What's happening? What's up?
Speaker 5 (01:26):
Man?
Speaker 2 (01:26):
Welcome back?
Speaker 1 (01:27):
How was it I saw you and your your nephew nephew,
the great nephew, great great nephew, and uh.
Speaker 2 (01:34):
It was great. It was great to go see him
play Little League baseball.
Speaker 4 (01:37):
And he was happy that Uncle Bobby showed up, you
know what I mean, in the whole nine yards and.
Speaker 2 (01:43):
That was beautiful.
Speaker 4 (01:44):
Man was at Yankee Stadium Friday night with my buddies.
They're all like big time Yankees fans from New Jersey,
so we all hung out there went in Virginia.
Speaker 2 (01:52):
We wasn't happy to see Aaron Judge.
Speaker 4 (01:54):
No, no, no, I'm not. Then I enjoyed the game.
It was great to be out there. The atmosphere was quick.
Speaker 2 (02:00):
To see your phone, Let me see all the pictures
you got Aaron Judge?
Speaker 1 (02:03):
Are you kidding, Robbgie over under seventeen pictures of Aaron Judge?
Speaker 5 (02:07):
No?
Speaker 2 (02:07):
Absolutely zero under over stop? Yeah, well under married? What sixteen?
Did I go on to? Maybe like fifteen and a half.
Speaker 4 (02:15):
It's a blurred you got a blurred one. That's right,
that's the half there. And then as I know, I'm
just saying this real quickly, what's that? This is how
I know I'm getting old. Okay, oh boy, what happened?
Speaker 6 (02:26):
It wasn't the gray hair?
Speaker 2 (02:28):
No, not the gray hair.
Speaker 4 (02:29):
Well, I thought you paid me a great compliment the
other day when you saw me on MLB ne.
Speaker 2 (02:33):
One, what she say? She's laughing really hard? What did
she say? She was like, who's this fine old older
dude right here?
Speaker 4 (02:38):
I didn't say that.
Speaker 2 (02:39):
Hold on, let me, let's pull on my phone to say.
Speaker 4 (02:41):
I think I said, who's this fine sexy chalk chocolate chocolate.
I'm still you will definitely take it, right, I'll take that.
But no, like like instead of flying straight from Norfolk,
Virginia all the way to LA yesterday, I just can't
do it. Oh wow, So I stopped in Detroit, had
dinner with friends, and then flew out this morning and
(03:03):
then just the flight to Detroit to for you know what,
It's a big difference between five and a half or
five forty five?
Speaker 2 (03:12):
Is this new? Is this something you realized that I
started to do this now?
Speaker 4 (03:15):
Yeah, Like I'm starting to look at trips to try
to break them up. I just don't want to fly
all the way across and I'd rather go somewhere, have dinner,
you know what I mean, right, and then and then
go to sleep, you know what I mean, in the
bed and then get on a plane. Four twenty doesn't
bother them. No, that's like I get in a perfect world.
Speaker 2 (03:34):
That's boom. It's about it, that's about the max.
Speaker 1 (03:37):
Yeah, but all look good man, look good, had a
good U got you had a good trip?
Speaker 2 (03:41):
Yeah, it was great. All right, let's welcome in the
odd couple crew. Wait wait, wait you forgot? You forgot?
Speaker 4 (03:45):
Oh yeah, you're right, remember this the odd couple. Look
at your few days in front of a live audience.
Speaker 2 (03:54):
Sweetie.
Speaker 4 (03:56):
Yeah, the people need to hear the sweetest no doubt,
no doubt about it. All right, let's welcome in the
odd couple of crew. We wouldn't be able to do
this fine radio program without them. Hold on before we
go there, you notice how he ain't asked me how
I'm doing? How's my weekdi? How are you ask my weekend?
Speaker 2 (04:11):
How was your weekend? I'm sorry, that's fine, just fine.
Did you do anything special? What happened? Tell me?
Speaker 1 (04:17):
Just because I didn't travel across America, you don't want
to ask me about it.
Speaker 2 (04:20):
I'm just it's fine. You just want to give you.
Speaker 4 (04:23):
I know you were on the Dodgers broadcast on Oh
yeah I was.
Speaker 2 (04:26):
I already do that and I wasn't even in town.
That is true. That is true. You can know what
I mean.
Speaker 1 (04:32):
It's just easy waking kids on Saturday Dodgers for the
first game of the year for me pre and post.
Obviously because of this show, you're slowing it down, so
you're off punishment.
Speaker 4 (04:41):
Now, what's I'm just saying what you're talking about.
Speaker 2 (04:46):
What you're talking about, willis what you're talking about.
Speaker 4 (04:48):
I don't know think about what you're talking about.
Speaker 2 (04:53):
Who told you something? I told you? Nobody told me.
He told you something? You see Rob G. I threw
that out there and look at that.
Speaker 1 (05:00):
He was like, looking at Rob, I'll tell you some Robb,
look at I can't see you right now. Give me your eyes.
Ain't telling me anything. But all right, let's welcome in
the YD Couple of crew. Rob G is our producer.
