He is mister Kelvin, Happy TV Themes. So on Thursday

Speaker 2 (02:08):
Getting closer to the weekend Fridays, even it's Thursday, it's day,
yes it is. But people are you?

Speaker 1 (02:14):
First of all, you already know people are excited about friends,
one more day.

Speaker 2 (02:18):
One more long time. I just couldn't think of those terms.

Speaker 5 (02:22):
I know people used to be like, oh, I can't
wait for Friday or whatever, because you know, in this
business to work all the time, right, I work Saturday
Sunday like waiting for the weekend. Just didn't even because
I was off from Tuesday and Wednesday.

Speaker 2 (02:35):
Random days, yeah, random.

Speaker 1 (02:36):
So I hate that about this industry because I've been
fortunate for the latter part of it for it to
be semi kind of consistent and normal.

Speaker 2 (02:48):
Uh. And so, my buddies, it's what you just said.

Speaker 1 (02:50):
You know, we got we got a mutual friend or
my boy, Darren oh Man, let's go.

Speaker 2 (02:53):
Grab the game, let's go whatever whatever.

Speaker 1 (02:56):
Yeah, on Tuesday, Tuesday, you know what, you're trying to go,
do something, hangout, grab a bike, whatever.

Speaker 2 (03:00):
Friday, Saturday.

Speaker 1 (03:02):
So yeah, it can definitely, as a matter of fact,
that's a lesson for those who are listening, who are
aspiring to be in this boy, get ready to work
some random hours, no doubt, overnight, the Saturday, Sundays, early mornings, whatever.

Speaker 5 (03:17):
Require it takes, and if you really love the business,
you'll do Otherwise it weeds out the people who are
lukewarm about it. And that's really how this business works.
There's no doubt about it. All right, a lot to do.
Let's welcome into the Odd Couple coop because you wouldn't
be able to do this farm radio program without them.
Rob g is our producer, Alex is our engineer. Sieve

(03:41):
the Saga is at the anchor desk. He'll keep us
updated throughout the program. Hey, Steve, and Elijah is our
social media guru, one of the best in the business.

Speaker 1 (03:51):
All Right, let's start it sounds for you, Yes, let's
start here Thursday night football and unless you have Amazon Pro,
you're probably not watching it, but I don't know, this
is a good one. They kind of got us on this.
Oh yeah, no, no, no, I mean most of them aren't
that good.

Speaker 2 (04:07):
Yeah, they got us on this one. I ain't gonna lie.

Speaker 1 (04:09):
It's one of those ones you know, you get like
a maybe like a twenty four hour you can refund.

Speaker 2 (04:15):
It's a division rival.

Speaker 5 (04:17):
The Bengals are in Baltimore taking on the Ravens, so
of course that is something people will want to tune in.
And you let's get a chance to look at Derrick
Henry if you haven't seen him up close. Lamar Jackson,
who's playing great, and Joe Burrow, who if his team
wasn't four.

Speaker 2 (04:35):
And five right there in the conversation of some awards.

Speaker 5 (04:38):
Yeah about being the MVP conversations having a great season,
but they just haven't won enough really for him the
factor in.

Speaker 2 (04:45):
But let's talk about Derrick Henry.

Speaker 5 (04:48):
And you know, for the last few years, running backs
kept getting disc they didn't want to pay running backs.
It was ridiculous. I just always thought, just the most
ridiculous thing I've ever heard. Because you got to be
able to run the football. You do there are yards
that are important in games to keep the clock running
late in games, you need a third down or second

(05:09):
a third down in one.

Speaker 1 (05:10):
Or two, you know, not sure exactly, like it's a
big part of the game.

Speaker 5 (05:17):
And then you know, Derek Henry becomes available. The Cowboys
had a chance to get them. We don't have any money, Okay,
going around, run around talking about how the Richards franchise
in sports, but they don't have any money for a
running back. They bring back Ezekiel Elliott for a dollar fifty,
you know, and then can't figure out why it's not
working out. But Derrick Henry's had a tremendous season so far.

