because rob.

Speaker 2 (02:30):
G one this morning?

Speaker 4 (02:31):
Did I push you to the needle that you want
to get thin? You wanted to be thin for a
long time.

Speaker 7 (02:36):
Oh yeah, I want to be skinny like Steven Sager.
But you pushed what you don't want to, but you
don't want to. Oh nah, shots fired. He just said, nah,
that's because he.

Speaker 2 (02:45):
Called me Barry Bonds.

Speaker 8 (02:47):

Speaker 2 (03:07):
He is Elvin Washington.

Speaker 1 (03:11):
You got one more day, bro, one more day coming
up in here. Like you played the back nine. You're
looking real. You've been in your dad bag lately. Look
at that. That's that's nice and like golf, like I
feel like you were out there on the links today.

Speaker 4 (03:23):
I had a nice lunch with my buddy, you know what.
It's great, and we were reminiscing with Curtis Bunt. He's
a reporter for.

Speaker 5 (03:30):
NBC News now.

Speaker 4 (03:32):
Yeah, Curtis, Yeah, And we were sports writers back in
New York and the eighties, covering the Knicks together, and
we're in our twenties and just talking about what it
was like back then, how much fun we had, like
traveling on the uh commercial flights, you know, with the
players and riding the team bus and hanging out and
all that stuff.

Speaker 2 (03:52):
It just was great.

Speaker 5 (03:53):
We had a good time.

Speaker 1 (03:54):
You need you need to write the book on that,
or actually shouldn't write the book about to I know
you had some road stories.

Speaker 2 (03:59):
Boy.

Speaker 4 (04:00):
Yeah, oh yeah, we we we did it all. We
had a really good time. And then I did. I
don't know if you just saw a social but it's
a picture. There's a picture of Curtis and I back
in our twenties and now here on this let.

Speaker 1 (04:11):
Me see the dinner. Now, let me see this thenn
in now right now, y'all brothers look good. Still dag
nere mess around to say, y'all age very well.

Speaker 2 (04:21):
Look at that. So he's single as a pringle too.

Speaker 5 (04:25):
Court has been married for like eleven years.

Speaker 4 (04:27):
First of all, you can't throw the hand. I thought
you about to say forty years. So he said, oh,
yeah he was married before. But this is like that
run around you that before happens. Yeah, but I've been
up before. If our New York earli were.

Speaker 5 (04:37):
Probably yeah, yeah, he.

Speaker 2 (04:39):
Would be going. I used to be married back back
and there, back in the day. All right, yes, all right,
there we got back Alex.

Speaker 5 (04:45):
Thank you, Alex. Uh, let's go.

Speaker 4 (04:47):
Let's welcome in the YDD Couple crew, because you wouldn't
be able to do this fine radio program without him.
Rob G is the producer, Alex is our engineer. Steve
the Seger's at the anchor desk. Yeah, my, mo Manzi.
I'm so sorry. I saw Manzi earlier, but you know what,
she had a Chipotle bag and I couldn't see over it,
so I wasn't sure she was there. That's how you

(05:08):
should have known it was here at this point. She
better be sponsored by Chipole. My, guys, it's I'm here
out Dan like it last. I don't want to hear
all that. You better get a sponsorship. Manti and Saga.
Saga is our social media. Sorry, Manzi, she's mad now.

Speaker 2 (05:22):
I just said it.

Speaker 4 (05:23):
That couldn't see you over the bag. Yeah, I'm not gonna.
I can't see her right now over the wall. She
was somewhere. I just saw some hair just going around.

Speaker 3 (05:33):
There.

Speaker 2 (05:33):
You go.

Speaker 4 (05:35):
Let's get started, big sale, say all the lakers. Rob G,
you got the breaking news. Uh just announce yes, there
you go.

Speaker 2 (05:44):
Yeah. Yeah.

Speaker 7 (05:45):
A couple hours ago, right before we had our pre
show meeting.

Speaker 4 (05:49):
So we actually do a show meeting and prepare. We
don't just come up, show up and talk.

Speaker 7 (05:54):
For three hours. That's a good point, esa all shows
do that. But I'm just Andy Athletic and every other
outlet worth their selves reporting that the Bus family has
finally agreed to sell their majority ownership in the Los
Angeles Lakers.

Speaker 2 (06:10):
So is it fair to say that they busted?

