Speaker 1 (01:26):
What's up man, what's happening in Chris Bussard? Happy Friday?
Speaker 2 (01:29):
How are you?
Speaker 3 (01:30):
Yes?
Speaker 5 (01:31):
Happy Friday to you I'm good. I'm good, big weekend plan. No,
In fact, my wife is in DC. She's just arriving
around now for a gastrow entrologist. Com Wow, that sounds exciting. Yeah,
you'll be passing gas. She she's a gaster durologist. So
(01:55):
that's what they are gathering for a weekend or actually
a long weekend of you know, discussion and conferences and
get to know each other, talk about technique and right
stuff that they do.
Speaker 6 (02:09):
I guess now it ain't sports, right, the NABJ convention
come on now, like, I can't wait till August and
Chicago always look forward to know that I do.
Speaker 1 (02:21):
And you know it's a good time to be able
to mix with people and the business. You know what
I mean. You know that every time you leave the
convention it feels good.
Speaker 2 (02:29):
It's fun. Yeah.
Speaker 1 (02:30):
Uh, I'm asking him be a naive because I don't know.
Is the issues that your wife helps to deal with,
we'll say, to get gastro.
Speaker 2 (02:42):
Yes.
Speaker 1 (02:43):
Is that natural or is that like, are you born
with those things, Chris, or does that develop because of
stuff you do. I'm just curious.
Speaker 5 (02:51):
I'm certainly not any expert. There's a variety of things
she deals with. But some of the stuff she does
so like they do colonoscopies, you know, which you know, men,
men should get what around forty five.
Speaker 1 (03:05):
Years fifty, unless there's some sort of history in your family,
then you should go earlier.
Speaker 5 (03:11):
And women, I think a little bit later. But you know,
all of us as we get up there need to
do colonosopy. So that she does that. She does endoscopies,
which I think is the throat, you know, something like that,
you know, the similar procedures but in the throat or whatever,
and anything dealing with the gastro intestinal track, internal medicine,
(03:33):
things like that. Yeah, I went there because you know how,
In fact, this happened a couple of times recently on.
Speaker 2 (03:39):
The air when I've gotten stuff my throat. So my
I went to her practice. I didn't see her. You know,
they don't.
Speaker 5 (03:45):
You don't, they don't, preferably you don't see family. I
think that makes sense, Yeah, absolutely so. But I went
to you know, another doctor in her practice, and they said,
so maya esophagus. I can't remember what the the term
for this is called, but picture a stack of quarters. Okay, okay,
(04:06):
so if you picture a stack of quarters. It's gonna
be ridges right down the side as you go down.
They said, that's how my esophagus is, and so occasionally
food to get caught, Yeah, in those ridges, and that's
where sometimes I have issues.
Speaker 2 (04:21):
It happens maybe a couple of times a year.
Speaker 1 (04:24):
No, well we've seen a couple of times in.
Speaker 2 (04:27):
Right, so but yeah, so that's what she does. So yes, yes,
all right, so let us.
Speaker 1 (04:37):
Welcome in the crew and get us on this.
Speaker 5 (04:39):
We got super producer Rob g Is in full effect
running things on the updates.
Speaker 2 (04:46):
You just heard him a few moments ago.
Speaker 5 (04:47):
It was Steve de Sager and on social media of course,
the great Elijah Sabuna. Yeah, and on the ones and
twos in for DJ Alex tightsher it is none other
than that's right Mary, Mary doing her thing. It's a
(05:11):
funky flashback Friday too. So let's see, you know, we
we we take this day seriously.
Speaker 2 (05:16):
I'm crazy, all right, those prates it better be Dusty
So hey, I got you, I got you, all right,
all right?
Speaker 3 (05:23):
All right?
Speaker 2 (05:24):
Rob? Last night, man, you talk about a route.
Speaker 5 (05:30):
The uh Denver Nuggets just absolutely demolished. The Ugets got
the Timber ones absolutely denw demolished the Denver Nuggets. They
led by fifty at one point. They won one fifteen
to seventy. That's a forty five point win. But they
(05:50):
actually were up by fifty, and obviously that is something
you just don't see. And I'm not gonna rub it
in even though turn about his fair play, Even though
I could say you.
Speaker 2 (06:06):
Were wrong, Rob Parker, what happened?
Speaker 5 (06:10):
You said that Timberwolves wouldn't win another game?
Speaker 2 (06:15):
You were wrong?
