Speaker 3 (01:56):
Mary has been doing a good Yeah, he's been.

Speaker 1 (01:58):
Alex has been here the last few weeks. It is
good to have them around. But anyway, yes, no doubt,
what's up?

Speaker 2 (02:04):

Alex knows I got love for himself, and uh, don't you.

Speaker 3 (02:28):
I'm just waiting on the playlist.

Speaker 1 (02:30):
So you look at that. You keep disappointing. You can't
keep disappointing all the time. Sometimes you gotta come through.

Speaker 3 (02:37):
Nah, I come through, Okay, so but yeah, everything is good.

Speaker 4 (02:41):
Let's introduce the Odd Couple crew to super producer Rob
g Is in the house. You just heard DJ Alex
Tyson on the ones and the twes on the updates
are Steve the Seger and on the social media Sagar
Patel in for Elijah Sepbuna.

Speaker 3 (03:02):
All right, Rob, we both thought that Dallas.

Speaker 4 (03:07):
Would win last night and extend this series or not extended,
but keep hope alive, as I guess the best way
to put it.

Speaker 2 (03:15):
They didn't.

Speaker 3 (03:17):
It's over.

Speaker 4 (03:17):
They're down three to zero and the only question now
is will it be a sweep or maybe a gentleman.

Speaker 3 (03:24):
Swear you on the just being three? All you shocked?
Is this shock? I mean I thought they'd win. But
what you mean, so, yeah, I thought?

Speaker 4 (03:34):
I mean shock is not I'm not shocked, but they
I thought I thought Dallas would win.

Speaker 3 (03:41):
Celtics have been impressive, man.

Speaker 4 (03:43):
They played really well and they haven't even shot the
three well. But their defense has been fantastic, you know, and.

Speaker 3 (03:51):
They they were made. They they're really built.

Speaker 4 (03:55):
This is a good matchup for them because the Mavericks
are one or two man team. No one else really
creates offense, and when you got five guys that can
switch everything, then you can defend that that one or
two man team and their guarding Luca and Kyrie one
on one for the most part.

Speaker 3 (04:13):
So good for the Celtics. They are looking great.

Speaker 4 (04:17):
And the big story rob coming out of last night
was Luka Doncic. Now, he did put up his points,
he had twenty seven points, six assists, six rebounds, but
also six fouls and uh, just you know his robbed.
NBA players are notorious for complaining to the referees, but

(04:37):
Luca's on a whole nother level.

Speaker 1 (04:39):
He's ridiculous. It's right, it's a turnoff to watch. I
got admit, he's.

Speaker 3 (04:44):
On another planet when it comes to complain.

Speaker 4 (04:47):
It's just ridiculous and it probably somewhat drains his teammates
a bit. Uh and a lot of times rob And
you saw it last night. While he's on the floor complaining,
I mean laying down on the ground or sitting on
the ground after falling from you know, trying to get
a foul call or just you know, talking to a

(05:08):
ref the actions going the other way and Boston is
scoring while he's complaining or trailing to play late because
he was complaining and so he's got to get better
in that.

Speaker 3 (05:22):
But the question a lot of people were saying.

Speaker 4 (05:25):
Rob was they were blaming him for I guess last
night's lost, but there's even some talk about maybe them
being down three.

Speaker 2 (05:34):
Oh.

Speaker 4 (05:34):
I look, his defense is atrocious and it needs to improve.
It's been some of the worst. There's a statistic from
second Spectrum his blowby rate, you know, for the opponent
blowing by him, is like sixty seven percent robbing this series,
highest ever in the playoffs in the last ten years.

Speaker 3 (05:54):
So his defense is bad and not new. He has
three of the worst Chris and right, three three worst
I think the three all this year or two. So
it's just this is who he is. We know that.

Speaker 1 (06:08):
And uh, it's it's you know, to get to foul
out Chris down by what was he down two or three.

Speaker 3 (06:16):
With uh when he went out it was about four
minutes ago.

Speaker 1 (06:20):
It was like three points, right Chris, three points, I think,
and and uh, you know you let your team down.
You can't do it. You gotta be very careful when
you have five fouls. Chris playing down the stretch that
game was still within reach, obviously four minutes to go,
it's it's bad.

Speaker 5 (06:40):
Really.

Speaker 3 (06:40):
You agree with those who were saying he cost them
the game. I think that he had Uh.

Speaker 1 (06:47):
It doesn't mean that they were gonna win automatically, But
you can't have your best guy out uh for the
last four minutes on something that really was just him
looking for a call, him uh, acting like something was
going on, you know what I mean, Like that's the
part you gotta be real careful and uh, it burnt them.

(07:08):
It burnt Luca, and it burnt the Mavericks. And now
when you're down oh to Chris and you're at home
in game three, you gotta be careful. You got to
understand the circumstance and where you are, you really do
I can't afford to do anything crazy.

