You know what, Robin, she.
Speaker 5 (02:38):
Not supposed to be like you know inside? Why are
you gonna pull the curtain bag?
Speaker 2 (02:43):
Robbie? I mean Rob Parker. We love you man either way,
We love you for all that you are. You know that?
Do you know that you were loved? Brother?
Speaker 5 (02:49):
Yes? I do, thank you.
Speaker 1 (02:51):
I appreciate you. He don't like the mush Rob G.
He gets uncomfortable with them looking uncomfortable. But it's all good. Yes,
let's welcome into the Odd Couple crew. We wouldn't be
able to do this farm radio program without him. Rob
G is our producer, Alex is our engineer, Monte Bolanos
is at the anchor desk.
Speaker 5 (03:10):
And yeah, never heard of them, Elijah never heard of.
Speaker 6 (03:17):
Social media, gurgle. He does a great job on social media.
So yes, he does.
Speaker 5 (03:24):
Uh so a lot to get to in the show.
Speaker 6 (03:26):
And I do want to get started, and let's start
off with Rob G.
Speaker 5 (03:32):
He's like, why do I have to set the table.
Speaker 6 (03:34):
Yea early, because that's what because that's what the producer
is supposed to do.
Speaker 1 (03:38):
And then he put the suppose like you don't be
doing it. I mean, look at me instigating.
Speaker 2 (03:45):
That's what a.
Speaker 6 (03:45):
Producer that Rob G gets more airtime than any other
show other than the shows where they're trying to fill
time by having a producer on. We actually need rob G.
We're not trying to fill times that make what show
are you talking? I'm just saying, is.
Speaker 2 (04:03):
This a trash talking Tuesday? What you want?
Speaker 5 (04:06):
What do you want me to do?
Speaker 2 (04:06):
I'm just just wondering.
Speaker 5 (04:08):
No, we we actually need rob rob G. Let's set
the tam That's right, guys.
Speaker 7 (04:13):
I don't know if you watched the FS one's Breakfast
Ball this morning, but if you.
Speaker 5 (04:16):
Did, I never missed. If you didn't see, you missed.
Speaker 7 (04:21):
A bombshell dropped by NBA Commissioner Adam Silver, who said
on the show that an effort to save the fledging
NBA All Star Game, you know, he had the TNT picks,
he had the elam ending, he had all those things.
Speaker 5 (04:36):
None of them worked. People hated the game. They said
it was terrible to watch.
Speaker 7 (04:40):
They even had the NBA PA come out and speak
to players to say, how can we get you to
play hard? Well, Adam Silver thinks he has just the thing,
and that is starting next season, the new All Star
Game format will be Team USA versus the World.
Speaker 6 (04:56):
Thank you, and this is a public service message for
Adam Silver. Hello, is this on Adam Silver? Do us
a favor. Don't try to fix the NBA All Star
Game and don't show up with this tired ole USA
(05:16):
versus the world that has been tried and done by
a million people. Adam Silver, you want to do something,
make the right call, do the right thing, and cancel
the NBA All Star Game. You heard me right, Cancel
(05:37):
the NBA All Star Game. It's a bore, it's outdated.
Nobody wants it. The players don't even want to play
in it. It's an embarrassment to your league. Stop fiddling.
You've been doing a tinkering with this. You know they say,
(05:58):
don't fix it.
Speaker 5 (06:00):
If it they ain't broke, it's broke and it can't
be fixed.
Speaker 6 (06:04):
Even the NFL, which still got ratings with the Pro Bowl,
realize it's antiquated. It's no good. Nobody wants to watch
it or participate. Guess what they did. They pulled the plug.
Adam Silver, pulled the plug. It's okay, things change, times change.
Speaker 2 (06:31):
It's all right.
Speaker 5 (06:34):
Nobody wants to play.
Speaker 6 (06:36):
The scores are over two hundred for an NBA game.
Everything is a three point shot or that's embarrassing. He
sent in two of the greatest players to go talk
to the players.
Speaker 5 (06:48):
A couple of.
Speaker 6 (06:48):
Years ago about playing hard Larry Bird and Doctor j
and what happened. They turned into absolutely awful perform mormans
after hearing those two legends talk to them and beg
them to play hard for the fans. These players don't
care about the All Star Game enough already, Adam Silver,
(07:13):
finally do something.
Speaker 5 (07:16):
You want to fix your legacy. Be the guy who
was a.
Speaker 6 (07:21):
Man enough to say, you know what, we gotta make
a change.
Speaker 5 (07:25):
And the change has.
Speaker 6 (07:27):
To be real, and a real change would be to
cancel the NBA All Star Game.
Speaker 2 (07:37):
I get your sentiment, will you?
