Speaker 3 (03:32):
And then yesterday they go.

Speaker 6 (03:34):
You know you can get double entres, you know you
could get you like the pork chop and the whatever
lainguini like you could, And I was like, what, So
thank god I didn't know that earlier.

Speaker 3 (03:43):
But I didn't do too bad. Actually, didn't you do
too bad? And you do a lot of walking.

Speaker 6 (03:47):
We stopped off in en Sonata and walked and walked
and walked, walking around on the yacht. So good time,
good father's day. My baby's loved up on me, and
uh so it's a good time. Man's nothing. That's the
best in the world. You look almost as dark as me,
bron Yeah, well, I mean walking, yes, And first of all,
it's a beautiful thing.

Speaker 3 (04:02):
Okay, I didn't say anything. Just making sure you want
to hit on my own skin. I'm just making sure
we knew that. You know, it's a young girl that's
listening right now. Who needed to hear that? Gonna barri
to the juice? Right, you have it? But that man, good, good, good, great.
I like you you looking, Father dais right now. Little
Mary and Donny looked real golfye with the Brooks brother.

(04:23):
The brother had a nice little blow over. Man, you
look you look like you went nice. I did not
do anything right now, would you say?

Speaker 8 (04:34):
What is that?

Speaker 3 (04:36):
What is this? Got him done with red me? He
found out her found out? Stop it? What's her name? Kirsten?
All right, Sarah? I don't know Rachel, No, no, no, can't Karen?
Is that our name? Karen? Why are you asking us?

Speaker 8 (04:51):
No?

Speaker 3 (04:51):
Because that's also real quick? Move on? Do you golf
it on? Can you go?

Speaker 9 (04:54):
No?

Speaker 4 (04:55):
I did not like so if I came up on
a nice four you know, hey, we don't.

Speaker 3 (05:00):
You don't ask me. But I just don't have any
clubs I sold them. I don't do it anymore. Just
make sometimes, you know.

Speaker 4 (05:07):
And I want to just make sure yeah, because I
don't mean you know, but you got clubs. I got
rid of my club so once you get rid of
your clubs?

Speaker 8 (05:16):
All right?

Speaker 3 (05:16):
All right, let's welcome into the couple.

Speaker 4 (05:18):
Queer on this Magic City Monday and is our producer
and for the ailing Rob g will hopefully be back tomorrow.
Good Steve de Seger's at the anchor desk, Elijah, who
is our social media guru of them, there we go
and on the ones and twos?

Speaker 3 (05:40):
Why your buggin? All right, let's get it started.

Speaker 4 (05:45):
Game five of the NBA Finals is tonight, and I
knew Calvin would have this obvious take, So I'm gonna
let you go first because this is as obvious as
it gets.

Speaker 3 (05:55):
But go ahead, mister thunder and five? And are they?
Are they winning tonight? Is this okay?

Speaker 1 (06:03):
No?

Speaker 3 (06:03):
I mean you thought I called the series and five. No,
that's what I say. Game five. You said that I
don't know the question, the question of the original original
take was my five? Correct? Yeah, Thunder gonna win Game five.
I didn't know you got sentence. You're a teacher.

Speaker 4 (06:21):
Ian was one of your students, has to say, Ian
knows what I was talking about.

Speaker 6 (06:25):
Who was winning in the S series and how many games?
I thought, you said, who do you have in? I
was okay, five, I got the Thunder. But originally you
made your original pick and it was but I said,
I can go, I can go six. No watch, So
I'm on the cruise and I didn't do a shack.
I actually decided even though I'm on vacation.

Speaker 3 (06:43):
Whyn't you just chilling out one watch, laying back drinking. Yeah.
They had a bar and so we my brother in
law and I were just at the sports bar hanging.
I was really funny. So it was a family.

Speaker 6 (06:55):
Yeah, my mother it was. The reason was for my
mother in law seventieth Okay, so that was so that
was that was the reason for it.

Speaker 3 (07:04):
I'm just hoping it happened to fall on Father's Day weekend.

Speaker 6 (07:06):
Yeah, perfect, exactly so we're on the morning boat and
brother and I watching the game, and obviously we had
one craze Pacer fan, one craze Thunder fan in the bar,
so that made it fun to just see them yelling
at each other the whole time. But watching watching game four, man,
it obviously really good game. And then the Pacers start
to break away late in the third and all the

(07:26):
way get up to a a ten eleven point lead
head and get as they close out the third, and
as we got closer to the fourth. But a couple
of things I start to note, Man, I just start
to think this number one, when you got a double
point lead, especially in the NBA Finals Game four, you
got a chance to go up three to one.

Speaker 3 (07:45):
Row. I don't care if it's a Thunder or the Pacers,
or if there were the Pistons or the Lakers.

