a friend of mine, mister Ben Maller.

Speaker 4 (01:55):
Rob Parker, my man, Robert.

Speaker 5 (01:57):
This is an astonishing night of radio, no doubt. Yeah,
it's gonna be fantastic. I can't It's like a little
earlier for me, Rob, As you know, I'm not used
to coming on when everyone's sleeping, but there's people actually awake,
so it's it's a little different here.

Speaker 1 (02:10):
This will be great, always great. And I gotta say this, Ben,
I know, before me and you get into it and
and and do all things, I'm just gonna pay homage
to you first, Okay, can I do that?

Speaker 2 (02:22):
Well?

Speaker 5 (02:23):
Let's I want to stop you, right, you know, why
would I stop. I'm gonna praise you, all right. It
makes you make sure you don't miss a spot.

Speaker 4 (02:32):
Go ahead, all right?

Speaker 1 (02:32):
You know, Ben malla one of the all time great
radio guys. Just a great person. Seriously, you work at
a radio network. You know a lot of people, but
are you really friends with them? Are you really friends
with them?

Speaker 6 (02:44):
Ben?

Speaker 1 (02:44):
You know what I'm saying.

Speaker 5 (02:45):
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, you're like work friends. But I
feel like we've crossed over.

Speaker 1 (02:49):
We crossed over.

Speaker 4 (02:51):
We're not just work friends.

Speaker 2 (02:52):
Now.

Speaker 5 (02:52):
We hang out socially from time to Yes, we do.
We always at the Ugly Sweater Party every year. You're
a staple and you always great thing about you, Rob
is you go. I don't want this to be like
we're nice to each other, cause people don't want to
hear that. But but you do go out of your way,
like you travel a lot. People that listen to the
show know that you're always on a plane right normally
not checking bags in and you fly somewhere. But but

(03:14):
you always make time to come and hang out with us.
And we love that, no doubt. And Ben has the
greatest wife. Aaron is just a joy, what a what
a nice person she really is.

Speaker 1 (03:26):
So yes, Ben Mallor who came him and his wife
made it to my sixtieth birthday party in Las Vegas.

Speaker 4 (03:32):
Now that was a shd to me. Seriously, that was Rob.
That was amazing.

Speaker 5 (03:39):
Uh, Seriously, I've been to a few birthday parties over
the years, but nothing quite like that. And I don't
know anyone that had their own haul in Vegas and
one of the major casinos there, and that was a
who's who.

Speaker 1 (03:51):
It was something. It was a lot of fun. All right,
Let's welcome into the Odd Couple crew, Ben, because we
wouldn't be able to do this fine little radio program
without him, and and one of my former students from USC,
who's uh is producing. It's the first time you're producing here, right, Ian,
the first time I'm doing Odd Couple. Yes, first time
doing that show. Yeah, there you go.

Speaker 5 (04:12):
So, yeah, we broke him in over now. Ian's good
to go, no doubt about it.

Speaker 1 (04:16):
I'm sure Ian. You know Ian, I wasn't a terrible
professor at USC, right, just just say it. No, not terrible, terrible.
There you go.

Speaker 4 (04:25):
That was the who was the worst professors?

Speaker 1 (04:28):
Come on, I'm not going to do that. Engineer is
Mark Marky Mark is back for back to back nights.
Mark did to see you, And Brian Fenley is here
as well, off of his honeymoon to Hawaii and all
the other good stuff that happened, and I got to
celebrate in his wedding. Ben, we were down there in

(04:49):
San Diego or was that Tijuana? I'm not so. We
were so far down I'm not sure where we were.

Speaker 5 (04:54):
But I thought he I thought he left the coming.
I didn't realize he was still here. I had no
idea he was still here. Yes, we were communicating. We
spent was it two hours? I believe in traffic, yes,
to get there.

Speaker 1 (05:06):
But we made it. We made it and it was great.
All right. Uh, let's go Brian Flores. Uh he respond
to Tua yesterday, Ben I basically said that I thought
Tua got the bag. He's the franchise quarterback. Why why
even go that route? You know what I mean? He won,
Brian Flores got fired. He's the franchise quarterback.

Speaker 2 (05:28):
He was wrong.

Speaker 1 (05:28):
Okay, you know, and whatever you want to say do
that's fine personally, but publicly, I didn't think there was
a place. But Brian Flores, who spoke Ben, said his
feelings were hurt. Let's take a listen.

Speaker 7 (05:42):
Yeah, you know, specific to uh, you know the comments
that were made by Tour. I just want to say, look,
I'm genuinely happy for the success that Too has had,
and I really wish him nothing but the best and
you know, player relationships are very important to me.