(05:41):
I mean his projections. If you were to figure out
what he's doing now and what he would do over
the course of seventeen games, there's twenty touchdowns, two thousand yards.
We don't know, you know, he could have a stinker
in there or two and that could throw that whole
thing off.

Speaker 2 (05:57):
But that's where it looks like he's going. But then
the question.

Speaker 5 (06:03):
Is is he a legit MVP candidate? And the reason
we even say legit is that a running back has
not won the MVP since twenty twelve, when Adrian Peterson
won it. With the Vikings, but the league turned into
a passing league. This award turned into what the cy
Young is in baseball for the best pitcher. Like, that's

(06:25):
what the MVP has turned into. Quarterback wise, where are
you as far as Derek Henry being a legit MVP candidate.

Speaker 1 (06:37):
So you just brought up some of the numbers of
what we're looking at right now. You mentioned I mean,
if you look back over the last few seasons, we've
had some running backs with some incredible seasons, one being
Christian McCaffrey last season with over twenty one hundred yards
from scrimmage, twenty three touchdowns I believe it was, and
twenty one total touchdowns for Christian McCaffrey.

Speaker 2 (06:59):
And what does he get He finishes third in.

Speaker 1 (07:04):
MVP voting with that how many votes you get in
this particular article, didn't get it, just finished. He finished
only third in MVP voting. And then you got Jonathan Taylor.

Speaker 5 (07:13):
We know that Lamar got all but one first play vote,
so he got I think and Dak got one.

Speaker 2 (07:19):
I don't think that, so Christian got zero for him
to become up.

Speaker 1 (07:22):
He came up in third, you know, in MVP voting
and then twenty twenty one Jonathan Taylor seven.

Speaker 2 (07:27):
Is that what it was? Something like that?

Speaker 1 (07:28):
You got twenty one hundred yards for Jonathan Taylor, twenty
total touchdowns. These are incredible seasons. Right, he didn't even
get a vote. This is what I'm trying to tell you.
So he didn't even get a single. He didn't even
finish in the top three. I should say he didn't
like So for running back to do this currently, you're
gonna have to put up like twenty four or five

(07:49):
hundred total yards, twenty two to twenty five touchdowns and
hope that a quarterback isn't having a Lamar Jackson type season.
And that's the problem for Derrick Henry. He's playing with
the literal reigning MVP, two time MVP and oh might
be three time MVP, and Lamar Jackson. Now, if Lamar

(08:09):
were to say, go on a campaign for his own guy,
you know what I mean, Like, yo, man, I'm just
happy to be arm around him at an interview. This
is the MVP, baby MVP, and start hyping it up
almost like a Heisman campaign, almost as if to say
I've won enough, I want my guy to get one.

Speaker 2 (08:28):
But the issue is Dereck Henry's doing that every game.
They'll be like, Dereck.

Speaker 1 (08:31):
Henry, you did so well, you ran to well He'll
be like, man, you know, I'm doing the thing. But
this is the man right here, this is the man
right here. So it's gonna be borderline impossible. People stop
respecting the running back. I'm glad to see that it's
coming back in position and becoming, you know, in vogue again.
But Rob, when you think back of some of the
successful seasons in the last you know, ten years or so,

(08:54):
when Dak was at his best, it was because Ezekie
Elliott was playing well, you know, an execute Eliot was
part of that backfield. And then last season they were
still finding ways to run the ball multiple ways. Right,
Russell Wilson, he had running backs and they were running
the ball a lot. They were using their defense a lot.
When you run the ball, you get play action a lot.

Speaker 2 (09:13):
Right.

Speaker 1 (09:13):
This is why Jared Golf is able to have such
high percentages because they're running the ball so much. It's
scaring the defense. They can't load up the block. They
I don't know what to docial. He's gonna pass it,
gonna run, I don't know, And you're gonna easy your throws.
Guys are getting open, So not only should it be
considered back for the MVPs, but also it helps your team.

Speaker 5 (09:32):
But see, here's why I think that hurts Derrick Henry
is that Lamar runs the football. So people could say, well,
of course he's having this kind of season because Lamar's
also a running threat or a passing threat. So it
opens up I know it sounds crazy, but it opens

(09:54):
up Derek Henry because.