Speaker 6 (07:48):
I will be saying this. You've got to get it done.
You gotta win that game a ten point lead heading
in you know to the fourth. You absolutely gotta do
it on at home too. That's a big, big game
for you to win. We know the statistics winning you're
up three to one. Aside from those Warriors twenty sixteen,
so that was the first big letdown right there, you're
doing this in front of your home crowd.

Speaker 3 (08:08):
And also more importantly, I think heading in it tonight.

Speaker 6 (08:11):
I think the Pacers are allowing Jalen Williams j dub
they call him to get into that Robin mode. We
discussed where I said, well, who's for the night and
night out Robin. He's starting to get that, he's getting
in the paint when he needs to, He's starting to
get comfortable. And they showed us that he has the
ball in his hand more now the last couple of
games than he asked throughout his whole career, and I

(08:32):
think that was something they liked to see.

Speaker 3 (08:34):
They being the thunder. They liked him bringing the ball
of him, orchestrating the offense, him getting things going so
that he's getting more comfortable, getting more touches, feeling like
he's part of the game.

Speaker 6 (08:42):
To the tune of twenty seven points to the tune
of again starting to get into the paint and live
in the paint, check gets comfortable fifteen and fifteen. I
believe it was from chet and now he's out there
blocking shots, getting rebound, scoring and starting to feel and
make his presence, and when you start to look at
what we've seen in the last fifty one champions, fifty
other fifty one had top ten defenses. Well, this team

(09:05):
is a historically great defensive team. Forty eight of the
last fifty one champions have been in the top ten offense.
They are extremely efficient in prolific offensively, leading with the
leading scorer in the MVP. So to me, I can't
see how all of these things rob check to where
they're going to now lose this series. Now, they might

(09:25):
lose tonight, but I can't see them losing the series.
Where if the Pacers won Game four, go up three
to one. By history, pretty much except for the Warriors,
they pretty much win this thing. So I'm just looking
at the dynamics of an all time great defense, and
they're looking at the numbers the likes of four. Both
you and I were there with those Pistons teams, the
Boston team at all eight with Kevin Gardnett and them

(09:47):
again another prolific defense, and also a couple of those
Spurs team history shown with those types of defenses, you're
that prolific, you win these things. Couple with the leading scorer,
couple with the MVP. I just think the let a
huge one go and a huge opportunity Game four and
Friday night.

Speaker 4 (10:03):
Sure I understand that, but you gotta be realistic about
it too.

Speaker 3 (10:07):
And the thunder we're playing.

Speaker 4 (10:08):
For their lives, which doesn't It's not shocking if you
would have told me that the Patients would have been
up three to one in the NBA Finals against the
best team, best defensive team, all that none of that
would make sense, Okay, that that would be And not
that I didn't think that they were going to win,
Sure I did. But what I really think about it,
and if you're really honest with yourself, the idea that

(10:29):
the Pacers would be up to three to one, where
they've been like almost double digit underdogs every game, Like
that's how much Vegas has given people. Seven to eight.
No tonight, it's not and a half points, So they're underdogs.
So it would be they wouldn't be working from the
underdog scheme if they were up three to one and

(10:50):
they had such an easy time winning three of the
first four games, and I mean easy, just the idea
of winning it. So to me, this does not change
like where they can go and what they can do,
which is to win it as an underdog, because that's
what they've done the entire year.

Speaker 3 (11:06):
This fits them. Actually, you talked about zero four. We
talk about it all the time.

Speaker 4 (11:10):
Because I was a writer in Detroit, columnists in Detroit
and radio guy and you you know, living there and
the two thousand and four Pistons and Chauncey Billups had
a very popular saying back then, if it ain't rough,
it ain't right. And that's what it was always with
the Pistons. It was never cake, a piece of cake,
or easy like ever. And and in this case, I

(11:34):
would I would have been shocked had they.

Speaker 3 (11:36):
Gone up three to one, and it's just a foregone conclusion.

Speaker 4 (11:39):
And so I look at this as a great opportunity
for them two two, two.

Speaker 3 (11:44):
Out of three.

Speaker 4 (11:45):
And the choice the thing is you try to win
this game and then you could close it out in
game six at home, because that's what I picked originally.

Speaker 3 (11:52):
That they would have to win it in six.

Speaker 4 (11:54):
I mean, the the the obvious easier way would be
up three one, lose tonight and then go. But that
that doesn't fit with what they've done and why they're
Cinderella and why the slippers fit all year round. So
I haven't changed my mind at all about them.

Speaker 3 (12:09):
Disappointed, yes, because they had a lead.

Speaker 4 (12:12):
That's ten points in the yeah, ten points in the NBA,
and the fourth quarter just isn't a lot anymore with
the three ball, it's changed in the old age. You
had a good lead that that those kind of leads
aren't safe anymore. And we've seen it all playoffs, teams
coming down from back from twenty points and fourth uh
the Pacers beat the Knicks.

Speaker 3 (12:33):
They were down.

Speaker 4 (12:33):
Fourteen with two thirty to thirty eight to go fourteen
to thirty eight and they won the game like they
were down nine points right to uh ok see with
fifty seconds and they won that game like crazy, unbelievable things.

