Speaker 6 (01:50):
I'd say greetings from one of your former co workers,
Harvey Raton.

Speaker 5 (01:55):
Yes, from the New York to Mario at the New
York Times.

Speaker 1 (01:58):
Yeah, Harvey and I were together this morning, Chris teaching
kids the New York Times Summer Journalism program at Fordham University.

Speaker 6 (02:07):
And it was awesome. About thirty kids. They were great,
great questions. It was a good time.

Speaker 5 (02:12):
All right, that sounds great.

Speaker 4 (02:15):
Let's introduce the I Couple crew and get this party started.
Super producer Rob g is in the house on the
Updates you heard it, Moncey Billanos, and of course on
the ones and twos, our man DJ Alex Tyshert on
this worship Wednesday.

Speaker 5 (02:34):
All right, Rob, there was a report that.

Speaker 4 (02:38):
The Los Angeles Clippers are open to moving Paul George.
A lot of executives believe that they're quietly gauging his
trade value.

Speaker 5 (02:54):
Now there is a report.

Speaker 4 (02:55):
Of course, then you just heard MONSI say that the
Clippers are involved in the team deal with Boston in
which the Clippers would get back Malcolm Brogden. So, Rob,
I think if you're bringing back Malcolm Brogden, that would
seem to signify to.

Speaker 5 (03:13):
Me that you're going for it, that you're not going
to do.

Speaker 7 (03:19):
That.

Speaker 4 (03:19):
You're you know, you're trying to win a championship. You're
not trying to do a rebuild just yet. So this report,
of course might be off, but let's play off the
premise that it's accurate.

Speaker 5 (03:30):
Would you do you think that's the right move for
the Clippers?

Speaker 6 (03:35):
Absolutely not. I just.

Speaker 1 (03:39):
Again, I'm kind of liking the Zion camp. You know
they just one year, you're gonna have some good luck
and both guys will.

Speaker 6 (03:49):
Be able to play.

Speaker 1 (03:50):
Like I just want if I'm Steve Baum, I'm not
trying to start over. I'm not looking for other people.
I want to give it one more shot in place Chris,
and then if it's over after that, he has plenty
of money, he can do whatever he He doesn't have
to worry about the luxury tax and doing something out
of the box. I just would let it roll run

(04:10):
one more time. And I'm not sure rob G or
Chris you might know.

Speaker 6 (04:13):
I don't.

Speaker 1 (04:14):
I just think rob G might because he lives in
LA have an ear to the to the Crown. Is
the stadium opening the new Rena Neglewood? Is it after
the next season, after the next season, Yeah, that's why.
So so you know, like, do you want a chance
at winning a championship? I'm just saying, Chris and opening

(04:36):
a new building, I think that's what you want to do.
So I don't see why you would break it up.
At this point, they got to the Western Conference finals
where Paul Georgian without Kawhi.

Speaker 6 (04:47):
You know, they've had bad luck.

Speaker 1 (04:50):
I just you think one day, every dog has his day,
and the Clippers one day, and remember they did get
out to Chris when they were together, and that they
blew a three one lead right that choked there. I
was a had a really good team, but I think.

Speaker 4 (05:04):
That was really the only chance they had because they've
been injured every other year.

Speaker 6 (05:08):
Yep. So so I wouldn't. I wouldn't do that. I
wouldn't pull the plug on it.

Speaker 4 (05:12):
Well, I agree with the majority of what you said.
I agree with that sentiment. They the one thing that
telled them back is injuries. It's not like they aren't
good enough, it is simply injuries. Now, of course, in
the bubble, they did blow a three to one lead
to Denver in the second round, so that that's the

(05:34):
one chance they had to make good on this quote
unquote super team and they blew it. But I, for
the most part, there is a scenario in which I
would move Paul George. But for the most part I
do agree with you, Rob, is that I would run
it back with George and Kawhi and just hope they

(05:57):
stay healthy. Now next season they're both Kawhi is thirty two,
Georgia's thirty three. Next season after this upcoming one, both
players haven't opt out, and players tend to opt out
of their contracts and try to get a longer deal
for more money. So with that being the case, Rob,

(06:22):
I would think about, look, let me run it back,
see if these guys can stay healthy, see if we
can have a great year. Because if they're healthy, I
think they are right there at the top of the
teams that could challenge the Denver Nuggets in the West.
But I would give them a shot and then after

(06:42):
if it like they get hurt next season or Kawhi
again misses the playoffs and.

