It is a TV game song Thursday here on the
Odd Couple. Somebody called in yesterday it was good times.
Can we get good time for the first.

Speaker 2 (01:58):
Oh yeah, we did have a request. Yeah we have
us for good two times. So we'll do that. Yes.

Speaker 1 (02:02):
Matter of fact, No, don't play that. He called me bookman. No,
remember that he called me bookman. And if you know
the show, that wasn't a compliment.

Speaker 2 (02:10):
Beggar. But I see it. No, you're gonna see something night.
What the five figures in the face. There we go.

Speaker 4 (02:19):
All, welcome in my co host Kelvin Washington. Yes, sir
Kelvin Thursday.

Speaker 1 (02:27):
Man, uh, look at me. Put the camera on me.
I'm ready to do it. Man, I'm locked in, Alex,
you will be happy. I went to the spot and
I have something. I have no idea. What's in here, lavender,
some type of mushrooms. I hope it ain't a mushroom.
Now you know, the wrong type of mushroom. I got
some rooms. That's not a crazy hold on and rad hare,

(02:50):
that's the other thing.

Speaker 2 (02:51):
Right here, right there, right here, right here.

Speaker 1 (02:54):
They said, it's the one we saw in New York
that you ran from. No, no, you mean in New
wal that's right now. I meant to say, you're from
New York and scared of a rat. Yes, that we
saw in New Orleans.

Speaker 2 (03:03):
Hey, y'all watch out for that rat. It was right.
I had no interest in seeing that. You didn't even
look everybody. I said, oh, let me see. You said
running ice cream like that, you know, ice screamed like that.

Speaker 1 (03:17):
Matter of fact, I think we had like top three,
four or five moments of New Orleans were all you
eating Rob G's buns, eating his cakes, running from the rat,
eating all the wings? Am I missing anything else? Robb
g our top five moments when Orlean was all Rob Parker.

Speaker 2 (03:35):
But wait a minute. And then the other one, Chris,
we saw I didn't pick up the check. Yeah, that
one too.

Speaker 1 (03:40):
That that was the Oh I thought it, well, Chris,
Chris is maybe you got three of the five he
has the other two? You said he left the stain
this getting expensive, you campaign.

Speaker 4 (03:49):
I know you're right. I like it now that he's
on TV. You know, terriffs Man, Terriffs are real. All right,
let's welcome into the Odd Couple crew. We wouldn't be
able to do this on radio program without him. Rob
g A is our producer, that's right, Alex is our engineer.

Speaker 2 (04:07):
Martin Weiss is at the anchor desk.

Speaker 4 (04:09):
And never heard of him, heard of him and never
heard of it. Yea, my goodness, gracious, all right, we
got a lot to get to here on this TV
theme song Thursday. And uh, I don't know. I mean,
if you watched last night's game where the Thunder advanced

(04:32):
to the NBA chance, congratulations, I had no interest in
watching that. I just could. I mean, it wasn't a
basketball game. I just I'm out on games like that
for real. I got it's got to be like somewhat.
So you're watching the final, well, no, I will. It's
it's on the game by game basis.

Speaker 2 (04:50):
If it's like I see first couple of minutes.

Speaker 4 (04:52):
If not, I'm looking for a Golden Girls marathon, I am,
thank you.

Speaker 2 (04:56):
Yeah, And that's it. It's if it's that bad, Arte.

Speaker 1 (04:59):
We we got some more conversations we'll have about kind
of the Thunder SG and all that, so I'll save
some of that for that but I will say I understand,
and it's so funny because it's been the polar opposite.
Right now you have it where the Knicks are down
three to one in this series. Yet I'm excited about that,
you know what I mean, because the games have been competitive,
we've seen comebacks, and I believe Jalen Bruns is gonna

(05:20):
have a you know, one of those nights of forty
piece night to push this series to six where I think,
see it and I get that, But you can't contend
that these games.

Speaker 2 (05:30):
Can I give you a number?

Speaker 4 (05:31):
Yeah, And I'm just saying this doesn't mean it's gonna
this was gonna happen to night. You could be right,
the Knicks could win the game and go back to
Indiana and lose Game six or whatever it is. When
the Pacers are up three to one, ten and oh,
when the Knicks are down three to one, oh and fifteen.
What I mean in that because a lot of teams,

(05:52):
you know what I mean, Like once you get to that,
Knicks is the more staggering one that's been a game.

Speaker 1 (05:57):
It is the Knicks. But I think Brunts is that
type guy. He can he can have one of those games.
But even if they lose. My point was that these
have been competitive, fun games, you know, So it's funny.

Speaker 2 (06:07):
I fulfill the polar opposite.

