Rob and Kelvin tell us why it’s clear that the New York Knicks botched this head coaching hire by settling on journeyman coach Mike Brown, explain what they liked – and didn’t like – about Sophie Cunningham’s comments regarding WNBA expansion, and take a trip out to Shekel City for Rob’s nightly bets. Plus, NBA champion and FOX Sports Radio NBA analyst Eddie House swings by to discuss the Brown hiring, why the Lillard-Giannis pairing never really worked out in Milwaukee, who he believes are the favorites in the suddenly wide-open Eastern Conference next season, and

Speaker 2 (03:08):
So a lot of stuff to get to Kelvin. We
could just kick it off the news of the day.
You want to introduce it the news of the day.

Speaker 5 (03:19):
Well, yeah, the news of the day would be that
the New York Knickerbockers went ahead and finally got a
coach after all this time. And that coach would be
one none other than Mike Brown. He is now the
head coach for the next And uh, this is, you know,
coming after some weeks of trying to find one, which
was interesting when they let Tims go.

Speaker 7 (03:38):
Who would it be?

Speaker 5 (03:39):
There are some bigger names out there you thought that
would be in consideration that weren't. And then we know
Rob also that they had had a list of a
handful of people that some never.

Speaker 7 (03:49):
Even were able to get interviews, some were able to.

Speaker 2 (03:51):
Get already had jobs, you know what I mean?

Speaker 1 (03:53):
Like, yeah, a team likeel like you're looking to talk
to No, No, he's under contract.

Speaker 5 (03:58):
You can't be calling him. Hey, hello, Rockets, is email available?

Speaker 3 (04:02):
Right?

Speaker 2 (04:04):
Jason kidd? I know you got a new contract with
the and.

Speaker 7 (04:07):
A number one draft pick coming up?

Speaker 5 (04:09):
Yeah, exactly, Like, yeah, so they had a crazy Yeah,
they had a few. Quinn Snyder would be another one,
Taylor Jenkins, a lot of a halful of people who
had some They did have some meetings and took some interviews,
but at the end of the day, Mike Brown got
the the opportunity. So yeah, so there you have it.
They got their guy do they believe will lead them
to the future.

Speaker 7 (04:29):
What say you?

Speaker 1 (04:31):
Okay, if I'm a New York Knicks fan today, I
am melancholy.

Speaker 2 (04:38):
I am a Debbie Downer.

Speaker 1 (04:41):
I am distraught because Mike Brown really the Knicks. You know,
Mike Brown's been around, what is this his fifth start?
It's gonna be like his fifth fifth team, I should say.
I know he did the Cavs twice, but this will
be like his fifth time being a head coach, and
very they seldom Kelvin Washington, does a coach win a

(05:04):
championship after making that many stops?

Speaker 2 (05:06):
Okay, it just normally doesn't happen that way.

Speaker 1 (05:10):
I can think of one guy it's happened too, and
that's about it, off the top of my head, who
made numerous stops and won later on in his career.
So the Knicks wanted Larry Brown, but I think they
got closer to Charlie Brown by hiring Mike Brown. I mean,
Larry Brown did it. Larry Brown won the Pistons with

(05:32):
the championship with the Pistons later after being with a
lot of teams.

Speaker 2 (05:36):
But he ain't Larry Brown.

Speaker 1 (05:37):
Larry Brown also won a championship in college. Larry Brown's
the only coach who won in the NBA and in
college basketball. So you're talking about a select group. Mike
Brown hasn't won anything zero zip na. And they thought
they had something going and Sacramento couldn't win the big game, right.
There were a couple of times where you thought the

(05:59):
King's gonna They're gonna beat up Warriors and move on.
No way, no how, I don't know how you get excited.
To me, it feels like the Knicks went to kick
the football and they got it pulled from them. They
missed it.

Speaker 7 (06:16):
YEP.

Speaker 2 (06:16):
I mean, I'm all for getting rid of TIBs.

Speaker 1 (06:19):
I told you that that after they lost the first
two games in the Eastern Conference Finals at home, including
that debacle in Game one fourteen points with two thirty
eight to go, I have no issue with them being fired,
but to hire another guy who's been around for a while,
had these teams, never really has won anything.

Speaker 2 (06:39):
Coached you know, in Cleveland and coached for the Lakers
and all that.

Speaker 1 (06:45):
When the Lakers think he got fired in the second year,
right after five or six games.