Speaker 5 (06:48):
They opt out. Now maybe Kawhi.

Speaker 4 (06:50):
Wouldn opt out because of his injury history, but if
they do opt out, I'm letting them walk or I'm
trying to do a sign and trade or something, and
then you know, you go into the new arena in Inglewood.
But the one caveat rob because there's talk about is
the number two pick or maybe the number three pick

(07:11):
in play for Paul George. We know that Damian Lillard
wants to, you know, get a team, get a trade
that'll enable him to compete. I don't think he and
Paul George would win the West, but I bet you
that's the type of trade that Damian Lillard would look
fondly at and think, Okay, we got a shot. And

(07:33):
so if I'm the Clippers and I can get the
number three pick, which right now could be Scoot Henderson,
who a lot of people think is going to be
a great point guard.

Speaker 6 (07:42):
I thought he was number two. I thought he was going.

Speaker 5 (07:44):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (07:44):
Now there's talk that Charlotte might like Brandon Miller more.
You know, it's a lot of games going on at
this point, so you never know exactly. But and then
if they like Miller too, I don't know you know
how much they like him, But if they really love
one of those two guys, Rob, then and obviously you
might get something else, maybe in Anthony Simon's or a

(08:08):
Jeremy Grant, you know, and as sign and trade along
with the deal. But something like that, I would look
at that.

Speaker 5 (08:15):
That's because chances are I hate to say that they
aren't gonna be healthy. They've been. Of the three, there's
three teams in the West.

Speaker 4 (08:24):
Rob where you gotta factor in injuries, the Lakers, the Suns,
and the Clippers. But the Clippers, I think more than anyone,
because they just never healthy, and so would I would
consider it strongly.

Speaker 5 (08:37):
And I don't mind them gauge in the market for George.

Speaker 4 (08:42):
I don't think they should just be shopping him like
we got to get rid of him at all costs.
But I think it's wise the gauge the the gauge
the market and see what you can get for.

Speaker 1 (08:51):
Absolutely, you gotta do your due diligence. You got to
think about all the things. If you could ever feel
like you could improve the team and move it forward,
word and you know and get out of this malaise
that has been injuries. Yep, then you then you do it,
but but you just don't change just to be changing,
you know like that that I don't agree because just

(09:12):
as much as you think, well, it can't get any worse,
it can't get worse, Chris, maybe maybe whoever you get
it just isn't that good, healthy on our or not.
And that's the scary part where you have those two
guys and it's like I said, like the Zion thing,
you just haven't seen it. They had it one time.
I would want to give it one more shot and

(09:33):
if it doesn't happen, you did all you could and
it just wasn't meant to be. That's how you have
to look at it.

Speaker 4 (09:39):
Well, and Bomber, let's just keep it real. Can't afford it.

Speaker 5 (09:44):
It's not like he.

Speaker 4 (09:45):
Has to break up this team because of the money.
So he can afford it. So you don't have to rush.
If you don't get the right deal, then I would
be ready to run it back again. It looks like
they're getting Malcolm Brogden. That's it's a strong point guard
for that group. They don't need like a high scoring
point guard they just need.

Speaker 5 (10:07):
I wonder, I don't.

Speaker 4 (10:07):
I'm not sure what that means for Westbrook, but he
you know, Malcolm Brogden is a very capable point guard
and I think he'd be a good fit with the Clippers.
So they could run it back and see how it goes.
Rob the alternative if you were to break this down,
and that would mean more than getting rid of Paul George,

(10:29):
but Kawhi Leonard as well. Why like the Clippers have
been it was a different regime, yes, but they've been
to the lottery time and time and time and time
and time and time again.

Speaker 6 (10:44):
Forty times, Chris. So that's what it feels like.

Speaker 4 (10:47):
And for two decades in eighteen years, they made the
playoffs twice. So you obviously had a ton of lottery
picks and they didn't do anything with it.

Speaker 1 (10:57):
They had so many like oh my god, I don't
know the Michael Oliver Candy.

