Speaker 2 (01:52):
Actually most people thought nobody thought they were getting that.
Speaker 4 (01:55):
Well, no their thought and hope. No, I'm just saying,
but nobody was thinking that. Ninety nine percent of people thought, Oh,
I mean the spread was ten and a half, notine
and a half.
Speaker 2 (02:04):
Ten and a half. That ain't looking for a closed game,
you know what.
Speaker 1 (02:07):
You know what I'm saying, I'm saying we you I
thought they were gonna lose by twelve. I thought it
something like that.
Speaker 2 (02:12):
But Daggie, we got a good game. Is what I'm saying.
Speaker 1 (02:14):
Is because okay, see it just blows people away and
you're like, not think, dearie.

my due Lingo.
Speaker 4 (02:42):
You shortly gonna let you back in the country. I
just want to be careful now you leave the country
now too long. You're right, you might not be back.
They might think you're from dominic Nigeria. I think I'm
no Dominican to something Honduras. I'm just saying, that's funny.
I better get back, dang it. Let me go check
me my past or make sure everything is everything. I'll
be like, we don't care why you're Okay, you're born here, Well,
(03:04):
we don't. We're not letting him in.
Speaker 2 (03:07):
Unbelievable.
Speaker 4 (03:07):
All right, let's welcome in the odd couple crew because
we wouldn't be able to do this farm radio program
without him. Rob g is our producer, Iowa Sam is

Speaker 2 (03:21):
Who will be in shortly. I know the sign's out,
so you know, buns are out of there, suns out,
buns out. That's why you know. Never know him. Steve
de Seger is at the anchor desk, and.
Speaker 4 (03:33):
Elijah is our social media Google who Elijah never heard
of him?
Speaker 3 (03:39):
Yeah?
Speaker 4 (03:40):
Him yes, uh, but yeah, actually you heard of him
Elijah man working overtime.
Speaker 2 (03:48):
Let that man be with his family.
Speaker 4 (03:50):
Rob Rob g right away, and Kelvin's always like, why
are you pray?
Speaker 2 (03:55):
Were you shock last night or not?
Speaker 6 (03:58):
When I shocked that you had a graphic made, yes,
I was like Rob was.
Speaker 2 (04:03):
Right again him, I'm right about what he had the
plus ten and a half. We're gonna make a whole
griff out of that.
Speaker 4 (04:07):
So I also said about game one, did not because
I brought up the six six ers and.
Speaker 2 (04:11):
We didn't say they were gonna win. He didn't. I
did too. Now you know, I'll keep it the buck
with you.
Speaker 1 (04:18):
You did not say they're gonna win, but you did
say you know they got a chance, and you did.
You did that, but you didn't say they're going You
didn't say it with your chest. I did too, but
Elijah had to say it with his chest awaken, Gisa,
just because you.
Speaker 2 (04:28):
Were like, oh no, they're still gonna win by twelve.
Speaker 4 (04:31):
I did look like I did not buy into that
because I got picked them in six You didn't pick them.
Said okay, so they gotta win some games. I'm saying
they're winning four four.
Speaker 2 (04:40):
Games, right.
Speaker 4 (04:41):
So, so no act like I'm saying that I didn't
think they were gonna win.
Speaker 2 (04:44):
What I'm saying, they.
Speaker 1 (04:45):
Don't win game one, I don't. I don't know how
they gonna win in six games. What I'm saying is
leave Elijah Alane.
Speaker 2 (04:51):
No, he's all right, Elijah's hey. Then what I needed?
I forgot the ten and a half? What do you
do it?
Speaker 4 (04:58):
Come on?
Speaker 2 (04:59):
Okay about get it up in a second.
Speaker 4 (05:01):
Well, anyway, let's go here and uh let's start with
the monster win by Indiana.
Speaker 2 (05:08):
And I don't know what else to say.
Speaker 4 (05:10):
They didn't lead the game until that last basket, which
is incredible, and we talked about it earlier. The one
thing we did talk about was all those first first
half turnovers weren't turned into points and we're and they
should have been down way bigger than they were. They're
down at twelve at the half, and we looked at
that and I was like, I don't know if that
(05:32):
really with that many turnovers, should it have been at
that point? But I will say this, I am I
want to rename the Indiana Pacers.
Speaker 2 (05:43):
Okay, all right, and I got a new name for them.
Are you ready? Come on? Sam? Let's play it.
Speaker 4 (05:51):
I'm going back to Wendiana Windyana here I come.
Speaker 2 (05:57):
Okay, Wendyana Pacers. I like that.
Speaker 4 (06:02):
We gotta call them the Windy Outa Pacers because that's
all they do. All they do is win when, when when,
and when when they aren't supposed to. And you know
what that brings me to, Calvin that the Indiana Pacers,
and you just gotta be honest with yourself. They are
(06:23):
on a destiny ride to be NBA champ.
