funky flashback Friday?

Speaker 5 (02:20):
Man had a Kelvin second big show of the day.
Speaker 1 (02:23):
Man, they got me down at SOFI again all morning,
kicking field goals, tackling rampage and doing eight counts with
cheerleaders and all that local.
Speaker 3 (02:32):
News stuff you had on jerseys and hats pom poms.
Speaker 5 (02:37):
Why do they make people do that local news? I
just I understand you mean, first of all, you know
it's funny.
Speaker 1 (02:43):
No, I'm just I said no, no, no, let me indulge
for twenty seconds on that. I remember when I was
getting this jot, They're like, oh yeah, we're gonna be local.
We're gonna be local. And I'm like, you know, I'm
all right, you killing me with that. I get it,
I get it, I get it. You know okay, and
they're no, we're gonna be local. We're gonna do this.
And then once you get into it, you embrace. You realize, man,
there's an amazing thing. The city of La loves us La.
You know, you're here in the community. You're dealing with fires,
(03:05):
you're dealing with this, you're dealing with dodgers, dealing with
and it's it's impoted. So that's why you're part of
the city and all that good stuff.
Speaker 5 (03:12):
I just one thing I loved.
Speaker 3 (03:15):
I worked at Channel four Local four in Detroit wd
i V, which is a great station.
Speaker 5 (03:20):
Shout to him. Yes he retired, I know that was
that was my guy h And the one thing I
did admire about them.
Speaker 3 (03:28):
I was a filling anchor and analyst or whatever, and
they'd have me go do stuff.
Speaker 5 (03:35):
I led the newscast once.
Speaker 3 (03:37):
Live from yank imagine live from you in front of
the Yankee Stadium with a live shot the w NBC
crew in New York doing it. I'm there, I'm doing
this live talking back to the anchors back and whatnot,
and they didn't ask me to do anything raw raw whatever.
Speaker 5 (03:54):
And then they and they could have.
Speaker 3 (03:56):
Totally avoided asking me who I thought was going to
win this series, knowing me, but they still ask the
right and then of course I said, I picked the Yankees,
and of course they attacked me.
Speaker 5 (04:07):
Which was fine, but I love the idea that they
just let me beat me.
Speaker 1 (04:11):
Yeah, of course that's that's that's what you're that's what
you're there. They were like on it. Okay, what did
me see? His application? Says Pooh Pooh King hired, So
you gotta be feeling good on Friday.
Speaker 5 (04:21):
Ye, that's right.
Speaker 3 (04:22):
And more NFL football down in Brazil coming up soon,
Chiefs and Chargers. But let's welcome in the odd couple crew,
because we wouldn't be able to do this fine radio
program without them. On this funky flashback Friday. Rob g
is our producer, Alex is our engineer. Steve the Seger's
(04:43):
at the anchor, Duck Steve. He'll keep us updated throughout
the programming.
Speaker 5 (04:46):
Never heard of them, man, he's writing the bills heard
feet away from us. Yeah.
Speaker 3 (04:52):
Elijah Elijah our social media gurul no doubt, Elijah.
Speaker 5 (04:59):
Are you gonna be here every day every day?
Speaker 1 (05:03):
Are you gonna still have a happy home because they
got used to you being at home?
Speaker 5 (05:07):
Well, this is what it used to be. She's pretty exciting. Yes, yes,
get him out all right.
Speaker 3 (05:13):
And I should say for forty years, tire rack has
been helping customers find the right tires for how, what
and where they drive, ship fast and free back by
free road hazard protection with convenient installation options like mobile
tire installations when they come to you, which is awesome.
Tire rack dot com the way tire buying should be.
(05:35):
And Rob g there was another poll by the Athletic
talking to front office executives and of course the conversation
was about who will be the NFL MVP and surprise, surprise.
Speaker 7 (05:54):
Well, Rob, you're gonna be more surprised because the poll
wasn't even about the MVP a poel. I thought it
was about the power rankings in the AFC. In the
NFC we talked about yesterday Detroy Lions one guy had
him eleventh so for the AFC, and Rob Parker had
the Lions eleventh in the AFC. No surprise, Baltimore Ravens
number one no surprise. Again, Buffalo Bill's number two because
(06:17):
they play in a terrible division and they should kind
of run rough shot through that division.
Speaker 5 (06:23):
The Chiefs being at number three was a mild surprise.
Speaker 7 (06:26):
However, one of the voters who had the Chiefs at
number one, an anonymous NFL executive, said the real reason
why he has them number one has everything to do
with their quarterback, Patrick Mahomes. In fact, that exec believes
that Patrick Mahomes, in his words, quote get ready NFL MVP.
