Speaker 7 (04:12):
Well I'm still you get that call, okay, Rob, that hey,

Speaker 6 (04:20):

Speaker 7 (04:20):
By the way, speaking of the listener, shout out to
Phil I was at the dentist office.

Speaker 3 (04:26):
I thought that ran onto film first, No, I thought, no,
he looked more like pres Phiel.

Speaker 7 (04:30):
He looked a little younger, and uh. I walked right out,
said what something?

Speaker 6 (04:33):
How you doing?

Speaker 7 (04:34):
And he oh snap, and he just kind of does
the whole danceing. Oh man, I listened to you man,
You and Rob and a couple and just goes on
and on and all. And the whole dnnist office. Who
I've obviously I've been there and they're like, oh wait,
is he somebody do we need to do? We need
to change up some things how we do things. So Rob,
I'm working on getting you a free tooth. I said,

(04:58):
y'all come take care of my book.

Speaker 3 (05:00):
Real quick, and I need it. You know, I'm just
shying him.

Speaker 7 (05:04):
So but shot to Philly said he listens, he rocks
with us man, and he said he loves when I
actually get on here and start singing stupid songs with you,
because he said I can carry a note. And then
he said, no way. Now he wanted me to tell
you that.

Speaker 3 (05:17):
I think that has to go on my tombstone. Right.

Speaker 6 (05:20):
Well, listen, your tombstone is good.

Speaker 7 (05:23):
It's gonna be somehow as long as a CBS receipt.

Speaker 6 (05:27):
Alex has a whole bunch of stuff on there.

Speaker 4 (05:29):
Alex, I want you to to uh hold this problem.
I want you to hold his promise. Okay, Okay, I'm
not even kidding you. So you're there that day, you know,
tears are coming out of your eyes.

Speaker 5 (05:42):
I'm balling out.

Speaker 4 (05:44):
It's like, okay, you know he's on to bigger and
brighter and more glorious.

Speaker 5 (05:49):
Place and all that Golden Girl's cruise exactly.

Speaker 4 (05:53):
But before they closed the casket, just slipping a twenty
eight ounce of baby oil.

Speaker 3 (06:02):
Just just drop it in there.

Speaker 5 (06:04):
You got it, Okay, I'm gonna send you looped up bro.

Speaker 3 (06:07):
Hey, Alex, do not allow them to close it down.
You got my word without the baby oil. And then
if my family gives you a hard time, said this
is what he wants.

Speaker 5 (06:16):
You got it, Man's man. You will have baby oil.

Speaker 3 (06:18):
There you go.

Speaker 7 (06:19):
All right, now listen, that's gonna help you fry extra crispy.
You better help you go up that doubt glistened up
like that, you might be fried.

Speaker 6 (06:29):
You might have gave it some Chris, go down.

Speaker 4 (06:34):
It's all good. All right, Hey, let's welcome into the
Odd Couple crew. We wouldn't be able to do this
fine radio.

Speaker 3 (06:39):
Program without him.

Speaker 8 (06:41):
Uh.

Speaker 4 (06:42):
Alex, of course is our engineer. You just heard from
Alex of course, no doubt. Lee to Lap is our
producer and for Rob g Hey, hey Lee, Lee, Lee,
there you go. Steve de Seger's at the anchor desk
and steep us updated throughout the program.

Speaker 6 (07:00):
Ever heard of it? And of course ever heard of it?
And of course, oh boy.

Speaker 3 (07:03):
Elijah, yeah, there you go.

Speaker 4 (07:06):
That is funny social media guru, one of the best
in the business. All Right, we got a lot to
get to on this funky flashback Friday. And uh, let's
start with the Ravens and Steelers game.

Speaker 3 (07:18):
Obviously, that's the Sunday night game.

Speaker 4 (07:20):
It's the game everybody wants to watch because it's it
doesn't matter because because one team is going to the
playoffs winning the division and the other one's going home.
So there's a when whenever you have a game of
that magnitude and everything's on the table, it just speaks
for itself.

Speaker 3 (07:34):
It's something you.

Speaker 7 (07:35):
Want to star quarterback names to Aaron Rodgers one of
the all time greats Lamar one of the best of
the last six, seven, eight years.

Speaker 6 (07:41):
So yeah, there's a lot a lot on it here.

Speaker 4 (07:43):
Here here's the rub between me and you. You believe
that they still can put it together and still make
a run in the postseason, and I'm gonna say no,
but I'd love to hear your case first.

Speaker 7 (07:56):
So you and I have both the preseason, we both
picked the Ravens to make the Super Bowl.

Speaker 4 (08:00):
I'm glad you said that because I did pick them,
But I'm not there anymore now.

Speaker 6 (08:05):
I'm clearly not.

