Speaker 4 (02:51):
Good and black frog. I'm just saying, you know, those two.

Speaker 1 (02:54):
They don't have to be mutually exclusive. It can be
a good Black Friday to you too. Yes, no, feel
good man, Like you mentioned, dude, there's a lot of
stuff we're getting the we're less than a week away
from the draft. Uh we gottwer in Uh playing tournament games.
We got the of course playoffs kicking off tomorrow. So

Speaker 5 (03:10):
Yeah, oh yeah, so much to do. Man, can't wait. Uh,
let's welcome in the odd couple crew. Who else we
wouldn't be able to do this fine radio program without him?
Of course, Alex is our engineer, Bo is our producer,
and for Rob g is this? So is that four
weeks down? Four weeks, four weeks, so he's got two
more weeks off before maybe he comes back.

Speaker 4 (03:31):
I don't think he's not coming back. Okay, Bore you
ready to take over? He's not coming back?

Speaker 5 (03:36):
Okay, both says thumbs up and at the anchor desk
will keep us updated throughout the program, mister Martin Weiss.

Speaker 4 (03:43):
Uh, he'll get that done. And on the social media,
it's our guru.

Speaker 6 (03:48):
I never heard of him.

Speaker 2 (03:50):
Waited you hesitated? Rob? That was.

Speaker 6 (03:54):
Heard of him.

Speaker 5 (03:55):
Is our social media guru, one of the best in
the business man.

Speaker 4 (03:59):
So hey, let's go here, let's start, let's do it.

Speaker 2 (04:04):
Do it.

Speaker 4 (04:05):
Let's do it.

Speaker 2 (04:06):
Do it.

Speaker 4 (04:07):
We'll do it live that we will do it live.

Speaker 2 (04:09):
Do it. So do it.

Speaker 4 (04:11):
Thank you here it is.

Speaker 5 (04:13):
Luca sat down for an interview at ESPN. Was that
Malika Andrews correct?

Speaker 2 (04:20):
It was, yes, it was.

Speaker 5 (04:21):
I just for a minute, couldn't remember, but it was
interested in listening to him, and he talked about, you know,
the criticism that he heard and he wants to move on,
and you know it wasn't it's painful, I guess is
the word that he used.

Speaker 4 (04:38):
But let's take a listen to Luca and on ESPN.

Speaker 7 (04:43):
You hang up the phone then that you're traded and
you threw it. Yes, do you have that phone? Yeah,
you still use that phone.

Speaker 4 (04:52):
Yeah it works.

Speaker 8 (04:53):
General manager Nico Harrison of the Dallas Mavericks, you had
this closed door, no cameras meeting with reporters. The reporter said,
you didn't believe that the team that went to the
finals last year with Luca as a centerpiece could contend
and continue to contend for championships and Nico Harrison said,
I'll say this again, defense wins championships.

Speaker 7 (05:12):
What do you say to that it is.

Speaker 9 (05:13):
Said and the way he's talking right now, But I
never say anything bad about him, and I just want
to move on the fans, my ex teammates.

Speaker 7 (05:20):
I'll always keep it hard.

Speaker 2 (05:22):
It's time too.

Speaker 7 (05:22):
For me to move on from that. Have you spoken
to Nico Harrison since you left Dallas?

Speaker 4 (05:27):
No?

Speaker 7 (05:28):
Have you spoken to him on the night that you
were traded?

Speaker 9 (05:30):
No?

Speaker 7 (05:31):
Was your intention to finish your career in Dallas?

Speaker 3 (05:33):
Of course, that's easy question.

Speaker 2 (05:36):
There.

Speaker 3 (05:36):
It is there.

Speaker 4 (05:37):
It is criticism of Luca. You know a couple of
things you could criticize as.

Speaker 5 (05:45):
Thirty thirty five year old body on a twenty five
year old guy.

Speaker 2 (05:49):
First of all, you always say that like it was documented. Okay,
what why you call that man thirty five instead of
twenty five?

Speaker 4 (05:55):
I'm just saying.

Speaker 5 (05:57):
And also, you know defense, We all know that nobody's
breaking any news that he's not a great defensive player,
are we?

Speaker 2 (06:05):
I hope he would even admit at times he has been.

Speaker 4 (06:08):
And that would have been my follow up question.

Speaker 5 (06:11):
Seriously, when he says that, well, are you a good defender?

Speaker 4 (06:16):
Are you a good.

Speaker 2 (06:16):
Defend Do you agree with that statement.

