of course I never heard of them on the ones

(02:10):

this Friday. I hope you are too. A lot of
good stuff. Some of the weather around I guess is
not going to be that great, which is bad.

Speaker 1 (02:26):
Yeah, yeah, it's a good point. And uh and you're
here too, you know, because you've been traveling. Every time
you go somewhere it's raining.

Speaker 4 (02:33):
I'm here, so you can't blame me on this.

Speaker 5 (02:35):
I can't blame you for this one. You're right about that,
You're right.

Speaker 4 (02:38):
But I'm gonna rain on the Knicks parade. How about
that for a segue?

Speaker 1 (02:41):
Okay, wait, wait, wait, make sure no Knick fans around.
They might have some bags of trash and want to
go upside your head. It's all right, they can.

Speaker 4 (02:47):
Be mad all they want.

Speaker 3 (02:49):
I don't know. And game two is going to start
within the hour. I think was it eight or eight fifteen,
eight o'clock, yeah, Eastern, And I don't know how they
overcome what happened in game one. And I know it's
only one game. You gotta wain for all that kind
of stuff, and I've heard all the stuff that goes

(03:10):
with it, but that is one for.

Speaker 4 (03:15):
The ages.

Speaker 3 (03:16):
Like when you talk about losing a game that's not
a twenty point lead in the second half, do you
like there's a big difference between the two. And you know,
in the NBA with the three point shot, it makes
a difference on how some of these games can turn
on a dome.

Speaker 4 (03:32):
And I know, you know, you talked about how great.

Speaker 3 (03:35):
The Pacers were, but I just I still think and
I'm just bringing this up because I still think while
you were praising the Pacers and I get what they
did as far as the shots.

Speaker 4 (03:47):
And all that.

Speaker 3 (03:49):
I mean, Jalen Brunson when they did the breakdown, he
was one for three and three turnovers in crunch time
of that game. Like that's what like, like that's your guy.
You know you were talking about like doing something and
what did the Knicks do wrong? They shot fifty. Well
that three turnovers in crunch time when it's ball game

(04:11):
winning time is what happened. But my point is, if
the Pacers didn't already have confidence in beating the Knicks,
they beat them last year in Game seven at Madison
Square Garden. I don't know what else. They have been unbelievable.
No game is out of reach for them. Every time

(04:32):
you think that, well, if they're gonna lose or they're
gonna whatever, we talk about their road record everything. I'm
picking the Pacers tonight. I am, even though everybody and
their uncle expects to nay, oh, well, the Knick's I'm
gonna lose another game, has no way they're gonna do
that again. I'm gonna pick the Pacers because I believe
this series is over. I do not believe the Knicks

(04:54):
are going to rebound from this. And I'm not saying
they're gonna get swept or whatever. Maybe they might win
a game or whatever or maybe two. But I think
that that was so demoralizing and it also energizes Indiana
and knowing, man, we won one for the Ages and

(05:14):
we accomplished what we needed.

Speaker 4 (05:16):
Now they could go for the juggular tonight.

Speaker 1 (05:19):
Well, so I think we're on the same page. I
picked the Pacers to win this series prior to because
I just think the offense, the pace they're playing, which
the confidence they're playing.

Speaker 4 (05:29):
I just thought you were mad at the Knicks. Could
they beat the Pistols?

Speaker 1 (05:32):
No, but watch watch I'll flip it about the some
my own bottles with the flip.

Speaker 5 (05:37):
But this is where I don't agree with you.

Speaker 1 (05:40):
I don't think if they lose a series, which I
predict them to lose a series, it will have anything
to do with the loss two nights ago. I think
just the Pacers, I think are playing better brand of basketball.
I think their offense, and I think the legs will
eventually give out, as they usually do with a Tom
Thibodeau led team, So I think those things will weigh

(06:02):
heavier into the factor why they lose a series. To me,
the reason why I don't count the Knicks out yet
eventually I think they will lose. But the reason why
it won't be because of that and why don't count them
out is because of what I've seen from the postseason.
Rob the whole postseason from everybody. I'm talking about the
Pacers coming back against Cleveland, being down big, being down twenty,
they stole a couple of games. I'm talking about what

(06:24):
the Knicks did to the Pistons. Pistons thinking they're gonna
win and the Knicks going a twenty ozero run. The
Knicks won three in Detroit. The Knicks go to Boston,
win the first two in Boston, then they win Game
six as well. So to me, I'm looking at a
Knicks team that has known nothing other than to just
keep chugging along, to just keep chugging along, to just

(06:46):
keep chugging along. And I think they're built that way
because when you look at the roster, there are a
bunch of IRONMN type dudes. Josh Hart, Mikhale Bridges, literally
the Ironmen of the NBA right now, Jalen Brunson, just
keep going, Mitchell Robinson, just go do the dirty work.
And I think they find themselves in positions where they
can just keep going.

Speaker 5 (07:07):
And you look up and you're like, why is the
series three to two? In the end up one? But
we're going to in a six where you never know?

