Are you being the guy who was supposed to be
not doing social media but somehow he got social media
through the Fox Sports Radio?

Speaker 5 (01:47):
Is that what you're doing?

Speaker 3 (01:48):
Yeah, a little bit of that. I do have to
start the show real quick, if you don't mind me
taking a moment, Mike.

Speaker 6 (01:54):
I found out today, okay, that my cousin, my dad's cousin,
passed away from breast cancer.

Speaker 5 (02:02):
Oh man.

Speaker 3 (02:02):
And she didn't tell anybody that she had it. But
I want to say rest in peace to my cousin,
Carol Jean, who, when she met me at six years old,
subscribed me to Sports Illustrated for Kids, to which I
then received obviously age appropriate up until Hurricane Katrina, which
was what twenty years ago here today, I believe that

(02:26):
yesterday or right around believe it was today, the twenty
ninth of August. I think it's today's date.

Speaker 6 (02:31):
So it was just a wild day in all of
that regard because I can, I don't want to say
definitively say, but I would not be nearly as interested
in sports and doing what I'm doing now if it
wasn't for Carol Jean. So I appreciate you listening and
rest in peace.

Speaker 5 (02:48):
No rest in peace, Carol Jeene.

Speaker 3 (02:49):
Brother. For sure, I'm one of those people man.

Speaker 4 (02:52):
And as you know, as you get older, you definitely
realize the influences you had in your life, the people
who dropped those You know, small seeds help nourish and grow,
and so you absolutely want to give some pay homage
when you can. So the recipees to Carol Jene for sure, brother,
no doubt. So we got Martin Weiss in the building
as well. We got the odd couple crew. We couldn't
do it without him. We got Rob g producer extraordinary

(03:14):
in the building and there I was waiting on some applause.
We got Rob G we also have Manti Milanjo is
gonna get you updated on the update right Care Death
Day Desk. And then we also have on the Ones
and twos, that's right, miss Mary Matt who's been on
the Ones and twos throughout the week as Alex is

(03:36):
taking some time off as well. And Elijah and Saga
are gonna be taking care of our digital and social media.
Elijah's gonna be Sager and Elijah Okay, well you know
who we're talking about. He's gonna take care of the
social media as well. So a lot to get you
on this funky flashback Friday. For over forty years, tire
rec has been helping customers find the right tires for how,

(03:58):
what and where they drive. Ship Fast and free back
by free Road has a protection with convenient insulation options
like mobile tire installation, tire rack dot Com.

Speaker 3 (04:07):
It is the way tire buying should be.

Speaker 5 (04:10):
Martin.

Speaker 4 (04:10):
I will start with this shout out to Rob because
me and Rob had many a conversations obviously about this Mica,
about this Jerry Jones, and my whole thought process was,
you know, hopefully if you're Jerry Jones, this is what
you do is part for the chorus blah blah blah.
They're gonna find a way, and I'm not in the
business of wanting to trade my best player. Rob would say, hey,

(04:30):
if you can get a haul for him, you know,
you trade them. I think that ended up being split
somewhere down the middle because I don't think they got
a haul for one of the top maybe you know,
ten twelve players in the league. Sure, I don't think
you got a haul for that. I don't think you
got enough. And I still stand that, and I think
you would agree. We talked about it. That fine, if
you're gonna trade him, why trade them now when you

(04:51):
could have traded him earlier, right around the draft and
actual and actualized those two first round picks, right, you
could have hate we got these things, we can turn
right around and use them. And so you could have
done it earlier. You could have done it last year,
maybe even got more as far as actual players and pick.

Speaker 5 (05:06):
So to me, it split down the middle.

Speaker 4 (05:08):
He could have got much more if he were going
to trade them based on when he could have traded him.
So now, Martin, we hear this coming out that this
was a unanimous decision to trade him, and so Cordick
Nick Harris of Fort Worth Star Telegram sources behind the scenes.
They basically said the relationship between the Cowboys and Micah

(05:29):
had gotten so bad obviously over the last few weeks
with all the stuff going on, it was irreparable, and
that Jerry Jones and he confirmed that with other people
that listen, we're gonna have to make this trade. And
that you had the front office in, you had some
of the front facing players, some of the leaders on
the team that were consulted in this, they were in
and it was a unanimous decision once it got to

(05:49):
this point that it has the last couple of weeks
in including coach Brian Schottenheimer being involved in this as well.

Speaker 5 (05:55):
So to me, I look at this a couple of ways, Martin.

Speaker 4 (05:59):
One, this is where we got to I still stand
a lot of the portion is on Jerry Jones and
the business and the way he handled his business and
the reasons why he.

Speaker 5 (06:12):
Does what he does.

Speaker 4 (06:13):
That's how we got to this place where it became
a unanimous decision. So when you get when you don't
trade him when you had the opportunity, as we mentioned it,
well now you're kind of forced to get what you
can get right, I will just take what we can get.

Speaker 5 (06:24):
When you could have had.

Speaker 4 (06:25):
More people who were throwing out offers, had you talked
about this a few months ago, or even before the draft,
more teams jump in right, Hey, well shoot it.

Speaker 5 (06:32):
Micah's up. I'll give you.