Speaker 5 (05:58):
Well, Robot, well, first, I love I disagree with you
a little bit because I thought it was great. We
so often are given, we are fed a constant buffet
of bullshoi, rob right, And it's good for guys like
me and you because we can kind of cut through
all the bs. And for Tua to come out and

(06:19):
break the decorum of the NFL to go after a guy.

Speaker 4 (06:24):
And we had heard rumors.

Speaker 5 (06:25):
I'm sure you heard the same thing when when he
was with when Flores was with the Dolphins, he was
not happy with Tua.

Speaker 1 (06:31):
They he didn't want them to draft him. And I
get it. Yeah, okay, I'm the first coach you didn't
want somebody drafted.

Speaker 5 (06:37):
But he never like went on the record and said it.
And so you know all these niceties that everyone uses. Well,
then Tua comes out and throws an absolute haymaker.

Speaker 1 (06:45):
Only problem, Ben is if you do that after you
win the Super Bowl, maybe I'm with you, dude, you
just got a contract. You don't have a playoff win.
What is the what is the stick in your chest out?
Because you got paid? You know what I mean? Like
that's the part that I don't understand. It's a time
and place if.

Speaker 4 (07:02):
You are why I did it, Rob, He got paid.
That's why he is the money now.

Speaker 5 (07:06):
But but he's not gonna win the super Bowl, so
you don't have to worry about it. If he's waiting
to win the super Bowl, he's gonna be an old man.

Speaker 1 (07:11):
Yeah. I guess you might be right about that. There's
there's nothing to wait right for.

Speaker 2 (07:15):
Yeah.

Speaker 5 (07:16):
But the thing that it's fascinating is that Tua is
also it's a confessional to me, is that he's admitting
he's like he cannot handle that hard line coaching style,
which you know, I'm I'm a little longer than you, Rob,
but I kind of grew up with that approach to coaching,
like they kind of yelled at you, the jewel sergeant approach.

(07:36):
And it's obviously like and there's a lot of the
players today can't handle that.

Speaker 1 (07:40):
And this is a participation trophy era, you know what
I mean. Everybody everybody gets patted on the buttons, handed
a trophy. Yeah.

Speaker 5 (07:47):
Well that's the thing I like too, is like admitting, hey,
I'm driving a mister softy truck here, like I can't handle.

Speaker 1 (07:52):
I can hear the music right now.

Speaker 4 (07:58):
I like the saucer man.

Speaker 5 (07:59):
I can't handle I can't handle you being a death
spot old school coach and Brian Flora's style would be.

Speaker 4 (08:07):
And I don't know the guy. I've just seen him
in interviews. He seems like he's from.

Speaker 5 (08:10):
That, the Belichickian old school straight shooter style and that
that's a tough sell. Rob it is a tough sell
today and to admit it though, he can't handle that,
and he just went for the juggular. He wants to
have everything rainbows and lollipops like he has right now
with this new coach.

Speaker 1 (08:27):
I just think there's a time and a place and
if it really it just it just to me didn't fit.
It just didn't uh to go that route. And sometimes
in life you just take the high road. People always
say to me, you know what, the one thing is,
I don't know who you dislike And you're like and

(08:47):
I'm like, yeah, you don't know, because I don't have
to wear it on my sleeve all the time. If
I'm not cool with you or if I'm not you
know what I mean, You're my cup of tea. I
don't I don't have you don't have to do that
all the time time, And I think people get the message.
They know whether or not you have a relationship. They
know if it if it came up in a conversation

(09:09):
about coaching or something, and you say, yeah, you know,
this coaching staff that I have now is way more
on tune on what I'm trying to do. And I
give them a lot of credit for the success having
sour grapes and divulging that the big bad wolf said
that you suck and all that. You know, I just

(09:29):
don't know what you get from that, Ben. What you
got from that is that he can't handle criticism. That's
what he exposed to most people. That he had to
cry his eyes out because Brian Flores said, boo to him,
I mean, is that what you want out? Well?

Speaker 4 (09:45):
I like it because we've got talk radio to do.

Speaker 1 (09:48):
No, I understand that it fills our void. I get that.

Speaker 5 (09:52):
I mean he's feeling we've got bills to pay. Rob
It's not easy these hot takes. They don't just create themselves.
Need we need some help so from time to time.
So from that perspective, but it's it's waited for us
to see how the hot dogs are made right. And Rob,
you as a sports writer for so many years being
in locker rooms, and I was in locker rooms a
long time too. You hear the public version, which they

(10:14):
tell us when we have microphones and paper quorders, and
then you hear the private version, and Tua, let us
see how they make the hot dogs and say, well,
this is how I really feel.

Speaker 1 (10:23):
Well, it scares me because now we see that rad
hare is in the hot dogs. I don't know if
the hot dogs taste is good anymore.