Speaker 4 (06:19):
Right that you're not a good defender.

Speaker 5 (06:21):
I'm just I would like to hear him say I
am or I'm my defensive I can get better or whatever. Yeah, no,
I'm not improve with that. But there wasn't a question
that was asked. You know what I'm saying, I just
would do that. But anyway, Uh, where the question really
is is the criticism of Luca inbounds or out of bows?

(06:42):
And I'm just gonna start the criticism is fair. It's
in bounds defensive leaders issues. Now here's the other part.

Speaker 4 (06:55):
I get it.

Speaker 5 (06:55):
When you make a trade like that and you're trying
to justify the trade and you have talking points. You
can talk about the guy's offense. Can you not when
he's a five time first team All NBA Okay, and
we know what he can do offensively, So yes, you
have to come up with something.

Speaker 4 (07:16):
And defense is.

Speaker 5 (07:19):
Something that you could use, especially since you got Anthony
Davis in return. Right, he can a d can block,
he's a big guy, can grab rebounding. Okay, defensively, yes,
so if you're on that kick, Nico didn't come up
with the idea that defense wins championships. It's a cliche, right,

(07:39):
We've heard it for a million years, Calvin Right, defense
wins championships. You can score all day, Can you get
a stop? Can you get a block at the ram?
Can you protect the ram? All this other stuff. But again,
I don't believe this is a basketball trade. But is
he beyond criticism? No, he's not beyond criticism. He's not

(08:03):
a perfect basketball player. If somehow the Lakers lose in
the first round or something and you see lackluster defense
from Luker, lackluster Luca on defense, trust me, people will
chime in on that and talk about his defense.

Speaker 4 (08:21):
So I don't have an issue with it at all.

Speaker 5 (08:24):
I think when people are asking you to explain the
trade and why you did what you did, you have
to use the idea or the narrative about defense because
that's his only weak spot.

Speaker 2 (08:38):
Well, here's the issue I have.

Speaker 1 (08:39):
The issue I have has been the last couple of
months since this all happened.

Speaker 2 (08:43):
Rob. My issue is is.

Speaker 1 (08:44):
This the NBA or TMZ Because what we've had happen
was you chose to make a decision, and that's their right.
They're an ownership group. He's a GM they chose to
make a move. I believe it was a crazy move,
but that's their right. However, it's how you do things.
And it seems as though since they've been backpedaling and
trying to explain their way through this and justify their moves,

(09:07):
they're starting to integrate the man. They're starting to take
jabs and stabs at the man on the way out.

Speaker 2 (09:13):
And now, oh, well, I.

Speaker 1 (09:14):
Mean, you know who could Oh he's overweight, he didn't
play defense. Oh it's condition show me to quote, show
me to quote from from any front office or or
I'm glad you said that. I'm I'm glad saying show
me glad you said that. They haven't. They have insinuated
that he was not cooperating with physics direct quote hold on, Yes,

(09:37):
they just they insinuate that he was not cooperating with
his physician, their physicians, that they believe he should have
been with them when he was training, and they don't
believe that he was training the proper way, that is
factual defense wins championship saying that insinuate he doesn't play defense. Well,
let me tell you what, how about you gm your
way to a defensive team, because I can tell you
ten to twelve historically great players who worn't great defensively.

(10:01):
Steph Curry ain't great defensively, Larry Bird wasn't great defensively,
Shaq wasn't great defensively.

Speaker 2 (10:08):
You can GM your.

Speaker 1 (10:09):
Way to other teams, other players and a system to defense.
And my thing is this when reports come out, when
in you windows are being said, and you don't shut
them down, you don't speak up, you don't handle it,
in my opinion, with class in a way of saying, man,
it's not about.

Speaker 2 (10:28):
Anything we heard.

Speaker 1 (10:28):
We just felt we made a need to make a
basketball move to write the ship and get us where
we were going.

Speaker 2 (10:34):
You don't have to.

Speaker 1 (10:35):
Keep going, not answering questions, letting things fester and sit
around where hey, I didn't say you didn't. I was
just saying it's out there. That to me is where
it's disappointing. That's why you heard Lucas say the way
they're talking about me, the stuff they keep saying about me,
I haven't said anything bad about them, So that's to me.

Speaker 4 (10:52):
We got dumb. What's the bad thing? He got dumb?

Speaker 5 (10:56):
And the question really could be seriously, well, why did
they get rid of you, you know what I mean, Like, seriously,
if he's saying that on the interview, I'm just I'm
not sitting here like I'm the all world interviewer. But
those are questions that could have been, well, why did
they trade you?