Speaker 1 (06:09):
But the Eastern Conference finals games, which is funny, is
also because it's been the Leastern Conference, you know what
I mean. The West has been the more entertaining conference
throughout the years, but this seems like this playoff. The
East has definitely had some very compelling series, not all,
but some very compelling, including this one we're watching. Even
though the team is up three to one, it's been
a good one. So I understand what you mean about

(06:30):
last night. But even with that, there was a bunch
of sound that came out from the loss with ant
man Anthony Edwards and now second year in a row
losing in five in the Western Conference Finals. Here's what
he had to set a couple of his thoughts.

Speaker 5 (06:46):
It's exciting.

Speaker 3 (06:47):
I don't know.

Speaker 2 (06:48):
I don't know why people would think.

Speaker 5 (06:49):
He would hurt.

Speaker 6 (06:50):
I mean, it's exciting for me. I'm twenty three. I
get to do it a whole bunch of times. I'm
hurt more so for myself for Mike. I came up
short for Mike. Like I said, we tried last year
we couldn't get it. We try again this year. I'm
wanna try again next year. But hurting is a terrible
word to use. I'm good. Nobody's gonna work harder than
me this summer. I'll tell you that much. So yeah,

(07:10):
I'll try. I'll try to make it happen again.

Speaker 4 (07:12):
For Mike.

Speaker 1 (07:13):
Well, that's assuming Mike Conley will be there. I mean
he in basketball terms, Mike Conley is sixty six. And
also they may want to make some moves at some point.
But I will say this, I actually do believe and
his work ethic and going back in the lab and
finding a new thing, finding the next gear. I don't
necessarily question that he sees he's proven to be a
hard worker. We all love the fact that he wants

(07:35):
to play all Lady two games. He's been very vocal
about that. He's vocal about challenges, So I don't question
that part from ant Man. I don't question that he
feels hurt isn't the word I think for him.

Speaker 2 (07:46):
It's motivational.

Speaker 1 (07:46):
All Right, we're gonna come back and we on your head,
and he believes he'll be back multiple times. The issue
where I'm concerned is is ant Man gonna be the
new version of Kevin Garnett. Is man gonna be the
ticket where we never questioned his loyalty, we never questioned
how hard he worked, We never questioned his desire to win,

(08:08):
never question him. On both ends of the ball, Kevin
Garnett was a star wars on both ends all right, offensively, defensively.

Speaker 2 (08:14):
A team guy, probably to fault.

Speaker 1 (08:17):
He was so team friendly, and yet he was never
able to get it to done. And I'll never forget
John Thompson was interviewing him and he was like, well,
what's going on? I see something to look in your
face and he just starts crying. He's like, I'm losing.
I'm losing. And I'll never forget that. Kevin Garnett wanted
to win so bad he just start crying, I'm losing.
And I just think the Minnesota Timberwolves, I don't think

(08:38):
they have exactly what it will take to get to
that next level. And my concern is, are we looking
at a guy that we all love. We love his game,
we love his competitiveness, we love his edge, we love
that he just plays on both sides of the ball.
But will this team, this franchise get him to the
next level, and I don't think they will. And I
think aunt Man will win a championship. But it might

(09:00):
be with the Knicks, it might be with you know,
a Laker in seven eight years. It might be with
the Warriors, it might be with some of these the Spurs,
but I don't think ant Man. It could be with
the Miami Heat. But I don't think ant Man is
going to win in Minnesota. And I think he's gonna
have a Kevin Garnett like where we all like Man.
He's playing hard, we want them to win. We like him,

(09:20):
but he might have to go elsewhere to do it.
This franchise hasn't proven to do nothing over the years.
They've had some good teams over the last twenty plus years.
They got rid of some of the guys who think
they wouldn't get rid of. They got rid of Carl
Anthony Towns. They brought in Julius Randall that doesn't really work.
They didn't stick with Towns and continue to ride him
and at Edwards and see what they can do. After
going the Western Conference Finals, they get rid of Jimmy Butler,

(09:42):
who you know, has been proven to be good in
the postseason, and again looking at the way they I
hate to say it wasted Kevin Garnett, and some of
it is the fact that they're in the Western Conference
with a bunch of other talented teams. Does, okay, Steve,
continue to just stand in their way for the next
five year. Did the Nuggets make a move and get
in their way for the new few handful of years?
Do the Warriors bounce back and make a move? Do

(10:03):
the Lakers do something now? They got Luca Lebron and
something else. So I just concerned that he will want
to do it. He'll be loyal to the Timberwolves, but
ultimately he'll have to go win somewhere else.

Speaker 4 (10:14):
Totally disagree. I think that the comparison is not legit.
And here's why. One guy is twenty three years old
and he's been to the Western Conference finals twice two
years in a row. And guy got you, he didn't
make it out of it. He didn't get to the title. Okay, Ay,
Kevin Gartnett was twenty eight, who started his career when
he was twenty.

Speaker 2 (10:35):
Right, So here are by like eight or nine years,
this guy's been there twice already.

Speaker 4 (10:41):
Number two, they have new ownership that just took over
like three months ago, two months ago with A Rod
and his group. This ain't the old Minnesota Timberwolves ownership.
That guy might not have been interested in winning.

