Speaker 4 (01:51):
Steve the Sacre told me, and he said, go check on,
go check on rod Man. That's right. All I say
my name, Rob say his name, and we are indeed the.
Speaker 3 (02:01):
Odd couple, Rob Parker kelvin Washington on this Magic City Monday.
Speaker 4 (02:06):
That's right. You'll need our phone number because we are,
without question, the most listener friendly national sports talk radio
program on the planet. Ben Neller, at.
Speaker 3 (02:20):
Least when people are still awake. Sorry about that bar.
That's right. I can't see you because you're sleep and
you're so write it down committed to memory eight seven
seven ninety nine on Fox. For you laymen who can't
coordinate numbers and letters, it's eight seven seven nine nine
(02:40):
six sixty three sixty nine, not trigonometry. And if you
hear feedback on the line at your own fault, it
means only one thing.
Speaker 2 (02:48):
You forgot to turn down the radio.
Speaker 4 (02:51):
And with that said, always remember the odd couple was
filmed in front of a live audience.
Speaker 3 (02:58):
Sweetie baby, well, I'm talking to you the way I
want to talk to you.
Speaker 4 (03:03):
You have a problem, turn off your station.
Speaker 3 (03:05):
That's right, Alex. I'm gonna write it in the lead
for that. I mean, that has to be that has
to be included. It's too good. Well look around, like okay.
Speaker 4 (03:16):
First block.
Speaker 1 (03:17):
People have been waiting their whole day, ignoring their wives
and kids to listen to the show. And the whole
first segment is it's gonna be intros.
Speaker 4 (03:25):
Let me.
Speaker 3 (03:26):
I want you to know, I swear to you real quick.
I'm not going to eat up time real quick. So seriously,
our program director when I was doing the show in Detroit,
he wanted us to change the Parker and the Man theme.
Speaker 4 (03:39):
So it was a catchy and it won for a
minute and a half.
Speaker 3 (03:42):
It was a song and people used to rush to
They told us rush to their car to just hear
even though you hear it every day, I don't want
to hear it.
Speaker 1 (03:50):
It was like this, like the on Thursdays, you want
to you want to hear it fresh Prince.
Speaker 3 (03:55):
And and so he he fought with us, fat with
us to change it, like I just want you, the guys,
to change it.
Speaker 4 (04:03):
We changed it for one day phone lines. He flew.
He was flooded with calls. He came in the next day.
He said, put your themes on the back. Yeah, take that,
rob G. That's right. Let us do a ten minute intro.
Stop it. Take that for data. I'm slapping it.
Speaker 1 (04:21):
Hey, how are you ready to go out to get
to man? The sports was given this.
Speaker 3 (04:26):
Week Man and a game seven winner take all for
the American League Championship Series. The winner, of course the
Blue Jays and Americas they play the Dodgers for the
World Series that'll kick off this week later this week.
So so much to do, so little time. Let's welcome
in the odd Couple crew, because we wouldn't be able
to do this fine radio program without him, the old
(04:47):
man Rob G. He makes any kind of fun on
a radio show.
Speaker 4 (04:51):
Damn, get off my get off my radio. That's right.
If you don't like it, then turn your station. Hey, guys,
that's just you know, come on, you just get to the.
Speaker 3 (05:01):
All right, Alex is our engine. Steve just Seger is
at the anchor desk.
Speaker 4 (05:07):
Coo Kie never heard of him, never heard of Elijah
is also media. I don't know what he has to do,
no doubt, all a rob g. We got to talk
about now.
Speaker 2 (05:24):
You need me.
Speaker 1 (05:25):
It was like, I don't care what we gotta talk about.
Giant Epic collapsed. We got to talk about.
Speaker 4 (05:30):
I need you to Yes, I need you to set
it up.
Speaker 1 (05:35):
You've done, You've done better requests with the setups of
the setups.
Speaker 4 (05:38):
I just I don't know what you asked. The table
to be set a little bit better before just man
wearing his nice restaurant looks good. Can you set the tab?
I just just said I felt like robbed you. Then
you feel like you're back home one of the kid daddy. Yep,
that's pretty much how it goes.
Speaker 6 (05:53):
But anyways, Yes, Big week Big Sunday, Big weekend is sports,
and of all the story lines that hit outside of
wappen on Friday Night, which we'll get to you later
in the show, the biggest one to come out of
the weekend has to be, without a doubt, that Epic
comeback in Denver. The Denver Broncos come back to stun
(06:14):
Jackson Dart and the new York Football Giants. They were trailing,
then scored through the first three quarters. Okay, they were
up by eighteen points with six minutes to play.
Speaker 7 (06:27):
Before yesterday, five minutes to play, NFL teams had lost
one thousand, six hundred and two consecutive games when trailing
by that round of points with that little amount of time,
and yet bow Knicks did bow Knicks things, accounting for
four touchdowns thirty three points in the.