Speaker 1 (07:12):
And so I look at them the way they've come
back from games with twenty points down against the Rainning champs.
The way they were able to come in and out
of games, you'd be disappointed in them a game with
versus Pistons, and in that same game they can find
a way to close it out and be clutched.

Speaker 5 (07:26):
And they have the clutch player of the year.

Speaker 1 (07:28):
Obviously, the Pacers have one as well, who's been spectacular
in Halliburton, which, by the way, I just saw you
said you got his video, hilarious video of him playing
basketball like Steve Erkele in that episode where he could
really hoop. It's freaking hilarious. But I don't think the
Knicks are out because of that game. If they lose,
I just think they lose to a better team. I
think if there's a team that can just stay in

(07:49):
it and find a way to scrap and claw and
make it a real series, it's the Knicks. They've shown
that literally all playoffs long. In all playoffs long, we've
seen series after series, even in the West Coast, teams
come back when you think the game's over, when you
think the series is over. So to me, this was
just can be part for the course. If we're in
for a six or seven game series.

Speaker 3 (08:09):
See where I'm disagreeing with you is they got the
game they've been waiting for from their stars at home,
where they combined for seventy eight points a forty three
piece with a biscuit and a thirty five piece, like
you're supposed to win that game.

Speaker 4 (08:28):
This is my point.

Speaker 3 (08:29):
I don't know if they're gonna have better games than
they had in Game one combined seventy eight from their
two stars and that was an l And that's.

Speaker 4 (08:39):
What you're afraid of.

Speaker 3 (08:40):
I don't look at the Piston series as anything because
the Pistons were hadn't made the playoffs in years their
first go round. Okay, they did win the two games
in Boston, I'll give you that. That was more of
an indicator of them coming back in those games. But also,
as you talked about before, was it the Knicks or
was it Boston missing seventy five threes? Okay, because we

(09:01):
talked about it, the Knicks didn't play that great in
that series in the first few games. Would you admit
that until until the last game when they closed it out?

Speaker 5 (09:10):
But yeah, so.

Speaker 3 (09:12):
That's part of what I'm saying is Indiana, what you
gave all the praise for and how great they played.
I just feel like they have a mental edge here now.
They really do going forward and giving up home court
when your New.

Speaker 4 (09:32):
York was a buzz was a buzz. Oh my god.

Speaker 3 (09:37):
Guess who's standing in the way of us going to
the NBA Finals for the first time in twenty five Indiana? Oh, Indiana.
You know what we just did. We just knocked off
the the NBA cham So you kidding, there's no way
we're not going to the championship.

Speaker 4 (09:54):
Really, And then you have a.

Speaker 3 (09:56):
Great game, a fourteen point lead, and that thing go
up in flames.

Speaker 4 (10:02):
H That is tough to overcome.

Speaker 1 (10:05):
The thing is they literally have been better on the road.
That's the crazy party again. They got three in Detroit
and those were all tight, brawl the big you know,
tight games they were doing.

Speaker 3 (10:17):
But the Pistons hadn't played a playoff game in six
or eight rights. But what I'm saying is like, like
to me that that's not an indication that to be.

Speaker 5 (10:26):
But this is where I think I get what you're saying.

Speaker 1 (10:28):
But why I think it is an indication is because
those are easy games to give up and say and
let them sneak up on yall. We didn't see him coming.
They were able to close those things out. They go
to the Celtics, They're able to close those things out.
And I just think they're built that way where they
just keep coming, they just keep fighting, and I think
they look at this series that's the same way they
like to be the back against the wall. I also

(10:49):
think them paying at that high pace where you got
seventy eight from your top two players, is not the
way they play and would rather not play that way.

Speaker 3 (10:57):
Bottle up by fourteen with two minutes to go? How
is that not a bad How is that a bad
game plan?

Speaker 1 (11:03):
Because they can't sustain that for to win a four
out of seven. I don't think they can beat the Pacers.

Speaker 4 (11:08):
But I'm not saying the whole way through.

Speaker 3 (11:11):
But when you say, if I told you before the
game started that those two would combine for seventy eighth.

Speaker 5 (11:16):
You no, no, you want that.

Speaker 1 (11:17):
But I think the lesson learned after that is the
pace of play, the way we play. We can't do
that again. So I just don't think it's series over
simply because of that. I take the Pacers to win
in six or seven. But I think the Knicks are
the team right now that can just find their way
in the game six or seven, you go, well, where
the heck did that come from? And they just have

(11:38):
the guys that are just gonna keep their head down
and keep fighting. And I give them a lot of
credit for that. They're not an overly most skilled team,
the most you know, deep team like everybody else is
kind of deep. In the playoffs right now, they're the
least deep. They have the least depth, but they just
keep fighting. And a lot of that comes from their
leader in Jalen Brunson, he doesn't quick give up and
the makeup of the Villanova Boys and Josh hart in

(12:00):
Michael Bridges as well.

Speaker 3 (12:02):
All Right, eight seven, seven ninety nine on Fox eight
seven seven, nine nine six sixty three sixty nine. Will
the Knicks be able to bounce back in game two?
Or is this series already over? We'll continue that conversation
next with you. It is The Odd Couple, Rob Parker
Kelvin Washington on this funky Flashback Friday, and you know
what you need to do, stick and stay America.

