Rob Rob getting ready to enjoy this MLB All Star Game.
I'm sure he enjoyed the home run derby. I haven't
looked Martin at my Instagram or at least some of
your phrase. I haven't seen Rob yet because I'm sure
we want to know he went, where everything, where he is,

(00:52):
what he has. Absolutely, yeah, we saw that. Uh uh yeah,
we saw all of the all the updates on that.
So we'll continue to do a War's Walda version for
Rob Parker. A lot to get into today. So as always,
we appreciate your listening. Eight seven seven ninety nine on Fox.
That is the number to use as you feel free
to call throughout the show. Also, you can check out

(01:14):
Martin Weiss on socials and kdub live for myself and
Odd couple fs are on the way. I from Salam
gonna join us here at the bottom of the hour,
about another twenty five twenty eight minutes or so. Talk
to him about some of the NFL stories out there
or whatever.

Speaker 4 (01:30):
He can always talk about everything.

Speaker 3 (01:32):
And then coming up next hour we'll have Adam Kaplan
in about an hour and a half, looking forward to
his thoughts on some NFL storylines as well. Some people
getting paid out there, Martin, some people mad they're not
getting paid, so of course conversations to be had as well.
So let's welcome in the Odd couple crew as always,
couldn't do the show without them. We got Rob g
producer extraordinaire. He's in the building feeling good. He's got

(01:54):
his up dosage of the week, Govi Manduro, Olympics, Olympics,
whatever he's on right now, and you know he's feeling
himself because he's got on James Dean shirts rolling up
cigarettes on the side of those things.

Speaker 5 (02:07):
It came like this, well, you know, I just you
were bragging about your app prowles today. Maybe you should
be getting an app that is more salad friendly.

Speaker 6 (02:18):
If they've giving out salad for free.

Speaker 5 (02:20):
Sure, I'm just saying I'm not even trying to put
anybody out there but you. So I'm not gonna put
the business you were eating.

Speaker 6 (02:24):
I had all McDonald's picey chicken sandwich.

Speaker 3 (02:26):
Well, here's the thing, Martin, you have mentioned. You know,
I don't know if you're still there, but you were
trying to lose something. You were eating right, doing the
right thing. Sure, he has the luxury of doing whatever
he wants now because he's just jabbing himself once a
week so he can do whatever. So unlike me, I'm
like you, we got to try to figure this thing out.
He's just jabbing, so he has that luxury there. So

(02:48):
and there's the problem.

Speaker 4 (02:49):
Was he's not like Barry Bonds where he had a
Hall of Fame career before. No, that's a lot of roderie.

Speaker 3 (02:56):
I do think you don't. I've said it to you
personally and over there. I don't think you really need
did the jab Like? I think you're fine, dude.

Speaker 6 (03:01):
But if we qualify for are we not gonna get it?

Speaker 7 (03:03):
Yeah?

Speaker 6 (03:03):
It's like painful price.

Speaker 3 (03:04):
For something that Yeah, because you are selling sob stories,
you know, and then I gotta do this, and then
I gotta do that, and how I just had a baby, and.

Speaker 6 (03:12):
Unlike y'all, I do run from the grind.

Speaker 3 (03:14):
That is exactly you know what. Acceptance is the first step,
that's what you know what? And he is definitely admit
And I appreciate the honesty. Alex on the boards over
there Monday with sons out, buns out, he's back now,
feeling good. I don't know you look at you? Yeah,
well wow, Yeah, putting in work. That's all we got
to say about that. Putting in work. And Steve the

(03:35):
Seger is on the up deck desk, gonna get us
set on what's trendy before we jump right in. Man,
you I'm just saying, you looked mighty tan and bronze.
You been out where you've been?

Speaker 4 (03:45):
I did. I was in Puerto Rico something, I was
Dominican Republic. I had a guess I was near it.
Oh close. We had a good time. Yeah that's yeah,
you should did. All right, let's move are.

Speaker 5 (03:57):
The best part about it was nobody has to apologize
to anybody.

Speaker 4 (04:00):
No one got arrested.

Speaker 5 (04:01):
Everybody came back ten fingers and toes and no one
made any super incredible life changing decisions where you came
back like.

Speaker 4 (04:09):
Why would do that?

Speaker 3 (04:11):
That was very like thirty three plus good type of
good people be backing crazy to it. If twenty three plus,
it's like that's more than expected. That's if how many
of y'all came went ten did not? Did ten of
y'all come back?

Speaker 4 (04:24):
Or nine?

Speaker 3 (04:24):
That's how it is with twenty three plus. All right,
a lot to get to. Let's jump this thing off.
I want to started off with Martin. Yesterday. We had
a conversation about the top ten quarterbacks. You know, they
had that list that they put out one hundred best
players in the NFL, and then then they go position
by position and they had the top ten at each position,
and of course they start with the We had the
quarterback conversation, So Mahomes is number one, which was to

(04:46):
let me say, ask you, at least to me, that
was to be expected.

Speaker 4 (04:49):
Maybe to you it wasn't.

Speaker 5 (04:50):
No, it's I mean, I know that he lost the
Super Bowl last year, but the King stays the King
for a little while longer than that, so.

Speaker 4 (04:58):
We were on the same page.