Speaker 1 (09:55):
He freezes them. Pitch it, keep it right. Do you
see what I'm saying. So they could use.

Speaker 5 (10:03):
Lamar's ability to take away on why Derek Henry had
such a great year.

Speaker 2 (10:07):
And it's really Lamar.

Speaker 5 (10:09):
And that's why I think he's more in line to
get another MVP despite what the running back because last year,
I might be wrong, they led the league in rushing
last year without Derek Henry.

Speaker 1 (10:20):
What a committee with a committee? So they led the
league with rushing last year, so they can say this
is what we do, this is what we do.

Speaker 5 (10:27):
We got well, one big horse now, but this is
what we've been doing. And the reason we're able to
run the ball is because of Lamar. And and and
I think that that's why he's more apt to win
the MVP. Not just a quarterback thing, but he's a
running and passing quarterback, and so he's a dual threat.

Speaker 2 (10:47):
And I don't know how.

Speaker 5 (10:48):
You can not look at that guy's to watch him
and now say he's a game change.

Speaker 1 (10:53):
He's a walking video game. He's a walking video game.
You playing your little cousin who barely knows how to play.
Is what he looks like him on the football field.
The only other thing again, that may be in favor
for Derrick Henry again is if Lamar Jackson goes on
a purposeful campaign.

Speaker 2 (11:07):
Let's say they're at the.

Speaker 1 (11:08):
Two yard line and he's purposely handed, like I could
run this in, but I'm gonna purposely hand like I'm
the last three four games, I'm force feeding my guys.
So the stats writers will well, I'm just saying the stats,
so they'll look and say, oh my go, I get
twenty seven touchdowns. And then lastly, I think, and again
I think it's Lamar. But I'm saying I'm building a case.

(11:28):
If I'm Johnny Cochran here, a defense attorney for Derrick
Henry Saw, you have no gloves yet, no glove whoa
whoa that is that's around? Have got three kids, all right,
so you say no gloves? If also just writer fatigue
ah Lamar's got a couple who've done and you see
it every now and again. They'll do it in it
like there's no way Michael Jordan only has five NBA

(11:49):
NBA Come on, Ry, no, Michael Jordan five MVPs? Did
they watched the game for thirteen to fifteen years?

Speaker 5 (11:55):
What if you look at what they've done, Remember they
lost their first two games, and if they finished spectacular
and have this great record, I don't know what they
got three losses now and they don't lose a game like.

Speaker 1 (12:06):
Twelve and five or thirteen and four, right, you know,
or something like that.

Speaker 5 (12:11):
And the numbers. His numbers are better than last year
when he almost won. You na, they're better, you know,
you know, you know what I'm saying, Like, so so
you're gonna go, well, let me see, I voted for
him last year and his numbers are way better this year.

Speaker 1 (12:25):
But man Derrick Henry just rushed for two stacks, caught
a couple others three hundred and but.

Speaker 2 (12:31):
You just call the other numbers of the other people
and I'm also I'm just a little Lamar down. I'm
not Lamar, not me.

Speaker 1 (12:37):
I'm saying, you know, the writer, and I'm trying to
build a case. Listen, Lamar Jackson is the MVP. Let
me not be let me not fool anybody, Okay's and
he's the only one that you watch and looks different
because right now, Patrick Mahomes is the one I trust
in the clutch the most. But he doesn't look different
right now? You gee what I mean? He still does
a player too every now and again. O hey, that
was just Patrick Mahomes. Lamar just looks different. Like whatever

(12:59):
he's doing that ain't the same.

Speaker 2 (13:01):
You know what I mean.

Speaker 1 (13:02):
If you drop Kyrie Irving in Venice Beach, you know
what I mean, you'd be okay, Yeah, those guys can play.
That looks different. And that's to me what Lamar Jackson is.
Everything about him looks different. Right now he's playing and
he's in an absolute peak. I don't even think he's
like twenty eight years old yet. That's the crazy part.
It's even twenty eight, No t ridiculous part.

