms of historic status. Now. If he were
to retire, you know, before this season, then we say, okay,
where does he rank? You know? But if he wins
this championship, now all of a sudden, we're like, okay,
where he is. This is a guy that's going to
(01:29:07):
have a chance to crack the top ten and maybe
hired depending on what they do. So I do think
I give you that, but I'm gonna throw a little
wrinkle in on it. I think even though Kauai would
get more of a boost because he you know, Lebron's
already at number two in many people's eyes. I think
Lebron needs it more. Lebron needs it more. He's three
(01:29:31):
and six. I don't disagree with that right now. Three
and six is a lot different than four and six.
And as you said it, everybody of his caliber, saving
el Jim Baylor, who's you know, at all time great
but not quite as good as Lebron. Everybody of that
caliber has won a championship there except Baylor. So if
(01:29:52):
he were to come to LA and not do it,
then some people could use that against him. Like I said,
he's got the six losses, this would be a win,
and he's talked about people said he couldn't do it
in the West. Then you could say, Okay, he did
it in the West, titles, you know, three different teams,
first person to do it. So I think he needs
it more. But because Kauai obvious also has time. I mean, heck,
(01:30:16):
if the Clippers don't win it this year, but they
win it next year, Kauhi all of a sudden again
is back in that conversation, right like, Okay, how how far? Yeah,
he's got like three years right yea, So this is
not like a makeup break one year for the Clippers.
It's not by any stretch of this might be. And
this is what we keep saying, this is Lebron's best
(01:30:37):
last chance to win, you know what I mean, Like
like if they don't win Quch, we don't know coming
back for year eighteen, the toll that has taken you
just you just don't know, especially Rob because right now,
I mean, they're playing in the start in December, so
you're not gonna get much of a rest, you know,
for if you go to the finals especially, you're not
gonna get much of a rest before next season. So
(01:31:00):
how will that impact a guy that is thirty six
years old at that point and you know, in his
eighteenth year. So yeah, it's it's an interesting conversation. I
think that just makes That's what Rob Make is making.
It's so intriguing with these NBA playoffs, and it's why
one reason we're glad that they're playing, you know, because
(01:31:22):
all these storylines are still there and so it's a
lot of fun to think about. All right. Eight seven
seven ninety nine on Fox eight seven seven nine nine
six sixty three sixty nine, we got a question for you,
who stands to benefit more from winning a championship this year,
whose legacy will be enhanced more Kawis or Lebron's. We
(01:31:47):

Couple Fox Sports Radio. Be sure to catch live editions

Blue Emo Maximum Pain Relief works fast and you won't stink. Rob.
I know when you were covering the Knicks, you were
in the discos, dancing to Casey in the Sunshine Band.
(01:32:52):
Tell me you weren't with my After games with my Gaberdine,
bell bottom pads. What they said you all that all
that material? Chris. It was like, if you go back
and think about how why the legs of your pants were,
it's embarrassing. Oh man, Right, he'll be back I guess
I assume they'll come back at some point, right, every
twenty years. The clothes we used to wear, man, I
(01:33:15):
just well, think about think about how baggy everybody used
to wear stuff. The jeans sag, yeah, four sizes too big. Yeah,
so that that we look back at that and it's
like what the yeah, and now everything's super tight, right,
So now it's the European cut, all right? Age seven
(01:33:35):
seven ninety nine. Fox. Let's see where you are on this?
Uh Douglas in Cleveland, you're on the odd couple of
Fox Sports Radio. What's up, Douglas? How are you doing this?
I'm sur park Man. How are you all right? That's
trying to say glory? I was like quiet. They enhance
this legacy mark having three different typeles, different reads. Okay, no,
(01:33:57):
that's right, and you're from are you salty about lebron
or somewhere? Uh? Well, I just like you got a
quiet because he's like a quiet Warrior, Douglas, you had
something else to say that, Chris, go ahead, what is it?
(01:34:18):
I like your chick on Cleveland how sigrigated? It is?