Speaker 3 (04:59):
That was my point, was he earned that rare Fight
era where when Tiger became less of Tiger, he was
still Tiger Wood, so you still took him over the field.
When Brady finally started getting older, maybe y Arn wasn't good,
you still said, no, I'm taking Tom Brady and Lebron
for the most part, up until maybe three four years ago,
you still say, nah, I still take.

Speaker 4 (05:16):
Lebron Serena Williams. Same thing.

Speaker 3 (05:18):
They earned that rare fight air where you say, now
until they're beating, I'm rolling with that guy. And Patrick Mahomes.
Isn't that the other guy who kind of was interesting
on that list because their top four or five you
kind of for at least you knew it was Burrow.
I'm not in any order right now, but Burrow was Allen,
and it was Lamar Jackson. And then the fifth was
interesting Jayden Daniels, because you're like, oh, okay, rookie year

(05:39):
was spectacular, but rookie, some of these other guys got
some longevity in the game. And at nine was where
it got interesting because it was that's where you found
the reigning Super Bowl champion quarterback Jalen Hurts at number nine.
And then of course you have Nick Sirianni come out
and I'm just gonna paraphrase f him basically say, Hey,
it's a joke that he's here at that that lowest,

(06:00):
the joke kind of how he's perceived in his league.
He's done enough, is a joke that people kind of
criticize what we ask of him for this team. They
use that against him. So when you have that polling,
you have that Nick Airianni is sticking up for his guy.
Where do you come out on Jalen Hurts as we
sit here, Uh, you know, a couple of months away
from this upcoming season.

Speaker 5 (06:21):
Well, I think it's the nuanced conversation. And that's why
I think Nick Gianni has no chance of being able
to do it. And I get you paraphrase what he
did say, because you can't say what he actually said
over the radio, you know, but you know the idea
that Nick Gianni would swear about that shock, that's Nick's
that's Nick being now that you've won, good.

Speaker 4 (06:40):
Luck, you know, that's gonna do. That's all we'll see
going forward.

Speaker 5 (06:43):
But the thing is like, if I'm doing an expansion
drag and I has a number one overall pick, I'm
picking a lot of players before I get to Jalen Hurts.
I'm picking a lot of quarterbacks before I get to
Jalen Hurts. However, that does not mean when Nick Sirianni
is saying in this moment is un true. What they
ask him to do, he executes at an incredibly high level.

(07:06):
I you know, and the Toush push, that's a real thing.
I can't stand it personally. I don't think it's football.
But I clearly am on the losing end of this battle.
And you know why, because the team that keeps running
it wins the super Bowl. And you know what, we'll
just have him doing it. You know, I just wait
for the worst pacingario and I'll just point to te level.

Speaker 4 (07:23):
I told you so.

Speaker 5 (07:24):
But until then, I have to entertain this conversation because
it is a web.

Speaker 4 (07:27):
It ain't going nowhere.

Speaker 5 (07:28):
It's not going anywhere despite all the votes to the
contrary or for a positive. So but if you just
evaluate just at the quote unquote playing of the quarterback position,
and it's not a knock to Jalen Hurts his ability
or you know, it's just there are guys that are
just flatly better than him at the things that I
think you ask a quarterback to do on a consistent basis. Now,

(07:49):
I think he makes up for some of those things
in like leadership and being steady.

Speaker 4 (07:53):
I think the fact that Nick Sirianni.

Speaker 5 (07:55):
Has so much success as a coach that kind of
goes off the hinges at times because Jalen Hurts is
this quarterback, right. I think that you went when you
got your wide receiver reading self help books and your
coach doing the doing fly eagles slides to the fans,
Somebody's got to be the adult in the room. And
I think Jalen Hurts does that and does the great
job for that organization.

Speaker 4 (08:16):
So ninth best to me.

Speaker 5 (08:18):
If I'm Nick Sirianni, I'm saying, look, you know what,
he was first best at the end of the year,
and that's where we're gonna go with that. Right, I
wouldn't be going in the dressed and all of this
because it's like who at some point you protest too
much because you know what we're saying is true. Go
back to them when he throws over there, Look at
Jalen hurts numbers. When he throws over thirty times, they
two and two. They don't win. You know what, I'm

(08:41):
saying they go back to last year when they scale
him back and they run the ball more, they win
more consistently, and that, you know, is it on knock
to Jalen Hurts. Whatever, If you want to call it
that or not, that's just what it is. But the
fact of the matter is two summers ago we were
talking about nobody wants to pay a running back that
next summer. Say Kwan Barkley went insane through the Eagles

(09:04):
offense at ward of a Super Bowl.

Speaker 4 (09:06):
And so if you're telling me that what is it?
You have the best everything, I mean, that's how you
would feel.