Speaker 6 (06:47):
Fourth quarter, and the Denver Broncos prevail thirty three thirty
two over the.
Speaker 4 (06:54):
He got test. As usual, Rob g buried the lead.
Speaker 3 (06:57):
If you were if you were my reporter and you
turned in a story about the Denver Broncos and not
the New York Football Giants, I would send that story
back because that story was not about the Denver Broncos
at all, zero zip, nada. It was about the New
(07:18):
York freaking Football Giants who choked down a colossal, colossal
game eighteen points with five minutes to go had never happened.
I'm gonna mirror this to one other situation, Are you ready.
It's when the Knicks lost to the Pacers with two
forty three to go and they choked down that lead.
Speaker 4 (07:40):
Guess what happened a cost call me, mister Tibbs. His job.
Tom Thibodeau was fired after that.
Speaker 3 (07:50):
And I told you, if you can't get fired off
of that, you can never get fired.
Speaker 4 (07:55):
Brian Dabo, pack your bags.
Speaker 3 (07:59):
Your life as coach of the New York freaking Football
Giants is over.
Speaker 4 (08:04):
Are you kidding me?
Speaker 3 (08:06):
This is not the first time this year he mishandled
the game against Dallas and it cost him a game.
That's two freaking games this year by him alone.
Speaker 4 (08:17):
Are you serious?
Speaker 3 (08:20):
Denver my ass? I don't care what Don'tnits did. I
don't care because if the Giants did what they were
supposed to do, how do you rush three men and
let the quarterback have all day? Of course he do
for touchdowns. There was no pressure. How do you turn
a great quarterback into a mediocre one You apply to
pressure you're rushing three Come on, Calvin, you know football.
(08:48):
That's why the players walked off. You neutralize them. Oh,
but they're eight guys out there in the dB sor that.
Speaker 4 (08:57):
No, you know nobody that much time.
Speaker 3 (09:00):
I don't care who you are. And guess what, people
run themselves open. They know where they're going. It's hard
on the defense. You know why, because they don't know
where you're going. Are you kidding me, Bryan Dayball?
Speaker 1 (09:12):
Pack your bags? Well, Brian Dayball definitely is texting, and
you know my theory. He is at home right now
updating the LinkedIn page. He is up now talking to
his agent like, yeah, what you think anything else out there?
Because this is an epic collapse. We know that, Rob
you just mentioned sixteen hundred times. You can't be the
first of something that happened sixteen hundred times.
Speaker 4 (09:32):
Now.
Speaker 1 (09:32):
We know the first is gonna happen in anything in life.
That's why it's the first. However, you don't want to
be the first that happened to And this is the
other thing too. This is the second or third time
that we seen Brian Dave Ball have meltdowns on the field,
remember the whole blue tent issue and yelling at a
health persons like man a doctor are yelling at a
doctor who's just trying to check up on your you know,
(09:52):
could be a star quarterback and he's doing his job.
And so you can feel the pressure on day Ball.
You can see the pressure mounting on him. He's overthinking,
he's over correcting, and he's not inspiring his team in
the sense that there's no way you're supposed to lose
this game where you allow them if they score twenty.
I get it that happens. People score have a hot
fourth quarter. Thirty three points can't happen in the fourth quarter.
(10:14):
And especially when somebody on this show said the Giants
are the best defense and they're going to be the
best team in the NFC East. His name is Rob
G talked about their deals. Well, that's why Rob G
is wants to talk about Denver.
Speaker 4 (10:24):
No I do.
Speaker 1 (10:25):
I am gonna get to Denver on the other side
of this, But that's just all. That's a horrible loss
for a team that had a chance to be building
on something right, to have some chance.
Speaker 4 (10:35):
Huge win, huge win.
Speaker 1 (10:37):
Nobody has expectations except Rob G that they're gonna be anything.
But you get a big win like that against a
team people have, you know, huge playoff aspirations for you
feel good, your young quarterback, your young running back doing
some things. You got some mojo going out there. So
that's a big letdown from your coach. It's a big
letdown for the team. And he's been having these meltdowns
the last two or three weeks. That is starting to
(10:59):
make I'm imagining folks in New York look at him
and questioned him as a head coach. The only other
thing I will say, what the heck is up with
the Broncos where they're supposed to be Sean Payton, the
Hall of Fame coach, Sean Payton is offensive guru, and
they can't freaking score if you take that fourth quarter
away in the fourth quarter against the Eagles three two
(11:20):
now three weeks ago, but two weeks prior to that,
they have sixteen points in three games. So I am
concerned what the heck is going on with the Broncos
that they're supposed to be again an offensive jugging out
with with Sean Payton, And prior to third to the
fourth quarter, they had sixteen points if you take away
that fourth quarter and the fourth quarter of the Eagles.