Speaker 4 (11:13):
Why do you why do you think you were traded?

Speaker 1 (11:17):
But right, and I think at this point he would
probably say, I don't know, I was committed, I was
all in, I bought it. I was buying a house,
you know, Like, I don't think he would answer for them,
but that's the question to be as that is a
question we asked. I don't disagree with that at all.
But to me, I just think it's been out of bounds.
How they're continuously dude, trades happened all the time, Rob,
this is the most backtracking's talking about it, doing weird

(11:40):
press conferences where okay, only select few can come, but
don't bring your recorder, don't make a TV like. They're
acting so weird how they're handling this, and that lets
me know that they know they were in the wrong,
and now they're backtracking, trying to cover their tracks and
pease everybody. It's whether or not a question it was
out of bounce absolutely out of bounds. How far they've gone.

(12:01):
You made a trade, make your initial statement, stand by
your statement, move on.

Speaker 2 (12:06):
It's out of bounce. How it keeps going?

Speaker 5 (12:08):
Rob It keep goes in bounds because when you make
a trade for a player of that ilk, it didn't
go away after one day. Okay, you made a trade.
Nobody brings it up. He's an all time greater and
international star. So there was a stretched out period before
you got to hear from different people, before you got
to hear from Luca, before you got to hear from Nicos.

(12:29):
So this all makes sense to me. It's not them
stretching it out. Is that they didn't talk for a while.
Eight seven, seven ninety nine on Fox eight seven seven
nine nine six sixty three sixty nine. It is the
odd couple on a funky flashback Friday. Where are you
is the christicism of Luca? In bounds or out of bounds?

(12:49):
We heard him boohoo in on ESPN. He says it's painful.
I call it reality. What do you think it is?
The odd couple? You know what you need to do, stick.

Speaker 2 (13:01):
And stay on a good Friday in the US of A.

Speaker 3 (13:05):

Fox Reporter. I should say, we're gonna have pick by

(14:13):
pick predictions and reactions to every first round pick. That's
next Thursday, a PM Eastern first round of the Draft,
live right here in Fox Sports Radio presented by Express Pros.
All Right, Rob and I talking about right now in
bounds or out of bounds, the way Nico Harrison and
the comments that they had, uh and the criticism towards
Luca eight seven, seven, nine to nine on Fox.

Speaker 5 (14:34):
All right, let's go Antonio in Miami. You're on the
odd couple of Fox Sports Radio. What's up, buddy?

Speaker 6 (14:40):
Hey, what's going on?

Speaker 3 (14:41):
Guys?

Speaker 1 (14:42):
Uh?

Speaker 6 (14:42):
Just three quick so I'm trying to wrap it up
in less than a minute. Number One, I definitely believe
the death Mavericks, the running business. They have the option
to let them go, to do it, to trade them,
do what is right. I'm tired of world. We're living
with workers, right, and you know, with somehow the employer,

(15:05):
it's somehow the boss of everybody. And this goes outside
of sports. The second point and Rob, you know, I
mean you were covering it. Since everyone that's.

Speaker 1 (15:20):
Seven very good by two of your favorite things to say,
cover the leagues is nineteen eeveny seven And since Moby
get was it?

Speaker 9 (15:26):
Was it?

Speaker 5 (15:27):
Thank you appreciate that that's funny. At Todio, uh Trey
in Texas. You're in the couple of Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 2 (15:35):
What's up, Tray, what's up?

Speaker 6 (15:37):
Y'all know?

Speaker 4 (15:38):
Doing good?

Speaker 10 (15:38):
Yod No good man.

Speaker 6 (15:41):
I think it's out of line, man, that's that line.

Speaker 4 (15:45):
Why what's what's out of line?

Speaker 5 (15:46):
He's the great defender and and uh Nico doesn't know
what he's talking about?

Speaker 4 (15:50):
What what's what's out of line?

Speaker 9 (15:52):
Like I said, man, I mean, well, even millions of
people around the world. Man, there's something else going on
that they ain't saying. I just I don't know what
it is.

Speaker 5 (16:00):
I think you're right, and I think that they haven't
said that, you know what I mean? Like, if they
really wanted to put some some mob blood in the water,
they could have easily leaked that out.

Speaker 4 (16:10):
Whatever it really is, they ain't.

Speaker 2 (16:12):
They sure ain't shutting some other stuff up right what
I'm saying.

Speaker 5 (16:15):
But I'm saying that there's something else out there if
they really wanted to.