(06:51):
I think he's at a point in his life where
he's like, uh huh, I'm the guy. Mahan's in a
great spot. I think he's coming for all the haters,
Rob Parker, We're going to see a huge year from him.
Thirty eight touchdown passes type of year.
Speaker 5 (07:06):
All right, Kelvin, I just got one thing to say. Okay,
it's preposterous.
Speaker 3 (07:11):
That's a word to think that Patrick Mahomes is going
to change what we've seen the last couple of years
and not play better, but be the MVP.
Speaker 5 (07:21):
With all the young quarterbacks and all these other guys
were put up.
Speaker 3 (07:24):
Really impressed Joe Burrow any other year could have been
the MVP. Last year right, Lamar should have won the
MVP last year, and then of course.
Speaker 5 (07:37):
Josh Allen actually won the MVP. Right.
Speaker 3 (07:39):
So there's just three guys right there, without even digging, right,
and they're all in the AFC as well, like an
incredible plethora of quarterbacks who have played really well and
have a chance at again going for an MVP. Here's
my issue, and I just last year and I talked
about it. They were fifteen and two last year, fifteen
(08:00):
and one in games that Patrick Mahomes played because they
didn't play the last game of the year, and they.
Speaker 5 (08:06):
Love and he got zero first place votes for MVP.
Speaker 3 (08:11):
In a quarterback league where you talk about making the
big does in the matter supposed to be about winning.
Nobody watched him last year and said, oh yeah, look
at what he's doing. They won their first eleven thirteen
games in a row. They're going to the super Bowl again.
Oh my god, look at this. The body of work,
the dinking and the dunking, the turnovers, the interceptions. Nobody's
(08:34):
saying that he has to be flawless or throw fifty
touchdowns and no picks or whatever.
Speaker 5 (08:39):
It's just a far cry.
Speaker 3 (08:41):
Once you've seen vintage Patrick mahomes in the early days
of his career. It's hard to watch this one and
think he's the MVP of the league, no matter how
much winning they do. So I don't see how that's
going to be possible given a the competition, be what
(09:01):
he's done of late. You think he wants to dink
and dunk, I mean the last two years. Do you
really believe that? No, you think he wants to throw picks?
Speaker 5 (09:12):
No? No, this is just who he is at this point.
Speaker 3 (09:17):
And I just think that people when it comes to
players like Patrick mahomes ilk, they can't let it go.
He's an all time great, so they always give him
the benefit of the doubt.
Speaker 5 (09:29):
You know what it's like, It's like Lebron last year.
Speaker 3 (09:32):
Oh no, I'm looking at them in the West. Who
are you gonna take over Lebron and Luca? Who are
you gonna take over Lebron and Luca?
Speaker 5 (09:42):
Right?
Speaker 3 (09:42):
Because of Lebron, I get it. He's one of the
all time great players, right, and you just add Luca
to him. So you think, of course, how many times
have we heard I'm not betting against Lebron James.
Speaker 5 (09:52):
He's been playing in the.
Speaker 3 (09:53):
League twenty two years and got four championships, But you're
not betting against Lebron every year.
Speaker 5 (09:59):
I hear this, and it's the same thing. We're picking
the Chiefs to win the Super Bowl and Padre Malme
to win the MVP.
Speaker 3 (10:04):
I just think it's tired, it's preposterous, it's lazy, and
it's not based on what.
Speaker 1 (10:12):
Your eye test is telling. So the MVP my pick
is to be Lamar Jackson. I think he's just you
gift him thirty five touchdowns maybe total. Maybe it's just
passing with a few on the ground as well. He's
just that gifted. He's that good Marcus team down for
anywhere eleven.
Speaker 5 (10:28):
To thirteen wins. That's just Lamar Jackson.
Speaker 1 (10:30):
But aligned with the question or the thought of what
we're talking about, I don't think it's preposterous at all,
because I think everything you just named is gonna work
in his favor. And what I mean by that is,
I think he's going to go into this season and
I think he understands that that was his floor right,
that last season will be as bad as it gets
for Patrick Mahons for the next five six years. And
(10:50):
so I think, are you sure, yes, Okay, I'm not,
and I think a couple of reasons.
Speaker 3 (10:55):
One, when Travis Kelcey retires and you tay together guy
a young stud who is Travis kelce of six years ago.
Speaker 1 (11:02):
Here, here's one of the things. Let me break down
the reasons why. Number one, he addressed it. He said
it he believed they played tight in a lot of
ways because their focus was on trying to three peat.
So throughout the season, they're trying to make plays and
guys are doing this and three peat is in the
back of their head, which is why I think they're
fifteen to one when he starts, because they're like, can
we mess around and go undefeated through the Super Bowl
(11:24):
and be maybe the greatest team of all time? Subconsciously,
that's in the back of their head one hundred percent.