Speaker 3 (07:24):
It was odd, and I don't blame the reps. I
blame Luca. But it's shribe, you know it is.

Speaker 4 (07:31):
You almost never see a superstar foul out of a
game a game, forget a playoff game or a finals game,
a game, and so that was odd. He got four
calls in a few minutes in the fourth quarter.

Speaker 3 (07:47):
But I will say this for Luca doncs.

Speaker 4 (07:51):
He's been taking a thorough beating from the media.

Speaker 3 (07:55):
Today well, nothing worth. Brian Wenthorse, my god winwords went
off on him. It happens though.

Speaker 4 (08:02):
Lebron has gone through it, Jason Tatum has gone through it,
and Rob. The NBA finals are a mirror. It's a mirror,
and it reveals to you what is wrong with your game.
It reveals to you that you're not as good as
you thought you were. It reveals to you what you

(08:24):
need to work on and maybe what you need to even.

Speaker 3 (08:28):
Add to your game.

Speaker 4 (08:31):
All right, the Lebron James Rob his first two finals,
he was bad.

Speaker 3 (08:37):
His first finals, he shot in the thirty percent.

Speaker 4 (08:39):
I think it was about thirty five percent against San
Antonio in two thousand and seven, averaged like five turnovers
a game. And then his second finals, of course, was
the meltdown against Dallas.

Speaker 3 (08:53):
He had to look in the mirror.

Speaker 4 (08:55):
He had to do some soul searching and come back
as a better player.

Speaker 3 (09:00):
Rob.

Speaker 4 (09:00):
You know Magic Johnson, Tragic Johnson in nineteen eighty four.
Kareem's getting older now it's a little more on magic
to carry the team. And he melted down in that
series against Boston, even though he had won two championships,
and he had to look in the mirror and deal
with it. All right, how can I get better? Larry Bird,

(09:23):
I've talked about it. Rob eight point game, eight point game,
twelve point game in his first finals out they won,
but still he had to learn from it. I don't
think it happened to Jordan his finals. He was You know,
I'm not saying you can't lose, but when you kind
of are the reason you're losing, or at least you know,

(09:44):
you just don't play close to your best, let me
put it that way. I think though Jordan Rob in
the Eastern Conference finals matchups with Detroit with the Jordan rules,
he did learn like, I've got to get strong. I've
got to get in the weight room, you know, looking

(10:04):
in the mirror and shock. Rob swept in his first
finals and outplayed by kim Olajua. So what Luka Donc
just needs to do is look in the mirror. Don't
blame your teammates, even though you know you could point
to them, but don't do it. Don't blame your teammates,
don't blame the referees. Go into the lab and get

(10:29):
to work. You gotta lose some weight. You've got to
increase your stamina and you've got to improve your effort
on defense. We don't expect you to ever be a
lockdown defender, but you can improve your effort mentally and
physically defensively, because if he doesn't mentally, Rob STEP's not

(10:50):
a great defender, but he's improved because he's learned mentally. Okay,
I'm gonna be where I'm supposed to be. I'm going
to hustle. I'm gonna give effort on this end of
the floor, and that's where Luca needs to get. And
I would even say last thing roped offensively. This is
for the whole Mavericks, Jason Kidd, Nico Harrison, the GM.

Speaker 3 (11:10):
They gotta figure out Rob.

Speaker 4 (11:12):
You know, I've talked a lot about I don't believe
we've ever seen anybody in a helio centric offense win
the championship. Oscar Robertson never won it until he went
with Kareem and it wasn't helio centric anymore. Lebron didn't
win it playing that way. Jordan didn't win it playing
that way. He wanted in a triangle obviously, James Harden

(11:36):
and it just it's one or two man basketballs not
generally gonna beat five man basketball, and so they have
to see if they can figure out a way where
get the other guys involved.

Speaker 3 (11:49):
Rob look at the.

Speaker 4 (11:50):
Other three the last three champions, assuming is Boston this year,
Denver last year, Golden State. All of them have egalitarian
off where everybody's touching the rock, anybody's free to shoot right,
and it's not one or two even though they have
great players, it's not one or two guys creating everything.

(12:10):
So I think those are the things that Luke and
the Mavericks need to work on absolutely.

Speaker 1 (12:15):
And when you talk about defense, Chris, that a lot
of that is effort. You gotta want to play defense.
You gotta want to put in the energy and the
time to realize you don't have to be a stopper.
Nobody's asking to be a defensive Player of the Year,
but there's an effort that has to go into playing defense.
And that's the same thing with rebound. We talk about
all you gotta want the ball, Chris. You gotta want

(12:37):
the ball to play it simple. It's if you go
out it Luke warmly, not Luke Longley, but Luke warmly.

Speaker 3 (12:45):
You're not gonna get it.