Speaker 4 (06:16):
Rob?
Speaker 2 (06:17):
You will I can say all of that, but I won't.
Speaker 1 (06:21):
Okay, thanks, you shall, like stephen A there right there,
but I won't.
Speaker 7 (06:26):
I won't.
Speaker 2 (06:27):
I'll let it go. But uh no, what what Let
let we're gonna get to that.
Speaker 5 (06:32):
Well, we're gonna start with with uh with the golf, Scott, Yeah,
the I mean, this story trumps everything, Scottie Scheffler.
Speaker 1 (06:40):
Right, uh, real quick. On the game, Chris, just my thoughts.
I told you when they couldn't make a shot, I
looked at it as you hate to lose in that fashion. Obviously,
forty five points, that's not what you want to do.
But you just have to shake it off, you know,
and just be like, be like it was a bad
day at the office. There's nothing else you could take
from that. You can't watch that back. There's nothing, and
(07:00):
I think they'll be able to.
Speaker 5 (07:02):
I mean, I got Minnesota, that was my pick originally
in seven. But yeah, I think Denver that's what they'll do.
The bigger question is how is Jamal Murray's elbow. But
we'll get to all of that later. But yes, Rob,
I wake up this morning, as probably did you, from
hearing all this stuff about Scotty Scheffler, the number one
golfer in the world, and he's arrested and you know,
(07:26):
a felony and a couple misdemeanors against a police officer.
I mean, Rob g you you want to explain, and
I mean briefly what happened. I mean most people know,
but you want to kind of give a brief summary
just for those that might not be aware of what
happened with Scotty Scheffler.
Speaker 8 (07:43):
Sure.
Speaker 9 (07:43):
So, first and foremost what happened was there was a
road closure Avalhalla because unfortunately a pedestrian was killed in
a traffic accident. That should be the bigger story, right,
But because of that, they shut down the streets and
the driveway through Valhalla's very narrow as people know who've
been there, and they were only letting in players who
(08:07):
had to get ready for their TMR. People are associated having
to get their tea time very early. And Scheffler had
a marked vehicle he was supposed to be given access.
The cops didn't want him to go through, so decided
to drive up on the side median to get through,
and an officer was very upset about that, attached himself
to the car was basically quote unquote dragged for ten
(08:31):
yards or so.
Speaker 2 (08:32):
Now let me ask this, Rob Gi.
Speaker 5 (08:34):
The story I read with Scheffler, he said he was
in the back seat, so he wasn't driving, right.
Speaker 8 (08:41):
I'd have to clarify that because.
Speaker 5 (08:43):
Because I didn't see them state in unequivocally that he
wasn't driving. But he in one of his quotes, he said,
I was just sitting in the back seat, which makes sense.
I mean, I'm sure he does have a driver.
Speaker 8 (08:56):
To drive it, right, they think they almost all do.
Speaker 2 (08:58):
Yeah? Yeah, so that wouldn't you know?
Speaker 5 (09:00):
So if indeed, because I know they said that his
car took off right after they so maybe that cop
or police officer did get dragged. That wouldn't I wouldn't
think be on Scottie Scheffler, Like, he doesn't seem concerned
about these charges, you know what I mean.
Speaker 9 (09:16):
He seems calm, right, right, And so the officer asked
him to get out of the car, and according to
ESPN Jeff Darlington, once Scheffler rolled down the window, he
was pulled out of the car and eventually he was arrested,
you know, for as you alluded to assaulting a police
officer and several other charges. He was handcuffed, he was
taking to jail, he had the mugshot and everything, and
(09:37):
because this was basically seen as one big misunderstanding, he
was released and was still able to make his tea
time because of the delay from earlier because of the pedestrian.
Speaker 5 (09:47):
Nobody else would be nobody. But I think that was
the right thing to let him. I think that was
the right thing to let him.
Speaker 1 (09:57):
I'm not so sure that if he was any nobody
else under the same exact circumstances that he would be
let out. It's just that he's a golfer.
Speaker 2 (10:05):
He's just that well, and he's a celebrity.
Speaker 1 (10:07):
Team No, but yeah, I totally agree with you that said,
like it could be a misunderstanding with you or me
and Chris.
Speaker 5 (10:13):
You wouldn't be out of prison that quickly. But I'm
not mad at this. They they should have never and
I don't know who's at fault, but he shouldn't have
been hemmed up like that when he's just on his
way to a freaking PGA event. I mean, so I'm
glad that he got out quickly. And and you know
(10:34):
what was interesting too, he did not according to the reports,
he didn't tell them like, hey, I'm Scottie Scheffler, like
I'm you know, I'm in this event.