Speaker 4 (16:20):
If I do.

Speaker 1 (16:21):
Believe Nico was disappointed, and you know the defense that
Luca gott I do believe. But my thing is, when
you have a talent that special, you can gm around that, right,
You know Steve Nash was never a great defense like,
there's plenty of everybody can't. Everybody can't be amazing. But
I mentioned Larry Bird who won three. Steph Curry has four.

Speaker 4 (16:41):
For what you mentioned, you just mentioned somebody who.

Speaker 2 (16:42):
Don't know what I was saying.

Speaker 1 (16:43):
I was using an example of just like you can
have great He had a lot of success, not championship,
but I named plenty of dudes who weren't great defenders.
My point is just you can. Gee, that's my job.
I'm gonna gm around that.

Speaker 5 (16:54):
Who else we got Drew in New Jersey on the
Odd Couple of Fox Sports Radio, what's up Drew?

Speaker 10 (17:03):
Hey, guys, I think that it is. I think it's
full active outrage because the same criticize, the same criticism
can be said about kids. They have the same exact body.
They both are awful defenders. Part of the reason why
the one with the Nuggets is they hit they hid.

Speaker 4 (17:19):
No, that's not it.

Speaker 2 (17:21):
Drew Drew Drew Drew.

Speaker 5 (17:23):
One guy's won three m v ps and won a championship.
The other guy has and come on, man, before.

Speaker 2 (17:31):
That's the point. They had k c B. They have
Bruce Bruce Brown. They literally covered up.

Speaker 4 (17:38):
No, it's not the same. They're not the same.

Speaker 1 (17:40):
It's literally exactly what we're saying, covering up the weaknesses
that and they had. They put together a great roster,
and that doesn't mean they got rid of those guys.

Speaker 5 (17:49):
Still doesn't mean that when you don't win and you
have those issues, that you can't bring that up as
a reason. Okay, so Ki has one ring for all
these one you're talking about one like, like, you know,
what I'm saying is great player, got none Patrick.

Speaker 4 (18:06):
MVP. He's saying one.

Speaker 1 (18:07):
What I'm saying is he only got to the Western
Conference finals in the ring. You're acting like jo kids
gets to the finals every other year. So if he
if he, it's about in the first round, we need
to get rid of him because he's a bad defender.

Speaker 4 (18:19):
Nobody said that.

Speaker 5 (18:20):
I'm saying lot equating the two as equals. One that
hasn't won an m v P, one hasn't won a championship.
They're not equals, That's all I'm saying.

Speaker 4 (18:30):
They're not. I don't care how good Luca is. They're
not equals, not yet.

Speaker 1 (18:35):
Man, and one dude has a ring that he got it,
then he ain't did nothing.

Speaker 4 (18:40):
Else since you go watch Did you watch the postseason?
He put on a clinic?

Speaker 1 (18:44):
It was one of the greatest postseason runs, and I
looking up to the final, it was the great I'm
talking about in the finals.

Speaker 2 (18:54):
I'm not. I'm not.

Speaker 1 (18:57):
It was his story. He's nice, it was his story.
What I'm saying is if he doesn't win again. Okay,
do we start questioning we need to trade.

Speaker 4 (19:05):
A lot of guys only won one. What are you saying,
I don't. I don't know trade if he doesn't win again.

Speaker 5 (19:10):
When I'm saying he's not playing DJs in five hundred
pounds and not working out with the media staff, I don't.

Speaker 1 (19:16):
Know three hundred. All right, we'll argue about this some more.
Rich Oiburner getting ready to join us a little bit.
We'll talk some NFL action with him. Yes, there's plenty
of NBA to get back to a little bit later
on as well. We are joined now by rich Orenberger,
former NFL offensive line FSRS Countdown presented by bet MGM

(19:37):
that you can listen to on Saturdays, nine am the
noon East.

Speaker 2 (19:40):
To stand the time. Rich Man, what's up? I've talked
to you a little bit.

Speaker 4 (19:42):
How you be Rich how are you.

Speaker 9 (19:44):
I'm good, Calvin, Rob. I'm happy to be back with
you guys. Yeah, it's been a little bit. How's everybody doing.
I love I love the sound of you guys together.
By the way, it's awesome.

Speaker 6 (19:53):
Man.

Speaker 4 (19:53):
I appreciate that.

Speaker 1 (19:54):
Man. I'm glad you said, because you know, sometimes I
gotta get upside his head.

Speaker 4 (19:57):
Even if Calvin's wrong all the time. Rich. But you know.

