Speaker 2 (00:20):
This putties you're listening to Fox Sports Radio, Aaron.
Speaker 3 (00:28):
What that does? Is it just brings that's my intro music?
Is it when I do my hits on on Tuesday
at four thirty? This is this? It just brings the
energy up of the show. Like I'm seeing man bo
season here, twerkin in the Update booth, Alex's cabbage patching,
(00:48):
and Rob doesn't really have rhythm, so he's doing something
with his shoulders.
Speaker 4 (00:53):
See, I thought this was actually Rob Parker's walk up
music at Magic City.
Speaker 5 (00:56):
To what it might be, it might bleed. I'm a
little more righting out with you. Yeah, see that's where
I That's what I thought it was. I mean, what
is it? Uh? What is it? Wing Wednesday or something?
Magic City? I don't know, Thursday, Thursday, whatever.
Speaker 4 (01:11):
Anyway, Odd Couple, Robbie, Kelvin or out Ephrom salam is
in Aaron Torres as well.
Speaker 5 (01:16):
We are so excited to be here.
Speaker 4 (01:17):
We're broadcasting live from the Fox Sports Radio studios. Ty
Shirt is on the board as you could sell. He's
got us ready to go. Producer Rob Gera as always
super producer, and Manzi Blanos is with the updates. Yeah
all right, so I'll say this, uh, Ephrom I. So,
(01:38):
first of all, I know that the odd couple is
we gotta yell, we gotta scream, we gotta disagree all that,
But there was a serious topic that Manzi just mentioned
in her update to start the show.
Speaker 2 (01:51):
Uh.
Speaker 5 (01:52):
And frankly, I'll be transparent.
Speaker 4 (01:53):
I don't know if you knew all of it because
you were driving in it broke probably within the last
half an hour. But as you heard Rashaun Slater tackle
Los Angeles Chargers, I think there are a lot of
people's dark horse here. Early in you know camp in everything,
(02:14):
he is out for the year, Torn Pateeller Tendon was
carted off today. You know, listen, we like to start
with the more upbeat, fun things. But one, this is
certainly the most newsworthy thing of the day. Two, you know,
you are probably the best person to speak to about
this here at Fox Sports Radio so we can get
(02:34):
into the impact of the Los Angeles Chargers, et cetera.
But thirteen year NFL Vets Super Bowl champion played offensive
tackle in the NFL. Just your first reaction to hearing
that news which just broke here within last night.
Speaker 3 (02:49):
Literally during the update, I looked at you like, oh
my god, it is number one.
Speaker 5 (02:56):
It's awful.
Speaker 3 (02:57):
Of course I feel I feel extremely sorrowful for this
young man who is one of the bright stars on
the offensive line in the NFL. It every year we
have these type of injuries to teams in training camp.
It just lets you know how how aggressive I'll say,
(03:23):
football is, whether it be in practice or in the game.
And so when you have guys who don't feel like
they're being compensated the right way, they hold out or
hold in. Now because of the fine system has changed,
you start to understand why. So less than a week ago,
(03:44):
this young man signed a four year extension four one
hundred and fourteen million dollars and ninety two million guaranteed.
If he had not signed that contract seven days or
so ago, the numbers would.
Speaker 5 (03:59):
Be considerably different.
Speaker 3 (04:00):
After sitting out this whole year, and I just want
to say it like that to keep it in context
for our wonderful listeners who join us every day. This
is it's a business.
Speaker 5 (04:13):
Now.
Speaker 3 (04:14):
Most of our listeners are fans and sports and nay,
they want guys to show up and be there for
their teams. But it's a just a job. And if
you're being underpaid at your job and you're excelling at
your job, then you feel a certain type of way.
I understand what Michael Parsons is going through. I understand
(04:35):
what Trey Henderson is going through. I understand what Terry
McLaurin is going through because they know that next day
at practice tomorrow, yep, their season could be over. And
now negotiations take on a whole nother dimension.
Speaker 5 (04:54):
And so.
Speaker 3 (04:56):
As for the Chargers, we are a lot of high hopes.