All right? Yeah, he grew up one of the most
exgated seeds cities in the country. You know that. Yeah,
you can say that alright, a couple of places. Thanks Douglas,
Matthew and South Carolina. You're on the odd couple of
Fox Sports Radio. What's up? Matthew? Love you, Rob love you, Chris,
Thank you a great show. Listen to it every night
(01:34:41):
when I can. Um. I think Kawhi's got a lot
more game left in then Lebron does. And I think
Lebron's legacy is already established, So Kawhi's gotta get his
legacy more established, and I think he'll win it. That's fair, No,
(01:35:06):
that is he has Yeah, Kauhi and also robbed I mean, yeah,
Kauhi's got a nice legacy. But nobody's thinking if he
doesn't win it this year, you know, nobody's thinking, okay,
and if Lebron doesn't win, it'll be like, oh, you
had Anthony David, You're the best team in the West,
and you couldn't win, right, yep, yep. All right, Robert
(01:35:29):
in Georgia, you're on the yard. A couple of fox
sportuated what's up Robert and Dad? What's going on? What's up? Man?
Hey man? Look, I think he's look Lebron legacy and
I'll tell you why. Uh. First of all, I think
Lebron he wanted in Miami, he had the Wayne Way.
He came back to Cleveland, brought him a championship that
(01:35:50):
they was starving for and they were saying the East
was weak. He goes to the West. Now he's the
number one seed and if he winned with the Ales,
that just enhances What have you done? Not taking nothing
away from Kauwhai, but Kauhi won that championship last year.
We know white want it. Come on, come on now,
(01:36:11):
we're not playing that game. We're not playing that game.
You play, but you can knit pick but you could do.
We count it no asterisk, but we can we get it.
We get it. Yeah. I'm just this one because this
is this is what we said. Where do you have
Lebron ranked already all time? I'm a Leboom fan. I
(01:36:35):
got him number two. Okay, if he wins it this year,
does he become number one or is he just still
number two? But maybe a tag closer? You're tag closer.
I would say he's a tag closer. But I think
the Kauai has to I mean I think the Kauai
would have to do more because of the way this Oh,
(01:36:57):
he would definitely have to do more than this one.
We're not saying that at all. Yeah, he'll get bored.
Where is he at now? Where is he now? Without
this championship? What is he? I mean, he's top twenty
thirty something, thad thirty ish, you know somewhere around here.
I mean, he's a great player, and he did in
two rings. Is nothing to sneeze at it, you know
(01:37:18):
what I mean? It ain't that easy. How about Drey
and Michigan. You're on the yad couple of Fox Sports? Udd,
what's up? Dre? Hey? What's going on? Fells? How y'all bond?
How are you? I'm doing fine? Man, I just gotta
command your brothers once again. Man Huh ruined pretty much
any other sports show for me. Man and the Huh.
I think the reason why is because y'all still had
(01:37:39):
that journalistic integrity. Man. You know the way y'all that
interview y'all had with Mark Town a couple of weeks ago.
Then I think it's another time y'all have people that
disagree with y'all called. You know. That just showed that
y'all not just about people back in your opinion, but
y'all asked you trying to put a story out there.
So I appreciate you. Brothers. Man needs a lot to
both of us because of our backgrounds and right we
(01:38:00):
went to school for you know what I mean. It
means definitely got that Josted pedigree, man, for real. I
love that. I appreciate y'all, but I think it benefits
Lebron more only because he's fighting for that ghast status.
I mean, his numbers and everything is already he's already legendary.
But for him, if he keep up to get another championship,
and I think, get him just a step closer to
(01:38:20):
that goat uh status. Yeah that's true. And Rob, here's
the interesting things you were saying. If you know Kauhi
wins the next three year next, no I know, but
what if Lebron. Look, I generally think he can't catch Jordan,
but if he what if he won the next two
and he's now he's five and six with eleven appearances
(01:38:44):
and then three the first to win it with three
different teams. I mean that would be it would be
something in argument. Yeah, how about something? How about if
he went and lost two more and he had he
wouldn't especially especially, that would be that would be a
death kneil. I mean, all right, he could go and lose, right, Well,
(01:39:05):
not just to go and lose because he drops into
what three and seven, three and eight, whatever, but because
he had Anthony Davis, right, and he los to whoever
in the East, none of neither of him, none of
those teams in the East half Lebron and Anthony Davis. Oh,
you're right, that would that would be even You're right
that those losses would be looked at and be like,
how did he lose those? Right? And there's no way
(01:39:27):
he could really be thought of as the goat. What
about Max? Max and Georgia you're on the yard a
couple of Fox Sports Radio. What's up? Max? Max? You
for stepping out your comfort zone tonight and doing your thing.