Speaker 7 (08:06):
I don't think like that wouldn't be my pick right
now if you say the AFC. But the reason I was,
you know, as we think about who's gonna play, we
get the reports that Lamar is gonna play. He said,
Obviously I'm one hundred percent going you know, I'm never
gonna quit on this team. John Harbady talked to even
Lamar mentioned the fact that all the reports that you
know he's not watching film and all that he's like,
y'all think John let me fall asleep in the film

(08:26):
room and all that. So there's what my point in this.
It's not so much that the Ravens have been great
this season. We know they've been on and off. Hens
why they're you know, their record hints why they're in
the position they are. And is that to me when
you have the one of the most skilled in the
last few years. I've caught him the best quarterback, best player,

(08:47):
and you you sat there with me, agree with that
when you have him, when you have a running back that.

Speaker 6 (08:53):
We all agree that there don't feature him enough.

Speaker 7 (08:56):
And Derrick Henry could be the key to them moving
along and getting into the postseason. Well, they're rushing. They
leave the rushing in rushing yards for a tip. They're rushing.
When they rush the ball like they did last week
over three hundred yards, they become very scary. Right then
you look at what they can do offensively. They can
be eleventh in the league and scoring offense, averaging twenty
five points per game. So I'm looking at it like this,

(09:18):
if I have a Lamar Jackson who's relatively healthy, nobody's
healthy healthy at the end of a long season like this,
and I'm featuring King Derrick Henry again like you should be.
You got a thousand yard receiver and Zay Henry or
Jay Flowers. I'm sorry, and you and I have talked
about this, Rob. It's always some weird, fluky, crazy thing

(09:38):
that happens if they can just not shoot themselves in
the foot, not beat cheddar Bob from the movie as
of course eight mile. My whole thing is, Rob, They've
got a shot in the sense that to me, there's
no Bohemith in the AFC. Maybe it's the Patriots the
most complete team, maybe I'll give it to them, But
aside from that, there's no complete team. You look at

(10:02):
the Bills. They're reliant on Josh Allen, that's pretty much it.
Receiving corps is not great running game with James Cook.
Sometimes it's there, sometimes it's not. In The defense can
be spotty as well. I still don't know if I
believe in what the Broncos are able to despite their record,
And then I don't know about justin herbing the Chargers
they's good, sometimes they're not great. So if you're the
Ravens and you can punch your ticket with him, with

(10:24):
Lamar Jackson, we run the ball bar with Henry and
you don't shoot yourself in the foot, I'm like, hey,
you get in the tournament, you got a shot. Because
the AFC, in my opinion, none of the teams do
you look at and say, that's a complete team. That's
a boheman, that's a team you gotta worry for about,
except maybe maybe the Patriots.

Speaker 4 (10:44):
Yeah, here's where I'm gonna push back, And I think
it's wishful thinking. They just haven't been good all year
and everybody keeps giving them the benefit of the doubt
because of their roster on paper, just talked about it.
It's nice. Oh yeah, Derek Henry had this big game. Yeah,
let's just do that. Well, here's the problem. They have

(11:07):
a bad coach and John Harball. They've had terrible game
plans every time there's a big game. Do you remember
the AFC Championship game where they didn't run the football
against the Chiefs and they threw the ball all over
the field, And you said, everybody after that game went,
what is this?

Speaker 3 (11:23):
What team is this.

Speaker 4 (11:25):
They run the football, but in that game plan it
was passing Zay Flowers you brought up going to the
Pro Bowl with two touchdowns and three intercepts.

Speaker 3 (11:34):
Three fumbles, right like, like two touchdowns and three fumbles.
That's your your wide receiver there, Lamar.

Speaker 4 (11:45):
Ever, since he's come back from injury, go look at
the numbers. They're awful. They're not They're not not good.
They're awful. He's been awful since and now he's coming
off another injury with a back injury, trying to go
out there and play too many issues. They scored forty

(12:06):
points in Buffalo, they lost. We've seen in and out
of the defense. Nothing has been consistent. There was a
point when they had a chance to get right. And
you'll remember this.

Speaker 3 (12:17):
They had two.

Speaker 4 (12:18):
Games week thirteen, in Week fourteen, both at home, both
against the Bengals and the Steelers.

Speaker 3 (12:25):
They lost both games.

Speaker 4 (12:27):
They lost both games thirty two fourteen and twenty seven
to twenty two. That was their season to me right there.
They had a chance to get that going, you know
what I mean, put something together. They gave up the
game against the Patriots at the end, I can't count
on the defense I can't count on the coaching. I

(12:47):
can't count on Lamar, I can't count on say Flowers.
I can't count on Derek Henwed who has fumble lights.
Who can I count on? I can't count on anybody.
I've been picking the Ravens for three years, no loss.
I'm not gonna do it to myself anymore. I can't.

(13:09):
I'm expecting everything to come together all of a sudden
after everything has been.

Speaker 3 (13:15):
Awful all year long.