Speaker 2 (06:49):
You remember that disaster.

Speaker 1 (06:51):
So my point is, if you're Nick Nation or whatever
you want to call themselves, Nick faithful or whatever, my god,
is that all they came away with Mike Brown.

Speaker 2 (07:04):
I'm sorry, I'm not with it.

Speaker 5 (07:06):
Look, if they're Nick faithful, if they're Nick faithful, they
out here about to be Nick looking at other things
right now, Nick cheating, They ain't about to be faithful
right now.

Speaker 1 (07:15):
Rob.

Speaker 5 (07:15):
This is a couple of things. So you touched on
something I want to go back to. I'm not gonna
act like Tom Thibodeau was Phil Jackson. I said that
during in real time you and now my thing was
all right, then if you have to have in my opinion,
of playing, if we're letting it go a guy who's
had the most success there in twenty two years, he
has now surpassed Pat Riley for the most wins, fourth

(07:37):
most wins in NICK history. He had eleven playoff wins.
He had four appearances in five seasons. So you had
a guy who was creating something, who had gotten you
all the way to game and a half away from
the finals. So to me, okay, you're letting them go
to get and this was my concern.

Speaker 7 (07:55):
This was my issue.

Speaker 5 (07:56):
And they went from you know, going to New York
going as it's some huge Broadway plays to going to
see a community center play. Now you got Mike Brown,
who's some of the highlights on his career.

Speaker 7 (08:07):
He got Coach of the Year in two thousand and nine.

Speaker 5 (08:09):
Pretty easy to get a Coach of the Year or
at least be a candidate when you got that era of.

Speaker 7 (08:13):
Lebron James right.

Speaker 5 (08:15):
Then you go to the Warriors for a few when
Kirk Steve kerb is going through some things. You coach
there for a little bit, so you get some wins
with them. But after that, to me, it's been underachieving.
You underachieved with the Lakers. You had that same team
that came back from an NBA Finals appearance, NBA Championship,
and you underachieved with them. Then the next year, as
you mentioned, you only coach five games. You underachieved the

(08:36):
Sacramento with some really good two all NBA guys and
Ta Bonus and the Aaron Fox and some other players
quality players as well. When they got around was at
the two seed you lost in the playoffs.

Speaker 7 (08:48):
So to me, you went and got a guy.

Speaker 5 (08:50):
That's one of those well who always get a good job.
Everybody seems to like him, seems to be a nice guy.
And I'm not even saying he's not a solid coach.
There's thirty jobs. Somebody has to have a job. But
for a Nick team that had a chance to get
back in the Eastern Conference at finals and maybe get
to the finals because the East is wide open, this

(09:11):
to me did not womy.

Speaker 7 (09:12):
This did not move the needle.

Speaker 5 (09:13):
And if as you mentioned, as a Knick fan, I
would be like wait what, and I would actually be upset.
And this goes back to James Dolan mentioning we just
do weird things himself. Sometimes we overreact, sometimes we chase
the shining thing. And to me, he did it again
by overreacting, chasing the shining thing and getting rid of
somebody who again, fine, fine, then you have to have

(09:34):
a better plan and contingency plan. And I didn't see that,
And this is why the Knicks be nicking. This is
why the Knicks be nicking and ruin up situation.

Speaker 1 (09:42):
The one thing I hear you, I'm aa disagree though.
I'm sorry with the tibbs. You know, you say you
got wins. Pat Rodley took the Knicks to the finals
like this, you know, like so so he can have
more wins than Pat Roley and all.

Speaker 2 (09:54):
This other stuff.

Speaker 7 (09:55):
But Rob.

Speaker 1 (09:57):
After they No, I'm just saying I don't have any
issue once they lost that series, and I'm just saying
they all had expectations after they beat Celtics that they
were going to the finals. And then you lose Game
one in that fashion and then you being a coach, hey,
you can shake off one game, right, It's only one game.
They lost Game two at home and that was the series.

(10:20):
So I don't have an issue with them firing them.
What I do is I have an issue with going
out to get a coach who has a track record
of not winning. That that's the issue I have. And
I think that's where you got to look at it
and go and I get it. There aren't a million
coaches with a championship trophy in their back pocket.

Speaker 2 (10:37):
And I talked about.