Speaker 5 (11:02):
Era, Chris can we old over a Candy.

Speaker 4 (11:06):
And Quentin Richardson, Darius Miles, you know years where you
thought they were turning things around and it didn't pan out.
And you know, they got Blake Griffin and that was
a nice era. Lob City, but they didn't obviously didn't
win anything, didn't even get to the conference finals. But
I just robbed their relevant right now. And if they

(11:28):
can stay healthy, I don't know. Look, Kawhi has his
own medical people, and he's a unique case.

Speaker 5 (11:38):
I don't know.

Speaker 4 (11:38):
Do they need to look at their training staff? Every
training staff in the NBA is not created equal, you know, but.

Speaker 1 (11:46):
No, because you wonder why some teams just can't stay
healthy and then other teams they don't have nearly the problem.
Not that nobody ever gets hurt Chris, but just like
the severity of it for them. I mean, how many
time you look at why Wentz and then he's out
for the next three months. He's just I'll mean, like
what it's just I'm telling you two years ago when

(12:08):
he was racing down the court, Chris dribbling, and the
other player just bumped him.

Speaker 6 (12:13):
You remember that, right, Like like he didn't.

Speaker 1 (12:17):
Elbow woman knock him down, you know, like he was
trying to get at the ball and bumped him a
little bit, and he had that little expression on.

Speaker 6 (12:25):
His face, and I was like, he's Hurney play.

Speaker 5 (12:28):
He played after that a little bit, and then the
next thing you know he's out.

Speaker 6 (12:32):
Yeah, he's right.

Speaker 4 (12:34):
It's frustrating, There's no doubt about it. Let's throw it
out to the listeners. Eight seven seven ninety nine on

All right, Chris, let's kick it off with the Elvis
and Alabama the Bama. That's right, you're on the couple
of Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 6 (14:27):
What up Elvis?

Speaker 10 (14:28):
Going on?

Speaker 11 (14:29):
Guys? How are you doing today?

Speaker 10 (14:31):
How are you hey? For make my point? I want
to shout out a good thought for the people in
the submersible.

Speaker 2 (14:36):
Man.

Speaker 11 (14:37):
I hope, uh, I hope they're at peace at least
I mean I hope they're found.

Speaker 10 (14:42):
Of course, but I hope they're at peace.

Speaker 6 (14:44):
Well, there's banging.

Speaker 1 (14:46):
They say that they're banging on the on the vessel, Chris,
So they think that people are still alive in there.

Speaker 6 (14:52):
Unbelievable.

Speaker 5 (14:53):
Yeah, yeah, definitely good thought.

Speaker 10 (14:55):
So so, Chris, you're you malade a stavement just a
little bit ago that that the Clippers were relevant. So
who I mean?

Speaker 2 (15:05):
Because to me, they're not.

Speaker 6 (15:08):
Relevant Clippers.

Speaker 10 (15:09):
They're the same clippers that they've did for forty years.

Speaker 12 (15:12):
You just.

Speaker 4 (15:15):
The conference finals two years ago, about every year for
the last decade. Yes, and what well, once they got
to the conference finals, they've been to the second round
platy of times.

Speaker 5 (15:29):
We get it. They're not they haven't won.

Speaker 4 (15:30):
A championship, but they are if you talk about the
top ten, if you talk about the top ten teams
in the league that have shot, they were in that discussion.

Speaker 5 (15:41):
Yeah, it happened for a long time.

Speaker 10 (15:45):
What makes the relevant to me? My bar? My bar
is higher than yours.

Speaker 11 (15:49):
Anyway, what's your bar?

Speaker 6 (15:51):
Champion? What is it?

Speaker 5 (15:52):
Who? What's according to you? Who?

Speaker 6 (15:55):
Two teams irrelevant?

Speaker 10 (15:57):
Right?

Speaker 12 (15:57):
Right?

Speaker 6 (15:57):
Right? All right?

Speaker 5 (16:00):
Is he gone?

Speaker 12 (16:01):
Yeah?

Speaker 4 (16:01):
I mean they they own the Lakers beat them eleven
straight times.

Speaker 6 (16:06):
But the Lakers are relevant, and they're not right saying.