Second year under hardball, running game, hard nose, justin Herbert
really stepping into his own and really for the first
time in his career, having a real coach last year
with Jim and so now seeing this news, it's this
(05:21):
is one thing I can tell you for sure, playing
left tackle for many, many years in the NFL, most
teams don't have to.
Speaker 5 (05:30):
Sure, sure, sure, sure, sure sure.
Speaker 3 (05:32):
Right, So most teams don't have too high level left tackles.
Now you may have a swing guy who can come
in and do some stuff spot duty here and there,
and later in my career I was that guy after
starting for ten years. But it's a huge setback because
that's a huge void in a hole that you can't
(05:53):
easily feel sure like. It's not like a running back,
we can go get that guy. It's not like a
dB where you can bring someone over are It is
not like a guard where you can hide them in between.
You know, a sinner and a good tackle, you're out
on an island and you're out on an island on
(06:14):
the blind side. And not having that at the level
they needed to to to make some noise and make
a real push this postseason is as a huge setback
for this team.
Speaker 4 (06:29):
Okay, so I got a couple of takeaways, but my
first one for you, and I want to just ask
you this. You know, we obviously we all love football.
We all know kind of the next man up philosophy.
Take us into a training camp though, because to me,
I think it's easy to sit there and say, oh,
next man up, and it's a new opportunity. But the
counter to that is you got a lot of guys
like you said that, you know, Keenan Allen literally just
(06:52):
you know, ended up on it with this organization a
few days ago, thinking that he has a window to
go to a super Bowl, win a super Bowl.
Speaker 5 (06:58):
You have a bunch of other ves.
Speaker 4 (07:00):
That's what is the locker room like after a situation
like this. Understanding from the second you put your pads
on when you're a high school, teenager, middle school, whatever,
that these injuries can happen. But it's also easy to
say next man up. It's another thing when a player
of this significance goes down. And even if you want
(07:23):
to have that next man up theory, you also understand
that with due respect to whoever step in in, they
ain't the guy that you just lost.
Speaker 3 (07:30):
I'll put it like this, think about losing your star quarterback.
You're a starting quarterback. Sure, yeah, you two other guys
on the roster, yep, And they have to step in
and show up and show out.
Speaker 5 (07:43):
It's not the same.
Speaker 3 (07:44):
Sure, the offense cannot function the same way, and I
believe it's the same way when you replace a left tack,
when you lose a Pro Bowl left tackle, someone of
his caliber, one of the great young stars in this
league at that position. It changes how you now can
approach defenses. You can no longer not worry about what's
(08:08):
going on. Case in point, Deon Sanders. Sure, Deon Sanders
would be standing over there when the defense was huddled.
Speaker 5 (08:16):
Up, and you just didn't throw that side of the field.
Speaker 3 (08:19):
You knew, no matter what was going on, he was fine.
So when you're calling these offensive plays, you know we
can turn the whole protection away.
Speaker 6 (08:31):
Right.
Speaker 3 (08:31):
He can be on an island, he can shint, he's
okay over there. That's why he gets paid so much. Sure,
so we can do some things and know that he
can hold up against whatever they're trying to do. Now
that's gone, right, So now you have to reconfigure and
have a different approach in how you're going to attack
(08:53):
defenses because now most likely you're going to have to
have some form of health to help whoever is replacing him.
And that changes the playbook dramatically, and it also changes
This is one thing. The reason quarterbacks love left tackles
(09:14):
is because they don't have to worry about anything. I
got you, We're good, ye, right. I've been there. I've
had tremendous relationships with the quarterbacks I've played with, and
they'll throw a touchdown pass or a big play and
they'll look at me, tap me on nail. We had
a bunch of plays designed for me to be alone.
(09:35):
That's why I call it the island. DB's have an island.
Left tackles have an island. That island is lonely. And
when you're going against the Jason Taylor's, the Dwight Freenies,
the Charles Haley's, the straight hands, it gets really lonely.
Speaker 5 (09:52):
Sure, I spent.
Speaker 3 (09:54):
My career being alone on an island and crying the
night before most games. But it's that trust that the
offensive coordinator has in you, that those other four guys
on the offensive line has, that the quarterback has to know,
all right, even when we call this play, it's we're
(10:15):
good over here. So now you can focus on other things.