Speaker 2 (06:27):
This is a destiny thing. I see it. I feel
that we can no longer ignore it.
Speaker 4 (06:33):
I know a lot of people picked, oh whatever, it
was a nice run by the Pacers. Last night was
a perfect example. I mean rob G had him getting swept.
So rob G, you know on Twitter, was assaulting today,
so I had to put him in his place. But
my point is for real, and you know I picked
him in six. But I feel even better after that win.
(06:56):
They can only play better. They won't have twenty turns
away was in the first half, do you know what
I mean? Like, seriously, their clunker was in Game one
on the road in Oklahoma City and they won.
Speaker 2 (07:11):
This is so clear to me.
Speaker 4 (07:15):
Nobody go look at the odds at one point, rob Ge,
what was it one in seventy five million that they
won one and seventy five million that they won the
game that they won. You know, it almost impossible. And
I'm saying to you, we gotta look at this team
and there are teams of destiny. And that doesn't mean okay,
(07:38):
see or whatever. They have nice run and don't compare
this to oh, well, Denver won game one in the
same fashion and they bounce back.
Speaker 2 (07:45):
No, no, no no. And the other thing is pay attention.
Speaker 4 (07:52):
When the Celtics lost Game one, what everybody say, Oh,
they'll come back, just one game, they'll bounce back.
Speaker 2 (07:58):
They lost Game two at home against the Knicks.
Speaker 4 (08:01):
When the Knicks lost game won in the same fashion,
when they gave it up at the end fourteen points,
two minutes and thirty eight seconds. Okay, the Knicks will
get it together. They'll win game two. No, they did
not win game two. They fell behind two. I'm convinced
that the Windiana Pacers will win Game two at OKC.
Speaker 2 (08:25):
And then this will be a six game series, kind
of like it was with the Knicks.
Speaker 4 (08:28):
I do believe that because they didn't play their best
game and they got a w and I was ultimately
convinced before the series that they were gonna win it
in six games, And now I'm convinced this is a Destiny.
This is where they are supposed to be, because you
(08:48):
can't explain when a team plays like this.
Speaker 1 (08:51):
So I get exactly what you mean. We've all watched
this postseason. It's been a very fun ride. They've had
some amazing historic comebacks. They keep beating the odds. But
here's where I would say I don't agree with the
team of Destiny, and that you could argue it's the
Oklahoma City Thunder. If you look at what the Oklahoma
City and Thunder have done over the last ten years.
(09:13):
Right that we know they get there some years ago.
They get there with obviously the MVPs, if you will,
James Harden Russell Westbrook KD. They do that, They had
a chance to do a three to one up on
the Warriors, they end up losing. That they've kind of
been going through the gault. Then they reconstructure, refigure this
thing out, and now here they are.
Speaker 2 (09:31):
So a couple of years ago they get forty wins.
Speaker 1 (09:33):
Then last year they get fifty seven wins and they
get bounced, and then this year they get sixty eight
them franchise record SGA last year runner up for the MVP,
this year gets the MVP.
Speaker 2 (09:45):
They get all the way to the finals.
Speaker 1 (09:46):
They have all types of records wherever you want to
go with the talk about the point differential, which is insane.
Right now at twelve point nine per game, they have
now the friend the record for sixty one wins between
the regular and postseason by double digits, which is absolutely crazy.
Speaker 2 (10:02):
And you brought it up, and I'm gonna say it.
They're four and oh.
Speaker 1 (10:06):
When they come off of losses this postseason, and they
the average margin of victory is twenty points. So to me,
I totally get what you meant. As far as it's
been fun watching this Pacer team, and they have been
exciting in him. And again we've all raised our hand
and said we slept on you. You heard Scott Van Pelt
say it to Tyre's Halliburn face, My bad dog, I
was late to the party. You and I've admitted no
(10:29):
one really talked about them, but you could say the
same thing for the Thunder. This has been coming from
the Kadie Westbrook experiment to the then hardened part of
the team to the losing in the finals.
Speaker 2 (10:40):
They're trying to figure this out.
Speaker 1 (10:41):
To the Westbrook MVP years, this has been a long
time coming to me, and to me now it looks
as if this is their season of destiny. And again
SGA loses MVP last year, gets it. This year they
get knocked out early.
Speaker 4 (10:55):
They make it back to me, that's not a destiny,
Like seriously, like you talking about broken all that five
eight years ago. I don't know how that factors into
this team, like as a destiny.
Speaker 1 (11:07):
Organized but not a team of destiny. The last couple
of letters death stenned, meaning they were final to win.
This is making sense on the trajectory of winning. This
is exactly where they're supposed to be to win. So
I get what you mean. This has been a magical
This thegic moment in the.
Speaker 4 (11:27):
In the NBA, though we've also seen you know that
Detroit Pistons lost to the Celtics before they won their
two championships. We saw other teams that got it, got there,
stumbled in the finals, and then they finally break through.
