(02:34):
baseball in January? Because that's what it looks like right now.
This open A's Colorado Rocky game right. Welcome to Denver,
My gosh.

Speaker 1 (02:43):
If you don't know, it's uh there, yeah, and it's
snowing and flurries all over the fit the Diamond.

Speaker 5 (02:50):
And have you been to Denver? Yes, Welcome to Denver.

Speaker 1 (02:54):
Welcome to if you just happened, you would think, oh,
I didn't know they played baseball. Oh I think they
hit the back. Oh my gosh, that's close. But yeah,
it almost took the ball to the face.

Speaker 5 (03:05):
So that was crazy.

Speaker 1 (03:06):
But yeah, other than that, man, looking forward, it's a
lot of a lot of a lot of topics, a
lot of good stuff out there. As we know, we
got you know, baseball, as we mentioned in up and Rolling,
we have Women's Final four starting today, we got the
Men's coming up tomorrow, some NBA action, some some trouble
in the NBA. So it's a lot to get to today.
Look forward to it, no doubt.

Speaker 4 (03:25):
Let's welcome into the Odd Couple crew because we wouldn't
be able to do this farm radio poo gam without him.
Alex is our engineer as always, Bo is our producer
and for Rob G. Steve de Seger's at the anchor desk.

Speaker 5 (03:40):
Steve he'll keep us updated throughout the program. And of course.

Speaker 4 (03:45):
Elijah, it's all social media. I know, I'm like, maybe
Alex was sleeping, can't do it, okay, Elijah, who does
a great job for us on Oh yeah, social media.
So a lot to do and let's start with we
talked about this yesterday. John Moran, NBA got it right.

(04:09):
They just said, hey, we rather not. Can you just
knock it off? Just no, you know, we're giving you
just a warning. And what does your guy j'all do?
And this is what I was talking about about being
off the map, like he does it again he does
it and explain.

Speaker 1 (04:27):
So John Morant, you got to go back a couple
of days ago to Rob's point.

Speaker 5 (04:32):
You and I talked about it, as did most people.
You know.

Speaker 1 (04:35):
He did the got into it with the Warriors a
couple of nights back, and he and Buddy Hill did
they Buddy Hill does a whole gun thing to him.
John does it to them he's going to the sideline,
looks like he's got a gun or like, you know,
a little I hate to sound like all the kids
are doing it, but all the kids are doing it,
and they just like a little an NBA universe, right, No,
I'm talking about even in the NBA. So John does

(04:57):
it back. You and I talked about it. Not the
smartest thing, knowing your history. But we'll see what the
league does. Boom yesterday we come in, we talked about it.
The league got it right. They say, hey, man, as
you mentioned, don't do that. Looking it can be quote
perceived in a negative light, and that was that we thought,
are good man, job, you know what they understood. He
wasn't trying to be demonstrative with it like that. They
got over We both actually, yeah, let me have to

(05:18):
give you credit for getting it right. What does he
do last night?

Speaker 5 (05:21):
Rob?

Speaker 1 (05:23):
He went ahead and did it again, oh, and then
again and then allegedly thrice. But the allegedies because it
didn't air on the broadcast. But if you're in the arena,
people saw it. So the league goes ahead and they
fined him seventy five thousand dollars for it.

Speaker 4 (05:40):
And rightfully, so we talked about it before. You can
do anything you want when you're not wearing a team's
uniform and they're paying you millions of dollars. There's standards,
there's rules, there's a CBA, there's a Malls.

Speaker 5 (05:53):
Clause, do you know what I mean? Like like it
goes with it.

Speaker 4 (05:56):
You notice, being in a televisional rating, you know certain
things you can't do. It doesn't even on even on
your social page and even on your off time, your
own thoughts or whatever. You represent a company, an organization,
and I just I don't I think John's are lost,
cause I'm starting to believe that why would you do

(06:18):
that considering all he's been through and they didn't do
anything they want, you know, gave him a warning and
it was there a quote that he I don't care.

Speaker 5 (06:28):
Did you see that bo.

Speaker 4 (06:31):
He said that, Yeah, I just I just saw like
a flash.

Speaker 5 (06:36):
I didn't see. Yeah I didn't. I didn't see that.

Speaker 4 (06:39):
But I'm just saying, like, like, if I'm the NBA,
I throw my hands up and just say, do we
really want to promote this guy? Put him out front,
want this guy to be one of the faces of
the league, or just somebody that gets it.

Speaker 5 (06:55):
He I don't think he gets it.

Speaker 1 (06:57):
It is a complex story with him because us again,
you go back to the stuff that's happened two years
ago and then we go to this season, and I
think what we're dealing with here is is Jah not
understanding the difference between self inflicted trouble versus out to
get you trouble, meaning like people are just out against them.

Speaker 5 (07:19):
How somebody gives you a warning inside, That's what I'm saying.