It's gone now. So now the biggest person this is
gonna hurt is justin herb of course. So now he
has to keep an eye on, you know, his blind side,
like he has to check there, which takes you from
your reads downfield.
Speaker 5 (10:34):
That's the tough part.
Speaker 3 (10:35):
Are you have a back over here chipping which doesn't
allow them to get out? You take away a lot
of empty sets where backs they're you know, free release
right away. It changes your dynamic.
Speaker 2 (10:49):
And I know.
Speaker 3 (10:52):
Everybody upstairs and the coaching staff, especially on offensively, they
they're willing right now because they're trying to figure out, Okay,
how to we plug a hole that you can't plug?
Speaker 4 (11:03):
Last question, and I think I already know the answer
based on everything you've said over the last couple of minutes. Chargers,
as I said, were you know Chiefs coming off that
frustrating loss in the Super Bowl?
Speaker 5 (11:14):
They get beat up?
Speaker 4 (11:15):
Whatever, you know, Buffalo has the point being a lot
of people this was the trendy Could they win the division?
First of all? But also you know, if you want
to call it a dark horse, pseudo dark horse super
Bowl contender, I assume that, based on everything that you've
told me that's essentially off the table, that the expectations
for this team in twenty twenty five should be altered
(11:40):
or changed if you believed it.
Speaker 5 (11:42):
Absolutely.
Speaker 3 (11:44):
You can't lose a position like left tackle at that
level and be like no, we're good, No, we're good.
Just like you couldn't lose a quarterback sure and be like, no,
we're how many Tom Brady's are on teams right now
in terms of being back up, coming in, ready to
right carry the tool right away. Those they're outliers out there.
(12:06):
And I'd be interesting to see what the Chargers are
trying to do their own phones with agents, guys who
have played and all pro guys who maybe have retired
or not quite retired.
Speaker 5 (12:18):
Jump in real quick.
Speaker 4 (12:18):
I think producer Rob told us they're going to try
to move Joe Alt from right tackle to left tackle,
and I would ask you how, because again, right tackle
isn't on an island. Right tackle isn't the blind side.
If that's the move one, you obviously have to find
a right tackle.
Speaker 5 (12:35):
Now.
Speaker 4 (12:35):
How easy or is it easy even for a first
round pick like Joe Alt to make that conversion? And
let me dumb like dumb it down for us as
much as you can understand, like, how different is the playbook?
How different is this? How different is not just the
responsibility of being on the blind side, being on an island,
but also just I don't even know, just just the
(12:59):
playbook whatever.
Speaker 3 (13:00):
So the great thing about them, if they do decide
to move their first round pick this year to left tackle,
which he played, which he played in college.
Speaker 5 (13:12):
That bowls well for him.
Speaker 3 (13:13):
He's a natural left tackle, and so making that transition
when I came into the league. When I got drafted,
I was a left tackle, but we had a perennial
pro bowler, Bob Whitfield, the behemoth from stanfordst at left tackle.
So when I got to training camp, I was fifth
on the depth chart or fourth on the depth chart
at left tackle. Something happened, somebody got hurt on the
(13:36):
right side. So I moved over and took advantage of
the opportunity and ended up starting my rookie year at
right tackle. Everything was different. Okay, it's like you're right handed.
Start writing with your left hand, right right. It's the
simple things like that, whatever you would do, you knife
and fork, put it in your other hand. Okay, and so,
(13:58):
but this is happening in a matter of seconds, sure
to where your technique is perfect at left tackle our
right tackle, and then you switch over and now you're
thinking about your technique makes sense, and that split second
of thinking can be detrimental to your offense.
Speaker 4 (14:15):
It's an unbelievable situation, as Manzi told you to lead
the show where Shaun Slater left tackle Los Angeles Chargers
out for the season with a torn pateller tender, torn
patella tendon and yeah, and Chargers obviously reeling, as I
from just said, probably on the phones right now, working
really hard to figure out what the next move is
(14:37):
because it is crippling.