Speaker 4 (06:34):
This could have had much more a bigger feel to
choose from. So number one, I blame that on Jerry
the way handle it. You could have traded him a
couple of years ago, when your front office and your.

Speaker 5 (06:43):
Team came to you.

Speaker 4 (06:44):
Hey, man, if we're gonna trade Micah right now, you
know we gotta pay him at some point. We don't
want to. It's'd be a great time to do it.
He's youngest, twenty four, he's in all pro. We can
get a lot for him. No, we're gonna keep him
a couple of years. I'nna sign him. That doesn't happen.
You don't sign them, you trade, you don't get that much.
So of course you forced your hand to where now
you can't go back. Michaeh's upset. Micah's causing a fuss.

(07:05):
He's laying on the training table, he's eating popcorn. He's
telling Atlanta Falcons fans to call him. You're over here
yelling and you're going at it with the agent. You've
got to the place, so there's no return. Now, since
we're here, let me offer you this, Martin. When a
relationship ends, you've been in a relationship. Hopefully the one
you're in never gonna end because you just got married.

(07:26):
Congrats again, thank you. But you've been the ones that have.

Speaker 5 (07:29):
We all have.

Speaker 4 (07:29):
And and by the way, relationship don't have to be romantic.
You can be business and partners. It could be homeboys
or friend and that is a two sided coin. I
say that to say, all right, here we are. Now
this relationship ended. Well, Michael, let me offer you this.
This is a chance for you to hear reset. This
is a chance for you to say, well, dang, if

(07:51):
everybody's saying I'm crazy, maybe I am. And what I
mean by that, Michaeh Martin, is that if everybody on
Jerry get it right, Martin.

Speaker 5 (08:00):
Yeah you're not crazy.

Speaker 4 (08:02):
Yeah, let me get back this where you are a
little crazy on you know, part time on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
But look, if we get reports that they're questioning his
leadership right his own team, if we get reports that
you had. Many many come to the coaches and say, hey, man,
I don't know what to do with this guy.

Speaker 5 (08:21):
Hey, this guy's getting a little beside himself.

Speaker 4 (08:24):
We have his own players coming out on podcasts saying
they don't like what he says on podcasts.

Speaker 5 (08:30):
And we know what he's done. He's jumped in other
people's money.

Speaker 4 (08:32):
That's one of the things all athletes tell you, and man,
don't talk about my money.

Speaker 5 (08:36):
That's between me and ownership.

Speaker 4 (08:37):
You don't jump in another man's money and putting opinions
out there on that. He's done that. He's talked about
his own coaching staff. He's questioned them when they lost
in the playoffs of Green Bay, calling them out. I'm
not the one putting me out there, y'all. Man, I'm
a linebacker.

Speaker 5 (08:49):
They too it.

Speaker 4 (08:50):
I don't call the players up when you have all
of these things starting to happen, you have you're supposed
to be the best player in the leader. Now it's
signed to self reflect, right, Okay, so wipe your hands clean.

Speaker 3 (09:01):
I'm going to Green Bay. What do I need to do?

Speaker 4 (09:04):
Because there's two parts, two reasons why our relationship beens.
It ain't just them how do you improve? So to me,
this reset Micah is a great time for Micah to
look in the mirror and say, I got to become
a better leader. There's ways I can get better defensively.
And just because I can doesn't mean I should have
a podcast because I'm hurting my teammates feelings and putting

(09:26):
things out there for fodder that comes back at them.
I'm Dak is all of a sudden getting shots thinking
I'm taking a shot to him because I don't mention
him in the top ten quarterbacks. And now Dak is
sitting there coming out of practice. We should be talking
about what happened on the practice field. I got to
answer questions of these. So you had your fun a
few years of the podcast. You did some good things
with it.

Speaker 5 (09:45):
Great.

Speaker 4 (09:46):
Now it's trying to buckle down, bunker down. And to me,
it's okay for you to reset. It's okay for you
to reassess. It's okay for you to switch up how
you've been doing things. And to me, I look at
this opportunity for Micah as well, because you don't come off.

Speaker 3 (09:59):
This thing scave.

Speaker 4 (10:00):
They're you know, free and spotless and flawless. You've got
some things you need to change.

Speaker 3 (10:05):
So I think what's fascinating is because we all were
looking at this again this trade shout out to Ricky
Smokes or Scoops or whatever his name was on Twitter
a few days ago, but before that, it was before that,
and then Brian Cooton goes kind of not just out
really laughing and said, are you guys are listening to
Twitter trolls? Don't you know? Let's eat Line's app and

(10:27):
kind of giving it like not not not a non answer.
It's like, wait a minute, is this real? So we
all kind of thought that the deal was gonna get
done this entire time. And one of the things that
I've made me feel different about this the whole time
I've been I've been working for people who have been
locked in to every move of Jerry Jones for almost

(10:49):
the last ten years. I've seen, I saw. I've covered
the Zeke negotiations from a far international skill. I'm not
saying I'm in the Star are there every day? But
I covered two DAC everyday news cycle. How are we
getting this done? Covered the Zeke one. The one that
made this different is when you looked at just the

(11:11):
last four to three years of the Cowboys, especially the
last two years of the Cowboys, as Michael Parson's star
began to grow bigger than the one that was just
on his helmet. Right when Michael Parsons was drafted, you
remember he had sat out his COVID year, so he
was kind of and it was like the eleventh picking
the draft or twelfth picking the draft. So people were

