Speaker 2 (04:22):
We be proud of that. I made it home, Alex.

Speaker 3 (04:26):
Go ahead, we got you got a question from me?

Speaker 1 (04:27):
We got to start over already? No, go ahead, I'm
asking you. How did did your last night with Did
you have withdraws from? No cheesecake all? I'm gonna say,
do we need to start over? No, we're not starting over.

Speaker 2 (04:40):
I'm good.

Speaker 3 (04:43):
I went to bed at nine o'clock just so you
would yow. That was the only way.

Speaker 2 (04:52):
I'm not lying.

Speaker 3 (04:53):
You know what time? I woke up five o'clock one am? No,
because I went to bed so early, I woke up
at one am. I told rob G I couldn't. I
had to go to sleep.

Speaker 2 (05:03):
What did you do at one am? Then? I'm then
you had your pistachio?

Speaker 3 (05:07):
No, I had the pistachios before I went to bed,
but that was it. And can you ready for this?

Speaker 2 (05:11):
What's that?

Speaker 3 (05:12):
I have my dinner for tonight here in the refrigerator
to eat right after the show. I'm gonna eat dinner.
I'm done for tonight.

Speaker 2 (05:18):
Okay, so there he is. You know it's hard day
one when you go to bed at nine. Yeah, I
went to bed at nine. Yeah. I respected that. I
just didn't want to.

Speaker 1 (05:24):
Be thinking about like, wait a minute, it should not
have something else or what I wouldn't that not yet.
We're building up our stamina for that, right, we're building a.

Speaker 3 (05:31):
Sixty days fifty nine to go. Guys, we're all on this.
We're losing weight. Join in with us. Eat rights, nothing,
white yep alex right, nothing.

Speaker 2 (05:41):
You guys are on your own.

Speaker 4 (05:41):
I'm having bread six and pouce is nice.

Speaker 2 (05:44):
Oh wow wow?

Speaker 4 (05:46):
Where'd that by me?

Speaker 2 (05:48):
Okay, all right, all right, I'm not bad at it.

Speaker 4 (05:50):
I'm putting on weight. You guys can lose.

Speaker 1 (05:52):
I know that's all right. I just wanted more than anything,
you tighten it up.

Speaker 2 (05:56):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (05:56):
So obviously the Super Bowls behind us didn't mean we'll
stop talking about football. It's plenty to talk about Epham's
coming up, but let's talk about last night. Luca finally
made his debut fourteen points, a little rusty and played
since Christmas, which is fine. What was he won? For
six or seven, seven from the three point line, fourteen points.

(06:19):
It was you know, it was fine.

Speaker 2 (06:20):
He looked good.

Speaker 3 (06:21):
It was a blowout at a nice easy opponent than Utah,
a really bad team. But I guess your your your
thoughts now that winning the NBA Championship is that where
you're going.

Speaker 2 (06:31):
They're three peating, Okay, they're three peating.

Speaker 3 (06:33):
Good.

Speaker 1 (06:33):
Lebron's gonna play extra couple of years. Good there. I
want it to be just like the three peat that
the Chiefs just had. It was great to see Luca
added to what they've been doing the last several games. Anyway,
because Lebron had been out a game, they still were winning.
Austin Reeves has been on a tear lately, so it
was good to see, all Right, how's Luca going to
fit in this thing? Obviously, Day won and they picked

(06:54):
a great opponent in the Jats to kind of get
things going, get some fluidity.

Speaker 2 (06:59):
Man.

Speaker 1 (06:59):
But they're a well right now, even before Luca. They're
nine and one of their last ten games, which is crazy.
Now they sit at fourth in the West. They're are
what a game and a half behind Denver at for third.
They've been playing well defensively one of the top ranked
defensive teams in the last twelve games. Offensively with efficiency

(07:19):
top twelve top teams in the last twelve games as well.
Lebron has been on the tear. They asked JJ Reddick
last night, you know, at what's happened with Lebron. It
seems like he's been playing like a next level and
they and JJ says, I had to talk to him
after the blowout in Portland, and that's all. It's all
I have to say about that. So whatever that conversation was,
I don't.

Speaker 2 (07:38):
Know what it was.

Speaker 3 (07:39):
So of course JJ's trying to take credit that he
motivated Lebron after twenty years.

Speaker 1 (07:43):
Yeah, I mean, I'm not pat Riley at all. But
what I'm saying is Lebron is looked really good. So
in the addition to Luca Man it sparks something I
think you're gonna get for right now at least, and hopefully,
you know, the injury stays away from the Lebron because
that's really the main key.

Speaker 2 (07:58):
I like what you're gonna get from them.

