believe might be the downfall to the Lions since he
went to Detroit to watch his game versus Cowboys. I
had hope, Martin, until I realized Rob is gonna be there.
Now I just threw all hope out the window.

Speaker 4 (00:47):
It depends who did he pick. Because if he picked
the Lions.

Speaker 3 (00:51):

What's up, brother, doing well?

Speaker 1 (01:51):
Man?

Speaker 5 (01:52):
How are you don Sean Merriman on.

Speaker 4 (01:54):
The short list of biggest humans I've ever been in
the same room with.

Speaker 3 (01:58):
And I've been in the same room with a lot
of folks.

Speaker 1 (02:00):
You might have been in the same room because you know,
you being spending so much time in Michigan with this
person I'm gonna name. Everyone always says Shaq, I'll say, yeah,
he's up there at his peak, biggest because he donet
slim down now, Rick Mahorn, Oh.

Speaker 4 (02:14):
Yes, it's just just and Sean Merriman doesn't have the
height of these guys.

Speaker 3 (02:19):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (02:19):
But what I'm saying big, I don't mean fat either.
I just mean like this, I'm out of the space
that they take up in a room.

Speaker 3 (02:26):
No, that's one hundred percent. My man.

Speaker 1 (02:28):
Sean has no net. It's just well, yeah, he's a
he's a big, strong dude, for sure. We'll talk to
him and a little bit. Let's welcome in the crew.
We have Bree who is and for Rob g give it.

Speaker 3 (02:38):
Up for Bree.

Speaker 1 (02:41):
She'll be producing the show throughout the day, helping us out.
And we have, of course you have Manzi Blas on
the up of the Manzi Hello, Hello.

Speaker 3 (02:50):
And we have missed Mary Mack on the ones and twos. Huh.

Speaker 1 (02:54):
So we got everything lined up, folks. You gotta like
great show line up. Let's jump in here, Martin, Robin
and I got it. The news of course came now
like a day and a half ago. Whatever it is
of Chris Paul, maybe shoot low over twenty four hours,
but Robin I got into the conversation of what this
is Chris Paul.

Speaker 3 (03:13):
They flew out to talk to him.

Speaker 1 (03:15):
They say it was a three hour conversation between he
and Lawrence Frank and they basically eventually.

Speaker 3 (03:20):
Found a way to part waves.

Speaker 1 (03:21):
Now it gets complicated as far as the specificity of
if he's off the team, can he get traded, can't
get traded till December fifteenth. They're not releasing him yet,
so he's just kind of off the team as we
sit here.

Speaker 3 (03:34):
But we get some more news on this, Martin.

Speaker 1 (03:37):
You get to hear from finally Kawhi Leonard, who was
shocked by this.

Speaker 3 (03:40):
He couldn't believe it. He said he had to reread it.

Speaker 1 (03:42):
James Harden, who said he was blown away by this,
couldn't believe it and didn't believe that this is actually
what happened. But he said, here goes the franchise believing
they're doing what's best for us. Tyron Lou, which is
a big one because the reports were Martin, they had
been talking for weeks him and CP three, and that
CP three had wanted to have a meeting. Tyron Lou
was ignoring next thing. You know, we are where we are,

(04:03):
So those are kind of the latest we get from
star players, coach.

Speaker 3 (04:09):
But when I look at this, Martin, I look at
this a couple of different ways.

Speaker 1 (04:13):
I talked a little bit about it yesterday with Rob
and the more I think about it, the more I
view it like this. I brought up the fact that, look,
Chris Paul can be somebody that's hard to get along with,
that presses on you, grinds on you. That we've heard
all the reports that he can wear on his teammates.
We've seen it, right, We've seen it, whether it was
the Clippers. We've seen it with the Brockets, We've seen

(04:33):
it with the Thunder. We've seen where he can be
a lot to deal with because of how he plays
his approach off the court. He's always pressing the butch,
you need to be doing this, No, you need to
be doing that. Screw with this person, We got to
do that. That's kind of been the knock. Plus even
on the court, he's also been a person that has
plays that rough people the wrong way, some dirty plays,
some tough plays, whatever you want to call it.

Speaker 3 (04:54):
So I looked at it as a split twenty year career.

Speaker 1 (04:57):
First ten years could do no wrong, great commercial, he's
the you know, babyface assassin. All we all felt bad
he couldn't land with the Lakers when he had that trade.
The second ten years has been a little bit more
people starting to say, well, he's not a winner. Well
he's a thirty player. So it's been an interesting, you know,
split career for him. But none of us really can
question the pure talent at all. But I look at

(05:19):
it this way, Martin. Do I believe that Chris Paul
may have been a Clipper and now this this stint
and been a little tough, a little demanding, very vocal,
maybe disgruntled at times, expectations through the roof. My answer
is yes, Could that have rubbed his teammates, the organization, coaches,
president of basketball the wrong way?

Speaker 3 (05:40):
Yes?