Speaker 3 (09:12):
I'm sure if you ask some best offensive line, best
defensive line, best running back, and in his mind best quarterback,
clearly he's gonna feel that way. But I get that
a couple So you mentioned a couple of things. Let
me break it down like this. I said this yesterday,
Jalen Hurts. If we're gonna be equal, then he does
deserve a bit more praise or less disrespect. Here's what

(09:33):
I mean. If you ask who's played the best quarterbacking,
who's been quarterbacking the best, who's been owning the position,
it has not been Patrick Mahomes. Patrick Mahomes has been
the best of a couple of things. Patrick Mahomes has
been the best at third down. He's had the best
QBR with that, and he also had the best when
it came percentage. Think it's fifty three percent completion percentage

(09:54):
on our first downs. On third down, he makes those passes.
So ultimately, what he's saying is when we need it done,
he gets it done. When we need a win, he
gets a win. And to the tune of despite what
Rob Parker will say fifteen and two, to the tune
of getting back to the super Bowl win, everyone want
to say, Man, something's off. They're not winning at a
hot clip or blowing people out. He doesn't look great.

(10:16):
He just gets to the super Bowl. So if we're
putting all of that on him as far as winning,
and that's why I believe he's still number one. You
believe it even though Lamar Jackson's played incredibly better football,
Josh Allen's played better football, Joe Burrows played better football
over the last couple of seasons. You just have that
faith in him. Then to me, we also have to
put it on Jalen Hurts as well. I've been critical

(10:36):
of him. He's not the guy necessarily you think you'd
want an a duel or a shootout. However, if what
we ultimately great quarterbacks by his wins, the brother gets
wins to the two of six and three in the playoffs.
You saw what he'd done in the super Bowls. Multiple
super Bowls he won, one lost, one outplayed Mahomes, and
the one he lost just outperformed him again in the

(10:57):
one that he won. And he's played very well twenty touchdowns,
three interceptions in the playoff runs for him. He continues
to be dynamic at running the football. The best short
yard is runner in football. Three seasons of ten touchdowns
and more is shut.

Speaker 5 (11:13):
I can't stand that you can say that and Nippy
a fact because of this touch push foolishness.

Speaker 4 (11:19):
But here's a student I feel. I feel terrible for
every running quarterback before you.

Speaker 3 (11:23):
Here's the thing. He's the one doing it. Everybody's got
a chance. Thirty one other teams. Only one other team
is semi proficient at it, in the Bills, and that
ended up costing them in the postseason trying to do
it a couple of times.

Speaker 4 (11:36):
So he does that.

Speaker 3 (11:37):
Well, you mentioned another thing leadership. When he puts on them,
Dad Khakis, you know what time it is. He's about business.
Even when they have disgrunt, you know, just runner receivers
or they' getting into it. Him and AJ Brown, they
find a worry way to work through it. He always
says the right thing. And that's a part of that position,
as you know, coming up there, despite what just happened
in the locker room, when I come out there answering questions,

(12:02):
boom ba boom, diffusing things, putting out fires. So we
do have to put more respect on his name now
when it comes down to rankings. Look, people are also
gonna look at talent. I believe if you just watched them,
you fail from ours. You knew football and you watch it,
you would say, oh that guy Jaydon Dan was more talented,
Joe Borrows more talented, Patrick Holmes, Lamar Jackson. And I
think that's where the issue comes with him. But if

(12:22):
it comes, if we're gonna say ultimately, Terry Bradshaw is
highly respected and he heralded because he has four Super
Bowl rings because all he did to do it was
win so much. He wasn't the best arm talent, He
wasn't the guy when you think of just passing, but
he won. He was perfect for that team, for the
Steelers of the seventies. So that's and that is what

(12:42):
Jayalen hurts. He's perfect for this team that wants to
beat you up, run the ball, stop the run, and
find ways to win games.

Speaker 4 (12:50):
He's perfect for this team.

Speaker 3 (12:51):
My last point, Martin, you look at a guy like
Tom Brady, Well, there's been iterations of him. He was
dinking dunk dincon dunk managed the game. Then he became
I can air this thing out when you need you
for years, and to me, Jalen hurts right now, maybe
he can start airing it out when he needs to,
But right now, this is what I am. This is
what I need to be, to the tune of way
more wins than the guys in the posty than y'all

(13:13):
keep putting ahead of me, except for Patrick Mahomes.

Speaker 5 (13:16):
But so also, but part of the reason why there's
way more wins in the postseason is because he doesn't
have to play Patrick Mahomes, nor Lamar Jackson nor Josh Allen.
Part of the reason why Patrick Mahomes is still number
one on this list is because even though they had
better regular seasons, Josh Allen, Lamar Jackson, Joe Burrow, you
name it. Every time they stepped into the kingdom, the

(13:38):
king came out on top and the King's king.

Speaker 4 (13:40):
Now here's the thing.

Speaker 5 (13:41):
I'm willing to walk to this, to walk to this,
Let's see if we can meet in the middle. Here
I have Mahomes still is the number one guy, but
I am opening up to the top four or five
to now it is now a the race is not
She is not such a prohibitive favorite that it is
like we are talking about him and everybody else. Like
when Lebron was at the top of his game, we
were talking about Lebron and the rest of the league.

(14:02):
When Jordan was at the top visit game, we were
talking about Jordan and the rest of the league. And
we saw guys get MVP of trophies. We saw guys
get you know, multiple MVP trophies, and while still acknowledging
the fact that Jordan or Lebron was the best player,
you know, year in year out.

Speaker 4 (14:17):
That's what this is to me, That's what this is.
What you don't think so you know what I'm saying.

Speaker 3 (14:21):
No, you're right, but I'm saying that's crazy that Mike
was sitting there, Mike and and we were like, you
know what, boy, that David Robinson, that Carl Malone that
and Mike's.