Speaker 2 (20:01):
Rob, you know, Rich is a smart man.

Speaker 4 (20:03):
He knows what it is.

Speaker 1 (20:04):
Okay, Hey, rich Man, we are less than a week
away from the NFL Draft. I will say this, and
I don't know if Rob agrees with me or not,
but of course exactly this, you know, Rob, this is
one time I think you might actually agree me. While
there has been juicy one or two stories, there hasn't
really been a lot outside of the Colorado Boys. In

(20:25):
my opinion, everybody kind of came wards number one, and
then it just goes back and forth between Travis Hunter
two or three and Will Shadu or drop down seven.

Speaker 2 (20:35):
Uh what do you what do you make of this draft?

Speaker 1 (20:36):
That it really, in my opinion, as I just mentioned,
it's kind of come down to just the Colorado Buffalo Boys.

Speaker 9 (20:42):
Yeah, you know, it's gonna be interesting to see where
those guys land obviously both super talented and both impressed
evaluators during their their pre draft visits and the situations
where they did, you know, go through the test, because
that's all this is. You're just constantly being tested and

(21:03):
poked and prodded and having your mind craft open so
these guys can see if you are a worthy asset
to invest in. I mean, when you think about it,
if you are I don't know, somebody with a little scratch,
a little wealth and you're going to buy into a
business or invest into a stock. Before you make a
lofty investment, you are going to turn the thing over

(21:26):
a million different ways. You're going to stress testes. You're
going to see what people around you believe, and you're
going to see if those beliefs match your own. You know, essentially,
at the end of the day, it's the owner's decision,
right because that's the guy writing the checks. But you
have these talented value evaluators who need to come to
a consensus or something nearing a consensus at least to

(21:48):
in view that that information upon the owner to make
the final determination. I look at the Colorado guys Shador
and Travis Hunter. And I say to my so, who
has more value immediately to a team, And the answer
is obvious to me. It's Shador and that's just because
of the position he plays. We know how detrimental it

(22:10):
is when you don't have a great wide receiver one,
but we also know how many talented wide receivers come
out of the draft every year, how many wide receivers
become real NFL talents during the course of their career.
We cannot say the same for the quarterback position. So
if you have potential leaving college at that position, teams

(22:31):
are going to take much bigger swings on that position
in the first round at least. And the reason is
very obvious, because if you get that right, you can
set yourself up for a decade of success.

Speaker 5 (22:44):
But here's rich The only problem I had with that,
And it makes sense. I understand, it's a quarterback league.
Without a quarterback, your team is basically sunk. Okay, so
I get all that, but there have been a lot
of quarterbacks who've been bussed in the first round just
haven't panned out as well. And in the case of Shador,
I think if it's logical that most people don't believe

(23:07):
this is a great quarterback class and because.

Speaker 4 (23:11):
Maybe his size or he's not you know, like the.

Speaker 5 (23:15):
Can't miss talent, can't miss as good as he is,
that they can say.

Speaker 4 (23:22):
Oh, well, yeah, we don't have to take him.

Speaker 5 (23:25):
If he's there at twenty or fifteen, yeah, maybe I'll
take him. But is he really uh he's going to
be taken in the top three for sure, because it
just sounds like it's it's not going to be that way.

Speaker 9 (23:39):
Yeah, I mean, it sounds like I'm i'm, i'm, I'm
playing both two sides against the middle. But it really
comes down to one team making the decision out of
thirty two, where you know, maybe some people will be like,
oh my gosh, you know, te Max really reached taking
at right here. Oh my god, you know, Oh my goodness,

(24:00):
I can't believe all of these teams allowed Shador to
fall to us at fifteen or whatever it is, like,
you know, because it all depends on where Shaudor is
valued on these different draft boards, and you can't trust
a single thing that you've heard or listened to over
the course of the past.

Speaker 4 (24:17):
I agree with you. I agree with you. One hundred percent.
Most of it is just poppy cop It's a smoke screen.