So this could be you might be right in some time,
but they might have to wait a year because the
(11:47):
the the Windiana Pacers are truly when you talk about
a team of destiny, they weren't supposed to beat the
box that that unbelievable come back.
Speaker 1 (11:55):
Remember we sat here, we're almost that we almost look
ahead for about thirty seconds. We couldn't what they were
up by seven. Like we looked and we couldn't believe
what was going on. Then we were We were here
when they came back.
Speaker 2 (12:10):
So we seen them all. We saw the calves, we.
Speaker 1 (12:14):
Saw we saw the knicks every time we turned wait
wait what so but but here's my only thing too.
This has been great, by the way, and I told
Rob g this. The NBA has to be so ecstatic
because that first half you almost thought it was like,
oh shoot, here we go another blowout, Here we go again,
and then you ultimately got what we all wanted. Close
(12:36):
game coming down the wire and Indiana would hit pretty
much a buzzer beater. So the NBA has to be
happy that people go, maybe this is gonna be more
of a series than a thought, Maybe this is gonna
be competitive, maybe people will continue to tune in. So
they definitely looked out last point. For me, Rob, I
just am having a hard time going against the numbers
because all the numbers favor the thunder when you're talking defensively.
Speaker 2 (12:59):
But that's where destiny comes in. The numbers don't matter.
Speaker 4 (13:02):
And last night was the perfect example in that all
the numbers were in favor of you know, when you
turn the ball over that much and you know that,
and you.
Speaker 1 (13:12):
Don't and you don't lead the entire game seven eighty
nine points seven seconds, seven.
Speaker 4 (13:22):
Like until there was point three, Like that's that's incredible.
And so that's the part where I bring up the
destiny because.
Speaker 2 (13:30):
Numbers thunder destined or destiny for the Pacer.
Speaker 4 (13:35):
Here we go eight seven, seven ninety nine on Fox
eight seven, seven, nine nine six sixty three sixty nine.
Speaker 2 (13:42):
Are the pissed?
Speaker 4 (13:42):
Are the Pacers a team of destiny? Will they end
this charm postseason with the NBA title? We'll continue that
conversation next with you. It is the Odd Couple on

Speaker 2 (14:02):
You'll sign that. In the good old us of a from.

Speaker 1 (15:38):
Fox Sports Radio is The Odd Couple, Rob Parker, Kelvin
Washington on a fucky flashback Friday.
Speaker 2 (15:44):
That's right, feeling good? Why would you mess up to
godfather soul with that?
Speaker 1 (15:50):

It is the way tire buying should be. All right,
we're having a conversation. Are the Pacers a team of destiny?
I say it's been a fun ride, but I still
(16:11):
think it's a thunder? Who are destined? Rob says, no, Hey,
you know how the Windiana Pacers are getting it done?
Speaker 2 (16:18):
Who we got? And we one to know? Wh Indiana Pacer?
That's you ever combined? Seven? So how about that? No, Alex,
I gotta sing that doing? We sing the song?
Speaker 4 (16:29):
And I say, that's funny. Well, Dion in Texas, you're
on the couple of Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 2 (16:35):
What's up? Don?
Speaker 7 (16:36):
We'll have to Friday? Y'all have it too much fun?
But guess what, guys, we got us a series even
though it's only one. Nothing too soon to tell. Who's
with the outcomes going to be. I think it's too
soon to tales, so I can't put any in the
driver's seat just yet. Because Oklahoma City has been the
best team all year in hims as been the second best,
but they've been balling in the playoffs but got three
quick points. What is wrong with these coaches? Why do
(16:59):
they don't smart themselves? Do the obvious? Why did you
take Harkeerstein out the starting lineup?
Speaker 2 (17:04):
Hello, we talked about it yesterday. Why for the game?
Speaker 1 (17:09):
What?
Speaker 2 (17:09):
Why are you changing your lineup? Right?
Speaker 7 (17:12):
Thank you? So you're changing line up now You've got
guys playing a totally different role at the start of
the game. So you took your whole team out of
the Uh you know you probably took them out of
a little bit of rhythm. Okay, they did. They played great.
No team deserved to lose last night. That's how great
of a game it was.
Speaker 2 (17:26):
Yeh second half or shooting.
Speaker 7 (17:27):
Out of absolutely Then, secondly, I knew they were in
trouble when they had twenty turnovers in the first half
and did not be up at least twenty points.
Speaker 2 (17:35):
We talked about that.
Speaker 7 (17:36):
You hurt half those turnovers. You're up twenty and last
and not at least get the ball out of Halliburton.
Hand Hey that rubb Hey, you need to change that
to Halliburton. Get that off, Curry, Curry.
Speaker 4 (17:47):
No, I got we got so for Holly, no doubt.
Thanks de I appreciate it. John in Boston, you're on
the couple of Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 2 (17:56):
What's up?