Speaker 1 (12:46):
The guy who really wants that ball on the rebound
is going to grab it.

Speaker 3 (12:50):
So that was just I thought it would be a
close game.

Speaker 1 (12:54):
I was surprised, you know, I told you I took
the Celtics plus two and a half, Chris. I thought
that the Mavericks and it was closed right till the
final four one to four minutes right there. So that's
what I thought would happen, and it didn't happen, And
now this could be really ugly and be done and uh,
you know almost You know, writers, Christian, you've covered the finals.

(13:19):
Writers are hoping for a sweet because you don't want
to make a trip back to the next city once
it's over like this, You're like, I can it just
be a sweep?

Speaker 3 (13:26):
Seriously, rob G? You want no.

Speaker 1 (13:28):
You're like you're playing praying because you just don't want
to have to get on a plane the game go
right back to the city just for them to and.

Speaker 3 (13:35):
You know it's over, exactly.

Speaker 4 (13:36):
I remember when the Lakers beat the Pacers, the shot
Kobe Lakers.

Speaker 3 (13:40):
Just like to beat the Hoss.

Speaker 4 (13:42):
Yeah, and it was like three to one, I think
if I remember correctly. Rob G might even remember. And
then Indiana one game maybe game five, and you knew
it was still over. But you had to I think
we went back to La Indy. But yeah, yeah, it
was just you're right, it's over. The suspense is gone,
the drama's gone. I mean, Rob, they would have to

(14:05):
win the next I mean, if they win the next
to sure people might I mean that'll feel like, oh
oh they're at home for Game six, maybe they can
win it. But realistically, Rob, they probably need to win
the next three. Well, we can bring real drama in this,
then put.

Speaker 1 (14:22):
Some let's bring some NBA guys in and they'll tell
us that the pressure now is on Boston.

Speaker 3 (14:27):
That's what they told us.

Speaker 1 (14:28):
Less Well, yeah, pressure, pressure is not on Boston.

Speaker 4 (14:34):
Okay, K seven seven ninety nine on Fox, you're turning
the way in. What's the lesson for Luka Doncics or
maybe are you down on you? Do you think you
know what? He's not as good as I thought? What
are your thoughts on Luca ah couple? Fox Sports Radio.

Hey, We're Covino and Rich Fox Sports Radio. Every day
five to seven pm Eastern.

Speaker 3 (15:06):
But here's the thing.

Speaker 6 (15:07):
We never have enough time to get to everything we
want to get to.

Speaker 7 (15:10):
And that's why we have a brand new podcast called
over Promised. You see, we're having so much fun in
our two hour show. We never get to everything, honestly,
because this guy is over promising things we never have
time for.

Speaker 3 (15:23):
Yeah, you blubber, listen, jamen me.

Speaker 6 (15:24):
Well, you know what it's called over promise. You should
be good at it because you've been over promising women
for years.

Speaker 7 (15:29):
Well, it's a Cavino and Rich after show, and we
want you to be a part of it. We're gonna
be talking sports, of course, but we're also gonna talk
life and relationships. And if Rich and I are arguing
about something or we didn't have enough time, it will
continue on our after show called over Promised.

Speaker 6 (15:42):
Well, if you don't get enough Covino and Rich, make
sure you check out over Promised and also Uncensored by
the way, so maybe we'll go at it even a
little harder. It's gonna be the best after show podcast
of all time.

Speaker 7 (15:53):
There you go, over Promising. Remember you could see on YouTube,
but definitely join us. Listen over Promised with Covino and
Rich on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts or wherever you
get your podcasts.

Speaker 4 (16:05):
All right, it's the Eye Couple live from thee Tire
Rack dot Com Studios eight seven, seven ninety nine on Fox.
You're turned the way in. What can Luca Doncic learn
from these finals? Are you down on him? You think
he's been exposed? What are your thoughts?

Speaker 3 (16:22):
All right?

Speaker 1 (16:23):
And the car attached would say, thank you for being
a That's what Luca leaded last night when he got
a thrown out of the game with six files.

Speaker 3 (16:34):
He needed a friend. All that I don't remember.

Speaker 1 (16:39):
Hold on, Oh wow, you finally got it. After a while,
I'll pick up on it. How about Josh and Idaho Falls.
You're in the Eye Couple of Fox Sports Radio. What's
up Josh?

Speaker 8 (16:50):
Hey guys, second touch bowler?

Speaker 3 (16:53):
What great? Thank you to have you on?

Speaker 8 (16:56):
Yes, no, thank you for taking the call. So it's
all all about the effort. The problem that I have
is I have seen Luca in small times put in
the effort and make stops.

Speaker 5 (17:08):
The problem that I have.