Speaker 5 (14:29):
In the like and you know what, and if Mahomes
runs off two of the next three Super Bowls and
it's you know, that's comparable with might sit back and look,
you know what, that was really dumb that conversation we
had on man July fifteenth.

Speaker 4 (14:40):
You're really looking for something to talk about. Huh.

Speaker 5 (14:43):
The thing I'll go to about the NFC guys that
are ahead of him, because all that's true for the AFC.
If you wanted to just have blanket the best four
quarterbacks in the AFC, make that statement, then I would.

Speaker 4 (14:55):
Be like, all right, cool, I get you. But I'll
tell you what the.

Speaker 5 (14:59):
Issue with the NFC quarterbacks because to me, the top
four unassailably are in the AFC. The issue with the
NFC quarterbacks and why they're ahead of Jalen Hurts.

Speaker 4 (15:07):
We'll do that next.

Speaker 3 (15:08):
We'll break that down. Also, don't forget we got it
from coming up a little bit. It is the odd
couple Martin for Rob kelvin Washington on a trash talking Tuesday,
Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 2 (15:17):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Odd Couple

(15:53):
Parker on the iHeartRadio app or wherever you get your podcast.

Speaker 3 (15:58):
I'm trying to follow you the j Ali Aleix. Well,
uh ah see. Now I'm sitting next to Martin. Martin
over here playing guitars. Now he know everything. They got
a guitar riff in it. I mean to be fair,
I've known this for twenty years. No, don't let my
joke ride okay out here.

Speaker 5 (16:15):
What I'm about to tell you, though, is these guys
just they they now go across the country playing TikTok concerts.
So like it's new to a lot of people that
first of all, that is the most the wildest thing
about TikTok and songs that were ten years fifteen, and
I could get like a seventies because that's all entirely
different time ago.

Speaker 3 (16:35):
But they'll just randomly put Miguel's sure Thing. They was
like what that long go?

Speaker 4 (16:38):
What is that?

Speaker 7 (16:39):
Now?

Speaker 3 (16:39):
All the kids like, yo, you heard this sure thing
like that? I was like knee deep and music radio
playing that. It's the odd couple. Kelvin Washington Martin Wis,
who was in for Rob. Rob's getting ready to enjoy
the MLB All Star Game happening here in just a
little bit. By the way, aky knees, stiff back joints
not cooperating. Some days, your body's just like nope on
those days. Luckily they're as the league with just one

(17:00):
pier of the league provides up to twelve hours of
paying release, so you can keep moving.

Speaker 4 (17:05):
Use as directed.

Speaker 3 (17:07):
Coming up here in about five minutes or so, ephrom Salam,
former NFL offensive lineman, Fox Sports radio weekend host, is
going to join us.

Speaker 4 (17:13):
We'll talk some football.

Speaker 3 (17:15):
Actually, we can even ask him a little bit of
what we're talking about here with him in just a bit.
And but Martin get back to you had a point
you were making about the NFC quarterbacks in comparison to
the number ninth rank quarterback in Jaln Hurts.

Speaker 5 (17:28):
So I'm looking at this last on this list is
just the first NFC quarterback on the list. Right as
I'm going down at double checking it's the first NFC
quarterback on the list is Jaden Daniels at five.

Speaker 4 (17:40):
Then you go.

Speaker 5 (17:41):
Stafford at six, Justin Herbert at seven, Jared Goff at eight,
and Jalen Hurts at nine, ten Baker Mayfield to round
it out. Now, the biggest quibble I would have here
is with Justin Herbert being above. But when you look
at those guys, the Stafford Herbert, and especially Stafford and Herbert,

(18:04):
I should say, and Daniels to a lower extent, but
Stafford Herbert for sure, those are the guys that when
when scouts and players, i mean other coaches talk about them,
they gush about their processing, their arm strength, they can
they're making every throw there, you know what I'm saying.

Speaker 4 (18:18):
It's about the way that they're playing, right.

Speaker 5 (18:20):
Jayden Daniels another one as a guy who's not quite
with the making every throw in the same way, but
dynamic weapon the way Cliff Kingsbury had him operating dual threat?

Speaker 4 (18:30):
Is he the best dual threat since Michaelvitt.

Speaker 5 (18:33):
Type, right, So you see that and then you watch
what Jalen Hurts is doing and like the touch push
is not sexy like although with in terms of football sexy,
those three got it, you know what I'm saying.

Speaker 4 (18:47):
So that's the thing it gets to me.

Speaker 5 (18:49):
And when Jared Goff, I would have if you want
it to have Jalen Hurts above Jared Goff, I wouldn't
agree with you, but I'm not gonna have the biggest
argument with you. So I think when you go through
the first the AFC joints, you know, when you go
through the AFC parts of it, I see these are
the best quarterbacks in the game. And you're now to
me juggling who's the top one out of Lamar, Josh

(19:14):
and Patrick yep. And then I think Joe is right
there if you really want to hold him for the
how bad the defense and all that play last year.
But I think Joe Burrow was a top shoven quarterback
just off of if I wanted to drip.

Speaker 4 (19:26):
I was starting at too far down there.