Speaker 5 (14:38):
This is the Odd Couple.
Speaker 4 (14:40):
Fox Sports Radio erontors E from salam In for Rob
Parker and Kelvin Washington coming up.
Speaker 5 (14:46):
Tell you what from.
Speaker 4 (14:47):
This isn't the only big injury news in Los Angeles.
Another big name. We don't quite know exactly when he'll
be ready or if he'll be ready. We'll explain next
Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 2 (15:01):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Odd Couple
with Rob Parker and Kelvin Washington weekdays at seven pm
Eastern four pm Pacific on Fox Sports Radio and the
iHeartRadio app.
Speaker 4 (15:12):
Welcome back, everybody, This is the Odd Couple. Fox Sports Radio.
Rob Parker, Kelvin Washington are out. Aaron Torres Ephrom salam
are In just started the show talking a little bit
about you know, obviously a little bit of a serious
topic here as as as Rashaun Slater is out for
(15:36):
the year, just such a bummer with the Los Angeles Chargers.
Didn't want to switch gears to another team in La
ephrom and that's the Los Angeles Rams. Matthew Stafford is
dealing with an aggravated disc in his back now right now,
Sean McVay saying all the right things back in week one.
(15:57):
We're hoping to be the you know, we're hoping to
have him back for week one. Sean McVay is basically
just downplaying the injury, just saying, you know, it's you know,
thankfully that you know we have time and whatever. Blah
blah blah. The only reason I really want to bring
this up is because listen, I'm not a doctor. We'll
get that, We'll get that caveat out of the way.
(16:18):
Matthew Stafford's thirty seven years old. He has taken a
lot of hits in his career, courtesy of the Detroit Lions,
most most notably, I would just ask, like, I think
it's easy for a coach to.
Speaker 5 (16:32):
Say, ah, yeah, we know, we got a couple weeks
to week one, he'll be good to go. Blah blah blah.
Speaker 4 (16:36):
This just feels like it could be a bigger thing
that right now maybe doesn't feel like a big thing,
but it I just I don't. I just think I
hear thirty seven year old back not practicing right now,
I'm a little bit worried.
Speaker 5 (16:52):
I'm not gonna lie.
Speaker 3 (16:54):
No, I think you have a right to be worried.
But as someone who has similar back issue, it's it
does take a toll on you.
Speaker 5 (17:05):
And I'll say that.
Speaker 3 (17:09):
Matthew Stafford not being readily available this early in training
camp doesn't worry me as much as you would possibly,
as you know, typically you're like, oh what a bag,
Oh no, he's gonna He's played a lot of football
at the highest level and at the lowest level, and
so him McVeigh, they know exactly what they need to
(17:34):
do to get him ready to go and be available
week one. If that's taking the first couple weeks of
training camp off, okay, I get it. I understand it.
It's not ideal. But what's less ideal is them starting
(17:56):
the season without him. Sure are them not having him
this season because they didn't plan to not have him,
And so.
Speaker 5 (18:06):
I think.
Speaker 3 (18:08):
Given him an opportunity to get himself together physically and mentally,
because you got to remember the last couple of years,
what's been the most glaring question for Matthew Stafford.
Speaker 5 (18:22):
Are you done? Yeah? Are you going to retire? Is
this it?
Speaker 3 (18:28):
And it's never no, no, no, I'm coming back. It's well, look,
I'm gonna get with my family. We'll see, we'll see what.
Speaker 5 (18:35):
Right. So he's a player who's reached the highest level.
Speaker 3 (18:39):
He's been in this league a long time. I believe
this is seventeen years for him, and he's deciding if
this is going to be his last year or not
currently as we're in it. And so if that is
the case, he wants to be extra cautious about being
able for the season opposed to doing something tweaking it
(19:09):
and practice and training camp and not being available. So
I get and I understand the cautiousness, especially because retirement
has been in the you know, in his ethos for
a couple of years now.
Speaker 4 (19:25):
Yeah, interesting scenario. And I think, to your point, as
long as he's ready for week one, I just like
I said thirty seven back, it's worth noting. It's just
something to keep a little bit of an eye on.