Speaker 7 (06:12):
I'm just saying it is fair to say that they're
selling to Mark Walter, who is also the head guy
for the group that owns the Los Angeles Dodgers. Here's
the big number, though, guys. The Lakers are being sold
at a ten billion dollars valuation.

Speaker 4 (06:32):
Well the Celtics went for six yep. So you know,
we talk about city sides all the time seriously, and
of course the Celtics have a brand. But they're in
a city that's less than six hundred thousand people.

Speaker 2 (06:42):
Nobody we brought that up before.

Speaker 1 (06:43):
People think Boston is just this massive snize the area.

Speaker 4 (06:47):
Yes, in a metropolitan area, but I'm talking about the
city of Boston. It's like six hundred thousand people and
I think that's the number, and Los Angeles is three million.

Speaker 5 (06:56):
Right, I think four, no, five million.

Speaker 2 (06:59):
Five million, five.

Speaker 5 (07:00):
Chicago's three and New York is eight.

Speaker 1 (07:02):
That's, by the way, Chicago's I don't think the average
American grass how big Chicago Chicago shoes.

Speaker 4 (07:07):
They know New York, they know that million mass we're
talking about in the city, not not the suburbs and
all that stuff. But anyway, rob g it's a it's
a sale. The owner, basically, the owner of the Dodgers
bought the Lakers.

Speaker 7 (07:22):
Yeah, but if there is an asterisk though, I must say,
according to ESPN, for the foreseeable future, even with the
new ownership in place, you could just you could say
this and I'm gonna just toss it away. Genie bust
will remain governor of the team. She'll be the governeveral
years to come. She'll be the governor of Illinois, is
what she'll be. She will not be the governor of

(07:43):
the Lakers.

Speaker 4 (07:44):
Because that's what didn't they tell us that when Mark
Cuban and then Mark Cuban says, I didn't even know
they would train Luca, Well, how are you running? You
claimed you sold the team and you were gonna be
running in being involved.

Speaker 5 (07:55):
And then he comes out and said, I didn't even
know what's happening.

Speaker 4 (07:57):
There's no way they're gonna give her and her family
ten billion dollars and then have her run it and
have her sign people the big contracts and run up
the expense the American Express cards and whining dot no, no,
once you give up the ten billion, that's it all
I'm gonna say.

Speaker 2 (08:16):
On this is.

Speaker 4 (08:19):
It's good news. If you're a Laker fan, this is
great news. Finally, the the Los Angeles Lakers will not
be run like a mom in pop store, And that's
what it has been run like. All right, Lebron came
in to get gum and they let him take two
bags of potato chips with them like that. That's what
it was like. They were supposed to get Ty Lou

(08:41):
all these many years ago when he right, They didn't
want to pay him because they were already paying and
want to pay money. Look at the coaches. There's a reason,
there's a pattern. That's why I was so shocking. Even
when they went after Yukon's coach, You know what a
big deal. That was shocking because they normally don't want
to pay just because you own the Lakers and people,
oh No.

Speaker 2 (09:01):
This is their only business.

Speaker 5 (09:03):
When you go talk about these other owners, they make money.
Are you kidding?

Speaker 4 (09:09):
James Dolan family owns a cable vision or whatever, Like
they got gazillions of dollars.

Speaker 2 (09:16):
And we know, uh, the Clippers Steve one or whatever
it is billions.

Speaker 4 (09:23):
The Mets owner another got billions like that, like the
team that's for fun something to dude exactly. But this
will be good for the Lakers because finally they'll run
it like a real organization. It's not gonna be like
the Dodgers. They're not gonna run out. They can't run
out and spend a gazillion dollars on people.

Speaker 5 (09:44):
It just doesn't. It's not the same formula.

Speaker 4 (09:46):
But I believe they'll be trying to win because that's
what the Dodgers have done since they got new ownership.

Speaker 5 (09:51):
They're trying to win every year.

Speaker 4 (09:53):
They're going out, No more Kurt Rambus, no more Linda Rambus.

Speaker 1 (09:59):
And and you got the Rambai.

Speaker 4 (10:03):
You got issue with the Rambay. We like the movie Rambo,
but we don't like the Rambai.

Speaker 1 (10:08):
Yeah, I think this is kind of a To me,
it's a two it's two headed monster.

Speaker 2 (10:14):
If you will on one end.