He admitted it. Other guys admitted it as well. The
three peat was sitting there. We got to talk about
the injuries. Guy out, g I out. This guy's out.
He's not playing with well he is playing now. He's back. Okay,
he's back towards the end of the season, but he's
not really his self. That played a big role, and
I think him just saying I just gotta win games
(11:45):
I just gotta win games. I'm not gonna be able
to do what I normally do right, and I think
that floor for him is gonna be a Roy Jones Jr.
Speaker 5 (11:53):
Y'all must have forgot of why he plays better.
Speaker 1 (11:56):
Now again, I think Lamar Jackson win the MVP, but
it's not asidin or crazy to think that he expounds
upon what he did. So it was it twenty eight
touchdowns instead, now it's thirty five thirty eight touchdowns right,
eleven inceptions. I believe interceptions somewhere around there. Maybe it's
only seven seven eight, and so I expect him to
be better. Hollywood Brown is back. This is the second
(12:17):
year for Worthy, who was had a really nice rickey campaign.
He's only gonna get better. Then you lose six weeks
of Rahee Rice, You're best receiver.
Speaker 5 (12:25):
He'll be back.
Speaker 1 (12:26):
You still got eleven weeks of him catching a bunch
of yards and a few nice amount of touchdowns and
for him to be productive. And lastly, I think Andy
Reid and crew said we also could have put them
in better positions.
Speaker 5 (12:38):
We could have put in better positions in the Super Bowl.
Speaker 1 (12:41):
And I think everybody, all staff involved, comes back and says,
we as a whole unit need to improve, and so
I expect that from them. So I don't think he
is winning, But I also don't think it's crazy because
I think if he gets back to seventy five to
eighty five percent of what he normally was, he's in
the hunt. He's in the race. He's Sam Darnold of
last year. See, he's Jared Goff of that where.
Speaker 5 (13:02):
You were in nine.
Speaker 3 (13:03):
Shoot though if last year, if you're all the stuff
you talked about that he didn't have and guys didn't
play well and they still won, and he made all
the big does when it mattered, he should have got
votes for MVP because it's an unbelievable task to be
fifteen and one with nothing. You just said he had
(13:23):
nothing last year, and the receivers weren't good, and this
guy and Travis Kelsey's old, and and nobody was good
and they didn't do anything right, and yet they won
fifteen out of sixteen games. How do you not get
any MVP votes?
Speaker 5 (13:37):
They can't answer that. That doesn't make any sense.
Speaker 1 (13:39):
It was a historic year for we talk about what
Lamar Jackson did has not been done in Sands for
what Aaron Rodgers year or something like that. Josh Allen
is literally doing Superman things, jumping over people with the
ball in the snow. You got Jared Goff having a
huge season. Joe Burrow is the MVP any year except
last year, and so and then you got Sam Darna
a remarkable run out of the blue. We didn't I
(14:00):
thought Sam Donald's an NFL anymore. So you had other
guys that came out the blue or who are always good, Lamarn,
Josh who took it to another level. So that's why
people are like, all right, you're off to the side
right now, because we're seeing things that we've never seen, Say,
Janey Daniels coming out.
Speaker 3 (14:16):
Put him off to the side. If he had nothing
and to work with. Then they won all those games.
Speaker 1 (14:20):
And his stats were not great except for the winning ones,
but the but the over arching stats weren't great.
Speaker 3 (14:27):
They weren't eight seven seven ninety nine on Fox eight
seven seven nine.
Speaker 5 (14:32):
Nine six sixty three sixty nine.
Speaker 3 (14:34):
Is it preposterous to say that Patrick Mahomes can win
the MVP this season?
Speaker 5 (14:39):
We'll continue that conversation that's with you. That can't be preposterous.
It's preposterous mahomes is real.
Speaker 1 (14:46):
Now you're cooking your toes and that, like always many
things real quick. Joe Hot Thighsman, Tom Brady, Jim Plunkett,
Joe Montana, Steve Young all won MVPs over thirty.
Speaker 5 (14:56):
So it's not it's not as if it's done it.
You didn't hear me bring up in the age.
Speaker 1 (15:00):
I'm to say a meaning he can still good bat
and get and bring up age.
Speaker 5 (15:03):
I just bought the play and the competition to get
that out there.
Speaker 3 (15:07):

(16:58):
I don't think anybody should be shocked if he were
to when he's Patrick Mahomes, you say is preposterous?
Speaker 5 (17:03):
What say you? Eight seven seven? Not? And I own Fox?
Speaker 3 (17:06):
All right, let's get it kicked off with Drew in
New Jersey. You're on the eye couple Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 5 (17:11):
What's up?
Speaker 9 (17:12):
Drew? Hey, guys, I think it is preposterous. I don't
think it should be anybody, but about uh Josh, I don't.