Speaker 1 (05:41):
But you know what I say, if you're a record
label and you bring in Kanye West, you know you're
gonna get some crazy stunts.

Speaker 3 (05:47):
You know you've got to put out some fires.

Speaker 1 (05:49):
You know, everybody has that certain family member, you know,
all right, we love him, we bring them to the party,
but Uncle Joe, Mike get a little crazy.

Speaker 3 (05:56):
But that's family.

Speaker 1 (05:57):
And I say that to say the Clippers, he was
literally a clipper and maybe your biggest clipper of all time.

Speaker 3 (06:03):
You know who he is, you know how he left,
You know some of.

Speaker 1 (06:06):
The issues him and Blake, and I'm sure they passed
things up, but you know who this guy is. You
know the reputation. I'm not in the NBA, you're not
in the NBA. And we've heard he's demanding, he's hard.
You know, he wants to win, he brings, he's a
lot in the locker room. Why are you now shocked?
Why is this a surprise? Why did you okay the
farewell tour? Why did you bring it in the finish

(06:26):
as a clipper who arguably your greatest clipper, could be
your first jersey up in the into a Dome, could
maybe be the first Clipper with a statue with the
into a Dome area in Inglewood.

Speaker 3 (06:34):
So I'm more shocked that.

Speaker 1 (06:35):
Yes, I do believe he might have been tough, might
have had expectations, but this has been him. Why are
we shot? Why is this a surprise? And how did
we land here where?

Speaker 4 (06:45):
Now?

Speaker 3 (06:45):
It's inning ugly el for him?

Speaker 1 (06:47):
This is all ruined and it's also putting a spotlight
on you all the Clippers, because now we're saying this
is fumble. The whole Kawhi Leonards experiment has been a fumble.
Sga is now a star that you traded with the Thunder.
He's a champion, an MVP, and they still got all
though they got all those picks you gave up. It
starts to make us reflect on Lop City. How he
Chris Paul also did not win, and that was a

(07:09):
overrated team, ended up not doing anything, underachieved.

Speaker 3 (07:12):
I should say.

Speaker 1 (07:13):
So now to me, you put the spotlight back on
the organization as a whole, and the same thing I
say yesterday.

Speaker 3 (07:18):
I'll end with this Martin.

Speaker 1 (07:19):
It just reminds us do it all Chris Paul's fought,
their fought everybody all this the Clippers gone clip And
it's just a reminder because if I told you you
had Kawhi Paul, George, Chris Paul, Blake Griffin and DeAndre Jordan,
Jamal Crawford, James Harden, if I didn't mentioned all these
other players, and over about a twenty twenty five year span,
you have one Western Conference Finals appearance to show for

(07:41):
all of that.

Speaker 3 (07:42):
That is just absolutely unacceptable.

Speaker 5 (07:44):
See I'm going at it actually from a different way.

Speaker 4 (07:47):
I think this has a lot more to say about
and do about Chris Paul in this daye in his
career than does with the Clippers. And here's the reason
why the athletes are normally always the last person. The
athlete is the last one to know he hasn't have
it anymore. And I'm not saying that Chris Paul thinks
he's still twenty five, but I think that Chris Paul,
I think it came down like this because if the

(08:07):
statement that Lawrence Frank made when they signed Chris Paul
said he's joining us in the reserve point guard role,
and he's excited to fill whatever role t Lou asked
him to play. He wants to be a part of
the group or fortunate to have him back. Right, it's
only been nineteen games, right, or something like that. It's
only been a quarter of the season. Now, I think

(08:29):
what all happened was you get into this situation.

Speaker 5 (08:32):
You see Bradley Bill, he's out for the year.

Speaker 4 (08:35):
You see the record, The team's out for the year essentially, right,
They're not competing for anything in a series in a
season in which they expect it to be able to compete.
You're not signing these guys in this way if you
don't think you're gonna be able to compete. And again,
like you said, again, Clipper's gonna clip. I'm with you there.
This is just check throwing a good money after bad
right in terms of trying to re establish or reinvigorate

(08:58):
the Kawhi Leonard era, right even with adding James Harden,
adding Chris Paul.

Speaker 5 (09:02):
The reality of this is, though, this to me seems
look at that.

Speaker 4 (09:06):
Listen to the names that coach for the Clippers right now, Tylu,
Jeff Van Gundy, Brian Shaw, Larry Drew. All four of
those guys are guys that you know independently for knowing ball.
What they didn't need is a fifth coach and what
they had right then is a fifth coach and Chris Paul.
Because you're not competing on the floor, right, You're not

(09:26):
being able to be competitive on the floor. And instead
of being like a mentor style guy to a lot
of guys, I think he's actually in there pointing fingers
and saying we need to do this, we need to
do that, this is why we're losing. Instead of like
and I'm not knocking him. I prefer players that want
to win. Let me be clear, however, if you were
any team, for example, like in the NFL, if you

(09:50):
were on the Tennessee Titans today, right, and you're on
the offense, and you're saying, the reason why this team
is only has one win on the year too, the
Ears because we're starting cam Ward. Well that's the plan, pal,
That's just what the situation is. That's what we're going
to do here. And if you can't get on board,
then we're gonna.