Jimmy Garoppolo is obviously the backup with the Los Angeles Rams,
so we'll see what happens. Matthew Stafford, by the way,
to be abundantly clear, zero indication that he won't be
(19:45):
ready for week one. It was just something that caught
my eye as we got ready for today's show. This
is the odd couple Fox Sports Radio Aeron Torres and
e from salam In for Rob Parker and Kelvin Washington
should mention aching ease stiff back joints, not Cooper. Some
days your body's just like nope. And on those days,
luckily there's a leaf.
Speaker 5 (20:04):
With just one pill.
Speaker 4 (20:05):
A leaf provides up to twelve hours of pain relief,
so you can keep moving us as directed, We'll come back.
Garrett Bush, host of the Ultimate Cleveland Sports Show, say
this from Cleveland's going to be the center of the
preseason universe here over the next couple of days. Garrett
Bush will join us momentarily, but for the first time
(20:25):
this evening. Mazi belanios, what is trending, Well, we've.
Speaker 7 (20:30):
Got some NFL preseason action, Fallace, that's right football. I
know we've got the Ravens on the Colts right now,
but there's three preseason games starting any minute.
Speaker 6 (20:40):
Now.
Speaker 7 (20:40):
We got the Bengals and the Eagles, and also at
ten Eastern it'll be the Raiders and the Seahawks. But
even though it's only been five minutes in this first quarter,
let me tell you what has happened. So Ravens having
Cooper rush out there at the quarterback position through an
early interception that led to a Colts field goal, but
Baltimore responded Keaton Mitchell, a twenty two years rushing touchdown.
Speaker 5 (21:01):
Colts get the ball back.
Speaker 7 (21:02):
Anthony Richardson gets sacked hard, goes to the sideline holding
his arm.
Speaker 2 (21:08):
Daniel Jones in.
Speaker 5 (21:09):
The game way earlier than they planned.
Speaker 7 (21:13):
We'll see what happens because now the Ravens have the
ball again.
Speaker 5 (21:16):
My Chowney inter up eph from really quick.
Speaker 4 (21:18):
If these two are competing for the starting job and
one goes down with an injury, seems kind of dumb
to put the other guy that might have to play
for him.
Speaker 5 (21:26):
And am I crazy to say that?
Speaker 3 (21:27):
Yeah, because you need neither one of these guys have
been spectacular, That's what I'm saying. So you they the
reps are the most important thing, Okay, So they gotta
figure this out and the only way you can figure
it out is you got Daniel Jones should.
Speaker 5 (21:41):
Be like yes, Like he should be like, this is it.
Speaker 3 (21:44):
This is happening for me, I guess because that gives
him such a huge advantage. So no, he was like, no, no, good,
I played a whole game, man, whatever it is, put
me in I'm good. So this is one of those
situations where he should take a stay in there as
long as they need him or want him to stay
in there, knowing he will be the starter next week.
(22:05):
If the injury is it's you know, it's significant. So
now it's a good thing, okay.
Speaker 5 (22:12):
Fair Daniel Jones for Daniel Jones.
Speaker 6 (22:14):
Daniel Jones.
Speaker 2 (22:16):

The top of your screen. That's what I want to do.
Speaker 4 (22:56):
I want to get to the phones right now because
the story of the first full week of preseason games
is in Cleveland. Shador Sanders and a guy who covers
the Cleveland Browns for the Ultimate Cleveland Sports Show on
ninety two three The Fan in Cleveland. Garrett Bush is
joining us now. Garrett, truly appreciate you joining the Odd
(23:18):
Couple today.
Speaker 5 (23:19):
How are you I'm.
Speaker 6 (23:21):
Doing I'm doing pretty good. We ready to go? Man,
Friday is today.
Speaker 5 (23:25):
Well, let's talk about it.
Speaker 4 (23:26):
I mean, listen, this is the biggest story right now
in preseason football. Shadoor Sanders getting the opportunity to start
Joe Flacco. We know with his age they're gonna give
him time off, and obviously Dylan Gabriel and Kenny Pickett
both banged up.
Speaker 5 (23:41):
I don't know, like, is there excitement? Is there intrigue?