Speaker 1 (10:15):
If you're a Laker fan born and raised here and
just it's just your home, I think it is sad.
I think you've gotten used to the Bus family, right,
I think you've robbed you a great example. I don't
know exactly when you were born, but you've known nothing
but the Bus family. You know, they got the ownership
and I think was eighty and uh, this is all
they've ever You've ever known is doctor Buss. And when
the Doctor Bus era was going, you had a bunch

(10:36):
of success, right, You had a whole lot of winning
through the eighties and the nineties were fun but not
necessarily but winning boom. You bounced right back with the
Kobe and Shaq era and then obviously you run off
with the Kobe and Pow and so on and so
forth to the even Lebron six.

Speaker 2 (10:50):
She is with no champion play. But I'm glad you
brought it up.

Speaker 1 (10:54):
This is why I bring this up wide is while
it is challenging, there's multiple ways of skin and cat
and this franchise has been run like a mom and pop,
a family owned business, which is what it is. And
this has been the family's bread and butter. So it's
been good. You know why it's good because Rob g
got to see Kobe his entire career. If this was
another ownership, they might have gotten, Hey, he's getting old,

(11:16):
he's starting to get break down.

Speaker 2 (11:17):
Get him out of here. We don't care. The numbers
say this, The mask says this.

Speaker 1 (11:20):
We're not gonna We're not gonna pay this guy's aging,
a guy who's getting beat down and broken down. But
there's loyalty with the Bus family, and they said, you
know what, We're gonna ride out with Kobe and give
him money that some would say he deserves because all
he's done.

Speaker 2 (11:32):
Others will say it makes work all right.

Speaker 1 (11:34):
But I'm saying this is why, if you're a fan,
you will love the family aspect of this business. If
you're a fan, you love the family aspect because of
how Magic Johnson was always around in and out, being
a president, not the president around part ownership, not ownership,
and magic is just a part of it. And I
think you love that familia that the Bus family created,
and I think that's part of the magic of the

(11:55):
Lakers over the last forty years has been this mystique,
this family and the or of it. However, I do
think There's an element of knowing when to cut ties,
knowing when you have to be pragmatic, knowing when you
have to make moves that a new ownership will be
able to do. And now this new ownership being tied
to the Dodgers, this is exactly what they've done. They
let guys go when they needed to, you know, they

(12:15):
didn't you know, are you gotta go?

Speaker 4 (12:18):
Uh?

Speaker 1 (12:18):
Corey Seeger? Which is you know you want to go? Okay,
cool Yankee now messing? Uh what am I missing with Yankee?

Speaker 2 (12:28):
Yeah?

Speaker 1 (12:28):
It was you know what I'm talking about. They gonna
come to me and just left me. But when they
got to let guys go, they let guys go. And
so I do think this will be from the business end,
this will be a better run team. But I do
think the mystique, the magic of Lakers people are gonna
be sad. They gotten used to seeing Genie Bus, they
got used to seeing doctor Bus, They got used to
the relationship that this team had with the city. Absolutely,

(12:50):
she's gonna still be around. Kind of how Magic would
just be like around just to kind of be the
you know, Cody, Cody Belgian That's what I was looking for.
Magic was you know, kind of the Sarah face of
the team, if you will, face to the franchise. I
think Genie Busts will kind of have that role still
where people are familiar with her, they love her around
the city, and they'll have that feel. But making decisions,

(13:11):
making business moves, I don't see that at all. They
you know, they're gonna absolutely run things how they want
to run things while keeping a familiar face in a
position to kind of be around the town and be
the ceremonial leader, if you will.

Speaker 2 (13:24):
But this is Yeah, you.

Speaker 1 (13:25):
Got the Mavericks selling the team, you got the Celtics
selling the team. Now you got the Lakers selling. Michael
Jordans sold the team. Michael Jordan sold the team. So Minnesota,
you got Phoenix just yeap, Phoenix just sold.

Speaker 2 (13:41):
It's a bigger thing. And let me tell you, it's
a lot going on right now.

Speaker 4 (13:44):
And maybe there's a sign of good things for the league,
maybe not ratings right now, but in a larger steal finance, I.

Speaker 5 (13:51):
Think it's the opposite.

Speaker 4 (13:52):
I think people are getting out because you're paying people
sixty and seventy million dollars and they don't want to
be a part of it.

Speaker 5 (13:59):
Like that could collapse, and what they're doing is taking
the money. Michael Jordan doesn't worry about money. He's got
were talking about money. He got out. Mark Cuban got.