Speaker 1 (07:40):
And I talked about this this past February. Is disappointing,
it's upsetting, it's confusing in the sense of, hey, guys,
for forty forty eight minutes of your life, can you
give it your all? And it shouldn't be difficult to sell,
especially considering how these are the fans, whether they're viewing,
whether they're in public, whether they're at the game, or
the sponsors, by the way, that allow you to have
(08:03):
these salaries and live the life that you live. But
it ain't going nowhere, and so if it ain't going nowhere,
I think this is the last. This is Custer's last
stand Rob. This is something I believe that maybe just
made me could work, And I'll tell you my theory
on why, because one of the things you have to
play for usually you have to have some reason, right,
(08:26):
And I know it should just simply be the fans, like, hey,
they're doing this for the fans, but it obviously hasn't been.
And I also believe these young guys. I don't think
they don't want to play. I don't think they know
how to. I think they have a zero or one hundred,
meaning they don't know how to give us seventy five percent.
I think they know it's either all in or we're
just we're letting it go and guys are.
Speaker 2 (08:44):
Dunking, we're shooting threes.
Speaker 1 (08:45):
I don't genuinely think they know how to do the
perfect balance, but I think this is it. They're hearing
that all the last six seven MVPs have been non
American born, and the world has the best players, y'all
is it's Luca SGA And I think this would be
the last hope in a sense that one thing we
(09:06):
call unite about.
Speaker 2 (09:08):
It wasn't COVID. It won't be when the Aliens invade.
Speaker 1 (09:13):
It won't be when the big huge rock is coming
to crush earth. The only time we all come together, black, white, Latino, gay, straight,
Christian Muslim is the Olympics.
Speaker 2 (09:25):
Boy. For two weeks, America comes together like never before.
If you failed from Mars, you would think we are
the most united country or on in the world. In
most countries, they come together for that.
Speaker 1 (09:36):
And if you can have a world versus usay, that
might be the thing that starts some little bit of
you know, tension, little friction, little one to prove that
we're the best. You heard Kevin durand Er the Olympics
talk about, Yeah, other countries are putting players in the league,
and yeah they got some MVPs, but we still have
the best talent of the best product, and I think
(09:56):
this would be it.
Speaker 2 (09:57):
Rob. I echo your frustration.
Speaker 1 (09:59):
I think all of us do, especially those of us
who have been watching for thirty forty years and seeing
how great it's been and knowing what you could expect
and getting excited about it and it hasn't been the same.
This is the last hope for me that maybe, just
maybe we could get that intensity back in the competitiveness back,
all right.
Speaker 5 (10:17):
Eight seven, seven ninety nine on Fox.
Speaker 6 (10:19):
We want to hear from as many people as possible,
and the question is really easy, should it be canceled
or will this format work?
Speaker 2 (10:30):
Where are You?
Speaker 6 (10:31):
Kelvin thinks they got the right formula, now do I
totally disagree. The players are uninterested, they don't care, and
it doesn't match up to the Olympics. The Olympics is
every four years. I don't believe that the players are
going to buy into this, but Kelvin thinks it's right
that format could work.
Speaker 5 (10:48):
I don't Where Are You eight seven seven ninety.
Speaker 6 (10:51):
Nine On Fox, It is The Odd Couple on a

feasta go to expresspros dot com. Rob and I talking
about Adam Silver Robson trying to save his legacy out
here in these streets, twitching up the NBA All Star
Weekend in the game again, World versus USA, Possibly is
what we may get next year.
Speaker 2 (11:56):
I'm saying this may be Custer's last Dan.
Speaker 1 (11:58):
Rob says, no way know how what say you eight
seven seven ninety nine on Fox?
Speaker 2 (12:02):
What we got?
Speaker 6 (12:03):
Let's start with Brandon and Riverside. You're on the odd
couple of Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 5 (12:07):
What's up beat?
Speaker 6 (12:08):
Knowing many know how you been all good, all.
Speaker 8 (12:14):
Good in the game.
Speaker 9 (12:15):
Man.
Speaker 8 (12:15):
You know it's just hard to get on here. Y'all
popular man. Man, But Uncle Rob, you gotta give it
a chance.
Speaker 10 (12:23):
We know the.
Speaker 8 (12:25):
All Star Game sucks.
Speaker 11 (12:26):
It does.
Speaker 8 (12:27):
I haven't watched the All Star Game in years, years
because it's been terrible. And you're right, everything you said
it's correct. You don't want to They don't care about it.
They don't play hard. Let's just see it just can
rub them, just open it up a little bit because
it is a Friday gay like he was saying on
Calvin Day for the world versus the USA. So maybe
(12:49):
they might play just a little bit hard.
Speaker 12 (12:51):
Even though that's bad and it's pathetic.
Speaker 5 (12:55):
Let's give it just it's not I've seen it.
Speaker 6 (13:00):
I've been going to All Star Game since nineteen eighty
seven or eighty A yes and all that, and it
is so bad it's unwatchable.