Steve the Seger's at the anchor dust.
Speaker 4 (05:15):
He'll keep us updated throughout the program, and of course
Elijah is our social media guru.
Speaker 2 (05:23):
And on the ones and twoses none other than why Bug.
Speaker 4 (05:31):
That's right, and don't forget the odd couple. It's sponsored
in part by Express Pros. We'll do that coming up.
All right, Uh, let's go here, and there's a lot
of friction going on in the w n b A,
and not good friction. If you got it, I got
(05:52):
how you got it? Can I say this, I'm just
gonna I'm gonna pull a curtain back. I'm just gonna
be honest. Okay, And I'm that serious when I say this.
What's going on with the Caitlyn Clark, Angel Reeves or whatever.
This is the reason not to watch the WNBA because
(06:19):
we came there to watch basketball, right Kaitlyn Clark was
doing stuff where we were like, oh my god, look
at the threes, the logo threes, Oh my god. It
was about the basketball, and instead, you know what we
are now, it's a bad episode of basketball wives.
Speaker 2 (06:39):
That's what we have. I'm not interested in that.
Speaker 7 (06:44):
I'm not.
Speaker 4 (06:47):
Everything is a big deal. They're supposed to be ready
for prime time. They don't want to be criticized by
the media. Oh my god, they don't want to be foul.
Speaker 5 (06:56):
Now.
Speaker 2 (06:56):
I don't know what it is.
Speaker 4 (06:58):
Are you gonna play basketball? Or is everything petty and personal?
I don't get it. They've been dying for this stage,
dying for their messiah.
Speaker 2 (07:11):
She showed up. She moves in the needle. The ratings
aren't upticked the attendance.
Speaker 4 (07:19):
How many times am I gonna tell you she's the
Harlem Globe trotters by herself, Calvin everywhere she shows up,
she's the pipe piper. And it ain't rats following her mice.
It's fans paying fans other places against five six thousand people.
(07:40):
She's selling out the building. And now it's always something
other than basketball? Really, is that where we are? I'm
dead serious. I'm not interested in it.
Speaker 2 (07:55):
Soap proper, a basketball soaproper, I'm not.
Speaker 4 (08:00):
I came for the basketball, and if it's not gonna
be basketball, why in the world would I be interested
in this. I don't know about you, but I'm out
on the WNBA out out until they get back to basketball.
Speaker 1 (08:19):
So I don't mind what inur Reese and Caitlyn Clark
have going, right. I think that is absolutely It's what
you need. It's fun. We talk about it in most sports, rivalries, competition.
I don't even care if it's tennis or golf, and
you got you got guys going at it, competing for championships,
Ladies going at it, competing for championships. That's what makes
stuff great, makes it compelling. However, I will say this,
(08:44):
you have to be careful. Somebody told me something a
long time ago that stuck with me. They said, you
gotta be careful because the thing that you can become
known for and liked for can also be the thing
that becomes your demise.
Speaker 2 (08:57):
And I give you an example of that. Always you.
Speaker 1 (09:00):
Here's this example. I say, Rob G, you've been hanging
with us crazy Steve, And Rob G says, yeah, I
love hangling crazy Steve. You never know we're gonna get
into man's wild crazy times. I love crazy Steve. Rob
Steve the Sager. Why I didn't want to put him
out there. I didn't want to put Steve the Sager
out there. I just called him other than Steve the Saga.
And then you say, hey, man, why don't you hat
(09:21):
with crazy Steve anymore?
Speaker 2 (09:22):
And he says, man, crazy Steve is too crazy. Man.
Every time I hang with her, we get in trouble.
Speaker 6 (09:26):
Man.
Speaker 1 (09:26):
Stuff's going on, police, And my fear for the w NBA,
or at least a concern I should say, is that
this becomes too gimmicky. Where now you go hardy know? Now,
who's gonna be this one? Every little files a thing.
So while I would love the competitiveness. I love the rivalry,
I love kind of the drama. We love that in
all sports, and I think it's a necessity and I
(09:47):
think it's something the NBA missed for quite some time.
Just be careful that it becomes sticky. Oh that's just
here's the stick. That's just what they do. And you
want to make sure it's basketball. Now, we have to
do our part as and relax. To take something from
your guy, Aaron Rodgers, are e lax, Relax because that
was just simply a hard file from Kayln Clark Changel Reese.
(10:10):
It was hard, foul, good, good basketball file. And for
that to be a thing when if that was in
the NBA or college men's college basketball, it wouldn't be
a thing, and maybe even women's college basketball wouldn't have
been a conversation except for the two would involve. So
we have to be careful to as a media, we
have to be careful too as referees in the WNBAS
as commissioners in the WNBA, to not blow everything out
(10:32):
of proportion. They got it, it got chippy. That should
just be Oh they got chippy in a competitive game,
So what who cares happens every night, pick the sport,
and so we have to be careful that we don't
dramatize and make everything a thing as well. But as
far as the firiness, the chippiness and the competitiveness, I
welcome it. I love it, but it can't become a
thing where they're selling me that on too much, or
(10:53):
that we dramatize and making the headlines everywhere that one
simple hard file happened, because the real headline should have
been kayln Clark went crazy. They won by the most
points they've ever won by, I believe, in their franchise history,
and it was a blowout and she was hitting threes
all over the place, had a triple double.