Speaker 4 (14:08):
Plenty of money, but he's a billionaire got out like
That's when you start to see people like that get out,
that worries you. I understand the Bus family, they paid
sixty seven million dollars ten billion. Yeah, I mean exactly,
I see that. But when I see Jordan and Mark
Cuban loved every minute of being an owner, you know
that for him to give that up told me.

Speaker 1 (14:30):
I do think though. But then the other side of that,
robbin is to me, people are spending You thought the
Lakers be worth five million, six billion, seven ten billion.
People are cashing out crazy money. And the people who
are doing this are exactly what we're saying. They're great
business mind minded folks. They know numbers, they know how
to make this stuff work, and they're not cashing out
at that high of a value if they see this

(14:50):
going down. No, No, maybe I'm not saying that the
guard Maybe how it's how we view it, and.

Speaker 5 (14:54):
I'm saying that people are hold when they start to
get out.

Speaker 4 (14:57):
You always got to question why for for the bus family,
it makes sense, I.

Speaker 2 (15:02):
Mean got it. Cuban got it for the load too.

Speaker 4 (15:04):
Though not not for No but not even Michael Jordan.
But that still could have been a playtoy for him,
is what I'm saying.

Speaker 2 (15:10):
For him.

Speaker 4 (15:10):
Life's good when you can say the place and they
and they got out before the new TV deal, So
that told me something to you know what I mean,
like they did.

Speaker 5 (15:17):
They didn't wait to see what the deal was when
they still could have got rid.

Speaker 4 (15:21):
Of them all right, eight seven seven ninety nine on
Fox eight seven seven sixty three sixty nine, It is
the Odd Couple on a worship Wednesday, and will the
new ownership group be a success with the Lakers or no?

Never it's right, never charge the job seekers a fee,
so go to expresspros dot com. As we told you
a couple of hours or so ago, the Lakers have
sold the team for worth for up to ten billion dollars,

(16:35):
So some big news there. As the Lakers have been
run with by the Bus families for over forty years,
so some mega news in the NBA world. Quite simply,
Rob and I think it's a good move from a business.
And I do think people around LA will be a
little sad, and they've gotten used to the Bus family.
They'll get over here, win the championship, start rolling in. Well,
what say U? A seven seven ninety nine on Fox?

(16:57):
Take some calls, Kevin Clover City. You're on the ond
couple of Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 2 (17:02):
What's up? Kevin?

Speaker 4 (17:03):
God is good all the time, especially when he's eating wings.

Speaker 9 (17:07):
Yep, Rob Parker, you've been calling the league since ninety
Rob Parker's becoming the league since nineteen eighty seven. I'm
gonna give you the throne on this. Well, let me
say something right now, the NBA. The Lakers are back.
This is two words, earth shattering. Sam Presty, here on notice.
You can be hired, Bob Myers, you can be hired

(17:27):
to run basketball operations. The Lakers have deep, deep, deep
pockets now and I got something for you, JJ Reddick,
you got one season because the Lakers can hire Steve
Kurdiby the head coach. They get hired Tyron lou they
gotta hire email O Doka. They got all the money
and they're gonna do everything to win. They sign no
tiny we could go get Jokis as you know Kelvin
Washington working for the Dodgers. They do everything about winning.

(17:50):
It's all about winning, baby, And the Lakers are back,
and the whole NBA is put on notice. The Lakers
have Mark Waters his owner Geenie bust has been a
great era. You cast out for billion dollars. But this
is about the Lakers restoring the number one franchise in
the league, saying we will size them up and we
are ready to start winning now and signing the best

(18:11):
coaches and players in top assistance count TIPA though Michael Malone,
we got all the money to do it now, so
this is huge. This is huge for the Lakers. It's
huge for the league, and the NBA knows that Mark
Waters buying the Lakers.

Speaker 1 (18:24):
Come on, yeah, I think I think you having the
ties too with with Magic and already being a part
owner of the team. I think a lot of folks
do feel like secure. It's not like some random outside
who's coming who you know? You feel like it's the
Evil Empire kind of thing. I think a lot of
people will be okay with that. But I will say, man,
sixteen finals appearances for the bus family.

Speaker 2 (18:43):
They only missed the playoffs twice.

Speaker 5 (18:47):
Half the league makes the playoffs like.

Speaker 4 (18:49):
No, they do not do There are some franchises, some
franchises talking about franchise.

Speaker 2 (18:55):
There's thirty teams.