Speaker 1 (13:09):
But all right, Brett, I can't argue with you. That's
why I told you a listen. I can't argue with me.
And you sat there sad before it, sad during it,
it's sad out of the game. But I do think
this idea might do a little something something.
Speaker 6 (13:22):
Dion in Texas, you're on the odd couple of Fox
Sports Radio.
Speaker 5 (13:25):
What's up, Dion?
Speaker 9 (13:27):
Hey, guys, Calvin, it might doing it something something like
get canceled. Robier completely right. We've had this before. The
money gotten too big, guys, and they don't want to
even risk an injury. And Calvin, you said so, I'm
correctly that they don't know. They either got to play
it all the way or halfway. They don't know how
to do that.
Speaker 1 (13:47):
Yeah, I don't think they do, Dion, I really don't think.
I don't think they intentionally go into it. I think
they don't know how.
Speaker 2 (13:53):
I think they don't.
Speaker 6 (13:54):
They haven't mastered. That doesn't make any sense. They play
harder at UCLA in the summertime.
Speaker 5 (13:59):
Dude, it don't matter.
Speaker 9 (14:00):
You're right the NFL. I think you made the best
point when they had a counsel the Pro Bowl, right,
they canceled the Pro Bowl, So there you have it.
You can go ahead and get rid of the all
star games.
Speaker 1 (14:10):
They're getting rid of it, though, Guys, I hear you
and I feel you, but that corporate read I'm with you,
do money.
Speaker 2 (14:16):
They ain't giving up. The NFL gave up the Pro Bowl.
Speaker 5 (14:19):
I mean, are you kidding?
Speaker 2 (14:20):
But the Pro Bowl never?
Speaker 1 (14:21):
But the Pro Bowl isn't quite the same number one physically, right,
we all know, but it was.
Speaker 6 (14:26):
It was a thing though, for years, Are you kidding?
I mean it didn't just stopping but all Stars the
whole weekend. I just say, you got to give up
the weekend, stop the game. I didn't say, did I
say anything about it?
Speaker 1 (14:37):
Maybe maybe they can have you and Nancy Lieberman play again.
We could do that'll be the game. Matter of fact,
maybe they do that. You still got it in your Rob.
If they do two on two like sports shows, like
a tournament, you still got it in you.
Speaker 5 (14:47):
I played Nancy again.
Speaker 1 (14:49):
Because you know I can give us. I got a
good twenty I got a good twenty and eight.
Speaker 6 (14:55):
Sean and Sacramento. You're on the couple of Fox Sports Radio.
What's up showing?
Speaker 12 (15:00):
Yeah, I'll go from another mother cousin Kelvin and my brothers.
Speaker 8 (15:04):
I on the board.
Speaker 12 (15:05):
Man, Look, Rob Hope, are you doing good with your
pescatarian Jerney?
Speaker 8 (15:08):

Speaker 12 (15:10):
Just remember man?
Speaker 5 (15:11):
Oh yeah, are you kidding?
Speaker 2 (15:13):
Man?
Speaker 6 (15:13):
They know me at the fish counter now at the supermarket.
I'm there, Hey Sean, Hey Sean. We're still trying to
find out our name.
Speaker 2 (15:19):

Speaker 5 (15:20):

Speaker 2 (15:29):
Go meet me at the altar, looking self, Yeah, meet

Speaker 5 (15:34):
I did that already. I did that.
Speaker 12 (15:35):
Already there you go, man, real quick, sover Man.
Speaker 8 (15:38):
I think mister I like it, but I don't love it.
Speaker 12 (15:41):
Brought this up about a year ago.
Speaker 10 (15:43):
Rob christ Brussar brought this up.
Speaker 12 (15:44):
In the World against the USA. I think it would
be a great fix. But how do you save the
rest of the weekend the All Star The All Star Game,
wee get is complete trash. Nobody's watching that dunk contest
with a bunch of no name dudes from the G
League and random guys off the street to we're off YouTube.
The three point contest is a joke unless you got
Curry or one of the other bigger stars in there.
(16:05):
What it is is star power. Man, you want the
great I agree. So if you're gonna go World against
the USA, make it for all the events, give a
point total for every event, and then make the All
Star Game the biggest point total with the biggest cash
prizes across the board. Make it worth a while.
Speaker 2 (16:21):
Sure on, I think we're gonna get it, Edward Siding,
I think you're gonna get it. Like a Star.
Speaker 1 (16:27):
War two is Zion and Ann or joh somebody like
that is gonna be in the dunk contest to challenge.
Speaker 2 (16:32):
Uh, what's the name McK klung whatever.
Speaker 6 (16:34):
They bringing guys from this from the from the G
League to be in that.
Speaker 1 (16:40):
I'll tell you how we're gonna gonna make the basket
of basket of wings.