Speaker 2 (13:22):
All right.

Speaker 5 (13:22):
Eight seven seven ninety nine on Fox eight seven seven
nine nine six sixty three sixty nine.

Speaker 2 (13:28):
And should Derek.

Speaker 5 (13:29):
Henry be viewed as a legitimate MVP candidate or you
just sold on Lamar or somebody else. But but should
he be looked at h And does running back and
have a chance?

Speaker 2 (13:42):
Yeah anymore?

Speaker 5 (13:43):
We haven't had one since twenty twelve, but we'll continue
this conversation next with you. It is The Odd Couple
on a TV theme song Thursday, Rob Parker kelvin Washington,
right here on Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 2 (13:54):
Stick and stay.

Speaker 6 (13:56):
Unless you hate running backs in the US of A.

Speaker 3 (13:59):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Odd Couple
with Chris Brussard and Rob Parker weekdays at seven pm Eastern,
four pm Pacific on Fox Sports Radio and the iHeartRadio.

Speaker 5 (14:10):
App Cincinnati w k R Yeah, bet package man unpacking?

Speaker 2 (14:18):
What else you doing? Rob? Up the town, up and
down the dial. That's what they're doing. That's what they're doing.
Maybe with me were.

Speaker 7 (14:25):
Never meant to be and it hurts me once in
a while. Why girl, Wow, I'm at w k rp Cincnay, Yeah,
hold up? You know what great great theme song?

Speaker 5 (14:43):
Terrible show? Yeah that last three seasons, Oh no, I
lasted for a while, was awful.

Speaker 1 (14:47):
Then you know what you know by the way, you're
listening to Fox Sports Radio with Robin Kelvin. Yeah TV
things so on Thursday, clearly it is and we are
Comedy Live for the Tirec dot Com Studios, Rapid Radios
and stant Pusher Talk walkie talkies offering national LTE covers
for clear connection at the touch of a button. That
great communication device for kids. We use them around the show.

(15:10):
You should too, maybe not ready for your kids to
have cell phones. That's a real thing. That's why you
should use Rapid radios. Just go to rapid radios dot
com now for up to sixty percent off and free shipping.
And you know talking about shows that like it was
four seasons, four season, Okay, they won a good show.
But that theme song made what I was But I
sound like a real song like that just came on

(15:30):
the radio. You would be like, all right, James Taylor
now with w k IRP in Cincinnati.

Speaker 2 (15:35):
I didn't even realize it was a CBS show. That's
how much I didn't pay attention.

Speaker 1 (15:39):
Not ever, I didn't know that I was supposed to
know that either. Uh did you know that Star Trek
never really rated? Well, it was only three seasons.

Speaker 2 (15:47):
Yeah, it was just like Leny, they weren't ready for it.
They weren't ready for it, and NBC dumped it.

Speaker 1 (15:54):
Yeah, and the fans then got it back on because
they like every year they would call all that they
would get win that it was about to get dumped
it like no, no, no, they would.

Speaker 2 (16:01):
Boycott and get it back on.

Speaker 5 (16:02):
So I'm like, but they've been misses like that with
shows that have been on forever that didn't really run
as long as they.

Speaker 2 (16:09):
Probably should have.

Speaker 1 (16:10):
The rest of the development the Star Trek was definitely
was ahead of its time. It was then it came
back with like five different versions and not Star Trek
Voyage was well yeah, and then they a million like
it's in the movies. They got every like decade to
get a new franchise. I'll give you this watching old
TV shows. Gene Roddenberry, who is the one who created

(16:30):
Star Trek.

Speaker 5 (16:32):
I'll watch an old Western written by Gene rod Berry,
Like he was a writer in Hollywood, and I guess
Star Truk he's writing Western and then.

Speaker 2 (16:40):
Finally got a chance to create something, create his own TV.

Speaker 8 (16:43):
Uh.

Speaker 2 (16:43):
Well, I hope he had some percentage in it.

Speaker 1 (16:45):
Oh no, you know what I mean, making sure because
I mean the fame of it is bigger than the
actual show.