Speaker 4 (10:30):
Well, if you don't, you want to know what's in
the hot dogs?

Speaker 5 (10:32):
I mean, might you gotta go? Sure those kosher dogs.
I don't even know those are good either, though I
have no idea.

Speaker 1 (10:37):
Well, the kosher dogs at least Ben, you know they
have to answer to even higher authority, I mean more
than yeah.

Speaker 5 (10:43):
Well supposedly, but then you know. I'm a Costco hot
dog guy, Rob. I like the greatest deal out there.

Speaker 1 (10:49):
Oh that is what the drink and the hot dog
for a buck fifty? You can't be fifty.

Speaker 4 (10:53):
Same price since the nineteen eighties. That's the way to do.

Speaker 1 (10:56):
It, unbelievable. Only thing is the last time I had
a Costco hot dog. Think it had a tail on it,
so I wasn't Was it still barking Rock? When when
you put it, when you put.

Speaker 4 (11:06):
The mustard in the you put ketchup on hot dog?
Is it just a mustard? I do a little bit
of boke.

Speaker 5 (11:11):
People give me odd looks because I go mustard, ketchup mustard.
I'll go like back and people look at me weird
when I'm online there and they're like, you're not supposed
to right.

Speaker 2 (11:21):
I know.

Speaker 1 (11:22):
I love in New York. If you had the some
bread hot dogs from the you know, from the street, delicious, Uh,
the dirty water hot dogs are what we call in
New York, and spicy brown mustard and the red onion
sauce bend. Nothing better, I'm telling you.

Speaker 5 (11:41):
And then if you're if you're eating in New York
street hot dog, then you shouldn't complain about any hot
dog anywhere.

Speaker 2 (11:46):
Rock.

Speaker 5 (11:47):
Just embrace any hot dog from any location. If you're
eating a street dog in New York, they don't they
don't clean those stands.

Speaker 1 (11:55):
No, that's what I call them. Dirty water hot dog.

Speaker 2 (11:57):
No, I know.

Speaker 1 (11:58):
And the guys selling the dog, where does he wash
his hands? I'm just saying, I like.

Speaker 5 (12:03):
The pretzels, but those are like hanging off the side
of the cart, you know, so they're probably like running along.

Speaker 4 (12:08):
The street manhatt and you're like, oh, that's disgusting.

Speaker 1 (12:11):
It's terrible.

Speaker 5 (12:12):
Although Philadelphia, I gotta tell you, unpopular opinion for maybe
for you as a New Yorker, but the Philadelphia pretzel
better than the New York really. Wow, that's a hot take.

Speaker 1 (12:21):
Okay, that is a hot take, all right, and even
more hot take all right. So what do you make
of this feud here or back and forth? Brian Flores
just said, hey, I'm happy for him and just kind
of left it. I don't know what else he could say.
He didn't expose anything or go any further. He could
have made a feud and said two was the reason
I lost my job or you know what I mean.

(12:43):
Or he didn't play that well, didn't stay healthy, or
he couldn't comprehend.

Speaker 2 (12:47):
Uh.

Speaker 1 (12:47):
Do you remember when Kyler Murray and they put in
his contract that he had to watch film and all
that embarrassing the guy. Brian Flores could have said some
stuff to maybe, you know, say some add stuff about
to it despite the contract to make him look at it. Uh,
People look at him differently, and he just chose not
to do it. I think Brian Flores did the right thing.

Speaker 4 (13:09):
Well, he did take the high road.

Speaker 5 (13:10):
But he's also got a problem here because this is
going to be weaponized against him. He's still is suing
the NFL, and there's a there's litigations being blogged down.

Speaker 1 (13:19):
As you know. He's got a great case because Bill
Belichick told him there ain't no job in New York.
Are going to to be interviewed for it. They already
hired the guy. I think that that's the crux of
his case.

Speaker 5 (13:30):
But my point would be that this is going to
be used by the lawyers for the NFL. I like, see,
the Dolphins got rid of him, and you know too,
it didn't like him. He couldn't get along with his quarterback.
So this is going to be weaponized against him. So
he had to he had to, you know, kind of
thread a needle, Brian Flores, because you know this is
going to come back up if this court case continues on,
it's going to be used against him.

Speaker 1 (13:51):
And if anybody on that Jewelry or the judge doesn't
think that coaches try to motivate players by talking to him,
then they don't know anything about football. Because if that's
the case, yeah, every football coach would be in that
situation at some point.

Speaker 5 (14:06):
Well that's the NFL though, they're going to try to
get people. I would think if it goes to like
a jury trial where they put people on it don't
know football and say, well this person's you know, mean,
you know, you can't mean, he's a.

Speaker 1 (14:15):
Mean Oh my god, it's the worst thing in the world.