(11:33):
high on him as a prospect, but it was kind
of like, oh, does he love football? All the things
that people will say about any draft pick. Then he
comes in and I remember Tej hous Manzada, who's on
this network, told me after two games, Michael Parsons should
never drop back in the coverage again. That boy is
a Hall of fame at Rusher, I was like, oh, TJ,
you've been a little no, no, no, he's he's like that, right,

(11:55):
he's like that, And to that point, Michael Parson since
that point has been like that. But the Cowboys, Jerry
is the one whose name's on front of the check, right,
Jerry signing in front of that thing, not the back.
He's not indorse the check to cash. And Jerry's the
one who's signing the front of it. And you can

(12:15):
deal with a little bit of noise from the man
in charge, right because demand in charge is demand in charge.
But by Wednesday of the Cowboys week, it's about what
Michael Parson's had to say. And a lot of times
Michael Parsons will say, well, Jerry said, we're all in.
Where's the all in? Do you know? Like this type
of situation, there is no Tuesday owner conversation in Green Bay.

(12:43):
Michael Parsons will be the story if he continues this
podcast along the way. I don't see it stopping for
the record. But I also don't see like Michael Parson's ostensibly,
in my opinion, has gotten a bit of a pass
for the things he has said along the way because
Jerry is the foil on the other side of this thing.

(13:04):
It's like if a first, It's like if JJ Reddick
had went on and won a championship in year one,
nobody would have gave him the credit for it because
everybody said, well, he's the Bronz guy, even if JJ
Reddick was instrumental in developing the talent and drawing everything up.
And it's like, you can directly point to why JJ
Reddick did all these things that Darvingham couldn't so on
and so forth, everybody that's Lebrons guy. You know he's

(13:28):
gonna win it anyway. That's kind of how it probably
would sound. That's just not that foil of that other
big personality doesn't exist in Green Bay. Michael Parsons is
the big personality. He is going to be. He's taking
his star to Green Bay, and there's nobody who even
comes close to rivaling when Michael Parsons says something, He's

(13:51):
gonna be the biggest voice in the organization.

Speaker 5 (13:54):
See absolutely.

Speaker 4 (13:55):
And that's why to me, Mark, if he were to
go there doing all that, it could backfire in the
sense of if you're if.

Speaker 3 (14:02):
I allow I don't know. I don't want to cut
you off, but let's just say you say if I
don't think anything about Michael Parsons says he's going to stop,
do you no?

Speaker 5 (14:10):
But there's a massive butt though.

Speaker 4 (14:14):
There's a point in everybody's life where you're offering an
opportunity to say, maybe I can mix it up a
little bit, maybe I do the podcast in a different form.
Nobody's saying don't ever speak about things. But the idea
that you're speaking about your teammates behind their back. Is
kind of crazy. And what I mean is we just
lose a game. You go on your podcast. We shouldn't
have did that. I don't like how I ain't the
one that's different than if he goes to the podcast,

(14:35):
say with me and you and him, and we're talking
about Marvel movies. So nobody's saying you can't do a podcast.
It's in the sense of the way in what you're
doing and can conduct a business.

Speaker 5 (14:44):
You're throwing coaches under the bus.

Speaker 4 (14:46):
Nobody, Like dude, we're supposed to be all in a
bunker hole together, right, me and you, Me and you
were doing a show. Obviously, Me and Rob Parker do
the show. We all we gotta be in his bunker
together and we gotta have some stuff out, all right, Yo,
Let's go do lunch, me you, Robjie, what's up.

Speaker 5 (14:58):
Let's go. But the idea to go.

Speaker 4 (14:59):
On on air, he ain't here in bashed and I
don't like he know that, Like, dude, come on, we're
in this thing.

Speaker 3 (15:05):
Talk to me.

Speaker 4 (15:06):
Let's figure it out, let's grow, let's build report, let's chemistry.
And I'm saying that type of thing, especially in a
town that is close knit in the town that doesn't
have ownership, in the town that's kind of done it
their own way. We're not a big city. We kind
of have our own quirky ways. I think that could
grow very tiresome, at least in Dallas. It's the big Deed,
it's got the other it's got the Mavericks, it's got

(15:27):
other things in the city. It's a lot going on. Dude,
you come here with all that loudness, Well we chill.

Speaker 5 (15:32):
You don't hear nothing.

Speaker 4 (15:32):
You know, Jordan Love he speaks, but he's never really
saying anything crazy, And up until the last little bit,
Aaron Rodgers wasn't say much. I'm just saying that could
be too much, especially for a guy who's new and
doesn't have equity. You're not a draft pick. We haven't
grown with you for seven years. So that's what I'm saying.
It's not that you can't ever talk about things, but dude,
question the teammates and this and why we did that

(15:53):
on it's usually taboo.

Speaker 3 (15:56):
Kelvin, you sure you didn't get equity in that deal.
I don't know. He might have got some equity out
of that deal. The ownership group is a fluid in
Green Bay. He might have gotten a little equity as
much money as they offered him, and he signed for.

Speaker 5 (16:09):
I gotta check the CBA.

Speaker 4 (16:10):
I gotta check the CBA to see if he can
if he can get some ownerships by some other way.