Speaker 2 (16:50):
Like now, it's a real thing.

Speaker 5 (16:52):
Eight seven, seven ninety nine on Fox talking about Derrick Henry.
Should he be viewed as a legitimate MVP candidate? I think,
of course he should be. That conversation Willie ways, he
deserves that it is to be. I'm not sure if
you'll win.

Speaker 1 (17:05):
Being on a team with Lamar and some of these
other quarterbacks is just the way the league gets. I
gotta deal with this sixth Street, two hundred and fifty
pounds back crazy Andre in Massachusetts. You're on the couple
of Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 2 (17:16):
What great?

Speaker 9 (17:19):
How you doing? Thanks for taking a call. Listen to me.
Dereck Henry has to be in the MVP conversation based
on how he's putting up numbers and how the Ravens
are rolling. He's got already eleven touchdowns, already rush for
over one thousand yards. That he's averaging like one hundred
and seventeen yards per game.

Speaker 5 (17:34):
Yeah, but hold on, Dre all good, but Calvin just
gave you other running backs with numbers that would project
the same.

Speaker 2 (17:43):
As what he's doing. And they barely got any votes if.

Speaker 9 (17:46):
Any point, taking rob But at the same time, winning
is the bottom line is kind of de straw that
stirs the drink, if you will. And the Ravens they're
rolling after, you know. So if the Ravens, if they
projec out number one seed. Now granted we've seen that
all before in terms of they need to win when
it matters most, not during the regular season, but I

(18:07):
think he has to be in the conversation. It has
become a quarterback award, but I don't think that's best
for football and just best for the game overall, you know,
So give him an opportunity, but the odds will are
that they'll give it Tom or another quarterback.

Speaker 2 (18:21):
And Andre, I.

Speaker 5 (18:22):
Don't know how well you know NFL MVPs and Rob
G jump in if I'm wrong, But I think a
punter has won it. A kicker has won it. You
know that that's where the scope was to be at
one point. Can you imagine a punter winning the MVP
of the league?

Speaker 2 (18:38):
Am I right? Was it Ray Guy?

Speaker 1 (18:39):
You would have to have like Ray Guy fourth and
ones and he actually ran it instead of punded.

Speaker 2 (18:45):
But just think about that, like that you would laugh
now that a punter or a kicker. What was he
doing to even win that? Like? Was he pitting everyone
on the one yard line?

Speaker 3 (18:54):
Like?

Speaker 2 (18:54):
What can it know?

Speaker 1 (18:55):
I'm dead, serire. I can't imagine what a punter was
doing to win MVP. Was he also a running back?

Speaker 10 (19:00):
No?

Speaker 1 (19:00):
That is that, there's no there. I'm so mad at
the NFL. I want to go back to the forties
whatever this was, and I want to smack it one
the forties fifty sixty seven. I want to smack everybody.
That's absolutely ridiculous that they let a punter win MVP.

Speaker 2 (19:12):
And a kicker and even give you a kicker. Listen,
no council points at least Rob. But what's crazy is
the kicker. It wasn't like he was perfect either.

Speaker 5 (19:19):
Uh. I was trying to remember. I looked at the
stats and and I don't think he had like this
perfect season. All right, let's let's get to Stephen. We'll
get you find that in it unless Steve remembers that.

Speaker 2 (19:31):
Steve probably does.

Speaker 3 (19:32):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Odd Couple
with Chris Brussard and Rob Parker weekdays at seven pm
Eastern four pm Pacific on Fox Sports Radio and the
iHeartRadio app.

Speaker 2 (19:43):
The Lakers.

Speaker 1 (19:44):
Everybody was crowning them three and oh, stop it, stop it, God,
look at the Dodds.

Speaker 8 (19:51):
Look at the difference between JJ Reddick and Darvin Hams.
Look at the difference. Oh look at his night there
three and oh they look great.

Speaker 6 (20:03):
Now.

Speaker 5 (20:03):
They just had a one and four road trip where
they gave up over one hundred points and three and
one hundred and thirty points in three of those games.