Speaker 2 (12:27):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Odd Couple
with Rob Parker and Kelvin Washington weekdays at seven pm
Eastern four pm Pacific on Fox Sports Radio and the
iHeartRadio app.

Speaker 1 (12:39):
It is a fucking flashback Friday Shure Boys, the Odd Couple,
Rob Parker kelvin Washington, and for over forty years, ti
Iraq has been helping customers find the right tires for how,
what and where they drive shit fast and free back
by free road hazard protection with convenient installation options like
mobile tire Slation. They'll come find you though, set you

(13:00):
up tire reck dot com. It is the way tire
bids should be. Rob and I talking about the Knicks
and the Pacers game Game two happening a little bit
later on today. Rob believes so that game was too
much with the Knicks overcome. I feel like the Knicks
are gonna lose ultimately, but it won't have much to
do with that collapse. Eight seven, seven ninety nine on
Fox taking some calls. Who we got, Lord.

Speaker 3 (13:23):
Have mercy. It's Jesus in Seattle. You're on the couple
of Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 7 (13:28):
What's up, h I guys, thanks for taking my call.
Absolutely just wanted to comment really quick on how game
one went, but really more so big picture, how the
entire playoffs have gone. I believe this Knicks team has
been grossly mismanaged by Tom Thibodeau. I think this is
a loaded roster who has a lot of chemistry, and

(13:49):
they played great together. Just the rotations, the defensive sets,
I mean, really all the above.

Speaker 8 (13:56):
I think regardless of the outcome of this series, which
I think next ultimately win, but regardless the outcome of
this series, I think you're gonna have to move on
from Thibodeau if you're the Nicks after this year.

Speaker 4 (14:08):
Okay, there you go. So you're thinking the Knicks are
going to win, but you need a new coach. I
got you. Thank you, appreciate it.

Speaker 3 (14:17):
Kevin in Culver City, you're on the on couple of
Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 4 (14:20):
What's up, Kevin?

Speaker 9 (14:21):
God is good?

Speaker 4 (14:24):
Always my man.

Speaker 6 (14:25):
Always?

Speaker 10 (14:26):
You got it.

Speaker 6 (14:27):
Rob, you are right on this one. I've seen so
many basketball games, I like football or baseball. It's hard
to come back from a demoralizing loss like that. And
the ironic thing about it was the Knicks just did
that to the Celtics in the last series. They blew
the twenty point lead, twenty point lead two minutes and
thirty seconds to go in that game. You gotta win it,

(14:49):
you gotta finish, and then the choke gesture with Hollibert
and Sakey Miller there. I mean, it felt like nineteen
ninety four all over again. You know, Spike Lee was
a Can, but he felt all the way over there.

Speaker 3 (15:01):
Overseas and Kevin I was at that game, you know
that Reggie Miller game. That's one of all when I
put down my top ten games in my career of
my thirty nine years, that's in there.

Speaker 4 (15:12):
Yep.

Speaker 1 (15:13):
Kevin, Kevin. First of all, you know all the time
I didn't get say all the time eame my Mike
was tripping all the time. But let me bounce back
and say this, but from everything you've seen, not only
through the Knicks, this entire postseason, every team the way
you had teams in the West Coast Western Conference come back,
we see it in the East comers. Why do you
think it's over win? Okay, they lost, and they let

(15:36):
the Celtics come.

Speaker 4 (15:37):
Back and win. Even though they lost at home in
those games they could have won.

Speaker 5 (15:40):
Well, I mean, them losing their best player did.

Speaker 1 (15:42):
Not help the call. Before that, before they were getting
beat without a doubt. But that's what I'm saying, even that,
to your point, that was the team we all picked
the come out of the East. The Knicks beat them,
even with Tatum, and everybody's like, oh, it's over because
the one game where they were up dominated.

Speaker 3 (15:56):
Because they get the Celtics. You choke a twenty point
lead two nights in a row at home. That's what
turns out.

Speaker 1 (16:03):
No, no, no, I'm talking about the Knicks. I'm saying the
Knicks was able to were able to do that to
the best.

Speaker 5 (16:07):
Team in the East.

Speaker 4 (16:08):
Yeah, but why lose one game.

Speaker 5 (16:10):
To the Pacers. Now we're like, oh, it's over. I
don't get it.

Speaker 4 (16:13):
Yeah, I just that loss is for the ages. That's
all I'm saying.

Speaker 3 (16:17):
Andre in Massachusetts, you're on the odd couple Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 4 (16:21):
What's up, Drey?

Speaker 9 (16:23):
Hey, Hey, how you doing that? Thanks for taking a call.
First of all, my New York Knicks are going to
bounce back tonight there.

Speaker 3 (16:28):
I hope. So otherwise you'll be crying in your beard
to night in Massachusetts.