Speaker 1 (10:38):
Michael Malone and I guess they had some bad blood
or something before, so they you know, I guess they
held that against them, and which is fine if they
wanted to do that, but I would have to And
once they talked to the players and the exit interviews,
and they felt like Tims had to go because that's
what this was.

Speaker 2 (10:56):
This wasn't a plan.

Speaker 1 (10:58):
They just signed a guy in the offseason to a
new extension, so this was not the plan.

Speaker 2 (11:04):
They thought they had their guy.

Speaker 1 (11:06):
You gotta remember their president and GM used to be
was his agent, you know what I mean, like they
have a relationship. They didn't do this just just because
they were scheming to do this all along. This thing happened,
they didn't get to the finals, and then they talked
to the players on the way out who weren't feeling
tips enough to make them say, you know what, let's

(11:27):
give them another shot at this. So I don't have
the issue with the firing. I just think there were
other people or take a chance. I'd even take a
chance on somebody who you really believe might have that
it thing and might be the new hotness, rather than
a retread who hasn't been able to get over the hump.

Speaker 2 (11:46):
You're gonna look back at this.

Speaker 1 (11:47):
There are people in New York, you know, hoping and wishing,
going maybe this is like when the Yankees hired Joe
Tory and everybody was down on Joe Tory. The headline
in the Daily News in New York when Joe Tory
got hired for the Yankee Kees was clueless Joe, and
he went on to win five World Series, right, well
for four or five World.

Speaker 2 (12:07):
Series with the Yankees.

Speaker 1 (12:08):
Four uh so, so people are hoping that it's that,
you know, like it wasn't a popular higher.

Speaker 2 (12:14):
But he also had Derek Jeter and Marian.

Speaker 5 (12:19):
Right come in, good man, Andy Pettitt. I mean they
had that group was special. There's you that was a
special group. They had five guys that came up to you.

Speaker 1 (12:29):
Joge Posada, I'm one hundred percent So Joe, you want
to get them all the flowers, that's fine. But but
the group that he had that was developed in the
Yankees minor league system was different. This Nick team was
ready to win last year. They made all the moves,
all the picks from Michael Bridges, they made the trade
for Cat Kelvin.

Speaker 2 (12:48):
This was supposed to be it, and it didn't happen.

Speaker 5 (12:51):
And my my only thing we were not. I'm not
overly mad at the firing it since again I don't
think he is the greatest coach of all time.

Speaker 7 (12:59):
You let him go. My issue, I've told you was
what was the plan?

Speaker 5 (13:02):
But also I'll say this, this is where we will
absolutely fundamentally disagree.

Speaker 7 (13:07):
I the firing would.

Speaker 5 (13:09):
Suggest that maybe all of a sudden, they're like, oh
I lean more to Maybe there were some players issue
Karl Anthony Towns who also had the same agent, maybe
upset he didn't get some crucial minutes in the game
the game. I can understand that, But to me, I
don't like the firing when it comes to saying the expectations. Dude,
nobody thought the Knicks were getting to the Finals before
the season and even during the playoffs. I get what

(13:30):
you're saying, they beat the Celtics, now you have to
go to But what I'm saying against Chang you got
to a game six against a eventual really good team
and his pacers.

Speaker 7 (13:39):
Maybe we all undermess edit them all year. That to
me doesn't signal firing Cruse.

Speaker 2 (13:46):
I agree with you on that. I agree that you
could lose to the patient.

Speaker 1 (13:50):
But you can't give up a fourteen point lead at
home with two thirty eight. That is the If you
don't get fired off of that Kelvin, you'll never get
there could be no reason to fire you. And that
is that is an all time choke job. Would you
agree with that day told? I mean, yeah, I mean
it was one and whatever, but you know, I told
you I think it was more of a pacer.

Speaker 5 (14:09):
That's a story for another day, but I just it's
gonna be what They had one playoff win series in
twenty two years. I believe it was the Knicks prior
to him, and to me, they should have another because
they're the East is wide open. But don't put yourself
back in a situation where you're no longer relevant.

Speaker 7 (14:28):
We all enjoy the Knicks being relevant. It's good for
the NBA.

Speaker 5 (14:30):
And so I just didn't like the hire of Mike
Brown for this situation. Not that Mike Brown couldn't be
the Hornets or the Jazz or some other coach, but
specifically for a Nick team that realistically has championship aspirations.

Speaker 7 (14:43):
I didn't like to hire.