Speaker 5 (16:14):
So maybe put in his mama name or something.

Speaker 3 (16:16):
My last point on this one though, with the with
the Micah thing and the Jerry and the unanimous there
are not many of these stories. However, in the time
that Jerry's been there, there have been times quite famously.
The one that comes to mind first where Johnny Manziel
he said, I want Johnny Manziel and Stephen Jones and
ask anybody to tell the story. Jery tell you himself.

(16:38):
Stephen Jones said, no draft Zach Martin, don't draft Johnny
Manziel and the rest is history. Jack Martin allpro ring
Ofvanner guy, Hall of Fame caliber guy for the Cowboys.
I think that Jerry when he says this was unanimous decision,
I believe them.

Speaker 4 (16:54):
I believe Well, Well, what I just heard you say
was maybe I should listen to Stephen more. That's just
what I heard. I just heard you say. Maybe I
should continue to be the owner, the marketer, the the
you know, the guy who helps prop up the Cowboys.
But maybe I should let Steven just gm. Wouldn't that
be a novel idea?

Speaker 3 (17:12):
According to what we heard yesterday, Stephen was unanimously in
on this.

Speaker 4 (17:16):
So he did well, I'm saying in offense YouTube because
we could have been sitting here talking about Johnny Manziel
then the thirty for thirty with the Cowboys had it
not been for Steven. So Mike want to listen to
his son in this case?

Speaker 3 (17:28):
All right?

Speaker 4 (17:28):
Eight seven seven ninety nine on Fox, you want to
jump in on this? Where do you come out on
the idea that this was unanism's decision? And also my
my point was that this is a chance for Micah
to also better Micah not just a player on the field,
but also the leadership qualities off the field. Eight seven
seven ninety nine on Fox. Will take some calls on that.
Don't forget Nick Harris coming up in a bit as well,

(17:48):
covers the Cowboys for Fort Worth Star Telegram.

Speaker 5 (17:51):
We'll talk to him about this as well. It's the
odd couple.

Speaker 4 (17:53):
Martin's in for Rob kelvin Washington on a fucking flashback Friday,
it is.

Speaker 5 (17:58):
Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 2 (17:59):
Be sure to catch line editions of The Odd Couple
with Rob Parker and Kelvin Washington weekdays at seven pm
Eastern four pm Pacific on Fox Sports Radio and the
iHeartRadio app.

Speaker 7 (18:10):
Hey, we're Covino and Rich Fox Sports Radio every day five.

Speaker 3 (18:14):
To seven pm Eastern. But here's the thing.

Speaker 7 (18:16):
We never have enough time to get to everything we
want to get.

Speaker 8 (18:18):
To, and that's why we have a brand new podcast
called over Promised. You see, we're having so much fun
in our two hour show. We never get to everything, honestly,
because this guy is over promising things we never have
time for. Yeah, you blubber li lame in me.

Speaker 3 (18:33):
Well you know what it's called over promise.

Speaker 7 (18:35):
You should be good at it because you've been over
promising women for years.

Speaker 8 (18:37):
Well, it's a Cavino and Rich after show, and we
want you to be a part of it. We're gonna
be talking sports, of course, but we're also gonna talk
life and relationships. And if Rich and I are arguing
about something or we didn't have enough time, it will
continue on our after show called over Promised.

Speaker 7 (18:51):
Well, if you don't get enough Covino and Rich make
sure you check out over Promised and also uncensored, by
the way, so maybe we'll go at it even a
little harder. It's gonna be the best after show podcast
of all time.

Speaker 8 (19:01):
There you go, over Promising. Remember you could see it
on YouTube, but definitely join us. Listen to over Promised
with Cavino and Rich on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts,
or wherever you get your podcasts.

Speaker 4 (19:14):
Little African Funk here for you, Martin on this funky
flashback Friday shot out to Mary. It is the Eye Couple.
I'm Kelvin Washington. He is Martin Weis's and for Rob.
Rob will be back on Monday. Rob and I will
be back on Monday for the first time and quite
some time. So we're looking forward to seeing we we'll
have cooking up on Monday. Ach knee stepped back joints

(19:36):
not cooperating. Some days your body is just like nah.
And on those days, luckily there's a lead with just
one peel Lee provides up to twelve hours of pain
relief so.

Speaker 5 (19:44):
You can keep moving.

Speaker 4 (19:45):
Please use as directed. We're gonna get to Nick Harris
here in just a little bit.

Speaker 3 (19:51):
All right, Calvin, you want to sneak in this one
call real quick from Drew in New Jersey. Before we
get Drew in New Jersey. Let's do it. What's up?

Speaker 8 (19:59):
Drew?

Speaker 5 (19:59):
Your old the a couple of Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 9 (20:02):
Hey, guys, I think this was a universal decision, and
I think this was a great decision. I think if
you look at this long term, you can get out
of the Dak Prescott business, and they already rebuilt their
own line. With those additional ticks, you can get actually
an elite quarterback like I told you guys yesterday and

(20:22):
sold on that dude from from South Carolina, Leonora Sellers
because he can do everything and he's that superman. Trade
and you can probably get a.

Speaker 3 (20:30):
First or you.