Speaker 8 (17:56):
John Thing Fellas. Always enjoyed listening to you, Fellas.
Speaker 2 (18:00):
Thank you appreciate that John anytime.
Speaker 8 (18:04):
First of all, I'm going to kind of piggyback on
both of things that you said. First of all, I
think you're one hundred percent right. This feels like a
team of destiny, kind of like the sixty nine Mets
of the two thousand and one Patriots or dare I
say miracle on ice. It just seems like everything bounces
their way. They somehow find a way to win. Their
pop Low coach, and it just seems like they find
ways to win. And Kelvin, you mentioned that seventy five
(18:27):
percent of Oklahoma City wins this year or have been
by double digits. The problem is they don't play so
well in close games. If you could just keep it
close and get it down the stretch. They don't seem
really well prepared for that because they just don't play.
Speaker 7 (18:40):
A lot of time.
Speaker 4 (18:41):
John, That's a great point, because those moments come and
people that shorts term brown, you know what I mean,
in those big spots.
Speaker 1 (18:49):
I was gond we have, you know, a couple of
hours job some stuff. Thank you, John, That's gonna be
one of my points at our next hour. But yep,
you when you ain't been in it, just unfamiliar territory
and they blow everybody out.
Speaker 2 (18:58):
They're like, what you mean is close to live?
Speaker 4 (19:00):
Only a four pedro in Seattle. You're on the eyd
couple of Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 2 (19:04):
What's up? Pedro?
Speaker 9 (19:06):
Meometers?
Speaker 1 (19:08):
God?
Speaker 7 (19:08):
Well, well be in tecky seient Man.
Speaker 9 (19:12):
I've been in Seattle since the seventies and I remember
the Superstonics and Gus Williams and Marty so yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah,
Well they were amazing. And that's what we're looking at now.
We're looking at a new version of just surprise, enjoying
(19:33):
this ride. Don't try to reinvent the wheels. Let these
boys play. I have never even seen these guys and
good they are good play, no doubt.
Speaker 1 (19:48):
Nobody knows them. That's the fun part about are the
thunder too. This is like a lot of like, oh shoot,
I didn't know the Pacer team we've admitted are bad.
Speaker 4 (19:55):
Andre in Massachusetts. You're on the eye couple of Fox
Sports Radio. What's up, Dreight, How you doing?
Speaker 10 (20:01):
Thanks taking the call, Happy Friday. Yes, I do see
a momentum. I have no issue with the Indiana Pacers.
I had them winning it in seven. But I do
think this series is going a distance because Oklahoma City,
for all talking about the lineup change they had the
Pacers under reps, Indiana had a difficult time playing against
actual wing defenders. They want to run my man Tom
(20:22):
Thibodeau out of New York, you know, in terms of
the loss of the Pacers, but they don't want to
give him the players to execute his system. Okay, Oklahoma
City has the young lions to get up and to
stick with Indiana's guards to make it difficult for them.
Speaker 11 (20:35):
Nonetheless, they stayed together.
Speaker 10 (20:37):
You got to give credit to Rick Carlisle in terms
of having guys ready when.
Speaker 11 (20:40):
The time is necessary.
Speaker 10 (20:41):
Obie Tompin Vict three, Nie Smith Vic three. So rob
back to your point. When you see it team doing
it again and again and again and again reminds me
a little bit of the Boston Red Sox. They were
trying to break the curse. I mean, it's not that
for Indiana, not you know, that long of a streak.
But everybody's just they're just all together and people I
think overestimated Okac who's still young, and it was still young.
You know, India had a little bit more experience. I
(21:03):
have them winning at step.
Speaker 2 (21:04):
They're taking a call, appreciate it.
Speaker 4 (21:06):
Let's squeeze into Kevin and Culver City. You're in the
couple of Fox Sports Radio. What's up, cav got it.
Speaker 2 (21:12):
Good all the time.
Speaker 11 (21:14):
Hey, I'm gonna negotiate Rob's catalog so you know, talk
about justin Timberlake can say this. So if I gotta
get these Rob Parker hits, because he's got a catalog
with his hits.
Speaker 7 (21:23):
Yeah, let's Godana Belichick your Belichick song, that's the top five.
Speaker 9 (21:29):
One right there.
Speaker 11 (21:32):
Look, I gotta tell you, I gotta help out some
of the calls, the fire callers. The reason Harvenstein wasn't
in the lineup is because Carlisle is making the thunder dictate.
Speaker 7 (21:41):
He's dictating to them how he wants them to coach.
Speaker 11 (21:43):
Because they're Bigs pulled Oklahoma City Thunders bigs out to
the perimeter. You got Siakam topping turn. They run their
bigs on the perimeter.
Speaker 9 (21:52):
They tired them out of all games.
Speaker 11 (21:53):
That's why the fourth quarter they couldn't do anything because
they chased the three corner shooters all over the court.