Speaker 3 (14:18):
It's horrible.

Speaker 1 (14:19):
How dare you?

Speaker 5 (14:19):
It's like, Hey, we've had some in radio rob I've
had some abrasive bosses over the years. Well we've been
I'm sure you have at different stations you worked at
and whatnot, and you know, you do your thing and

the trash talking Whose side are you on? And who
handled this better? Ben loves tour, I love Brian Flores,
And I just looked up and uh sodo and Judge
just at home runs? Is that right? My goodness?

Speaker 5 (18:26):
Gracious, well, that's they hit home runs every other day. Rob,
I'm believing that's what they do. They hit a lot
of home runs, no.

Speaker 1 (18:32):
Doubt, let's go that's just crazy. Let's go to Keith
in uh Washington, d C. You're on the eye couple
of Fox Sports Radio. What's up, Keith?

Speaker 9 (18:43):
Hey, guys, I'm glad this is a situation being put
the rest and I'm like, I'm taking rob position on
this and I'm glad Brian Flores just just put.

Speaker 3 (18:53):
It to bed.

Speaker 2 (18:53):
You know.

Speaker 9 (18:54):
Let's go to mister tour man. Stop being soft man.
That saying people got different coaches styles and it rubbed
people the wrong way. But man, just think about the
backup players like Dan o'lovski's and people that don't get
in and just got to deal with stuff.

Speaker 2 (19:11):
You deal with it.

Speaker 9 (19:12):
You got people out here in society, have jobs, the military,
they get talked down worse two and you're making millions. Man,
you're soft. You going Dan lebouton show down in Miami.
Miami soft. I don't think Miami known good about his
good cocaine.

Speaker 6 (19:28):
Man, you ain't winning weather there you go, Yes, they
saw they're soft, all right, lebron they got championship. Nobody
don't take Miami serious.

Speaker 1 (19:39):
I appreciate the call.

Speaker 5 (19:40):
It sounds like a connoisseur of the of the cocaine. Rob,
He's he's tested it in different places. But here's the
other I believe in the multiverse, Rob Parker. So in
the multiverse, there is a dimension where Brian Flores had
come out. And by the way, the guy's like, he's
taking your side, the guy from DC. But I said
he to it looks like, uh, mister softy, you did
said you did say that.

Speaker 1 (20:01):
But you like that he that he's that he said.

Speaker 5 (20:03):
What I did because I like getting the real story here.
But Brian Flores, what he said was diplomatic, but it
wasn't the truth.

Speaker 4 (20:11):
I bet you're behind closed.

Speaker 5 (20:12):
Doors, right, you know, if you you could get some truth.
Sermont to Brian Flores, he would say to us, he's.

Speaker 4 (20:20):
Weak, he's not mentally tough.

Speaker 5 (20:23):
And I was trying to make him better, right, I
was trying, I don't dump this guy off. And this
guy and and he could also he could have come
out Rob and said, hey, the reason too is playing
well now is because I had to be a schmuck
with him and I had to give him a hard
time and now he's better for it.

Speaker 4 (20:40):
And you know, instead of him ripping me, he should
thank me.

Speaker 1 (20:43):
There you go. That could have that could have been,
That could have been the route. There's no doubt about it.
Charles and Maryland. You're on the odd couple of Fox
Sports Radio. What's up, Charles?

Speaker 6 (20:52):
What's up?

Speaker 10 (20:53):
Man? I'm glad I'm following my man Keith from DC
because I totally disagree with him.

Speaker 1 (20:56):
Okay, I'm old school.

Speaker 10 (20:58):
They get difference when your kid come home, when you
slank him, they put him in in the damn face.
There was a rookie, this is your first round rookie player,
and you tell him he's trash, he's no good. Nah.
That ain't how you That ain't how you motivate somebody.
It's not your rookie first of your first round, graphic,
rest of your quarterback, of your future crying why forward?
Its crying to the NFL.

Speaker 1 (21:19):
Naw Charles, Charles, I hear Charles. I hear you as
far as whether you agree or not in the coaching
style or how things have changed. But the question is
really like making it public? Do you know what I'm saying?
Like like that? That's what's that issue. Anybody can talk

(21:40):
about coaching styles. A lot of people you know Tom
Is or Michigan State. You know the way he yells
a kid, I'm just saying, you.

Speaker 10 (21:47):
Don't ra't rake them, and damn sure, don't take credit now.
But my man just say, hey, no, don't take credit.
Don't take credit with my success now, do not take credible.

Speaker 1 (21:56):
Well, maybe he made maybe he made him into a
tougher guy. Appreciate the call. What a Marty in Kentucky.
You're on the odd couple of Fox Sports Radio. You're
with Radio Royalty Ben Mallor.