Speaker 3 (12:51):
So the idea that they lost is not the end
of the world.

Speaker 4 (12:54):
And give Shay and the Thunder, they'd been the best
team all year. It would have been unbelievable to me
had they But I still think that the Pacers are
on pace to shock the world because that's what they've
been doing all year, and I do expect them to
win in six. As I originally picked where are you
Are the Pacers cooked? As Kelvin says that because they

(13:16):
didn't win Friday night. They're cooked. There's no way they're
gonna come back and win this championship. Yeah, two games now,
and okay, see, and I go back to the the
Cavaliers who were down three to one two games in
Oakland back then, including Game seven in Oakland, and they

(13:37):
won the next three games. Can the Pacers win two games?
Lebron ain't walking through that.

Speaker 3 (13:42):
That's okay. They don't need Lebron.

Speaker 4 (13:44):
What they've done in this past postseason has been unbelievable. Absolutely,
and that is what it's going to take is a
herculean victory tonight and then they go back home. All right,
We want to hear from you on a Magic City Monday.

Speaker 3 (13:56):
Where are you? Are the Pacers cooked or no?

Speaker 4 (14:00):
They have the thunder right way they want them eight
seven seven ninety nine on Fox eight seven seven nine
nine six sixty three sixty nine. It is the Odd Couple,
Rob Parker kelvin Washington on a Magic City Monday.

Speaker 3 (14:12):
So you know what you need to do, stick and stay.

Speaker 10 (14:16):
I think unless you think of Lebron James walking through
the door in the US event.

Speaker 2 (14:20):
He eight be sure to catch live editions of The
Odd Couple with Rob Parker and Kelvin Washington weekdays at
seven pm Eastern four pm Pacific on Fox Sports Radio
and the iHeartRadio app.

Speaker 3 (14:33):
Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 6 (14:35):
It's the Odd Couple, Rop and Kelvin on a Magic
City Monday.

Speaker 3 (14:39):
Thanks for rocking with us.

(15:02):
while you're at it. Eight seven seventh ninety out on Fox,
we talked about the crews I was on. They had
some really good food. The short rid was cooked right,
and I think the pacers are cooked. Rob says, shut up, Kevin,
that ain't the case. Eight seven, seven ninety out on Fox.

Speaker 4 (15:16):
We'll say you all right, Marty in Kentucky, you're on
the couple of Fox Sports Radio. I hope you had
a great Father's Day, Marty, Yes.

Speaker 7 (15:25):
Pretty good. We played in the pulled a lot and
shot some hoops in the pool and out of the pool.

Speaker 8 (15:32):
Just if I had my way, I just.

Speaker 7 (15:34):
Spend all Father's Day in the gym with my dad,
all my kids cheating hoop.

Speaker 3 (15:40):
That's awesome, it.

Speaker 4 (15:41):
Man, that's so man. That's all you need. You don't
need any big, big deal. Life is about people, anyway.
I tell people a thousand times. Stop with all the
other stuff. The only thing that matters in life is
spending time with people that you love and care about.

Speaker 3 (15:55):
That's all that matters. Completely agree, That's.

Speaker 7 (15:58):
Right, guys. I'm I didn't feel that the Phasers blew it.
I really think and I and I had bragged on
Carlisle this entire series, and he really impressed me. I
think he's fantastic. But I will admit dad got I
think that they pronounced the name, made a great made
a great switch up at the end of that game

(16:19):
that I really think want them the game because Hallie
was cooking. He knows he's a speak to point guard
sixty five with a good Wings fan, and he was
driving to the hole and all that nasty English, all
those shots were just dropping for him. He was cooking.
He was carrying the offense and they switched over Homegard
on him and he had enough lengths to keep him

(16:41):
from pulling up on the jumper. And Carlaut will have
an adjustment to that tonight and that would be the
interesting thing to see if there's things tight down the
stretch and they do that again. But I'm really enjoying
the coaching decisions, all the x's and o's of this series.
I hate it that the ratings aren't good because if
you love basketball and you see these two minds going

(17:04):
to battle with with these squads that you would love,
you love this series.

Speaker 4 (17:09):
Right, But but you noticed, Marty's the casuals, they just
they're not interesting.

Speaker 3 (17:13):
You know that. It's it's it's not the diehards ever,
the casuals.

Speaker 6 (17:17):
Yeah, and people, and this has been some good basketball, man,
It's to Marty, I think it's been a lot of
team basketball. So you're not having those individuals starting like
nobody's dropping forty ten threes in the game, and so
the casuals and then we don't are interested that something
you might see with.

Speaker 4 (17:31):
Studs after and even after Game one, which was ultra
exciting at the end in three seconds right and then
nobody and then they have a.

Speaker 3 (17:38):
Less less people watching the next game, which was very telling,
very telling.

Speaker 4 (17:42):
Jack in South Carolina, You're on the couple of Fox
Sports Radio.