Speaker 9 (16:32):
Okay, there might be some tears shed, but I have
to address everybody has the right to their opinion, Rob,
but everybody don't have a write to their own facts.
So I got to address this Tom Thibodeau slander, that
that that's out there. It's not just the callers, but
it's out there in the world. Three times Tip has
been voted the coach NBA players would least likely what
would least like to play for. That's that's what the

(16:53):
players voted. And where are all those players right now?
They're out in cant Kum, They're gone fishing. Okay, they're
not in the playoffs, They're not in the mix. Okay,
saw this slander for Tom Thibodeaux. First of all, keep
that same energy with my New York Knicks. Make it
to the NBA finals. Keep the dog on the same
energy because he done brought prosperity back to New York
before he got there. And where's you now? Ain't not

(17:13):
rought prosperity now? Fact the question you got the car.

Speaker 5 (17:17):
This is a spicy drake.

Speaker 9 (17:19):
We're up against the ropes.

Speaker 6 (17:20):
You're up against the rope.

Speaker 10 (17:21):
But my New York Knicks under the Kble believes for
Tom Thibodaux.

Speaker 9 (17:24):
They got to finish the game. And get this, you
don't want to go down to too old Indiana. This
team is dangerous. So we got to get this win.
I think we're going to and I'm keeping the receipts
on a Thibodau slander can keep that same energy. So
I gotta saying a call, yes yet?

Speaker 3 (17:38):
Can we can we do a ten piece of twenty
piece of wingstop on this nixt Pacers series, Rob, It's
got to be.

Speaker 9 (17:45):
A twenty piece. I'm putting the twenty piece. I have
the Venmo ready on my New York Knicks.

Speaker 5 (17:50):
That's okay, that's.

Speaker 3 (17:51):
The confident that I have twenty piece, no doubt, twenty piece.

Speaker 9 (17:55):
On the Knicks. Let's get it done tonight. Thanks taking
a call, all.

Speaker 4 (17:57):
Right, appreciate that.

Speaker 5 (17:59):
First of all, you know, we love some Drake. But
Drake's gotta relax.

Speaker 10 (18:02):
Rob.

Speaker 1 (18:02):
He acting like Tipeau's is in Game six of the
NBA Finals.

Speaker 3 (18:05):
Right, He's been coaching twenty years, I've been waiting for
the championship.

Speaker 5 (18:09):
That he's all right, He's gotta absolutely relax.

Speaker 1 (18:11):
He's acting like we're talking about somebody who's got two
rings up in this thing.

Speaker 4 (18:15):
No doubt.

Speaker 3 (18:15):
Brian in Wisconsin, you're on the eye couple of Fox
Sports Radio.

Speaker 4 (18:18):
What's up beat, Bryan? Could he hear.

Speaker 7 (18:26):
Be?

Speaker 4 (18:28):
All right? We lost you all right?

Speaker 1 (18:31):
All right, well yeah, I still it's gonna be a
good one to night hopefully. But the next it'd be on,
it would be oh Man.

Speaker 3 (18:36):
Ronald coonor hit a home runs first a bat in
the year. That's unbelievable, man, these baseball I just looked up.
I just looked up, and I'm seeing him around.

Speaker 1 (18:46):
The bas Listen, man, he stars be starring the stars,
the starring rob all Right, we have uh, we got
a guest coming up here in just a bit, we're
gonna be talking with Josh Rodriguez, Knicks super fan co
hosts of the Dime. I'm on an NBA podcast there,
but right now it.

Speaker 4 (19:01):
Is being a nickel. When we're done with him.

Speaker 2 (19:03):

over there.

Speaker 5 (19:22):
Nah nah, he's listen. He's about to be on an
eight year run again.

Speaker 4 (19:25):
Rookie of the Year. He didn't get most Improved Player
and didn't even get second team, and.

Speaker 1 (19:29):
He's about to go seven years of all the NBA wow,
especially being over there in the East.

Speaker 5 (19:35):
All Right, it's the hot couple.

Speaker 1 (19:36):
Rod Parker Kelvin Washington on a fucking Flashback Friday.

Speaker 5 (19:39):
We're joined now by Josh Rodriguez.

Speaker 1 (19:41):
He's a Nick super fan, co host of the Dime
NBA podcast, Josh Underscore Rodrigaez underscore on next.

Speaker 5 (19:47):
What's up?

Speaker 4 (19:48):
Josh, Josh, I know you're sick. Did you throw up
in your mouth?

Speaker 9 (19:52):
Throw up?

Speaker 10 (19:52):
I did more than throw up, man, I was throwing
up as dead, has the blankets over me?

Speaker 5 (19:56):
Just convulsions.

Speaker 3 (20:01):
Kelvin and I had a big debate the other day.
He wanted to give the Pacers credit for the shooting
and what they were able to do to win the game.
He said that they won the game. It was a
colossal choke job. And I brought up even Jalen Brunton
in the crunch time three turnovers, you know, one for
three shooting, just like like you can't stuff you can't

(20:23):
do if you're trying to close up a game, How
did you see that colossal choko?

Speaker 5 (20:27):
Was that?

Speaker 4 (20:27):
Tip your cap to the Pacers?

Speaker 10 (20:30):
I hate to like Straggle offense here.

Speaker 4 (20:32):
No, no, no, we don't accept that.