Speaker 1 (07:23):
So self inflicted is you put yourself in this situation
multiple times, having real live guns in clubs, drunk, intoxicated,
flashing the gun online, get in trouble for that, but okay, fine,
we kind of move on. Got the gun on your
Instagram live. These are real, live issues that you put
yourself in. Those are self inflicted trouble issues right there,

(07:45):
self inflicted inflicted problems. And what it seems like because
after the on the other day, when we go okay,
you know the league got it right. Ja Morant actually
put up a story on his Instagram and he said, quote,
some people will only love you if you fit in
their box. Don't be afraid to disappoint. And again I

(08:08):
get the feeling John Morant feels like the league is
out to get him. People are out to get him,
you know, media is out to get him, when in fact,
I don't think that's the case at all.

Speaker 5 (08:18):
I think the media would love.

Speaker 1 (08:19):
For you to be one of those guys because you
were personable, you dance, you smiled, your electric style of play.
I think the NBA wanted you to be one of
the faces because you got a great smile, you're electric,
your electric style of play, your fun and I think
they looked at you as yes, we got a new
crop of young guys we can promote. I don't think
the league was out to get you. I don't think
the media is out to get you. I don't think

(08:41):
people are trying to portray you as a villain. Now
that people probably go too far questioning your character. Yes,
that people probably go too far trying to, you know,
break down and have thesis on who you are and
trying to be gangst the Maybe so, and I can
see how that would be offensive. But the league gave
you another chance, a little slap on the wrist, and
you did it not once, but twice, and allegedly thrice

(09:02):
in the game the very next day, you just did
it in their face. And it's just it's just not smart.
And I know he was doing it to his own sideline.
It doesn't matter they told him not to do it. It
doesn't matter who he's doing it to. They already warned you,
did they gave you a.

Speaker 4 (09:17):
Warning, don't do this, and he turned and he did it,
and he did it anyway.

Speaker 1 (09:21):
And the amount of times matter to me, because we
are creatures of habit.

Speaker 4 (09:25):
Rob no, no, no, Once somebody brings it to your attention,
but I hear he's an adult.

Speaker 5 (09:31):
Come on, man, you're the only reason why I say
way too.

Speaker 1 (09:33):
Le. I said that though, right right now, we're watching baseball,
right literally, those guys are guys routine, you know, this
maybe more than any other sport. So if a guy
comes up, you know, hits his shoes with his bat
and then he does like a on some little motion
that they say, hey, you can't do.

Speaker 5 (09:48):
He's done it hundreds of thousands of times. That's what
that's his thing.

Speaker 1 (09:51):
So I'm even saying, maybe John hits it and looks
at his teammates and does because he thinks, oh, I'm
not doing it.

Speaker 5 (09:56):
I'm not doing it to the opposing team. I think
you're being lenient. So hear me, but he just hear me.

Speaker 3 (10:00):
Hear me.

Speaker 4 (10:01):
Where I'm going with this, No, because they didn't say
to anybody, don't do it, is what they said, right.

Speaker 1 (10:05):
But I'm saying, if he's only thinking they mean, don't
mean in a taunting, demonstrative way, like I'm just doing
it to my teammates. Yeah, our little celebration, then you
could say, all right, maybe the first time because you know,
he thought, just do it to me. There's no way
someone on the team doesn't go hey, man, assistant coach. Hey, hey, hey, hey,
hey jod, you just got in trouble. Let's chill. No way, coach,

(10:25):
no way. Somebody doesn't tell him, hey man, even to
us in a fun cool which your teammates way, don't
do that either.

Speaker 4 (10:32):
And so if I'm if I'm Memphis ownership and management,
I got I gotta question myself. Do I really want
to go forward with jam you have I'm dead serious.

Speaker 5 (10:41):
He's having a great year when he's been healthy. But
I'm but I'm dead But it's a it's a real conversation,
like maybe.

Speaker 4 (10:47):
Like he's just not for Memphis or this organization, or
he needs a clean start up somewhere else.

Speaker 5 (10:54):
What would you do if you were in the front
office on owner?

Speaker 4 (10:58):
Is it time to move Jama Ran or is it
time to just say we just got to move the
guy and get the best we can or do something
else because something's not connecting here, Like he went through
the suspension, came back you know when he plays he's fine, Yeah,
and then to have this winn and then to come
back and do the same exact thing when they tell

(11:20):
you not to do it, it's disheartening. I don't know
what he's been suspended, he's gone through all this stuff.
And the more you do it, the more you soil
your name and reputation. It's it's who wants who wants
uh you to sponsor anything.

Speaker 1 (11:34):
Or be there sposed to keep getting it, and it's
easier things to eliminate. Right, They're not asking him, Hey,
don't you know no dog like the Cutch of dreads.
It's like, oh, hold on, like that's a person they're saying,
just don't do the gun. Now here's where it is interesting.
If I'm gonna play Devil's advocate. The NBA now is
gonna have to do something that because he's a star.

(11:55):
Multiple guys have done this around the league all season,
all last season. It's cool thing to do. But because
they don't have star names like him, we don't necessarily
see it and it doesn't get put out there, and
they don't have the track record as him. Now, the NBA,
what they're gonna have to do rob It is gonna suck,
But they're gonna have to almost remember how because of

(12:16):
Alan Iverson and all the perceived hip hop style of
dressing and had gone too far with the jewelry and
the jerseys and the oversized clothes and all do rags
at the press conferences. I think they're gonna have to
come back and make a stark, hard stance on this,
because then it starts to become if you're the NBA, pah,
if you're you know, maybe just even an agent for

(12:38):
job or somebody else, you say, well, he did it,
he did it, he did it.