Speaker 1 (08:00):
Offensively, I like what you're getting from them with some
of the pieces gave Vincent finally coming around somebody they
got from Miami can play.

Speaker 2 (08:07):
Pinney Smith.

Speaker 1 (08:09):
He is playing well defensively, shoe the ball exactly what
you hope for.

Speaker 2 (08:13):
Ruey is playing well.

Speaker 1 (08:14):
So my thing about it, Rob is while they're playing great,
it's also a look at the West and outside of OKC,
which is just dominating the West at forty three to nine,
it becomes Grizzlies, who are second right now in the West.
They don't necessarily scare me if I'm the Lakers. I mean,
they just beat them recently. I don't even think Lebron
was playing that game. The Nuggets are the Nuggets. That's

(08:37):
the worry with Jokis. But outside from that, I go
to rockets below the Lakers. They don't necessarily scare me
from the Lakers. Now that I have Luca, Clippers don't
scare me. Timperwells don't scare me. Mavericks don't scare me
because especially with Ad being hurt, So a part of.

Speaker 2 (08:49):
This optimism isn't just simply them.

Speaker 1 (08:52):
It's also Rob looking at the West saying outside of OKCE,
there's no team if I'm the Lakers that say we
can't beat And I think that's a good feeling as
they try to find their way their mess, uh and
find a way.

Speaker 2 (09:04):
To be you know, cohesive with Luca moving forward.

Speaker 1 (09:06):
So that's a two man tandam that's scary rob those
two in the offensives in a in a series of
me seven game series, Lebron and Luca, that's a scary
tannem with the ball in hand because they can create
for themselves.

Speaker 3 (09:18):
Once again, Uh, you're just making the I got a
new toy and it's better than anything I ever had.
But you haven't said anything if Luca and Lebron are
that scary? Are they gonna win the NBA Championship? Are
they gonna get to the championship? He played twenty four minutes.
I'm asking you don't and I don't know. There's no answer.

(09:39):
No why because I saw one game?

Speaker 2 (09:43):
Can I get a week?

Speaker 3 (09:44):
No?

Speaker 2 (09:44):
Can I get two weeks? Because just when I get
a month?

Speaker 3 (09:47):
What you said was nothing.

Speaker 2 (09:48):
What I said was there's nobody scary.

Speaker 3 (09:50):
And what does that mean?

Speaker 1 (09:52):
That means that prior to Luca, the Lakers like a
similar team. The years they went they won one championship
and they went to Wescotts. My point is, so I'm
just trying to say, you mean he's that much better
as Anthony Davis Garbage.

Speaker 2 (10:05):
Yes, he says, no, I think Davis not Garbage.

Speaker 3 (10:07):
Come on, Ron and Anthony Davis were making it into
they had to go into the play in. They're completely
he's a completely different player, Rob. You should know that
he's a completely different player. The issue with the Lakers
have been if Lebron doesn't greave championship and Luca hasn't.
He was the favorite last year. Oh, they're gonna beat

(10:28):
the Celtics. Everybody in their uncle picked up the Mavericks
and what happened? And then you say, oh, well, you
know it depends on the injury. Yeah, Lebron is injury prone.
He's forty years old. Yes, he can do it for
a stretch, but can he do it back to back?
Can he do it as much as they need him?
And Luke And that's been the same exact thing. Luca

(10:49):
has been hurt a lot. Luca has missed time. That's
the issue with him. And so that's why I wait, wait.

Speaker 2 (10:57):
Wait, so what are you saying.

Speaker 3 (10:58):
I'm saying they're not going to the Western Conference Finals.
I'm not buying this hype. And one day, oh, Luca
everything the Lakers do is great. Oh the Lakers got this.
You're the Luca part of it. You act like a part.
So I'm saying, so, where's where's Luca?

Speaker 5 (11:15):
Right?

Speaker 2 (11:15):
Where's to the finals? Where's ye that?

Speaker 3 (11:18):
I said that?

Speaker 1 (11:19):
And he went to the where last year he went
to the finals. So all of a sudden he got
to the finals.

Speaker 3 (11:25):
So what happened? He was he the favorite last year?
I'm asking he was.

Speaker 2 (11:28):
Lost in the fight.

Speaker 3 (11:29):
He was the overwhelming favorite, yes or no, I don't remember.

Speaker 2 (11:33):
Overwhelming he was? He was over what they overwhelming?

Speaker 3 (11:36):
Nobody believed in the Celtics.

Speaker 2 (11:38):
Oh okay, you're getting carried away with the nobody believe.

Speaker 1 (11:40):
You absolutely getting carried away with nobody believe the same Celtics,
the same Celtics who have taken your yes, thank.

Speaker 2 (11:47):
You, because what are you talking about? The overwhelming favorite?