Speaker 2 (20:11):
They lost to the Pistons. My goodness, gracious, and now
you know.

Speaker 5 (20:16):
And then here's JJ Reddick after that hearty road trip
where he's praising lebron amen and ripping uh d low
everybody else and and it's just so easy.

Speaker 2 (20:28):
What a shocker. The guy who got him the job,
the guy shared a podcast with.

Speaker 5 (20:34):
That's the guy that he's he's uh stroking and telling
everybody it was great. Okay, all right, reading their face
pick that's right, But we got the sound. Here's JJ Reddick.
I don't know if this was in the press conference
or on the podcast or on a phone call, or
you know, or or he was something else. Let's do
I heard that.

Speaker 2 (20:54):
I heard that fantastic tonight. You know, he played hard,
almost forty years old, played the hardest on our team.
Says a lot about him.

Speaker 3 (21:02):
Jay, you're talking a lot about two out of the three,
two or three guys getting them to put in the effort,
and talked a lot about wanting to play hard, and
Lebron being the guy that that played hard in tonight's game.

Speaker 6 (21:12):
How do you address that with the team. What's your
philosophy for approaching I just.

Speaker 2 (21:15):
Did and he dropped the mic like he's somebody special, Like, oh,
you see what I did.

Speaker 5 (21:23):
I was in the bread covin with the press and
they had me a question and I dropped the mic
and walked out.

Speaker 2 (21:28):
I'm so proud of it. See I gotta do this
for eighty two games. Yes, you do. After a one
in four road trip where you lost to the.

Speaker 1 (21:35):
Pistons, Seriously, they looked at they said, excuse me, the
scoreboards broke and said we won one.

Speaker 5 (21:43):
And just this is the problem with the whole Lebron
and JJ Reddick, cause it just feels weird. You already
know because of the backstory, right, we all know Lebron
helped him get higher.

Speaker 1 (21:53):
They could say that he didn't did not he said
he didn't rop Okay, he said he didn't come on Kel.
He said he had nothing to do with He had
nothing to do with Darvin Ham getting fired. Nothing to
do with nothing.

Speaker 2 (22:05):
You ain't that naive. He was in Malibu hanging out
with the family. I know it's eastern Michigan, but we
will take that degree away. He was shocked. He was shocked.
He was like, wait, we hired who I know? Other
people went to Eastern Michigan. They're not They're not gullible there.

Speaker 1 (22:21):
No listen, man, they know what I'm saying. It just
comes off bad. The one, the one bad part about
this is DiAngelo Russell. Oh you want to gang up
on D'Angelo Russell? Okay, well, okay, So a couple of
things to dissect here. One, he's obviously gonna be praising Lebron.

Speaker 2 (22:41):
That's his guy.

Speaker 1 (22:41):
They want, they said they have they sip wine together.
But the problem is with Anthony Davis being out. If
you kind of watch the games, he's kind of right,
and that Lebron and a couple other guys were playing hard.
Di'angelo has to figure out that D smooth kind of
being the D cool. Yeah, I go my own pace,

(23:02):
and I kind of yeah, that ain't gonna cut it
for everybody. And I'm not saying JJ reddig Is pat
Riley or hey Phil Jackson has this this you know
that's what they were, but he ain't that. But what
I do think he is trying to say is, and
you know this, even in our profession, anything, the least
we can do is effort.

Speaker 2 (23:19):
No get like, we might not have the.

Speaker 1 (23:21):
Scheme yet, we're trying to figure this out. Are we
a defensive team? Are we a fast offensive pace team?
It's almost like a given, right the I mean, first
thing I can x out is we're gonna work hard.
We're gonna have effort, like that should be a given,
and I think he's trying to establish that early. I'll
give him that that man, if I can at least
hold these guys and being accountable for the effort that
they give, then at least from there the floor is

(23:43):
taken care of. Right, this is the baseline, This is
the given. This is the I expect you to work
hard to bring it, show effort. Then we start to
figure out the rest of who we are, find out identity,
find out who can do what, find out our rotations
and I think he's trying to set that baseline of like, man,
I'm not gonna accept that.