Speaker 1 (14:45):

Mike Brown closer to Larry Brown or Charlie Brown. Let's
try call in Alabama. You're on the odd couple of
Fox Sports Radio on this worship Wednesday. What's up call?

Speaker 9 (16:56):
Hey guys, thank you taking my call. Good talk to
you guys again. Shout out out there about. Hope y'all
have a good upcoming forth coming.

Speaker 2 (17:02):
Up YouTube buddy, Thank you, sir.

Speaker 7 (17:05):
Yes, sir. Yeah.

Speaker 9 (17:07):
To me, Mike Brown is the exact same coach as
Doc Rivers. When you can't find another coach and you
don't know what else to do, just hire Doc Rivers
or just hire Mike Brown. It's like the knee jerk
reaction if they had just come right out and hired
him and say no, we want him because of this.
To that, okay, but they went through all. They brought
in Don Staley and line Us, whe Schroeder, who else.

Speaker 2 (17:36):
Even Snoopy interview for the job.

Speaker 7 (17:39):
I'm just saying, that's funny.

Speaker 1 (17:41):
Woa woah wah woah woah wah, whoa wah woah woah wah.

Speaker 7 (17:44):
That was the interview. That was the interview. That's wh
whoa whoa, whoa w whoa whah woh. You know what.

Speaker 5 (17:49):
I appreciate the call and I joked about it too.
Mike Woodson is that same type of guy.

Speaker 2 (17:55):
Bring That's what Mike Brown heard when he was being interviewed,
right I was.

Speaker 7 (18:06):
He just did I get the job?

Speaker 2 (18:08):
So I get the job?

Speaker 1 (18:14):
How about Mike in Texas? You're in the couple of
Fox Sports Radio. What's up, Mike?

Speaker 7 (18:19):
How are you?

Speaker 5 (18:20):
Hey?

Speaker 9 (18:20):
What's up?

Speaker 6 (18:20):
Fellows? I'm doing great?

Speaker 9 (18:21):
How are y'all doing?

Speaker 7 (18:22):
Doing awesome?

Speaker 6 (18:24):
Yeah, I couldn't believe it either. Man.

Speaker 9 (18:26):
They should have made a big splash.

Speaker 6 (18:27):
They could have.

Speaker 9 (18:28):
I I guess Mike Malone he didn't want to coach anymore.

Speaker 7 (18:30):
I would.

Speaker 9 (18:31):
I would have been the first George.

Speaker 2 (18:32):
They got some bad blood.

Speaker 1 (18:33):
I'm with you, Mike Malone to me, I just if
I'm going to go out and go ahead, Mike, finish
your point.

Speaker 6 (18:40):
Yeah.

Speaker 9 (18:40):
And and what about Mark Jackson.

Speaker 6 (18:42):
He's just been black bowed to death on this.

Speaker 9 (18:44):
He just rough him completely off.

Speaker 2 (18:45):
He has as as it comes to coaching. I mean,
it's it's obvious.

Speaker 1 (18:49):
I mean, uh, somehow it didn't stop him from broadcasting
the league, but amongst owners, it just seemed like.

Speaker 2 (18:57):
I don't have any proof, but but it looks like
a black ball to me.

Speaker 7 (19:00):
That's what.

Speaker 3 (19:01):
Yeah.

Speaker 5 (19:01):
I think there's some job I think, Yeah, I think
there's some behind the scenes and maybe some ideologies that
they that he may have that they don't align with.

Speaker 7 (19:10):
That may be something something new.

Speaker 2 (19:12):
Well, But there's some other issues too. When he was there.

Speaker 1 (19:14):
I know that there was some stuff that went on
with the Warriors, but the word must have got out,
you know.

Speaker 5 (19:20):
That's what I'm saying, is that that they know, like
I said, some ideologies that might not fly with some
other people in this league.

Speaker 7 (19:26):
So thank you for the call. Appreciate it.

Speaker 5 (19:29):
Yeah, it's one of the rare times we both you know,
we just agreed that it was very underwhelming for it
for first of all, for the Knicks specifically. Right again,
we're not talking about the Hornets. We're not talking about
the Orlando Magic. We're talking about the Knicks, who finally relevant,
the Knicks, who really had a legitimate chance to get
to the finals and who have still in the sense
that the East is wide open and this is what

(19:49):
they do.

Speaker 7 (19:49):
It's kind of like, oh, okay, like no Nick, no Nick.