Speaker 4 (18:56):
What I'm saying, teams makers play, give them plenty of teams.

Speaker 5 (19:00):
No, no, I'm not buying eleven championships.

Speaker 2 (19:03):
You're not buying eleven.

Speaker 4 (19:04):
You're up making the playoffs, win sixteen thirty teen. I'm
saying it had a bunch of playing twenty teams make
make a playoff.

Speaker 5 (19:12):
So I'm just not like the championships.

Speaker 1 (19:15):
Of what I'm saying is making it that consistent that
you hardly ever makes the play Rob, do you know
how mey teams go.

Speaker 4 (19:22):
Ten years, twelve years with I'm making a posts. Tell
me how about to let me google that.

Speaker 5 (19:26):
Google Tell any who who's going twelve years in the
NBA without making the playoffs.

Speaker 2 (19:31):
Give it to you. There's if you hold on because
everyone makes the playoff.

Speaker 1 (19:34):
When the last time the Wizards went, oh yeah, let
me get these numbers real quick before we got coming up,
Sean Paul uh Powell, not Sean Sean Paul, Yeah, make
I said, and Seanpowell NBA dot com scribes getting ready
to join us. Little bit Monzi, please tell us what's training?

Speaker 7 (19:49):
Why?

Speaker 2 (19:49):
I tell him how frequently teams don't make the postseason.

Speaker 3 (19:52):

Speaker 2 (20:04):
See I couple Robert Kelvin on a Wormon.

Speaker 5 (20:07):
He said the Wizards they made the playoffs four years ago. Okay,
I'm just saying That's that's how bad the Wizards are.

Speaker 2 (20:12):
They made the playoffs four years ago.

Speaker 1 (20:14):
Did you just come back on here? Did you just
come back on here to say that? And that was
like last year?

Speaker 4 (20:18):
How about the Utah Jazz four years ago? They made
the playoffs three years ago. I could just go on
and on the plae, go and on it four years ago.

Speaker 2 (20:26):
So you're already doing making it like about this.

Speaker 4 (20:30):
Both team he just missed he mentioned, have gone longer
than the Lakers did in decades missing the playoffs.

Speaker 2 (20:36):
But you just proved my point.

Speaker 9 (20:37):
Rob.

Speaker 2 (20:37):
You literally just.

Speaker 4 (20:40):
Two teams you name you missed the playoffs, wiz Time said.
The Wizards said four years years that ain't no drownt
And guess what next year is going to be, righting five?

Speaker 2 (20:51):
They're going to the postseason for the next five years.
For seven years missed.

Speaker 4 (20:56):
I mean, like you send me that the Yankees or
the Red Sox or some team didn't make The Red
Sox haven't made the playoffs, the Lakers haven't made the
players and what Kobe's last five or six years.

Speaker 2 (21:06):
That was what they made. They just they made a
couple They were just bad teams. No, they didn't make
the playoffs.

Speaker 1 (21:12):
They missed a couple and then they made a couple.
They were just terrible, all right, it is the couple
were poured on thick for the home team. Come on, man,
you see the Detroit or l a everything. Wait wait
wait wait, everything's great.

Speaker 2 (21:26):
Oh, so that's what we're doing. That's what we're doing.

Speaker 1 (21:30):
Let's go where we hey, Alex, where my TV go?
Where my Yankees go? Okay, okay, joining us now NBA
dot comscribed, he is on with us? Sean, what's up?

Speaker 3 (21:43):
Man?

Speaker 4 (21:43):
We you caught us right in the middle argument. This
is what we're doing. Sean, what's happening?

Speaker 2 (21:47):
My man?

Speaker 8 (21:48):
Well, actually, you guys have caught me at a bad time.
I'm actually a little depressed because I did nine billion
on the Lakers and came up.

Speaker 2 (21:56):
See there you go, just a billion on next year.
You never know you might have a chance.

Speaker 4 (22:02):
Well, the comical thing is that Genie bust is still
going to run the team, Like.

Speaker 2 (22:07):
Yeah, is that right? I thought Mark Cuban was running
the Mavericks too.

Speaker 8 (22:12):
Come on, yeah, I'll tell you what if I'm dropping
that kind of coin I'm having last day and first
say on everything, I don't know.

Speaker 5 (22:21):
Why they have to put that out there to make
cerimony on or you.

Speaker 4 (22:24):
Know, so people think, oh, well, she's not going They
didn't put her out.