Speaker 1 (11:51):
They went to the finals before the Celtics, take your head, yes, pro,
they went to the finals before the Celtics. They've been
in the Eastern Conference finals a million times. The Cics
were a heck.

Speaker 2 (12:00):
Of a team.

Speaker 3 (12:01):
Your body going out and talking about I'll bring you up.

Speaker 2 (12:04):
So the man gets to the finals.

Speaker 3 (12:06):
Pull up the ESPN when they made the picks for
the championship last year of the Celtics and the Mavericks.

Speaker 2 (12:14):
Go look it up. Okay, I don't care what four
or five. What I'm saying.

Speaker 1 (12:18):
Tell you don't have the overwhelming favorites is what you said,
and they were not.

Speaker 3 (12:22):
This is the typical Laker. Okay, nine to eight. No,
it was ninety eight eight, nineteen nine, and I'm gonna
tell you this, that's overwhelming. This is the chypical chipical.
The Lakers do something, They're gonna win the championship.

Speaker 2 (12:39):
Nobody said that.

Speaker 3 (12:40):
Brown has four freaking championships in twenty years and they're
gonna win the championship because Lucas showed up.

Speaker 2 (12:48):
Really, okay, this is that's.

Speaker 1 (12:52):
Luca donches and it was a bubble championship that he
won here he hadn't won a real championship in over
ten years. You just said it is one of the
top three best players in that I said top five,
top okay, top five, Most people say top three. And
then he goes to the finals last year. Now he's
with Lebron who is still one of the top whatever
you want to him play any defense of players, Oh, yes,

(13:15):
we're not going there he is, he doesn't play defense.
I agree with that.

Speaker 3 (13:19):
What he's top one in a series, I'm talking. I'll
answer the question top one a series just offensively. That's
not how you great be.

Speaker 1 (13:27):
There are there are maybe four guys on five guys,
Max I take over Lebron in a series maybe, and
that's just one of them. Don't count because he's on
his team in Luca. So I'm saying, if Luka Dotsiskin
drag a team to the finals, y can't he drag
a team with Lebron to the Western Commerce Finals? Was
he ain't Kyrie Lebronn And the issue was they didn't
have any shot creators. That's the issue with the Lakers

(13:49):
and what it's been. If Lebron goes to the bitch,
who else can create other people?

Speaker 3 (13:54):
One championship in twenty some odd years and automatically he's going.

Speaker 2 (13:59):
To the Why where we are?

Speaker 1 (14:01):
Why do you keep You're literally ignoring the person who's
better than Lebron right now and Luca, Okay, this is
about Luca. You keep bringing up the Luka Dancis, the
arguably best player, second third best player in the league,
is not with him?

Speaker 2 (14:15):
Are you forgetting that. I didn't say Austin rais alone.

Speaker 3 (14:17):
He didn't play since Christmas, right, Okay, he's injury prone.
He also has a bad habit of getting out of shape.
We know that. No, I'm just telling you. These are facts.
These are facts. He has a he's twenty five. He
has a thirty five year old body. Did you watch
him yesterday and you look at him. Does he look

(14:38):
like he's twenty five? He looks like he's thirty five.
I mean, look, that's how Look by the time the
season is over, he might be fifty five. That's what
he looks like. I'm not there. I'm not there with you.
I'm not there.

Speaker 1 (14:51):
They are with Anthony Davis. What are you talking about?
And Anthony Davis were They were going to the.

Speaker 3 (14:56):
Western Conference final either with Anthony Davis, and they're not
going to do.

Speaker 1 (15:00):
Is Luca better than Anthony Davis? Yes, so they got
worse somehow to you? No, they got there the same,
They're the same, they got same adding a better player.

Speaker 3 (15:08):
No, they actually they did get worse on the defensive end. So, yes,
you're right, the defensive end, they're not as good as
they were with Anthony Davis. Who could protect the rim
and do some other stuff with his size. Lucas not
a good defender, and neither is Lebron. And they could
score all the points they want, but teams will be
able to score against them.

Speaker 2 (15:27):
They don't play defense.

Speaker 3 (15:29):
We just saw the Philadelphia Eagles win a Super Bowl
one off of defense. We talk about it all the time.
You gotta get stopped, you gotta get blocks. It ain't
just about scoring. That's not how you win. We know that.

Speaker 1 (15:43):
But I tell you what if I got the balls
Brian Lucahan, Brian le not prime, but and Lebron's hand,
that's a lot to deal with man and I don't
know who that's a That's a lot to stop possession
for possession.

Speaker 2 (15:56):
Hot, you are all right?