Speaker 2 (11:08):
That should have been the headline.
Speaker 1 (11:10):
But instead the headline is a hard file, which really
wasn't that heart of a file so well.
Speaker 4 (11:14):
But that's why exactly my point is that that we
came for the basketball, right what is this like?
Speaker 2 (11:24):
Seriously?
Speaker 4 (11:25):
And and when you do this you will turn people
off because the only reason that they started watching women's
basketball is because she was playing it differently than all
the women that played it.
Speaker 2 (11:36):
It wasn't be they ignored the w NBA for thirty years.
Let's up, Come on, are you kidding? Absolutely?
Speaker 1 (11:42):
I think it's without a doubt her being the Stephena
Curry if you will, and then yeah, you know Stephena Curry.
And then also because of the injuries and her and
drama and great basketball I was playing, played at the
collegiate level that then transferred to the w NBA.
Speaker 2 (11:58):
So I think those are great things. But now you
want to carry forward.
Speaker 1 (12:00):
Have competitive games, right, Actual games that are back and forth,
buzzer beaters or close games or you know, within an
eight point get margin and you feeling like, oh, this
is a good game to watch. So if you're Angel
Rees and her crew, we gotta get back to the
drawing board. We can't even getting blown out by thirty
five forty because you know, then all of a sudden
we were way out of this thing and it's just
Caitlin Clark dominating.
Speaker 2 (12:20):
So love the competition.
Speaker 1 (12:22):
Yes, we like a little sauce in a little drama
and are mixed in there little spice, but that can't
become the only thing that can't become the stick.
Speaker 2 (12:31):
It can't because it will turn a lot of people off.
Speaker 4 (12:33):
If that's what this is gonna be and everything's a
big deal and everything is personal.
Speaker 2 (12:39):
It just can't be that. Let me add this real
quick for you.
Speaker 1 (12:41):
Break angur Ree specifically is gonna have to watch this
because she she they're both very emotional. They both they
they are very fiery. But I just don't I think
Angel Rees. I don't want her to get lost in
the sauce and get back to just playing ball as well,
which the thing she tried to do in the second half.
Speaker 2 (12:58):
They just got blue out. But just you know, playball.
Speaker 4 (13:01):
Do you be? You can continue to be who you are.
I got you. You don't want that. I'm with you.
And and they're both talented players.
Speaker 1 (13:14):
Play play because then if you're angel Oh, what's she
gonna do tonight?
Speaker 2 (13:18):
Is she gonna push somebody down?
Speaker 1 (13:20):
She's gonna you don't want You don't want that to
where it becomes people watch to see, Oh she gonna
have attitude, slam somebody.
Speaker 2 (13:25):
You know, you don't. You don't want that.
Speaker 1 (13:26):
Because she's a heck of a player in her role, defense, rebound, aggression,
fire up her team, that's her role.
Speaker 2 (13:32):
It'd be nice for her to make a few more baskets.
Speaker 4 (13:34):
You heard, you heard what I said you heard, you
heard rebound, blocks, shots, energy. Okay, I'm just saying that
even I know she's focused on that. Okay, I'm just trying.
Speaker 2 (13:43):
That's highlights around here, and.
Speaker 4 (13:45):
You will at least know that I look through the
stat line when it comes to shots, right, Okay.
Speaker 2 (13:49):
I just wanted to say that.
Speaker 4 (13:50):
That's a little like you gotta know how to like skip.
Speaker 2 (13:52):
That part skip. You gotta do that, all right.
Speaker 4 (13:54):
Eight seven seven ninety nine on Fox eight seven seven, nine, nine,

going at it again. You win it, you love it,
making it a great game. Do you worried? Like for me,
(15:37):
that is gonna get too sticky? Rob says, get back
to the hoops. Who we got John.
Speaker 4 (15:42):
In Clovis, California. You're on the ovid on the odd couple.
Fox Borys say, obviously, I know, right, what's up? John?
Speaker 2 (15:49):
How are you?
Speaker 5 (15:51):
Hey? Rob? I love that take, man, that was hyperbleeve
for day.
Speaker 2 (15:55):
Thank you, my man. You know I used to be
a writer. I'm just saying, yeah, no.
Speaker 5 (15:59):
You can still do it. I'm sure you can do it.
And then and your boy gonna be the voice of reasons.
Speaker 6 (16:05):
You know, they need they need a lame beer in.
Speaker 5 (16:07):
The Ladies League, man, because you remember that those kind
of back in the day, there were characters, right, and
so they're building characters and and then building it up
because I'm gonna tell you what, man, I mean. I
know you guys cover sports and you have to do
this all the time. But for the most part, nobody
watched n B A W n B A Bro.
Speaker 4 (16:27):
No, no, John, John, I'm just got to listen. You
ain't got to convince convince me.