Speaker 2 (16:43):
He gonna be there. Thanks for the.
Speaker 6 (16:45):
Call, Alex In Fresno, you're in the couple of Fox
Sports Radio.
Speaker 5 (16:50):
What's up, Alex? Hey, guys, big fans, thank you, appreciate you.
The only way you fix.
Speaker 9 (16:55):
This is do what baseball did for a bit, and
the winner of the All Star Game the conference, you
guys get the home court advantage in the.
Speaker 2 (17:02):
That's too much, too much, alex Is.
Speaker 6 (17:08):
I was at that tie in Milwaukee the All Star
Game when they Bud Ceedley decided to do that.
Speaker 5 (17:13):
I didn't like it, and eventually they wind up getting
rid of it.
Speaker 2 (17:17):
That's too severe for Thanks for the call.
Speaker 5 (17:20):
And the support. Appreciate you.
Speaker 6 (17:22):
Drew in New Jersey, you're on the odd couple of
Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 5 (17:25):
What's up, Drew.
Speaker 11 (17:27):
I don't like taking away from legacy perspective, but I
got a way to make it. I think we gotta
open it up for the old heads versus w NBA
All Stars. I think it's time to let Bobon and
Jabelle eat, Drew.
Speaker 1 (17:38):
If you don't go back to work, Drew, Drew, you
know your boss is listening to you right now. Drew
is crazy, Drew, Drew, stop it right now. Don't don't
do don't do the All Star Game.
Speaker 5 (17:52):
That's fun. Maybe it'll be.
Speaker 6 (17:54):
It should be the Big Three against the NBA All Stars.
Speaker 5 (17:57):
How's that?
Speaker 2 (17:58):
Hey? He tried Big Three versus the US three on three.
He tried to get them into the battle.
Speaker 6 (18:04):
Thanks, Drew, appreciate it. How about Edward in Bakersfield, California.
You're on the odd couple of Fox Sports Radio. What's
up Edward?
Speaker 10 (18:13):
Hey, guys first on Cal's longtime listener.
Speaker 5 (18:16):
Thank you appreciate it.
Speaker 10 (18:18):
Thank you anytime you guys say so. I want to
propose this and have the NBA take a page from MLS.
What MLS does for the All Stars is they do
MS All Stars versus a really top tier club from Europe,
Ay Barcelona, maybe Inter Milan or Bayern Munich. This year
they're doing MLS All Stars versus the All Stars from Mexico,
(18:40):
and maybe the NBA could do MLS. I mean, MA
All Stars versus Bayern Munich or whoever wins the Twins
the Champions League in Europe, or maybe a European All
Star team.
Speaker 2 (18:49):
That'd be kind of cool, right, Nah, we would destroy them.
Give me the world. You gotta have the world because
you get the best from around the world. If it's
just one area, we would destroy them. But I get that.
I appreciate the sentiment.
Speaker 5 (19:01):
Yes, thanks Edvard, appreciate the call.
Speaker 2 (19:03):
Thank you. We would destroy it. And just one country,
one read, we would destroy him.
Speaker 1 (19:06):
So all right, appreciate the calls everybody, Thank you so
much for that. Right now, we got to get you
set on what's trending with mantels.
Speaker 3 (19:14):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Odd Couple
with Rob Parker and Kelvin Washington weekdays at seven pm
Eastern four pm Pacific on Fox Sports Radio and the
iHeartRadio app.
Speaker 1 (19:26):
There is Your Man's Joe d and the Pelicans. They
have some conversations about Zion. We were just talking about
him maybe entering the dunk contest. Uh, Rob, g give
us a little bit more insight on how they're deciding
that maybe they're gonna stick it out with me. It's
it's like a lady, I'm gonna ride it out with
my man. I'm a stick it out with my man.
Speaker 7 (19:43):
Oh yeah, you're doing it too, now, Okay, at least
you didn't say it's at the table. You did a
nicer way of asking me to do it. But it's
all good.
Speaker 5 (19:48):
What are you bothered with?
Speaker 2 (19:50):
Its wild?
Speaker 5 (19:51):
It's just crazy. Oh seriously, I'll say something. I'll say
something else, but you'll still read the story.
Speaker 2 (19:57):
That's one.
Speaker 5 (19:57):
Call him sit on the table. I'll just say I'll
just say something else.
Speaker 2 (20:00):
Rob G, you know what, Rob guess what. I don't
want you to read the story. Get out of here.
Speaker 1 (20:05):
I read I read stories every day four Live. You know,
I've a news anchor out here in these La streets.
Dag it, Kyle, do it?
Speaker 5 (20:12):
Because then I could say, Rob G, can you cut
the lawn?
Speaker 2 (20:16):
Or oh jeez? Why well right here went backwards, went.
Speaker 5 (20:22):
On track. Okay, So Joe Dumar's front of the show
actually has been on a couple of times. Write Joe.