And Andrew Nimhard is the ex actor in this in
this series because I remember when Lebron James was barking
at Stephan Curry, when I saw Nedmark.
Speaker 9 (22:05):
Push Shy like that, Shy kind of pushed him back.
Speaker 11 (22:08):
That's the first time I saw a player.
Speaker 7 (22:09):
Self like, Yo, we're here.
Speaker 11 (22:11):
We outside, And that's what the patience blueprint is all about.
Speaker 7 (22:14):
We outside.
Speaker 11 (22:16):
They beat three great coaches, Doc Rivers, Atkinson and Tobago,
and they don't fear anybody.
Speaker 7 (22:20):
They just want to go win.
Speaker 11 (22:21):
That's what I love about Halliburn. This is a team
of destiny and it's Windiana team.
Speaker 7 (22:25):
They just got that sweat to him.
Speaker 11 (22:26):
They're hot.
Speaker 2 (22:27):
Yeah, Hey, hey Kevin, I told him, they go all
the way.
Speaker 1 (22:30):
Yeah, I told rob g I said, Nemar, I know
we're going to talk about Halliburton all, you know, obviously
until the until game two. But I told him, I said,
nim Har really was the MVP of that game as
far as just keeping them innute, getting them that energy,
that effort them. Hart was definitely. He was like the
catalyt Halliburn. Halliburton. He's the closing fourteen dude. He had
(22:50):
twelve before that shot and you told me twelve and
six from him, and they win to take it every
day it sticks pt you know, he ends up making
it fourteen and six with the winner.
Speaker 2 (22:58):
All Right, we had a whole lot.
Speaker 1 (23:00):
I want to get to h including some NBA action
on a team that the Pacers beat, some conversations happening
with them. We'll tell you that in just a minute.
Right now, Steve the segues, What's training body?
Speaker 3 (23:09):

Speaker 4 (23:38):
Dare we love hear from when I started in radio
and have my own show in Detroit in nineteen ninety four,
we should tell people to facts in.
Speaker 2 (23:44):
I mean just think about that. Well, I did people
use that all yesterday? You just had to bring up
facts again. Do you mind if I ask what are
they fact? Exactly?
Speaker 7 (23:53):
Yeah?
Speaker 2 (23:53):
They were facts of like questions or comments or whatever.
Speaker 1 (23:57):
It was comments, all right, yes, comment mixed with compliments,
any longing whatever. Have a movie, I mean a TV
show and like HBO back in the ninety was called
silks talkers. Yes, yeah, I know how you got onely
throwing it back. I'm just saying, see, this is what
happens when you get the suns out. You don't know
(24:17):
that sons out? Yeah, buns out.
Speaker 2 (24:20):
I could fact that to you, Ron. Yeah all right.
Speaker 1 (24:23):
So there are some other stories, believe it or not,
other than just uh Indiana and the thunder, even though
it was shocking. Got admit that, dude, that was amazing
And we will get into that just a little bit
as we got some more numbers that have come out,
some more information about the game.
Speaker 4 (24:37):
I mean, it was saying that Adam Silver was dancing
in the streets last night. I'm not so sure now,
but we'll get.
Speaker 2 (24:42):
To that dancing.
Speaker 1 (24:43):
You know how what people never I can't say that,
all right, Tom Tipiteau fire in New York, we know that.
But then the conversation becomes rob well, why well, who
who has something to do with it? It was it
just a merit that he didn't overcome, He didn't, you know,
didn't get him to the finals? Was it something or sinister?
Was it just he wore out as welcome? Was it
the way he grinds the players? All that has come out,
(25:04):
and now there are some reports that maybe that cat
may have had something to do with it. Or it
gets a little weird because Leon Rose, it's his agent,
but he's also former agent of other those players, and
it gets really mixed up because you start to get
some personal things in there because one of the assistant
coaches is Rick Brunson, who is Jalen Brunson's dad, who
(25:27):
was Who's so you get why Jalen Brunson will come
out and say hey, I want TIBs.
Speaker 2 (25:34):
I love Tis. It's not about TIBs.
Speaker 1 (25:36):
It's our guy because he grew up knowing Tibbs obviously
played for TIBs.
Speaker 2 (25:40):
His dad is his guy.
Speaker 1 (25:41):
His dad is now on the staff with Tims. So
you can see the family connection to family dynamic there.
But on the flip side, Karl Anthony Towns, we heard
the reports say he was called out multiple times during
this postseason by the team, especially in his last series
where he was called out for his defensive efforts.
Speaker 2 (25:56):
They had to have team players.
Speaker 1 (25:57):
Only meetings multiple times, and Carl Anthony Towns, by the way,
had been benched in critical moments critical games by TIBs,
didn't play big minutes in the fourth quarter of a.
Speaker 2 (26:09):
Time or two. So it just gets a little weird
on why that guy's out of there.
Speaker 1 (26:13):
I'm not buying it though, and again it could simply
be the merit, but it's kind of weird that Again,
I think in playoff wins, most the furthest you've gotten
in twenty five years.