Speaker 9 (20:33):
Yep, you can get you could probably get a like
if you if you traded Dak Prescott to the Jets
or the Colts, you could probably get a draft pick
two and get out of that contract. And you have
the best goal is you have wait.

Speaker 4 (20:46):
Wait wait wait wait wait wait Drew, so I got
to take on his sixty million Hold up, Josh Allen.

Speaker 9 (20:55):
Need to win games. They need to win games.

Speaker 4 (20:57):
So you you think Dak is the They couldn't win
with Aaron Rodgers. They probably ain't winning nothing with Justin Fields,
but they gonna win with that.

Speaker 9 (21:06):
I think either the Colts or the Jets are gonna
trade for him, and I think they'd give up a
second round pick for him, all right, and the Cowboys,
and he's as draft capital, so you get even more
still a position, or you can move up in the
draft even more, depending on how that quarterback draft is.

Speaker 4 (21:20):
Listen to Colt for an organization. I'm with you, a Drew,
thank for the call. I'm not They've had some chances,
they've had some progress over the last time for the years.
So but the Jets, man, I don't know, that's just
a whole nother circus set of circumstances.

Speaker 3 (21:31):
Do all right, Kelvin, just quickly, Dak Prescott ain't going nowhere,
Dak Press guy's got the biggest cat hit in the
NFL and a no trade clause. He ain't going That's
why I know where.

Speaker 4 (21:41):
And then I don't know if he's just your savior
all of a sudden, comean if you made a bunch
of progress, you had a really good team, and you
felt like, I we just need a game manager away
all right? Maybe, but I don't think that just comes
to save the day. It's talking about Superman a moment ago.
All right, Nick Harris on the way right now, Mancy
Belano is gonna get your set one shrending.

Speaker 10 (22:47):
Yeah, I appreciate you, fellows. How are we all?

Speaker 5 (22:48):
No doubt?

Speaker 3 (22:49):
Man, we're good.

Speaker 4 (22:50):
Obviously we're talking about everything that everyone is talking about
with this trade that just occurred. So we're hearing now
that it's it was a unanimous decision with you got
some of the star players, you got the coach, you've
got Jerry Jones, You've got everyone involved saying, guests, just
pull the plug on this, on this Micah thing. Let
me ask you, would this have been unanimous two weeks ago,

(23:14):
three weeks ago, if Jerry isn't kind of taking some
public shots to Mike and his agent and then Micah
has to respond and scrubbing his social media two weeks ago,
could this have somehow still worked it sof out if
it didn't get so personal.

Speaker 11 (23:27):
Yeah, I think so, because I don't really feel like
the final nail in the coffin was had until earlier
this week.

Speaker 3 (23:33):
You know.

Speaker 11 (23:34):
I think with the threat of potentially holding out from
Week one against the Philadelphia Eagles made this more of
a possibility, and Michael was doing a couple of.

Speaker 10 (23:43):
Things to try to angle for that.

Speaker 11 (23:45):
He was looking for a second opinion on his back
tightness that he said he's.

Speaker 10 (23:49):
Been dealing with throughout camp.

Speaker 11 (23:50):
He had already been medically cleared by the team, but
he was going to seek a second opinion on the
back from another doctor, you know, had a second doctor
that he was able to find, say he couldn't play,
still would have gotten paid without playing in Week one.
And then also he was filing agreements against a six
year option.

Speaker 10 (24:06):
There was just a lot of things going on.

Speaker 11 (24:08):
I think it eventually got too much for the Cowboys
and they looked up realized that today here on Friday,
they were starting practice in preparation for Week one against
the Eagles. They wanted this situation figured out before today.
And that's eventually why this deal got done yesterday. It
was always going to happen yesterday, whether it was an
extension or a trade. They go with the ladder and
this is a new reality.

Speaker 3 (24:28):
We're looking at Nick Martin wise here and for Rob
Parker on the couple. Nick Harris covers Cowboys for the
Fort Worth Star Telegram on with this, So would you
say so not to I answer the same exact question,
but like it seemed to be that Jerry Jones wanted
Michael Parsons to be a Cowboy up until like Monday

(24:49):
of this week. It seemed to me that Michael Parsons
wanted to be a Cowboy up until Monday this week.
And I know Jerry has said it at every step
of the way. The agency, the agent, the agent. Is
it just the agent as the reason why this is
not done.

Speaker 10 (25:06):
It's a big part of it.

Speaker 11 (25:08):
But also I think it's important to put the context
of Jerry Jones and Michaeh Parson's relationship into all of this,
because Jerry Jones said it, Michael Parsons is one of
only three players that he's had.

Speaker 10 (25:18):
In his thirty years as owner of.

Speaker 11 (25:20):
The Cowboys that have ever had his personal cell number,
and he said he would hit me up frequently and
we would talk and we would just hang out. In fact,
they hung out after the Cotton Bow at ATMT Stadium
back in January, and I was actually disappointed coming out
of that because I thought they were going to talk
contract stuff, and they didn't talk about anything meaningful that night.

Speaker 10 (25:35):
They were just hanging out.

Speaker 11 (25:36):
And so I think the relationship that those two had,
it was genuine, it was close. And so the turning
point of this entire situation was that meeting on March
eighteenth at The Star in Frisco. Jerry Jones called him
in to talk about leadership and the conversation evolved into
a contract negotiations.