Speaker 2 (10:55):
A Rod and his group. I don't believe we're in that.

Speaker 4 (11:00):
And when I think about Kevin Garnett and where they were,
I just think it's a different time and era, and
I agree with you. It's a tough Western Conference and
the idea that this guy has gotten there already and
they need to make one other move or some other

(11:20):
situation the same way. And we keep seeing different teams
go every year. It's not inconceivable the way Denver went
to a championship and now we're seeing OKAC. I just
don't think it's that far away, or you're making it like,
oh my god, well that's two years of the row.
They didn't get there, so it's all over and it's

(11:40):
exact opposite to me. I'm looking at it saying that
there's a great chance if you make the right tweaks.
And then I heard what he said, and that's the
greatest thing you could hear. No one's gonna work harder
than me and the AFS. That's all you can ask for.

Speaker 2 (11:57):
The kid. He's twenty three, not to eight Kevin Durant,
Kevin Darnett. Garnett.

Speaker 4 (12:04):
He left because he had played there for like what
was it, Rob g nine or ten years and he
stole when he was in high school. He played there
ten years and they finally got there. Right, this guy's
had immediate success at twenty two, twenty three, He's been
to the Western Conference finals. He has to feel like
I'm knocking on the door. All we need to do

(12:26):
is make another move, another situation. So I don't think
that he's Kevin Garnett at all. I think that he
is going to with new ownership and with his desire
that he's that close. And looking at the NBA, it's
not your father's NBA where you got teams. This is
Lebron every year it Steph Curry and them. I'm not

(12:48):
looking at the Warriors long term. I'm not looking at
the Lakers long term. I'm looking at the younger players
that were starting to see and no situations.

Speaker 2 (12:56):
So I think that he has a chance.

Speaker 4 (12:58):
And there's no reason from Minnesota to panic and go like, oh,
we can't get it done here.

Speaker 2 (13:03):
Oh my god, they just took over the team.

Speaker 4 (13:05):
Two months ago, I'm thinking full there were minority owners,
but I mean now that they're the owners, I guarantee
you guarantee you that a Rod is not in this
to just be in it, that he wants to win
a championship and to be that close two years in
a row and I ain't close. I mean obviously four
games to one, but I mean in it. You got

(13:26):
to be in the Western Conference finals to have a chance,
you know what I mean. So uh, I'm expecting that
to happen.

Speaker 1 (13:36):
My issue though, is you I go back to great
example of Karmthony Towns. They had a chance in the
Western Conference finals and they tried to dump taxes right there.
They don't want to pay it, and that is a
real thing in all sports.

Speaker 4 (13:46):
But do you also think that maybe they didn't think
that he was the guy that they want to soak
the money into. And a lot of people, even Nick fans,
are like, is he really that guy saying that he's
better than Julius random Well, but they are also going
to be knocked out. So he went to New York
on the team. So I'm just saying yes on paper,
but does that mean you're gonna win or win with

(14:08):
Anthony we call Anthony Townsend. My big thing is the
type of money that he's gonna be paid compared to
Julius Randall. That might not be the money I want
to give to anybody. And I'm going back to a
couple of things I just took over.

Speaker 1 (14:20):
Yeah, the team, I'm not saying they this is there,
this is their run, but I'm talking about just looking
at the history of that franchise. And again, I don't
question ant Man's desire, just like I did with Kevin Garnett,
just like I did in his work ethics. And he's
playing on both ends of the ball. Who can they get?
Can they get free agents to come to Minnesota? And
I don't know, they don't often get big time free agents.
Can they get the right guys? And again last point, again,

(14:42):
the Western Conference is crazy right now. You got a
bunch of young Houston's coming, Denver's is gonna still be there, Okay,
See might have it a lot for four or five years.

Speaker 4 (14:51):
So yeah, But the difference is you're saying Kevin Garnett
waited ten years he was twenty.

Speaker 2 (14:57):
I can't go to the future. I can't tell you
I answer. Nobody was twenty.

Speaker 4 (15:02):
Eight years old just to get to the Western Conference
he had never been.

Speaker 2 (15:06):
That's totally different.

Speaker 4 (15:07):
That's a guy who's who's a has loyalty team, who
doesn't want to run away from a situation. Anybody could
have said, why would you stay there ten years? You
should have left after five or six years. And man
is a young player twenty three, he's been there twice.
It's not to say it's apples and oranges.

Speaker 2 (15:24):
It's not the player, it's the organization.

Speaker 1 (15:27):
That's what I'm trying to say about where he is,
and what I'm saying is too, this could be a
Dann Marino where you don't want to also just I'm
gonna be here several times. I know he hopes that
and believes it, but you gotta take advantage when you
get there.

Speaker 2 (15:40):
And he went one time even too.