Speaker 4 (13:17):
Whin if they played great there that one game of
twenty four to nothing shut out, Oh yeah, they got
it back together.

Speaker 3 (13:23):
Whatever, dude, I'm not buying a Ravens.

Speaker 7 (13:26):
I'm not listening, Rob. I'm not mad at you by that.
They're not the Ravens that you and I hope they
would be.

Speaker 6 (13:30):
No preseason when you look at roster, I completely get that.

Speaker 7 (13:35):
And again the big one of the big components for
me is that this is one of the rare seasons
where again Tom Brady h is not sitting there with
the Patriots, and so it's like if they if they
if they were if they went up against the Jags,
you know, if they if they marched up against them,
if they marched up against the Texans very great defense.

Speaker 6 (13:56):
Sections are incredible defense.

Speaker 3 (13:57):
I think you're looking at it at and I hear you,
but you're.

Speaker 4 (14:01):
Looking at it at the Lamar playing MVP football like that, like.

Speaker 6 (14:06):
You well, looking at fully like that. I picked it.
I picked him.

Speaker 4 (14:09):
But I'm saying if Lamar was playing really good, then
I would buy that. He's gonna look at his numbers, Kelvin.
He's not close to what he was a year ago.
And he got off to a great start the first
three or four games.

Speaker 3 (14:23):
He put up.

Speaker 4 (14:24):
Forty points in Buffalo to start the season and they lost.

Speaker 3 (14:28):
And do you trust John Harbaugh and his game plans?
I don't. I don't trust it.

Speaker 7 (14:34):
The thing for me, rob is again, if they're the
way their team is set up, if they can, if
they you brought up earlier, if John Harball uses his
brain realizes I have a six foot two monthster back
there and runs the ball, And if Lamar Jackson taking
a week off or so, has gotten a little bit healthier,
realizes that he can run the ball a little bit

(14:55):
more and that he can, you know, get if they
don't shoot themselves in the post. How many games are
you and I talk about this? Should they have won.
Lively catches the ball. They got a couple of games
where he didn't fumble in the end zone, or they
could rule it.

Speaker 6 (15:07):
Not a catch.

Speaker 7 (15:08):
You got Zay Flowers if he catches the ball, and
they could win some games. They have had some games
that they could be sitting here automatically in the poleseason.
Let alone need to win because maybe they're sitting here
at eleven and you know it would ultimately a chance
to be eleven and six. So I'm saying this season, particular,
the way the AFC is set up, the way Lamar
is still that talented, and the way Derrick Henry is,

(15:30):
if they can just get in that, I wouldn't want
to play Shoot, I gotta play that guy.

Speaker 4 (15:37):
Yeah, that's that's what everybody said last year with the
Lakers and Lebron and Luca.

Speaker 6 (15:41):
Oh you know, Okay, Lamar Jackson is not seventy two years.

Speaker 4 (15:44):
I don't want to see those guys. No, I'm just
saying Lamar Jackson. Okay, that was off for Rep though.
It's all I'm saying, and this is off for Lamar
Rep not how he's playing now. You go look at
his game logs recently there's no reason for me to
believe they gonna come out and throw four touchdowns, no interceptions,
have one hundred and fifty quarterback rating or whatever it is.

(16:06):
I just don't see that. I would be I would
be stunned, That's all I'm saying. All right, eight seven
to seven ninety nine on Fox eight seven, seven nine nine,
six sixty three sixty nine, Kelvin is all in on.

Speaker 3 (16:18):
The Ravens today. They can make it. What you said,
they can make a run if they.

Speaker 6 (16:23):
You put so many l's in at all Roight, there's
a few too many als.

Speaker 4 (16:27):
I'm not buying the Ravens. I think they lose to Pittsburgh.
I just think the season that they've had does not
convince me that they're gonna flip the switch and beat
a team that we thought they would be when the
season started. We want to hear from you eight seven,
seven ninety nine on Fox You in or out on
the Ravens and why it is the odd couple on

All right, so we were talking Ravens Steelers, gonna be

(18:37):
a big one coming up this Sunday, Sunday night to
be specific, eight seven, seven.

Speaker 6 (18:41):
Ninety nine on Fox.

Speaker 7 (18:42):
I was simply saying, Hey, the way the Ravens are
still built in Lamar being Lamar and Derrick Henry. If
they get into the postseason with no Bohemis sitting there
in AFC, maybe just maybe they can sneak a win or.

Speaker 6 (18:56):
So Rob says, no way, no, how, what say you?

Speaker 7 (18:59):
Ate?

Speaker 6 (18:59):
Seven and seven ninety nine on Fox. Who we got?

Speaker 3 (19:03):
All right, let's kick it off.

Speaker 6 (19:05):
Here we go.

Speaker 3 (19:07):
With Sean in Wisconsin. Sean, you're in the couple of
Fox Sports Radio. What's up, I'm man, what's going on?
Tell Happy New Year.