Speaker 5 (19:27):
Yeah, no, I'm just saying, if I'm just being as
lowest I could possibly go lost, I would go with
Jalen Hurts. It's probably right around ten. So I think
this is about right. I think it would any more
than anything. It goes down to a game. What Sirianni
was saying is how he's talked about the respect of
his name. But the challenge is, again, you have a
quarterback renaissance right now where you have they're in the area.

(19:49):
It was kind of Peyton Manning, Tom Brady, the rest
of y'all, And there was a good rest of y'all.
You've got to be Philip Rivers, whether it been obviously
Aaron Rodgers kind of peeks in there at some point.
But then you have Ben Roethlisberger saw him, the really
nice Drew Brees. You have some really good guys.

Speaker 3 (20:03):
But this young crop again, as you mentioned, when you
just look at the arm talent, you're like, but Justin
Herbert is gonna have to start showing me something. He's
had a bit more regular season success than the person
on the name, but the way people gush about him,
as you mentioned, Trevor Lawrence. Oh, you just don't understand
this arm is so big. He was made to be

(20:24):
a quarterback. Look out big six five. Oh and I
hear him and when he makes some throws, do we
all go, okay, what are your right handed?

Speaker 7 (20:31):
Damn?

Speaker 3 (20:31):
Marino kind of has that appeal to it. But that's
what you start to kind of go, all right now,
like I'm gonna start to need some of these wins
to add up, because what will happen Martin is will
be year eight, nine ten of him with a playoff
win or two, and you'll be like, all right now,
like Okay, I get it, but Jalen Hurts is doing

(20:51):
what you asked the quarterback position to do.

Speaker 5 (20:53):
To the point, I like, I think that Kyler Murray
is a more talented quarterback than Jalen Hurts would be.
He's standing on the table yelling the madness that is
this list if Kyler Murray was ready to bove g right.

Speaker 4 (21:06):
And so that's where it was like, that's why getting
to Herbert MN, I'm not quite there yet.

Speaker 5 (21:10):
Would you look at golf at this point, got some
playoff games on the wall. Jaydan Daniels with the playoff
man Golf have been in the Super Bowl. But yeah,
and you know who else.

Speaker 3 (21:20):
I think it's using this its fuel And if you know,
you and I are doing this next year, we'll start
to have a conversation again like does he need to
be seven, eight, nine, ten. I think Brock perty because
again based off of at the end of the day,
what's the expectation for a quarterback. I've been to a
couple of Super NFC Championship, I've done this, I've done that.

Speaker 4 (21:38):
I was an MVP candidate.

Speaker 3 (21:39):
And again, I think he can look at some of
these other guys and be like, all right, you know,
just a couple of them like what has he done
that I haven't What has Justin Herbert done that I
haven't done? I'm way past him dwarfing him when it
comes to playoff success. So I think there's a couple
of guys who are maybe on the outside brought Perty
be one like all right, okay and get his Denzel

(22:00):
vibe of you know, in training day, you know about
the Pelican Bay on y'all. So that to me and
that and that's the best part about these list is
you get conversation started. And then also if you're a
Brock party use at a fuel. We can ask the
same thing to eat from Salam. On the other side
of what's trending right.

Speaker 4 (22:26):
All right, Steve, thank you so much.

Speaker 3 (22:28):
Yeah, she uh, she got some work to do in
a three point shot.

Speaker 4 (22:31):
It ain't three pointing like it used to. Right now.

Speaker 3 (22:33):
It's the hot couple covin Washington, Martin Weiss on a
trash talking Tuesday about an hour fifteen minutes or so
away from that right now joining us cute that man
song e from Salam, former NFL Offensive Live and Fox
Sports Radio Weekend host e from Salam on X What
Up Eat?

Speaker 7 (22:50):
What's happening? Brothers? I y'all doing good?

Speaker 4 (22:52):
Man?

Speaker 3 (22:52):
You have a conversation about the top ten quarterbacks, and
more specifically this time around, we were talking about Jalen Hurtz.
He was ranking Nick Sirianni says, you know some blankety
blank I can't say on the air, but I'll paraphrase. Essentially,
he just thinks it's disrespectful how people regard Jalen Hurts
and how he's being penalized for doing what he's asked
to do with his team and ultimately it amounts to win.

(23:15):
I'll speak for myself real quick, and Martin can kind
of give his and then just get your thoughts. My
point is, Jalen Hurts while it isn't always necessarily esthetically pleased,
and while you know, if it was a dual shootout
with a passing quarterback, you maybe don't pick him, you know,
one of the top guys. But if the ultimate judgment
of a quarterback is winning, and that's how we're doing
Patrick Mahomes, who has not been the greatest over the

(23:36):
last couple of years, but we still have him number
one because of that, Jalen Hurt should have something to
say in that regard as well, and I do believe that.

Speaker 4 (23:43):
Yeah.

Speaker 5 (23:44):
My point was basically, when you look at the other
quarterbacks ahead of him, with the exception of Herbert, I
think you've seen enough postseason success and there's little projection
in there the Jayden Daniels. But the thing that I
think that Jalen Hurts brings to the Eagles that is
not quantified is the leadership, the durability, like the I
can't imagine the touch. Push is fun, but it's a

(24:05):
real weapon, and then it's undeniable at this point, to
the point the competition committee is weighing in on it.
So I think that if you have him as ninth
that's fine. He's very also, very very important to what
the team does and they would not be winning in
the same way without him.