Speaker 6 (23:44):
How?
Speaker 8 (23:45):
What?
Speaker 5 (23:45):
What?
Speaker 4 (23:45):
What word would you use to describe interest from the
fan base in this game?
Speaker 6 (23:51):
Listen, every every television is going to be tuned to
this preseason game. There's a faction of people that are
believers in Shador Sanders. There's another faction of people that
want him to prove it and they don't think that
the hype is real. And then there's another faction of
people that's sitting somewhere in between that's just like, listen,
(24:11):
give me a quarterback. I don't care where we find one.
If it you do or great if not, who cares? Right, Like, so,
everybody that the intriguer is on one hundred and everybody
in the city, and I think around the country is
gonna be watching this.
Speaker 5 (24:23):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (24:23):
I think the story itself, the draft of the college,
the lineage all plays into this. What does your door
need to do to really solidify himself as a possible
starter for the Cleveland Browns And it starts with this
(24:43):
first preseason game tomorrow.
Speaker 6 (24:45):
Well, you know, you play it in the league. And
I tell people all the time, listen, when it comes
down to the NFL, if you can an opportunity, it
might not be the best opportunity in the world. It
may not be the greatest opportunity. You might be playing
with the ones you might even playing with Spody not
gonna be on the team next week, but you got
an opportunity to put solid film on tape, and you
got an opportunity to show that you could do the
(25:07):
basics king. The knock on your door is hey picking
up slow? Can you get in and out of the huddle?
The knock on your door that he's holding the ball
too long? In college and how he's gonna do that
in pros? Did that being getting back the third five steps,
dropping the ball and be on time, knowing the players are,
where the progression and the passing progression is going, and
(25:29):
just looking moving. People do that. It's one of the
panthers I think people. It'll get people more confidence to
say we want to see what this guy has to
offer more. This is the player. This ain't a short
game like he's gonna have to still continue, but he
(25:50):
wants to give some ammunition to go and say maybe
you should get this guy more reps.
Speaker 4 (25:55):
This is the couple of Fox Sports radio erators from
Salaam In for Rob and Kelvin. We are joined by
Garrett Bush of ninety two to three the Fan in Cleveland.
Follow him on Twitter at g Bush ninety one, Garrett,
you know, just big picture with Shador. I don't know
how much access that you guys have had to him
over the course of the spring, summer and now into
(26:17):
the fall.
Speaker 5 (26:18):
But just what is he?
Speaker 4 (26:19):
You know, I saw Miles Garrett say that, you know,
he can be fun, but he could be serious. It
seems like the guys in the locker room to a
degree have responded to him. Just your experiences being around
Shador after everything that we heard around draft times, Well.
Speaker 6 (26:33):
Look, man, everything that I've seen so far shows that
he's a special type of a young guy. I want
to see people throw touchdowns just like everybody else. But
I got to judge based on what you're doing in
between the white lines. But outside of the white lines
is where I get respect for you as the man
and as an individual. And you know some projects you
(26:58):
pulled up he had, he had, he brought people, he
brought food trucks, he brought the community together. He's not
from that area, and he really did that like out
of their own kindness, of his heart, and to just
to see some of those kids looked and not not
be like, oh my goodness, like at one point in
time they were just kids that were just having fun,
(27:19):
not that they lost everything and they're poor and the disenfranchised.
So I respect him with that. He handled a rate.
He's answered the questions with humility, and from what I
could gather of all the people in the locker room,
he talked to people. He's a really enjoyable guy, and
the locker room seems to really gravitate to him.
Speaker 3 (27:37):
Yeah, for me, that's the biggest thing coming into a
locker room as a rookie, having an opportunity to compete
for a starting job. I understood as being a late
round draft pick, and he was.
Speaker 5 (27:50):
I did the maths.
Speaker 3 (27:51):
He was drafted probably I think like fifty four picks
before I was. But the fact of the matter is
I knew I had to do everything right, not only
on the field, but off the field. And he had
a couple issues with some speeding and miscordate that that
set him back in the eyes of the franchise.