Speaker 5 (19:53):
Fan of mine, the friend of mine who is a
fan has tweeted, has posted something like nothing. They're like, oh,
Mike Brown, that's yay you subsequent Lebron, yay, yay, Hey Ron.

Speaker 7 (20:09):
If you threw a.

Speaker 5 (20:09):
Mustache on him, it's just me, Mike Woodson. Throw that
black dyed mustache on there. It's just Mike Woodson. Same dude,
I just don't need somebody go get him.

Speaker 1 (20:21):
Like I said, I was all in on making a
change after that, not getting to the finals. But this
is underwhelming. And as you said, I have friends, my
my New York friends, and I'm you know, a part
of a couple of group Texas like crickets. Like nobody's like,

(20:41):
oh we got our guy. Oh my god, we're gonna
go to the finals next year.

Speaker 7 (20:45):
Oh they're not even mad either. That just shows how
indifferent it is.

Speaker 2 (20:49):
Just like it's indifferent.

Speaker 5 (20:51):
It's just like, Okay, yeah, I know who he is.
He's had some success, Yeah, he's he's been all right.
There you have it, Edny House, ask Eddie about that.
On the other side, that's the odd couple, Rob and
Kelvin on the worship Wednesday, And as mentioned, we are
joined now by our guy, Eddie House, Emmy winner. That's right,
he is an Emmy winner and of course NBA champion,

(21:14):
NBC Sports Boston, Fox Sports Radio, NBA analyst Eddie House
Underscore fifty on X What up, ed Eddie?

Speaker 1 (21:21):
What up?

Speaker 9 (21:22):
What up? What up?

Speaker 6 (21:23):
Mark?

Speaker 2 (21:24):
Hey, what's up?

Speaker 3 (21:25):
Man?

Speaker 6 (21:25):
I ain't talking to him in a minute. So I
wanted to shout out him real quick, what's up with
your brother?

Speaker 7 (21:31):
What's up? Real good to hear from you right on.

Speaker 1 (21:35):
Hey, hey, Eddie, did the Knicks get Larry Brown or
Charlie Brown? Because this is how the interview went in
New York.

Speaker 2 (21:51):
Who take care?

Speaker 6 (21:53):
Hey, you're not right, man, You're not right.

Speaker 1 (21:55):
But that.

Speaker 9 (21:59):
Heap bump barm.

Speaker 7 (22:05):
Was classic.

Speaker 2 (22:05):
Whenever the teacher talked to Charlie Bright, it was classic.

Speaker 7 (22:10):
You know what, you get my point.

Speaker 2 (22:11):
The only reason I say this is Larry Brown.

Speaker 1 (22:14):
Was able to win after multiple stops, you know, like
later in his career with the Pistons, after he was
coached for four or five teams, And this is what
Mike Brown is trying to do. It just doesn't move
the needle for me, Eddie. You know, I'm not saying
that he can't coach or whatever. He just hadn't done
enough for me to feel good about this.

Speaker 6 (22:33):
Well, I'll say this about Mike Brown. For whatever reason,
in the first few years they played really really hard
for him, Okay, and then it almost like his message
wears off. You know, you only could do so much
of the same thing before it doesn't have an effect.

(22:54):
You know, you could take your woman out every single
night for sake dinner, you know, or every every Friday
for steak dinner. And then eventually she gonna be like, Okay,
can we do something different?

Speaker 9 (23:05):
You know what I mean?

Speaker 7 (23:08):
I went through that.

Speaker 2 (23:09):
I'm sorry you weren't taking it from you stake them.

Speaker 6 (23:14):
You know, he was taking he was taking her. He
was taking her for wings for himself.

Speaker 7 (23:20):
Still pulling out the coupon, Yeah, and pulling.

Speaker 6 (23:24):
Out the goupon for real. They trying to get a
break out there wherever you can go to get the breaks,
you know what I mean. But I think that's that's
been Mike Brown's kind of yeah, his the way he's
been coaching, and you know, at first, it's lively, it's different,

(23:46):
it's a different voice. You feel good you and he
has got playing think about it. In Sacramento, they was
out there rocking for a minute, you know what I mean,
and then all of a sudden, it was like he's fired,
you know what I mean? Because I think that sometimes
that same message falls on deaf ears where you're like,

(24:06):
all right, we didn't heard this before, and so maybe
he has to switch up what he has to switch up.
Maybe this is just a bridge gap or whoever they
gonna get next time. You know what I'm saying, I
have no idea how it's gonna work out in New York.
And to be honest with you, I don't care.