Speaker 3 (15:58):
Eight seven, seven ninety nine off Fox are Luca, Lebron
and the like lakers of luck for the Western Conference Finals.
That's what Kelvin says. We'll continue that conversation next with you.
It is the couple on a trash talking Tuesday right
here on Fox Sports Radio. I'm hot, I'm bother. We
want to hear from you.

Speaker 2 (16:18):
This massive cheesecake.

Speaker 1 (16:19):
You don't know how to act one day with withdrawals.

Speaker 2 (16:23):
Lakers one day.

Speaker 4 (16:24):
Another great player's career in the us EVA one day.

Speaker 2 (16:27):
That is how you act.

Speaker 5 (16:28):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Odd Couple
with Rob Parker and Kelvin Washington weekdays at seven pm Eastern,
four pm Pacific on Fox Sports Radio and the iHeartRadio app.

Speaker 1 (16:40):
Add Couple Robin Kelvin on a trash Talking Tuesday coming
up in about an hour and I don't know.

Speaker 2 (16:47):
Maybe twenty minutes or so.

Speaker 1 (16:48):
Looking forward to that, coming to you live from the
tire rack dot com studios. We're gonna take some calls now.
We've been talking about Lakers. Finally had their la a
Laker Luca debut. He played four minutes. Had that was
eleven points. They go ahead and get the w blowout
to the Utah Jazz. They're nine to one the last ten.
I say, this is a team that can make to

(17:09):
the Western Conference finals. Rob says, no way. Nohow eight seven,
seven ninety nine on Fox.

Speaker 3 (17:15):
If you want to jump in, uh, jump in, good
chance to jump in here. As you start to talk
some football, let's go to basketball.

Speaker 1 (17:23):
I mean you still got football on the brain, right
The Super Bowl was over two days ago.

Speaker 3 (17:27):
Brandon in Riverside, California. You're on the odd couple of
Fox up Radio.

Speaker 6 (17:32):
Going on, Man, it was good. I'm good man.

Speaker 2 (17:35):
How are you?

Speaker 5 (17:35):
No?

Speaker 6 (17:36):
You had you had a great weekend after that?

Speaker 3 (17:38):
After that, Oh yeah, I had to.

Speaker 2 (17:42):
Extra baby on. You came in the parking lot. We
saw the drippings of baby on everywhere. We knew Rob
was here.

Speaker 6 (17:49):
Oh man, but Calvin, I'm letting you know. You call
in Western Coffee. You worse than my employees.

Speaker 5 (17:58):
You.

Speaker 6 (17:59):
They're not gonna make it to the Western Conference. I
saw the game, Yes, they just to watch it. Of course,
I know Luca he's going to bring something different. But
what's what I focused seeing on him was Utah, they
got to the basket anytime they felt like getting to
the basket, and that because they didn't have AD to
protect the rims. And yes, and that's going to hurt him.

(18:20):
I know that's gonna hurt him for sure. I'm not saying.
I'm not saying Lebron and the Luca not gonna pull
off some games. And because I give it, give the
the role players a lot of credit. They've been hitting,
they shot, they've been winning some games. They beat some big,
big team and at thirteen games. But I just I
just don't see them making it to the Western Conference. Man,
I ain't gonna list that's how.

Speaker 2 (18:41):
Yeah, I don't.

Speaker 1 (18:42):
I don't. You didn't say anything crazy, I don't like.
It's not like I'm up to totally disagree with you.
I totally get on what you're understanding. I just think
Uh in shape, motivated, Luca uh and again role player.
With those role players doing their thing, that's a lot
to deal with. They do need stay signed Lynn seven
footer who had the need some size because to his point,
that's a big concern. Folks can get to the basket

(19:03):
score a little easier than you would like them to.

Speaker 3 (19:05):
All right, Drew in New Jersey, you're on the odd
couple of Fox Sports Radio. What's up?

Speaker 2 (19:09):
What's up?

Speaker 1 (19:09):
Drew?

Speaker 6 (19:10):
So I definitely think they can go to the finals. Also,
I know you keep on, you keep on saying that
the Celtics were not savored. Celtics actually were favored by
minus twenty five.

Speaker 3 (19:21):
I'm talking about the people who didn't believe in Tatum
and them kept saying because they have their failures, didn't
I'm not no, Yes, he did. He let in every category,
he let in every category. I'm not true, Drew look
it up, talked about it. No, no, no, he let it.

Speaker 1 (19:44):
Go.

Speaker 2 (19:44):
Look it up. I remember Chris and I talking about that.

Speaker 6 (19:47):
I did look it up.

Speaker 3 (19:47):
No, he let an like he led the Celtics in
every year. He let the Celtics in every step, in
every category.

Speaker 6 (19:54):
He got from the floor, didn't. Kyrie Irving didn't play
well either. Kyrie Irving average under twenty points and he
shot forty.