Speaker 11 (22:08):
I've spoke to Ben Maller before. He may or may
not remember, and I mentioned your name.

Speaker 1 (22:17):
Do we lose Do we lose you?

Speaker 4 (22:19):
That was a dramatic pause. It was a Shakespearean pause.

Speaker 1 (22:21):
Oh there we go. We loved we lost you for
a minute. Okay, go ahead.

Speaker 11 (22:24):
Yeah, I call being show and he he was when
I called it being showed a few years ago. He
didn't know exactly had to like this guy. Sounds like
a real uh sport uh t one collar like DD's
talking sports.

Speaker 9 (22:39):
He he he.

Speaker 11 (22:41):
He was surprised that I wasn't a little bit weird,
you know.

Speaker 1 (22:44):
Mark, Marty, Marty is uh is one of the best.
He's been on a couple show from day one. You
understand Rob late at night. It's a different I didn't
fit in.

Speaker 9 (22:55):
Yeah, I didn't.

Speaker 12 (22:56):
It's a lot of alcohol uh talk, you know, debauchery
late at night and everyone and so while we get
a guy like Marty that calls up and he kind
of slips through the cracks and it's actually like a
good caller.

Speaker 5 (23:09):
I don't know how to handle it because I'm so
used to talking to my people.

Speaker 1 (23:13):
You know, the problem on your show is a lot
of the callers they have cinnabon stuck to the.

Speaker 3 (23:21):
Well.

Speaker 1 (23:21):
No, the great thing is I sugar infuse.

Speaker 5 (23:24):
I've told I've told Eddie and Cooper, the guys I
work with that. I'm like, No, I could just get
on here and I do these monologues at the top
of the ere every hour. I could, I could like
read random Wikipedia pages. It wouldn't matter because the people
that call up, they don't they don't respond to what
I'm saying. They just like they did their own thing.
They got their own act they're doing there. So it's
a whole different thing.

Speaker 1 (23:41):
Unbelievable. All Right, We'll get to some more calls and
people don't forget In the next hour trash talking Tuesday
of a chance to trash anyone anything in the world
of sports will give you thirty forty seconds and will
not NLT interrupt you. But coming up next, we're gonna
talk with Ephraim Salaam some more football stuff and I'm
sure he'll chime in on this Tay to tay with

(24:05):
Flores and Tua. But first let's get you caught up.
His name is Brian Finley. And Brian, you know what
I was talking about with those cinnabonds. You know that
with all the sugar or whatever, I've had a couple
of those stuff to my back.

Speaker 11 (24:20):
Well.

Speaker 13 (24:20):
Yeah, and usually when you think about the Mellar Militia
to have a full set of teeth, you don't usually
see that.

Speaker 1 (24:29):
No, they have summer teeth.

Speaker 13 (24:30):
No, and usually and what Ben didn't mention is that
those are all paid actors. Those are all paid.

Speaker 5 (24:36):
Yes, we have a big budget. People think doing overnights
we have no money. But yeah, that is a great point, Brian. Yes,
we all those people are fake. We we mimic the
Phil Henry Show, their voice actors and Phil Henry.

Speaker 4 (24:48):
Radio Show of the Hall of Famer.

Speaker 5 (24:49):
Yes, and they're all characters and yeah they're no, no, no,
real people could be that messed up they call the show.

Speaker 13 (24:55):
No, no, I mean, just ask Rob who Doc Mike is.

Speaker 5 (24:59):
Yeah, yeah, Doc called up for the first time in
a while.

Speaker 4 (25:02):
He recommended. He's moved on now to camel Urine.

Speaker 1 (25:04):
That's his news. Okay, okay, moving on to watch TM.

Speaker 13 (25:08):
Yes, so we'll have that. An hour number four of
the show. Cowboys owner Jerry Jones saying that his team
is making progress towards reaching a long term deal with
wide receiver CD Lam. Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers said, well,
he would, he would assume, trying to catch his breath,
that training camp is harder this year, he says, than
maybe the hardest in the last seven or eight years

(25:30):
of his career. Read into that what you will. The
Raiders that have taken and they have activated offensive line
min former UCLA Brew and Colton Miller off the physically
unable to perform list. World number one men's tennis player
Yannick Center is not going to be suspended after not
one but two positive steroid test results. This coming after
the Yes, International Tennis Integrity Agency, that is a agens

(25:55):
in agency.

Speaker 4 (25:55):
We have that in sports radio and integrity panel.

Speaker 13 (26:00):
Probably not, but I'm sure that they would be spending
a lot of time investigating your show.

Speaker 4 (26:05):
Anyway, I think your work would be more hot water.