Speaker 6 (28:10):
Any Yeah, listen, Andrew Barry came out and he did
since press conference and he talked about that. He was
disappointed in it. He said it was a lapse in
judgment and if you, if you were to ask me,
I do think that that hurt him a little bit.
If you go back and you look at his trajectory
after rookie mini camps, I thought, I thought, this whole camp,
(28:33):
he's throwing the ball better than Dylan Gabriel. However, when
you have anything and you know as being a late
round draft pick, you're you got an uphill battle in
front of you to catch the guy that got drafted
in a third round to start with. So it's always
going to be an uphill battle. See, you gotta overdo it,
you gotta kill it when you on the field, and
you got to keep your head down and make sure
that you were acclimating to to the rules regulation. So,
(28:55):
you know, is relatively I think he's a good kid,
not kid, but you know, he's a good young guy,
and I think he learned from it. But he does
have some spots, some spots to make up and some
space to make up. And he has a golden opportunity
due to some injuries to Dylan Gabriel and Kenny Pickett,
where he can go out there and be a fifth
round pick and be a guy that's going to start
(29:16):
the first preseason game. This is a tremendous opportunity and
he has to take advantage of it.
Speaker 4 (29:22):
Garrett Bush from ninety two to three to the Fan
in Cleveland. We got about one minute left. Last question.
We know that if you include Tyler Huntley who just signed,
and you include Deshaun Watson, who of course isn't going
to play this year, six quarterbacks currently on the roster.
Do you believe Week one Shador Sanders will still be
part of this organization?
Speaker 6 (29:42):
Yes, I do. I think you know, Andrew Barry was
asked about it. I think the Browns may actually keep
four quarterbacks. Joe Flackle will probably end up being the
starter due to Kenny Tickett, you know, missing some time.
But the Browns kind of view their fifty three man
roster the last three or four positions on that roster's
developmental picks. I think they'll use those to keep those
guys on the active roster. And I actually think the
(30:03):
Cleveland Browns will have four quarterbacks on the main roster
Week one.
Speaker 4 (30:09):

We know what time it is. It's time for Play

this one Cleveland and again he's gone o w strat
the thirty two men to beat.
Speaker 2 (32:10):
Western couldie Well, he's going peel rolling Conka Tron track
pick take it to the house. Well, Joe Tayl Wester
eighty seven yards?
Speaker 5 (32:22):
How about that?
Speaker 4 (32:22):
Lejonte Wester is actually a former Colorado Buffalo. We were
just talking about Shador. That was the Play of the Day,

(32:44):
tire buying should be again Lejonte Wester with the return
for the touchdown the former Colorado Buffalo eighty seven yard
touchdown return. So ephraim really quickly, kind of an interesting
piece of news from the world of sports media, kind
of our lane. But last couple of days it's been
(33:05):
officially announced ESPN and NFL Network have merged. Why I
bring it up, this is stunning to me, but there's
been a lot of conversation about red zone. Red zone
is of course the channel that you can put on
all the different games that the other thing, and basically
it is a staple for many who watch who watch
(33:29):
the NFL on Sundays. Roger Goodell was asked about it
on Wednesday. He said, quote, ESPN purchased the red zone name,
and they will be able to utilize that for other
sports college football and other things. And I think that
could be an exciting thing for our fans to see
a red zone maybe in college football or other sports.
That's something that they now own and have the ability
(33:49):
to do that. First of all, really quickly, am I
told correctly, you don't like red zone?
Speaker 3 (33:56):
No, I don't watch red zone. You don't watch Red Zone. No,
why because I watch all eight or nine games at
one time. Do you have eight separate monitors? Okay, I
mean listen, I'm not.
Speaker 5 (34:08):
Really in my business right now. I mean I'm just
really dipping into some personal I mean, I don't know,
you got two phones. I mean, get your hand on
my pocket.
Speaker 6 (34:15):
Man.
Speaker 3 (34:16):
Games, I watch them, and I've done that. That was
my problem with YouTube taking over Sunday Ticket. On Sunday Ticket,
they put all eight games on at one time. Sure,
you had eight games going at one time, local game whatever.