Speaker 6 (19:17):
Happy New Year to you, Happy New Year, Happy New Year.

Speaker 11 (19:20):
So every new year, I think the Steelers are gonna win.
I think the Ravens are gonna lose. And honestly, I
don't think it matters who wins. I think they're both
going to lose in the first round.

Speaker 3 (19:32):
Okay, that's fine, that's fine, that's fair. I mean we're
I don't think.

Speaker 6 (19:36):
I don't think. Yeah.

Speaker 4 (19:37):
But but the idea, why don't you believe in the Ravens,
That's really what we're trying.

Speaker 11 (19:41):
To get to because Lamar Jackson just don't look like
the Lamar Jackson that we've a comcast.

Speaker 3 (19:46):
That's what I'm saying.

Speaker 4 (19:47):
He doesn't he really and lead to lap can you
look up Lamar's numbers? Seriously, his last four or five games, Kelvin,
you've seen him.

Speaker 3 (19:55):
I don't have him.

Speaker 6 (19:57):
In front of me.

Speaker 11 (19:59):
So it's but I.

Speaker 4 (20:02):
Picked the Ravens too, you know what I mean for me,
and I never did to go.

Speaker 3 (20:06):
Off my pick. Whenever a chance I could be like.

Speaker 4 (20:08):
Oh I'm all about the ravensh let me let they
get in and now they're gonna run the table. Man,
I just can't. I just can't see it. They've been
so bad in so many areas. Thanks, Sean, I appreciate
the shit, no doubt. You're welcome, all right, eight seven,
seven ninety nine on Fox. How about Albert in Riverside, California.
You're on the odd couple of Fox Sports Radio. What's up, Albert?

Speaker 8 (20:30):
What's up?

Speaker 3 (20:30):
Guys?

Speaker 12 (20:31):
How are you hey to me?

Speaker 13 (20:32):
I'm doing good to me. The Ravens, Yeah, they're not
gonna go far in the playoffs, but I think they
will be Pittsburgh this this weekend because the students cost
themselves with that loss in Cleveland and not having DK
Metcalf because you saw against Cleveland they couldn't score anything.
So I think against the Ravens defense, I think it's

(20:52):
gonna be tough for them, and Lamarvel will do just
enough to win this game.

Speaker 6 (20:56):
I'm gonna tell you.

Speaker 4 (20:56):
I'm gonna tell you the part Albert, that people in
fact didn't factor in it.

Speaker 3 (21:01):
I'm just I'm not making an excuse.

Speaker 4 (21:04):
The raven I mean the Steelers had lost like four
in a row or four out of five in Cleveland.
Like sometimes division rivals, it doesn't matter who comes in,
what the story is, they just have something over them,
and that game was so weird, so many calls plays.
I'm still just not buying into the Ravens.

Speaker 3 (21:24):
But I hear your point.

Speaker 13 (21:28):
The DK Metcalf thing. Is that a thing because without him,
like I said, they have no receiving corps that you
can trust out there for Rogers still the football too.

Speaker 3 (21:37):
I just look, I.

Speaker 4 (21:37):
Look at I look at what they did against the
Lions with those explosive plays, and I think that's where
the Steelers want to be. And I'm not saying that
and not having DK Metcalf is a good thing. It's
a bad thing. But I just the way the Ravens
implode and and and do things to themselves. Kelvin, thanks
for the car, Albert h. That's what bothers me with
them is that I don't believe I can trust them.

Speaker 7 (22:00):
Listen, I ain't saying it like they're one of the
trustworthy kids in your houses you can trust with the keys.
But I will say, we'll we're talking about the Steelers.
I think we're under I think you are under selling
Dk metcalfs. I mean just a thread of him, even
if he only had two catches, the thread of him
going deep, the fact that him running full speed down
the field. What it does to safeties, what it does
the linebackers having to keep an eye on him and

(22:21):
losing that when you don't really have it's like they
have him and George Pickings or something where you'd be like,
all right, great, we still got that guy. That's a
massive blow for a team that's very iffy with running
the ball.

Speaker 6 (22:30):
They're not the Steelers of old.

Speaker 7 (22:32):
And we'll have more of a conversation of them on
the other side of trending.

Speaker 4 (22:36):
Go ahead, and we're gonna take more phone calls eight seven,
seven ninety nine on Fox.

Speaker 3 (22:40):
Hold on, we'll get caught We'll get caught up with Steve.

Speaker 6 (22:43):
But yep, we'll take some more of seven seven ninety
nine on Fox. Let's hit it. You mentioned it's Steven
segag getting a set on. What's training?

Speaker 14 (22:50):
Hey, Steve Steele, Well, let's start with the NFL news.
Is Steelers pass rusher TJ.

Speaker 3 (22:55):
Watt.