Speaker 3 (17:46):
What's up, Jack, Hey, what's going on wrong?

Speaker 8 (17:48):
What's up? Kill Man?

Speaker 3 (17:49):
What's up? Man? Hey?

Speaker 5 (17:52):
Hey?

Speaker 10 (17:52):
Happy to lead you to.

Speaker 8 (17:56):
Anyway.

Speaker 3 (17:56):
You know, they called me daddy. They called me daddy
once they get your approval on my master car.

Speaker 6 (18:01):
I don't know when I was at the port, Jack,
when I was at the port, they were like, oh,
you do the show, Rob.

Speaker 3 (18:07):
They said you might ask some kids in these ports
around here.

Speaker 10 (18:09):
Oh god, yeah, yeah, yeah, I gotta saying, Rob like
to give out those scratch offs and gift cards.

Speaker 3 (18:16):
He's got a little Jeter bag at the little basket
on the walkout.

Speaker 10 (18:22):
But yeah, man, but Robers from Man, I really want
the Paces to win it, even though o case he
got two of my boys, because I'm a calm Perry fans,
you man, whever I go and he got two of
my boys.

Speaker 8 (18:35):
But I get deep down, I.

Speaker 10 (18:36):
Really want the Paces to win, you know, even though
they didn't get away us tonight because it would have
been three right.

Speaker 8 (18:41):
But.

Speaker 4 (18:44):
Right, it would have been unbelievable if they would have
been up three, am I right?

Speaker 10 (18:50):
Yes, yeah, we want but they need to get away
from me.

Speaker 8 (18:54):
If you showed you what he.

Speaker 6 (18:55):
Yeah, he closed that thing out. Make you big shots
knocking down free throws, thank you Jack?

Speaker 3 (19:00):
Yeah yeah, But I know I'm agreeing.

Speaker 6 (19:02):
I like what you're saying, Rob about had we seen
them up three one, you'd be like, wait, whoa that
would that would have been shocking, But that would have
been go into the fourth up ten or you know,
it was right around the fourth with up ten at
one point.

Speaker 3 (19:13):
I get that, got it. I feel like that's when
you because you don't want this to happen.

Speaker 4 (19:17):
But that's not But they're an underdog and that and
I'm just saying like like, like it would be against
everything you talked about, the numbers and the thunder and
what they've done all year and the defense and the
right like like that would have all been out the window,
Like what how in the world did this happen? You
gonna remember if they win a lot of people consider
it one of the biggest upsets ever. I will be

(19:39):
like that, like that's how big it is. So for
them to be up three to one wouldn't make sense.
If they battle back wing tonight and then close them out.
I think people will be like, Wow, the Pacers were
pretty amazing.

Speaker 3 (19:49):
And that's why I don't have them winning now.

Speaker 6 (19:51):
I just feel like that was and however it would
have happened, but they had a shot right then and
there to do that to go up three one, but
they still they slitten.

Speaker 3 (19:58):
It's been a great series. Shoots is all you can
ask for.

Speaker 6 (20:01):
If you're the NBA, maybe you figure if we gets
closer and closer the game five, six, seven, maybe more
people will tune in.

Speaker 3 (20:06):
Who's coming up to bat for the Yanks. I look
at that Carlos hasn't played all year at elbow issues.
He's up in both arms too. Yeah, second to third
and I know that would be crazy. Listen it happens,
and also show Hay's.

Speaker 4 (20:20):
Going to pitch tonight. He's the uh uh open front
you'll get coming. Yeah, we'll have some fun with that
in just a little bit. Speaking of I'm sure Steve
will have that for us as well.

Speaker 6 (20:30):
Old polonies on the other side of Steve, so we
can talk some more hoops, Steve Sager, what's trended?

Speaker 3 (20:34):
Haysteve, Hello, and Stanton.

Speaker 9 (20:36):
Just grounded out to end the inning, so the Yankees
and the Angels are scoreless after one. Washington has lost
eight in a row. They're down two nothing to Colorado
in the top of the fourth. Rockies, with a record
of fourteen and fifty seven. Phillies are tied one one
at Miami. Top of the third, Trey Turner a leadoff
homer for the Phills, who've won four in a row.
The idle Mets have lost three straight. They are first

(20:58):
in the NLAs two and a half games over the Phillies.
Baltimore at Tampa Bay about to start. Then there are
three late games, including the Dodgers in sho Heyotani opening
a four game series in LA against San Diego. Dylan
Cease will start for the Padres. Otani, the opener, may
only pitch an inning or so, but he hasn't pitched
in a game in nearly two years. Otani had a

(21:18):
second Tommy John surgery in twenty twenty three.

Speaker 3 (21:21):
He is the Dodger DH He is.