Speaker 8 (17:10):
Is when I was watching these last three games, because
he's iso on offense so much, he gets so tired
he just gases out. And I don't think he don't
get me wrong. I think he's in shape, but he's
not in the type of shape that he's in so
he can play both sides of the court. So many
times they'll swing that ball on the three when they

(17:30):
have the five out and he's he doesn't even put
in the effort to run at the player. He's just standing.
Then I go back and think of Kobe Bryant back
in the Olympics, you know, knocking on Mike she Skessi's door,
you know, weeks before saying I want to guard the
best player.

Speaker 5 (17:47):
On the on the opposite team because I'm going to
shut him.

Speaker 8 (17:50):
Down, right, and we do this and we're going to
win gold. That's the mentality you have to win. To
win in the NBA, you have to have that defenseman
world few will out win championships.

Speaker 4 (18:04):
No, look, he's you gotta go. You gotta play both
ends of the floor. And he's never gonna be as
good as Kobe or Lebron so.

Speaker 3 (18:11):
He doesn't have to be like that, right he does. Right, Yeah,
appreciate the call. Thank you.

Speaker 1 (18:17):
Right, Andrea in Massachusetts, you're on the odd couple of
Fox Sports Radio. What's up, Drea. Are they celebrating in
Boston yet or not yet?

Speaker 9 (18:25):
Cautiously optimistic, you, we can't, we can't, we can't count.

Speaker 3 (18:29):
Our No, just wait, it won't be long, Just wait, right,
But in terms.

Speaker 9 (18:35):
Of Luka doncis, Yeah, I think you know there is
that Jason Kidd. There's a bullseye on him defensively. I
set my hat to Joe Missoula and that staff for
frankly hunting him defensively. But this more goes to the
narrative about Luca and him being the best player.

Speaker 10 (18:49):
On the world.

Speaker 9 (18:50):
We're seeing a distinctive difference between Nikola Jokis, who's much
more stoic okay man a few words and no words
at all. And Luca's always been kind of an emotional player,
but he's let his emotions get the best of him
throughout the series. He hasn't had a great series period
and the story, and some of it has to do
with matchups meeting. Both these teams play a similar style
and just Boston's flat out better at that style. They're deeper,

(19:10):
they're more together than that, they're out maneuvering Dallas. Right,
they were down twenty points before Luca went had his
fouls free, so they put themselves up against the wall
in a game where they should have been up twenty
and after the way they started off. But to Lucas specifically,
this is an indictment that we've seen with these great players,
I e. Devin Bookers a couple of years ago, when

(19:31):
they get on the biggest stage, they fade, They wilter
and rob You know this, I'll keep bringing it up.
You can't guarantee you're gonna get back, Okay.

Speaker 3 (19:38):
Dann's disagree with DeAndre.

Speaker 4 (19:42):
I don't think Luca's will team Devin Booker just started
not playing well offensively, Like.

Speaker 3 (19:49):
What Luca does is offense, and he's doing that.

Speaker 4 (19:52):
I mean he's not putting up you know, thirty one
and ten like he are nine. He basically averaged the seats,
but he's close like twenty nine and nine. I mean,
I don't think he I think there's a difference between losing,
maybe even playing you know, below your standard, and wilting.

Speaker 3 (20:12):
So I don't I don't.

Speaker 4 (20:12):
Think he's wilted, but I think he's just finding out,
you know what, I've got to get better at some
of these other things.

Speaker 1 (20:18):
Dan in Austin, Texas, joined the odd couple of Fox
Sports Radio.

Speaker 3 (20:21):
What's up, Dan, how's it going?

Speaker 10 (20:23):
Tell us?

Speaker 3 (20:24):
Hey, how are you?

Speaker 10 (20:26):
I'm a Mads fan, so going poorly in that regard. Unfortunately,
I feel like Luke, we need to get swept, like
Luca needs to get embarrassed. I don't want to come
back in for six and just you know, say, oh,
if this had gone right and this gun right. I
walked into yesterday ready to blame Kyrie for not showing
up for two straight games. But Luca's immaturity has got

(20:47):
to go. Every Mads fan will tell you it's been
since day one. We've been trying to get him to
shut up about the ref right, stop it already? My god,
this is not new by any stretch of the imagine.
You guys are told he needs to not be a
turnstile on defense. I think the offense will get better.
Remember this team's only been together for four months, so
I think the offense will be better next year. But

(21:09):
he needs therapy or somebody's got again in his ear
that he'll actually listen to, because, like like Wendy said
last night, he hasn't listened to anybody. I have to
imagine Dirk's had to talk with Dirk used to be
a huge whiner and he can't. He can't seem to
get through to him. So I don't know what it is.
I think he'll be in better slit shape because he's
gonna play for Slovenia, but good god, he needs to

(21:30):
cut that out.

Speaker 2 (21:32):
Well.