Speaker 5 (12:41):
No, what's four minute video of this guy? This guy,
this guy, this guy, this guy? What guy doence is?

Speaker 4 (12:46):
And the NBA does look at your track record, your
history with guns and the whole nine yards. And they
already gave him a warning. They didn't do anything. I
mean like, if they would have did something find him
and not Buddy Heal, then you got an argument, you
got a case.

Speaker 5 (13:03):
But they told both of them, just don't do it.

Speaker 4 (13:05):
But what I'm from doing it? And he still did it.
Buddy Heal didn't go out and do it. I don't know,
but I'm just saying. My point is, if you're in
the NBA, I would throw my hands up and say, Okay,
we can't get through to this kid.

Speaker 1 (13:17):
So I agree with that, I'm saying, So he's fine,
I'm okay, I'm fine, I f I I and he
with the fine, right, I'm fine with that. I'm saying,
what do you do now, let's say he's they've already
told you they don't want you to do it.

Speaker 4 (13:29):
So now what they'll do is they'll find every time
they have video of somebody doing it and they catch them,
they are going to fine.

Speaker 1 (13:37):
And that's what they've addressed severely enough, meaning Buddy Hill
and Job were warned, but we didn't make a public thing.
And I'm thinking they're gonna have to do that because
I watch.

Speaker 5 (13:49):
Even last night.

Speaker 4 (13:50):
I'm sure they sent an email, uh to to the teams.

Speaker 5 (13:55):
That's also because because.

Speaker 4 (13:56):
They gave a warning to two players, then they would
send one league wide.

Speaker 5 (14:01):
This is the NBA.

Speaker 4 (14:02):
They don't want you to do this, blah blah blah blah.
I don't doubt that for one second. If you're gonna
make a stake and warn people that you wouldn't.

Speaker 1 (14:10):
Want all the play and that's what they're gonna have
to do, is my point, because it's such commonplace. It's
just he has this track record and the greatest example
again is a Draymond Green hard file. Draymond's gonna get
suspended way over. You know, Austin's because he has a
history in the track record, and that.

Speaker 4 (14:28):
Me, track record is always in play even when you're
a good guy.

Speaker 5 (14:32):
If you're a good guy, your track record record in
favor exactly. So's it works both ways.

Speaker 4 (14:38):
It does if you're a good guy, benefit of like that,
Oh yeah, we don't this guy does never do anything dirty.
We're gonna assume that it was a mistake and it
wasn't dirty because he's never done anything dirty.

Speaker 5 (14:46):
Draymond kicking people, stepping on what's new. This is what
he does.

Speaker 1 (14:50):
What he have video evidence for years and ex years exactly.
I just think it's disappointing.

Speaker 7 (14:54):
Man.

Speaker 1 (14:54):
John had an opportunity to put it behind him because
they were like, what he's been doing, Well, one little thing,
we're gonna forgive you. Don't do the game, move on
to do it three times in their face the very
next day. Rob, not a month later, a week later,
next start of next season, a week later. That's just
what you know, what we call it, that's playing in
people's faces. It is you know eight seven seven ninety
nine on Fox eight seven seven nine nine six sixty

(15:18):
three sixty nine. If you were ownership management of the

Speaker 4 (15:24):

He's too talented. You gotta live with it? Or are
you ready to? Are you or are you ready to

new place and a fresh start somewhere else. What are

John Morant went full job Wick again and here we
are Rob and ire twenty four hours have to say, hey,
you know what the NBA got to ride And you
know John and wasn't trying to be demonstrative with bab
did it again and now we gotta talk about a game.
Rob eight seven seven ninety nine on Fox. What do
you do if you're the Grizzlies? What do you do
if you're you know, someone who's in Jos's life? How
do you what do you say?

Speaker 5 (17:16):
What do you do?

Speaker 1 (17:16):
Who?

Speaker 4 (17:16):
We got Casey in Oregon? You're in the eye couple,
Fox Sports Radio. What's up, Casey?

Speaker 8 (17:23):
Shot? Rob's up, Calvin, thanks for taking my call, Yes, sir, Yeah,
Memphis is in a tough spot here because you gotta
think too the one person you think that could get
to Joe but maybe his dad. But we see him
at in a full right on the sidelines, right.

Speaker 3 (17:41):
But then I think you gotta stick with him because
you gotta think how you're gonna get free agents to
come to Memphis in the first place. So they're in
a very tough spot moving forward here.

Speaker 4 (17:53):
No, I get that, but at some point you gotta
cut bait because he's not like Da Mooy does is
to the harder it is to sell him.

Speaker 5 (18:02):
Do you get me?

Speaker 1 (18:03):
It's just hard, Rob. I mean, he's averaged thirty over
his last nine games. Like, where are you gonna get
replace a top ten talent? I'm not you know, maybe
he's anywhere between eight and thirteen forty minute talent.

Speaker 5 (18:15):
Asked Luca's got traded?

Speaker 9 (18:17):
Will?

Speaker 5 (18:17):
Okay?