Speaker 5 (16:34):
So and so you start getting them out there, you know,
doing things, and maybe we might tune in to see
what might happen.
Speaker 1 (16:42):
You know, we need some basketball. Yeah, you need the
competition and you need the rivalry. That's what I was saying.
The only thing is, again, you don't want it to
become what Andrew has to do. Yeah, I appreciate Youah,
in order to watch you better body slammed somebody.
Speaker 4 (16:57):
If we're doing all that, then you that's the only
fair is that for her? Specifically? How about Sean from Sacramento.
You're on the EYD couple Fox Sports Radio. What's up Sean?
Speaker 6 (17:07):
Yeo, my globe trying nunkle from another mother cousin kill
me and my brother's mind. The boy with a Mary
max Man what a to me? This is just a
bunch of stick man. You can't be posting I see,
I'll see the internet going wild.
Speaker 5 (17:22):
JR.
Speaker 6 (17:22):
Gambill talking about the matchup between these two. They're not
tuning and one team is getting blown out by thirty
points and the big sticking point the next day is
a little kerfuffle between yas market Angel Reeves. I hear you, Rob.
It needs to be about the merriat. When you go
back to the NBA Bird versus Magic, those were close
games that was worth the price of admission to try
(17:43):
to stand these two up. And it's really one hundred
percent on one sided. It's just showing you who these
cornball analysts is out there trying to make this their
whole stick today. They don't know how to analyze the
real game. They don't know how to do baseball, so
what do they do?
Speaker 3 (17:58):
Whatever?
Speaker 6 (17:58):
The biggest highlight couges of the day, and it happened
to be Kaylyn Clark and Angel Rees. I'm out on
the w n B A A.
Speaker 2 (18:05):
Sean, He's out. Y'all were never in You and Sean?
Speaker 4 (18:09):
Well, Greg and Wichita, you're on the couple of Fox
Sports Radio.
Speaker 2 (18:14):
What's up?
Speaker 4 (18:14):
Greg?
Speaker 8 (18:16):
What are you guys doing? Hey, I didn't start watching
w NBA till last year because because of Caitlin's you know,
but I'm the game Saturdays. I'm I'm with Jovin. It
was the media. Clarkon made a hard foul because she
didn't want to give a layup, right.
Speaker 2 (18:33):
I agree. It was a hard file, That's.
Speaker 8 (18:35):
All it was, and that was it. I don't think
Caitlin is still blame for anything. I mean, she doesn't
speak up, done fight, never bitches about not getting foul calls.
He should, never bitches about getting golf from fouls that
she didn't make like that one was now technical, it
was this hard for it was Asia well and I'm
sorry the other one she could do whatever.
Speaker 2 (18:58):
Angel Reese, right, you know she wants.
Speaker 8 (19:02):
To me, to me, I think she'd be been off
not podcasting and working on her low pos.
Speaker 4 (19:08):
Oh my yes, when you look at that shooting percentage,
Thanks Craig, we appreciate it, thank you.
Speaker 2 (19:14):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (19:15):
Yeah, people are not gonna let her left her layups
go no no no, I m J ahead.
Speaker 2 (19:20):
MJ and new wall and joined the odds. What's up,
m J?
Speaker 6 (19:26):
What's what's going on?
Speaker 8 (19:27):
To see food platter brothers? What's going on?
Speaker 3 (19:31):
Man?
Speaker 4 (19:31):
That sounds good right by now? We eat so good.
I had lobster last night into really yeah, you're feeling fancy?
Speaker 2 (19:38):
What was her name?
Speaker 1 (19:39):
What was her name?
Speaker 4 (19:40):
Right?
Speaker 2 (19:40):
Oh that boy? Hey, MJ. Hear and her blessing.
Speaker 6 (19:47):
Hey, my brother's love.
Speaker 8 (19:48):
I watched the first game the other day, the Sports
versus the Valkyrie. I thought it was a playoff game.
Watch this game here. Also, I don't know what's the
social media type saying here.
Speaker 6 (19:59):
As a way devil. But they got to get controlled
of it.
Speaker 8 (20:02):
I'm not out on it.
Speaker 5 (20:03):
Rob.
Speaker 2 (20:03):
If you thank You've been.
Speaker 5 (20:04):
A reporter thirteen tasured.
Speaker 8 (20:08):
And you're not filling the w n b A where
they play real basketball.
Speaker 2 (20:12):
They post.
Speaker 8 (20:13):
Enough people diving football in game one. Rob, come on,
come on.
Speaker 2 (20:18):
Rob, I've seen it.
Speaker 4 (20:19):
Sometimes they look like, uh, just I don't even know
what you're about to say, but just don't do it.
Speaker 3 (20:24):
M J.
Speaker 4 (20:25):
A J.
Speaker 2 (20:26):
Power to you, MJ.
Speaker 1 (20:28):
I'm not gonna act like I'm a season ticket holder
and im and.
Speaker 4 (20:30):
Calvin please he's got three daughters. I wise beforehand. Yeah, okay,
did not tell you about the Detroit shot.