Speaker 7 (20:27):
I think he may regret these comments here in a
couple of weeks because he spoke to The.
Speaker 5 (20:30):
Times picking you fresh off.
Speaker 7 (20:32):
Zion Williamson getting you know, sued for alleged sexual assault.
Speaker 5 (20:37):
Which is not something to laugh about.
Speaker 7 (20:39):
And the times picking you asked them, you know, in
the wake of these allegations and the wake of him
quite frankly, being unavailable for them on the floor since
he's been drafted. Is he still part of their future plans?
He's still the face of the franchise. Here's what Joe said, quote,
I've had really good conversation with Zion. We've had lunch, dinner,
watch playoff games together. We've done it all. I've had
(21:00):
some real honest conversation with him, some real direct and
honest conversations. We're gonna move forward with Zion. He's gonna
continue to be a focal point here as we go forward.
Speaker 6 (21:11):
I think, Joe, I understand you don't want to paint
yourself in the corner. Okay, seriously, you just got there.
You might not be able if you're telling people that
you're out on him, then where it's the value of him?
Speaker 5 (21:24):
Do you know what I'm saying? I totally get it.
Speaker 6 (21:29):
It doesn't mean he didn't say Zion's here as long
as I'm in charge and he ain't going nowhere. That's
not what he said. He says a focal point, he's
on the roster. He's got a contract, right, and I
think that makes sense. I'm saying if I was in
that situation, I would try to get him in the
best position, best health, Kelvin, best all that, so that
(21:55):
if the time came and I could make a move, right,
he's healthy, he's playing well.
Speaker 5 (22:01):
Whatever, then I would make a move like going.
Speaker 6 (22:04):
I would, But I do I totally get the conversation
in him, not like saying, well, I don't know about Zion,
I don't know, you know what I mean like that,
that's the wrong message is sent out to the atmosphere.
Speaker 2 (22:17):
I think he had no choice but to say he's
the focal point.
Speaker 1 (22:20):
What I mean by that is is twofold one, I
still got season tickets to be sold, and I'm sure
they're not doing great, but that we really are not
gonna do an thing, you know, talking about getting rid
of It's a business, right, It's a business. Also, because
I think there's a chance he realizes, and we talked
about this with Kevin Durant, I'm not going to get
the best return on that dollar anymore like I would
(22:40):
have two years ago.
Speaker 2 (22:41):
So therefore we might.
Speaker 1 (22:43):
Actually have to ride it out with him and I'd
rather be all in.
Speaker 5 (22:46):
With But if he gets healthy, and you know what
I'm saying, right, that's when.
Speaker 1 (22:50):
You try to right And that's why I'm saying, I
got to be all in with him so that he
believes in the system, he believes in me.
Speaker 2 (22:56):
I'm starting fresh with him. We got a new relationship.
Speaker 1 (22:59):
We get him in the best shap get him in
the best health, and that I have the option to
trade him, or we actually have something.
Speaker 2 (23:05):
We can say, all right, we're stuck with him. Let's
hope we get the best version of him.
Speaker 1 (23:09):
And if Joe Dumars does like he did in Detroit
is build around him and actually put a good team together,
then maybe we can have something. But he can't come
out talking about you know, we're gonna explore options, and
you can't do that because if you get stuck with
them because I can't get anything for him, now, you
make it even more awkward for your only real star
on that team. You know, he had no choice but
to really kind of ride this thing out, speak highly
(23:32):
of him, try to build some rapports so that you
either can build back the equity right, the trade equity,
the trade value, or you have a great rapport with
him if you have to stick with him for the
next year or two.
Speaker 6 (23:43):
And the other thing too, is in that quote he
talks about we had real conversations, you know what I mean,
Like I spent some time around him, talked about it.
So it wasn't trying to soft soak it as if
everything's great, you know what I mean, and there's nothing
to talk about.
Speaker 5 (23:57):
There's something to talk about. And you know, everybody know.
Speaker 6 (24:00):
I've known Joe for a long time when he was
a player, when he was a random Pistons and all
that stuff. And the one thing that I always liked
about Joe and his approach to being a general manager
or running a team, team president whatever you know exact
is the best part is that Joe's, oh his model,
(24:22):
and I think it's the perfect model. It's not about
being right, it's about getting it right, do you know
what I'm saying.
Speaker 5 (24:29):
And you know this because you're a business fan.
Speaker 6 (24:33):
He traded guys that he drafted, you know what I mean,
when he realized this isn't gonna work. When Rick Carlisle
came to Detroit as a coach, and Rick Carlole didn't
want ma team clees right, he knew, like I to
sit here, I can't force the coach to play a
guy that doesn't want to play, or have everybody sit
around and say, how come Mateen ain't playing, you know
(24:55):
what I mean?
Speaker 5 (24:56):
So what do he do?