I was gonna say, I hope you heard it. It
was a lot of fun. Loved it social media. I
know Max taped it probably have played about five times.
(01:39:50):
Did you laugh for a couple of times? Come on,
you laughed a couple of times. I laughed, and I
recorded it for sure. It was good in this. So
this is this is interesting because you know, you look
at all time when they've matched up. You know, Kawhi
is fifteen to nine, but as of late, in the
last five matchups, he's won four times and he's outscored
(01:40:11):
him three times. And so to me, that's what I
look at. You look at three finals, MVPs, three titles
potentially UM, three teams, two countries to title the team.
The guy cares enough to play both sides the ball.
When he plays UM, he's clutching the moment. He's level headed.
You don't see him freaking out on the bench or
yelling at teammates. He's the he's the cool terminator, you know,
(01:40:33):
he's the guy to play the king. And I think
it's it's it's funny because Jordan took it from Bird
and Magic and they admitted it later. Kawhi looks like
took it from Lebron and k D. That's my good Okay,
let's stay on Max Keip Max. Yeah, I want to
ask you, is he on you still on? Yep? That's
a good that's a strong take. If he wins it
(01:40:54):
this year, where are you looking at him all time?
You know? Boy thoughts range? Yeah, we are, we talking
Kawhi Lebron with why wins it? Does? Does he jump
it through the top ten? Is he top five? Like
Colin is saying, where would he go? Top five is
too much for me to say at this point in time.
I think top ten is debatable right now. I have
(01:41:15):
him k D kind of on that top ten, top eleven,
top nine bubble. They're they're they're both right there. One guy,
I wanted to mention and hear what you guys thought.
What about d Wade? I know he's third, you know, second,
third best at his position, but you know, give him
some credit, give him some love. What about d Wade? Yeah?
I look obviously all time great. I got him with Jordan,
(01:41:38):
I've got Jordan, Kobe and Jerry West I believe ahead
and then Wade fourth. But I think Harden could catch
Wade if he can win a ring. If you add,
if you're adding the thousand free throws Wade got with
that championship, that might change your mind. Yeah, I can't put.
I don't think he's anywhere near the top ten. I
mean he's thirties, in the thirties, somewhere around there, and
(01:42:01):
he had a great career. I put Isaiah Thomas ahead
of him. Yeah, from Detroit, you know. But Wade great, no,
no doubt. And here's here's what I give you about
Wade at his peak, he was I think his peak
was every bit as good, if not arguably like peaks.
It's right up there with Kobe, Like how his his peak,
(01:42:24):
he just his peak wasn't that long because you know,
he kind of got worn down and injuries and things
like that. But Wade, you know, certainly all time great.
All right, it's the Eye Couple, Grison Rode. We got
a great interview with Todd Gurley coming up. But first,
Fox Sports Radio has the best sports talk lineup in
the nation. Catch all of our shows at Fox Sports
(01:42:46):

f SR to listen live. All right, it's the Eye Couple,
Chris and Rob and we are joined by Todd Gurley,
all pro running back formerly the Los Angeles Rams, now
of course with the Atlanta Falcons. Todd welcome to the
eye A couple of brother How are you man, I'm
(01:43:06):
doing good. How are you doing? I'm great, man, I'm great.
I can't wait to see you on the field this
year hopefully, of course. But let's let's start. You're here
on behalf of Gatorade and this year's Gatorade National Male
Athlete of the Years, a young man named Eric Gilbert
who's a tight end out of Georgia that's committed to
play at LSU next season. And from what I understand,
(01:43:27):
you were part of the surprise video announcement. What was
that like and how much did it hurt you to
hear him pick LSU Bulldogs. Well, obviously everyone is entitled
to Oneman's taking his life and that was his woman.