Speaker 4 (16:09):
That the Lakers have Lebron and a D but still
I mean rob to say the Clippers aren't relevant.

Speaker 1 (16:14):
The injuries every year when you do like the top
eight or ten teams and say like who's in the mix,
they were in the mix.

Speaker 4 (16:23):
And if they would if you knew they would stay healthy,
they'd be in the championship mix.

Speaker 6 (16:27):
Exactly.

Speaker 1 (16:28):
If you knew for sure Drew in New Jersey, you're
on the odd couple of Fox Sports Radio?

Speaker 6 (16:33):
What up?

Speaker 12 (16:33):
Drew far as relevant as soon as they yes, because
maybe he's gonna share the same arena they you know,
they're not getting all the polish they get, but global
as they do. I think once they move they'll get
even more. I think this has been the best they've
been in decades, even even better than a lot of

(16:55):
city And as far as breaking up, why break them up?
What were where people going out of going out at
del Moury? What does he want? I don't get it?

Speaker 6 (17:05):
Thank you, that's fair. I'm with you.

Speaker 5 (17:08):
I mean Philadelphia, right, is Philadelphia irrelevant? No? They got
but they haven't been. They haven't even got to a
conference final.

Speaker 13 (17:16):
The Clippers with the conference finals two years ago, not
ten years ago. Two years ago, right, Yeah, I just
I think you gotta be careful, Like, I get it.

Speaker 1 (17:26):
They You're right, Chris, they haven't won a championship. But
to say that they're not relevant or they're not one
of the best eight or ten teams in the league
when they're healthy is ridiculous. Brandon in Riverside, California. You're
on the odd couple, Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 6 (17:41):
What up beat going on?

Speaker 2 (17:43):
Guys?

Speaker 7 (17:44):
Man?

Speaker 5 (17:45):
What's up?

Speaker 10 (17:48):
Yeah? I'm two guys. You can't you can't trade him.
You can't trade him. Give me one more year, because god,
if they can just stay healthy. Man, they probably round
banners the lease right now, to be honest.

Speaker 12 (18:02):
But.

Speaker 10 (18:04):
I say they're relevant, Keith Paul George, Uh, that's the case.
If you're gonna trade them, they have to be like
you know, for Dame Lillard or something like that, because
that's the only way it would make him. And they
got that new stadium coming, so right, you want to
keep you want to you want to feel their own seat.
So I think keep them together one more year, give

(18:26):
it one more year. This may be the year, they
could say Helston because DWHI Leonard shows that if he
could stay healthy, they they're pretty hard and seeing the
guards and I don't and I think they would be
giver And you know, I don't think that's a bad
match up for him in generous if.

Speaker 4 (18:44):
They were healthy, I think they they could be maybe
Diver's toughest opponent our way the size and Zuboch, Yeah,
they got a big obs, got the great wings and
Kawhi and Paul George Westbrook brings uh explosiveness, energy that
X factor energy up like they got shooting like they

(19:05):
have it and they got a great coach and they just.

Speaker 1 (19:08):
I'm glad you said that because TYLERU is going off
to Richter scale for me, like I did not know
how good of a coach he was. I didn't because
you know, sometimes you hes got Lebron James. Of course
he's anybody could coach Lebron James. But no, when you
look at what he's been able to do after Doc

(19:28):
Rivers and Chris, that happened like almost immediately, you.

Speaker 4 (19:31):
Know, right he got where Doc had never been at
least you know, since Boston won the championship or got
to the finals or what fifteen years ago, almost so Yeah,
I think most listeners agree with us.

Speaker 7 (19:47):
Rob.

Speaker 5 (19:48):
Look, I'm not saying he's untradeable, Paul George.

Speaker 4 (19:54):
I'm just saying be careful and make sure you get
a haul if you trade.

Speaker 1 (20:00):
You can't have to Chris, you this this, and we
talk about all the time. This is a business too,
you know, like this is a business and you don't
want to go into trying to sell tickets or whatever.
And people feel, Chris, like you're tearing it down right,
like you can't like that?

Speaker 5 (20:19):
Well that would be interesting.

Speaker 4 (20:20):
And I gotta admit, Rob, like, if they if they
opt out next season, you know, after next season and
they get hurt again this year, I'm not re signing them.
I mean maybe it's signing trade, you know, but I
would be ready to move on if that.