Speaker 4 (21:32):
One thing Windhorse said this morning was that obviously, publicly
the MAVs are going to support Luken and they should,
but privately, he said, they're probably like the front office,
the executives, the coaching staff, they're probably happy that he
is getting taken to the woods shed by the media
because maybe that'll.

Speaker 3 (21:53):
Wake him up, you know what I mean.

Speaker 4 (21:55):
So and I believe that they're probably like, look, we've
tried to talk to him. The player have tried to
talk to him, the legends have tried to talk to him,
and he's not listening. Maybe the media ripping him the
shreds will make wake him up.

Speaker 1 (22:08):
Let's let's squeeze one more on Chris dre in Michigan.
You're on the couple of Fox Sports Radio. What's up, Dray?

Speaker 11 (22:15):
What's upthing too?

Speaker 5 (22:16):
Dudes? Was going on?

Speaker 11 (22:16):
Fellas you buddy, h not much.

Speaker 5 (22:19):
Man.

Speaker 11 (22:19):
I tried to call last week, so I got to
say it this week. Chris, congratulation on the twenty nine
years brothers having demanded jobs like y'all do. That's very indicative.
That is God love and respect in your life. So
I tell you I appreciate it absolute to my brother
that new radio station. Congratulations brothers.

Speaker 3 (22:38):
Thank you.

Speaker 11 (22:38):
Kelly who who but does that late night?

Speaker 5 (22:40):
You need to give him raise?

Speaker 3 (22:42):
There you go? Yeah, the music.

Speaker 11 (22:46):
The only problem I got is that they call it
classic rap, and I do every word to every song
he was playing. So now I'm classic, right.

Speaker 3 (22:55):
You are?

Speaker 1 (22:56):
But but yeah, yeah, Chris, we play classic hip at
night because we still have some podcasts and stuff to mix.

Speaker 3 (23:04):
That's cool.

Speaker 11 (23:05):
I ever know, since I traded my Timbalism Air air
Force one for Sketches, so that should have been.

Speaker 1 (23:09):
My first Sketchers classic anyway.

Speaker 11 (23:16):
But with Luca Man, he's he's I don't think he's
been exposed. He's what he has always been. I always
called Heim. He's another version of James Harden. He's a
prolific scorer, can handle the ball well, but I don't
think he's a real leader because he doesn't put forth
that effort on defense. He can't call it. Come on, guys,
a lockdown if you're not doing it.

Speaker 3 (23:33):
You know, I think he's You're right, But I think
he's better than Harden in that.

Speaker 4 (23:37):
I mean, we know Harden's one issue is he doesn't
show up in some of the big games. Luca Luca
shows up win or lose. I mean, he generally plays
his game. But yeah, I mean he's gonna have to
learn to play both ends. All right, Antonio Daniels around
the corner.

Speaker 2 (23:52):
But first, Fox Sports Radio has the best sports talk
lineup in the nation. Catch all of our shows at
Foxsports Radio dot Com and within the iHeartRadio app. Search

Speaker 4 (24:04):
All right, it's the couple, Chris and Rob live from
the tire Rack dot com studios. That's right, you hear
the theme music, you know, the NBA Champion, the Series
X of NBA Analyst, the New Orleans Pelicans color Analyst,
Fox Sports Radio NBA Analysts.

Speaker 3 (24:22):
Our man, Antonio Daniels, what's up, brother?

Speaker 5 (24:25):
Hey Chris, Rob? How you guys doing it doing great?

Speaker 3 (24:29):
How are you?

Speaker 10 (24:29):
Bro?

Speaker 3 (24:30):
We are good? We are good.

Speaker 5 (24:31):
We bless yes than.

Speaker 3 (24:33):
The Dallas Mavericks. I'll say that, man.

Speaker 4 (24:38):
I mean I think I think you picked the Celtics, right, Antonio? Okay, boy,
are you surprised that it's three to zero and very
well might end up in a suitep?

Speaker 5 (24:49):
Yes, I am surprised. I mean, not the thinging, I'm
surprised that it's three.

Speaker 9 (24:53):
Oh.

Speaker 5 (24:54):
I thought Dallas would win yesterday. I did think Dallas
would I picked the Celtics to win this. But I
picked Dallas to win yesterday game. And now, man, I'm
not sure they're gonna get one, right, Yeah, I'm not
sure they're gonna get one.

Speaker 1 (25:08):
I'm not convincing you that. What about Luca? What do
you make of that? We know he's a cry baby
on every call, and you know that's his m O.
And he's been doing it and they new. But you
can't with the game on the line and the season
on the line, you can't do what he did?

Speaker 3 (25:25):
Can you?

Speaker 5 (25:27):
Which part? But what I'm saying is is it the
the complaining and the bickering with the officials or is
it the fact that he has to learn to remove
himself from fouling situations when the game is going right?

Speaker 3 (25:40):
That one because of effort.