Speaker 10 (25:54):
Both sides dispute.

Speaker 11 (25:55):
Who actually brought up contract stuff first, but both sides
have said that they engaged in contract negotiations. They agreed
in principle on parameters of a contract.

Speaker 10 (26:05):
They went home.

Speaker 11 (26:05):
Michael Parsons called Stephen Jones the next day and said, hey,
you know, I feel pretty good about this. Let's get
the agent and involved and get this across the finish line.
That's where Jerry Jones had the problem. He said, why
am I going to get the agent involved? We already
agree on something. The agent is only going to negotiate. Further,
I'm not trying to deal with that headache. So there
was stubbornness on both sides. I think here on Jerry's

(26:26):
side not to just go ahead and reach out to
David Mullagetta on Micah side to actually engage in those
contract negotiations. But I think when you put in the
context of their relationship, it's important because Jerry felt manipulated
and disrespected by the end of it, and when he
feels disrespected by somebody he once considered close. It doesn't
matter who you are. We just got done watching the

(26:48):
Jerry documentary on Netflix.

Speaker 10 (26:51):
Now with Jimmy Johnson.

Speaker 11 (26:52):
That was someone he considered a close friend and we
saw how that ended. I see it kind of a
similar I think there's similar parallels here.

Speaker 10 (26:59):
That you can draw.

Speaker 3 (27:00):
So, Nick, you just said Jerry felt disrespected, and last
week he was on Michael Irvings YouTube. I don't know
he's done something that click Clippy's out here. How true
to the truth. I'm not saying Jerry's lying about it,
but how true is it that you, in your opinion,
that Mulagata said you could take the contract and basically

(27:21):
shove it up your egg.

Speaker 11 (27:23):
Yeah, that's not entirely true at all. I think it
was more so a figureous speech from Jerry's side of things.
I think when you talk to Micah's side of things,
and again this is it's tough because there's not corroborated comments.
There's not a whole lot of them in this dispute.
But when you do talk to Micah's side, it was
said that you know, there was no communication had between
the front office that David Mullagetta but then you talked

(27:45):
to the front office. It's like, no, we reached out
to David. He was trying to wait on Trey Hendrickson's
deal to get done or k J. Watts deal to
get done, and so it's it's kind of he said,
she said, type of situation, and I think the games
and the manipulation it eventually got too much for both sides.
One of you had mentioned that, you know, it felt
like Micah didn't want to be a cowboy up until Monday.
I think MICA's trade requests back on August first, that

(28:07):
was genuine. There was genuine hurt that was felt on
Micah's side, and that he did not want to be
in Dallas anymore. He realized Jerry had the power of
calling his bluff. He knew what a return would look
like for the franchise, but I think it became more
of a reality probably on Monday.

Speaker 10 (28:22):
And then I certainly.

Speaker 11 (28:23):
Would say from the team perspective, I think they fully
expected to have an extension deal done with him, and
then when some of these issues really started to pile
up this week, they looked at some of these offers
on the table and said, you know what, let's take
the best one and let's get this over with.

Speaker 3 (28:36):
Well stay there for me again.

Speaker 4 (28:37):
Nick Harris is our guest right now, covers the Cowboys
for the fourth Worth Star Telegram. Martin and I have
talked about this to me, Okay, fine, you want to
trade him? Okay, you want to resign? There so many
other options they had. This could not possibly be the
biggest haul they could have gotten for a guy who's
an All pro in less, no less than twelve sacks
every year since he's coming to the league. He's only

(28:58):
twenty six, Like, why do but now, I mean, obviously
they felt forced to, but they could have gotten some
bigger had they opened up the micro sweet Steaks a
few months back before the draft.

Speaker 11 (29:08):
Right yeah, I would say so, especially if you push
this back to March, and you know they're not working
on such a time crunch. But there were multiple offers
on the table for Michael Parsons. They were in contact
with at least five teams regarding a potential Parsons deal.
Whenever he put out the trade requests, that really kind
of opened the market up of.

Speaker 10 (29:26):
The possibility of this.

Speaker 11 (29:27):
The Packers just had happened to be the one that
were as aggressive as they were, and they were also
willing to pay what Parsons and mulligedto were asking for.
I think from a return standpoint, a big part of
this negotiation was the sense that Okay, from the Packers standpoint,
they're like, look, we're taking on forty seven million dollars
per year for the next five years. That is part

(29:48):
of the trade as well, because we are going to
be hamstrung when it comes to our.

Speaker 10 (29:51):
Available gap space.

Speaker 11 (29:52):
And then on the flip side of the Cowboys all
of a sudden had the second most cap room in
the entire NFL this year. They could easily do make
a move as early today if they needed to. So
I think when you talk about the return, I think
it's still to be determined. But going out the Cowboys
handle available gap space, I can't say there's much optimism
and how they'll deal with it.