I love that because now I could just boom, I
put it on. If there's one game, the ninth game,
(34:39):
I can have my iPads set up and watch them.
But I watch every single play in every single game.
Speaker 5 (34:44):
Wow.
Speaker 3 (34:45):
And been doing that since I've been retired, since I've
been you know, up here talking about it, because I
like to be informed about what I'm talking about. Sure,
so I have a Sundays from five to eight pm,
myself and Mark will to have our show, and so
we don't know where the conversation is going to go.
And I pride myself on being able to speak to
(35:06):
whatever happens in whatever game, especially during football season, because
it's so much and these topics can come from anywhere.
So I'm taking notes and then being able to come
in here and talk about it. So Red Zone doesn't
do anything for me. Red Zone's not going to show me,
you know right now the interers. I don't want to
(35:26):
see the stuff that happened already. And then, you know,
I will say this, the time I did enjoy Red Zone,
I was in London and they had one game on.
They had the one game on, but then they had
Red Zone in the hotel and it allowed me to
(35:47):
get the pieces of the other games. Sure that was great,
But if I'm at home, I got to set up right.
So I had two televisions and I can have four
on the screen and four on that screen. Okay, so
I can. And they're not small screens, so it's not
like I'm looking at each game on a nineteen inch monitor. Sure,
(36:12):
so it bowls well for it helps me to watch
it like that Red Zone just it's a lot going
on now you watch Red Zone. I do like Red Zone, Yeah,
most people do. I will say that we went to
the callers and that one caller said I don't like
Red Zone.
Speaker 4 (36:28):
Yeah no, And there you know, every different strokes for
different folks, and I think to your point, like you
have a different vantage point than I do, where like
you know, respectfully, like I, you know, you're watching the
footwork and the left tackle, you know, like I'm just
watching the guy get get the quarterback get blown up right.
You know, you need to see the footwork of the
left tackle. So I get that Cadell referencing. By the way,
(36:50):
a very interesting little thing in there, the idea of
a college football red zone. Now, understandably, with different TV
contracts and all that, it gets a little bit complicated.
Would you be in favor? Would you be interested on
a Saturday you know, you you know, you maybe don't
have to watch the college game as closely? Would you
be as interested in a college red zone where they're
(37:13):
jumping in and out of games all day, every day,
or all day every Saturday.
Speaker 3 (37:16):
I can see how that would be appealing and people
would like that. But for me, how many great college
games are on at this They're on at the same time. Yep,
that's the whole thing. It's not that the NFL, it's
just right, it's it's games. But in college they'll have
(37:40):
the early game, which is the gotta be there for
then they'll have a little bit of low than like
the third game is the great game, and then Saturday
evening to be another big game. But if you want
to watch Middle Tennessee versus allcorn State, sure, then okay, yeah, yeah.
(38:00):
So for me, I can see how for gamblers and
people who who enjoy the spectacle of it, I can
see how that fits and that works, and I get it,
and I can see how there's value there. But for me,
if I'm watching the college game, if it's not San
Diego State, then I'm watching the next big game.
Speaker 5 (38:24):
That is okay. Yeah, it's an interesting thought.
Speaker 4 (38:27):
I mean, you know, somebody brought up a great point
of like, it sounds great in theory, and I think
it would be good. The other counter to it is
there are so many teams like Scott Hansen, as great
as he is, and this isn't gonna I hope this
doesn't sound like I'm saying he's not great, but he's
got to know thirty two teams, thirty two rosters, you
know whatever.
Speaker 5 (38:44):
It's like.
Speaker 4 (38:45):
College football is one hundred plus teams. Plus you have
the scenario where you know, certain broadcast limitations for certain whatever,
but it is an interesting thought. Roger Goodell saying on Wednesday,
ESPN purchased the red zone name. They will be able
to utilize it that for other sports, college football and
other things. So there is a possibility that we are
(39:07):
getting a college football red zone in the future. Fox
Sports Radio, this is the odd couple. Kelvin and robout
RATORSI from slam In when we come back more college football,
arch Manning?
Speaker 5 (39:19):
Could he be a texas long as we expect? Fox Sports,
are you