Speaker 9 (24:24):
A lot of the times they're trying to poke around
and see what they can find by floating out different stories,
and so as a result, it really is hard to
you know, I don't know. I guess sort through all
of the noise and get to the real information. Here's
the real information I can provide from you, and it's
the information that I ascertained using my own eyes. Shador

(24:45):
standards is a rare talent at the college level because
of the type of arm he has and the type
of athleticism he possesses. Now, does you have an extremely
high completion percentage? Yeah, But as we know, that does
tell the whole story. I mean, see Russell Wilson's status
with Denver. They would tell a much rosier picture than

(25:07):
what it actually looked like. I mean, statistically he was
terrible in Denver. But we know what the Denver Broncos
look like with Russell Wilson at the helm. So don't
trust the stats, trust your eyes. What I see with
Shadoor is a guy who has a high football IQ,
but he can get himself in trouble Trusting his athleticism
more than working the progressions and finding the open man

(25:30):
in the route tree that he's working to either one
side of the field or seeing the whole field. And
that is something that a lot of mobile quarterbacks really
need to approve upon at the next level. And it's
because they can run around or run away from all
their problems in college. You can't do that in the
NFL anymore because the defensive ends are as fast as

(25:51):
the linebackers and some of the secondary players that you're
going to face in college. So where I land on
Shador is there will certainly be certain teams that undervalue him,
but I guarantee there will be teams that overvalue him.
So I'm not gonna I'm not gonna slap a guarantee
on this next statement, but I will say, in my opinion,

(26:11):
he looks like a top ten pick all day because, again,
based on potential alone, a team will either take a
big swing in the top ten or they'll trade up
to get into the top ten because they feel like
all the other teams undervalue Shador and they need to
get while they're getting is good.

Speaker 1 (26:29):
He is rich Ornberger. He is our guest right now
on the A Cup. But Robert Kelvin on the fucking
Flashback Friday, let me ask you this.

Speaker 2 (26:36):
You just talked about defensive ends. You know, when you're.

Speaker 1 (26:38):
Saying getting ready to get after the quarterback. I've always
sold robbed that I believe outside of a quarterback, it
seems as of late to me. A defensive end a
guy who can get after the quarterback. You're talking about
Miles Gary, you talking about eight and Hutcheson, you're talking
about TJ.

Speaker 2 (26:50):
Watts, so on and so forth.

Speaker 1 (26:52):
They are the most dependable where I say, hey, I
know this guy's gonna get me fourteen fifteen, eighteen sacks,
some pat you know, the interception, maybe forced fumbles.

Speaker 2 (27:01):
They're highly coveted. Abdua Carter.

Speaker 1 (27:03):
They're saying, he can crash the party, fall at number two,
fall at number three as well, likely maybe three.

Speaker 2 (27:07):
Over to how good is he? Who's he remind you
of him? What do you make of him?

Speaker 9 (27:12):
Oh my gosh, you don't.

Speaker 1 (27:15):
Want to go You don't want to have to kind
of keep him away from the quarterback, did you, Buddy?

Speaker 9 (27:19):
I'm glad I'm retired because players like him and some
of the other ones that you mentioned. I don't even
know how do you handle him? Because he's a problem
in so many different ways. He's a triple threat type
of player. In the pass rush, let's just concentrate on
that for a second. He can bend around tackles. He
can then also bull rush you. He has fleet feets,

(27:40):
so he can also spin off of you. He finds
a way to work with his other adjacent defensive linemen
to work the stunts, and he sets those up amazingly. Well.
I mean, he's such a problem that he changes the
way teams pass protect against Penn State during his time there,
and as a result, you can allow some of the

(28:01):
other pass rushers along the defensive line really shines, and
he can play anywhere on the defensive lines. You look
at his run or his rush defense. This guy is aggressive.
He understands technique, he knows how to close spaces in gaps.
He plays through the v of the neck of the
offensive lineman he's playing against, and he's got backfield eyes.

(28:21):
But he's also patient. He really understands that you have
to read a quarterback's intentions and not guess. He has
all those traits. And then also the triple threat part
comes because he can drop into coverage. So if you're
running a zone blitz, say you have a pretty good
defense and Abdua card Or is your best pass rusher, well,
most of the times you're going to have him rushing
the quarterback, but also sometimes you can use him as

(28:43):
a decoy. He can rush two hard steps up the
field and then drop into coverage, and he can cover
the middle of the field against some of the better
tight ends in college football, and some of those running
backs coming out on angle routes you know, after you
know a green dog and you know they're getting out
of the backfield and things like that. And meanwhile, all
the pressures coming from the opposite way, and because so
much of the protections swung his way, you can have

(29:07):
a guy screaming off the edge opposite with his hair
on fire, looking to ko the quarterback. So if Duel
Carter is going to be a top five pick all
day long, in my opinion, I would assume a team
with a weak defense or who desperately needs the pass rusher,
like the Giants whould be interested. But that guy, I mean,
he's going to make whatever GM who drafts him very happy.