I think he's the deadliest player on the football field.
I don't think you could put the Ravens in the
super Bowl. I think that is every single game your
last game this season, so it is your worst game.
I don't know how you can trust him, especially if
you're saying Jared Golf is done.
Speaker 5 (17:34):
So I'm running, all right the police.
Speaker 9 (17:39):
No, I'm like thirty five minutes in, all right, I had.
Speaker 5 (17:43):
I like you know what, Drew Man, we appreciate your dedications.
He's over here, like Miles six, still gonna call him.
Speaker 3 (17:49):
Let's go Jay in Atlanta. You're on the eye couple
of Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 5 (17:54):
What's up, Jay?
Speaker 10 (17:55):
Hey, what's y'all doing? All right? First of all, Rob,
I love your your wrongness, even if when I don't
agree with you, I know you're being real.
Speaker 3 (18:02):
Okay, Always, that's that's it.
Speaker 5 (18:05):
Always.
Speaker 10 (18:05):
What the last time I called and you contradicted yourself
Because the last time I called you, I said, you're
comparing this Patrick Mahomes to the old Patrick Mahomes And
you said, no, I'm not. But today you said that
once you've seen vientis Patrick Mahomes, This Patrick Mahomes doesn't
compare for your kind of contradiction.
Speaker 5 (18:23):
I did not. I did not. I did say it. No, No,
listen to what I'm saying. I did say.
Speaker 3 (18:31):
Like watching him, it's hard to watch this version of
him after seeing the first one.
Speaker 5 (18:36):
But the reason he's not the MVP is the numbers.
Speaker 3 (18:39):
The numbers aren't good enough and that's why last year
he didn't get one first place vote for MVP.
Speaker 5 (18:46):
The numbers aren't good enough.
Speaker 10 (18:48):
Would you say that for Patrick Mahoonmes Fatigue. Also no,
because he's winning, bro.
Speaker 5 (18:54):
How like Fortigue. He didn't get one vote.
Speaker 3 (18:57):
Come on, no, that's not for Tea. He didn't get
one vote. That's a rejection of him. That's a rejection
what you.
Speaker 10 (19:06):
Said that you weren't comparing the two last time I
called you, that was last week. But this week, this week,
you did say that you're comparing.
Speaker 5 (19:15):
I'm not. No, I'm not.
Speaker 1 (19:18):
Look, hey, I say this about Patrick Mahomes. There's no
reason why he deserved the vote last year. He other
than the fact if somebody literally did it just because
he's Patrick Mahomes, because the numbers weren't great. And also
on the flip side, you have people doing amazing things again,
that's why you had. There are points where Jared Golf
was in the mix. Then there's point where Sakwan Barkley
(19:39):
was in the mix for REVP right till the end.
There was parts where so many people were in the
mix that it just wasn't his year to be in
the mix. And I think that's okay, It's perfectly fine.
Speaker 3 (19:46):
Casey in Oregon, you're on the couple of Fox Sports Radio.
What's up, Casey?
Speaker 11 (19:54):
Hello, Hey, Hey, you guys, Jeremy, Sorry about that.
Speaker 1 (19:58):
Well, y'all busy on this Friday. Hey boy, they out
there taking care of stough.
Speaker 5 (20:01):
Right, how are you?
Speaker 11 (20:02):
Yeah? I'm driving? Sorry, hey, I gotta agree with my
guy Rob here. They're in a tough division. I think
they were runs coming coming to an end. Are you
forget how hard it is to win consistently in the NFL?
You know, you got Kelsey wanting to be a celebrity
and then uh where she'd we you know, gett suspended
(20:26):
here soon. I like to charges tonight, big, and I
think the Chiefs are going to have a tough time
getting to the playoffs.
Speaker 10 (20:33):
Thanks for taking the call.
Speaker 5 (20:34):
Appreciate it.
Speaker 3 (20:34):
Thank you, boy. I'll tell you what. Casey's an honest,
level headed guy. Fourteen fifteen and two should have been
sixteen to one. Boy robbed you that fall off the box? Oh,
sixteen and one, Lucky robbed you. You saw it last year?
Speaker 7 (20:49):
Come on, man, it was so much luck with My
Raiders were clearly better than them at least one game exactly,
and they still lost.
Speaker 5 (20:56):
A man sixteen and one. I'm not dealing with y'all right.
Speaker 1 (20:59):
Now, A right, we got some forty nine ers talk
to player not to play, that is the question. And
what does it mean for the QB. We'll tell you
what we're talking about on the other side right now,
Steven Sager.
Speaker 2 (21:08):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Odd Couple
with Rob Parker and Kelvin Washington weekdays at seven pm Eastern,
four pm Pacific on Fox Sports Radio and the iHeartRadio app.