Speaker 2 (23:58):
I can accept you going for twenty night shotstone Fall.

Speaker 1 (24:01):
Sometime I can expect you have a turnover because maybe
you're trying to you too hard to get your teammates
the ball I can't have. And this is a bad
one because rob g you watch all these Laker games.
One thing and you know I feel about Lebron. That's
why man's one hundred grand. But one thing about Lebron?
What did you wink at you want or so?

Speaker 2 (24:18):
No, No, I'm a bit. I've just been a man. No,
don't play with me, don't play it.

Speaker 1 (24:23):
But he gave him a Lebron ain't necessarily one for
effort at this point, Robberie and my line, I'll be
the first man. He will stand up straight and let
a guy go buy him sometimes and it's like, oh, hey, statue.

Speaker 2 (24:34):
He is a statue. So you know I'm gonna keep
it real.

Speaker 6 (24:36):
He's perfected the standing point defense.

Speaker 1 (24:38):
Oh man, he is like me when I got blamed
some of my kids. Then I take brick you the
one I said, girl, that Lebron is that now? Rob
So the bad part is I think he's saying, man,
that guy can't be having more effort than you. That
guy can't because we know lebron effort is minimal a
lot of times because Brun's just trying to save it

(24:59):
for the hopefully the postseason.

Speaker 2 (25:01):
I get that. But when you're enter into a.

Speaker 5 (25:05):
Working relationship with somebody like that, people, the other guys
in the in the locker room, they know and they're like,
oh you hear that, he all there talking about him exactly,
it makes it makes it. It makes it tough where
you could lose guys or people start to tune you
out because they're like this is crazy, Like like we've
watched Lebron too not play defense and and we want

(25:29):
to hear him stand there and and give Lebron the business.
I want to say, well, but but that's why I think,
if if you're really JJ Reddick and you want to
uh get people to buy into you, like your first
time when Lebron is go at him, to let people
know that I'm going after Lebron. I'm going after you

(25:50):
if you don't do what you're supposed to do. But
just to praise Lebron and all that, and then and
then want to you know, attack, And I'm not saying
D'Angelo Russell didn't just herve it, but it just comes
off as preferential treatment, and that's the way people are
gonna take it.

Speaker 1 (26:05):
I think the first I think the first sign of
Lebron being old a guy because it's early. He has
been playing pretty hard right now, it's six seven, eight
games in. I think the first when he starts to
turn it into the hands on the hips and you know,
letting guys go by. If he doesn't say, hey, man,
we didn't have it tonight, and I gotta expect more
from Lebron. He's our leader. He's supposed to be setting

(26:26):
the tone. If he doesn't do that, I completely agree
where guys start going, man, here we go. He's seeing
that dude standing up, or he's seeing him see the
lose ball. He ain't died for it. You ever see
you got a call that he has to set the tone.
But Phil Jackson looks at the other people when his man,
you know, he will find no reason. He will be
like no, we remember I said try and God when
we was gonna run it, boy.

Speaker 2 (26:48):
Put his hand out, come on, you ain't see that.
I thought we was gonna run with switch. Come on, Bron.

Speaker 1 (26:52):
That's why I like when Anthony David guys got to
get at him. And I think if JJ Reddick sees
that from Lebron, calls Lebrown out because the master for
ones were great at that Phil Jackson was masterful. I
don't care if you shot Kobe Pippen Jordan, you can
get this smoke. People want to be.

Speaker 5 (27:10):
Coached, they do, and if they do something that's true,
people don't. I don't buy in that.

Speaker 1 (27:14):
They don't want to be Absolutely think about the best
players in any sport. We talk about whether it's be
your lowe, but most people go Tom Brady coach hard,
Michael Jordan coach hard, Kobe Bryant coach hard.

Speaker 2 (27:26):
You know what I mean? Like like is usually associated
with that. So I agree, And Rob, do you want
to add something to that?

Speaker 6 (27:34):
No, it's just a question.