Speaker 3 (20:34):
We don't accept that this is the odd couple you
gotta pick a side.

Speaker 4 (20:37):
We don't accept that.

Speaker 10 (20:38):
We know what, then, Robbie, it was a choke job. Okay,
I mean you had Jalen Brunson. He went back to
game two in the Piston series, Jalen Brunston, where he
made the game about himself and just wanted to prove
that he was getting felt in every possession.

Speaker 8 (20:50):
Turning the ball over.

Speaker 10 (20:51):
Even onthis threes right, they weren't switching properly. They weren't
like up on him. They were just letting him shoot
from three. That's on the Knicks.

Speaker 5 (21:00):
Well, I still you know, I know you. We don't
want to straddle the fence.

Speaker 1 (21:03):
But the reasons as rob was alluding to, I just
think when you see Nie Smith do something we literally
have never seen before, six three, six for six go
in under four minutes. Like those types of things. To me,
the Knicks score, they outscored on It's not.

Speaker 4 (21:17):
Just about scoring.

Speaker 3 (21:17):
I just gave you three big turnovers from their star player.
And m Josh, here's my big thing. I told Kelvin
if I told you before the game, you'll get seventy
eight points out of your two stars and a forty
three piece from Brunton at the garden.

Speaker 4 (21:32):
You're not winning that game.

Speaker 10 (21:34):
Yeah, and then you're up fourteen with under three, Like,
come on, you gotta win that game. The only way
that happens, the only way you lose that game is
too choking. Yeah, that's the only way I.

Speaker 1 (21:43):
And I completely will understand why people will say that,
while I still disagree because if you're the Knicks, in
the fourth quarter, you shot fifty five percent from the field,
which was better than Indiana, You only turn the ball
over twice in the fourth, you won the rebound battle,
you shot a better free throw percentage, and you have
more attempts. To me, that shows that what Nie Smith
specifically did was absolutely astronomical and from another world.

Speaker 5 (22:05):
And you'll probably never see that again.

Speaker 10 (22:08):
You might not see that again, but you can actually, like,
you know, get up on him, put a hand up
switch properly. Like there are things that Knicks could have
done to prevent that.

Speaker 5 (22:16):
Nie Smith, Jesus answered his prayers. That's what happened.

Speaker 1 (22:19):
I don't know if his mama was praying or something,
because that was unbelievable.

Speaker 5 (22:22):
Well, let's talk.

Speaker 3 (22:24):
About tonight game two. Can they bounce back? The Pacers
have to have sky high confidence. They did, came and
did what they wanted to do, which is split in
New York, and now they could go for the jugular.

Speaker 9 (22:37):
Yeah.

Speaker 10 (22:38):
No, I got the Knicks tonight. I'm not gonna lie.
I I'm very encouraged of what I saw in Game one.
Despite the last you know, two minutes of regulation, the
Knicks got whatever they wanted on the offensive. Then despite
the Pacers pressuring the ball and their full court press,
they can't stop. Jalen Brunson Cat had a phenomenal game.
I like what I saw from the Knicks. They's got
closed and I think they went tonight.

Speaker 1 (22:57):
Yeah, that's gonna be a longer serious seven, for sure.
I have the Pacers ultimately winning. I just think that
literal the pace in which they play, and I wonder
if Tom Thibodeau, the style he plays six guys, seven
guys with that burn them out eventually.

Speaker 5 (23:10):
But I do want to go to the.

Speaker 1 (23:11):
Mixture of Carl, Anthony Towns, Cat and Jalen throughout the playoffs.
We haven't really seen them both. They've had a game
or two, but they haven't both been able to go
off like they did in game one of this. Do
you think that you mentioned it game two versus the Pistons.
How is Jalen's mindset where he has to be the
system and I gotta prove it. I got drible jibber

(23:31):
ribber kind of like Luca at times, kind of like
old school Allen Iverson. Is he going to be able
to get better and working other guys in or does
he have to become so ball centric in order for
them to win?

Speaker 4 (23:42):
No?

Speaker 10 (23:42):
I mean I think kids has to call more picking
rolls with with Cat and Jalen up top, which he
dated in game one. They have to go to that.
That's the reason why they got Cat in the first place,
and they want to wasten that in the Detroit series.
So to me, a lot of it is on Gibbs
and a lot of it is on the sets that
he's calling. If you're calling just isolation all the time
to get it missed me. With Jalen, of course, he's gonna,
you know, try to go one on one. But you know,

(24:04):
if you start calling things a cat tickn roll getting
you in the post, then you can have both, you know,
working off.

Speaker 4 (24:08):
Of each other.

Speaker 3 (24:10):
All right, I want to ask you, I think the
Nick fans have been I get it, over zealous. They
haven't won a championship since Moby Dick was a guppy.

Speaker 4 (24:17):
I get it.

Speaker 3 (24:17):
All the younger fans are all excited because they've never
seen anything like it.

Speaker 4 (24:22):
Thank you, Josh. That helps me a lot. But uh,
have you been outside there?

Speaker 3 (24:27):
I'm sure you have, and about the fans and just
how they've been going crazy. This is obviously not after
it was a morgue after game one, but prior to that,
it had been an unbelievable scene.