Speaker 6 (24:57):
He moved him and he was a Wholetown hero, right
he had won a championship.
Speaker 5 (25:01):
The Pitchers draft.
Speaker 6 (25:02):
And was like eighth or n or something like that,
but you know what I mean, Like, and they needed
a point guard and they got Chuckie Atkins and when
the Ben Wallace deal, right and I think right away
Chucky Atkins was going to be the starting point guard.
Speaker 5 (25:16):
So right there.
Speaker 6 (25:18):
Yeah, but that but that was my point is that
Joe's mindset on being an executive is a smart one
because most guys when they draft and they make a
mistake Kelvin, they spend time that pride. They will do
whatever they can to prove that they weren't right instead
of just saying, dude, we missed on that one.
Speaker 1 (25:41):
I don't think we see that anymore than we do
in the NFL. I mean, they get hung up on
a quarterback and will ride that thing out just to say.
Speaker 2 (25:48):
No, no, no, no, no, he's good.
Speaker 5 (25:50):
He's good CCC.
Speaker 2 (25:51):
He just needed two years, three years, four years. We
got it right. We got it right, and you're starting
to see more.
Speaker 5 (25:55):
Teams say, uh, he ain't it.
Speaker 1 (25:59):
Let's move on, Trey Lance, we ain't gonna give you
three four years.
Speaker 2 (26:02):
We're gonna move on.
Speaker 1 (26:04):
And pride comes before the fall, and you get a
lot of general managers and owners who want to prove
that they will ride and make sure they're gurus and
scouts and draft gurus. But I do think a larger
conversation when it comes to Zion Rob another example of
why we need to pump the brakes and let it
play out.
Speaker 2 (26:23):
Every year or too.
Speaker 1 (26:25):
There's the new fill in the blank that's gonna be
the new Lebron, the new Kobe, the new Magic, and
we anoint them and they're Lonzo Ball quality player, but
due to injuries or just due to not necessarily you know,
getting it. Not that D'Angelo Russell, very talented player, one
time All Star, he ain't magic and Magic I on
need you keep coming down here. He's gonna break all
(26:46):
my records. He's gonna be better. Okay, and Zion he's
the next bit. Let's pump the brakes a little bit.
Every time somebody has a nice college career, or makes
a nice few plays, or has a great high school mixtape,
what we try to tell them they're gonna be is
a bit crazy and bit asenine.
Speaker 2 (27:03):
And now here we are a game with another.
Speaker 1 (27:04):
Talented player who and Lester Worsap Winnesday God himself changes
the trajectory of his career.
Speaker 2 (27:11):
We're gonna be like what could have been resigned.
Speaker 1 (27:13):
He might end up finishing two, three, more time All
Star and all the NBA, but we all thought he
was going to be more than he has been and
probably will be.
Speaker 2 (27:21):
And it's just another example of you just never know.
Speaker 6 (27:24):
No, I mean, I get it, but we live in
a not a wait and see world, so.
Speaker 5 (27:30):
I think people do crown people too quickly.
Speaker 6 (27:33):
To me, I've never done that, and I just think
it's ridiculous, especially when people haven't won anything. I think
that that's where my starting point is, you win something,
I could take a look at you, or you got
to be really exceptional. But we've seen plenty of people
crowned before they win anything. I mean that Ann Edwards
is a perfect example, like just people went overboard like
they did. And I think now I'm not saying that
(27:56):
he's not a really good player, but the talk was
even to be mentioned with Michael Jordan and we saw
the other thing. Uh, who's who's with the Cowboys and
Lawrence Taylor and Michael Parsons.
Speaker 5 (28:09):
You know what I mean?
Speaker 2 (28:10):
Like, is he not He's a great He's a heck
of a player, but he ain't LT.
Speaker 1 (28:15):
Lawrence Taylor could legitimately be the best football.
Speaker 5 (28:18):
Player to ever, not just I don't think that's a stretch.
Speaker 1 (28:21):
And let's just pump the brakes a little bit now.
I don't And listen, I understand the projection because we
all do that where we see but we do it
even before they get in the league. At least Micah
at least had two seasons through three seeds.
Speaker 5 (28:35):
I know what I'm just saying, Like I went.
Speaker 2 (28:38):
You jump into the to the best.
Speaker 6 (28:39):
But I'm just saying because people Taylor didn't just was
a great football player.
Speaker 5 (28:44):
Giants won two Super Bowls when lost.
Speaker 6 (28:46):
You know what I'm saying, like like there's a lot
there a lot of meat on that bone and people
just like right away, oh, Michaeh had fifteen sacks, he's
the best ever. You know what, I mean, all right,
guys sustained success. People sustain success. But I will go
back to Ann Edwards.
Speaker 1 (29:04):
I think what folks like and even I'll speak for
myself what I like about him. There was a period
where we felt like man, dude, like we said, there
were an all star conversation we had do they care?