Speaker 2 (26:24):
It doesn't matter.
Speaker 4 (26:25):
I just think it's easy to want to point the
finger at cat or pointed out a player because it
doesn't make sense to me if Jalen Brunson has some cachet, right,
he was on the podium, He's the one saying yes,
his dad's on Tom Thibodeau's coaching staff. Like there's all
(26:46):
this stuff. Leon Rose used to be the TIBs agent agent,
Like you know, all right, he might be Cat's agent,
but he was also Tom's agent, you know what I mean.
So I'm not buying that. I still deep down and
I'm not saying that. There's some criticism of tips, you
know in the exit interviews. You know, it's important. People
want to know what's going on. Come on, put it
all on the table, tell me what you know, your
(27:07):
thoughts and whatnot. But the bottom line remains, after they
beat the Celtics, that franchise was starving to go to
the NBA Finals.
Speaker 2 (27:17):
I mean, really, twenty five years.
Speaker 4 (27:22):
Would have had a chance to win a championship for
the first time since nineteen seventy three. Like there's a
lot of stuff there, and they felt like they lose
the first game, then you would bounce back win game two.
You know, No, they lose that game and then he
doesn't play the bench until he almost was forced to.
Speaker 2 (27:42):
It was too late. When he started playing the bench.
It was too late. Series was over, and I'm just
saying a lot of that.
Speaker 4 (27:49):
Stuff piled up and people were like, I think the
organization was like, we were supposed to go to the finals.
Speaker 2 (27:55):
He didn't get it done, and we're not. We're not
gonna accept this.
Speaker 1 (27:58):
So that last part, just right, that last point for
you is a more minor point for me. I do think,
you know, you're like, hey, you kind of got out
coached by Rick Carlisle and and now we're not going
to find it. I do think that maybe a smaller part.
I think the bigger parts for me are a couple
of things. One, we didn't see many adjustments from him
throughout the postseason, including that playoff series against the Pistons.
Speaker 2 (28:20):
There wasn't.
Speaker 1 (28:20):
It was just they just you didn't feel We're like, Okay,
you're the better team, we're the more experiencing, we should
dominate them.
Speaker 4 (28:25):
It was always just But I don't I don't like,
I don't think they're going back to the po But
this is what I'm saying.
Speaker 1 (28:30):
I think it's so multiple. I think it's a multitude
of things. I go back to mckal bridges. When you
have players coming out who is the literal iron man
of the NBA. He's played more minutes than anybody's never
missed a game, and he himself comes out and say, Yo,
we need to break you. Gotta stop playing this so much.
You gotta He goes public with this, like public, that's
(28:51):
kind of that's a huge indictment from a guy who's
an iron man who normally wouldn't say things like that.
And then you have the cat issues not playing them.
He's playing well at times, never seen. They got a
good jail with that. I think that does matter. And
I think Leon Rose being an agent does matter. Not
saying it's the final nail in the coffton, but I
think there's a bunch of toppings on that pizza where
(29:11):
you can add this, at this, at this, and then
finally lose.
Speaker 2 (29:14):
He was he was agent for both part people involved, right.
Speaker 1 (29:17):
But we know what ultimately matters is players. Unless you
have a Phil Jackson type of guy, righty, but if Rick, but.
Speaker 4 (29:24):
If Jalen Brunton is your guy, right Seriously, who was
there before kat who got the thing going before they
brought him along?
Speaker 2 (29:32):
And his dad is on Tipodeau stet. It just doesn't make.
That's what it doesn't make. Why those other pieces matter
to me?
Speaker 1 (29:38):
If you got people going public, if you haven't spouts
with cat who we got and we're not getting rid
of this is just our guy now, and you obviously
didn't get it done against the Celtics. I think all
those things weigh, and now you get a position where
they're all right, we have enough cache, enough reasoning to
let him go. Because if you're his agent, if you're Tibbs,
you're saying, well, why would you let him go? Eleven
(29:59):
playoff wins more than anybody. You didn't get to where
you wanted to go. I mean, if I'm his agent,
I'm also saying, there's this guy Kelvin Washington who keeps
screaming they overachieved. And I know his co host Rod
Parker a degree, but not a single human being on
earth thought the Knicks were gonna win the playoff I
mean get to the States.
Speaker 2 (30:19):
Yes, they did. Once they beat the Celtics.
Speaker 4 (30:21):
There was a ton of people, including the Knicks front
office and ownership. That's what I'm trying to say, that
the expectations changed and when he didn't deliver.
Speaker 1 (30:30):
We've seen it. I've seen it before. That's you know
what they did see it before. They underestimated the Pacers,
the same Pacers that demolished the Cavaliers who demolished the Knicks. No,
but they lost two homebody lost two home games.