Speaker 3 (30:12):
And now this may be a I don't know how
this exactly lands, So just bear with me here. Jerry
talked about stopping the run a million times, right to
the point you even kind of had like what seemed
to be a Slyde remark about me, is like, what
are you gonna do against the Packers? Well, Jerry said, well,
hopefully we get ahead and we can run the ball,

(30:32):
implying we just took their best run stopper and traded
with them with Michael Parsons who didn't stop the run
for us when we were there, And I kept thinking, like,
last year, you can wash that away to injuries. If
Dak Prescott's been healthy. This team has been a double
digit win team or just about and a maybe not
top fringe contender in the NFC, but a team that

(30:53):
people expect to win at least a playoff game or
two with a healthy Dak Prescott. And the year that
that feel like they really gave it away was against
this Packers team when Aaron Jones ran for a billion
yards down in Jerry world, how much is that moment?
Like I can't get out of my head thinking about
that playoff game here and Jerry say stopped to run

(31:13):
a million times and then the fact he just traded
Micah to the Packers. Is there any level of connection
in that? Because people are like, how would you? Why
is why would you try to move a team you
have to go against And he's like, well, maybe Jerry
thought if we could stop the run against them, we
would have beat him two years ago.

Speaker 11 (31:28):
Yeah, and I see the thought process there, and that
had to be part of the thought process and dealing
him to the Green Bay Packers.

Speaker 10 (31:33):
I mean, it wasn't just twenty twenty three.

Speaker 11 (31:35):
You go back to twenty fourteen, twenty sixteen, those three teams.
You put that in the totality of the last fifteen years,
there's a good argument that those are three of the
best teams that the Cowboys have had here in this century.
So it's and the Packers knocked out those teams every
single time. So there had to be some sort of
thought process and being hey, you know, we're gonna have
to run into this guy in the playoffs.

Speaker 10 (31:55):
We're going to have to do that. How can we
get around it?

Speaker 11 (31:58):
And I think there's probably some good thought process to
be had there saying, hey, at least we can stop
the run this time around. You know, they have more
than capable running back in Josh Jacobs. That is, you know,
a weapon you have to plan for. I'm sure it
was part of that thought process.

Speaker 4 (32:11):
They're gonna have to see him again here week four,
so it'll be interesting to see how this all works out.
It'll be fun, that's what makes NFL great. Hey Nick Man,
we appreciate your time. Brother, have a great weekend.

Speaker 10 (32:20):
Yeah, thanks for thanks to Let me hop.

Speaker 4 (32:21):
On no doubt appreciate it all right on the way,
we got the tie reck play of the day and
can Justin Fields do what a couple of other quarterbacks
have done recently?

Speaker 5 (32:31):
Will tell you what we're talking about.

Speaker 4 (32:32):
It is the Odd Cup on Kelvin Washington, Martin Weiss
and for Rob on a funcky flashback Friday.

Speaker 5 (32:37):
Stick with you boys, Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 2 (32:39):

Speaker 3 (32:51):
Oh Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 4 (32:56):
Hey, a couple Kelvin Washington, Martin White was there for
Rob on this funky flash back Friday. Feeling good? Hey
real quick? Rob, g let me ask you something. And Martin,
I don't you could be in this as well. I
feel like Mary, I feel like you have Mancy, I
feel like you probably have to. Have you all watched

(33:18):
this the K Pop Demon Slayer.

Speaker 3 (33:21):
There, I have not heard about it? H swimming for me?

Speaker 5 (33:25):
Yeah, well I've heard it from I'm talking about.

Speaker 3 (33:27):
Like, yeah, the parents have watched it.

Speaker 4 (33:28):
Man, I'm talking about exactly I was gonna say, I'm
talking men and like robb Gi. So everybody's been asking
about it. Obviously, we did a whole big thing on
the news show, you know, the host anchor the morning news.
We did a big thing, and everyone's like, I know
your daughters have had to have seen him, Like, oh,
not yet, And I said, it's one of those movies.
Do I need to see it first before I let
my daughter see it? Blah blah blah blah blah whole thing.

(33:49):
So for the last few weeks, everybody's like, oh, I
have to keep asking me. Well, they come in the
house and we're like oh, like oh, I've.

Speaker 5 (33:56):
Actually wanted to maybe watch it.

Speaker 4 (33:57):
Good to you know, me and my wife and the
family as a family, to make sure everything is close
and everything.

Speaker 5 (34:01):
Why did I just find out they see it in

Speaker 3 (34:04):
Damn?

Speaker 4 (34:05):
Like I feel violated that I just found out my
daughters that scene. They're like, oh, that's old news.

Speaker 12 (34:09):
It sounds like a household is not in order right now.

Speaker 4 (34:12):
It's about to be some smoke was yeah, and they
love it. But I'm trying to figure out how Robber
you know this. When kids have seen something, generally they
watch it like Frozen twenty times over. So I'm like,
how have you guys got asked to watch it again?
And I think subconsciously they know we watched this without

(34:32):
daddy and mommy, and I think they know.

Speaker 5 (34:34):
So it's gonna be some smoke here in just a minute.

Speaker 12 (34:36):
But it was good, Robgi, You're gonna like it a
lot more than you think you should like it.

Speaker 5 (34:40):
I know it's I mean, I had dude like, I mean,
dudes with like gunshot wounds. Tell me like, yo, man,
I ain't gonna lie. It was good.

Speaker 12 (34:47):
This is K pop popper. I don't know how they
met the two together, but yes, all the same the
top just name. It reminds me of Abraham Lincoln Vampire Hunter,
which was also quietly good.

Speaker 5 (35:01):
So so, Martin, this is on Pace.