Speaker 1 (15:43):
But this is even the final. Rob Dave Marino went
to the Super Bowl. You keep acting like it's the finals. No,
but you're talking about being at the final. You just
compared him to Kevin Garnett, who had to wait till
he was.

Speaker 2 (15:53):
Twenty eight years old. He came out of high school,
he played ten years.

Speaker 4 (15:57):
Eighteen to twenty eight, just to get to the Western
Conference finals is not the same as a guy who
was twenty two and twenty three who already made it.
There I'm saying, if I'm looking at it, I'm not saying,
oh my god, it's gonna take me ten years.

Speaker 2 (16:10):
No, we're close. You hope you're close.

Speaker 1 (16:12):
And I like it, and I love what he's about,
and he better, he and the team better not resting
the laurels and just think, oh, it's automatic, because it's not.

Speaker 2 (16:20):
Who said it was.

Speaker 4 (16:21):
He just said he's gonna work as hard as he can.
He just say it's automatically.

Speaker 2 (16:23):
We're talking.

Speaker 1 (16:24):
I just said he and the team, rob the team.
I keep saying, it is not my concern.

Speaker 4 (16:30):
Well eight seven, seven ninety nine on Fox eight seven
seven nine nine six sixty three sixty nine. Will Anthony
Edwards be Kevin Garnett two point zero? I gotta think
about that? Or is he going to have to leave
Minnesota to win a title. We'll continue that conversation next

(16:50):
with you. It is the Odd Couple, Rob Parker Kevin
Washington on a TV theme. So on Thursday right here

TV Themes song Thursday and.

Speaker 2 (17:23):
We're gonna get good Times on We're gonna get it all. Yeah,
we got it, We got it. You've gotta worry about that.

(17:51):

the conversation about ant Man.

Speaker 4 (17:56):
I believe he may be in line to be a
Kevin Garnett Part two when it comes Minnesota Timberwolves.

Speaker 2 (18:01):
Rob believes, will you tell them what you believe, no way, no,
how is that a fair comparison or accurate? Eight seven,
seven ninety nine on Fox, We'll take some calls.

Speaker 4 (18:10):
Hey, Drew in New Jersey, you're on the odd couple
of Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 2 (18:13):
What's up, Drew?

Speaker 7 (18:16):
Thank you?

Speaker 5 (18:16):
I heard that.

Speaker 8 (18:17):
This is not Kevin Garnett. I think this is Vince
Carter two point zero. I don't see top five player.
You can't be in the face of the league. If
you're not a top five player. We've never had one,
even in the seventies. The base of basketball is not
in the NBA. Who was the ABA? He's never had one.
I feel like Anthony Edwards is Vince Carter. Vince Carter

(18:39):
was great. Was Vince Carter ever the face of the NBA? Never?

Speaker 2 (18:43):
I don't know. Did Vince Carter? Do they ever get
to the conference finals?

Speaker 5 (18:46):
I don't even he did? He did?

Speaker 7 (18:48):
He did? He against?

Speaker 1 (18:49):
Was that Philly? And I was the one against Philly.
AI would go to the play the Lakers.

Speaker 8 (18:54):
There's your camp cold weather, Hi, taxis cold?

Speaker 2 (18:57):
Not matter that Drew Drew beg you out the phone
for your boss. Fine, out of you and Drew in
New Jersey?

Speaker 4 (19:01):
All right, Drew that's right. Appreciate the call, Casey and Oregon.
You're on the odd couple of Fox Sports Radio. What's up, hey.

Speaker 7 (19:09):
Guys, thanks for taking my call.

Speaker 2 (19:10):
Great show, Thank you body. What's happening?

Speaker 5 (19:14):
Man?

Speaker 7 (19:14):
I gotta push back on you here, Rob pushed back.

Speaker 2 (19:17):
Go ahead. Let me hear this.

Speaker 7 (19:20):
Minnesota needs to be very careful here because Aunt Edward's
career to me, seems like it's mirroring Lebron's a little
bit and four or five years from now we could
see him taking office. They don't find him a robin
to get him over the hump. Grant, he didn't play
that well against the thunder, but I agree with tell
the named the clock's taking on Minnesota. You gotta strike

(19:43):
when the iron's hut.

Speaker 2 (19:44):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (19:44):
But the only difference is it's not like Kevin Gardner
waited ten years to make it to the Western Conference finals. Okay,
he could have left earlier. Uh, the ownership were cheap.
Now you have new ownership. That's the only reason why don't.

Speaker 2 (19:59):
You too up. They just took over. They just took over,
and he didn't want to pay the taxes. They weren't
there last year. It was up. They were part of it.
They were minority owners. No, they were not minorities.

Speaker 4 (20:12):
But you're to say, Ron Jabari in Michigan, you're on
the couple of Fox Sports Radio, what's up?

Speaker 5 (20:19):
What's up?

Speaker 8 (20:19):
Happy?

Speaker 5 (20:19):
Thursday?