Speaker 5 (25:44):
So I'm I'm on doing another interview earlier, and the
guy told me, you know what, what is he supposed
to do in the fifth? Found like, just let the
guy go? What is he supposed to do in the sixth?
Fould just let the guy go? And the question that
I asked to him was would that be the first
time in this series if someone is blown by Luca?

Speaker 3 (26:01):
Right? No, No, He's on a historic in that right.

Speaker 5 (26:05):
You have to understand your importance to this team. Now
we can throw defense out the door. We can throw
defense out the door, but leaving Kyrie Irving out there
to contend again that defensive versatility that the Boston Celtics
had wasn't no way They're winning that game. No way.
Cap the kids chose to go with Kim Hardaway Junior

(26:25):
as opposed to Derrick Jones Jr. Down the stretch because
they needed offense. Luca failed his team yesterday. I don't
mind saying that it happens. That's the responsibility that comes
along with being a star player. You know, you're praised
when you're doing great. When you hit to step back
over Rudy Gobert and you're talking your talk, I'm with you,
like you a dog. But on the other side of it,

(26:47):
you have a responsibility to your team to stop leading
them out to dry and creating five on four situations,
four on three situations because you're constantly bickering and talking
to the officials.

Speaker 4 (26:58):
Antonio does that when I know you, you know you
played with Duncan and David Robinson.

Speaker 3 (27:04):
Obviously weren't doing things like that.

Speaker 4 (27:06):
But when your star player does complain that much, and
we know a lot of stars complained, but he's on
a whole other level, does that Can that drain your
teammates or even just make them bother them or whatever.

Speaker 5 (27:20):
Yes, it drains your teammates, It drains your coaching staff,
It drains the media. If you watch the pressor today,
Luca's first three questions were about his interaction with the officials.
Those were his first three questions at the press conference today.
The media availability were about him and the officials. But
it comes to point where and I understand, like it's

(27:44):
all a process of growth, it's all a process of maturity.
I get that. But this is something that has been
talked about since Luca's been here. Jason Kid has come
out and talked about it publicly. Luca told Jared green
Bird in the Oklahoma City City in game four, you
know what, I'm gonna go ahead, leave the officials alone.
And in Game five in Oklahoma City may have been

(28:06):
the best game that Lucas played in the playoffs, he
left the officials alone. At postgame he referenced it, but
then the next game he went right back to it again. Yeah,
it is. It's draining. It's draining as a as a teammate, like, dude,
just hope, just hope. But here's the thing about this.
You can't say those things though, Jason Kidd can't. There's

(28:27):
no consequences for what Luca's doing because in today's player
empowered NBA, that star player has all the power.

Speaker 3 (28:36):
No, that's that's fair.

Speaker 4 (28:37):
Let me ask you this, and we've probably talked about
this before.

Speaker 3 (28:43):
Loop.

Speaker 4 (28:44):
You know, Dallas obviously has a pretty heliocentric offense.

Speaker 3 (28:47):
It gotten there during these playoffs. His usage rate went down.

Speaker 4 (28:51):
Now is right back up during the finals to where
it was like about thirty seven, And we haven't seen
I mean, Jordan didn't win this way. Oscar robertson Lebron
you know, obviously, James Harden do they have are they
gonna have to tweak some things. Luca's gonna do what
he does, but you know what I mean, to just

(29:13):
get that ball move. Look at the last three champions, Boston, Denver,
Golden State, they all kind of play that five man
basketball where everybody's getting touches.

Speaker 5 (29:22):
Here's the thing, like, I'm watching Luca before Kyrie Irving
got there and before Jalen Brunton became Jalen Brunton. Right,
it's very like I so heavy, and it's very like
for me, it's the equivalent to watching James Harden with
the Houston Rockets. It sees everything goes through him when
everything goes through you. The stats her through the roof

(29:45):
right right, thirty point triple doubles, forty point triple doubles,
fifty point triple doubles, and it's great, but that style
of play is not conducd to winning. There's the reason
the Houston Rockets went out and got Chris Paul. There's
the reason the Houston Rockets went out and got Russell
Westbo because they needed someone next to James Harden to
get him off the ball. There's a reason that the

(30:06):
Dallas Maverick went out and got Kyrie Irving because you
have to find a way to get Luke off the ball.
You have to Uh, it is great up to this point.
It's great up to this point. And this is it Like,
here's a bit. I don't want to act like this
is a conversation that started the moment they went down
three the ball, because this is the conversation that we've

(30:27):
been having all year long. No, doesn't win this way?
Can you win this way? Not get to the finals,
not get to the Western Conference finals, but can you
win an NBA championship with this salla basketball?

Speaker 1 (30:38):
But but the thing is a lot of people picked them.
They thought that they it was looking like they, I mean,
why body, not everybody, but a lot of people.