Speaker 2 (10:43):
Like I think he may.
Speaker 5 (10:44):
Have said he's got a te time or he's got
a golf but I know the quote say the story
said he did not tell them who he was. I
would have been telling him who I was, not in
a braggadocious way or arrogant way.
Speaker 2 (10:59):
You know who I am. But I'm Chris. You know
why I'm like, I'm Chris Brusorr.
Speaker 5 (11:03):
I have to be on the air in twenty minutes
like we're doing you know what I mean, We're doing
a show from here. That's why we're trying to get it.
So something like that, like that type of thing.
Speaker 9 (11:12):
But well, you know what's interesting about that, Chris is
ESPN Jef Darte, who was the one who was all
over this all morning because he was on location. He said,
after Scheffler was arrested, another officer came up and said, hey,
who was that that we just arrested? And then they
found out and made it exit out of the whole process.
Speaker 5 (11:27):
But but that's the thing that's baffling that nobody said.
Speaker 3 (11:31):
Who he was.
Speaker 8 (11:31):
Well, he ain't Tiger Woods like I.
Speaker 5 (11:34):
Get that they didn't recognize him, but nobody said, hey,
this is Scotty Scheffler, even the driver, if indeed Scheffler
wasn't driving, Hey, this is Scotty s Sheffler. He just
won the pt York PGA event. He's got a ten
am T time whatever. We're just trying to get in
a little word. I'm shocked that nobody said that, well shot, Yeah,
(11:58):
and then Rob, would you Rob, if you were in
that backseat, don't you wouldn't you have said? Again, I'm
not talking about Yo, you know who I am. I'm
talking about hey, officer, I'm here to work and I've
got to be on the air in thirty minutes, like.
Speaker 1 (12:11):
Right, No, it is surprising that it would go that
far without them really knowing or at least having a conversation.
But then you don't know, like when they went to
take him out or handcuff him, like what is was
he belligerent? Or like what was the because you could
have a conversation. It's surprising that they didn't have a
conversation before you just slap cuffs.
Speaker 9 (12:34):
On people, right, Well, Scheffler did say that the other
officers were very nice to him, very accommodating, And you know,
you're surprised he didn'tname drop himself. Are you more surprised
by that or the fact that when he did get
out of jail about ninety minutes later, he's teeen it
up and he shoots five under to stay in contention
here in the mej jam.
Speaker 5 (12:50):
That's pretty impressive, Chris, right there, major props.
Speaker 2 (12:53):
But we've seen some stuff before.
Speaker 1 (12:55):
Remember the Kobe during the rape case, Chris, they were
flying him back and forth. He played throughout that whole thing.
That would never happen today, But during that time, you
remember the Lakers were flying him back and forth to court.
Speaker 3 (13:05):
No.
Speaker 5 (13:06):
I was covering that series for the New York Times,
and Kobe was phenomenal. That's when Shaq was consistently saying.
Speaker 2 (13:15):
He must have said it four or.
Speaker 5 (13:17):
Four times or something like four or five times during
that either that series or the playoffs in general, he's
the best player ever. He's Kobe. He's the best one
ever doing. And I remember I went up to Shack
after one of the games because Kobe was hitting forties,
you know, thirty something, forty, you know, some forty point
games or at least one, and I said, well, Shaq,
(13:38):
you've been saying Kobe's the best player ever. I said,
what about Mike? And he was like, what about Mike?
You know, like that's what he's said, what about him? Like,
but Kobe, to your point, Rob was bald right during
that time. He was killing. And I do think sometimes Rob,
(14:02):
if you're in a situation like that where you just know,
like you're whether it's something like Kobe was going through
or this situation where you're rushed, you almost Rob don't
have time to think.
Speaker 2 (14:13):
It's like, look, I just got to get out there
and play, like you know what I mean.
Speaker 5 (14:16):
You don't have time to ruminate on the moment what
this means to what you're doing. Right, It's like when
you and I wrote game stories on deadline. You don't
have time to ruminate and think. You got forty five
minutes to write it and you gotta get it in.
(14:37):
And Rob a lot of times with me when we
would have like that rare early afternoon game or something,
and I'd have like seven hours.
Speaker 2 (14:47):
It would be brutal.
