It's The Odd Couple with Chris Broussard and Rob Parker! Chris and Rob debate whether or not there really is a 'deterioration' coming from Tom Brady as some have suggested, explain why the last 2 years of Carson Wentz should serve as a cautionary tale for all the Patrick Mahomes fanboys out there, and why they both think that the 2001 Lakers lead by Shaquille O'Neal and Kobe Bryan would beat the 2018 Warriors led by Kevin Durant and Steph Curry. The Odd Couple crew also shares the items on their bucket lists in the latest episode of Shop Talk. Plus, appearances by Hall of Fame quarterback Warren Moon, former Packers assistant coach Winston Moss and Yahoo Sports Senior NBA writer Vince Goodwill.

(00:48):
your car insurance. Visit geecode dot com for a free
rate quote. Big Sports Night tonight, you got a heck
of an NFL game going on could decide the champion
of the AFC, or at least the regular season champion.
The number one seed Kansas City Chiefs and the Los
Angeles Chargers doing battle. Who are the best quarterbacks in

(01:11):
the league this year? Patrick Mahomes and Philip Rivers. And
then you've got the Lakers visiting the Houston Rockets. And
who would have thought, Rob Parker that going into this
game the Los Angeles Lakers would be the team that
is playing great basketball, and the Houston Rockets are really
struggling and right now out of the playoff picture. Of course,

(01:34):
a long way to go. Season doesn't even started yet.
December twenty fifth is when the NBA season started more
and that the records they got about twenty twenty seven
games between something like that. I don't know about this
the league. The season doesn't start till Christmas and all that,
but I've heard it before. And then we got some

(01:55):
great guests. Rob we got Winston Moss, who I guess
he rose to fame a couple of weeks ago, not
even two weeks ago, when he tweeted about Aaron Rodgers
or really about the type of coach the Packers should
be looking for. And then he got fives Mike McCarthy
and then he was fired. So he will join us

(02:15):
in about twenty five minutes to talk about that. We've
got in the second hour, Vince Goodwill, who is a
senior NBA writer for Yahoo. He does a great job.
My nephew. Yeah, that's what I call him. My ex
he's actually wanting to explain he's actually my ex wife's cousin. Wow,

(02:38):
and uh, I helped mentor him when he got started
in he was a little little boy when you got
he was young. Yeah, he was young. And it's so
great to see where he is. He's done a great
does Yeah he covered he covered the Pistons for the
Detroit News and then went to Chicago cover the Bulls.
So he to be a sports writer. When you met him,
like yeah, yeah, oh, he was in school and yeah

(02:58):
it was in school college, was in college. Okay, I
thought he was even younger. Yeah, no, no, no, he's no,
he's he's about twenty years younger than me. Okay, so
you know what I mean. He was right at uh
once he you know, went to college. So so Vince
is doing real well and I'm very happy and I'm
glad he'll be on the show. All right. And then

(03:18):
the third hour, Hall of Fame quarterback one of the
best to ever throw the ball, Warren Moon he wanted
to join us, had some really strong comments about Tom
Brady and starting to deteriorate. I know that that warmed
your heart. You know, it's just like wow, music to
my ears. Can I turn this up a little bit? No, no, no,

(03:38):
But the Warren Moon. We knows all about football and
all about quarterbacks and won all those great cups in
Canada and put up he had one of them, one
of the great playoff games, and then the defense let
him down when the Oilers were gonna be Buffalo. And
that was that game that Frank Reich brought the Buffalo
Bills back. Right. I was watching that game, Chris, if

(04:00):
you were in Los Angeles and it was a ten
am playoff game, you know, being out here at that time.
My girlfriend used to work for the La Times. I
was out here visiting her, and I could you know
when the game was like a blowout at first, and
it looked like Houston was gonna win. Yeah, we were like,
all right, let's we could go out or whatever, and
then they started coming back and uh no, we didn't

(04:22):
because just as we were thinking too, yeah, yeah, she
knew I wanted to watch the football playoff games and
all that. While Yeah, all right, so all right, let's
welcome in, of course, the odd Couple crew, because we
wouldn't be able to do this fine radio program without them,
and of course Rob gr producer, Alex Our, engineer, Deb Carson,

(04:43):
the sports anchor. Of course, you'll keep us updated as
the evening goes on. And Chris Bruce Sard they're all
on the other side of the glass on this TV
theme song Thursday, So let's kick some man. All right?
That was real nice. That was really smooth for you.
There you go, that's all right. Hey, you know me,

(05:04):
I'm a sports writer. What do you want from me? Right?
You're like, I'm not a rapper. I'm a sports writer,
always have been. All right, Well, this game tonight, I'm
so excited about the football game, first and foremost of
the Chiefs and the surprising Chargers who really came on
strong at the end of last year. So I don't forget.
Remember Anthony lind was a new coach last year, has

(05:27):
done a terrific job, and they started owing Ford if
you remember already. A team can flip on you, Chris,
if you're owing for your first time head coach, right,
it could be like this dude doesn't know what he's doing,
pointing fingers, you know what I mean, all kinds of stuff.
And it didn't happen. He righted that ship. They wound

(05:49):
up winning rob g what they win seven or eight
in a row. At some point they turned it around
the Charges last year and then they just got off
to a good start this year and they've been rolling.
Yeah have and what one of the angles there are
many we talked about it. I mean, the winner of
this could end up being in the driver's seat for
the AFC playoffs. If the Chargers win, they win the

(06:12):
a FC West, the Chiefs lock it up the lock up.
I believe the playoffs the Charge would get Chiefs would
lock up the division because there both what's what's so
that's one angle, but the angle another angle I'm really

(06:32):
interested in is the quarterback battle. And Patrick Mahomes of
course in his first full season as a starter, and
Philip Rivers, who's been one of the best quarterbacks in
the league, you know for the last what twelve years
or so. Uh, they're going at it and Patrick Mahomes

(06:52):
became the front runner just yesterday. Well that's by Vegas.
But yeah, yeah, but let's be careful though, But I mean, yeah,
it's not guaranteed. I mean, that's what but that's not
about do we judge the front run No, no, but
that's not by the writer. That's not, of course, But
there's just no writer's poll. No, no, no, you don't know.
But I'm just saying just because Vegas says, that's where
they want. Because Vegas, you're gonna say they've got the

(07:14):
best they put out. They put out odds because they
want people to bet their money. So it's not always
like you know, someone explained it to me. They might
when they do the point spreads. They're trying to get
people to bet a lot of money on a certain team.
So that's why they do the points that way. Yeah,
do you know what I mean if there's a little
science to it. Oh, I get it, I get it.

(07:35):
But another girl to sending them for that is front runner. Yeah,
I'm just saying. I mean, you don't want to give
him the level. That's what I'm saying. I'm just saying,
just be don't say he robbed you. It is Patrick
Mahomes the front runner for the MVP Award. We only
have one way to measure it from right now. We

(07:55):
can you have your opinion, I have my opinion. All
the writers, who are really the most important because they're voting,
the NFL writers, they have their opinion, but we don't
really know what their consensus is. So all we have
to go on right now, it's Vegas, and Vegas is
saying that Patrick Mahons and Vegass. I told you on

(08:17):
Monday Vegas the front run. If Vegas didn't say that,
you wouldn't be using Vegas as your as your barometer,
would you know? If if if Vegas had Breeze ahead,
I would say Breeze is the front runner. But I
think Mahomes should is the MVP right now. But didn't
we just have who do we have on the other
day who said that he thought Breeze was still in

(08:39):
the league? Didn't on our show? Yeah? Didn't. Didn't we
have We had some I can't remember exactly who it was.
It would was it would did he say Breeze? I
don't remember if he thought. Somebody did. I can't remember now.
What was a football player we had on and somebody
said that they still thought he was he was in league.
But anyway, tonight's a big game, okay, And this is

(09:00):
one of those games against a really good team and
the Charges. This is what I'm most impressed by. They
won that big game in Pittsburgh without Melvin Gordon. They're
running back. This is the third He's not playing today Pittsburg.
Of course, didn't have James Connor, right, and that's when
both teams are banged up, but teams. But to go
on the road as a road team and win that game.

(09:20):
Remember they were down by sixteen in the first half,
and they came back and won that game on the
road without their start running back and uh no Melvin
Gordon tonight. So this will be interesting to see the Chiefs.
Uh you know, playing at home. They're a tough team.
They're good team at home. I've got to be honest, Rob,
and I do think the Chiefs are very good. I

(09:44):
do think they're a balanced team. They got one of
the better defenses in the league, and they've got one
of the better offenses in the league. No, the charge
charges not to change, you said, Chiefs. Oh sorry, That's
why I was like, I looked too crazy when you
said that one of the best Chargers have one of
the better defens and obviously one of the better offenses.

(10:07):
Philip Rivers has been great for for years. But I
I can't get over this. There's a mental barrier in
my mind where I just can't believe in them. And
you know what, I understand. I'm not going to discount
what you're saying, when you have a guy like Philip Rivers,

(10:27):
and this is what I've always did, One of my
big debates is always as a sports fan, you're just
a sports fan. Who would you rather have Philip Rivers
and is consistent regular seasons but no prize at the end.
Or would you take Eli who's terribly erratic and have
had a lot of bad elite regular season career, but

(10:50):
he has two big super Bowl wins, two big MVPs
in the Super Bowl, beat the eighteen and old Patriots.
Which guy would you rather have as a fan? Would
you have a guy always keeps you in the hunt
and you have a good team, or would you have
a guy who they're gonna be years when you're five
and eleven and you're out of it and he has
a terrible year right with thirty interceptions, but he won

(11:12):
you two super Bowls? Well, which one satisfies you more?
If you let me answer it, this one, not one,
And then if you're not satisfied with my answer, I'll
cut yours if you ask me whose career at this point,
let's say they both retired tomorrow. Whose career would I
rather have? Philip Rivers or who's clearly been better in

(11:33):
the regular season than Eli. Who would whose career would
I rather have? Eli? Mann? No doubt the two the
two Super Bowls be surprised fans. Some fans don't like
you if you ask me starting that, Like if you
ask me which quarterback would I rather have? Like both
starting their careers, are both in their prime with which

(11:55):
quarterback would I rather have? It's not even a question
that I would rather or half Philip Rivers? Wow, Hey,
depth caution is who's your Your answer is Eli? Eli?
Would take Eli ten times out of ten times. I'm
saying I'm not saying like like fifteen years ago, or

(12:15):
like Rivers is to me, Rivers is the better quarterback.
Even still, I still would take Eli ten out of
ten times, knowing what I know, like at right now,
if they're both end of their careers tomorrow, I see.
I think if Rivers is in those positions Eli's in,
he can deliver like Eli well, but he's been the
playoffs and haven't been. But I don't put it all

(12:36):
on him. He's just been a tough warrior. Yeah. Ay,
deb Who would you who would you take? As a fan? Yeah?
Just like if they both the careers ended tomorrow and
you know what, you know what happened. Who would you
rather have as as as your quarterback? As a fan,
I would rather Okay, if I'm the guy, I'd rather
be Eli. If I am a fan, I'd rather have

(12:56):
Philip because he does at least you know you've got
a shot every year. You never know from game to
game which Eli is going to be out on the field.
That's true, but don't isn't it. Let me turn it
on you. I want to see if you're consistent as
a fan, would you rather have Tom Brady or Aaron Rodgers?

(13:19):
Because Rogers is you're always You're always You're always gonna
take the guy with the most, so you would rather Well,
he's just so many more too. But he's he's consistent
generally during the regular season two though, So that's kind
of apples to Orange. Yeah, that's the only thing is
is the difference is Eli is just like not good
at all, like, you know, like really bad regular seasons.