Speaker 3 (30:51):
A lot of people pick You.

Speaker 5 (30:52):
Know why though, you know why because we live in
the culture that is prisoners of the moment. Like if
you look at what the bulls, because people pope tolls
and what Boston did. Boston was twelve and two coming
into this series. They lost two games. They lost two games,
but as opposed to the talking and discussing the dominance

(31:13):
of the Boston Telta, people picked holes in what they did.
Oh but they barely beat Indiana and the Ena should
have won Game one, Indiana should have won Game three,
and they didn't win a game, right people Pope told
and what Boston did. And they're looking at Kyrie Irving
and they're looking at Luca against the team that was
constructed in the Minnesota Timberwolds to beat the Denver Nuggets.

Speaker 3 (31:34):
Well, I was.

Speaker 4 (31:34):
Gonna ask you, like, when you look at these playoffs
is obviously most.

Speaker 3 (31:39):
People thought Denver would win.

Speaker 4 (31:41):
Minnesota looks great against them, then Minnesota is the hot team,
and then Dallas looks Yeah, is this just match up?
Dallas looked great against Minnesota. Now Boston and Dallas can't
play with them like.

Speaker 3 (31:54):
It's just matchups.

Speaker 5 (31:55):
Yes, no question, Because if I'm Dallas, you know what
is great for me is length? Its height. Because now
think about the Minnesota I mean the Minnesota series. They
had so many different guys that they could target to attack.
They could attack like Conley, they could attack Rudy Gobert,

(32:18):
they could attack Karl Anthony Towns. And the one guy
that could defend both of those guys and Kyrie Irving
and Luca is the same guy that the Minnesota Timberwolves
needed thirty to thirty five points to night Trump. So
that's a great matchup for Dallas Minnesota. There's the reason
they went out and got Tim Connell to construct the

(32:38):
team to beat Denver, which they did, but they weren't
set up to beat Dallas. And now Dallas is facing
the team that Dallas is the only team in the
league that have one through eighth all legitimate three point shooters.
So there's nobody on Boston, Boston. I'm sorry, Boston, there's
nobody on Boston's roster that you can say, Hey, you

(33:01):
know what, let's leave this guy open, right, Luca, on
this particular guy, you can't do it defensive. This is
why I thought Rudy Gobert was not Defensive Player of
the Year. I'll be completely honest, because defensive versatility is
far more important and impactful than simple rent protection is.
And the difference between Minnesota and Boston to me is

(33:23):
the clear, like clear evidence of that.

Speaker 3 (33:26):
No, that's the same reason I didn't vote for Gobert.

Speaker 4 (33:29):
I voted for Wimby because he can't get out on
the floor and guard.

Speaker 3 (33:33):
Yeah, yeah, get it.

Speaker 4 (33:35):
Antonio, great stuff, man, Thank you, and uh have a
great weekend.

Speaker 5 (33:40):
Yeah, I appreciate you.

Speaker 1 (33:41):
Tell and Chris, we're going to have them through the
NBA free agency and okay, joining us all the way through,
so people want to know.

Speaker 3 (33:49):
Great, all right, thank you.

Speaker 4 (33:52):
Joe Lmbid weighs in on the finals, a little shot
at Dame.

Speaker 3 (33:57):
We'll get into that next. A couple of Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 2 (34:00):
Fox Sports Radio has the best sports talk lineup in
the nation. Catch all of our shows at foxsports Radio

Speaker 3 (34:11):
All right, it's the odd couple. Chris Bruce R.

Speaker 4 (34:14):
Rob Parker live from the Tirerag dot com studios.

Speaker 3 (34:17):
So seventies.

Speaker 1 (34:21):
Yes, Jokers while Jack Berry joker, joker and a triple Wow.

Speaker 4 (34:29):
I don't know if I should be impressed that I
know that we're afraid that you know that.

Speaker 1 (34:34):
I know that Jack Barry he was good. He was
a good game show host. I had a trivia speaking
of this that I asked Alex earlier. Chris, there was
a nighttime version of The Price Is Right, a nighttime
version that came on. Do you remember who the host
of that? You didn't know that? Steve just put your
hand up. Can you put Steve's mike on real quick?

Speaker 3 (34:55):
Steve. Steve might know St. Bill Kellen, Tom Kennedy one
of the regulars.

Speaker 1 (34:59):
No, ready, Wayne Brady, Dennis James. Does that name ring
a bell? Yes, he was Dennis James. All right, there
we go, James.

Speaker 3 (35:13):
I'm afraid that I know that. I know that the
nighttime version.

Speaker 7 (35:17):
But Rob Parker will forget his picks for Shekel City,
no second.

Speaker 3 (35:21):
Trip and the triple. There you go go. Speaking of
Shekel City, here we go.

Speaker 2 (35:26):
Welcome to Shekel City, the whole base for Rob Parker's
day dicks against the scrap.