Speaker 7 (24:21):
Yeah, I don't have a problem with where he's located
at all. The one criticism we had about the Eagles,
and they had it about themselves or they weren't throwing
the ball down the village. This is the same team
that had a All Pro receiver reading the literature on
the on the bench because he was I mean underutilized.

(24:43):
So I mean that in itself tells you everything you
need to know about the actual guy who's passing him
the ball, because that's what we measure quarterbacks on. You know,
their ability to throw the ball down the field, their
ability to take over a game when you're down you know,
six him eight twelve points in the fourth quarter and
you can't run the ball anymore? Can you get them

(25:07):
back in the game. And I think all the quarterbacks
above him on that list have shown the propensity to
do that, but they won the Super Bowl. They had
sat Kwon Barkley. Say, Kawan Barkley had an historic year,
one of the greatest years any player at the running
back position has had since Eric Dickerson. So when we're

(25:28):
talking about where he's ranked and not ranked, he's not
a pure passer, so we shouldn't hold him to that standard.
He's a good quarterback. He's a winning quarterback, a Super
Bowl winning quarterback. But is he going to throw for
five thousand yards and fifty touchdowns and the season? Probably not.

Speaker 3 (25:48):
He Let me ask you about somebody else that we
just talked about, and I said, I see the talent.
I think he is a really good quarterback, but again,
ultimately might have to start seeing more success in him
making better decisions in the postseason.

Speaker 4 (26:00):
That's justin Herbert. We all know that raw Town is there.
He's really good.

Speaker 3 (26:04):
But at a certain point, all right now, I'm gonna
need to start seeing you accumulate some more wins. Where
do you where do you put him? Because he was
what was he six on this list?

Speaker 7 (26:13):
Uh?

Speaker 3 (26:14):
And and again, when do we start requiring more from
him after the regular season?

Speaker 7 (26:20):
Well, I think now, I think his first four years
in the league, he was hamstrung by an n F
coach who had no business being a head coach, and
the Chargers time and time again kept trying to revisit
that well, and we all knew, I mean, it became
a thing. It became an adjective, can you charger this?
This win away?

Speaker 8 (26:40):
Right?

Speaker 7 (26:42):
So like it became comical. But yet he's still throwing.
You know, you got to remember, he's thrown for more
yards than anybody at this point in their career ever,
so that in itself lets you know that he's a gunslinger.
He has an armed and if he would have had
the level of confidence at the head coaching position as

(27:05):
some of the other great quarterbacks early in their career,
we wouldn't even be having this conversation. But now he's
you know, he's got hardball. They went to the playoffs
last year. Now he's going to be measured. Hey, there
is no excuse, there is no reason. Now what are
you going to bring to the table and can you
take that next step? Can you win playoff games? Can
you get to the conference championship and possibly to the

(27:28):
Super Bowl?

Speaker 5 (27:30):
Ephrom Martin Wiser e Fan salam here on Fox Sports Radio,
joining us on the odd couple.

Speaker 4 (27:35):
Patrick Mahomes just.

Speaker 5 (27:36):
Got well, he's not a new right guard, I should say,
let me rephrase this. Tray Smith just got a brand
new contract seventy million dollars guaranteed ninety four over four
million and over four years. And it's now the highest
page center guard combo in the NFL with cheap with
Creed Humphrey Juwan Taylor to right tackle makes twenty million
dollars a year. He's got gets a ton of penalties,

(27:58):
and they've kind of a you know, the drafted the
offensive tackle with their first round pick, but we saw
the Super Bowl protection was rough for them.

Speaker 4 (28:08):
This trad Smith gave up two playoff sacks.

Speaker 5 (28:10):
Kansas City has invested on seems to me a lot
of the same guys that were there already.

Speaker 4 (28:14):
What's your thought?

Speaker 7 (28:15):
I mean, Trady Smith is one of the top guards
in the league. The one thing you can't do is
measure an offensive lineman's worst on a game A play
are a few. You have to look at the totality
of his work, and Trey Smith is one. I knew
he was going to reset the guard market when he
was up. That's why they franchised him because it was
gonna take a little bit more time, a little bit

(28:36):
more nuanced to get his deal done. But he remember,
this kid is the seventh of the sixth round draft pick,
right who's fought his way and called his way to
being a key member of you know, three super bowls
with with the with the Chiefs, two wins, and so
he deserves every cent. They understand that Patrick Mahome goes

(28:59):
as the offensive line goes. He was under siege in
that Super Bowl against a vaunted defensive front from the
Philadelphia Eagles. So they're going to do the only two
times Patrick Mahomes has lost the Super Bowls, the line
hasn't been up to par. That's the only times. And
so I don't care what receiver tight end. The only

(29:21):
way to get Patrick Mahomes off the field is to
make him feel uncomfortable and not have an offensive line.
They've invested in that, and you know, I'm happy for
Tray's like a little brother than me. Spend a lot
of time talking and talking to him during the season
as well as other young guys. But you gotta pay

(29:41):
those guys up front. The world and the war is
one up front with offensive defensive linemen.

Speaker 4 (29:48):
And we saw that.