Are they competitive? Is there that fired? Are they gonna
sit out? And I think what made everybody like ant
was he's very vocal, very honest, probably brutally honest, and
(29:27):
he also wanted to play. Man, don't say me on
I'm playing eighty two games. What may y'all crazy? I'm
playing and I'm competing. He's on both sides of the
ball defensively, and he talks smack to the elders, and
I think.
Speaker 2 (29:38):
He was a picture of that old school.
Speaker 1 (29:42):
So I don't think I'll speak for myself on this one,
crowning as if he's going to be that ext.
Speaker 2 (29:46):
Jordan fully talented.
Speaker 1 (29:48):
I think what it was was, here's a homage of
the old school of competitive talking. Smack wants to play
both sides of the ball, wants to play eighty two games,
And I think that's refreshing.
Speaker 2 (29:58):
As you know, a tall listen. I wish he was
light skinned with an afro or something or something, knowing
where he didn't look like him because the fact I
just started rewatching and shut up in advanced Roger.
Speaker 1 (30:13):
You know, I'm a sports documentary junkie. I started rewatching
last Dance for the like twentieth time, shut up and
old like young Michael Jordan, like eighties coming out of
North Carolina.
Speaker 2 (30:25):
It is uncanny how much they look like. It is.
Speaker 1 (30:30):
I'm just sitting there laughing to myself last night, Like, man,
he looks so much like him. Like so not only
are they high flying through the air, you know, maybe
an inch and a half two inches different height, but
just you know, in both shooting guards.
Speaker 2 (30:41):
But man, they look alike.
Speaker 1 (30:43):
And I dig that definitely hinders him a little bit
with that, all right, shehuckle city. On the other side,
we'll see how Let me look at get a glimpse
of your favor, rob look at me.
Speaker 2 (30:52):
Let me see how you know, Okay, I don't know.
Speaker 1 (30:54):
We'll see how he did. We'll do that in just
a bit. This the Odd Couple Robin Kevin on the

Speaker 5 (31:55):
I'll take that, okay, and there we go. Goodnight. And
I Seattle Barons.
Speaker 13 (32:01):
Plus one and a half runs taking on the Oils.
Also I have Texas Rangers plus one and a half
they're at Tampa Bay. And also Saint Louis minus one
and a half they're hosting the Kansas City Royals. So
here you go again, Saint Louis Cardinals minus one and
(32:22):
a half runs hosting the Royals, Rangers plus one and
a half in Tampa Bay, and Seattle plus one and
a half at home.
Speaker 5 (32:32):
Against the Ools. And remember Calvin, I'm not telling you
who the battle are.
Speaker 2 (32:37):
What's that?
Speaker 5 (32:38):
I'm telling you who I better? I was wrong. See
I've said it a number of times. I've said a
million times.
Speaker 2 (32:45):
You said it once and we just keep replaying. And
that's all I plus wrong And it's signed out for
your Times recording.
Speaker 5 (32:52):
That was me. Look watch my mouth.
Speaker 11 (32:55):
Wow.
Speaker 2 (32:55):
Okay, right, let me.
Speaker 14 (32:56):
See bouncing ball to third accessed throws not only get
a series win in Miami, their first sweep of the year.
Speaker 1 (33:12):
All right, there is your tire reckplay other day, and
it's brought to you by, of course, tirerack dot Com.
Speaker 2 (33:18):
Tirerack dot com is.
Speaker 1 (33:21):
The brought to you of over forty years, tire rec
has been helping customers find the right tires for Howwood
and where they drive, ship fast and free back by
free Road, has a protection with convenient insulation options like
mobile tire Wrack tire Insulation tire reck dot Com.
Speaker 2 (33:34):
It is the way tire buying should be.
Speaker 5 (33:37):
And that was the Rockies Radio network.
Speaker 1 (33:40):
Oh man, they finally got to they win. They finally
a couple of a couple of days, right.
Speaker 5 (33:44):
Doing a cash down on a couple of them. Remember that,
Yeah you did?
Speaker 1 (33:48):
Yeah, they mean on Struggle Bus City for sure, all right,
somebody is trying to get the Barry Sanders on, as
I say, Kwan Barkley, who had some things to say
when it comes to possibility of a retiring early, maybe
another year two four, he said, we got something for
that rob Ge.
Speaker 2 (34:06):
All right, so he said on the podcast. But he
talked about with Chris.
Speaker 1 (34:09):
Long how he may maybe don't want to play that
Long doesn't want to be all beaten, batter than bruised,
and said he could see himself at some.
Speaker 2 (34:18):
Point retiring soon.