Speaker 5 (14:48):
You right, it would take me longer, much longer. And
I'm sitting here, Why am I freaking.
Speaker 2 (14:54):
Because thinking it? Could you have time?
Speaker 1 (14:57):
And when you don't have time that we had an
old saying in the baseball just write it, like you
don't have time to think about it, Chris, you got
forty five minutes, like you said, just write it.
Speaker 2 (15:06):
You're not trying to be.
Speaker 5 (15:07):
Cute, right, right, And I think that's that may have
been some similar to the mentality that Scheffler had. Look
hopefully it was no there's no issues coming out of this.
He seems to, you know, have a good attitude about it.
It was just a misunderstanding. Obviously it didn't hurt his game,
and so you know, hopefully everything will be all right
(15:27):
from this. And obviously Rob, we want to send condolencens
out to the family of the person who was killed.
You know, it was a vendor, an employee for a
vendor at the event, and very unfortunate.
Speaker 2 (15:42):
Yes, so prayers out to their family. All right? A
seven seven ninety nine On Fox? What are your thoughts?
Speaker 5 (15:47):
Scotty Scheffler shows a tremendous ability to compartmentalize and he's
right there near the top of the leaderboard, tie for fourth.

a crazy day?

Safety Runs First dot com. A seven seven ninety nine
on Fox, Scottischeffler after a wild day, just puts forth
a tremendous performance on the PGA Tour event and we
want your comments, your thoughts. Are you impressed with his
abilit ability to compartmentalize or any other aspect of this
(17:36):
crazy story you want to talk about?
Speaker 1 (17:38):
All right, Chris, let's kick it off with Kelly in
South Dakota. You're in the Odd Couple of Fox Sports Radio.
What's up, Kelly?
Speaker 10 (17:46):
Hey, guys, thanks for having me on.
Speaker 11 (17:47):
Appreciate it, Love you guys, a show.
Speaker 2 (17:49):
Thank you, thank you on everything.
Speaker 10 (17:51):
Hey, a couple things on this. First off, I think
it's really cool of Scotty that he's not name dropping,
and that not only that, but he was he was
complicent with with authorities, you know, didn't make a big
fuss about it or you know, try to be combative
and just kind of let it play out. But techonally.
The one thing I thought was interesting is when what
(18:14):
police department places they say attached attach yourself to a vehicle,
because the reports are as someone attached himself to a
vehicle and he drug him. That's kind of weird.
Speaker 11 (18:24):
Yeah, and I don't know yet.
Speaker 2 (18:27):
It is strange. Let me ask see.
Speaker 5 (18:29):
I don't even look at it like he would have
been name dropping.
Speaker 2 (18:34):
I think it'd be one thing if he was like, look,
do you know who I am?
Speaker 5 (18:37):
When you get out of my way, I'm Scottie Scheffler. Like,
but if he just says the officer, I'm Scottie Scheffler.
I'm competing in the event. I have a tea time
at ten am. You know, like obviously they're going to
treat a golfer in the tournament differently than just a
random fan or person that's going to watch it. So
(18:58):
I'm not even saying like trying to be big time,
but just to kind of clear up the situation, which
Rob I would think, you know, if they know it's
a golfer competing in the tournament, particularly one of the
top ones, I think it might have expedited things.
Speaker 1 (19:14):
Yeah, I just I just think people gotta be careful that,
you know, are you sure? Like Scotty says he doesn't
know what's going on, that didn't sound like a regular
security Chris for to get into a golf course with
flashing lights and all these cops like something's going on
and he's driving, you know, off the road to try
(19:35):
to get there. You know, like there's something going on,
and it doesn't mean you can't try to find out.
I just wonder if you're a cop and you're seeing that,
despite it being an event, and you know that they're golfers,
and you know what's happening, right, you're not sure of that?
Your first reaction is why would they be driving recklessly ly?
(19:56):
You know what I mean, not on the road. That's
all I'm saying. And I'm not trying of making excuses
for the cops. But if if I was a cop,
I would say, that's why wouldn't I stop this guy?
Uh Jay, let's do Uh? Uh Jay? You're in the
odd couple of fox sporituitio. What's up?
Speaker 10 (20:12):
Jake?
Speaker 11 (20:13):
Hey? What's something?
Speaker 2 (20:14):
How you doing good? Jake?