Speaker 5 (10:09):
Have to send you home. That's how this feels to me.

Speaker 4 (10:11):
And I get like the Clippers are absolutely horrible right now,
I get CP three Hall of.

Speaker 5 (10:17):
Fame level player.

Speaker 4 (10:19):
Maybe he goes in as a Clipper, most likely goes
in as a Clipper, right, maybe a hornet, depending on
how he feels about all of it. Right, But this
is not a Disney movie, bro, You don't get to
pick how this ends.

Speaker 3 (10:30):
The glorious moment when it all happens.

Speaker 4 (10:32):
Is after you were retired, when they call you back
to the stadium, and then all Monte Bolangos in thirty
nine thousand of her closest friends will clap for you.
And cry for you and call you the greatest point
guard that's never won. Right, that's the way it goes.
You don't get to have this on December fourth, Like,

(10:53):
I don't understand what Kobe ruined all of this for everybody.
Draymond said it to Paul Pierce. You're not Kobe, Bro.
You don't get your farewell tour. You don't get your
farewell tour. And the reason why Kevin I'll kick it
back after this, The reason why Kobe got that farewell tour,
God blessed it dead. And I'm not knocking Kobe in
any way, is because he stayed with the Lakers the
whole time. Okay, it's because he stayed with the Lakers

(11:16):
the whole time. That's why he was able to get
that tour in that way. That's why Derek Jeter got
his because he stayed with the Yankees the whole time.
So they had equity built up in those organizations. Those
organizations were incentivized to make sure this ends in the
right way.

Speaker 5 (11:32):
CP three had some equity built up in the Clippers.

Speaker 4 (11:35):
But I think we all can say that this version
of the Clippers is more nationally recognized or you know what,
I'm saying, I like with Balmer and the arena and
just the innovations they have on the player side of things.
The Clippers are not the laughing stock that they were
of the Donald Sterling era that Chris Paul pulled them

(11:56):
out of.

Speaker 5 (11:56):
So I get that, but they've taken a step above that.

Speaker 4 (11:59):
And to me, this would be like if Russell Westbrook
signed with the Thunder and was expecting a farewell tour.

Speaker 5 (12:06):
It's like, buddy, we've moved on from you.

Speaker 4 (12:08):
We have no problem celebrating you, but we've moved on
from you as a major part of this team.

Speaker 1 (12:13):
The only thing is you said, going back to what
you just said that Russell Westbrook, the difference is the
Thunder would have brought him in. The Clippers brought him in.
And so my whole thing is there's no shock that
he would want to be the fifth coach. He been
coaching since he got in the league. Chris Paul been
driving people crazy, being an extra coach, changing game plan,

(12:34):
you know, on people's heads. So again, to me, I
can't I can't be shocked when, like Chris.

Speaker 4 (12:41):
Chris, this scorpion and the frog, this scorpion is going
to be the scorpion exactly.

Speaker 1 (12:46):
Chris Rock said, you know, talking about secret and Roy Freud.

Speaker 3 (12:49):
And he's, you know, the whole Tiger thing.

Speaker 1 (12:51):
The tiger got He said, that tiger go crazy, That
tiger went tiger. That's what the tiger is gonna do.
And so Chris Paul and I understand his you know,
I'm sure he's heavy on them. I'm sure, dude. We're
already going through injuries, we already are terrible. Fans are
happy where we you know, we were trying to become
really good, but maybe we made some bad deals. The
last thing any of us won. You me breed Monty.

(13:13):
When you know you're down bad, when you know you
made mistakes, it's somebody on your neck telling you, oh,
look at that, Why you do that?

Speaker 3 (13:18):
I can't believe you did that. Well, that's nobody wants
to Telvin.

Speaker 4 (13:21):
He thinks he can contribute, and he's probably not wrong,
but he's not wrong in the aggreg in the short term,
like in today, could I play today, Absolutely, I will
make this team better today if I'm on the floor. However,
that's not the plans of what the organization was because
you wasn't assigned to be that and everybody's got to
play a role.

Speaker 5 (13:40):
And I think that's what the biggest problem is.

Speaker 4 (13:42):
That's why I say, like those other organizations look like
Derek Jeter wasn't the best Yankee when he was walking,
when he was on his retirement tour, everybody was okay
with what was going on. And if you weren't okay
with what was going on, you weren't gonna speak against
Derek Jeter.

Speaker 1 (13:55):
Right And also to your yeah, well, just to your
equity point, Derek Jeter had what for minimum five maybe five?
I think it is so at Kobe's five as well.
So there is that equity of what not only just
I've been with the one team. I got a bunch
of rings with the teams, and so it makes you
have that like, ooh, you know what'll be gonna do?
He means so much to the organization, to the city,

(14:15):
to the community, and so Chris Paul, as you mentioned.