Speaker 4 (30:45):
The Knicks lost two home games to start the chance
they started lost two. We're the adjustments. After you blow
game one. Now see if they win game two, then
you can make an argument. And the series went seven
in Indiana.
Speaker 2 (30:58):
Beat you. You lost your first two home book, Rob.
Speaker 1 (31:01):
This whole postseason has been kookie, where teams keep losing
at home, keep teams that they're supposed to win don't.
We've seen more twenty point comebacks than we ever seen.
This entire playoffs has been weird. Losing at home, winning
on the road.
Speaker 2 (31:13):
This is none of this is. None of this has
made since shock.
Speaker 4 (31:17):
He got fired, and I told you that the day
before he got fired. I'm not I wasn't surprised at all.
Speaker 2 (31:22):
All, Right.
Speaker 1 (31:23):
I think James Dolan has something to do with this,
as he always does. I think he's playing with his
band right now. I think he's playing with his band
right now, and hopefully they do something right for the
first time in their life because they bet not. They
finally have some stability in the foundation. They better not
go backwards. Rob, all right, we got a shekel city
on the way. See what Rob did on that? It
is The Odd Couple. Rob Parker covered Washington a funky
(31:44):
flashback Friday Stick with your Boys, Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 3 (31:47):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Odd Couple
with Rob Parker and kelvin Washington weekdays at seven pm
Eastern four pm Pacific on Fox Sports Radio and the
iHeartRadio app.
Speaker 4 (32:04):
Classic Oh Oh Jazz Chishlm just went yard three home run.
Speaker 1 (32:12):
Cut the music for me, Alex Hi Jash Chisholm. So wow,
you're pretty good at baseball. Oh that's Chishom. I thought
you said, Chrishom. My bad, Chris, about you talking about
sitting there is mustache and you ain't want to ask
Hi about it? Jazz chism My bad, My bad. I
got a little over jealous about zealous, my short. I'm
sorry still mad at you. You looking at his mustage
(32:33):
the whole time. You didn't bring it up. Well, I
was so close to him it was touching me. Did
you at least get this thing off of me? I
cover Robert Kelvin on the fucking flashback fro a good
saturll life setting like that on. It's like touching you
while you keep got get like, you know, wipe it
off a little, a little squeeze or something like that.
All right, man, and we're getting ready to get to
(32:53):
the play to day, But first we got to do
Shekel City.
Speaker 3 (32:56):
Welcome, Shekel City, own base for Rob Parkers Daily Dicks
against the spread? How'd you do?
Speaker 2 (33:08):
Two and one? Okay, all right? I hit it so
good today? Oh boys, thanks Tiger. Yeah, obviously that big
win with Indiana and whatnot. So two and one, here
we go.
Speaker 4 (33:20):
My total one fifty two and one forty nine three
games over tonight, I got the Yankees minus one and
a half. They're already up three nothing against the Red Sox.
Of course this was posted earlier on social media. I
got the Cubs plus one and a half. They were
in Detroit taking on the Tigers. That game's on Apple TV.
That's why we don't have it Apple because I.
Speaker 1 (33:42):
Tried to get into streaming stuff and I get it,
but it's so inconvenient at times.
Speaker 4 (33:46):
Yeah, I mean, and then I got the Diamondbacks minus
one and a half. They're in Cincinnati taking on the
reds so the Diamondbacks minus one and a half, Cubs
plus one and a half, and the Yankees minus one.
Speaker 2 (33:58):
And a half. They just they just went yard. Yeah,
it's five.
Speaker 4 (34:04):
Nothing Yankees against the Red Sox first inner. Uh And remember,
I'm not telling you who to bet on. I'm telling
you who I bet on. How's Walker Bidlem doing. I
haven't really kept up with he's doing all right.
Speaker 2 (34:15):
All right, but not tonight? Five runs or how many outs?
Speaker 3 (34:18):
There?
Speaker 2 (34:18):
They got? One out?
Speaker 1 (34:19):
One?
Speaker 2 (34:19):
Two outs?
Speaker 1 (34:20):
Yeah, already all right, we got the NBA team got
real quick play of the day. It's top of your
Tyreck Player of the day.
Speaker 2 (34:27):
Caliburton has it with three driving with two pulling up
head hitting with three tenths of a second to go.
How many more times can this team do that? What
the helly? What the tyre's Halliburton is going on? Right here?
Speaker 1 (34:46):
That is your Tiger Tire rec play other day right
there and tire Rack. For over forty years, tire Reck
has been helping customers find the right tires for how,
what and where they drive. Ship Fast and Free back
by free Road has the protection with convenient installation options
like more tire installation.
Speaker 2 (35:01):
It is tire rack dot com. It is the way
tire binds should be.
Speaker 4 (35:04):
Hey, rob G, do we have a news because a
lot of people thought, oh, it was a great game.
So the NBA was looking at its chops that the
numbers is gonna be through the roof because we had
a great game to watch.