Speaker 14 (22:55):
We'll play Sunday night in the season finale against the Ravens.
He missed the last three games after to the lung injury.
He returned to full practice today. Baltimore gave nose tackle
John Jenkins a one year extension. Quarterback Lamar Jackson practice
fully again after the bad back. Quarterback Josh Allen of
the Bills returned to limited practice and should start in
the finale Sunday. Vikings quarterback JJ McCarthy will start after

(23:18):
a broken hand. He's practiced fully the past two days
now running back to Von Age and doubtful for the
Dolphins with a shoulder injury. He's misspractice all week. Dallas
running back Javonte Williams out this weekend with shoulder and
neck injuries, and teammate running back Malik Davis is out
with an eye injury. Cincinnati running back Chase Brown returned
to full practice after illness. Running Back for the Chargers

(23:40):
Omarion Hampton is out this weekend with an ankle injury,
and his quarterback Justin Herbert will not play. Saints wide
receiver Chris Olave is officially out due to illness. Eagles
tight end Dallas Goddard out with a knee injury. The
Rams will play their starters on Sunday, regardless of the
results of other games. Wide receiver Davonte Adams was limited
in practice with his bad hamstring. Four bowl games in

(24:03):
college football, including from San Diego tonight on Fox TV.
Kickoff in about a half an hour. The Holiday Bowl
seventeenth ranked Arizona against SMU in Charlotte in a half
an hour. Five and seven. Mississippi State versus Wake Forest
Today in Fort Worth. It was Texas State over Rice
forty one to ten. Tonight in Memphis at the Liberty Bowl.

(24:24):
It's now Navy twenty eight thirteen over Cincinnati. About seven
minutes to go in this game. Old Miss quarterback Austin
Simmons will transfer, reportedly to Missouri. He began the season
as the starter for Mississippi the playoff semi finals. So
next Thursday and Friday, Thursday, it's Old Miss against Miami
in Arizona. In the NBA, Carl Anthony Towns out for

(24:47):
the next home game that's about to start against Atlanta.
Illness the problem. San Antonio's at Indiana Victor Women Yama.
The Spurs out with the hyper extended knee. One of
the Lake games has Golden State hosting Oklahoma City. The
Warrior Steph Curry out with an ankle injury. Jimmy Butler
was listed as doubtful due to illness.

Speaker 6 (25:04):
Back to you, all right, Steve, Thank you so much.

Speaker 7 (25:07):
It is the odd couple of rock Parker Kevin Washington
on a fuck It flashback Friday. Thanks for hanging out
and rocking with your boys. As always, we appreciate it. Rob,
you want to take a couple more calls before kind
of same game, but pivot a little bit.

Speaker 3 (25:21):
Yeah, yeah, let's do that. We'll take a couple more.

Speaker 4 (25:23):
And then you can wrap up this segment a little
bit about the Pittsburgh and what potentially could happen here.

Speaker 3 (25:29):
But we got a few more to get to. Jake
in Kansas City. You're on the odd couple of Fox
Sports Radio. What's up, Jake?

Speaker 8 (25:36):
Hey, what's up guys?

Speaker 6 (25:37):
Happy New Year, New year to you brother.

Speaker 11 (25:40):
Yeah.

Speaker 8 (25:41):
If you watch the Coasters first half of the season,
you can see the subpar quarterback boss behind a great
offensive line can turn into a good quarterback. But the
Raven's got the other equation going.

Speaker 11 (25:53):
They've got a good.

Speaker 8 (25:54):
Quarterback behind a subpar offensive If they can't protect them
during the regular season, what's going to happen with them?
Exotic blitzes and coverages that he hasn't seen all year.

Speaker 6 (26:04):
Is going to happen.

Speaker 8 (26:05):
It's winner go home, and they could have protect him
or protect him, and now that he's injured, it's probably
gonna be even worse, and that's why they're going to
be one and done.

Speaker 4 (26:15):
Okay, appreciate you, Thank you so much. Appreciate that. David
in Baltimore. You're on the odd couple of Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 12 (26:23):
What's up, David, Hi, good evening, Thanks for taking my call.
Happy New Year.

Speaker 6 (26:28):
How are we too happy with you?

Speaker 12 (26:31):
Well, I'm a lifelong Baltimore Ravens fan. I've lived in
Baltimore my whole life, and season ticket holder since the
very beginning. I'm actually going up to the game awesome,
and it's very rare in life that no matter what happens,
it's perfect. But either the Ravens are going to win
and go to the playoffs as a four seed where
they've won the super Bowl twice as a four seed,

(26:52):
or I almost argue it's better they lose and John
Harbo finally gets fired. Four years. I've been advocating, no, no,
for ten years. I've been advocating for John Harvell to
get fired and it hasn't happened. And I believe if
they lose on Sunday, it will.

Speaker 4 (27:08):
And you know what, David As you know, I'm on
that bandwagon with you.