Speaker 3 (14:18):
Had lost that. But this gets interesting.

Speaker 1 (14:20):
Man eight seven seven ninety nine on Fox maybe grabbing
some calls on this, are you thinking Chris Paul maybe
over played his hand? Is this just a clippers clipping?
Did they already know what they're bringing in? We'll take
some calls on this eight seven, seven ninety nine on Fox.

were just talking about again, Chris Paul. Things keep coming out.
More bits of the storyline have come out as well,

(16:38):
and so let's see what folks have Let's go to
Marty in Kentucky. Marty, you're on with the odd couple
Fox Sports Radio. What you got, Marty?

Speaker 6 (16:47):
What's up, guys.

Speaker 7 (16:48):
I'm really excited that you got John Marriham today. He's
a player I really like to follow, all right, he'd
like to follow you.

Speaker 6 (16:57):
Guys know that he played you, Coball.

Speaker 7 (17:01):
Ben Sin. Yeah, that's pretty impressive. Somebody that just keeps
on plowing. I actually play that gets the guy in
high schools a room with Adrian Armstead. He'll probably know
that name. But uh, anyway, I've followed his career and
I just think at school he's on. But I'll get
to the subject. I think that Kelvin is dead on.

(17:26):
They're just adding another coach.

Speaker 6 (17:29):
He's on.

Speaker 7 (17:30):
He's got very little clay left and he's and he's
always been been a coach on the floor of the bitch.
I still remember him, I mean right in James Harden's fate.
Interesting was James Harden's team and he came to Houston
and he was in his face telling him we have
to play defit. And I just remember Harden throwing his

(17:55):
towel down and shaking his head and I mean this,
this guy is a coach and they don't need another couch.
I just I don't like that situation.

Speaker 1 (18:05):
Yeah, hey, we appreciate the call, Marty. We'll definitely tell Sean. Uh,
what's the guy's navid game? You said he played with
I'll try to bring that up to him, he said
arm He said, Armstead was all right, I'll try to
bring that up to him. But yeah, I mean, Martin again,
we touched on it. Just I feel like CP has
always been that guy. Uh, and you, you know, you
brought the point. They look they're probably like, look, man,

(18:25):
we don't need that right now with an amazing coaching
staff like they have.

Speaker 3 (18:28):
So I could just see why.

Speaker 1 (18:29):
It just it was mixing, you know, the two chemicals
that don't go together, and you're gonna start a fire,
for sure.

Speaker 3 (18:34):
Let's keep it grolling.

Speaker 1 (18:35):
Let's go to George in Washington, not the first president,
He's George in Washington. What's up Georgia on with the
odd couple, Kevin and Martin on a TV thing some
on Thursday.

Speaker 3 (18:45):
What's up? Brothers?

Speaker 8 (18:46):
Right right over?

Speaker 6 (18:47):
What's up?

Speaker 8 (18:47):
Guys? So I'm gonna come at this a different couple
couple of ways I'm a Laker fan. If I could,
if I could, you know, just inter David Stern and
give him a kiss for rescinding that trade with Chris
Paul to the Lakers. Would do it because I think
he realized that someone like Chris Paul going to the
Golden Shot of the NBA wasn't a good kid, regardless
of the fact that he was running the running the

(19:09):
team downe in New Orleans because there was no owner.
Second of all, Chris Paul is not the best guard.
It's not won a championship. I can think of Jason Kidd,
Allen Iverson, Stockton, Kevin Johnson. I've watched so I've watched
a lot of Clipper games when they was Love City.
Blake Griffin is probably the best Clipper ever. Okay, I
know Chris Paul makes him look good, but if you

(19:29):
talk about just pure talent, so I'm gonna go, yes,
it's the Clippers just clipping the best coach they've ever had, well,
they've had in the last twenty years as Minnie Dell Negro,
and they let him go after a season and a half.
He did more things for that team to bring them
out of where they had been in the funk and
I never understood why they did it. And all they're
doing now is they're getting James Harden and Kawhi Leonard
and you know they've run in this old center. You know,

(19:51):
John Collins is a good kick cup. Chris Paul is
not as good as I mean, his stat's never there good,
but I've seen him on the floor and it looks
just like the call him. The last caller said he's
on everybody else's business when he is. I mean, his
turnover rate of a lot of games is terrible. His
three point shot was never I mean, he'd hit big shots.

(20:12):
He has that great mid range that turned around, fade away.

Speaker 6 (20:14):
It's a corner.

Speaker 8 (20:15):
But I don't you know, and I totally agree that
he probably tried to be that second or third coach
and they told him we're not going to We're not
going to do it and see later. And they can't.
They can't trade him right now. I mean they're really no.