So someth's double the Broncos. But they they found their
(11:40):
swag and it reminded me of an even greater version
of JJ McCarthy. Remember JJ McCarthy was trash the first
three quarters and they went crazy in the fourth quarter.
Earlier in the season Week one, I believe it was.
That's what it looked like. But you can't lose. There's
no way you can lose that game. And there's no
way I want to lose the momentum that I'm building
with this young core of mine.
Speaker 4 (12:01):
If I'm if I'm dayballing the Giants, no doubt.
Speaker 3 (12:04):
I mean, what a bad, bad, bad day for the
New York Football Giants. Just just another disaster. And I'm saying,
I'm telling you it's like that Knicks game, like after
they they have it really like.
Speaker 4 (12:19):
It's it's it's.
Speaker 3 (12:20):
It's equivalent because both of those are historic collapses. Like
in that Knicks game, they're up one nothing against Indiana,
do you know what I mean? Like that changes everything?
And now did they lose that game? They came back
and followed that up. And here's the other thing of
your ownership or whatever, dude, didn't we just see this
with the Cowboys when they allow the Cowboys to tie
(12:41):
it and beat them in overtime.
Speaker 4 (12:44):
This is not the first time.
Speaker 3 (12:45):
Anybody who watches the New York Football Giants closely, there's
no way you look at that and go it was
a one off. It's not a one off. Enough already
Brian day Ball. Look at his as last three years,
whatever they want, eleven games or something like. Seriously, it's
been all in the.
Speaker 1 (13:02):
Last point for me to day Ball. Part of being
a head coach is controlling both sides of the ball.
And you mentioned it. You give it up point. They're
supposed to be good defensively, and you give up a
bunch of points in Dallas, let him come back.
Speaker 4 (13:13):
You give up all these points in the fourth quarter.
Speaker 1 (13:15):
So can't just be like, oh, well, he's offensive groul,
look what he's gonna do with Jackson Dart. It's like, no,
you're a You're a head coach of the entirety of
the team, special teams, defense, offense as well. So that's
that's a that's a that's a game you need to
win to beat the good team. And the Broncos who
have been struggling offensively last three weeks again, they've been
disappointing as well. I'm not I'm not the Broncos. I'm
not high on them like everybody else is all right.
Speaker 3 (13:37):
Eight seven seven ninety nine on Fox eight seven seven
nine six sixty three sixty nine, And we're not asking
you whether or not show.
Speaker 4 (13:50):
Hayes, the greatest player in Major League Baseball. That's coming
because he ain't. But we're talking about the New York
freaking Football.
Speaker 3 (13:58):
Giants and the collapse job And I know Rob g
wants to talk about the Denver Broncos. I'm sorry, this
is about the New York Football Giants.
Speaker 4 (14:08):
Where are you? Who's the blame?
Speaker 3 (14:10):
Did we just tip our cap to the Denver Broncos
because they did turned on some magic in the fourth quarter?
Or is this an indictment of Brian day Ball should
be fired as Giants head coach.
Speaker 4 (14:20):
Any day now, I don't know any week. Definitely at
the end of the season.
Speaker 3 (14:24):
But my god, eight seven, seven ninety nine on Fox
eight seven seven nine nine six sixty three sixty nine.
It is the odd couple on a Magic City Monday,
and I'm steaming hot. Rob Parker kelvin Washington right here
on Fox Sports Radio Stick and stay.
Speaker 4 (14:45):
Mu's for some reason, you think Otani's the greatest in
the US. Evan, yeah, the rest of the world. That's
all right. People have been wrong before, that's right. Yeah,
Alex almost went through that.
Speaker 3 (14:55):
I know.
Speaker 4 (14:55):
Maybe I'm all right.
Speaker 1 (14:58):

Speaker 4 (17:34):
Ball to the horrible, horrible, well all.
Speaker 1 (17:36):
Time collapse literally the first time in six hundred games,
six hundred and two to be.
Speaker 4 (17:41):
Exact, how abounty sixteen hundred yep.
Speaker 1 (17:44):
One thy six hundred and two games straight that if
someone being up by eighteen with six minutes left, they
win that game except yesterday.
Speaker 4 (17:52):
All right. I think dave Ball should be fired.
Speaker 3 (17:54):
I know people always say rob once everybody fired, Wow,
Sometimes sometimes you have to be fired. You do want
to fire everybody, I really do. I want to fire
people don't do their job. Left teams. All right, Leo
in New York City, you're on the couple of Fox
Sports Radio.
Speaker 4 (18:14):
What's up, Leo division.