Speaker 11 (20:16):
First of all, I gotta correct you, guys, as the
guy with hip hop. You guys one time suggested that
pop was more commercial than Biggie, and you had it
totally reversed. Biggie was definitely more commercial than pop, and
pop was more street than Biggie. That being said, would look, I.
Speaker 5 (20:34):
Think they both were street, and I think they both
were commercial. I mean they both got commercialized that Biggie.
Speaker 11 (20:41):
You said Biggie was more.
Speaker 1 (20:43):
When was this conversation eight years ago?
Speaker 2 (20:45):
Conversation? What was this? What was this conversation? Like, I
don't remember. How would we be talking about Biggie and
POC recently?
Speaker 11 (20:51):
It was last year? It was correct you for that long.
Speaker 5 (20:55):
Okay, go ahead, you got correct as you shared your
opinion with valuable FU.
Speaker 1 (21:00):
We love it.
Speaker 2 (21:01):
Yes.
Speaker 11 (21:02):
So the other part of this is I think we
have to be careful when we say and another radio host,
I won't say his whole name, last name, Russo suggested today,
My goodness, he's Scotty Scheffler. They shouldn't have arrested him.
And I think that's insane.
Speaker 2 (21:16):
No, that is insane. Well, it's insane.
Speaker 5 (21:18):
If he did something, if he did something wrong that's
arrest worthy, he should be arrested.
Speaker 2 (21:23):
But if it was, if it wasn't arrest.
Speaker 5 (21:26):
Worthy and cops just trying to flex, then I got
an issue.
Speaker 2 (21:30):
With that too.
Speaker 11 (21:32):
Right, But how many times have we said have we
heard the words you just need to comply?
Speaker 2 (21:37):
Right? No, I agree you have. Well, it sounds I
don't know that Scheffler didn't comply.
Speaker 11 (21:42):
I'm not saying he didn't, but I'm saying that so
obviously the cop, the cops didn't just arresting me for
no reason.
Speaker 1 (21:48):
He had to feel like there was a reason, right right, exactly,
I'm with you. I don't think that it could just
be just because that.
Speaker 11 (21:58):
We see it Happenottyfflerffler's okay, and he's a regular person.
Speaker 2 (22:06):
And nothing.
Speaker 5 (22:07):
He's competing in this big time pg ef it Now again,
that doesn't give him the right to act a fool
and challenge cops.
Speaker 2 (22:14):
So if he did that, fine, arrest him but.
Speaker 5 (22:17):
If he was cool, if he was relaxed, and it
was a big misunderstanding, and you know, I think that's different.
Speaker 2 (22:25):
It just is. I think that is the laws. Of
course it is. But I don't know that he even
did anything wrong.
Speaker 1 (22:35):
Yeah, but I don't know. He didn't do anything wrong.
Speaker 2 (22:37):
I don't think if he did something wrong.
Speaker 1 (22:40):
Cops are over zealous, but they're also I said that
of Chris. I've been with over zealous cops, but also
people think that they're bigger than the law and they
can be given and they can do no.
Speaker 2 (22:52):
But I think that they think they're well.
Speaker 1 (22:54):
But he's driving in a dangerous spot when there's a
when there's an incident going on like that. That's why
it didn't like they pulled them out of the line
for no reason. He's doing something that would make a
cop want to stop all I have probably.
Speaker 5 (23:09):
With him stopping him, all right, probab would have stopped me,
and I'm probably would arrested him if he did. I'm wrong,
all right, eight seven seven ninety nine on Fox, should
be it away. In next hour, we're gonna talk a
little bit of Nuggets, Timberwolves, the topic Rob wants to avoid,
but first.
Speaker 3 (23:25):

Speaker 5 (23:37):
Rob, we got a big time Game seven in Denver
on Sunday the Timberwolves. Man, what a performance. They routed
Denver by forty five points, lambabey as much as fifty
and they didn't take their foot off the gas, which
was impressive.
Speaker 2 (23:56):
Because I'll be honest, Rob, watching that game, and I
know you said it was over. I think in the
second quarter seven.
Speaker 5 (24:04):
I was like during the third, late in the third,
I'm like, man, look today's NBA Denver is great.
Speaker 1 (24:12):
No, you know, I thought it was.
Speaker 5 (24:15):
You know, they were comfortable, but I still was like,
you know, let's see until you know, or kind of
early in the fourth quarter. But anyway, who do you like?
I got two questions for you. Who do you think
wins Game seven and why? And then who do you
(24:36):
think it is better for the NBA to have win
Game seven? Yo, Kitchen, the Nuggets or Anthony Edwards and
the Timberwolves.