Speaker 2 (20:20):
Focus, Yes, Thursday, what's going on? My man?

Speaker 7 (20:23):
Yes?

Speaker 9 (20:23):
Absolutely, absolutely, that was good. That's good, and you know
it's I was good when the Tigers are winning, you know,
saying oh yeah.

Speaker 4 (20:30):
Tops of majors too, But they're not. They're not the
best team in the American League. The Yankees are.

Speaker 9 (20:35):
Oh please yeah, as a Toby.

Speaker 2 (20:38):
Changing, where'd you go find a Yankee game? Look at
you off? Okay?

Speaker 9 (20:43):
Yeah yeah. But overall, the whole thing about Anthony Edwards,
I mean me personally, I don't even really see the
comparison at all. I mean, a guy who went to
back to back conference finals appearances had more talent than Kate.
He had, you know, when he was in Minnesota, like
this is the most says that we have seeing with
Minnesota host kg.

Speaker 2 (21:03):
Eric, thank you.

Speaker 9 (21:04):
And my thing is that you're like, yes, he's only
twenty three. I do blame people in the media that
did try to rank him so high and say, oh,
this is the next, this next, that he's his leg
I feel like he needs more. But if y'all want
to be honest, I mean, he's twenty three years old.
If you if there's any hope that you want that
Anthy Edwards should have is that, Hey I was.

Speaker 5 (21:24):
I'm you know, I'm.

Speaker 9 (21:25):
Twenty three years old. I went to two Congresce finals appearances.
And there's any comparicony that you want to look at,
just look at Jason Tatum, Jason Tanner before he was
twenty four years old. He won the two conference finals appearances.

Speaker 5 (21:35):
Thank you, Look and look.

Speaker 9 (21:36):
What happened eventually. So you got to give it, give
it way more time. It's like it's not over. Given
more time and see how it goes the next three
to four years.

Speaker 4 (21:42):
And Kevin Durant, Kevin wanted to be Kevin Garnett. I
don't know because I'm always seven Kevin Durant. I don't
speak about Kevin Garding at that office. Thank you appreciated, Jabari, Yeah,
I appreciate it, but let's go.

Speaker 1 (21:54):
I should have told him your terrible lions take you
had earlier, since he's from Michigan.

Speaker 2 (21:59):
All over, man, are you passing it around? Passing around?

Speaker 1 (22:02):
I'm about to pass it, throw it in the trash,
that take. We'll talk about that later on too. All
right on the way, we got Eddie House. Eddie House
always fun to talk to. We'll do that in just
a minute, Martin Weiss, Right now, my brother, what's trending?

Speaker 5 (22:40):
Betty's how you Hey?

Speaker 4 (22:44):
Don't be you know spicy with me this time around?
Last time, ye he had to get icy.

Speaker 5 (22:49):
Oh no, because you know what you was on some others.

Speaker 7 (22:52):
So I was like, you know that ain't usually.

Speaker 5 (22:54):
I can't roll with that. One day. We gotta we
gotta keep it this, We gotta keep it solid out here.
How they say in New You from New York, right, yes,
keep it up, buck.

Speaker 2 (23:03):
Keep it up, buck.

Speaker 4 (23:04):
I got my Timberlin's on my tyms.

Speaker 2 (23:07):
You know that. But you're listening to some mob deep
right now? Exactly? Yeah done, hey, Matt done? Yes, yeah done. Man.

Speaker 1 (23:16):
Let's just go with what we saw last night Western
Confegce Finals.

Speaker 2 (23:20):
Another blowout. Okay, see, just just a terrible game. Oh yeah,
that series.

Speaker 5 (23:27):
Yeah. Well, you know what the thing is, we just
gotta be believers, you know what I'm saying in Okay, See,
I think all season long, everybody was like, hey, are
they young, their youth, are they going to be able
to show up in those moments? The one thing that
does show up in travels is defense. They was number
one in every category in defense this whole season. So

(23:47):
if you look back in December, they were number one.
You look back in February, they were number one. You
look back right before the playoffs, they were number one.
So at that point you got to actually start believing
that they are damn good defensive team. That's the one
thing that does travel. Not making, doesn't We've seen it

(24:08):
with and decision making, doesn't, you know what I mean? Like,
none of those things sometimes don't travel, you know what
I mean? And and so, but defense does. And they've
been the best defensive team all season long. And what
I can say about them is that they do have
one of the best closers in the game. Right now,

(24:29):
you cannot you cannot sleep on him.

Speaker 4 (24:32):
I'm sorry, Hey, Eddie, talk about Tyrese Halliburton. We saw
him painting of Picasso the other day. Like, just no
turnovers for a point guard, and the big baskets and
the rebounds and the just he did everything that you
would want somebody to do. Just talk about his game.

(24:53):
Have you always liked this game? Is this out of
for you?

Speaker 2 (24:56):
Is it? Did you change your mind about him as
a player or not?