Speaker 4 (18:18):
I know, but I'm just trying to say that it
can be done. If they could trade Luca. They can
trade John Moran, let's talk. He could get traded.

Speaker 1 (18:25):
But man, that's I need to return on the dollar
is I'm not trying to get sixty cents on.

Speaker 5 (18:29):
That dollar in Phoenix. You're on the couple of Fox
Sports Radio. What's up? Cute?

Speaker 8 (18:34):
Hey, what's happening to Fellers?

Speaker 5 (18:35):
What's up? What's up?

Speaker 10 (18:36):
I just moved.

Speaker 8 (18:38):
I just moved a needle for y'all. Man, for me
being on the show, I appreciate it.

Speaker 10 (18:42):
Anyway, he flexed.

Speaker 1 (18:44):
It's a flexing Friday, ax flexing on this Friday. He
got hey rob his lady Ryan when he's watched his boots,
She's like, what you're gonna do? He's like me flex,
watch me flex on a Friday.

Speaker 8 (18:59):
No.

Speaker 3 (18:59):
But I disagree with the previous caller about his father.

Speaker 8 (19:03):
His father is not acting a fool. His father is
having some fun with his son. But I do wish
that he would talk to his son say hey, man,
enough is enough.

Speaker 10 (19:14):
If I was the mespshis visit the owner, I wouldn't
trade him because.

Speaker 8 (19:19):
I really do believe that he's gonna grow out of this.

Speaker 3 (19:22):
I don't know.

Speaker 4 (19:22):
I don't know how he was suspended, lost money, he did,
you know, keeps doing the same thing. Q.

Speaker 1 (19:30):
We lost him the thing he did it the night before.
And that's the one problem. Let's say you and I
talked about two days ago. Let's say we didn't out
of my man, he's gonna grond it. Look, man, Rob,
when you were twenty two to twenty three, you're acting fool.
I was acting for you know how ye? Okay, the
very next night is where it's like que even Q,
come on c you that next night.

Speaker 5 (19:48):
Na, that's when you're doing it deliberately. The next night
it is crazy. Andre. In Massachusetts, you're on the couple
of Fox Sports Radio. What's up?

Speaker 9 (19:56):
Dright, Hey, thanks taking a call, Happy Friday, great great topics.

Speaker 10 (20:03):
Listen.

Speaker 9 (20:03):
Now I'm gonna go with what Bill Parcells said. Okay,
NFL championship winning you are, what's your record sends you are.
That's who you are, whether win on the on the court,
field or in life. You know what we see consistently
that's who you are. And what we know as well
is money only makes you more of who you've been
all along.

Speaker 5 (20:21):
No doubt, Andre, no doubt.

Speaker 4 (20:24):
And we talk about all the time from the Sacramento
Kings who am I talking about? Kings who didn't get
the big two hundred and six million dollars the air
Fox No, the big guy, Oh DeMarcus cousin DeMarcus. You
remember they were like, dude, we can't control things. Now,
wait till we give them two hundred and six million dollars.
And what happened.

Speaker 5 (20:43):
They decided against it and the talent was so dre
You're right.

Speaker 4 (20:48):
And that's what happens when you give people a lot
of money who can't follow rules or just can't comprehend
what you're trying to do.

Speaker 5 (20:56):
Shows more who you really are. That's what people say.
We'll get on more we want to do.

Speaker 4 (21:00):
Yeah, we squeezed one more in Alex in Indiana. You're
in the couple of fox Sporituato. What's up, Alex?

Speaker 10 (21:07):
How you doing? Fellas doing well? Listen, second time caller.

Speaker 5 (21:11):
Appreciate you, sir, know that.

Speaker 10 (21:14):
Okay. I want to say, Kelvin, you're doing a good job.
I love Christmas. You're also doing a good job. But
I have to say on this you being a little
lenient because Jos know what it is. And when the
league says don't do it, don't do it. The league
should suspend him for the rest of the year and
management should move on. And also, job, you're not a gangster.

(21:35):
Stop playing right, You're a billionaire.

Speaker 1 (21:38):
You're a millionaire basketball. This one ain't a gangster. Move
the guns, the rim life guns.

Speaker 5 (21:42):
I'll give you that.

Speaker 1 (21:43):
This is just being done like being dumb, ignoring what
the league has asked you not to do. I agree
with that. I don't think this one is a gangster.
I think is more of a I'm gonna do like
That's like he said in his own posts on Instagram
and stories. You don't have to you know, don't fit
in the box and all that.

Speaker 5 (21:57):
I think he's doing way. I just don't.

Speaker 4 (21:59):
When you when they talk about fitting in a way
too much, come home, they like ask you not to
do something, just like corporate America whatever not. This is
you don't have to do this.

Speaker 5 (22:07):
You don't. You don't, all right.

Speaker 4 (22:09):
So if you're working the post office, they say you
have to wear a uniform, I'm gonna wear when I
ain't fitting in your box.

Speaker 5 (22:14):
No you can't. Well, you're able to deliver mail to
these mailboxes exactly without the uniform one. That is the
part of the job. You don't want to win a uniform.
You can't be a mailman. Steven, read this real quick
before you go to you.