Speaker 9 (21:23):
Leading off by the way, Otani's former interpreter reported to prison.
Ibe Muzuhara, was sentenced to fifty seven months for stealing
nearly seventeen million dollars from Otani. The Giants will activate
pitcher Justin Verlander to start on Wednesday. The leading vote
getters for the All Star Game or Show, Heyotani and
the NLA are and judge in the al at College
Baseball's World Series. Arkansas pitched a no hitter today to

(21:45):
eliminate Murray State three nothing. Gage Wood struck out nineteen.
The only other no hitters at the College World Series
occurred in nineteen fifty in nineteen sixty. Wood had a
perfect game today until a hit batter in the eighth.
LSU against UCLA tonight, and the Bruins are ahead of
LSU already three nothing in the first inning. The winner
faces Arkansas on Tuesday. And by the way, we've got

(22:08):
NBA Finals Game five coming up in an hour with
Oklahoma City hosting Indiana. Series tied at two. The w
NBA is off Stanley Cup Game six is Tuesday. US
men's soccer plays again on Thursday at the FIFA Club
World Cup. Today, Chelsea beat LAFC two nothing in Atlanta.

Speaker 3 (22:25):
Back to you, Thank you, Steve, Appreciate you. It's the
odd couple.

Speaker 6 (22:29):
Rock Parker kelvin Washington on the Magic City Monday, and
as always we got our guy right now. Olden Polonese,
former NBA VET, Fox Sports Radio BI analysts. You give
him a follow on X Olden Polonese one big. Oh
what's up man?

Speaker 3 (22:42):
What's happening? Doing great? How are you?

Speaker 8 (22:45):
I'm good? I'm good, no complaint.

Speaker 3 (22:47):
How was your father's day?

Speaker 8 (22:49):
Fathersday was wonderful? Choiet. Kids took me out to e
I eight.

Speaker 3 (22:56):
There you going moment. That's about all you need, right,
would you pray to him? Did they pay?

Speaker 8 (23:01):
Yes?

Speaker 3 (23:02):
Of course you paid? Of course?

Speaker 8 (23:03):
Right?

Speaker 3 (23:04):
Yes?

Speaker 7 (23:06):
Paid?

Speaker 3 (23:06):
Okay, all right, that's awesome, he said. I trained them
up well.

Speaker 4 (23:10):
And I'm gonna say this, it doesn't matter how much
money you make. Seriously, old and you you that and
whatever situation you're in to be treated once in a while,
there's nothing wrong with that, am I right?

Speaker 2 (23:22):
Olden?

Speaker 3 (23:23):
Like sup?

Speaker 4 (23:25):
Even if it's a hamburger or a lunch or whatever it is,
like you, Yeah, that's all it is.

Speaker 3 (23:31):
I will add to that, even if you bought it
every now and again, just to now, like hey, guys,
they can say hey, thank you, thank you boy.

Speaker 4 (23:40):
I tell you, I'll tell you this real quick. I
took out Glenn braggs to go eat in Saint Louis.
He's playing, he's a left fielder for the Cincinnati Reds,
and the newspaper is going to pay the bill, you
know what I mean?

Speaker 3 (23:51):
And whatever.

Speaker 4 (23:52):
So I'm like, let's go out, we'll go have lunch
before the game. And Saint Louis all this, and and
he was like expecting to pay the check and I'm like, no, no, no,
I got it. He was just so taken aback because
he hadn't been out with anybody, do you know what
I mean, old and who had.

Speaker 2 (24:08):
Paid the bill.

Speaker 3 (24:09):
He was really like, what really are you paying it?
I said, dude, I got it. The newspaper will pay it. Man,
it goes along. I'll give us a cup of coffee.

Speaker 6 (24:17):
Oh then, man, we were just talking about Game four
NBA Finals, which has been a good good finals, good series.

Speaker 3 (24:22):
Here we are too too. I feel like the pace too.
When everybody had the thunder and five people, a lot
of people did.

Speaker 6 (24:30):
I thought it was a great opportunity for the pacers
to try to go ahead and put their foot on
their neck, got up ten. You know, everybody's feeling good
in the building. Halliburton was starting to cook and then
the Thunder came back and showed you why they were
the best team in the NBA. And I feel like
that was a chance let slip out of the Pacers hands,
could be over for them. Now Rob doesn't think so,
and old.

Speaker 4 (24:48):
And I'm just saying they weren't supposed to be up
three to one. They're under That would have been incredible
had they won that game and been up three to
one on the Thunder.

Speaker 3 (24:56):
But where are you going into game five? Who was
the advantage?

Speaker 8 (25:00):
Well, my running narrative has been this, it's all about
the whistles, and it has been. I mean, when they
were up eight and there was a stretch there where things,
I mean, those whistles were really interesting and it's a shame.
Now the guys are playing really good basketball. I mean,

(25:21):
I've enjoyed this finals more than a finals I think
in a long time, just because the two teams came
really hard, playing really smart, playing really well. But at
the same time, some of these whistles, Man, they just
don't make sense to me, and it changes the flow
of the game, everything about the game. And again I'm
not gonna say that's all it is, but it's just

(25:43):
the timing of it all. It's one thing to blow
the whistle in the first quarter. It's another to blow
it in the fourth quarter, you know, And there's nothing there.
You know. I'm watching guys get hit. I'm not trying
to take anything. Some shit goils out a great player,
but that for him, shub he does every time he's

(26:04):
got it up. It's gotta be something. It cannot be
a nothing call because that's an advantage for him.