Speaker 5 (29:30):
Hey, last thing, Rich, we got about a minute to
go you got uh the Cleveland Browns, Yeah, dude, can
they afford We already saw the owners say that they
swung and missed on DeShawn Watson, which is genly or
with the guy on the roster still, but anyway, can

(29:51):
they pass up on a quarterback or do they have
so many holes they can't take a quarterback?

Speaker 9 (29:57):
Man? You know, at this point, it almost feels like
unless the value is there, you have so many other
problems on that nice you may as well patch up
the ships while you're locking your wounds from making the
wrong decision at QB. And honestly, if there's a more

(30:17):
tough minded, you know, kind of fan base then the
Cleveland fan base. I can't name them. I mean, the
city has been through it all and they stick with
their team. So look, I suggest they do the same
thing that the forty nine ers did when they stunk
and John Lynch took over. Start from scratch, build it

(30:38):
from the inside out. Get better on your offensive line,
get better on your defensive line. Make sure all the
positions over the middle of the football, including center, noseguard,
middle linebacker, deep safety, and then work your way to
the quarterback position. Because once you're short up across the
line and down the middle of your team on both
sides of the ball. Then you can protect your quarterback

(31:00):
and you can defend against the good quarterbacks in this league.
And that's what I think the Cleveland Brown should.

Speaker 1 (31:04):
Do, all right, rich Yeah, we are less than a
week away, six days. Man, We're gonna see how it
all plays out. Like you said at the beginning, everybody's
lying and posturing and trying to you know, trying to
just put some stories out there as they figure out
what they're gonna do with the draft.

Speaker 2 (31:17):
Appreciate you, rich Man. Have a great weekend.

Speaker 9 (31:19):
Yeah, thank you, Same to you, guys. Always happy to
be on.

daily dicks against the scrap.

Speaker 4 (32:28):
Good night, last night, two and one, close to a
three old night. I'll take that, right, Calvin has been
a lot of one and two nights.

Speaker 2 (32:37):
We'll take that. I'm not mad at that doing that.
It's the slowest, steady walk back to greatness.

Speaker 4 (32:41):
Right, that's right? Did that? Does that?

Speaker 1 (32:44):
Is that what I sound like that? We're not doing
that today? Right, We're not doing Rob Parker. Rob Parker
doesn't know his own voice. We're not doing that today.
All of these okay, that all of these are you
so just f y.

Speaker 2 (32:58):
I don't know if you knew that.

Speaker 1 (32:58):
That doesn't sound like me. You Alex, what was the
one yesterday? He completely forgot?

Speaker 2 (33:06):
What what was that?

Speaker 4 (33:07):
Did he say?

Speaker 2 (33:07):
What did he say yesterday?

Speaker 4 (33:09):
I don't even remember. I can't remember what I ate yesterday.

Speaker 2 (33:11):
I said, Rob, it's easy. Remember what you ate yesterday?

Speaker 1 (33:14):
You had baked chicken, yes, lunch meat and three pieces
of romaine lettuce. Okay, we know, we know iceberg lettuce.
I mean my bag, We know what you ate, Robed?

Speaker 4 (33:24):
Sorry, what doing bait chicken all the time? I got
two pieces in the fridge right now, all right here.

Speaker 1 (33:29):
It's so bad. He hold on, it's so bad, Alex.
That man has different shirts from when he's eating his bitch.

Speaker 5 (33:34):
He's like, I didn't want to get anything on the
white jacket I had yesterday, so I changed jackets to eat.

Speaker 1 (33:41):
That man has a baked chicken jacket. Bro, most of
us have little plastic bits. Not Rob Parker. He's got
a baked chicken jacket. I'm aware this one in case
I drizzle a little chicken.

Speaker 4 (33:52):
I didn't want to put an juice on it.

Speaker 2 (33:54):
And getting juice on the Gucci. No juice on the Gucci.

Speaker 5 (33:57):
All right, we go best bat. I got the Alice
Marwicks plus six and a half. I think they lose,
but not by six and a half. I got the
Miami Heat minus one and a half.

Speaker 4 (34:06):
They're up by eleven. Right now. These all were posted
earlier on social media.

Speaker 5 (34:12):
If your followers me and Fox Sports Radio, and I
got the Kansas City Royals who were desperate for a win.
They got swept by the Yankees, right yep, and they
need to win desperately. So I got the Royals minus
one and a half runs taken on the Tigers in Detroit.
And remember, Kelvin, I'm not telling you, yeah, Tiger, I'm

(34:33):
not telling you who to bet on.