Speaker 2 (24:28):
I'm sure.

Speaker 5 (24:30):
Eddie actually Rob he said he loved He's like, wha,
thank god it didn't get her.

Speaker 7 (24:36):
You know even better, coach, Yeah, they wasn't.

Speaker 6 (24:40):
They won't. They weren't gonna get one. I think that
that job, to be honest with you, guys, I think
that that job was something that somebody didn't that people
didn't want to really take on because they just seen
what for the first time in twenty five years, You
go to the conference finals and then all of a
sudden he gets fired. He wins fifty games, he has
a record, and then all of a sudden you get fired.

(25:02):
That doesn't look like a desirable job for anybody. It
looks like a job, that's a dead end job.

Speaker 1 (25:08):
Well, if you choke in game one and give up
fourteen points in the last two minutes, you got a
chance to get fired. Let me ask you this about
the Bucks and what they've done. Basically, I think what
they've done is we'll make you honest and you know,
I think Kelvin thought that this was ANX would be
the way of Jannie getting.

Speaker 2 (25:28):
Out, but he's excited for the moves that they made.

Speaker 1 (25:32):
Cutting Damian Lillard, how shocked were you at that that
they're going to eat one hundred and thirteen million dollars
and basically told him thank you, but no thank you.

Speaker 6 (25:41):
Well, I think that what they looked at was okay,
so they cut that salary and then they bring on
somebody else on the other side that can help, be honest,
all right, And so to me it looks like an
organization that is saying, Yiannis, we don't want you to
go anywhere, you know, because if they didn't make any moves,

(26:02):
I think Giannis would would have made a move. But
since they made this move, I feel like that's the
move that where it shows like, hey, we're committed to you,
We're committed to try to build around you. You know
that Dame ain't gonna play next year, and we're willing
to bite that bullet.

Speaker 2 (26:21):
You know for you right that Eddie watch spot on.

Speaker 1 (26:25):
We're gonna bite one hundred and thirteen million dollar bullet
because we know he can't help you next year as.

Speaker 2 (26:32):
Much as we you know, we might like him or
people might like him. He can't play.

Speaker 6 (26:37):
Yeah, that's that's what I mean. I'm telling you what
I believe is that they're doing everything they can to
make sure they don't lose Jannie. Jannie is the centerpiece
of that team. Dame was an add on, you know
what I mean. He was an Ada.

Speaker 2 (26:58):
Why didn't it work, Eddie? Why didn't it work?

Speaker 1 (27:00):
When that trade went down, people were up, Oh my god,
you know, I can't believe they got Dame to play
with his player like Giannis.

Speaker 2 (27:08):
Finally we're going to see Dame Dalla and the Bucks
are going to have a chance. And it didn't work.
Why didn't it work? In Milwaukee?

Speaker 6 (27:16):
I wouldn't say it didn't work, because I think that
would be taking it too far, Rob to say that
it didn't work. I think that it took some time
for it to start to connect, and it started connecting,
and you could see that they were looking like a
team that okay, they could make some playoff runs. They

(27:37):
and once you start making a playoff run, anything can
happen once you get in the playoffs. And so when
Dame went down, that was it. They had no back
Bobby Porters. Think about Bobby Porters. He was suspended because
of the PDS, So they really never really had that
team together how they envisioned it from the beginning, and

(28:00):
so sometimes you got to just say, hey, man, you know,
cut your losses and say hey, we tried it, it
didn't work. Let's let's let's do something else. Let's let's
pivot and move in in different directions. So that's what
I think that Milwaukee is doing right now. Do I
think that they're going to be a contender next year
in the East. I mean the East is gonna be

(28:21):
wide open because there's a lot of injuries over there.
You know, Halli Burn's out, Jason Tatum is out, So
with Gianni's being over there, and I think I'm gonna
tell you an ascending team is the Orlando Magic, Young
Hung Greek. So you know, I think the East is
wide open right now.

Speaker 7 (28:42):
Yeah, No, I completely agree.