(13:40):
So you gotta as a fan put up with that.
But if you know that there's two prizes that come
out of him, you know what I mean, at some
point that makes up for all the bad stuff. Whereas
when you look at Philip Rivers and he's had a
long career, consistent, he's a much better exactly, but he's
playing what's Rob, rob g what's his playoff record and

(14:02):
his numbers? Because I would like to see, like, actually,
how bad it's been for him. But I would take Eli. Yeah,
I wasn't when I say I would take Rivers as
a fan, I wasn't really bringing the two Super Bowls
into play. I was just saying, like, if I had
the choice, right, which one would I rather have? I'd
rather have Rivers. But if I'm the player, like Deb

(14:23):
said at the end of my career, I'd rather be
Eli right than Philip Rivers at this point in leage, Yeah,
because you're always gonna have been super Bowl winning quarterback
Eli Manning right, Whereas and he's a legend and in
New York and here's here's what we got. Rob just
passed it along. He's four and five and nine playoff games,
eleven touchdowns and nine picks, So nothing special, you know

(14:45):
what I mean? He has a play I hadn't been
special outside of those two Super Bowls. Both would go look,
but go look those up, Rob, those two playoff runs tremendous.
But outside of that, no, he's been terrible. Yeah, and
the regular season, Look, he hasn't been atrocious every year,
he's no. Average are pretty good. But they went they
went like four years or I'll making a plays in
a row. I mean it's like like Super Bowl or

(15:08):
busw Yeah, but again, he went through that period where
he lost stray hand, he lost that defense that they
had during his hot runs too. And they didn't have
anybody necessarily special on offense. They had a couple of
key pieces, but you know during those runs, they had
Tiki Barber, they had who's the other big running back
they had that was got a lot of the goal line,
remember brand Jacob, Yes, exactly. But here's the other thing.

(15:32):
Here's the thing. He's fifteen touchdowns two picks during those
two super rolls run. Those those are incredible numbers. That's
why he was MVP both times those As a Giants fan, though,
does that does that satisfy you? Though? That was satisfy two.
It ain't even just one fluke one you want two?

(15:52):
It does? And you beat Tom Brady twice both times. Yeah,
you always like to bring that. I like him, all right,
Thank you to have. He was Pat Mahomes before Pat Mahomes,
and now he's serving as something of a cautionary tale.
We'll explain next. It's the Eye Couple Fox Sports Radio.
It's the Eye couple of Chris Brussard and Rob Parker

(16:15):
bringing you into that Christmas season. This is my favorite
season of the year. I guess most people's favorite. Everybody
who doesn't like Christmas, who doesn't like you don't like Christmas?
Something wrong? You really are screwed. So you were out
chopping to day. I did some Christmas shop. Really, yeah,
I might even got you something, Mita, really you want
my Christmas present? Today? It wasn't They wasn't Louis Vatimes loafers.

(16:40):
But you know, yeah, baby, some ugs, some Tim Brady ugs.
Would you wear him on discount? Some real? H No,
you got you got the I got the man. Yeah.
But like those are like nobody when they see you.
They're not saying, oh, he's wearing ugs. They just think
you've got some nice boots. Right, I think I need
to get you. I'm not wearing You wouldn't wear him,

(17:03):
You wouldn't all the way up to my knee like
a woman. Well no, because they got. They got the
ankle Yeah, the ankle ones. Those are the men's ones.
Men do men wear a bout? Yeah? Tom rocks him.
He wears them. Yeah. Yeah. You ever see Tom and
those dancing? And where was he in brazila somewhere then?
Wasn't a pretty picture? Hey? All I know is he's
got five super Bowl rings. Whatever. That answers everything? He

(17:27):
got A few answers, yeah, a few answers. All Right.
We are brought to you by a Discover card and
Discovered treats you like you would treat yourself. Rob. You
and I are in agreement on this, and we have
been all season, although I think now there is some disagreement.
But we talked about, you know, when Baker made field,

(17:50):
and remember Sam Darnold had his first game, he bounces
back from throwing the pick six on his first pass first,
and then the Jets scored the most point they ever
scored in the road game ever, right for his first win. Right,
So people have been, you know, been just jumping on
the bandwagon of all these quarterbacks. I haven't heard our
good buddy Colin Cowherd talking about how all five rookies

(18:12):
now this year are playing tremendously and they're setting a
new Pairadigamond so on and so forth. And you and
I have always been like, look, let's just slow down.
Because RG three, I mean RG three and Kaepernick were
supposed to revolutionize the quarterback position. And we always talk
about a Ron jowarsk you played quarterback, was a great

(18:32):
analyst analysts right, and he was love Kaepernick says be
one of the best quarterbacks of all times. I remember
that was early on in his career where we're like once,
I mean, like wow. And it's not that Kaepernick didn't
have his moments, because he did, went to three NFC
Championship games, went to a Super Bowl, and he put

(18:52):
up some incredible numbers running with the football. Remember that
playoff game against the Packers. He was with hardball. That
was a perfect combination, I guess. But but the point is,
it's just too soon to automatically think someone is going
to continue to be at that page or or without
their b to see more than one year. Now. Again,

(19:15):
I may be going off track, because I do believe
Patrick Mahomes is the real deal, but I feel like
the things he's doing like they're sustainable. RG three, It
was always okay, can you really run like that in
the NFL? I mean put up some numbers, you get broken,
you tend to get broken up. And he was rookie

(19:36):
of the Offer Remembers, made the playoffs that game. He
was great when he got hurt, you know, but we
still have said you need to be cautious. And I
know you love Carson Wentz. One of your favorite players
in the league and I like him. And last year,
don't forget he was on his way to winning the

(19:58):
MVP until he got hurt. And no, like you can't
you you think he was the MVP. He took about
him like he was the more touchdowns and I would
have voted for him back up. Would you have voted
for him? Yeah, because remember it's the regular season that count.
But he missed three sixteen half he got hurt. How

(20:22):
many games did he play or how long he got
hurt that he got the first half he got hurt. Yeah,
so too. And part of that part of the job
description is being there, and he wasn't there. But he
had a great year and this year he's been he's
been good. He hasn't been average, he's been really he's

(20:43):
been good. He's been. I think he's coming and pass
and coming back from a big injury too. I mean
he's been good. Obviously the team hasn't played that well,
but I think he he is an example Rob. But
what you and I have talked about now, it's not
saying he's not gonna have a good career and he's
gonna lose his starting position as something, none of that.

(21:04):
But he may not be this superstar. He may not
be this hall of famer that he looked like he
was on a Hall of Fame track in last year.
He may not be. But I'm not ready to say
because of if he but you're not ready to say, like, no,
not if this year, if he played like he did
last year, wouldn't you be saying, Okay, he's gonna be

(21:26):
a Hall of famer he looks like he's on a
Hall of Fame track. Now, I don't think. I don't
think we say, because first of all, you're talking about
a back, and you know this, Chris, you can't even
tie your shoes if your back's not right, so you
can't trying to play quarterback in the NFL would have
messed up back. Are you concerned about this? Not as
bad bad. It doesn't seem like it's that bad, not
as bad because there's no surgery. No, you know, like

(21:47):
they saying like there's no surgery required. Heel itself in
about six weeks. So just kind of like let him,
and it makes sense. The Eagles shouldn't play out of it. Honestly,
even if they if they win this week, I still
wouldn't play. You still would just play, Yeah, I would.
But but because you're talking about long term, you expect
this guy to be around for a long term. This

(22:08):
is only his third year, correct, So you don't want
to like force him in there and then have him
hurt himself and then lose him for even a longer
period of time. So I'm with you, and you know
you have a decent backup. I mean, heck a very
capable backup star, and he plays his best like Folds

(22:29):
will probably however long Folds plays, whether it's just this
game or it's the next two or the rest of
the season, he'll probably be lights out. He might because
he's like Ryan Fitzpatrick, like when he's when he's not
the guy comes out and then when you expect him
to be that guy, he turns into a pump, right, No,

(22:50):
that's him, That's why. And what I like about Folds
is he knows himself, know thyself, knowledge of self. Malcolm X.
You say that knowledge of self? He had knowledge yourself
when all these teams went to trade for him, and
all we want Folds to be our starter. He knew. No,
I'm good, So I'm good. So basically, if you don't
know hockey, don't talk about hockey. Well we have we

(23:11):
ever talked about. But I'm just saying myself. I mean
I know a little bit of hockey, not air hockey. No,
I covered hockey. I cover Stanley Cops. I've done all
that stuff. Chris, you cannot go to Detroit and work
there without hockey. I've covered Have you covered hockey before?
We half covered the hockey? A couple of hockey games, yes,
New York on Cleveland for the Akron Beacon Journal. And

(23:32):
I covered soccer MLS the Cleveland Crunch. Oh god, yeah,
I was that. I was ahead of my chime. I
wrote a line a guy that you used to work for,
Bill Likekenberger. Billy Bill gave me my first break? Did
he really? He promoted me from covering high school sports
to the NBA. He gave me a big break. You
like him, but I love Bill. I love Bill. He

(23:56):
gave me. I wrote a line when the Crunch they
won this playoff game or something, and I said, and
they sealed it with a disc, that's a dope line.
Did you deal with it this now? This is like
nineteen ninety five and he's like, oh, that's a little
too much. You know, that's too hip hop blah blah
blah blah blah. And you know, now this is just

(24:19):
a common phrase, and you know you might Did he
take it out? Did he take it out of the copy?
I don't remember if they took it out or we
just talked about it afterwards. He might have left it
in but didn't really like it. I can I'm not sure.
I think I wanted to lean toward he took it out.
Can I give you one? You remember Vic Ziegel, who
was even sports the Daily News, and Vic, my first

(24:41):
year at the Daily News, told me I wrote some
of the best leads at the entire paper, not just
the sport. I was twenty two years old. Wow. He
came over to me one day and told me that
this was the lead that was one of my favorites,
and you know how much I love television, They're all that.
Willis Reid was the coach of the Nets, and Willis
Reid before the season started to the Nets, we're going
to uh win fifty games and make the playoffs. So

(25:04):
that was his prediction or whatever, So I said Nets coach.
Willis Reed said, the Nets fifty games and make the playoffs,
and then period new graph with the apologies to Gary Coleman.
What you're talking about Willis's it made it all right?

(25:30):
How much blame does Aaron Rodgers deserve for the Mike
McCarthy firing in Green Bay? Former Packers assistant Winston Moss
has the answer. But first let's bring in Dab Carson
for the latest in sports. How you doing today? I
am fantastic looking forward to this Thursday night match up
from Arrowhead, a great AFC West battle between the eleven
and two chiefs hosting the ten and three Chargers playoff

(25:54):
implications tonight. If Kansas City wins, they clinched the West
and a first round by If the Chargers win, they
will clinch their first playoff berth since twenty thirteen. Chargers
will be without Melvin Gordon running Buck won't be playing
because of his sprain knee, and chief safety Eric Barry
will be making his season debut against the Chargers in
a limited capacity. He tore his achilles at the beginning

(26:15):
of last season. You guys were just talking about this.
A CT scam on the back of Eagles quarterback Carson
Wentz revealed a fracture to vertebrate, so he won't need surgery,
but he will need rest. Nick Foles gets the start
for Philly Sunday against the Rams. Steelers running back James
connerm is practice again today because of his high ankle sprain.
NBA news Raptors center Juannis Valanciunists will be out four

(26:36):
weeks following surgery to repair his dislocated left thumb, and
the Knicks have signed a rookie Alonzo Trier to a
two year deal. Second year is a team option, but
the deal is worth around seven million dollars. Saying your
check engine light come on could be stressful. The Auto

Diaz goes to the race. Guys, all right, dev thanks
a lot. It is the Eye Couple. Chris, Bruce Sard

The only hard part is figuring out which way is easier.
And we are pleased to bring in our first guest
of the show. He's the former Green Bay Packers assistant coach.
You can follow him on Twitter at Insane Cane Insane

(27:42):
Insane Cane Sea any ninety nine. Cane is in Miami Hurricanes.
That's where he played his college ball at. He is
none other than Winston Moss. Winston, welcome to the Odd Couple.
Welcome and Chris whoa, whoa, that's an associate head coach. Left.
All right, let's get that wrong. Sorry about that. Park

(28:05):
That on me? All right? All right, whoever takes to blame,
I don't care. Somebody's got to take the bullet. That's right,
that's right. Well, we appreciate you joining us. And you
kind of became famous like a week and a half
ago or so when you, of course tweeted just about
who the Packers should hire as their next head coach,

(28:28):
and you said they need somebody to keep everybody accountable
from number twelve on up to everybody else. Explain to
us you know what you were thinking when you tweeted
that and what you meant by Was it taking the
wrong way or did you you know, was it just
as you meant it to be? Or talk to us
about that. Christ and Rob. First of all, it wasn't famous.