Speaker 4 (35:04):
If it's not already to be the most watched thing
ever on Netflix ever, what you guys have really big?

Speaker 3 (35:11):
Like what do you mean?

Speaker 5 (35:11):
Remember? I know you can't even start to google that.

Speaker 12 (35:14):
The key to things like that when it involves music
is the songs have to be good for it to
really work, and the songs are incredible.

Speaker 3 (35:21):
BTS does the soundtrack right? Do they? I think they do.
I think the songs there are, all three of them
are top ten. Actually yeah, I think because I never
anchored the morning news, but I used to watch it
every single morning because it was the only thing on. Yes,
it's all over face like really bad.

Speaker 5 (35:43):
I like how you said, Had.

Speaker 4 (35:44):
I'm sure you still do all right it is, I know,
I love the HAD didn't sound convincing, I knew you did.
It is time now for your tire rect Player of
the day.

Speaker 13 (35:53):
Hand off up the middle, Norton again, poor tackling, and
Norton's into the end zone for the score, an eight
yard run and it's now thirty to seven in favor
of USF.

Speaker 4 (36:04):
Beerfield Radio right there on the call. And that is
your Tirereck Play of the Day, which was brought to
you by, of course, Tirerack. For over forty years, tire
Reck has been helping customers find the right tires for how,
what and where they drive shit fast and free back

like mobile tire installation tirerack dot Com. The way tire

(36:26):
buying should be. Since we only have a couple of
minutes here before we gotta break again. I'm gonna ask
you all this, is there anything that you felt kind
of like the pressure everybody's swearing by something you weren't
gonna get into it, and you jumped into it, and
you're like, Okay, I can't lie.

Speaker 3 (36:43):
That was dope. Whatever it is, it could be.

Speaker 4 (36:45):
It could be a it could be a movie, it
could be a song, it could be a whatever. That
just that thing everybody's go, no, you gotta see this,
you gotta try this. Whatever is anything that jumps out
where you just were like, all right, I'm gonna give
it a shot.

Speaker 5 (36:56):
I wasn't going to uh.

Speaker 3 (36:58):
Game of Thrones immediately comes to example. Great example is
I was not into things with dragons and as it
just as a general construct. And then by you know,
by the end, I was like, how dare you put
that Starbucks cup there?

Speaker 5 (37:11):
What's wrong with you people?

Speaker 2 (37:13):
Man?

Speaker 3 (37:13):
I cannot get into Game of Thrones. Wow.

Speaker 4 (37:18):
I've never seen it, Monci, but I have a feeling
had I watched, I would have gotten in like everybody else.

Speaker 9 (37:24):
You know what.

Speaker 4 (37:25):
For me, I was very late to power and I
was like, I want to see that looks ridiculous.

Speaker 5 (37:31):
Power anybody think about that?

Speaker 3 (37:33):
It's so man.

Speaker 4 (37:33):
I jumped into Power and now I don't know about
the twenty six edition and iterations of it, but the
original Power with ghosts you had me Kelvin.

Speaker 3 (37:42):
I think you can watch one of those shows. If
you watch one, you can do it unironically and still
enjoyed and laugh at the parts that are kind of like,
that's ridiculous. If you watch multiple that's like a that's
a character trait.

Speaker 5 (37:55):
What do you mean multiple?

Speaker 3 (37:56):
Are you say multi shows? Well, no, no, if you watch
like Power Book one and Power three and Raising Kanet, gotcha, guys,
like that's just what you do.

Speaker 4 (38:06):
And then to your point to add to it, then
that means I don't want to take recommendations from you anymore, right, Like, hey,
what you're watching?

Speaker 3 (38:12):
Because the original Power I'm listening.

Speaker 4 (38:14):
I thought it was gonna be You're like, it's gonna
be like they did a great job with the legal
end of it, like the actual courts and the drama
part of the trying to lock him up end of it,
so it wasn't just street stuff. It was actually like
all of it that made him good. Then they got
carried away at about season five, so that was one
I was ignoring, like, man, whatever, y'all are hyping this up,
fifty cent whatever, and got in.

Speaker 5 (38:34):
It was pretty good. I can't do all the rest
of them. I got another one.

Speaker 3 (38:37):
Here's one.

Speaker 12 (38:37):
I thought the premise was stupid, so that's why I
didn't want to watch it. No matter what people said.
Sinners was incredible, but the idea of a western or
looked like a western, southern, southern early nineteen twenties vampire
movie around music.

Speaker 3 (38:51):
I was like, that looks stupid.

Speaker 5 (38:52):
Great, that's because you tapped out on your black card.

Speaker 3 (38:54):
That's because you know I won forever. Honestly, after watching
the movie, I thought it was a really good movie.
But if you just gave me the elevator log line,
I'd be like, I'm not sure. Yeah, And who's the
start of this one?

Speaker 10 (39:07):
Right?

Speaker 3 (39:08):
Oh? Michael B. Jordan twice yoh? Miss that. I wasn't
a big Michael B. Jordan fan, but after that movie.

Speaker 4 (39:14):
Yeah, actually that's one of the better to meet him acting.
I was actually very impressed with his acting. I walked
away from the movie going that was a good movie.
But y'all did put a little extra sauce on it,