Speaker 2 (20:36):
You were there. Detroit shot used to have the city
on lock.
Speaker 4 (20:39):
And let me tell you, can I give you a
real quick let's do it to Drew in New Jersey. Drew,
you're on the couple of Fox Sports. I'm gonna tell
you the truth.
Speaker 7 (20:47):
Hey, guys, and I couldn't agree more with your comment
on working on a low post game. I've never I
wondered how she averaged a devil double. I didn't realize
that you shoot thirty nine percent from twos and obviously
you're gonna get a readout number two.
Speaker 2 (21:01):
I think, well, it takes three shots to make one basket.
Speaker 4 (21:04):
I didn't.
Speaker 7 (21:06):
I didn't realize that you sound like shock.
Speaker 2 (21:09):
I was talking about what your game.
Speaker 7 (21:11):
That just shows you that nobody really watches it.
Speaker 5 (21:15):
Yes, that's the case.
Speaker 7 (21:15):
You're looking at the box store. Number two. I think
that the W NBA has not advertised Taylor Clark and
taken advantage of it. And if I'm an NBA player,
I'm like, hey, I want my money back. You're costing
me money and I'm and by critiquing it and saying, hey,
let me advertise it, you guys are hating on me.
You guys call me haters even though I'm literally the
only reason why you've been funded for twenty five years
(21:39):
and no other business can operate. When you lose money
twenty five years consecutively, wouldn't you go on drift? Nobody
funded you?
Speaker 2 (21:45):
No right? What do you know? What I said?
Speaker 4 (21:47):
The W W, the W and W NBA stands for what,
rob g I'm not even listening to this. I know
what you're about to say.
Speaker 2 (21:56):
You want to say it, welfare NBA, I have to
say it.
Speaker 1 (22:00):
I'm just saying, Elijah, just make sure you split the
screen when you had it, just like Kelvin's not in it.
Speaker 2 (22:06):
Okay, that's what the W stands for.
Speaker 4 (22:09):
But I was gonna say he was bringing up the
Detroit Shock real quick before we get to Steve de
Sega and they had one championship sold out whatever, And
I was told by one of my CWPSS close warm
personal friends they couldn't stay sold. The stadium held twenty
twenty and they sold about four thousand tickets and now
(22:29):
the rest. Were you in Detroit, they would put two
tickets on a window shit, you know, on your winshield,
right and come out of us.
Speaker 2 (22:39):
I got a ticket.
Speaker 4 (22:40):
No, no, there would be four tickets there when you
come out. Well, the tickets market ticket and two w
oh man, don't do that.
Speaker 2 (22:49):
Detroit shock just said they couldn't sell ticks. They couldn't
not sell you know what I mean. People would go
they want to go to a party, championship all that,
but they weren't.
Speaker 1 (22:57):
Would have helped as you know this, had they been
in this they want I'm just telling us they were
selling tickets.
Speaker 2 (23:04):
Whatever. You don't come, don't come around to the w later.
Speaker 4 (23:07):
All right, all right, Steve Sager, I think the w
Hotel wants to change his name the way the WNBA's playing.
Speaker 2 (23:14):
What's a Welfare Hotel agoing to you?
Speaker 3 (23:17):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Odd Couple
with Rob Parker and kelvin Washington, weekdays at seven pm
Eastern four pm Pacific on Fox Sports Radio and the
iHeartRadio app.
Speaker 2 (23:28):
All right here Steve the saga, Steve, thank you so much.
Speaking of the Dodgers, can you can you speak?
Speaker 5 (23:33):
You?
Speaker 2 (23:33):
All right? What a weekend?
Speaker 7 (23:35):
Huh?
Speaker 4 (23:36):
I can't believe that Angels had not swept the Dodgers
at Dodgers Stadium since was it twenty ten, fifteen years
ago or something like that? Yeah, incredible, Yeah, they look,
they can't keep me at this point. They might call
one of us to pitch.
Speaker 1 (23:50):
They might call your great great nephew, like, look, I mean,
I know he's young, but he might have something in
that arm.
Speaker 2 (23:55):
But coming into the season, it had abundance of pitching.
Everybody was free. Man, it's not fair.
Speaker 1 (24:01):
You had the New York Yankees talking about oh man,
it's not fair what the Dodgers are doing, and we
keep talking about health. It's a long season. You saw
the Dodgers have to have a patchwork pitching staffs.
Speaker 4 (24:14):
About the Yankees won that game, there were five nothing
they would have won the World Series.
Speaker 2 (24:18):
Dodgers had no pitching for six games six and seven.
Speaker 4 (24:21):
I agree they had none that's why he's gonna make
for a grade thirty for thirty.
Speaker 2 (24:25):
What if I told you it was all going good
until the fifth inning.
Speaker 1 (24:30):
That's gonna be a great one. Yeah that they they
at this point. I mean, you happy to get Tony
Gonslin back. His finger splits open and bleeding everywhere. So yeah,
they're going through it. Going back to what Steve brought up,
Nick Siriani, he brought up a good point, rob when
there were conversations about is he gonna make it, is
he gonna last?