Speaker 5 (18:18):
Rob Kelvin. Then it wasn't happy. It was a hard
day yesterday honestly, and Rab, I agree with you. He
needs to be fired because yesterday the guy coached like
someone puts on the hat seat they couch scared like
I understand that. You know you might disagree with like
the play call of your decision coordinator that happened. We
saw cashing in last year. Disagreement. You know, the defensive coordinator,
(18:42):
but has a play called on office? That office at
the end was offensive. I mean, you can't tell that
the guy is scared to lose his job. And quite frankly,
he has to go. It was the perfect storm between
the kicker, missing Kat and everything, but theyve all have
to go. He has to own this.
Speaker 1 (19:00):
Yeah, yeah, and that's the point you Leo, thanks for
the call. That's what I was saying. Rob, that he looks,
you know, you look panicky, like we've all been there
where you know, maybe you don't want something to happen,
You don't want your mom to find your that you
didn't do your homework or your job is just stuff,
and you you look panicky. He looks panicky. The last
few weeks, Like he knows he's coaching for his play,
you know, his job. And so when you start to
(19:21):
do that, it's you know, you scare money, don't make
no money. You're looking scared, you're panicking and uh and
that's reflective. You know, your team feels that, your city
feels that. So it's been obvious to me what he's
what he's how he is coaching in him himself. And
the one silver lining for Leo and folks in New York.
And I think thankfully they would say it's dagg it.
(19:41):
We looked like the excitement around these two guys. You
got Scataboo, you got Jackson Dart, you got Elik Neighbors
when he comes back healthy. You got some guys. So
that's also why you don't want to lose that game, right,
not that you're going to the postseason, but you're building
on some things. If your dayball, you're building with this
young core. And that's why him, I don't want I'm
saying last yesterday, you don't want to lose that game because.
Speaker 3 (20:03):
You got something brewing is what you got to You
gotta take a look at the GM and the same
thing you're the GM you got.
Speaker 4 (20:11):
This is a kicker issue that they've had as well. Man,
I'm glad you brought that two extra points cost.
Speaker 3 (20:16):
But this has been going on, like what are you doing?
At some point you gotta go and get a kicker.
It's a big part of the game. People think of
being a kicker is not a big part all. Who
cares about a kicker? You don't mean games are swung
and decide. Have you watched football this year? Exactly? It's
all about kicker fifty yardist galore. That's how and we
(20:36):
talked and that's what essentially happened with the Broncos. They
got down there a couple of passes. We talked about
that on Friday. I believe it was boom, boom, couple
of passes, kick and winningfield.
Speaker 2 (20:45):
Go.
Speaker 1 (20:45):
That's been a lot of that this year. Uh, what
do you call again? Always forget a bloop and a blast.
Speaker 4 (20:51):
A bloop and the blast and baseball. That's that's all
it takes to get back in the game. That's what's happening.
For a bloop, a blast, a couple two passes.
Speaker 3 (20:58):
And the yep and then all of a sudden you're you,
you lose or whatever. Yep, but that was colossal. I
just given that they blew that Dallas game as well
at the end.
Speaker 4 (21:10):
I mean, this is not like a one off.
Speaker 1 (21:12):
This is twice the way they lost that, the way
they lost this game, the way he was panicking in
the blue tank because you cold tell us like, I
need my quarterback off the please here, please, cause I
don't want to lose that, which is ridiculous down like
sometimes so much so that to.
Speaker 3 (21:24):
Find a big fine is coming right from the NFL,
they say, at least reportedly, which we.
Speaker 1 (21:29):
Thought something would come out of it, because it'd be
different if he just peaked his head. And you're right, man,
guy got hurt, peaked his head and yelling, yelling at
the doctor sideline.
Speaker 4 (21:37):
Yeah, you can't. That's compounding it right there.
Speaker 1 (21:40):
Hey, Game seven getting ready to come up here in
about thirty minutes or so. You would think being at
home has its event. It's not the case. We'll explain it.
We come back right now, Steve. The segag gonna get
you set on training, Hey, Steve.
Speaker 2 (21:50):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Odd Couple
with Rob Parker and kelvin Washington weekdays at seven pm
Eastern four pm Pacific on Fox Sports RADO and the
iHeartRadio app.
Speaker 4 (22:02):
All right, Steve, appreciate you.
Speaker 1 (22:03):
It's the Akaba Rod Parker covin Washington on a Magic
City Monday.
Speaker 4 (22:07):
Again.
Speaker 1 (22:07):
You got thirty nine minutes to Game seven. Uh, should
be a good one. Hopefully it'll be a good one,
that's for sure.
Speaker 4 (22:13):
All right. So so I'm hoping for it's a good one.
Speaker 3 (22:16):
Sometimes it could be blowouts, and it happens. Yeah, I mean,
somebody comes ready and somebody doesn't. And as always it's
about pitching. But Rob, do you have stats about the
Game seven?
Speaker 6 (22:29):
Yeah, if you are a Toronto Blue Jays fan, you
might want to turn down the radio because this is
not looking good.