Speaker 13 (26:09):
Yes, anyway, they're saying that this illegal goo unknowingly entered
his body through massages from his physiotherapist. And then lastly, guys,
Aaron Judge hits a home run, his forty fifth of
the year, and the Yankees have a two to nothing
lead against the Guardians. That's in the second inning, one
of the more notable games that happens to be going on.

(26:31):
Much more baseball at the top of the hour. But
to two guys, you talk about baseball's battery, you talk
about pitcher and catcher, two of the best when it
comes to sports radio. I got Rob Parker right there,
and that guy over there, his name's Ben Mallar, no doubt.

Speaker 1 (26:47):
Thank you, Brian family appreciate it. It is the odd couple
coming to you live from the Tirak dot com studios. Now,
let's welcome in. Eat from salam is normal slot right here,
but he has his theme music. Former NFL offensive lineman
and of course sports radio weekend host e from What's up?
Say how to the malor Ben ballor what's happened?

Speaker 2 (27:06):
Man going on doing great.

Speaker 1 (27:10):
We were just talking about Brian Flores's response to Tua.
I thought it was the right response. He didn't make
a big deal about it, just kind of wishes him
well and whatnot. Where are you on this with a
Tua first saying I had his feelings hurt and be
with Floren's Brian Flores's response.

Speaker 2 (27:34):
Well, look, we live in a day and age of
getting things off our chest, right, Like we live at
a time where if something happens you don't feel right
about something, there's enough platforms for you to get your
voice across, for you to tell your side of the story.

(27:56):
And the younger generation they're all for that. Like Rob,
you and I and Ben. We might have just internalized
that right seems before and not felt a certain you know,
warm and fuzziness about it, but you know, you move
on and and and and and uh, you know, you proceed.
The problem with that is, as therapy has taught me,

(28:21):
is speak your truth right, live in your moment, speak
your truth, let it go so it doesn't build up
inside it and cause other things to happen. So, you know,
in terms of Tua speaking his truth and and letting
the world know what was going on. I'm okay with
that in terms of uh, you know Brian Flores's reply,

(28:42):
he took the high road. Hey man, I wish him well,
you know you do you I'll do me. Hey, it
is what it is. So I look, I'm okay with
people living in their truth right like and if you
were under that type of behave, nobody wants to go
to work in hear how terrible you are every day

(29:05):
right when I'm on the radio with you, Rob and
callers are calling in saying how great I am. And
you know how I'm putting you in your place. You
don't want to hear that. You don't want to hear.

Speaker 9 (29:19):
That, So.

Speaker 2 (29:22):
I'm get it off your chest, move on. We'll talk
about it for one or two weeks, and then football
starts and no one even cares anymore.

Speaker 1 (29:31):
No doubt. Yeah.

Speaker 4 (29:32):
Well, even though, is there a place now?

Speaker 5 (29:34):
I mean, you've been removed for a number of years
from the NFL, but you still talk to all these guys.
Is this the way of the Dodo bird, that style
of coaching? Is there a place for what? Brian Floores
a tough love of Yeah, I.

Speaker 2 (29:47):
Mean no, no, that's over. That's over. It's the reason
why Bill Belichick doesn't have a job right now.

Speaker 1 (29:54):
They don't even want to practice anymore, are you from.

Speaker 6 (29:56):
You know that.

Speaker 2 (29:58):
Look, the days of you being able to do whatever
you want to do and and and talk to players
however you want to talk to them, those days are over.
Number one. The players are coming into the league with
more money than they've ever had before. They are they're
already making in some cases, millions of dollars before they

(30:18):
even get there. In some cases, these kids are coming
in and they're making more than their position coaches. So
this whole notion of you got to listen to me,
you need me, all of that, it's it's the playing
field has evened up a little bit. Now. You still
need great coaches, You still need respectful coaches. You still

(30:40):
need coaches that can get you to that next level.
But you can't just be disparaging. You can't come in
and and I use the term bully. You can't just
come in and and bully players. I've had coaches come
in and and and try to be just uh. We
had a coach Pete main Gary I think his name was.

(31:02):
He was after my third year in Atlanta. He came
in and was an offensive line coach, and I believe
he came from the New England area or whatever, so
he came in like he was. You guys are sucking.
We got what one good player here, that's Bob Whitfield.
Everybody else's is in the Land of Mids like all

(31:25):
of that. Yeah, he didn't last very long. He's talking
to a bunch of grown men. And you can't come
in with a why whatever you're dealing with at home,
don't bring that to us.

Speaker 1 (31:35):
Man, no doubt. Hey, let's let's go here. Where are
you on Josh Allen and the Buffalo Bills? What are expectations?

Speaker 2 (31:47):
You know?