Speaker 2 (24:48):
What do they need to do? How do they shake
this thing up?
Speaker 4 (24:50):
Uh?
Speaker 1 (24:51):
And now obviously he's got himself a new deal, but
you start to look at his stats. If you're his agent,
you say it was hard, this this, this, this season,
this run absolutely save the job. He's now fifty four
and twenty three with the Eagles, including the postseason. He's
on a seventy winning percentage, which is the fifth best
by any coach in NFL history.
Speaker 4 (25:10):
Uh.
Speaker 1 (25:11):
And obviously been to a Super Bowl and then finally
wins one. But as I think about Nick Sirianni, who
the heck is Nick Sirianni? And what I mean is
when I think of some coaches, right or wrong, good
or bad. I know what they are and kind of
what they bring it to the table. Right, you know
exactly who Mike Tomlin is. Right, it's gonna be defensive first,
(25:31):
He's not gonna win a playoff. Right, So I said
right or wrong?
Speaker 2 (25:34):
But you know who he is. Uh, when I look
at Dan Campbell, you know exactly what you say. He blows.
He blows games.
Speaker 6 (25:42):
No, he is.
Speaker 2 (25:43):
He's gonna gamble.
Speaker 1 (25:44):
He is gonna he has a gamble and he blows game.
He has his team all the way exactly. They they're
not fifteen to two and not doing this with you.
But my point is, you know who he is. He
has built a team that is tough. He's built a
team that is going forward, that believes in it. They'll
they'll you know what they are. Obviously, you go to
some the coaches around the league. You know what Andy
Reid is. Nick Sirianni is one of the head coaches
(26:05):
who has some success to his credit, seventy percent of
the games including playoffs. He went and I don't know
what Nick Sirianni does. I don't, I don't know. You know,
it's not all their offensive minded, their defense.
Speaker 2 (26:15):
I know what they do.
Speaker 1 (26:16):
I know what the team does, but I don't feel
like that's him. He's changed offensive coordinators. It's shifted. And
I credit their front office for supplying him the grocery
so that his team can cook, because I mean, all
of a sudden, you go get Saquon Barkley and you
add him to a team that was already good, and
some of the pieces they were able to add. You
got two number ones as receivers. I mean, they've got
(26:37):
a great situation. So I'm not knock the good Nick nitpicking.
And I'm gonna say this sports has a short menu.
It's wins and losses.
Speaker 4 (26:45):
So you can sit here and talk about your identity
and you could be Dan Campbell and Raw Raw and
I'm gonna go for it and all that. But you
had not and you were nine and a half point
favorites at home against the rookie quarterback, and you wet
the bed in that you had a big lead on
the road the year before that against San Francisco where
you could have gone to the super Bowl, should have
gone to the super Bowl.
Speaker 2 (27:05):
You didn't do that.
Speaker 4 (27:07):
And Nick Sorianni has to be able to deal with
and I think it's an I think it's a feather
in his cap that he lost both his offensive and
defensive coordinator. They weren't fired, they lost him because they
went to the Super Bowl and people wanted their guys,
and unlike what I think is gonna happen is Detroit
where they lost their two coordinators and we'll see with
(27:28):
Dan Campbell.
Speaker 2 (27:29):
Sirianni was able to do that. And you could not
like him or dislike him or whatever.
Speaker 4 (27:34):
It's a results business and if you don't win, eventually,
they're going to move on and get somebody else. And
I think that he even when people were questioning what
was going on and all that, he got it done
and they won that Super Bowl convincing. And it wasn't
because of sa Kwan Barkley because he didn't have a
big game in the Super Bowl. What do you have
(27:54):
less than sixty yards.
Speaker 2 (27:57):
Lines? But that's what I'm saying, But it's so so they.
Speaker 4 (28:00):
Had to say quantity had a great year and all that,
but that ain't the reason they won the super Bowl.
Speaker 1 (28:04):
That's but it's the mainly one of the main reasons
they got to the Super Bowl. And I'm not you know,
you absolutely there's twenty two guys on the field for
you both eleven on offensive left.
Speaker 4 (28:11):
You've got to give people to play, and that's what
Nick Sirianni has been there in Philadelphia. Yeah, and I
still don't know exactly what he is, So what does
that mean?
Speaker 2 (28:20):
Does that mean?
Speaker 1 (28:22):
No, I'm saying this is why he gets the contract
because he was able to when you had a team
and they were moments they were they were out on you,
your own quarterback. And I still don't know how he
feels about him. Jalen Hurts was out on. They had
to have a kumba ya over the summer and figure
this thing out. So I know this isn't a knock
on him. This is me just saying after the handful
of years now, including a championship win, like dang, I
(28:42):
don't really know what Nick Sirianni does, like what his
what he does, what his ethos is his thing?
Speaker 2 (28:48):
You know his thing if you will. So, No, winning
absolutely saved. Just winning.