Speaker 1 (20:38):
You know, what if they were to win or whatever, Chris,
and you know, you could you could actually.

Speaker 6 (20:43):
Say, well, I got what I wanted, which was a championship.

Speaker 5 (20:46):
Like if they won it this year and then aft
it out.

Speaker 1 (20:49):
And no, well yeah, or you decide, yeah, if they
opted out because they wanted bigger deals and you decide
I'm good, or do we.

Speaker 5 (20:58):
Got the one year? What you guys healthy. Let's not
push it.

Speaker 1 (21:02):
Let's not push it and think that we're gonna sign
you for four more years and we're gonna win another
two championships for a franchise like that, and Steve Balmer
I would be more than happy and oh, gladly take
my one championship.

Speaker 5 (21:15):
All right. We got Eddie House coming up in a moment,
But first.

Speaker 2 (21:18):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Odd Couple
with Chris Brussard and Rob Parker weekdays at seven pm
Eastern four pm Pacific on Fox Sports Radio and the
iHeartRadio app.

Speaker 5 (21:29):
When you hear this music, you know what time it is.

Speaker 4 (21:31):
We got the NBA champion, the Fox Sports Radio NBA analyst,
our man, Eddie House in the house.

Speaker 5 (21:39):
What's up, brother, Ah, you you're good. Great day to
have you on. You're well aware.

Speaker 4 (21:47):
I'm sure of the trade talk that the Celtics are going.
Essentially they will get Christaps Porzingis and they will lose
Malcolm Brigges. And it's a three team deal with the
Wiz and the Clippers. If this is the case, do
you like this for the Celtics?

Speaker 11 (22:05):
I like it for this reason. It gives us more
size a little bit more versatility at the big position.
Robert Williams not known as a great offensive threat, so
and I think he gives a little bit more offense
than Al Horford can give at this particular point, you know,
not just a spot up shooter. But Al definitely did

(22:27):
a great job last year knocking down shots just in
the playoffs, wasn't there. But I like this. I just
don't think that this is you don't need to feel
like you're done after this. You know, there's more, there's
more to get done, There's more opportunities out there. There's
a lot of things that you know, talking about drafts
and free agency, there's some holes that can be plugged
up to solidify this team and making another championship run.

Speaker 4 (22:51):
Now, Chris Staves, I mean being you know, over seven
feet tall. He obviously can block shots, but still not
really what you call a great defender. Do you think
this like like one of the things was Udoka had
him as more of a defensive team and obviously Missoula,
Joe Missoula, they were more offensive minded. Do you think

(23:14):
this is kind of doubling down on that in bringing
in Porzingis, who if he's healthy, you would assume he's
gonna get a lot of time. Do the average twenty
three points last year.

Speaker 11 (23:26):
Yeah, No, I don't think it's a doubling down on
I think they the mindset has to change. It has
to be one of I can get stops. I mean,
you look at even Denver. You know, they were able
to score the basketball like crazy whenever they wanted to
at times, but for the most part they played great defense,
you know, and as the playoffs went on, Denver got
better defensively. You got to hang your hat on defense.

(23:47):
You can't double down on offense. We see how offensive
minded teams usually go. I was a part of one
in Phoenix where you know, the seven seconds or less,
and we really didn't concentrate that much on defense. Our
focus was on just trying to outscore people. The shots
aren't falling, you got to get stopped. And when you
haven't really been putting the emphasis on that side of
the ball, when the going gets tough, then you know,

(24:08):
it's hard for you to muster up those habits because
you haven't created them. So I don't think they're doubling
down on offense. I just think that they're getting offensively
better and at the same time like you said, he's
a seven footer that he still can protect the rim
at some point, you know, and he's a lot more
mature than he was when he was in Dallas. I'm
talking about his body as well. So yeah, I like

(24:29):
this move a lot. Like I said, it's a couple
more things you see what they can do in the
draft and and from there move forward. But you know
it's a good start.

Speaker 1 (24:37):
Brown and Tatum, No, no, did you ever think about
maybe splitting those guys up or you feel good about
the many that they can win together?

Speaker 11 (24:47):
I think they can when they prove that they have
won together. You know, they've been there, they just haven't
won the championship.