Speaker 10 (24:39):
Yeah, the city's on fire, Rob, and you should be
happy for us. I mean, you're from New York. I
can't believe you don't understand the joy of Nick Dan
right now. We've been miserable for decades, Rob, let us live.

Speaker 4 (24:51):
I understand what you don't want to celebrate too early?

Speaker 3 (24:53):
Is all?

Speaker 4 (24:54):
My thing is like, let us.

Speaker 10 (24:55):
Celebrate every time there's something to celebrate about, right.

Speaker 5 (24:59):
I'll tell you.

Speaker 1 (25:00):
But they're over there celebrating like baseball does every round.
We are champagne goggles, We're close watch it. We're gonna
cover up the clubhouse different. You play hockey every round,
Baseball sixty trup. You know that what in a wild
card looks like the same exact as a World Series title?

Speaker 5 (25:19):
Baseball Gotta relax with that sometime.

Speaker 3 (25:21):
No, no, but the problem with the NBA is everybody
makes the playoffs.

Speaker 4 (25:24):
Twenty teams compete for the postseason. What are you celebrating now,
That's what I'm.

Speaker 5 (25:29):
Trying to find out.

Speaker 10 (25:29):
The territory rout. We haven't been here in decades. We
haven't seen the certain nick fans alive going to these
games at the bar who haven't seen this old enough
to geinst a bar, who haven't seen this?

Speaker 9 (25:40):
Let us be happy? Why why are you against 'all.

Speaker 5 (25:43):
Beating up Pacer fans?

Speaker 3 (25:45):
That's why I just said, Brian, there's a lot of
stuff that we've seen.

Speaker 4 (25:48):
I mean, what about that? I mean, I know there's
just a couple of no aheads don't know that.

Speaker 3 (25:52):
Yeah, all right, well give me give me the Pacers
and and uh tyree's Halliburn. Have you seen a guy
like this like like Steph has never I ain't a
clutch big shot with the todd.

Speaker 10 (26:03):
No no, no, no no.

Speaker 3 (26:05):
But but I'm saying, but I'm saying, here's a guy
who's made three of them in this postseason, like like three.

Speaker 10 (26:14):
Yeah, he's unreal. He's unreal. I mean I was watching
the game and I was like, whoever has the ball
last is probably gonna win this game. And I was
wrong about that because the Nicks had the ball last,
but I had There's no doubt in my mind that
he was tying that game or winning that game in regulation.
He's he's s petrified.

Speaker 5 (26:29):
Yeah, he's dude.

Speaker 1 (26:30):
So do you think he's overrated? As he was voted
on do you think one of the things me and
Rob said, But I personally think it was a matter
of he had to, like we have to pick somebody,
and we're only gonna pick somebody who's really good, but
just and that's possible too.

Speaker 5 (26:45):
And I think it's money.

Speaker 1 (26:47):
He makes so much money, and I think people want
to see gaudier numbers when he's really kind of a
throwback to those early two thousand guards. Jason kidds Steve
nash uh a better shooting rondo where I get everybody
involved and I can do what I need to when.

Speaker 5 (26:58):
I need it.

Speaker 10 (27:00):
No, I think he's underrated. Actually, I think they're hating
on him. I mean, this is the second straight year
in the Eastern Conference finals. If this wasn't any other player,
if he didn't play in Indiana, we'd be talking about
him more. I mean, his shots news be looking, right.
I think he's not esthetically pleasing. So these players don't
really want to model their game out Dame, and they
don't wish they could beat him, Like they watch Kyrie
and like, damn, I wish I looked like that, But

(27:21):
they watched Kyrie's and they're like, no, I don't know.
And then he's kind of goofy too, right, So he's
not someone that want to show with me. It's more
personal than anything.

Speaker 4 (27:28):
That's what I think it is.

Speaker 3 (27:30):
Because they just announced that he made third team All
NBA for the second time, so yeah, he's considered one
of those fifteen players, you know what I mean like that,
Like yes, but but but I think it is personal.

Speaker 4 (27:41):
I just think that that they don't like him.

Speaker 10 (27:44):
Because yeah, I agree, I.

Speaker 4 (27:45):
Think could be.

Speaker 5 (27:48):
And let me ask you this.

Speaker 1 (27:49):
You believe the next are going to win, You can
believe the next pull it off, and let's just assume,
for whatever reasons, you're right. Even though I think myself
and Robin disagree. If they were to go up against
what it looks like it's probably going to be the Thunder,
which would be and just a buzz saw all playoffs long.

Speaker 4 (28:02):
Who who do you got them? You already got them
playing the Thunder?

Speaker 1 (28:05):
My god, Well, just I'm saying I've tried to build
up what I'm saying. Do you think they have a
shot at beating the Thunder or the Thunder just kind
of as they did in the regular season, just kind
of blowing through this thing.