(28:50):
I'm infamous now. I run. I could run out of
Queen Day. I've had a hiding California. I'm down in
Florida on on a an asylum here and so I'm
seeking political asylum. So the tweet was basically talking to

(29:11):
the Green Bay fans about um, their frustrations in the
frustrations of this year and the disappointment and losing five
out of our last six games. We lost a tough
game at Minnesota the previous week. We we have our
head coach fired, and they were looking for answers, and

(29:31):
I thought that I can at least give them some
direction and give them some insight. Now again, I'm gonna
say this over and over and over again. The tweet
wasn't directed towards anybody in the organization. The tweet wasn't
directed at anyone in particular, as in ie Aaron Rodgers,

(29:52):
the head coach that the decision makers of the Green
Bay package inside the pick, it's common sense to understand
that you're gonna have to hold the top guy accountable
as well as the last guy on the totem pote,
whoever that is. And so that's where that tweet was

(30:13):
all about. It was taken out of context. I'm not
sorry about what I tweeted. I'm thoroughly disappointed, And then
how it was taken whether the Twitter comments, whether the
Packard organization and dismissing me. I'm thoroughly disappointed in how
the way it was taken out of context, and I

(30:36):
didn't get a chance to state my taste before being
let go. Was My only question would be how often
in the past before were you tweeting about the organization
and stuff like that, Like were you doing that before
or this was something new? Because it just seemed like
as a coach, you know, they just they don't like

(31:00):
that kind of stuff. Chris, Hey, Chris, that's a great question.
Now with that being said, that's raw. I'm rab um.
Here's the deal I got on I was on Twitter
years ago. I got off of it didn't feel like
it was serving any purpose. I got on it this
year because I wanted my own personal uh goal of

(31:24):
inspiring and encouraging and motivating. If you follow my Twitter feed,
you will you will understand that. And I can remember,
just off the top of my head, there was after
the Rams loss and after they were just I mean
smashing time Montgomery. There was so he got death, death

(31:44):
threats and whatnot. And so I remember tweeting something specifically
football related. I'm saying, hey, hey, Packer fans, I know
it's frustrating. I know you wanted a different outcome, but
hanging there. That's stay tough, that stay together. We're all
in this together. We're gonna find a way to rally
and win games. And so I have tweeted football related

(32:09):
comments in the past. It wasn't I eat controversial as
in a this yeah sected. This tweet was taken so
but I have tweeted out football tweets before. Okay, so
how quickly after you sent that tweet out did you
know you were in trouble? Like, how long did it

(32:30):
take before they contact? Did you would say there's a problem.
Here's here's the kicker. I tweeted that thing out. I
want to say, don't quote men like like eight forty nine,
eight fifty nine. In the morning, like I do my
normal routine. I wake up, I get into I get
into the office, I do my ritual of reading the

(32:51):
Bible and reading quotes and reading inspiration, reading current events.
And I tweeted out right before that tweet in this
vorational court out of the Bible. And so I there
was a Tuesday. It was our game planning day. I
went on the entire day. Nobody said a word. Seven

(33:12):
o'clock in the evening time, I going to Coach Sylvan's
office and I was asking for permission to attend my
daughter's um graduation. What's happened yesterday? And gration. It turned
out into a escalation of hey, the tweet, tweet, tweet, YadA, YadA, yadada,

(33:33):
And next thing I know, um, he's in my office
and an hour later saying, hey, listen, we gotta let
you go wow. Wow. Do you think Aaron Rodgers had
anything to do with Mike Montgomery or McCarthy's firing and yours? No,
I would that would be that that would be unless

(33:55):
I had hard evidence, I would have to say not.
So what what do you think Winston went wrong this year?
I picked you guys to win the Super Bowl and
a lot of people did as well. What do you
think happened this year? Why? Why weren't you guys able
to play up to that level? Man? That that's a
million dollar question. I didn't think we played good complimentary ball.

(34:18):
I think there was spurts and the where the defense
played role. I think there was first real offense play roll.
I think there was spurts where there's special teams play roll.
But we never put it together for sixty minutes for
up until what eleven twelve games going in so far
this season. Yep, So that was that was basically it.

(34:38):
We did not play together as a team for whatever reason.
If if if we had that, Crystal Balling can add
that answer there, we wouldn't be asking these questions. We
would be Cristal Balling Um. The lot of re picture
will be Cristal balling Mansions and Lambo's and we'll be
Cristal ball and everything else. We'll be doing a lot

(35:00):
all the other stuff besides besides this, Hey, Winston, we
got about thirty seconds left. Just what is the future
hole you still obviously want to coach? Would it just
be the NFL, would be college or what are you
looking to do? I'm I'm I'm keeping all doors open.
I would love an opportunity, my next opportunity. It's in

(35:20):
guy's hands and I'm I'm playing and I'm willing that
it all works out. Are you getting pushed back like
you said, you know, you kind of joked a little
bit about you know, being on asylum and all that.
Were you? Uh? Are you getting pushed back from elsewhere
around the league besides Green Bay? As like you thinking you,

(35:41):
you know, you might not be able to get a
job somewhere else, because I'm sure you probably I would
think you can get a job somewhere Else's an assistance
over a tweet. I just don't see what I would
have I would have hoped. Yeah, No, no other coach
or head coach of GM would say, hey, this guy
is a is a is a tweeting machine. Right, He's

(36:01):
gonna hurt our organization. He's wait, I was just wondering
if you if Yeah, I was wondering because when you
were talking earlier, I was wondering if you were actually
hearing stuff from people in the league. First, it's just
the media. Sounds like it's just been the media pushback. No,
it's just been a mea, just just Twitter fan base. Okay, Okay,
that's all I've heard. Now. Like I said, I shoot

(36:23):
those tweets out, guys, and I don't even for the
most part to read most of them back because I
don't want to get into I don't want to get
into the bas right, I want to. I want to.
I want to shoot my ideas and my my inspiration,
motivation and encouragement now and I want to let a
role and I move on to the next all right,
I'm sure with another team sooner or later. The luck

(36:44):
to you, all right, thanks a lot, happy holidays. Appreciated
you guys as well, to take care of all right,
Maybe Lebron already has his second star. I'll explain next.

(37:50):
Name never left. We got stuff to get scaring the listener.
You're gonna cause it accident. You're gonna call somebody to rap.
It's the eye couple of Chris Brussard and Rob Parker,
the great singer. My partner and we brob have talked

(38:12):
about the great football game tonight that we're really looking
forward to. About to start any moment, about ten fifteen
minutes uh the Kansas City Chiefs and the San Diego Chargers.
There's a big basketball. I'm sorry Los Angeles Chargers. Uh I.
There's a big basketball game tonight, Los Angeles Lakers at

(38:33):
the Houston Rockets, and that's also starting in about twenty minutes.
And that leads me to the Hellsberg Diamond in the rough.
Josh Harton gets it to Lebron ball fake Lebrons bounce
to Kuzma. He's gonna get it right back from Zoul
and as in, Zoe gets the assists, Kus gets the
triple rob. If you haven't noticed, Kyle Kuzma has been

(38:58):
bawling lately. Yeah. The big story all year and it'll
continue to be. The big story is who's going to
join Lebron. Who's going to become the Lakers' second star?
Will they swing a trade for Anthony davis Well, Kevin
Durant or Kawhi Leonard or Clay Thompson joined the Lakers
to be that sidekick to Lebron. Kyle Kuzman is not

(39:21):
on the level of any of those guys, but he is,
at least for this season, becoming Lebron's second star. He
had thirty three points in their last game, the victory
over the Miami Heat. He's averaged twenty points over his
last ten games, twenty five points over the last five games.

(39:42):
Be No, he can shoot the ball, he can catch
and shoot, and he can score in a number of ways.
This is a guy that's playing well with Lebron James,
no doubt about it. But he was last year. He
had a rookie year, yelp. He was the best rookie
on the Lakers by far. And you know what, he
has a lot of confidence of offensively, He's not afraid
to take those shots, Chris, And that's what you're looking for.

(40:05):
Somebody who has offensive confidence, who's not afraid but the
big moment, not afraid to take a big shot. So
he could wind up being that guy. I don't I
don't disagree with you, which you seldom that we are
on the same page, but in the idea of Kyle
Kuzman with you well, and I don't want look, don't
take this the wrong way. He's not going to be

(40:25):
as good as Scottie Pippen. And he's a totally different
type of player than Pippen. He's not the playmaker or
the defender that Pippen was. He's more of a pure scorer.
But watching him reminds me of watching Pippen grow under Lebron,
and that's what I see happening with Kuzman. He's growing
under Lebron. His Pippen grew under Jordan. All right, speaking

(40:46):

You send us a tweet that's worth putting on the
air and really shakes things up and you just might
get a shout out on the odd couple that's Rob

(41:53):
g and DJ Alex tyshert Man in the social media line. So, Chris,
are you a good test taker? Uh? Wow, that's a
I was okay. I mean I did well. I always did.
Sometimes people I didn't do very well. I did pretty
well on the act, not that SAT SAT. I really

(42:13):
did poorly. Some people are good at at taking tests right,
and some people are good at maybe writing, but when
it comes time to a test. So for me, it
depended on what type of test. Yeah, what you're taking today.
I got my California driver's license finally been out here
for adulations. But I'd like I was trying. I was trying,
Like I was so kind of nervous about it because

(42:35):
I hadn't taken a driver's test and thirty five years
or whatever it's been for so long or and so
I was like, and I didn't have the book, so
I felt like I was going to So I went
online and they had like some practice tests, so I
just went off of that. I like, I practiced a
couple of tests, maybe for an hour, hour and a

(42:56):
half tops. You put in work. Well. I just was like,
because I wasn't for me, I only taking the test
in a long time, and I did putty, Well, you
can get you have to get eighty three percent correct,
so you could miss seven out of forty out of
forty YEP, and I wind up missing like three or four.
I was pretty happy to at myself. I was like,

(43:17):
I just didn't want to, like because I didn't want
to fail, and then like it took forever to get
the appointment just to do it and a half Wow
that you put in work amount of time. Yeah, I
honestly I probably would have studied for twenty minutes. Really,
that's it. I just would because I think I did
one back in Jersey, so but you did seven years ago.

(43:40):
But I haven't done one since my first driver's license
test in New York back in the eighties. And they
asked you a lot of stuff you really don't need
to know. No, no, no. But I'm glad you passed
because I would have had to do the show without
you you have gotten here. I would have had to
take an uber or a lift every day because I
wouldn't be able to drive. Ye I bet, I bet

(44:01):
you know. I ain't doing it, don't have to pick
me up. You wouldn't have driven, well, I don't like, yeah,
you would not have driven because I'm not gonna be
in handcuffs and on the back page or in the newspaper.
I'm like, what do they expect you to do? You're
a hard working, law abiding citizens gotta have a license.
But you tried. I mean, you know there's a there's

(44:23):
real criminals out there, like you could lose you what
if you had to lose a job. Now obviously wouldn't
have lost a job, but you had to lose a
job because I can't drive anymore. I mean, come, what
says does that? But you gotta get your you gotta
get your paperwork, and you could fail the test three times,
and then after three times you gotta pay a new
fee and start the application over. It's only thirty five dollars.

(44:45):
I don't want the fuzz on my back. I don't either,
But the fuz rembories to call them the fun fus.
But I Bruce or probably would have been behind that
wheel all right, all right, I don't know if you
would have passed with just twenty minutes to study it.
Moving on? Uh, I know you you just you heard

(45:09):
something this week that just tickled your fancy. You heard
something this week that put joy in your heart. Oh,
don't come on, man, you heard something this week that
made you feel like you have been ahead of the curve.
You mean like I felt like having a pack of
cigarettes or something like I was sold for exactly no question.

(45:32):
And this is what it was, from none other than
Hall of Famer Warren Moon. This was to bleach your report,
he says, quote the numbers are starting the show about
Tom Brady. There's a deterioration coming, especially when we talked
about the blitzing, because that's because something he used to

(45:55):
really excel out. You do start to lose some of
your reflexes and responses. I started to get that out
later out of my career too. Even though your mind
knows when you should be going, sometimes your body doesn't
react as fast. You're starting to see some of that
with him, Tom Brady. Look at that, Warren Moon calling
it like he sees it. I love guys who are
honest in this business. I love it. I do too,

(46:18):
And I give Warren Moon all the credit in the
world because he could just be politically correct and just
be like Tom Brady's a great quarterback, and I still
put him on my team no matter what. He's just
telling people what people might not want to hear. But
we all know what do we always say, Chris fall
the time is undefeated. It's nothing. That's nothing against Tom Brady.
That's my thing is I don't think this is some

(46:41):
With all due respect to Warren Moon, I don't think
this is a huge revelation. I've been saying all you well,
but but here's my point. He's forty one. Is he
what he was two three? Five years ago? No, how
about six months? But he's still a very good quarterback.
And his team is nine and four. But they still

(47:06):
have a chance to win the Super Bowl. They don't
have a chance to win the super Bowl. They don't know.
Does the world beat there in the AFC? It doesn't
matter that is. But I'm gonna tell that team is
not the same team a on the road, which is
probably where they gotta go to Chris. Their defense is
not good. I didn't say Tom Brady's good. I'm just

(47:27):
telling the cities. I'm just telling you. You believe I
told you that, But I'm telling you their defense. Tom
can't defense that defense, because Tom's not that good. Their
defense is no worse than most of these defenses and good.
There are a few teams out there that play there.
And to further notice, they are not. They're not winning
the super Bowl. I'm not stop putting that out favorite.