Speaker 5 (25:00):
No? I always always like this game. I like any
point guard that is a traditional point guard. Get everybody
set up. Think about the points that he accounted for,
not only what he did himself, but in the assists realm,
you know what I mean. It's not turning the ball
and not turning the ball over that's big time. That's
just like somebody going out getting sixty, you know what

(25:21):
I mean. Now, if somebody gets sixty, they're like, oh
my god, he's a killer. No, I look at it
in a different light, because you know, I look at
hoop in a different light then casual people that just
think that it's only about scoring. He's a traditional point guard.
He just takes care of the basketball. Only thing is
that his jumpers a little ugly. But I don't care
about that. You want to know why, because.

Speaker 3 (25:41):
It goes in.

Speaker 5 (25:42):
Yeah, if it goes in, I don't care how it looks,
you know what I mean. Some people have an ugly pass,
you know, quarterback got ugly passes, baseball players that got
an ugly swing, and then it's basketball players that got
ugly shots. Who cares, you know what I mean? As
long as it's not a lot of Charles Barkley.

Speaker 2 (26:03):
That's pretty ugly. That's not even ugly. Edie that's ugly.

Speaker 5 (26:07):
Hey, But look though, but then it don't it's not
even effective. Okay, So that's what I'm talking about. It
can't be ugly and ineffectus. But at the same time,
I think that he's like what he does, and I
think he also took some disrespect to not him not
even playing in the in the Olympics, right, and then
at the beginning of the season, everybody's like Oh, he overrated.

(26:28):
I don't know if he's that guy, but he's turned
it around. He has a team again in the Eastern
Conference finals for the chance to close it out tonight,
and he is. He has spearheaded this team. So I
have to give him all the credit. Man.

Speaker 1 (26:45):
Let me ask you this Eddie House, our guests on
the I cover Rod Parker, Kevin Washington on the TV thing.
So on Thursday, let's go to the other point guard
in this series. Obviously the next are fighting and fighting.
That's one thing is there's nothing else. Even if they
were losing that we can all say they fought the
whole playoffs. They don't give up. But Jalen Brunson, one
of those high usage guys, has to dribble a lot

(27:06):
and is effective and as mister Clutch of the Year
and has been able to win some big games during
this postseason. What do you make in his style of
play and do you believe that is the way he
can play moving forward and play winning basketball and get
his team maybe to the finals.

Speaker 5 (27:19):
Well, I think it's going to be the other guys
that's going to have to step up, because you can't
lean on one guy at the end of the day.
You know, I we having this discussion with one of
my partners earlier today. It's never one person that wins
the whole thing. They just step up in certain moments
that look like it's that guy that did it, but
you need help. You know, Michael Jordan didn't do it

(27:40):
by himself. When he was by himself, like really, with
no supported cast, he wasn't winning championships. When Scotty came
he started with you know, Horace Grant came over, they
started winning kukokes over there. Dennis Robins not taking anything
away from Michael Jordan, because I believe he is the
best player that ever touched a hardwood floor, that ever
laced up the tennis shoes, that ever was able to

(28:03):
put the basket in the hole. Okay, so, but so
I want to say that to say this is that
you always need somebody else to show up. And I
feel like even Evan Edwards he needed Julius Randall. Where
was Julius Randa act except the one game? You know
what I mean?

Speaker 2 (28:19):
Seven field goal attempts in that game?

Speaker 5 (28:21):
What was that?

Speaker 1 (28:21):
Game three is absolutely Game four was terrible. You can't
have seven field goal tempts?

Speaker 5 (28:26):
Yeah, No, you can't have that. But at the same time,
I'm looking at Jalen Brunton is going to have It's
going to be the other guy. Just in the same
series that we when we played them in Boston. Think
about who showed up. You had to McBride in the
first quarter, I mean first half of one game. You
had heart I think got twenty four in another game.

(28:47):
Then you have Michael Bridges with the fourteen in the
fourth quarter in another game. And so that's what that's
what has to happen. It's going to have to have
other guys step up in big time moments then right now,
and you know what, I ain't even and I'm gonna
say it, I don't care. You know what I mean?

(29:07):
Sending them home packing?

Speaker 2 (29:10):
You mean tonight? Yeah, yeah, I'm with you on that.

Speaker 5 (29:14):
I send them packing tonight, the month, the day after, whenever,
just get them out of here.

Speaker 2 (29:21):
Let me ask you about that last thing. Just the Knicks.

Speaker 4 (29:24):
And you know, everybody thought when they slaved the Celtics,
it's around, oh, they're going to the finals. Look they
just beat the champs. Nobody no, I know, but that's
what the You know, they were naming streets after players
in New York.

Speaker 2 (29:37):
All I mean, I'm like, what what name of the street?
They haven't even done anything. They did Eddie was ridiculous.

Speaker 5 (29:44):
They did do that. They actually did do that. Yes,
streets after players and so that just shows you how
much dust Oh no, how buried their championship? Right lord
is you know, but.