Speaker 10 (28:18):
I think it's I think it's the okay seats on
there don't win the championship this year, it's a major
choke chalk by them. They're up to right now that
Tim Wolves. They have the best defense in the league,
they have the MVP. There is no reason why they
shouldn't win an NBA championship, even if against the Pacers, Knicks, whatever.
They have one of the best defenses we've seen in
a really, really long time. They're the best team in
remaining right now. There's no reason why they should lose

(28:39):
the NBA Championship.

Speaker 4 (28:41):
So wow, So you wouldn't even pick the Knicks.

Speaker 10 (28:43):
Huh No, I mean I would be hopeful, and I
would I would lie to my audience and say, I'm
thinking the Nickson seven.

Speaker 4 (28:48):
Oh there you go, look at you.

Speaker 3 (28:50):
I'm supposed to The Dime is supposed to be the
podcast I could count on.

Speaker 10 (28:54):
Huh, you could still count on us?

Speaker 5 (28:56):
Okay, yeah, I mean I don't listen the way things
are on right now. I can't. I can't necessarily disagree
with Okay, Well.

Speaker 3 (29:03):
What a good time for Josh to move back to
New York from Los Angeles.

Speaker 4 (29:06):
It's unbelievable. So I'm sure you're soaking it all up.

Speaker 10 (29:10):
Yeah, absolutely, it's good to be back. Although the city
was clinically depressed after Game one. It was something like
I've never seen the city be like. It was bad.
It was really bad.

Speaker 1 (29:20):
Yeah, we heard, We've heard that it was really really
Instead of being mad or head, they were just literally
sad and quiet. That's what folks were telling us last
couple of days when we had calls about it.

Speaker 5 (29:29):
So we'll see.

Speaker 1 (29:30):
Should be good one the night Man, Josh Rodriguez. Of
course again check out the Dime NBA podcast. Appreciate you joining, Josh.

Speaker 5 (29:38):
All right, thanks having me appreciate no doubt.

Speaker 1 (29:40):
All right, we got Shecho City on the way and uh,
the pirates considering something that could be a little crazy.

Speaker 5 (29:47):
We'll tell you what that is.

Speaker 1 (29:48):
It's the ocup of Rod Parker Kelvin Washington, Fox Sports Radio.

Kelvin Washington. All the fuck it flashback Friday, Memorial Day weekend.
So hopefully you're getting ready for the weekend and whatever
you're doing, maybe you're on the road traveling listen to us.

Speaker 5 (30:15):
We appreciate that as always.

Speaker 1 (30:18):
Well, it is signed out folks for Secle City.

Speaker 3 (30:25):
Welcome all right, here we go Shekel City one and
two last night. I'm one thirty five and one thirty
seven for the year total. I mean, we're keeping it real.
I'll let you know what's going on out there tonight.
I'm taking the Pacers plus six and a half. I

(30:46):
think the next can win the game. They got them
that that the Knicks favor by that much. Yeah, that's
a lot. That's what I'm thinking. I'm taking the Pacers.
If the Knicks winner will be closer, you know what
I mean, six and a half, I'll take that cause
they're expected. Now, oh my god, the Knicks gonna come
out and it doesn't always work out like that. But anyway,
I got the Pacers plus six and a half, Pittsburgh

(31:06):
Pirates plus one and a half.

Speaker 4 (31:10):
Uh Paul Skins is pitching for the uh no exactly.

Speaker 3 (31:15):
And I got the Giants of the Pirates over the
Brewers in Pittsburgh, I should say that. And I got
the San Francisco Giants minus one and a half runs
at Washington against the Nationals. So again, Giants minus one
and a half, Pirates plus one and a half, and
the Indiana Paces plus six and a half. And remember,

(31:37):
I'm not telling you who to bet on, I'm telling
you who I bet on.

Speaker 1 (31:43):
Yeah, this Knicks with Pacers wanted really interesting to me
because I just could see where it's obvious that the Knicks,
like we're coming back, we're still at home crossing, were
going crazy. They're gonna want blood, Pacer blood after that
last game.

Speaker 5 (31:56):
But again, the Pacers the.

Speaker 3 (31:57):
Dead Ones will be tight though the Knicks, you know
what I mean, compared to the pacers.

Speaker 1 (32:01):
The only thing, and I ninety five percent of the
time would be with you on that, except Jalen Brunton
is just not that kind of guy, and Josh Hart's
just not that Mike mckelbrit They just guys are gonna
show up every night.

Speaker 5 (32:12):
And compete and play.

Speaker 1 (32:13):
But right right now, it's time for the play of
the Day's all right, there's your player today. Of course,
it is brought to you by tire Rack. Tire IRAQ

(32:34):
is the way tires should be bought. Over forty years,
Tirereck has been helping customers find the right tires for how,
what and where they drive, ship fast and free back
by free road hazard protection with convenient insulation options like
mobile tire Insulation. Tire req is of course the way
tire buying should be. Go check them out. You mentioned
schemes obviously, had you had the pirates in Shekel City,

(32:57):
tell me a little bit about there's some rumors they
had to shut down the rumors about possibly trading schemes.