Speaker 5 (21:20):
He is Steve de Segre. Thank you so much, Steve,
appreciate it. A couple.
Speaker 1 (21:23):
Robert Kelvin on a funky Flashback Friday. Akeynee stiff back
joints on our cooperate. Well, some days your body is
just like nope, And all those days, thankfully there is
a lead with just one peal. The lead provides hup
to twelve hours of pain relief so you can keep moving.
Used as directed, Rob g. This's been everybody's like, Christian
McCaffrey's playing, he's not.
Speaker 5 (21:44):
He's out.
Speaker 1 (21:44):
He got this calf strained. Everybody who drafted him in
their fantasy league he's like, no, here we go again.
But now it looks like he's still gonna play even
with being he's questionable with that cave injury.
Speaker 5 (21:57):
But that's the latest with him. As far as playing
this week.
Speaker 7 (22:00):
Yeah, he's questionable, but if we're being honest, it's not
looking good because he will now have been limited on
Thursday and out on Friday. Now it is possible, but historically,
if a player misses Friday, which is supposed to be
the lightest day of the week, chances are he's not
gonna play barring something unforeseen, which means when the San
(22:20):
Francisco forty nine ers kickoff on Sunday on the road
in Seattle, brock Party will be taking the field without
Christian McCaffrey, without Brandon Ayuk, and of course Deebo Samuel
has already been traded well. So if that's the case,
cal Vil's are with you, Do you think that brock
(22:41):
Perty should still win that game minus the rest of
the Avengers?
Speaker 5 (22:44):
Yep, yep.
Speaker 1 (22:47):
And I just paid you hundreds millions of dollars. As
to why you at that level that I'm paying you
as a forty three mili year whatever, my expectation is
for you to find ways to win a handful of
game games. Just because you found a way to win them, now,
that doesn't mean that I expect you to officly, you know, Hey,
no matter who's there, he's still gonna win twelve games,
you know, missing a bunch of players.
Speaker 5 (23:08):
But absolutely, I believe you've been in the system. You're
not a new guy.
Speaker 1 (23:12):
You're not Sam Donald coming to the Seahawks, still getting
acclimated right, still going through a Chaney camp, still finding
his ways, getting rapport with the team, finding the chemistry.
You've been here, same ownership, down the GM, down the
head coach, down to you. We've got a nice run.
Now you know the system, you know what we do.
We still got enough players, we still can run the ball.
We still got kittled. We still practically picked up a
(23:32):
couple people offensively as well in their draft and even
free agency picked the receiver. So the expectation is for
me go out here and find a way to win this.
And Sam Donald's is a new situation. He shouldn't come
out here and outplay you. So absolutely, to me, I
look at this as this is why we pay you.
We believe that you are a difference maker, not that
you're Patrick Mahomes, not that you have to be Lamar Jackson,
(23:55):
but that you can win some games when things are advantageous,
when things aren't exactly how we want them to be.
And he himself acknowledged that understands that that he has
to be better, also acknowledged that he put a little
too much on his shoulders trying to prove and get
back to the super Bowl and putever, you know, prove
how great he was. But man, my expectation is, you
still have to win this game. If I'm col shann ain't.
Speaker 5 (24:15):
Come on.
Speaker 1 (24:16):
We got enough talent out here, we got enough continuity,
you can win this game.
Speaker 3 (24:21):
I'm out on Brock Party. I've seen Brock Purdy without
a loaded roster and players, and he struggled, you know
he did, and when he got in there was a
great system. I know they paid him, they felt compelled,
they had no choice, But I do I think the
forty nine ers are winning the super Bowl with Rock Party. No.
I think their window of opportunity has come and gone.
Speaker 5 (24:44):
You know, they've already shed a lot of habitual windows shutter,
it's done.
Speaker 3 (24:49):
I'm just saying like it because they don't stay open
that long. Like windows don't stay open, there's an opening.
That's why teams don't repeat, you know what I mean.
It's real hard for teams to and do stuff like that.
It's just rough. It's hard to win. It's hard to
have everything together. You have a team, you know what
I mean, and it's working out or whatever, and then
(25:10):
the next year you lose somebody, or somebody gets hurt
or you can't pay them or something else, and it's
just hard to put that together.
Speaker 5 (25:17):
And that's why you can't blow opportunities when they are there.
I'm not that.
Speaker 3 (25:24):
Excited about the forty nine ers or feel like they're
in the mix. If aout to take the top five
teams in the NFC, the forty nine ers are on
one of them.
Speaker 1 (25:31):
No, they're not for me either, but they're not far off.
I mean, I think in their own division, I put
the Rams ahead of them. We obviously know for me
the Lions. The Packers are right there as well, the
Bucks especially just because of the division area, and they
should be there. Commanders should be there as well, So
they're not far off.