Speaker 1 (24:47):
I think Denver wins at home Game seven. Bad day
at the office last night, just just gotta kind of
wipe it out, get back to doing what you're doing.
You're never gonna shoot that Polly again.
Speaker 2 (24:59):
And then.
Speaker 1 (25:01):
For the NBA, I think the Nuggets are an impressive story.
I know everybody likes the new hotness, and I think
there's time for the Timberwolves an ant man and everybody's excited.
But if the Joker pulls this off and wins another
championship back to back, we talk about it all the
time about having little dynasties that could be an intriguing
(25:26):
storyline as we go forward. And who will be able
to knock off the Joker going forward? Who will be
that team? Is there somebody to do it? I think
that's an interesting storyline. So I see the Minnesota side, Chris,
but I like everything about Denver. They're a team only
one all star like, there's a lot of things to
(25:48):
like about them. They're a complete team. A lot of
people it's hard to dislike that team. What is there
to dislike about the Denver Nuggets. I'm not saying you're
rooting for him, Chris, don't get me wrong, like other
fan base, but it's hard for me to look at
that team with Mike Malone and and that squad and say,
oh I hate those guys.
Speaker 2 (26:08):
Oh no, of course I agree with that.
Speaker 5 (26:10):
And I agree that having Denver win and going to
win the championship is not bad for the league because
we've talked about it, rob when they've had dynasties. As
much as people like parody, the seems like the league
has been at its height or its highest levels when
(26:31):
there's been dynasties. In the eighties, of course you had
to show time Lakers, and you had the Bird Celtics
who were right there with them. In the nineties, of
course you had Jordan. I mean, those are just too pivotal,
probably not probably Robbed clearly the two most pivotal errors
in the history of the league, and they were revolving
(26:53):
around dynasties. Then you even had Shaq and Kobe, you know,
which was a dynasty. So I agree with you that
if the Nuggets win and go on to win.
Speaker 2 (27:04):
Right, it's not bad.
Speaker 5 (27:06):
And you know, like I said, there would be really
good points because then you're right, it would be Okay,
An came close is next year the year Now there's
a storyline you've already created, right, he's win or lose
the Timberwolves are going to be a story.
Speaker 1 (27:22):
Going forward, like can they get there? What's the missing piece?
Do they need to add something? Or is this just
about a man developing and and all that. It will
not be Oh my god, that's it and it's all done.
I agree that.
Speaker 5 (27:39):
Said Rob, I do think it still would be better
for the league if Minnesota wins, because Anthony Edwards is
the most exciting player, certainly of these two teams, and
arguably I mean with Jahn Moran out when Ben Yama
is obviously fun to watch and he's coming with his height,
(27:59):
he's just is unique.
Speaker 2 (28:01):
Seeing somebody that big do those things.
Speaker 5 (28:04):
But it's certainly fair to say Anthony Edwards is the
most exciting player in the league.
Speaker 2 (28:08):
Rob.
Speaker 5 (28:09):
People do like the spectacular game, right Jokic. I actually
love watching Yokic play because I just think he's so
smart and he's so skilled, and we've never seen a
big guy like his size do the things he does.
But there is a little element this guy was not
(28:29):
as to me, was not as nearly as fun to
watch as Jokic, But Rob, Tim Duncan there's a little
bit of that in that, you know, he's not a
high flyer. He's not a trash talker. He's not you know,
dunking a lot and all of that stuff. So I
think people like that. They love Michael Jordan, they love
(28:52):
Kobe Bryant, just the excitement that their games bring because
of the high flying ny, the dunks and even this
swag and all of that. So I do think if
Anthony Edwards in the Timberwolves win, it would be.
Speaker 2 (29:09):
Better for the league.
Speaker 5 (29:10):
And then you look, Luca versus Jokic is a great
storyline assuming Dallas wins that series. But Luca versus Anthony
Edwards could I maybe be even better? Do they are
they guarding each other or at least as Anthony Edwards
guarding Luca at times? They're similar positions, they're closer. I
(29:33):
don't know if they're closer in age, but you know
they're they're both younger players than Jokic. That could be
a rivalry. And not to mention, if the Timberwolves get
to the finals, then you got Anthony Edwards and Jason
Tatum presumably, so you.
Speaker 2 (29:48):
Know what I mean.