Speaker 3 (27:14):
I'm just enough is enough already?

Speaker 4 (27:17):
How many poor seasons, I mean, great seasons have to
end with major disappointments Calvin again right in the postseason.
Every year you look at them and go, oh, they
could make a run. Oh look at they got everything.
They added Derek Henry. Hey he I don't never remember
Derek Henry as being a fumbler.

Speaker 3 (27:35):
Now he fumbles all the time, right.

Speaker 12 (27:38):
One hundred percent. And it's also, you know, I think
the locker room's just tired of the same messaging. Help me,
Harball's messaging has gotten stale. I just think they need
new life, they need a new voice. I think they've
got a lot of talent, but I'm so tired of
the ridiculous go for it on fourth down and not
get it, the ridiculous coasters challenge, the poor clock management. Yeah,

(28:00):
And honestly, it's just so many things, And honestly, I
think it could be. I think there's some really talented
coaches out there, Like, for example, if we lose on Sunday,
I'd be calling off the head coach of Indiana and
offering him a job, because I think that guy wins
wherever he.

Speaker 6 (28:15):
Goes, and I don't think you're going to necessarily leave.

Speaker 4 (28:18):
But I got day a great, great call in that. Hey,
he's like one of these fans saying, Kelvin, I'm almost
if I want my team to lose, almost so we
can get away from John Harbat there people like that,
knowing that if they win, then you make yourself another
excuse on why to keep John hallball. And then they
get knocked out in the first run, you know, the
first game. Then you go right back, right back to

(28:40):
where you are.

Speaker 7 (28:41):
Well, what about the other side of this, Rob, Are
we looking at a case where the fans of Pittsburgh
the fans in Baltimore maybe feel the same way? Meeting
great obviously, all right, cool? Getting a playoffs, you got
a shot. You never know, But if we lose, maybe
this could be the end for our coach, because the
same thing could be a question on the other side.
You and I have talked about it, Tomlin after nineteen seasons,

(29:02):
which is an amazing run, especially in this day and
age of sports where we've seen coaches of the year
or coaches be harrow, didn't you know kind of go
from first to worse and get fired the next season. So, uh,
Mike Tomlin, I'm wondering the same thing. Record is just
go ahead, go ahead.

Speaker 4 (29:19):
No, they was just say with the Tomlin thing, it's
the organization because they've had three coaches in sixty years,
you know. So I get it, and he has that.
He hasn't had a losing record, but they don't fire coaches.

Speaker 6 (29:31):
That's what.

Speaker 7 (29:32):
Okay, So let me throw this at you. You're right,
there's no debating that's a fact. Put an exclamation point.

Speaker 6 (29:37):
We know that.

Speaker 7 (29:38):
But the question becomes what becomes fire or bull How
many seasons of not producing, not being where you want
to be becomes a question. He's eight and eleven in
postseason games. You look at his predecessors. Bill Kower was
twelve and nine, Chuck Noll was sixteen and eight. So
you start to say, dang, it's not even like we're
five hundred in the playoff r If I told you
I've actually I would you know, I've looked these numbers up.

(30:00):
But if you have told me a couple of years ago,
I'd be shocked at that. I thought, oh, yeah, he's
eleven and a you know, five hundred eight and eleven
in the playoffs for Mike Tomlin is kind of shocking
for a blue blood of the NFL. And how many
times are you gonna keep making excuses where you're like, well, hey,
at least we're above five hundred, Hey, we didn't have
a losing season.

Speaker 6 (30:19):
Hey, at least we got to the postseason.

Speaker 7 (30:21):
And I also think what could be concerning is that
if you were to lose, you don't make the postseason.
And now if Aaron Rodgers says, you know, hey, man
had a good run, we gave it a good shot.
I'm a call a career. There's no contingency plan, you know.
So if you're sitting there, you're like, all right, we
got Mike TWN. We loving him, we believe in him.
He's been our guy, and thankfully we got this young quarterback.

(30:42):
Maybe even if it was I don't think he's been great,
But say it's JJ McCarthy or something where you're like,
we got our guy. He's young, but we're gonna be
even better next year. They don't have that at all.
And so that's also what makes this pretty damning, is
that there's.

Speaker 6 (30:54):
No but uh plan. I think he doesn't make the postseason.

Speaker 7 (30:58):
Rob like, what's the what's the goal, what's the angle,
where's the optimism?

Speaker 4 (31:03):
But but I don't think if you think they don't
have any kind of plan as far as going forward,
I'm not saying the guys in house, but I'm sure
that they have to have some names and people.

Speaker 7 (31:14):
Why though, why do you believe that, because we've seen
plenty of organizations that have on.

Speaker 4 (31:19):
Because I think the Steelers, even with where they are
and they've had, they've tried, They've they've drafted people quarterbacks
they didn't work out, they weren't good.