Speaker 1 (20:29):
They can't trade him till December fifteen. George, Hey, thank
you for the call. I'm gonna disagree with George there.
I still think the greatest Clipper. Now, maybe I'm missing
somebody in you know, the seventies or eighty, I can't
think of. But to me, it's Chris Paul, and it's
Blake Griffin was really good, but it's Chris Paul. He
absolutely turned that thing around.

Speaker 4 (20:44):
Go Untie and I actually had this debate on Saturday,
and I said, I agreed with the caller. I said
that Blake Griffin was the better. It was the better
well known and like more loved Clipper.

Speaker 1 (20:55):
I don't disagree with that if you're saying more like likable.

Speaker 3 (20:58):
But see, no, no, we're about to do that.

Speaker 1 (21:00):
What we're not about to do is not act like
Chris Paul was not a darling of the league for
the first little but he was.

Speaker 3 (21:06):
Chris Paul was Cliff Paul the commercials.

Speaker 1 (21:08):
He was the MVP seven years, seven years, he finished
in the top whatever an MVP race.

Speaker 4 (21:13):
Like, I'm not taking any of that away from him.
If you ask me, though, who is the most recognizable
when I think of the Clippers, who was the first
player I think of?

Speaker 5 (21:23):
Is play Griffith.

Speaker 3 (21:25):
I don't think it's I don't think that's.

Speaker 4 (21:27):
Fit quite honestly, it's Kawhi Leonard. Oh well then that's terrible,
but it's more it's more Kawhi because of the expectations
and absences.

Speaker 3 (21:36):
So Kawhi did they sign him? Did they bring him in?

Speaker 4 (21:39):
I do have to say this before we kicked the manse. Yeah,
to your point of Kawhi, did we sign him? The caller?

Speaker 5 (21:45):
That've been a good point that I had forgotten about.

Speaker 4 (21:48):
They played together in Houston, James Harden and Chris Paul,
and after they split in twenty twenty, I went and
looked it up the reporting at the time for friends
to show. Vinnie Goodwill said there was no re spacked
that all between Chris Paul and James Harden.

Speaker 3 (22:03):
No, and then they were like, you know who we
should bring in?

Speaker 5 (22:06):
Chris Paul Right.

Speaker 4 (22:08):
According to ESPN's Typical Man, one of Paul's biggest beeflet
Harden this is back in twenty twenty was his lack
of interest in participating in the Rockets office and at
the ball and sometimes barely stepping over half court.

Speaker 5 (22:20):
Basically, they argued over playing style.

Speaker 4 (22:22):
So it may seem to me probably still a lot
of arguments over playing style. This is different is you're
playing style at this point in time, is sitting on
the bench.

Speaker 5 (22:30):
Chris James went from fifty five, two weeks ago.

Speaker 1 (22:32):
Yeah, no, he I mean he's James still playing. He
played well for them over the last year and a half,
for sure. I just but but that was my whole part,
my whole point.

Speaker 3 (22:39):
Martin was done. They like, didn't we see that coming?
All right? On the other side of trendy we got
sew Merriman.

Speaker 1 (22:44):
We'll talk to him a minute, right now, Mancy beloos
manzi uh say.

Speaker 8 (22:48):
It again.

Speaker 5 (22:50):
Time.

Speaker 9 (22:51):
I don't think you did. I don't think you did.

Speaker 3 (22:53):
But Mary Matt get that recorded day two of this.

Speaker 10 (23:00):
I feel the exact same wayfl yesterday. Also, you are wrong.
The greatest Clipper is Blake Griffin because he put us
on the map. He made us cool, He made Chris
Paul come to LA and other free agents or whatnot.
He was the one who made the Clippers cool. He
started it. He is the greatest Clipper.

Speaker 3 (23:19):
Look at this, we started this.

Speaker 9 (23:21):
We did we did I think with skill fetched. You
know what I'm saying. It's not about skill, but you
you know what I mean, like what he did.

Speaker 3 (23:30):
I don't think that's crazy. I think Chris was just
the engine of that team.

Speaker 10 (23:34):
Get you do not disagree with that Lob City does
not happen without Chris Paul and that was like some
of the best times.

Speaker 9 (23:41):
But Blake Griffin is what did that him?

Speaker 6 (23:43):
You know?

Speaker 9 (23:44):
And I know it was by luck because he was
the number one pick because we sucked. But yeah, like
he is the one that made us cool when we weren't,
you know what I mean.

Speaker 10 (23:52):
So that's why I think he's the greatest Clipper, but
obviously not by skill.

Speaker 9 (23:56):
You could argue it's GOI Leonard.

Speaker 2 (23:58):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Couple with

Speaker 1 (24:20):
Is gonna be happening in Long Beach and doors are

six is this Saturday, This Saturday. Make sure you check
that out. We'll have him talk a little bit more
about it towards the end of the Shawn, what's up brother?

Speaker 3 (24:34):
Always good chatting it up?

Speaker 1 (24:35):
Man?

Speaker 3 (24:35):
How you doing yo?

Speaker 6 (24:37):
What's up? One man?