Speaker 3 (20:02):
Okay, okay, did Luca win? Did Luca win?

Speaker 5 (20:06):
Then?

Speaker 2 (20:07):
Why didn't he win if he's the best player? What
that doesn't always happen?

Speaker 1 (20:12):
I'm asking you said the best player didn't win though, right? Okay,
So that's why that's why the best player doesn't always win.
And when you have two liabilities on defense, it's going
to be a problem with younger guys, especially with when
you talk about Lebron.

Speaker 3 (20:27):
We've seen it. He's a statue eight seven seven Fox?
Is that a Pharrell.

Speaker 6 (20:37):
For real?

Speaker 2 (20:38):
Sorry?

Speaker 3 (20:38):
Oldfharella, Opharell and Miamia?

Speaker 2 (20:41):
What's up? How are you? You're in the odd couple?

Speaker 7 (20:44):
Like you got to do a great show.

Speaker 3 (20:46):
Thank you.

Speaker 7 (20:46):
I like when you I like how you mean when
you're wrong? But your challenge other analysts with your company,
and you send your ground. So that's what got me connected.

Speaker 3 (20:58):
Well you know, I'm I'm glad to talking about you.
He's wrong, no, no, yeah, of course he said I'm wrong,
But but you know what, I want to say this
and anybody who comes on the show, they know it.
Like Rob g we've lost a lot of people from
coming on. I'm probably right, No, some because we do
push back on even our guests, and it's okay, it's

(21:18):
not disrespectful, but sometime we don't agree.

Speaker 2 (21:21):
You remember me and Trey Wingo had a big blow up.
He came back to I have some popcorn. Because I
was sitting there this was like, it's all good.

Speaker 1 (21:28):
First few weeks on the show, and all I kept
thinking was if Rob though hustle, let me get on?

Speaker 2 (21:32):
Yes, all right, Oh we lost. I wanted to hear
what he had to say.

Speaker 3 (21:35):
I wish you would have called back.

Speaker 2 (21:37):
Yeah for dropped because he called right back.

Speaker 1 (21:39):
Okay, all right, let's get We'll take some more of
your phone eight seven seven ninety nine on Fox if
you want to hop in on this right now. Steve
the Segre with What's trending be.

Speaker 5 (21:48):
Sure to catch live editions of The Odd Couple with
Rob Parker and Kelvin Washington weekdays at seven pm Eastern,
four pm Pacific on Fox Sports Radio and the iHeartRadio app.

Speaker 1 (21:59):
Talking about Luca do I just made his debut with
the Lakers. He looked pretty good as far as moving around.
They would make some assist. The shot wasn't falling as
he's getting his legs back. But Austin Ree's good game
for him, good game for Lebron. They're nine and won
their last ten, and we were just conversating on what
we can see, conversing on what we can see happening
for them. To me, this team, if they get one

(22:19):
more piece of a mid level extensus, another defender, another
big really like it eight seven, seven ninety nine on Fox.

Speaker 2 (22:25):
Who we got.

Speaker 3 (22:27):
O'rail roll in Miami. You're in the Odd Couple of Fox.
Buated gradually called back, buddy, what's up?

Speaker 7 (22:33):
I'm getting your props to that. I guess you guys
got caught in there together.

Speaker 3 (22:36):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (22:36):
Man, he just got so excited.

Speaker 6 (22:37):
We were like, oh man, no, no, no, go ahead,
all good, but uh, you know, I agree that, and
I think he did.

Speaker 7 (22:44):
Lucas some times. I mean, he didn't do what he
did in Dallas by accident. But my question to you
and listening my perception, I know we all feel that
way about what took place with Miami and Butler. I
think the Heat need a big mistake. And what I'm
saying is that his mind it was. You know, I
carry a team, I push a team, and yes I

(23:04):
had some issues as far as the injury, but look
what happened in Dallas. They trade for the singers a
game and it happened, So he probably felt disrespected. Now
he goes to going to state, they're touring over him
and too right, Ryanmon going backwards, what do you think
about that?

Speaker 2 (23:22):
I mean, I think that was Miami's choice.

Speaker 1 (23:24):
I think pat Riley, right or wrong, is the type
of guy with his pride who will say I'm willing
to die and go down with the ship. You know,
I'm willing to I'm willing to prove a point to
Jimmy Butler and not better my team and not make
some moves and not make a trade.

Speaker 2 (23:37):
Then the you know, then to just give him what
he wants.

Speaker 1 (23:40):
So I think pat Riley's just that old school guy
from a different air who's like, I ain't caving in,
and Jimmy Butler is that same type of person.

Speaker 2 (23:48):
I ain't caving in, And that's what you got.