Speaker 3 (22:35):
Mike what Mike Tyson would tell you what.
Speaker 6 (22:44):
That's why north of the border turn off your station.
So Game seven tonight, series tied three to three. Everybody's like, hey,
blue Jays are at home. Blue Jay should be favored.
They are favored in Vegas. They're gonna win Game seven.
They're gonna face the Dodgers in the World Series. Only
one problem. Home teams have lost seven of the last
(23:05):
eight Game seven in the MLB postseason, including five consecutive.
Speaker 4 (23:12):
That that is incredible.
Speaker 3 (23:13):
And as we said before, but there's no home field
in baseball. I don't you know what I mean, It
just isn't you know. It gives people momentum in baseball.
Who's your starting pitcher that night, and if he's better
than the other guy, you got a great chance to win.
And that's why these numbers are what they are, because
(23:36):
if you got your race going and he pitches a gem,
you got a way better shot. Depending on who's pitching
on the other side. A lot of it has to
do with that. Not always, but a lot of it
has to do with that. And if you don't get it,
it doesn't matter. But that is an incredible number. There's
no way if you ask somebody beforehand, knowing what they are,
they would.
Speaker 4 (23:56):
Have never guessed that it's that dominant for the visitor.
So I'm looking it up NFL.
Speaker 1 (24:00):
Since the NFL adopted its current twelve team playoff format
nineteen ninety, home teams are fifty eight and thirty.
Speaker 4 (24:08):
Make sure I get that right. At basically, let me
look at that right. Try to get the percentage.
Speaker 1 (24:13):
I'm gonna get the percentage of home games versus in
baseball because that's the thing. We talk about this in basketball.
We talk about this in football. You want to have
home field eventage. It feels like whor home court in
basketball feels like a difference. Baseball is different. You and
I sit up here. We've had conversations about the Yankees
spend a bunch of money, the Mets spend a bunch
of money. That doesn't mean you're guaranteed anything in baseball, right,
(24:35):
and so being at home in baseball, it's just a
flukey game. If you've got the better starter, doesn't necessarily
matter who's at home. If your guys been hot, it
doesn't matter if you're show hey, you were struggling and
all of a sudden you break free. Let's say Friday
were Game seven. What are you gonna do? You know,
if you're the Brewer. So baseball is just different. You
can't kind of compare it to basketball and football. Basketball,
(24:56):
you can go into the second half down twenty and
be like, as long as we start the fourth quarter
down eight or nine, we're good in this thing.
Speaker 4 (25:04):
Football we just saw we talked about the Broncos.
Speaker 1 (25:06):
Baseball, if you get down three or four in the
third or fourth inning, it's hard.
Speaker 3 (25:10):
Well the crowd. The crowd turns on you right away.
And I think I just think there's more pressure on
the home team.
Speaker 4 (25:18):
I really do, Like you're playing if you're the visitor.
Speaker 3 (25:20):
You're kind of like, well, we're on the road, nobody
expects to really come in here and do this, and
we can just play. The other guys I think are
a little more tight. But but it does still depending
on the pitching. I think that's a big part of that.
That's a huge part of it. Yeah, just the pitching,
not making mistakes, not making turnovers and stuff like that,
(25:42):
and I think that's where we are. So excuse me, yep,
this will be interesting. I don't I don't want to say,
like I think I figured. I had figured that Seattle
would win when they won those first two games in Toronto.
Speaker 4 (26:00):
I mean, that is a huge advantage. And obviously when
they went home they.
Speaker 3 (26:03):
Lost two out of three, but I thought that that
was huge that they won those two and the idea
that they've won in Toronto, and they slugged in Toronto,
what they scored nine or ten runs in one game,
so they've played there and they won. That's in the
back of your heads as well. And I think if
you're them, you have to be aggressive, not swing yourself out,
(26:26):
you know what I mean, like just swinging on the
first pitch and getting yourself out.
Speaker 4 (26:30):
But you need to be aggressive.
Speaker 3 (26:31):
Early on and try to put some runs on the
board and put the pressure on the home team right well,
as quickly as you can.
Speaker 1 (26:42):
When you talk about by the way, real quick. This
Monday night game, fourth and two at the twelve, the
Lions could have they could have just kicked the field goal.
Speaker 4 (26:50):
Instead they go for it.
Speaker 1 (26:51):
See this is when and you know I'm not getting
every now and again, Dan Campbell, you gotta just say, well,
this one makes more sense.
Speaker 4 (26:59):
We be up to score, you kick the field goal.
There's no reason to dude that I get it. Fourth
and one. It was like fourth and two or three.
It's the fourth quarter, I mean the first quarter.
Speaker 1 (27:09):
Take the game. You take the three, and this is
coming from me. You take the three, because now that
will have been three possessions where you should have been up.