Speaker 1 (34:20):
And to me, his favorite player was barryby Sanders, and
I think he number one. He has some highlight plays
like Barry, but also Rob I think winning a Super
Bowl in the fashion in which he did, meaning the
season he just had coming to a new team, had
a chance to break the rushing title, had the most
yards ever when you can bine a regular season, postseason,
(34:41):
and I think, and then going out with the Super Bowl.
I could absolutely see him saying I don't need to
play five, six, seven, eight more years, getting hit, getting beaten,
getting you know, bruised up, beat down. I can see
him saying another couple of years, obviously, you want to
you know, see if you can run it back, win
another title, give it a couple more years, two, three years.
But you look up man and you'll be he's headed
(35:04):
to the Hall of Fame as long as he has
at least another season or two, pretty much like he
normally does, got a chance to maybe before.
Speaker 5 (35:11):
You don't know about the Hall of Fame.
Speaker 2 (35:13):
I you don't think so. I think he's I think
he's I think he's a couple more away, a couple
more seasons.
Speaker 5 (35:18):
That didn't last season didn't seal him in the Hall
of Fame.
Speaker 1 (35:21):
To me, I think if he has it doesn't even
have to be as great as what he had last year,
because I no, no, I'm just saying, yeah, if he
gives me two more of what you know, fifteen one
hundred yards twelve fifteen touchdowns a year, yeah, I think
he'll be in there because that Super Bowl ring absolutely
will be the thing that maybe pushes him over the top.
And for sure had he had the rushing title, because
(35:42):
I mean, he was super Bowl winning rushing title, you
know all pro handful of times.
Speaker 5 (35:47):
I'm just not there. I'm just not there to stamp him.
Speaker 1 (35:49):
Yet I agree, I agree he's he's not. Derrick Henry
is stamped. Yes, I se kwon. I would argue Christen
McCaffrey to there. They're right there, but they need a
couple more seasons of some significance to put him in.
Has been hurt too much. I agree with the talent.
The talent is not the question. It's the longevity. It's
(36:12):
the accomplishments, you know, all kind of rolled together.
Speaker 2 (36:16):
But I can see him retiring. They seemed like the guy,
I don't know.
Speaker 1 (36:18):
He strikes me as somebody I could see who doesn't
want to have to play, you know, fifteen seasons, and
I could see him.
Speaker 5 (36:26):
Well, and then he could go play golf with Trump.
Speaker 2 (36:29):
Was going to go there.
Speaker 1 (36:30):
I'm just saying I was going to go there and say,
he strikes me as somebody who maybe wants to do
some other things, you know, some political ties and could be.
Speaker 6 (36:41):
But yeah, but I think I'm never met at any
NFL player that wants to get out of the game sooner.
The health risks are so bad for people, and it's
just a fact they know it. They can make a
lot of money playing football. But we've talked about this
numerous times. You know, former NFL players and I know
a ton of them because I've been coming to the
league forever, and a lot of them, you know, don't enjoy.
Speaker 5 (37:07):
Playing football as much as you might think, you.
Speaker 2 (37:10):
Know, I e A. That's the dirty little season secret
it is. How dare you tell people that talk to
those guys?
Speaker 6 (37:17):
Honestly, They'll be like, dude, I hate this, but i
can make a lot of money at it, so I'm gonna.
Speaker 5 (37:21):
Do it for a while.
Speaker 1 (37:22):
Where else can I have a three to ten year career,
making anywhere from a million to twenty five, you know, million,
depending on how good or great you are, for for
four or five, six, ten, twelve years and have that
kind of money by the time I'm thirty two years old.
Speaker 2 (37:38):
Where else can I do that? But?
Speaker 1 (37:40):
Oh boy, are you so right? When you talk to
some x NFL players, they loved it. They enjoyed the ride,
but the love of the game where they had to
go through the brutality of it.
Speaker 2 (37:50):
Man, they hated it. They just knew.
Speaker 1 (37:52):
I've happened to be a specimen. I'm six', three you,
KNOW i can run a four three. Forty i'm six
to two fifty fast AND i can tackle. People, Man
i'm an. Run i'm ana ride it. Out but you
talk to a lot OF xnfl, players you know this,
rock they would prefer their sons not to.
Speaker 6 (38:11):
Play, well we got. Ephm hephram says it all the.
Time he has not allowed his kids to play. Football,
yeah it's very. Tough so if somebody can, play have
success and get out and be, HEALTHY i could understand.
That i'm not mad at anybody who decides that for their,
Health i'll get.
Speaker 1 (38:29):
It, Nope and he's, Uh and he's basically about twenty
eight hundred yards away from kind of that benchmark of
ten thousand. Yards so he'll have to get two or
three more seasons to get, that and then of COURSE
i think he'll be stamped at that. Point and he's
made he's made a significant amount of. Money you, know
obviously there's more be, made but so money he gets
another two, years gets ten, Thousand hall Of, fame will
(38:51):
have had a nice heck of a.
Speaker 2 (38:52):
Career