Speaker 3 (23:50):
He didn't get the money that he wanted from Miami.
He got less to go to Golden State. But that's fine.
I mean, if I'm the if I'm Miami, they didn't
cave they didn't give He wanted one ten on top
of the fifty two that he already had set up,
and he got a.

Speaker 1 (24:04):
Total of like one twenty two year, one twenty you
know what I mean. Yeah, well that's crazy Olden State.
They just want to do that. They got older players.
I mean, it could blow up, they could, but that's
what they're doing. They're like, wait, they feel they have
no choice. So ridiculous. Alex in Miami, you're on the
ot of Miami calls.

Speaker 2 (24:24):
Shot the Miami hot like yeah, shot up to the
three oh five. That means that I'll signal crystal clear,
Yeah clear.

Speaker 6 (24:32):
Listen. As far as the Lakers, Tho Man, I think
the Lakers as an organization at the right move. They
secured their future by getting Luca I think Lebron. Depending
on how far they go this year, maybe he stays,
maybe he doesn't go somewhere else, and they build Munt
Luca and in pat Riley, we trust baby.

Speaker 1 (24:49):
So you win it all right, pat Riley, you trust
Lebron ain't going nowhere, by the way, he's already said
he's not. I think he's gonna embrace this Luca run
for obviously this season, probably next season minimally. I don't
think he's going anywhere without uh. With Luca now getting it,
that's probably a more resurgent Lebron and that for once
he doesn't have to do it all as far as

(25:09):
creating and carrying and bringing the ball up. That's been
the beauty and the curse of Lebron is that he
has to get the guys involved so much. That's why
he was able to have so much success with Kyrie
was another guy that can be here. You know, you
do you I don't have to be I gotta get
this guy shot. Because Lebron has always been surrounded with
three point shooters on the corner, Mike Miller, James Jones
j R. Smith, Kyle Kover, you know, just guys in

(25:32):
the perimeter. But at this point in his career, he
needs guys who can when I go to the bench
for this five minutes, can somebody else run the offense?
And that's why they were successful when they had Rondo
because Rondo came right in the game for the Lakers,
you know, boom, get keeping the flow going, keeping the
flow going. And they haven't really had that Austin reeves
at times. But that's the beauty of what this could
be with Luca is another person who I got this.

(25:54):
I'm moving the ball, I'm getting shots up, I'm getting
guys going, and Lebron just hasn't had that in quite
some time.

Speaker 3 (26:00):
This will be interesting just to see, you know, there's
a lot of a lot of things going there as
far as how well Luca plays defensively, what happens when
they played some of the better teams and bigger player.
You know, you'll take a look at it and you'll
see where it is. I just I don't see it
like off the bat because of the defense.

Speaker 2 (26:21):
Yeah, that's what I mean.

Speaker 1 (26:22):
That's a legitimate That's why Finney Smith was a great pickup.
You can play the three to four stretch three, you know,
D and three and D kind of guy. Stretch four
can guard wings, can guard some biggs That was a
great pickup for them because he can do that, and
getting Vanderbilt back was huge.

Speaker 2 (26:40):
Guy, all I want to do is.

Speaker 1 (26:41):
Play twenty twenty five minutes, running around, play defense, rebound
five guys. They needed that kind of guy as well,
so that was big for them to get him as well.
All Right, shekel City on the way, you've been one
and two like the last few hope don't tell me now,
but there's been a lot of one and two is
hopefully you get back on track my guy. And also too,
a Hall of Fame quarterback in the NFL maybe having
to find a new team.

Speaker 2 (27:02):
We'll discuss that as well. It is The Odd Couple
Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 5 (27:06):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Odd Couple

Speaker 2 (27:28):

you was sad? And this is it?

Speaker 5 (27:31):
That was that was it.

Speaker 3 (27:32):
That was my little snack last night.

Speaker 1 (27:34):
Now, pistachios all men things that that can be tricky,
like no, no, no, you can't have a lot. You
can't have a lot, can't eat to hold bag? Yeah,
but it's simpty because are you really better as walnuts?
So I have walnuts are better, and I have walnuts
and pistachios. But to weighe off of cheesecake. Let's sell
with the pistachios and get to the wall nuts.

Speaker 4 (27:52):
In brazil nuts the best brazil right, Yes, they look
like acorns.

Speaker 2 (28:40):

Speaker 3 (28:40):
Then we go one and two again last night, just no,
just stop.

Speaker 2 (28:45):
It's like five days in a row.

Speaker 1 (28:46):
It's been bad. I know, but I'm at thirty eight
and forty three. So I'm not like you know where
I can't get back. I can definitely get back you
And all right, so.

Speaker 3 (28:58):
Can you call it? Pull up? The NBA's going real quick.