Speaker 5 (22:27):
They gave her ten billion dollars.

Speaker 2 (22:29):
You didn't get fired.

Speaker 8 (22:33):
The way the sports teams are being sold today is outrageous,
but it's all because of this. Number one, people are
addicted to sports, that's number one. And number two the media,
right skills are ridiculous because of the digital age. You're
talking about streaming, you're talking about broadcasting, talking about a
lot of different platforms, and so they're tapping into those

(22:54):
revenue streams. However, it's all on spec you know, I'll
be very curious if you know people are going to
get their money's worse after paying these kind of prices
where these teams, well, let.

Speaker 2 (23:05):
Me say this, Sean, we just brought this up.

Speaker 4 (23:08):
I think you start looking at the people who are
getting out Michael Jordan, Mark Cuban, the Celtics, the Lakers,
like like this is some of those guys got out
before the big TV deal, the new one, and now
people are getting out even with it. They are The
Celtics have two sixty million dollar a year players that

(23:28):
the salaries are going up you know what I mean, Like,
is that a sign that people want out?

Speaker 8 (23:36):
Yeah? I just think people are cash now because they
just want to, you know, do something else with their money.
With Michael Jordan, he just wanted to spend more money
into his racing company. So they just want to just
take that money and go someplace else. And I'll tell
you what. If you're Glenn Taylor and you sold the
Minnesota Timbules for one point five billion to Alex Rodriguez

(23:57):
and Mark Lori, I mean you got to feel pretty
short change today.

Speaker 4 (24:03):
I mean they're not the Lakers, no, but it does
sound it seems a little low. Yeah, like he should
have been at least three bill yet I don't think
there's six, maybe two or three billion at the minimum.

Speaker 8 (24:13):
Yeah, yeah, I would, I would think so, I would
think so. But look, I mean, like I said, man,
that's a foreign language to me. I got up to
nine billions, but you know I couldn't the four ten,
so you know, I had to bowl out. So that's
just the way it goes.

Speaker 4 (24:24):
Sean, I will get into the NBA Finals. We know,
we got Game six tomorrow.

Speaker 1 (24:27):
We're still trying to find out what's up with this, right,
calf strain for Tyre's Hellerburton.

Speaker 2 (24:32):
Whill he play, won't he play? But what do you
make of their chances?

Speaker 1 (24:35):
You know, we have Rick Carlo come out and say
that they're planning for two options, one with them, one without.
What do you make of kind of both scenarios? If
he plays but he's not, obviously he won't be one
hundred percent, what are you making in if they have
to go without him?

Speaker 8 (24:46):
Well, look, I mean they're not a better team without them,
so and their chances aren't better without them. So I
mean let's get that right away. As far as his availability,
I don't think anybody knows until you know, game time tomorrow.
I mean, he's got to be feeling better. I think
we can all we can all conclude that he's not
going to be one hundred percent. Now, it's just about

(25:07):
what percent is he going to be? Number one? And
number two? Is he going to be able to finish
the game? You know, after number one playing defense and
playing offense, you're using all that energy. And he already
has what like eighty games or ninety games whatever it
is right now worth of wear and tear on his
body anyway, So I think it's up to number whether

(25:29):
or not the Pacers can find someone else to you know,
to be a playmaker to replace his scoring. We saw
it with TJ McConnell in the third quarter last game.
He gave him a spark. But you know, you know,
sometimes when you use a reserve and you give them
twenty minutes, they're fantastic. Once you start giving them twenty
five to thirty minutes, maybe they're not so fantastic. So

(25:51):
I think it will the Pacers will probably have to
play a near perfect game to send this into a
game SEVENCE.

Speaker 2 (25:58):
Yeah, this is going to be interesting. Uh you never know.

Speaker 4 (26:01):
Sometimes teams when they have a player down, they rally,
you know, like it's it's unpredictable.

Speaker 5 (26:06):
But on paper you would just go figure it's a blowout.

Speaker 4 (26:09):
And and then there's no way that uh that uh
Indiana would be able to win. But you never know,
and you can have a bad night and also referee
in what if Shay gets two early fouls or something,
you know what I mean, Sean, Like you know how
the NBA it can change the complexion of the game
right out the box.

Speaker 8 (26:29):
Yeah, And one other thing, rob is is very hard
to close out a team on their own court. Uh,
they have all the emotion in the building.

Speaker 4 (26:36):
Uh.