Speaker 1 (35:37):
All right, a little Shekel City, and of course we're
doing some baseball, no basketball, here we go, Thank you,
bill uh.

Speaker 3 (35:46):
Let's do it. The Dodgers.

Speaker 1 (35:47):
Dodgers mind is one and a half runs taking on
the Texas Rangers in Los Angeles tonight, that's at ten
ten eastern. I'm also gonna take the Angels plus one
and a half runs. They are in the desert in
Arizona taking on the Diamondbacks. And I'm gonna take Seattle
plus one and a half against the White Sox. Seattle

(36:08):
plus one and a half at home against the lowly
White Sox, the Angels plus one and a half taking
on the d Backs and the Dodgers minus one and
a half hosting the Rangers who won the World Series
a year ago. And Chris are under five hundred as
we get closer and closer to the end of June.

(36:28):
But remember, I'm not telling you who to bet on.
I'm telling you who I bet on. All right, well, Rob,
Joel MB weighs in.

Speaker 4 (36:38):
You know he's usually watching the playoff games like us
at this point in the season.

Speaker 3 (36:42):
Oh, shots fired, Like you know what, I love it be.
But it's time to start waiting Joel.

Speaker 7 (36:49):
Rob.

Speaker 3 (36:49):
This is what I want Joel MB to be doing
right now, working.

Speaker 4 (36:54):
Out, increasing his stamina and eating kale, eating kal. That's
what I want him to be doing, losing a little weight,
eating kl working out, getting ready.

Speaker 3 (37:10):
Be healthy next year, big man. Be healthy. But anyway,
he tweeted.

Speaker 4 (37:15):
During last night's game, Rob when maybe it was after
the game, but did the Bucks give the title to Boston?
Obviously meaning that Drew Holliday who played with the Bucks
when they won their last championship and.

Speaker 3 (37:32):
Just traded to.

Speaker 4 (37:34):
Ultimately traded to the Celtics over the last offseason.

Speaker 3 (37:39):
Now, of course, remember Drew was traded.

Speaker 4 (37:41):
To Portland as a part of that Damian Lillard trade,
and then he was rerouted to Boston. I will say this,
Rob Drew obviously has been great, and not only defensively,
but he's a great fit offensively because he's a true
point guard and Marcus Smart was not a true point guard, right,
so they didn't have anybody to run the offense, particularly late,

(38:03):
so it would be in Jalen and j Jason's hands
a lot, and they turn it over and stuff like that.

Speaker 3 (38:08):
Now you got a true point guard to orchestrate. But
also Drew Holliday Robs struggled last.

Speaker 4 (38:16):
Year in the playoffs against Miami, Jimmy Butler had a
field day against him, averaged thirty eight points on sixty
percent shooting against Drew, and then Drew struggled offensively, shot
forty percent from the forty percent from the field, last
three games, shot thirty three percent. And so at that

(38:37):
time the Bucks are looking at it like, look.

Speaker 3 (38:40):
Giannis is not a closer because he can't shoot.

Speaker 4 (38:44):
Middleton's heard all the time he's kind of he's our closer,
but he's hurt a lot. We need to go get
a guy that's a bucket, not only a bucket during
the game, but a bucket late and his clutch and
that was Damian Lillard.

Speaker 3 (38:56):
And so I'm not gonna.

Speaker 4 (38:58):
Kill the Bucks for that deal. It hasn't worked out yet.
We'll see if it does this year. But at the time, Rob, they.

Speaker 3 (39:06):
Thought we can do without Drew.

Speaker 5 (39:08):
Uh.

Speaker 4 (39:08):
He wasn't great against Miami in the first round when
we lost, and that's kind of how And also they
probably don't make that trade.

Speaker 3 (39:15):
Rob if they think he ends up in Boston.

Speaker 1 (39:18):
Yeah, I get it, but I think for the Celtics
of and be looking at it knowing what Drew brings
to the table. Chris is why you know, you know it,
and and he helped them win a game, right they
or or at least you know, work hold down Kyrie?

Speaker 3 (39:38):
Can I say that? Is that fair? To hold him
down a little bit? Yeah?

Speaker 4 (39:42):
Been a part of it. Yeah, you know, there's so
many I know, a lot of switches. But but but
I'm gonna give him a little credit for it, for sure. Yeah,
And that's all. And I'm just saying so.

Speaker 1 (39:52):
So when people made that trade, they thought, wow, Okay,
they picked up somebody who can dig in and play.
And it's worked out for them, so I see kind
of what he's talking about. No, I get it because
we'll see the key. Yeah, we'll see what happens again.
If this doesn't work out in Milwaukee next year, Chris,
then you can really take a look at it and go.

Speaker 3 (40:11):
That's my rushes on Dame. Now get this thing done,
keep it locked. I couple