You got in the red zone three and now you're
only up seven to nothing and the Bucks go down
the score and it's a tie game and they're feeling
good about themselves. This is where Dan Campbell to me,
and this is coming from me, does worry me that
(27:30):
understanding you don't have to do something one hundred percent
of the time.
Speaker 4 (27:33):
This can be what you do. It's just a bad
call here.
Speaker 1 (27:35):
I'm just but you. It's okay to say we'll take
the three. Clap your hands. Good defense playing great. D
you take the three? That just yet, So you're playing
against a guy who's an MVP candidate who can light
things about the blue. Your defense been playing great. Reward
them by getting points, you know what I mean? Reward
the defense by getting points sometimes rewarding it. Just that
it isn't just going for it to say we believe
(27:56):
in you know, anybody putting points on the board anyway.
Quick thing too with this going back to this game seven.
Vlagarrero Junior, who's been absolute monster this entire postseason. He
pulled up in Game seven today feeling good. He had
on Austin Matthews Jersey who was a Maple League player
and you know, representing the city Toronto.
Speaker 3 (28:17):
T you already know first of all in Toronto and
the Maple Leafe, we already know where that all.
Speaker 4 (28:22):
Do you know where that's going?
Speaker 1 (28:23):
The least are only seven in game sevens over the
last twenty years, and Aunty Matthews has never won a
winner take all game. So if there's an omen he
picked the wrong thing in a jersey or his wardrobe
stylist was setting them up.
Speaker 3 (28:35):
But I'll give you this man and Rob g please
look it up. But the Toronto maple Leae, I'm guessing
haven't won a Stanley Cup since like nineteen sixty seven
or something of that.
Speaker 4 (28:48):
Ilk, Rob g, am my off.
Speaker 3 (28:50):
It's been forever and a day like, they haven't won
in a long time.
Speaker 4 (28:54):
The Mayple lice and maybe I'm going too far back.
Speaker 3 (28:57):
Well sixty second, Come on, man, I was off the
top of my dome.
Speaker 4 (29:01):
That was a good pool.
Speaker 3 (29:02):
Okay, they they haven't won and that's a hockey hosp
spart right. Can you imagine how in the world could
the could the map police happen once since nineteen sixty seven?
Speaker 4 (29:14):
That's crazy.
Speaker 1 (29:14):
A non hockey person would definitely lose that bad because
you just you think think that they were what they
do is their sport, not saying they went at the time,
but they won one in eighty eight, they won one
in ninety two. You would think something like that sixty
seven day. Well you know what they get series night,
that's some new odd couple listeners are listening right now.
Two brothers and they're saying no.
Speaker 3 (29:33):
They said, I thought Rob was black, but after that pool,
there's no way is he black.
Speaker 4 (29:39):
But telling them you went Detroit hockey town. Thank you.
Tell them you hockey town for twenty years or whatever, Alex.
Speaker 3 (29:46):
That's why they hired me for the Free Press as
a columnist. Because when I went in there and I am,
you know, they're interviewing me and all that we're talking,
I know it's hockey town, and we talked about hockey.
Speaker 4 (29:59):
Because they are gonna hire a general sports car. He's
got to be able to cover the.
Speaker 3 (30:02):
Wings, football, baseball, baseball, hockey, the big ones. Everybody seemingly
can cover football and basketball, but can you cover baseball
and can you cover hockey? And when I told him
who the backup goaltender for the New York Islanders was
during their Stanley Cup run when they won four Stanley
Cups in a row. Billy Smith was the main was
(30:24):
the star goaltender, but Glenn Chico Rush was the backup.
When I said that, they looked at each other and
said I think that's when I got the job. They
like this dude knows who the backup they know who
the backup goaltender is.
Speaker 4 (30:39):
That's a good point. Nah. And you know what.
Speaker 3 (30:41):
My first year in Detroit, I live right next door.
I lived at the riverfront, Okay. I had a beautiful
view of Canada, which is unbelieved. I had an ocean
view around over a.
Speaker 4 (30:55):
River view of Canada.
Speaker 3 (30:57):
I had an apartment, one bedroom, seven hundred dollars, unbelievable
international view in downtown Detroit International. I had no drapes
on my windows.
Speaker 4 (31:09):
I saw the.
Speaker 3 (31:09):
Ambassador Bridge at my landscape, you know, on my view,
and I was like, are you kidding me?
Speaker 4 (31:17):
So it was right next to Joe Louis Ariena. Huh.
Speaker 3 (31:19):
My first year at the Free Press, I went to
thirty eight of the forty one home games.
Speaker 1 (31:26):
Thirty eight of the forty one home game. I mean,
you're sitting there having a little chicken dinner. You're like, no,
I might as well go to the game right here.
Plus they got the press room food.
Speaker 4 (31:34):
Why not? Oh you know you ain't turning that down?
Oh god, oh god, it was unbelievable. I'm so disappointed, right, now.