Speaker 5 (29:48):
Like, I think both are good, but I think Anthony
Edwards would be even better.
Speaker 8 (29:55):
For the league.
Speaker 1 (29:56):
And if you're the Nuggets or Nuggets fans. I was
talking about just they couldn't make any shots. Here's per
NBA dot com, Chris. They tried Game six. The Nugget
shots seven for thirty six, nineteen point four percent from
three in Game six. Here it is thirty one of
their thirty six threes were classified as either open or
wide open, and they made six of those.
Speaker 2 (30:18):
That's incredible. Like they had looks.
Speaker 1 (30:20):
Remember I was saying to you earlier when we're watching,
like they had looks because.
Speaker 5 (30:24):
They doubled the timberworee going downsted and doubled Yokis and
you challenged those other guys to beat you and Robert Hughese.
And one of the reasons I picked the Timberwolves to
win the series was because I felt like Jamal Murray
wasn't one hundred percent.
Speaker 2 (30:38):
With the calf.
Speaker 5 (30:39):
And last night, rob a big storyline was he hurt
his elbow early in the game, he said afterwards, and
we'll get to that later, but he said, you know,
it did bother him a bit, and he shot four
for eighteen as great, and Yoga's just you don't even
have to say he's the best player on the team.
Speaker 2 (30:56):
He's the best player in the world.
Speaker 5 (30:57):
But they need Murray like Lebron needed Kyrie, you know,
like Murray is kind of their closer.
Speaker 1 (31:06):
Yeah, but Yokis the other day in game five had
the forty uh ye And look, I mean the best player.
But I'm not saying that you can't get anything. But
you just can't take four for eighteen. Like he doesn't
have to put up, he doesn't have to make eleven shots.
He doesn't have to be he could just like he
did with the Lakers. He didn't shoot that well, guess Wills, no, no, no,
but he made but he made a big shot, and
(31:27):
that's what you might just need him.
Speaker 2 (31:29):
I count this good game. I don't care what he shot.
Speaker 1 (31:31):
Yeah, but he made You could just make a couple
of big shots and that could.
Speaker 2 (31:35):
Be he is.
Speaker 5 (31:35):
He is critical. They're not champions without Jamal Murray. I
just think that they can get by with one game.
I'm not saying that you can't have that kind of night.
But I'm not saying like just because he's banged up
that they said that with the Lakers.
Speaker 1 (31:50):
You remember that was the whole premise. Oh no, he's
he's banged up now, not a Lakers got a shot.
Speaker 2 (31:56):
Oh, Jamal Murray came out at thirty or whatever it was.
Speaker 5 (32:00):
I need he needs to have a performance like that,
like and the elbow clearly bothered him in Game six
and so if he can't shoot better, I think they
could be in trouble. All right, it's the Odd Couple
of Christ of rob Keep you a live Fox Sports Radio.

It's time for Shekel City.
Speaker 2 (32:38):
All right.
Speaker 1 (32:38):
Here we go a little Shekel City on this Friday.
Maybe we can make a couple of bucks. This, of course,
was posted on social media by Elijah way before we
did this radio show.
Speaker 2 (32:50):
You never miss those pots.
Speaker 1 (32:51):
There you go, Thanks Elijah, Thanks Chris. I mean, Elijah's
doing all his work and you're saying you don't even look.
Speaker 5 (32:57):
Uh.
Speaker 1 (32:58):
I got the Pacers' best bet minus five and a
half tonight in Indianapolis five and a half to force
a game seven, which would be at Madison Square Garden.
All right, Yankees minus one and a half run. They're
hosting the White Sox, who were playing better. Chris, they
were god awful, but they're actually playing much better of late,
(33:19):
like five hundred baseball. The couldn't play as poorly as
they have been, but they're playing better. It's one to
one right now, and I took the Mets minus one
and a half runs. They're in Miami taking all the Marlins,
Mets minus one and a half runs, Yankees minus one
and a half runs, and the Pacers minus five and
a half runs. And you see all the New York
teams here, Nicks, Yankees, Mets. But I'm not a homer.
(33:41):
I did not pick the Knicks to cover that five
and a half, all right. And remember I'm not telling
you who'd have bet on. I'm telling you who I
bet on, all right, Rob.
Speaker 5 (33:52):
Parker, Vince Carter, it was just announced is getting his
jersey retired with the new jersey nets.
Speaker 2 (34:00):
You got issues with that, uh?