Speaker 6 (24:53):
Well that's what I'm talking about, that they could win
a championship together.

Speaker 11 (24:57):
Yeah, I think they can. Man, you got two verses wing,
who can defend, who can score at three levels, you know,
three mid range and finishing at the rim. I think
that you know, they have to be putting in sometimes
better situations for them to score, so they're constantly not
having to go through four or five guys when they're

(25:17):
trying to score. Make it a little easier, let them
get some easier shots. But I think they can and
to give up so soon. You got to think these
guys are twenty six, twenty seven years old. They're still young.
Some one guy just reaching into his prime, you know,
And so all these things do take time, and it's
what we are. We are prisoners at the moment, and
that's what our jobs are to be is talk about

(25:39):
what happens, right, and so I think they can win.
To answer your question, yes.

Speaker 5 (25:44):
What are your thoughts about?

Speaker 4 (25:46):
You know, there's a lot of talking about Damian Lillard.
Should he ask out, should he finally you know, relent
and go ahead and be traded, or you know, there's
the talk that they could get with that third pick
player that could make them a contender.

Speaker 5 (26:01):
I don't think that trade as out there, Eddie.

Speaker 4 (26:04):
I don't think they're gonna be able to get enough
for that third pick to make them a legit contender.
So I think they should go into different director. If
you can get Zion or Paul George. Maybe not. Maybe
you certainly tried one more year with Dame, but I
think kind of like the team you were one when
Garnett didn't want to be traded and then he goes

(26:26):
to Boston wins the championship with you guys and wishes
he had gone to Boston earlier. I think Dame would
feel the same way if he went to Philly or somewhere,
and even if they didn't win it, he just had
a great chance to win it.

Speaker 5 (26:39):
I think he'd like it.

Speaker 4 (26:41):
So do you think Portland should kind of talk to
him and say, look, let's go in different directions because
you and our young guys are just on totally different timetables.

Speaker 11 (26:51):
I hear where you're coming from with that. But at
the same time, if I'm the organization, right, I'm looking
at that third pick in from all mock drafts and
that everybody's talking about, like Scoot Henderson has the opportunity
to be there, right, So who better to learn from
than Damian Lillis if you bring in a guy like him.
So I think that you know, he could be the
bridge to the future and eventually say in the middle

(27:14):
of the season, we're not going anywhere. But he was
able to absorb game from Dame for however long it was,
you know, the four or five months that it was there,
the four months that you know he was able to
be around him to give him a little bit to
show him what it is and then you could shop Dame,
but you definitely have to have him call him in
you it can be something that's blindsided.

Speaker 10 (27:35):
I think Dame.

Speaker 11 (27:36):
Deserves because of his loyalty to the city of Portland,
to that organization and what he's done not only for
that team but also what he's done around that community.
I think he deserves them to say, hey, man, what
do you want to do? And I think it's ultimately
at the end of Dame's call. It should be Dame's call.
But we know this. This business is funny, man. You know,

(27:56):
it doesn't matter about what you did yesterday if they
don't think that you could do it again tomorrow. They
really don't care about what you did yesterday or even
today if you can't duplicate it and keep it going. Yeah,
they don't care, but they need. He definitely has earned
a phone call from UH from the Portland Trailblazers.

Speaker 1 (28:16):
There's talks that maybe that Clippers are shopping Paul George
or at least trying to get his gauge on value
around the league.

Speaker 6 (28:25):
Chris and I don't think that they should do anything.

Speaker 1 (28:27):
They need to be healthy and give it another shot
where are you want the Clippers? Would you make a
move if you saw something attractive and could get rid
of Paul George?

Speaker 6 (28:36):
What do you want to running back one more time?

Speaker 11 (28:39):
I'm taking all calls on everybody. You know, I'm not
if I'm if I'm the Clippers, I'm co Why is
not exempts? The guy who doesn't play both of the
game has as great talent as he is. We all
know what he is when he's healthy, but he hasn't
been healthy. Same thing with Paul George. So I'm taking
calls and if I could get something that I feel
can help my team, then that that can help my

(29:03):
team and then also be reliable, because you know, the
best ability is availability, right, So if my guys are
out there, at least I can deal with that. When
your guys aren't out there, and it would be tough
for me to try to run it back again and say, hey,
let me cross my fingers, cross all of my toes
as well, and say I hope they don't get injured
again when their track record shows that they've they've been

(29:23):
getting injured.