Speaker 3 (24:37):
How you doing doing great? Hey? What was his name? Martin?
The guy do you remember all right?

Speaker 4 (24:42):
Alvin Armstead or something? Armstead apparently the roommate or teammate
of yours.

Speaker 1 (24:48):
We had a caller that was excited to talk to you, said,
he used to you play with a buddy he is
at a Juco?

Speaker 6 (24:55):
Ed you call his buddy at a Juco?

Speaker 3 (24:57):
Yeah, he was. He was just hyped up about you.

Speaker 1 (24:59):
I said, I was gonna how to bring it up
if if I remember, but I might have messed it
up as Armstead.

Speaker 3 (25:04):
But uh, let's go here, man, let's talk to NFL.

Speaker 1 (25:07):
We got Thursday night, Martin and I dive a little
deeper into this in a little bit, and you got
the Cowboys who all of a sudden, the research is
offensively right.

Speaker 3 (25:15):
They they're they're looking great.

Speaker 1 (25:16):
Dak's an MVP candidate, and even defensively they've been a
bit better. You have the Lions who seven and five,
they haven't looked great the last handful of weeks. Uh,
where do you come out on this? Which kind of
where the teams are trending. Who do you look at
tonight and say this is a must when they absolutely
have to win.

Speaker 6 (25:33):
Well, I'll say this, man, this is a time we
call December football, right because those first several weeks and
me and my opinion doesn't matter. I mean just that's
just really teams getting on the same page, getting the
flow of things. But we all gonna see what they
shake out in December. Then that's that's when you want
to be trending up. Also, remember there was a lot
of Cowboys fans out there that was complaining why we

(25:56):
didn't go get the big name code or somebody else.
My man, Brian Schottenheimer, who was on the coaching staff
back went up with the Sandygo charges. I knew they
made the right decision and that was a Lem Rogers,
That was a Dak Prescott decision. But I keep him there.
Why why have a new offensive head coach coming in
and doing that? So I'm not surprised that Dak having

(26:18):
a season. And also Cowboys fans winding again about Jerry
Jones right letting go Michaeh. They started bringing in a
couple more pieces of the puzzle, and and look what's happening.
So in this another side of Michael Michael. Michael is
a great player, a long term I said that Jerry
could win this, win that trade, and this looked like

(26:39):
it's working out for him.

Speaker 1 (26:41):
Uh.

Speaker 4 (26:41):
Talking on the other side of this game, the Lions
and the Cowboys. Uh, the Lions obviously lost both their coordinators.
They also lost center Frank Ragnow, like, offensively, they're still
scoring a ton of points, but like Kelvin just said,
it feels different in Detroit. How how much of an
impact do you think losing coordinators on that has on
a team year the year, Because the Lions, in terms

(27:02):
of the players on the field, it's a lot of
the same guys, you.

Speaker 6 (27:05):
Know, And I don't like make an excuse because everybody's
injured or beat up at this point during the time.
During the year in the NFL, they got a lot
of injured players, and then they got a lot of
guys that's banged up. He's the wide receiver, you know,
he he's playing the night right, Yeah he's playing. He's active,
but we all know he's nowhere close to one hundred percent.

(27:27):
And so now you've got to start player that is
walking to the game banged up, and you're asking him
to go out there and win football games, and there's
going a lot of points. And that's really mainly because
Dan Campbell took over the office to play calling. But
I think that he should have been doing office to
play call him before the year started because his style
of playing, his style of coaching, they're really good at,

(27:49):
and that's taking shots, running the football well, going downfield
when necessary. But I don't know, man, I just don't
think they got enough horses to finish the season strong.
And I doubt tonight.

Speaker 1 (28:01):
Yeah, listen, obviously everybody listens knows that. You know, I'm
a Lions fan, but you're right. I mean, they're going
through it right now. Guys are nicked up, Guys are
banged up. They lose Laporta, so they're losing some steam
as they get closer towards the end of the season.
I want to I want to go to a team
right now that's kind of doing the opposite and they're
turning things around a little bit, and that's the Texans,
the Houston Texans. They find themselves in position where they've

(28:23):
won I think it's four straight.

Speaker 3 (28:26):
They got the offense, believe they or not starting.

Speaker 1 (28:28):
To go a little bit as well, what are you
making this team out of the turnaround offensively? Now they
got to go up at Kansas City, which is gonna
be a huge game for both teams, especially obviously the
Chiefs if they want to keep their playoff hopes alive.

Speaker 6 (28:42):
Yeah, she's gonna have a problem with that defense man,
because this defense really taken on de Vico Rhinson attitude.
And I'll tell you one of my favorite players to watch,
and I have been watching them since he's at Alabama's
and Anderson. Yeah, those guys like to get up get
after you up front. And it's not even just their
their front four. They don't need to go and bring
a bunch of exotic blitzes and things like that. Man,

(29:04):
they can beat you one on one. And the worst
time to play teams is when when they winning three
four games in a row and they're turning up in
December and as they're going to the playoffs and they
get healthy. But this team, man is taken on to
Miko vins attitude, and I will not be surprised if
they are a problem for many teams down the stretch.