Speaker 1 (31:47):
A lot of changes, you know, a lot of player movement,
lost a lot of people, and I know that they
finished the season strong before they of course missed the
field goal in the playoff game. What a shock or
that is? But other will still that team? Or are
they heading the other Way's.

Speaker 2 (32:05):
My honest opinion. As good as Josh Allen is and
has become to me, I think they're trending the other way.
Number One, you lose your best weapon in Stefon Diggs.
Number two, Josh Allen's ability to believe he can make

(32:27):
every throw and put the ball in harm's way. You're
not going to be able to continually clean up that mess. Now,
Bryan Day Ball with Josh Allen, we saw the Josh Allen.
We could see he's not there anymore. And when you
have a quarterback with the arm strength of Josh Allen

(32:49):
and who've had the success that Josh Allen has had,
it's hard to convince him to play, you know, responsible football.
And what we start to see is the mistakes become
bigger and bigger. You can't always get out of the

(33:12):
whole you dig for yourself. So for me personally, ball
security is the most important thing a quarterback could have.
And having Josh Allen, uh, you know, seemingly throw the
ball and put the ball in harms way as we've
seen the last couple of years in an abundance. To me,
that's a that's a bad trend and they will have
your team trending the other way as everyone else around

(33:35):
is getting better.

Speaker 1 (33:36):
Well.

Speaker 5 (33:37):
Ef another team that's got some attention because of a
move they made, the Chargers with Jim Harball. They have
looked terrible. I know they haven't had their starting quarterback,
but they looked terrible and Harball supposed to be trying
to change the culture. You keep hearing he wants to
go to a more of a ground and pound attack.

Speaker 1 (33:53):
With that quarterback.

Speaker 4 (33:54):
I know they playing a dome in LA, but they
is you know, good luck.

Speaker 5 (33:58):
How do you think this plays out for Jim Harbaugh
back in the NFL with the Chargers this year.

Speaker 2 (34:03):
Look, I trust Jim Harball. I like Jim Harball. When
Jim Harball has had a quarterback, he's been phenomenal. They
do have a quarterback. It's hard for a team to
look really good without the guy underneath the center.

Speaker 9 (34:19):
Uh.

Speaker 2 (34:19):
Just uh, Justin Herbert is the guy he came into
the league in my opinion, as the guy he just
had to it was. He was saddled with terrible coaching.
Uh for the better part well all of his career.
This will be the first time he has a real
coach who understands uh dynamic talent at the quarterback position.
We saw when he was in San Francisco. We saw

(34:40):
what he did at Michigan, And so for me, they're
trending up. The Chargers are trending up. Uh. They will
run the ball more, they will specialize in and running
the ball more, which in turn takes the pressure off
justin Herbert and and and that uh passing corps. But
they have a quarterback that can make every throw who's

(35:00):
not afraid of the big moments.

Speaker 1 (35:02):
All right. His name is I from Salam. Check him
out on the weekends here on Fox Sports Radio. We
appreciate your insight and your knowledge.

Speaker 2 (35:10):
My man, absolutely, brother.

Speaker 1 (35:12):
Thank you.

Speaker 5 (35:13):
By the way, Rob, he works with the lights off.
Sometimes I've come in there and I didn't even know
he was in the studio before. Man, the lights off,
I was like, Wow, I like the darkness.

Speaker 1 (35:22):
Too, but next level. That is next level, all right.
Coming up next, we got a little Shekel city for you,
mister Ben Maller, that is coming up here on the

Speaker 3 (37:00):
To Shekel City, the whole base for Rob Parker's day
dicks against the spread.

Speaker 1 (37:11):
All right, Uh, let's do this, Ben, Shekel City a
little baseball tonight. I'm gonna take Boston minus one and
a half runs. They're in Houston taking on the Astros,
and yes, somehow, somehow, the Astros will come back from
the dead. My god, here we go again.

Speaker 5 (37:27):
I can't kill him, cannot kill the cheating ass.

Speaker 1 (37:34):
No doubt, no doubt. But I got Boston minus one
and a half run. That's my best bet. I'm also
gonna take Oakland plus one and a half at home,
they're hosting the Tampa bay Rays. And here's a good game,
the Twins and the Padres. I'm gonna take this, man,
I'm gonna take the Twins.

Speaker 4 (37:54):
You're taking it where the plotters have been light in
the world.

Speaker 1 (37:57):
They can't win every night. So I'm gonna take the
Twins minus one and a half runs in San Diego
against the Padres. I got the A's plus one and
a half runs hosting the Tampa bay Rays. And Boston
on the road minus one and a half runs taking
on the Houston Astros. And remember this, Ben Maller, What's
I'm not telling you who to bet on. I'm telling

(38:19):
you who I bet on. All right, Ben, So people
are hitting you up. What we got, let's do it?