Speaker 4 (28:52):
It's about managing people, and good leaders manage people. So
if you can manage personalities, if I can manage the
people who are working underneath me and do it in
that fashion, you know what I mean, like that's what
you want sometimes, and I think, and.
Speaker 2 (29:10):
I just I just said, what's that? Andy Reid and
Dan Campbell no great leaders?
Speaker 4 (29:15):
No say that. Okay, I'm just saying I think Nick
has done a great job in a very tough town, Philadelphia.
The toughest time. That's Andy Reid who got run out
of Philadelphia.
Speaker 2 (29:27):
You know what I mean. It ain't that easy to
win there. Andy could not win there.
Speaker 4 (29:31):
And they were good and went to the NFC Championship game,
what four years in a row, four or five? I
mean like four years in a row, and they went
to one super Bowl and they didn't win, and then
they started losing and they ran them out of town
with that Denny's menu.
Speaker 2 (29:44):
So I give the win's.
Speaker 4 (29:46):
I give Nick Cirianna a lot of credit man to
whether the storm. I'll tell you this biggest misstep was
when not with the players, but when he went after
the fans in the media like like that's a losing battle.
I would tell any coach that's that's a that's what
l Just stay away from that. You're not going to win.
The fans have been here longer than you. They're gonna
(30:07):
be here longer than you the media. They don't have
no four year career as head coach. The media members
are there for forty years. You're gonna lose. You're going
to lose that it's not necessary.
Speaker 1 (30:18):
And that's why for him, the winning part was crucial
because I do think he was on I do think
this season was let's say they finished even with a
five hundred, you know, above five hundred, they finished, you know,
ten and seven, and they make it to the wild
card or what have you. I think he would have
been out just too much was going on throughout the season.
You mentioned that, you mentioned him, I mentioned earlier him
(30:39):
having issues with Jalen Hurts, but them righting the ship
and them being dominanting that Super Bowl absolutely helped him
right there. Shekel City on the way see how Rob
did and what's got going on? And also, uh, what's
in the bag, what's happening with golf? Will tell you
it's The Odd Couple Rob Kelvin on The Magic City Monday,
Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 3 (30:57):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Odd Couple
with Rob Parker and Kelvin Washington weekdays at seven pm Eastern,
four pm Pacific on Fox Sports Radio and The iHeartRadio app.
Speaker 2 (31:09):
Mary. You don't even know when this hit. This was
a tidal waves huh huh.
Speaker 1 (31:16):
You had to be there, see I couple Rob Parker
kelvin Washington on a Magic City Monday.
Speaker 2 (31:22):
The gang is back and right now it's time for
the play of the day.
Speaker 5 (31:32):
Cal Tuncker's the Queens City at Quail Hollow, Scottie Sheckler.
Speaker 2 (31:37):
It is a PGA.
Speaker 1 (31:38):
Champion, serious sexm right there on the call. That was
your tire rack play of the day. Man Scheffler was
not playing around with them this time around, absolutely not
at all. We'll get to some more about that when
you start talking about golf clubs. But right now it's
time four Shekel City.
Speaker 2 (31:58):
All right.
Speaker 4 (32:00):
I left you last time was Thursday night, so I
was two and one on Thursday night. My total is
now one thirty one and one twenty nine some over
five hundred. These of course were posted earlier before the
action started tonight. So I have the Los Angeles Dodgers
as my best bet minus one and a half hosting
(32:20):
the Diamondbacks, and with that three game losing streak against
the Angels, I'm expecting them.
Speaker 2 (32:25):
Yeah you know what I mean, that's like they lose
another one, I'd be like.
Speaker 1 (32:29):
Well, okay, who's pitching Steve the Seagred pitching tonight, because
I don't know who they got pitched.
Speaker 2 (32:33):
Yeah, that's that's definitely an issue.
Speaker 4 (32:35):
I got Pittsburgh Pirates plus one and a half runs,
and uh, I think the score right now is one
to one.
Speaker 2 (32:43):
In Pittsburgh against the Reds.
Speaker 4 (32:45):
But I got Pirates plus one and a half they
need to win two since they fired their manager, and
the Mets minus one and a half, but they're losing
up in Boston so far as three to one is
still earlier in that game.
Speaker 2 (32:56):
Because they're freezing out there. That's why. Yeah, they's selling
hot chocolate. You know it's real. I'm gonna tell you
something that's on your list.
Speaker 4 (33:03):
You don't have to be the biggest baseball fan, but
that ballpark is worth the price of do this.
Speaker 2 (33:09):
I'm dead seriously, finish this.
Speaker 4 (33:10):
And I'm gonna ask you this question, all right, all right,
So remember Met's minus one and a half runs, Pirates
plus one and a half runs, and the Dodgers minus
one and a half runs. Of course, NBA tomorrow. Remember
I'm not telling you who to bet on. I'm telling
you who I bet on. All right, So I've only
been in a handful of ballparks, you know, throughout my life.
Maybe you know, maybe a little bit by but we
(33:31):
went to an Angels game to get wed an Angels game. Yeah,
so I don't know, maybe six, seven, eight, I don't know.