Speaker 4 (34:35):
I'm telling you who I bet on.

Speaker 1 (34:37):
All right, there you have it, two and one. We'll
take that. You can get back to it, all right, man,
you know.

Speaker 2 (34:43):
What we're gonna tell you.

Speaker 4 (34:44):
My record is one hundred and one oh three, so
I can get back to five hundred.

Speaker 1 (34:47):
Isn't that interesting? We always talk about Vegas. All they
need is you to just be below fifty percent. That
so they don't need you to be just win forty
nine and they win. They went big, and they went big.
If you get fifty fifth, you know, if they can
get fifty one to fifty two percent of your your
you know bets and so that's right now. You you
looking about like what you know, average person there you

(35:08):
can bounce back.

Speaker 2 (35:10):
Speaking of speaking of Vegas, the Vegas Raiders.

Speaker 1 (35:13):
They had their general manager president come out and talk
about some of the moves that they're looking to make,
and of course the drafts around the corner. One of
the things I found interesting was him speaking on the
idea of the quarterback position. We know that they have
currently have Gino Smith, you have, of course Pete Carroll
brought him in a familiarity there, But then he going
to say that, look, we're we're gonna get best players

(35:34):
we're gonna get and we want to get that position right.
It's most important position in sports, not just football, and
we're gonna get that right. So as if leaving it
that they're open to, Hey, if Schaedure were to fall there,
you know, maybe we would go up and get Shador.
If they decided to get Dart, that's something maybe they
would do. But they were just saying that we're not

(35:55):
just because we have Gino doesn't mean we're done. And
I like to being open and honest about that now,
you know, you know, just kind of saying, look, man,
we like Genty. Pete Carroll and I both leave running back.
Because he spent time with the Michigan organization where of
course they run heavy they're run heavy, so he understands
important the backs, but he's, hey, man, look we are

(36:16):
trying to get the best players and fill some holes.
And ain't nothing wrong with having a couple of quarterbacks
in this league where quarterback is the is king.

Speaker 4 (36:25):
I get it. But they got so many holes, man,
they need to also show up.

Speaker 2 (36:30):
Their rocket and Swiss cheese over there.

Speaker 4 (36:31):
I mean, that's all I'm saying. And that's like a luxury.

Speaker 5 (36:36):
Like when the Packers got Jordan Love. Right, you already
had a Hall of Fame quarterback, all pro whatever you
want to call them, and you wind up drafting that.

Speaker 4 (36:46):
Did that help Aaron Rodgers and the Packers for right then?
And there?

Speaker 1 (36:49):
You know what I mean, taking the player, I mean
that's a fair you know help. Yeah, I get your point.
Only difference I would say is if I'm looking at
the organizationally, that's what's make the Packers great. I mean,
you've had thirty five however, many years of great quarterback
like toward Love, you might go into the next you know,
decade with really good quarterbacking and good game, you know,

(37:10):
winning season. So I totally get what you mean, Like,
go get some help for.

Speaker 5 (37:14):
Aaron Rodby right for right now and worry about winning
one now. And at some point you'll replenishe the quarterbacks?
If you can get a quarterback?

Speaker 4 (37:24):
I get it. I understand that that that's why you're
good with Rob.

Speaker 1 (37:26):
They've been, they can, They're knocking out decades, you know what.

Speaker 4 (37:29):
I mean, But they haven't won.

Speaker 5 (37:31):
And they never drafted a skill position for him his
entire career in Green Bay. I think that's I mean,
because you're putting so much on him and believing like
it doesn't matter who you have.

Speaker 2 (37:42):
We got him, he can get it now.

Speaker 5 (37:43):
Yeah, you know what I mean that it's a testament
to him that they never drafted a skill position, you
know what I mean, And like fourteen to fifteen years
in Green Bay during his career, it's just crazy.

Speaker 2 (37:54):
No, I totally I get it.

Speaker 1 (37:55):
I just think I'd rather have a shot at winning
a super Bowl at least be in the mix of
the conversation for decade after decade, because I keep getting
the guy that can hold it down for another you know,
seven to twelve years, Brett Farr, Aaron Rodgers, now Jordan
Lovin and eventually somebody else. They could wind up having
forty years a quarterback. That's insane, you know what I mean.
It's teams who cannot get that position right.

Speaker 6 (38:17):
Man.

Speaker 1 (38:17):
They're trying day after day. So I'm definitely in favor
of that. The NBA in a good place right now
with the playoffs. Will tell you