Speaker 2 (35:15):
Mark Stot don't care, it's Marks don Let's get him
on the line. Get the starn line, guys.
Speaker 6 (35:20):
It was the first time in eight years that game
one of the NBA Finals was decided by two points.
Speaker 2 (35:24):
Or less, so that's bit.
Speaker 6 (35:25):
It was a big game. It was a good game.
It was exciting. We had the game winner there at
the end. You're gonna play that in NBA Finals videos
and DVDs, Blu rays whatever for years to come. Only
problem is not a lot of people saw it, okay.
According to Sports Media, watch game one of pasers, Thunder
averaged the four point seven rating and eight point nine
to one million viewers in ABC, making it the lowest
(35:48):
rated and least watch Finals opener since they started tracking
this thing in nineteen eighty eight, of course, excluding the
two COVID years, which were totally thrown off.
Speaker 2 (35:58):
Right, How shocked are you? How bad it is? We
knew it was gonna be bad, and you know there's
a story.
Speaker 4 (36:05):
Or dang how bad Barrett Media where or quotes from
last night where Adam Silver saying, I don't know why
everybody's talking about ratings, like like you know about this
ratings with this league? Yes, yes, I hate to break
it to you because it is nude. Baseball has been
beat up forever about TV Wade, stop it.
Speaker 1 (36:25):
Ratings aren't the end, doggy because somebody's paying you billions.
I get it, But they matter, right, you.
Speaker 2 (36:30):
Know because if they were good, the NBA would be
out here.
Speaker 4 (36:34):
If there was the highest rating, oh my god, they would.
Speaker 2 (36:38):
Say, see small market doesn't matter.
Speaker 4 (36:41):
Looking at the ratings. You would be going around like crazy.
You can't have it both ways. It's like looks in
a relationship. It ain't everything. But if she fine, what
you're gonna be doing? Hey, you know I got to
see my new girl. Dad, that's me right there, that's
your boy right there. Let me see your picture of
real we see it. I'm doing out here speaking of
what you still have a screenshot of my wife and
your phone? No, no, I did the lete Okay, make sure.
Speaker 2 (37:00):
Shocked. They're that bad.
Speaker 1 (37:02):
But here, if I had to find an Adam silver lining,
it would be literally the fact that Tyres Halliburn hit
that shot.
Speaker 2 (37:10):
That would be the line, because it doesn't matter how
many people can't.
Speaker 1 (37:15):
I know the first game is over, but I'm saying
how many people went, oh shoot, wait, dang, they actually won.
Speaker 2 (37:21):
I had, I had the thunder.
Speaker 4 (37:22):
Here's why I don't believe it's gonna matter. And I
hear we're just saying that you got some curiosity now right,
it's a game, he's But it's the small markets and
people like you can't act like it doesn't matter because
the the proof positive is the San Antonio Spurs, who
are a fine organization with star players, and people still
(37:44):
didn't watch, so it doesn't matter like what the series,
if it was closed or whatever was going on. It's
still a small market. And people talk about the NBA
not being regional. It is because people in New York
who when the Knicks got knocked out, they're interesting. I'm done,
Celtic fans, I'm done. I mean, you go on Laker fans,
Rob g. If it wasn't for work, you'd be like
(38:05):
the Lakers are out. Am I am I really all
into this, Like like I don't think I think a
lot of fans tune out when their teams get out
get knocked out.
Speaker 1 (38:14):
I just I still go back to the old adage
of casual fans need stars. Most people will just go, oh, man,
the Finals, Oh the Warriors. I'm Tim Duncan was a story.
Won five out of six champions. Tim Duncan was the
big fundamental. He was a star first basketball fans, that
was it, you know what I mean, Like he was
an amazing thing.
Speaker 2 (38:36):
So often they say people like winners. I'm just saying nets.
Speaker 4 (38:42):
The Nets had Jason Kidd and had good players. They
couldn't draw anything that was that not a fun team,
rob g. The Nets, the New Jersey Nets back at
that time was the place. It was a fun watch.
Jason Kidd, a Hall of Fame, all that stuff.
Speaker 2 (38:57):
Right.
Speaker 1 (38:58):
The issue, right, I'm telling you, I know, disagree the
market size. Never disagree with market side.
Speaker 2 (39:02):
I mean, if you have New York and LA and
something's last year.
Speaker 1 (39:06):
In the world, just that's automatic. I mean, come on,
you're just it's it's just from the sheer people alone
in those markets. You're talking thirty something million in a
new major you know, York New York City market. You're
talking twenty something million in the LA market. I mean,
you're talking about a massive amount of people who are
invested in the Dodgers, or invested in the Yankees or
the Lakers, or would be the next if they could
ever get their butts back there. So, uh, I didn't
(39:27):
think it would be that bad. Maybe there's some hope
to bring it back. We'll have to wait and see.
Speaker 2 (39:32):
But who's the blame for the Game one loss. We'll
tell you