Speaker 5 (38:24):
Yeah, yeah, people, I get all kinds of messages here
from the.

Speaker 1 (38:28):
P Ones, the well you got the big you got
the big crowd following. I'm sure everybody's like all into
Ben Mallard.

Speaker 4 (38:36):
Yeah, well, Alf the alienl pineer.

Speaker 5 (38:38):
He's upset with Brian Finley taking shots at us, he says,
the members of the mallind militia there, so he's fighting back.

Speaker 4 (38:44):
Also, Mark the full name guy. He's in Oregon, he called.

Speaker 5 (38:47):
He's one of your callers to Rob, and he's upset
that I brought up the multiverse and he's he's whipping
me for that. He's very, very upset about that. I
also saw somebody I wanted to find. I thought you
you'd appreciate this. Alf's at me a story he was watching.

Speaker 1 (39:02):
Alf was a big deal on NBC for a few years, right.

Speaker 5 (39:05):
Yeah, and uh well still on radio, Alf said, he said,
speaking of a high road. Pedro Martinez was on TBS
pregame show tonight and ripped the two guys who didn't
vote for him for al MVP in nineteen ninety nine.
Now that wasn't wonder that wasn't you, Rob, You didn't
vote against Anna Martinez?

Speaker 1 (39:25):
Why he's talking about nineteen ninety nine and ripping the
two guys voting is just precious.

Speaker 3 (39:32):
I liked it.

Speaker 5 (39:33):
Twenty five years later though, he still got that in
his head, Pedro, If that's true, he still got that
in this I could see if.

Speaker 1 (39:39):
Like, if you were like had a chance to be
a unanimous MVP and somebody didn't vote for you, or
it was a mistake or something happened. Maybe, but an
MVP in nineteen ninety nine, Come on, that doesn't make sense.

Speaker 4 (39:51):
Yeah, Well, Howard Pedro's career of gone.

Speaker 5 (39:53):
If he had stayed with the Dodgers, you know, could
do the old old man radio back in the day there,
but they they traded him to the expos Who else?
Tiger Man in Utah. He hit me up on the
X machine at ben Mallor he said, my first time
ever listening to Rob Parker. Four minutes in, already a fan.
So he sent that out Rob four minutes in. Wow,

(40:14):
formed his opinion. He's a fan of yours after four minutes.
And that is true.

Speaker 4 (40:20):
That is true.

Speaker 5 (40:21):
They have done studies that people sum up other people
within about thirty seconds. Now you form an opinion within
thirty seconds whether you like someone or don't like him.

Speaker 1 (40:31):
Yeah, I don't I think that that's true. When you
meet somebody that's just to like a vibe or something,
and then once people open their mouths, you know, that
really seals the deal. But there is a vibe on people,
you know that, Ben, You've been in rooms or you
see somebody like, I don't think I like this dude
right here?

Speaker 4 (40:47):
Give me a bad energy. Yeah, there's an energy there.

Speaker 5 (40:50):
Yeah, but it's just like thirty seconds to two minutes
that we decide whether we like something.

Speaker 1 (40:54):
And he says he listened to the show and boom
there it is.

Speaker 6 (40:57):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (40:57):
Four minutes, that's all. That's all it needed. Four minutes.

Speaker 1 (41:00):
He's good to go. Man, love you. That's That's a
lot of people upset with Finley though.

Speaker 5 (41:04):
People ripping my guys, are ripping Big Greg and Iowa
ripping him for taking shots at the mallad militias.

Speaker 1 (41:09):
You know what I think. On one of those tweets,
his wife also is ripping him as well. You know,
the honeymoon just didn't live up to what she thought.

Speaker 4 (41:17):
Man, Yeah, he was in Hawaii. I had.

Speaker 5 (41:21):
He's doing golf videos on his honeymoon. He's like doing
play by play golf videos.

Speaker 1 (41:27):
A little lot. Yeah, I'm just saying.

Speaker 3 (41:29):
Right.

Speaker 1 (41:29):
You know, Tiger Woods cost me my marriage. You know
I was watching him when the Masters when I got married.
Instead of cementing our our union, that's what I should
have been doing. Instead, I was watching Tiger.

Speaker 4 (41:41):
Did you have a bed on Tiger? You had some
shekels on the on Tiger?

Speaker 1 (41:45):
Nah. It was just incredible to watch at that point.
As you know, all right, our number two of this
program's coming up, and Ben Maller says that Mike Tomlin,
either quarterback he picks, it's screwed. I want to hear
all about this. Come up next our number two, and
our number two is also your chance to trash anyone

(42:05):
anything in the world of sports. So don't forget trash
talking Tuesdays. Coming up. It is the odd couple Fox
Sports Radio, Stick and Stay America.