Speaker 1 (22:26):
He said, some people will only love you if you
if you fit into their box. Don't be afraid to disappoint.
He point posted that the night of the first one
a couple you know, two nights ago.

Speaker 6 (22:35):
What So he's fulfilling it because clearly he's not afraid
to disappoint.

Speaker 5 (22:39):
Why this is all very dissapaiing to go, Steve the Sager?
What's turning? Brother? Hey?

Speaker 11 (22:43):
We do have another Aaron Judge home run today?

Speaker 5 (22:46):
Is that's six and eight games? How many games?

Speaker 8 (22:48):
Is?

Speaker 2 (22:48):
It?

Speaker 7 (22:49):
Is?

Speaker 5 (22:49):
Six?

Speaker 6 (22:49):
And there are teams that don't have six this early season.
And this is game one thousand of his career. So
a longtime baseball writer, Bob Nightingale points out Babe Ruth
in his first thousand games, three hundred and twenty one homers.

Speaker 11 (23:01):
Aaron Judge three hundred and twenty one homers.

Speaker 1 (23:03):
Oh wow?

Speaker 11 (23:04):
The other day as a Yankee first thousand, right.

Speaker 4 (23:06):
The first thousand, that bet that's incredible when you think
of like where Babe Booth is. And I'm gonna say
this theve I'm gonna get the video at FS one.
I made a video about five or six years ago.
Five years ago when and I put him in my
top five sluggers of all time, and people just went off,
Oh my god, supermature that video.

Speaker 1 (23:28):
He was a prophecty know what he said, You didn't
know that video feels a lot better today.

Speaker 6 (23:33):
Slugging is incredible. I will add Babe bruce career batting
average was three forty two, so that he wasn't like
Pete Alonzo hitting two forty two at a bunch of
home runs. But also Judge Nightingale points out got his
home run total in one hundred fewer plate appearances than Babe.
Ruth irete about game as a Yanks.

Speaker 1 (23:53):
No, he's incredible, and me and Robert talking about a
few days back. At the end of the day, it's
probably just gonna be chalk right. Just put Judge and
MVP's game here, you go, here, you go, guys.

Speaker 5 (24:02):
Just keep them against now, just keep them. But it's
incredible what he's done.

Speaker 6 (24:07):
It is and third out has just been recorded by
the Yankees. It's a final at Pittsburgh. Yankees win nine
for Judge. Now with the six home runs and seventeen.
RBIs already, in fact, how many players in Major League history,
they are team's first seven games of a season have
at least six homers and seventeen.

Speaker 5 (24:27):
I don't think.

Speaker 4 (24:29):
I don't think that's just crazy. That's a ridiculous are
ridiculous numbers.

Speaker 6 (24:32):
Meanwhile, at Philadelphia, the Phills are wearing blue against the
Dodger blue. Apparently every Friday home game last year they
wore the City Connect uniforms, and it's supposed to blue.
The city flag has blue, and so the Phillies are
wearing Okay, you're not the Phillies to me, but sure,
go ahead.

Speaker 4 (24:50):
It was like when the Boston Red Sox were yellow
City Connect the Red Sox that yellow.

Speaker 6 (24:56):
Us the Boston Marathon colors. Okay, okay, you're called the
Red Sox. Let's get our money. You look like la
But okay, it's end of three at Philadelphia. Phil's lead
the Dodgers one nothing on an air in the first
inning by pitcher Yoshinobu Yamamoto. And by the way, the
Dodgers haven't an eight and o record, but the Phillies
are five and one, and earlier we had a Cubs

(25:17):
went over the Padres three to one, Padres with their
first loss this year.

Speaker 5 (25:21):
Back to you, all right, all right, Steve, thank you
so much.

Speaker 1 (25:23):
Appreciate you for coming to you live from the Tireck
dot Com Studios. As always, it is Rob Parker Kevinwashington.
We are the couple on a Fucky Flashback Friday, joined
now by Jared Lee Smith. Fox Sports Radios Countdown on Saturday.
Make sure you check it out nine am to noon
Eastern Standard Time. Jared, what's up, mat what's happening?

Speaker 5 (25:42):
Hey, it's good to talk to you guys. Absolutely, so
help me here.

Speaker 4 (25:48):
The money gambled on women's basketball? Where does it compare
to men's do women? Do people really follow women enough
to bet money on women's by yes.

Speaker 7 (26:01):
I think the Caitlin Clark sensational ride last year kind
of opened the floodgates for women's basketball to be part
of the betting society. I mean, let's be honest, job,
if you bet on any sport, you're going to be
more inclined to watch it and be engaged. And they're
offering more lines on an now like you can bet props,

(26:22):
and I think that really changed the game. The prop
culture has really changed gambling because it's just natural. It's
very you know, aligned with fantasy culture. Like, oh, I
I really like Page Beckers. I'm going to bet on
her to go over her points paid exactly. You don't
have to bet on Yukon and you can still get
a piece of the game.

Speaker 1 (26:38):
What was that money like when when Juju was rolling
obviously before the injury and even post injuries. Yeah, I
was gonna say post injury, did it how Matt, you know,
did it change things?