(47:48):
Why because they're not. I'm not saying they're a favorite.
You you cannot sing it. You sat here a week
two and said they were done. They're done. I'm they're
nine and four. They have I would be watched the
game against the Dolphins. Did you watch that game? I
watched New Orleans against Dallas too. Does that mean I'm
writing off the Saints? But the Cowboys didn't score the

(48:10):
second half? So what they won the game? You played
to win the game? You played to win the game.
I mean, Rob you can. I'm telling you, I don't
care that Tom Brady is not what he was not
an MVP this year. He is still a winner, He
is still a leader, and he still is an incredibly

(48:31):
smart quarterback. The game still has that team believing in him,
and he still is capable of getting this team to
the super Bowl. And there is no world beat out there.
When I picked them to be the favorites in the
AFC or the super Bowl. No, but you cannot see
here and tell me they have no chance. That's just
not telling you they're not going to the super Bowl.

(48:53):
That that thinking that out. Just like you win the
super Bowl and picked him to win. I picked the
Eagles to win the better I'm telling you, I'm just
if you're gonna give a you're gonna get my call wrong.
At least get the right wrong Philadelphia, get the right,
the right, right, wrong, call the right. No, you cannot

(49:15):
say I can't they don't have a chance. That's just
not who's the team. You're so confident. It doesn't matter.
It's about them. It's not about any other team. It's
about them. Everybody. Tom Brady can't cover up there. No,
tom Brady's not the same guy. This is a guy
who went almost two full games or three games with
one touchdown tom Brady this year. Look at the games

(49:38):
he had. He had like three games where he scored one.
It's been bad. The last three games. You're gonna you're
gonna is he done now? I mean, come on, it
has been Did Drew Brees have one touchdown the three games?
Let me tell you about tom Brady's last game. So
you wanted to bring up Miami, I mean because because
you can't have it both ways. If you're just gonna
look at the wins and losses, then he's tacular nine

(50:00):
and four. If we're gonna if you want to look
at stats, all they won, but he was bad. Okay,
let me give you some stats in a loss to Miami,
twenty seven of forty three. That's not really it's sixty
three percent completion. I'll take that. That's not what you
call people completely passive, seventy I take that. What did
he have? What's his best day? Seventy five percent? No,

(50:22):
seventy seven percent. What I'm saying, sixty three years probably,
but it's still a good day. The reason these dudes
throw seventy five percent completions is because they're throwing little
dump passes. All that's by No, he had three hundred
and fifty eight yards was a dump off, and somebody
ran ninety yards, three touchdowns and zero interceptions. He's thrown

(50:43):
for over three hundred yards the last two weeks. He's
thrown for at least two hundred and fifty yards in it.
I don't know what this is. The last ten games,
not impressive two hundred and fifty yards in the NFL nowadays,
that's nothing. Drew Brees hasn't hit that mark in like
seven games. We haven't hit it in the last week.
Oh but when I bring up winning, you don't you

(51:04):
want to point out the individual stats. I'm telling you, man,
Tom Brady is still a live wire, and he's still
got a chance to win a live wire. He's robbed.
You don't Nobody else is with you. Let nobody else
If you would have asked people right now, do you
think that the Patriots could make it, will make it
to the super Bowl with Tom? Buddy, nobody's on that

(51:25):
bus with you. Oh no, you don't know. You have seven.
Nobody can barely get a seat on that bus. Nobody
believes because Kansas City's not a world beater, Sandy or
Los Angeles Chargers are not a world beater, Pittsburgh is
not a world beater, Houston is not a world beater.
And Dab Carson is on my bus. Dad, give Rob

(51:48):
a little taste of something. I am on that bus.
I'll take Tom Brady at seventy five, about twenty six,
I have I have. But as you say about the NBA, season,
and it doesn't start until Christmas. Tom brady season doesn't
start until about week sixteen, preach week seventeen, rolling into

(52:08):
the playoffs, even if he doesn't have a bye week.
I would put my money on Tom Brady and whoever's
playing with him, whatever Island of Misfit Toys or on
his team. This season, you talked about, you know what
he's done, and you talked about a little three game
stretch in November that didn't matter. Oh, it didn't matter.
How about this three game stretch He's last three, six touchdowns,

(52:29):
one interception, averaging well over three hundred yards a game.
The dude, he's not done now, war move may be right.
There may be a little deterioration. Oh he may be
still he's still good enough. No, he's the Super Bowl.
He's not the same quarterback that people think he is
that you're living in the past. Wow, he just threw

(52:51):
for three hundred and sixties. That's not the same. He's
still the one between the ears. He's still the same guy. Right,
He's got the intangibles. Brady Brady as deteriorated, Father time
will will catch up with Tom Brady. This will be
the year to go on the road. And when they
go on the road and they're not the home team
in the playoffs, I will bet anybody who comes along

(53:11):
that they'll lose. He's four, what is he? Three and
four lifetime on the road, they don't play the same
That's what that was the good Tom Brady, and they don't.
They don't win on the road. The goody I'm talking
about was the outstanding times and there were three and
there were three and four in the road, he's not
to say, good Brady. Well, let's see how the path
sets up and where he would have to go to.

(53:32):
Let's wait until until we get there. But he's still
I would still put my money on him. Like at
this point, I would still say, yeah, they're the favorites
to go. I mean, again, the Chiefs look ridiculously good,
but they've had some bumps too. But they're still you know,
you know, they're still gonna probably be in the AFC
Championship Game. And I'm not even going as far as
I'm not even saying they're the favorite in the AC.

(53:54):
But when you tell me Rob they have no chance,
that that's hogwash, that's poppycock, that's good glee gook. Thank you.
You know that's that's way out there. It's balder dash.
I mean to say that they have no chance. Come on,
I just want I look at that team and the
things that have happened this year, and what's going on
with Tom Brady. This dude's in the super Bowl every

(54:16):
other year. That's he lives in the super Bowl. Loses
in the super Bowl too, because he's lost three now
but he's won five. Yeah, but he's lost three. I'd
rather be let me ask you this, mister, smart, smart,
smart Alec. Would you rather be five and three in
the super Bowl or four and oh, four and oh
any day? No, not me. I don't need to I

(54:37):
don't need to go eight times. If you told me
I was perfect and I was four and oh, I
would love it. Four and oh is great? All right,
it is. Tom Brady's still good enough to lead the
Patriots to the super Bowl. No way, No, don't continue
the conversation with you. So hit us up eight seven

heard of Burro Lives obviously, but whatever year. The one
that I still watched The Grinch if it comes on,

(55:43):
like you still watch CBS, like if if I catch it,
if I th voice? Yeah man. The song I could
watch was the one with the Heat Miser. Yes, a
year without a Santa Claus. That's Booth. I think I
could watch that again. Yeah, Shirley Booth is the one
voices it over. No, no, no, that's not that with

(56:06):
the heat Miser. He wouldn't know anything about that. The
heat Miser is is uh a year without a Santa Claus.
H I thought that was the name of the heater
in front of y'all. Y'all all right, eight seven seven
ninety nine on Foxes the telephone number. All right, you
guys been waiting patiently, so we're gonna get right to you.

(56:27):
Let us start with Nick and wyoming. Nick, you're on
with Chris and Rob? How you doing doing good? How
are you guys? Hey man, you guys have a great show.
I'm calling to jump on the Chris bandwagon. I totally
agree with you about Tom Brady. I think, given a
single game to win, how could you choose anybody else?

(56:48):
And to argue against your point, Rob, he he is
five and three in Super Bowls, but that also means
he's been to more Super Bowls than anybody, so other
people are losing before he does. Yeah, but why don't
we ever talk about that? Because do you think that
Marv Levy's the greatest coach in the NFL history? I'm
asking Nick, Nick, is Marv Levy the greatest coach in

(57:11):
the history of the NFL? No, I don't think why
he went to four straight Super bowl n The four
straight isn't the most a coach has been to and
in the row it is Nicky went the four didn't
That doesn't move you. Brady has won more than he Nicks.
Does that move you? Four straight? It's impressive because he

(57:32):
didn't do total, he added more. When you talk about
his other teams, which we're just talking about Patriot, right,
don't fall into Robs all right? Nick bringing apples and
oranges apples to an orange party? Hey, Rick and fort Lauderdale,
you're on the odd couple of Fox Sports Radio. What's up? Rick?

(57:53):
What's up? Fellers? First of all, let me ask you this,
are you personal friends with Rob oh? I don't know
where did you just even text from Rob Parker? I'm
dying up here? Rick Corley and call no I go here? Rick.
First of all, those three things that you said, those
were classics. The heat, misery, rude off fan. I remember

(58:13):
that growing up. I'm fifty five. I could still watch
it to this day. Absolutely, the Drummer Boy too. Yeah, yeah,
oh yes, okay. First of all, Chris, you you mocked
Robin I two months ago when we try to tell
you that New England wasn't going to the super Bowl
and that they had at least one more lost in
him and it was right here in South Beach, and
you mocked us because this has been Brady's house of horror.

(58:35):
You remember when you called called it. I didn't think
they were gonna run the table the rest of the season.
I knew they were gonna losing. You mocked Robert and
I when we said they were gonna lose here in Miami.
That's number one, number two in that game on Sunday
that you like to brag about Brady. Okay, he had
no purse right off, I'm our d line for three quarters,

(58:56):
our defense dropped three potential interceptions are us corner Jap Howard.
We'll go to the Pro Bowl without Rick. My boys
got lucky. You got nervous. They want bragging. We'll have
some flukeish flukeish play to win the game. You shouldn't

(59:18):
even want to claim that. Man. That's like if I
shoot a jumper and I don't call bank, I don't
even want it. I better call bank when it banks
off the backboard. You don't want that recalling up here
bragging about win. It wasn't a fluke, all right, Freddy
and Seattle. Welcome to the eye couple, Christ and Rob.
I love you, guys, first and foremost, thank you, buds

(59:40):
to the show all the time. You guys make me
feel good about being a black man. Yeah, Rob as ahead,
that's right. How could you say that? Gonna be like that? Man,
he's a truth teller. Go ahead from you. Come good
of that? Skip Bayless s them in you you know

(01:00:02):
a point to Collins warn me, who played I Believe
to the age of forty four and also made the
Pool Bowl at forty one. He was VPS of that
same Pool Bowl at the age of forty one. I
don't believe Brady is true. All right, that's a great pay.
I wish I wish they would have let warm Moon
played straight out of college and not go to uh

(01:00:25):
the CFL, where he played a long time. Hey, Bill
in California, you're on the odd couple Fox Sports Radio.
What's up? Bill? Hey? How are you doing? Guys? I
love you guys to listen to you guys every day.
Will thank you man. That's nice. Hey, no problem. I'm
not trying to play both sides, but I amn't gonna
stay here. Tom Brady is the greatest foot all time.