Speaker 1 (34:02):
I just I know why they're doing it, and say
figuring out if he's going to the Hall of Fame,
then his jersey, Okay, then then yeah, but I just
I would not. I just don't believe in retiring someone's
number for an organization. This is just me along with
being a great player and all that, Chris, he's probably
(34:25):
got to be linked to some championship or something even Nets. No,
I know, you know, but I'm but I'm just saying,
like to be able to if even if I even
if I doctor J's number retired. Okay, he didn't win
as a New Jersey Net or Brooklyn Net, but in
(34:46):
the Nets organization, That's what I'm saying, Chris, like like
that would be yeah, and it was the Nets. It
was the New York Nets, and and that is good
enough for me.
Speaker 2 (34:54):
So he's the only one to have his jersey retired.
Speaker 1 (34:57):
I just I would you would have to be like
an all great who just never won. I'm not saying
that's the only way, But I'm not into Vince Carter
in three and a half years or forty two All
Star appearances in four and a half years. I just
when I think of Vince Carter and the Nets, it's
a blur and it's not It doesn't reek or smell
or taste like a number of retirement to me.
Speaker 2 (35:19):
Yeah, I'm fine with it.
Speaker 5 (35:22):
I do think most of us will think of Vince
as a Toronto Raptor. That's when he made his two
All NBA teams roped. That's when you know, I mean
he took the league by storm. Not not like dominating
the league, but as far as his style of play,
the excitement he brought. I think he's the best game
dunker of all time and he really solidified NBA basketball
(35:47):
in Toronto.
Speaker 2 (35:49):
So I'm with you in that.
Speaker 5 (35:51):
I don't think the Nets are kind of that team
we think of when we think of Vince Carter. But
I'm fine with them retiring his number. He has some
great years there. He averaged twenty seven points for them,
you know, the first season he was there, then twenty four,
then twenty five, then twenty one, then twenty one again.
Speaker 2 (36:10):
Like the dude was balling.
Speaker 5 (36:12):
And it's the Nets. And I think there's different standards
for different franchises. Right here are the players that have
their jerseys retired for the Nets. Drozen Petrovich, who only
played three seasons there. We know he died in a
car cray, but that's what people.
Speaker 1 (36:29):
And this is no disrespect to him. Chris, if he
had gone on to his career and not died prematurely,
his number wouldn't be retired.
Speaker 5 (36:36):
Well, he was a really good player. I remember him,
but I just I don't think that's definitive. But I
agree that they they did it because of his you know,
the tragic death, and again he was nice when he played.
Speaker 2 (36:50):
I remember him definitely. Yeah, I mean he averaged nineteen points.
Speaker 5 (36:55):
Jason Kidd, who led them the two finals, I think
you would agree.
Speaker 2 (37:00):
Numbers shit, definitely.
Speaker 1 (37:02):
Don't win a champions He's a Hall of Famer and
he did something special and got the team to a championship.
Speaker 5 (37:07):
His best run was with the Nets. I mean he
won the championship with Dallas. But I'm just saying, yeah,
I think you got John Williamson, super jarant. Yeah, that's
just play four seasons. That was just something from Doctor
J and Buck Williams. Come on, I mean that's the
standard now. Obviously Doctor J and Kid are on a
(37:31):
whole nother level. I just, yeah, Viz Carter, when that's
your standard, that those are your jerseys and the rafters.
Speaker 2 (37:39):
Yeah, Viz Carter. I mean, I think Kenya Martin's gonna
be up there and should be.
Speaker 1 (37:43):
I'm just saying like, there's gotta be like and and
then here's the flip side of that. Chris is like
Bernie Williams and Joge Posada won four I know, I'm
just saying in that that they won four championships, right,
and they're not getting it like like it just said,
it speaks volumes as to what the threshold is for
different organizations. But I'm just saying I would rather error
(38:06):
on you being an all time great than just well
we're an also ran organizations. So let's put everybody in.
Speaker 5 (38:14):
Well, he is a Hall of Famer, though, how many
Hall of famers have they had played there?
Speaker 1 (38:18):
I got it, I got I mean, I guess they're
gonna use that. Then they should have put him in
the year that he was put in the Hall of Fame.
Speaker 5 (38:25):
Well it was recently, yeah, very recently. But yeah, so
let me ask you this. Should he have a statue
in Toronto? No, they didn't win anything, Kawhi, No, both.
Speaker 2 (38:38):
Of them keep it locked. A couple