Speaker 3 (29:49):
I mean, the Eagles are the case study for that
on both sides of the ball.

Speaker 4 (29:54):
I got one more for the mote. Yeah, I got
one more.

Speaker 3 (29:55):
From me, because just because you played in the NFL
all those years doesn't mean you don't know other stuff.

Speaker 4 (30:01):
You are a hooper at heart too. Let't talk NBA
with you, Ah yeah, I.

Speaker 7 (30:06):
Would prefer NBA football, easy man.

Speaker 3 (30:09):
Let's do NBA. So let me throw this at you.
You're also a Laker fan Lebron right now currently. We
saw him at a summer league. He wapped up rob Lincoln.
So I don't know what that means because we know
this seems that have some reports are some disconnect between
and the Lakers. You got Scoop be Brandon Jackson, he
was on with us. Robinson, he was on with us yesterday.

(30:29):
He said, you know, he got the four lists of
teams that have made some calls to the Lakers about
Lebron if he were to move. You got the Calves,
the MAVs, the Warriors, and the Clippers. Those are the
four he reported. What do you make of where Lebron
is right now with the Lakers, and if he were
to dip, where's the best fit bars.

Speaker 7 (30:48):
Well, I mean, you know, as long as Lebron's gonna
be a Laker, he brings value to the team. If
he decides that he wants to go, I believe he
has no trade claws, so he has to pick and
this and decide where he wants to go. I think
only two players in the league, him and Bradley Beal
have no trade clauses, So it's essentially where does Lebron
want to go. If that's the case, then it would

(31:09):
probably the Dallas Mavericks getting back with Kyrie and a
d I think two players that that you know, Lebron
enjoyed playing with that one championship was with. But I
don't see how they can pull that off. They're not
gonna give up Cooper Flag or anything other. You know,
they couldn't give us anything back work of Lebron James

(31:30):
to help really put them over over the hump in
terms of being a playoff and a championship team. So
as of right now, those other going back to Cleveland
now unless Broni's part of the package. I really don't
think Lebron James wants to leave playing with his son.
I think he got a kick out of it last year.
I think he understands how much his son is learning

(31:53):
from him being on the team with him. And as
long as that's possible, I think it's going to go.
Anywhere he's traded to. Bronnie has to be part of
that package. And now we start talking about too many
moving pieces. So we'll see though anything possible.

Speaker 3 (32:08):
Anything is possible, and they talk about moving pieces at
some point. I think he does want to play with
Bryce too, after he gets his one year in college.

Speaker 4 (32:14):
So that's a whole nother story a time.

Speaker 7 (32:16):
Bryce might need more than one year, but Bronnie did.
Who knows, Man, I don't know if no bront will
have the cache again to pull off a Bronnie James
move again, though I don't know.

Speaker 4 (32:27):
There's always the fifty fifth pick.

Speaker 3 (32:29):
We'll see the Fox Sports all right, from the Fox
Sports studios.

Speaker 4 (32:32):
Thank you. He appreciate it.

Speaker 3 (32:34):
Man, as always, absolutely all right. On the way, no
doubt appreciate you, brother.

Speaker 4 (32:38):
On the way.

Speaker 3 (32:39):
We have our tie rack play other day, plus w
NBA players showed how they feel about particular somebody and
Martin and I, well, we actually don't disagree.

Speaker 4 (32:49):

Speaker 3 (33:07):
It is the couple kelvin Washington, my man Martin Weiss
in the building. And for Rob down there in Atlanta. Okay,
that's a different look. What's the name again on the
singer right now? The country singer again? Turn your Michael.
What's his name again?

Speaker 4 (33:22):
Uh? Not spoozy? What's the name of.

Speaker 2 (33:26):
Brown?

Speaker 6 (33:27):
Y'all are uncultured?

Speaker 4 (33:28):
Man? I got it before you said it, so all
the one.

Speaker 6 (33:30):
He was talking to Alex excuses Cane.

Speaker 4 (33:33):
Brown's got a unique look going on right now.

Speaker 3 (33:35):
First of all, tucking the jersey into the jeans has
become the new thing.

Speaker 4 (33:39):
And I don't know that Reggie Miller meant to make.

Speaker 3 (33:42):
It a thing during the Pacers uh and the during
the finals when Reggie Miller was sitting there in front
seat and he kept having his pacer jersey tucked into
a jeans.

Speaker 4 (33:50):
But yeah, this is an interesting little Bruben in the
gym though, he yet, the.

Speaker 5 (33:54):
Gym that's your thing, if you're gonna wear it cut off.
I mean, I can't deny that one. You know, it's
the bicep there.

Speaker 3 (33:59):
But did you tuck in to Jerry bro That's just
too Hey, Rob g Alex, I'm just saying, remember this moment.

Speaker 4 (34:05):
Take it in. Look at him soaking in remember it.
Remember it. Martin Weiss has a Halloween costume into making.

Speaker 6 (34:11):
I can see it.

Speaker 4 (34:12):
I don't have a biceps for that one. But that's
a problem you got till October.

Speaker 6 (34:15):
I thought you don't run from the grind. Marty made
a big point about that to open the show.

Speaker 4 (34:19):
Can also sign up for grinds that I'm not be
able to get to.

Speaker 3 (34:22):
Nobody said you had to have the guns.