(01:00:45):
You can't argue with that. The man's more and more
Super Bowls individually than the team the Steelers has so
I mean, the guy is not Steelers. Steelers have six,
but but we got he's got Yeah, he's got five.
He's trying to catch him this year. A lot of
man he will as an individual, But I'm telling you

(01:01:06):
no difference than the greatest guys that you had in
Montana and those guys Father time catches you. His statistics
this year are worse than they've ever been. If they
lose this weekend to Pittsburgh, Bill will be the first
time in over a decade that they've lost five games
in one season. They purg I'm ready for going to

(01:01:29):
lose to Pittsburgh. Here's the question, Bill, are they Is
he still good enough to lead them to the super Bowl?
I don't believe so, because he doesn't have enough of
a team around him. Before a couple of years ago,
the team around him didn't matter because he was that good.
He's not that good anymore. Right, He's sliding backwards. He

(01:01:52):
needs his team to step up, and they don't really
have that. They don't have enough defense. They got a
good running back now, but can he stay healthy. There's
a lot of questions on the team itself, and you
can't just carry him on his shoulders. Like he used to.
Because father time is catching him. We will see. Well.
Thank you for the call, Bill, appreciate it, and thanks
for the support. Keep listening. Let's go to Jeff En Richmond. Jeff,

(01:02:14):
you're on with the Eye couple. How you doing, guys.
I gotta I gotta totally agree with you here, Chris listen.
Belichick will pull out some players none of us have
ever seen. We say it every year, where did Belichick
get these guys? If they're surprises, other teams don't know
how to play them, and all of a sudden, the

(01:02:35):
Patriots search through again. They do it every single year.
They surprise the heck out of us and Brady he
come up. Look what Peyton Manning did. And by five
years younger, Peyton Manning was terrible in that Super Bowl?
You Kidning? He and Brad is nowhere. They had a
great defense that won that Super Bowl. They have nothing

(01:02:55):
to do with Peyton, but by Brady anywhere years bad,
no pay Manning was finished. I don't look. I agree
he's slipping a little, but my point is he's still
good enough to lead this team to the Super Bowl.
The Sean and Texas. You're on the Yard Couple, of
Shaw to shame. I'm sorry to share on Texas. You're

(01:03:15):
on the old couple of Fox sports radios. How y'all doing? Okay? Rob?
Rob Park? Yes? Who point the AFC is gonna beat
Tom Brady? U let me Chiefs Pittsburgh? Who anybody? They
will not get to the Super Bowl? Bill stop? Would

(01:03:38):
you stop? Rob? Rob? But you are numbers? Got you
all about wins and losses? Yeah, that's all, that's all.
If that's all it's about. Tom Brady is nine and four?
And what about the Chargers are or nine are or
what are they? Tenanted? Three? Chargers are ten and three? Uh,
the Chiefs are eleven and two. There are a lot

(01:03:59):
of teams that are better. I don't see the favor
I would pick the trust, I would pick the chalk.
I picked the Chargers or Chiefs over the Patriots this year.
So you trust Philip Rivers? Yep? Because Tom Brady's gonna
throw two picks in the playoff game and they lose
on the road. You know why I trust Philip Rivers
the Shade, because trust in Tom Brady wouldn't fit the narrative.

(01:04:21):
What you know that the Shade don't do me like that? Man,
don't do don't do me like that. I've been watching
you since Cold Pizza. You and we go back. You're
wrong and you still Wronger Bowl. That's what's up, though.
I'm glad you watched this way back in the old days,
way back when it was on his seven am Eastern

(01:04:43):
four AM Pacific would I would be on the West
coast at times, and you were doing it, doing it
after like a Spurs Lakers playoff game at four thirty
in was great right in the midtown Manhattan, right in
the city. Well, I mean studio, I'm saying right right,
studio was down. But yeah, right across from the garden,
all right, Yahoo Sports NBA columnists Vince that's right. Rob

(01:05:08):
Parker's relative says the Lebron Wade era was a disappointment,
just not in the way you think. That's next. But first,
let's bring back in Dab Carson for what is trending. Well, guys,
Rob's quarterback Philip rivers through an interception. Look at you,
She's like, oh wow, pouring it on. No, Stephen Nelson

(01:05:30):
with a pick. Kansas City set up, and Nelson, of
course set up the first drive for the Chiefs. They
are all the way down inside the red zone. Now
Patrick Mahomes has them down there. Chargers and Chiefs right now, scoreless,
still thirty nine to go in the first quarter. Chiefs
can clinch the AFC West in a first round by
with a win, while the Chargers can clinch a playoff

(01:05:50):
berth with a win. In other NFL news, a CT
scan on the back of Eagles quarterback Carson Wentz revealed
a fracture to vertebrae. Won't need surgery, but he will
need rest. So it'll be Nick Foles starting for Philly
Sunday against the Rams. In NHL Action, Thursday's Discover Card
key matchup is the Toronto Maple Leaves taking on the
Tampa Bay Lightning. By the way, the Chiefs just scored.

(01:06:11):
I'll keep you posted on that in a moment, but
in that Leaps Lightning game on the ice one apiece
at the first intermission. Speaking of matchups, become a new
Card member and Discover Card will match all the cash
back you've earned dollar for dollar at the end of
your first year. Light Night in the NBA one game
is underway. Rockets out to a nineteen eighteen lead over
the visiting Lakers, four thirty nine to go in the
first quarter, and it looks like that touchdown is going

(01:06:34):
to stand extra point pending. So again the Chiefs, provided
they make the kick, will be up seven nothing. All right, dab,
thank you very much. You bet it's the eye couple
of Chris Brussar and Rob part me. Look at that. Hey,
you can't stand the heat, you know, get out the
kids just right. That's right. We are coming to you
live from the Guy Coo Fox Sports Radio Studios. It's

(01:06:57):
easy to say fifteen percent or more car insurance with Geico.
Go to Geico dot com or call eight hundred nine
four seven a U t O. The only hard part
is figuring out which way is easier. And Pat Mahomes
robbed to your dismay and then to my dist you
think I can't No, I just said I picked. I

(01:07:20):
just told you what I picked. I told you would
be very difficult, almost impossible to win the MVP when
you have five turnovers, almost impossible. Brothers two picks tonight,
What do he throws the two or three picks tonight?
S five or six and touchdowns? Which is very likely
the dude is bad man. Whatever, All right, let's bring
in Rob Parker's ex nephew, Vincing Goodwill from Yahoo Sports,

(01:07:46):
a senior NBA writer. You can follow him on Twitter
a Vince Goodwill Vice. What's up man? How you doing?
This is Chris? Hey, Chris, how you doing man? A
long time big fan. Man. It ain't one comedian y'all
uh doing what you were doing in the early part
of the decades, man, So people like me we're looking up.
So y'all'll know about Rob. Look at that. Wo Well,

(01:08:07):
thank you, Vince. You're doing great job. You're still family
even with a divorce, so you can't divorce me. Rob.
Don't don't. Don't say stuff like that in front of company.
We were related the Offense's a lot going on in
the NBA, so let's get right to it. Then you
wrote the column recently about how you were you had

(01:08:31):
a disappointment about the Lebron Wade tandem, and kind of
explain what what disappointed you about that. I would't say
it was a disappointment, Chris, but but you know when
they when they trained together, and I don't even say
that we were robbed because the heat and cast were
never great at the same time. They never cost passing
the playoffs, and I wanted to see that's competitive as

(01:08:54):
these two guys weren't as strong as that friendship was.
I wanted to see that friendship tested in the playoffs
series with a trip to the NBA Finals on the lot,
and we never really got a chance to see those
two guys at the height of their game playing for
something really really important. That that thinking sort of strange
friendships and relationship we've seen that, you know, throughout the

(01:09:15):
course of NDIA history. And I'm not a calling for
beef or anything like that. I'm just saying that way
Lebron chapter has or a book writer has a missing chapter.
And because we never got to see those guys playing
against each other in the playoffs, I think that we
would have been better for that. Like like Magic and Isaiah,
and there there did strain their relationship, but like that

(01:09:36):
that was the first, that was the beginning. Like what
isaiahian to tell me is it was all good when
I really wasn't competing. Now I go, I'm going for
your title. What you got? Now they had beef with
each other, so you right, no, but I know it's
now I will say this, I don't I don't think

(01:09:59):
that it would have caused that, but who knows, maybe
it would have, and but you're right, it would have
just been good. Remember it also the Lebron Kobe commercials.
Remember those Nike commercials, because they were trying to drum
up a rivalry. Everybody thought it was a foregone conclusion.
And then Dwight Howard and and uh uh what was

(01:10:21):
the other guy's name? Well, the White then the Big Three.
I mean the few teams got in Lebrons, no, but
but the one that everybody thought they were gone was
a year the Magic beat them. Yea, That's what I
was thinking. Yeah, so that Oh yeah, so Lebron never
his rival has been Kevin Durant, not not those other guys. So, Vinny,

(01:10:42):
what about the Chicago Bulls. You know you guys had
to store you and Chris Haynes about the turmoil about
the potential mutiny with the Bulls. Give us some insight
on that. I mean, you both of you guys have
f on the beat, covering the league and covering teams,
so you know what it's like when a coach comes
in and he tries to do things a little bit

(01:11:03):
differently or more so a lot of extreme measures and
extreme tactics, and one of the things that's basically been
throughout the course of NBA history, at least modern if
day NBA history, teams don't practice after back to backs
and interim coach or not interim coach Jim Boylan called
for a practice after a back to back and his
first Meeta's head coach, because he's been on his staff

(01:11:26):
and he felt like he knew the players and everything else.
He felt like he had to come in and sub
all five guys, like he grabbed Popovich and called for
a practice, you know, on the third day when guys
are supposed to be getting a little bit of rest.
And the players decided to sort of, you know, buck
back against that because they didn't have any of the
recurch John Paxton and golf Phone were clearly you know,

(01:11:46):
in favor of Jim Boylan and backing him after they
fire Fred Hoiberg you know, a little bit over a
week ago, and the players weren't going for that. So
they as far as calling the Players Association and saying, hey,
what recourse do we have, you know, if it's actually
written in the bylaws or that's just something that this
is an unwritten rule and we shouldn't been doing this.
So a couple of team meetings and sued and everything else.

(01:12:07):
And you know, Jim Boylan likes to go back and say,
you know, well back, you know, back Gret and Gret
Popavich's early days. He used to do that and the
player said, look, do it, Dwayne pop Vinny. I get
where you're coming from, but I'm kind of like, look, y'all,
six and twenty two, NA, nobody on this team has
done anything in the league. I just think they out

(01:12:30):
of bounds like this. Dude's trying to make you better.
Clearly what was going on, y'all. Y'all been beaten by
more than fifty points. So I just think it's a
bad look. It's your job. If I'm working a job
and I'm not getting it done, I'm not performing well,
and the boss tightens the screws, so to speak, you
do what you gotta do. That's how I feel about it.

(01:12:52):
I mean, don't get that, but I get that, But
I will say this. They he took over the job
last Monday to all practice that day. They played Tuesday.
They didn't play Wednesday or Thursday, but they hit two
and a half hour practices. There and then they played
Friday on Saturday, and you wonder why your team has
dead legs. Well, hold on, we're talking about a two

(01:13:13):
and a half hour practice. That's nothing. Teams Pratt Riley
was running we just had Eddie House on yesterday. He
was saying, they used to practice three and a half hours.
I mean, I'm just saying like, look, I'm not I'm
not even trying to pick sides, but I'm just saying, like,
from my vantage point, I was like, look, I mean,
y'all players to me, y'all need to do y'all need

(01:13:36):
to If you what's the definition of insanity if doing
the same thing over and over again, it is not working.
And the country club atmosphere that Fred Hoytberg had wasn't working.
And he came in and wanted to look. And I know,
maybe he did some things wrong. I'm not there. You're
there more than me, But I just felt like this
was young players not being able to be coached hard,

(01:13:58):
not being able to handle it. And you know, acause
to some degree, I'll agree with you on you gotta
be able to take some different type of coaching with
what you had ain't work. But you know, two things
I know to be sure, you know what helps you win.
Good players and great players. You look at that Bulls
roster and you're not saying all that team should be
better than they are. You don't look at them play

(01:14:20):
and say, these guys are are performing below expectations. They
don't have those top level players. They've been injured a
lot this year, and no, Fred Horberg ain't that guy.
But if you're a coach and you're pulling those measures,
you better have some pedigree. You better have some winning
behind your blade. Brown does that fine, Red Popovitch today
does that fine. But Jim Boiling your first week is

(01:14:42):
head coach. You don't have the country to sort of
do that with these type of players. Today's players may
back then, but in the world of social media and
cellphones and goop chats and everything those you gotta tread
lightning when you're trying to develop a positive reputation among
players because nobody knows really who you while once you're
taking over, you're just a guy. Now they the Bulls

(01:15:04):
are they with him? Boys, because they're with him at
least what seems like long term right the front office, Well,
the Bulls are with somebody until they're not with them,
like they were supportive of Fred Hoiberg until all of
a sudden they decided to change their mind on a
Sunday night or a Monday morning, like like this is
just what the franchise to. They change coaches and I

(01:15:25):
don't know if there's any real accountability anywhere else. So
that they when they first instilled him as you know,
head coach, they say, yeah, we want him to be
around this year and beyond. But that was before he
went Geen Hasman and horsers. Who knows what this is
going to be at the end of the season when
you're trying to get Zion Williamson and free agents to
come here. Do you think players today's players from this

(01:15:46):
generation are trying to sign up for those two and
a half three hours practice. Man, You ain't winning, y'all.
Millennials stick together for the man of you're writing on
the money on this one man, We appreciate your insights
and your knowledge. Bug, great job and keep up the
good work. Man. I appreciate y'all Like Ebony and Ivory,
like literally y'all right with the odd couple of every

(01:16:09):
single way possible. We are not Oscar and robson feelings.
Would you stop that? All right? Merry Christmas, Happy, happy holidays.