Speaker 4 (29:23):
Uh.

Speaker 5 (29:23):
Now, you talked to a minute ago this is at
this time of the year.

Speaker 4 (29:26):
This is when teams are all kind of figuring it out,
getting ready for the stretch. Run on the A couple
here at Martin white fielding in for Rob Parker Kelvin
watching Sean Merriman on the phone. The three kings of
the AFC the last few years, the Chiefs, the Ravens,
the Bills, all kinds of reading the same book right
now in terms of early season struggles, Uh, not necessarily.

(29:48):
And the leader in their division at this time of
the year. Which one of those three, if you have
to pick one, do you expect to turn it around
or are turned it on as the end of this
year approaches.

Speaker 6 (29:59):
I would say the Bills, man, because they're off a
couple of plays here and there. The Ravens, they just
don't look like the same Ravens we've seen the last
couple of years. And I know that Lamar had that hamstring,
and I think he miss practiced in the day. So
even if he plays, he's not going to be one
hundred percent because the problem is that hamstring. You don't
know how good it is until you get out there

(30:20):
and fully tested, Like you can go out there and
jog around in the warm up. You feel good until
somebody's chasing. You got to open up a full stride
and then that thing goes again. And so they don't
have a problem, but they just have too many, too
missing pieces. The Bills. You can look at a series
of two doing the game like, man, if he's just
caught this ballf he made this tackle, they probably won

(30:42):
that game. The Ravens just aren't playing that good this
year all the way around. So I think the Bills.
If you talking about anybody that got a real shot
and turn it around and getting in the postseason and
figuring it out, then it's gonna be the Bills.

Speaker 3 (30:53):
All right, Man, we got to talk about it.

Speaker 1 (30:55):
Let's talk about Lights Out twenty nine is going to
be on the sixth Saturday. You got again, you got
a great card. Tell us what we can expect for
those who are gonna be in Long Beach out here

think it's a T thirty. We got a stacked car.
Sixteen fights right now on the mix it up. So
we just lost our partner. Shoot espn uh in America. Man,

He was saying, just all that you've done, even after
your NFL career, so you know you always printed the
show man. We appreciate you, sewan as always. Brother, Thank
you so much, good luck with everything.

Speaker 6 (31:56):
Appreciate youall man.

Speaker 1 (31:57):
No doubt saw maryor me go ahead and give him
a follow right there, All right, coming back. Man Martin
believes a big time program shouldn't be in the college
football playoff. We'll let him explain. It's The Odd Couple.

the great stuff that he's doing as well, real quick, Martin, Mary, Moncey, Bree, everybody, we.

Speaker 3 (32:55):
You're playing at Charlie Brown, Chriss.

Speaker 1 (32:57):
You know Charlie Brown. Everybody loves the Charlie Brown Christmas.
Any Chris spends your jam like that's just like for me,
home alone is one of those, like I got a
watch is holiday season Christmas, holl alone is gonna be burned.
It's gonna be burned up. Played a lot in my house.
We don't get a lot of that going on in
the Washington house. So home Alone is one of those
for me. What about y'all.

Speaker 4 (33:13):
Yesterday I put on the Santa Claus with the Senate
Tim Allen.

Speaker 5 (33:18):
Tim Allen, Ye, how about this thirty six years old? Yesterday?
Finally got it?

Speaker 3 (33:22):
Oh I they spelled them.

Speaker 4 (33:24):
With an E because it's the clause in the contract
keep on giving you.

Speaker 3 (33:34):
That was pretty clever. Yeah, that's wanted. Ever the Christmas Story.

Speaker 1 (33:39):
I feel like we all obligated TV, TBS or tn
T whichever one plays it for thirty seven hours in
a row whatever, so we all got to see that.

Speaker 3 (33:45):
What about anybody else?

Speaker 9 (33:46):
Monty Breeze, Yeah, yeah, jingle all the way with Yeah,
I love that one.

Speaker 3 (33:52):
That's what I didn't introduce my daughter to that like
a year ago or so. That's that's a good one too.
That's a sleeper well sindbad right, simbads?

Speaker 9 (33:58):
Yes, yes, it's so funny. So it's about an action figure.
Anybody else and then it's a wonderful life for me.

Speaker 4 (34:05):
I know it's like really old, but I think that's
a classic, and I feel like it's always what.

Speaker 9 (34:09):
Shop really really with you?

Speaker 3 (34:12):
No serious?

Speaker 5 (34:14):
What are you talking about that?

Speaker 9 (34:15):
It's like a historical movie.

Speaker 10 (34:17):
There's so much I want to watch during the Holidays
historical movie.

Speaker 9 (34:22):
I will tell you this, it's a classic.

Speaker 4 (34:24):
A Christmas Carol got played yesterday. The two thousand and
nine Jimmy jim Carrey version never.