Speaker 3 (26:11):
I'll tell you this next year, and this is what
I'll tell you.

Speaker 4 (26:15):
Watch and see and that will be interesting if he
gets that again after watching him throughout it, if he
wins the championship, you know, teams are going to be
older and like politic and saying, look at this, this
cannot be a no call exactly.

Speaker 8 (26:31):
And it's a shame because it changes the dynamics of
the game, I honestly believe. And I thought it was
gonna happen. I thought Indiana was gonna go up three
one and then I was like, okay, you know, then
they'll probably lose two games and then we go to seven.
But it's like love to be too right now again,

(26:52):
It's it's all on the flow. You cannot stop a
team you know that's rolling really nicely and then all
of a sudden you start blowing which these crazy calls.
That's what's that's what's bothering me right now about this series.

Speaker 3 (27:05):
Yeah, me, I was going to ask you this. It's funny.

Speaker 2 (27:07):
I was.

Speaker 6 (27:07):
I was listening to some talks over the last couple
of days talk about it and bringing up the name
of Scott Foster and it doesn't happen. Yeah, a lot
of people were Fosters there. The extender was in this game,
and he know they called him extender.

Speaker 3 (27:20):
He's known for you know, long a series. What was
that guy for Brady? What was his name? The guy
who used to blow up the balls? What was his nickname?
Shoot the Yeah, the flat inflator? Was he the inflator?

Speaker 6 (27:36):
Inflator? You know that was his nickname? Later the extended
so to two parter one. Do you buy this narrative
that you know, oh, man, there's certain refs coming in.
He's gonna do it differently. And man, when you were playing,
was there a certain ref for Crew that you went,
we're gonna be in for a long name Flator.

Speaker 3 (27:54):
Remember they're taking the air. You're right, I'm slipping.

Speaker 8 (27:57):
I mean, we all knew who guys were. And again,
and I don't want people to think that, you know,
stuff like this doesn't happen. Just like anything else anywhere
in the world, there's gonna be you know, certain individuals
that you know, they pushed the envelope on things. You know,
we've always seen Tim down to here. Okay, So I'm

(28:18):
like you guys are surprised. The surprise for me was
that he was the only one name to be very
honest with you. And again, I'm not trying to do
do on the NBA because I don't play anymore. No,
that's not my intent. My intent is the truth. The
truth is what it is. You know, I'm not going
to sit here and act like, oh, he was the
only one, because you can't get away with it by yourself.

(28:40):
It's almost impossible, especially when there's two other guys that
you have to you know, that hold you accountable. So no,
I don't believe it. But at the same time, we
had certain referees, you know, one Homer Hugh. We knew
when he refereed the home keeps getting all questionable calls.
That's why they call him Homer. You because the home

(29:01):
team will get the calls, they'll get the benefit of
the doubt. And so to me, it's stuff like that
that's been going on. So Scott Foster is no different.
He's one of them. I mean, it's just that he's
out there doing stuff. Some of the calls are just
you know, it's funny. I think I kind of mentioned
earlier or alluded to it earlier. He'll make some calls
right for you to be like, oh man, all right,

(29:22):
he's calling a good game until the right call needs
to be made, right right.

Speaker 4 (29:28):
I'll tell you this in two thousand and four, I'll
never forget it. The writers were in Larry Brown's office
before the game and he's like, who are the referees tonight?
You know, people shoot? And I can't remember the referee
who he looked at. He goes, we got no shot tonight,
and everybody's like, Larry, what are you talking about.

Speaker 3 (29:49):
We will not be winning tonight. He says.

Speaker 4 (29:51):
In the postseason, I think I've won one game in
ten in the postseason with this guy referend Like he
knew what exactly. When we did the research to find
out he was right on it. He was like one
to nine in postseason games that.

Speaker 6 (30:04):
I mean, you heard what Chris Paul said against Foster.
He was like one in thirty or whatever. There's some
crazy record. Crazy, Yeah, it happens. Olden Polynices, I guess,
and the couple Rod Parker kelvin Washington on a Magic
City Monday.

Speaker 4 (30:17):
Olden Rick Carlisle and the job that he's done incredible.

Speaker 3 (30:22):
We know he's a good coach, but I think.

Speaker 4 (30:24):
Oh yeah, this this series, in this postseason has really
put a spotlight.

Speaker 3 (30:29):
Remember he was in Dallas with Luca that didn't work out.
He got out of.

Speaker 4 (30:33):
Dodge literally and he's done a great job. Last year
the Pacers were in the Eastern Conference finals. The next year,
now are in the championship. Talk about Rick Carlile and
what he does.