Speaker 7 (26:46):
It definitely lowered the I would say opportunities for you know,
in a really exciting tournament. I think if if USC
especially uc len now being in the final four, if
you would have had a La connection there and they
still had a chance to get to the final four,
kind had to put everything they had uh to get

(27:06):
past them in that game, and I think that would
have been really exciting. If it would have been Juju
in the final four against UCLA, that would have brought
you know, you don't have a lot of West Coast
teams that win college basketball championships. In fact, on the
men's side, it's a thing how how long it's been
since the teams particular, it really.

Speaker 4 (27:22):
Is right now Jared, Yeah, it is pretty amazing. All right,
let's go to the men's side. I mean, I'm just
figuring Duke is one of those teams. I know a
lot of people hate Duke, but they're a blue blood
and I'm sure the money has to pile up more
because people know the school and uh, they got Cooper flag,
which helps.

Speaker 9 (27:42):
Uh.

Speaker 5 (27:42):
Is that the fact most of the money's bet on Duke? Yeah,
the Duke is he. In fact, we got the results.

Speaker 7 (27:48):
You know, we usually get updates every day, you know,
once or twice a week, you know, when when there's.

Speaker 5 (27:52):
Like a big, big event happening.

Speaker 7 (27:55):
We got some bet MGM splits today and I'll just
read it to you verbatim.

Speaker 5 (27:58):
Duke is the most bet team to cover in the
Final four.

Speaker 7 (28:01):
And yeah, and I think based on what we've seen, right,
Like if this game was played earlier in the year, Rob,
I don't think Duke's a five point favorite over Houston.

Speaker 5 (28:10):
Like remember last year this was flipped.

Speaker 7 (28:12):
Houston was the ones he Houston was the was the
Chalky team, and they you know, they got banged up
in the Sweet sixteen. Jamal Shehed went down and Duke
won the game, and it was a big uh. You know,
I would say reversal because Houston has been the dominant
team over the last few years. But this is I'll
be honest, I think it's a tough matchup for Duke.
I think Cooper Flagg. I mean, you got Tuggler and
Roberts in the middle, Like, this is gonna be a
tough I don't think Duke's seen a defense quite like

(28:34):
Houston all year. Kelvin Samson extra time to prepare. I
do think Duke's a little bit overvalued in this spot.
Now the public's all, you know, hot and bothered over
the Dukies. It feels a little tricky of a spot
just to blindly bet Doude.

Speaker 5 (28:44):
I picked Houston to win the championship. I really like it. Yeah,
that was my original.

Speaker 1 (28:49):
I mean the defense and also too, you mentioned Kelvin Sampson.
Jared Lee Smith Fox Sports Radio Countdown on Saturday, nine
am the noon Eastern Stentard time, our guests here on
the I couple.

Speaker 5 (28:58):
By the way, Jared Smith bets on Twitter aka X.

Speaker 1 (29:03):
You know, going back to what you're just saying that
Kelvin Simpson the last decade has the most wins in
the tournament you know, you don't necessarily think of him
that way, Jared, because he doesn't have the you know,
the big championships to kind of to boat. But he listen, Yeah,
he's been great tournament wise. Let me ask you, Rob,
and I said here and we talked about the last
couple of weeks Cinderella and her glass slipper being shot.

(29:24):
Any when it comes to bets, what are the people
are they are they trying to win more on betting
on an underdog?

Speaker 5 (29:31):
Do people really believe in the Cinderellas?

Speaker 1 (29:33):
Or how's it come when people want to put money
on the underdog throughout the tournament?

Speaker 5 (29:37):
Well, it's funny because the narrative completely flips from the NFL. Right.

Speaker 7 (29:40):
In the NFL, the favorites typically win, and the public
loves to bet the favorites, and when the favorites do win,
the sportsbooks do bad. Usually Well here in March madness, right,
I think the public kind of buys into the Cinderella
and they bet a lot more underdogs.

Speaker 5 (29:57):
So when we.

Speaker 7 (29:58):
Get a year like this where literally no underdogs, right,
I mean it was it was. It was a record
breaking year for the favorites to chalk as we like
to say.

Speaker 5 (30:06):
Yeah, what was the one team that did? There was one.

Speaker 7 (30:09):
It was Nonique, Yeah, Mcneique Thompson was the only underdog
of more than six points to win out right and.

Speaker 4 (30:16):
Colorado's did they bank did they lose it to a
bank shot or something?

Speaker 3 (30:20):
Yeah?

Speaker 5 (30:20):
Colorado, Right, they close on Maryland ended up getting exactly
was that like our only buzzer beater? Yeah, that was
the It was really it really was adult tournament.

Speaker 7 (30:29):
I think overall, it's like college sports has changed so
much in the last three years, it's naive of us
to think the tournament's not going to change in some
capacity based off of that. Were obviously very nostalgic, especially
people like I'm thirty nine years old, Like I've been
watching the tournament since I was twelve. Like I have
these memories of you know, Davidson was Steph Curry, you
know over Oparaiso.

Speaker 5 (30:50):
I think those days are kind of over.

Speaker 4 (30:52):
Yeahed All I do is tell you I watched Magic
and Tournament and I wanted and you know, that was
like the the biggest weighted.

Speaker 5 (31:04):
We only had three channels back then, you know what
I mean. Yeah, And I remember how big that was,
you know what I mean?