Speaker 1 (31:40):
Well, anyway, Game seven coming up in about twenty something minutes,
so it should be a good one. But if that's
open with Laddie Daddy come home, broh, somebody didn't shoot it.
Somebody was supposed to tell him before he got up
the car. Hey man, you know the maple leafs oh
and seven. You might not want to wear that, hey man,
you know specifically Matthews ain't did nothing either.
Speaker 4 (31:58):
You want to just go.
Speaker 1 (31:58):
Ahead, take it up, but you gotta white he shirt
upon air. Just wear a white T shirt. Just wear
Kawhi something like that. Go do something else. Yeah, right,
Kawhi kawuhide won just he dag near better off with
a drake jersey on. You're right, I got too. I
went to got carried away right there playing today Shekel
City as well. Plus it's not good down in Miao.
(32:21):
We'll explain. It's the O Couple. Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 2 (32:23):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Odd Couple
with Rob Parker and kelvin Washington weekdays at seven pm
Eastern four pm Pacific on Fox Sports Radio and the
iHeartRadio app.
Speaker 4 (32:35):
I need some context.
Speaker 1 (32:37):
I am moist after that, my Mia, It's the Odd couple.
Rob Parker kelvin Washington, Magic City, mondays, big little gig yup.
Speaker 4 (32:50):
Got Game seven coming up in about twenty minutes or so.
Speaker 1 (32:52):
Right now, you are just early second quarter of this
Monday night football. The Lions have they brought their own
thirty up seven to nothing on the bucks right now.
Keep you update on that when I'm still frustrating Robs
and hearing me complain about Dan Campbell Gamble right now
making me mad.
Speaker 4 (33:06):
Dan Gamble's doing too much Texan points. It's okay to
texta points every now and again.
Speaker 3 (33:12):
They guys in the NFC Championship game. They may never
get back there.
Speaker 1 (33:16):
Oh gosh, it's okay. It's okay. You can take a
field go every now and again. I promise you won't
hurt you. It's all right to do so. All right,
it is now time for your tire wreck play of
the day, an.
Speaker 3 (33:25):
Attempt to thirty nine yards for the win, snap placement
kick on away.
Speaker 4 (33:32):
It is good.
Speaker 3 (33:35):
Bronco players celebrating, right, they just want a home playoff game.
Speaker 4 (33:42):
Well, let's settle down. It was the Giants.
Speaker 3 (33:44):
No, but but that's how that's how big that a collapse.
It was with a John Likes seriously, like, there's no
way you think you should win that.
Speaker 1 (33:52):
Game, Broncos Radio. There, of course, tire Rack Player of
the Day brought to you by a tire Rack. For
over forty years, tire Rack has been helping customers find
the right tires for how, what and where they drive.

It is the way tire buying should be. Still a
epic colapse. Yeah and uh wow, And I told you
(34:15):
costs day ball his job with Mike and and your
boy Bo Nicks. Hadn't heard of one up J J. Mccarthur.
We thought we saw had seen it all in that
four quarter performance. All right, it's time now for Shekel City.
Speaker 2 (34:26):
Welcome to Shekel City, the home base for Rob Parker's
daily picks against the Spread.
Speaker 4 (34:34):
Did I knew that? Did I knew that? Did I
knew that?
Speaker 2 (34:42):
Well?
Speaker 4 (34:42):
I know you lost one because you picked the Dodgers
to lose. No, no, no, that wasn't that. That wasn't
that wasn't sheckl sitting.
Speaker 3 (34:48):
Okay, All right, here we go. I was one and
one maybe I don't know what was in that last week.
Speaker 4 (34:53):
I gotta look one and one mark.
Speaker 3 (34:56):
Record is now forty three and forty one oh five hundred.
Oh god, I'm taking the start. We're gonna go with
Seattle plus one and a half. I got Seattle tonight,
not the only covert in one and a half, but
to win. I do also Tampa Bay plus six, that
down by seven, Tampa Bay plus six in Detroit taking.
Speaker 4 (35:19):
On the Lion.
Speaker 1 (35:20):
I mean looking good right now. I'm just Dan Campbell's
making me upset right now.
Speaker 3 (35:24):
And I got Seattle minus three taking on the Texans.
So here we go, Seattle minus three as far as
the Seahawks, Tampa Bay plus six against the Lions, and
the Mariners plus one and a half in Toronto to
(35:47):
take on the Blue Jays. And remember Calvin, what's that.
I'm not telling you who to bet on. What you
tell me, I'm.
Speaker 4 (35:54):
Telling you who I bet on.
Speaker 3 (35:57):
Imagine being in Seattle tonight out the Seahawks are playing
at home, and the Mariners obviously are trying to get
to their first World Series.
Speaker 4 (36:06):
I'm sorry.