Speaker 8 (30:45):
I mean, of course, you know the University of Virginia. No,
he's done an amazing job. You know, I'm never gonna
take that away from Rick and very Shad. I'm so
proud of him because he's he knows the game. I mean,
he's a championship coach. He's put he's he's pushed all

(31:06):
the right buttons, I think except for one, and that
was Game four. Even with everything that was happening with
the Witchers and everything else. I just thought there was
a stretch in the game where he maybe got a
little bit over confident with his decisions. But I thought
Myles Turner should not have been in the game. There
was a stretch in the fourth quarter Miles Turner was

(31:27):
in there, and he's given us some good minutes, but
the floor of that game needed a smaller lineup, and
I just thought that he and then he finally did
take him out, but from the City had already like
got done their momentum run and so it was a
little bit too late. But that's that's probably the only

(31:47):
thing he's done wrong. And but again, he can't control
the players. You know, he played Maclin game four, he
didn't have the same game as he had in game three,
So that's you know, that's neither him. No, But I
think so overall, he's done an incredible job just managing
minutes and seeing how the floor the game is and

(32:08):
taking advantage. You know, But I gotta give credit to
my man Dad.

Speaker 3 (32:12):
No.

Speaker 8 (32:12):
Also, yeah, he's done a nice job too, you know,
to get into too too.

Speaker 6 (32:17):
I tell you what, man, it's gonna be a fun
series like you mentioned. We were saying, all the real
Hooper has been enjoying it. Last quick tke ten seconds.
Who you got winning tonight?

Speaker 8 (32:25):
I got Indiana coming back. I mean it's been alternating anyway,
so I'm just gonna go with that alternating factor.

Speaker 3 (32:31):
There you have it. That's a good point.

Speaker 6 (32:33):
They both keep coming back all postseason long after loss
one Teams five and oh one teams now six and
zero after a loss.

Speaker 3 (32:38):
Appreciate it, man, all that. We'll do it again.

Speaker 8 (32:40):
All right, take it, thank you.

Speaker 6 (32:41):
We got Shekel City on the way. See how Rob did.
And we've also got to dive a little deeper into
some baseball news as well. Seea cup of Robin Kelvin

right now, that's it already. Yeah, this is this is
this is definitely one to get everybody going.

Speaker 3 (33:18):
It's the hot couple. He's Rob.

Speaker 6 (33:19):
I'm Kevin on a Magic City Monday. This was probably
when that goes up in Magic City. And right now
the side for Shekel City.

Speaker 2 (33:27):
Welcome to Shekel City, the home base for Rob Parker's
daily Dix against the spread.

Speaker 4 (33:38):
Alright on Friday one and two. Okay, but I'm still
over five hundred and one sixty two and one fifty seven.

Speaker 3 (33:45):
A nice little cushion. Yeup tonight. Now, the Yankees got
swept in Boston. They did, so I got the Yankees
minus one and a half Bruns.

Speaker 4 (33:53):
They're hosting the Angels at Yankee Stadium tonight in New York.
So I got the Yankees minus one and a half.
I got the Pacers plus nine and a half. I
expect him to win, boy the ball game. I'll take
the nine and a half. Two.

Speaker 3 (34:06):
I was gonna say the nine and a half.

Speaker 4 (34:08):
I can understand that with it and uh show as
starting the opener might pitch one or two winnings tonight. Yeah,
hasn't pitched his twenty twenty three. I got the Padres
plus one and a half runs. She said about it,
get it dollars early.

Speaker 3 (34:22):
Well, he hadn't pitched his twenty twenty three. But he's
also superhuman.

Speaker 6 (34:26):
Okay, last time I remember pitching, he was striking out
Mike Trouts.

Speaker 3 (34:31):
Last thing I remember.

Speaker 4 (34:32):
Padres plus one and a half, Pacers plus nine and
a half, and the Yankees plus one and a half.
And remember Kelvin, what's that. I'm not telling you who
to bet on, I'm telling you who I bet on.

Speaker 3 (34:44):
All right, there, you have a shekel Citia's time now
for your tire rec Player of the Day.

Speaker 11 (34:51):
I had a swing and a fly ball left field,
rode it back into his laft Deckna God, oh, it's cleared.
It cleared for Castianos. It had just enough legs and
it's a grand slam for Nick Castianos. As the Phillies
breaking wide open here at the bottom of the sixth it's.

Speaker 6 (35:09):
Ten to two Phillies. Radio there Nick Cassianos with the
grand slam.

Speaker 3 (35:14):
That is with Tiger. He's really had a good career.

Speaker 6 (35:17):
Yep, ti Iraq Play of the day right there and
is brought to you by Tirerek. For over forty years,
Tirek has been helping customers find the right tires for how,
what and where they drive shit fast and free back
by free Road has a protection with convenient insulation options
like mobile tire installation. Tiereck dot comedy is the way
tire buying should be. Rob Some baseball news too big,

(35:38):
break it away, no doubt.