Speaker 1 (29:00):
Yeah, I got you right, Yeah, put NBA odds, NBA odds, okay,
NBA adds. So we got best bet the Knicks? Okay,
got NBA odds. Yeah, I got it up here. Now
all right, let me get to it all right? Today?
Who we got the Knicks?

Speaker 3 (29:17):
Knicks?

Speaker 2 (29:19):
Why don't I see the Knicks? They're playing?

Speaker 3 (29:21):
But they're on TV right now? All right, can you
find up?

Speaker 2 (29:23):
I will find it.

Speaker 1 (29:24):
Keep you doing the Pistons right now, I'm taking the Knicks,
the Pistons favorite four and a half.

Speaker 3 (29:30):
We're taking the Pistons. Who are they playing?

Speaker 1 (29:32):
Give me the Pistons are playing the Bulls. They're at
Chicago and their favorite four and a half?

Speaker 2 (29:36):
What you got there?

Speaker 5 (29:36):
You go?

Speaker 1 (29:37):
I got the Pistons Grizzlies. They are at Phoenix and
they are favorite four and a half.

Speaker 3 (29:42):
I got the Grizzlies, and my best bet is the
New York Knickabockers who are playing. They're right here, the
game is on right here.

Speaker 2 (29:49):
Yeah, they don't put that one because they're playing now,
so it's too late.

Speaker 1 (29:52):
Uh So I don't know. I have to go see
what it was not because they won't shop to you
what they playing two and a half over the pages
that were you got to take it. Yeah, so ill
here you go.

Speaker 3 (30:03):
I got the Knicks, the Pistons, and the Grizzlies. I
remember one thing.

Speaker 2 (30:08):
What's that?

Speaker 3 (30:08):
I'm not telling you who to bet on? Tell them,
I'm telling you why I bet on.

Speaker 1 (30:13):
Interesting conversation, new news that come out from the Jets
when it comes to Aaron Rodgers. So Diana Rossini of
course covers the league got some good insight as to
what was happening, what was going through the Jets mindset
when it comes to possibly resigning Aaron Rodgers.

Speaker 2 (30:31):
Here's what she had to say when they.

Speaker 8 (30:32):
Had conversations with Aaron Rodgers about what the future would
look like if you're going to be part of this team,
you're going to attend all the trading camp. You're not
going to g Pat McAfee interviews anymore.

Speaker 3 (30:42):
Wait, they said that, Yeah, if you were.

Speaker 8 (30:44):
To stay here, here's how we would want it to be.
So this to me is Aaron Glad getting control back.

Speaker 3 (30:52):
So do you think that if he would have agreed
to not do that stuff, that he would have been
their quarterback?

Speaker 8 (30:56):
I think that no matter what the Jets were going
to say, Rogers wanted to move on.

Speaker 3 (31:04):
I agree with that, and I don't think that he
would allow them to say what he can and can't do.
Not when you not when you're a sad sack organization
that hasn't won anything in fifty years, seriously, and you
can say whatever you want about He won a championship,
he's been a ball pro four times, it's won four MVPs.

(31:26):
He has an impressive resume. He's going he's going to
the Hall of Fame, right, So I don't believe that
that was gonna work. And we'll see. The Jets have
had a law. I get it, optimism. The new coach, Oh,
Aaron Glenn, we're gonna do what we did in Detroit.
That sounds good. There's been a lot of I've been
following this team my whole life, you know, that was

(31:47):
my team. I had two teams growing up, and I mean,
of course I grew up and I followed the Knicks
and I was an Islanders fan, but uh, the Jets
and the Mets one the two teams I follow even
closer than the other two. And so they've done, They've
made a lot of mistakes. And we've seen this movie
Brett Favre. I could just go on and on and on.

(32:09):
So yeah, it probably And I said this originally when
he went there, it was gonna.

Speaker 2 (32:14):
Be a mistake.

Speaker 3 (32:15):
Like I just I knew it was gonna be a mistake.
That wasn't gonna work out to what he wanted to be.
I never thought he'd get four snaps in the first chief.
Nobody predict that that that that changed everything. That that
was the team that was closer and better. That defense
last year wasn't the defense that it was two years ago.
Would you agree with that?

Speaker 2 (32:33):
No, without a doubt. And that's what they were banking on, right.

Speaker 1 (32:35):
We just need better quarterback play, to this solid running game,
to this great defense, and we'll be good to go
all out putting Tom Brady in Tampa Bay and it
didn't work out like that. I believe they never really
intended to sign him Rob. I think they just wanted
to have that. We tried so they could, you know,
kind of sell a little bit of the fan base

(32:56):
that still.