Speaker 8 (26:36):
They're fighting for for for their playoff lives. Uh, these
guys are going to be biting, scratching. You know, it's
gonna be like a w NBA game out there, and uh,
you know, so the Pacers are going to give everything
they have.

Speaker 7 (26:52):
Uh.

Speaker 8 (26:52):
But of course, if you're Oklahoma City and you're right
at the cusp of the championships, I think you're going
to probably have to respond to the to the punch
and throw a count of punch. And I think they will.
I think the series is going to end in Game six.
And it doesn't really you know, doesn't say have anything
bad about the Indiana Pacers season. Nobody really expecting them

(27:13):
to get here, and they played well throughout the playoffs.
Tyre's halliburt and everybody gets on him, But there are
a lot of players in the Hall of Fame who
didn't have the type of postseason run that he's had
this year, with all those game winning shots and shots
that you know, forcing overtime and winning and so again,
it's no reflection on the Pacers, but it just shows
you that study your eye tests from way back in

(27:37):
October to Now, who's been the best team in the NBA.
It's been to Oklahoma sixty thunder sixty eight wins. So
I don't think my eye test is going to deceive me.
They're the best team and I think they're going to win.

Speaker 3 (27:48):
Well.

Speaker 4 (27:48):
I mean, the Warriors set a record and they wound
up losing, and they were up three to one and
lost a championship. I mean it's not inconceivable that that
could happen as well.

Speaker 8 (28:02):
Yeah, absolutely absolutely, But I don't know how many times
over the course that say. I mean, maybe that happens
one time.

Speaker 4 (28:08):
No, that's it only happened one time in the FBA history,
and this wouldn't be a three to one situation. But
I'm just saying, like, like, that's the importance of being
able to close up games. Let me ask you this,
And I know the commissioner was trying to spin it
in he sent out minions to talk about you know, like,
you can't have it both ways with the ratings, Sean,
you knew the ratings weren't going to be good. Two

(28:30):
small market teams. It just it's it is what it is.
We always talk about it. The Spurs have the Spurs
were a great team and have like two or three
are the worst rated you know, NBA Finals.

Speaker 5 (28:42):
There's a small market that NETS had a couple.

Speaker 4 (28:44):
Of them, you know in New Jersey with no TV
market fans in New York not Karen, How surprised are
you that that some of these nights were like the
worst ever or worst in you know since COVID How
how surprised were you with.

Speaker 5 (28:58):
Was it that bad?

Speaker 9 (28:59):
Yeah?

Speaker 8 (29:00):
You know, and I think it goes just a little
bit beyond small market. I don't think that there's this
sort of like, you know, a basketball player in this
series who goes, you know, beyond basketball, who transcends the
sport at all. I think casual basketball fans would probably
have tuned in if there was that type of player

(29:21):
in this series. But I look, I judge a superstar,
and I know we throw that word around a lot.

Speaker 2 (29:28):
And everybody's not a superstar.

Speaker 8 (29:30):
I'm with you, I know exactly. Number one, are fans
circling the date on their calendar to when you show
up in town. That's a superstar. When you know people
are like, oh man, someone Sos come to town, let
me say. And then there's another criteria is that player
so good that he can take your team to a

(29:52):
championship or at least get you to the final. So
you've got to fill one or two of those, uh
you know those definitions. And you know you could say
that about Shae fine, but Shane his game is on
the ground. You know, he's not up in the air.
You know, he doesn't have that magnetic personality. Good guy,
good guy, good player. I'm not saying that, but he

(30:14):
just doesn't have that special pizzant. And this guy is
the MVP. Tyy s k Halliburt in the same way,
plays on the ground. And none of these teams have
that dynamic player, that dynamic personality, which I think you
need on the biggest stage, you know, in the NBA season.
They just don't have it.

Speaker 1 (30:31):
You absolutely need a superstar or something.

Speaker 2 (30:34):
Rob and I talked about the Knicks.

Speaker 1 (30:37):
You know, if the Knicks would have made it, even
if they don't have a you know, Jaylen Brunson right
on the verge of superstar, huge would have been huge.

Speaker 8 (30:46):
Well, Well let me just say that about the Knicks. Now,
outside of New York, I don't I think a lot
of people play.

Speaker 1 (30:51):
Nah, people would have watched you don't think so, sewn Nann.

Speaker 4 (30:54):
Once since nineteen seventy three, I think there would have
been a lot just I see, I think what's going
on here?