Speaker 4 (29:24):
What quickly before you go, we got about a minute
for your answer, minute or two.

Speaker 5 (29:29):
How do you like the Phoenix train, Bradley Beal.

Speaker 11 (29:32):
They got dumb heat over there. When I say dumb heat,
they got some offensive firepower, right, Just what else are
they gonna bring with that?

Speaker 10 (29:40):
I mean?

Speaker 11 (29:41):
And I think Frank I like it because they have
that firepower over there, right, I'm And the one thing
about vote, well, he does well with big so I'm expected.
I know everybody's talking about DeAndre Ayden getting up out
of there, but where do you get to eighteen to
twelve with the walk right? Well, you know, so you
need yeah in kneach size and he rebounding the guy

(30:03):
that could try to. And Frank Vogal has been good
thing what he did with Roy Hibbert and no shot,
no shots to Roy Hibbert. But I don't think Roy
Hibbert is as talented as a DeAndre aight, And that's
just my opinion. And so I think he was able
to elevate Roy Hibbert's game. I think he will be
able to elevate DeAndre Ayton's game. It all is on
the mindset of what Ayton is really wanting out of

(30:24):
this is he coming in with the mindset of like
outside interference doesn't matter. I'm focused on what we're doing
right now, and if the trade happens, the trade happens.
But I got to dive in to what my job
is right now. So I think that's the most important thing.
He has to be able to have Ayton really really
believe in it quickly.

Speaker 5 (30:40):
Eddie, you were a role player.

Speaker 4 (30:42):
I kind of feel like role players around I mean,
now it's not just Booker and Durant. You actually have
three top scores and then you got a really good
player in Ayton. I feel like role players should be
able to really play well around those guys because they're
gonna draw so much.

Speaker 5 (31:00):
Is that too simplistic?

Speaker 11 (31:03):
No, No, it's not. Well, it all depends on what
type of stars you have. Are they ball stoppers? Are
they ball dependent? Are they guys who don't move the basketball?
You know? Are they possession stoppers? Are they selfish players?
And none of those guys. Are all three of those
guys are hoopers? You know, they'll make the right player.
You gotta don't forget that. Devin Booker ran the point.

(31:24):
I want to stay in the bubble, you know, so
he is and in the playoffs, and in the playoffs
he knows how to run the pick and right started
in the bubble though, to learn how to run the
pick and roll and understand how to manipulate that and
get off the ball and get other guys open, and
the understand how it creates space for himself. Kevin Durant
has always been an unselfish superstar, and Bradley bial is

(31:45):
gonna be the third guy. So he's gonna have to
fit in, you know, whatever they're doing, he's gonna have
to do it. He can't be like he can't be
they them two guys can't be unselfish and he be
the selfish one. It's just not gonna work.

Speaker 5 (31:56):
All right, that's our man.

Speaker 11 (32:00):
Appreciate you, brother, don't y'all? Take care of man?

Speaker 5 (32:02):
All right?

Speaker 10 (32:03):
Rob?

Speaker 4 (32:05):
Is Paul George the goat? Have we been underestimating Paul George?

Speaker 6 (32:09):
Chris, we don't even know what we're watching. We never
made it to the NBA.

Speaker 1 (33:36):
Uh?

Speaker 6 (33:36):
Dodgers uh? And the Angels got the Angels whole.

Speaker 1 (33:39):
Tomy's pitching the night Chris minus one and a half
runs for the Angels. I'm gonna take the Padres minus
one and a half in San Francisco taking on the Giants,
and the Yankees are hosting the Mariners.

Speaker 6 (33:51):
I got them the run total over seven.

Speaker 1 (33:54):
So the Angels minus one and a half runs, Padres
minus one and a half runs on the road, and
they the Yankees and Marinas score over seven runs.

Speaker 6 (34:03):
Come by. And remember, I'm not telling you who to
bet on. I'm telling you who I bet on.