Speaker 1 (31:11):
That was the thing for multiple reasons to culturally, uh
just actual gameplay. The two best players players one ones.
You're never gonna see the best.

Speaker 5 (31:22):
Player play for Indiana State anymore. It's just not going
to happen.

Speaker 1 (31:25):
The only reason why I will maybe pump the brakes
on that is because because I look at it and
I don't think Shade or Sanders was the best recruit
or but Travis Hunter was and he goes to.

Speaker 4 (31:37):
Jackson No no, no, no no, but because Dion was there.

Speaker 5 (31:40):
But that that's what I'm saying. So if you get.

Speaker 7 (31:42):
Also different, there's fewer players and there's not as many
transcendent players in basketball at Cooper Flag, we might not
see like it was the last one I would say
would be Zion maybe, like you know, we haven't seen
someone like him very in a long time to be
able to do all of the things well like this
and kind of take the world by storm.

Speaker 5 (31:57):
It's it's interesting.

Speaker 4 (31:58):
In the next hour, no hour three, we're gonna talk
about college top three best college basketball players when we
bring that up, because you know, everybody's going crazy about
Poper Flag.

Speaker 5 (32:10):
But where would you put him? I'm gonna say, I'm
gonna say that.

Speaker 4 (32:13):
I'm just gonna give you one of my guys, okay,
h And I don't think you can leave Christian lead
North from.

Speaker 5 (32:20):
This, I really, I mean, and they're great college players.
The one about Mellow, where would you put Mellow on
the list? That run that he had was brandous. I
think I think it kind of resembles what Duke is
doing right now.

Speaker 4 (32:30):
I mean it was unbelievable. Only Yeah, and we've said
this before. Jim Beahon should be on his hands and
knees thanking me otherwise. Jared fifty two years without a championship.

Speaker 5 (32:41):
Yeah, that's a final four? Is that own stuff?

Speaker 1 (32:44):
I know, But I'm just saying one fifty two years
you didn't know he had a grandson named Mellow, you know,
I mean he better his grandchildren Mellow. Different versions of it, Low, Mellow, Carmelow,
Thank you man. Yeah, it's uh, we gotta down some
fun with that. In bit you want to give us
yours real quick? You have like a little top three
year Mount Rushmore.

Speaker 5 (33:03):
Commun I think got to be in there really already. Really,
I I think I do think.

Speaker 7 (33:11):
You know, based off of his ability to do everything,
you do not see a lot of guys, I do
give him that ability to do everything him and Zach Edie.

Speaker 1 (33:20):
Yeah, I think there here's a problem. Here's the problem.
We'll talk about more. We'll talk about all right, man. Jared,
thank you so much. Appreciate you. Hey, good luck this weekend.
Appreciate all right, Jeredlee Smith, give him and follow Jared
Smith bets and the Game makes you check out fsr's
countdown on Saturday nine am to noon.

Speaker 5 (33:38):
Appreciate him joining the show. We got shekl City.

Speaker 1 (33:40):
Coming up, and then the really good game Lakers Warriors.

purple and goal? We'll talk about it. Robin Kelvin I

and Kelvin on a funky flash back Friday.

Speaker 5 (34:16):
Roight, who the Dodgers playing or not? Whatever? You about
to say? No, they're not. They're playing the U. It's
a softball team. In Philly. It looks because it don't
look like the film? Is that the manager with the
with the regular Phillies on. No, that's gotta be old.
That's that's from spring training on something.

Speaker 1 (34:33):
No, they keep showing the game. Oh that's his parents.
I was about to say, what is going on? What
am I seeing here?

Speaker 5 (34:40):
Yeah?

Speaker 1 (34:40):
But the dad has on a he has on a
I mean he looks like a hitting coach or something
out there.

Speaker 4 (34:46):
Uh yeah, but you don't like the jersey. No, it
looks like a softball uniform. Does right bow your baseball guy?
Does that not look like.

Speaker 5 (34:54):
Because they're red? We're so used to because of the
pants too.

Speaker 11 (34:57):
Honestly, this is one of the city connects that I
don't hate.

Speaker 5 (35:01):
Really like that. I wouldn't say I like it, but
I don't hate it.

Speaker 11 (35:04):
And they're usually pretty bad.

Speaker 4 (35:06):
I'll tell you the new Red Sox one, it's modeled
after the Green Monster.

Speaker 11 (35:12):
Atrocious?

Speaker 5 (35:13):
Is it really?

Speaker 10 (35:13):
Yeah?

Speaker 11 (35:14):
It's bad.

Speaker 5 (35:14):
Okay, those aren't bad.

Speaker 1 (35:16):
If it was like a team who has blue normally,
if they have the.

Speaker 5 (35:21):
Weird yeah, it's just yeah.

Speaker 11 (35:22):
The the new Nationals one is such a huge downgrade
from what they had before. I don't like that one
of them.

Speaker 4 (35:27):
Because they had the like the cherry white in DC.

Speaker 1 (35:31):
Right, so we get that, all right, all right company

Welcome to Shekel City, the whole base for Rob Parker's
daily dicks against the spread.