Speaker 8 (31:01):
No, well, look, I think there's been more eyeballs on
this series if they were in. But I don't think
they would have been approaching records, rating records and things.

Speaker 4 (31:11):
Like that just because it's the next It's New York
Madison Square Garden sphere. It's like when the Cubs finally
had a chance to win a World Series and who
else are we missing? Uh?

Speaker 8 (31:25):
But see the one thing, that one difference with the
Cubs in New York. The Cubs are lovable, lovable, Yeah, but.

Speaker 1 (31:32):
That's what But Seawan, you know, you get folks who
love them, you get folks who hate them, but they're
going to tune in and uh and that the league
would have liked that. But Shaw, we appreciate you, man,
Sean Paul Paul NBA people.

Speaker 4 (31:44):
Wait a minute, right, you got your let his handle
Powell to the people, there's nothing better than that.

Speaker 2 (31:50):
I gotta get you. That's a good one right there.

Speaker 8 (31:52):
That I appreciate you guys.

Speaker 2 (31:55):
Show And guess why I had lunch with today? Who's
that Curtis Bud.

Speaker 5 (31:58):
Curtis Bund and I had lunch today in Los Angeles.

Speaker 8 (32:01):
Oh wow, that's that's a name from the past, you know,
the New York writer and everything. All Right, I see you.
That's what you keep here. That had been Goodtis was
on the beat the last time the Nicks went to
the NBA finals. Curtis was right, I believe for the
dayly news back.

Speaker 4 (32:16):
Yep, you're absolutely right. We all worked together back in
the day. Sean thought he was about to say last
time that when they won. Y how long?

Speaker 2 (32:23):
Was he right? Curtis? Ain't that alright? All right? Sew,
thank you man, appreciate it.

Speaker 8 (32:28):
Okay, guys, we'll see you all right.

Speaker 2 (34:23):
Hey, here we go sheyckel City. Did we do it? Yeah,
we're already there, aren't we? Yeah we're there.

Speaker 4 (34:27):
Oh, here we go one and two. Last night, one
sixty three and one sixty three. My best bet Yankees
minus one and a half. I just assume that we
gonna win. We gotta watch it to see it. Rock
come on where they at.

Speaker 2 (34:39):
No, no, no, we're not doing that right now.

Speaker 4 (34:41):
Uh So the Yankees minus one and a half against
the Angels in the Bronx. I got the Mets plus
one and a half runs and they're already down three
to nothing. These were all posted earlier, and the Orioles
minus one and a half as well. So Oriols minus
one and a half, Mets plus one and a half,
and the Yankees minus one and a half. And remember

(35:02):
Calvin's that I'm not telling you who to bet on,
I'm telling you who I bet on.

Speaker 2 (35:08):
All right, it's time now for the tire Iraq Play

Stanley staying in South Florida.

Speaker 2 (35:18):

Speaker 3 (35:19):

Speaker 4 (36:08):

you when was the last time Canadian team won? A
Stanley cup. What year would you just I would talk?
I would like to think like three years ago, four
years ago. I know that ain't it, but that's what
it seems like.

Speaker 2 (36:19):
Right. They invented the spart.

Speaker 5 (36:21):
How about nineteen ninety three? Can you believe that?

Speaker 2 (36:23):
Nothing? Nineteen ninety three? Yeah?

Speaker 4 (36:27):
So yes, Ryan Burschinger one of our what's what's is
the correct title?

Speaker 2 (36:33):
A producer producer.

Speaker 4 (36:35):
He's getting married on Saturday, So that's the wedding I'm
going through and I'm looking forward to it.

Speaker 2 (36:39):
He has a beautiful Yah. He kicked his coverage, you know,
his borderline uncomfortable. How often you mentioned what looks like?

Speaker 1 (36:46):
Hey, I'm not gonna lie. This is the fourth time
since I ain't been on the show but about eight
nine months.

Speaker 2 (36:50):
It's not uncomfortable.

Speaker 4 (36:51):
But that's why I'm getting an invite because I think
she's hot. Wait, hold on, I'm going to say that.
I just said she's beautiful. I didn't say I never
used the term hot. Oh, I just use another adjective
that sounds like it. Rob G did. Obviously she was.
I just said she was beautiful. That's seriously. You have
a screenshot of her too, so you got a screenshot
of Alex's bou Ryan's fiance my wife.

Speaker 2 (37:13):