Speaker 2 (30:00):
It's not like New York's never won championship.

Speaker 4 (30:03):
That's what's so depressing for me to watch, is like,
you know, it's one thing if you're some small town,
you're Oklahoma City or someplace that's never had any.

Speaker 5 (30:13):
Kind of chim rob rob They haven't though.

Speaker 2 (30:15):
No, but but they were they weren't even born.

Speaker 5 (30:18):
So let me tell you this. I wasn't even thought
of when they want a championship.

Speaker 2 (30:22):
Oh, I get I know, Knicks. I just mean New
York as a whole. They've won championships, that's all.

Speaker 5 (30:27):
Yeah, Yankee Rangers were talking about the Knicks, right, you know,
we're talking about the New York Knicks. You know, the
Mets one one. I've seen the Mets one one. We
think Yankees win one.

Speaker 4 (30:38):
Yeah, the Giants won three Super Bowls in the last
twenty something years.

Speaker 5 (30:42):
I've seen the Giants win them. I've seen. I've seen
the Rangers win one, yep, you know, or maybe a couple.
I'm not sure because I'm not appressed with all of
that history would do it. But what I haven't seen.
I ain't seen the New York Jets, and I have
not seen the New York Knicks won a championship period.

(31:03):
I ain't seen that.

Speaker 2 (31:04):
Ain't none of us seen it.

Speaker 5 (31:06):
Either?

Speaker 2 (31:07):
No, none of us seen.

Speaker 5 (31:09):
Rob was one around with an afro plant third.

Speaker 1 (31:11):
Base, running around in the little tidy whities. Yeah that
that that's the last time they did something. Everybody had
side burns like that was.

Speaker 5 (31:19):
He was over there with a natural Yeah you know
I had Hey.

Speaker 2 (31:23):
I got the pictures. Who it was that era? Andy Man?
Appreciate you as always, Eddy and Dang.

Speaker 1 (31:30):
The bad part about him bringing it up is now
you're gonna pull out some more pictures.

Speaker 2 (31:32):
That's what you're about to do, you know? No pictures?
All right? Well, City on the Way, did I do that?
And well the Knicks did I do that? Is that?
How I sound? I knew that?

Speaker 1 (31:48):
Okay, Fox Sports Radio, I sound like that.

Speaker 3 (31:52):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Odd Couple
with Rob Parker and kelvin Washington weekdays at seven pm
Eastern four pm Pacific on Fox Sports Radio and the
iHeartRadio app.

Speaker 4 (32:04):
I remember that beginning. Oh yeah right, oh, not getting
faster with it, not getting here we go, keep.

Speaker 2 (32:13):
It in your head, ter.

Speaker 4 (32:16):
Making no ways when you can Separari Laos.

Speaker 2 (32:22):
He's a credit rep off.

Speaker 4 (32:26):
Scratching asbobing time, hanging in a child line.

Speaker 1 (32:31):
Good time, Hey we happy we got him? No boom,
good time.

Speaker 2 (32:44):
I wanna tell you this.

Speaker 4 (32:45):
When this show debuted on CBS, this was appointment television
for black Oh yeah that they was surprised and they're like, no,
you mean white people are watching.

Speaker 2 (32:54):
Because it was the top show. No what I say?
I think that even I think they were shocked, Like,
wait a minute, white people.

Speaker 4 (32:59):
What you know what it was for me? Alex, I'm
gonna tell you this, Rob G's for real. It was
the first time we really saw on a black sitcom
on TV show where the father was present in their life.
It was always a single black mother with no husband.

Speaker 2 (33:14):
Am I right?

Speaker 4 (33:16):
And and even in doing that, which I loved, which
I did love that he was there. Here's but what
did they do? He was always scuffling? Didn't have a
steady job. So he was there, but he really couldn't
take you know what I mean.

Speaker 2 (33:31):
But you know I didn't mind that. No, but I'm
just saying no, you're right. It wasn't like the Cosby.
They got these two because because who was it.

Speaker 4 (33:38):
NBC got the show, but CBS and ABC both passed,
saying no one was going to buy a mother as
a lawyer and a father as a doctor.

Speaker 2 (33:48):
Right right, which, by the way, is crazy.

Speaker 1 (33:50):
No, I know, but that's why it because the Grazt
part is that absolutely happened. That was in the eighties, exactly,
it was in nineteen five five. I just was turned
down by EBS and ABC. First there were black lawyers
and black doctors, I know, but my goodness.

Speaker 2 (34:05):
There's no way.

Speaker 4 (34:06):
But you said, you know that there were black doctors
and black ones, but the father strong.

Speaker 1 (34:11):
I get your point. The only reason why I was
going to say, I like that they kind of showed
the everyday man if you will, like I'm trying.

Speaker 2 (34:18):
You know, I got a job he in the inner city.
I'd have lost my job.