Speaker 5 (28:44):
This is This is absolutely if you ever thought you
had a year, if you're Orlando, if you're the Next,
if you're in Cleveland, if you're a handful of teams
that feel like, hey, this is we got a shot.
This is the year to do with Eddie house our
guest Eddie, I want to swing out West, a team
that had the current champions on the ropes to a
Game seven, and you could argue that wasn't their best
version of themselves. They just got a new coach. I'm

(29:05):
talking about the Denver Nuggets now. They've had a really
good off season thus far. What are you making with
what the Nuggets been able to do? We've already kind
of rob and I have covered the Rockets and some
moves they've made. What about the Knights for you? Did
they get themselves right back in contention in the West?

Speaker 6 (29:19):
I believe so because you got to score in Tim
Hardaway Junior. You bring bad Bruce Brown, you know a
guy that helps you, helped lead, help go and get
a championship. You're surrounding Jokic with shooters, right, so he's
going to get all of the attention all the time.

(29:41):
And he's a winning passer. He's a great passer. Not
a good passer, but a great passer. Makes the right play.
The ball is on target, on time, right there, laced
up for you to knock a shot down. So I
think that they went out and I think they they've
been having a great offseason so far. You know, losing
Michael Porter Junior, you look at it like, okay, well

(30:05):
we gain three other guys that could probably do more,
that give you more production than that one person. I
like Am Datson, Yeah, I like Man. I love Cam Johnson.
I think Cam Johnson is a hell of a basketball player.
I remember watching him play out here in Phoenix when
he was playing and then when he went to New
Jersey excuse me, New Jersey, Brooklyn playing for the Nets.

Speaker 7 (30:27):
I mean he is.

Speaker 6 (30:28):
He's a hell of a basketball player. He can stress
the floor, all of those things. I feel like it's
going to help the Denver Nuggets. So they're gonna be
in They're gonna they're gonna be a team that's gonna
be in contention next year. If everybody stays healthy, there'll
be a team that we're talking about going to the
Western Conference finals.

Speaker 5 (30:47):
Yeah, that's what I'm sure that's what they want to
get back to, that position to have a championship, especially,
you don't want to wait waste any Yoka's years.

Speaker 7 (30:53):
Addie Man, appreciate it as always. Enjoy the fourth and
this weekend.

Speaker 6 (30:57):
On y'all two man, y'all be safe.

Speaker 7 (32:16):
Didn't you hear me say it again?

Speaker 5 (32:23):
Oh?

Speaker 7 (32:23):
Okay?

Speaker 2 (32:23):
So you went one and two, one and two last night.

Speaker 7 (32:26):
Very good, I speak.

Speaker 1 (32:29):
You can read the Charlie Browns teacher, one and two
last night, one sixty six, one sixty nine. My best
bet Yankees had lost two in a row in Toronto,
and they're gonna make it three in a row. Because
I had the Yankees minus one and a half. They're
down seven nothing already.

Speaker 2 (32:45):
You could have turned yourself my goodness, gracious. Also, I
got the Mets. They're scuffling.

Speaker 1 (32:53):
Plus one and a half runs uh for the Metropolitans tonight. Uh.
And the last and final game took the Braves minus
one and a half run.

Speaker 2 (33:03):
So Braves minus one.

Speaker 1 (33:04):
And a half, Mets plus one and a half, and
the Yankees minus one and a half. You already know
is an l. But remember, Kelvin, what's that? I'm not
telling you who to bet on. I'm telling you who
I bet on.

Speaker 3 (33:19):
What was that?

Speaker 1 (33:20):
What?

Speaker 7 (33:22):
All right? Well, let's getting out to the tire rack
player of the day.

Speaker 2 (33:29):
Back to the wall. What slip George Springer?

Speaker 5 (33:38):
Close it open in the seventh on Canada Day, On
Canada Day. There you have it right there. You had
torn a blue Jay radio on the call. It is
your tire rack play of the day. And of course
tire rack is always going to help you get where
you need to go. And for over forty years, IRAQ
has been helping customers find the right tires for how,
what and where they drive. Ship fast and free back

(33:59):
by free road had to protection with convenient insulation options
like mobile tire Insulation, tire rack dot com. It is
the way tire buying should be rob you. And obviously
I'm from the metro Detroit area. You spent twenty something
years there, so we're very familiar with it. Then we're
very familiar with it now because we both get back.
You were just there over the weekend. Did you hear

(34:20):
the story about the WNBA player who had some thoughts
on these new teams that are possibly going to be
added to the WNBA.

Speaker 7 (34:27):
Did you did you see that? I did.