Speaker 10 (27:34):
So you know, Rob's idea that JJ Reddick is hired
because he's Lebron's guy is not unique to Rob. Right,
Like we had former NBA players saying it on their
own podcast, like, look, everyone's gonna know that is the
message coming from you or is it coming from Lebron?

Speaker 6 (27:48):
Like this gets one of the other.

Speaker 10 (27:50):
So given that I'm sure JJ is aware of that narrative,
do you think he should have been more conscious to
be like the first time I go public at one
of these guys, either Lebron has to be included or
I have to wait until he does something.

Speaker 5 (28:07):
I think that that's the best way to do it,
you know what I mean, even though it's like it's
a master plan or you, but you got to be
able to create a situation to where the other players
know that this is not gonna be Lebron is great,
and we think when we lose.

Speaker 1 (28:24):
I think JJ again, we had I think Mark Madeen.
A couple of people have talked about it, we've had
on the show over the last few couple weeks. Man,
that dude is like hyper intense, Like, dude, you got
to relax, Like you know how we've had coaches who
have had heart issues because they've been just two into it.
Over the last ten years, it seems like we've seen
and have that a lot. He's one of those guys.
I'm a little worried for him, and he's that intense.

(28:45):
And the reason I bring that up is I do
think they know and have already seen probably in film
practice and all that. Like, man, anybody can get this smoke,
and I think they know that, but it's imperative that
at some point answer your question, Robzie, he shows it
to the public, Like yo, man, anybody can get the smoke,
including lebron.

Speaker 6 (29:03):
So do you think he has to go out of
his way to do it though.

Speaker 2 (29:07):
Because there were situations that gotta wait too much longer?
The hands on the hips are coming.

Speaker 1 (29:13):
This is the first little bit of the season, Rob
He's energized, he's exciting, and my son playing. I'm trying
to say, hey, Bronni's about to be in the G League.
This is when Lebrace I thought he was gonna never leave.
Now I can slack.

Speaker 2 (29:23):
I was trying to say, you know, showing my boy,
this is what does I'm jj Reddick.

Speaker 5 (29:27):
I would have just stood up there and said, hey,
lebron if you keep playing defense like that, you're gonna
be in the G League with Bronny it's coming.

Speaker 1 (29:34):
But that is he's gonna He's gonna say that. I
would be no, because cording you he wasn't leaving in
the G League. Hey, but I'm closer, you know, meet
me in the half.

Speaker 2 (29:45):
He ain't. You said that he was going to the
G League and you wouldn't see him again until down
the road. But he's not gonna play. He coming right
back though, to meet me in half. I was closer.
We'll get to that later. Is it trash talking Tuesday yet? No,
it's trash talks get every day.

Matter of fact, there's a great story where she was
gonna quit what was her name, Nicole? I forgot she
was gonna quit Star Trek and guess who called her?
Martin Luther King called her on the phone. Wow, said
I read that you were going to quit this series.
You cannot quit.

what he said.

Speaker 1 (31:44):
I heard a dream that one day about the quin
and that said, we need little black girls and little
black women to be on Star Trek.

Speaker 2 (31:53):
I have a dream that will one day we go
through the voice together. And can you say, let's say
if Martin Luther King say beat me up, Scott. I can't.

Speaker 1 (32:08):
I can't have you me Upcott, because one day I
want to get beamed up too by that man name
named Scotty. Be me up, Scotty, for all the mankind,
the little black boys and little black girls would be
beaming up.

Speaker 2 (32:24):
In god time. I'm sorry, you have to know me.
Don't ever bring up MLK around that I'm going to do.

Speaker 3 (32:31):
No.

Speaker 5 (32:31):
But he did call her, and that you imagine taking
that phone, call you, this is Martin Luther King Junior.

Speaker 2 (32:39):
There you go.

Speaker 5 (32:39):
And she didn't quit the show because he said that
what at that time, these black women on TV.

Speaker 2 (32:46):
Were maids, you know all that, And and then he
was like, no, look at what role you have on
this show. You have a speaking part. You're a lieutenant.
Would not be down and run.

Speaker 1 (33:01):