Speaker 5 (25:48):
They're not.
Speaker 1 (25:48):
I don't think they're far off the forty nine ers,
and again based off their contuity, just kind of having
their system and their way of winning, I don't expect
them to be bad. In fact, if they make the postseason,
I would not be shocked at all, and.
Speaker 5 (26:01):
Are they making a postseason?
Speaker 1 (26:03):
Said let me, I had literally have to I'd have
to write out all the teams before I okay, because
you'd have to let me you know.
Speaker 3 (26:09):
Because that was just noncommittal that you wouldn't be shocked
because you.
Speaker 5 (26:12):
Didn't trying to cut the teams.
Speaker 3 (26:14):
Not just saying I'm not putting you on the rec ORRD,
but I'm just saying to say, I wouldn't be shocked
like that's that's why I don't look at you to
be able to say I told you that they would
make it, or I didn't tell you that they were going.
Speaker 1 (26:25):
To looking at it just right now without riding the
teams down, I would have them making the postseason. I
would have them in. I think they would be similar
to what we and we're gonna talk about a little
bit later the Cowboys in that. I don't think they're
going to be maybe some people out on forty nine ers,
and I think some people we had to eat from
here who would little I think a little too high
on the forty nine ers. So I think, to me,
(26:47):
they can ten games, get a wild car spot ten to eleven, uh,
and then from there once you ran you're in, you
never know what happens.
Speaker 5 (26:55):
But back to you, ha bitu A window shutter? What? Actually?
Speaker 1 (26:59):
I disagree with the win those shutting that you do
not with the forty nine ers. Just there are teams,
didn't We.
Speaker 3 (27:04):
Just see McCaffrey can't stay health Now that's not but
that's a part of the forty nine.
Speaker 5 (27:09):
So why would I believe in the forty nine isn't
thinking that they're.
Speaker 1 (27:11):
Gonna wint to talk about eventually shutting them. I'm talking
about you saying the window is the window close with
the Chiefs?
Speaker 5 (27:19):
The window yeah? Or is still over with the Chiefs?
Speaker 3 (27:22):
Well, I think they have more of a chance than
like the Lions is shut like shut what I mean
by the teams are shut.
Speaker 1 (27:31):
We've seen teams have a very nice long window of opportunity,
Like the Seahawks had one for some time, The Steelers
had it for Ben Roethlisberger. The forty nine Ers have
had it with Jimmy g and then they had it
with now Rock Purty. And like when you have a
good coach, a good quarterback, and a good system, that
window isn't as closed as you're making it. To me,
(27:52):
this is just me I don't. I don't see it.
I mean, we're not even gonna The Patriots are such
an anomaly. I'll even go that's an anomaly. But the
Chiefs too.
Speaker 3 (27:59):
Different teams in the NFL that have no shot and
haven't had a shot to win in twenty years.
Speaker 5 (28:05):
I mean, what are you telling me?
Speaker 2 (28:06):
You know?
Speaker 1 (28:07):
What I'm saying is when a team, to me is aligned, right,
they got a good GM, they got connuity there, they
got a good coach's connuity, and then they got their guys,
their quarterback, the window is open, especially when you don't
have a perennial It's not like the Warriors in the
NBA were for a handful of years.
Speaker 5 (28:22):
It was like just here, just give it to them.
Just gives you the Warriors.
Speaker 3 (28:26):
I just there are a lot of teams that have
really no shot. The NFL comes down to the same,
roughly four or five teams.
Speaker 5 (28:33):
That rights should be in that mix. But you're saying that.
Speaker 3 (28:37):
Because because they've had two golden opportunities. I'm not saying
it just based off of their talent or whatever. They
should have gone to the Super Bowl two years ago
and blew out the forty nine in the first half.
They won fifteen games, a franchise record, had home field,
were nine and a half point favorites against a rookie
(28:58):
quarterback and got blown out in their own buildings. So
then you lose your two coordinators and the quarterback who
you thought was maybe gonna be be different in Detroit
is the same guy they got rid of in l A.
It was exposed last year. You saw the bad Jared
(29:18):
golf when it mattered most.
Speaker 1 (29:20):
But that's not closing a win. Yes it does. A
couple of years ago, Jared hurts. The team looks mad
as nobody said there. Nobody said that their window was
closed because their window wasn't. But the difference is they
went to the super Bowl. The Lion didn't go Okay,
So it's a big difference. You said, the lines in
Philadelphia the same way going to the super Bowl and
(29:44):
a half.
Speaker 3 (29:45):
No going to the super Bowl and a franchise that's
never been to the Super Bowl.
Speaker 1 (29:49):
Yes, one believe it your entire window. Nobody's saying there
that you one.