(01:17:16):
Nobody's still been a bomb shop you know that, ain't nobody?
Isn't it? You will talking about whoever it whatever, whatever
you want to in the No, it's shop talk, Yes, sir,
it is shop talk. We do this every Thursday at
this time where we take a segment to take a
look around outside the world of sports, because we have
other interests as you know. And this is one story

(01:17:37):
that went viral this week. Irene O'sheay celebrated a hundred
and second birthday. Two congratulations Society. The best way to
do it was to go skydiving, becoming the oldest person
ever to do so. So had me thinking, guys, what's
one thing on your bucky list that you want to
do before you die? First of all, that woman and

(01:18:00):
that's incredible, That inc and I'm actually surprised that there's
not an age limit to you know, who can sky die.
But that's impressive. I know. What was the best part
about that is that she already had to depend on.
I was waiting to see what Alex was gonna give
that man. You're testing me to see a woman she's

(01:18:22):
one hundred and two years old. It should be all
of Rob c c W laugh. Somebody was driving in
their car. They't laugh, they said wrong, right right, all right,
I'm just saying my bucket list. First of all, we're
blessed in this field. I mean, I've been to the
Major League base game, the World Series, NBA, NBA All

(01:18:45):
Star Games, super like. We've been to all that. So
sports stuff, we've made it pretty much done all that.
But I like to travel. My wife and I we
like to travel. I've been to Africa, been to all
different parts of Europe, obviously Canada. Um. I would like
to go to Asia and I would like to go
to other parts of Africa. I want to go to Ethiopia,

(01:19:07):
especially in Nubia. In Ethiopia, you know they have Ethiopia
is the oldest Christian nation in the world, and it
has over fifteen hundred churches that are built into rock
like the mountains, and a lot of archaeologists say that
should be the eighth Wonder of the World. I like
to go see that. There's also talk that the Ark
of the Covenant is in Ethiopia actually, so I think

(01:19:30):
i'd like to go there. Minus traveling as well. You know,
I'm a world travel I love to travel see stuff.
So I am going to answer one of my scratch
off one of my bucket lists. This come in March
or April when I go on vacation to an Arctica. Wow,
it will make it all seven continents that you've been

(01:19:51):
to all seven. Yeah, that'll be. That'll be. That'll be
my last one. Wow, And I'm really really excited about it.
You get to see the penguins in the whales. You know,
a lot of people say, oh, you went to the
other ones. You shouldn't have, you shouldn't go, But I'm
just close. I want to go. Yeah, to be able
to travel to all of them, I'm oppressed about got

(01:20:11):
quite too, but I'm not. I don't think an article.
But you guys got something quick dab you watch you
on your bucket list. I think because I'm on the
go constantly, I would love to go to Provence, France,
or to the south of France and just stay for
like one week in a villa with a fully stocked
kitchen and maybe a few bottles of wine and just
relax and write and look out at the green grass

(01:20:32):
in the hills. That's beautiful. That's nice. Now, I'm I'm
guessing you've been somewhere where you were able to relax.
Maybe not quite to that degree, but right. Yeah. The
thing is, whenever we've had the opportunity, it's always easier
to just let's book a flight to Kawhi. Let's book
a flight to MAUI, let's go. I went to Bermuda.
You know it's It's usually been somewhere closer than that.
So I'd like to just take some time and be
able to do that. So Rob, gee, what do you got?

(01:20:55):
I want to slam dunk of basketball? Well, like a
real one. Let me go. I'm gonna tell you what
it's like. I'll tell you look at that whatever. Listen
to you, Alex, what about you want to go to
a soccer game at Wembley Stadium and host a New
York like the New York party they do, Ryan Seacrest.
I want to do that one year, the New Year's
Eve party. Okay. He also said he wants to eat

(01:21:19):
a Kobe Beef steak one day. Right, I want to
see Alex eat a steak, No one, that's that's one thing.
I want to Hamburger. I want us to go to
a Dodger game and then having met the big Dodger.
Oh no, now he really you almost made him throw up.
I'll be back all right. It is the Eye couple.

(01:21:41):
Chris Bruce Sorrd and Rob Parker still plenty to talk about,
So keep it locked and we will be back with
you and we're not going in the next Warren Moon
in the next hour. All right, it's the eye couple.

(01:22:04):
It's a good thing. Elijah's not in here. We're not
on pair of scope. He's trying to get my money
up and you throwing money up in the air, you
making rain, And it was all I'm coming to grab
some of those singles all twenties. I'm grabbing the loop.
I just gave you that. He just came out of
Christmas pocket. That's why I was trying to get him back.
I just gave you that money. I'm a generous soul.

(01:22:26):

one of the best to ever throw the football, Warren Moon,

(01:22:48):
coming up at the bottom of the hour, and we're
not gonna stay here, but I gotta go here. Initially,
we were talking about this in the first hour. Pat
Mahomes how great he is is I think he's the
front runner to win the MVP Award and Solda's Las Vegas.
He's already thrown two touchdowns uh nine for fourteen eighty

(01:23:10):
five yards, two touchdowns, no interceptions the first quarter, your
boy Phillips, Philip Rivers, no touchdowns, one interception. Rob, You
got an't comment? What do you do I have as
a game over? Is a game over? You can't comment
comment that you are such a prison of the moment.
Chris was so if this one thing I've learned in

(01:23:32):
the last few months, don't even started doing this radio
show together, is that you everything that happened like an
hour ago was the biggest thing going. You were the
one talking about three games in late October and early
November that Tom Brady had three poor games and you
just you were rady to throw the rest of his
career because that what you're talking about. Prisoner of the moment.

(01:23:54):
You're a prisoner of the moment. That's right, all right,
That's not where I wanted to say. I just wanted
to throw that out to you as an appetite. Okay,
thank you, I'm hungry now. Good. Where I want to
go is Shaquille O'Neill. Shock made some comments this week.
He said his famous Kobe Shock Lakers who won three

(01:24:17):
in a row. You mean the team that the Pistons
two thousand and four Pistons beat. Yeah, because it was
all that turmoil going on, and that's that champ team
to win the championship. And I don't you know what
you need to stop get all those guys? Were they not? No,
they were? Who were they? What teams? I was a
team maybe the you know what, I will give you that.

(01:24:39):
I think the Dallas team that beat the Heat was
worse than well. That means that's why that time that
was his worst. Give the two thousands and they gotta
five give him say, I give him what. It's not
a sweep. It was you you think every five game
series is a sweep. It was a five game I
give him credit. Those guys have hearty, they played together.

(01:25:03):
They were really good teams. I remember the media. You
know what, when the Pitchs won Game one, they got
all right, Okay, they got one. This is the center.
Then then the Lakers won Game two and everybody's like,
oh that's it. The La Lakers are gonna now you know,
run over them. This is it. Then they went to Detroit.
Pitts won the next game, all right, when the Lakers

(01:25:24):
will win the next game, and then we know what happened? Man,
and then the next man, I mean god like that.
That Lakers team was falling apart. On that team. I know,
Malone and Peyton were basically done. H. Peyton was having trouble.
Peyton didn't like playing in the triangle that Phil Jackson
and in that finals. Yeah, Chauncy, I love Chauncy as

(01:25:48):
more power to them, I don't I love them. But anyway,
not that Laker team. The Laker team before in two thousand,
two thousand and one, and two thousand and two partend
clearly two thousand and one where they went sixteen and
one in the playoffs, that was it, fifteen and one
whatever it was. They swept the first three rounds fifteen

(01:26:09):
in one. They swept the first three rounds and then
beat Philadelphia for the team to do sixteen and one. Yes,
because they changed the format, Yes, But anyway, Shock said
that team would crush the Golden State Warriors. These Golden
State Warriors of Steph Kirry, Kevin Durant, Clay Thompson, and
Draymond Green. And it's a tough one, Rob, It's very

(01:26:33):
tough to compare eras. About a month ago, an NBA
player who was a good player, not a Hall of Famer,
but he played in the finals and all that couple
times and played with some Hall of famers, he called
me once a month ago and was like, it's over.
I say, what what you're talking about? It might have
been two months right early in the season. He said,

(01:26:55):
the days of comparing eras are over. You can no
longer compare today's players to when he played, which was
in the nineties for the most part. Like the game
has changed. And that's what I told him. But he was,
you know, like, man, these dudes, they don't post up,

(01:27:17):
they don't play physical. They shoot a ton of threes.
He was like, and you know what else, he said,
before we get to Lakers versus Warriors, He actually said,
and all these coaches, when you take coaches from my era,
he said, when you're gonna take coaches from that played
with me, and I just throw out some of the
names from that era, Mark Jackson, Jason kitt Now this

(01:27:39):
is just his opinion. He said, they're all gonna be
struggle because they're gonna coach the game like we played it,
and like we coach, they're gonna want to you know,
defense and you know, uh mid range shots, no physical
and he said they're gonna struggle. So it's tough to

(01:28:00):
compare it. But you're right, that's what we do. And
so I'm going to say, gonna remember we got three
hours to kill every night, all right, But I'm gonna
say I would take the Shaq Kobe Lakers. I say
it with a little bit of trepidation, but I'm gonna
say I would take the shock came. I don't disagree
with you. I just because for all the greatness that
is the Warriors, who guards or defend Shack? I just

(01:28:23):
that's the answer you can't give me. And I know
you watch Shack on TNT now and he's four hundred
pounds and and you probably go up, was he really
that good? Dude? He was a dominating player for years
in that league and he was unstoppable. Am I right?
He's completely unstoppable for those three finals. I believe he
averaged thirty six and fifteen for the three years. Right,

(01:28:48):
And here's the thing. The Warriors, now they start Damon
Jones in the middle right now, he would get annihilated
by Shaquille O'Neill. But they've been able to get away.
Their death lineup, of course, is Draymond at the center, okay,
and they've been able to get away with that even
when they face seven footers because there are no and

(01:29:09):
I say no, as good as Joel mbiad is and
he's legit, but there are no seven footers that are
going to punish you. Punish you like their word back
in the day. And so I know that analytics guys
from nowadays will say, well, you're gonna trade two for three. Yeah,
Shot gonna get his, but you're gonna trade two for three.

(01:29:31):
We're gonna hit threes and SHOT's gonna get twos. Shock
will put fifty or sixty on you. That's the difference.
Shaquille O'Neill would put fifty or sixty points on those
Golden State Warriors, and that's what the Warriors would have
to deal with. That's what I'm saying. No, I agree

(01:29:52):
with the Draymond Green Garden shock, Damian Damon Jones Garden shock. No, No, No.
JaVale McGee from last You're Andrew Bogett from years ago.
Come on, That's what I'm saying, is like, there's no
answer for him, So you would be hard pressed to
stop Shack. And that's the reason why we give the
Lakers the advantage as well. I just I'm with you.

(01:30:15):
I give a few more reasons. One, Kobe, you know
he's gonna get his And I think because Shock would
be so dominant, you would be able to control the
tempo of the game. It wouldn't be all this just
high flying, flinging it all over the place because you
would control tempo. Now, those Lakers, their athleticism was not

(01:30:35):
up to spar with the Warriors. But also what rules
are we playing? Are we playing where you can't touch
anybody defensively? Or were playing where I could touch you
with one hand? Even if we go back to right,
when the Cavaliers beat the Warriors in twenty sixteen or
twenty fifteen, when they gave him a pretty good series
without Kyrie and Kevin Love, they got physical with the Warriors.

(01:30:59):
Men played the Warriors fairly well in the in the
past couple of years because they would get physical with them.
Those Lakers, Derek Fisher, Garden, Steph Curry, Rick Fox, probably
Garden Durant, Horace Grant, Garden Dreamer. They would get physical, Kobe,
of course, Garden Clay timeson, they would get physical. And

(01:31:20):
when steps running off screens, they're bumping them, they're elbowing them.
Used to be able to do right and you could
slow even now they would do that, and I think
they would get away with it and you could slow
them down. So look, I love these Warriors, and the
fact is this, if these Warriors win like four straight,
five out of six orders, I'm gonna have to give
them props that they arguably the best team of all times.