Speaker 2 (34:29):
I actually agree with her, but for different reasons. Go ahead,
I want to hear.

Speaker 7 (34:33):
Okay, Well, she had a conversation.

Speaker 5 (34:36):
They're talking about the teams that are going to be
added to the the WNBA and a couple of the
cities expansion, Yeah, and Detroit being one of them, as
well as Cleveland.

Speaker 7 (34:46):
This is Sophie Cunningham, who.

Speaker 5 (34:47):
Had mentioned that the Indiana Fever Star, and she just
went on essentially, I'm gonna paraphrase because obviously it's a
little lengthy, but she said, folks, are you know we
got a couple of points about expanding too fast? And
and also do you want to list to the players
where do they want to play? Where do they want
to go? Where are they most excited to play and
draw fans. I think that Miami would have been a
great location. Nashville's an amazing city, Kansas City an amazing opportunity.

Speaker 7 (35:10):
And then she goes on to say, I know how
I don't.

Speaker 5 (35:14):
Know how excited people are about going to Detroit or Cleveland,
And she took a little shot at Detroit and Cleveland.

Speaker 7 (35:19):
So Cleveland and Cleveland and Detroit.

Speaker 5 (35:21):
Social media for that area, for news sites and all
that have been taking shots at her.

Speaker 3 (35:26):
But just.

Speaker 5 (35:28):
What are your thoughts on the shots at the city
and just coming straightforward after shots.

Speaker 2 (35:32):
I don't agree with those. I mean, I get it.
Whenever you say that people going to get their panties
in a bunch.

Speaker 7 (35:38):
Figured the first time is literal.

Speaker 1 (35:40):
Yeah, so I'll know you're right, literally right, But my
point is if the WNBA failed in those cities, and
I think if she made that case rather than nobody
wanted to go to Cleveland or Detroit, I could understand
her message.

Speaker 2 (35:55):
Nashville a big, booming, up and coming city, right.

Speaker 1 (35:59):
You know, we know about Miami and what was the
other city of Kansas City doesn't have basketball. So her
point is well taken that there are other places that
don't have it or don't have failed u w NBA teams,
And I think that is the argument the shots at
the end, I think it's what clouded to make people

(36:20):
just kind of hate on it. But her point about
a I think it's too quick with the expansion. I
do agree with too many teams, but it is weird
that you're going back to two markets where it didn't work.

Speaker 5 (36:32):
Which is so only thing I'll say about the shot,
and you you know, you were there. It was weird
because obviously ultimately they weren't this, you know, incredibly thriving team,
but they had a lot of success. They drew the
most fans there during their during a couple of years
in the w NBA, they had the most attendance. Everything
was twenty one thousand at a game they had won

(36:52):
a couple of times.

Speaker 2 (36:53):
They weren't making any money. That's the reason that they moved.
They went to Tulsa.

Speaker 5 (36:58):
I'm saying, which Lee me to also the other side
of this, prior to Caitlin Clark, Let's not act like
Indiana is this hot spot, you know what I mean.
Let's not act like that. Let's not act like, as
she mentioned Kansas City. I know they don't have basketball there,
but let's not act like it's the most desirable place.

Speaker 7 (37:12):
I mean, I might go get to play the barbecue,
but that's it.

Speaker 5 (37:15):
So for her kind of taking some shots, and especially
when Detroit, as you know, is downtown Detroit is a
really nice place. Now, I would I would. I would
have probably even conceded this in two thousand and five,
four or five. South Ay, Yeah, Detroit is thriving right now.
So uh but in Cleveland obviously as well, it's had
basketball there, baseball, football, mean, it's been one of the

(37:37):
more sports, better sports towns as well. So I think
her larger point to me would have been, are we
expanding too fast? If you're the w said that, That's
what I'm saying. She stayed that too, you know, the possibility.
I think the city, she said, weren't crazy. I mean
my Miami.

Speaker 7 (37:55):
I mean Miami is Miami.

Speaker 5 (37:56):
But then you know you're going to the Heat game
to the fourth quarter, you think I'm just Miami heatlets.

Speaker 2 (38:05):
Her point, I guess to me, was was that that
you're going back to two cities that failed.

Speaker 5 (38:10):
That's all you just always wanted to bring up Detroit fail.
That's what you're trying to do. You guys see you
going back.

Speaker 2 (38:15):
To your ex wife.

Speaker 7 (38:16):