Speaker 2 (33:35):
Then do the math. Give me top three four. I
have to go to like Kelvin.
Speaker 1 (33:44):
Looky, you have to start with the old school. Okay,
you'll run on quick.
Speaker 2 (33:48):
Give me five.
Speaker 4 (33:49):
I give me so Wrigley, Okay, you gotta go to
Famway Park like those two automatic.
Speaker 2 (33:55):
Remember I told you my story. I'll tell you, Okay.
Speaker 4 (33:57):
I can't what we would have done if the old
Yankee Stadium was there, but it's new and it's not.
It's still nice. But I wouldn't put done on this,
okay because bay Ruth played right field on the old
Yankees date, so that you know what I mean? Like
like you said, yeah, like that's crazy. Camden Yards beautiful.
Not a bad seat in the house. Pittsburgh one of
the best places thirty eight thousand all intimate seats, uh
(34:21):
the the the views skyline of Pittsburgh right over the river, unbelievable.
One of the best ball parks going. And then I
know they don't call it Pac Bell anymore. But in
San Francisco, whatever it's called now, I forgot what they
call it, Oracle Park. It is beautiful now it's cold, hoodie, yeah,
(34:42):
because you're underwater. And you know when the sun goes
down to northern California, it's chilly, it is. But what
a beautiful view, a beautiful ball bend. Right, those will
be my top five. So my Fenway Park story. You
were there, but you might not have been there. I
was there for the NABJ. I went to that game
where you want no not the game.
Speaker 2 (35:03):
So we went.
Speaker 1 (35:04):
They had a premiere movie, you know how sometimes so
we have a journalist conference, NABJ National Association Black Journalists
as a conference every year goes to different cities.
Speaker 2 (35:12):
This year it was in Boston.
Speaker 1 (35:15):
And there had a movie theater complex, little strip maf
you whel right across from Finway. So we all go
the bus, probably sixty seventy black folks who heading over there,
Rob g We go see a movie. You remember this
movie called Dear White People. There's a movie remember that, Yeah,
you Dear White People is the name of the movie.
Had a series two on Netflix. I believe that ended
(35:36):
up having a series.
Speaker 4 (35:37):
So I was thinking of a former quarterback, but then
go ahead, oh boy, no, go ahead, I was talking
about Oh yeah, right, okay, yeah sure.
Speaker 1 (35:49):
So we we get there, we enjoyed the movie, and
we get back and our bus is parked right at
Fenway Park and the game is getting ready to let out,
starts to let out. We get on the bus and
the bus drivers everybody on, and we say, yeah, why
is he rushing? Is yeah, we do a headcount, Yeah,
everybody everybody on. Yeah, yeah, good, Let's get the hell
out of here.
Speaker 2 (36:08):
We're like, why is he freaking out?
Speaker 1 (36:09):
He said, I'm in Boston in front of Fenway Park,
the game's letting out, and on the side of my
bus says it's a huge advertisement dear white people in
front of everybody coming out of Fenway Park, and all
you see, I swear to you roight so all reading
dear white people, and they kind of crossed their head,
like what about white people?
Speaker 2 (36:29):
And he was like, let's get the hell out of it.
We just skirt out of there.
Speaker 4 (36:33):
That wassway literally was right in front of face.
Speaker 2 (36:37):
But we also had tickets and we went to the game.
I didn't that I should have went when we were
obviously been to Comerica Park.
Speaker 4 (36:44):
But you know we're going to Cleveland this year game
the Guardians out of town, so we're gonna miss that.
Speaker 2 (36:50):
That sucks. There you have it. Well, shoot, we only
got like a minute left.
Speaker 1 (36:53):
But any any issue with them then the golf clubs
checking Scheffler McElroy, any issue with them checking those back.
My only thing is to Cheffler's point, if you're gonna
check him, check everybody's, because that gets a little weird.
We start checking clubs, you know it. They're checking their drivers,
and how do you only check him but not him?
Him but not him.
Speaker 2 (37:12):
I'm gonna check his but not his. And to me,
if you're gonna do it, do it right. Everybody come
in run.
Speaker 4 (37:16):
That's what they do now with baseball. When you come
off the mount, check check him. Nobody got nothing on there,
the brim whatever, and everybody. Okay, you see the pictures,
they already come out boom boom, They.
Speaker 2 (37:27):
Already know they're gonna be checked, and they just get
checked and it's over with. Yeah, with that, just yeah,
he's just brought up the great point of them. I
don't mind, he said his If you're gonna do it,
go all in. Just Hey, this is what we're doing.
Speaker 1 (37:38):
After search such hole or after maybe around or your
particular day, come on and we're gonna check your driver.
Because he's gotten dinged. Uh McElroy got ding that. He
didn't want to talk to anybody about it. He was upset,
which I think.
Speaker 2 (37:49):
He's more mad.
Speaker 1 (37:50):
How he's performing is coming off of that win the Masters,
you know, the Grand Slam wasn't keeping up with that.
But yeah, just to go check the club, check everybody's club. Yokitch.
Oh yeah, we gotta talk about it