(01:31:43):
Well if for right now, I would take the shot, Kobe,
I agree with you. Uh, they won the three. It
was a different game. Shock was the most dominant player
in the entire league. It's hard to argue. Uh. Now
you're saying if they win the third, just third in
the role or fourth in the role, then you could
rethink it and take a look at even though you
have to give teams their credit in there because they're

(01:32:05):
only playing once in front of them, they can't change it. Hey,
the Chargers just scored a touchdown, but the one did
you see that catch that he almost made one hand.
Did you see that? That was incredible? He he hit
it with one hand, came down, cradled the ball, bought right,
bounced off his forearm, and then landed on his chest.
I thought that was a good catch, but they but

(01:32:25):
it was a passing affair. Wow. Yeah, that was incredible.
It was good. It was a good I don't know
who who that was, but that was fourteen to seven. Yeah,
fourteen seven. They just scored so uh yeah, eight seven,
seven ninety nine on Fox eight seven, seven nine nine
six sixty three sixty nine. Give us a call if

(01:32:47):

Couple of Chris Brusor and Rob Parker and Rob, did
you ever played a little drummer boy? And then the
Christmas plays when you were a kid? I can see
you being a little drumma boy. That sounds like a compliment.
It is so Joe, No, I didn't. I was in
a I think I was in a Christmas play. You know.
I played tiny Tim, did you? Tom Thum was a

(01:33:32):
tiny Tim Tim, Tiny tiny Tim, wasn't it? Yeah? Tiny
Tim in The Grinch in the screen tiny Tim. I
played tiny Tim a few times. And I played Saint
Francis of as Sissy what back in told? I told
you you were feeling a sissy? Was a town in Italy?

(01:33:53):
For your information? Wasn't that? I was? And that was
a long That was a long played to me for
me to be Saint Francis. That was a long play.
I was a star. You had a lot of lines
in I was a star. I was a Yeah, that's
that was my acting claim to fame. I actually not.
I've been in a movie unlike you. What movie were

(01:34:15):
you in? Hashtag reality high? Really? Yeah? Played yourself? Not myself?
So I played uh, a sportswriter. It wasn't a box office.
It was straight to DVD, was straight to DV rob
trying to hate. It was on Netflix, hashtag reality high.
I have had people tell me I saw you in

(01:34:37):
hashtag reality high. My scene, my scene, guess who would
played across from me? And my scene. Who's that you
saw straight out of Compton? Yes, the guy that was
doctor Dre's brother that got killed. He also was in
the New Edition movie on BT. He played which one
was the tall light skin one? Robbie Robbie whatever his name,

(01:34:59):
Ronnie Ronnie to vote so he would. He's a legit
like big time actor. They say he's the next big
thing that might see. It was a good three minute
stin now. Look, I'm gonna be honest keeping it real.
It was simple because I just played the sports right
I was. I guess I was playing myself. They didn't
use my name, but you know I was a Fox
Sports report. This was just like a year or two ago.

(01:35:22):
And yeah, I got a lot of love. I got
five stars from Broughton Tomato. Yeah, okay, look, wouldn't it
be five Tomatoes stars. I had to get my what
they call it, but again, my actor's card or whatever.
The don't be surprised if you see a brother in
something else, Okay, don't be surprised. I'm letting y'all know,

(01:35:44):
y'all directors, look, I'm I'm I'm I'm open to it.
I'm listening. Yeah, reach out to my people all right, well,
robbed Lakers Warriors, and uh, let me read a few
stats we looked up at on Basketball Reference dot Com.
This was just because all these analytics millennials are like

(01:36:07):
all Stephen and KD can't tell millennials right, they would
be shooting the lights out. Rick Fox gonna guard KD.
Now he would torch Rick Fox, but Rick Fox would
make it tough one him. That's all you can do.
But I give you a few numbers. They on Basketball
Reference dot Com they do the offensive and defensive efficiency

(01:36:29):
ratings for the top players on various teams. Okay, and
during that playoff run in two thousand and one for
Shaquille O'Neal, his offensive efficiency was one thirteen, which is incredible.
What what's like to give me your like, like a
good mark with Well, one thirteen is no, but what's sixteen?
I believe one sixteen for a team? The all time

(01:36:52):
high is one sixteen last year, right, Rob G you
want to weigh in, but that's that's basically okay, just
one thirteen without making it too confusing, right, one sixteen
is out? Kay? Is all time great? That's what I
want to just get a gauge like Okay, So Shack
was one thirteen and defensively he was ninety six, which

(01:37:13):
is phenomenal. Okay, right now, I believe Oklahoma City's leading
the league with the defensive rating of about ninety nine,
so that so Shack was incredible offensively and defensively. Kobe
was even better offensively one sixteen. Defensively he was ninety nine,
so he was spectacular both of both ends. Now, Kevin

(01:37:35):
Durant and Steph the two top players for the Warriors.
Durant was lights out, as you know, we all know,
one nineteen, don't doubt it, in the finals last year. Okay,
so that's that's the best, but only one oh four defensively,
which is good but not quite as good as the Lakers.
So that kind of evens out with what Shack and
Kobe did. Steph though, one twelve offensively, which is really

(01:38:00):
good and one oh three defensively. So if you nitpick,
which is what we're doing when you compare all time
great players and teams, that gives a slight advantage at
least with the top two stars to Shock and Kobe,
and look, Shock would be an incredible mismatch, and Kevin
Durant would be an incredible mismatch for the Lakers, but

(01:38:23):
Shock even more so. And here's the thing. We can
talk about the three ball. And granted, the Warriors are
the best three point shooting team in history, but the
Warriors aren't like the Rockets. They're not just running out
there throwing up three pointers all the time. They are
second in the league right now in mid range jump shots.
So if you think the Warriors are gonna go out

(01:38:45):
there and shoot forty three pointers, that's not gonna be
the That's not where they are right. They get a
lot of backdoor layups, they get a lot of mid
range baskets, and guess who would be there to contest
all that stuff? They get into paint shock fool there,
it is, shock fool there, it is. That's why so
I'm going with Shack and Kobe, but I got love
for these Warriors. Let's uh eight seven seven ninety nine

(01:39:08):
on Fox eight seven seven nine nine six sixty three
sixty nine. Thomas in California, Welcome to the odd couple.
What's going on, fellas? Thanks for having me again. I'm good,
Thank you. So I just want to say, you know,
the Warriors, I respect them. They play hard, they should

(01:39:28):
have better than anybody, but that Shaquille O'Neil, Kobe Bryant combination,
along with Phil Jackson and all the role players they had.
I think it would be a six game series in
the Lakers' favorite just because Kobe with the throw was
the truth shack. You can't guard him, and when he
was in shape after Kobe got on him, hey look
out fifteen to one against better talent and better teams.

(01:39:50):
I think they would, they would get it, and it
would it would be a pretty entertaining series though. No,
they were, they were spectacular. You're right, and uh, I
think a really great question as well, is the shot
Kobe Lakers against the Showtime Lakers. That would really be something.
Let me think, Remember Kareem wasn't in his prime for
probably the second half of Showtime. Now, he still could score.

(01:40:14):
He still could score because that sky hook. He has
no respect. No, I'm not even gonna let people know
what our producer, who's he a millennial and he's a
Laker fan, but he he don't know, but he don't know.
He just doesn't anything he didn't see on VCR on
a on a VCR. He's not into it. He was
probably after VCRs. Did you have a VCR in your life?

(01:40:36):
Did you ever have a VCR? A VCR? Most people
don't even know what that is, Walkman, You remember Walkman's Yes,
I remember dial up internet too, Yes, with the dial
all that noise. Yeah yeah, yeah, yeah, it was so
slow too. And I know what a coupler is. No,
you don't do You only know that because we had
to use him when I first started here. Really, yes,

(01:41:00):
wow Man? But Showtime Lakers that'd be I mean, I
think generally that team was better, but I think across
it was better. Right, But Shack and Kobe were best duo,
you know what I mean? If you want to take
two Shack and Kobe because they both were in their primes.

(01:41:22):
And if you took two players, say any two players
from from the uh Showtime Lakers or Shack and Kobe,
I might take. Don't but I would take them. Oh
you take and Kobe over Kareem and Magic, right, or
Magic and Worthy or Kareem and Work exactly, you know
what I mean? Like that? But I wouldn't. But I
would take Showtime as a team, yeah, over Shack and

(01:41:45):
Kobe's team. The interesting thing, too, is because people when
you compare eras they look, they want to look back
and say, oh, well, Jordans only shot thirty two percent
from the three point line, or even heck, even Kobe,
you can say only shot whatever from the three point line.
Shock never shot threes. They would have adjusted as these

(01:42:06):
Warriors would have adjusted. These Warriors would have been tougher,
like physically tougher twenty years ago than they are now,
because otherwise they would not have survived in the league.
And you remember, right when Shaquille O'Neil first came into
the league, he was athletic. I mean, like the first
several years he was in the league. He could run

(01:42:27):
the floor. He can handle the ball a lot because
Jess just not what you did back then. But occasionally
he would do it almost kind of in a fun way,
you know, but get the rebound and dribble all the
way up court. But Shock would be if he played nowadays,
he'd be able to shoot threes. I got a funny
story about Shock. You know, I played ball at Shack's

(01:42:51):
house with him in Orlando. He's got a full No,
I'm just I'm just I'm a reporter. I'm just telling
you what happened. I'm just telling the facts. He had
a Miami court, Miami heat court in his house, full court,
and I was there for an event and so were playing.
We played full court basketball and I'm eating shock up,

(01:43:11):
I'm getting my stuff off. Look at you. No, No,
we were playing, but you know it's close game and
he's playing around with us. He blocked my shot several
times and all that. He comes down and for the
game winner. There's a little stuff with his dribble, little
frizzy dribbling and drains are three. I think it was

(01:43:31):
on me too. I was near there something. Yeah, I
was close enough. He drained the three for the game winner.
So shock. I mean, I'm not comparing that to the
NBA play. But you remember he was an athletic guy
that in this day and age you would have adjusted
and been could have been playing well on the perimeter.
One thing you talked about, I know you've seen it

(01:43:51):
because you covered the pistons a lot during the run.
But Rashid Wallace was most unbelievable guy when shooting threes
in practice and he you know, he was a He
had that in the game too. He used to shoot
two balls at the same time in practice. In practice
and nail him like, yeah, so one left hand and

(01:44:14):
one right hand at the same time, did he ever
shoot him? He was right hand right, but lefties in
the game he was a He was a really good
three point And that's why again the bigs back then
could have adjusted. Now, would Shock have been as dominant
on the post because he would have focused too much
on the part? I don't know nowadays, Unfortunately, I just can't.

(01:44:37):
Joel MBI could really he plays in the post something,
but could be even more dominant. But he's on the
perimeter a lot too. So it's it's it's uh. And
it's always interesting to compare errors, but I would go
with the Shock. People will always compare errors no matter
what you got. That's that's I mean, that's part of
the fun. I mean really, So warn Moose says there's

(01:45:01):
a deterioration coming for Tom Brady and they'll tell you
why next. But first let's bring in Deb Carson for
the latest in sports debt. Well, gentlemen, the first quarter
at Arrowhead was all Chiefs. They were up fourteen nothing
over the Chargers. Second quarter Nap looking left, still looking
leaf now throwing leaf has Mike Williams Chumps catches touchdown

(01:45:22):
Chargers as our smith, our friend Matt money Smith on
the Chargers radio network. Chargers are on the board. Chiefs
though still in control, fourteen seven lead for Kansas City
a minute to go second quarter there at Arrowhead. Another
NFL news, a ct scam on the back of Eagles
quarterback Carson Wentz revealed a fractured vertebrae. He won't need surgery,
he will need rest, however, so it'll be Nick Foles

(01:45:44):
starting for Philly's Sunday against the Rams. NBA action currently
underway Lakers at the Rockets halftime in Houston. Rockets up
sixty two to fifty six over LA and the Spurs
have from fifty seven forty six home lead over the
Clippers two forty eight two go second quarter. Moving to
college football news, you know, we know that Kyler Murray

(01:46:05):
had said that he planned on playing baseball, but Oklahoma
today submitted a request for an NFL draft evaluation to
the College Advisory Committee on behalf of the Heisman winning quarterback.
So we'll take a look at that. And also, basically,
if I'm the A's I want my money back. Gave
him five million dollars exactly, And he may still end

(01:46:26):
up going in that way. You know that that would
be our advice, I think, since we know the guaranteed
contract structure in Major League Baseball versus in football. But yeah,
I mean I think it's a better it's a smarter
decision to play baseball. Close. But I got for myself selfishly,
I hope he goes to the NFL. I don't. I
think I would love to see him play baseball. He'll

(01:46:49):
have a long night of real I mean, there would
be more fame for him, I would think, especially initially
in the NFL, but he has more of a chance
for a long term career and more money in Major
League base It is he is good in baseball. The
only he didn't light it up in Oklahoma. No, but
they gave him. Trust me, when you drafted tenth and
they give you know how difficult it is, No, it's hard.