Speaker 3 (36:07):
If I had tickets, I could not be going to
the Seahawks game tonight.
Speaker 4 (36:11):
If I know everybody. You know what I mean.
Speaker 3 (36:12):
And if I have tickets, I'm serious, not only just going.
Speaker 4 (36:16):
You're saying, if I had tickets, I would not go.
I would stay at home and watch.
Speaker 3 (36:20):
No, I couldn't be in the stands, not for a
city that's never seen their team go. This is a
regular season game. I'm not knocking it. And you got tickets.
I'm just saying, if I'm not home to watch that
and I'm in the stands, it's some football game. The
only hesitation against the Texans that don't doesn't mean anything
right now.
Speaker 1 (36:39):
The only hesitation I might have is NFL tickets are
so expensive right now, like crazy expensive.
Speaker 4 (36:46):
Their team's never been.
Speaker 1 (36:48):
It's like, and what happens if they lose and I
didn't go to the game, Rob, No, I'm double sick.
Speaker 3 (36:52):
I'm at home and then the Seahawks lose too today,
That's what I'm saying.
Speaker 1 (36:56):
No, I'm just saying, if I don't go in this game,
the Mariners lose nine.
Speaker 3 (37:00):
I want to experience the whole thing, not being in
a football crowd jumping around because they put it on
the board and you see that celebration, I just that
might be lit.
Speaker 1 (37:10):
To the Seahawks beating down the Texans. They putting it
up on the jumper guard. We're up four to it.
I got the eighth, I got it going crazy. I
gotta be either at home or I got to be
at the ballpark.
Speaker 4 (37:21):
Robgi, where are you at on that, rob Gie? You're
in Seattle.
Speaker 1 (37:25):
You bucked obviously this game months ago to go see
the Seahawks play the Texans and now the Mariners.
Speaker 3 (37:31):
And what are you doing? You you still going to
the game to take it to the Mariners game. So
you either can go home and watch the or go
to the game and watch it on the jumbo tron.
Speaker 6 (37:41):
Well nowadays a thing called cell phones, or I could
watch both if I wanted to, right, But where.
Speaker 4 (37:46):
Are you watching the game from your God, you're going
to the Seahawks game.
Speaker 3 (37:49):
You're want to watch the Mariners game from the stands
in at the football game?
Speaker 1 (37:54):
Wow, I think sixty five seventy thousand people are gonna
do that.
Speaker 4 (37:58):
However many people fit, I don't know.
Speaker 3 (37:59):
They just wouldn't do it, not on that night, not
not for city, for city that's never been to the
World sit.
Speaker 4 (38:06):
So you're spoiled because you.
Speaker 6 (38:07):
Live in Long it's I know you've been in Seattle.
Seattle is a Seahawk town more than a Mariner town.
Speaker 3 (38:13):
Uh, they won't be because they've never made it well
until for now, until fur their noble. But that's but
that's even more reason why I think people wanting to
see that and experiencing it for the first time because
it's never happened.
Speaker 1 (38:27):
They ain't giving up them tickets, right, Football is king
ab football is to experience. No, that's not, it's exact opposite.
Speaker 3 (38:35):
They actually had to lower the threshold of tickets being
sold to show games because people didn't go. That's what
it used to be. You you grew up in Detroit,
but they used to black out all the games. You
have to sell eighty five percent of the tickets. They
dropped that because they couldn't sell out the games anymore.
People would rather stay at home, and all I'm saying
(38:55):
to you right by hey, football at home. For the record,
football at home is way better. Foll g.
Speaker 4 (39:00):
I'm not I'm wrong.
Speaker 3 (39:01):
People would rather stay at home and watch football because
they could watch more than one.
Speaker 1 (39:05):
Normally, football is not much better sport consumed at home.
Speaker 4 (39:09):
It's become a TV show.
Speaker 1 (39:10):
Baseball for me, is better at the stadium basketball either
or fifty fiet like I'm in different basketball.
Speaker 3 (39:18):
I used to love to watch basketball live. The ticket
prices are so outrageous and just I don't always feel
like I'm getting my money.
Speaker 1 (39:27):
Ticket prices have gone crazy in all sports right now.
That's what I'm saying. If you spent six hundred dollars
on your Seahawks, take five hundred dollars.
Speaker 3 (39:34):
Just spent two thousand for the Lakers Mavericks game when
my family came in.
Speaker 4 (39:38):
Two thousand and the best guys even play.
Speaker 2 (39:41):
No.
Speaker 3 (39:41):
Three out of the four No who didn't play, Uh,
Luca played, and Kyrie and Anthony Davis.
Speaker 4 (39:47):
Lebron was the only one out of the.
Speaker 1 (39:49):
If I made out three out of four, three out
of four didn't play it down, y'all gott to suit up.
I don't care if you just for two shots.
Speaker 4 (39:59):
Let me outs and crazy