Speaker 1 (34:21):
I'm getting back on my feet, and so there's a balance, right.
You get the Cosby, you get the good times. That's
the thing that's all people really want in life is
the ballance showing the du alley.

Speaker 4 (34:29):
But Cosby was way after that. I'm talking about in
the seventies. It was either the dad wasn't there.

Speaker 2 (34:34):
Or well that's like what you wanted from. What was that?

Speaker 4 (34:37):
Uh?

Speaker 2 (34:37):
What was the show where the judge was black when
he ain't had no lines?

Speaker 5 (34:40):
Oh?

Speaker 2 (34:41):
Well, Perry Mason Mason, Like, I love the idea that
there was.

Speaker 4 (34:45):
Perry Mason and Hamilton Burger are doing the case with
a black judge sitting there, which is fun because it's
Los Angeles County, right, so there's a black judge. And
then they had the audacity not to have them when
you're doing a case.

Speaker 2 (35:00):
You know, hey, you're on. I have Jack not once,
not one, Chambers Bayliff.

Speaker 4 (35:08):
And then the worst part, because he didn't have any lines,
he has no credit.

Speaker 1 (35:12):
In the show and he you know what, he didn't
get no mailbox money, no residuals.

Speaker 4 (35:18):
And that's crazy that the judge didn't have any line.
But anyway, yeah, all.

Speaker 3 (35:21):
Right, check a City, Welcome to Shekel City. The whole
base for Rob Parker's day Dix against the Spread.

Speaker 4 (35:35):
All right, one and two last night, which now brings
my record to one forty three and one forty one.

Speaker 2 (35:43):
I'm two games over.

Speaker 4 (35:44):
I'm telling that I'm taking the Patiers tonight plus four
and a half. Even if they lose, it'll be closed
and the knick, so it'll be buzzer beat and win
by two or one. I expect the Patients to close
them out tonight at Madison Square Garden. So Pacers plus
four and a half, Blue Jays minus one and a
half they're taking on the Athletics. And can I.

Speaker 2 (36:05):
Say this it's ate nothing already and I had this
out early, of course on social media. I'm looking at
it right now.

Speaker 4 (36:12):
Can real good in a second and taking Houston plus
one and a half they are hosting the Tampa Bay
Rays in Houston, so as Jos plus one and a half,
Blue Jays minus one and a half and the Pacers
plus four and a half. And remember, Kelvin, what's that.
I'm not telling you who to bet on. I'm telling
you why best.

Speaker 1 (36:32):
It's not trigonometry, all right, And now it is time
for the tirereck player of the day.

Speaker 4 (36:39):
Down the lane floats to runner cats and to go
to the goose Gildes, Alexander weaving through minefield and Minnesota defenders.

Speaker 2 (36:46):
It didn't matter.

Speaker 1 (36:48):
He gets to the stripe for the fourth time in
Game five, thirty three points in thirty three minutes, gets
Thunder Radio on the call. You got a one twenty
four to ninety four win. They move on to the
NBA Finals. So there is your tire rack player of
the day. And tire Iraq has been helping customers find
the right tires for how, what and where they drive.

Speaker 2 (37:06):
Ship fast and free back by.

Speaker 1 (37:07):
Free Row has a protection with convenient insulation options like
mobile Tire Insulation tire rack dot Com. It is the
way tire buying should be. I expect the Knicks to win.
I think they have. They've shown nothing but heard and
they've been in these games. And I think Brunton is
gonna have a big win tonight, Rob. I think Brunton
gives you thirty five plus tonight. Crowd's gonna be seventy

(37:29):
eight combined. And lost that game they did, I'm just
not I was terrible.

Speaker 2 (37:32):
You can't lose. You cannot lose that game.

Speaker 4 (37:34):
Seventy eight by your two stars and you lose Brunt
at home. Here's why I disagree. The Knicks have been
terrible at Madison squad guard. Is it two and five
or three and five. I mean like they've been do
a thing and they've been like what six, six and
two now on the road. Throughout the postseason, they've played
poorly at home, they haven't won. I just think they're
gonna win a night. I think they They've had a

(37:55):
couple of games they were close in. Even if this
last one, I think Brunton gonna do it. I think
the two five. Finally, the whole crowd will have an advantage.

Speaker 2 (38:01):
They'll get a win. Uh and and then I expect
the Pacers to win it. Don't text me in the
first half when they're down by thirty. Whoa. I'm just saying,
what do you think this is with the Timberwolves? Is
this okay? See if you fall behind and the crowd
gets you know, like they know it's over and whatever.
You just new York ain't going out like that, Okay.
They ain't punching people up the head with trash backs
for no reason. Rob that Pacer Doe he feeling himself

(38:25):
right now. That Pacer fan that was walking around the
jersey after the Celtics He's like, yeah, y'all beat the Celtics.
JO ready for these paces. He might have been a
prophet rob inside the NBA. We gotta talk about it.