(01:47:10):
It's hard to I just mean, you had you so
many young prodecs, the hit that don't pan out. Ye,
And it's tough in football too, especially as a quarterback.
How many times and the sweet role in the NFL,
the average careers four and a half year. Well, he's
gonna be more than that though. Yeah. Well, speaking of
Major League Baseball, the Dodgers have a new setup man

(01:47:32):
for Kenley Jansen. LA signed right handed reliever Joe Kelly
to a three year, twenty five million dollars. They needed
helping a bullpen, they do, and they know him well
because obviously they faced him in all five World Series
games when he was playing for the Red Sox against
the Dodgers. Didn't allow a run, struck out ten in
six innings. So Joe Kelly now the setup man for
Kenley Jansen in the Blue All right, thank you. It's

(01:47:55):
a couple of Chris Brusard and Rob Parker. We're coming
you live from the Guy Coo fox Board its radio studios.
It's easy to say fifteen percent or more in your
car insurance with Geico. Go to Geico dot com or
call eight hundred nine four seven Auto. The only hard
part is figuring out which way is easier. Now it's
time to bring in the guests we've been telling you
about all show long. It's none other than Hall of

(01:48:18):
Fame quarterback Warren Moon. You can follow him on Twitter
at w Moon one, w Moon one Warren Welcome to
the Eye couple. How you doing. What's up? I'm doing great, guys.
Congratulations on your new show. Thank you so much. We
appreciate it. Rob, You're as bitter as always. Hey, Warren,

(01:48:40):
something's never change you don't. Consistency is what keeps you going,
no doubt. Well, I tell you I appreciate Thank you
and Warren. He was so overjoyed by your comments about
Time Brady. He was literally dancing in the studio. I
didn't say anything to rocketor that. See. That's what I

(01:49:00):
want to ask you, because I look, I think anybody
that's gonna be honest is gonna agree with you that, Yes,
there is deterioration in Tom Brady this year from last year.
But my question to you is is there too much
deterioration for him to lead the New England to the
super Bowl. No, I don't think that. I think he's

(01:49:22):
still playing good enough to to lead them to the
super Bowl, but he he might need some more help
more than usual. They can't just use his arm to
carry him all the way there like he did last
year in an MVP season. But I think this year,
with say Michelle and some of the running game that
they have, I think that's gonna give him a little
bit more of a balance where he doesn't have to
carry the football team each and every week. Yeah, that's

(01:49:45):
the big part. I just I look at it the
same way that the defense isn't that great as other
issues and Brady's just if you look at his numbers,
everybody was ripping Aaron Rodgers what a bad year is having.
Aaron Rodgers has more touchdowns and less than receptions in Brady.
But everybody said Aaron Rodgers is having no But I'm
just saying I'm talking about the quarterback numbers, you know

(01:50:07):
what I mean? Warren, Yeah, is different standard for different guys.
There is a different standard, and I think a lot
of people are are comparing what he did last year
when he won the MVP compared to where he is
right now, and then how he's handling certain situations, you know,
going against the Blitz things like that, where he's always
had a lot of success, now starting not to have
as much success against those situations. Some of that has

(01:50:29):
to do with personnel, but some of it has to
do with I think your body just sometimes doesn't react
the way your mind wants it too, because you are
starting to get a little bit older, and it's just
it's nothing that he can guard against. It's just something
that happens with time. Your last year, I mean, you
played till you were forty four, your last great year.
You're pro bowler at forty one. What age do you think?

(01:50:53):
I mean, I think these guys he says he wants
to play till forty five, but that just seems virtually possible. Well,
I don't know if it's impossible. It just depends on
the level that he continues to want to play at.
If he sees his skills starting to diminish, does he
still want to stay out there or does he want
to stay at a certain level before he actually leaves
the game. Given everything that he's accomplished in the game,

(01:51:16):
there's no reason for him to keep playing that long.
But you know, for me it was different because I
was still chasing something that I didn't have, where he's
got five of them already and it's been the eighth,
So I think the reason for staying in is a
little bit different. But I just don't think he's gonna
play the forty five either. Like I said that article,
I felt like if he would have won the Super

(01:51:38):
Bowl last year against Philadelphia. He might have retired last year,
leaving with the super Bowl title behind him, his six one,
and he would have been a way ahead of everybody else.
But because of that, I think that's what brought him
back that he didn't win in He had that bitter
taste in his mouth and he wanted to come back
and try it again. You know what, I'm glad you
brought up the number of chances at the super Bowl,

(01:51:59):
and of course the number of wins. I'm always telling people,
I consider Joe Montana the greatest quarterback with the four
and eleven touchdowns, no picks in the Super Bowl, three MVPs,
two game winning touchdowns to win super Bowls. People point
to Brady because he's been to eight, but he's lost
three times, twice to Eli Manning and once to a

(01:52:22):
backup quarterback in Nick Foles. Would you rather be if
you had either won four and oh being perfect, or
it's five and three. That that much of a difference
to you by going to more even though you lost three. Well,
you know, Joe Montana was my goat up until a
couple of years ago when Tom brought him back from
with twenty twenty five points back in the Super Bowl

(01:52:43):
and won that. I mean when Atlanta showed Warring, I
mean that game, whatever happens, run back and they won
the game, and that kind of caltapulted him, you know,
over Joe to me because it was his fifth winn
and the way he did it really was impressive because
they did come back from twenty five points. But yeah,
what Joe did as impressive, and nobody, ell think will

(01:53:05):
ever do what he's done, because nobody's even close to
that right now. So you still have to put Joe
up there and at least one A if not, if
not one B. It's the Eye couple Chris Bussard and
Rob Parkerwood, joined by Hall of Fame quarterback Warren Moon. Warren.
Rob mentioned Aaron Rodgers earlier. He's for him, he's having
a down year. What do you see when you watch him?

(01:53:28):
Does he look as sharp as normal off year or
do you think there's some decline even in Aaron Rodgers? Now, No,
I don't think there's any decline. You gotta remember he uh,
I forgot exactly what he did to his knee, but
I'm sure he stretched some ligaments or whatever early in
the seas and he played with that pretty much for

(01:53:49):
the next five or six weeks before he got to
his bye week and had a chance to maybe heal up,
you know, all the way. And I still don't know
if he's one hundred percent. I know he's not wearing
the brace anymore, but he still played relatively good throughout
that period with a bad knee. So that was very,
very impressive. But I think a lot of people were
judging him on his season because of not playing as

(01:54:11):
well as he normally did. But you got to remember
why he wasn't playing that way, because he was playing
basically on a leg and a half and still did
a pretty good job without a running game at that time, Warren,
who do you like out of the young new quarterbacks
in the league? Obviously, this is Patrick Mahomes second year,
didn't play really played that much his first year. He's
lightning it up. What he got forty three touchdown? Noah,

(01:54:35):
because he's got two more tonight. Um, what do you
think of him? And who else do you like as
far the young guys? God, he's obviously you know right
up there. I knew he had great ability coming out
of college. I watched him play a lot to Texas
Tech I just was wondering, as he would, you know,
make some of the same mistakes that he made in college,
like throwing the ball up for grabs, And he's done

(01:54:56):
a little bit of that in the NFL, but not
as much and and really been impressive in his first year.
So he's the guy that I really look at. You know,
as you look around the league, you know, some of
these young guys who came in, not as impressed with
them so far. I think Baker Mayfield is starting to
play better since they've made the coaching change. I think
they're starting to not make him throw the ball as much.

(01:55:17):
You look at his attempts somewhere around twenty two to
twenty five a game, so he's being more efficient, not
having to put it all on his shoulders. And they're
relying more on Nick Chubb in the running game in
their defense to win football games. And there was a
new confidence there in Cleveland. So those are two guys
that just came into the league that are a really
good quarterback. So there's a lot of other ones around

(01:55:40):
the league, but I think those two right now are
two of the more impressive ones because one is in
his second year and one as a rookie we have
about thirty second left war. We had another debate if
if you if you had to pick between the two
quarterbacks you would want your career, Tomira, would it be
Philip Rivers who's had really good, consistent years for a

(01:56:01):
long time, or Eli Manning who hasn't had really good
regular seasons but one two super bowls, beat the Patriots twice,
the eighteen and old Patriots. Which one would you choose
if you had a choice between Philip Rivers being Philip
Rivers or Eli Manning man That's a that's a tough comparison.
You gave me right there, because I love Philip Rivers.
I've loved him for a long time. He's a great quarterback,

(01:56:24):
and he's been so productive and just hasn't had the
total team around him. He's been doing AFC Championship game
and even in that game, I think he had a
torn musther torn ligament in his knee and still played
in the game. And Ladaien Thomas and missed that game
as well. But you know, Eli, you just can't you
play this game to win championships. And Eli has two

(01:56:46):
Super Bowls, So I'd have to say that because that's
why you play the game of football, that's why you
play a team sport to win a championship, and he's
got two of them. Is he a Hall of Famer? One? Yeah, Eli,
I think because of the two championships, you'd have to
say that. You know, if you looked at everything else,
it would be it would be no way. But if
because of those championships, so much has weighed on that.

(01:57:09):
Today everybody looks at how many Super Bowls do you have,
especially with quarterbacks. That's how you judged a lot, and
he's got two, so you'd have to say he's a
Hall of Famer. All all right, Warren, thank you so much.
All Right, guys, thanks for having me on. A good
luck with the rest of the show. Happy holidays, holidays

Right It see a couple Chris and Rob and Rob.
There have been some tremendous performances on the road in

(01:59:03):
the NBA and the NFL for that matter, this year,
But not many better than what Kyle Lowry did last
night in Oakland to the Golden State Warriors. Kyle slows
it down, trying to work on Bell, gets into Laye,
gotta step on him upfa over his shoulder, and finishes
off class plus the foul and a three point opportunity

(01:59:25):
coming for Kyle Lowry. Kyle Lowry rob led Toronto, as
you know, to a twenty point victory over Golden State
in Oakland with twenty three points, twelve assist, five rebounds,
and as the main guy that guarded Steph Curry, he
held Steph Curry to ten points. Ten points. And they

(01:59:49):
did all of that without their best player, Kawhi Leonard.
I'm just Kyle Lowry is having you know. He was upset,
and I get it. His best friend was Demarred Rosen.
They traded him to San Antonio for Kawhi Leonard. But
Kyle Lowry's having probably or arguably his best season of
his career. Now. Statistically, he's dropped off a little lately.

(02:00:12):
He's down to fourteen points a game, but he's leading
the league for the first time in his career with
ten assists the game, and he's still giving them pretty
stellar defense. Uh, and he looked they got the best
record in the league. This dude is bawling, and his
season salt is very good as well. Why I'm gonna
do that for you? First of all, most of our

(02:00:34):
listeners probably don't even know what you're talking about. I
know you're talking about Lowry season Salt. What man, you
don't know what Lowrys is. I try to give you.
I try to give you the benefit doesn't he doesn't
need me, so he doesn't know what Lowrys is. He
really should know what Lowry's is. Jee, do you know
what about You didn't chuckle at all because it wasn't funny.

(02:00:56):
I heard you use that joke before. Really, you mean
you use that more than once? Did people laugh the
first time? They must have laughed the first time? Did
they laugh when you heard it? I kind of smiled.
I want to call it a laugh because it was corny,
not because it was funny. I try to give you
the benefit of the doubt. Man. You every once in
a while you have a good Meryl streep. I love

(02:01:18):
that one. I'm always trying, um working. I'm working for
your heart, for your entertainment dollar, right, I see. I
can't wait to see you up on stage with our Sineo.
You know what before we get spears whoever it is,

I'm gonna share with the bosses at Fox first. Well,
you better because you you you can be a little

(02:01:40):
off color. Is that the term that you off color?
You know? I don't want you to do that because
I don't want the odd couple to be down to
the show, right right. I need you so don't don't
be going doing anything crazy. And you I know you
because you're like it's comedy, but everybody I might not

(02:02:00):
see it that way. All right. Everyone knows about the
risks of driving drunk. People could get hurt or killed.
You could get arrested, incur huge legal expenses, or even
lose your job. If you think drunk driving is no
big deal, you couldn't be more wrong. Drive sober or
get pulled over. We can't emphasize that anymore than I mean,

(02:02:24):
that is the most important thing, especially around the holiday,
because people might Right now, you got uber left anything
to help cab friends, designated driver, don't get in the
car drunk, don't get drunk, drink a little, don't get drunk,