Speaker 5 (36:00):
How'd you do two and one last night? Almost had
a hat trick. I'll take that, right, Yeah and one,
keep twoing one and you go back.

Speaker 4 (36:07):
Eighty six and ninety is where we stand tonight.

Speaker 5 (36:11):
Let's go.

Speaker 4 (36:12):
I got best bet Denver Nuggets plus one and a
half taken on the Golden State Warriors.

Speaker 5 (36:17):
In San Francisco, just the back to back for the
war I mean the on fire right now, I can't.
I gotta give him that, my gosh.

Speaker 4 (36:24):
Okay, Cleveland Cavaliers minus twelve and a half playing Washington,
the no the Alamo playing the San Antonio Spurn winby
ain't walking through that door, no, no, no, And I
got the Houston Rockets plus five and a half at
the Oklahoma City I mean visiting Oklahoma City's visiting Houston.
I just Houston's been playing. Well, that's a game and

(36:46):
that should be good. And you know, Oklahoma City can't
win every game.

Speaker 11 (36:49):
They're gonna lose.

Speaker 5 (36:50):
Somebody got tell them that. It's unbelievable.

Speaker 4 (36:52):
So again, Houston Rockets plus five and a half, Cleveland
Cavaliers minus twelve and a half, and the Denver Nuggets
plus one and a half. And remember, I'm not telling
you who to bet on. I'm telling you.

Speaker 5 (37:09):
Speaking of the Warriors.

Speaker 1 (37:10):
Man, Warriors beat the Lakers last night in a good game.
Mostly you had some great play from Steph Curry, Lebron,
Austin Reeves and then a couple of the role players
have big nights for the Pojeski being the main one
for the Warriors.

Speaker 5 (37:24):
But but I lost.

Speaker 1 (37:25):
Nonetheless, Man, I tell you what, Just to throw a
couple of numbers out for these Warriors, Dude, they're nineteen
and two when Steph and Jimmy play. This new lineup
that they have, this new starting lineup is thirteen and oh.
Now it's impressive. Now to take that with a grain
of salt for the Warrior fans. Only five of the
games have been against plus five hundred, you know.

Speaker 5 (37:47):
Winning team. He's gonna say that, you know what I
saw two a stat Yeah, and.

Speaker 4 (37:53):
Like a bicker staff And with the Pistons turn around,
like I didn't even realize they're ten and twenty against
teams over five hundred.

Speaker 5 (38:00):
So they won a lot of games.

Speaker 1 (38:01):
But you know what I mean, like that, that's not
a good record, Listen, it's psychological row.

Speaker 5 (38:06):
They just need to win. So now I know.

Speaker 4 (38:07):
But you get my point when you start looking a
little deeper and you get wow, that's and the same
thing with the with the Warriors, Oh they're rolling while
they should be rolling because they're not really playing a
lot of teams.

Speaker 5 (38:20):
Five teams have a winning record that they've beaten.

Speaker 4 (38:23):
And the thing I look at here with the Lakers
is just some of the same issues that have come
up that people talk.

Speaker 5 (38:29):
About whenever they lose.

Speaker 4 (38:30):
And that was a game they were favored and people
thought they should win that game and they didn't. Is
defensively and then Luca had a bad night, was oer
for six from three point yep and had a bad
shooting night those things happen.

Speaker 1 (38:43):
Also the Warriors players that you don't expect Pajenski, Moody
and yes one Draymond Green, they go thirteen of twenty from.

Speaker 5 (38:53):
Three that those nights happened exactly.

Speaker 1 (38:57):
Sometimes you can't bank can't bank on Draymond and Moody,
who the other two or some good air, you know,
most absolutely so, if I if I, that's why it
would be obviously a good series if they were to
actually meet. And I would still put my money on
the Lakers because they gotta win best of seven. But
the Lakers ended up they were like, could never really
get past eight to ten, and then they did at

(39:17):
the last couple of minutes, yep, and they had a chance,
you know, right there, but Steph wouldn't miss. And again
Pojenski twenty something, twenty two, I think it was first half,
like you didn't have that in the game, playing the
scout and playing when you were walking into that ooh
he blasted that.

Speaker 4 (39:31):
So we should do this, uh get ready for our
number two? Oh yeah, oh no, that's I keeps thinking
of two or three.

Speaker 5 (39:40):
Want to get to almost to the point where im
all right, let's just make.

Speaker 4 (39:42):
That no no, no, no, But Carmelo Anthony is coming up.
Were gonna talk about that. He's in the Basketball Hall
of Fame. Remember it's not the NBA Hall of Fame,
it's the Basketball Hall of Fame, and we'll just talk
about you know.

Speaker 5 (39:54):
I like the way he fits phrasing.

Speaker 1 (39:56):
Yeah, you know, you know what I mean if you're
just focusing on his NBA career, because that's the key part.
We always talked about basketball. He's in Olympic basketball college.

Speaker 4 (40:05):
He's won enough fifteens, won three gold medals or whatever,
so he's got no championship.

Speaker 1 (40:09):
Yeah, it's a given totality. We'll talk about that. So
get ready, you mellow people. Yep, that would be some fun.
Get ready to do that and keep you updated on
some of these scores to in MLB.