But you know, I gotta get credit to the young
Shuller for being able to win a Gatorade Male Athlete
(01:43:49):
of the Year award. I mean, that's the most prestige
award in high school sports. But I was I was
a part of the surprise video. I sent him a
video actually recorded probably about sixteen times, but you know,
it was it was cool, you know, to be able
to see a young kid his dreams come true. But
then also be able to be the top of his class,
(01:44:10):
to be able to you know, it's just it's a
blessing for him and his family. So I'm definitely excited
for him, you know, excited to see his journey and
where it takes him. No, that's great, man, that's great.
And um, look, I've seen you on the shop with
Lebron and all them, so I gotta ask you basketball
starting up next week? Uh, it seems like all of
(01:44:32):
La wants him to bring the Lakers a championship. Who
who's your pick? Though? Be objective? I know Lebron, you
cool with him, but who's your pick? You know, I
got to go with the Lake show man. It's only
right now? Is that because you like Lebron? Do you
really think Lebron get some time off? Now? Correctly? Over all?
(01:44:55):
Right now, I got the Clippers, man, But look, I'm
giving the Lakers a shot. They certainly got a good Yeah, yeah,
that can team to win. If I was betting they
they they both got chances. It's gonna be a great series.
I'm assuming they're gonna meet in the Western Conference finals,
so that'll be great. But um, let's get to your sports. Yeah,
(01:45:15):
it's gonna be fun. Yeah. Yeah, let's get to your sport, football,
and you know, obviously a new start for you in
Atlanta this year. How excited are you about kind of
this fresh start, man, I'm excited. I mean obviously being
able to play football at at Georgia and college and
then to go back to it to the city that
(01:45:37):
already embraced me when I was in La first, when
I was in college, and probably gonna embrace me even
more for just being able to come play for their
home team. It's it's exciting for me. Um, It's like
you said, it's a fresh start for me. So I'm
playing with one of the best receivers in the game
and Julio, I'm an MVP quarterback in Matt Rhyme. I
(01:45:58):
mean opportunities, you know, the be able to be on
the field with those guys and a bunch of other
guys as great players as well. And I already kind
of had a relationship with a couple of guys on
the team, So it's gonna be fun. How are you
feeling physically, Obviously that's kind of been an issue over
the last few years. How are you feeling like like
you feel like, yeah, I feel fine, man, I've been
(01:46:20):
able to you know, train this off season, you know,
get my mind, get my body right, and it's it's
come prepared and ready for the season. You know, it's
about that time since this training camp comes. You know
it's time to go hit, hit the role running and
you know, I'm ready for whatever they need me to do.
So that's that's kind of how I'm taking this approach
(01:46:43):
and going go in with a great mindset, ready to
help the team out and be able to do do
what I do best, and that's you know, scorting touchdowns
two years ago, of course, I mean you had a
phenomenal year. Arguably, you know, could we're certainly in the
MVP race. A lot of people thought you deserve the MVP.
We know you had the knee injury. How tough was
(01:47:04):
this last kind of year? You know, year, year and
a half whatever it's been for you. You know, obviously
an elite running back, but to go through what you
did over last year and a half, how tough was
that for you? I don't feel like it was a
tough man. I mean, I'm such a strong grounded person
that you know, my mind is ready to take on
whatever challenge. It is mentally, And I'll tell as long
(01:47:28):
as I keep that approach and keep working, stay consistent,
you know, I know everything gonna work out for me.
You know, I end up getting cut and ended up
getting sign up with Atlanta, you know, a couple of
days later. So I mean, just just keeping God in
my corners, doing the right things, and then just working
hard and everything else is gonna, you know, speak for itself.
(01:47:52):
So like I said, I'm excited for the fresh start,
new opportunity going back to Georgia. I really well having
any other way being cut put? Does that put a
chip on your shoulder? Like you know, obviously nobody likes that.
I even hear guys say they get traded. Of course
they want to, you know, they want to prove to
(01:48:13):
the other team they made a mistake. How much of
a chip on your shoulder? You know? Man, All I'm
gonna say is, you know it's time, you human human,
I'm gonna go. You know I'm not Yeah, I'm not,
I'm not going. I'm not really you know, the right
rod guy, I'm never too how I never took. I'm
(01:48:33):
just right in between. But you know, come on game day,
you know, I know what I'm capable of. I know
the work I've been able to put in throughout the
off season and on the field, and I know, you
know what type of teammate I am. And at the
end of the day, there's only one ball. But I
know when I get the opportunity to do what I
do best, um, I know I'm gonna do it well.