Speaker 3 (33:03):
Yeah, we talked about this in uh Inside the Parker,
which dropped of course yesterday on the audio side and
on YouTube on the Fox Sports Radio Fox Sports Radio
channel on YouTube, and I just Paul Schimes cannot be traded.
I know the Pirates are bad, I know they need help,

(33:25):
and you can get a haul for that guy, okay,
because he's he's a young guy with so much potential.

Speaker 4 (33:30):
But I've seen this.

Speaker 3 (33:33):
At a couple of places where when the Mets got
Dwight Gooden and change their franchise, when the Tigers got
Justin Verlander. You know, it's not everybody who comes up
who's of that ilk where you have that feeling for them,
and you know what I mean, And he has that
kind of stuff, And if you're the Pirates, you just
have to build around him. You can't go and give

(33:54):
him away, you know what I mean, and just say
well we're gonna just start all over. No, you got
to go out and you got to build around him.
And I would not trade Skins under any circumstance. I
just I just wouldn't. I don't care what's going on.
And they've done it in the past, you know, they
traded away for bonds and people have all left and
junk Doug dre Beak, the Pirates have a history of it.

Speaker 1 (34:15):
Which is why I'm doing the opposite of what our
history has shown, right, I'm gonna say, we've gotten rid
of some great players, hitters, pitchers over the last twenty
five thirty years, and it's tigned for us to do
the opposite. So whatever we think we're about to do,
let's do the opposite.

Speaker 5 (34:30):
And he has just been too good.

Speaker 4 (34:31):
Rob.

Speaker 1 (34:31):
You look at his numbers, man, I mean it's remarkable.
He's done in thirty three career starts.

Speaker 4 (34:36):
He has started the All Star Game as a rookie.

Speaker 5 (34:39):
Can we stopped there?

Speaker 1 (34:40):
You know, twelve era he's got two hundred and thirty
two strikeouts and one hundred and ninety five two third
innings in thirty three career starts. And he's just that
franchise guy. To me, I look at an example of
a Kershaw where you just have a guy that you
can just say, all right.

Speaker 5 (34:55):
We know we have this one thing. If nothing else,
we have this Sele. Let's continue to build a round.

Speaker 1 (35:02):
And then on the way they got some hope too, man,
they got a young prospect and Bubble Chandler on the
way supposed to be a top twenty prospect, and you know,
there's a lot of hope for him this season.

Speaker 5 (35:11):
He's supposed to be coming up, So they just got
to do something they don't like to do.

Speaker 1 (35:14):
And we talk about this in the NFL with some teams,
talk about in the NBA with some teams, especially football
and baseball. Though there's just some teams that don't want
to spend money in this offseason. If you can say,
we got a couple of pitchers solidified, we got a
hitter or two, Let's go out there and spend some money.
Because I'm looking right now, man, when you look at
their offensive output, they're twenty five to the thirtieth in

(35:36):
every category just about. So I meaning, you're not producing.
Even if I'm pitching good, we might lose two to one.
And I remember the dosch one creation.

Speaker 3 (35:44):
With schemes is that he pitches well, he already's only
a little bit over two, right, but he can't win
games because their offense is not not going.

Speaker 5 (35:54):
You know, they're not producing, right.

Speaker 1 (35:56):
And if I'm like, man, I give up two runs
three runs back that game, we gotta win eighty nine
to ninety percent of these games now come on, and
so yeah, they just got to break and break out
the mode and spend some money. And the only way
to me, we talked about this all the time every
now and again, and you maybe you would know better
than I, but fans gotta just stop showing up and hey,
you know, we're demanding better, we're demanding more, and try to,

(36:21):
you know, put a little pressure on the franchise because
one thing we know about ownership, Rob I tell people
all the time, everybody ain't trying to win.

Speaker 5 (36:28):
Meaning if we make.

Speaker 1 (36:29):
Fifties forty fifty sixty million dollars this year, ten million,
twenty million dollars, hey we won we up. You know,
it ain't always about trying to win championships for every organization.

Speaker 5 (36:39):
That's a little dirty secret.

Speaker 1 (36:40):
Not every organization in sports is going out of their
way to win World Series titles, NBA Finals, Super Bowls.
You know, they're trying to make their business, folks. And
at the end of the year, we were in the black.
We made some money.

Speaker 5 (36:52):
We cool.

Speaker 3 (36:53):
Yeah, But at some point you have to hold on
to great players and then you're the strategy is you
have to build around them, and that that's really it's
just so simple. A guy like schemes, if you get
some players and some offense and go out and get
one or two players. It's not like you gotta go

(37:14):
spend Dodger money, you know what I mean, to get
a couple of players. But you have to do that.
It can't be all young kids. You know you can't score.

Speaker 5 (37:23):
I think you know better than me.

Speaker 1 (37:24):
I feel like you look at this guy like Strasburg,
often injured, but he was able to get it done
where he was. Virlinder didn't win there, but got to
some World Series side.

Speaker 4 (37:31):
Of Strasburg got the championship in More exactly.

Speaker 1 (37:34):
So what I'm saying is, and you get a guy
like that, you kind of gotta roll with it. At
Kershawn to be in another example, roll with it and
see what you can get and build around it.

Speaker 5 (37:42):
All right. The Thunder all time great