Speaker 4 (35:40):
The San Francisco Giants, and I'm gonna give bus to Polzer.
You know, this is his first year running the team,
and hey, they're surprising. On Friday when they beat the Dodgers,
they actually moved into first place in the NL West,
which tells you how to well, the Johns have been playing,
sorry about that, but they also, let's be honest, they've
been having trouble getting at big time playing.

Speaker 3 (36:03):
Offered Judge a ton of money who's from that area,
the Bay area in northern California, and he turned them
down to stay with the Yankees.

Speaker 4 (36:13):
And they offered somebody else a lot of money least
I can't remember who was, but they got turned down
in that situation. Roefield Devers is a really good all start.

Speaker 3 (36:25):
They make a big they made they made a big
offer for him.

Speaker 4 (36:28):
So they've tried to get Rockfield Devers and they get
him in the train and they gave up like four
players and all that stuff, which is fine.

Speaker 3 (36:37):
Here, here's the one thing I know that's going out there.

Speaker 4 (36:40):
Who's to blame on why Rockfield Devers, who's going to
be an All Stars, had a great slow start but
had a great year. The Red Sox are the blaming
this whole thing. And Kelvin I'm gonna say this. I
know a lot of people like, well, when they tell
you to move from third base to first base, you're
supposed to just get your glove and go run over
there and do it and be a team player. But
the Red Sox, you gotta be honest and talk to

(37:03):
somebody first.

Speaker 3 (37:05):
Give him respect. He's an All Start playing for this
this franchise, he was, and they didn't do that.

Speaker 4 (37:11):
You know, they knew they wanted to move him before
they got the spring training, and they acted like they
didn't know. Then they were like, well take ground balls.
At first, He's like what, Like, he's been playing third
base for them. He not the greatest third baseman, But
there's a way of dealing with people and talking with them,
and I don't think they gave him that kind of respect.

(37:34):
And so there was a big issue, and I guess
he had eventually at some point asked to be traded,
and so they made the trade. But the Red sox too.
They've done a couple of things. There's the team that
traded Mookie Betts Raphael Devers, like they've gotten rid of
some big time players.

Speaker 3 (37:50):
How do you trade Mookie Bets? When they traded him,
I was shocked.

Speaker 6 (37:53):
They they've been making some moves that you know, you
either view it as this is just how good team operate.
Anybody can go, you know, we have a plan. We
have a game plan, and this is how we're going
to execute it. Uh and and that's how we're going
to continue to move and you can be with us
for a few years. And that's just almost like they're
cross town the Patriots, where you know, hey, it's the Patriots.

Speaker 3 (38:14):
Way and we where they get rid of you earlier
than later. That could be that. But Devers too good.
You mentioned how good he is all Star.

Speaker 6 (38:21):
I think he's led them in RBI's the last five
seasons and he's only twenty seven and he's only don't.

Speaker 4 (38:27):
Forget uh Xanderbrogos that let go to San Diego, so
that those are like their last three stars.

Speaker 3 (38:35):
They've let all of them go. So that's what it
becomes a conversation of what exactly again are they the
president are just saying, we it's the numbers thing for us,
both numbers money and both numbers. And because people are
looking at the numb money, they just freed up two
hundred and fifty two hundred and fifty million dollars thirty seven.

Speaker 6 (38:53):
But yeah fifty, yeah, yep, And they just freed up
that bunch of money. So what are they preparing for
as well? So yeah too fifty You're right, two hundred
and fifty million dollars for him. So that's a great
bul going back to the giants into this. Oh yeah,
you're getting it back to continue to try it in
their minds hopefully keep a lead. You're bringing a guy
and that can lead your team now for years. He's

(39:14):
only twenty seven years.

Speaker 3 (39:15):
Old, young guy. Yeah, you got him in his prime.
You got him at a fair deal considering the.

Speaker 4 (39:19):
Town where and what people are getting paid now, Like
that contract was big.

Speaker 3 (39:24):
It ain't big now, you know what I mean.

Speaker 6 (39:26):
And so yeah, yeah, they had to give up a
little bit, but that anyway, you got to give the get.
You got to give the get when you're getting somebody
that talented, that young, and you'll be having them for
some time in the division where you're sick of the
Dodgers winning it, you know, or the Padres nipping at
their heels as one of the right. The Giants are like,
we're a big, big time city and just posy golden years,
you know, and they look like we want to get.

Speaker 4 (39:46):
Back to that, and bust a posy. I mean, they
got to be loving him in San Francisco.

Speaker 3 (39:51):
That's always cool when the guy who kind of walks
right into the front office after being a player and
making moves, making moves and just you know, just the
hometown hero and continues to do his thing. So that's cool.
We'll see how that trade works out. If you're the Dodgers,
you're liking and speaking of the Dodgers, could be special
for them tonight, right, we'll tell you why.