(01:48:54):
And that's just the way I have to take that approach.
And you know some people forget sometimes, so definitely got
to let him know him and let him remember I
feel you, because I'm just gonna honestly, I got to
ask you this time because I was wondering that all
last year because the rams were saying, you're not hurt,
You're fine, and I'm like, well, why isn't he getting
the ball more? Why is it? You know what I mean? Like, so,
(01:49:15):
what was the deal? Was the knee bothering you? What
was you know? Were you as baffled as the rest
of us when you weren't getting the ball? Or what
was it? Man? All right? I always say this, there's
only one football. I always say this. Obviously, if one
person production go down, someone else has to go up.
We had a healthy Cooper Cup who end up tearing
(01:49:36):
the ACL probably two years prior so he was able
to be on the field. Robert Woods. I mean, he
kind of speaks for himself. Brandon Cooks and we started
getting the tight ends involved a lot more with Kickbe
and Darrell Everett, and obviously everyone wants to see me
get the ball. But I've never been that person. You know,
I've always been a team first guy. I'm never going
(01:50:01):
to complain, you know, when the opportunity comes to me,
I'm gonna just sit back and be ready. And that's
all I can do is control. With our control, I
was able to obviously play in fifteen out of the
last sixteen games last year, and and you know football
is you know, injuries is a hundred sent For me
(01:50:21):
to be able to play in fifteen out of sixteen
games and have to still have whatever the amount of
carries I had. Um, you know, I feel like, you know,
things that didn't go my ways, but it is what
it is. It's life. You know. You just got to
be able to line how to control those things and
maintain them and then also to be able to to
(01:50:42):
regain focus but then also not lose yourself, you know,
lose your k to lose your personality and not make
it about you because football is the ultimate teen sport.
It's never going to be about one person because at
the end of the day, there's going to be another
tire girl and that's just going to happen for years
and years to come. So you can't never get to
you know, never to hid yourself because it's the alternate
(01:51:05):
team game. You know, you can have ten guys do
the right thing, but it takes just one guy of
the play. So kind of just do what I do,
be a good teammate, be a good pro, a professional,
and just go to work there and take care of
my business when when I have to, Well you you're
a good brother. Man. That's a good nice answer, man.
(01:51:28):
So I'm looking forward to seeing you in Atlanta, right,
I feel you. Everything's gonna work out for the best.
What good luck down there in the Atlanta man. I
can't wait to see you in the Red and Black man.
Have a great season. Yeah, I appreciate it. Thank you,
all right, Todd Peace man. Or a couple coming your
(01:51:48):
way Chris and Rob Fox Sports Radio. It's the couple
Chris and Rob wrapping up Not only a funky flashback,
Friday with our man dj Alex tischert if she's a
bad man a gemma. But wrapping up another week and
I can't believe these words are about to leave my mouth.
(01:52:11):
What Rob Parker is going on vacation again? It's ridiculous.
A few weeks ago I did a full week with
George Reister, like three weeks ago? Is that what it?
Why it was? I mean, what is this? Rob? I
(01:52:33):
think to tell her brother something. It's just that I
need you know, I've been working hard, you know, juggling
these jobs that hard. Come on a little bit now
you have because you're writing a column. Now I'll give
you problems. I'm a little bit business, you know that
right now. And it's all working out of debtspin dot com. Chris.
So you know we between us and having to take
(01:52:55):
a little time off, uh you know for a load, right,
we had to take a couple So it's a couple
of extra weeks we really have to take off that
we normally don't get. Well, it's interesting because I asked,
do we still get our paid vacation which we do? Yeah,
and we we took two. We all are taking two
unpaid vacation time That's what I'm saying. So it's yeah,
(01:53:19):
and uh, you know, I try to do it before
football season, right, so that's like the last four months.
You really can't take any time off right right right
because those take off for Christmas September, September through December,
so that really limits what we can do. So, um, yeah,
I'm just gonna kick back. I don't have any major plans,
(01:53:40):
you know me normally, I like to go visit people
and travel and go to ball games and eat chicken
wings with friends. I'm just gonna go back to Detroit
and New York and hang out for a little bit,