Speaker 3 (29:54):
It's not one because last year they had everything laid
out for them.
Speaker 5 (29:59):
Tell me that year you didn't think they were going
to the super Bowl.
Speaker 1 (30:02):
Definitely the year before more just because they were healthier,
not riding it out last half point favorites. They have
won that game, have point favorites. When they went to
San Francisco.
Speaker 3 (30:15):
No, they kicked the forty nine ers ass in the
first half. Nobody expected that. Nobody, but nobody.
Speaker 5 (30:23):
Is the window close?
Speaker 1 (30:24):
There's so many I just told you the Matthew Stafford
with the with the Rams, they have good season and
they are they makes the struggle that the window isn't closed.
If you ask me about the Cardinals, yeah, okay, then
they had windows closed or the Panthers a jack. There's
team to me that I don't see why they're winning
high on the pers.
Speaker 5 (30:43):
But I'm telling you why why.
Speaker 3 (30:45):
I'm telling you because the Lions are taking a step backwards,
which will open it up for the for the Packers.
It's because of the Lions dropping down, the Packers are
going to go ahead of them.
Speaker 5 (30:55):
And here's my point. It's a couple of things.
Speaker 3 (30:58):
It is the coach right who I don't believe in,
Dan Gamble, It's the two coordinators who left. It's it's
uh the quarterback and Jared Goff who exposed himself and
showed you why the Rams didn't want him despite him
leading them to a super Bowl.
Speaker 5 (31:17):
It was my point because Matthew Stafford is No, that's
not it.
Speaker 3 (31:20):
They the year, the year they went to the super Bowl,
they averaged thirty five points. It was one of the
fifth it was the fifth highest offenses.
Speaker 5 (31:28):
And then in the NFL.
Speaker 1 (31:30):
And at that time, and what second year ish u
Jared Goff, nobody's gonna take him over Matthew Stafford.
Speaker 5 (31:36):
You've got a chance to get Matthew Stafford. I just don't.
Speaker 3 (31:38):
That's ridiculous made him the wins. Stafford didn't even win
a playoff game before he went to LA. Everybody knew
Matthew Stafford's more Town. Nobody he didn't win a playoff game,
and Jared Goff went to the fin Super Bowl.
Speaker 1 (31:50):
I don't care Brad Johnson stopping Trick Dilferd went to
a super Bowl.
Speaker 5 (31:55):
He ate more talented than than Madwick talking about that.
Speaker 3 (31:58):
But there's one guy who I could at least say,
at least Jared Golf won some big games in a
postseed and got you to the super Bowl. Now he
didn't do well in the Super Bowl. But this whole notion,
if they believed that was just a one off. There's
no reason that they would have traded or got rid.
Speaker 1 (32:13):
Of because he was a second and third year guy
and you got a Matthew Stafford, you've got a chance
to get him what got what?
Speaker 5 (32:18):
No would do that.
Speaker 3 (32:19):
They lost confidence in Jared Golf because they didn't believe
he could get them where they wanted to. And that's
what I'm saying. If you're a Lions fan and you
watched last year, that's the real Jared Golf. That's the trade.
That's the Jared Golf that got traded. They don't believe
he can win the big game. That's what I'm telling you.
Speaker 1 (32:36):
The idea that a team is not making the postseason,
that was that the idea.
Speaker 5 (32:41):
The Chiefs ain't gonna do that. And then the forty
nine ers, the.
Speaker 3 (32:44):
Teams that have had everybody's good and everybody's gonna make
the playoffs, and handful.
Speaker 1 (32:49):
Of teams that you're over one of them, You're all
over the math. Disagree all of a sudden out of it.
I'll argue with you some morning.
Speaker 5 (33:02):
The other day.

Speaker 2 (34:15):
Shekel City the home base for Rob Parker's Daily Dix
against the Sprat.
Speaker 5 (34:25):
All right, last night one and two.
Speaker 3 (34:28):
I didn't get the football game, right, Cowboys plus eight
and a half.
Speaker 5 (34:33):
That was the best bets. I'm happy about that. The
baseball didn't work out for me. All Right, here we go,
Uh baseball games. I got the Cincinnati Reds plus one
and a half.
Speaker 3 (34:43):
Unfortunately they're down five to one, alrighty to the Metspolitans,
but five.
Speaker 5 (34:48):
Past no stillally I know, right, thank god?
Speaker 1 (34:51):
Uh?
Speaker 3 (34:52):
And then I have the Dodgers minus one and a half.
They're in Baltimore taking on the Orioles who just swept
the Padres. But they're threat in the third in a
couple of runners on a couple of outs. So there
we go.
Speaker 5 (35:05):
Oh what is your record now? Because when you hit
the reset button, the record is one and two? Because
that was last night. That was the reset.