Speaker 3 (31:28):
Like It's not like they didn't draft people.

Speaker 7 (31:30):
They but that's what I'm saying. So if you don't
have I get what you're saying they have.

Speaker 3 (31:33):
It's not like they have.

Speaker 4 (31:34):
It's not like they haven't like they just went without
a quarterback.

Speaker 3 (31:38):
Go look at Mason Rudolph. Those guys. They just didn't
work like they've they drafted guy.

Speaker 7 (31:43):
And part of the part of the not working is
that they've not been good with offense for a decade,
right since the last little bit that they had of
good Ben Roethlis.

Speaker 4 (31:51):
I'm just saying they've tried to bring in their own
guy and get a quarterback in the draft or whatever.

Speaker 3 (31:59):
It just hasn't worked and they haven't.

Speaker 4 (32:00):
And you're right, that's like their glaring thing.

Speaker 6 (32:04):
Yeah, and the defense is supposed to be good. It's
not just great this year.

Speaker 7 (32:07):
They're all the you know, they run the ball though
Jerome Bettis ain't walking through that door. You know, Le'Veon
Bell in his prime and walking through that door. They
haven't run the ball well. And so up against the
Lions when they ran for they all of a sudden
they look like, no, I'm just turning. You're right, they
look like the return of Jim Brown was out there.
That was the biggest game of the year, and they
ran because.

Speaker 6 (32:28):
They they now would be this Sunday.

Speaker 4 (32:30):
But if they didn't win that game and then lost
in Cleveland, it'd be a rock you know what I
mean Like that that that Lions game was a huge game.

Speaker 7 (32:38):
But I'm wondering, are we looking at a situation where
if they lose, now you can do the whole Well,
we didn't make the postseason, right now you can kind
of check that box that he had had had in
his favor. Now he said, well, we didn't make the postseason.
We didn't look that great Aaron Rodgers, does he retire?

Speaker 6 (32:53):
Does he move on?

Speaker 7 (32:54):
Meaning if that's the guy you kind of hit your
wagon to Mike Tomlin and it doesn't go great, do
you mess around and lose both of them?

Speaker 6 (33:01):
Hey, we're ready to move on after night.

Speaker 7 (33:03):
Listen, nineteen season is incredible, Like there may be a
mutual part of the way.

Speaker 6 (33:07):
It's like nobody's mad at you.

Speaker 7 (33:09):
We had a great run, we got a couple of
super Bowl appearances, we got one ring out of it,
and let's move on. And then Aaron Rodgers, who is
his bro, would likely retire.

Speaker 6 (33:18):
I mean, where do they go?

Speaker 7 (33:20):
That's just the biggest thing for me, Rob is that
I just don't see the future where you're like, oh,
this looks good because they got this, you know Jade
and Daniels that I know he was nicked up, but
dang it, we got him moving forward, or you know
we got this other young guy, Oh we got our
our bow knicks or Drake May that's going to be better.

Speaker 6 (33:38):
I just I don't see any bright spots with them.

Speaker 7 (33:41):
And I see the same thing why I was saying
this last summer or last offseason. It looks like to me,
they're gonna look the same next season. Now they have
an offseason to prove me wrong. But it just doesn't
look like an inspiring team. And at what point do
they say we had a great.

Speaker 3 (33:55):
So let me ask you.

Speaker 4 (33:56):
If they beat the Ravens, win the division, and win
a playoff game, then what would you what would be
your take.

Speaker 3 (34:01):
On the Steelers?

Speaker 7 (34:02):
It would be the same, Okay, just in that I
don't look at it.

Speaker 3 (34:07):
It wouldn't be the same.

Speaker 4 (34:08):
Aaron Rodgers as the starting quarterback for the Steels with
nine and five, So you can look at it and
say it's the same as Russell Wilson.

Speaker 3 (34:14):
It's not. You're not being You're not being genuine.

Speaker 4 (34:16):
He's nine to five and I'm just saying nothing. If
they win the game and they win the division, no
way you thought they would win the division, And if
they get into the playoffs, they would host a playoff game.
Save the Chargers come in and they beat him on
a cold weather game, a defensive struggle, and they win
that game, then their season is a success as far

(34:38):
as what they wanted, because I told you the whole
way through, all they wanted was a competent quarterback and
a chance to win a playoff game, and I think
that's what they're vying for.

Speaker 3 (34:48):
If that happens, Mike Tomlin's not going anywhere. Would you
agree with that?

Speaker 7 (34:54):
I don't know, because my point would be, they haven't
looked good.

Speaker 6 (34:58):
They haven't looked great in quite some time. They haven't
looked like there's.

Speaker 4 (35:01):
No way they're making a change or a coach if
you go with you in a playoff game.