Speaker 3 (34:30):
Okay, Oh yeah, I'm not too dark? Too dark?

Speaker 6 (34:33):
Look?

Speaker 3 (34:33):
And what was it that?

Speaker 5 (34:34):
It was too dark the whole thing.

Speaker 4 (34:36):
And I guess in two thousand and nine this was
probably cutting edge, but in twenty twenty five I couldn't.

Speaker 5 (34:42):
Deal with it.

Speaker 4 (34:42):
Oh the animation, the whole thing looked like a video
game cut scene, so like I just wanted to keep
pressing X to skip to get to.

Speaker 5 (34:52):
The next task. I was just having too much trouble.

Speaker 3 (34:56):
I can't do this.

Speaker 1 (34:57):
Yeah, well shoot, Happy Holidays to everybody. Uh, we gotta
get you to think about Texheart in just a second. Movie
is a Chris movie.

Speaker 3 (35:05):
Our Team Diehard, Mary, Team Diehard.

Speaker 1 (35:07):
Every year Mary, anytime it's on, Diehard is getting at
least thirty minutes out of me for sure.

Speaker 3 (35:12):
Right time for your tirereck Player of the day.

Speaker 2 (35:14):
Kawhi right, Wayne steps into the three short, gets his
own rebounds, help bakes in the.

Speaker 3 (35:19):
Paint triple team, kicking Harden his left.

Speaker 9 (35:21):
Wing three bottoms, and the Beard knocks down the tray.

Speaker 1 (35:24):
Ball Tyreq Player of the Day brought to you by Tirack.
For over forty years, Tirereck has been helping customers find
the right tires for how, for what and for where
they drive too fast and freed back by free Road
has a protection with convenient installation options like mobile tire
installation tirack dot Com. The way tire bid should be.
That was a five seventy there on the call. All right, Martin,
Texas shouldn't be in the playoffs because of.

Speaker 4 (35:44):
What I am sick and tired of watching millionaires, like
the highest paid employee in the state for most of
these college football coaches, going on television and radio and
new papers and message boards or whatever and saying campaigning
for how they have to be in this college football playoff.

(36:07):
And it's honestly, all of it is shameful. I'm from
a generation where you lose a game in November, you're
now ineligible to win.

Speaker 5 (36:13):
The college football championship. I liked it better that way.

Speaker 4 (36:16):
I know it wasn't probably the best way possible, but
I gotta sit up here and watch because the most egregious,
the most egregious ones.

Speaker 5 (36:23):
Calvin is Texas.

Speaker 3 (36:25):
Oh, oh, we.

Speaker 4 (36:27):
We all left out of the playoff. We can't do
things like schedule Ohio State again. Oh my goodness, Texas
should be out of the playoff, not because you lost
to Ohio State, because you lost off Florida, who was
as okay terrible. They fired their coach midway through the season,
and you know where he landed, James Madison.

Speaker 5 (36:48):
He didn't even get another Power five job. Why because
he was terrible.

Speaker 3 (36:53):
Florida was terrible this year and the fact that they
lost to them and.

Speaker 4 (36:57):
Every other single year of college football, but then valid
at them from being eligible to win a national championship.

Speaker 3 (37:03):
I understand why Shark's doing it.

Speaker 5 (37:05):
I get it. I get It's just shameful, that's all.

Speaker 3 (37:08):
Hey, I totally get what you're saying.

Speaker 1 (37:10):
I mean, listen, obviously, ain't nobody gonna advocate for you
like yourself. So I get what the coach is doing.
But you're right that he turns into a beauty pageant
where gee, golly, let me tell you why this win
they do be each coach doing that for the last
six seven weeks.

Speaker 3 (37:22):
But not only mentioned you mentioned in Florida, I'll out
one up you.

Speaker 1 (37:25):
They had some games Martin where they're supposed to flat
out dominate and they didn't. Right, I mean, you look
at some of these other games on their schedule, and
they were supposed to just flat out bea Kentucky. They
beat them by three in overtime, right, sixteen thirteen?

Speaker 3 (37:39):
Sixteen points is all you're putting up.

Speaker 1 (37:41):
You look at some other games that they have against
UTEP with arch Man, who was supposed to be that guy.
You beat them twenty seven to ten. You're supposed to
destroy them. They had a bad stretch. You you beat
Mississippi State by only a touchdown and overtime.

Speaker 3 (37:55):
Again, you had to go to overtime with them. So
it's not just a Florida.

Speaker 1 (37:59):
I'll add you agree with you in there, but I
add the fact that they just didn't look that dominant
against teams they were supposed to do.

Speaker 4 (38:04):
You remember Manti Tao, that Notre Dame team that got
molli OpEd. They had some close wins too, but you
know what, they had no lossage, no.

Speaker 3 (38:12):
Lossage, great point.

Speaker 1 (38:14):
So we'll see how it all shakes out at this
time next week.