Speaker 4 (34:25):
We just had.

Speaker 3 (34:25):
You had to resemble them so we would go, oh,
I see what you did there. Because people always want
to come up with the most unique you know, Superman
and Iron Man and all that's done. Now people want
to find the most obscure Halloween costumes. Now, Kane Brown
from the All Star Game, actually All Star Game, I
already know it's going to be a Halloween costume. I'm
big in the Halloween. So do you spoil it now

(34:47):
until now? Of course not, But I just want you
to know that on July fifteenth you already know. Yeah,
like there's a massive leader in the clubhouse. That would
have to be an incredible shake up to change.

Speaker 4 (34:56):
What were you last year? The Grinch? Okay? How how
in depth?

Speaker 3 (35:02):
Show me a picture at some point you to show
me now, but like you know what I mean, there's
like old store on something I got at the No,
the the was only there for a few months, or
like makeup, Well I had the mask.

Speaker 4 (35:12):
I did that makeup. But I've been known to I'll
go all out, you go all out robbed you all
in on that too. Nah, No, I'm not. I didn't.

Speaker 3 (35:19):
I just didn't grow up that way. Not that I
wouldn't be if I. I just moms wasn't having that
after a certain time.

Speaker 6 (35:24):
And my Halloween budget kind of reserved for a five
year old right now?

Speaker 4 (35:27):
Oh yeah, I got it a lot.

Speaker 6 (35:29):
Yeah, so like just like three costs and you know
alpha change is so na.

Speaker 4 (35:33):
Let you that would you go a store or something?
Would you do? I didn't dress up? Actually? Well oh
all right? That are used to come on? You know
how that.

Speaker 3 (35:42):
Yeah, the biginess of putting clothes on if you know
a point. And with that being said, let's get to
the tire Rack player of the day.

Speaker 9 (35:48):
Low my drive to left, Let's skip to the wall.
It is over and cal Rollicks is your twenty twenty
five t mobile home run derby champion, the Major League
home run leader and Rawley who just squeaked.

Speaker 3 (36:04):
It all right, Congrats to the Big Dumper MLB Network
Radio right there. That's a crazy name. It's not gonna
lie yep, Big Dumper is kind of crazy. That is
your tire Rack play of the day. And for over
forty years, tire Rack has been helping customers find the
right tires for how, what and where they drive shit
fast and free back by free Wild has their protection
with convenient insulation options like Mobile Tire Insallation, tirack dot Com.

Speaker 4 (36:27):
It is the way tire buying should be real quick.

Speaker 3 (36:30):
I think basically the the WNBA players there was a
poll about who was the face of the league in
the next five years and I think it was what
was it fifty six percent had Caitlin Clark. But it
wasn't overwhelming, you know, it wasn't eighty ninety percent and
for me fifty three percent.

Speaker 4 (36:49):
I'm not mad at that.

Speaker 3 (36:50):
I mean, you're asking somebody to project five years is
crazy in a sport where anything can happen. Also in
a sport where, by the way, they already have people
who are better than her, and also people who could
project Page Beckers might meet better than her. Asia Wilson
we already know is better than her. You have, of
course on the way Juju, once she gets back and
the healthy and then comes into the WNBA could easily

(37:12):
be the face.

Speaker 4 (37:13):
Of the league.

Speaker 3 (37:13):
Or you're just in a situation mark when you have
multiple like there's not a clear cut similar to the
next couple of years, Steph Curry and Lebron are done.

Speaker 4 (37:22):
I don't know who the face of the NBA is.
I'd say, is it NB?

Speaker 7 (37:26):
Is it?

Speaker 4 (37:26):
Luca is it?

Speaker 5 (37:27):
And is a j point the face of the NBA
and the most popular player in the NBA not the
same thing, because if you said the most popular player
in the NBA under thirty two division, the answer is
LaMelo Ball by Instagram followers and social media handles and
all of that. Like the answer is LaMelo Ball. But
all that that, I will say, But I get your metrics,

(37:47):
I get the.

Speaker 4 (37:48):
You know what I'm saying, But it's like, that's like popularity.

Speaker 5 (37:51):
Just because you're the most popular player in the league
does not necessarily mean you are the face even the
you know what I mean, Anthony Ever's got a much
better shot because he'd be in the playoffs, he'd be
in the West Harvers Finals. Kayln Clark got to get
to one of those on their side of things, and
maybe I could happen and start making some threes. What
the heck, that's what you cannot be good at. What
I know you for right now, what I know you
for is shooting threes.

Speaker 3 (38:12):
And she's on the struggle bus obviously coming off injury,
shooting twenty six percent since the injury, twenty nine on
the season. I believe that's gonna go up at some point,
and she's a much better player than what she been showing.
But yeah, that's what I mean. That's not a crazy fifty.
That's still above at that's most that's the majority. It's
above fifty percent of the people. More people turned in
when Kayln Clark started playing. Fact, they're gonna watch everybody

(38:32):
else though. Eventually, know what I'm saying like or even
the teams they play against, they'll see the other players. Yeah,
and again, I have to keep I keep highlighting. When
Rob's here too, I highlight juju, like, don't sleep on
what juju brings as well. MLB All Star Game, we
gotta talk about it. Fox Sports Radio