Speaker 4 (34:09):
All right, Well, Rob Brandon Miller, the star swingman from Alabama,
who might go second or third in this draft here,
he said something incredibly interesting, that's to put it kindly,
yesterday when he was asked, who's the goat here is?

Speaker 5 (34:31):
I don't I think Lebron is, you know, to go
to fastball. I think might go to Paul George. I
always grew up watching him, so it's never just Lebron'.

Speaker 4 (34:41):
Said Now, Rob, I gotta say this. There is no
way I believe he.

Speaker 5 (34:49):
Thinks Paul George is the greatest player ever.

Speaker 4 (34:53):
I think he's simply saying it's his favorite player, which
is fine, right.

Speaker 6 (34:57):
He doesn't know what goat means, Rob, Like there's.

Speaker 4 (35:02):
A lot of these young boys, rob nowadays, they saying
gold is you know, just a great yeah, a hamburger
and they say it was, it was right right, it's gold, Like.

Speaker 6 (35:14):
That was the greatest hamburger you ever had.

Speaker 4 (35:17):
I don't even think, Robby, is that what I think
I heard the younger generation is even like they're not
necessarily saying it's the best ever, They're just saying it's great.

Speaker 5 (35:27):
Is that what gold has come to mean to a
lot of these younger kids.

Speaker 6 (35:30):
Yes, it is, right, rob g.

Speaker 7 (35:32):
It's the same thing that you know with Tom Brady
being the golden football. No one actually thinks that he's
the best player or the best quarterback.

Speaker 5 (35:40):
But you know, well I do.

Speaker 4 (35:41):
Actually I think a lot I think people think he's
the best quarterback. Not everybody, but a lot of most
people don't think he's the best quarterback they've.

Speaker 1 (35:48):
Ever right, right, like like like no, that's fine, but okay,
so shock David Robinson had more skills than shot.

Speaker 5 (35:57):
But I don't think that's the case. I think people
the mic I shouldn't you.

Speaker 1 (36:06):
Know, the messenger man because you didn't agree with pelt
you he thought you were I wasn't even a feeling
on the show that.

Speaker 6 (36:14):
He could muscle over Now he's mad. That's what us.

Speaker 4 (36:18):
Everybody's on the show, now muscle over me when Tom Brady,
when people are doing get the whole break on this,
because I'm just saying, that's not what people. When most
people say he's the goat, they means to goat. But
I was saying with young kids, it seems like it's just.

Speaker 5 (36:32):
He's a great player. You know, you've heard this, he's
a goat.

Speaker 1 (36:36):
One of the I think that they interchange goat with
like dope something.

Speaker 7 (36:40):
Being yeah, like they say he's a goat or could
they never say one person.

Speaker 5 (36:45):
It's always a lot of it can be a goat.
I mean, I guess technically he just means that one.

Speaker 1 (36:51):
George is his favorite player, which is fine, right, he
can't talk. He can't speak on Michael Jordan, never saw him, Chrissy,
he just you know, other than wearing the sneakers, like
for real, I get some of these young kids and
the other thing we both know, Chris, they're not students
of the game like sportswriters or a.

Speaker 6 (37:08):
Lot of who couldn't play.

Speaker 5 (37:10):
A lot of them aren't. There's no just they don't
know who played. They don't even know Rob.

Speaker 4 (37:15):
When I was in Richmond, Virginia a few weeks ago,
I had dinner with a guy or lunch who fully believed,
and he actually played basketball in college, that Paul George
is better than doctor J.

Speaker 6 (37:30):
Stop it.

Speaker 5 (37:31):
I told him, don't talk basketball anymore like Chris.

Speaker 6 (37:36):
Like Chris at lunch, did you throw up in your mouth?
I would have.

Speaker 7 (37:41):
Chris, you should put your friend in touch with Andre
Goodala because he says that Paul George and Kevin Duran
the most talented players in the NBA.

Speaker 6 (37:48):
God really, yes?

Speaker 5 (37:50):
When did he say that recently?

Speaker 7 (37:52):
Yeah, on a podcast, given their size and skills, that
they're the most two talented players in the NBA.

Speaker 4 (37:59):
No, stop it. Obviously Durance and all time great. Paul
George is very is a great player. But no, that's
a that's a bridge too far. Keep in lock, couple,