Speaker 7 (35:05):
I just if you look at the we see what
Rabel and the Patriots have become. You see what Peyton
has done with the with the Broncos. You see what
Ryan's has done with the Texans, you see what Cohen
has done with the Jags, And like you're like, oh shoot, these.

Speaker 6 (35:19):
Teams are good. These teams are coming.

Speaker 3 (35:21):
Texans didn't even make the playoffs last year.

Speaker 7 (35:24):
But right they in three seasons they made the postseason
now twice. They look great this year. The last eight weeks,
eight in a row. You have something to do. Just yes,
the Steelers look, in my opinion, the same, and there's
just no life there.

Speaker 6 (35:38):
And that's why I'm like, when do you pull the plug?
It's a real question.

Speaker 7 (35:42):
I'm really asking when let's just move on.

Speaker 3 (35:46):
I just don't see that.

Speaker 4 (35:46):
I think if they go to the play win the
division and win a playoff game, so they're go, it's
going to be the same exact it's going to be
the same exact thing where they'll try it again next year,
try to add some other pieces.

Speaker 6 (35:57):
So way, move on. Rob Parker would say that about
other you, I wouldn't say that you.

Speaker 4 (36:01):
No, I'm going to tell you why, because that's how
the Denver Broncos they won a super Bowl. The Denver
Broncos won a Super Bowl with Peyton Manning. Go look
at that team before and after. It wasn't a great team.
Peyton Manning was the quarterback. They got their Super Bowl
out of it, and then they moved on.

Speaker 3 (36:18):
Those people aren't still there.

Speaker 6 (36:19):
But Peyton Manning set records with touchdowns.

Speaker 3 (36:22):
No, no, not the year that he won.

Speaker 7 (36:24):
Some say, right, So what I'm saying is, you saw,
oh Man, look at this that year he got Their
defense was all right, and then their defense was one
of the better ones in the last twenty years.

Speaker 4 (36:34):
They weren't even favorite in that super Bowl that it
would they played great and they beat uh, Cam Newton
and Cam Newton and the turnovers there and they did.

Speaker 3 (36:43):
It was the defense Peyton Man.

Speaker 11 (36:47):
Team.

Speaker 7 (36:47):
And this is why we just disagree. They looked they
looked like the same.

Speaker 4 (36:50):
It's not the same team as a year ago. Eight seven,
seven ninety nine on Foxes out number. It is the
odd couple coming up. We got a little uh.

Speaker 6 (36:59):
Uh you smile it, I know how you feel. Okay,
you already already know. Look at you so happy you
can't even talk.

Speaker 4 (37:05):
A little Shekel city coming up. That and much more.
It is the odd couple. Stick and stay because.

Speaker 5 (37:11):
Ron Parker possibly could be undefeated.

Speaker 3 (37:15):

Speaker 2 (38:19):

Speaker 3 (38:20):

got the distance and it's through the upright. The Reynolds

Speaker 7 (38:27):
Wow, big field goal for there from Old Missus.

Speaker 6 (38:31):

was Leary Field Radio.

Speaker 6 (39:21):
Eliza? H are you?

Speaker 14 (39:23):
How are we doing?

Speaker 3 (39:24):
Alex approved this. It's the new start of the new year, January.

Speaker 6 (39:28):
First, So wait, what was the start of the last one?

Speaker 4 (39:31):
The other one was the start of football season in September.
So we go, we go kind of like football season. Okay,
so we got the new one. So of course last night,
Alex you ready, Kelvin?

Speaker 3 (39:41):
You ready?

Speaker 14 (39:42):
Right?

Speaker 2 (39:42):
What we do?

Speaker 12 (39:44):
Three?

Speaker 3 (39:44):
No on Jay first?

Speaker 6 (39:47):
Three?

Speaker 3 (39:47):
And O what a start like it? I'm feeling good.
Whoop is right?

Speaker 6 (39:53):
Whoopy damn do? All right?

Speaker 3 (39:55):
Here we go tonight.

Speaker 4 (39:58):
I'm gonna take the Lake minus four and a half
hosting the Grizzlies in Los Angeles as my best bet.

Speaker 3 (40:08):
Okay, I got the King plus thirteen and a half.
So many bad games in the NBA plus thirteen and
a half. They're in the.

Speaker 4 (40:17):
They were in Phoenix taking on the Suns, and Steph
and a couple other people aren't playing for the Golden
State words tonight, I got OKAC minus thirteen and a half.
That's right, thank you, Charge Charles in San Francisco, so again,
Lakers minus four and a half over the Grizzlies. Okay,

(40:38):
see minus thirteen and a half at Golden State in
San Francisco and the Siberia Kings plus thirteen and a
half in the desert taking on the Suns.

Speaker 3 (40:51):
And I'm not telling you who to bet on. I'm
telling you who I bet on.

Speaker 7 (40:58):
Well, since we just reset now will have to reset
and say I never said the Lions are gonna make
the playoffs.