Speaker 3 (35:13):
Yeah, last, but not least football, I'm taking the Chargers plus.
Speaker 5 (35:20):
Chargers plus three and a half.
Speaker 3 (35:22):
Chargers in Brazil taking on the Kansas City Chiefs.
Speaker 8 (35:27):
Uh.
Speaker 3 (35:28):
You know, Jim Harborough gonna win a big game eventually.
I'm gonna say he gets the season off right with
the w in a foreign country. So Chargers plus three
and a half, Red plus one and a half and
the Dodgers minus one and a half. And remember, Calvin,
what's that. I'm not telling you who to bet on.
I'm telling you who I bet on.
Speaker 5 (35:48):
All right, there you have it.
Speaker 1 (35:51):
Yeah, we got that game coming up here a little
bit from Brazil, which, by the way, you and I
have talked about it a lot off air, like I'm
not happy if I'm if I'm I see the collision.
Speaker 5 (35:59):
We just saw this game.
Speaker 1 (36:00):
If I'm the Chargers, you know, you lose a home game, Now,
there's something to be said that usually the stadiums fifty
to fifty for them, you know, their home games.
Speaker 5 (36:09):
But you know you lose that home game, that home cry.
Speaker 1 (36:11):
I just wouldn't be in favor of it, especially week one, Right,
you kinda want to start the season off at home
at the crib.
Speaker 7 (36:17):
Well, guys, it's even worse than that. Yeah, have you
seen the field? I know it hasn't child the broadcast. Yeah,
could we got all this baseball on for whatever reason?
Speaker 10 (36:24):
Right?
Speaker 5 (36:24):
What are you talking about? My gosh, if you look
at the stadium, the football game. Start. I can't watch
face forget it was football.
Speaker 7 (36:32):
I'm going to get a lad like Dak Prescott's.
Speaker 3 (36:35):
Who wants to watch nine pregame hosts talk about nothing?
Speaker 5 (36:40):
Who wants to listen to a guy in the Jordan?
Jack can talk about nothing once, but at any event,
this is a good looking Joe. This is your weding.
I told you it's nice six months ago. This is
supposed to be a Chargers home game.
Speaker 7 (36:52):
Tell me why in the end zone you got one
size Chargers, one sized Chiefs.
Speaker 5 (36:56):
Oh no, we got beef. I'm gonna drop the ball right,
doesn't make sense.
Speaker 1 (37:01):
They don't even know what to do. We don't normally
do this. You know, we thought it was a soccer game,
and you said football.
Speaker 5 (37:08):
My bad.
Speaker 7 (37:08):
If you're on the ground back that little meme, mister Jerge,
how much you pay the new guys. That's too much money?
Like that's what's happening right now. You're about to get fined. No,
that's out of line. I'm already losing the home game.
At least give me the illusion of a home game.
At least lie to me.
Speaker 5 (37:23):
It's just I get it.
Speaker 3 (37:24):
They're trying to make the start of the season special
or whatever. Brazil doesn't deserve this game. Can we start
when it's a rival, it's a divisional rival. Brazil deserved
this game. Why can't they watch the Jaguars and the Colts?
I mean, like, why that's the game?
Speaker 5 (37:39):
Great?
Speaker 3 (37:39):
That was a perfect one, right because they the people
in Brazil, what are you going to go like, Oh,
I don't want to go see the Jaguars. I'm not
going I guess an NFL game in Brazil. I'll just
be happy to be able to go there.
Speaker 1 (37:50):
You give up two of the best quarterbacks in the league,
who you know is supposed to be Magic's supposed to
be a big year for both teams. Like, we don't
get to watch that here and get to the festivity.
Is the feel of American football now? I just think, Yeah,
you send the bad team. This is the the whether
you want to say the reward. Maybe they enjoy getting
free trip to Brazil, but this is what you get
(38:10):
for being a bad team. You got to go play
your first game somewhere else, you know, that's the penalty
of it.
Speaker 3 (38:15):
Yeah, it's supposed to be like like the Drags had
three games in London like.
Speaker 5 (38:18):
That, we export the jacks all the time.
Speaker 1 (38:20):
You need some here, send the jacks because they can't
sell all tickets there.
Speaker 5 (38:25):
What time is it in Brazil for the start of
the game. Do we know what the time different? Three hours?
Four hours within?
Speaker 1 (38:30):
Do we know four hours difference? Okay, so it's late.
It'll be late in that game there. But I have
a feeling they probably get it in all night. Not
at all the same. But when I was in Madrid,
it's about six how many interceptions from homes?
Speaker 5 (38:46):
Two or three?
Speaker 1 (38:46):
Well one Max justin Herbert loses on the last second drive.
Speaker 5 (38:51):
I'm just asking