Speaker 3 (32:56):
Made one of him. They didn't have to sell on air.
It didn't work out. I don't know what I'm saying.
Let me explain what I mean, Okay, because I don't
If say, say.

Speaker 1 (33:05):
Rob Parker, just say you're not in your diet bag
right now, and I say, hey, man, if you don't
eat cheesecake, we can better da da da Like knowing
that matters to you, that's what you do, or you
can't do radio. But if we can, you know, I'll
let you do this other thing like you love to
do radio that matters to you. Aaron Rodgers not doing
Pat McAfee. It's not just a Pat McAfee. It's about

(33:25):
he's expressed himself. It's he's been free to talk about
things right things, dude. So they know coming to him
with something that he's gonna say no to.

Speaker 2 (33:34):
You get what I mean.

Speaker 1 (33:34):
I'm coming with a proposition. I know you're gonna say no.
Just so I can say we tried. Hey, we're all
gonna move on.

Speaker 2 (33:39):
But we tried.

Speaker 3 (33:39):
But I just I just don't think that the fans
were invested, is what I'm saying.

Speaker 1 (33:44):
Like they don't have to sound I'm saying a little
bit of fans. You might say, because they could, I'd
rather start with this guy we know than than who
right now. Well they don't have anybody, That's my point.
So there's gonna be a small contingency.

Speaker 3 (33:55):
And even the whole thing is to if you're Aaron Glenn,
if you want to go at your own quarterback, and
if they struggle the first couple of years, you could say, wow,
I'm trying to develop or I'm trying to do that.
It gives your your windows much longer longer than going
with you go. And it's still another disaster, and they
got to fix a lot of things. Like I talked about,

(34:16):
their defense was not close to what it It's called
the hanger hat on that exactly because I told you
before and I'm not and I've said before. What's funny
is that Aaron Rodgers and Patrick Mahomes had closer a
similar stats. They did, They really did, but one one
fifteen games and the other one won what seven games
or whatever it was. It's just funny how it plays out.

(34:38):
Both didn't play well because I've told you that with
Patrick Mahomes he got better at the end of the year,
but he didn't play well most of the year, and
that's why he didn't get any first place votes for
All Pro or MVP.

Speaker 2 (34:50):
He think you slick, how you just slaid there?

Speaker 1 (34:52):
You slid Patrick Mahomes back up, and he was sitting
there minding his own basiness, crying him out losing the
Super Bowl. We talked about the Jets, all talking about
the Jets right now.

Speaker 2 (34:59):
He didn't all those lucky wins that they got. Now,
all of a sudden, you brought him back up, see
what I'm talking about. No, this is again.

Speaker 1 (35:05):
I just I just think it's best for him to
move on where he goes and the way he's been
having again, him taking that they had a meeting. There's
so many teams, so him going back to take the
same meeting, lets me know he wants he's about to
be your quarterback.

Speaker 3 (35:19):
I was gonna say the Raiders.

Speaker 1 (35:20):
Streets are saying the Raiders got eyes for Sam Donald really,
because because you.

Speaker 3 (35:25):
Know, what that one younger, That one shocked me from
the standpoint of Minnesota not giving the bag to Sam.
I'm telling you, I think those two games really hurt
Sam Donald. Not that there's no place for him, but
they're like, we're gonna pay this guy a lot of
money the two biggest games. He went the bet and
we drafted this quarter who's cheaper, and he can do

(35:48):
what we just did right with the receivers the pieces
we have and get this guy acclimated.

Speaker 1 (35:54):
You try to do as somebody who saw everyone of J. J.
McCarthy's snaps, and I'm just like, no, I'm not I
get what you're saying.

Speaker 2 (36:01):
That makes sense. He wasn't that great towards the end,
Sam Donald. Maybe that was a fluke of.

Speaker 3 (36:05):
A season that I got this young guy that he
doesn't have the track record track record to feel good
like this is normal or this is gonna happen again.
And that's what that's what you get afraid, right, Yeah,
I mean he was going off flight and I heard them,
did you know he was on off flight? Oh you guys,

(36:26):
you got you were telling me he was on a
flight coming back from New Orleans and I and you know,
I wasn't sure at first, and then I heard the
person at the ticket counter or say, if there's a
Ronald McDonald waiting for this flight, can you come to
the can come to so stupid.

Speaker 1 (36:45):
For forty seconds, I actually thought you were gonna say something.
Oh yeah, I saw him and I was like, hey man.
For forty seconds, I was like, Oh, this is about
to be a normal conversation. Then I saw Alex. I
saw the twinkle in his eye.

Speaker 2 (36:58):
I knew it.

Speaker 1 (37:00):
I knew someone was coming. Uh, it's time for the
cowboys to do what we'll tell you next.

Speaker 2 (37:05):
A couple
